Gender Roles In Music Videos
Portrayal of gender, sex and sexuality in music videos Over the years, the music industry keeps
growing larger and larger. Every year there are new artists from multiple genres of music being found
and recognized. With new people in the industry comes new or more ways of expressing their music.
Other than using their lyrics, creating a music video to go along with their new song is another way to
capture the artists desired audience s attention. Music videos are a great tactic for musicians to draw
more or new listener s in and to show off their talents. The music industry has a very specific way and
clear goal of how they decide to draw new listeners in. In most music videos today weather its rap, hip
hop, R B, alternative, and so on, the music industry sexualizes and portrays women into sexual beings
and objects. In the article What s your definition of dirty baby? : Sex in music videos, Julie Andsager
and Kimberly Roe compare music videos success today to social Darwinism and they turned his
concept of survival of the fittest into survival of the sexiest. Today s use of sexuality in music videos

The logic behind this music video is that the women are the candy in the candy shop and they re
telling 50 Cent to pick his favorite candy out of all the women in the house. This is very degrading to
all the women in the music video because he s basically saying I don t care who you are or what your
name is I m just going to pick one of you to please me. 50 Cents image he gets from this music video
though is masculinity and how rich and inferior he is to the women while they walk around in nothing
and he walks around in fur coats. The music video teaches the audience that this is a normal thing to
do when you have this much power as someone who can basically purchase these women along with
his expensive clothes and

High School Schedule Essay
Many secondary schools are beginning to question the impact that a school schedule has on student
learning. Some schools are trying innovative schedules designed to provide choice and variety for
high school students. Recently, San Luis Obispo High School was asked by our Superintendent to
reconsider our current trimester schedule (see Appendices, Figure D) and review other alternative
schedules that would benefit the increasingly diverse students of San Luis Obispo. Students, parents,
and many teachers have been upset by this request and fail to see the validity of changing the
schedule. Teachers were told that the trimester schedule is inequitable as the three trimesters equate to
two semesters, thus students at SLOHS are receiving an unfair advantage over students at our sister
school, Morro Bay High School. Additionally, the claim was made that those students who are socio

The issues that MBHS has faced with the rotating block have to do with the length of classes and the
problem of not seeing all students every day. Teachers at MBHS claim that students have a difficult
time staying focused in classes that last 110 minutes per day. Additionally, teachers do not see all
students every day, and sometimes even for multiple days when students are involved in athletics. As
MBHS went through the process of reviewing their daily schedule they focused on reducing minutes
based on periods taught and consistently seeing students every single day, or at least four out of the
five days of the week. MBHS staff devised a hybrid block semester schedule (see Appendices, Figure
G) which will go up against their traditional rotating block on the ballot. Similiar to SLOHS, our
Superintendent and Board of Eduaction will make the final decision after the votes are

Samuel Adams As A Code Hero Essay
The founding father Samuel Adams is one of the most elusive yet important historical figures of this
nation s history. Although Adams was often very private regarding his life, from what is known about
the man it is clear that he played a major role in America s history. He took part in the American
Revolution and rose up when his country was in need. This is just a piece of the information that could
categorize Samuel Adams as a code hero. A code hero, though it has several in depth definitions, is
typically defined as a stoic and strong man that can change a negative force into a positive one.
Hemingway s code hero trope has been spread through countless forms of media and has been used to
categorize real people as well. Samuel Adams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also must have a few defining personality traits, including determination, strictness, being
independent and individualistic, non emotional or sentimental, and overall confident and loyal. All of
these factors help determine whether or not someone is a code hero and greatly support the idea that
Samuel Adams is a code hero. (Colvert 374). Samuel Adams was a key figure of the revolution, taking
part in many political events. At a young age, Adams followed in his father s footsteps through the
new world of politics in America. He joined several political groups in his hometown of Boston,
including the Massachusetts assembly, the Boston town meeting, and the Boston Sons of Liberty.
Throughout the revolution, Adams continued to support the town of Boston as a spokesperson and
organizer of several committees and meetings. During this time, many other highly valued political
figures praised Adams, including Thomas Jefferson, who referred to him as, The man of the revolution
and his own cousin, John Adams. John Adams once wrote, He was born and tempered a wedge of steel
to split the knot of lignum vitae that tied North America to Great Britain. (Maier 13). It is evident that
at the time, Sam was greatly responsible for spreading his ideals of American freedom, and wanted to
promote cutting ties with England. This also proves just how influential he was at the time. The true

Small Scale Tummy Tuck
What is a small scale tummy tuck? Authoritatively called a halfway abdominoplasty, a smaller than
usual tummy tuck just expels undesirable skin and fat from the territory underneath the navel. This
kind of strategy has generously expanded in notoriety. A full tummy tuck, by complexity expels skin
and fat from the whole stomach region. A small scale tummy tuck is a decent choice if there is not a
considerable measure of overabundance skin to expel, and the patient is keen on minimizing a
protruding lower stomach area.
After pregnancy, the lower abs, or rectus abdominus muscles are extended and the laxity may remain,
stressing a lower stomach swell. The smaller than expected tummy tuck is a famous alternative for
ladies trying to come back

Euthanasia Should Be Allowed To Die Research Paper
To have the right to be assisted to die or to not have the right to be assisted to die, that is the question.
An individual can have their lives turn upside down with merely a sentence being told to them. With
the countless procedures performed, we are lament to say, there is no cure. Just with fourteen words
being said, all hope is lost. What is the point of living on if all that is being felt is pure utter pain?
These individuals that have already been told they have a terminal illness should be given their rights
to end their lives. Being exempt from pure excruciating and unbearable pain is immoral; having said
that, doctors should allow their patients to commit assisted suicide.
Differentiating between euthanasia and assisted suicide is essential when discussing the right to die.
When a third party has performed the last act in the patient s death, euthanasia has occurred. When a
lethal injection is presented to the patient and the patient decides to insert it into their veins, assisted
suicide has been partaken. The patient should have a right to decide whether or not they would like to
continue living or perish. The doctor should not be the one in control when advocating the decision
their patient would like to commit. Euthanasia makes the doctor the primary source to what should
happen with their patient. Assisted suicide should be promoted instead of Euthanasia due to the fact
that the patient overall decides their final fate.

Essay about The Autobiography of Malcolm X
The Autobiography of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X is the story of Malcolm X, an
African American male growing up in the United States in the mid 1900 s. At this time in America
prejudice and segregation were widespread and much a part of everyday life. Malcolm takes the
reader through his experiences with American society, which rejects him. This rejection, along with
the inferiority cast upon all Black Americans, forces these males to search for acceptance. They are
forced to search for purpose in causes greater than single individuals. As the book shows, this is
evident in Malcolm throughout his life and in the life of other African American males. The
Autobiography shows how during this time in American history ... Show more content on

This unit was exactly the further acceptance Malcolm, and all rejected males, looked for at this time in
American history. With Malcolm s imprisonment ended the acceptance of the ghetto hustler and
gangster life. In prison Malcolm had to find a new place to turn for acceptance. As his father did,
Malcolm turned to religion. The religion he turned to, The Nation of Islam or more commonly known
as the Black Muslims, were a group of African Americans who believed, among other things, that
whites were the roots of evil. Malcolm became immersed in his religion. It seeped into every part of
his life. For the next years I was the nearest thing to a hermit in the Norfolk Prison Colony. I have
never been more busy in my life (173). Malcolm wrote many letters to family and friends about his
new found faith and , most importantly, he found the acceptance he longed for with the teachings of
Mr. Muhammad. This acceptance gave him purpose and after his release Malcolm became one of the
foremost representatives of the Nation of Islam. After Malcolm separated from the Nation of Islam,
part by choice but part by force, he had to turn elsewhere for the acceptance and purpose, which all
African American males needed at this time. With his national prominence he formed a new
organization. This organization would be the last place he found acceptance because of his untimely
death. His organization, the Muslim Mosque Inc., he

The Hours By Michael Cunningham
Mommy, I love you
The Hours written by Michael Cunningham focuses on three different women, Clarissa Vaughan,
Laura Brown, and Virginia Woolf to show how they react differently to different things of daily
events. The three women change their perspectives as the story goes on. And through different events
and obstacles in the book, we can see how they approach and solve the issues differently. Michael
Cunningham, the author uses the characters of Virginia Woolf and Laura Brown to show how they try
to create separation with different family members, but they both fail to understand how much their
family needs them.
Laura Brown is extremely stressed out becoming mother again and she is trying her best to become a
caring and patient parent for her second baby. While she is in a conversation with her husband, she

Vida Goldstein Persuasive Speech
Interview with Vida Goldstein
Vida Jane Mary Goldstein was a young pioneer in women s rights. She is one of Australia s greatest
suffragettes and has changed Australia even to this day. She was the first woman to ever stand in
parliament in Australia and got over 51 000 votes. She advocated for social justice, women s rights
and women s suffrage.
Good afternoon Miss. Goldstein, how are you?
Hello, I am great thanks.
Tell us about yourself.
I was born in Portland, Victoria on April 13th 1869 and I was the oldest child in my family. My sisters
and I were educated by a private governess and I went to the Presbyterian Ladies College. My 2
sisters, Lina and Elsie got married, but Aileen didn t get married.

I helped my mother collected signatures for the women s suffrage petition in 1890 but I wanted to do
much more for women.
You never got married, is that correct?
Yes, I never got married. Nothing was more degrading than a woman to have to marry for a home.
Love should be the sole reason. Surely those with a brain to think, eyes to see and a mind to reason
must realise that the capitalist and a cooperative system prevail in its place. I got many proposals but I
rejected them all.
So you were the first woman to stand for election in the British Empire, how did you feel?
I felt like I made a change for women and I managed to get over 51 000 votes, although I never
managed to get a seat but most of my votes polled well except for in 1917. When I travelled to
America I was elected to be secretary for the United Nations for Woman Suffrage. Then with that I
made 2 newspapers, the Woman s Sphere and Woman Voter.

Essay on Artillery and Weapons of the Civil War
Every war, though happens for a reason and bring a better change, is often gruesome. The Civil War
broke America in two groups and, at the time, was the war with the most casualties and injured men.
As the fight to preserve the Union progressed, so did a number of other areas, such as weaponry and
artillery. The advanced technology produced through the Civil War assisted in increasing number of
casualties. The North was more fortuitous than the South in multitudinous ways. One of which
includes the fact that their industrial society allowed them to produce a larger amount of weapons of a
higher quality. One of the major reasons the Union triumphantly defeated the Confederate army was
because of their more superior types of weapons. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unfortunately, the South had a large disadvantage in this area. The Confederacy was dependent on
stolen weapons to fight in the war (Morgan). Although the South advanced in agriculture, this did not
assist them in producing a high quality and quantity of weaponry and artillery.
Artillery caused a greater commotion than weaponry amongst people. It was better at targeting and
accurately shooting targets. The Parrott rifle, as previously mentioned, was used frequently yet was
unpopular amongst the soldiers. As a solution, the 3 inch Ordnance replaced the Parrott rifle. This
cannon was more accurate and had a longer range, up to about 2,300 yards. It was a hundred pounds
lighter than the Parrott. The Union army produced about a thousand Ordnances. Lacking the
technology, the Confederates did not and could not produce them. However, the Ordnance was
unnecessary during most battles since the shooter had to see his target in order to shoot with any
accuracy (Morgan). The Ordnance, though not necessary, was a commonly used weapon. In order to
solve the flaws of the Ordnance, the Napoleon was created. It is believed that the Napoleon was the
cause of more artillery casualties than all the other models combined during the Civil War. It could fire
as far as 1700 yards, but was deadly accurate within a range of 300 yards. The Napoleon was a
favorite amongst some Northern artillerists because of

Summary Of The Laughing Heart And The Journey
Life is full of decision making, and many obstacles that will come in your way to try and stop your
path and prevent you from achieving what you must achieve. In the poems A Laughing Heart, by
Charles Bukowski, and The Journey, by Mary Oliver, the authors both meet at describing what life is
like and how to live life like the fullest, even though there will be things to stop you, and you may stop
yourself. Both of these poems point out that you have to be the main character in your life, you have
to beat everybody or every obstacle that will trouble you, you must overcome it to achieve the highest
points of your life. In The Laughing Heart, the author says and the more often you learn to do it, the
more light there will be. (14, 15). Charles Bukowski is saying that if you learn to successfully
overcome your obstacles, your life will continually get better because there are less problems to face.
A similar line in The Journey, is ...as you left their voices behind,/ the stars began to burn through the
sheets of clouds,/ and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, (24 29). The
author is saying that as you started to seize opportunity, solve problems and face challenges in your
life, you became stronger, and you became the main character in your life. The theme of these two
poems is that your life is your life, and even though you will have to overcome obstacles and face
challenges, you must be the main character in your life to live your

The Rule Of The King
After the failure of the Judges, Israel desired a king, so they could be like all other nations. (1Sam 5:8
paraphrased) Creating a United Monarchy meant many changes would have to take place. At the time
Israel had been theocracy and God was their King, however the elders had a different plan. They
wanted a king, even if it meant rejecting God. God told Samuel to listen to the people, appoint them a
king, but make sure they understand what the king who reigns over them will do Samuel explained to
the people that their sons would be part of the army, their children would have to work for the king,
they also would have to pay high taxes. The people refused to listen to Samuel. So God gave them a
king. The LORD replied, Do as they say, and give them a king. (1 Sam 8:22 NLT) Then Samuel
agreed and sent the people home. God was rejected and a human monarchy would now rule Israel.
Unknown to the people God had chosen a man to serve as their king. (1Sam 9:16 17 paraphrased)
According to Hindson and Yates Saul was the people s choice, more than God s choice for a king.
They focused on his outward appearance more than his heart. Tall, dark, and handsome, Saul was the
chosen one the appointed king. According to Hindson and Yates Despite Saul s strong beginning
(chap. 11) and being warned by Samuel to honor the Mosaic covenant (chap.12), Saul s poor choices
caused his kingdom to deteriorate rapidly. (chap.13 15) Saul s blatant disobedience would be the last

a true friendship, it is inevitable that trials and tribulations will come. If the bond is strong enough to

Preventing Falls Among The Elderly Population
Introduction Falls are a commonly experienced problem among the elderly population. The incidence
rates of falls among the Hong Kong s community living elderly stood at 26 percent, while the
incidence of new fallers stands at 198 falls per 1000 individuals per year. Whereas, one year
prevalence level of falls was identified to be 19 percent with the mean number of falls annually for a
faller being 1.4 falls. Forty seven of the falls in a year were identified occur indoors while the rest
outdoors. Around a third of the elderly population aged over 64 years experience at least one fall a
year. Past studies link falls to extrinsic factors and intrinsic factors. An example of intrinsic factors
includes medical problems while one extrinsic factor involves environmental hazards.
Comprehensively, falls result from muscle weaknesses, gait deficits, usage of assistive devices,
cognitive impairments, arthritis, advanced age and history of falls (Fong, Siu, Yeung, Cheung, Chan,
2011). This paper proposes a research study focuses on preventing falls among the elderly population
in Hong Kong. The target population of the study constitutes the elderly aged over 60 years on the
hectic area named Mong Kok, Kowloon in Hong Kong. Among the eighteen district areas in Hong
Kong, the Mong Kok is considered representative district for the study on the promotion program.

As I crawled in the back of my dad s truck, ready to go to the corn maze, my stomach felt like it had a
hundred butterflies were trying to get out. About halfway to the corn maze my stomach felt like the
butterflies that we re trying to storm out had ten babies each, that we re now trying to burst out like
fireworks. I could taste the dirt under my nails when I was chewing them due to the tizzy feeling I had
about what was going to happen in the maze.
Finally, after what felt like a week before I arrived to the farm we hopped in line to buy tickets for the
maze. I heard screams coming from the maze and the butterflies flew away, but, pigeons took their
place and I felt like puking. I heard people, coming out of the maze talking about their favorite parts.
One of them announced their favorite was when she was chased by the man with a chainsaw. Just the
thought of being chased made me want to curl up in a ball, find a nice hiding place and never come
out. On the other hand, I undoubtedly wanted to mosey through the maze, to show my brother and
sister that I could make it through the maze and not appear as scared as them.
After getting our tickets, we hopped in line for the maze. In the rear of the line, we talked and took
pictures. There were about twenty people in front of us, but, In no time we were at the front of the
line. As soon as our tickets were checked, we walked into the maze and it smelled like hay and corn. I
could feel

Nectar Of A Sieve By Kamala Munshi
Deeksha Bathini
The book, Nectar in a Sieve by Kamala Markandaya, was published in 1954, approximately seven
years after India gained independence from British colonial rule. Thus, it can be concluded that the
book is either took place during the Raj Period or shortly after gaining independence. Rukmani, from
a family of four daughters, was married off to a poor tenant farmer named Nathan at the mere age of
twelve. The first year of their marriage brought rich profusion and wealth. The harvests were
abundant, and Rukmani gave birth to a beautiful girl, Ira. As Rukmani and Nathan s lives progressed,
however, they faced adversity and challenges. First and foremost, Rukmani was unable to conceive a
son. Apprehensively and secretly, Rukmani solicited fertility treatments from Kenny, an American
doctor who spoke the Indian language. Ira was seven when Rukmani bore her first son, Arjun. As the
years progressed, Rukmani birthed four more boys: Thambi, Murugan, Raja, and Selvam. As the
family continued to face daily challenges of starvation, a tannery is built near Rukmani s mud house.
After careful consideration and the dissuasion of their parents, Arjun and Thambi sought to find jobs
in the tannery to earn money and support their families amidst the starvation. However, both Arjun
and Thambi were fired for protesting their measly wages. Luckily, they both found well paying jobs in
Ceylon on a tea plantation and never returned home again. Ira, when reaching fourteen years of age,

The Nature Of Self By Sri Ramana Maharshi
The Nature of Self
Introduction
The life of man today is characterized by millions of activities that almost steal attention of one self. It
is literally impossible for man to quietly life in a serene place that is very quiet and free from
distraction of any manner. If anybody needs such scenery, then such a person has to invest a lot on it.
Technology has invaded almost all the private areas of human beings. Phones are everywhere and
electromagnetic radiations are everywhere. Even the once thought private zones like bathrooms and
toilets are being invaded by water proof podcasts and Iphones. It is because of these kinds of
distractions and the likes that the concept of nature of self becomes of importance. The nature of self
is an ideology, which is embedded on religious believes in Asia. Sri Ramana Maharshi tried to explain
the concept on different facets. The reason behind the multi facet nature of the concept is because it
tries to explain human behavior, which is very dynamic. The quest to understand humanity propels
this concept to a reality and makes it have diverse versions from different people. Through the lens of
subjects and objects in the greater universe, man tries to explain himself and find peace with the
environment. This is irrespective of whether an atheist or theist. Nature of self not only concentrates
on the explanation of the out going nature of the human begins, but its religious aspect helps mediate
on behavior of human beings. According to the

Significance Of The ANZAC Legend
The ANZAC spirit was born on the twenty fifth of April 1915, on this day Australian soldiers landed
upon the shores of Gallipoli to serve their country for the first time in war. Each year Australians
celebrate the mateship, courage and heroism the ANZAC soldiers showed on that day. Although,
people tend to depict these soldiers as victims of a catastrophic trauma, yet this passionate sacrifice is
what gave Australia its name. Furthermore, there is word of discussion about the truth behind the
accuracy of the ANZAC legend. Evidence demonstrates that the ANZAC legend is an accurate
portrayal of what occurred the day the ANZAC S landed in Gallipoli. The legend of mateship,
heroism, courage and bravery is an accurate representation of the fighting Australian and New Zealand
soldiers in world war one.
After the ANZACs landed in Gallipoli, they were in combat for approximately eight and a half
months. Throughout this long and tedious period of time the soldiers went through many traumatic
experiences. Although, when looking in the face of death the soldiers were able to have a spirit of
mateship to make conditions bearable. To support this, a governor general stated in an article posted in
two thousand and eight, they gave their lives for a supreme cause in gallant comradeship with the rest
of my soldiers who fought and died with them. This source is exclaiming that the soldiers would put
their fellow comrades before themselves as mateship was prioritised by them. Because of

Why Is Oklahoma City Bombing Wrong
Oklahoma City Bombing The Oklahoma City bombing was the deadliest Terrorist attack event in the
history of the United States (Andryszewski). It was just a normal day at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal
Building , nothing really interesting was going on. Then out of the blue, the building just explodes
killing, injuring, and separating people from their families. . Because Timothy McVeigh was upset
with the government, ( Andryszewski, Tricia Homegrown Terrorism) he decided he d do what he
thought was best for the United States. Clearly what he did made the United States worse. (

If he didn t then McVeigh would be on his own and it s hard to bomb something and escape in time to
where he didn t get injured with the technology back then. McVeigh and Nichols were part of a group
called Christian Identity movement, which holds that white Aryans, not Jews, are God s chosen people
and that a worldwide racial holy war is imminent. So they were technically at war with the
government. So Mcveigh couldn t really set the bomb off without Nichols unless he was very skillful,
there was no way he d be able to plant that bomb all by himself and get out of there before it went off.
Nichols was arrested for his questioning and was charged with helping set the bomb off. Both him and
McVeigh pleaded not guilty in the trial. McVeigh thought it would be good for the America s if he
killed all men women and children, he could ve walked in and shot them. ( LaDoux) This was a very
devastating event and no one would ever want to relive it, it was terrible. Lot s of people were hurt,
and hurt bad enough that they were getting legs cut off, kids were losing parents, and it s hard as a kid
to lose both of your parents. Or if your parent lost a leg, then it would be hard for them to play with
their kids and do fun things with them. And I know that can be very hard. So this is definitely a very
devastating event. To remember this event, there was a memorial

Statement Of Purpose For Loyola University
In January 2013, The Center for Urban Research and Learning at Loyola University Chicago listed an
assortment of community organizations, and I was challenged to select only one. Immediately, I was

schools increase access for underserved populations through expanded community based education
and recruitment of underrepresented minority and low income students. It was during this experience,
that I realized my passion in life was to serve these communities. I am grateful for the engagement I

Explain Why The House Of Lords Should Be Abolished In The Uk
The House of Lords is a section of the UK parliament, which oversees and reviews changed and bills
made or passed by the House of Commons. Unlike the House of Commons, the members are not
decided by the voting of the general public. There are 2 members who are representing due to their
job, the Duke of Norfolk and the Marquess of Cholmondely, who are both responsible for organising
royal events. There are then another 90 members who are represented due to one of their ancestors
being made a member; these people are known as Hereditary Peers. Twenty six senior Bishops of the
Church of England are also represented; these are known as Spiritual Lords. The other members have

For many years now, there has been numerous debates and calls for the House of Lords to be
reformed, with some even calling for it to be abolished.
There are many reasons why the House of Lords should remain in full effect. The main reason is
should be kept is that the members of the House of Lords are speaking about what is best for the
country, while MP s in the House of Commons just say what will please the voters in there affiliated
constituency, as most MPs care more about being re elected than what is actual best for the country.
Critics say that the House of Lords ignores the will and opinions of the nation, but in reality it
constantly speaks up for the rights of the people, especially when the Commons does not. Another
reason is that each year, the House of Lords sits more hours, days and weeks than the House of
Commons, proving the view that the House of Lords is just a social club as wrong. Another strong
argument for the House of Lords retention is that the majority of the members of it are highly
intelligent and distinguish people who are expert in their fields, and are highly knowledgeable in other
areas. Currently in the House of Lords there are five former Chancellors, three

Evolution of Information Technology and Its Emergence in...
Evolution of Information Technology and its Emergence in India ITM IB PP6 EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY Information Technology today is what runs businesses worldwide. It is what drives the
industries and is an irreplaceable element of our routine lives. But where did it all begin? Why has it
gained so much importance over time, so much so that we study an entire subject on it? Through this
paper we have traced the path of evolution of IT from its nascent stages, globally as well as from the
Indian perspective. We have tried to take into account the tremendous growth of the IT sector in India
and single out the advantages faced by the Indian IT sector. We have also looked into the performance

The margins of these IT service players are very high and their growth rate has been envied by other
sectors. According to a Nasscom forecast, there will be 21 24 % growth rate in software and services
revenue in this financial year. Soon our software exports will touch the magical figure of $50 billion.
The software and services exports segment grew by 29 % to register revenues of $40.4 billion this
year from $31.4 billion in last year. So from statistics point of view, everything is fine for this
industry. It will employ 4 million people in 2008 and account for 7% of gross domestic product and
33% of India s foreign exchange inflows, says the Nasscom report. However, there are quite some
challenges which the IT industry faces. i.) Resource retention Indian IT sector has become an HR
manager s nightmare. Their biggest challenge is marinating good people in organisation and keeping
the attrition rate in control. ii.) Lack of trained people The supply and demand of quality engineers
who are capable of working in the IT field is having a huge gap. Companies have started looking for
additional options of hiring science graduates and providing them adequate training to enable them to
work in IT sector, but still the quality of talent is declining which in turn means lack of quality in
work. iii.) US slowdown Most of the revenue of IT and ITes ccompanies comes from US. A slowdown

But what fundamental necessities do rich schools posses that money could provide for poor schools?
Besides the obvious needs of the extremely needy schools: repairs to the building (proper plumbing,
roofing and walls to name a few) and basic supplies (such as books, paper, computers and laboratory
tools), the school also needs money in less obvious areas. With more money at its disposal a school
can purchase more space and teachers. It has been proven that students learn better (and teachers can
teach better) when the class size is limited to under twenty four. This is not possible without financing
for a larger school and more teachers to accommodate all the students. A school with larger funds also
has the capability to choose better administrators and faculty from a greater selection (they are not
limited to those applicants in lower pay brackets). In the case of a Canton Middle School in Baltimore
an excellent principle made all the difference. He even made the news, for TIME magazine wrote that
One man gets the credit for Canton s current condition: school principle Craig Spilman ... Last month,
for example, Canton reported that its students had tripled the rate at which they passed a battery of

ways that lack of money affects students learning ability. Many things are different in poor

The Earthā€™s Nuclear Core Essay
The Earth s Nuclear Core
The Earth s core is like a massive nuclear reactor, burning uranium into lighter elements, and
producing much of the geological phenomenon observed on the Earth. This fission reactor is
responsible for producing most of the Earth s heat and energy, as well as, the phenomenon of
geomagnetism. There is substantial reason to believe that the center of the Earth is a massive nuclear
reactor derived from empirical data observed in the earth, and logical evidence to prove that the theory
is true.
The theory started when geologists in the fifties began whether natural occurring nuclear fission was
possible. Eventually, empirical evidence presented itself. In 1972 at the Oklo uranium mine in western

In the case of the Earth, the reactions in question are fueled by the element uranium 235, and uranium
238. Uranium is the heaviest naturally occurring element on Earth and it is common in fission
reactions. Early in the Earth s formation, numerous elemental changes were taking place. Some
elements would combine with other elements to become stable. In the case of the newly formed Earth,
many elements looked for oxygen to become stable. However, early in the formation of the earth there
was little oxygen present. That meant that elements that combine with oxygen, such as uranium and
magnesium, would have no where to go, but into the Earth s core. It is estimated that from this
process, about 64 percent of the earth s uranium actually sank to the Earth s center. If these elements
were abundant enough and were allowed to gather over a long period of time they would be able to
initiate their own self sustaining fission reactions.
Much of what is known about the Earth s nuclear core can be learned from logical, mathematical
reasoning. A great deal is understood about radioactive decay, and fission so with basic knowledge of
the elemental pieces of the theory it is not difficult to make accurate estimates and predictions about
the quantity, and commonality of these processes in the earth. Today the core of the Earth would be an
estimated five miles in diameter.

Why Was The 13th Amendment Important
The thirteenth amendment was the first amendment implemented into the United States Constitution
to ending slavery. The thirteenth amendment states that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude,
except as a punishment for a crime of which the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist
within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction (Library of Congress). Slavery
started in the year 1619 in the Northern American colonies and continued to grow until the nation
became divided between those who supported slavery and the others who did not support slavery
(History.com Staff, 2009). Slaves were beaten, worked to extreme exhaustion, and never given proper
care. Many of these slaves worked the tobacco farms and helped build the economic foundations of
the new nation. While this amendment alone was not enough to completely stop slavery, it was a
commencement to change the future. For every change, there must be a start, and the thirteenth
amendment offered a start to those who endured cruel unequal treatment. This amendment would
establish freedom and would allow Congress the power to define freedom. The thirteenth amendment
was extremely controversial. Benjamin Franklin and Dr. Benjamin Rush were some of the first to form
an abolition group against slavery. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparative Analysis Between Three Different Curricula
Comparative Analysis between Three Different Curricula:
Te Whāriki, New Zealand Curriculum (2007) and Reggio Emilia
The history of early childhood in New Zealand Aotearoa is not as extensive as countries such as the
United Kingdom though, does not mean it is not complicated. Aotearoa s history of early childhood
education (ECE) is deeply entangled within social, cultural and political contexts. These contexts have
shaped the mandated and chosen curriculums of ECE today (Duhn, 2009). The 1980 s was a
significant era that had fundamental influences on curriculums such as Te Whāriki (1996) and New
Zealand Curriculum (NZC) (2007). Within this era, education and care was transformed as the
government (of the day) were persuaded to invest more in ECE. This transformation was guided by an
ideological shift, hence becoming the period of governmental and economic reform (May, 2004).
Anne Meade (1989) depicted Aotearoa to the international community as in the midst of knitting a
new early childhood sweater (cited in May 2004, p. 203), in other words, a new curriculum. Reports
helped the knitting of the new curriculum through its political pathways. The Education to be More
report (Meade Report) described a progressive framework for ECE development focusing on
achieving high quality ECE (May, 2004). It strived to make all policies across the ECE sector equally
important as primary, secondary and tertiary education. However, The Bailey Report requested that

Examples Of Memory View
Memory view is associated with Personal Identity where in which it is (Personal Identity) made up by
memory relations. These are where a person consists of a set of person stages linked by (genuine)
memory relations. Memory view is largely made up of genuine and apparent memories although
Genuine memory is the same as apparent memory provided that the person with the apparent memory
really experienced the event.
It is viewed as being something that is purely made up of mental and psychological factors. An
example that can be used is that of a rope; a rope is composed of twisted fibres, but no fibre needs to
run the whole length of the rope. (1) In this example the rope itself represents the person whilst the
fibres are seen to be the memory connections and therefore connect the mental processes. The idea of
this example leads from Locke s Theory and is imperative requirement for his theory to work. Aside
from this memory view is also largely constituted to Personal identity and of which there have been

Descriptive Essay On Fangirls
The inspiration for writing about a fangirl hit me when I realized just how chaotic their obsessive
lifestyle is. Spending hours of their day online tweeting about their favorite celebs. Their endless
arguing with other fanbases about how they hate each other s idols and claiming their own is more
successful. I was a fangirl myself when I was in high school, but not so much now. I am still very
aware of just how far things can get when encountering fangirls online and in real life. To those who
have yet to come across a fangirl, I will be explaining what a fangirl is by the way they act or how
they can be fangirling , what they say or expressions they use, and the stages of fangirls.
Typically, a fangirl does not act normal when it comes to famous people, as though they may look
normal. They call it fangirling. They go far beyond the normal fan level. They have extreme love or
enthusiasm for a person with fame. They enjoy the simple existence of that person. When it comes to
the subject of their obsession with a celebrity, expect the unexpected. Any mention or sighting of a
celebrity will have them gasping for air, fainting, screaming or squealing while jumping, and last but
not least, endless tweeting. Fangirls are determined to buy anything their celebrity comes out with. For
example, any magazine Justin Bieber was featured on I had to buy and hang up his poster. When he
came out with a collection of perfume, I bought every single one and still buy them to this day

Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper
Critical Race Theory and Conflict Theory Society contains groups with diverse interests, where
competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States is
the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath (Robbins,
Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is through imagery
that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010).
Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower White
people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power assembled by
law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is embedded in American
society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be exhibited in tolerable ways
or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). As a post modern theory, CRT encourages
structural approach by attending to the problems of a diverse society, instead of purely increasing
access to obtainable opportunities and resources (Ortiz Jani, 2011). History is ... Show more content

Examples Of Competitive Rivalry In Healthcare Industry
Competitive Rivalry
On the service side of the healthcare industry competition is relatively weak because it is not based on
free market system. Government subsidized healthcare coverage eliminates the incentive for lower
prices on medical services. From a consumer standpoint there is not much differentiation between
healthcare providers because of the lack of competition. From a product standpoint there is strong
competition. The industry leaders, CVS, McKession and Unitedhealth Group, each gross over $100
billion dollars a year and rank under 15 in the Fortune 500. These companies are constantly growing,
advancing and competing to discover and patent new drugs and technology. New entrants to the
market would face a significant competitive disadvantage.
Threat of New Entry
From both the service and product perspective the barriers to entry are relatively strong. Becoming a
licensed physician takes years of expensive, rigorous education. Most products in the healthcare
industry are government regulated to protect the health of consumers. The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) are responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the control

Buying Power
Healthcare is a necessity; therefore, everyone is a customer in one way or another. Unfortunately, due
to the lack of competition, service cost and dependence on medical care, buying power within the
industry is very low. There is no ability to substitute medical procedures or treatments, so the customer
has little to no bargaining power. In the product portion of the market there are low cost alternatives to
the OTC brand name drugs, but most drugs prescribed for a specific illness can t be substituted.

The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell
Many phenomena exist within the world; whether it be the butterfly effect, the small world theory, or

analyzes an effect he coins the tipping point . The tipping point essentially is the point at which small,
seemingly insignificant changes become significant enough to cause a large and often times important
change . Throughout the text of this novel, Gladwell explores this notion more in depth; he utilizes
real world examples such as the re emergence of Hush Puppies, a popular footwear item, and dissects
the epidemic of the syphilis outbreak in Baltimore, Maryland in order to achieve this purpose. The

master at creating relationships and bonds in areas of life in which he had no real expertise. Horchow
had social connections in the arts, technology, agriculture, architecture, business, law, health care, and
any other occupational field . Horchow and his social connections were edges in which information
could be passed along seamlessly from one cluster to another, making the possibility of a complete
cascade much more probable regarding diffusion. Besides the Law of the Few, Gladwell attributes the
occurrence of a tipping point and its relation to diffusion with the Law of Stickiness as well.
The Law of Stickiness bases much of its philosophy upon the notion that there are certain factors that

Essay on Stanhope in Journey s End by RC Sheriff
Stanhope in Journey s End
How does Sherriff develop our understanding of Stanhope in Act One?
Introduction
Stanhope is considered by the men to be the best company commander
[they ve] got. However under the pressure of the Great War, Stanhope has changed into a different
man, and has turned to drinking alcohol to take away the fear and pain of War. At the beginning of the
play,
Sherriff chooses not to introduce the audience to Stanhope. Instead, the audience builds their own
picture of Stanhope through the differing views of the men in his company. Hardy s strong description
of Stanhope, forces the viewer to build a picture of a freak show exhibit. However, this view is
opposed by Osborne, who argues that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drinking like a fish as usual? Hardy
[Page 4]
He s a long way the best company commander we ve got. Osborne
[Page 4]
When a boy like Stanhope gets a reputation out here for drinking, he turns into a kind of freak show
exhibit. Osborne [Page 5]
Young Stanhope goes on sticking it, month in, month out. Osborne
[Page 6]
There isn t a man to touch him as commander of the men. Osborne
[Page 6]
He s so fussy about the trenches. Hardy [Page 7]
He was skipper of Rugger... and kept wicket for the eleven. A jolly good bat, too. Raleigh [Page 11]
You mustn t expect to find him quite the same. Osborne [Page 13]
It s a big strain on a man. Osborne [Page 13]
He s a little bit quick tempered. Osborne [Page 13]
Conclusion
R.C Sherriff employs a very clever writing style in Journey s End, to describe Stanhope to the
audience. Before actually meeting Stanhope, the reader is left to make their own decision about
Stanhope s character. The opinions that are given of Stanhope by the other characters are fairly
accurate. Hardy s description appears to be correct at first, when Stanhope enters; his first words being
Damn the soup, bring some whisky. He uses the drink to escape from the problems of war around him.
The quick temper that Osborne described is also shown to the audience in this part of the scene.

The European Regional Development fund(2007) defined service delivery as the way of distributing

Why Is It Important To Keep Summer Break
Do you remember how excited you used to get for summer break? Now imagine not having a break at
all, having to continuously learn new subjects all year long. Exhausting isn t it? There are some
schools where there would be a 3 4 week break in the summer, but the winter break is longer than
ours. Personally, I believe that we should keep our summer break the way it is because: both students
and teachers deserve a break from school, constantly having new information drilled into your head all
year long is bound to put stress on anyone, and there are countless students who depend on summer
break to work and/or travel.
First off, students and teachers would not be able to stand each other by the end of the year. If the
county had all year round school, we would all start resenting each other because of all the time we
would be forced to spend together. Also, I know a couple of teachers who gave up one job for being a
teacher because of summer break. They have time to travel and do whatever they want in the summer
instead of being stuck in a building with teenagers all day. Plus, teachers also deserve a break from
grading papers and talking until their voice is gone to kids who are probably not even listening. ...

Imagine how much those levels would increase if we had school with no breaks. School is honestly
stressful enough as it is; with the amount of work that we get on a daily basis, it s no wonder we are
more anxious than before. If we tried to continuously have new information stored in our brains, kids
would start thinking they aren t smart enough to pass high school so they just stop trying. Kids also
depend on summer break to work, some have families to

Importance Of Education In Computer Science
Ultimately, education in its real sense is the pursuit of truth. It is an endless journey through
knowledge and enlightenment.
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
I truly adhere to the above mentioned axiom, which made me to realize and understand the importance
of continuous learning and helped me in reaching greater heights. The inherent curiosity for the field
of computers started, right from childhood when I was able to perceive that this magical machine
possesses the potential to simplify the lives of people and empower them. Initially, to my mind, this
machine is a huge calculator, in which the advanced calculations are performed, that cannot be done
using normal calculator. This idea led me to initiate the learning about computers. Tally is the first
software which proved me that I was wrong about this intelligent machine and it is capable of solving
many complex problems that are plaguing in the society. My strong affinity towards latest
technologies, subsequent industry experience and a strong will to reinvent myself through my coding
skills helped me to go beyond horizons. I believed a Master s Program could be a solution for my
never quenching quest for knowledge. Also, the four years worth experience in various application
developments, boundless potential in programming and interest in coding industry drove me to make a
commitment to embark a Master s Program in Computer Science.
Serious interests evolved in me to learn more about science and computers when I was in

John Brown Martyr
Some believed that John Brown was a maniac more than a martyr, but history proves that he was more
of a martyr. John Brown believed that all men should be considered equal and have the right to
freedom. Beginning in his early childhood and all the way though his life, he had a passion to abolish
slavery. Learning from a young age, that all men should have the right to freedom and equality, started
a fire inside of John Brown. This was a burning passion to help free slaves and make the world a
better place. John Brown was born in Torrington, Connecticut on the 9th of May in 1800. John Brown
s parents were Owen and Ruth Brown. John had 6 siblings, and he was the 3rd oldest among the 6.

Calvinists in the early eighteenth century, started to believe that slavery would bring down the wrath
of God, which is where John Brown s passion for anti slavery began. In 1805, when John Brown was
only 5, his family packed up their life and moved by oxcart t Northeast Ohio. On December 9th, 1808,
John s Mother Ruth died during child birth. While the whole brown family was heartbroken, John
took the loss especially hard. Not long after Ruth s death, Owen Brown got remarried to Sally Root,
who was twenty years old. John never saw Sally as his mom, and never formed any kind of feelings
toward her. Due to his Ruth s death, John grew up very bashful and timid around women, but at the
age of twenty John married Dianthe Kusk. Dianthe, as John described her, remarkably plain, but
industrial and economical girl of excellent character. A year after John and Dianthe got married, they
had their first son in which they named John Junior. John Brown and his wife had 3 children within
the first 4 years of marriage. Within those 4 years, they also pioneered new land and settles in a
section of northwestern Pennsylvania. In the northwestern territory, John

Circumcision Persuasive Speech
Title: Circumcision in baby boys
Name: Leya Saju
Plain Language Summary
What is circumcision? What are the benefits? What are the risks?
Circumcision is when the skin that surrounds the tip of the penis is removed. It is a very common
surgery in the United States. It is usually done in newborns, but can also be done in older men.
Families choose to do circumcision because of personal hygiene, faith, tradition etc. While other
families see it as unnecessary.
Circumcision makes it easier to wash the penis and keep the area clean. It also decreases the chance of
getting infections. Sometimes in men who are not circumcised, it may become difficult to pull the
foreskin back. This may cause that foreskin or the head of the penis to become inflamed. Also, cancer
of the penis is seen less in circumcised men. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rarely, the foreskin does not heal properly or the cut may be made too short or too long. The
American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends circumcision because there are a lot more
benefits than risks, but the decision is entirely up to the parents.
How is it done? Does it hurt?
Circumcision is usually done within 10 days after birth at the hospital nursery. It takes about 10
minutes to do. The baby will lie on his back and the foreskin will be removed by attaching a Mogen or
Gomco clamp to the penis. Ointment and gauze are then used to wrap the penis.
An injection with anesthetics or a cream for pain is used first. To distract the infant, sometimes sugar
water is also used. Research also shows that there may be a difference in pain when a Mogen clamp is
used instead of Gomco. These clamps are common tools used to hold the foreskin away from the tip of
the penis so that your doctor can make a neat cut and reduce any harm to the head of the

Since the moment of birth we are placed on the dual track. A newborn is wrapped in a pink blanket
emphasizing that the newborn is a female and a newborn wrapped in a blue blanket shows that the
baby is a male. After this moment the newborn male or female are gender scripted. A female is
typically on the pink side of the dual track expected to be sensitive, feminine, dependent and to stay
home to clean the house and take care of her children. On the other hand, a male is on the blue side of
the dual track and suppose to be strong, masculine, independent, head of the household, successful and
aggressive. We are gender intensified three times in our lives, the first time is when we are born we
are place on either the pink or blue side of the dual track emphasizing which track we belong to based
on our gender. The second time is when we are beginning adolescence, during this time one is going
through puberty and is in search for his or her identity leading to once again basing on one s genitalia,
clarifying whether you are a female or a male. The third time is when a couple is going through a
pregnancy, gender scripts are clear indicating that the female will be giving birth to the child therefore
is expected to stay home, while the male is expected to provide and protect in all ways for his family.
These expectations lead to why men and women are considered as the opposite sex, meaning that
these two genders have no overlap what so ever. It is

The Importance Of A Representative Senate
Senators come from Canada s regions, but did not represent them J. Patrick Boyer, 2014, 222 This
paper will argue that Canada should reform the Senate because it is not representative. Representation
is defined as the action or speaking or acting on behalf of someone or the state of being so represented
(Oxford, 2015). In relation to Senate representation, it is known as the disjointed relationship of
Senators with their respected regions and citizens as well as their fiduciary relationship with the Head
of State, also known in Canadian parliament as the Prime Minister. The true intentions of the Senate
will be uncovered and divulged to further explain and signify the importance of a representative
Senate by reform in current day Canada. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alongside the drastic changes through technological advancements in Canada correlating with the
inflated numbers in population since confederation, it is concerning that the Senate is still organized
and acting in the same manner it has been since its creation. There have been minor amendments to
regional representation due to new provinces being added to Canada, but those amendments do not
accommodate the vast growing populations within regions. The way in which Senators are appointed
due to affiliation with the Prime Minister rather than representing the unique needs of regions
continues to be prevalent. The Senate still serves as the most undemocratic portion of Canadian
Parliament due to the appointment rather than the election of its representatives, which can and does
create a division between regional and national interests versus elitist capitalistic views for individual
and political gain (Boyer, 2014,

What Is The Cube Essay
H80555487 In the movie Cube we watch a group of six characters meet and try to escape the prison
like box that is the cube. Along the way, they must fight to survive deadly traps using limited
resources to escape. They have no food, water, or tools. They can only use their unique personal
ability to solve the problems. The characters have no rules to guide them in escaping and there is no
one to enforce any type of rules because each character has an equality of strength. This leads the
viewer to conclude that there is a state of nature and a state of war amongst the characters. Thomas
Hobbes describes a state of nature as when there is no government to enforce rules. A state of war is

Quentin is an aggressive character that has no regard for the safety of others. He only cares about his
survival and does not care what others think of him. If he cared what people thought of him he would
not have made so many people mad and would have survived in the end. The final condition that is
met in the movie is trickery. Quentin uses trickery to kill Holloway. He tricks Holloway to climb out
the window and then when he has the chance to rescue her from falling out of the cube he drops her.
Worth also uses trickery to kill Quentin but the first attempt of killing him with the sound activated
spikes did not work. He survived this trick but died when they tricked him to exit one room and enter
another. He did not change rooms fast enough and the cubes moved and crushed

William Penn American Hero Essay
Should William Penn be a heroic figure to American history? Throughout British proprietary
colonization of the Americas, there were many different motives for claiming American soil by those
whom were audacious enough to consider the prospect of funding a distant statehood. Penn claimed to
see his colony as a holy experiment (page XIII); who differed from its peers in the respect that it had
intent to provide refuge to those whom faced religious persecution, even so, the devout Quaker,
eventually allowed to fall into a state of neglect and sink to the level of its peers. Ironically the people
of Pennsylvania became so intolerant of other religions, that, not even after four decades, Paralleled

In lay man s terms, all considered Penn one hundred percent English, with no relationship to the
American revolutionaries of the United States whose actions would take place more than a hundred
years after his. While Penn may have claimed his colony to be a holy experiment , his actions
communicated otherwise. When Penn received his charter from Charles II he saw further potential for
and many probable afforded opportunities for personal gain from establishing dominion over
territories over one of the many virgin lands in one of the new worlds. Penn s ledger from the throne
implanted the idea of escaping his own previously established personal debts, as well as enlarging his
overall holdings in real estate and land, especially one not subject to the high taxes and economic cost
which land in mainland England cost at the time. When Penn received his ledger, the idea of
establishing a land of religious tolerance for all those persecuted by those less open minded in the east
seemed a very appealing thought to many. Penn, however, knew that he had a far better chance of
obtaining American real estate than English. He recognized his charter as a means of enlarging his
property holdings and his way out of personals debt (page 122). While Penn s intent of establishing a
land of acceptance and brotherly love may have been apparent

Every year there are new artists from multiple genres of music being found and recognized. With new people in the industry comes new or more ways of expressing their music. Other than using their lyrics, creating a music video to go along with their new song is another way to capture the artists desired audience s attention. Music videos are a great tactic for musicians to draw more or new listener s in and to show off their talents. The music industry has a very specific way and clear goal of how they decide to draw new listeners in. In most music videos today weather its rap, hip hop, R B, alternative, and so on, the music industry sexualizes and portrays women into sexual beings and objects. In the article What s your definition of dirty baby? : Sex in music videos, Julie Andsager and Kimberly Roe compare music videos success today to social Darwinism and they turned his concept of survival of the fittest into survival of the sexiest. • 5. High School Schedule Essay Many secondary schools are beginning to question the impact that a school schedule has on student learning. Some schools are trying innovative schedules designed to provide choice and variety for high school students. Recently, San Luis Obispo High School was asked by our Superintendent to reconsider our current trimester schedule (see Appendices, Figure D) and review other alternative schedules that would benefit the increasingly diverse students of San Luis Obispo. Students, parents, and many teachers have been upset by this request and fail to see the validity of changing the schedule. Teachers were told that the trimester schedule is inequitable as the three trimesters equate to two semesters, thus students at SLOHS are receiving an unfair advantage over students at our sister school, Morro Bay High School. Additionally, the claim was made that those students who are socio economically ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issues that MBHS has faced with the rotating block have to do with the length of classes and the problem of not seeing all students every day. Teachers at MBHS claim that students have a difficult time staying focused in classes that last 110 minutes per day. Additionally, teachers do not see all students every day, and sometimes even for multiple days when students are involved in athletics. As MBHS went through the process of reviewing their daily schedule they focused on reducing minutes based on periods taught and consistently seeing students every single day, or at least four out of the five days of the week. MBHS staff devised a hybrid block semester schedule (see Appendices, Figure G) which will go up against their traditional rotating block on the ballot. Similiar to SLOHS, our Superintendent and Board of Eduaction will make the final decision after the votes are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Samuel Adams As A Code Hero Essay The founding father Samuel Adams is one of the most elusive yet important historical figures of this nation s history. Although Adams was often very private regarding his life, from what is known about the man it is clear that he played a major role in America s history. He took part in the American Revolution and rose up when his country was in need. This is just a piece of the information that could categorize Samuel Adams as a code hero. A code hero, though it has several in depth definitions, is typically defined as a stoic and strong man that can change a negative force into a positive one. Hemingway s code hero trope has been spread through countless forms of media and has been used to categorize real people as well. Samuel Adams ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also must have a few defining personality traits, including determination, strictness, being independent and individualistic, non emotional or sentimental, and overall confident and loyal. All of these factors help determine whether or not someone is a code hero and greatly support the idea that Samuel Adams is a code hero. (Colvert 374). Samuel Adams was a key figure of the revolution, taking part in many political events. At a young age, Adams followed in his father s footsteps through the new world of politics in America. He joined several political groups in his hometown of Boston, including the Massachusetts assembly, the Boston town meeting, and the Boston Sons of Liberty. Throughout the revolution, Adams continued to support the town of Boston as a spokesperson and organizer of several committees and meetings. During this time, many other highly valued political figures praised Adams, including Thomas Jefferson, who referred to him as, The man of the revolution and his own cousin, John Adams. John Adams once wrote, He was born and tempered a wedge of steel to split the knot of lignum vitae that tied North America to Great Britain. (Maier 13). • 8. Euthanasia Should Be Allowed To Die Research Paper To have the right to be assisted to die or to not have the right to be assisted to die, that is the question. An individual can have their lives turn upside down with merely a sentence being told to them. With the countless procedures performed, we are lament to say, there is no cure. Just with fourteen words being said, all hope is lost. What is the point of living on if all that is being felt is pure utter pain? These individuals that have already been told they have a terminal illness should be given their rights to end their lives. Being exempt from pure excruciating and unbearable pain is immoral; having said that, doctors should allow their patients to commit assisted suicide. Differentiating between euthanasia and assisted suicide is essential when discussing the right to die. When a third party has performed the last act in the patient s death, euthanasia has occurred. When a lethal injection is presented to the patient and the patient decides to insert it into their veins, assisted suicide has been partaken. The patient should have a right to decide whether or not they would like to continue living or perish. The doctor should not be the one in control when advocating the decision their patient would like to commit. Euthanasia makes the doctor the primary source to what should happen with their patient. Assisted suicide should be promoted instead of Euthanasia due to the fact that the patient overall decides their final fate. In the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay about The Autobiography of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X The Autobiography of Malcolm X is the story of Malcolm X, an African American male growing up in the United States in the mid 1900 s. At this time in America prejudice and segregation were widespread and much a part of everyday life. Malcolm takes the reader through his experiences with American society, which rejects him. This rejection, along with the inferiority cast upon all Black Americans, forces these males to search for acceptance. They are forced to search for purpose in causes greater than single individuals. With Malcolm s imprisonment ended the acceptance of the ghetto hustler and gangster life. In prison Malcolm had to find a new place to turn for acceptance. The religion he turned to, The Nation of Islam or more commonly known as the Black Muslims, were a group of African Americans who believed, among other things, that whites were the roots of evil. Malcolm became immersed in his religion. It seeped into every part of his life. For the next years I was the nearest thing to a hermit in the Norfolk Prison Colony. I have never been more busy in my life (173). Malcolm wrote many letters to family and friends about his new found faith and , most importantly, he found the acceptance he longed for with the teachings of Mr. Muhammad. This acceptance gave him purpose and after his release Malcolm became one of the foremost representatives of the Nation of Islam. After Malcolm separated from the Nation of Islam, part by choice but part by force, he had to turn elsewhere for the acceptance and purpose, which all African American males needed at this time. • 12. Essay on Artillery and Weapons of the Civil War Every war, though happens for a reason and bring a better change, is often gruesome. The Civil War broke America in two groups and, at the time, was the war with the most casualties and injured men. As the fight to preserve the Union progressed, so did a number of other areas, such as weaponry and artillery. The advanced technology produced through the Civil War assisted in increasing number of casualties. The North was more fortuitous than the South in multitudinous ways. One of which includes the fact that their industrial society allowed them to produce a larger amount of weapons of a higher quality. One of the major reasons the Union triumphantly defeated the Confederate army was because of their more superior types of weapons. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unfortunately, the South had a large disadvantage in this area. The Confederacy was dependent on stolen weapons to fight in the war (Morgan). Although the South advanced in agriculture, this did not assist them in producing a high quality and quantity of weaponry and artillery. Artillery caused a greater commotion than weaponry amongst people. It was better at targeting and accurately shooting targets. The Parrott rifle, as previously mentioned, was used frequently yet was unpopular amongst the soldiers. As a solution, the 3 inch Ordnance replaced the Parrott rifle. This cannon was more accurate and had a longer range, up to about 2,300 yards. It was a hundred pounds lighter than the Parrott. The Union army produced about a thousand Ordnances. Lacking the technology, the Confederates did not and could not produce them. However, the Ordnance was unnecessary during most battles since the shooter had to see his target in order to shoot with any accuracy (Morgan). The Ordnance, though not necessary, was a commonly used weapon. In order to solve the flaws of the Ordnance, the Napoleon was created. It is believed that the Napoleon was the cause of more artillery casualties than all the other models combined during the Civil War. It could fire as far as 1700 yards, but was deadly accurate within a range of 300 yards. The Napoleon was a favorite amongst some Northern artillerists because of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Summary Of The Laughing Heart And The Journey Life is full of decision making, and many obstacles that will come in your way to try and stop your path and prevent you from achieving what you must achieve. In the poems A Laughing Heart, by Charles Bukowski, and The Journey, by Mary Oliver, the authors both meet at describing what life is like and how to live life like the fullest, even though there will be things to stop you, and you may stop yourself. Both of these poems point out that you have to be the main character in your life, you have to beat everybody or every obstacle that will trouble you, you must overcome it to achieve the highest points of your life. In The Laughing Heart, the author says and the more often you learn to do it, the more light there will be. (14, 15). Charles Bukowski is saying that if you learn to successfully overcome your obstacles, your life will continually get better because there are less problems to face. A similar line in The Journey, is ...as you left their voices behind,/ the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds,/ and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, (24 29). The author is saying that as you started to seize opportunity, solve problems and face challenges in your life, you became stronger, and you became the main character in your life. The theme of these two poems is that your life is your life, and even though you will have to overcome obstacles and face challenges, you must be the main character in your life to live your ... • 14. The Rule Of The King After the failure of the Judges, Israel desired a king, so they could be like all other nations. (1Sam 5:8 paraphrased) Creating a United Monarchy meant many changes would have to take place. At the time Israel had been theocracy and God was their King, however the elders had a different plan. They wanted a king, even if it meant rejecting God. God told Samuel to listen to the people, appoint them a king, but make sure they understand what the king who reigns over them will do Samuel explained to the people that their sons would be part of the army, their children would have to work for the king, they also would have to pay high taxes. The people refused to listen to Samuel. So God gave them a king. The LORD replied, Do as they say, and give them a king. (1 Sam 8:22 NLT) Then Samuel agreed and sent the people home. God was rejected and a human monarchy would now rule Israel. Unknown to the people God had chosen a man to serve as their king. Critics say that the House of Lords ignores the will and opinions of the nation, but in reality it constantly speaks up for the rights of the people, especially when the Commons does not. The Earthā€™s Nuclear Core Essay The Earth s Nuclear Core The Earth s core is like a massive nuclear reactor, burning uranium into lighter elements, and producing much of the geological phenomenon observed on the Earth. This fission reactor is responsible for producing most of the Earth s heat and energy, as well as, the phenomenon of geomagnetism. There is substantial reason to believe that the center of the Earth is a massive nuclear reactor derived from empirical data observed in the earth, and logical evidence to prove that the theory is true. The theory started when geologists in the fifties began whether natural occurring nuclear fission was possible. Eventually, empirical evidence presented itself. Uranium is the heaviest naturally occurring element on Earth and it is common in fission reactions. Early in the Earth s formation, numerous elemental changes were taking place. Some elements would combine with other elements to become stable. In the case of the newly formed Earth, many elements looked for oxygen to become stable. However, early in the formation of the earth there was little oxygen present. That meant that elements that combine with oxygen, such as uranium and magnesium, would have no where to go, but into the Earth s core. It is estimated that from this process, about 64 percent of the earth s uranium actually sank to the Earth s center. If these elements were abundant enough and were allowed to gather over a long period of time they would be able to initiate their own self sustaining fission reactions. Much of what is known about the Earth s nuclear core can be learned from logical, mathematical reasoning. A great deal is understood about radioactive decay, and fission so with basic knowledge of the elemental pieces of the theory it is not difficult to make accurate estimates and predictions about the quantity, and commonality of these processes in the earth. The thirteenth amendment states that neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime of which the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction (Library of Congress). Slavery started in the year 1619 in the Northern American colonies and continued to grow until the nation became divided between those who supported slavery and the others who did not support slavery (History.com Staff, 2009). Slaves were beaten, worked to extreme exhaustion, and never given proper care. Many of these slaves worked the tobacco farms and helped build the economic foundations of the new nation. While this amendment alone was not enough to completely stop slavery, it was a commencement to change the future. For every change, there must be a start, and the thirteenth amendment offered a start to those who endured cruel unequal treatment. • 33. Comparative Analysis Between Three Different Curricula Comparative Analysis between Three Different Curricula: Te Whāriki, New Zealand Curriculum (2007) and Reggio Emilia The history of early childhood in New Zealand Aotearoa is not as extensive as countries such as the United Kingdom though, does not mean it is not complicated. Aotearoa s history of early childhood education (ECE) is deeply entangled within social, cultural and political contexts. These contexts have shaped the mandated and chosen curriculums of ECE today (Duhn, 2009). The 1980 s was a significant era that had fundamental influences on curriculums such as Te Whāriki (1996) and New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) (2007). Within this era, education and care was transformed as the government (of the day) were persuaded to invest more in ECE. This transformation was guided by an ideological shift, hence becoming the period of governmental and economic reform (May, 2004). Anne Meade (1989) depicted Aotearoa to the international community as in the midst of knitting a new early childhood sweater (cited in May 2004, p. 203), in other words, a new curriculum. Reports helped the knitting of the new curriculum through its political pathways. The Education to be More report (Meade Report) described a progressive framework for ECE development focusing on achieving high quality ECE (May, 2004). These are where a person consists of a set of person stages linked by (genuine) memory relations. Memory view is largely made up of genuine and apparent memories although Genuine memory is the same as apparent memory provided that the person with the apparent memory really experienced the event. It is viewed as being something that is purely made up of mental and psychological factors. An example that can be used is that of a rope; a rope is composed of twisted fibres, but no fibre needs to run the whole length of the rope. (1) In this example the rope itself represents the person whilst the fibres are seen to be the memory connections and therefore connect the mental processes. The idea of this example leads from Locke s Theory and is imperative requirement for his theory to work. • 36. Descriptive Essay On Fangirls The inspiration for writing about a fangirl hit me when I realized just how chaotic their obsessive lifestyle is. Spending hours of their day online tweeting about their favorite celebs. Their endless arguing with other fanbases about how they hate each other s idols and claiming their own is more successful. I was a fangirl myself when I was in high school, but not so much now. I am still very aware of just how far things can get when encountering fangirls online and in real life. To those who have yet to come across a fangirl, I will be explaining what a fangirl is by the way they act or how they can be fangirling , what they say or expressions they use, and the stages of fangirls. Typically, a fangirl does not act normal when it comes to famous people, as though they may look normal. They call it fangirling. They go far beyond the normal fan level. They have extreme love or enthusiasm for a person with fame. They enjoy the simple existence of that person. When it comes to the subject of their obsession with a celebrity, expect the unexpected. Any mention or sighting of a celebrity will have them gasping for air, fainting, screaming or squealing while jumping, and last but not least, endless tweeting. Fangirls are determined to buy anything their celebrity comes out with. For example, any magazine Justin Bieber was featured on I had to buy and hang up his poster. • 37. Critical Race Theory And Conflict Theory Paper Critical Race Theory and Conflict Theory Society contains groups with diverse interests, where competing interests encourage conflict (Hutchison, 2013). The racial ideology in the United States is the belief in a hierarchy of races with whites at the top and other races grouped underneath (Robbins, Chatterjee, Canda, 2011). One way minorities are depicted as different from whites is through imagery that creates detachment and seclusion between groups (Ortiz Jani, 2010). Critical Race Theory Critical race theory (CRT) assumes this society was created to empower White people; CRT is focused on transforming the relationships between race and racial power assembled by law and culture (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). This theory suggests that racism is embedded in American society (Helms, 2006), looking at how racial pride in being White can be exhibited in tolerable ways or as White superiority (Delgado Stefancic, 2012). As a post modern theory, CRT encourages structural approach by attending to the problems of a diverse society, instead of purely increasing access to obtainable opportunities and resources (Ortiz Jani, 2011). Government subsidized healthcare coverage eliminates the incentive for lower prices on medical services. The Tipping Point By Malcolm Gladwell Many phenomena exist within the world; whether it be the butterfly effect, the small world theory, or even the laws of gravity, these entities shape reality. In the book The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell analyzes an effect he coins the tipping point . The tipping point essentially is the point at which small, seemingly insignificant changes become significant enough to cause a large and often times important change . Weak ties allow for information to be relayed across clusters of a network. Without the appearance of weak ties, diffusion would be rather difficult to accomplish. The prime example of an individual who possessed many weak ties goes by the name Roger Horchow. In The Tipping Point, Horchow is a master at creating relationships and bonds in areas of life in which he had no real expertise. Horchow had social connections in the arts, technology, agriculture, architecture, business, law, health care, and any other occupational field . Horchow and his social connections were edges in which information could be passed along seamlessly from one cluster to another, making the possibility of a complete cascade much more probable regarding diffusion. Now imagine not having a break at all, having to continuously learn new subjects all year long. Exhausting isn t it? There are some schools where there would be a 3 4 week break in the summer, but the winter break is longer than ours. Personally, I believe that we should keep our summer break the way it is because: both students and teachers deserve a break from school, constantly having new information drilled into your head all year long is bound to put stress on anyone, and there are countless students who depend on summer break to work and/or travel. First off, students and teachers would not be able to stand each other by the end of the year. If the county had all year round school, we would all start resenting each other because of all the time we would be forced to spend together. Also, I know a couple of teachers who gave up one job for being a teacher because of summer break. Circumcision is when the skin that surrounds the tip of the penis is removed. It is a very common surgery in the United States. It is usually done in newborns, but can also be done in older men. Families choose to do circumcision because of personal hygiene, faith, tradition etc. While other families see it as unnecessary. Circumcision makes it easier to wash the penis and keep the area clean. It also decreases the chance of getting infections. The baby will lie on his back and the foreskin will be removed by attaching a Mogen or Gomco clamp to the penis. Ointment and gauze are then used to wrap the penis. An injection with anesthetics or a cream for pain is used first. To distract the infant, sometimes sugar water is also used.
