A Personal Relationship With Jesus
he Origin of a Personal Relationship Concept
Personal relationship with Jesus.
Being an Atheist, I ve had hundreds of arguments with Christians about Jesus and religion in general.
No matter what evidence I provided, the Christian always seemed to bypass it with the Personal
relationship cop out. They would tell me they don t practice religion, and that they have a personal
relationship with Jesus. They would insist that I take five minutes of my time at night and call on
Jesus while I m all alone. Christians believed that Jesus would answer me, and my pathetic life will
never be the same. It dawned on me that they were merely regurgitating what was taught to them by
others. That the Christian didn t really have a personal relationship with Jesus, but a personal
relationship with themselves. Being frustrated with the fact that Christians can actually get away with
not providing substantial evidence, I decided to research the origin of the personal relationship copout.
Who created the concept of a personal relationship? Is the personal relationship copout in the bible?
How old is the concept of a personal relationship? These are the questions that turned on the light bulb
in my head. I just had to research and find out the answers, so here it is.
In the 1200s, St. Gertrude wrote a prayer: let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may be
one, and mine in all things be conformed to Thine. That fits the expression personal relationship with

The world today could be compared to a jigsaw for children in an early years setting. For them jigsaws
can be challenging, they may not know yet what it stands for, why it must be completed or how to
tackle it or even where to start. When I break the analogy down, the pieces could represent the child s
rights, and the selection of jigsaws supplied could stand for the diversity of children, in the same way
the practitioner could symbolise the principles of all the legislations that govern the progression of the
child. In many ways the simple jigsaw could be the meaningful world around the child, and as for

In my setting I display respect for each individual, namely with the children I seek to understand
before being understood. It is incredibly important to gather all the background information about the
children in the setting as well as the current relevant information to incorporate this knowledge before
planning for the individual needs of each child i.e. A child with poor language abilities may need
different types of communication tactics to ensure inclusive learning such as visual stimulation in the
form of demonstrations, videos, pictures or hand gestures.
I value differences by using inclusive practice which involves a lot of detailed planning like
identifying appropriate support during play and encouraging a child to participate as part of a group in
an activity. By making sure I avoid making assumptions I give every child the same opportunities to
gauge their individual development stage and needs as opposed to presuming all children of a certain
age and physicality must be capable i.e. If a child has only one arm or is native to a different country
and therefore does not speak English, they should still be encouraged to take part in activities provided
all necessary planning is in place to suit their unique individual needs, also avoiding isolating them
from the other children.

The Horror Genre Of Horror Films Essay
The horror genre has become a popular genre among the movie industry. It has become a popular
genre since it has been evolving throughout the years it has been around, but one of its major climax
points was when the subgenre of zombies came into the mix. The zombie genre became very popular
in the year 1968 when it was first introduced in George Romero s film Night of the Living Dead.
Night of the Living Dead is one of the most prominent zombie films till this date especially since it
has introduced a new monster into the movie industry that nobody would have expected. Romero s
film intertwines with what Noel Carroll is telling us in his article Why Horror? that it is all about the
monsters that appear in the horror film. Noel Carroll s idea of the monster being the main attraction in
all horror films is somewhat true and it showed it when the audience went to watch the film by George
Romero since he introduced the zombies and it caught the audience curiosity. As soon as he caught the
audiences curiosity with the zombies they would just be focusing on the monster especially trying to
figure out how they came to be and how does one end up destroying them. Andrew Tudor in his article
titled the same as Carroll s has a different approach of explaining horror films, but in some aspect, it
relates to Carroll s claim about the monster that appears in the films. Tudors article is not about the
audiences curiosity to the monster, but about the way the audience sees the

Reflection Class Reflection
This second reflection period has been different from the first in that the defacto divides among those
in the class have been realigned. Furthermore, this reflection period has enabled many factors of my
classmate s identities to become apparent. While I believe the topics were less controversial during
this period, I believe that the selected readings and a greater degree of variation in my classmate s
opinions made this period much more disputed. Additionally, the topics reviewed have ushered to the
forefront several students who until now had remained in the background. I count myself among the
students who became more comfortable and assured during this reflection period. By now, I am pretty
confident that I have gotten to know my classmates well enough to relatively understand the
components of their identities that impact their perspectives. In the same manner, I believe that I have
been able to participate in these topics more frequently and have thus presented more of my own
identity to my classmates. This change in classroom dynamics and the relevance of the readings to my
own identity has thus impacted my ability to be more substantive a key goal I had for this second
reflection period. While my classmates have still occasionally questioned the relevance of my
responses to the readings, I am confident that my participation has greatly increased during this
period.
Regarding the Sex Isn t Gender piece, my classmates commented that my response was very well

Thesis:
Patrice Lumumba was involved in the Pan Africanist movement in positive and negative ways, by
both promoting and negatively connoting its ideology.
Introduction:
A charismatic, dedicated, and zealous leader, Patrice Emery Lumumba (1925 1961) was a civil
servant, activist, and the first democratically elected Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of the

With the help of UN troops, Lumumba was placed under house arrest. However, he escaped to
Stanleyville, with the aim of recovering control by setting up his own government and army.
Lumumba s efforts proved futile when he was captured on December 1, 1960, and taken to Kinshasa
to be tried for inciting the army to rebellion and other crimes, according to rival Joseph Mobutu.
Lumumba was transferred from the military barracks near Leopoldville to the independent province of
Katanga due to perceived threat to his security. Lumumba was brutally beaten and tortured by
Katangan and Belgian officers, while travelling, and was placed under arrest while Katangan leader
Moise Tshombe and his cabinet decided on a course of action. According to Belgian report, Patrice
Lumumba was executed by firing squad on January 17, 1961 at age 35. Lumumba s death was blamed
on enraged villagers , however street protests were organized in several European countries, and the
Belgian embassy in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, was attacked. Crowds also marched in London, protesting

King Kong Film Analysis
King Kong
No film has captivated my imagination more than King Kong. I m making movies today because I
saw this film when I was 9 years old. Peter Jackson
There is bewilderment to decry in Peter Jackson s King Kong, but one progression that is comparably
mellowed and a grip to the key movie s success. Kong has conquered Ann Darrow and carried her to
his landing place, high on the mountain. He laid her down, not roughly, starts to roar, and expose his
teeth and beat his chest. Ann who is an unemployed vaudeville acrobat, in some way naturally knows
that the gorilla is not being aggressive to her, but trying to impress her by acting like an alpha male,
the King of the Jungle. Ann dpoesn t know how a Queen Kong would react, so ... Show more content

Yes, Kong in 1933 responsibility for his imprison, but she doesn t acknowledge it so much for him.
Kong was always misconceive, but in the 2005 film, there is a person who knows it.
As Kong escalates the skyscraper, Ann yells not because of the gorilla but the barrage on the gorilla by
a civilization that speculates that he must be shatter. The movie forms the same somewhat of
transformation compromising an enormous gorilla that Spielberg s Close Encounters of the Third
Kind (1977) did when he replaced 1950s attacks on alien visitors with a very 1970s attempt to
advertise with them (by 2005, Spielberg was behind to charging them, in War of the Worlds ).
King Kong is a brilliant entertainment, it is like the blooming of all the capability in the original
simple film. Computers are used not hardly to design special effects, but also to establish style and
beauty; to discover a look for the film that is capable to the story. The characters are not badge heroes
or criminals identified in blunt sketch, but bizarre entity with charisma.
Acknowledge the change between Robert Armstrong (1933) and Jack Black (2005) as Carl Denham,
the movie director, estates an innocent corps on Skull Island. A Hollywood stereotype located on Cecil
B. DeMille has been replaced by one who points out us more of Orson Welles. And in the leading role
of Ann Darrow, Naomi Watts conveys a dimension of affection that Fay Wray, bless her heart, was
never allowed in 1933. Never have damsels been in

Inventing A Writing Technology Essay examples
Inventing A Writing Technology
According to Walter Ong, an influential scholar of the relationship between technology and media,
Literacy is imperious. It tends to arrogate to itself supreme power by taking itself as normative for
human expression and thought. This is particularly true in high technology cultures, which are built on
literacy of necessity and which encourage the impression that literacy is an always to be expected and
even natural state of affairs (316). Ong would probably agree that literacy is so embedded in our
current technological culture that it has become part of the standard of living, a necessary requirement
for functioning in this highly professionalized world. However, the point of Ong s prior statement ...

Portability was described as the extent to which the text could be moved or carried. Nature referred to
the extent to which the materials used in creating the text and/or writing surface were found in nature
and not manufactured or highly processed. During this experiment, I tried to consider what completely
natural materials I could find. I resorted to using materials found in my backyard including rocks, dirt,
sand, sticks, grass, and leaves. The permanence criterion of the assignment narrowed my choices by
eliminating writing in the dirt, sand, or mud or with grass or leaves. Wind or rain would erase any
writing created using these materials. The issue of portability further narrowed my decision to use a
small, hand held, sharp rock to scrape or chisel words into a larger stone which was able to be carried.
The stone needed to have a writing surface large enough to chisel words but not so large that it could
not be easily transported. All in all, inventing a technology which was creative was somewhat of a
problem when considering permanence and portability and was overlooked as a criterion.
Although the solution to the assignment may sound easy, the creation process was actually very
challenging. One reason may be that Oral speech is fully natural to human beings in the sense that
every human being in every culture who is not physiologically or psychologically impaired learns to
talk (Ong, 322). In U.S. culture, oral speech and writing are

Pride In The Song Of Roland And Beowulf
Pride usually carries negative connotations. It is an arrogant, malicious trait which can lead to a person
s ruin. Pride, however, can also be a source of positive motivation. It can encourage its host to perform
great feats and thus obtain honor. This duality possessed by pride can be examined in two famous
Medieval poems, The Song of Roland and Beowulf. The protagonists of both poems suffer their
demise because of their insatiable pride. However, in both works, this hubris is perceived differently.
Indeed, Roland s pride causes the death of the forty thousand men encompassing the rearguard army,
and yet no resentment is shown towards him. On the contrary, he is buried and honored like a saint,
the holiest of heroes. Beowulf disregards exhortations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Heaven swallowed the smoke. (Beowulf, ll. 3151 55)
In this harrowing lament, there is no inherent sorrow for the loss of Beowulf s life. The pain felt by the
Geats is selfish and they have no other choice but to be selfish. They are completely alone, left in a
mortal coil of despair, without any sanctuary, hope or release. The sentence Heaven swallowed the
smoke is an allusion to this very idea, for Beowulf, now made smoke by the crimson fire of the pyre,
has forsaken his Geatland for the next life. This abandonment is a direct cause of his stubborn,
insatiable pride and the Geats are aware of this.
This resentment is apparent in the words of Wiglaf, who reflecting on the way Beowulf died, says,
Often when one man follows his own will, many are hurt. This happened to us. Nothing we advised
could ever convince the prince we loved... (Beowulf, ll. 3077 80) This is not the only mentioning of
the dangers of rigid arrogance, for the poet foreshadows the ruin that will befall the nation due to
Beowulf s foolish ego. While celebrating the defeat of Grendel s mother, Hrothgar interrupts the
cheerful mood of the feast and warns Beowulf of pride and callousness. He gives his own experience
with Grendel as a testament to the horror such arrogance can cause not only to one s self but one s
people. Obviously. Beowulf does not follow the exhortation, and not only does he meet his demise,
but ensures his people s end as

High School Students
Young adults, or adolescents, begin their last four grades of statutory education in a place called high
school. The purpose of this arduous journey is to teach a large range of prosperous skills, information,
and knowledge that will aid students throughout college and ultimately the real world. In the society
we live in today, however, people never question the pressure this quantitative form of education
imposes upon students. This crushing, mortifying stress plummets the mental and physical health of
pupils sometimes to the point of no return. Colleges contribute greatly to this injustice as well: tuition
fees and acceptance rates result being the primary concerns of families across the nation. Today s
society should not endorse the over pressurization of college, as that in return results in the declination
of health of high school students.
¬Stress plagues almost every high school student, and while miniscule amounts may not result in
negative consequences, excessive amounts will (Palmer). Pressure by parents and schools to achieve
top scores has created stress levels among students beginning as early as elementary school that are so
high that some educators regard it as a health epidemic, stated Denise Clark Pope, a lecturer in the
School of Education and author of Doing School: How We Are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out,
Materialistic and Miseducated Students. Societal pressure about achieving high quality grades
originates as far back as elementary school,

When Roxanna takes the kids to show them the fire pit, she helps them get there safely. After getting
out of the car, they see a gibbous moon which showed us a white hillside up which Roxanna led us

Reuben and Swede. She has what is called mother s intuition, which means she knows when

What Are The Social Attitudes In The Perks Of Being A...
Stephen Chbosky s The Perks of Being a Wallflower shows some very progressive views relating to
our current social attitudes. Knowing that he is an advocate for LGBT rights, I can understand why he
is writing about the events that he does. He can use the element of time to his advantage as well by
showing the exact time because each letter in the book starts with a date. Readers are able to gather
precisely what part of his life we are experiencing in the story. The author also grows antagonists that
aren t necessarily palpable, as I believe it is either Charlie s own subconscious or the mostly ignorant
society he lives in. Stephen Chbosky is an avid supporter of LGBT people s rights and respect. You
can see his own opinions on matters like this one in his book. Charlie s best friend, Patrick, is gay and
in his school, especially by the football players, that is not socially acceptable. When Charlie walks in
on Patrick and Brad, a member of the football team, making out in a closet at a party the problem
starts to get addressed in the novel. We learn that Brad wants to hide his relationship with Patrick
because he is worried about what other people will think. He knows that if the football team found
out, he would be persecuted by his peers. Chbosky makes it clear what side of the issue he stands on

I think Charlie s villain is his own subconscious. He has trouble throughout the story with letting
himself out and participating in the things around him. Charlie also hides things from himself; he was

Charlemagne s rule lasted from 768 814 AD. He was king of the Franks from 768 814, king of the

When Pope Leo III was ambushed by a group of Roman aristocrat rivals, he summoned Charlemagne
for help, because he could no longer fend off his enemies in the city. After Charlemagne calmed
representatives from both sides and restored Leo to power, the pope wanted to show his gratitude. He
called Charlemagne to St. Peter s Cathedral in Rome on Christmas day 800. Charlemagne was
kneeling before the altar in prayer when Pope Leo III approached him from behind and placed the
imperial crown on his head. It was then that Charlemagne received the title Charles Augustus,
Emperor of the Romans. Leo placed the jeweled crown on Charlemagne s head, and from then on, he
was hailed the king. However, Charlemagne was not very much interested in Pope Leo s offering. Had
Charlemagne known what was to happen on that Christmas day, he never would have attended the

Is a woman worth dying for? The short story Spunk was written in 1925. Some of Hurston s other
important works are Their Eyes Were Watching God , Mules of Men , Sweat. Hurston is known to

about African Americans cultures and beliefs in society. Joe and Spunk fight over Lena s love which

The most significant words are bravery and courage but for Joe to overcome his fear and fight the
bigger man was an act of courage ( Spunk ). The author is explaining the theme of bravery from that

Spunk is explaining the scene to everyone in the room He sneaked up an tried to kill me from the

Differing Opinions on the Controversial Death Penalty...
The issue of capital punishment is one that has been in discussion for many years. How can anyone
control the life of another human being? The accused may have taken the life of another citizen but
what gives anyone the right to take his. This is the main point of the question but it gets vastly more
complicated as the issue is further investigated. For instance, the psychopath who goes on a murderous
rampage might have an abnormality with the frontal lobe of the cortex in his brain. Now, if this is the
case this person may not be able to control his murderous impulses. So, should this person be
punished, and not only should he or she be punished but should the punishment be done for
retribution? After all, most punishment is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course there is the old argument that capital punishment legalizes killing. This holds no ground.
The person who committed a crime deserves to be punished. But, which punishment is worse, life in
prison or death? The criminal sentenced to death most likely suffers more waiting for his death
sentence to be carried out than did the person he murdered. Although this it not positively known. The
next part of this discussion will be carried out by Christopher W. Morris. One must first understand
what justice is compared to benevolence. The standard distinction is to understand justice to pertain to
what individuals are owed, to what they may claim, to what they have a right. (Morris, 273)
Benevolence is concerned with the well being of the accused. Justice is the more important of these
two issues. A moral object is that which is receiving the moral consideration and to achieve moral
standing is to be owed moral consideration, hence be a direct moral object. Having moral standing is a
relation; something has moral standing in its relation to some other entity(ies). (Morris, 274)
Criminals forfeit their moral standing in civilization. They do pay the same moral consideration to
others so the moral consideration to them should be lost. The accused did not respect this social
contract and so this should not be respected upon them. The last part of this discussion will be

Moral Dilemmas Of The Louisiana Purchase
The Louisiana Purchase posed several significant moral dilemmas for President Thomas
Jefferson, among these were he believed that federal government should not practice any powers those
were not granted by the Constitution. On other hand he stepped up to buy
Louisiana territory and he desperately tried to get the Louisiana territory for the new nation but he was
not granted evidently to do so under the Constitution. Ultimately, Jefferson was able to make it
happened to purchase the Louisiana territory. According to his decisions, he was capable of classifying
his beliefs and actions and the significance of Louisiana Purchase he posted on national expansion.
Jefferson believed in keeping the United States as agricultural land, and that s for it required to expand
the United States geographically to keep a principled republic. Some people believed that if United
States could get too large the republics would not be able to act properly, and unquestionable
disagreed. It might be right or wrong even you could say it was constitutional or not, personally I
believe that the purchase of Louisiana territory was a conclusive attempt of Thomas Jefferson and that
made the nation s expansion. In addition, it brought up the platform for the settlement and gained the
Southwest and the
Oregon County.

learned that these feelings were misdirected and wrong. It was as though certain people, those of a
different race and nationally, were robbed of their human rights and cast in the role of criminals solely
because of their culture and the acts of groups they likely did not know. In the calm aftermath and a
chance to reflect on this behaviour some American officials admitted that Abu Ghraib was the
functional equivalent of the 9/11 attack, only committed this time by the United States (Greenberg
2005: 98).
Prior to 9/11there had been various terrorist attacks on Americans around the world and on American
soil. However the events of September 11 intensely changed the United States Government s approach
towards terrorism. After September 11, the Bush Administration changed the previous American
approach, which had primarily employed the combined tools of diplomatic cooperation, economic
sanctions, and internationally coordinated law enforcement measures (Lee 2007: 137). Instead, the
President declared in the aftermath of September 11 that the United States was engaged in a war on
terrorism. In this war all terrorists who plotted against the United States and those who supported them
were subject to American justice. This new

Strictly Ballroom Analysis
In Strictly Ballroom everybody is trying to find out where they stand and where they fit. The Anglo
ballroom world is made up of lower middle class people, who run small businesses and dance schools.
Championships are their way to become famous, to fulfill aspirations they can never satisfy in their
normal lives. A lot is at stake and that is why it is important that everybody knows the rules and doesn
t break them. Overstepping the mark is a major offense. When Scott first tries his own dances, his

Juxtaposition In A Modern Proposal
Swift when faced with a humanitarian crisis, a tyrannical English Empire, and a strong divide between
social classes, uses his pent up agitation to develop a piece of satire which both compels and shocks
those who read his work. A Modern Proposal is centered around the idea of cannibalism. In Swift s
reformation of Irish society a new division of laborers would be created labeled breeders . These
breeders would raise infants to the ripe age of one, and then sell them to the wealthy to be slaughtered,
served and possibly made into apparel. Throughout his proposal Swift uses comic juxtaposition and
grotesque elements to further convey his criticism of Ireland. By comparing the lower class breeders
and their children to animals, Swift uses comic juxtaposition to hone in on the notion that the
impoverished people in society have long been denied the humanity the wealthy pride themselves on.
No longer being seen as meaningful, important human beings, the poor are left begging for the respect
that comes with money. Pregnant woman seen as being mere vessels for produce in his imaginary
world, are compared to cows saying Men would become as fond of their wives during the time of their
pregnancy as they are now of their mares in foal, their cows in calf, their sows when they are ready to

into the responsibilities and vulnerabilities associated with womanhood. Swift futher s his

The Death Penalty Was Furman V. Georgia Essay
As society has evolved, the way the death penalty has been implemented has also evolved sometimes
against the words of our Constitution. One of the more influential cases that transformed how people
view the death penalty was Furman v. Georgia. This case set up a guide for limited sentencing
discretion; this meant that sentencing for the death penalty would become standardized. Essentially in
extreme cases, every criminal death qualified would be sent to death row and eventually executed.
After disputes after Furman, cases like Woodson v. North Carolina insisted on individualized
discretion when discussing the death penalty. Those in favor of Woodson believed that character ad
record of an individual must be accounted especially when discussing life or death (Woodson 238). In
Walton v. Arizona, Justice Scalia and Justice Blackburn dispute over the rationality of limited
discretion v individualized discretion. Although each presents his case differently, both agree about the
tension between the Furman s promotion for limited discretion and Woodson s idea of individualized
sentencing discretion. In accordance with the Constitution, both Furman v. Georgia and Woodson v.
North Carolina violated the Eighth Amendment in their respective ways but the current system (in
terms of capital punishment provides a loose balance that ensures both the uniqueness of human
beings as well as limits arbitrariness.
Pre Furman v. Georgia, flaws within capital punishment gave way to

Samago Blindness Quotes
In the very beginning of the novel before the story even starts Saramago stats a quote from the Book
of Exhortations If you can see, look. If you can look, observe. The white blindness was used as a
metaphor in the novel for that a country that can not see is one that can no longer look or observe what
is around them. Stripped of an ability, then is forced to change and adapt, turning on survival mode,
stressful nights, these are some of what teenagers do while they re in high school. Saramago shows
how certain social barriers such as age, class and race, for instance, can easily be stripped away if
given the proper circumstances. Blindness should be integrated within the sophomore curriculum as it,

Jeremy Bentham and John Stewart Mill
Bentham/ J.S Mill
According to Jeremy Bentham s principle of utility, actions are right when they increase happiness and
diminish misery. (Bentham, pg. 101) With this, Bentham is described as a hedonistic utilitarian,
meaning his theoretical objectives consist of the pursuit of happiness/pleasure and the avoidance of
pain. Hedonists also believe in quantifying happiness. Bentham developed the formula of the calculus
of felicity (hedonistic calculus) in order for one to analyze an act in terms of the pleasure it will
produce when applied to utilitarian criteria. (Bentham, pg. 270) Bentham intended this grouping of
circumstances to be applied when considering all acts. The seven categories defined by Bentham are:
Intensity, Duration, Certainty, Proximity, Fecundity, Purity, and Extent. The benefit of using utilitarian
criteria for determining the value of pleasure is that it presents several perspectives of pleasure. The
primary advantage of calculus of felicity using utilitarian criteria is that the pleasure obtained from all
different acts or sources is to be measured in the same way. Universal application of this measurement
implies that there is no additional value to acts that are deemed more moral or intellectual.
John Stuart Mill is an advocate of the principle of utility and believed the ideology behind achieving
happiness was acting in favor of the highest good. He presented his theory of Utilitarianism as the
standard of morality, which

Events Industry s Impact on Regional Development
After researching the impacts events have on regional development I have come to agree with the
statement The events industry is an effective and appropriate vehicle for facilitation of regional
development . The significance of this thesis is to critically discuss and demonstrate an understanding
of the relationship between the events industry and regional development while also providing an
understanding of the history of events and the increasing significance of the event industry in
contemporary society. Real life examples from around the world are used to recognize and justify the

Natalie Portman For Dior Analysis
This photo of Natalie Portman for Dior is a good example of Photoshop. Her eyelashes were
admittedly Photoshopped when questioned by the ASA* of the U.K. who refused to allow the Dior ad
to publish in their country. Celebs use it all the time to create that perfect other worldly look to their
bodies and faces. Sometimes that is a bad thing though. So many women have lower self esteem due
to this simple smoke and mirrors effect of Photoshop. What I find interesting is America is very pro
Photoshop in nearly every single magazine, ad, etc. However in the U.K. you will often see people
without any editing done to their faces. It is such a stark contrast. I think it s better to have natural
faces in magazines so we all know

accomplishments both on and off the battlefield, but some of his accomplishments were much greater

Bernie Sanders in his early life grew up in New York and his father being occupied with his position
as a paint salesman gave Bernie a life in a struggling working class family. We must first understand
where Sanders is coming from, his childhood memory is vast of struggle and he s noticed during his
campaign run the large amounts of money being invested in each candidate. He seeks for America
being how it was first was with the public doing all the investments and not these largely owned
corporations and lobbying voters which have been already have a vote decision made by the

corporations and wealthy individuals invest their money on the presidential campaign.
This has almost succeeded in the past and is known as the Buckley V. Valeo case in 1976. The case
struck down on the limits of spending in campaigns, but upheld the provision limiting size of each

How to Buy Stylish Beach Dresses
Going to the beach requires a special kind of attire. Although wearing a bathing suit makes sense,
some people prefer to cover up at least part of the time. This is where cute and stylish beach dresses
come into play. They feature lightweight materials, short lengths, and attractive designs, and they keep
the body covered just enough to make women feel comfortable without needlessly weighing them
down in yards of material.
Beach Kaftans
The kaftan is the epitome of feminine beauty. The style originated in Pakistan, Persia, and other
Middle Eastern countries. The original kaftan dresses were full length with yards of flowing,
lightweight fabric. Beach kaftans, however, are much shorter and have less fabric. Some are even see
through, which is perfectly suitable when worn over a bathing suit. Some beach dresses have large
pockets that blend into the sides, and most beach kaftans have sleeves that reach the elbows and
billow out. They come in all sorts of vibrant colours and patterns for the summer.

The Rise Of Chin China
THE RISE OF CHINA IN INTERNATIONAL RELATION THEORIES INTRODUCTION It is not
until today that we see China as a rising power, so powerful that could shake the core of global
system. Recent resilient economic growth and other development indexes have been widely quoted in
thousands of political writings as the prominent evidence alarming about upcoming systemic changes .
In fact, while Europe was still in the shadow of Dark Ages, China was inventing compass, gunpowder,
paper and printing technology. While Penicillin was discovered in 1897 by Ernest Duchesne and later
Alexander Fleming, China has been using soybean mold as antibiotic measure for already two
thousand years. This is explicitly to say that the preeminence Chinese power is not a modern issue
emerged from Mao to Xi period, from Long March iconic leaders to modern ambitious technocrats.
During colonization period, the West has been constantly disregarding the strength of China and this
only changed dramatically after 1976 when Mao death triggered a new period filling with economic
successes. With very recent understanding of China as an important actor capable of upsetting the
status quo of global system, realists are assuming potential war between China and the US, even an all
out nuclear escalation is possible and containing China is the only strategy. The miraculous growth of
Chinese economy, technological and industrial wealth, according to them, pose a great threat to
traditional order.

How To Use Juche Ideology In North Korea
Education is controlled by the government in North Korea, thus, the student is regularly taught about
the Juche ideology or how great their Leader are, besides the basic subjects such as mathematics,
science or literature. The purpose is to brainwash the young generation, to make them realize how
good their government is, what contribution that Kim Jong II and Kim II Sung did for the country,
even though in the classrooms, there are always two portraits of these leaders to remind people the
significance of them. In addition, many students in North Korea have admired their leaders as great
examples of study and good characteristics. By teaching the Juche ideology, the government hopes
students will acknowledge the critical impacts of Communism and Kim II Sung s ideology on the
North Korea success (Macias, 2014). As a result, the students love working for the government ...

Ethos Pathos Logos In Julius Caesar
In Julius Caesar by Shakespeare there are three persuasions, these persuasions are called logos, ethos,
and pathos. Logos, pathos, and ethos are three utensils used by Shakespeare in Caesar s funeral
presented by Mark Antony. Ethos is appeal based on the character of the speaker, Logos is appeal
based on logic or reason and Pathos is appeal based on emotion (Examples). Antony uses these three
utensils to turn the Roman crowd of citizens against the conspirators with an exciting persuasive
speech.
What does logos mean? Logos can be facts that are used to persuade someone (Ethos). Mark Antony
uses many facts throughout his speech. One of the key facts in his speech is; When that the poor have
cried, Caesar hath wept (Shakespeare). To use this is extremely intelligent by Mark Antony since most
of the people that he is trying to persuade aren t the richest people in Rome. Therefor, when he uses
poor as the type of people that Caesar cried for, the crowd thinks that it is wrong to brutally murder
someone who cared so much for them that they opened their eyes to Mark Antony and really took in
what he was saying by thinking that Caesar was the best thing for them (Shakespeare). ... Show more

The Tulsa Race Riot Of 1921
The Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 was the culmination of racial tensions both endemic in American society
as a whole in the period, and certain tensions peculiar to Tulsa, Oklahoma. In 1921, Greenwood and
its African American population became the outlet for these often violent tensions seething among
Tulsa s white population. The following paper seeks to shed some further understanding on what
motivated and pushed the whites of Tulsa, Oklahoma to such a violent, extreme reaction during the
riot.
To answer the question, Why were the whites so mean? it is necessary to understand the pre existing
conditions that existed in Tulsa, Oklahoma before the actual riot took place in 1921.
Pre existing racism in Tulsa was the foundation on which all the other causes of the riot were built
upon. Wide spread segregation was still common in America at that time and it was accepted by many
in the North and South that whites were inherently superior to blacks. These views were particularly
strong in the South, where emancipated blacks were seen as a threat and scourge to white Southern
culture, a culture which was utterly dominated by whites and where blacks were oppressed with no
hope of equal protection under the law, equal representation, etc. This was also the case in Tulsa in the
early 1900s. Blacks were segregated against by the white residents and as a consequence formed their
own community, called Greenwood, on the north side of the Frisco Railroad tracks, which was
heralded by

Hospital During The Civil War Essay
At the start of the Civil War, the way hospitals were organized and took care of their patients was
disastrous in every single aspect of its supposedly well thought out system. To be fair, the shelling of
Fort Sumter caught both parties involved quite unprepared for the catastrophic number of casualties to
occur. No military leader or general surgeon had planned for such a large scale conflict. Even in times
when the war seemed to lull in its rhythmic pace, the Medical Department was greatly understaffed
and overworked. Only 114 doctors served the 16,000 men serving in the U.S. Army in 1861, mostly in
garrison hospitals. After battles, surgeons set up hospitals near the battlefield to care for patients until
they had recovered sufficiently enough to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Today, historians credit Johnathan Letterman for the success of the hospital organization during the
Civil War. If it were not for Letterman s plan, then the set up of how hospitals are organized would not
be the way it is today. Hospitals nowadays tend to their patients faster. If patients do not directly come
to hospitals, ambulances are now ready to attend to a patient s needs at any time or any day. Treatment
also improved. The conditions in which surgery was performed in was downright terrible and crude.
Today, patients are met with comfy beds and clean, sanitary environments to be treated in. The Civil
War was a starting point or trigger for the medical field to improve upon their work and set up an
organized and knowledgeable field of medicine for future generations to come. Overall, the Civil War
made the hospital system more organized and allowed for patients to access care more quickly and
efficiently and set the precedents for future aspiring doctors to follow in order to care for patients and
give them the treatment they

Lynch mob
After the news of the rustling of Drew s cattle and the murder of one of the rancher, Kinkaid, the mob
gets infuriated and decides to catch the culprit and hence, do justice. Though, aware of the
consequences of such posse, they agree to be a part of it because now they had someone to blame on if
something went wrong. There were people in the posse who opposed the lynching but any way went
ahead with due to the fear of rejection form the society or because they lacked the conscious to keep a
check on such an act.
Lynch mob as a literal concept is self evident. Clark uses the mob as a form of criticism against the
lynching that occurred in 1870 s to 1960 s in the southern United States against the African American
citizens. He also uses it to symbolise the corruption and the power play of the white in establishing the

He feels that law and justice are important to sustain a society and they must reflect the moral
conscience of the individuals. Conclusion The novel, The Ox Bow Incident, can be read at many
levels.
At one level, it deals with the inadequacies of the law in addressing to the question of justice and at
the same time highlights the importance of the law in a society as even in presence of inadequacies,
law is needed as it is better than a state of lawlessness.
Another interesting view put forth is that justice may not necessarily mean taking revenge and
punishing those who go against the society but it means that in doing so, the innocent must not suffer
and that every accused must be given an opportunity to fair trial and fair procedure in determination of
their guilt.
It also deals with the questions of morality and psychology of a person who assumes the position of
the judge while offering to judge the innocence or guilt of the accused and how the final holding is
affected by the subjective conscience of the

  • 2. A Personal Relationship With Jesus he Origin of a Personal Relationship Concept Personal relationship with Jesus. Being an Atheist, I ve had hundreds of arguments with Christians about Jesus and religion in general. No matter what evidence I provided, the Christian always seemed to bypass it with the Personal relationship cop out. They would tell me they don t practice religion, and that they have a personal relationship with Jesus. They would insist that I take five minutes of my time at night and call on Jesus while I m all alone. Christians believed that Jesus would answer me, and my pathetic life will never be the same. It dawned on me that they were merely regurgitating what was taught to them by others. That the Christian didn t really have a personal relationship with Jesus, but a personal relationship with themselves. Being frustrated with the fact that Christians can actually get away with not providing substantial evidence, I decided to research the origin of the personal relationship copout. Who created the concept of a personal relationship? Is the personal relationship copout in the bible? How old is the concept of a personal relationship? These are the questions that turned on the light bulb in my head. I just had to research and find out the answers, so here it is. In the 1200s, St. Gertrude wrote a prayer: let my heart be so united with Thine, that our wills may be one, and mine in all things be conformed to Thine. That fits the expression personal relationship with Jesus to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For them jigsaws can be challenging, they may not know yet what it stands for, why it must be completed or how to tackle it or even where to start. When I break the analogy down, the pieces could represent the child s rights, and the selection of jigsaws supplied could stand for the diversity of children, in the same way the practitioner could symbolise the principles of all the legislations that govern the progression of the child. In many ways the simple jigsaw could be the meaningful world around the child, and as for many children around the world they do not yet know their role as an ... E5 In my setting I display respect for each individual, namely with the children I seek to understand before being understood. It is incredibly important to gather all the background information about the children in the setting as well as the current relevant information to incorporate this knowledge before planning for the individual needs of each child i.e. A child with poor language abilities may need different types of communication tactics to ensure inclusive learning such as visual stimulation in the form of demonstrations, videos, pictures or hand gestures. I value differences by using inclusive practice which involves a lot of detailed planning like identifying appropriate support during play and encouraging a child to participate as part of a group in an activity. By making sure I avoid making assumptions I give every child the same opportunities to gauge their individual development stage and needs as opposed to presuming all children of a certain age and physicality must be capable i.e. If a child has only one arm or is native to a different country and therefore does not speak English, they should still be encouraged to take part in activities provided all necessary planning is in place to suit their unique individual needs, also avoiding isolating them from the other children. • 4. The Horror Genre Of Horror Films Essay The horror genre has become a popular genre among the movie industry. It has become a popular genre since it has been evolving throughout the years it has been around, but one of its major climax points was when the subgenre of zombies came into the mix. The zombie genre became very popular in the year 1968 when it was first introduced in George Romero s film Night of the Living Dead. Night of the Living Dead is one of the most prominent zombie films till this date especially since it has introduced a new monster into the movie industry that nobody would have expected. Romero s film intertwines with what Noel Carroll is telling us in his article Why Horror? that it is all about the monsters that appear in the horror film. Noel Carroll s idea of the monster being the main attraction in all horror films is somewhat true and it showed it when the audience went to watch the film by George Romero since he introduced the zombies and it caught the audience curiosity. As soon as he caught the audiences curiosity with the zombies they would just be focusing on the monster especially trying to figure out how they came to be and how does one end up destroying them. Andrew Tudor in his article titled the same as Carroll s has a different approach of explaining horror films, but in some aspect, it relates to Carroll s claim about the monster that appears in the films. Tudors article is not about the audiences curiosity to the monster, but about the way the audience sees the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Reflection Class Reflection This second reflection period has been different from the first in that the defacto divides among those in the class have been realigned. Furthermore, this reflection period has enabled many factors of my classmate s identities to become apparent. While I believe the topics were less controversial during this period, I believe that the selected readings and a greater degree of variation in my classmate s opinions made this period much more disputed. Additionally, the topics reviewed have ushered to the forefront several students who until now had remained in the background. I count myself among the students who became more comfortable and assured during this reflection period. By now, I am pretty confident that I have gotten to know my classmates well enough to relatively understand the components of their identities that impact their perspectives. In the same manner, I believe that I have been able to participate in these topics more frequently and have thus presented more of my own identity to my classmates. This change in classroom dynamics and the relevance of the readings to my own identity has thus impacted my ability to be more substantive a key goal I had for this second reflection period. While my classmates have still occasionally questioned the relevance of my responses to the readings, I am confident that my participation has greatly increased during this period. Lumumba was transferred from the military barracks near Leopoldville to the independent province of Katanga due to perceived threat to his security. Lumumba was brutally beaten and tortured by Katangan and Belgian officers, while travelling, and was placed under arrest while Katangan leader Moise Tshombe and his cabinet decided on a course of action. Peter Jackson There is bewilderment to decry in Peter Jackson s King Kong, but one progression that is comparably mellowed and a grip to the key movie s success. Kong has conquered Ann Darrow and carried her to his landing place, high on the mountain. He laid her down, not roughly, starts to roar, and expose his teeth and beat his chest. Ann who is an unemployed vaudeville acrobat, in some way naturally knows that the gorilla is not being aggressive to her, but trying to impress her by acting like an alpha male, the King of the Jungle. Kong was always misconceive, but in the 2005 film, there is a person who knows it. As Kong escalates the skyscraper, Ann yells not because of the gorilla but the barrage on the gorilla by a civilization that speculates that he must be shatter. The movie forms the same somewhat of transformation compromising an enormous gorilla that Spielberg s Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) did when he replaced 1950s attacks on alien visitors with a very 1970s attempt to advertise with them (by 2005, Spielberg was behind to charging them, in War of the Worlds ). King Kong is a brilliant entertainment, it is like the blooming of all the capability in the original simple film. Computers are used not hardly to design special effects, but also to establish style and beauty; to discover a look for the film that is capable to the story. The characters are not badge heroes or criminals identified in blunt sketch, but bizarre entity with charisma. Acknowledge the change between Robert Armstrong (1933) and Jack Black (2005) as Carl Denham, the movie director, estates an innocent corps on Skull Island. A Hollywood stereotype located on Cecil B. • 8. Inventing A Writing Technology Essay examples Inventing A Writing Technology According to Walter Ong, an influential scholar of the relationship between technology and media, Literacy is imperious. It tends to arrogate to itself supreme power by taking itself as normative for human expression and thought. This is particularly true in high technology cultures, which are built on literacy of necessity and which encourage the impression that literacy is an always to be expected and even natural state of affairs (316). Ong would probably agree that literacy is so embedded in our current technological culture that it has become part of the standard of living, a necessary requirement for functioning in this highly professionalized world. However, the point of Ong s prior statement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Portability was described as the extent to which the text could be moved or carried. Nature referred to the extent to which the materials used in creating the text and/or writing surface were found in nature and not manufactured or highly processed. During this experiment, I tried to consider what completely natural materials I could find. I resorted to using materials found in my backyard including rocks, dirt, sand, sticks, grass, and leaves. The permanence criterion of the assignment narrowed my choices by eliminating writing in the dirt, sand, or mud or with grass or leaves. Wind or rain would erase any writing created using these materials. The issue of portability further narrowed my decision to use a small, hand held, sharp rock to scrape or chisel words into a larger stone which was able to be carried. The stone needed to have a writing surface large enough to chisel words but not so large that it could not be easily transported. All in all, inventing a technology which was creative was somewhat of a problem when considering permanence and portability and was overlooked as a criterion. Although the solution to the assignment may sound easy, the creation process was actually very challenging. One reason may be that Oral speech is fully natural to human beings in the sense that every human being in every culture who is not physiologically or psychologically impaired learns to talk (Ong, 322). In U.S. culture, oral speech and writing are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Pride In The Song Of Roland And Beowulf Pride usually carries negative connotations. It is an arrogant, malicious trait which can lead to a person s ruin. Pride, however, can also be a source of positive motivation. It can encourage its host to perform great feats and thus obtain honor. This duality possessed by pride can be examined in two famous Medieval poems, The Song of Roland and Beowulf. The protagonists of both poems suffer their demise because of their insatiable pride. However, in both works, this hubris is perceived differently. Indeed, Roland s pride causes the death of the forty thousand men encompassing the rearguard army, and yet no resentment is shown towards him. On the contrary, he is buried and honored like a saint, the holiest of heroes. Beowulf disregards exhortations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Heaven swallowed the smoke. (Beowulf, ll. 3151 55) In this harrowing lament, there is no inherent sorrow for the loss of Beowulf s life. The pain felt by the Geats is selfish and they have no other choice but to be selfish. They are completely alone, left in a mortal coil of despair, without any sanctuary, hope or release. The sentence Heaven swallowed the smoke is an allusion to this very idea, for Beowulf, now made smoke by the crimson fire of the pyre, has forsaken his Geatland for the next life. This abandonment is a direct cause of his stubborn, insatiable pride and the Geats are aware of this. This resentment is apparent in the words of Wiglaf, who reflecting on the way Beowulf died, says, Often when one man follows his own will, many are hurt. This happened to us. Nothing we advised could ever convince the prince we loved... (Beowulf, ll. 3077 80) This is not the only mentioning of the dangers of rigid arrogance, for the poet foreshadows the ruin that will befall the nation due to Beowulf s foolish ego. While celebrating the defeat of Grendel s mother, Hrothgar interrupts the cheerful mood of the feast and warns Beowulf of pride and callousness. He gives his own experience with Grendel as a testament to the horror such arrogance can cause not only to one s self but one s people. Obviously. • 10. High School Students Young adults, or adolescents, begin their last four grades of statutory education in a place called high school. The purpose of this arduous journey is to teach a large range of prosperous skills, information, and knowledge that will aid students throughout college and ultimately the real world. In the society we live in today, however, people never question the pressure this quantitative form of education imposes upon students. This crushing, mortifying stress plummets the mental and physical health of pupils sometimes to the point of no return. Colleges contribute greatly to this injustice as well: tuition fees and acceptance rates result being the primary concerns of families across the nation. Today s society should not endorse the over pressurization of college, as that in return results in the declination of health of high school students. ¬Stress plagues almost every high school student, and while miniscule amounts may not result in negative consequences, excessive amounts will (Palmer). Pressure by parents and schools to achieve top scores has created stress levels among students beginning as early as elementary school that are so high that some educators regard it as a health epidemic, stated Denise Clark Pope, a lecturer in the School of Education and author of Doing School: How We Are Creating a Generation of Stressed Out, Materialistic and Miseducated Students. Knowing that he is an advocate for LGBT rights, I can understand why he is writing about the events that he does. He can use the element of time to his advantage as well by showing the exact time because each letter in the book starts with a date. Readers are able to gather precisely what part of his life we are experiencing in the story. The author also grows antagonists that aren t necessarily palpable, as I believe it is either Charlie s own subconscious or the mostly ignorant society he lives in. Stephen Chbosky is an avid supporter of LGBT people s rights and respect. You can see his own opinions on matters like this one in his book. Charlie s best friend, Patrick, is gay and in his school, especially by the football players, that is not socially acceptable. When Charlie walks in on Patrick and Brad, a member of the football team, making out in a closet at a party the problem starts to get addressed in the novel. He expanded the Frankish Kingdom that incorporated much of Western and Central Europe. During his reign, he conquered Italy and was crowned Imperator Augustus by Pope Leo III. When Pope Leo III was ambushed by a group of Roman aristocrat rivals, he summoned Charlemagne for help, because he could no longer fend off his enemies in the city. After Charlemagne calmed representatives from both sides and restored Leo to power, the pope wanted to show his gratitude. He called Charlemagne to St. Peter s Cathedral in Rome on Christmas day 800. Charlemagne was kneeling before the altar in prayer when Pope Leo III approached him from behind and placed the imperial crown on his head. It was then that Charlemagne received the title Charles Augustus, Emperor of the Romans. Leo placed the jeweled crown on Charlemagne s head, and from then on, he was hailed the king. However, Charlemagne was not very much interested in Pope Leo s offering. Had Charlemagne known what was to happen on that Christmas day, he never would have attended the mass. Charlemagne had no intention of being absorbed into the Roman Church. It was not that he didn t want to be Emperor of the Romans, but he just did not want to receive the title as a gift. • 19. Differing Opinions on the Controversial Death Penalty... The issue of capital punishment is one that has been in discussion for many years. How can anyone control the life of another human being? The accused may have taken the life of another citizen but what gives anyone the right to take his. This is the main point of the question but it gets vastly more complicated as the issue is further investigated. For instance, the psychopath who goes on a murderous rampage might have an abnormality with the frontal lobe of the cortex in his brain. Now, if this is the case this person may not be able to control his murderous impulses. So, should this person be punished, and not only should he or she be punished but should the punishment be done for retribution? After all, most punishment is based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Of course there is the old argument that capital punishment legalizes killing. This holds no ground. The person who committed a crime deserves to be punished. But, which punishment is worse, life in prison or death? The criminal sentenced to death most likely suffers more waiting for his death sentence to be carried out than did the person he murdered. Although this it not positively known. The next part of this discussion will be carried out by Christopher W. Morris. One must first understand what justice is compared to benevolence. The standard distinction is to understand justice to pertain to what individuals are owed, to what they may claim, to what they have a right. (Morris, 273) Benevolence is concerned with the well being of the accused. Justice is the more important of these two issues. A moral object is that which is receiving the moral consideration and to achieve moral standing is to be owed moral consideration, hence be a direct moral object. Having moral standing is a relation; something has moral standing in its relation to some other entity(ies). (Morris, 274) Criminals forfeit their moral standing in civilization. They do pay the same moral consideration to others so the moral consideration to them should be lost. The accused did not respect this social contract and so this should not be respected upon them. In the calm aftermath and a chance to reflect on this behaviour some American officials admitted that Abu Ghraib was the functional equivalent of the 9/11 attack, only committed this time by the United States (Greenberg 2005: 98). Prior to 9/11there had been various terrorist attacks on Americans around the world and on American soil. Juxtaposition In A Modern Proposal Swift when faced with a humanitarian crisis, a tyrannical English Empire, and a strong divide between social classes, uses his pent up agitation to develop a piece of satire which both compels and shocks those who read his work. A Modern Proposal is centered around the idea of cannibalism. In Swift s reformation of Irish society a new division of laborers would be created labeled breeders . These breeders would raise infants to the ripe age of one, and then sell them to the wealthy to be slaughtered, served and possibly made into apparel. Throughout his proposal Swift uses comic juxtaposition and grotesque elements to further convey his criticism of Ireland. By comparing the lower class breeders and their children to animals, Swift uses comic juxtaposition to hone in on the notion that the impoverished people in society have long been denied the humanity the wealthy pride themselves on. One of the more influential cases that transformed how people view the death penalty was Furman v. Georgia. This case set up a guide for limited sentencing discretion; this meant that sentencing for the death penalty would become standardized. Essentially in extreme cases, every criminal death qualified would be sent to death row and eventually executed. After disputes after Furman, cases like Woodson v. North Carolina insisted on individualized discretion when discussing the death penalty. Those in favor of Woodson believed that character ad record of an individual must be accounted especially when discussing life or death (Woodson 238). In Walton v. Arizona, Justice Scalia and Justice Blackburn dispute over the rationality of limited discretion v individualized discretion. Although each presents his case differently, both agree about the tension between the Furman s promotion for limited discretion and Woodson s idea of individualized sentencing discretion. • 28. Jeremy Bentham and John Stewart Mill Bentham/ J.S Mill According to Jeremy Bentham s principle of utility, actions are right when they increase happiness and diminish misery. (Bentham, pg. 101) With this, Bentham is described as a hedonistic utilitarian, meaning his theoretical objectives consist of the pursuit of happiness/pleasure and the avoidance of pain. Hedonists also believe in quantifying happiness. Bentham developed the formula of the calculus of felicity (hedonistic calculus) in order for one to analyze an act in terms of the pleasure it will produce when applied to utilitarian criteria. (Bentham, pg. 270) Bentham intended this grouping of circumstances to be applied when considering all acts. The seven categories defined by Bentham are: Intensity, Duration, Certainty, Proximity, Fecundity, Purity, and Extent. The benefit of using utilitarian criteria for determining the value of pleasure is that it presents several perspectives of pleasure. The primary advantage of calculus of felicity using utilitarian criteria is that the pleasure obtained from all different acts or sources is to be measured in the same way. Universal application of this measurement implies that there is no additional value to acts that are deemed more moral or intellectual. John Stuart Mill is an advocate of the principle of utility and believed the ideology behind achieving happiness was acting in favor of the highest good. In 1921, Greenwood and its African American population became the outlet for these often violent tensions seething among Tulsa s white population. The following paper seeks to shed some further understanding on what motivated and pushed the whites of Tulsa, Oklahoma to such a violent, extreme reaction during the riot. To answer the question, Why were the whites so mean? it is necessary to understand the pre existing conditions that existed in Tulsa, Oklahoma before the actual riot took place in 1921. Pre existing racism in Tulsa was the foundation on which all the other causes of the riot were built upon. Wide spread segregation was still common in America at that time and it was accepted by many in the North and South that whites were inherently superior to blacks. These views were particularly strong in the South, where emancipated blacks were seen as a threat and scourge to white Southern culture, a culture which was utterly dominated by whites and where blacks were oppressed with no hope of equal protection under the law, equal representation, etc. This was also the case in Tulsa in the early 1900s.
