Women s Small Freedom Analysis
I think that the comportment books maybe more of a men reflections to restrict women s small
freedom. Through this books women were domestically educated to maintain the traditions of women
in society. So, they could gain knowledge on how to modestly behave in a lot of societal aspects such
as social class, marriage and in terms of education. The purpose of males trough this books were
created to obligate women to maintain her submissive wifely position inside the house as well as in
the church and in society. So, men had the power over women and they could not complaint about
their spouses cruel actions. These books conditioned women to be absolute tolerance with their
husbands otherwise, they were drastically punished. So, women

Essay about HIstory of Astronomy and Neptune
Science is and has become a necessity to know just to keep up with the tremendous advancements of
today and tomorrow. Basic things, such as how the universe was suspected to be started or who
Ptolemy and Galileo were and what they did are just things that need to be known to fully understand
what is happening in the world around you. These things are what you need to know, if you re a
scientists, to a grocery shop bagger.
Ptolemy was a Greek man who became the man to set the future for astronomy. He was the third of

Johannes Kepler was born in 1571 and was one of the first strong believers of the heliocentric
planetary theory. He discovered the three laws of planetary motion. This German astronomer believed
in the Harmonices Mundi, or the Harmonies of the World. In his Harmonices Mundi he spoke of his
third law, which was about the relationship between the orbital periods and the distances of the planets
from the sun. He believed the sun regulates the velocity of the planets. This fact was a marking point
in Astronomy history. This left a path for Newton s theory of universal gravitation.
Galileo Galilei was a student at the University of Pisa. He studied medicine, though his real interests
were natural philosophy and mathematics. What he is mostly remembered for is his work on free fall,
his use of telescopes, and his employment of experimentation. In 1592, he became a professor of the
University of Padua. His job was to teach Euclid geometry and standard astronomy to medical
students. Instead he taught and lectured a more unconventional form of astronomy and natural
philosophy to his medical students. In a personal letter to Kepler sent in 1598, Galileo stated that he
was a Copernican, meaning he believed the teachings of

At Risk Students
At risk students are students who are at risk of not completing high school. Students who consistently
perform below expected academic standards are regarded as at risk (Ng Wong, 2013). Dropping out of
high school is a complex social problem for which no simple solution exists. While the most obvious
characteristic of at risk students is academic underachievement, there is solid evidence for using other
characteristics to assist in identifying these children.
Next to academic achievement, the rate of school attendance showed the strongest relationship to
dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). Failure to complete homework, follow school rules, follow
civil law, and lack of participation in activities, were all signs of disengagement, ... Show more

Some low income parents do not have the confidence in their own ability to help their children,
especially when more advanced concepts are introduced during middle and high school (Marchetti,
Wilson, Dunham, 2016). Finally, low income parents may not have the resources to hire tutors or extra
help to assist with homework (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). At risk students may find it
challenging to draw upon their personal strengths to muster adaptive responses to academic setbacks
(Caleon, Wui, Chiam, King, Tan, Tan, 2016). These barriers listed are more the reason why when a
student does try, it should be reviewed as a strength. As at risk students, must overcome more
challenges to even do what is viewed as minimal effort.
Perhaps no single event in the adolescent life course more strongly determines later social and
economic success than dropping out of school (Ludwig Shah, 2014). Risk factors for dropping out of
school exist in all life domains with the likelihood of a student dropping out of school increasing as
these risk factors accumulate (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). However, most of the research on at
risk students and dropping out has focused on the characteristics of individuals rather than on the
services available at schools or the local community (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson,

Theme Of Atomic Bride
Atomic Bride , through its use of anaphora and combined repetition, morphs from an innocent poem
about a cross dresser to a bitter attack on societal ideals. Thomas Sayers Ellis utilizes three distinct
repetitive elements the use of the word drag , the grammatical statement A good ... starts in the ... and

shifts as the poem transitions between themes. In the line, Andre s cross / dressing, what / A drag (7 9),
drag refers to the custom of male transvestism. In the next repetition of this line, drag morphs from
male cross dressing to a bummer , as in Andre s tying / The knot, what / A drag (19 21). The definition

The line reflects ideas of innocence and a heteronormative ideal by using the word bride which is
ironic, as Andre does not fulfill this image. The next line focuses more on Andre s role as showman,

anaphora bolsters the societal criticism of the poem by allowing for deconstruction of ideals that the

Forestalling Students In College
The policy that requires educational institutions to dissuade students from pursuing the fields that they
are unlikely to succeed is, at first glance, rather plausible. Certainly a prompt forestalling action may
bring the student back from the detouring path effectively. However, the consequences of this policy
are not immutable. Instead, they vary dramatically with the characteristics of students, and the time
during which the policy is enacted, before or in college. Such complexity of the possible results of this
policy requires careful circumspection. While the author declares such dissuasion is obligatory, I
remain doubtful of this.
First and foremost, the peculiarities of each student can probably lead to the different consequences

My invasive species that I m investigating is the American mink it is invasive in England. The
American mink came from North America, and got brought to England in 1929 for fur farming.
The American mink s scientific name is Neovison vison and is a semiaquatic, carnivorous animal.
That belongs to the mustelid family. The American mink was brought to England for fur farming for
economic reasons, but some of the minks escaped into the wild and started breeding. It took them 30
years to establish after they escaped. When the otter s population dropped the minks started to grow in
numbers because the otters ate the minks. The mink s predators are birds of prey, owls, foxes, coyotes,

The American mink brought light tick, fleas and diseases with them when it came to England. Which
affected cattle and sheep which was bad for farmers. The American mink is considered an invasive
species because they are feral animals and, because they kill native animals and spread diseases that
are fatal to the native animals.
To try stop the American mink they are going to use humane methods the best one so far is catching it

Gay Discrimination
Gay discrimination Essay
Gay Discrimination In the recent years since the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ)
community got their rights, there have been many cases of gay discrimination. The most famous of
these was Dale VS. Boyscouts Of America .
Dale vs. Boy Scouts Of America:At the age of eight, James Dale joined the Cub Scouts. Throughout
his childhood, he stayed a scout, and even earned the title of eagle scout, the highest attainable scout
award. At the age of eighteen, Dale left for college. At the same time, he had applied as an adult scout
and had been accepted. During his college years, he had openly came out as gay . He became very
involved with and eventually became the co president of the Rutgers University lesbian/gay alliance.
The local newspaper found out and they did an interview on the school s lesbian/gay alliance . When
the Monmouth council received the news, they sent him a letter saying that his seat of assistant
scoutmaster had been revoked. In response to this, Dale wrote them back asking why they made this
decision. The answered with, The Boy Scouts specifically forbids membership to Homosexuals . In
response to this Dale filed a complaint against the Boy Scouts in the New Jersey Superior Court. He
started the complaint by saying that The Boy Scouts had revoked his adult membership based solely
on his sexual orientation. According to the New Jersey Superior Court, discrimination in the

The French Revolution And Neo Classical Era
Lumières
Show Title
The 18th century was a time for human knowledge to thrive, as well as the challenging of long held
dogmatic practices; this meant much change for both the commoner as well as the nobility. Lumières
is the title of our exhibition, which translates to Enlightenment in French, which we found to be most
appropriate for this era. This show title would instantly grab the audience s attention as it effectively
communicates the meaning behind the exhibit. The enlightenment was among many movements that
contributed to the progressiveness of the 1700 s during the French Revolution and Neo Classical era,
but none had nearly the impact that the Enlightenment era did for society in this time.

However, it is not until the 1760 s that the stagnation of fashion and its evolutionary pace shifts from a
gradual change to rapid progression (Payne, Winakor Farell Beck, 1992).
Our goal is to study more specifically the Neoclassical era, because this period in France gave a newly
and creative sense of style in both the arts and architecture that was very similar to those in ancient
Rome and Greece (Craske, 1997). During this conflict it caused people to recognize social status and
freedom of dress. This revolt caused civilians mainly middle class to rebel for equality and freedom
among their society (Mezler, 1998). Furthermore, our group will analyze this decline of the pompous
nobility as France is experiencing the onset of a revolution. Following this shift is the ultimate demise
of formal aristocracy, the once cynosure of all eyes has met their fate at the guillotine. A guillotine,
meant to symbolize the Reign of Terror nearing the end of the eighteenth century would perhaps be a
fitting and symbolic final piece to the exhibition.
International Location In addition to Dallas, the exhibition will also be held in Versailles, France.
As stated in Blum s introduction for the book Illusion and Reality: Fashion in France 1700 1900

structured court Louis XIV had created here. Another reason to have the exhibit here would be

Colleges Should Require Class Attendance
Does your attendance record reflect your final grade in college? No not because the professor will
mark you down a certain percentage of your grade, but because of the relationship between students
that show up for class and the ones that regularly skip. When I started attending college, I was a bit
confused why such a large percentage of students weren t attending class. It seemed as the quarter
moved further along, class attendance went down. After spending a bit of time on google, I found a
few statistics that reflect why I believe class attendance should be mandatory. On the contrary, some
students will say that they should have the freedom to decide if they want to go to class, because they
are now adults. However, to improve students grades and school drop out rates. Colleges should
require class attendance. Building in class continuity will help prepare young adults for the work
world and requiring class attendance will help develop students for a thriving career. Fortunately, in
grade school you are required to go to school. If you don t there will be some form of consequences.
However, once students enter college they now have the choice of attending class, thus, teaching

mandatory, it would help improve students` grades and confidence in themselves. Also, students

of inconsistent continuity, you can grow into a mature adult. A relationship can grow between your
teacher and fellow students. In the future, I have hope that anyone that has influence on this topic, will
succor our students for their future and see that mandatory attendance will turn young adults in school

Not a Goal Worth Fighting For

ventures out to rob a nation of its greatest treasure and uses Medea along the way to achieve his goal.
In Medea, Jason takes another bride even though he is already married to Medea, fails to protect

readers everywhere. Furthermore, this highly criticized novel contains a myriad of ways to engage

Dumb Transgende Stereotypes In Media
Stereotypes are prominent in all aspects of the media. These stereotypes almost always have a
negative connotation and although there is sometimes truth behind a stereotype, they are almost
always based on constructions. The stereotypes in the media are visual therefore they allow the viewer
to engage with it and take in its meaning. In countless films and television shows, blondes are
represented as being unintelligent. This dumb blonde stereotype is the idea that blonde haired people
are less intelligent than those of darker hair. Although there is no scientific proof that blondes are less
smart than those of other hair colors it still seems to be one of the most popular stereotypes portrayed
in the media.
The dumb blonde stereotype also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Sturken and Cartwright s essay Modernity: Spectatorship, Power and Knowledge they discuss the
gaze and that it is to look or stare, often with eagerness or desire (76). Sturken and Cartwright also use
Laura Mulvey s idea of the male gaze as an example. Mulvey proposed that the conventions of
popular narrative cinema are structured by a patriarchal unconscious, positioning woman represented
in films as objects as a male gaze (76). The male gaze is closely related to the stereotype of the dumb
blonde. The character of the dumb blonde is always represented as highly sexual and attractive and is,
therefore, the misogynistic male viewer. The blonde woman has put in films as the weak, helpless,
stupid character. This is a result of the male gaze because women are seen as inferior to men in all
aspects and are there solely for the males entertainment. Since this stereotype is so prominent in the
media it has circulated into everyday society. In Gilman s essay What are Stereotypes and Why Use
Texts to Study Them? he states that everyone creates stereotypes... the creation of stereotypes is a
concomitant of the process by which all human beings become individuals (17).

Setting Up An Effective Classroom Environment
Setting up an effective classroom environment is essential in order to be a successful teacher. Good
classroom management requires careful planning of the classroom organization, rules, procedures, and
instruction. Without these, classrooms would not run smoothly and efficiently. It is not enough to
assume that students will behave appropriately throughout the year just because the teacher has taught
the students what is expected of them. Good teachers encourage good behavior by constantly
implementing classroom rules, procedures, and consequences. My management plan for my classroom
would incorporate an interactive chart where students who are on track and exhibiting appropriate
behavior will be assigned a specific color. This plan involves four different color squares and
depending on the students behavior, they would be asked to flip the card to a certain color. This plan
includes the color purple, green, yellow, and red; purple being the best then green. Yellow indicates
that you are not on track and red means you are completely off task.
Each day the students cards would all be on green. As the day progresses they will be given the
opportunity to flip their card to purple depending on their behavior. For example, if a student is on
track and is following instructions, they would be asked to change their color to purple, the highest
color on the chart. Sometimes when students are asked to flip their card to purple, they would be given
a small purple cone as well to

The sport of bowling has a lengthy history packed with an evolution that has comprehensive rules; and
is an indoor activity that has become one of the most popular sports in the world. It can easily be said

history of the game.
Oddly, one of the newest of professional sports, bowling is one of the most ancient. In one form or

From a few hundred league bowlers in 1895, the ABC now reaches some 5 million male bowlers and

distaffers organized the Women s International Bowling Congress (WIBC) in 1916 with some 40

Thanks to the ABC and the WIBC the rules of the game are well defined. Everyone can compete with
everyone else because the lanes, balls, and rules are standardized and many systems of handicapping
have been developed. (Pezzano 18)
Bowling received its greatest boost with the invention of the automatic pin setter. It was a big step in
allowing the businessmen of the game, the bowling alley owner, to remodernize both their alley and
thinking. Bowling became a complete family sport with modern, efficient equipment available at all
times for men, women, and children. (Pezzano 18)
In practically all surveys taken in the early 1970 s, bowling had reached the point where it rated only
behind football, baseball, and basketball, not only as the most popular but as the sport people like to
follow most. However, bowling has long been the number one participant sport. There are bowling

Ojibwe Creation Myths
A Whole New World
Part A: Eternal inflation is an alternative theory of creation that is a modification of the Big Bang
Theory. The earliest universe was expanding matter, and particles that were next to each other would
routinely be sent whizzing away to the farthest reaches of their cosmological horizons. It is no longer
like that, however, as the inflation stopped. The theory of eternal inflation is that the expansion did not
stop all at once. Rather, little bubbles of space randomly stopped inflating, or fell onto trajectories that
led to the end of their inflation. And, since the expansion is rapid, the inflating space creates more
space than the bubbles that stop inflating lose so inflation never ends. The result is an ever expanding
multiverse, which means not only is Earth not the center of the universe but our universe isn t the
center of the universe.
Part B: The Ojibwa are an Aboriginal people in Canada. The creation story of the Ojibwa starts with
nothing except a dark void; however, although there was nothing, there was possibility. This means
although there was nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both stories start with nothing, but from the nothingness the Ojibwa believe there is one all powerful
being and the Māroi believe there are two. This is where the differences become more prominent,
because the Māroi story depicts the beings as being almost human like: they give birth and have flaws,
flaws which lead to eventual conflict. The Ojibwa, however, depict a being of unfathomable power
and wisdom whose vision should be altered by no one. The real difference, however, is most
prominent today. The first two beings of Māroi culture, Rangi and Papa, are not worshipped with the
intensity that the Ojibwa allow Kitchi Manitou. The Māroi believe there were flaws and the offspring
are the true creators of existence, while the Ojibwa believe everybody is still a part of Kitchi Manitou

Mighty Oak Trees Research Paper
Among other names, like their latin names and the regular name( Oaks), mighty oaks are a haven for
many organisms. Those organisms include: squirrels, raccoons, spiders, black bears, mountain lions,
and bobcats. I m going to talk about the relationships between these animals and the things that
happen during the mighty oak s life span.
Red squirrels are an important part of the ecosystem in which the oak lives. They are important
because they eat off the oak trees. That is important because the soil is fertilized from the squirrel
poop, which helps the trees. The trees are also not harmed because the acorns that they eat are the fruit
of the tree. The trees also gave them a place to live. They raise their babies in the tree, and hide from

The And The Sacrifice Of Isaac By Peter Paul
A painting is a scene, frozen in time. Artists can bring them to life. Catching the emotions of whatever
is depicted. The bible is full of memorable scenes, with thousands of years of art to capture the
intensity of the stories.
My Journey to The Sacrifice of Isaac by Peter Paul Rubens begin when I saw a painting at the Nelson
Atkins Museum of Art almost six years ago in a grand room, with tens of other paintings and high,
echoing ceilings. I stood in front of a massive, Renaissance era piece. Without looking at the title or
artist s statement, I knew it was of Abraham sacrificing Isaac. It had the iconic look of one of the most
infamous stories from the bible.
And when I remembered that painting, years later, I knew that would be the focus of this paper.
So, with my painting in mind, I went to KSU online Hale Library ARTstor Abraham and Isaac . But
there were too many paintings. And the majority of them looked the same. After clicking through
about a dozen paintings from the Louvre, of Rembrandt and Domenichino and not finding the specific
painting from my memory, I went to the Nelson Atkins website and then cross referenced with the list
ARTstor was offering. The painting was Peter Paul Rubens The Sacrifice of Isaac and I can say, details
get lost in memory.
The painting, for the most part, kept with the scripture. Considering the scripture was bare bones when
it came to description, that wasn t an impossible feat. The binding of Isaac was similar in the

Reflective Essay On Meditation
Meditation is a state of consciousness without focus on the world around you. The goal of meditation
varies for each individual, but it is typically done to achieve a sense of calm, reduce anxiety, become
self aware, and gain a broader sense of perspective. There are various activities that are meditative and
can deliver the mind clearing sensation, but I chose the traditional form of seated meditation. When I
chose meditation as my personal life change, I had no desired outcome. I simply chose meditation
because of my interest in Buddhism, and maybe even the opportunity to one of those pretentious
people who brag about how spiritually whole they are. Meditation can be done anywhere as long as
you re in a comfortable, seated position. However, I found that there are other contributing factors to a
successful meditation. After my first attempt meditating, I came to the realization that it is much
simpler to clear your mind in certain locations. I began meditating in the comfort of my home
alongside a scented candle, but I noticed quite quickly that it is a lot easier to reduce stress when you
aren t able to hear the sources of your stress parading around in the kitchen. After moving my
meditation location to a hammock in my backyard, I was able to focus on my breath, the delicate
inhalations and powerful exhalations, and the cool September air that cooled my body, as opposed to
what was assigned in Chemistry earlier that day. However, it seemed that every time I began

Also, when looking at the filtrate values under the short wavelength, a value of 0.44 appears to hint at
the existence of the cis, trans isomer which has a literature value of 0.41. The three values for the
filtrate under the long wavelength make sense as well, being that the value of 0.28 belongs to the
oxide, the 0.36 to the trans, trans, and the 0.44 to the cis, trans.
An NMR spectrum was also taken for our product sample which was close to the ideal but was a little
off. Ideally there should be five peaks for the five chemical shifts from the five hydrogen groups on
the product structure. The first peak should occur in the mid six ppm and can be described as a quartet.
The second peak should occur at a ppm in the high 6s and should be another quartet. The third peak
should be a triplet occurring at a low 7ppm. The fourth peak should be close by to the third, being
another triplet. Finally, the fifth peak should be a doublet occurring at a mid 7ppm. The ppms for the
ideal and the actual differ greatly in the fact that they span from approximately 5.3 6.25 instead of the
ideal 6.5 7.5. It is fact that chemical shifts caused by benzene rings occur in the 6 to 8 ppm range, thus
the nmr we received as a result can be somewhat doubted.. Ideally the first and second peaks should
be a result of the hydrogens furthest away from the rings and the

Visiting a Middle Eastern Grocery Store
For this project I was planning to visit some kind of international or ethnic event such a festival or
foreign holiday celebration. However, after spending couple hours of searching on google,
unfortunately I was not able to find any kind of international activities around Denver area that were
scheduled for the end of March. Trip to the any kind of church did not sound very entertaining and
inspiring to me. I am not atheist and do believe that there is some kind of superstitious force or god
out there, but all the church visits and religious rituals or services bore me to death. So, I decided that
church trip would not be such a good idea. Since my last choice for this project was visiting Ethnic
grocery store I got on computer and googled Middle Eastern grocery stores in Denver . I decided to go
with Middle Eastern store and not Asian or Hispanic because I ve never been in one, and never really
tried any type of Middle Eastern food, but I do like to try different foods and love to cook. Besides
that I go to Asian stores quite often, and Hispanic stores are all over Colorado, so I thought they would
not be so exiting to me. After doing my research on internet I decided to go to the store named Arash ,
it is an Iranian grocery store in Aurora on the intersection of Parker Road and Yale Avenue. I chose it
because it had best reviews out of all Middle Eastern stores in Denver area, and appeared to be largest
with biggest variety of products. Arash is the Persian

Psychology the Nervous System Essay examples
Assignment 3 Written Essay Questions 1. a) We are able to experience different types of sensations
because our nervous system encodes messages. German physiologist Johannes Muller in his doctrine
of specific nerve energies described a kind of code which is anatomical. In his doctrine, Muller
explains that different sensory modalities exist because signals received by the sense organs stimulate
different nerve pathways that lead to different areas of the brain. For example, when the ear receives
signals, these signals cause impulses to travel along the auditory nerve to the auditory cortex. And
signals from the eye cause impulses to travel along the optic nerve to the visual cortex. Because of
these anatomical differences, light ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An extensive matrix of neurons in the brain gives us the sense of our own bodies and body parts. Pain
results when this matrix produces an abnormal pattern of activity, as a result of memories, emotions,
expectations or signals from various brain centres and not just from signals from peripheral nerves.
Because of the lack of sensory stimulation or a person s efforts to move a nonexistent limb, abnormal
patterns may arise, resulting in phantom pain. 6. a) The role stimulus generalization plays in this
problem is where mental images of the sights and smells of the clinic can become conditioned stimuli
for nausea, aside from the nurse s uniform, smell of rubbing alcohol or the waiting room. b) High
order conditioning can be illustrated in this problem of vomiting and nausea where a patient who
drank lemon lime Kool Aid before their therapy sessions developed anxiety disorders. They continued
to feel anxious even when the drink was offered in their homes rather than at the clinic. c) Classical
conditioning could help patients reduce pain and anxiety through the use of placebos. For example the
use of pills and injections that have no active ingredients or treatments that have no direct physical
effect on the problem. The bigger and more impressive the placebos are, the stronger their
psychological effects are. 7. The evidence shows that punishments are

To What Extent Does Tax Evasion Affect the Society
To what extent does tax evasion affect the society?
Word counts: 1510 words
Introduction:
The importance of the revenue to a country is well known in the world. The global financial system
has more interconnections now than at any other time in history. (Simser.J, 2008, p.131). Tax evasion
is one of most common crimes that damage the order of revenue. This is closely affecting the market
economy and daily lives. Normally, most commentators consider tax evasion profoundly unethical.
There are some ambiguities regarding the meaning of the very word taxation that must be addressed. It
is maintained that the meaning of taxation depends neither on the agents who collect it, nor on their
objectives. (Bagus, Block, Eabrasu, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, from some survey data, tax evasion has a negative correlation with GDP, this means that the
scale of tax evasion has disadvantageous influence to the GDP. Investigating its reason, it is mainly
because the income by enterprise and individual tax evasion which does not all through the legal ways
of investment and consumption, there is a big part of the capital flight. In addition, some investments
and spend of consumers are illegal. Therefore, on the whole, no matter from the view of current or in
the future, tax evasion can be viewed as a negative influence on the national economy. The
government should do some positive macro controls to the economic phenomenon, and resolutely
crack down on the behavior of tax evasion.
Body 2:
Tax evasion may affect the income distribution. Tax is an important function of adjusting income
distribution, which makes social income distribution trend to fair, tax evasion make this function,
cannot be fully realized. All kinds of tax evasion are through the way of reducing the financial income
to increase the disposable income of taxpayer. It is proposed that, the tax liability of a taxpayer is
normally only a fraction of his income. This will change the original pattern of income distribution
between the government and taxpayers; reduce the finally disposable share in national income
distribution and increase the

Comparing The Lost Boys, Dracula and Peter-Pan Essay
Common threads in The Lost Boys, Dracula and Peter Pan
In The Lost Boys there are similar occurrences and references to both of the novel Dracula, by Bram
Stoker and Peter Pan, by Sir James Barrie. There are many similarities between the three story lines.
In the stories of all three works there is a common thread of story it all started with Dracula.
The story of Dracula has many components of it used in the film The Lost Boys. The comparison s
begin with the vampire. Dracula is centered around the main vampire, Dracula. Dracula has many
powers and ways he can alter reality. In the novel Bram Stoker s Dracula we see that there is a power

First he must take her blood, and secondly she must take his blood to make her a vampire.
Dracula is near immortality (he cannot die from the passage of time or from disease). Dracula has
survived for century s, and there was only one way he could die. The only way he can be killed is to
have a stake driven through his heart, then have his head severed. Dracula has the ability to grow
younger by drinking blood. His feeding upon the living keeps him alive or in his case Undead. The
blood gives him his youth in the blood is life!
Dracula casts no shadow. He is not living and manipulates the light. The light seems to pass right
through him. Or another way to look at this would be as Francis Ford Coppola viewed it: He felt that
Dracula had a shadow by some means. Dracula s shadow moved as though he could will the light to
do his bidding, or does it go further than that is the shadow a darker side of Dracula? The shadow tries
to strangle Jonathan Harker while Dracula stands here.
Dracula casts no reflection. The first time that we have a notion that he does not like mirrors is when
Jonathan Harker makes the statement there is not a single mirror in the entire castle . The most
memorable mirror scene is when Dracula comes to see Jonathan he(Dracula) is exposed to mirror and
he become enraged when he sees it. Dracula takes it and throws it into the courtyard below and it
shatters on the rocks below.
Dracula has the ability to crawl along walls. One night

Humanism In Antigone
Over the centuries, the figure of Antigone has assumed the archetypal and iconographical martyred
champion of the oppressed thus been restaged and reworked into countless literary pieces. Through
Winston s performance as Antigone, Fugard is able project ideas of Western liberal humanism to an
apartheid ridden South Africa, constituting to a form of heroic resistance against racial oppression.
Fugard specifically focuses on The Trial and Punishment of Antigone scene where the play climaxes.
Through the use of metatheatre, he highlights the power of stage performance, in this case
demonstrating Winston s action in the play within a play has abilities to transcend through reality and
affect us, the audience. This is done by creating an intentional slippage between the division level of
reality, the stage and the stage on stage. By tearing off his wig and confronting the audience as
Winston, not Antigone he essentially blurs the boundary between actor and character, conversely the
boundary between stage and reality also disintegrates. The use of John and ... Show more content on

Her act of defying Creon by burring her brother is paralleled with Winston s defiance of the state and
rebellious act of resisting apartheid authority by burning his passbook. By openly committing his act
in front of a police station, like Antigone, he is sentenced to his living death eclipsing their tragic fate
together. In Sophocles original work, Creon symbolise the state law and Antigone the will of the Gods,
underlining the fact that state law is not absolute, and can be broken through civil disobedience hence
suggesting there is a higher law of humanity. Thus, in the eyes of the higher law Winston s burning of
the passbook is justifiable. This can be extended to Fugard s work where apartheid authority is
represented through John s Creon and freedom and of human rights of Black Africans are echoed in
Antigone as evident in the final

began to incriminate himself along with the procedural steps they are required to take following the
arrest and interview of John at the police station. After covering the procedural steps we will compare
both the preliminary hearing and grand jury proceeding to establish probable cause for the felony

into consideration when setting the bond for John. The final thing that will be covered is what an

Once John is booked he will be allowed one phone call and then incarcerated until the arraignment
where he will appear before the judge. When he is before the judge, the judge will decide if there was
probable cause for his arrest and decide whether or not he will be allowed to post bail, and if so, the
amount. Now, we move on to cover and compare the preliminary hearing and the grand jury process to
establish probable cause for the felony charges. A preliminary hearing is used to determine if there is
enough evidence against John to go to trial. A good way to look at the preliminary hearing is to think
of it as a mini trial. It is where the judge will allow hearsay evidence. The judge must make their
decision based on probable cause and if the prosecutors have enough evidence to convince a jury that
John is guilty. During a preliminary hearing both sides can argue why or why not a trial should
happen. Witnesses and evidence can be used and defense can cross examine. A preliminary hearing is
held as soon as possible after the arraignment of the defendant. Some states only require a preliminary
hearing if the suspect is charged with a felony. Some states use a grand jury. A grand jury is where a
group of citizens listen to evidence and determine themselves on whether or not there should be a trial.
The only other person that is there with the grand jury is the prosecutor showing them all

These things are what you need to know, if you re a scientists, to a grocery shop bagger. Ptolemy was a Greek man who became the man to set the future for astronomy. Johannes Kepler was born in 1571 and was one of the first strong believers of the heliocentric planetary theory. He discovered the three laws of planetary motion. This German astronomer believed in the Harmonices Mundi, or the Harmonies of the World. In his Harmonices Mundi he spoke of his third law, which was about the relationship between the orbital periods and the distances of the planets from the sun. He believed the sun regulates the velocity of the planets. This fact was a marking point in Astronomy history. This left a path for Newton s theory of universal gravitation. Galileo Galilei was a student at the University of Pisa. He studied medicine, though his real interests were natural philosophy and mathematics. What he is mostly remembered for is his work on free fall, his use of telescopes, and his employment of experimentation. In 1592, he became a professor of the University of Padua. His job was to teach Euclid geometry and standard astronomy to medical students. Instead he taught and lectured a more unconventional form of astronomy and natural philosophy to his medical students. • 5. At Risk Students At risk students are students who are at risk of not completing high school. Students who consistently perform below expected academic standards are regarded as at risk (Ng Wong, 2013). Dropping out of high school is a complex social problem for which no simple solution exists. While the most obvious characteristic of at risk students is academic underachievement, there is solid evidence for using other characteristics to assist in identifying these children. Next to academic achievement, the rate of school attendance showed the strongest relationship to dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). Some low income parents do not have the confidence in their own ability to help their children, especially when more advanced concepts are introduced during middle and high school (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). Finally, low income parents may not have the resources to hire tutors or extra help to assist with homework (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). At risk students may find it challenging to draw upon their personal strengths to muster adaptive responses to academic setbacks (Caleon, Wui, Chiam, King, Tan, Tan, 2016). These barriers listed are more the reason why when a student does try, it should be reviewed as a strength. As at risk students, must overcome more challenges to even do what is viewed as minimal effort. Perhaps no single event in the adolescent life course more strongly determines later social and economic success than dropping out of school (Ludwig Shah, 2014). Risk factors for dropping out of school exist in all life domains with the likelihood of a student dropping out of school increasing as these risk factors accumulate (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). Forestalling Students In College The policy that requires educational institutions to dissuade students from pursuing the fields that they are unlikely to succeed is, at first glance, rather plausible. Certainly a prompt forestalling action may bring the student back from the detouring path effectively. However, the consequences of this policy are not immutable. Instead, they vary dramatically with the characteristics of students, and the time during which the policy is enacted, before or in college. Such complexity of the possible results of this policy requires careful circumspection. While the author declares such dissuasion is obligatory, I remain doubtful of this. Throughout his childhood, he stayed a scout, and even earned the title of eagle scout, the highest attainable scout award. At the age of eighteen, Dale left for college. The local newspaper found out and they did an interview on the school s lesbian/gay alliance . The French Revolution And Neo Classical Era Lumières Show Title The 18th century was a time for human knowledge to thrive, as well as the challenging of long held dogmatic practices; this meant much change for both the commoner as well as the nobility. Lumières is the title of our exhibition, which translates to Enlightenment in French, which we found to be most appropriate for this era. This show title would instantly grab the audience s attention as it effectively communicates the meaning behind the exhibit. However, it is not until the 1760 s that the stagnation of fashion and its evolutionary pace shifts from a gradual change to rapid progression (Payne, Winakor Farell Beck, 1992). Our goal is to study more specifically the Neoclassical era, because this period in France gave a newly and creative sense of style in both the arts and architecture that was very similar to those in ancient Rome and Greece (Craske, 1997). During this conflict it caused people to recognize social status and freedom of dress. This revolt caused civilians mainly middle class to rebel for equality and freedom among their society (Mezler, 1998). Furthermore, our group will analyze this decline of the pompous nobility as France is experiencing the onset of a revolution. Following this shift is the ultimate demise of formal aristocracy, the once cynosure of all eyes has met their fate at the guillotine. A guillotine, meant to symbolize the Reign of Terror nearing the end of the eighteenth century would perhaps be a fitting and symbolic final piece to the exhibition. • 12. Colleges Should Require Class Attendance Does your attendance record reflect your final grade in college? No not because the professor will mark you down a certain percentage of your grade, but because of the relationship between students that show up for class and the ones that regularly skip. When I started attending college, I was a bit confused why such a large percentage of students weren t attending class. It seemed as the quarter moved further along, class attendance went down. After spending a bit of time on google, I found a few statistics that reflect why I believe class attendance should be mandatory. On the contrary, some students will say that they should have the freedom to decide if they want to go to class, because they are now adults. However, to improve students grades and school drop out rates. Colleges should require class attendance. These stereotypes almost always have a negative connotation and although there is sometimes truth behind a stereotype, they are almost always based on constructions. The stereotypes in the media are visual therefore they allow the viewer to engage with it and take in its meaning. In countless films and television shows, blondes are represented as being unintelligent. This dumb blonde stereotype is the idea that blonde haired people are less intelligent than those of darker hair. Mulvey proposed that the conventions of popular narrative cinema are structured by a patriarchal unconscious, positioning woman represented in films as objects as a male gaze (76). The male gaze is closely related to the stereotype of the dumb blonde. The character of the dumb blonde is always represented as highly sexual and attractive and is, therefore, the misogynistic male viewer. The blonde woman has put in films as the weak, helpless, stupid character. This is a result of the male gaze because women are seen as inferior to men in all aspects and are there solely for the males entertainment. Good classroom management requires careful planning of the classroom organization, rules, procedures, and instruction. Without these, classrooms would not run smoothly and efficiently. It is not enough to assume that students will behave appropriately throughout the year just because the teacher has taught the students what is expected of them. Good teachers encourage good behavior by constantly implementing classroom rules, procedures, and consequences. My management plan for my classroom would incorporate an interactive chart where students who are on track and exhibiting appropriate behavior will be assigned a specific color. This plan involves four different color squares and depending on the students behavior, they would be asked to flip the card to a certain color. This plan includes the color purple, green, yellow, and red; purple being the best then green. Yellow indicates that you are not on track and red means you are completely off task. Each day the students cards would all be on green. As the day progresses they will be given the opportunity to flip their card to purple depending on their behavior. The earliest universe was expanding matter, and particles that were next to each other would routinely be sent whizzing away to the farthest reaches of their cosmological horizons. It is no longer like that, however, as the inflation stopped. The theory of eternal inflation is that the expansion did not stop all at once. Rather, little bubbles of space randomly stopped inflating, or fell onto trajectories that led to the end of their inflation. And, since the expansion is rapid, the inflating space creates more space than the bubbles that stop inflating lose so inflation never ends. The result is an ever expanding multiverse, which means not only is Earth not the center of the universe but our universe isn t the center of the universe. Fugard specifically focuses on The Trial and Punishment of Antigone scene where the play climaxes. Through the use of metatheatre, he highlights the power of stage performance, in this case demonstrating Winston s action in the play within a play has abilities to transcend through reality and affect us, the audience. This is done by creating an intentional slippage between the division level of reality, the stage and the stage on stage. By tearing off his wig and confronting the audience as Winston, not Antigone he essentially blurs the boundary between actor and character, conversely the boundary between stage and reality also disintegrates. Her act of defying Creon by burring her brother is paralleled with Winston s defiance of the state and rebellious act of resisting apartheid authority by burning his passbook. By openly committing his act in front of a police station, like Antigone, he is sentenced to his living death eclipsing their tragic fate together. In Sophocles original work, Creon symbolise the state law and Antigone the will of the Gods, underlining the fact that state law is not absolute, and can be broken through civil disobedience hence suggesting there is a higher law of humanity. Thus, in the eyes of the higher law Winston s burning of the passbook is justifiable.
