The Prevalence Of Stressors And Anxiety Disorders
Introduction
Stress and anxiety affect a large segment of the child and adolescent population. Numerous
stressors from a wide range of domains contribute to the current levels of subclinical anxiety and
diagnosed anxiety disorders. Without effective coping strategies, the cumulative effect of these
stressors can lead to the clinical diagnosis of one or more anxiety disorders. Left untreated, these
disorders can carry severe long term consequences, including social, cognitive, and academic
impairments. Furthermore, these deficiencies can lead to significant limitations in adulthood, such
as reduced career choices, substance abuse, and an increase in the use of both mental and physical
health care.
This paper will first review the prevalence of stressors and anxiety disorders, as well as the
associated negative outcomes. It will then investigate the merits and limitations of several programs
designed to treat and prevent anxiety disorders. Lastly, this article will discuss the FRIENDS for
Life program, and a means of implementation.
Background Significance
Prevalence of Stressors and Anxiety
Numerous studies have demonstrated the impact of stress on the lives of youth. Adolescents are
exposed to a plethora of stressors that range from family discord (Omizo, Omizo, Suzuki, 1988) to
peer relationships (Newcomb, Huba, Bentler, 1986; Patterson McCubbin, 1987) to economic
hardships (Lempers, Clark Lempers, Simon, 1989). However, the most frequently reported stressors

A Survey of Tragedy
A Survey of Tragedy A modern tragedy of today and a tragedy of ancient Greece are two very
different concepts, but ironically, both are linked by many similarities. In Poetics , Aristotle defines
and outlines tragedy for theatre in a way that displays his genius, but raises questions and creates
controversy. Aristotle s famous definition of tragedystates:
A tragedy is the imitation of an action that is serious, and also as having magnitude, complete in
itself in language with pleasurable accessories, each kind brought in separately in the parts of the
work; in a dramatic, not in a narrative form: with incidents arousing pity and fear; wherewith to
accomplish its catharsis of such emotions. I believe Aristotle s meaning of Imitate ... Show more

In Oedipus the King , Sophocles characterization of the protagonist is in near perfect compliance
with the traits Aristotle outlined in Poetics . In the first scene, the foundation is laid showing
King Oedipus as a good and kind King. He speaks with the city elder, showing his compassion
and promising to relieve the city of Thebes of a plague. As the story line plays out, Oedipus s
character flaws of anger and compulsiveness begin to appear. These defects force the king into
situations he would have been better to avoid, including his own fate death or banishment.
When an Oracle reveals the prophecy that Oedipus will kill his father and marry his mother,
Oedipus leaves his comfortable life with King Polybus of Corinth and his wife Merope, who he
believes are his biological parents. On his way to the city of Thebes, Oedipus kills a stranger on
the road who turns out to be Laius, King of Thebes and unbeknownst to him, his biological father.
When Oedipus arrives in Thebes he saves the city from the curse of the Sphinx, as a result is
made King and marries the dead King s Queen, Jocasta, his mother, thus fulfilling the prophecy.
Oedipus is a victim of his own destiny and despite doing everything right; there s nothing he could
have done that would have changed his life. Studying Oedipus the King and Death of a Salesman ,

Themes And Reflection Of The Allegory Of Young Goodman Brown
1)What is the tone of this passage? Which words convey this tone? Despite the sporadic shift in of
tone with words such as brightening and sunshine, the overall passage is very somber and serious.
The authors use of dark, sorrow, lamentations, and black mass, to describe the situation presented
the events as deceitful and wicked.
2)Where does the author use imagery? The author uses imagery in the passage more than once. For
example, the lines black mass of cloud and hid the brightening stars, suggest that the cloud deprives
the forest of it s of light. The imagery suggests that the forest is now dark and therefore gives the
reader an ominous feeling about the events to come.
3)What is the theme of this passage? The theme of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strictly speaking, this means that Nathaniel Hawthorne wrote this short story to reveal that people
are not permanently good or permanently evil.
Symbolism: The forest in the story symbolizes evil and corruption because according to Puritan
beliefs, the forest is the home of the devil. This is important to the story because Goodman Brown
does encounter evil inside of the forest instead of in the village.
Situational Irony: Situational irony is seen when Goodman Brown hides in the forest to avoid
being seen by Goody Cloyse. Goody Cloyse, his catechism teacher, is known as holy among the
villagers. The reader expects Goody Cloyse to be surprised and afraid upon encountering the old
man, but the opposite happened she walked with him. This is situational irony because the reader
expected Cloyse to avoid evil rather than joining into communion with it.
Dramatic Irony: In the short story Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne used dramatic
irony to foreshadow dark events that would occur later that night through Faith s dreams. The
reader can assume that Faith s nightmares anticipate Goodman Brown s unholy actions in the

Literature Review On Hbcus
LITERATURE REVIEW Background on HBCUs According to the National Center for
Educational Statistics (NCES), there are 101 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Title
III of the Higher Education Act of 1965 defines HBCUs as ...any historically Black college or
university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education
of Black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or
association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality
of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress
toward accreditation (US Department of Education, 2017). It is important to note that unlike other
Minority Serving Institutions, HBCUs, are only one of two types of institutions (Tribal Colleges
Universities or TCUs are the other) federally designated by law and therefore, cannot increase in
number with an act of Congress (Li, 2007). In other words, every time an HBCU closes its doors,
we get one step closer to the elimination of the historical and consequential institutions. To
understand the significance of these institutions one must understand the context in which these
institutions were established. In the most basic sense, HBCUs were established because of racism
(Evans, Evans, Evans, 2002). Prior to the Civil War, few universities espoused the mission and goal
of training and education Black people (Albritton, 2012).

Solar Power Importance
Solar power is an important aspect of life that people should consider putting in their homes.
Solar power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple
uses. It can be used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power
is created by using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the suns rays to
create renewable energy for homes and businesses. Solar poweris saved during the daylight so that
it can be used during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t,
the solar panel can still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a
cloudy day, the thicker the clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009).
Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used
in places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to
have solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a
good spot for the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there.
The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. Solar panels are made up of mostly
different types of silicon and glass like substances. The process of making them and installing them
is costly, but after that they are done, they are fine. A photovoltaic cell is a cell that converts solar
energy into electrical energy(

My Journey In My Life
When I was a child, my father always came to me and told me a quote, but over the years I have
changed it into my own and now I live by it everyday: Tomorrow is a brand new day, and a gift
from yesterday. If you ve failed, rise from your ashes and create your own path and leave a trail
behind because you cannot take others paths to live your life. Life is your adventure and what
you make of it. I have always loved life and the people that are in it. Since I was a child I have had
the biggest dreams of going and doing anything I wanted to be and that nothing was going to stop
me. To pursue and make that any dream come true I focused on these three things: being
determined, encouraging others, and hardworking.
To begin with, I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the first semester, we will be shadowing nurses in the Salida Hospital and seeing what they
deal with hand on hand.
With that, I have always loved helping people break not only from their comfort zone but helping
them achieve better than they have before. An example of this is when someone needs help, I ask
them what is stopping them from achieving, I push and make them fight for what they want. This
same tactic is what a nurse needs to help her/him succeed in encouraging patients that they can do
it. I attended the 2017 Summer Student Council Camp, and just telling my story of pushing
through my rough patch in my life encouraged others to say to themselves they don t only have it
hard too , and I saw personally how my story affected them and they pushed harder and took life in
a different perspective.
Additionally, I have always put my heart and soul into all that I do, I have always strived and
been a very hardworker. For instance, I worked weeks on a paper for entering the Sangre De Cristo
Youth Tour for the Colorado Electric Assassination and after all my hours of putting thoughtand
organizing papers, I won the trip to Washington DC through my Electric Co op, which was an
honor all in itself. After all my recovering after surgery I kept on my game and I was later
rewarded as student of the month. During school hours teachers have to teach instead of printing
off their papers, so that is where I come in. I have been a teacher assistant for

NCAA Rivalry And Analysis
Throughout history American college sports has been on the rise, attracting people from all walks
of life through the lure of intense passion and competition that is demonstrated by athletes and fans
alike. At the centre of the immense success of American college sports is its governing
organization, known as the National Collegiate Athletic Association(NCAA), which has now
become one of the most recognizable organizations in all of sports. As per their mission statement,
the NCAA s purpose is, To be an integral part of higher education and to focus on the development
of our student athletes. (NCAA, 2016) With their recent growth, the NCAA has taken the
popularization of collegesports from a national level to an international level, as... Show more

Up until now the NCAA was able to get away with keeping college athletes under the category of
amateur meaning that they would not share in the portion of the profits, as that would
compromise their amateur status. Recently, the NCAA was challenged with and lost a lawsuit
(O Bannon vs. the NCAA) filed by former UCLA basketball star Ed O Bannon. The court ruled,
Requires that the NCAA s caps on compensation must at least reflect the full cost of school
attendance (rather than merely tuition and supplies). The court also held that $5,000 trust funds
would be acceptable, so long as the revenue was distributed equally to all players on a team, but
rejected direct endorsements as inconsistent with the valid objectives of the NCAA. (Lemieux,
2014) This ruling will have a big impact on the business model and structure of the NCAA going
forward. According to experts, The impact of the ruling will not be radical in the short term as
scholarships will become more valuable and players will receive some indirect benefits from
licensing of their names and images. In the long run this ruling will eventually lead to the collapse
of the NCAA s business model as undermining amateurism will undermine fan interest. (Lemieux,
2014) As mentioned in the statement the NCAA will have to make changes to its amateur rules,

Scarlet Letter
Written in 1850, Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With
new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and a multitude of themes, The Scarlet
Letter remains today as an extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not
only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement, but it was also the
beginning of the first wave of feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the
equality of the sexes. Many may believe that because of this introduction to feminism, the novel
directly pertains to the ideology of it. Hester Prynne, protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, shows
similar qualities of a feminist, such as strength and independence. Although these traits are similar
to that of feminist, Hester encompasses a strict form of maternal instinct, which distinguishes her
drive for action from the feminist movement entirely.
The strength portrayed in Hester Prynne, a well known adulteress in this New World society, has
no direct relationship to feminism as we view it today. Hawthorne s representation of Hester s
strength is simply a personal trait, not an idea used to strive for equality among women. As Hester
progresses through her hardships, the meaning of the scarlet letter embroidered on her bosom shifts
from a negative connotation to a positive one, in fact many people refused to interpret the scarlet A
by its original signification. They said that it meant Abel (Hawthorne

Logistics Strategy And Components Of Japan And China
Nowadays, logistics companies are becoming significantly vital in our world and it has a major
role within the economy. However, any logistics company should set logistics strategies in order to
achieve their goals and there are many logistics and supply chain strategies that companies can
make.
Therefore, this report will firstly define the logistics strategy and then explain how the car making
components comes into the United Kingdom from Far East particularly Japan and China.
Consequently, will demonstrate what modes of transport used in order to bring car making
components such as, body parts, steering and chassis parts, interior furnishing and wheels and tyres.
Then, it will determine the best transport modes which is cost effective and time efficient.
Eventually, will analyse the advantages and disadvantages of using each modes of transport and
illustrate storages and warehouses for these products.
2 Logistics strategy and components from Japan and China.
Generally, logistics strategy has three different goals such as, cost reduction, capital reduction and
service improvement. Firstly, the cost reduction is strategy which is minimising the variable costs
associated with storage and movement and the great strategy is formulated by estimating different
courses of action, such as, choosing between different warehouse locations or selecting between
different modes of transport. However, the main goal is still to achieve maximum profit. Secondly,
capital reduction

The Big Island so it is not confused with the name of the state. Hawai i is most likely part of a

Chief Man Eater s followers until he was the only one left (Westervelt, W. D., 1915, p200). One
day, a man looking for plants in the woods fell victim to Chief Man Eater, and his brother soon

Vyaderm Pharmaceuticals Case Analysis Essay
Vyaderm Pharmaceuticals Case Analysis| | | As consultant to Sanders and Myers, I would
suggest they rethink the continuation of economic value added ( EVA ) bonus payout process.
The proposed EVA bonus payout structure is supposed to be an objective way to gauge and
reward employee performance; however, through no fault of their own, the Dermatology group
is slated to undergo severe ebbs and flows in their incentive and could potentially wreak havoc
on employee morale and retention. For example, in Exhibit E, we see that the dermatology
group stands to receive a $251, 451, payout as a result of a strong EVA at $31,361, a net gain of
28,440 vs. the 2009 EVA. We would also expect to see employees bank $131,451 in that same year.

The Principles Qualities Of A Good Teacher
In contrast, the type of inquire based approach that is taught in some of the SKE lessons at
University of Sussex allows the student to understand why a method works and encourage a
comprehension of the mechanics behind the steps taken to solve a problem. Personally, I have
noticed that as I gain confidence in my mathematical ability, these sessions become more
enjoyable. Still, to achieve confidence and be able to follow these lessons, I need to familiarize
myself with a method beforehand. For me this is most effectively achieved by solving series of
example problems by a given sequence of steps before embarking on a journey of understanding
the reasoning behind each step. These inquiry based lessons, therefore, are most valuable when
preceded by lessons with more direct instructions and teacher led demonstrations. Thus, this
supports my vision that since all students have their own preferred method for learning, even if
they are not aware of it, the ability to explain a topic in a number of different ways is one of the
principle qualities of a good teacher.
Interestingly, as part of the SKE course I was given the opportunity to spend some time in a college,
observing and assisting in lessons to students that needed to retake their GSCE exams. The main
method of teaching in these classes was purely instrumental, with the goal to equip the students with
the knowledge to pass their GSCE exams but without any deeper understanding of the methods. No

This article seeks to find which of the macroeconomic variables among FDI inflow, current account
balance, inflation and interest rate play a significant role in economic growth in Malaysia using
the SPSS Regression method for a time period of 14 years from 1995 to 2008 (Oct). The results of

In fact, FDI is said to be the most important contributing factor for Malaysia s economic
performance. The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to Malaysian soil started with the
introduction of the Investment Incentives Act 1968, and followed by the establishment of the Free
Trade Zones (FTZs) during the Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has
attracted a large portion of the investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example,
Malaysia was the second largest FDI recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion.
Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and 1997
respectively. The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of confidence as a result of
the Asian financial crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that investor confidence had improved.
Malaysia s highest FDI inflow was recorded in 2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion
from USD 6.0 billion in 2006.
FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign country. Foreign
direct investments create a strong demand for a local currency and help boost the economy. With
money coming into a country, strong foreign direct investment is one way governments can finance
current account deficits. However, just as funds flow in, they also can flow out,

Disadvantages Of Intermodal Transportation
Traffic congestion is a major urban issue and is not only environmentally harmful, but also costs the
travelers time and money. For these reasons, most of the cities in the world offer public
transportation methods so that more people can be moved efficiently to the same destination at
once. However, people living outside of these cities need to be inside of it in order to gain access to
the benefits of public transportation. Therefore, it has become an important project for Europe to
offer travelers intermodal transportation opportunities. Intermodal transportation involves people

With this, there are several parameters that could be set as preference to decide which route
would be ideal, for example we can choose the fastest one but also the cheapest one. Here,
regarding to several surveys [4] [7], it appears that the duration and the costs of travel are the most
relevant parameters, with costs being more important to the commuters. To choose the best
parameter in this case, it is best to create a survey and ask potential users for their preferences of
what intermodal transportation should offer them. This way, we increase the possibility for the
usage of intermodal transportation in Aachen since the most preferred parameters vary from city
to city and especially country to country because of different cultures. As shown in Figure 2,
illustrating the routes on a map to the commuter is an important step since that is the way of
informing the user of the route and also distinguishes the three steps described in Figure 1. The

Christian College Freshmen Should Make Time For A Daily Bible
College can be a very difficult adjustment for freshman to make, especially for freshmen that are
believers in Christ. While the struggles and evils of the world bare down on them, students need a
source of fulfillment and safety. That can be found within a daily study of the bible. Christian
college freshmen should make time for a daily biblestudy so that they may grow closer with the
Lord, get help and guidance for life, and reach a deeper understanding of what the bible says so
they can defend against attacks. A daily bible study plays a major part for college freshman to
grow closer to Christ. God set the bible as the main source for revealing Himself. The bible is
His love letter to all humans, and by reading and studying it every day, they can start to truly
understand God s great character and His great love. God s character is revealed within the bible
s pages; it tells of His great majesty and grandeur. If students do not dive into the word, they will
miss how holy and perfect He is. Christ s ultimate sacrifice is also explained multiple times in
the bible. He demonstrated His great love for us by dying on a cross, defeating sin, and rising
from the grave. He did all of this to save His creation, so they may come live with Him.
Christians who do not study the bible can take His sacrifice for granted so easily. Freshmen must
understand what Christ did for them and know how great their Lord is. Students can grow closer to
Christ through prayer as well. God has given

chosen from select units. The units chosen were from the medical unit and critical care units.
The size of the sample consisted of 42 nurses. The nurses were chosen from various management
levels. Interviews were conducted on 11 staff nurses, 12 charge nurses, 10 head nurses, and 9
supervisors. There were 33 females and 9 males in the study. Most participates had a BSN and
had an average of five years charge nurse experience. The size of the study was adequate because

Southwest United States. The study addresses the fact that there are differences in military versus
civilian nursing. The major difference is that military nursing must deal with issues such as
deployment. The study also states that the information would be applicable to and benefit both
areas of nursing. Data Collection Methods After the participants were chosen, then interviews were

Euthanasia
Physician Assisted Suicide John Key once said If I had terminal cancer, I had a few weeks to live,
I was in tremendous amount of pain if they just effectively wanted to turn off the switch and
legalize that by legalizing euthanasia, I d want that (Brainyquote, web). John Key, the Prime
Minister of New Zealand, supports euthanasia. Since Key has been in office, the public support for
euthanasia went up 70%. If people are changing around the world, then why are Americans not
changing to accept that assisted suicide is morally correct and provides the terminally ill with the
right to die with dignity?
Five states legalized physician assisted suicide. These states are Oregon, Vermont, Washington,
New Mexico, and Montana. The laws state that physician assisted suicide allows terminally ill
patients to end their lives easily and painlessly. The process is simple. People have a right to die.
There are two key points supporting why this law should morally has to be passed all throughout
the country. If someone is suffering, the choice to end their lives should be an option. However,
from a legal standpoint, it can run the risks of being considered murder. Therefore, this all depends
on the legal and ethical forms of assisted dying.
Starting in 1994, as mentioned above, five states in the U.S. gave the option of physician assisted
suicide. Oregon, the first state to approve physician assisted suicide, let the people vote if they want

Criticism And Imagery In Richard III, By William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare s Richard III is an historical tragedy written in 1591. The play covers
events in the latter years of the War of the Roses (1455 1485). That war a prolonged, intermittent
conflict between the two noble houses of York and Lancaster; the play chronicles the bloody
deeds and atrocities perpetrated by its central figure the murderous and tyrannical King Richard
III. After a long war between the noble houses of York and Lancaster, England is at peace under
the ruling of King Edward IV and the victorious family of York. But Edwards s younger brother,
Richard Duke of Gloucester resents Edwards s power and the happiness of those around him.

In this metaphor, he compares conscience with a creature with many tongues. That his tongue

flies as fast as a swallow. Hope that their hope would fly fast as like a swallow and it will come
true. And it did come true. Richmond killed Richard III and became the king. Richard III opens in
1483 with the title character delivering one of Shakespeare s most famous soliloquies. The first

Edward IV, has reclaimed the throne and the War of the Roses, which began in 1455, appears to

Death Of A Salesman, By Arthur Miller
Transference: Revealing True Thoughts While reading Death of a Salesman, many readers
become intrigued with the relationships of the Loman family. One relationship in particular is
Willy and his son, Biff s. In the play, Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, Willy
Loman exemplifies the psychological theory of transference onto his son, Biff, because he is
unable to accept his own reality. There is an underlying meaning to the behavior of these two
characters. The topics of transference, communication, and how a parent s infidelity affects
their children show how this statement is proven to be true. Arthur Miller s own life also
contributes greatly to the father son relationship within this literary work as well. Transference
is a large part of this play: it is a transference of Willy s feelings of himself onto Biff. As defined
by Psychiatrist Mark Dombeck: Transference is a simple appearing idea that has to do with the
way people understand one another and form relationships with one another. As its name suggests,
it involves the idea of transferring something from one place to another. What is being transferred
in this case is an understanding of a person. Where it is being transferred to is onto another person.
When transference is occurring, basically what is happening is that we are trying to understand
someone (usually someone we don t know very well) by making an assumption that they are
similar to someone else, and will thus feel and behave in

The Arab-Israeli Conflict In The 1800s
The Arab Israeli conflict has been an ongoing issue from the 1800s. The conflict is based on the
struggle for land for both the Jews and the Arabs. When the 1947 partition plan was established by
the United Nations to split Palestine into two states, the Palestinian Arab people ended up with less
land than the Jewish (Jewish 56 percent and Arabs 43 percent of Palestine). This decision lead to
war between the two groups, meaning that there was no peace. The Arabs have been through a lot
since the Partition plan came into play. Not only do they have to share land with the Jews, but after
the partition plan, the Jews threated and killed some of the Arabs out of their own country, which
resulted in them becoming refugees. Both parties believe... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills ( Calp )
1.Compare and contrast BICS and CALP. Name one point that you think teachers should know
about second language acquisition.
Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills (BICS) refers to a student s ability to understand basic
conversational English, sometimes called social language. Cognitive Academic Language
Proficiency (CALP) refers to a student s ability to effectively understand and use the more
advanced and complex language necessary for success in academic endeavors, sometimes referred
to as academic language.
The difference between this two is that BISCS is a more easy way of communication because is
base on a regular and basic language. CALP refers to a more technical vocabulary and
comprehension of an advance language.
One point teachers should be aware of language acquisition is that the child ability to participate in
a classroom may be affect because of the lack of communication, must of the time students that are
second language learners tend to stay quite and demonstrate lack of understanding. It is important to
identify these students to be able to approach and teach them adequately.

Personality Traits Of The Big Five
As we all know, humans come in all shapes, sizes, and personalities. A big part of being an adult
is entering the work field and finding a career. That s where the Big five personality traits come
in. The five traits that most employers base their tests off of are; neuroticism, extroversion,
agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience. So the next time you take a
pretest for employment would these would be good to keep in mind. Especially when
determining if you re a good fit for that position. As stated earlier, the big five personality traits
are neuroticism, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness to experience
(sevencounties.org). There are other personalities that we as people have. It s a way to express
ourselves and communicate with others. But the big five was picked to help focus in on a
successful work environment. Neuroticism is how easily the person will experience unpleasant
emotions, such as depression, anger, and anxiety (sevencounties.org). This will measure how the
person will be able to handle uncomfortable situations involved with these emotions. In the
workplace we don t only have to deal with consumers, we also have to deal with our fellow
coworkers. This will help prepare someone for the workplace. The next personality is extroversion.
Extroversion describes how much energy one would have and if they would be able to interact with
others (sevencountries.org). Communication is a very import life

In each writer s work, the atonement with the father occurs through the hero or heroine meeting the
power that controls them, the power that motivates them to complete their journey. The hero or

William Butler Yeats knows that he lives forever through all those who continue to read and

the idea that poems keep the poet alive forever derives from philosophical thought and reasoning,
similar to the aging man that visits the mosaic painting. Similar to the aging man in the poem, Yeats

How Do Buildings Mean By William Whyte
Language in architecture is considered an imperative part of designing, embedding itself within
architectural gestures spanning a number of historical periods including contemporary projects of
today. Throughout William Whyte s essay How Do Buildings Mean? Some Issues of Interpretation
in the History of Architecture(2006), Whyte thoroughly dissects the concept of meaning within
architecture, questioning a number of approaches to discerning the meaning behind a building.
...we commonly do experience architecture as communication... Umberto Eco
Discussing various approaches to perceiving meaning within architecture (understanding
architecture as an expression of underlying social orders; treating architecture as a result of the
Zeitgeist, and finally; interpreting architecture as an independent sign system comprised of its own
grammar, syntax and ways of meaning), Whyte claims architecture can be understood as an analogy
to language. Subsequently, Whyte claims that simply interpreting meaning with architecture is
challenging due to the complexity of a building. To truly understand an architectural meaning,
Whyte states a number of perspective shifts must occur, ensuring all design stages, from concept
through to construction is accounted for due to the ever evolving nature of a project and therefore ...

Environmental Sociology Essay
Development processes is connected with environmental degradation and use of natural resources.
Rudel et al. (2011) assumes the present of two distinct waves of development power which control
environment. The first wave of political economy deals with the power of capitalism as the main
agent for environmental degradation, while the second wave concern with the social power
(community) to control the use of natural resources.
In this first wave scenario, the idea is that capitalism is a significant power for shaping the

(2011) provides examples of this theory by pointing the heavy industrial production in East Asia and
former socialist countries after World War II. Principally, Treadmill Production Theory do not
consider population and affluent as significant factor for environmental degradation, and put more
emphasis on the issue of technology as the main contributor for the decrease of environmental
quality. Both the IPAT/STIRPAT and Treadmill Production theories overlook the condition behind
the scene , why the technology exists in the process of development. In other words, these theories
do not consider the social actors which are responsible for the present of this technology.
Indeed, the coercion of capital to exploit natural resources is possible only because it is supported
by the conglomeration of powerful social actors behind it. According to Growth Machine Theories,
syndication of vested interests (government, land owners, developers, real estate companies), which
often claim themselves as pro growth coalition, encourages local development through real estate

While it s obvious that the costs of education will increase on the part of the state, the outcome
will counterbalance that cost in a rather simple way. Educated people, usually, leave school and
enter higher paying jobs (Los Angeles Times). This, alone, will greatly affect the economy in a
positive way. It will increase the number of people stimulating the economy by buying higher
ticket items (like houses, cars, etc.) and help keep the population out of debt. Studies also suggest
that attending a community college increases the chances of a student attending another college to
complete higher level degrees (USA Today College). More than likely, that student will be paying
to attend that college, which is a payment straight to the government. Having more educated
workers will also decrease the number of people on government assistance programs (The
American Prospect). Because people are working better jobs with higher incomes, the chances of
them having to sign up for programs like Welfare and MediCal are greatly reduced. There are also
studies that suggest that educated people tend to be healthier, which will give the state a healthier

Such a diversionary approach, seemingly employed to shift attention away from domestic turmoil,

Riyadh has returned to Iraq after a long absence, hoping to increase political influence and explore

What Is The Middle Class Characters In The Pardoners Tale
Middle Class England
To be rich or to be poor that s the question of life. Their are some people that are poor. There are
some people that are very well of. Then there s that group of people that sits right in the middle
between poor and rich. This cluster of people is the group of white collar workers who make
enough money to live comfortably. This group is the middle class, and in the story the Pardoner s
Tale there is three characters that are deemed as middle class people. These three are Merchant,
the Oxford Cleric, and the Sergeant of Law. The author does a good job depicting the life of a
middle class person. He this does by showing the three main aspects that separates them. By
describing their degree of wealth, their level of education , and their political power.
The first middle class character we are introduced to is the merchant. The merchant was a
middle class man trying to live like he had lots of money. He spent money on clothes that he could
not afford. He also borrowed lots of money and spent the borrowed money on clothes. He was a
man of trade and was very good at his job. He did not need a high level of education for this job.
He was also not a man of high power in politics due to his problem with borrowing money. He
was looked down upon for this. Which is why he was thought less of by higher ranking people.
The second character we are introduced to is the oxford cleric. He was never worried about money

that is whether or not it benefits the economy in the U.S. One of the first things to note is that
stopping offshore drilling could potentially damage the U.S. economy, and therefore how much
energy we can overall use. According to Mason, Joseph R., author of, The Oil Industry Supports

Concept
Availability heuristic can be defined as making a choice based on immediate and easy examples
that comes to the mind more easily when evaluating a decision. Even though availability heuristic
has many pros such as saving time when making a choice, it does come with cons. This is because
the availability heuristic distorts our understanding of real threats and risks. For example, Tom is
a 10 year old boy that adores puppies and loves playing with them. One day he saw a puppy bite
its owner. Due to this small incident, Tom avoids playing with puppies even though the likelihood
of it happening is slim. Since this heuristic draws from immediate and easy examples, it uses
system 1 to evaluate our decisions. As we already know system 1 can lead to a lot of incorrect
assessments in comparison to system 2.
Example
A recent news article came out with the title Four arrested after armed home invasion in Vaughn .
Where the article talks about how four individuals entered a home armed.

Explanation
My parents rarely read the news due to lack of time, but they knew about this incident because it
was close to our home and all my relatives were talking about it. After the article came out, a few
days later my parents replaced all locks in our house with more secure ones and installed security
cameras, even though the chance of it happening to our house was

The Impact Of Modernism
Jonathan Glance , author of the book 20th Century Architecture ; The Structures That Shaped The
Century describes modernism as an attitude rather than a style an attempt to free the architect from
the rules of convention. Form following function was an attribute adopted by architectural
modernists. As a result of this, modern architectureis no longer ornamentally focused but uses
materials such as concrete, glass, steel and wood for functional construction. With reference to Le
Corbusier and his architectural masterpiece, Ville Savoye, this essay will discuss and analyze the
impact the industrial revolution had on modernism, the influence the Bauhaushad on architectural
development, social and economical effects that influenced social trends, how modernism was
received and reviewed by society and why the modernist dream ultimately failed.
The Industrial Revolution was a period of time that gave birth to a ... Show more content on

Decompartmentation is made up of three aspects: ascetics technics and society.
Decompartmentation is when things that are normally categorized into groups are now not
distributed but used together in order to achieve a desired result. He believed that design could be
used as a solution to solve the alienation in modern, urban society and thus using
decompartmentalization in linking social problems and design to create a solution. It was meant to
improve the population who consumed it states Greenhalgh when discussing his views on
modernism. Due to this critic it reiterates that Le Corbusier did initially solve many of the social
issues such as creating more land space by building upwards, building houses out of cheaper
materials to help provide to those effected by the economic crisis and creating houses without
ornamentation. However due to his neglect in focusing on the comfort of people living in these
houses his work was

Organic Milk Vs Organic Food
Introduction
Milk is a perfect food that is essential for health and proper growth of the human body. It contains
carbohydrates, proteins, minerals, fats, and many vitamins in proper a ratio that is needed for the
development of the human body. In today s society, the emphasis on organic food and
conventional food is quite big. Many say that organic food is much healthier and more nutritious
than conventional. Milk is an important food in many people s diets, it is essentially the food that
babies grow up on and it is important to know what is healthier. It is defined that organic milk
comes from cows that have not been treated with antibiotics and given hormones, and have been
fed at least 30% of its diet on pasture. Conventional milk can be produced the same way, but it does
not have to follow the strict rules. It is important to determine whether organic milk is worth the
money and if it is healthier than conventional milk. Several studies have been analyzed and they
split in opinion whether organic milk is healthier. The studies that support the yes argument, state
that organic milk is healthier because it has higher levels of conjugated linoleic acid and О±
linolenic acid; of minerals such as selenium; and the ration of n 6 to n 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids
is lower. The studies supporting the no side, state that it was determined that the abundance of
oligosaccharides, the concentration of Vitamin A, Vitamin E and ОІ carotene, and the levels of
estrogen were similar

Martha Stewart Ethical Behavior
Introduction
Martha Stewart is an American Home decorator Icon surrounded by accusations of Inside trading,
Obstruction of justice, False statements and Conspiracy. Her trial and investigation lasted for two
years ending with her being found guilty of charges and convicted to spend time in jail, home
arrest and probation. In this work I will expose Martha Stewart s behavior and why her actions
were considered outlaw, unethical and unprofessional. I will also explain which ethical behavior
she used and how that affects her image, financial status, social position, fame and followers.
But who is Martha Stewart and what is her background? I personally didn t know who Martha
Stewart was until her case came out to the public, still until today ... Show more content on

The Security and Exchange Commission is the organization who monitors fraudulent transactions
and insider trading. Some experts in ethical behavior consider inside trading the most dramatic form
of utilitarian ethics.
Martha s Ethical Behavior
Since 2002 Martha Stewart was investigated by the SEC and the FBI for Inside Trading but it is
interesting that she wasn t found guilty or accused on any of those charges; she was charge for
conspiracy, obstruction of justice and false statement. It was her un ethical behavior what drove
her into innumerable allegations and public embarrassments. There are at least four issues in this
case where ethics play a very interesting and critical role; Freedom of speech, Conspiracy, Right of
property and Inside trading.
1.Freedom of Speech
When Martha Stewart was accused the first problem presented was the Media and how her case
was going to be handled. Martha s Stewart lawyer Robert Morvillo along with Martha s publicist
and show producers orchestrated a plan to keep Martha s image as clean and honest as possible.
They didn t waste time by using the media, Martha s TV show and Magazine to defend her position
and manipulate the public opinion towards Martha s innocence. It is clear that in court previous
information and announcements of her innocence will create in the future juror s minds the
reasonable doubt needed to find her innocent. The judge immediately imposed a gag order to
control the flow of information and to avoid

Legislative Process in the Malaysia Parliament
Question 1
Article 44 of the federal Constitution vests the legislative authority of Malaysia Parliament. Explain
the legislative process in the Malaysia Parliament.
In Article 44, the legislative authority of the Federation shall be vested in a Parliament, which
shall consist of the Yang di Pertuan Agong and two Majlis (Houses of Parliament) to be known
as the Dewan Negara (Senate) and the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives). My opinion
about the legislation is refers to laws made by a person or body, which has power to make law. In
Malaysia, Parliament and Legislative Assemblies have powers to enact laws in their respective
areas. Laws made by Parliament may extend to the whole country. However, laws enacted by a

The legislative procedure in the State Assemblies is almost similar to that in the Federal Parliament
with some local variations. Bill are passed by the one chamber by Legislative Assembly and
assented to by the Ruler or Yang di Pertua Negeri before becoming law, and no law can come into
force until it is published. Bills requiring expenditure from the Consolidated Funds have to be
introduced by a member of the Executive Council. State Constitution, with certain exceptions may
also be amended on the same format as an amendment of the Federal Constitution, that is, supported
on the second and third reading by at least two third of the total number of members. The
constitutional provisions affecting succession to the throne in the Malay State may not be the
subjects of amendment by the State Legislature.
A Bill is adopted by a simple majority vote of those members present and voting. There are several
exception to this rules, the most significant being constitutional amendment in accordance with
article 159 of Federal Constitution. Bill shall not been passed in either House of Parliament unless
it has been supported on the second and third readings by the votes of not less than two third of the
total number of members of that House.
The Yang di Pertuan Agongis an integral part of Parliament. His assent is normally before a Bill
becomes law. Royal Assent is not effect within a time specified, the Bill becomes law as if it had

The Is Representative Of A. Y Gasset s The Dehumanization...
1) Oliverio Girondo s poetry is representative of a new style of art encompassed in JosГ© Ortega
y Gasset s The Dehumanization of Art. Aesthetics no longer conform to the traditional classical
style but instead, champions a futurist type meant to bypass the limitations of rationale in a
trivial and playful nature likened to sport. Girondo clearly breaks from the platonic ideals of
beauty and delves into the aesthetics of the grotesque by using antipoetic language, which
sublimes the abject. This is made obvious early in Scarecrow other anomalies as he writes that
he couldn t care less if women have breasts like fresh magnolias or withered figs, skin smooth as
a peach or rough as sand paper. [...] breath of an aphrodisiac or the breath of an insecticide.
(Girondo 7). Girondo often uses ludic and vulgar language and has a clear objective of
relegating humans to beasts or objects, for example, he describes May a spider s foot sprout
from each of your pores, [...] may all the inhabitants of the city mistake you for a urinal. [...] May
your family amuse itself deforming your bone structure, so that mirrors, looking at you, commit
suicide out of sheer repugnance (Girondo 75). Girondo s scarecrow calligram illustrates the new
style of art masterfully as he creates an extended metaphor to ridicule bourgeois ideals, literarily
from head to toe intended to scare bourgeois aesthetics, instead of accustomed crows. Girondo
ultimately describes that a book should be put together like a

Comparing a Chartered Public Accountant and a Chartered...
Accountant
Career Demand The public accountant provides a range of accounting and auditing services to
everyone from individual taxpayers to businesses. Accountants can even become more specialized
and become auditors and government accountants. Accounting is typically a 9 5 weekday job, as
those are the hours that most businesses operate. Some overtime is typically required if there is an
audit or it is tax season. The primary roles of a public accountant can be divided into three distinct
jobs. The first job, and the most commonly accomplished, is known as performing external audits of
companies (Public Accountant Job Description). Under Sarbanes Oxley, United States businesses
must submit a full audit of their company s annual budget sheets along with many other financial
documents to an external accountant who reviews the documents and certifies that the reports are
accurate (Zhang, 2007). The second job that accountants have is offering tax services to the public
(Public Accountant Job Description). Often citizens prefer that an accountant complete their taxes
annually, especially if that person is self employed. The third job that accountants complete is
consult services. Often corporate and estate planning law firms willl hire accountants to assist in
creating ideal wealth management options for clients and ensure that those options are in agreement
with current tax laws.

  • 2. The Prevalence Of Stressors And Anxiety Disorders Introduction Stress and anxiety affect a large segment of the child and adolescent population. Numerous stressors from a wide range of domains contribute to the current levels of subclinical anxiety and diagnosed anxiety disorders. Without effective coping strategies, the cumulative effect of these stressors can lead to the clinical diagnosis of one or more anxiety disorders. Left untreated, these disorders can carry severe long term consequences, including social, cognitive, and academic impairments. Furthermore, these deficiencies can lead to significant limitations in adulthood, such as reduced career choices, substance abuse, and an increase in the use of both mental and physical health care. This paper will first review the prevalence of stressors and anxiety disorders, as well as the associated negative outcomes. It will then investigate the merits and limitations of several programs designed to treat and prevent anxiety disorders. Lastly, this article will discuss the FRIENDS for Life program, and a means of implementation. Background Significance Prevalence of Stressors and Anxiety Numerous studies have demonstrated the impact of stress on the lives of youth. Adolescents are exposed to a plethora of stressors that range from family discord (Omizo, Omizo, Suzuki, 1988) to peer relationships (Newcomb, Huba, Bentler, 1986; Patterson McCubbin, 1987) to economic hardships (Lempers, Clark Lempers, Simon, 1989). In Poetics , Aristotle defines and outlines tragedy for theatre in a way that displays his genius, but raises questions and creates controversy. Aristotle s famous definition of tragedystates: A tragedy is the imitation of an action that is serious, and also as having magnitude, complete in itself in language with pleasurable accessories, each kind brought in separately in the parts of the work; in a dramatic, not in a narrative form: with incidents arousing pity and fear; wherewith to accomplish its catharsis of such emotions. In Oedipus the King , Sophocles characterization of the protagonist is in near perfect compliance with the traits Aristotle outlined in Poetics . In the first scene, the foundation is laid showing King Oedipus as a good and kind King. He speaks with the city elder, showing his compassion and promising to relieve the city of Thebes of a plague. As the story line plays out, Oedipus s character flaws of anger and compulsiveness begin to appear. These defects force the king into situations he would have been better to avoid, including his own fate death or banishment. When an Oracle reveals the prophecy that Oedipus will kill his father and marry his mother, Oedipus leaves his comfortable life with King Polybus of Corinth and his wife Merope, who he believes are his biological parents. On his way to the city of Thebes, Oedipus kills a stranger on the road who turns out to be Laius, King of Thebes and unbeknownst to him, his biological father. When Oedipus arrives in Thebes he saves the city from the curse of the Sphinx, as a result is made King and marries the dead King s Queen, Jocasta, his mother, thus fulfilling the prophecy. Oedipus is a victim of his own destiny and despite doing everything right; there s nothing he could have done that would have changed his life. • 4. Themes And Reflection Of The Allegory Of Young Goodman Brown 1)What is the tone of this passage? Which words convey this tone? Despite the sporadic shift in of tone with words such as brightening and sunshine, the overall passage is very somber and serious. The authors use of dark, sorrow, lamentations, and black mass, to describe the situation presented the events as deceitful and wicked. 2)Where does the author use imagery? The author uses imagery in the passage more than once. For example, the lines black mass of cloud and hid the brightening stars, suggest that the cloud deprives the forest of it s of light. The imagery suggests that the forest is now dark and therefore gives the reader an ominous feeling about the events to come. 3)What is the theme of this passage? The theme of ... Symbolism: The forest in the story symbolizes evil and corruption because according to Puritan beliefs, the forest is the home of the devil. This is important to the story because Goodman Brown does encounter evil inside of the forest instead of in the village. Situational Irony: Situational irony is seen when Goodman Brown hides in the forest to avoid being seen by Goody Cloyse. Goody Cloyse, his catechism teacher, is known as holy among the villagers. The reader expects Goody Cloyse to be surprised and afraid upon encountering the old man, but the opposite happened she walked with him. This is situational irony because the reader expected Cloyse to avoid evil rather than joining into communion with it. Dramatic Irony: In the short story Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne used dramatic irony to foreshadow dark events that would occur later that night through Faith s dreams. The reader can assume that Faith s nightmares anticipate Goodman Brown s unholy actions in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Literature Review On Hbcus LITERATURE REVIEW Background on HBCUs According to the National Center for Educational Statistics (NCES), there are 101 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Title III of the Higher Education Act of 1965 defines HBCUs as ...any historically Black college or university that was established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans, and that is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association determined by the Secretary [of Education] to be a reliable authority as to the quality of training offered or is, according to such an agency or association, making reasonable progress toward accreditation (US Department of Education, 2017). It is important to note that unlike other Minority Serving Institutions, HBCUs, are only one of two types of institutions (Tribal Colleges Universities or TCUs are the other) federally designated by law and therefore, cannot increase in number with an act of Congress (Li, 2007). In other words, every time an HBCU closes its doors, we get one step closer to the elimination of the historical and consequential institutions. To understand the significance of these institutions one must understand the context in which these institutions were established. In the most basic sense, HBCUs were established because of racism (Evans, Evans, Evans, 2002). Prior to the Civil War, few universities espoused the mission and goal of training and education Black people (Albritton, 2012). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Solar Power Importance Solar power is an important aspect of life that people should consider putting in their homes. Solar power is the process of obtaining the energy from the sun and converting it to multiple uses. It can be used to light, heat, and cool homes for cheaper than electric companies. Solar power is created by using a device called a solar panel. Solar panels are used to soak up the suns rays to create renewable energy for homes and businesses. Solar poweris saved during the daylight so that it can be used during the night. If it is a cloudy day; enough energy can be preserved. If it isn t, the solar panel can still get the energy it needs if the sun s rays shine through the clouds. On a cloudy day, the thicker the clouds the less energy obtained(U.S. Department of Energy,2009). Solar power is mostly used in places with the most sunshine. For example, they are majorly used in places in the United States like California, New Mexico, and Arizona. Another good place to have solar panels is in other countries, especially close to the equator. Close to the equator is a good spot for the use of solar panels because the sun s rays are stronger there. The process of creating the Solar panel is not an easy process. Solar panels are made up of mostly different types of silicon and glass like substances. The process of making them and installing them is costly, but after that they are done, they are fine. The court ruled, Requires that the NCAA s caps on compensation must at least reflect the full cost of school attendance (rather than merely tuition and supplies). The court also held that $5,000 trust funds would be acceptable, so long as the revenue was distributed equally to all players on a team, but rejected direct endorsements as inconsistent with the valid objectives of the NCAA. (Lemieux, 2014) This ruling will have a big impact on the business model and structure of the NCAA going forward. According to experts, The impact of the ruling will not be radical in the short term as scholarships will become more valuable and players will receive some indirect benefits from licensing of their names and images. • 10. Scarlet Letter Written in 1850, Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and a multitude of themes, The Scarlet Letter remains today as an extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement, but it was also the beginning of the first wave of feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Many may believe that because of this introduction to feminism, the novel directly pertains to the ideology of it. Hester Prynne, protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, shows similar qualities of a feminist, such as strength and independence. Although these traits are similar to that of feminist, Hester encompasses a strict form of maternal instinct, which distinguishes her drive for action from the feminist movement entirely. The strength portrayed in Hester Prynne, a well known adulteress in this New World society, has no direct relationship to feminism as we view it today. Hawthorne s representation of Hester s strength is simply a personal trait, not an idea used to strive for equality among women. As Hester progresses through her hardships, the meaning of the scarlet letter embroidered on her bosom shifts from a negative connotation to a positive one, in fact many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. The Principles Qualities Of A Good Teacher In contrast, the type of inquire based approach that is taught in some of the SKE lessons at University of Sussex allows the student to understand why a method works and encourage a comprehension of the mechanics behind the steps taken to solve a problem. Personally, I have noticed that as I gain confidence in my mathematical ability, these sessions become more enjoyable. Still, to achieve confidence and be able to follow these lessons, I need to familiarize myself with a method beforehand. For me this is most effectively achieved by solving series of example problems by a given sequence of steps before embarking on a journey of understanding the reasoning behind each step. These inquiry based lessons, therefore, are most valuable when preceded by lessons with more direct instructions and teacher led demonstrations. Thus, this supports my vision that since all students have their own preferred method for learning, even if they are not aware of it, the ability to explain a topic in a number of different ways is one of the principle qualities of a good teacher. Interestingly, as part of the SKE course I was given the opportunity to spend some time in a college, observing and assisting in lessons to students that needed to retake their GSCE exams. The main method of teaching in these classes was purely instrumental, with the goal to equip the students with the knowledge to pass their GSCE exams but without any deeper understanding of the methods. The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to Malaysian soil started with the introduction of the Investment Incentives Act 1968, and followed by the establishment of the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) during the Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has attracted a large portion of the investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example, Malaysia was the second largest FDI recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion. Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and 1997 respectively. The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of confidence as a result of the Asian financial crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that investor confidence had improved. Malaysia s highest FDI inflow was recorded in 2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion from USD 6.0 billion in 2006. FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign country. Foreign direct investments create a strong demand for a local currency and help boost the economy. Five states legalized physician assisted suicide. These states are Oregon, Vermont, Washington, New Mexico, and Montana. There are two key points supporting why this law should morally has to be passed all throughout the country. If someone is suffering, the choice to end their lives should be an option. One relationship in particular is Willy and his son, Biff s. In the play, Death of a Salesman, written by Arthur Miller, Willy Loman exemplifies the psychological theory of transference onto his son, Biff, because he is unable to accept his own reality. There is an underlying meaning to the behavior of these two characters. The topics of transference, communication, and how a parent s infidelity affects their children show how this statement is proven to be true. Arthur Miller s own life also contributes greatly to the father son relationship within this literary work as well. Transference is a large part of this play: it is a transference of Willy s feelings of himself onto Biff. As defined by Psychiatrist Mark Dombeck: Transference is a simple appearing idea that has to do with the way people understand one another and form relationships with one another. As its name suggests, it involves the idea of transferring something from one place to another. What is being transferred in this case is an understanding of a person. Where it is being transferred to is onto another person. When transference is occurring, basically what is happening is that we are trying to understand someone (usually someone we don t know very well) by making an assumption that they are similar to someone else, and will thus feel and behave in ... • 41. Availability Heuristic Advantages And Disadvantages 1.Availability Heuristic Concept Availability heuristic can be defined as making a choice based on immediate and easy examples that comes to the mind more easily when evaluating a decision. Even though availability heuristic has many pros such as saving time when making a choice, it does come with cons. This is because the availability heuristic distorts our understanding of real threats and risks. For example, Tom is a 10 year old boy that adores puppies and loves playing with them. One day he saw a puppy bite its owner. Due to this small incident, Tom avoids playing with puppies even though the likelihood of it happening is slim. Since this heuristic draws from immediate and easy examples, it uses system 1 to evaluate our decisions. As we already know system 1 can lead to a lot of incorrect assessments in comparison to system 2. Aesthetics no longer conform to the traditional classical style but instead, champions a futurist type meant to bypass the limitations of rationale in a trivial and playful nature likened to sport. Girondo clearly breaks from the platonic ideals of beauty and delves into the aesthetics of the grotesque by using antipoetic language, which sublimes the abject. [...] May your family amuse itself deforming your bone structure, so that mirrors, looking at you, commit suicide out of sheer repugnance (Girondo 75). Girondo s scarecrow calligram illustrates the new style of art masterfully as he creates an extended metaphor to ridicule bourgeois ideals, literarily from head to toe intended to scare bourgeois aesthetics, instead of accustomed crows. Girondo ultimately describes that a book should be put together like a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
