Compare and contrast the Aztec civilization and the Mayan...
The Aztecs civilization and the Mayan civilization where the most important civilizations from the
new world that amazed many of the Europeans that came to conquer this wonderful rich land. The
Europeans where amazed with the Aztec and Mayan culture, their ways of life, their geographical
surroundings and their technology. The Europeans and historians today find that the Aztecs and the
Mayans where similar in some ways of life like their culture, their technology, their religious events
and at the same time they had their differences in their cultures.
The Aztec civilization dominated the valley of Mexico during the fifteen and the sixteen centuries.
Their culture was seen as unethical to the Europeans that were in Aztec territory and ... Show more

At the very top of Aztec society was the Tlacatecuhtli or chief men that dominated all religious
ceremonies and was the military leader of the Aztecs. Below him were religious offices that served
as military generals.
The religion of the Aztecs was made up of mainly three gods: Huitzilopochtli, Tezcatlipoca and
Quetzalcoatl. Below these three main gods were four creating gods. Below these four gods were
many other gods, however the most important were Tlaloc, the rain god, Chalchihuitlicue, the god
of growth and Xipe, the god of spring. The main thing that captures the attention of Aztec religion is
their human sacrifice made to the different gods. Although human sacrifice was practiced around
Mesoamerica, the Aztecs practiced human sacrifice in a large scale never seen before to date.
The idea of human sacrifice was that Gods gave things to humans like food, rain, wealth, and
other goods only if they were given human beings in return. The Aztecs believed that the goods
liked best the living hearths of sacrificed captives. If the captive was a well skilled soldier and
very brave then the Gods would return better goods to his people. This idea lead to wars were the
Aztecs fought with other indians and capture their bravest men for sacrifice. As we can imagine,

Clemens High School
Samuel Clemens High School was established during the 1890 s, but it wasn t always as nice, big,
and crowded as it is now.
Samuel Clemens or Schertz School back in the 1890 s consisted of four classrooms downstairs,
one upstairs, and a large auditorium. The heating was an old woodstove and the AC was an open
window! The restroom? It was outdoors. As for the students, the school was so small that two
grades could fit in one classroom. The first graduating class consisted of just two members!
In 1967, construction for the main building and the field house of Samuel Clemens High School
was finally completed.

As population grows the opportunities for quality, available housing becomes an issue. More
people and less space is a combination leading only to crowded and uncomfortable students. As
space is taken up, it becomes more valuable. Strains cause distraction and disruption, a poor

High school, for most students, is a time of change and development. You not only discover more
about yourself, such as your ambitions, dreams and desires, but you also realize a greater
purpose for your life. Being raised in a Catholic family, there was a great importance put on
serving the less fortunate and loving our neighbors. I repeatedly hear the Sermon on the Mount
which encourages the followers of Christ to follow His footsteps and to be salt and light in the
world. Taking the values of my faith, I decided take my service to a greater height: starting
fundraisers.
In tenth grade, my English teacher posed the class with a question: what are you going to do for
your community? She emphasized the importance of making a positive impact, even if it meant
simply smiling as you hold the door open for someone. She prompted us to go out of our comfort
zone and do something for our community. While I had been volunteering at Church and at school,
I had never really taken a step out of my comfort zone. Instead of just helping out in, say, a soup

Hypersexualized Images
Mental disorders and hypersexualized images. Regarding other influences and impacts of photo
manipulation on body images and beauty, Day (2014) states that the three most common mental
disorders caused by photo manipulation are eating disorder, depression and low self esteem.
Furthermore, she lists out several statistics and surveys that prove its negativity on human
beings: 80% of women feel worse about themselves after seeing a beauty ad and people as young
as thirteen begin to feel unsatisfied about their body and how they look. As shocking as it is, a
study included in Day s (2014) article states that adolescent girls are more afraid of gaining weight
than getting cancer, losing their parents or nuclear war. Photo manipulation also creates a
hypersexualized issue: A study done in 2011 by the journal Sexuality and Culture shows that 2%
of men and 61% of women are hypersexualized (Nelson, 2012, p.180). Retouched photos are
continuously used as sex sales and convey the wrong definition of sexy that is almost unreachable

Dreisbach (2012) includes a survey from Glamour revealing that among the people who have

and removing excessive body fats, men focus on toning their muscles and make them look leaner
(Dreisbach, 2012). A blogger from In The Frow (2015) expresses her thoughts regarding men who
are under the pressure of maintaining their body. She shares that there are numerous men who

Impact Of Natural Resources On Economic Growth
QUESTION 9
Natural resource and its effect on economic growth and dynamics of conflicts.
1.0 Introduction
Natural resources are raw materials extracted from the earth. They are useful in many different
ways for its diversified opportunity of benefit and profit for economic development. Examples of
natural resources are mineral, oil, waterways, land, timber, diamonds, coals, coltan and genetic.
Majority of developing countries, distributions of natural resources vary from one geographic
location to another. The variability of location has caused greed and grievances in economic
development. This was attributed to more risk of conflict, weak governance, and poor economic
performance.
2.0 Effect of natural resources on economic growth.
According to Collier and Hoeffer (2003), there are three major factors that depend on the primary
commodity exports such as income per capita, rate of economic growth, and structure of the
economy, the higher the rate of primary commodities exports the higher the level of risk of conflict.
Developing countries that are dependent on natural resources are more liable to terms of trade
shocks, which leads to instability and dissatisfaction within the groups that suffer the shocks. Since
natural resources are wealth and unevenly distributed causes the rebel groups ventures in various
forms of extortion, exploitation, and trade of primary commodity. The best known types of conflict
are the diamond of Angola and

Gimme Shelter by The Rolling Stones is influential because it talks about the chaos surrounding
the Vietnam War and protests concerning the war. The Rolling Stones believe that the chaos of
war has spread outside the realms of war as was traditionally known. The Rolling Stones have
never shyed away from controversy so a politically charged song was not inconcievable. Gimme

subsequent protest. The Vietnam War was known as The Living Room War because it was the
first consistently televised war and with the increased presence of television in culture avoiding

In Gimme Shelter , The Rolling Stones sing, see the fire is sweeping our very street today , this
shows the frenzy and the extent of war protests in the late sixties. Prior to 1965, opposition to
the Vietnam War was primarily a leftist view but due to efforts by returning vetrans and media
publications a broad majority of Americans felt indifferent towards involvement in the war. High
profile figures such as Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., Jane Fonda, Muhhamed Ali,
and John Lennon had all been outspoken opponents of the war. American religious groups took
a pascifist view and called for peace as soon as possible. In 1968 there were 221 protests at 101
universities as over 16,000 Americans were killed in Vietnam during that year and public
awareness of atrocities committed by the United States in Vietnam was heightened. By the end of
the 1960 s protesting had become violent as indicated by the line in Gimme Shelter , gimme

citizen s daily lives and the need for escapement. A faction of the Students for a Democratic Society

Direct financial support to primary schools is a new observable fact in Tanzanian context. Little has

that in some schools, the funds were not fully utilized to serve the purpose in relation to centrally

Analysis Of George Orwell s The First Place
The main purpose of an exposition is to bring out the relationship between the book and law. It
not only takes into consideration the laws that are coded, but also the basic and natural laws that
govern our everyday lives. This part shall highlight the reasons as to why the novel was written in
the first place. It shall answer questions like why did the author bother to pick up a pen, articulate
his thoughts into words, and take time to write such a lengthy piece in an organised manner. This
part calls for exploration and asks the reader to delve into the intricacies of the thought process and
beliefs of the author.
It is said that George Orwell underwent a huge deal of trouble, not only mentally, but physically as

First I spent five years in an unsuitable profession (The Indian Imperial Police, in Burma), and
then I underwent poverty and the sense of failure. This increased my natural hatred of authority
and made me for the first time fully aware of the existence of the working classes, and the job in
Burma had given me some understanding of the nature of imperialism: but these experiences
were not enough to give me an accurate political orientation. Then came Hitler, the Spanish Civil
War, etc. By the end of 1935 I had still failed to reach a firm decision. The Spanish war and other
events in 1936 37 turned the scale and thereafter I knew where I stood. Every line of serious
work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism
and for democratic socialism, as I understand it. It seems to me nonsense, in a period like our
own, to think that one can avoid writing of such subjects. Everyone writes of them in one guise or
another. It is simply a question of which side one takes and what approach one follows. And the
more one is conscious of one s political bias, the more chance one has of acting politically without
sacrificing one s aesthetic and intellectual integrity.

Chapter 13: Because She Looks Like a Child
Kevin Bales Because She Looks Like a Child is an editorial piece that enlightens readers on a
tragedy that has befallen the country of Thailand for decades, sex trafficking and child prostitution.
Aside from the horrific realism of the stories portrayed throughout the piece, the cultural acceptance
and evolution of the epidemic is truly frightening and eye opening. Furthermore, Bales explains
how in time, sex trafficking and child prostitution has reached American soil in efforts to expand
profits and the market for these young, child slaves. While many steps have been taken by the

However, towards the northern mountains of Thailand, people aren t as lucky to live in the luxuries
their brothers and sisters do in the south of Thailand. The mountainous regions are home to harsh
living conditions, where only a tenth of the land if fit for agriculture. The result is, those who
control good land are well off; those who live in the higher elevations are not. So, without being
able to farm, or hunt, many families in the north have to look towards other sources of income.
These other sources often result in the selling of a child, presumably a girl child.
The choice to sell a daughter is a part of Thai culture; although it was not preferred, it was accepted
as a valid means of survival. Many girls would be sold to the South Thailand as a belief that they
would be working in service as housemaids or servers. Instead, many girls are being bought as sex
workers. Families would be compensated and would be able to pay for foods, and survival for
sometimes close to a year. So in hindsight, selling off one of your children to keep your family
alive seems like a logical thing to do. That saying, kill one, save a million, applies here.
The economic boom of 1977 to 1997 had a dramatic impact on Thailand s northern villages. While
the center of the country, Bangkok, was rapidly industrializing, the north fell behind. Due to a lack
of income and resources, the north had to watch the

Coercive Control Summary
A Review of Evan Stark s Coercive Control Doctor Evan Stark began writing his book Coercive
Control: How Men Entrap Women in Personal Life in 1995. Unquestionably so, completing this
book was an extensive undertaking. His entrenchment and immersion in the field of domestic
violence relating to social work, legal/policy and research, spans far greater than the twelve years
it took him to complete this book in 2007. Stark draws from, and acknowledges, colleagues as well
friendships that have provided him with the knowledge base necessary to complete such an
exhaustive work. Dr. Stark s credentials in the area of violence against women developed through
both his own academic career and his professional achievements. Additionally, the network... Show

Stark explains that where women are already subordinate, wife beating is supported by the
patriarchy and is a function of specific factors. Under the law women were not equal citizens to
men, so women that were abused by their husbands or family members attributed it to bad luck.
Industrialization widened the work home divide. That is, work done in the home (women s
work) and wage labour (men s work) was separated by sex, and the latter was considered real
work. In tandem with political and legal gains, throughout the twentieth century the rate of
women participating in the work forced increased. As capitalism became the major form of
social organization, and women were liberated and emancipated from men and the private
sphere, violence was no longer sufficient to enforce dependence on individual men. Stark
explains that this was because the material and political basis for patriarchy was displaced, and
the illogical privilege based solely on sex was exposed. Sexual hierarchies began to collapse, and
men began using a range of behaviours to compliment their use of force. Although it was not
specifically written about before the 1970s, this became known as coercive control. Each household
governed by coercive control, each relationship, becomes patriarchy in miniature (p. 194). Stark

Analysis Teletech 2005 WACC and Hurdle Rate: Risk drives required returns and is a fundamental
concept when determining whether or not a company is providing appropriate returns to its
shareholders. Teletech s policy was to use a uniform hurdle rate across segments. This policy works
well if each potential investment has the same risk. Unfortunately for Teletech, investments differ
in their level of risk and therefore in their required rates of return. To adequately assess potential
investments, Teletech should implement a hurdle rate for each segment and potentially risk adjust

We feel that she is both correct and incorrect in her logic and that ultimately segment hurdle rates
are a better measure of return maximization. Hurdle rates are an internal management tool and
can be set independent of WACC. We feel that the diversification of the company does help keep
capital costs down which benefit the company. However, the hurdle rate is the driving factor of
resource allocation. As more resources are shifted to the PS division, capital costs will begin to
increase along side risk. In addition, external investors and analysts have more information than
Helen is indicating. These analysts (36 following Teletech) and investors often look at companies
by the markets they are in. They specifically look at the types of returns each of Teletech s
segments are producing and are projected to produce and compare those to others in the industry.
This may be the main reason for Teletech s stock price and P/E ratio not keeping up with others in
the industry. Once again we feel that Teletech should institute segment specific hurdle rates.
Economic Profit: Teletech uses a calculation of Economic Profit (EP) to measure business unit
performance as well as evaluate and compensate the business unit leaders. We use the same EP
calculation to determine if the PS segment is underperforming and ultimately destroying value.

A review of literature was done and then based on the research; a survey was conducted to find
out what factors contribute to classroom teachers use of computers in instruction. Two previously
tested instruments that were used in large scale surveys were used to develop this survey.
Validity and reliability were established through the piloting procedures of Tailored Design
Method (Franklin, 2007). A modified pilot study or pretest was done by experts in education,
research, and technology. According to Lodico, Spaulding, and Voegtle (2010) any survey should
be pilot tested with a small group that was similar to the actual participants. The quantitative
design used was correlation. This study was a prediction study. The criterion variable was how
much and in what ways teachers used computers. The predictor variables were the factors of
leadership, time, and access and availability (Franklin, 2007). A five step process was used to
collect the data. There were four contacts by first class mail and the final contact was made by
priority mail. According to the article, inferential and descriptive statistics were used in this study.
Data was put into a statistical software program where the frequencies, percentages, means, and
standard deviations for each survey question were computed and then reported in tables. Multiple
correlations were computed and tested for significance (Franklin, 2007). According to the article,

How John Coltrane Influenced Jazz
The alto saxophonist, John Coltrane, was one of the most cultural ethical leaders of avant garde
jazz, in the 1960 s. He was an innovative composer and artist who pushed the boundaries of
contemporary jazz. Avant gardism liberated artists from the traditional form of jazz and pushed
them to question and change the whole idea of jazzitself. Coltrane was the type of musician who
believed that he could always be better than he already was. It was not unusual for someone to see
him always practicing his music, he would practice for hours and hours a day. Coltrane mastered a
lot of the different styles of jazz, because of this he went on to learn different types of music
from different backgrounds so that he could use it to improvise his music. From all the jazz artist
we have learned this semester, so far, Coltrane seems to be the one who had the greatest passion
for jazz. For this, I admire his hard work and passion he had for jazz. Even though he had already

Charlie Parker was a big inspiration to him, so much that Coltrane s sound of jazz was quite
similar to Parker s even though he did not play the same exact thing like other musician s would
do with Parker s music. Coltrane s music involved the use of scales, pedal points, multiphonics,

Walmart Mart s Impact On The United States

In 1962, author Sam Walton opened the first WalMart store situated in Rogers, Arkansas

Sam Walton was propelled by other rebate office chain stores. By keeping his retail costs lower
than alternate contenders stores he found himself able to open his second WalMart store that year
in Rogers, Arkansas. There were an aggregate of 24 stores in the condition of Arkansas by 1967

Because of this staunch hard working attitude and commitment to client care, WalMart asserted
from the get go that a formal morals system was pointless in light of the fact that the organization
had Mr. Sam s morals to take after (Ferrell, Fraederich Ferrell, p. 408).
WalMart is known not the biggest retailer on the planet additionally known for low advantages

healthier and low maintenance specialists. This was terrible press for WalMart and they needed to
do something to enhance their association with worker stakeholder s.
Making the moves to enhance medical advantages and wages is the thing that the organization
chose to do. In spite of the fact that WalMart improved upgrades by actualizing social insurance and
better wages despite everything they missed the mark when they chose to diminish their workforce.
This was bad on the grounds that client s are expecting extraordinary client administration and with
constrained representatives it is difficult to give great client administration.
Another moral issue that WalMart has had press on was Who s Responsible for the WalMart

Examples Of The Modern Tragic Hero
A tragic hero is a character that the audience identifies with. This character is born into a high
position, or worked diligently to achieve their goal. They possess a quality unknown to them, that
causes their downfall. Through strife and a long journey, the tragic hero is able to redeem
humanity. Three main theories of the tragic heroare the Aristotelian model, the Shakespearean
model, and the modern tragic hero. For instance, nobility is characterized by being upper class and
having elevated character. Romeo satisfies both these criteria through his position as son of the
Montague family, and he was even referred to as a gentleman by his enemies. Although he was

Hamilton is one individual that follows the modern tragic hero. Although known as the father of
the financial system, he started from nothing. While he gained immense power, Hamilton also had
a significant tragic flaw that contributed to his downfall. This hamartia eventually will lead to his
downfall like the literary examples. However, through his inability to stay passive he was able to
move to America. Continuing on in America he worked his way up the ranks, making enemies as
he gained power. Over time his opposition decided that he was becoming too much to handle and
needed to thwart his intentions. He was discredited and fell to nothingness which was his biggest

Portnoy s mother is one of main cause of his damaged mental state. Throughout the book it

comments how he would be locked out of his house as small child when he disobeyed Sophie his

A Brief Biography Of Pythagoras
A Brief Biography of Pythagoras Pythagoras was a Greek religious leader who made huge
developments in math. He is described as the first pure mathematician. Pythagoras is a very
important figure in the development of mathematics and he made many contributions to the math
we use today. Pythagoras was born c.570 BCE in Samos, Ionia, Greece and died on c.495 BCE
on Matapontion. There is not a lot of information about his childhood. In 532 BCE, Pythagoras
emigrated to Italy, where he attended a scientific school. One of the teachers who had a big
influence in Pythagoras life was Pherekydes. As well as Thales, a philosophe. Thales introduced
him to math ideas and suggested to go to Egypt to learn more about every subject. So he took...

This feeling modern mathematics has deliberately eliminated, but we still find overtones if it in

Operation Uranus Scene Analysis
Fighting in the streets in Stalingrad was a hellish scene. The plague of rats that infested the city,
the dead bodies left out in the open and the emergence of skilled snipers greatly affect both German
and Russian forces. With the winter approaching and the halt of the 6th Army and the 4th Panzer
Army in Stalingrad, the Russian Army decides to take action in order to turn the battle. The turning
point of the battle came with a huge Soviet counteroffensive, code named Operation Uranus
(November 19 23), which had been planned by Generals Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov,
Aleksandr Mikhailovich Vasilevsky, and Nikolay Nikolayevich Voronov (Limbach, 2015).

the rank of Field Marshall and reminding Paulus that now German Field Marshall has ever

Parse s Theory Of Human Becoming
Parse s theory of human becoming is one of the influential theory in nursing. It basically helps to
guides nurses as they care for the sick to concentrate on the quality of life their patients lived as they
go through that difficult time. Parse s theory of human becoming consisted of three structures,
which are, meaning, rhythmicity, and transcendence. Parse s theory of human becoming described
meaning as the experiences and reality that one lived (Nursing theory, 2011). On the other hand,
Parse s theory of human becoming described rhythmicity as Human Becoming is co creating
rhythmical patterns of relating in mutual process with the universe (Nursing theory, 2011). While
Parse s theory of human becoming described transcendence as going beyond certain limits that one
possesses. This paper will discuss Parse s theory of Human Becoming as well as another theory
contribution to the advancement of knowledge in support or multidisciplinary science or teams.
Case Study
The nurse could actualize Parse s theory of human becoming by helping to develop a plan of care

These discoveries helped shape the views of 18th century American society. Parallels about
religion can also be made by comparing Rappaccini s poisonous garden and the Garden of Eden.
The story contains many biblical allegories which hinted to the viewpoint of that time. The most
significant Parallel that can be made between the story and 18th century American Society is the
use of science to explain the rank of creatures in nature. The Mismeasure of Man by Stephen Jay
Gould is an important tool in critiquing the misuse of science to justify social inequalities such
as racism and sexism. In assessing the impact of science upon the 18th century views of race we
must first recognize the cultural milieu of a society whose leaders and intellectuals did not
doubt the propriety of racial ranking with Indians below Whites and Blacks below every one

daughter poisonous. He fails to realize that he is actually hurting his daughter Beatrice.
Rappaccini myopically ignores the needs of others, imposing his sense of things on the people
who fall under his control.(Wachtel) His selfish actions shows that he has a lack of morals. A
second parallel that can be made is Rappaccini s desire to have dominion over nature Dr.

The Dire Wolf
The Dire Wolf
The species that is known as the dire wolf is a large and powerful ancestor of modern wolves and
dogs which is now extinct. It has, however, left a rich legacy in myths and legends across many
northern countries where it once roamed as one of the most feared predators of all time. This
paper traces the way that the dire wolf has been represented in myths and legends of the past,
and also in the stories, films and computer video games of the modern world. The exact species
which gave rise to all the legends is the Canis dirus and it lived in the Pleistocene Epoch (2.6
million to 11.700 years ago) in both North and South America (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012, p.

This game shows the dire wolf as both a fearful enemy and a loyal fighter in battle, and this
reflects an appreciation of its qualities to contribute towards good or evil outcomes. In the music
genre, the band Grateful Dead immortalized the dire wolf as six hundred pounds of sin which was
grinning outside the window at a hard drinking, hard gambling man. The chorus of the song don t
murder me implies that the dire wolf has come to take the man s life. The dire wolf symbolizes all
the wrong that a person has done in the past, and the likelihood that cruel retribution will come one
day. These examples outlined above have shown that the dire wolf has maintained its fascination for
human beings long after its extinction. Its combination of force, cruelty and cunning, along with
enormous size, and tendency to roam in packs serve as an example of power even in very harsh
conditions. It has connotations of majesty, and also cruelty, especially when dealing out justice and
revenge. Even in the twenty first century it has the power to cast fear into our modern imagination.

Nanosolar s value proposition is its lower cost per watt to purchase and install (see Case page 5).
Because thin film PVs require 43% more roof space per watt generated, it is more valuable to
larger commercial and utility customers than residential customers. Nanosolar s focus should
remain on industrial scale projects that benefit most from its lower installation costs. In order to
approach residential market, significant investment is required to establish installer relationships
(eg. In the US). Nanosolar should also focus on production efficiency (see delay of the 2007
Beck s project (Case page 6.) and hire, train sales staff (has only 1 person in the US and 1 person
in Switzerland). Worldwide Solar Market and Incentives By having its final assembly in Germany,
Nanosolar is geographically positioned to meet the needs of developing countries such as India and
China while distributing its panels throughout Europe. Shipping completed modules to the US
would require additional cost and put it at a disadvantage compared to First Solar which has a
manufacturing plant in Ohio (Exhibit 9). Incentives (governmental regulations require utilities to
purchase renewable electricity at higher rates), can only help the business to become established in
the market, so are important in the short and mid term only. Because European incentives diminish

For Wasserstrom, the lawyer client relationship is morally objectionable because it is a relationship
which the lawyer dominates allowing inevitably for a situation where the lawyer treats the client in
both an impersonal and a paternalistic fashion. He sees the lawyer as a professional, one that is
different from other professionals. He sees this profession to be more vulnerable to moral criticism
than any other.
In the Watergate affair, it was noted that most of the persons involved in the cover up were
lawyers. Wasserstrom proposes that it is not an accident, the fact that most of the characters
involved belonged to the legal profession; the fact is, lawyers see society through the eyes of one
who understands the labyrinth of legalities which made it rather easy for them to manipulate the
affair and do what they have done. For him, this was a good example of noting the intricacies of the
lawyering profession, particularly professionalism.
Wasserstrom holds that the core of the problem is professionalism and its role differentiated
behavior. Role differentiation refers to situations in which one s moral response will vary
depending upon whether one is acting in a personal capacity or in a professional, representative
one. In one of his examples, he illustrates that the way a parent would distribute assets among
children who are strangers would be morally different if it was being distributed among children
whom they have reared and

Beasts can be broken down in a wide variety of views. Although the animal aspect of beast will
be the sub category that will be referenced. animals are covered in many movies as beasts,
fluctuating from animals as small and common as bats. To as big and an unusual as werewolves.
An all time great movie with a extreme beast, is Jaws. Jaws is a movie about a killer white shark
that terrorizes a beach and the men that try to kill it. Here is a breakdown of an instance when
you come across a shark said by the boat captain Quint. Sometimes that shark he looks right into
ya. Right into your eyes. And, you know, the thing about a shark... he s got lifeless eyes. Black
eyes. Like a doll s eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn t seem to be living... until he bites ya, and
those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high pitched screaming .
That is kind of a frightening thought. Everyone is a little leery when they see a fin rising out of
the water. The last example of the animal villain is a bit on the unusual side, it was actually
referanced in the example of an unusual animal villain a little prior. The movie is the Wolfman,
hinting at the villain in the title, the villain is a man that turns into a wolf. I believe one of the
most terrifying scenes is where he is sitting in the asylum, tied to the chair. When a group of
men of some authority are trying to exam the villain under the full moon. You can see where
Lawrence Talbert is trying to warn them and they will not listen, then he screams I will kill all of
you! when he is transforming into the petrifying animal. These are both considered by many to be
truly fearsome animals, and rightly so. While it is a little hard to relate animal villains to common
society, you can see many shark attacks on the news and web. As for as werewolves or wolfmen

Blood On The Leaves Interpretation
Kanye West has proven himself over time that he is much more than just a producer. With each
new album he releases, he constantly pushes the boundaries of music influencing artist across all
genres. Kanye has an ever evolving sound that changes almost year to year. Kanye West s Yeezus
album is an album that takes a much darker and more minimalist turn in his discography. This
approach to music makes Yeezus a much harder album to listen through because it is not filled
with nice, polished sounds. Having the album made this way makes us look over what the
message of a song and the album are. Among many rough songs one the most popular on the
album was Blood on the Leaves. Blood on the Leaves samples from another song called Strange
Fruitsung by Nina Simonewhich is a very political song talking about gruesome lynchings that
happened before and at the turn of the century. With help from the sample, West uses the pain of
lynching and drug abuse to compare with the break ups he goes through.
The instrumental of the song starts off very slow at the beginning we can hear a piano in the
background that slowly begins to play. Over this soft piano sound we hear Nina Simone break
through. She sets us up with an interesting imagery of strange fruit hanging. But she doesn t get to
the part that they are bodies just yet. The listener is confused by exactly what she means by the
meaning of strange fruit since there is no context of what she is referencing inside of the song.

The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
The Great 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
At 5:12 a.m. on April 18, 1906, the people of San Francisco were abruptly awaken to one of the
world s most expensive and impacting earthquakes of the 20th century. The magnitude of the
earthquake is debatable, ranging from 7.7 to as high as 8.2. However, the most accepted Richter
measurement is 7.9. This is debated because Charles Richtor developed his scale in 1935, after
the killer quake. The main shock epicenter occurred offshore 3.2 km from the city, near Mussel
Rock. It ruptured along the San Andreas Fault northward and southward for 476 km (296 miles).
The quake was felt from Oregon to Los Angeles, inland as far as Nevada. Though the earthquake
was impacting in itself, it lasted less than a minute and the most damage was done by the resulting
fire that lasted 4 days. The earthquake bears inexhaustible remembrance as one of the worst natural
disasters in the history of the United States and has had lasting social, fiscal, and political impact.
The death toll is uncertain, but modern calculations approximate about 3,000 deaths at a
minimum. The death toll alone is a very debated topic, and has had a large impact by itself.
Initially it was said that only 478 people had died. It is speculated that the official tally of 478 was
employed by the city coroner, who added 100 to the 378 bodies that showed up at the morgue.
Some uncertainty in the toll exists because government officials felt

Shirley Jackson s The Lottery
The Lottery By Shirley Jackson: A Delightful Village Conducting Civic Activities The Lottery, is a
short story written by Shirley Jackson that uses the most skillful and destructive aspects to
consistently tumble readers expectations about what is going to happen next or even at all. On an
ordinary day, members of a rural village participate in a yearly drawing in which everyone s name
is entered and due to its belief in an ancient superstition in which human sacrifice ensures good
crops, the community stones the winner of the lottery. The lottery, taking place in a small village
that may seem soothing, and a good place to raise a family is not always what it seems to be. The
title along with the first few paragraphs confirm a false sense of hope to the audience. Throughout
the short story, the author thoroughly present contrast, even from the names of Mr. Summers and
Mr. Graves. Shirley Jacksonchooses occurrences that provide contrast of reader expectations versus
the harsh reality and analyzes them carefully.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without hesitation, the title itself brings to mind the actual definition of a lottery: an instance
based on chance. That definition mentions nothing about a chance being good or bad but without
any second thoughts, this drives the audience to think about money, prize, or anything resulting in
victory. In reality, winning a lottery is a reason for celebration. The readers are expecting some
sort of positive victory from the author, but instead, what comes apparent by the end of Jackson s
story is that this lottery certainly isn t what you want to win. No one wants to get hit by stones for
being chosen for this deadly lottery. By titling her story The Lottery, Jackson keeps the grim
meaning of the story under wraps until the last possible second, allowing her message to deliver

Sacrifice In Twilight
In accordance with a renowned statement that is reference by Stephenie Meyers from the novel
Twilight, happens to entitle an astonishing significance to the novel itself. Furthermore, the
statement on page 1, from Meyers in Twilight (said by Bella Swan), states as follows, Surely it
was a good way to die, in the place of someone else, someone I loved. Noble, even. That ought to
count for something. In other words, this statement would be a great example of the true meaning
of sacrifice. Sacrifice that is being willing to lose something or someone for the sake of others
benefits. Sacrifice tides closely around the statement mention by Bella Swan in the novel referred

of explanation to Edward, I love you. I am so sorry. He has my mom, and I have to try. I know it
may not work. I am so very, very sorry. In other words, this establishes how Bella puts herself on
the line, risking herself in order, to try to save her mother for love. James (the hunter/tracker) in

The Most Important American Fiction Writer
Raymond Carver has been called the most important American fiction writer in the second half
of the twentieth century and the most influential American short story writer since Ernest
Hemingway (Kleepe vii). He was very successful despite his many difficult life experiences.
Carver grew up during a very difficult time in America. However, early on, Carver and his wife
believed their hard work would eventually pay off despite the challenges in the world around
them. They thought it would fix almost everything. However, throughout his life of dead end jobs
and child rearing, Carver realized that things weren t going to change and eventually wound up
divorced. In many ways, Carver s life was the model for all of his main characters.... Show more

The life of the blue collar worker became increasingly difficult. It has been said, Of the writers
who depicted the history of this blue collar despair, none did so fully and accurately as
Raymond Carver (Meyer 1). While growing up, his family was very poor. Raymond Carver was
married with two children before the age of twenty. Therefore, he worked many low paying jobs
such as pumping gas, sweeping hospital corridors, and managing an apartment complex in order
to support his family. Carver mainly used lower middle class characters in his stories because
that is the type of person he was most familiar with. When asked about having sympathy towards
his characters, Carver said, In all the books so far, I could never have been condescending to
those characters and felt myself any sort of writer at all. I have to care for the people in the
stories. These are my people. I can t offend them, and I wouldn t (Alton 9). Earl Ober, the main
character in They re Not Your Husband, is an unemployed salesman who uses his business
strategies to convince his wife to go on a diet. The narrator and main character of Raymnd Carver
s story, Fat, is a waitress who serves people both at work and at home. His main characters also

The recent case of Katie Thorpe who is 15, whose mother Alison Thorpe trusts that she should be
granted a hysterectomy, as she has severe cerebral palsy and the mental capacity of an eighteen
month old child. This has stirred the discussion over who should decide the sterilisation of mentally
incompetent adults should be. Katie s mother claims that a hysterectomy is in the best interests of
Katie because she merely would not manage to handle the aching, distress and embarrassment
encompassed in menstruation. There are many cases in relation to this issue, however there is no

She was starting to live alone and had a partner; with whom it was dreaded she was expected to
instigate a sexual relationship. Consequently, Z s mother contended that it was in her best
interests to have a hysterectomy. The solicitor disputed that in place of a hysterectomy it would
be better to go for a contraceptive method. The Court believed that it was in the patient s best
interests to implement a sterilisation as menstruation caused her nothing but agony, distress and
humiliation, together with the likelihood of pregnancy and the subsequent difficulties of
managing with a child or giving it up. The Court consequently evaluates all the evidence in all
the cases individually before determining what is the suitable action to take in respect of each
patient. Katie Thorpe s case differs from these examples as her mother desires to perform
preventive sterilisation, before she goes through menstruation at all. Preceding cases have all been
grounded on a situation where the patient can be shown to be unable to cope with menstruation.
In my opinion, the statement made by Heilbron J [in Re D] is somewhat correct in different
circumstances. I believe that if the girl or woman was incompetent then she would not be able to
make her own decision therefore the doctors or her parents would have to make it for her. If the
patient was competent, I would agree that it would be a violation of her rights to sterilise her for
non therapeutic reasons. WORD

Effects Of The Great Northern War
Great Northern War: The Clash between Two Titans
European history has been filled with war, but none has caused quite the damage like the Northern
Wars. The Northern Wars were a series of campaigns during the 16th century throughout the 18th
century that would leave devastation in the northern regions of Europe. Throughout the series of
wars that contributed to the mass destruction of property and wealth, none could be comparable to
the destruction that the Great Northern war caused. During the beginning of the 18th century, 1700
1721, the Great Northern War engulfed Europe into a time of war and destruction. The result would

prevention of advancement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The short terms affect of the Great Northern War on the nations that were involved were mostly
territorial changes as well as the shift of power. After the war, Sweden lost much of its territory and
ended its era as one of the most powerful nations in Europe. Russia, the Commonwealth and
Denmark would all gain new territories that they desired both in the Baltic region and Estonia. After
Sweden was defeated, Russia rose as one of Europe s most power nation. Although the short term
impacts were important, there were also long term impacts that would forever change and affect
the course these nations would follow. The destruction caused during the duration of the war
forced Sweden to go into a state of recovery which would take decades to centuries to recover.
This would and prevent Sweden from becoming a major superpower in Europe as well as slow
down its advancement and development to a point that would put it at a disadvantage to other
nations. The nations that gained from this war would enter a golden age of rapid development and
growth. Russia, under the rule of Peter the Great, would enter a golden age that allowed cultural
expansion, prosperity through trade and rapid technological advancement. The legacy that the Great
Northern War left behind would be the influence of the Russian Empire on Europe. The European
nations would be exposed to Russia which made Peter s dream of

Descriptive Essay On A House In Childhood
Driving to Long Prairie, on the right side of the road, up a hill with a long, paved driveway will
be a house to the left. This house is two stories with a basement. The first time I saw it, the house
had a worn out, light tan vinyl siding with faded, dark red shutters from years of Minnesota
weather. At the end of the driveway was a garage that resembled the houses color. To the right of
the driveway was a large stone wall that was overrun with wild grape vines. In the middle of the
wall was a stairway that leads to an old, rundown playhouse. Also, there was a large, gray brick
shed further away. Beyond the house are the woods, littered with pine needles from the rows of
trees my grandpa planted when he moved there. The whole area is surrounded by the
overpowering smell of pine, and the silence the woods carries; it brings a calming, peaceful
sensation to me. As the years have gone on, the house and I have aged, grown, and changed
together. Walking up the cracked cement steps, I enter the house through a wood lacquer door.
The smell that first hits my nose is the cigarette smoke from Grandpa. Once inside, to my right,
is the dining room that is typically filled with food and laughter. During the holidays we gather
there and fill our bellies with the food that we have all brought, and stuff ourselves with the
sweets that grandma has baked. To the left as I enter the door is the kitchen which is always
warm from the oven being used constantly with cooks bustling about like bees. If a turkey or
ham was not in the oven, there are cookies or brownies or my personal favorite, rhubarb pie. I
would salivate anticipating the sweet, tart taste to hit my lips, and I would devour it with greed.
Straight ahead of the entrance is the basement door. The basement steps are simply the wood
floor beams that were never completed. The basement was their storage space and where their
appliances were such as their water heater, which gave off a soft hum. The basement had the faint
smell of vinegar because my grandparents liked to pickle, so they had shelves in the basement
cluttered with jars of various things that they pickled. Going back up the stairs and through the
kitchen is the carpeted living room. The far side of the room

Essay On Maus Propaganda
Propaganda made a great impact on World War II society. Propaganda was used intently during
World War II and was particularly important because it allowed the government to control citizen
s thoughts and beliefs about the war. Propaganda is defined as information or ideas that promote
a point of view, group, belief, etc. Usually, it is either misleading or biased in order to portray a
desired viewpoint for people to believe. In the war, the government utilized propaganda to make
citizens believe that the war was worth fighting for, even though that wasn t the case. They did so
by creating propaganda that advocated for unification, domination of the enemy, and war
employment opportunities, to name a few. Maus by Art Spiegelman is a graphic novel... Show more

People who are convinced to go get a flu shot, or do any number of other things, then may tell
others about what they heard, which will cause more people to do so as well. This is the next
effect of propaganda the spread of it. A last effect of propaganda is, in fact, not a good one.
Propaganda can polarize audiences, which means causing people to move actively against the
propaganda s intended effects, says Renault, (par. 5). Overall, there are several types of
propaganda that have great effects on many people, which can be seen thoroughly in Maus.
Maus, which is set in World War II time period, portrays propaganda as it was seen during the
Holocaust. In Maus, Nazi propaganda targets the Jewish population to make audiences, which
are German citizens, believe false statements about the Jews. They do so in order to have
governmental control over the inferior race. Propaganda is perhaps a large basis of the book
being that a popular Nazi symbol appears countless times in the book, including on the cover. The
swastika, the prominent symbol of the Nazi party, derived in 1920 when Adolf Hitler was put in
charge of the propaganda of the National Socialist Party, according to the Holocaust Teacher

The Great Depression Of 1929 Vs. The Great Recession Of 2008
The Great Depression of 1929 Vs. The Great Recession of 2008
In America there have been great economic struggles and triumphs. The many great leaders of
this country have foraged, failed, and overcome some very difficult times. Comparing the Great
Depression of 1929 and the Great Recession of 2008 has revealed similarities that by learning
from our mistakes in 1929 could have prevented the latest recession. I will discuss the causes of the
Great Depression and the Great Recession, and what policies were implemented to reverse the
economic downfalls. The Great Depression of 1929 is said to have many causes. In an article on

Total unemployment rose from just over three percent in 1929 to just over twenty five percent
in 1933, and did not increase back up to just over seventeen percent in 1939. By 1933 wages had
fallen in every industry, with construction being affected the worst, where wages had dropped by
half. Wages in 1933 were twenty five percent lower than in 1929. These decreases in wages
caused decreases in purchasing across the board. Durable and nondurable sales alike decreased.
Nondurable goods fell by forty one percent, where durable goods suffered the most and declined
by sixty two percent. In the midst of the depression farmers also had a difficult time where
usually they would have been able to survive. Unfortunately, the Great Plains were hit hard with
both a drought and dust storms. The dust storms destroyed everything in their paths, leaving
farmers without their crops. Small farmers were hit the hardest. Even before the dust storms hit,
the invention of the tractor drastically cut the need for manpower on farms. The small farms
were usually already in debt, borrowing money for seed and paying it back when their crops
came in. When the dust storms damaged the crops, not only could the small farmer not feed
himself or his family, he could not pay back his debt. Banks would foreclose on the farms and the
farmer and his family would be both homeless and unemployed. Millions of people were out of
work across the United States. Many people hit the road

Making A New Form Of A Letter Essay
I was originally going to hand write this letter, but after some practiced I have come to the
conclusion that twenty two years of horrible handwriting cannot be undone in a couple weeks. I
would rather send this to you as quick as possible, rather than wait a few months. I want to start
a new form of dialogue to add onto out ever growing list. I want a relaxed tone to this letter to
foster an easy reply and to take away from the prestige and pompousness of snail mail. So while I
was trying to think of what to write in a letter to you, I thought of what I could send in a letter
that would be advantageous over sending a message. Anything that is going on in my life this
second could be summarized, opinions on current events would be outdated by the time this
will reach you, and sending a letter merely containing how much I love you would be fruitless
because I ve already made it clear I love you with all my heart. Any political belief that needed an
essay format could be sent over email as we ve done before. What a letter can provide is a
platform for me to talk for paragraphs without need for breaks. It also has a slight advantage over
anything sent electronically in that it has been touched by me, and because of all the traveling it
has to do makes it so much more special when it finally touches your hands. I think, for now, the
only thing I can talk about that fulfils the criteria of a good informal letter is my life. It s twenty
one years in the making, and I think you ll

The Future of Animation Seems Bright in Planet Unknown
Adam New
It takes a lot of talent to be an animator. So much skill is involved in the process, and it can take
years for people to get it right. Every piece of animation requires painstaking amounts of detail to
make a quality product, especially with computer generated technology. However, there has been a
recent influx of extremely gifted animators who seem to perfect the craft with relative ease. What
is amazing is that many of these up and coming talents are still in school. If you look online, there
are countless videos of student animated shorts that look so impressive that they give Pixar and
DreamWorks a run for their money. In fact, many the young minds behind these shorts are hired by
well known animation studios to make blockbuster features. ... Show more content on

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the very top of Aztec society was the Tlacatecuhtli or chief men that dominated all religious ceremonies and was the military leader of the Aztecs. Below him were religious offices that served as military generals. The religion of the Aztecs was made up of mainly three gods: Huitzilopochtli, Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl. Below these three main gods were four creating gods. Below these four gods were many other gods, however the most important were Tlaloc, the rain god, Chalchihuitlicue, the god of growth and Xipe, the god of spring. The main thing that captures the attention of Aztec religion is their human sacrifice made to the different gods. Although human sacrifice was practiced around Mesoamerica, the Aztecs practiced human sacrifice in a large scale never seen before to date. The idea of human sacrifice was that Gods gave things to humans like food, rain, wealth, and other goods only if they were given human beings in return. The Aztecs believed that the goods liked best the living hearths of sacrificed captives. Samuel Clemens or Schertz School back in the 1890 s consisted of four classrooms downstairs, one upstairs, and a large auditorium. The heating was an old woodstove and the AC was an open window! Let me know if you think I satisfied this prompt *** when you find a website called grammarphobia Describe a personal service experience in your high school or community, what you gained from this experience and how it reflects the unique values of the Siena Albany Medical College Program (650 word max). High school, for most students, is a time of change and development. You not only discover more about yourself, such as your ambitions, dreams and desires, but you also realize a greater purpose for your life. Being raised in a Catholic family, there was a great importance put on serving the less fortunate and loving our neighbors. I repeatedly hear the Sermon on the Mount which encourages the followers of Christ to follow His footsteps and to be salt and light in the world. Taking the values of my faith, I decided take my service to a greater height: starting fundraisers. In tenth grade, my English teacher posed the class with a question: what are you going to do for your community? She emphasized the importance of making a positive impact, even if it meant simply smiling as you hold the door open for someone. She prompted us to go out of our comfort zone and do something for our community. While I had been volunteering at Church and at school, I had never really taken a step out of my comfort zone. Instead of just helping out in, say, a soup kitchen, I decided that it was time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Regarding other influences and impacts of photo manipulation on body images and beauty, Day (2014) states that the three most common mental disorders caused by photo manipulation are eating disorder, depression and low self esteem. Furthermore, she lists out several statistics and surveys that prove its negativity on human beings: 80% of women feel worse about themselves after seeing a beauty ad and people as young as thirteen begin to feel unsatisfied about their body and how they look. Photo manipulation also creates a hypersexualized issue: A study done in 2011 by the journal Sexuality and Culture shows that 2% of men and 61% of women are hypersexualized (Nelson, 2012, p.180). However, towards the northern mountains of Thailand, people aren t as lucky to live in the luxuries their brothers and sisters do in the south of Thailand. The mountainous regions are home to harsh living conditions, where only a tenth of the land if fit for agriculture. The result is, those who control good land are well off; those who live in the higher elevations are not. So, without being able to farm, or hunt, many families in the north have to look towards other sources of income. These other sources often result in the selling of a child, presumably a girl child. The choice to sell a daughter is a part of Thai culture; although it was not preferred, it was accepted as a valid means of survival. Many girls would be sold to the South Thailand as a belief that they would be working in service as housemaids or servers. Instead, many girls are being bought as sex workers. Families would be compensated and would be able to pay for foods, and survival for sometimes close to a year. So in hindsight, selling off one of your children to keep your family alive seems like a logical thing to do. That saying, kill one, save a million, applies here. Under the law women were not equal citizens to men, so women that were abused by their husbands or family members attributed it to bad luck. Industrialization widened the work home divide. That is, work done in the home (women s work) and wage labour (men s work) was separated by sex, and the latter was considered real work. In tandem with political and legal gains, throughout the twentieth century the rate of women participating in the work forced increased. As capitalism became the major form of social organization, and women were liberated and emancipated from men and the private sphere, violence was no longer sufficient to enforce dependence on individual men. Stark explains that this was because the material and political basis for patriarchy was displaced, and the illogical privilege based solely on sex was exposed. Sexual hierarchies began to collapse, and men began using a range of behaviours to compliment their use of force. Although it was not specifically written about before the 1970s, this became known as coercive control. Each household governed by coercive control, each relationship, becomes patriarchy in miniature (p. 194). Stark concludes this section by ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hurdle rates are an internal management tool and can be set independent of WACC. We feel that the diversification of the company does help keep capital costs down which benefit the company. However, the hurdle rate is the driving factor of resource allocation. As more resources are shifted to the PS division, capital costs will begin to increase along side risk. In addition, external investors and analysts have more information than Helen is indicating. These analysts (36 following Teletech) and investors often look at companies by the markets they are in. The exact species which gave rise to all the legends is the Canis dirus and it lived in the Pleistocene Epoch (2.6 million to 11.700 years ago) in both North and South America (Encyclopaedia Britannica, 2012, p. 1). This game shows the dire wolf as both a fearful enemy and a loyal fighter in battle, and this reflects an appreciation of its qualities to contribute towards good or evil outcomes. In the music genre, the band Grateful Dead immortalized the dire wolf as six hundred pounds of sin which was grinning outside the window at a hard drinking, hard gambling man. The chorus of the song don t murder me implies that the dire wolf has come to take the man s life. The dire wolf symbolizes all the wrong that a person has done in the past, and the likelihood that cruel retribution will come one day. These examples outlined above have shown that the dire wolf has maintained its fascination for human beings long after its extinction. Its combination of force, cruelty and cunning, along with enormous size, and tendency to roam in packs serve as an example of power even in very harsh conditions. It has connotations of majesty, and also cruelty, especially when dealing out justice and revenge. Even in the twenty first century it has the power to cast fear into our modern imagination. Nanosolar s value proposition is its lower cost per watt to purchase and install (see Case page 5). Because thin film PVs require 43% more roof space per watt generated, it is more valuable to larger commercial and utility customers than residential customers. Nanosolar s focus should remain on industrial scale projects that benefit most from its lower installation costs. In order to approach residential market, significant investment is required to establish installer relationships (eg. In the US). Nanosolar should also focus on production efficiency (see delay of the 2007 Beck s project (Case page 6.) and hire, train sales staff (has only 1 person in the US and 1 person in Switzerland). Shipping completed modules to the US would require additional cost and put it at a disadvantage compared to First Solar which has a manufacturing plant in Ohio (Exhibit 9). For Wasserstrom, the lawyer client relationship is morally objectionable because it is a relationship which the lawyer dominates allowing inevitably for a situation where the lawyer treats the client in both an impersonal and a paternalistic fashion. He sees the lawyer as a professional, one that is different from other professionals. He sees this profession to be more vulnerable to moral criticism than any other. In the Watergate affair, it was noted that most of the persons involved in the cover up were lawyers. Wasserstrom proposes that it is not an accident, the fact that most of the characters involved belonged to the legal profession; the fact is, lawyers see society through the eyes of one who understands the labyrinth of legalities which made it rather easy for them to manipulate the affair and do what they have done. For him, this was a good example of noting the intricacies of the lawyering profession, particularly professionalism. Wasserstrom holds that the core of the problem is professionalism and its role differentiated behavior. Role differentiation refers to situations in which one s moral response will vary depending upon whether one is acting in a personal capacity or in a professional, representative one. Here is a breakdown of an instance when you come across a shark said by the boat captain Quint. Sometimes that shark he looks right into ya. Right into your eyes. That is kind of a frightening thought. Everyone is a little leery when they see a fin rising out of the water. The last example of the animal villain is a bit on the unusual side, it was actually referanced in the example of an unusual animal villain a little prior. The movie is the Wolfman, hinting at the villain in the title, the villain is a man that turns into a wolf. I believe one of the most terrifying scenes is where he is sitting in the asylum, tied to the chair. When a group of men of some authority are trying to exam the villain under the full moon. You can see where Lawrence Talbert is trying to warn them and they will not listen, then he screams I will kill all of you! when he is transforming into the petrifying animal. Total unemployment rose from just over three percent in 1929 to just over twenty five percent in 1933, and did not increase back up to just over seventeen percent in 1939. By 1933 wages had fallen in every industry, with construction being affected the worst, where wages had dropped by half. Wages in 1933 were twenty five percent lower than in 1929. These decreases in wages caused decreases in purchasing across the board. Durable and nondurable sales alike decreased. Nondurable goods fell by forty one percent, where durable goods suffered the most and declined by sixty two percent. In the midst of the depression farmers also had a difficult time where usually they would have been able to survive. Unfortunately, the Great Plains were hit hard with both a drought and dust storms. The dust storms destroyed everything in their paths, leaving farmers without their crops. Small farmers were hit the hardest. Even before the dust storms hit, the invention of the tractor drastically cut the need for manpower on farms. The small farms were usually already in debt, borrowing money for seed and paying it back when their crops came in. When the dust storms damaged the crops, not only could the small farmer not feed himself or his family, he could not pay back his debt. Banks would foreclose on the farms and the farmer and his family would be both homeless and unemployed. Millions of people were out of work across the United States. Many people hit the road ... • 50. Making A New Form Of A Letter Essay I was originally going to hand write this letter, but after some practiced I have come to the conclusion that twenty two years of horrible handwriting cannot be undone in a couple weeks. I would rather send this to you as quick as possible, rather than wait a few months. I want to start a new form of dialogue to add onto out ever growing list. I want a relaxed tone to this letter to foster an easy reply and to take away from the prestige and pompousness of snail mail. So while I was trying to think of what to write in a letter to you, I thought of what I could send in a letter that would be advantageous over sending a message. Anything that is going on in my life this second could be summarized, opinions on current events would be outdated by the time this will reach you, and sending a letter merely containing how much I love you would be fruitless because I ve already made it clear I love you with all my heart. Any political belief that needed an essay format could be sent over email as we ve done before. What a letter can provide is a platform for me to talk for paragraphs without need for breaks. It also has a slight advantage over anything sent electronically in that it has been touched by me, and because of all the traveling it has to do makes it so much more special when it finally touches your hands. I think, for now, the only thing I can talk about that fulfils the criteria of a good informal letter is my life. It s twenty one years in the making, and I think you ll ... So much skill is involved in the process, and it can take years for people to get it right. Every piece of animation requires painstaking amounts of detail to make a quality product, especially with computer generated technology. However, there has been a recent influx of extremely gifted animators who seem to perfect the craft with relative ease. What is amazing is that many of these up and coming talents are still in school. If you look online, there are countless videos of student animated shorts that look so impressive that they give Pixar and DreamWorks a run for their money. In fact, many the young minds behind these shorts are hired by well known animation studios to make blockbuster features. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They are tasked with finding a habitable environment in outer space, when the planet they are inspecting is bombarded by meteorites. Wang claims that he found the inspiration for this short film from Christopher Nolan s 2014 science fiction epic, Interstellar, which also featured a pair of intelligent robots. He was also heavily influenced by other works of animation, particularly Wall E, the 2008 Pixar film starring two sentient machines that worked to create a habitable Earth. The imagery present in Planet Unknown are breathtaking. What Wang could create with such a small team of animators is no small feat. The designs of the robot characters are very detailed, and the renders in the background are visually magnificent. Also, Planet Unknown does an estimable job of conveying its story without a single line of dialogue. Razor and Junkman communicate with each other solely through mechanical chirps and squeaks, and yet, the narrative remains clear to the audience. Overall, Planet Unknown does what it sets out to do in spectacular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
