Theory Of Teaching And Learning
Theory of Teaching and Learning Part 1. What I Believe about Teaching and Learning It is my
opinion that conventional teaching strategies cannot meet the requirements of the classroom
environment. First, the classroom environment has been culturally diversified. Second, not all
students have similar capabilities or work at the same rate even if they are of the same age. Third,
each student has their own learning style. In addition, some students do not react well to the
conventional strategies of teaching and, as a result, there is a lack of learning (Heimlich Norland,
2002, p. 18). A Constructivist teaching environment affords more opportunties for both teachers
and students, and makes learning more efficient and effective. The Montessori teaching technique
is one of the best techniques because of its eight fundamental principles (Lillard, 2005, p. 29).
These principles include: The premise that cognition and movement are closely interrelated, and
that movement can improve cognition and learning in students. It also holds that the process of
learning and well being are enhanced when an individual or student has some degree of control
over their lives. Individuals learn well when they develop an interest in what they are being taught.
The technique also holds that associating learning activities with a certain reward such as monetary
rewards and promises for better grades, adversely affects the learning process and negatively
motivates the students to learn

Grande Odalisque And The Nightmare Comparison
Both Grande Odalisque and The Nightmare, were created during a time period ruled by
Neoclassism and Romanticism. Grande Odalisque is an oil painting created by Jean Auguste
Dominique Ingres in 1814. The Nightmare is an oil painting created by Henry Fuseli in 1781.
Grande Odalisque and The Nightmare have very unique themes that represent each of their artists
own unique style, despite their differences they still maintain certain similarities through the
Romantic qualities that each possess. In order to fully comprehend the meaning of works of art, it
is important to understand the artist behind them. Obtaining knowledge on an artist s life can help
the viewer comprehend possible messages that a work of art is trying to present. Jean Auguste...

He achieves this by using oil paint on canvas. Its main focus is that of a nude European woman
in the foreground, the woman stares apathetically at the viewer. Her body is lounging on a blue
couch, with rich linens crumpled beneath her. There are elaborately embroidered curtains
hanging behind her. The only thing adorning her body is a turban in her hair and a peacock
feathered fan clutched in her hand. The feathers could be symbolizing the woman s integrity and
high social standing, which is indicative to peacocks. The cool blue tones used throughout the
piece help emphasize the woman s calm demeanor. Her body is long and languid, which Ingres
was able to achieve with illusionism. He often distorted the human form to achieve idealistic
images, such as the lengthening of the woman s torso ( Jean 122). The contrast between her skin
and the environment helps her body stand out in comparison. The lines that define her body curve
softly, giving her a sensual and smooth appearance in contrast to the angular lines used in the
environment. Ingres portrays the young woman as a concubine in a harem looking over her
shoulder at her master. Although he had attempted Neoclassicism this picture leans to a more
Romantic approach, which is the reason it was not well received when it was displayed in a Salon
in Paris ( Jean

The Ethical Principles Of Health Care Professionals
Many times health professional encounter in daily practice situations that raise moral issues. Four
essential values constitute the most significant parts of the ethical code for healthcare
professionals; justice, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and autonomy. (DeGrazia, Mappes, Brand
Ballard, 2010, p. 88). These two talks both emphasize the importance of the role of a health care
professional, especially during the healing process for any patient. According to Elizabeth Loftus,
ethically scientists/researchers can t morally place false memories in their own patients, even if
planting the false memories improves their quality of life.
A principle can be defined as the universal law, or a basic truth. Like rule, principles are action
guides and assists an individual in making a moral decision. In both videos there were many ethical
principles that were evident. Health care professionals during the healing process need to practice
these ethical principles to improve the patient s overall well being beneficence, nonmaleficience,
and autonomy.
Elizabeth Loftus is a psychologist, in which she studies false memories. A false memory is when a
person either recalls situations that didn t occur or recollects the situation differently from what
actually happened. Ethical limitations do arise for the study participants. Are they able to make an
informed consent? The experimental researcher cannot lie nor withhold information from the
subject participants, which can completely weaken

The 1815 Eruption of Mount Tambora
Mount Tambora, located on the Island of Sumbawa, Indonesia is classified as a Stratovolcano.
Also known as a composite volcano, Tambora is a tall conical volcano (cone like structure)
where layers of the walls are built by hardened lava and volcanic ash. The term composite is used
to describe the volcano due to the composite layered structure built from sequential outpourings of
eruptive materials1. Among the most common types of volcanoes, Tambora also shares its
destructive prowess with best known volcanoes such as Krakota (1883) and Vesuvius (79 A.D).
The Island of Sumbawa is located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (a group of
islands in the southern Maritime Southeast Asia) and is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara3.

Understanding the eruptive history of Tambora can provide crucial information needed to detect
and prepare for future events. Furthermore, it is important to test current understanding of plate
tectonics to ensure scientists are adequately prepared to predict where future volcanoes may occur,
using past volcanoes like Tambora as a model. 2.0 Plate Tectonics of Indonesia Indonesia is situated
between two tectonically active plates: Australian and Eurasian plate. It is important to understand
the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding
eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum
Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. Figure 3 provides a pictorial view
of both plates and their relation to the Circum Pacific belt. The Circum Pacific belt is the world s
greatest earthquake belt, with a series of fault lines stretching 25,00 miles7. An unfortunate
circumstance for the inhabitants of Indonesia who are situated between these two belts, the
eruptions of earthquakes and volcanoes are far too common. Essentially, volcanoes erupt either due
to divergent tectonic plates pulling apart causing an eruption, or convergent tectonic plates coming
together (forming great pressure) causing an eruption8. In the case of Indonesia and the Circum
Pacific belt, the latter is more common. Because Indonesia and

Peter Paul Rubens The Descent From The Cross
Peter Paul Rubens was one of the most well known and successful European artist from the 17th
century. He came to be what he is by achieving difficulties along the road. Rubens s art portrayed
religion, history, and mythology. He was known for works such as The Descent from the Cross and
Wolf and Fox Hunt . But , one specific paintingthat caught my eye was Christ on a Cross . Christ

Christ on a cross Rubens used oil on wood, and other necessities to paint this piece. The height is

The dull colors were smudged a little together on certain portions of the painting. The piece shows

fabric tied around their waists to cover their genitals. But one other has a different color of
loincloth, unlike the other two. I do not why one of them has a different color of loincloth. The
soldiers also have a metal vest with designs , you can see them if you look closely. Towards the
middle of the painting, Jesus body is the brightest out of all three. On the right bottom part of the
painting, are the Virgin Mary and St. John, they are looking to their left at what is unfolding before
their eyes.
The roman soldiers in the painting can be seen riding brown and white horses. Some soldiers in

civilians during the begging of the fight towards independence, the FLN did not receive much

indifference attitude towards the FLNs cause. In 1956, the FLNs leaders realized they had to

Stereotypes In Walter Dean Myers The Glory Field
A hero is an ordinary person who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of
overwhelming obstacles. This quote by Christopher Reeve illustrates overcoming obstacles
similar to those described in The Glory Field by Walter Dean Myers. This historical fiction story
is about the Lewises, that all started with Muhammad, who was brought to North America in
1753, as a slave. Numerous traits were passed down from Muhammad to his descendants. Each
Lewis is characterized by obstacles they experienced and overcoming: Elijah provides for his
family, Luvenia overcomes stereotypes, and Sheppard fights against his drug addiction. In the 1900

Acute viral hepatitis is the most common form of infectious hepatitis. There are five distinct viruses
types A, B, C, D, and E. Diagnostic markers of viral hepatitis include elevation of aspartate
aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, gammaglutamyl transferase, white blood cell count,
and prothrombin time.
Hepatitis C is an infectious disease that primarily affects the liver, caused by the Hepatitis C virus
(HCV).
The cause of HCV, is a spherical, enveloped, single stranded RNA virus belonging to the
Flaviviridae family and Flavivirus genus. The natural targets of HCV are hepatocytes and,
possibly, B lymphocytes. Lauer and Walker reported that HCV is closely related to hepatitis G.

Lichen Planus
Lichen Planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory cutaneous disease that frequently involves oral
mucosa. Common symptoms are oral pain or a burning sensation, especially with acidic or spicy
foods. Symptoms are often irrespective of the clinical presentation. There is evidence of an
association between HCV and Oral Lichen Planus (OLP); however, this varies by region and
further studies are needed to fully confirm the relationship.
Diagnosis of OLP should involve a referral to a trained clinician in oral medicine or maxillofacial
surgery. The principles behind treatment of OLP are symptom management, immune modulation,
monitoring and education. Treatment of OLP is usually reserved for disease that is symptomatic.
Topical corticosteroids are normally the main choice of treatment for OLP.

The skills required to conquer adversity and emerge stronger and more committed than ever are the
ones that make for extraordinary leaders . This quote summarizes Warren G. Bennis and Robert J.

this assignment.
On 7 December 2008, 82nd ABN DIV Forward Support Company, distribution platoon was

applicable training (i.e. certification) and wrong equipment more importantly, this challenge has
prepared me for the operational unknown throughout my military career. For that reason, this
formative event is deemed as my crucible experience and inspired a pendulum shift across the

Consumerism In Oh Wonder
American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, Our society is falling back increasingly on
rampant consumerism and self promoting social media as a way for people to feel that their lives
matter self centered means of numbing the questions of mattering. In a world caught up in mass
media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social
interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face to face conversation, hate is
easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still interact . According to Dolan,
Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the
problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time
depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution. In the case of the
bandOh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion.
Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from
London England. Starting off in a separate band and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander
Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. Coming
from a city with a high Soundcloud following, especially since the early 1990s, many of the most
internationally influential genres of electronic dance music have originated in London
(Allington), they immediately found success. To the surprise

funeral of civil rights (Waldron, 2006, p.7): Coretta Scott King. King was an outspoken
opponent of injustices ranging from capitol punishments to apartheid in South Africa

went through lots of hard challenges in her life and somehow always found a way to get up and
keep moving forward to continue her fight for justice. Coretta had many speakers at her funeral
(Waldron, 2006, p.7), but one that really stood out was her best friend Maya Angelou. Maya
Angelou was an esteemed poet, author, dancer, actress, and singer who was born in St. Louis,
Missouri on April 4, 1928 (Behr, 2014). In the eulogy that was published in 2008 Angelou talked
about the beliefs of King, the human beings she cared for, and memorable moments they spent
together. She gave a very effective speech, starting off by singing in a way that connected with her
audience, used pathos, and humor. One reason Angelou s speech was effective was through the
connection she made with her audience. Angelou opened and closed her speech by bursting heartily
and soulfully into what sounded like a hymnal song. (Angelou, 2008) The musical addition added a
spiritual element to not just her talk, but to the entire funeral. It was a church song that not only
connected to the religious people, but everyone else in the audience. For instance,

Audit Planning And The Audit
Audit planning is a process that entails designing a road map to be followed when conducting an
audit. It also extends to identifying the specific guidelines to be adhered to direct the audit direction
in the most professionally way. It can be established that are various guidelines that guide the audit
depending on whether it is internal or external. Notably, external auditis guided by various standards,
which require financial information to be prepared in a specific way as stipulated by various
standard setting bodies. Therefore, in audit planning each body has distinct guidelines to be
followed in accordance to the jurisdiction s accepted accounting principles. An analysis of three
audit planning standards: AICPA (American Institute of Certified Public Accountants), PCAOB
(Public Company Accounting Oversight Board) and IAASB (International Auditingand Assurance
Standards Board)reveals characteristic similarities and differences, which have an overall impact
on the performance of the audit. Audit planning is carried in accordance with the guidelines of the
specific accounting body. Therefore, in doing so, the Auditor need to identify the jurisdiction under
which a firm falls under to establish which standards to adopt. According to PCAOB, an audit
planning should be done in accordance to PCAOB standards (Auditing Standard No. 9).
Furthermore, the standard also expressly defines the how the overall audit plan should be done and

Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise
Don DeLillo s award winning novel White Noise takes the idea of the supremacy of false images
to the extreme. Through various scenarios, such as the airborne toxic event and the Dylar dilemma,
DeLillo critiques contemporary society s over dependence on false images. The characters in the
novel that exemplify this over dependence appear humorous on one hand, yet tragic on the other.
The humor comes from the novel s characters behaving like cartoon characters who continually get
hurt, but keep coming back for more. The novel s characters keep getting hurt by false images, yet
continue to believe in them, causing the reader to smack his or her head in astonishment. ... Show

Jack, as a department head, must wear a black academic robe while at the college. He likes the
idea, especially the flourish that results from him checking his watch, saying, Decorative
gestures add romance to a life (9). Jack, speaking of Hitler, says, Some people put on a uniform

matter of his name. Jack, at the advice of the chancellor, had changed his name to J.A.K.
Gladney by inventing an extra initial. The chancellor also told him to gain weight to look more
formidable. He wanted me to grow out into Hitler. If I could become more ugly, he seemed to be

Jack is not the only one projecting false images. Jack seems to be a magnet for those projecting
false images. It was curious how I kept stumbling into the company of lives in intelligence, he

April 14, 2015 marked Equal Pay Day this year, which shows how far into the new year the
average American woman would have to be employeed to earn what the average American man
did last year. Both genders see the lack of balance in the workplace. A lot of men and women
believe America needs to continue making changes to achieve eqaulity in the workplace.
Accorging to the White House, women working full time have to work nearly sixty more
additional days, in order to earn what men did at the end of last year. In 1980, the average
woman would have had to work nearly three extra months into May, just to catch up with men s
earning s from the previous year (Patten, 2015). The pay gap between men and women continues
possibly because women put their careers on hold to care for their families. Research shows that
these types of choices can have a negative affect on long term earnings. Approximately, four of
ten mothers have taken a lot of time from work, which is thirty nine percent. Approximately,
forty two percent have reduced their work hours to care for a family member or child. Also,
twenty seven percent have quit work completely to care for family responsibilities and even less
men say the same. There is approximately twenty four percent of fathers that have taken a lot of
time off from work to care for family or children (Patten, 2015).

Ender Wiggin Quotes
In the beginning of Ender s game, we are introduced to Ender Wiggin. Ender Wiggin was a shy
kid who was unaware of all of the possibilities he had. He starts to become a stronger more
mature boy and soon enough realizes all the power he posses. He has an older brother named
Peter, and an older sister named Valentine. He at first is this little, weak kid, and in five years
goes from that to a mature leader of an army. We see him progress to the top of what he becomes,
but it does not happen easily. He has to make many hard decisions that could go any which way.
Hey third, we re talkin to you, Third, hey bugger lover, we re talkin to you. (Card. 6). In the

start to bully him. At first Ender takes it, then Stilson swings at him, and we see Ender break out
of his shell. Ender not only beats him, but we find out he killed him. This is where we see Ender
realize what he is capable of. After the fight, we see Ender go back to his quiet self. Again a blow

Thank You for Our Project, Jessica
Hello again Jessica. I know I haven t exactly been keeping my promises on the due dates and I m
only fortifying the stigma that I touched on in my last email but I ve still got a few questions.
(Did you get my last email, by the way?) Anyway, would you just like me to submit what I have?
I have well over two minutes and way more than five angles. Sound has also been added and
mixed. The entire movie, however, is not finished. It should give you enough to grade or at least
be a worthy placeholder until I can really submit a product I m not totally disappointing with. I
know it may be hard to even fathom what could possibly be taking so long but I ve been mulling
over several other things regarding this project.
One of the reasons I can t seem to get anywhere and one of the areas I m constantly getting hung up
on is the nature and tone of the project itself.
I wanted to establish a sort of creepy and unsettling mood for the project and I can t achieve what
I was originally visioning in my head. Some of the animations employed simply seem to make
their scene seem frivolous, silly, and awkward. I may spend up to an hour or two just trying to
figure out how to make the seemingly insignificant feel right.
Another issue that I m having is that there are several frame rate and frame jump mishaps that have
occurred during the initial picture taking. Sometimes the character will jump from one shot to
another and, subsequently, the scene appears

The Issue Of Providing Mental Health Services For Veterans...
SOWK 641 Fall 2016
Assignment#2: Article Reviews
Mary Marrone
USC School of Social Work
October 6, 2016
Course Instructor: Dr. Finney
Key Points Both articles identify the issue of providing mental health services for veterans with
an extra emphasis on those that served in Afghanistan and Iraq (OEF/OIF veterans). It is no
surprise that returning veterans suffer from both visible/invisible (physical and mental) wounds.
Most veterans have this high expectation that they are going to receive quality care from both the
DoD and VA. Unfortunately reality steps in where veterans are slapped in the face because they
are receiving a lack of poor quality care all while jumping through Beuracractic hoops. The
challenges faced to access these services include resistance, stigma, lack of professionalism, and
geographic and/or regional disparities in the distribution of services resources and/or benefits, and
the system simply refusing to change. The articles address the prevalence of the issue of mental
health and claims the importance of policy reform at all levels of society.
Gaps in Research The research is limited in that there is enough on just the narrative of substance
abuse and enough research on mental illnesses, but research is limited when it comes to dual
diagnoses. There are inconsistencies within the research, where researchers fail to address
advocacy at the state and federal levels; therefore not addressing the snowball effect of the poor

Obese Target Audience
The two audiences we ve chosen are those who are obese/overweight and those who are just
trying to lose weight for health/fitness reasons since it is a preventive approach. Sugar plays a
big factor in weight gain making them predisposed to getting heart diseases, diabetes, cancer and
etc. Canadian Cancer Society states that being obese can significantly alter sex hormones and
insulin levels which increase the likelihood of developing breast, colon or uterine cancer
(Canadian Cancer Society, 2015). WHAT WHY? (Social media platforms) 1. An educational
video clip that can be uploaded on YouTube or posted/shared on Facebook this would increase
our audience because these platforms are widely used by people across the globe and thus an
excellent tool to raise public awareness and spread our message to everyone. 2. Instagram just like

Nt1310 Unit 3 Project Part 2 Types Of Equipment
Project Part 2: Types of Equipment There are various types of equipment that the company should
look for when considering this network. The first item to look at when considering equipment is
the Operating system and software that we would need. Next, the group took into consideration
the type of server the company needs to make this network a reality. Another thing that we looked
at is the possibility of having ThinClients over regular desktops for all workstations. Of course, it
was taken into consideration that some employees would not want ThinClients. So, we show the
type of tower we plan to place into those spaces, along with any peripheral device for both. Then,
we will look at the networkdevices that will go into each building that include switches, routers,
repeaters, hubs, and wireless access points. Finally, the group will note guidelines for choosing a
local ISP at each site. Each Item outlined helps to build a network based on the specifications given
by the company.
The Operating System
The best operating system for this company running on thin clients would be Linux. Some of the
advantages Linux are the cost. There is zero cost to download and maintain the Linux system. Not

The Beauty Of The Garment Essay
Cool in Costume
The definition of cool is dependent on unique characteristics that allows something to stand out
from the mainstream fads of modern society. Characteristics, including the novelty, the design, the
function, and the overall appeal, are what makes something cool to us, the consumers, and it is
these characteristics that are most evident in trends related to clothing and fashion. Clothing
functions as not only a social necessity, but also a versatile mean of self expression and cultural
identity. The beauty of the garment has caught the eye of many modern designers who incorporate
the traditional aspects of the Cheongsam, also known as the qipao , into contemporary designs.
Designers have created works art with the Cheongsam that have caught the attention of individuals
in Shanghai and Hong Kong who are fascinated by contemporary stylistic aspect of Chinese fashion
in the 21st century, revitalizing the Cheongsam into a garment that has both cultural significance
and artistic relevance for its wearer and beholder. Therefore, the purpose of this rhetorical analysis
is to discuss and analyze how the people in 21st century Shanghai and Hong Kong regard Chinese
garment as cool and the characteristics that make it cool . There were many traditional fashion
styles established during the dynasties eras in Chinese history, but the Cheongsam is the only
garment that is still prominently worn in modern society in Shanghai and Hong Kong. The
Cheongsam was first

Sex Education And Comprehensive Sexual Education
Let s talk about sex. Stances on comprehensive sexual education vary, whether it be from
religious beliefs or past experiences, different views are held throughout. It is in the interests of
society in general... for every secondary school pupil to be in receipt of sexual education (Cumper
16). The phrase it s better to be safe than sorry applies heavily on the topic of sex education, the
idea of a pregnant and STD ridden 15 year old tends to frighten a million times more than the
thought of proper contraception use and safe sexual encounters. Although the likeliness of a parent
wanting their teen to engage in sex remains extremely low, most would prefer the latter.

In contrast, The practice of avoiding sexual intercourse until marriage. Abstinence only sex
education programs focus on abstinence as the standard and preferred lifestyle for young people
and emphasize the benefits of refraining from intercourse ( Flynn 5). While abstinence only
education discusses contraceptives, the idea of remaining pure until marriage is pushed through
out. Even though there are numerous forms of sex ed, the former is ideal due to teenagers being
knowledgeable about either path they take, and doing so safely.
The infamous ideal of waiting until marriage, no matter if it s right or not, is claimed as the set
standard of youth: Nationally, rates of teen sexual activity have declined over the past fifteen
years, yet even so, about half of all high school youth report having sex and more than one in five

the number is only growing. There is no question...that increased abstinence meaning delayed

The experiment had four different temperature 12 МЉ, 51 МЉ, 75 МЉ, 111 МЉ. In the

lowest bounce was the frozen ball that was 12 МЉ because it barely bounced.
Introduction

the quality reliability, safety and performance of vehicle tires as well. The next problem addressed
could be whether different surfaces could affect the rebound of a ball or the performance of a tire.

State Party System Pros And Cons
Devolelopement of the state party system:
This section deals with California s history as a party system. If you go all the way back to 1850
when the state of California had its first governor campaign the winner was a man named Peter
Burnett a independent democrat raised in Missouri. All of the other positions including Lt.
Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, and Treasurer were also all independent democrats.
The democratic party developed right at the start and thrived fro the next 5 years with a clean
sweep. Going into 1856 is when the republican party started to really show their colors in the state
of California. Throughout this time the republican party was off and on with holding office chairs

With this new system parties are no longer required for having someone chosen to run for general
election or even congressional elections. In doing this in a sense all the candidate are grouped
together this is what s known as a party preference. Then like most elections the two top winners
battle it out the crazy thing is these two candidates can be from the same party so a democrat
could be facing a democrat and a republican could face off against another republican. There is
really no change with presidential primaries this is just for the state and local level. There are
other states that do this as well such as Louisiana, and Nebraska. There are some pros and cons
to this way of a party system just like any party system nothing is perfect but I really like this
way due to the fact that the top two favorites will battle it out even if its two people from the
same party. There are some rules in California when it comes to finances and taking money from
downers. All money donated needs to be kept of file and tracked. A campaign treasurer has to be
appointed no matter what money cannot be accepted from outside sources if a treasurer isn t
appointed yet this is a huge rule in California. A treasurer must keep track of documents. Certain
forms have to be filled out after 1000 dollars have been raised or spent. Contributions of all kind
are ok but they need to be tracked and documented the only issue is you can accept cash over the
extent of 100 dollars. Money laundering has been an issue in California and that absolutely not
allowed. In a nutshell always fill out the proper paperwork for finances keep good records of who
donated and never take money without so and candidates cant pay extreme expenses out of there

Vietnam s History and the Twentieth Century
It is both necessary and helpful to study the context of prior history because it reveals who we are
in relation to other people, cultures, and countries. Exploring the history of different peoples and
cultures experiences provides a clearer picture of their views, beliefs, feelings, and opinions.
History is a story told from a political and educational style. Learninghow the past shaped a country
and the leaders that had a part in it helps us understand that country s ways and interactions with
other countries.
The study of history influences our understanding of others and their culture. Like the quote If
we don t know from where we came, we don t know where we are going . Envisage a world
where no one knew anything about history; no documentation of any event, place or person. How
would anyone be able to 1) avoid repeating past mistakes. 2) know anything of those who came
before and all of their struggles, successes, and failures. By learning about history s participants
and events, we can find a source of inspiration from their courage, diligence and leadership styles.
One of the main reasons to study world history is to learn from and guard against past mistakes.
Today s military leaders should study not only their current enemy s war tactics and maneuvers but
also those of any others that took place in the area to provide context that helps equip an agile mind
to make informed decisions. Using the past actions, military leaders could anticipate their moves

Children s Child Welfare Reform Essay
In 1980, about 500,000 children were in foster care, but a series of successful reforms began with
that year s Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act which dramatically decreased the number
of children in foster care. But in the early 1990s, with the advent of crack cocaine and an
economic recession numbers went back up. Child welfare advocates said that the foster caresystem
was in need of changes so that children spend less time in foster placements and that America s
child welfare system needed an improvement. Some children in care were separated from their
siblings, others transitioned from one foster care placement to another, never knowing where to call
home. Too many children were being abused in systems that were supposed to protect them. Instead
of being safely reunified with their families or moved quickly into adoptive homes many remained
in foster homes or institutions for years.
In 2014, over 650,000 children spent time in the child welfare foster care system. On average,
children remain in state care for nearly two years and seven percent of children in foster care
remain in foster care for five years or more. The majority of children in foster care are very
young, the average age of children in care is around the age of nine. In 2014, more than half of
children entering the United States foster care system were children of color. While most children

The Simpsons
The Simpsons is an original, satirical American sitcom cartoon, which is shown all over the world
and appeals to a wide range of audiences with its unique, yet basic form of humour. It stereotypes
and satirises the typical American lower middle class family. With its simple plots, exaggerated
situations, unrealistic scenarios, lurid colours, humour, animation and familiar pattern, it is a
typical cartoon but with an original twist. This makes it like no other cartoon made before, the twist
is the level of humour used in the Simpsons, and this type of humour is called satire. There are

Marge is also like Wilma in that they are both housewives, really care for their children and aspire
to be the perfect wife. Another thing that has linked on is that quite often the naming of the families
is used as the name of the show/programme for example, The Simpsons, The Jetsons and the
Flintstones.
The Flintstones did a spin off series and created a different sitcom that was almost identical to the
jokes and the theme, but it was set in the space age.
The only way that Flintstones and the Jetsons are different to the way in which the Simpsons
works, is the type of humour used. The Simpsons humour is a lot more complex and has clever
jokes; it satirises and makes a joke about political, literary, and cultural values of Americaand the
rest of the world. Whereas the Flintstones and Jetsons just make a joke about the time which they
are set in (stone age and space age) and the artefacts they use and twist them to be funny. For
example in the Flintstones they use a lawn mower which is really a pterodactyl which cuts the
grass and speaks. This is why the Simpsons is revolutionary, also because no cartoon sitcom has

We know moms struggle to get their kids to eat well, and we believe our message provides a
reminder that the taste of Hidden Valley Ranch has the power to encourage kids to eat their
vegetables ( New Hidden Valley Ad ). A recent study at the University of California shows that
kids ate 23 percent more vegetables when paired with a moderate amount of ranch dressing (
New Hidden Valley Ad ). This visual advertisement published in multiple target advertising
markets such as the June 2008 volume of Good Housekeeping periodical targets parents,
especially moms, who worry about their children s diets, constantly struggling to get their kids to
eat enough vegetables (Hidden Valley). Hidden Valley uses a common photography strategy in
the advertisement known as encapsulation. Encapsulation is a classic technique used to hijack

Alfred Rosenberg And The Life Of Alfred Rosenberg
Alfred Rosenberg was born January 12, 1893 in Reval, Estonia. His parents were Baltic
Germans. Rosenberg studied architecture at the Riga Polytechnical Institute in Moscow and
received his diploma in 1917. In his younger years, he was interested in the works of German
Idealists and Kant, Nietzsche and Houston Stewart Chamberlain. However the greatest influence
in his life was Indian philosophy. He goes on to say that he liked that his school from when he
was very young was an oasis of peace for all the young children who attended, who were of
different national origins. Rosenberg had a special place in his heart for art, philosophy.
(Rosenberg, 3).
He got a travel permit to Germany after the Revolution of 1917 because he believed that his
homeland would no longer be the same. He says that he left his homeland in search of a fatherland
for himself (Rosenberg, 13). He went to Germany in 1918 and met Dietrich Eckhart who was the
person whom he worked closely with and was also the one that connected him with Adolf Hitler.
Rosenberg joined the Nazi party in 1919 and Adolf Hitler and other well known Nazis joined soon

The Emergence Of Italian Nationalism
The emergence of Italian nationalism began in the Renaissance Era and was then encouraged by
key Italian figures, leading to the unification of Italy which was overall beneficial for the country.
(mention benefits for Italy and how it is today)
Before unification, Italy was a collection of different independent states. The Italian Wars, which
went on from 1494 to 1559, were fought for the control of these Italian states by European powers.
The most consistently fought over city states in Italy were Naples, Florence, Venice, Sicily, and the
Papal State of Rome. Many European powers were involved in the beginning, but soon the wars
became a struggle between mainly France and Spain. While the Italian Wars were harsh on Italy,
they helped to spread the Italian Renaissance throughout Western Europe. The Renaissance Era
began a new way of thinking, which has been traced to the beginnings of Italian nationalism, which
has contributed to the Unification of Italy.
The Italian Wars began in 1494, when Charles VIII of France invaded Italy, and in 1495
conquered Naples. When challenged by Spain, the Roman Emperor, the pope, Venice, and Milan,
France was forced to retreat. Charles VIII successor, Louis XII had control over Milan and Genoa
in 1499. The second Italian War occurred when Louis then gained control of Naples by getting
permission from Pope Alexander VI, and agreeing to share it with Ferdinand V of Spain. This
resulted in disagreements between France and Spain

equivalent of at least 42 million acres of tropical forests in Asia, Africa, and Latin America are
lost each year, an area the size of the state of Washington (RFA). Now some may say in a

The rate of deforestation we globally are participating in is making this possible. Just like any
plant or animal evolution occurs in microorganisms, and the more we create and produce
antibiotics to fight these organisms, they evolve to resist. Now you may be wondering how on
Earth does this correlate with deforestation ? And there is logical answer. Covering only 6 percent
of the Earth s surface, tropical moist forests contain at least half of all species. The abundant
botanical resources of tropical forests have already provided tangible medical advances; yet only 1
percent of the known plant and animal species have been thoroughly examined for their medicinal
potentials (adlife). Think about this if the Amazon is considered one of the most undiscovered
places on earth, and we continue to slash and burn and deforest at a rapid rate , potentially we can

Tiger Sharks Research Paper
What do Sharks eat?
Introduction
Sharks consume prey to live; similar to all living organisms, food is needed for survival. Sharks
are found in waters all over the world and they come in a variety shapes and sizes. Some sharks
are as small as a human hand and some sharks can be the size of a small to medium boat. The size,
environment, and characteristics of the shark, will dictate what food the shark prefers. Generally,
people think sharks will eat anything that it comes into contact with, but that is not the case. As a
rule, humans are not a food source for sharks, although it is hard to comprehend due to the amount
of shark attacks. In reality, sharks kill a considerable amount less humans than humans kill sharks.

mollusks, and plant material were all found in the stomach of Bonnethead sharks in the Northwest
Florida, Tampa Bay, and Florida Bay studies. In Northwest Florida, adult bonnetheads fed mostly
on crabs, whereas in Florida Bay, adult bonnetheads fed mostly on other crustaceans and
cephalopods (Bethea et al). Bonnethead sharks are one of the smaller hammerhead species; ranging
from two to five feet in length, known for their semicircular head. It is not know if the plant
material found in the stomach of the bonnethead is due to the shark eating it intentionally or if the
plant gets consumed as the bonnethead is eating the crab, shrimp or other food sources on the
bottom of the ocean

Hitler s Rise to Power
Hitler s rise to power was not inevitable. It depended heavily on a range of factors, events and
circumstances that were occurring at the time. The most important of these being, the collapse of
the German economy, the failed beer hall putsch and the weakness and infighting of the Weimar
Republic. It was only through a combination of these unlikely circumstances that Hitler was able to
come to power.
One of the key events that allowed Hitler to come to power was the collapse of the German
economy. Primarily due to the harsh conditions of The Treaty of Versailles the German economy
was always precariously close to falling apart. It managed to survive an extreme amount of
hyperinflation in the early 1920 s, wherein money became ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

(Geary, 2000 pg 21) Without this incentive to vote for the Nazi party, Hitler may never have come
to power.
Another significant event in Hitler s journey to power was the Beer Hall putsch. The Beer Hall
putsch was an attempt by the Nazi party to gain control of the government by force. It is widely
regarded as a total failure with 16 stormtroopers being killed and Hitler being sent to prison for
High Treason (Kitson, 2001 pg 120). It was during his nine months in prison that Hitler was able
to reflect upon the fortunes of the Nazi party, coming to the conclusion that if he were to ever
become leader of Germany it would have to be through gathering electoral support rather than
through sheer force. (Kitson, 2001 pg 120) He also made several other important decisions that
would greatly impact the future of the party and ultimately allow Hitler to come to power, such as
deciding that strict organisation was necessary and a larger geographical base would distinguish
the party from other Nationalist groups, as well as concluding that the Fuhrer s will need to
dominate completely to enable the Nazi s to appear united (Kitson, 2001 pg 120). The Beer Hall
putsch although a failure, made Hitler realise

Gender Pay Bias
The Equal Pay Act of 1963 and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 outlawed gender discrimination
(Macionis, 2012). That is, employers cannot discriminate when setting pay for men and women
(Macionis, 2012). Although these laws exist in the United States, median wages for women
amounts to seventy nine percent of median wages for men (Hirschfeld Davis, 2016). As a result,
President Barack Obama signed an executive law that will close genderpay gap with mandatory
reporting and penalize companies that engage in discriminatory pay practices (Hirschfeld Davis,
2016).
According to Macionis (2012), gender biases affects how women are promoted in the workplace.
This is a form of glass ceiling, which is the subtle discrimination that effectively blocks

Essay On Tennis Courts
Types of Tennis Courts
1.Clay Courts
Clay courts are considered slow since a ball will bounce relatively higher and more slowly on a
clay court, thus making it much more difficult for a player to hit unreturnable shots. Clay courts are
unique in that the ball bounce leaves a mark on the surface, and this mark can be used to determine
whether or not the shot was in.
Type of Surface/Material
Clay courts are made from natural stone that is crushed into different levels. The finest level which
is in powder form is used for the upper most layers and loosely bound together with water.
Effects on Style of Play

The Case For The Use Of Popular App
The Case for Snapchat The purpose of this document is to provide a combative argument for the
concerns I anticipate you raising concerning the use of popular app Snapchat. Snapchat is
culturally viewed as a social network, along the lines of Facebook and Instagram. However, it is
not categorized under Social Networking in the Apple App Store, but Photo Video. It focuses on
individual communication as opposed to public posting. Since mass social networking holds appeal
to many users, Snapchat added the Stories feature in October 2013. When a useris selecting who
views an image, they can select one or multiple friends, and/or upload to their Story. This allows
the photo to be viewed unlimited times for 24 hours, when it is then made unavailable. The
services offered by the Snapchat app include Snaps, Chat and Video Chat, Stories (community fed
/location based, business or individual), and Snapcash. If any of terms are unknown, here are
definitions of each, pulled directly from Snapchat s website and Law Enforcement Guide:
I believe that there are three main reasons why you are weary of downloading and allowing my
use of the app Snapchat. They are as follows:
1) Illusion of ephemerality 2) Interactions with unknown users distrust of known users 3) Security

When this high wire balancing act fails to deliver ,a scapegoat has to be found. That is when
mitigating excuses are postulated e.g. the lecturers are out of their depth in their specialty areas,
modules are outdated etc. The legitimacy or not of these excuses is part of the subject of this
study. 1.1)STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM: Given the above background it is apparent that
there is a gap between students expectations and the results from their studies. 1.2)RESEARCH

Something s Got Ta Give
Something s Gotta Give Research Essay Something s Gotta Give is an award winning movie
written by Nancy Meyers. This romantic drama is greatly known for its middle aged comedic
relief because it highlights the sexual encounters between an old bachelor and a cougar of a
woman. The reviews written by Roger Ebert, A.O. Scott and Christopher Orr are about the movie
Something s Gotta Give which will include an opinion on the strengths and weaknesses of how
each review is written.
Roger Ebert s 2003 movie review of Something Gotta Give was more informational than it was a
review. Ebert used a tone in his writing that would lead readers to believe more details are needed
about the characters and set to understand and form an opinion. Ebert made sure readers were
aware of the award winning cast featuring Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton, Keanu Reeves, Amanda
Pete and Frances McDormand. Ebert observed while watching this film that he himself was moved
by the characters. Toward the end of his informational bit Ebert makes an observation that there is a
sexual mystery surrounding the situation between Erica played by Diane Keaton, Dr. Mercer
played by Keanu Reeves and the notorious Harry played by Jack Nicholson. With plenty of nudity
to go around Ebert suggests Nicholson might have contributed to the screenplay.
A review written for the New York Times by A.O. Scott in 2003 about the movie Something s
Gotta Give was described as a weep, and the world laughs hysterically movie.

Changes In Juvenile Crimes
In 2012 a ten year old boy in Southern California murdered his friend with a kitchen knife by
repeatedly stabbing the friend in the chest. The suspect was said to have anger issues and a mental
illness that he was medicated for. The boy, charged with felony assault and murder, was tried in a
Juvenile Court and later sentenced to juvenile rehabilitation. Depending on the crimeand age of a
defendant, the Juvenile Justice System decides whether or not to put the case in the hands of the
Juvenile Court and try them as children. Due to the defendant s unusual young age he was tried as a
child,. Often times fifteen, sixteen, or seventeen year olds are tried as adults, when they should not
be. The underlying assumptions about juveniles is that they are not developmentally able to be
treated as adults, and that they can be put through rehabilitation programs and change for the better.
Whereas adults are thought as not being able to change their ways, so locking them up is a more
suitable answer. Juveniles are also thought of as not knowing their rights, leading to unfair... Show

The rate increased greatly during the mid 1990 s and then decreased dramatically after 1996. A
Possible cause of the changes in juvenile crime rates may be parental negligence and a lack of
discipline. In the early and mid 1900 s parents would smoke around their children, drink while
pregnant, and allow their children to do as they pleased, today things are very different. Times
have changed and what used to be acceptable has also changed. Today more high school graduates
go to college than before, society has higher expectations for juveniles than it used to. The usage of
juvenile rehabilitation has increased in order to keep this trend going. Prisons have also started to
overflow, which may have a connection to the Juvenile Justice System assigning more cases to the

Essay about The Missile Defense System of the United States
The Missile Defense System of the United States
Abstract
When Ronald Reagan was in the Presidency, he and his staff came up with the idea for a missile
defense system that would defend the country in the event of a nuclear missile attack. This system
was named Star Wars and the basic principal behind it was that it would be a shield that covered all
fifty states. However, government officials soon realized that Reagan s defense system was
impossible to build, so the program was dropped, but the idea to defend the country against a
missile attack stuck around. Today, the U. S. Government is trying to build a new, more realistic
missile defense system. However, not all the problems have been worked out, and the U. S.
Government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another one of its missions is to develop and maintain the option to deploy a cost effective,
operationally effective, and Anti Ballistic Missile Treaty compliant system that could protect the
states against a country that may pose a threat. The most important part of this is definitely the
protection of all the states against a missile attack. In order to make a defense system that would
work, the National Missile Defense would need to have a system that meets the missile threat
when it s released, detect a launch of a missile, track it using radars and destroy the warhead above
the atmosphere of earth (National missile defense, 2000).
History
The new missile defense program started in 1993 after the Department of Defense decided to
conduct a review that would select the strategy, force structure, and modernization programs for
America s defense in the post Cold War era. When the U. S. S. R. broke apart, it was decided
that there was not much of a threat from China or the former Soviet Union. However, it was
uncertain how easy it would be for a third world country to come into possession of long range
missiles. In response to their uncertainty, the Defense Department built the National Missile
Defense in order to develop and keep the ability to launch a missile defense if a threat emerged
(National missile defense, 2000).
In 1994, Congress called for a great acceleration in the development of the missile defense system.
This call represented a sense

MADDOX V. MONTGOMERY United States Courts of Appeals, Eleventh Circuit 718 F.2d 1033
(11th Cir. 1983) Facts:

violation of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Maddox had appealed the denial of habeas relief.
Decision of the Court:
The United States Court of appeals ruled that the suppressed evidence is purely impeaching
evidence and no defense request has been made, the suppressed evidence is material only if its
introduction probably would have resulted in acquittal. Given a minor role of Phillips testimony
and the limited impact that Phelps statement had on the jury s assessment of Phillips credibility,
Maddox could not demonstrate that so the evidence probably would have resulted in an acquittal.
Also, the evidence was immaterial under United States V.Blasco; the defendant filed a joint motion
to suppress all physical evidence gathered by the officers and any statements made by the
defendant. The magistrate found that the defendant did not have to raise a fourth amendment
challenge and its suppression did not violate his (Maddox s) due process right. For ongoing
reasons, the district court s dismissal of Maddox s habeas petition was affirmed.
Reasoning of the Court:
The United States Court of Appeals first determined that Brady doctrine did not apply because the
Maddox defense team had not requested the information be disclosed. It was only after
unsuccessfully pursuing his direct appeal did he bring up this post conviction habeas corpus petition.
In the United States v. Agurs the Court stated that such a failure to

Awake of the Civil War
In the wake of the Civil War, Congress acceded to pressure to have the federal government intercede
to secure African Americans rights. What were some of the long range effects of that government
posture?
The Union Victory in the Civil War in 1865 granted freedom to approximately 4 million slaves,
however, the process of rebuilding the South during the Reconstruction period 1865 1877 brought a
lot of challenges. In 1865 and 1866 under the supervision of President Andrew Johnson, new
Southern state legislatives passed the black codes to control the labor and behavior of former
slaves and other African Americans. During the Radical Reconstruction in 1869, new enfranchised
blacks had a voice in the government for the first time in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although freedom to become citizens took longer and the fight more difficult, a great number of
African Americans steadily gained various rights which accumulated over time. It is important to
note that racial segregations momentum dissipated over time as more and more blacks held
positions of authority and congressional approval overwhelmingly supported more rights for
blacks. Nonetheless, it is also imperative to consider how white supremacists such as the KKK
fought to undo the important developments. Till this day, both the executive legislative and
judiciary wings of government are constantly battling instances of racial segregation. However, the
long range effects of federal government struggle to secure equal rights for African Americans has
been significant successes in the rise of African American entrepreneurship. The proliferation of
blacks in both government and civil society, the rise of blacks in academia, sports and liberal arts
are long effects of the fight for African American rights. This has progressively opened up
American society and in a way, levelled the playing field. Also this federal government action to
intervene in the affairs of the state has lived on throughout the 21st century.

Two Outliers Lab Report
From the graph above we can see that the hypothesis was correct. The line of best fit shows that
there were 2 outliers. If there were no sources of error, the graph would be decreasing fairly
constantly. Also, as you can see from the table above the trend appears to be fine until it reaches
2 methylpropan 2 ol. The reason for this is because compared to the other alcohols, 2
methylpropan 2 ol does not have a very neat structure, instead it is more globular and more
compact. Due to it being more compact it s intermolecular forces are different. Although it has a
higher molecular mass than propan 1 ol it s temperature change is larger. Instead, the general trend
for this lab should have been that as the molecular mass of the alcohol increases the temperature
change decreases because the London dispersion forces are getting stronger. As you can see all...

2 methylpropan 2 ol is an outlier because it is a tertiary alcohol compared to other alcohols which
are primary alcohols. Due to it being a tertiary alcohol, the hydroxyl group is bonded with a
carbon which is bonded to 3 other carbons. This means it is not flat and neat compared to the
straight chained alcohols causing the intermolecular forces to be weaker. One improvement in
the future is to choose a different alcohol such as butan 1 ol which is a primary alcohol.
Secondly, propan 1 ol is also an outlier. Some explanations could be the size of the paper around
the probe was not consistent causing an error in the temperature change. Some ways to fix this
error is to make sure the size of the paper is consistent in each trial. Also, volume of alcohol in the
test tube was not consistent in each trial, it was approximately 2 cm. This causes errors because it
can effect the change in temperature for each trial and effecting the average. An improvement is to
measure 2 cm of alcohol exactly reducing any errors which will effect the

  • 2. Theory Of Teaching And Learning Theory of Teaching and Learning Part 1. What I Believe about Teaching and Learning It is my opinion that conventional teaching strategies cannot meet the requirements of the classroom environment. First, the classroom environment has been culturally diversified. Second, not all students have similar capabilities or work at the same rate even if they are of the same age. Third, each student has their own learning style. In addition, some students do not react well to the conventional strategies of teaching and, as a result, there is a lack of learning (Heimlich Norland, 2002, p. 18). A Constructivist teaching environment affords more opportunties for both teachers and students, and makes learning more efficient and effective. The Montessori teaching technique is one of the best techniques because of its eight fundamental principles (Lillard, 2005, p. 29). These principles include: The premise that cognition and movement are closely interrelated, and that movement can improve cognition and learning in students. It also holds that the process of learning and well being are enhanced when an individual or student has some degree of control over their lives. Individuals learn well when they develop an interest in what they are being taught. The technique also holds that associating learning activities with a certain reward such as monetary rewards and promises for better grades, adversely affects the learning process and negatively motivates the students to learn ... • 3. Grande Odalisque And The Nightmare Comparison Both Grande Odalisque and The Nightmare, were created during a time period ruled by Neoclassism and Romanticism. Grande Odalisque is an oil painting created by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres in 1814. The Nightmare is an oil painting created by Henry Fuseli in 1781. Grande Odalisque and The Nightmare have very unique themes that represent each of their artists own unique style, despite their differences they still maintain certain similarities through the Romantic qualities that each possess. In order to fully comprehend the meaning of works of art, it is important to understand the artist behind them. Obtaining knowledge on an artist s life can help the viewer comprehend possible messages that a work of art is trying to present. Jean Auguste... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He achieves this by using oil paint on canvas. Its main focus is that of a nude European woman in the foreground, the woman stares apathetically at the viewer. Her body is lounging on a blue couch, with rich linens crumpled beneath her. There are elaborately embroidered curtains hanging behind her. The only thing adorning her body is a turban in her hair and a peacock feathered fan clutched in her hand. The feathers could be symbolizing the woman s integrity and high social standing, which is indicative to peacocks. The cool blue tones used throughout the piece help emphasize the woman s calm demeanor. Her body is long and languid, which Ingres was able to achieve with illusionism. He often distorted the human form to achieve idealistic images, such as the lengthening of the woman s torso ( Jean 122). The contrast between her skin and the environment helps her body stand out in comparison. The lines that define her body curve softly, giving her a sensual and smooth appearance in contrast to the angular lines used in the environment. Ingres portrays the young woman as a concubine in a harem looking over her shoulder at her master. Although he had attempted Neoclassicism this picture leans to a more Romantic approach, which is the reason it was not well received when it was displayed in a Salon in Paris ( Jean ... • 4. The Ethical Principles Of Health Care Professionals Many times health professional encounter in daily practice situations that raise moral issues. Four essential values constitute the most significant parts of the ethical code for healthcare professionals; justice, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and autonomy. (DeGrazia, Mappes, Brand Ballard, 2010, p. 88). These two talks both emphasize the importance of the role of a health care professional, especially during the healing process for any patient. According to Elizabeth Loftus, ethically scientists/researchers can t morally place false memories in their own patients, even if planting the false memories improves their quality of life. A principle can be defined as the universal law, or a basic truth. Like rule, principles are action guides and assists an individual in making a moral decision. In both videos there were many ethical principles that were evident. Health care professionals during the healing process need to practice these ethical principles to improve the patient s overall well being beneficence, nonmaleficience, and autonomy. Elizabeth Loftus is a psychologist, in which she studies false memories. A false memory is when a person either recalls situations that didn t occur or recollects the situation differently from what actually happened. Ethical limitations do arise for the study participants. Are they able to make an informed consent? The experimental researcher cannot lie nor withhold information from the subject participants, which can completely weaken ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The 1815 Eruption of Mount Tambora Mount Tambora, located on the Island of Sumbawa, Indonesia is classified as a Stratovolcano. Also known as a composite volcano, Tambora is a tall conical volcano (cone like structure) where layers of the walls are built by hardened lava and volcanic ash. The term composite is used to describe the volcano due to the composite layered structure built from sequential outpourings of eruptive materials1. Among the most common types of volcanoes, Tambora also shares its destructive prowess with best known volcanoes such as Krakota (1883) and Vesuvius (79 A.D). The Island of Sumbawa is located in the middle of the Lesser Sunda Islands chain (a group of islands in the southern Maritime Southeast Asia) and is in the province of West Nusa Tenggara3. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Understanding the eruptive history of Tambora can provide crucial information needed to detect and prepare for future events. Furthermore, it is important to test current understanding of plate tectonics to ensure scientists are adequately prepared to predict where future volcanoes may occur, using past volcanoes like Tambora as a model. 2.0 Plate Tectonics of Indonesia Indonesia is situated between two tectonically active plates: Australian and Eurasian plate. It is important to understand the amount of fault motion between these plates, as it is the major source of influence regarding eruptions in the region. The result of these tectonically active plates is the creation of the Circum Pacific belt (termed the Pacific Ring of Fire) and the Alpide Belt. Figure 3 provides a pictorial view of both plates and their relation to the Circum Pacific belt. The Circum Pacific belt is the world s greatest earthquake belt, with a series of fault lines stretching 25,00 miles7. An unfortunate circumstance for the inhabitants of Indonesia who are situated between these two belts, the eruptions of earthquakes and volcanoes are far too common. Essentially, volcanoes erupt either due to divergent tectonic plates pulling apart causing an eruption, or convergent tectonic plates coming together (forming great pressure) causing an eruption8. In the case of Indonesia and the Circum Pacific belt, the latter is more common. Because Indonesia and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1956, the FLNs leaders realized they had to change their strategy in order to attract international attention. • 12. Consumerism In Oh Wonder American philosopher Rebecca Goldstein once said, Our society is falling back increasingly on rampant consumerism and self promoting social media as a way for people to feel that their lives matter self centered means of numbing the questions of mattering. In a world caught up in mass media and consumerism, there is an underlying argument that there is a lack of positive social interaction. With the ability to say anything without having a face to face conversation, hate is easier than ever to spread and people can avoid each other yet still interact . According to Dolan, Rock, in particular, has always had an uneasy relationship with mass culture, since it faces the problem of espousing the aesthetics of rebellion and countercultural ideals while at the same time depending on the mechanisms of mass culture for dissemination and distribution. In the case of the bandOh Wonder, they attempt to use their fame to spread ideas of love and compassion. Oh Wonder is the singer/songwriter duo of Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht hailing from London England. Starting off in a separate band and a solo artist respectively, West and Vander Gucht started with the idea to produce a song once a month on Soundcloud and YouTube. • 13. Maya Angelu Speech A Brave Woman Around 10,000 people including four US presidents attended the six hour funeral of civil rights (Waldron, 2006, p.7): Coretta Scott King. King was an outspoken opponent of injustices ranging from capitol punishments to apartheid in South Africa (Goodman, 2008). She was a great supporter of everyone s rights. King was a brave woman who went through lots of hard challenges in her life and somehow always found a way to get up and keep moving forward to continue her fight for justice. Coretta had many speakers at her funeral (Waldron, 2006, p.7), but one that really stood out was her best friend Maya Angelou. Maya Angelou was an esteemed poet, author, dancer, actress, and singer who was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 4, 1928 (Behr, 2014). In the eulogy that was published in 2008 Angelou talked about the beliefs of King, the human beings she cared for, and memorable moments they spent together. She gave a very effective speech, starting off by singing in a way that connected with her audience, used pathos, and humor. One reason Angelou s speech was effective was through the connection she made with her audience. Angelou opened and closed her speech by bursting heartily and soulfully into what sounded like a hymnal song. (Angelou, 2008) The musical addition added a spiritual element to not just her talk, but to the entire funeral. • 16. Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise... Perception of the World and False Images from White Noise Don DeLillo s award winning novel White Noise takes the idea of the supremacy of false images to the extreme. Through various scenarios, such as the airborne toxic event and the Dylar dilemma, DeLillo critiques contemporary society s over dependence on false images. The characters in the novel that exemplify this over dependence appear humorous on one hand, yet tragic on the other. The humor comes from the novel s characters behaving like cartoon characters who continually get hurt, but keep coming back for more. The novel s characters keep getting hurt by false images, yet continue to believe in them, causing the reader to smack his or her head in astonishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jack, at the advice of the chancellor, had changed his name to J.A.K. Gladney by inventing an extra initial. The chancellor also told him to gain weight to look more formidable. He wanted me to grow out into Hitler. If I could become more ugly, he seemed to be suggesting, it would help my career enormously (17). April 14, 2015 marked Equal Pay Day this year, which shows how far into the new year the average American woman would have to be employeed to earn what the average American man did last year. Both genders see the lack of balance in the workplace. A lot of men and women believe America needs to continue making changes to achieve eqaulity in the workplace. Accorging to the White House, women working full time have to work nearly sixty more additional days, in order to earn what men did at the end of last year. In 1980, the average woman would have had to work nearly three extra months into May, just to catch up with men s earning s from the previous year (Patten, 2015). The pay gap between men and women continues possibly because women put their careers on hold to care for their families. Research shows that these types of choices can have a negative affect on long term earnings. Approximately, four of ten mothers have taken a lot of time from work, which is thirty nine percent. Approximately, forty two percent have reduced their work hours to care for a family member or child. He starts to become a stronger more mature boy and soon enough realizes all the power he posses. He has an older brother named Peter, and an older sister named Valentine. He at first is this little, weak kid, and in five years goes from that to a mature leader of an army. We see him progress to the top of what he becomes, but it does not happen easily. He has to make many hard decisions that could go any which way. Hey third, we re talkin to you, Third, hey bugger lover, we re talkin to you. (Card. 6). In the beginning Stilson (a bully) comes up to Ender with a group of guys. They surround him and start to bully him. At first Ender takes it, then Stilson swings at him, and we see Ender break out of his shell. Ender not only beats him, but we find out he killed him. This is where we see Ender realize what he is capable of. After the fight, we see Ender go back to his quiet self. Again a blow to the head. Go away Ender thought.I didn t do anything to you. I know I haven t exactly been keeping my promises on the due dates and I m only fortifying the stigma that I touched on in my last email but I ve still got a few questions. (Did you get my last email, by the way?) Anyway, would you just like me to submit what I have? I have well over two minutes and way more than five angles. Sound has also been added and mixed. The entire movie, however, is not finished. It should give you enough to grade or at least be a worthy placeholder until I can really submit a product I m not totally disappointing with. I know it may be hard to even fathom what could possibly be taking so long but I ve been mulling over several other things regarding this project. One of the reasons I can t seem to get anywhere and one of the areas I m constantly getting hung up on is the nature and tone of the project itself. I wanted to establish a sort of creepy and unsettling mood for the project and I can t achieve what I was originally visioning in my head. Some of the animations employed simply seem to make their scene seem frivolous, silly, and awkward. I may spend up to an hour or two just trying to figure out how to make the seemingly insignificant feel right. Another issue that I m having is that there are several frame rate and frame jump mishaps that have occurred during the initial picture taking. SOWK 641 Fall 2016 Assignment#2: Article Reviews Mary Marrone USC School of Social Work October 6, 2016 Course Instructor: Dr. Finney Key Points Both articles identify the issue of providing mental health services for veterans with an extra emphasis on those that served in Afghanistan and Iraq (OEF/OIF veterans). It is no surprise that returning veterans suffer from both visible/invisible (physical and mental) wounds. Most veterans have this high expectation that they are going to receive quality care from both the DoD and VA. Unfortunately reality steps in where veterans are slapped in the face because they are receiving a lack of poor quality care all while jumping through Beuracractic hoops. The challenges faced to access these services include resistance, stigma, lack of professionalism, and geographic and/or regional disparities in the distribution of services resources and/or benefits, and the system simply refusing to change. The articles address the prevalence of the issue of mental health and claims the importance of policy reform at all levels of society. Gaps in Research The research is limited in that there is enough on just the narrative of substance abuse and enough research on mental illnesses, but research is limited when it comes to dual diagnoses. There are inconsistencies within the research, where researchers fail to address advocacy at the state and federal levels; therefore not addressing the snowball effect of the poor ... Vietnam s History and the Twentieth Century It is both necessary and helpful to study the context of prior history because it reveals who we are in relation to other people, cultures, and countries. Exploring the history of different peoples and cultures experiences provides a clearer picture of their views, beliefs, feelings, and opinions. History is a story told from a political and educational style. Learninghow the past shaped a country and the leaders that had a part in it helps us understand that country s ways and interactions with other countries. The study of history influences our understanding of others and their culture. Like the quote If we don t know from where we came, we don t know where we are going . But in the early 1990s, with the advent of crack cocaine and an economic recession numbers went back up. Child welfare advocates said that the foster caresystem was in need of changes so that children spend less time in foster placements and that America s child welfare system needed an improvement. Some children in care were separated from their siblings, others transitioned from one foster care placement to another, never knowing where to call home. • 40. The Emergence Of Italian Nationalism The emergence of Italian nationalism began in the Renaissance Era and was then encouraged by key Italian figures, leading to the unification of Italy which was overall beneficial for the country. (mention benefits for Italy and how it is today) Before unification, Italy was a collection of different independent states. The Italian Wars, which went on from 1494 to 1559, were fought for the control of these Italian states by European powers. The most consistently fought over city states in Italy were Naples, Florence, Venice, Sicily, and the Papal State of Rome. Many European powers were involved in the beginning, but soon the wars became a struggle between mainly France and Spain. While the Italian Wars were harsh on Italy, they helped to spread the Italian Renaissance throughout Western Europe. The Renaissance Era began a new way of thinking, which has been traced to the beginnings of Italian nationalism, which has contributed to the Unification of Italy. The Italian Wars began in 1494, when Charles VIII of France invaded Italy, and in 1495 conquered Naples. When challenged by Spain, the Roman Emperor, the pope, Venice, and Milan, France was forced to retreat. Charles VIII successor, Louis XII had control over Milan and Genoa in 1499. The second Italian War occurred when Louis then gained control of Naples by getting permission from Pope Alexander VI, and agreeing to share it with Ferdinand V of Spain. In order to make a defense system that would work, the National Missile Defense would need to have a system that meets the missile threat when it s released, detect a launch of a missile, track it using radars and destroy the warhead above the atmosphere of earth (National missile defense, 2000). When the U. S. S. R. broke apart, it was decided that there was not much of a threat from China or the former Soviet Union. Some explanations could be the size of the paper around the probe was not consistent causing an error in the temperature change. Some ways to fix this error is to make sure the size of the paper is consistent in each trial. Also, volume of alcohol in the test tube was not consistent in each trial, it was approximately 2 cm. This causes errors because it can effect the change in temperature for each trial and effecting the average. An improvement is to measure 2 cm of alcohol exactly reducing any errors which will effect the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
