Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment
Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural
resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without
water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large
amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and
fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over
stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms
consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to
deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the
respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and
other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites,
urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of
organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass
clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan
in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the
water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved
oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it

The, By Vilhelm Moberg
Willie, a mere boy, swelled with superiority as he contemplated the hilarity of those silly old
folks, fooled by an owl and believing in ghosts.4 The belief in the Sinkhole spöke possibly lived
on beyond the sighting of the owl, as old timers recalled stories of jötunn, the ancient Norse race
of giants, with their powers of shape changing and their inclination for trickery. If they could
change into wolves, as they did in the Norse tales, they certainly could transform into an owl.5 In
his two volume history of the Swedish people, the eminent writer Vilhelm Moberg, relates that
during his childhood in SmГҐland, an isolated and backward province, he met elders that not only
believed in fairies, but actually saw them.6 Willie probably encountered similar mind sets, since
his birth occurred seven year prior to Vilhelm Moberg s and numerous people from SmГҐland
immigrated to east central Minnesota.7 Willie normally concluded the telling of the Sinkhole
spöke tale with a prideful proclamation, My generation was the first modern generation. My
generation was the first not to believe in that stuff. 8 Egged on by the allure of the Sinkhole spöke
tales and not willing to be a passive bystander, Willie stepped into the scene alongside the spöke
and attempted to harass and frighten the gullible adults. After capturing fireflies and coated his
thumbnails with their natural luminescent substance, he lurked on the edge of the Sinkhole road
waiting for unsuspecting travelers.

Analysis Of The Swimmer By John Cheever
John Cheever s writing always reflected his own life in some aspect. In one work he has called
Expelled He tells the story of how he did get expelled from school in detail. In some way Cheever
interprets his own personal experiences into the characters of his stories. In one specific short story,
The Swimmer, Cheever uses the the character Ned s experience to symbolize life. Although it is a
short story, the essence of time in the work is directly related to an entire lifetime. Through the
course of the story there are different emotions represented by the changing of seasons, colors,
temperature, nature, and also people. In The Swimmer . Ned s experience directly correlates to
John Cheevers idea of life.
The Swimmer follows the character Ned through his attempt to swim the county as he swims
across multiple families pools. He does this and also speaks with many people at the houses
parties and also drinks throughout the journey. Ned experiences different and fatigued emotions
as well as physical fatigue. It is midsummer as this journey takes place and the seasons begin to
change from summer to autumn. At the end of his journey he reaches his home which turns out
to be empty. Specifically when Ned was wet from swimming he sensed a storm coming and took
shelter in a gazebo. It is in this instance that he realizes the change of the seasons. The rain had
cooled the air and he shivered. The force of the wind had stripped a maple of its red and yellow
leaves and

The Father And The Son In Cormac Mccarthy s The Road
Imagine a middle age man and a young boy walking on a road of ashes in a post apocalyptic
world. A novel called The Road by Cormac McCarthy describes a similar situation of where a
father and son are trying to survive in post apocalyptic world. However, the emotion of hope
forms inside of the two main characters throughout the novel. The father s role is to protect his
son from dangers, and keep them both alive as long as possible. The son s role is to keep his
father s humanity, and being a media of hope and goodness to the father. In the novel, the father and
the son are traveling toward the coast and south to seek hope. On the roadthe father and the son
have experience countless darkness, death, and terror, for example, the son is capture... Show more

canned goods. Tomatoes, peaches, beans, apricots. Canned hams. Corned beef. Hundreds of
gallons of water, paper plates, Plastic trashbags stuffed with blankets (McCarthy 138). All the
foods sources the father finds represent hopes for the father and the son to continue living as a
normal human being. Because without food the father and son are not able to continue living
and they might become cannibalistic. Another scene in the novel that the father finds resources
of useful tools is hope is when the father and the son are about to leave the beach, the father went
back to the ship and do one last search. In the last search the father is able find items under the
deck of the ship. One of the items is a composite toolbox, Inside was a yellow plastic flashlight,
an electric strobebeacon powered by a drycell, a first aid kit. A yellow plastic EPIRB. And a
black plastic case about the size of a book (McCarthy 240). The first aid kit the father find
represents hope to the father and the son because when the father and son are walking in a town,
and when they approach the last sad wooden building the father and the son gets attack by a man
with bow. The father is trying to protect the boy so he uses his body on top of the boy to prevent
the arrow shot to the boy. As a result the father is hit at the leg by an arrow, however, because the
father has the first aid kit, the father is able to fix the injury to prevent large amount of blood loss

Leading Shiite Ideologies, Questions and Answers
Questions:
Briefly identify the main features of the 3 main variations among the leading Shiite ideologies with
regard to Iranian culture and the Shah s regime? What were the main issues Ayatollah Khomeini
had with the Shah s regime?
Answer:
The Iranian revolution was an ideological affair. With different visions for the future of Iran, the
revolutionaries were united for toppling the monarchy, which they had substantially. All the visions
of these revolutionary, however, were colored by ideology. Ayatollah Khomeini was the leader of
that Iranian revolution against the shah. Khomeini marched with Shi ite (Shiyah) Ideology to
denounce the Shahs and created a negative impression among the Iranian People against the Shah
s regime. The Shi ite Ideologies were based on Islamic shariah, The Iranian culture was based on
Islamic culture with an increasing influence of western culture and the shah s regime was friendly
with the western culture policies and mostly against the Shi ite Islamic fundamentalism. The
second difference was, shi ite (shiyah) ideology doesn t support the monarchy or imperialism in
Islamic countries, the Iranian culture in that time were divided in their ideology in between shi ite
(Shiyah) and shahs, and the shah s regime was totally a monarchy and supported by the US and
western policy makers. This difference was also mostly liable for the Iranian revolution. The third
and last variation was, the Shi ite (Shiyah) ideologies tends to follow the shariyah,

Purpose of the Construction of Wanstead Infant Orphan Asylum in 1841
Andrew Reid was born in the year 1787. He was a Congregational minister and he was a non
conformist, which meant he was not part of the Church of England. He was very hardworking
and committed. He started 7 charities which meant he was a very generous man. His farther was
a watch maker therefore he came from a lower middle class tradesman family. His first Asylum he

So as the New Poor Law states people were extremely cruel and discriminated the undeserving
poor they said it was god who decided if you were poor or not even though the church did try to
help. For example the hymn all things bright and beautiful, includes the lines The rich man at his
castle, the poor man at his gate, God made them high or lowly, and ordered their estate . However
most people felt pity on the deserving poor an example of this was rich women that used to make
themselves look generous, in front of their rich women friends, these were the types of people that
Andrew Reid was particularly interested in and that was because they were the people that donated
the most money.
Andrew Reid put together many Asylum meetings where he would do speeches to rich people
and make them feel for the poor. An example of his speeches was one he done on the 3rd of July,
1927 at the London Tavern Let it be remembered that the case is for the infant orphan for which
charity has a yet done nothing; yet this case embraces a period of life in which innocence,
helplessness and misery are strangely commingled and most touchingly call for our aid . This
speech was truly inspirational to many people and was used just before the people choose who
they wanted to vote for using the voting system (explained in paragraph 6). Also he was respected
for the work that he did. Andrew

Observation And Requirements Gathering Of A Workout App
Observation and Requirements Gathering
Introduction
The purpose of the report is to gather beneficial information that is important to the user of a
workout app, such as features, usability, and functionalities.
Method
Five people provided interviews to gather the user observations. All five of these people enjoy
exercising on a daily basis. The group is comprised of three men and two women. All were
interviewed in person with pen and paper for data gathering. The data that was gathered was then
interpreted into needs and from that a survey was developed.
Results
The questions in Appendix A could get the most out of users because they cover all aspects of
design and they are simple. The most common feature in the app was music control. It would be
more convenient for the users to access and control their music directly in the app without having to
access their devices native music app. One particular item of interest is the fact that no one
mentioned anything about social media connectivity. Some of the features discussed were GPS
tracking, music control, workout comparison and goal metrics.

The Masque Of The Red Death
Death is inevitable in the human life cycle, so how does one attempt to avoid it? Symbolism is
defined as the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Edgar Allan Poe wrote a short story
called, The Masque of the Red Death. The majority of people believe he is referring to the black
plague that has struck the kingdom. Prince Prospero decides to let the kingdom peasants take
care of themselves while himself, knights, and chosen women isolate themselves in Prospero s
castle. A little while later, Prospero decides to throw a masquerade ball. During the ball, the red
death shows itself and kills the prince first and then everyone else that is present. Symbolism is
represented with the colors, objects, and time. Therefore, in the short story The Masque of the Red
Death by Edgar Allan Poe, symbolism is shown in the castle, with the clock, and the seven
colored rooms. Prospero, the knights, and the women use the castle as a shelter in their attempt
to escape from the red death. Poe uses Prospero s castle as a symbol as their escape from death.
After talking about Prospero s newly formed kingdom , Poe talks about Prospero s getaway by
saying, This was an extensive and magnificent structure, the creation of the prince s own eccentric
yet august taste. A strong lofty wall girdled it in (Poe, par. 2). Prospero attempted to escape death
by isolating himself and a few chosen suspects in his castle to form a new kingdom . While Poe
reveals the castle he explains its

form a video in order to grab my audience attention. In this radical adaption essay I will explain
why I choose this particular medium, if the audience changed, and the points and arguments.
First, the new medium I choose is a recruitment video to represent my original topic on Greek

George Mason University, in the new medium I made it more specific to Alpha Phi at George...

How Is Estella A Dynamic Character
In Great Expectations, a novel written by Charles Dickens, the well portrayed characters play a
big role in conveying the story s message. One of them is Estella, a girl adopted by Miss Havisham,
a rich, old lady to break men s hearts by her beauty. She also is the protagonist, Pip s love

life Estella is very well aware of her high social status, which is very evident from the way she

How Jesus Life Affected Our Lives
When we look back on Jesus life, we can see how his life affected ours. Jesus was the Messiah. He
was sent by God to do great things. Not only did he save people, but also he sacrificed himself to
for everyone s sins. I have learned many things about Jesus in Christian Worldview and even more
when reading about his life and biblical principles. We can learn how Jesuswas important through
Messianic Prophecies, Jesus Teachings, and His Miracles. We can learn how Jesus was
important through Messianic Prophecies. A prophecy that stands out comes from Isaiah 9. It
says that, The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. It also says that, For a child is
born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah prophesied that
Jesus, the child born would become their deliverer, the Messiah. In a time of great darkness,
God promised to send a light to shine on everyone living a life full of sin. It turns out that this
message came to be true, with the birth of Christ, he came to deliver. Another prophecy that is
important is the one in Isaiah 53 that talks about Jesus sacrifice for us. In verses 1 3, it talks
about how Jesus was treated like an ordinary man. He had no outward beauty or majesty, and he
was despised and rejected. Then, in verse 7, it says that he was led like a lamb to the slaughter. In
the Old Testament, people often gave

The Collapse Of The Soviet Union
The collapse of the Soviet Union can ultimately be attributed to three broad, complex, and
interconnected issues: The economy, Leadership, and Geography. All three of theses factors are
interconnected and each contain several reasons why they contributed to the ultimate collapse of
the Soviet Union. The first and most simple reason the Soviet Unionfailed can be attributed to their
geographical challenges. The Soviet Union suffered two problems in regard to geographic
challenges. Firstly the country itself was far too vast, and its influence spread too far for there
to be an easy to spread authority (Suny). With such as large state to control there was realistically
no feasible way that influence from Moscow could control a large territory from Central Asia to
Eastern Europe. This is a territory that contained various amounts of ethnicities, religions, and
cultures. In an obvious perspective larger an state gets the harder it is to be controlled.
Analytically speaking it is rather impossible to control such a territory from a central authority.
With the Soviet centrally commanded system, authority from Moscow could not be spread vastly
without a consequential use of money and resources. Secondly The Soviet Union was blessed
with an abundance of natural resources. At first glance it would be easy to view this abundance
of resources as a blessing for a powerful nation. However from a historical angle the Soviet Union
was trapped in resource curse. A resource curse being an

Summary Of ABC Series The Abbey
The Abbey
The Abbey is an ABC series that documents the events experienced by 5 women who have been
selected to live the lives of monastic nuns at The Abbey , which is Australia s first enclosed
monastery, for 33 days and nights. The nuns of the Abbey focus their lives on three main ideas
listening, silence and obedience.
The purpose of this series was to take 5 very different women who all were to some extent critical
about the existence of God and the relevance of religion in their lives.
The two women I have chosen to focus on are Robyn and Tusa as well as looking at the role that
the religious mentor to the women, Sister Hilda, played in developing these two women s personal
faith.

Hilda later explains that they encourage this silence, so that the participants can listen to the ear of
their hearts and maintain a continuous connection with God in everything they do and say during
their time at the Abbey.
Hilda accepted all the women no matter what they believed and no matter how they personally
connected themselves with God, an example of this was when Tusa couldn t understand the
relevance of religion in her life, Hilda told her It s not our religion we are trying to share with you,
we just want to share God with you .
In the final scenes of the documentary, Hilda talks about why her and the sisters live their lives
like they do and simply explains the whole purpose of the journey that the five women had just
finished, she said, People say that oh those nuns their just wasting their lives, but I honestly believe
that when me and the other sisters are praying everyday, we are making the world that much better
and we are making someone s day that much better .

Your students lack knowledge of this and teachers lack involvement in this idea. Tobacco and
drugs are something most children are around due to smoking at home or smoking with other
relatives. Teaching students the danger to the health is the key to teaching students not to
participate in smoking or drugs. The schools in your district can watch a video with the students
about the dangers, then every student can take a pledge to be tobacco and drug free . Students
could also receive a certificate saying they are tobacco and drug free. This helps students feel
special and shows them the importance of being tobacco and drug free. This would take about a
year to implement because you would have to find an appropriate video and time to show the
videos to each grade level. Also it would take time to get the certificates with each student s name

In the European level, EU are also did a lot of work trying to leading member states participate

Giant Otter Essay
Giant otter populations have suffered since the 1940s different anthropic pressures: hunting for
skins (1940 1975), gold mining (mercury contamination), deforestation, human population growth
and increased demand for fishery resource, for consumption and sale. The latter scenario, along
with processes of loss of ancestral knowledge and cultural traditions of indigenous peoples and their
entry into active participation in the market, have blunted the ancestral coexistence between
Amazonian indigenous communities and populations of giant otter.
In May this year a field trip to the Fluvial Star InГrida, transition zone between Orinoco and

Picasso Vs Goya
Pablo Picasso and Francisco JosГ© de Goya were two artists that lived in completely different
time periods and painted in very different styles. Goya painted frescos and court paintings while
picasso dabbled in cubism and surrealism. However, like most artists, they both went through
many changes and transitions throughout their lives as painters, and their desire to think outside
the box and experiment with techniques that had never been used before reveal similarities in
their work that may go unnoticed at first glance. When looking at the works of Goya and Picasso,
one would be much more likely to point out differences than similarities. Goya did a lot of frescos

Not only were they both considered modern artists, their work also took a rather unexpected turn
towards the end of their careers. Goya is considered the father of modern art. He took risks in his
paintings and decided not to paint in the classical style of the old masters from earlier centuries,
and Picasso also took many risks and painted in a very modern style. Picasso was even inspired by
Goya s work, and his painting, Massacre in Korea, was inspired by Goya s The Third of May. Not
only did they both experiment in their paintings, these artists also both went through a rough
period in their lives that had a big effect in their style of painting. Picasso s blue period reflected
his sadness after his friend s death, and all of his paintings during this time used blue and other
muted colors. Goya s black paintings, a series of fourteen pieces from his last years of life, also
reflected a negative change in his life. These paintings were much darker and more depressing than
his older paintings. The disturbing images in these paintings are thought to have been evoked from
his fear of insanity and bleak outlook on

The Disease In Lisa Genova s Still Alice
Still Alice by Lisa Genova is about a woman named Alice in her 50 s who develops early onset
Alzheimer s. The diagnosis shocks her and her whole family as she is incredibly intelligent and
so young. The novel is about the struggles of her adjusting to the new ways her mind is working
and her family trying to figure out how to interact with their changing wife/mother. It shows one
woman s progression of the disease and the way it affects how she feels, thinks, acts, and
generally changes life as she knows it. One thing I learned from Still Alice is how hereditary the
disease is. On page 88 of the novel, the doctor tells her each of her children have a 50% chance of
inheriting the mutation that causes the disease and that if you have the mutation,

This report will examine the definition and causes of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
(COPD). It will identify conditions associated with the disease and identify risk factors and
particular high risk groups. Finally, it will identify and evaluate relevant health promotion
campaigns set up to reduce the frequency and seriousness of occurrence.

A deficiency in the alpha 1 antitrypsin protein that protects the lung from other enzymes can lead to
COPD. This will usually occur in the under 35 age range.
Traditionally, COPD affected males more than females but with the increase in female smoking in
developed countries combined with the increased use of fossil fuels in the home in developing
countries, there has been an increase in females developing COPD. COPD now affects females
more than males, however when the age factor is taken into consideration then the death rate is
46% higher in males than females. The disease also affects more Caucasian people than people of
darker orientation, again with age taken into account, the death rate being 63% higher amongst
Caucasians than darker ethnicities. (Chronic obstructive pulmunary disease causes, 2012)
In a recent World Health Organisation publication (World Health Organisation, 2013) an
estimated 64 million people were suffering from COPD in 2004 and 5 million people died
worldwide due to the effects of COPD, which accounted for 5% of total world deaths in 2005. Due
to the lack of effective treatment in developing countries, almost 90% of worldwide deaths occur in
low middle income countries.
In Western Australia COPD is in the top 10 leading causes of death, accounting for 390 deaths in
2000. Around 6 8 times more indigenous Australians are

Wainwright Building
The relationship between form and function had always been the core of Sullivan s career. In his
point of view, anything, whether it is organic or inorganic, could be deemed as the representation of
its content and function, and every particular function has developed its own form. Sullivan explain
this idea by illustrating oak tree in his Kindergarten Charts, he wrote, generally speaking outer
appearances resemble inner purposes. For instances, the form, oak tree, resembles and expresses the
function or purpose, oak (Sullivan, Kindergarten chats). In here, form could be understood as
phenomenon of things, but not just the appearance. In his article, The Tall Office Building
Artistically Considered, published in 1986, Louis Sullivan... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But, actually, what Sullivan really cares about is the form. Otherwise, he would not have this much
thoughts about the relationship between form and function. Sullivan always gives high priority to
architectural form, especially its ornament, but with a kind of ambivalence in his mind. On the one
hand, he believes that architecture could be great without any decoration or ornament. On the other
hand, thoughtful designed ornament is also indispensable to architecture. Finally, he gave the
answer, he thinks particular ornament should be applied on the particular kinds of architecture, just
like different trees have various types of leaves. So, architectural form is not influenced by the
extrinsic factor, but the growth of itself. Now it is understandable why Wainwright Building got
such a luxuriant ornament on its top. Under the eave, the surface between windows are extended,
and sophisticated spiraled leaves surrounds the circular windows. It is just the metaphor of the

The consequences of an act affect the probability of its occurring again. B. F. Skinner. Chance is
what separates the optimists from the pessimists. An optimist will take chance and do everything
they can to manipulate the odds to be in favor of their point. A pessimist will see chance as an

genes has roughly a five percent chance of becoming defective. This would cause a genetic disease

Reaction Rate Of Reaction
Background: A clock reaction generally involves a mixture of solutions that, after a certain amount
of time, displays a sudden colour change. This process demonstrates chemical kinetics in action,
which is the study of chemical processes and rates of reaction where the reaction rate is the speed
at which the chemical reactionproceeds. It is dependent on several factors that rely on one basic
underlying principle called collision theory. In order for a reaction to occur, the reactant molecules
must collide with each other with a certain minimum energy called the activation energy to break
and form the appropriate bonds as well as have the correct orientation when colliding. If the
favourable amount of collisions increase, then the rate of the reaction would increase. However, if
the reactant particles do not collide frequently or collide with less energy than the activation energy,
they bounce apart and the reaction would then proceed slowly or not at all. Concentration is one of
the factors that affects reaction rate. Raising the concentration of the reactants, alters the number of
particles per unit volume. Thus the more molecules present in a given volume, the greater the
probability of them colliding. If they have energies equal to or greater than the activation energy, a
higher concentration would therefore result in an increase in the reaction rate. The opposite is true
if there is a lower concentration of reactant molecules.
The relationship between rate and

Dynamic Equilibrium and Le Chatelier’s Principle
Experiment No. 2: Dynamic Equilibrium and Le Chatelier s PrincipleDecember 1, 2011 Final
Formal Results Le Chatelier s Principle states that when a stress is applied to a chemical system at
equilibrium, the equilibrium shifts in a direction that reduces the effect of stress (Gross, Abenojar,
and Tan 23). Moreover, it helps us predict the direction of the shift of the equilibrium (Silberberg
745). Silberberg also stated that there are three kinds of disturbances concentration, pressure, and
temperature that can be applied to a system at equilibrium. However, only concentration and
temperature were observed in this experiment. Part 1: Cobalt Complexes Table 1 shows the color
change of the cobalt chloride solutions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mixing the colors red and blue produced the magenta colored solution. The reaction above is
classified as endothermic while its reverse is exothermic. Increasing the temperature caused the
equilibrium to shift to the right resulting to a darker color while decreasing the temperature causes
the equilibrium to shift to the left resulting to a lighter color. Conclusions Le Chatelier s Principle
states that when a stress is applied to a chemical system at equilibrium, the equilibrium shifts in a
direction that reduces the effect of stress (Gross, Abenojar, and Tan 23). The principle was seen in
this experiment; as a stress in this case concentration and temperature is applied to the system, a
shift in the equilibrium was observed. The principle also helped in determining the direction of the
shift of the equilibrium. Increasing the reactants or decreasing the products causes the equilibrium
to shift to the right and vice versa (Silberberg 746). On the other hand, increasing the temperature
favors the endothermic direction while decreasing the temperature favors the exothermic direction
(Silberberg 750). Answers to Questions 1.How does one know when a reaction is at equilibrium?
A reaction is at equilibrium when the rates of the forward and the reverse reactions are equal
(Ladon). Reactants react to form products and

Study on African American Youth and Young Adults with...
This paper proposes to address the psychological needs, behavioral factors, social factors
surrounding a stratified sample of African American youth and young adults with incarcerated
fathers. In doing so, assessment measures possessing test retest reliability to assess subjects mental
health conditions, stress related behavior, socioeconomic status, and interpersonal relationships.
Incarcerated fathers who are imprisoned for non violent crimes and are opened to reconcile and/or
improve their relationship with their children. Sample will be drawn from a non profit
organization geared toward keeping imprisoned fathers in the Federal Bureau of Prisons and have
had some communication with their children via pre paid phone calls and Corrlinks (an electronic
mail system in the FBOP prisoners and their families). Mothers or caretakers will be encouraged to
participate in the proposed intervention programs.
Introduction
Studies have shown that children of incarcerated mothers experience more mental health issues as
well as disruptions in their life because, more than likely, the mother was the primary caregiver prior
to incarceration. Therefore, more programs for reuniting children with their mothers have been
implemented yet the long time/short term effects of such programs remain unclear. Additionally,
given the effects of maternal incarceration tend to cause more disruption of the lives of youths, an
examination addressing reconciling relationships between

Photo Editing Analysis
I know my audience very well in New Mexico and some areas in Arizona, as for the rest of the
world, no, I have no idea. Just getting my work shown in New Mexico will keep me busy for a
while and until I graduate I do not have the time to find out.
My method of editing is very light, I try not to crop, this is why I take 30 to 40 photographs on
one subject matter and I keep the original raw photograph in a file. I have to edit my photographs
in Photoshop because I take my photographs in color, just for that reason, some people like color
better, I have to add contrast to achieve the depth in my black and white photographs.

Good to know.
When they talked about gallery presentation I have found that the gallery are the ones who say
what they want as to horizontal or vertical, and for a photographic series they keep the collection
together. I will always present my work in a professional manner with matte, non glare glass and
black frames that allows for a symmetrical presentation with clean lines throughout.
Editing for Print Publication
In this part of the module on editing for print publication magazines the images are rectangular and
vertically oriented and I am aware that some magazines like both. However, I am sure the
magazine will let the photographer know what they want or what is in the contract as regards to
editing a photographs photograph.
This is something new I learned, when dealing with spread images nothing important should be in
the center where the fold is, photographs in which the important details are off center and to the
side work best for spreads.

Open Supplier Network
Introduction
Founded in 1999, Perfect Commerce provides buyers and suppliers the opportunity to make
transactions electronically by applying On Demand spend management solutions. With over 500
clients, 200,000 users, and 11,500 suppliers, the company ranks as the leading On Demand SRM
solutions provider (Anonymous 2007C). Clients come from an extremely wide range of industries:
chemicals, retail, energy, financial services, food products, healthcare, hospitality, manufacturing,
technology, and transportation (Anonymous 2007D).
Perfect Commerce relies heavily on acquisitions and business partnerships to accelerate growth.
Most recently, the company purchased Commerce One, one of the pioneering companies in e

While the business may appear to be growing, because of other companies being purchased, overall
performance of the company may be falling, but it may not be evident from the financial statements.
Because The OSN is an ON Demand computing model, there is always a risk that the system
could be down. Should this occur, clients and suppliers alike would be unable to gain access to
the network. Also, it is very difficult to find information regarding post 2005 developments in
The OSN (with the exception of Commerce One being acquired in early 2006). As a result, it is
possible that the software reached its peak in 2005. Should this be true, it is unlikely that Perfect
Commerce is adding new suppliers to the network, and therefore, clients are not getting the entire
array of options when looking for products. However, as stated earlier, this idea stems only from
the fact that information is not readily available for developments after 2005.
Opportunities
With just over 500 clients, the company has plenty of room to increase its customer base. With its
long list of highly esteemed partners, it would appear that the company has considerable growth
potential. While there may not be extensive evidence that Perfect Commerce has taken advantage
of this potential, the opportunity still exists. Also, if The OSN can continue to build its catalogue
of SKUs, which seems feasible as new suppliers are emerging each year, more and more companies
will gain

company s future profits. Thus, share price increases from 0.17 to 24.22 times as more
shareholders invested in it but in 2014 2013, it decreases to 18.56 as the shareholders are making a
loss in the NAV ratio, thus pulling out their investment.
NAV Ratio (Net Asset Value Per Share)
2012: 0.38
2013: 0.70
2014: 0.90
The NAV ratio is drastically decreasing over the years, showing that the company is slowly
becoming more undervalued in 2013 to 2014. This shows that the shareholders are not earning their
investment.
CONCLUSION
Due to Far East Orchid s declining profitability, the company turns to increasing its gearing ratio to
fund its financial and operational needs. This excessive increase in current assets results in the
company being too liquid, and its extreme increase of selling inventory caused its quick ratio to
drop below the recommended level. The inconsistent inventory turnover shows inefficiency in
managing their assets. And finally, this causes the company to be undervalued.
As seen from the above ratios, our recommendation would be not to invest in this company, as it is
not only making a loss of profits, but also going into debt to solve its low profit

Essay about Madisonian Majorities
Since time began, it has always been human nature for man to compete and win. Just like when it
comes to majorities and minorities, majorities tend to overpower minorities. Guinier makes a great
point when she brings up, Madisonian Majorities, which are minorities working with the majority
to achieve a solution. By working in this format, we could achieve so much more in much peaceful
ways. Madisonian majorities could be best applied to a democracy, because both the majority and
minority can work together to satisfy the needs of its citizens. Madisonian Majorities helped shape
countless laws that many Americans benefit from today, including the architecture of our
government. Therefore, Madisonian Majorities are vital to a democratic... Show more content on

This compromise was a true defeat of the tyranny America was living under before the revolution.
Guinier points out what one colonist said, We have been so long habituated to a jealousy of
tyranny from monarchy and aristocracy, that we have yet to learn the danger of it from democracy
(888). America overcame the tyranny of the majority, by coming up with the Great Compromise
and by working with the minority. As a result of the Great Compromise, Democracy was born in
the western world because of a Madisonian Majority. America graciously missed the danger
thanks to this compromise. Many people say that it is our human nature to fight, known by many
as survival of the fittest. However, approaching issues in a Madisonian Majority style, would be a
much more civilized and intellectual way of resolving our issues. In school and in many textbooks
we are taught that a democracy is a form of government in which the people rule by popular
sovereignty. The people elect representatives to satisfy their political and economic needs.
However, this definition of democracy wasn t always true. Into the first one hundred years of our
government, only white property owning men could vote and have a say in our government. They
were the majority, and the minority was composed of ethnic groups and women. It wasn t until the
passing of the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments that the minority had a greater voice in

Why Prefab Is A Q A With Lane Office Ceo Gregory F. Burke
Why Prefab? A Q A with Lane Office CEO Gregory F. Burke
Last month we featured an article that spoke of the benefits of prefabrication constructions in
interior design. In today s fast paced society, time is of the essence. Using prefabricated interior
solutions are an excellent alternative to conventional construction methods, as they make the
construction process quicker, more flexible and more efficient, as well as help cut down production
costs.
Learn more about prefabrication and its benefits with Lane Office CEO Gregory F. Burke, who
recently sat down to reflect on past projects, the future of prefabricated design, and answer some of
prefabrication s most commonly asked questions.
Q: What are some of the benefits of going prefab, especially in New York City?
A: Let s put it this way. New York City is about how much? and how fast? This is Number 1, and a
faster speed of construction is key. With prefab, we can construct interior spaces in a matter of days
instead of months. What does this mean for the client? It means a cleaner construction process,
which translates to fewer disruptions, less time and decreased cost. Number 2, from a green
standpoint, every day we re getting closer to net zero manufacturing at the factory level. On site,
DIRTT s solutions never need to find their way to a landfill or recycling facility due to innate

Analysis Of The Water Related Adaptation Interventions For...
At the community level, from my observation in work, I recognized that the local communities
have the best capability to adapt with the adverse impacts. People had managed to protect their
livelihood resources such as cropping fields, ponds, aquaculture farms and domestic facilities. For
example, in the early rainy season, some focal groups of local residents are formed. These groups
are responsible for monitoring the water levels and protecting proactively the irrigationfacilities and
the critical areas of dykes. In order to cope with inundation, local residents have to work together to
dredge the small channels and to upgrade the paddy field embankments when they get the heavy
rain forecast. They have stored fresh water and changed in their water use to cope with potential
floods, storm, inundation and drought.
In short, the water related adaptation interventions in Thai Binh province focuses on upgrading
hard facilities in irrigation and water supply systems; capacity building programs; afforestation in
coastal zones and developing the local communities respond effectively to climate change. iii.

Over that last decade Area 51 has also come to be associated with UFO s. There were stories that

government physicist and had been assigned to work in a secret underground base, designated S4 ,
that was about
15 miles south of Groom Lake at a place called Papoose Lake. (This is just north of Yucca and
Frenchman

Fire Department History
Tom Tagliareni Spring 2016 English Comp. 2 Professor Merrill History of the Fire Service
When you hear the words Fire Department what do you think of? For most people the first thing
that comes to mind is a big red truck with flashing lights and loud sirens and horns. Or people in
bunker gear, helmets and air packs carrying axes and hoses. But it was not always that way. In
the beginning it was nowhere near how it is today. Fire Fighting is defined as the action or
process of extinguishing fires . The first fire department was created in 24 B.C. by Roman
emperor Augustus Caesar. It was made up of slaves that were positioned around the city. This was
not a very good department because the slaves didn t care about the properties and... Show more

in fiberglass. Or they are made of a composite material such as carbon fiber. Today s SCBA packs
have pass alarms or personal alert safety systems built in. Which is an alarm that goes off if you
don t move for 30 seconds or if you press the button. It allows other firefighters to find you if you
go down. The packs also have lights on them that blank to make it easier to spot a firefighter
while they are working. There is a gauge on the strap that shows you your air level and a built in
alarm starts ringing when you have 10 minutes of air left so you know when you need to start
getting out of the building. Newer models also have a built in TIC or Thermal Imaging Camera
and a heads up display in the mask that shows you your air

Not All Dreams
Not All Dreams
The sudden sound of soft sobs awakened me from my slumber. Slithering my way out of bed, I
sauntered over to the formal dining room of our house. Creeping from behind the door, I tuned in to
the conversation that was taking place.
It s March 19th, he s out of time to turn the weapons in, My mother stated whilst she took down the
last hanging painting in our house, with tears rolling down her cheeks, her eyes red and her nose
stuffy from all the crying she s been doing all week. We re getting invaded.
Hey, we ll be fine, my dad countered We re all stocked up on food and water, we had a guy come

Mama, I can t sleep. I managed to choke out between heavy breaths and weeping eyes.
Noor, put on the headphones and close your eyes, my sister, Basma, responded as she attempted
to wipe my tear stained cheeks. That s what Mohammed and I are doing and the electricity is cut
off anyway so we might as well get some sleep before we leave in the morning.
Our small town of Al Yarmouk had been threatened as the troops were approaching. My father had
decided that it would be best for us to depart from our house and head to his family home on the
other side of the Tigris River. In the early hours of the morning we packed up the car and locked
the doors. My mother collected all of our gold jewelry and put them in a small black box. I saw
my mom dig the box in the dirt of our garden. I was puzzled as to why she chose to hide the gold
outside, but didn t think too much of it at the time. I wore my blue noise blocking headphones
everywhere. They were far too large for my head, but I was four and I thought that not hearing the
gunshots, helicopters, and explosions meant that life was still normal. The journey to my father s
family house was a bizarre experience. Glancing over to the window I was stunned, startled, and
surprised by the sight ahead of me. Prisoners who had escaped from the Abu Ghraib prison had

How to Gain the Most from the Media in Our Lives Essay
Media has always been an important factor in society, and it always will be. The way an
individual discerns the world dictates how they interact with it, but the dichotomy between media
and society goes both ways. People perceive media differently based on experiences in their lives,
within each decade a shift in norms, trends and technology is observable. Jerzy Kosinskiuses a
character that perceives society based on televisionalone to depict the way media affects an
individuals perceptionand how they interact with society. Television , from its dawn has been an
ever changing medium all across the world. In Being There television is a standard form of

Jerzy Kosinski had seen the evolution of of these changes, perhaps the largest change was when
more trials and tribulations of reality were beginning to be aired. Chances lack of exposure to

becomes the watched. While this novel is by no means a subversion of the media or an attack on

The Film I Will Be Evaluating A Sprawling Two Part Sex...
The film I will be evaluating is Nymphomaniac a sprawling two part sex drama that blurs the line
between art and porn. It follows a sex addict named Joe as she s found battered in an alleyway by
an older bachelor named Seligman. In explaining how she came to be in such a condition,
flashback scenes unfold in chapters introduced by snapping witty dialogue between Joe and
Seligman. It begins with Joe throughout her teenage years, when she first begins to discover her
insatiable sexual appetite. Then through her adult life as she is pushed out of normal society. The
film whips through a wide range of topics, such as genderrole conformity, consent, and, metal
dysfunction.
To begin with Joe is a self described nymphomaniac, which is a former term for excessive sexual
desire in a woman, which may lead to promiscuous sexual behavior. Most psychologists have
argued against the use of the term for year it s an antiquated and demeaning word used to
denigrate sexual women. It is not a medical or psychiatric diagnosis. Her correct diagnosis is
hypersexuality, which can apply to anyone, is not a true mental disorder, but a symptom of a
much larger problem. I like the title and think it was a fascinating and intentional plot related
choice by Von trier, for this reason that Joe does display other issues like low self esteem,
loneliness, and, attachment avoidance. I like the title it made me think about how we use words.
Furthermore, this movie is touted as a pro feminist love

Censorship In The Social Media Age
Censorship that has been in the world and in the United States, since the fifteenth century, has
grown sufficiently. Since many years have past subsequently film, radio, and different platforms of
social media have all been censored because more and more technology is not appropriate for kids.
Although many people think that censorshiphas changed the media platforms, it s actually the other
way around. Media platforms have changed censorship throughout the years by switching up social
media, news, government, and privacy concepts.
Social media has shaped censorship over the years by introducing new applications to our
phones and computers. One event that has shaped it was in 2016, when Dan Ilic s video was
taken down from a social media site a few second after Mr. Ilic posted it, the video had already
been on that same social media site in 2011 and was not taken down till then. Gourarie wrote this
article called Censorship in the Social Media Age which explains the events of Dan Ilic s video.
The video titled Is Labiaplasty the new fad? ... soon after clicking post the author received a
notice from the social media site that the video was removed and he was banned from logging in
for 24 hours. (Gourarie). This quote from Gourarie supports the claim by stating that the video was
put up, however, then taken down due to censoring people from the title.
Another time the internet web browsers have shaped the way the people see censorship is when the

  • 2. Water Pollution And Its Effects On The Environment Water covers almost 75% of the earth s surface and is undoubtedly our most precious natural resource that exists on our planet today. There won t be any living organism on our planet without water. Water Pollution occurs when a body of water is severely affected due to addition of large amount of materials to the water.[Missouri Botanical Garden] Pollutions such as sewage and fertilizers contain nutrients such as nitrates and phosphates. At high levels, nutrients can over stimulate the growth of aquatic plants and algae. Excessive growth of these types of organisms consequently clogs our waterways, use up dissolved oxygenas they decompose, and block light to deeper waters.[David Krantz] This could be very harmful to aquatic organisms as it affects the respiration ability of fish and other creatures of the sea. Pollution is also caused when silt and other suspended solids, such as soil, washoff plowed fields, construction and logging sites, urban areas, and eroded river banks when it rains.[David Krantz] Pollution in the form of organic material enters waterways in many different forms as sewage, as leaves and grass clippings, or as runoff from livestock feedlots and pastures. When natural bacteria and protozoan in the water break down this organic material, they begin to use up the oxygen dissolved in the water. Many types of fish and bottom dwelling animals cannot survive when levels of dissolved oxygen drop below two to five parts per million. When this occurs, it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The, By Vilhelm Moberg Willie, a mere boy, swelled with superiority as he contemplated the hilarity of those silly old folks, fooled by an owl and believing in ghosts.4 The belief in the Sinkhole spГ¶ke possibly lived on beyond the sighting of the owl, as old timers recalled stories of jГ¶tunn, the ancient Norse race of giants, with their powers of shape changing and their inclination for trickery. If they could change into wolves, as they did in the Norse tales, they certainly could transform into an owl.5 In his two volume history of the Swedish people, the eminent writer Vilhelm Moberg, relates that during his childhood in SmГҐland, an isolated and backward province, he met elders that not only believed in fairies, but actually saw them.6 Willie probably encountered similar mind sets, since his birth occurred seven year prior to Vilhelm Moberg s and numerous people from SmГҐland immigrated to east central Minnesota.7 Willie normally concluded the telling of the Sinkhole spГ¶ke tale with a prideful proclamation, My generation was the first modern generation. My generation was the first not to believe in that stuff. 8 Egged on by the allure of the Sinkhole spГ¶ke tales and not willing to be a passive bystander, Willie stepped into the scene alongside the spГ¶ke and attempted to harass and frighten the gullible adults. After capturing fireflies and coated his thumbnails with their natural luminescent substance, he lurked on the edge of the Sinkhole road waiting for unsuspecting travelers. ... • 4. Analysis Of The Swimmer By John Cheever John Cheever s writing always reflected his own life in some aspect. In one work he has called Expelled He tells the story of how he did get expelled from school in detail. In some way Cheever interprets his own personal experiences into the characters of his stories. In one specific short story, The Swimmer, Cheever uses the the character Ned s experience to symbolize life. Although it is a short story, the essence of time in the work is directly related to an entire lifetime. Through the course of the story there are different emotions represented by the changing of seasons, colors, temperature, nature, and also people. In The Swimmer . Ned s experience directly correlates to John Cheevers idea of life. The Swimmer follows the character Ned through his attempt to swim the county as he swims across multiple families pools. He does this and also speaks with many people at the houses parties and also drinks throughout the journey. Ned experiences different and fatigued emotions as well as physical fatigue. It is midsummer as this journey takes place and the seasons begin to change from summer to autumn. At the end of his journey he reaches his home which turns out to be empty. Specifically when Ned was wet from swimming he sensed a storm coming and took shelter in a gazebo. It is in this instance that he realizes the change of the seasons. Leading Shiite Ideologies, Questions and Answers Questions: Briefly identify the main features of the 3 main variations among the leading Shiite ideologies with regard to Iranian culture and the Shah s regime? What were the main issues Ayatollah Khomeini had with the Shah s regime? Answer: The Iranian revolution was an ideological affair. With different visions for the future of Iran, the revolutionaries were united for toppling the monarchy, which they had substantially. All the visions of these revolutionary, however, were colored by ideology. Ayatollah Khomeini was the leader of that Iranian revolution against the shah. Khomeini marched with Shi ite (Shiyah) Ideology to denounce the Shahs and created a negative impression among the Iranian People against the Shah s regime. The Shi ite Ideologies were based on Islamic shariah, The Iranian culture was based on Islamic culture with an increasing influence of western culture and the shah s regime was friendly with the western culture policies and mostly against the Shi ite Islamic fundamentalism. However most people felt pity on the deserving poor an example of this was rich women that used to make themselves look generous, in front of their rich women friends, these were the types of people that Andrew Reid was particularly interested in and that was because they were the people that donated the most money. An example of his speeches was one he done on the 3rd of July, 1927 at the London Tavern Let it be remembered that the case is for the infant orphan for which charity has a yet done nothing; yet this case embraces a period of life in which innocence, helplessness and misery are strangely commingled and most touchingly call for our aid . • 12. The Masque Of The Red Death Death is inevitable in the human life cycle, so how does one attempt to avoid it? Symbolism is defined as the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. Edgar Allan Poe wrote a short story called, The Masque of the Red Death. The majority of people believe he is referring to the black plague that has struck the kingdom. Prince Prospero decides to let the kingdom peasants take care of themselves while himself, knights, and chosen women isolate themselves in Prospero s castle. A little while later, Prospero decides to throw a masquerade ball. During the ball, the red death shows itself and kills the prince first and then everyone else that is present. Symbolism is represented with the colors, objects, and time. Therefore, in the short story The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe, symbolism is shown in the castle, with the clock, and the seven colored rooms. Prospero, the knights, and the women use the castle as a shelter in their attempt to escape from the red death. Poe uses Prospero s castle as a symbol as their escape from death. After talking about Prospero s newly formed kingdom , Poe talks about Prospero s getaway by saying, This was an extensive and magnificent structure, the creation of the prince s own eccentric yet august taste. A strong lofty wall girdled it in (Poe, par. 2). Prospero attempted to escape death by isolating himself and a few chosen suspects in his castle to form a new kingdom . Not only did he save people, but also he sacrificed himself to for everyone s sins. I have learned many things about Jesus in Christian Worldview and even more when reading about his life and biblical principles. We can learn how Jesuswas important through Messianic Prophecies, Jesus Teachings, and His Miracles. We can learn how Jesus was important through Messianic Prophecies. A prophecy that stands out comes from Isaiah 9. It says that, The people who walk in darkness will see a great light. It also says that, For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah prophesied that Jesus, the child born would become their deliverer, the Messiah. In a time of great darkness, God promised to send a light to shine on everyone living a life full of sin. It turns out that this message came to be true, with the birth of Christ, he came to deliver. Another prophecy that is important is the one in Isaiah 53 that talks about Jesus sacrifice for us. In verses 1 3, it talks about how Jesus was treated like an ordinary man. He had no outward beauty or majesty, and he was despised and rejected. Then, in verse 7, it says that he was led like a lamb to the slaughter. In the Old Testament, people often gave ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Collapse Of The Soviet Union The collapse of the Soviet Union can ultimately be attributed to three broad, complex, and interconnected issues: The economy, Leadership, and Geography. All three of theses factors are interconnected and each contain several reasons why they contributed to the ultimate collapse of the Soviet Union. The first and most simple reason the Soviet Unionfailed can be attributed to their geographical challenges. The Soviet Union suffered two problems in regard to geographic challenges. Firstly the country itself was far too vast, and its influence spread too far for there to be an easy to spread authority (Suny). With such as large state to control there was realistically no feasible way that influence from Moscow could control a large territory from Central Asia to Eastern Europe. This is a territory that contained various amounts of ethnicities, religions, and cultures. In an obvious perspective larger an state gets the harder it is to be controlled. Analytically speaking it is rather impossible to control such a territory from a central authority. With the Soviet centrally commanded system, authority from Moscow could not be spread vastly without a consequential use of money and resources. Secondly The Soviet Union was blessed with an abundance of natural resources. At first glance it would be easy to view this abundance of resources as a blessing for a powerful nation. However from a historical angle the Soviet Union was trapped in resource curse. A resource curse being an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Reaction Rate Of Reaction Background: A clock reaction generally involves a mixture of solutions that, after a certain amount of time, displays a sudden colour change. This process demonstrates chemical kinetics in action, which is the study of chemical processes and rates of reaction where the reaction rate is the speed at which the chemical reactionproceeds. It is dependent on several factors that rely on one basic underlying principle called collision theory. In order for a reaction to occur, the reactant molecules must collide with each other with a certain minimum energy called the activation energy to break and form the appropriate bonds as well as have the correct orientation when colliding. If the favourable amount of collisions increase, then the rate of the reaction would increase. However, if the reactant particles do not collide frequently or collide with less energy than the activation energy, they bounce apart and the reaction would then proceed slowly or not at all. Concentration is one of the factors that affects reaction rate. Raising the concentration of the reactants, alters the number of particles per unit volume. Thus the more molecules present in a given volume, the greater the probability of them colliding. If they have energies equal to or greater than the activation energy, a higher concentration would therefore result in an increase in the reaction rate. The opposite is true if there is a lower concentration of reactant molecules. The relationship between rate and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moreover, it helps us predict the direction of the shift of the equilibrium (Silberberg 745). Conclusions Le Chatelier s Principle states that when a stress is applied to a chemical system at equilibrium, the equilibrium shifts in a direction that reduces the effect of stress (Gross, Abenojar, and Tan 23). The principle was seen in this experiment; as a stress in this case concentration and temperature is applied to the system, a shift in the equilibrium was observed. The principle also helped in determining the direction of the shift of the equilibrium. Increasing the reactants or decreasing the products causes the equilibrium to shift to the right and vice versa (Silberberg 746). On the other hand, increasing the temperature favors the endothermic direction while decreasing the temperature favors the exothermic direction (Silberberg 750). My method of editing is very light, I try not to crop, this is why I take 30 to 40 photographs on one subject matter and I keep the original raw photograph in a file. I have to edit my photographs in Photoshop because I take my photographs in color, just for that reason, some people like color better, I have to add contrast to achieve the depth in my black and white photographs. While the business may appear to be growing, because of other companies being purchased, overall performance of the company may be falling, but it may not be evident from the financial statements. Because The OSN is an ON Demand computing model, there is always a risk that the system could be down. Should this occur, clients and suppliers alike would be unable to gain access to the network. Also, it is very difficult to find information regarding post 2005 developments in The OSN (with the exception of Commerce One being acquired in early 2006). As a result, it is possible that the software reached its peak in 2005. Should this be true, it is unlikely that Perfect Commerce is adding new suppliers to the network, and therefore, clients are not getting the entire array of options when looking for products. However, as stated earlier, this idea stems only from the fact that information is not readily available for developments after 2005. Opportunities With just over 500 clients, the company has plenty of room to increase its customer base. With its long list of highly esteemed partners, it would appear that the company has considerable growth potential. While there may not be extensive evidence that Perfect Commerce has taken advantage of this potential, the opportunity still exists. By working in this format, we could achieve so much more in much peaceful ways. Madisonian majorities could be best applied to a democracy, because both the majority and minority can work together to satisfy the needs of its citizens. America overcame the tyranny of the majority, by coming up with the Great Compromise and by working with the minority. As a result of the Great Compromise, Democracy was born in the western world because of a Madisonian Majority. America graciously missed the danger thanks to this compromise. At the community level, from my observation in work, I recognized that the local communities have the best capability to adapt with the adverse impacts. People had managed to protect their livelihood resources such as cropping fields, ponds, aquaculture farms and domestic facilities. For example, in the early rainy season, some focal groups of local residents are formed. These groups are responsible for monitoring the water levels and protecting proactively the irrigationfacilities and the critical areas of dykes. In order to cope with inundation, local residents have to work together to dredge the small channels and to upgrade the paddy field embankments when they get the heavy rain forecast. They have stored fresh water and changed in their water use to cope with potential floods, storm, inundation and drought.
