Edward Kennedy Ellington s Soda Fountain Rag
Edward Kennedy Ellington (known as Duke Ellington ) was a famous American pianist and
bandleader of an jazz orchestra. He was a major figure in the Jazz industry which he composed an
array of songs for both onstage, screen, and song albums for more than half a century.
One of the most exclusive tones in Western music to what is called American Jazz . His music career
started when he was just 7 years old where he began to study on how to play the piano and then earned
his unique nickname Duke for his manly like ways. His first composition, Soda Fountain Rag while he
worked as a Soda Jerk in a local store. Ellington dropped out of Highschool at that time but was
passionate enough to pursue his career in ragtime. Despite that, Ellington followed his passion into
ragtime and already began playing at the age of 17, his first ever professional band was the
Washingtonians . Ellington thought that jazz was old and boring thinking that it might not make
people to the point that jazz is outdated and not exciting as it was. Ellington seeked many famous
musicians with very distinct playing styles such as Bubber Miley who had a ... Show more content on

Still remaining as one of the top most influential jazz artist if it wasn t for all the American Jazz which
was widely reviewed as one of the African American characteristics around that time. He gave Jazz its
own Musical vibe in the first time. Ellington was famously remembered for many different songs that
he composed over the course of his life. One of his amazing parts about Duke Ellington in fact that he
is creative most of the time on the road more than off stage because he could look upon the blue sky or
into the shadowy night while composing one of his great songs. During that time he wrote his famous
piece Mood Indigo while on a road trip at night for his tour across

Richard Linklater s Childhood
The memories of childhood development stick to the minds of many people for long periods whereas,
people can recall many moments from their childhood lives, but don t possess the cognitive ability to
link them together.in this sense, Boyhood is an American film depicting the growth of a young boy,
Mason Evans Jr from the age of 6 to 18 years. The film was written and directed by Richard Linklater,
who took approximately 12 years to complete the task of composing the film. Hence, its writing and
composition started in 2002 and ended in 2014, where Linklater aimed at explaining the transitional
stage from childhood to adulthood. The American modernization has been portrayed in the Boyhood
film where objects, events, themes, and institutions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film took Linklater over 12 years to compose until it became useful in 2014when it was released.
Oakley compares Boyhood with the television series Seven Up (Almond 1964), which traces the lives
of a set of people who were interviewed first at age seven; and seven consecutive years after. Thus,
this illustrates the growth and maturation of each cast members over the 12 year period of producing
this film. In the different scenes of the film, the American modern ways of living have been explained
using the real life experience of Mason. The new modern ways of life include love for guitar, dates,
substance abuse, mobile phones, automobiles, video games, a passion for photography, family life and
school. The film discusses different trajectories of emotional and cognitive development that people
undergo thus determining their personalities. It explains the different experiences that one faces while
interacting with different people such as parents, friends, and siblings. According to Oatley, the way
modern people life is interesting as they can have unity and create a scheme of love and
belongingness. However, Mason is presented as a cheerful and temperamental child in the film. Each

Truths In The Canterbury Tales
The author of the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer, does try to show a world where everything is
how it truly is and not as something that is fake. Throughout the story of The Wife of Bath he shows
that knights should have a chivalry to uphold and should work hard to keep it. He also shows that
everyday things that can be horrible end up happening in real life. Many times he also mentions
religion and how it affects how some people are in the work of religion. Chivalry to uphold is a main
part of the reason many knights had their place in society. They have a code of conduct in which they
live by and they swear an oath to it. Many knights would swear to the oath but will break it if their
loyalty wasn t in the right place. When getting this oath taken, the main thing knights will swear on is
to lay their life on the line for the royal family and their home land. Chaucer shows in The Wife of
Bath where a knight does go back on his word but does end up following King Arthur s word when his
wife gives the knight a punishment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is that many women, and men for that matter, go through rape. Everyday someone goes
through rape and it was the same back then in that era. Along with the horrid truths there was also
murders. Whenever someone either felt jealous or thought someone was going to take their treasure

treasure underneath a tree and all three decide it s a fabulous idea to murder to keep the treasure for
themselves. Murder also happens everyday in this era as

Elements Of Field Programmable Gate Arrays
CHAPTER 1 1 INTRODUCTION For the past decades, scientific computation has been a popular
research tool among scientists and engineers from numerous areas, including climate modelling,
computational chemistry, and bioinformatics .With the maturing of application algorithms, developing
high performance computing platforms that satisfy the increasing computational demands, search
spaces, and data volume have become a huge challenge. As predicted by Moore s law .faster and faster
computers are built to provide more processing power every year. Apparently, speeding up the
computation serially alone is no longer enough. In 1967 Amdahl presented a model to estimate the

Various representation systems were introduced to represent signed integer numbers, including signed
magnitude, biased, and complement systems .Both the signed and unsigned integer representations can
be extended to encode fractional data by employing an implicit or explicit radix point that denotes the
scaling factor. These integer based real number representations are generally called fixed point
systems, where the term fixed point implies that the scaling factor is constant during the computation
without externally reconfigured. As a result, the precision (least represent able value of the unit in the
last place, for a fixed point number system cannot be improved without sacrificing its represent able
value range. Floating point representation on the other hand provides not only the ability for wide
dynamic range support, but also high precision for small values. A typical floating point number is
represented in four components, and its value can be calculated with the equation. x = ± s × be, where
s is the significant and e is the biased exponent (with implicit bias). The standard precision of

Snows Of Kilimanjaro Analysis
Angelica Sawan Professor North October 23, 2017 SLD Packet 2 Summary: The Snows of
Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway is a tale of a man named Harry and his Wife Helen who are on a
safari trip, and while on it Harry catches gangrene because he doesn t put ointment on a cut he
received from a thorn while taking a photo of a water buck. Throughout the story Harry is a Negative
Nancy, arguing with his wife and being blunt about how he is going to die before a rescue team can
get to them. For example, Harry and Helen argue about whether he should drink a whisky and soda,
whether she should read to him, and about how he is going to die. Harry thinks about his life
experiences a lot in this short story, about how he hasn t lived up to his potential as a writer because he
has a tendency to marry rich women. Harry also goes in and out of consciousness while remembering
his life adventures. His wife Helen does care for Harry and she does enjoy his writing, but she is
obviously concerned about his health and his self pity irritates her. Harry mentions that Helen is really
a good wife and does not keep him as a proud possession and how she doesn t neglect his true talent,
which is writing. We also find out that Helen is a widow who was bored of the lovers before Harry
and they married because of her enjoyment of his writing and how they have similar interests. At the
end of the story Helen wakes up because of a loud hyena call, she takes a flashlight and shines it on
Harry s bed which she moved into their tent earlier that night. She sees him under the mosquito net
with his leg hanging off of the cot and notices that Harry is dead. The hyena cries again but Helen can
t hear it over her heart breaking. Formal: Tender Buttons by Gertrude Stein is a collection of writings
about ordinary objects, and is divided into objects, food, and rooms. She uses random objects with
random adjectives, and she uses language to direct the mind and force the reader to connect nouns
with unsuspecting adjectives to make you look at the world in a new way. It s a pros poem, it s a
cubist poem. She tries to break apart logic. The theme is giving new meaning to ordinary objects, she
wants us to think, she uses a lot of literary devices.

The Second Amendment And The Fourth Amendment
Since the time the framers of the constitution, technology has improved significantly which has led to
an increasing concern in the privacy of an individual. Technology, used by government agencies and
commercial enterprises, has led to a change in one s privacy and freedom. For this reason, the
agencies and enterprises have been called into question of infringement of the fourth. Using the
lessons learned from history, the framers of the constitutions created the fourth amendment, which
protects from unreasonable searches, and the fifth amendment, which prevents a person from
incriminating himself or herself, to create a government with just laws, but with the advancement in
technology, the fourth amendment needs to expand its policies to fit the changes in modern society.
Drawing from lessons of history, the framers created the Fifth Amendment which protects an accused
person from self incrimination, and punishment without due process of law (Edwards, Wattenberg,
Lineberry, 2006). The framers had in mind the oath de veritae dicenda In twelve thirteen, Pope
Innocent III created a council that led trials of crimes. An accused had to swear the oath, which was to
answer all questions truthfully, when in front of the council. If the person refused, the person was said
to be guilty, and if the person pleaded not guilty he was convicted of perjury. In top of all of this, the
council would threaten eternal damnation if the person did not take the oath (Bentz, 2012). Another

An Analysis of Benjamin Franklin s Autobiography
Introduction Benjamin Franklin is revered by Americans as one of its most revered and adored
founding fathers. For foreigners, Benjamin Franklin became the very icon of America, not only
because he was accomplished, but because he was a new man, a man that could only have been made
in America. Franklin came to be seen as the embodiment of American values. The image and the
values promoted in Franklin s autobiography would later come to be regarded as essential American
virtues: determination, industriousness, and self sufficiency. It was purportedly these virtues which led
to his great practical accomplishments in publishing, politics, and science. In a sense, Franklin s
autobiography was the first exposition of the now famous American Dream. Thesis: In his
autobiography, Franklin is undoubtedly concerned with developing virtue and self improvement, but
relies on others as the primary frame of reference for his own progress, always measuring himself with
others. This habit of comparison results in the development of vices as well as virtues. Background
Aims At the start of the First Chapter, Franklin claims to write only so that his own life may be an
example for his son of how one can live well and how one can get through hardships. He meant to
show ...the conducing means...which...so well succeeded, my posterity...may find some of them
suitable to their own situations. Franklin, B. (1909). The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. (New

Open Door Definition
All the while I was praying Lord I need you to open a door for me to walk through and speak what
you have given me to say. The children perform the skit in front of the congregation beautifully the
guest nods his head to me and claps for the children. As morning worship began all visitors were given
an opportunity to be acknowledged and Jim s guest stood and introduced himself as Rodger Gardner.
The pastor asked if anyone had a testimony to stand and tell it at that time. Two members stood to give
a testimony of what the Lord had done for them. That was my open door to do what God told me to do
and I thanked him for the open door. Then I stood acknowledging the pastor and that the Lord has
been dealing with me about people in the church and the blood will be required on my hand if I don t
speak what He revealed to me, looking in the Pastor s direction I asked if I may proceed. She nods,
yes by all means obey the Lord.
Walking over to each person I spoke out what the Lord had revealed for them, some received warning
some were rebuked and some deliverance. After speaking with the last person I threw my hands in the
air saying the blood is off my hands! The blood is off my hands! After service the pastor reminds the

Fiber optic communications systems are light wave systems that employ optical fibers for information
transmission.
Fig. BL vs Year
A commonly used figure of merit for communication systems is the bit rate distance product. (BL),
where B is the bit rate and L is the repeater spacing. Figure shows that the BL product has increased
with technical advances.
II. OPTICAL COMMUNICATION SYSTEM Modern fiber optic communication systems generally
include an optical transmitter to convert an electrical signal into an optical signal to send into the
optical fiber, a cable containing bundles of multiple optical fibers that is routed through underground
conduits and buildings, multiple kinds of amplifiers, and an optical receiver to recover the signal as an
electrical signal. The information transmitted is typically digital information generated by computers,
telephone systems, and cable television companies.
Figure shows a generic block diagram of an optical communication system. It consists of a transmitter,
a communication channel and a receiver. Optical communication systems can be classified into two
broad categories.

The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms
Since its inception in 1982 the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, very much like its primary
architect Pierre Trudeau, has been one of the most celebrated yet controversial elements of Canadian
politics and governance. Revealing how this dynamic emerged requires a nuanced understanding of
the motivation behind the Charter and the techniques it employed to succeed. The Canadian Charter of
Rights and Freedoms, like the entire patriation process, was motivated by and mobilized support
through, constitutionally enshrining democratic core values, multiculturalism and a sense of
nationalism. However, it should not be seen as merely a symbolic gesture on the part of Britain and
Canada or merely a strengthening of core values. Instead it was a fundamental reinvention of
Canadian federalism that shifted power away from the provinces to the federal government and from
the Parliament to the courts. This was accomplished by incentivizing provincial acceptance,
developing common interests, and, as a result, formalizing a national identity where the protection and
expansion of core values was encouraged as fundamental. This dynamic allowed the reinvention to, by
and large, succeed. An understanding of the provisions and effects of the Charter and how it ultimately
succeed as a re invention of the Canadian Government requires knowledge of the patriation process.
Before 1982, the formal power to amend the Canadian Constitution was held by the British
Parliament. This was seen

C. Coherence
For a linear system, the coherence function is given as
Cxy ( k ) 
Sxy ( k )
Sxx ( k ) Syy ( k )
(2)
where Sxy (ωk) is the input output cross spectrum (i.e., the power spectrum of the cross correlation
between the input and output functions), and Sxx (ωk) and Syy (ωk) are the power spectra of the
autocorrelations of the input and output, respectively. The function C2xy (ωk) can be interpreted as
the fraction of the mean square value of y(n) that can be attributed to the component of the input x(n)
at frequency ωk . Usually, pseudorandom noise is used as an input x(n). The two identification

outflow is $2,250,000.
NPV= 58,000,000 2,250,000 =55,750,000
Projects with a positive NPV add value to the firm.
Cash inflows and outflows can occur at any time during the project. The NPV of the project is the sum
of the present values of the net cash flows for each time period t, where t takes on the values 0 (the
beginning of the project) through N (the end of the project).
With this formula we can also calculate the time and the amount of money the capital invested in the
project will have generate profits.
The NPV calculation provides a dollar measure of how much a project is expected to add to a firm s
value. Analysts may also want to know what the rate of return on a project is in order to compare it to
the cost of capital. This rate is called the internal rate of return, or IRR.
The IRR is the discount rate that makes the present value of the cash inflows equal to the present value
of the cash outflows. This is the same as saying that the IRR is the discount rate that makes the net
present value equal to zero.
The formula that represents the IRR is

Volkswagen Mental Condition
our thoughts will determine your path in life.
In the nineteen sixties, an ugly car was introduced called a Volkswagen. It was not a pretty car and
about the best thing it had going for it was superior gas mileage and very reliable. The main problem
was, it was ugly.
So in order to change people s viewpoint and attitude on this not so pretty car, an advertising
campaign was developed.
It didn t show the car being driven or going on long trips. Mainly because in order to get extra gas
mileage the engine was under powered and it accelerated slowly. It was not an appealing market item.
So Volkswagen started an advertising campaign showing a pretty girl standing next to the car every

No one thought a four minute mile would ever be run by an athlete. The traditional thought was that
the physical body could not take the strain and their heart would burst. Then along comes an athlete
that doesn t know that fact and he runs a mile in under four minutes.
One of our greatest obstacles is our mental condition. Thoughts of doubt and unbelief keep us from
achieving our full potential. We draw back because we believe more in failing than in succeeding.
In order to conquer this condition, we must fill our mind with positive thoughts, successful thoughts,
and good moral thoughts. When we can fill our brain full enough with the necessary thoughts, our
goal will be a reality.
Here is a list of several things you need to do to change your thoughts:
Develop a quiet time for reflection; preferably early in the morning. Read and study self help books.
Write down your goals and review them several times a day. Write down affirmations. It is amazing
what can be accomplished when you focus consistently on your goals. Remember to be specific and
realistic but to also aim high. Associate with people who are successful. Continue these things on a
daily basis. Don t quit or give up.

Balen The Sandman
The muses were often depicted in art as beautiful women, mystical and playful by nature. Women who
were often seen dancing and entertaining humans. For example, the oil on wood painting done by
Baldassare Peruzzi. In this painting the muses are represented very light heartedly. They are gracefully
dancing with the God Apollo; with skirts swirling and a hop in each muses step it is clear to see that
this is a joyous and carefree representation of them. However, paintings of the muses were not always
concerned with amusement. Another painting done by Hendrick van Balen the Elder shows the nine
muses with the Olympian Athena, goddess of wisdom and just war. In this portrayal of the nine, they
are seen with the musical instruments they have created. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the television series Grimm created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, and Jim Kouf, the
twentieth episode of season two is titled Kiss of the Muse. The episode uses a character who takes on
the persona of a muse. Although this muse is anything but its classic counterpart. In the show the
muses are referred to as Musai. They do not hold the classical appearance of a muse, rather they are
blue silver in complexion, with vibrant red hair, bright cyan eyes, and pointed ears much like a nymph
(Carpenter et al., 2013). This variant of the muse does not inspire humanity, rather it feeds off the
creativity of men. Grimm takes on a femme fatal approach to the character. Musai in the show kiss
their victims, driving them mad with obsession causing them to become their devoted slaves. Often
this results in men killing each other in devotion of their Musai. This contrasts highly with the story
written by Gaiman. In Gaiman s tale the muse was someone who was helpless and in need of a
saviour, in contradistinction Carpenter, Greenwalt, and Kouf turn the muse into something much more
dangerous. The men who fall under the spell of the muse s kiss often fall into insanity or face death
(Carpenter et al., 2013). In this tale the men are captives of the muse rather than it being the other way
around. The writers use the myth of the muses as a

dilemma that continues to hassle the administration whose sole purpose is to provide institutional

turnover rate of the Corrections Officers, whom agencies nation wide are losing at an extremely high

Officers are being ordered in on their off days or holidays, forced to work mandatory overtime, a
higher inmate to Correctional Officer ratio, as well as experienced Officers having to work with an
extensive amount of rookie or inexperienced Correctional Officers. This combining of experienced
officers with new hires, who have not received any type of prior training, raises the stress level during
dangerous interactions with inmates, as well lowering the morale of the Officers who remain and
attempt to complete their careers with a specific agency. This may be due to long term employees
realizing that many of the new hires are using their time as a Correctional Officer to gain experience,
or as a stepping stone to eventually become a road or patrol Officer, which may involve more
experienced Officers not spending the time necessary to assist, or provide On the job training to the
new hires. Additional causes of stress may include the threat of inmate violence, actual inmate
violence, inmate demands and manipulations, problems with co workers, as well as having a poor
public image. For example, Between 1990 and 1995, the number of attacks on correctional officers in
State and Federal prisons jumped by nearly one third, from 10,731 to 14,165 (Lommel, 2004). An
additional stress added to a Correctional Officers life is being able to balance and separate work from

Peekay s Camouflage In The Great Gatsby
Peekay s camouflage is a symbol of growth that diminishes as he begins to grow and accept himself.
When he starts at the boarding school, Peekay s camouflage grows very extreme. He is learning that
the more he stands out, the more harm will come to him. After he returns to the school, Peekay
realizes he has forgotten an essential rule to surviving. The holidays had blunted my sense of survival:
adapt, blend, become part of the landscape, develop a camouflage, be a rock or a leaf or a stick insect,
try in every way to be an Afrikaner (Courtenay 23). This quote puts the reader in Peekay s shoes and
helps them realize how much he yearns to be like the other boys. During his time at boarding school,
things may be looking pretty poor for Peekay,

Hurricane Sandy Has Affected My Life
In late October of 2012 Hurricane Sandy hit many New York City boroughs and several parts of New
Jersey. My community and many others were greatly affected. Homes around me were destroyed,
people in my community were killed, and some families lost everything. My high school was a shelter
for those who were severely affected from October 23rd my high school were asking for volunteers
and my older brother and I were there amongst hundreds giving out food collecting clothing articles,
blankets, toys, anything to help others. The hardest part was seeing my high school teachers crying
educators who were emotionally unstable and had no place to go. The town of Tottenville was terribly
affected by hurricane sandy, houses on the shore were gone,

Baseball Motif In Fences
A motif is defined as a distinctive feature or dominant idea in an artistic or literary composition. The
motif of baseball is of great prominence in the play Fences by August Wilson. The recurring theme of
baseball is essential to the development of Troy s character as well as his relationships with his loved
ones, particularly Rose and Cory. The motif is also used often within Troy s speech throughout the
play to allude to significant themes and conflicts such as death and his adulterous affair with Alberta.
Troy perceives death in many ways. In Act one, scene one, Troy proclaims, death ain t nothing but a
fastball on the outside corner. In this declaration, Troy compares death to an easy pitch off of which he

Troy believes that because of his race, he was cheated out of a professional baseball career that he
rightfully earned. Weighing on him for years, this incredible injustice fostered Troy s bitterness. Troy
hides his immense pain, his resentment, and his disappointment behind the protection of his son, Cory.
Troy does not want Cory to be susceptible to that same disappointment that he experienced with
baseball. Troy s inability to play baseball due to racism served as his motivation to interfere with Cory
s potential college football career. Troy believes implementing strikes on Cory will prevent him from
reaching the same fate that he had. Troy warns Cory that his actions are causing him to strike out.
When Cory makes three mistakes in the eyes of Troy, he is kicked out of the house. There are also
physical representations of the baseball motif within the play. The rag ball tied to the tree could be
representative of Troy s poverty and his tattered and ragged dreams. The old ball also proves that even
after many years, Troy will do anything he could to hold onto his glory days. The baseball bat
becomes a weapon that Troy and Cory threaten each other with. The fight between the father and son
with the bat is of symbolic significance because it was Troy s inability to play baseball due to his race
that caused him to end Cory s football career and tarnish their

The Book Of Romans By Paul
Introduction The book of Romans was written by Paul to present a basic system of salvation to a
church that had not receive the teaching of an apostle before. In this book, the basis of a biblical
worldview can be illustrated by Paul when it comes to explaining the natural world, our human
identity, human relationships, and culture. The Natural World With regards to the natural world,
Romans 1:20 clearly states that For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and
sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities his eternal power and
divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God (NLT). The world was made perfect from
God s hands and science taken the credit away from Him and given it to Evolution other erroneous
ideas. It goes on to say they wouldn t worship him as God or even give him thanks. They thought of
foolish ideas of what God was like and eventually became lost. Instead of worshipping God, they
worshiped idols and God abandoned them to do whatever their hearts wished (Romans 1:21 24).
People in this world are no different from those in Paul s days. The idols people worship today range
from people, statues, wealth, material things, etc. It may not look like they bow down to those things
but that s all their minds are set on. Verses 25 32 is a perfect example of how people live; a perfect
example of how we are not to live. Human Identity Romans 3:10 18 says, No one is righteous not

Discuss how psychology developed as a scientific discipline
Prior to psychology being recognised as a scientific discipline in its own right, it was mainly a
philosophical concept developed by theorists in areas such as animism and dualism. However, these
philosophies were not based on objectivity unlike today s psychology which maintains that for an
investigation to be deemed scientific it must be based on the scientific method, which involves
gathering empirical and measurable evidence. A key figure in the development of psychology as a
science is René Descartes; a French philosopher and mathematician. Descartes was most influential in
his recognition of the body and mind being two separate entities. Descartes differed from ... Show

Bishop George Berkeley argued that there may indeed be no such thing as matter, as Locke claims that
all we ever see if primary and secondary qualities. Berkeley s ideas are called idealism, and essentially
state that all ideas come from the senses. However, it cannot be disputed that the work of Locke and
Hume was greatly influential in psychology s development as a scientific discipline. Indeed, these
notions on habit and causality became important in the development of behaviourism and the work of
Jean Piaget. The birth place of psychology as a scientific discipline was in Germany, with Wilhelm
Wundt becoming the founding father of psychology as he was the first person to describe himself as a
psychologist and to publish the first textbook on psychology. Wundt and many other German scientists
held that the human mind can be studied scientifically. Germany was the birthplace of psychology as
academics were open to the notion that psychology could be studied scientifically and not in a
traditional philosophical way like other academics believed. Germany was also central in the
development of experimental physiology, which was important in the progress of experimental
psychology. Wundt was also responsible for developing the first proper school of thought in
psychology: structuralism. Wundt also followed on

B2B and B2C Marketing Strategies
Marketing is an integral part of any business operation, regardless of platform or environment (brick
and mortar versus virtual); type of product sold or service rendered and target market. With the advent
of Internet technology, new business models or sites such as business to business (B2B) and business
to consumer (B2C), have emerged which require the employment of different marketing strategies and
tools to attract and retain customers. The following sections will provide a comparison of the
marketing strategies employed and tools utilized by B2B and B2C e business sites. Business owners,
members of the management team and key decision makers are primarily the target for B2B marketing
programs. According to Management Centre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Companies purchase these products or services for what they deem would help the organization
become profitable, competitive and successful (Bly, n.d.).
• Bly points out that most B2B customers are well informed on the features of the products/services
being offered; hence, marketing copywriters must conduct a comprehensive research to effectively
market the product or service. Business customers are more inclined to respond to marketing materials
that offer information. On the other hand, the general public has the tendency to be influenced by
slogans or curiosity with products which they do not necessarily know, need or want.
• Consumers respond to colorful marketing material; in contrast, business buyers are more concerned
with the type and amount of information provided by the marketing material.
• B2B involves a multi step buying process; therefore, marketing efforts involve the use of several
tools/mediums in addition to human intervention before a purchase agreement is reached. In a B2B
environment, the decision to purchase a product or service is typically made by several people
(management team or department). Therefore, B2B marketing teams must address the needs of the
people involved in the decision (Bly, n.d.). In comparison, it is usually the consumer s sole decision
when he/she wants to purchase a product or utilize a service.
• In a B2B setting, business buyers look for products or services that would

The Importance Of Transportation And Border Security
In today s America, Transportation and Border Security is more important than ever; with the ever
increasing threats of terrorism, illegal drug trade, immigration crises, among other things. With an
immense amount of International airports, ports of entry, and the nearly 7000 miles of border around
the country means numerous opportunities for a lapse in national security. There are a number of
agencies and initiatives in place to combat these threats, such as the Transportation Security
Administration, Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection, and the various plans/initiatives in
place designed to improve national security through securing our borders.
Border Patrol The border patrol has a singular mission: Protecting our borders from the illegal
movement of weapons, drugs, contraband, and people, while promoting lawful entry and exit .
Consisting of over 21,000 agents and established in 1924, it is one of the largest individual law
enforcement agencies within the United States, one of many agencies within the US Department of
Homeland Security.
Employing cutting edge law enforcement technology, they monitor the borders of the country via a
technique called Line Watch, which is used to detect, prevent, and/or apprehend illegal aliens,
terrorists, and smugglers by such methods as covert surveillance, responding to sensors, aircraft
sightings, and interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence. These, along

Green Fluorescent Protein Chromatography Lab Report
Purpose: Green fluorescent protein (gfp) and blue fluorescent protein (bfp) extracted from bacteria
were separated by chromatography by means of a molecular sieve matrix. This process utilized the
proteins size and shape and was able to separate it from the other molecules and be collected in test
tubes. The tubes containing the desired protein will glow under U.V. light. By running an
electrophoresis gel with these proteins, one can compare the protein bands and be able to determine
the approximate molecular weight of the proteins. In this experiment, students learned about the
methods and procedures to partially purify gfp and bfp. After purifying the proteins, the students will
be able to compare the molecular weights of the samples by running a denatured SDS polyacrylamide
gel (Purification Size Determination of GFP BFP, EDVOTEK). This will show students which
proteins different from one another and how denaturing can affect the proteins. Background: ... Show

When energy is transferred to these proteins it causes them to emit light. They will also glow when
under U.V. light (Purification Size Determination of GFP BFP, EDVOTEK). The proteins are
extracted by using size exclusion chromatography. This is a method where a solution is prepared and
separates molecules based on their size. The fluorescent properties of these proteins make them
heavily sought after when making chimeric proteins. Scientists will fuse bfp or gfp to another protein
to use it as a biomarker. These fusions will typically not affect the biological activity of the chimeric
protein (Purification Size Determination of GFP BFP, EDVOTEK). This makes fluorescent proteins a
tool that allows science to locate specific proteins within a cell and what their purpose

A Classroom Divided By Martin Luther King Jr.
A Classroom Divided, is a Classroom United On the day following the assassination of Martin Luther
King Jr., third grade teacher Mrs. Elliot altered her lesson plans surrounding the class unit on
discrimination to concretely teach the students by having them experience the unfairness of bigotry
firsthand. In 1970, the lesson was filmed for a documentary to demonstrate the implications of
stereotypes. The class was split into two groups based on a characteristic of minimal importance in the
societal context: eye color, to develop stereotypical behaviors among the students. On Tuesday, the
first day of the experiment, the students were deemed the blue eyed students and the brown eyed
students. In order, to develop the same type of racism that is generated among whites and colors, Mrs.
Elliot started to describe the differences between the two groups. The brown eyed students were
deemed less intelligent and inform that they would be allowed five minutes less time for recess, not be
allowed to use the drinking fountain and had to wear collars so they could be identified. Additionally,
the two groups could not participate in any activities together and to demonstrate their incompetence
that was initially dismissed by the blue eyed students she provided examples in which the student hit
their little sister or forgot their glasses deeming them forgetful, incompetent and mean. For the second
day of the lesson, the roles were reversed and similar stereotypes were appointed.

Essay on Hans Zimmer
Hans Zimmer Hans Zimmer was born in Frankfurt, Germany in September 12, 1957. As a child, he
began playing piano since he was three years old. Although he was receiving piano lessons, he quickly
became uninterested after only two weeks of piano lessons. Even more astounding he decided to
become a composer at age six. His father died when he was six and that is when he decided to become
serious about music, because it was his refuge as he quotes, It was my way of calming the demons in
me or at the same time sometimes letting them roar, letting them rip, letting the monster out and
seeing that it wasn t so scary being able to look it in the eye, (International Dictionary of Films and
Filmmakers 2). His family has been moving all over ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After his big success, he saw his career as a big fork in the road, he testifies, Lion King made me
reassess my situation in this town, Zimmer told Black. I admit that standing on the stage and getting
an Oscar [Academy Award] is the most seductive moment one can have in one s life. Then you go,
Wow, if I just carry on writing nice music like this, I can have this moment again.... That s why I did
the exact opposite, scoring for truly offensive projects like The Fan. Just to shake myself out of the
desire for that Oscar experience. When he created the score for A Crimson Tide, he used a large choir
and it featured a majestic symphonic score, as well as 3 D sound effects to enhance the film with
action and suspense. Despite his choice to take the path less glittered, he still received recognition for
A Crimson Tide. He won a Grammy for the score, and received another Academy Award nomination
for The Preacher s Wife. That same year, the performing rights organization BMI presented him with
its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award before Zimmer was 40 years old, which is a great
achievement on his part. And in 1998 he received yet another Academy Award nomination on the
movie As Good As It Gets (1998). In the late 1990 s, Zimmer accepted a head position of the music
division with the Dreamworks SKG studio. While he was there, he supervised for all of their

Choice Blindness Essay
People are susceptible to memory alterations from misleading information to their own self reported
choices (choice blindness) as well as to events that are just seen (misinformation effect). Using these
two concepts, the authors used a combination of the misinformation paradigm (misinformation effect)
and choice blindness paradigm to examine the long term effects of choice blindness. Using an
integrative approach, the authors hypothesized the influence of other sourced information to changes
(e.g. In a previous trial, another participant said... ) in memory reports, and the inability to detect
alterations in memory reports. Overall, the authors hypothesized the development of false memories
from exposure to inaccurate memory reports.
In the first study, 186 undergraduate students watched a slideshow of a women getting her wallet
stolen, and then completed measures of a personality assessment (to fulfill cover story). Next,
participants answered ten questions relating to the slideshow (e.g. What color was the thief s jacket?).
After a 15 minute retention period, the participants received their memory reports. Three of the
responses were manipulated (misinformation items) and the other seven were not manipulated
(control). The memory reports had two experimental conditions as self sourced (personal scores
shifted) vs. other sourced (e.g. In a previous trial, another participant said... ). Within the participants,
the memory reports were either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 4. Truths In The Canterbury Tales The author of the Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer, does try to show a world where everything is how it truly is and not as something that is fake. Throughout the story of The Wife of Bath he shows that knights should have a chivalry to uphold and should work hard to keep it. He also shows that everyday things that can be horrible end up happening in real life. Many times he also mentions religion and how it affects how some people are in the work of religion. Chivalry to uphold is a main part of the reason many knights had their place in society. They have a code of conduct in which they live by and they swear an oath to it. Many knights would swear to the oath but will break it if their loyalty wasn t in the right place. When getting this oath taken, the main thing knights will swear on is to lay their life on the line for the royal family and their home land. Chaucer shows in The Wife of Bath where a knight does go back on his word but does end up following King Arthur s word when his wife gives the knight a punishment. ... Elements Of Field Programmable Gate Arrays CHAPTER 1 1 INTRODUCTION For the past decades, scientific computation has been a popular research tool among scientists and engineers from numerous areas, including climate modelling, computational chemistry, and bioinformatics .With the maturing of application algorithms, developing high performance computing platforms that satisfy the increasing computational demands, search spaces, and data volume have become a huge challenge. As predicted by Moore s law .faster and faster computers are built to provide more processing power every year. Apparently, speeding up the computation serially alone is no longer enough. In 1967 Amdahl presented a model to estimate the theoretical maximum improvement when multiple processing units were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Various representation systems were introduced to represent signed integer numbers, including signed magnitude, biased, and complement systems .Both the signed and unsigned integer representations can be extended to encode fractional data by employing an implicit or explicit radix point that denotes the scaling factor. These integer based real number representations are generally called fixed point systems, where the term fixed point implies that the scaling factor is constant during the computation without externally reconfigured. As a result, the precision (least represent able value of the unit in the last place, for a fixed point number system cannot be improved without sacrificing its represent able value range. Floating point representation on the other hand provides not only the ability for wide dynamic range support, but also high precision for small values. A typical floating point number is represented in four components, and its value can be calculated with the equation. x = ± s × be, where s is the significant and e is the biased exponent (with implicit bias). • 6. Snows Of Kilimanjaro Analysis Angelica Sawan Professor North October 23, 2017 SLD Packet 2 Summary: The Snows of Kilimanjaro by Ernest Hemingway is a tale of a man named Harry and his Wife Helen who are on a safari trip, and while on it Harry catches gangrene because he doesn t put ointment on a cut he received from a thorn while taking a photo of a water buck. Throughout the story Harry is a Negative Nancy, arguing with his wife and being blunt about how he is going to die before a rescue team can get to them. For example, Harry and Helen argue about whether he should drink a whisky and soda, whether she should read to him, and about how he is going to die. Harry thinks about his life experiences a lot in this short story, about how he hasn t lived up to his potential as a writer because he has a tendency to marry rich women. Harry also goes in and out of consciousness while remembering his life adventures. His wife Helen does care for Harry and she does enjoy his writing, but she is obviously concerned about his health and his self pity irritates her. Harry mentions that Helen is really a good wife and does not keep him as a proud possession and how she doesn t neglect his true talent, which is writing. We also find out that Helen is a widow who was bored of the lovers before Harry and they married because of her enjoyment of his writing and how they have similar interests. At the end of the story Helen wakes up because of a loud hyena call, she takes a flashlight and shines it on Harry s bed which she moved into their tent earlier that night. She sees him under the mosquito net with his leg hanging off of the cot and notices that Harry is dead. The hyena cries again but Helen can t hear it over her heart breaking. Formal: Tender Buttons by Gertrude Stein is a collection of writings about ordinary objects, and is divided into objects, food, and rooms. She uses random objects with random adjectives, and she uses language to direct the mind and force the reader to connect nouns with unsuspecting adjectives to make you look at the world in a new way. It s a pros poem, it s a cubist poem. She tries to break apart logic. The theme is giving new meaning to ordinary objects, she wants us to think, she uses a lot of literary devices. ... The Second Amendment And The Fourth Amendment Since the time the framers of the constitution, technology has improved significantly which has led to an increasing concern in the privacy of an individual. Technology, used by government agencies and commercial enterprises, has led to a change in one s privacy and freedom. For this reason, the agencies and enterprises have been called into question of infringement of the fourth. Using the lessons learned from history, the framers of the constitutions created the fourth amendment, which protects from unreasonable searches, and the fifth amendment, which prevents a person from incriminating himself or herself, to create a government with just laws, but with the advancement in technology, the fourth amendment needs to expand its policies to fit the changes in modern society. Drawing from lessons of history, the framers created the Fifth Amendment which protects an accused person from self incrimination, and punishment without due process of law (Edwards, Wattenberg, Lineberry, 2006). The framers had in mind the oath de veritae dicenda In twelve thirteen, Pope Innocent III created a council that led trials of crimes. An accused had to swear the oath, which was to answer all questions truthfully, when in front of the council. If the person refused, the person was said to be guilty, and if the person pleaded not guilty he was convicted of perjury. In top of all of this, the council would threaten eternal damnation if the person did not take the oath (Bentz, 2012). Another ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. An Analysis of Benjamin Franklin s Autobiography Introduction Benjamin Franklin is revered by Americans as one of its most revered and adored founding fathers. For foreigners, Benjamin Franklin became the very icon of America, not only because he was accomplished, but because he was a new man, a man that could only have been made in America. Franklin came to be seen as the embodiment of American values. The image and the values promoted in Franklin s autobiography would later come to be regarded as essential American virtues: determination, industriousness, and self sufficiency. It was purportedly these virtues which led to his great practical accomplishments in publishing, politics, and science. In a sense, Franklin s autobiography was the first exposition of the now famous American Dream. Thesis: In his autobiography, Franklin is undoubtedly concerned with developing virtue and self improvement, but relies on others as the primary frame of reference for his own progress, always measuring himself with others. This habit of comparison results in the development of vices as well as virtues. Background Aims At the start of the First Chapter, Franklin claims to write only so that his own life may be an example for his son of how one can live well and how one can get through hardships. He meant to show ...the conducing means...which...so well succeeded, my posterity...may find some of them suitable to their own situations. Franklin, B. (1909). The children perform the skit in front of the congregation beautifully the guest nods his head to me and claps for the children. As morning worship began all visitors were given an opportunity to be acknowledged and Jim s guest stood and introduced himself as Rodger Gardner. The pastor asked if anyone had a testimony to stand and tell it at that time. Two members stood to give a testimony of what the Lord had done for them. That was my open door to do what God told me to do and I thanked him for the open door. Then I stood acknowledging the pastor and that the Lord has been dealing with me about people in the church and the blood will be required on my hand if I don t speak what He revealed to me, looking in the Pastor s direction I asked if I may proceed. She nods, yes by all means obey the Lord. Walking over to each person I spoke out what the Lord had revealed for them, some received warning some were rebuked and some deliverance. • 11. The Canadian Charter Of Rights And Freedoms Since its inception in 1982 the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, very much like its primary architect Pierre Trudeau, has been one of the most celebrated yet controversial elements of Canadian politics and governance. Revealing how this dynamic emerged requires a nuanced understanding of the motivation behind the Charter and the techniques it employed to succeed. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, like the entire patriation process, was motivated by and mobilized support through, constitutionally enshrining democratic core values, multiculturalism and a sense of nationalism. However, it should not be seen as merely a symbolic gesture on the part of Britain and Canada or merely a strengthening of core values. Instead it was a fundamental reinvention of Canadian federalism that shifted power away from the provinces to the federal government and from the Parliament to the courts. This was accomplished by incentivizing provincial acceptance, developing common interests, and, as a result, formalizing a national identity where the protection and expansion of core values was encouraged as fundamental. So in order to change people s viewpoint and attitude on this not so pretty car, an advertising campaign was developed. It didn t show the car being driven or going on long trips. Thoughts of doubt and unbelief keep us from achieving our full potential. We draw back because we believe more in failing than in succeeding. In order to conquer this condition, we must fill our mind with positive thoughts, successful thoughts, and good moral thoughts. When we can fill our brain full enough with the necessary thoughts, our goal will be a reality. Here is a list of several things you need to do to change your thoughts: Develop a quiet time for reflection; preferably early in the morning. Read and study self help books. Write down your goals and review them several times a day. Write down affirmations. It is amazing what can be accomplished when you focus consistently on your goals. For example, the oil on wood painting done by Baldassare Peruzzi. In this painting the muses are represented very light heartedly. They are gracefully dancing with the God Apollo; with skirts swirling and a hop in each muses step it is clear to see that this is a joyous and carefree representation of them. However, paintings of the muses were not always concerned with amusement. In the television series Grimm created by Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt, and Jim Kouf, the twentieth episode of season two is titled Kiss of the Muse. The episode uses a character who takes on the persona of a muse. Although this muse is anything but its classic counterpart. In the show the muses are referred to as Musai. They do not hold the classical appearance of a muse, rather they are blue silver in complexion, with vibrant red hair, bright cyan eyes, and pointed ears much like a nymph (Carpenter et al., 2013). This variant of the muse does not inspire humanity, rather it feeds off the creativity of men. Grimm takes on a femme fatal approach to the character. Musai in the show kiss their victims, driving them mad with obsession causing them to become their devoted slaves. Often this results in men killing each other in devotion of their Musai. This contrasts highly with the story written by Gaiman. In Gaiman s tale the muse was someone who was helpless and in need of a saviour, in contradistinction Carpenter, Greenwalt, and Kouf turn the muse into something much more dangerous. The men who fall under the spell of the muse s kiss often fall into insanity or face death (Carpenter et al., 2013). This combining of experienced officers with new hires, who have not received any type of prior training, raises the stress level during dangerous interactions with inmates, as well lowering the morale of the Officers who remain and attempt to complete their careers with a specific agency. This may be due to long term employees realizing that many of the new hires are using their time as a Correctional Officer to gain experience, or as a stepping stone to eventually become a road or patrol Officer, which may involve more experienced Officers not spending the time necessary to assist, or provide On the job training to the new hires. Additional causes of stress may include the threat of inmate violence, actual inmate violence, inmate demands and manipulations, problems with co workers, as well as having a poor public image. In this book, the basis of a biblical worldview can be illustrated by Paul when it comes to explaining the natural world, our human identity, human relationships, and culture. The Natural World With regards to the natural world, Romans 1:20 clearly states that For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God (NLT). The world was made perfect from God s hands and science taken the credit away from Him and given it to Evolution other erroneous ideas. It goes on to say they wouldn t worship him as God or even give him thanks. They thought of foolish ideas of what God was like and eventually became lost. Instead of worshipping God, they worshiped idols and God abandoned them to do whatever their hearts wished (Romans 1:21 24). People in this world are no different from those in Paul s days. The idols people worship today range from people, statues, wealth, material things, etc. It may not look like they bow down to those things but that s all their minds are set on. In 1970, the lesson was filmed for a documentary to demonstrate the implications of stereotypes. The class was split into two groups based on a characteristic of minimal importance in the societal context: eye color, to develop stereotypical behaviors among the students. On Tuesday, the first day of the experiment, the students were deemed the blue eyed students and the brown eyed students. In order, to develop the same type of racism that is generated among whites and colors, Mrs. Elliot started to describe the differences between the two groups. The brown eyed students were deemed less intelligent and inform that they would be allowed five minutes less time for recess, not be allowed to use the drinking fountain and had to wear collars so they could be identified. Additionally, the two groups could not participate in any activities together and to demonstrate their incompetence that was initially dismissed by the blue eyed students she provided examples in which the student hit their little sister or forgot their glasses deeming them forgetful, incompetent and mean. • 34. Choice Blindness Essay People are susceptible to memory alterations from misleading information to their own self reported choices (choice blindness) as well as to events that are just seen (misinformation effect). Using these two concepts, the authors used a combination of the misinformation paradigm (misinformation effect) and choice blindness paradigm to examine the long term effects of choice blindness. Using an integrative approach, the authors hypothesized the influence of other sourced information to changes (e.g. In a previous trial, another participant said... ) in memory reports, and the inability to detect alterations in memory reports. Overall, the authors hypothesized the development of false memories from exposure to inaccurate memory reports. In the first study, 186 undergraduate students watched a slideshow of a women getting her wallet stolen, and then completed measures of a personality assessment (to fulfill cover story). Next, participants answered ten questions relating to the slideshow (e.g. What color was the thief s jacket?). After a 15 minute retention period, the participants received their memory reports. Three of the responses were manipulated (misinformation items) and the other seven were not manipulated (control). The memory reports had two experimental conditions as self sourced (personal scores shifted) vs. other sourced (e.g. In a previous trial, another participant said... ). Within the participants, the memory reports were either ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Blindness to the manipulation elicits memory change more than pure exposure to manipulations. The inability to recognize manipulations to memory reports, can have long term effects for memory to become consistent with manipulations, this effect is memory blindness. Memory blindness can have detrimental effects in eye witness memory, the inability to correct possible mistakes in reports might lead to eye witnesses creating new ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
