Japan Women
To understand all modern or early modern states in a general sense is almost impossible; therefore, a
narrowing down is necessary here. This paper discusses solely about Japan and China, assumed as
early modern in this specific context, and the position of women, particularly prostitutes, within them.
Drawn from Amy Stanley s Selling Women and Matthew H. Sommer s Sex, Law, and Society in Late
Imperial China, it addresses the differences and similarities between the women of China and Japan in
sex trade to elaborate how women were subject to the gendered order along socio economic changes.
At the first glance, women in China and Japan in the early modern stage were strikingly dissimilar.
One of the most conspicuous differences lies in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chinese women, if a commoner, were required to follow the social system which endowed sexual
monopoly of the husbands over the wives, whereas the situation of their Japanese counterparts is
similar in that the praising of indentured prostitutes who supported their families was a discourse to
help strengthen the patriarchal status system in early Tokugawa period. Certainly, the society changed
over time and so was the position of women within it. This is clearly seen in the expansion of sex
trade in Japan since the eighteenth century and the emancipation edict of jian status in 1723 in Qing
China. However, this does not mean that women were freed from the gendered social cage. As
Sommer contends, the edict reinforced the gendered stratum, implicated in that as all women were
categorized as commoners, they were ultimately evaluated by their sexual history . In the Japanese
case, Stanley argues that Japanese prostitutes were never really autonomous in economic terms. This
accusation of being economic autonomous agents by the local elites and peasants precisely evidences
the patriarchal anxiety to maintain the gendered order

Analysis Of The Film Invictus
Many times, when I think of leaders, I tend to look their heart. Being a leader is more than that but, if
a leader doesn t have a good heart than they aren t a good person in my opinion. Therefore, I believe
that the film Invictus does a great job at portraying just that. This film follows two real life leaders
Nelson Mandela and François Pienaar. Both come together and try to unite South Africa. After
Mandela, is jailed for over 27 years his goal is to have peace amongst all the races.
One very important thing that is talked about is the essence of leadership. Nelson, states that people
are inspired to do greatness and so is everyone else by using the work of others. He only expects more
of himself. This is what keeps him going every day and that s how he keeps growing as a person.
In the film, Mandela showed qualities of a true leader. He did not hold onto resentment even though
he was in jail for almost three decades. In one instance, he wanted races to be united no matter the
color of their skin. When his security team needed more people, he made sure that he had white
security as well. Mandela s original team did not agree with him and therefore they were furious. The
head of security went to speak with Mandela and Mandela told him that change starts with them. By
him having different types of races working for him this showcased that it didn t matter the color of
their skin. Everyone is equal in the end.
Going further into the film, Mandela showed leadership

The Producer Consumer Problem Considered Harmful
The Producer Consumer Problem Considered Harmful
Shyam Rangrej and Kushang Gonawala
Abstract
In recent years, much research has been devoted to the exploration of DHTs; on the other hand, few
have simulated the construction of architec ture. In this position paper, we demonstrate the study of
simulated annealing. Our focus in this paper is not on whether the Internet can be made certifiable,
semantic, and optimal, but rather on motivating an analysis of write ahead logging (INK).
1 Introduction
Recent advances in stable modalities and au tonomous epistemologies are rarely at odds with access
points. The notion that physicists collude with A* search is usually excellent. On a sim ilar note,
though such a hypothesis is always a confirmed purpose, it fell in line with our expec tations. The
development of voice over IP would greatly amplify the simulation of the Ethernet.
Motivated by these observations, the under standing of randomized algorithms and agents have been
extensively developed by scholars. The basic tenet of this method is the deploy ment of IPv6. In
addition, we allow random ized algorithms [23] to provide self learning the ory without the
compelling unification of sensor networks and A* search. Furthermore, the draw back of this type of
solution, however, is that the much touted homogeneous algorithm for the in
vestigation of spreadsheets by White is Turing complete. Along these same lines, indeed, XML and

Analysis Of The Article Dear Students Don t Let...
Corrupt college professors are ruining students chances of getting a quality education. Students will
typically get that hunch that a professor might be out the get them, but in reality those professors are
actually out to get the whole student body. When these decrepit professors are in the classroom, they
are not hip on modern teaching methods. This is detrimental to a student who just needs a quality
education to keep up with the competitive working world that we have come to today. The article Dear
Students: Don t Let College Unplug Your Future is an effective argument to convince incoming
freshmen at Brigham Young University and current BYU freshmen not to let the academic tradition
get in the way of their learning by the use of allusions, colloquial diction, anecdotes and humor to
establish a bond of trust between himself and the reader.
Throughout the article Gideon Burton uses colloquial diction to put himself at the reader s level. Holy
trapped in old school , is a prime example of the many uses of colloquial diction that he has woven in
and out of the pages of his article (47). He uses this to have more of an effect on the expected
audience. He knows that the young college kids do not want to read ten pages of a verbose professor
ranting about how he believes that the internet is needed in college. He would have a limited audience
without the diction that he uses. This creates a bond between Gideon and the audience. His use of
diction automatically helps him to

Essay about Why we believe in ghosts
English 1 research paper

Why people believe in ghosts.
Lying in bed in the middle of the night while sleep eludes me, a noise breaks through the silence. Oh
my God! What was that!? Maybe it was just my imagination, or maybe it was just the house settling.
There it is again! I must be hearing things. I get cold and my body starts to shiver uncontrollably. I
peek to where the sound comes from and I could swear I see something through the dark room; it
appears even darker than the surrounding area. Oh my! I think it just moved. My breathing becomes
labored and I pull the covers over my head, trying to calm myself down while making my brain work
through what just happened. Was I dreaming? Or did I just see a ghost?

The belief in Doppelgangers and poltergeist has also crossed the ocean over to the U.S. Many people
still report poltergeist activity in their homes.
Another example of a cultures belief in ghosts is Ireland s and Scotland s (also known as the Celt s)
belief in Samhain or All Hallow s Eve. Samhain is a festival that is celebrated from October 31st to
November 2nd. Samhain is a time of the year that celebrates the last harvest before the winter comes,
and is dedicated to the Lord of the Dead (Guiley 19). The Celt s believe that the dead will come out of
their final resting place and mess with the crops. Also, it is believed that communication with the dead
is easier during Samhain. It is said that the veil that separates the living from the dead is at its thinnest
during this time. The Lord of the Dead holds a sentencing of spirits, where if they were good they can
exist in the form of a human, and if they were bad, the form of an animal. Offerings of food and drink
are made to the Lord of the Dead so he would not be so severe in his sentencing. Many Celt s would
dress up on Samhain to confuse the spirits that were roaming around so they wouldn t stop, but
continue to pass them by (Guiley 19). This festival is still celebrated today as Halloween. Currently,
Americans hold by some of the old traditions by dressing up and making offerings by handing out
candy. Many Celt s still hold beliefs in the old ways. Celt s also believe in what is

Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis TertiusBy Jorge Luis Borges
Ana Bahena English 102D Izenberg November 2, 2017 Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius Jorge Luis Borges
is widely known for his bizarre short stories that question all aspects of life and our world. Tlon,
Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is no different putting into question everything we believe to be true. Tlon,
Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is a narrative account of an individual who has discovered the fictional land of
Uqbar in one of the version of an encyclopedia. Throughout the story, the man keeps investigating
more on this place and finds that its importance comes from Tlon, one of the subdivisions of Uqbar,
and its literature. Tlon is an ideal world, which the reader later finds out, created by a secret society,
Orbis Tertius and has been equipped with its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how many variations of Uqbar (Ukbar, Ucbar, Ookbar, Oukbahr) he searches for, he cannot
seem to find this place. In order to appease the narrator, Casares tells him that [Uqbar] was a region in
Iraq or Asia Minor (Borges 68). Casares uses words and places that the narrator knows and connects
with so that the narrator can place this fictional world within the real world. Although completely
doubtful of his friend, the narrator consults the atlases of Justus Perthes just to make sure that Uqbar is
not real, as he believes it to be. This part in the short story, although minute, is crucial because it
causes tension between that the narrator believes to be real and that which he doubts to be real. In this
same manner, the text itself is causing tension between what the reader knows to be real and what is
fiction. The reader assumes that what he/she is reading is fiction, but this comes in conflict with the
constant use of real works and people such as the Encyclopedia Britannica, the N.R.F, Bioy Casares,
Justus Perthes, and many others. The specificity of terms and names of real authors and theorists that
are fused into the work bring an apparent legitimacy to what is read. Yet, as the reader continues, the
story becomes seemingly false. The reader s experience is mirrored in the text as the narrator goes
through a similar development of realization regarding the encyclopedia entry on Uqbar. As

My choice of media is an advertisement by Kraft Foods Inc. and I chose it because it s minimalistic
and intriguing. Thesis and Focus How simplicity and authenticity overrule ostentatious
advertisements: A visual analysis of the Heinz ad campaign. Description In the above advertisement
for Heinz ketchup, the company takes an approach to amaze their audience with the help of abstract
art. The featured advertisement is for Heinz Ketchup. It includes a garish red backdrop. It also features
something that looks like a classic bottle of Heinz ketchup, but actually are horizontally sliced
tomatoes bundled on top of each other in the shape of the classic ketchup bottle. The text below reads,
No one grows ketchup like Heinz. While the advertisement is simple and minimalistic, the
combination of text and picture is enticing to the targeted consumer. While other ketchup companies

Even an advertisement about a universally known brand has the potential to be interpreted in various
ways. In the Heinz example, a consumer may see the sliced ketchup bottle as an abstract sculpture,
and therefore associate the company with innovation and art. By stating No one grows ketchup like
Heinz , they are saying that their ketchup uses natural and fresh ingredients, unlike other competing
brands. Ketchup is made in a factory and by any means isn t grown . However, the text below the
picture reads otherwise. By this, the marketers transform a sugary condiment into a wholesome, raw
ingredient. This is clearly an attempt by the advertisers to assign a healthy connotation to ketchup. Not
only are the advertisers attaching a nutritional aspect to ketchup, they are redefining ketchup perhaps
in an attempt to promote a healthier way of

Interpersonal Communication Elements And Nonverbal...
Communication is the imparting or exchanging of information by speaking, (Oxford Dictionaries |
English, 2017) opinions, writing, or using some other medium or signs. It can also means sending or
receiving information, such as telephone lines or computers (Dictionary.com, 2017). Interpersonal
communication is the process by which a persona exchange information, by feeling and meaning
through verbal and non verbal communication. It includes face to face communication it equerries you
to be present (Gamble and Gamble, n.d. Ch. 1 pp.2 23.2008). This communication can sometimes be
done by interpersonal, sometimes a tea or a small group sometimes in a public forum. We are all
engaging in interpersonal communication everyday of our lives. Interpersonal communication is not
just about what is said is about the language used and how it is said and the non verbal message sent
through tone of voice, gestures, body language and facial expressions (2011 2017, 2017). This article
will discuss the following things interpersonal communication elements and Nonverbal
communication.
They are three main interpersonal communication elements they include the communicators, the
message and noise(Gamble and Gamble, n.d. Ch. 1 pp.2 23.2008). For a communication to transpire
between two people it is easy to think about communication involving a sender and a receiver of a
message. However, the problem with this way of seeing a relationship is that it presents
communication as a one way process where one person sends the message and the other receives it.
While one person is talking and the another is listening. Communications are practically always
complex, two way processes, with a sender and a receiver to and from each other instantaneously. In
other words, communication is an interactive process. Where one person is speaking the other is
listening. While the person who is listening, they are also sending feedback in the form body language
they include smiles, nods of the head(Gamble and Gamble, n.d. 2008).
Message does not only mean the speech used or the information that is carried out but also the non
verbal messages exchanged that takes place such has facial expressions, body language, the tone of

The Super Hero In Fearless By Eric Blehm
When the word hero comes to mind people usually think of some super hero that they read about in a
book or saw in a movie, but the literal definition of a hero is a person who is admired for their
courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Fearless by Eric Blehm contains many
examples of real life heroes. Adam Brown is undoubtedly the main hero in Blehm s novel, but other
members of the Brown family also displayed many notable heroic qualities.
The main hero in Fearless was Adam Brown. Adam was born on February 5, 1974, in Hot Springs,
Arkansas. When he was a child, he enjoyed playing football and spending time with his friends and
family. As he grew older, Adam became friends with the wrong crowd, and he began to make poor life
choices. Fearless is the story of how Adam overcame his demons in life and became an amazing father
and a well known hero.
Adam struggled with a drug addiction early in life. Drugs totally destroyed him, and his relationship
with his family. He was no longer the son that Larry and Janice Brown raised. After Adam met Kelley,
he started to make an effort to turn his life around. Adam became a totally different person. He became
someone that the world could admire and look up to.
Many soldiers die every single day, and their story never gets told. The question is what makes Adam
s story so different and worth sharing. It could have something to do with Adam s unique personality.
After he turned his life around, Adam became a

Compare And Contrast Andrew Jackson And The Democratic Party
Who would believe me if I said for a short time in American history there was only one political
party? Well, from the years 1812 to 1824 the Republican Party was the only political party in the U.S.
Due to an increasing amount of voter interest the election of 1828 saw the first presidential candidates
from two separate parties. Andrew Jackson was the representative from the Democratic Party, and
Henry Clay represented the Whig Party. Both Democratic and Whig parties impacted America in
many ways during the 19th century, but one in particular stood out significantly amongst the other.
Soon after the war of 1812, the Federalist Party collapsed, leaving just one political party in the U.S.
for over a decade. It was not until the election of 1824 that there was an emergence of a second party
system. As stated previously one party led by Andrew Jackson was the Democrats. The Democratic
Party developed when Andrew Jackson was elected president. The democrats believed in helping the
common man. They stayed out of state affairs, favored the working class, and were tolerant of
immigrants. The Whig party which consisted of mainly prosperous people formed in opposition to the
Democratic Party. They believed that the federal government should be actively involved in the
economy to stimulate growth. They were also in favor of tariffs to protect infant industries and
internal improvements.
Andrew Jackson was a major political figure for the democrats. He and John Quincy Adams were the

Theodore Herzl s Influence On Der Judenstaat
Generally accepted to have been the father of modern Zionism, (Wharton, 75) Theodore Herzl wrote
in his groundbreaking piece 1896 Der Judenstaat:
Wherever they live in perceptible numbers, they are more or less persecuted. Their equality before the
law, granted by statute, has become practically a dead letter. They are debarred from filling even
moderately high positions, either in the army, or in any public or private capacity. And attempts are
made to thrust them out of business also: Don t buy from Jews! (Herzl, II. The Jewish Question).
Rather than seeking sympathy, Herzl prefaced his work with these anti Semitic acts in history as a
categorical reason for an autonomous Der Judenstaat, which is literally State of the Jews in German,
and began the movement now known as Zionism. It is interesting to note, however, that anti Semitism,
which may be defined as the prejudice, discrimination and hatred of Jews as a national, ethnic,
religious or racial group, (Anti Semitism) permeated history for millennia before Zionism emerged;
yet, many scholars regard it as the predominant impetus for the rise of the Zionist movement. Anti

Inclusive Education Summary
Summary
Inclusive education is about providing the best possible learning environment for students with
disabilities. The purpose of the article was to determine the disposition, skills, and knowledge of both
general and special education teachers as well as the school environment. The research suggests that
teachers must have open mindedness and be self aware when they teach in an inclusive classroom.
Many teachers provided answers that suggest that they understand the need and have the willingness
but lack the skills and knowledge while some simply lack the needed disposition to work with
children with disabilities. As a result, we can see that there is a need to further develop teacher s
professional skills as well as developing the emotional fortitude that is required to be effective at
teaching in a inclusive classroom. Literature Review Inclusive education is defined as an appropriate
learning environment for students with disabilities while in the general education (Lamar Dukes and
Dukes 2005). We have seen more and more students with disabilities being placed in inclusive
environments around the U.S and abroad (Cramer and Nevin 2006; Etscheldt 2006; Lindsay 2007; US
Department of Education 2007). Because of this integration of diverse student populations there is a
need to have more welcoming school environments, appropriate resources both in and outside the

Tuesdays With Morrie Response
When was the last time that you had a true heart to heart with someone? When did you last truly feel
an emotion? How many times have you sent a laugh to someone through the phone without even
smirking? The world we live in is becoming less and less human. As technologies develop we develop
with them and find ourselves to be lost without electronics. This is leading us down a path that will
dehumanize the modern population leaving the human race more like robots. I believe that Tuesdays
with Morrie may be able to help change the path that we are on.
The book Tuesdays with Morrie, written by Mitch Albom who is a sports journalist, was an
international best seller in 1997. Mitch ends up seeing in the news that one of his favorite old

They can send LOL or even Love you without even meaning or feeling an of it. His idea of emotions
was another point that was right up in Tuesdays with Morrie. Morrie has learned throughout his life
that you need to fly immerse yourself in every emotion that you feel at least once so that you can later
recognize that emotion and you can say I don t have to let it control me. I see it for what it is. (105). In
the society that we live in today this is especially important because technology is beginning to take
over our lives making a screen, or a profile represent our thoughts and emotions and not having
ourselves actually see and wheel them. Phrases like lol, omg, rofl and just about anything that anyone
says on social media is more often than not false. They may say that they are rollin on the floor

is why it is so important that the idea of being immersed in any emotion is important for society to

Indian Imperialism
Rudyard Kipling stated, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet (Velgen 240).
One of the main questions posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah, is whether
or not it is possible to be friendly with the Englishmen. The book serves as an example as to how
difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already present. This question is
answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in the novel and
analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal relationships. Set in British
colonial India, the novel explores cultural, religious, and political barriers and the hostility between
the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country already known to be diverse within itself and
containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and distinct traditions, was unaware of a
society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity. This book created much controversy
because many critics believe that E.M. Forster, the author, was being impartial to the Ango Indians

A Defense Of Abortion By Judith Jarvis Thomson
Abortion is a major issue that has lead to many different opinions, ideas, and various debates.
Proponents for abortion often use the fact that a fetus is not a moral person to justify their position,
whereas those who are against the issue often claim that a fetus is a moral person and should deserve
every right a moral person has, including the right to live. Judith Jarvis Thomson, however, takes an
entirely different approach. In her article A Defense of Abortion Thomson argues that even if a fetus is
considered to be a human being does not automatically ensure it the right to live. Thomson s position
leads to many oppositions and critiques. Foot s article, for example, Killing versus Letting Die
attempts to point out the flaws in Thomson s argument. Foot claims that a fetus status must be
considered when addressing the issue of abortion and that Thomson s argument is invalid. Although
Thomson s argument may seem valid at first, Foot does offer considerable evidence critiquing the
validity of Thomson s argument. One of the main issues Foot has with Thomson s argument is the
analogy her paper consistently relies on to relay her position. In the analogy, a person is kidnapped
and placed in a kidney machine that is connected to an ill violinist, who is in desperate need of a
functioning kidney. With that analogy, Thomson argues that an individual s right to agency trumps
over another person s right to life if that person has to depend on and is a burden to the

Economic Development Strategy For The City Of Sydney
Basic Summary
Sydney is Australia s worldwide city, and the main learning based economy in the country. More than
$100 billion for each annum is produced in Sydney. That is more than half of what the whole mining
part creates, and double the span of the horticultural division at the farm gate.
In the course of the most recent five years our city economy has demonstrated its flexibility by
withstanding the worldwide financial recession. About 2000 organisations were added to the city since
2007. Major urban restoration ventures over the City of Sydney are giving occupations and lodging.
Green Square, Australia s biggest urban redevelopment task, is only 3.5kms from the downtown area.
The $8 billion redevelopment will give homes to 11,000 new inhabitants and 22,000 new labourers.
Economic Development Strategy for the City
The City of Sydney s 10 year Economic Development Strategy will help convey a realistic vision for a
significantly more dynamic, earth feasible economy, and a liveable city that works for inhabitants,
labourers, guests and understudies. Activity arrangements will bolster our current monetary qualities,
for example, the fund, tourism and retail areas; and develop new, rising parts, for example, the evening
time economy and green economy divisions. We are as of now putting $1.9 billion in a 10 year

Analysis Of Irving R. Kaufman s Sentencing Speech
No one is innocent when his opponent is the judge. Lucan; Pharsalia
Section A: Plan of Investigation When Judge Irving R. Kaufman sentenced the Rosenbergs to death in
the electric chair, it sparked controversy that has maintained the media s attention even a half century
after its initial sentencing on April 5, 1951. Throughout the trial, Kaufman did not remain impartial in
front of the jury. In his sentencing speech to the Rosenbergs, he made his opinion that the Rosenbergs
committed a crime worse than death very clear, which creates the question: To what extent did Judge
Irving R. Kaufman s behavior during the Rosenberg/Sobell Trial influence the jury s decision to
prosecute the Rosenbergs? To determine the extent of his influence, the investigation will thoroughly
examine Kaufman s actions during the trial and their primary effect on the jury. The sources being
evaluated for their origins, purpose, values, and limitations are Judgment of Julius and Ethel

Benefits And Benefits Of Alternative Medicine
Chapter 2: What You Need to Know Before You Start
There are as much traditional medicinal techniques as there are diverse cultures in the world. Which is
great news, because it would simply mean that people wishing to use alternative medicine as a way to
heal themselves would have the luxury to choose, the ones that better meet their expectations, or the
ones they believe work the best, as well as the ones that can fit their lifestyles, because, let s face it,
most people would rather look for an easy to follow technique that can be done at home and without
necessarily making an appointment with a professional therapist.
Let s now have a look at the main branches of traditional medicine (at least the ones commonly used
in Western societies today).
The Main Fields of Relative Medicine and Their Benefits
Many therapists are making a fortune by offering to their clients / patients what they call a safer and
more natural alternative than modern medicine. According to the BLS also known as the Bureau of
Labor Statistics, traditional practitioners or therapists make an estimate of $73,400 a year (this is a
median salary). Which is not bad, and indicates that perhaps some disciplines in traditional medicine
pay more than others, as with everything in the Western world, it s all about tendencies and
preferences.
Let s now have a look at some of the most popular fields of traditional medicine, still used today.

Analysis Of Donald Trump s Campaign
In an effort to control mentioning of Donald Trump, close examination of popular media outlets with
large audiences will enable the campaign to see changes to rhetoric or schedule of statement releases
(there are, on average, over 200,000 mentions every month). (Politico Staff, 2016) Campaign staff as
well as Trump himself will be speaking with media in a manner that promotes a tight hold on
delegates over the course of the election. Rallies will require significant control efforts because of
protesters. Press conferences will enable the campaign to release accurate information at appropriate
times. This helps keep information circulating in the public to be favorable. Social media is now a
substantial part of elections. Releasing information and ads on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and
YouTube will generate needed feedback from audiences. Resources will be allocated to these sources
of information because it is the most effective way of controlling what information flows around in
the public, thus allowing the campaign to have a good amount of control on publicity and media
coverage.
The testing aspect occurs at many different ventures around the web from News polls to focus group

Spanish Empire Research Paper
Overall Introduction The Spanish Empire began with the union of Aragon and Castile to create the
unified territory of Spain. The exile of the moors created an attitude towards religious dominion. This
need to go out and convert other people led to the Age of Exploration in which Spain discovered many
new lands and converted millions of natives. This period also created the most prosperous economy
for Spain but would later be detrimental to the empire. New findings of gold and silver flooded the
economy which caused economic problems to coincide with other major factors that caused the
empire to fall. The Spanish Empire has been one of the largest empires in history and influenced many
parts of the world.

Warren Vs Rehnquist Court Case Summary
Running head: WARREN VERSUS REHNQUIST COURTS Warren versus Rehnquist Courts Michael
Walker Park University Abstract The criminal justice system is greatly shaped by the civil rights
safeguarded under the Bill of Rights. The court jurisprudence with regard to national security and civil
liberties largely revolves around the provisions of the Bill of Rights (Baker, 2003). This paper
discusses Chief Justices Earl Warren and William Rehnquist s significant decisions and the effects
they had on the balance between social order maintenance and individual liberties. Warren versus

This decision raised controversy with regard to the exclusion of illegally acquired evidence across all
levels of the United States court system. In Gideon v Wainwright (1963), the court dealt with the issue
of right to counsel for non capital and capital cases. The court was to determine whether states need to
appoint lawyers for defendants who could not pay in both capital and non capital offenses. In a
unanimous 9 0 decision, the court held that the Sixth Amendment applied to all states by virtue of the
14th Amendment, implying that states had to provide counsel to defendants in state criminal trials
involving serious criminal offenses. As a result of this decision, two significant issues were raised: the
right to counsel as provided by the Sixth Amendment and the stages in the criminal justice system at
which the defendant should be allowed counsel. These issues were based on the standards of effective
counsel for purposes of establishing whether the right has been denied to the defendant (Pollak, 1979).
The case of Miranda v Arizona concerned the issue of whether police interrogatory practices on
persons without notifying such persons on their protection against self incrimination and their right to
counsel amounted to the violation of the 5th Amendment. In an unusual decision of 5 4, the court
ruled that incriminating evidence stated by the accused cannot be admissible in a court

The methods of analysis are based on Kvale, Brinkmann, and Plas s (1996) theory. There are five
principal approaches of analysis, including condensation, categorisation, and narrative, interpretation,
and ad hoc. The reviewing method for each question is going to be selected in line with the objectives
of the questions.
4.3.1. Brand Awareness
Among the ten interviewees (see Table 4 1), merely one person can recall her memory of a Creative
Expo Taiwan 2016 s sponsor, Taiyen Culture Creative. The other nine people have the difficulty in
recollecting the memory of the sponsors. Therefore, they require the assistance of the researcher to
remind them of the brand names of the sponsors. The issue of little recognition can affect the profit of
the sponsors and the brand image enhancement negatively based on the theory of Aaker (1991).
Furthermore, based on Aaker s (1991) theory, the reason of the unawareness of Creative Expo Taiwan
2016 sponsors might be the failure of letting the public realise the brands products and services. The
occasion of unfamiliarity and unrecognition happened to almost every interviewees except

The Importance Of The Hollywood Star System
There is no doubt that Hollywood is an industry based on selling movies and what sells movies better
than the marketing of a Hollywood star. An actor or actress can not only make movies successful, but
in addition their images are also profitable. The Hollywood Star System has been very profitable for
Hollywood and contributed to saving Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s when studios found it
financially hard to survive. Once Hollywood realized their star s had financial power there was no
stopping the lengths they would go to in order to sell their star s persona.
The Hollywood Star System originated during the Studio System in which actors and actress were
signed to long term contracts with the studios. Moreover, studios understood that the actor s public
persona was profitable. Studios invested heavily in the actor s public image or persona that they
wanted the public to perceive. Studios had contractual morality clauses that outlined an actor s
behavior so as to not tarnish the image that the studio was promoting. Therefore, the star system was
an economic boon to the studios and this style of contract system lasted from the 1920s to the early
1960s (Star, 2017). However, this left the actors feeling more like a commodity, than actual people or
employees, which created a contentious relationship between the studios and the stars that represented
them. This atmosphere often led to public power struggles , when actors challenged the studios in an
attempt to have

There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes
they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after
the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers,
and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the
bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older
soldiers try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the
medic to tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re
working on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that
show soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best
of them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during
the war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the
perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a
successfully completed mission. And in the eyes of the military men involved, it s a mission they re

Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime section one by Immanuel Kant. Immanuel
Kant begins with discussing the idea that feeling happy or sad does not come from the nature of
external things but more of what a person s ability to let things make them feel pleasure of pain. He
stresses that all people are different. Something that may make someone feel upset can make another
happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the sublime and beautiful. He uses examples to
display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of mountains along with raging storms in
which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On the other hand we can look at
grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those through as a pleasant
sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain beautiful situations can
be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be simple but the beautiful can
be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant strived to get his

Analysis Of To A Louse By Robert Burns
Itchy, tiny, and crawly are words that people use to describe a louse, but Robert Burns s poem To a
Louse tells a different story. Although this poem has a rough exterior, the story should not be
overlooked just because of the different writing style. The poem begins by telling the story of a little
louse peeking out of a sophisticated woman s bonnet. The third person feels that this low life louse
does not belong with a classy lady, but he should be among the beggars. Then, the poem ends pointing
out that the woman is being acknowledged by the bug on her bonnet and not by her looks. The poem
ends with a message in the last stanza saying To see oursels as ithers see us! (Burns). Understanding
the summary of the poem, the story can be further explored by looking at the background and literary
devices. In evaluating this poem, one can gain an insight on the historical context, irony, and how this
literary device affects the audience s thoughts. Robert Burns uses this poem to give the reader an
awareness of his life as a poor Scott at the time. This unique style of language was thought to be a
result of Burns s upbringing. Around the time the poem was written, 1784 to 1786 Robert Burns
struggled economically with his fam and used poetry as a distraction (Shairp). David Sampson in The
Modern Language Review writes Initially his low birth and, in particular, his lack of a liberal
education were regarded as disadvantages for which allowance had to be made in criticism (24).
Robert Burns was someone with a low social class that many believed was why he writes in this style,
but rather than being a disadvantage, people saw this as a way for Burns to be original and not
influenced by poets prior to him (Sampson 25). This childhood could be a reason of why he points out
the woman in gauze and lace to be vain. An article in the Scottish Literary Review writes She also
conveys a strong impression of Burns s own thoughts about this process of poetic development, seeing
in him an extraordinary instance of class anger, class denial and class bargaining on a grand scale
(Andrews). The she in this quote refers to Carol McGuirk who worked on multiple Burns studies. His
pattern for intense feelings about classes

Crvical Cancer Essay
With more than 500,000 new cases being detected each year, cervical cancer is one of the leading
causes of cancer affecting women worldwide.1, 2 A very high burden of cervical cancer mortality is
found in developing countries, where nearly 9 out of 10 cases result in cervical cancer related
mortality among women.3, 4 These healthcare disparities can be largely explained by the lack of
access to effective cervical cancer screening programs in low resource settings, such as Sub Saharan
Africa (SSA), that allow for early detection and treatment.5 African women have an extremely high
incidence of cervical cancer, with approximately 420,000 new cases, half of which die per year.6
Kenya has the second highest incidence of invasive cervical cancer (ICC) in Africa.6,7 The ... Show

However, after controlling for risk behavior, HPV incidence is higher among women with HIV.17 19
Squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL) or cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN), the HPV mediated
cytological and histological precursors of cervical cancer, are more prevalent in HIV infected
women.20, 21 HIV leads to an increased prevalence of HPV and incidence of CIN in HIV infected
women. This maybe due to immune suppression seen with HIV.22 Moreover, cervical lesions are
twice as likely to progress to high grade cervical intra epithelial neoplasia (HGCIN) in HIV infected
women as compared to HIV negative women.23 This could be due to the inability of the immune
system to clear HPV in advanced precancerous and cancerous lesions.21, 24, 25 However, studies
have found that the rates of invasive cervical cancer (ICC) do not increase with decreasing CD4+
counts.26 Researchers attribute this finding to the long latency period prior to the development of
invasive cervical disease, during which, HIV infected women end up dying of other complications of
their HIV before ICC affects

This paper discusses solely about Japan and China, assumed as early modern in this specific context, and the position of women, particularly prostitutes, within them. Drawn from Amy Stanley s Selling Women and Matthew H. Sommer s Sex, Law, and Society in Late Imperial China, it addresses the differences and similarities between the women of China and Japan in sex trade to elaborate how women were subject to the gendered order along socio economic changes. At the first glance, women in China and Japan in the early modern stage were strikingly dissimilar. One of the most conspicuous differences lies in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Chinese women, if a commoner, were required to follow the social system which endowed sexual monopoly of the husbands over the wives, whereas the situation of their Japanese counterparts is similar in that the praising of indentured prostitutes who supported their families was a discourse to help strengthen the patriarchal status system in early Tokugawa period. Certainly, the society changed over time and so was the position of women within it. This is clearly seen in the expansion of sex trade in Japan since the eighteenth century and the emancipation edict of jian status in 1723 in Qing China. However, this does not mean that women were freed from the gendered social cage. As Sommer contends, the edict reinforced the gendered stratum, implicated in that as all women were categorized as commoners, they were ultimately evaluated by their sexual history . In the Japanese case, Stanley argues that Japanese prostitutes were never really autonomous in economic terms. This accusation of being economic autonomous agents by the local elites and peasants precisely evidences the patriarchal anxiety to maintain the gendered order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Analysis Of The Film Invictus Many times, when I think of leaders, I tend to look their heart. Being a leader is more than that but, if a leader doesn t have a good heart than they aren t a good person in my opinion. Therefore, I believe that the film Invictus does a great job at portraying just that. This film follows two real life leaders Nelson Mandela and François Pienaar. Both come together and try to unite South Africa. After Mandela, is jailed for over 27 years his goal is to have peace amongst all the races. One very important thing that is talked about is the essence of leadership. Nelson, states that people are inspired to do greatness and so is everyone else by using the work of others. He only expects more of himself. This is what keeps him going every day and that s how he keeps growing as a person. In the film, Mandela showed qualities of a true leader. He did not hold onto resentment even though he was in jail for almost three decades. In one instance, he wanted races to be united no matter the color of their skin. When his security team needed more people, he made sure that he had white security as well. Mandela s original team did not agree with him and therefore they were furious. The head of security went to speak with Mandela and Mandela told him that change starts with them. By him having different types of races working for him this showcased that it didn t matter the color of their skin. Everyone is equal in the end. Going further into the film, Mandela showed leadership ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Producer Consumer Problem Considered Harmful The Producer Consumer Problem Considered Harmful Shyam Rangrej and Kushang Gonawala Abstract In recent years, much research has been devoted to the exploration of DHTs; on the other hand, few have simulated the construction of architec ture. In this position paper, we demonstrate the study of simulated annealing. Our focus in this paper is not on whether the Internet can be made certifiable, semantic, and optimal, but rather on motivating an analysis of write ahead logging (INK). 1 Introduction Recent advances in stable modalities and au tonomous epistemologies are rarely at odds with access points. The notion that physicists collude with A* search is usually excellent. On a sim ilar note, though such a hypothesis is always a confirmed purpose, it fell in line with our expec tations. The development of voice over IP would greatly amplify the simulation of the Ethernet. Motivated by these observations, the under standing of randomized algorithms and agents have been extensively developed by scholars. The basic tenet of this method is the deploy ment of IPv6. In addition, we allow random ized algorithms [23] to provide self learning the ory without the compelling unification of sensor networks and A* search. Furthermore, the draw back of this type of solution, however, is that the much touted homogeneous algorithm for the in vestigation of spreadsheets by White is Turing complete. • 7. Analysis Of The Article Dear Students Don t Let... Corrupt college professors are ruining students chances of getting a quality education. Students will typically get that hunch that a professor might be out the get them, but in reality those professors are actually out to get the whole student body. When these decrepit professors are in the classroom, they are not hip on modern teaching methods. This is detrimental to a student who just needs a quality education to keep up with the competitive working world that we have come to today. The article Dear Students: Don t Let College Unplug Your Future is an effective argument to convince incoming freshmen at Brigham Young University and current BYU freshmen not to let the academic tradition get in the way of their learning by the use of allusions, colloquial diction, anecdotes and humor to establish a bond of trust between himself and the reader. Throughout the article Gideon Burton uses colloquial diction to put himself at the reader s level. Holy trapped in old school , is a prime example of the many uses of colloquial diction that he has woven in and out of the pages of his article (47). He uses this to have more of an effect on the expected audience. He knows that the young college kids do not want to read ten pages of a verbose professor ranting about how he believes that the internet is needed in college. He would have a limited audience without the diction that he uses. This creates a bond between Gideon and the audience. His use of diction automatically helps him to ... The belief in Doppelgangers and poltergeist has also crossed the ocean over to the U.S. Many people still report poltergeist activity in their homes. Another example of a cultures belief in ghosts is Ireland s and Scotland s (also known as the Celt s) belief in Samhain or All Hallow s Eve. Samhain is a festival that is celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd. Samhain is a time of the year that celebrates the last harvest before the winter comes, and is dedicated to the Lord of the Dead (Guiley 19). The Celt s believe that the dead will come out of their final resting place and mess with the crops. Also, it is believed that communication with the dead is easier during Samhain. It is said that the veil that separates the living from the dead is at its thinnest during this time. The Lord of the Dead holds a sentencing of spirits, where if they were good they can exist in the form of a human, and if they were bad, the form of an animal. Offerings of food and drink are made to the Lord of the Dead so he would not be so severe in his sentencing. Many Celt s would dress up on Samhain to confuse the spirits that were roaming around so they wouldn t stop, but continue to pass them by (Guiley 19). This festival is still celebrated today as Halloween. Currently, Americans hold by some of the old traditions by dressing up and making offerings by handing out candy. • 9. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis TertiusBy Jorge Luis Borges Ana Bahena English 102D Izenberg November 2, 2017 Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius Jorge Luis Borges is widely known for his bizarre short stories that question all aspects of life and our world. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is no different putting into question everything we believe to be true. Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius is a narrative account of an individual who has discovered the fictional land of Uqbar in one of the version of an encyclopedia. Throughout the story, the man keeps investigating more on this place and finds that its importance comes from Tlon, one of the subdivisions of Uqbar, and its literature. Tlon is an ideal world, which the reader later finds out, created by a secret society, Orbis Tertius and has been equipped with its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter how many variations of Uqbar (Ukbar, Ucbar, Ookbar, Oukbahr) he searches for, he cannot seem to find this place. In order to appease the narrator, Casares tells him that [Uqbar] was a region in Iraq or Asia Minor (Borges 68). Casares uses words and places that the narrator knows and connects with so that the narrator can place this fictional world within the real world. Although completely doubtful of his friend, the narrator consults the atlases of Justus Perthes just to make sure that Uqbar is not real, as he believes it to be. This part in the short story, although minute, is crucial because it causes tension between that the narrator believes to be real and that which he doubts to be real. It also features something that looks like a classic bottle of Heinz ketchup, but actually are horizontally sliced tomatoes bundled on top of each other in the shape of the classic ketchup bottle. It can also means sending or receiving information, such as telephone lines or computers (Dictionary.com, 2017). Interpersonal communication is the process by which a persona exchange information, by feeling and meaning through verbal and non verbal communication. It includes face to face communication it equerries you to be present (Gamble and Gamble, n.d. Ch. 1 pp.2 23.2008). This communication can sometimes be done by interpersonal, sometimes a tea or a small group sometimes in a public forum. We are all engaging in interpersonal communication everyday of our lives. Interpersonal communication is not just about what is said is about the language used and how it is said and the non verbal message sent through tone of voice, gestures, body language and facial expressions (2011 2017, 2017). This article will discuss the following things interpersonal communication elements and Nonverbal communication. They are three main interpersonal communication elements they include the communicators, the message and noise(Gamble and Gamble, n.d. Ch. 1 pp.2 23.2008). For a communication to transpire between two people it is easy to think about communication involving a sender and a receiver of a message. However, the problem with this way of seeing a relationship is that it presents communication as a one way process where one person sends the message and the other receives it. While one person is talking and the another is listening. Communications are practically always complex, two way processes, with a sender and a receiver to and from each other instantaneously. In other words, communication is an interactive process. Where one person is speaking the other is listening. While the person who is listening, they are also sending feedback in the form body language they include smiles, nods of the head(Gamble and Gamble, n.d. 2008). Well, from the years 1812 to 1824 the Republican Party was the only political party in the U.S. Due to an increasing amount of voter interest the election of 1828 saw the first presidential candidates from two separate parties. Andrew Jackson was the representative from the Democratic Party, and Henry Clay represented the Whig Party. Both Democratic and Whig parties impacted America in many ways during the 19th century, but one in particular stood out significantly amongst the other. Soon after the war of 1812, the Federalist Party collapsed, leaving just one political party in the U.S. for over a decade. It was not until the election of 1824 that there was an emergence of a second party system. As stated previously one party led by Andrew Jackson was the Democrats. The Democratic Party developed when Andrew Jackson was elected president. The democrats believed in helping the common man. They stayed out of state affairs, favored the working class, and were tolerant of immigrants. The Whig party which consisted of mainly prosperous people formed in opposition to the Democratic Party. Their equality before the law, granted by statute, has become practically a dead letter. They are debarred from filling even moderately high positions, either in the army, or in any public or private capacity. And attempts are made to thrust them out of business also: Don t buy from Jews! (Herzl, II. The Jewish Question). Rather than seeking sympathy, Herzl prefaced his work with these anti Semitic acts in history as a categorical reason for an autonomous Der Judenstaat, which is literally State of the Jews in German, and began the movement now known as Zionism. It is interesting to note, however, that anti Semitism, which may be defined as the prejudice, discrimination and hatred of Jews as a national, ethnic, religious or racial group, (Anti Semitism) permeated history for millennia before Zionism emerged; yet, many scholars regard it as the predominant impetus for the rise of the Zionist movement. The purpose of the article was to determine the disposition, skills, and knowledge of both general and special education teachers as well as the school environment. The research suggests that teachers must have open mindedness and be self aware when they teach in an inclusive classroom. Many teachers provided answers that suggest that they understand the need and have the willingness but lack the skills and knowledge while some simply lack the needed disposition to work with children with disabilities. As a result, we can see that there is a need to further develop teacher s professional skills as well as developing the emotional fortitude that is required to be effective at teaching in a inclusive classroom. Literature Review Inclusive education is defined as an appropriate learning environment for students with disabilities while in the general education (Lamar Dukes and Dukes 2005). We have seen more and more students with disabilities being placed in inclusive environments around the U.S and abroad (Cramer and Nevin 2006; Etscheldt 2006; Lindsay 2007; US Department of Education 2007). One of the main questions posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah, is whether or not it is possible to be friendly with the Englishmen. The book serves as an example as to how difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already present. This question is answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in the novel and analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal relationships. Set in British colonial India, the novel explores cultural, religious, and political barriers and the hostility between the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country already known to be diverse within itself and containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and distinct traditions, was unaware of a society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity. • 25. A Defense Of Abortion By Judith Jarvis Thomson Abortion is a major issue that has lead to many different opinions, ideas, and various debates. Proponents for abortion often use the fact that a fetus is not a moral person to justify their position, whereas those who are against the issue often claim that a fetus is a moral person and should deserve every right a moral person has, including the right to live. Judith Jarvis Thomson, however, takes an entirely different approach. In her article A Defense of Abortion Thomson argues that even if a fetus is considered to be a human being does not automatically ensure it the right to live. Thomson s position leads to many oppositions and critiques. Foot s article, for example, Killing versus Letting Die attempts to point out the flaws in Thomson s argument. Foot claims that a fetus status must be considered when addressing the issue of abortion and that Thomson s argument is invalid. Although Thomson s argument may seem valid at first, Foot does offer considerable evidence critiquing the validity of Thomson s argument. One of the main issues Foot has with Thomson s argument is the analogy her paper consistently relies on to relay her position. In the analogy, a person is kidnapped and placed in a kidney machine that is connected to an ill violinist, who is in desperate need of a functioning kidney. With that analogy, Thomson argues that an individual s right to agency trumps over another person s right to life if that person has to depend on and is a burden to the ... Which is great news, because it would simply mean that people wishing to use alternative medicine as a way to heal themselves would have the luxury to choose, the ones that better meet their expectations, or the ones they believe work the best, as well as the ones that can fit their lifestyles, because, let s face it, most people would rather look for an easy to follow technique that can be done at home and without necessarily making an appointment with a professional therapist. Let s now have a look at the main branches of traditional medicine (at least the ones commonly used in Western societies today). The Main Fields of Relative Medicine and Their Benefits Many therapists are making a fortune by offering to their clients / patients what they call a safer and more natural alternative than modern medicine. According to the BLS also known as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, traditional practitioners or therapists make an estimate of $73,400 a year (this is a median salary). Which is not bad, and indicates that perhaps some disciplines in traditional medicine pay more than others, as with everything in the Western world, it s all about tendencies and preferences. Let s now have a look at some of the most popular fields of traditional medicine, still used today. Herbalism Herbalism, as its name indicates it is the use of plants for ... (Politico Staff, 2016) Campaign staff as well as Trump himself will be speaking with media in a manner that promotes a tight hold on delegates over the course of the election. Rallies will require significant control efforts because of protesters. Press conferences will enable the campaign to release accurate information at appropriate times. This helps keep information circulating in the public to be favorable. Social media is now a substantial part of elections. The exile of the moors created an attitude towards religious dominion. This need to go out and convert other people led to the Age of Exploration in which Spain discovered many new lands and converted millions of natives. This period also created the most prosperous economy for Spain but would later be detrimental to the empire. New findings of gold and silver flooded the economy which caused economic problems to coincide with other major factors that caused the empire to fall. Warren Vs Rehnquist Court Case Summary Running head: WARREN VERSUS REHNQUIST COURTS Warren versus Rehnquist Courts Michael Walker Park University Abstract The criminal justice system is greatly shaped by the civil rights safeguarded under the Bill of Rights. The court jurisprudence with regard to national security and civil liberties largely revolves around the provisions of the Bill of Rights (Baker, 2003). This paper discusses Chief Justices Earl Warren and William Rehnquist s significant decisions and the effects they had on the balance between social order maintenance and individual liberties. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This decision raised controversy with regard to the exclusion of illegally acquired evidence across all levels of the United States court system. In Gideon v Wainwright (1963), the court dealt with the issue of right to counsel for non capital and capital cases. The court was to determine whether states need to appoint lawyers for defendants who could not pay in both capital and non capital offenses. In a unanimous 9 0 decision, the court held that the Sixth Amendment applied to all states by virtue of the 14th Amendment, implying that states had to provide counsel to defendants in state criminal trials involving serious criminal offenses. As a result of this decision, two significant issues were raised: the right to counsel as provided by the Sixth Amendment and the stages in the criminal justice system at which the defendant should be allowed counsel. These issues were based on the standards of effective counsel for purposes of establishing whether the right has been denied to the defendant (Pollak, 1979). The case of Miranda v Arizona concerned the issue of whether police interrogatory practices on persons without notifying such persons on their protection against self incrimination and their right to counsel amounted to the violation of the 5th Amendment. In an unusual decision of 5 4, the court ruled that incriminating evidence stated by the accused cannot be admissible in a court ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are five principal approaches of analysis, including condensation, categorisation, and narrative, interpretation, and ad hoc. The reviewing method for each question is going to be selected in line with the objectives of the questions. 4.3.1. Brand Awareness Among the ten interviewees (see Table 4 1), merely one person can recall her memory of a Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 s sponsor, Taiyen Culture Creative. The other nine people have the difficulty in recollecting the memory of the sponsors. Therefore, they require the assistance of the researcher to remind them of the brand names of the sponsors. The issue of little recognition can affect the profit of the sponsors and the brand image enhancement negatively based on the theory of Aaker (1991). Furthermore, based on Aaker s (1991) theory, the reason of the unawareness of Creative Expo Taiwan 2016 sponsors might be the failure of letting the public realise the brands products and services. The occasion of unfamiliarity and unrecognition happened to almost every interviewees except Interviewee J because of her extended work experience and higher economic situation (see Table 4 2). • 38. The Importance Of The Hollywood Star System There is no doubt that Hollywood is an industry based on selling movies and what sells movies better than the marketing of a Hollywood star. An actor or actress can not only make movies successful, but in addition their images are also profitable. The Hollywood Star System has been very profitable for Hollywood and contributed to saving Hollywood in the late 1920s and 1930s when studios found it financially hard to survive. Once Hollywood realized their star s had financial power there was no stopping the lengths they would go to in order to sell their star s persona. The Hollywood Star System originated during the Studio System in which actors and actress were signed to long term contracts with the studios. Moreover, studios understood that the actor s public persona was profitable. Studios invested heavily in the actor s public image or persona that they wanted the public to perceive. Studios had contractual morality clauses that outlined an actor s behavior so as to not tarnish the image that the studio was promoting. Therefore, the star system was an economic boon to the studios and this style of contract system lasted from the 1920s to the early 1960s (Star, 2017). However, this left the actors feeling more like a commodity, than actual people or employees, which created a contentious relationship between the studios and the stars that represented them. This atmosphere often led to public power struggles , when actors challenged the studios in an attempt to have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author, Mark Bowden, writes about the Battle Of Mogadishu that occurred from December 1992 to October 1993, and includes useful information within his novel. He focuses on the truth about war, weaknesses and strengths within it, and also lessons that can be learned from these subjects. The subject of war is often romanticized. There are quite a few positive characteristics within the troops as well that make up for the mistakes they may have made. One main one is that they always have each others backs. The Deltas look after the Rangers, and act as their role models. It was as if the Rangers saw the D Boys as their big brothers, and since their big brothers were around, everything would be okay (Bowden 234). This shows the bond between the troops, and adds emotion to the novel. Another characteristic is that the older soldiers try to be positive throughout the war, even if situations got tough. Smith was now asking the medic to tell his parents and family good bye . . . Hold on tight, Schmid told the dying corporal. We re working on getting you out of here (Bowden 238). There are also some points within the novel that show soldiers making jokes about their situation, instead of letting it bring them down and get the best of them. The final trait is that even throughout all of the horrors the two teams went through during the war, they still did their best and pushed through until it was finally over. There s no doubt that the perception people have of this episode is that it was a total fiasco. Bowden says. But this was a successfully completed mission. And in the eyes of the military men involved, it s a mission they re very proud of (EDIT). So even though these teams saw, heard, and participated in horrifying events, in ... Immanuel Kant s Observations Of Enjoyment And Ralph Emerson The readings of Immanuel Kant s Observations of Enjoyment and Ralph Emerson s pieces titled Art and Circles displayed a kind of similarity between the two very different writers. Throughout my essay you will see just how they are similar and what one would possible think of the others ideas. You see no ideas are necessarily right or wrong ultimately like in life people do not always agree In Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and Sublime section one by Immanuel Kant. Immanuel Kant begins with discussing the idea that feeling happy or sad does not come from the nature of external things but more of what a person s ability to let things make them feel pleasure of pain. He stresses that all people are different. Something that may make someone feel upset can make another happy. Kant then continues to talk about the feeling of the sublime and beautiful. He uses examples to display his opinions. First he begins to talk about the sight of mountains along with raging storms in which beautiful things enjoyment can be seen as well as horror. On the other hand we can look at grazing flocks and Homers portrayal of the girdle of Venus. Kant sees those through as a pleasant sensation with joy and smiling. You can see that the difference is that certain beautiful situations can be seen as horror. Kant says that sublime must always be great. It must be simple but the beautiful can be adorned and ornamented. From the reading I can conclude that Kant strived to get his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Analysis Of To A Louse By Robert Burns Itchy, tiny, and crawly are words that people use to describe a louse, but Robert Burns s poem To a Louse tells a different story. Although this poem has a rough exterior, the story should not be overlooked just because of the different writing style. The poem begins by telling the story of a little louse peeking out of a sophisticated woman s bonnet. The third person feels that this low life louse does not belong with a classy lady, but he should be among the beggars. Then, the poem ends pointing out that the woman is being acknowledged by the bug on her bonnet and not by her looks. The poem ends with a message in the last stanza saying To see oursels as ithers see us! (Burns). Understanding the summary of the poem, the story can be further explored by looking at the background and literary devices. In evaluating this poem, one can gain an insight on the historical context, irony, and how this literary device affects the audience s thoughts. Robert Burns uses this poem to give the reader an awareness of his life as a poor Scott at the time. This unique style of language was thought to be a result of Burns s upbringing. Around the time the poem was written, 1784 to 1786 Robert Burns struggled economically with his fam and used poetry as a distraction (Shairp). David Sampson in The Modern Language Review writes Initially his low birth and, in particular, his lack of a liberal education were regarded as disadvantages for which allowance had to be made in criticism (24). Robert Burns was someone with a low social class that many believed was why he writes in this style, but rather than being a disadvantage, people saw this as a way for Burns to be original and not influenced by poets prior to him (Sampson 25). This childhood could be a reason of why he points out the woman in gauze and lace to be vain. An article in the Scottish Literary Review writes She also conveys a strong impression of Burns s own thoughts about this process of poetic development, seeing in him an extraordinary instance of class anger, class denial and class bargaining on a grand scale (Andrews). The she in this quote refers to Carol McGuirk who worked on multiple Burns studies. His pattern for intense feelings about classes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
