When Adults Fail, Children Change Essay
The Bluest Eye is a novel written by Toni Morrison that reveals many lessons and conflicts
between young and adult characters of color. The setting takes place during the 1940s in Lorain,
Ohio. The dominant speaker of this book is a nine year old girl named Claudia MacTeer who gets
to know many of her neighbors. As a result of this, Claudia learns numerous lessons from her
experience with the citizens of Lorain. Besides Claudia, The Bluest Eye is also told through many
characters for readers to understand the connection between each of the adults and children. Many
parents in the novel like Geraldine and Pauline Breedlove clearly show readers how adults change
their own children. Furthermore, other adult characters like Cholly Breedlove... Show more content

As he grew older, he learned how to direct his hatred to the cat and spent some happy moments
watching it suffer (86). Junior is affected by the failure of his mother to parent well. Instead she
worries about appearance, cleanliness, and her cat which brings separation between her and
Junior. Because he is angry and hurt by this, he abuses his mother s cat who receives all the
affection he would like to have from Geraldine. Another example of the failure of adults is seen
in Pauline Breedlove. Just as Geraldine focuses more on her desires than her child, so does
Pauline in ways that also drift her away from her family. Mrs. Breedlove is a black woman who
dreams she can somehow make her family appreciate her but after Pauline figures that she could
not, she finds meaning in romantic movies and the Fisher Family the white family she works
for. The narrator tells readers, More and more she neglected her house, her children, her man
they were like the afterthoughts one has just before sleep, the early morning and late evening
edges of her day, the dark edges that made the daily life with the Fishers lighter, more delicate,
more lovely. . .Here she found beauty, order, cleanliness, and praise (127). Pauline Breedlove
works for a family that is not her family and because the Fishers give her what she desires, she
ends up neglecting her own family. Mrs. Breedlove fails to

Human Cloning
Ethical Concerns on Human Cloning Human cloning, one of the most fascinating chapters in
scientific history. Cloning goes back to the first mammal that was successfully cloned, Dolly the
sheep. Dolly was duplicated on July 5, 1996 and since then the world has had many scientific
advancements. Abby Norman, author of How Close Are We to Successfully Cloningour First
Human said that other types of mammals such as goats, rats, pigs, mice, and rabbits have been
cloned successfully but cloning other mammals and primates may not be so easy. Scientists are
not yet able to successfully clone a human, but believe they will be able to do so by the 2020s.
(Norman) Along with such a controversial topic there comes many who would agree that copying a
human would be beneficial while on the opposing side some would argue that replicating someone
s genes is ethically wrong. Cloning is a very important topic and according to the President s
Council on Bioethics, The prospect of cloning to produce children, which would be a radically new
form of procreation, raises deep concerns about identity and individuality, the meaning of having
children, the difference between procreation and manufacture, and the relationship between the
generations ( Human Cloning and Human Dignity: An Ethical Inquiry , 2017). Although useful for
studying genetic diseases, human cloning produces issues as to whether it should be allowed or
not because some believe the copy will have the same personality and

Is Ice Hockey Hard
Is hockey hard? This is what former NHL star Brendan Shanahan had to say about that question,
I don t know, you tell me. We need to have the strength and power of a football player, the
stamina of a marathon runner, and the concentration of a brain surgeon. But we need to put all
this together while moving at high speeds on a cold and slippery surface while 5 other guys use
clubs to try and kill us, oh yeah did I mention that this whole time we re standing on blades 1/8 of

Coach Yoast shows that you have to do the right thing regardless of the cost. Strive for
excellence, and leave no doubt. In the championship game we had a two to one lead with fifteen
seconds left. Coach called my name and told my line to get on the ice. I climbed over the boards
clutching my stick between my hands with only one thing on my mind, winning a National
Championship. The next fifteen seconds were about to be the most intense moments of my life.
This is because only fifteen seconds lies between me and an undisputed championship. As I
squared up for the faceoff a storm of cheers and jeers flooded my ears, making it hard to stay
focused. The referee was ready to drop the puck and the game was underway. I lost the faceoff
and the other team began to storm down the ice. Nine seconds, eight seconds the clock was
ticking and we were stuck in the defensive zone. Seven seconds, six seconds shots were flying at
our goalie left and right one save after another, as he maintained the lead. The last five seconds
seemed like a lifetime. Fighting in the corner for the puck time finally expired and we, were
National Champions. After all we had been through in just over a week the taste of victory never
seemed so sweet. We came to play and we left no

The Middle Passage Analysis
In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is
analyzed and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans
through the four hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves
suffered through, from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be
auctioned off as no more than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of
the Middle Passage and the trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it
in a different light. The novel follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the
horrors of the capture, forced migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective
within the book is of a white girl named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an
indentured servant. Yet what both the documentary and novel show are the unbreakable spirits of
the ones who were forced to withstand the barbarous actions of the people who imprisoned them....

entirety at once, the presentation of the film had many great points. The sound effects and voice
recordings of the young children on the ship on their way to America both appealed to the empathy
and compassion for the wrongs of the past. Visuals such as pictures and drawings from the time

September 11, 2001, is a date that will forever be remembered not because of the terrorists that
attacked America, but for the patriots who sacrificed their lives to save hundreds of innocent
people. 9/11 is an attack by Islamic hijackers. The main strike is on the World Trade Centers. There
were four planes included in the invasions. They included: Flight 93, Flight 11, Flight 175, and
Flight 77. After the raids America had some plans and new thoughts.
During the attacks, the motives that the terrorists had were awful. I do not agree with the motives,
but they had some. Like how 9/11 was not the first World Trade Centerincursion ( September 11,
2001). In 1993 a truck ended up exploding in the parking garage of the World Trade Centers...

The dragons are good luck and powerful in China but in other cultures the dragon is slain by the
knight in shining armor or is the bad guy.
The dragon is unique. In many different cultures the dragon can be good, but in others it can be
bad. If the dragon is a symbol of China than there has to be a resemblance between China and the
dragon. China has invented a large percent of the products that people use everyday. For example,
the toothbrush was made in 1498 from bamboo and the neck hairs of a hog. Like in China the
dragon represents goodness and inventions are goodness and help. But China is widely known for
their pollution, which is negative. Connecting with other cultures the dragon is a negative character
just like the pollution is negative.

Tips On Picking An Auto Body Repair Shop In, Near or Around Ontario California
As drivers we spend alot of time on the road and the chances of needing to locate a reputable auto
body repair shop in or near Ontario California may come up. It can be a frustrating and daunting
task searching for the right Ontario auto body repair shop that can perform quality work. Most
people don t know where to start. Here are some tips on identifying and choosing the Ontario auto
body repair shop for you. Santana Auto Body located in Ontario California offers an all in one stop
shop delivering full service auto body repair services.
Mike Santana of Santana Auto Body Ontario California shares the beginning step in locating an
auto body repair shop is to find one that will repair your car so that it looks like the collision
never happened. Mediocre auto body repair shops will only be able to fix your car to a point
called pre loss condition. Pre loss condition is when the mechanic fixes your car s appearance,
body structure, and keeps your cars mechanical reliability but the car isn t 100% back to it s original
condition. Mike Santana of Santana Auto Body is dedicated to protecting your investment. Santana

reality all good auto body repair shops guarantee their work for as long as you own that car. If an

The Black College And University Tour This Year
Turn your dreams into reality is the motto that guides me every day in life. It would be an honor
to receive the Greater Grand Rapids Jack and Jill College Tour Scholarship award to attend the
Historical Black College University tour this year. I believe education is the key that opens up
many doors and opportunities. Like my mentor always tell me education increases your value in
life, because the more you know the more you can apply, and the more you apply the more you
will obtain. Attending the HBCU tour will not only open my eyes to the opportunities and
culture of our people, but I believe it will inspire me to push beyond all obstacles by gaining self
awareness of my identity as a Black Man in America, allow me to see more successful people in
higher learning institutions that looks like me, but also provide me with an experience that I would
love to continue one day by attending and earning an degree from a HBCU.
Going to college has always been a dream of mines that I will turn into reality. I have always
wanted to further my education beyond high school. A college degree is required for the career I
want to pursue. I plan to study Sociology to become a Social Worker, because I truly value and am
passionate about helping people. Social workers engage and discuss with clients about the things

The Effects Of Gambling Addiction On The Age
Research Question
How can the amounts gambled by young adults be reduced, and what is the path to overcoming
instances of gambling addiction affecting this age group?
Background
Pathological gambling, also known as Ludomania, is an addiction and is clinically referred to as
a disorder that can affect people of all ages. Young people between the ages of 18 24 spend more
money to gamble than any other age group. This has become a growing problem over the years as
our technology has advanced, causing many young people to have little or no money by the age of
30. Many adult pathologic gamblers report having developed gambling problems during their
teenage years. (Delfabbro, P, Gambling Research Australia, A review of Australian Gambling
Research, August 2008) Although the common perception is that it is just irresponsible and bad
behavior, it is actually much more complex than that. Pathological gambling is an addiction rooted
in the brain, just like a drug or alcohol addiction. As this generation has been brought up with the
new and upcoming technology, many young people have started some form of gambling. Whether
it is betting on a sports game, online shopping or even buying a scratchy ticket, they have gambled
money away. This leads us to the biggest question. How can we minimize this?
Intervention aims
Like an alcohol or drug addiction, pathological gambling is a long term disorder that tends to get
worse without treatment. Even with treatment, it can be quite common to

The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team Case Study
The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) has undergone significant changes in the past three
years. The brigade was once one of the best maneuver brigades in Forces Command (FORSCOM)
but is now riddled with issues ranging from lack of a clear vision for the unit to low morale, and
ethical concerns. As the incoming BrigadeCommander, I have had 30 days to assess the unit and
review historical information and an evaluation from the Centers for Army Lessons Learned
(CALL). The most critical leadership problem in the 4th ABCT is the lack of a clear vision for
the unit. I will use Kotter s Eight Step Change Model and the Seven Step Vision Process along
with Kotter s Eight Step change model to establish goals and implement organizational change.
By implementing change using Kotter s model and the seven step vision process, I can alleviate
some of the underlying morale and ethical issues while providing a picture of the future. The
first step of Kotter s Eight Step Change Model is creating a sense of urgency. 4th ABCT has a
systemic leadership problem. One way to create a sense of urgency is through dissatisfaction. I
will start by suspending or removing leaders currently displaying unethical behavior. Not only am I
creating dissatisfaction, but also an opportunity to use talent management to assign leaders within
the brigade who will help support change. I will suspend CPT Seth Cooper and perform a
Commander s inquiry prior to pursuing a 15 6 investigation. This will show the

Traveling Is The World s Piggy Bank
Traveling Effects
Going to a new place can be scary and exciting, while visiting relatives can be familiar and .
Traveling has many effects overall The point is the sky is the limit; traveling gives personal
insight into the world beyond the bedroom window; it gives us a license to become a citizen of the
world.
First, traveling is the world s piggy bank. In the year 2015 a total of 650.8 billion dollars was
spent by domestic and international travelers on leisure ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). For
example, the money spent on those amazing adventures available. Like scuba diving,
parasailing, and even trying new foods. A burger for example will cost more in a different
location then it might at home. The cost of living plays into how much should be saved,
depending on the destination. Likewise, the economy worldwide profits from all the traveling
that goes on. The tax revenue for 2015 was 147.9 billion dollars ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ).
Thus proving traveling is encouraged and a great way to spend without feeling guilty.
Furthermore, it helps build jobs! 15.1 million to be exact in the year 2015 ( U.S. Travel Answer
Sheet ). How wonderful it is to be helping the world especially those third world countries. Tourism
is encouraged and it is providing profit for the world instead of just one country. What a great way
to add points to a world citizen license.
Equally, important traveling is life changing. By going outside, the usual area, city, state, country

Paper On Reflections On Revival
NTERACTIVE PAPER ON REFLECTIONS ON REVIVAL
By Charles G. Finney
Nupur James
HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY II:
THE REFORMATION AND MODERN CHURCH
HIST 0562
INSTRUCTOR: REV. DR. RON KYDD 1st April 2015
Mail Box # 344
Letters on Revival is written by The Rev. Charles G. Finneyin year 1946 is series of 32 letters
addressed to Ministers of the Gospel and all interested person. It is Finney s Reflections on
revival and revival meetings, written in 1845 46, and distributed in the Oberlin Evangelist, the bi
weekly official publication of Oberlin College, where Rev. Finney was Professor of Theology and
in the end, President of the College. Finney s writing reflects a lot about revival; that it is a method
for saving souls as well as changing people and, eventually, the society. Through revivalism, the
church would introduce the millennial kingdom to the world. Finney acknowledges that revival
brought good change radically and also that Christians ought to be effectively involved in
transforming all areas of community.
This paper will aim to involve a close reading on Reflection on Revivals by Charles G. Finny, We
will be discussing seven different letters which He has address to the Ministers of the Gospel and
brothers. He talks about revival but he designed his religious theology to fit his revivalist practices.
His unique perspective of original sin incorporated an improvement, the general nature of depravity,
and a lack of teaching of attribution. Three

Clinical Reflection
This last week at clinical was my favorite week of the entire semester. I could have spent all day
in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given at
Cardons. I started in the unit where the babies were not critically ill, but still needed some
developmental assistance before they could be discharged home. I cared for a set of twins who
were on total parenteral nutrition (TPN), were fed breastmilk through their nasogastric tube
(NG), and were not on any medications. Their mom is very active in their care and seemed
thankful of the nursing staff for taking such good care of her babies. She comes to visit them

I got to see many of them on an oscillatory ventilation. It was interesting to know that a successful
oscillator will make their lower belly jiggle, that s when you know everything is working right
and it is helping them breathe. I was able to see an intravenous (IV) line inserted on a baby and it
took many tries, but finally was a success. I loved how much teamwork was involved in the
NICU, they were always helping and reaching out to see if anyone needed anything. The
highlight of my day was being able to assist in a peripherally inserted central catheter, also known
as a PICC line. It took almost two hours to complete the entire procedure. After the baby was
given fentanyl to help calm and partially sedate her, I began to clean her right leg from heel to
high thigh with iodine. The PICC line nurse wanted to go in through the great saphenous vein, and
used her fancy light to find the best vein the baby had, which would be the most direct route to the
heart. She inserted the needle into the skin just as a normal IV would be started, then introduced
the catheter which she cut to nineteen centimeters. She proceeded to insert the catheter without
resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and check the placement. The x ray showed
that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The nurse pulled back the catheter and
started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was in the heart, just a little high.
She pulled the catheter out three centimeters and it was now in the correct place with great blood
return. It was a length but very neat process to have been a part

( #2 ) Even today we as students of the world see Aristotle s influence around us. Especially in the
forms of entertainment that we seek, such as movies. The film Gladiator contains the need for
revenge; just like the many European literatures before its time. It also follows Aristotle s
guidelines of tragedy. The protagonist, Maximus, suffers from a thirst of revenge for the murderer
of his family. As the audience watches this film they are taken through a roller coaster of emotion
such as, sympathy for Maximus and fear for his defeat. In the film Gladiator, written by Ridley Scott
, follows Aristotle s guide to tragedy by depicting the protagonist s fatal flaw of vengefulness, the
audience s emotions of fear and pity while watching this film. Throughout the course of the film it
is obvious that Maximus s need to avenge the death of his wife and child is the driving force
behind his actions, and inevitable death. After a crucial change in power for the Roman empire,
General Maximus Decimus Meridiusis put into a tough situation. The new Caesar holds a grudge
against Maximus and takes it out on his wife and son, creating a storm of rage within the Roman
General. Driven by his need for blood, Maximus uses his newfound life as a Gladiator to get close
to the emperor. Near the end of the film Maximus and the emperor finally clash, and the duel brings
about the death of each

Essay on The Internet
When historians look back at the latter half of the twentieth century, they might well remember it
less as the time man walked on the moon and more as the time when the Internet was born. The
Advancement Research Projects Agency Network, known as the ARPANET, was developed in the
1960 s by the U.S. Department of Defense. This was the world s first operational informational
sharing network, and the predecessor of what we now call the Internet. Although the creation of the
Internet was primarily to allow the sharing of resources, its true popularity came in the ability to
send and receive mail. This communicationprocess, known as electronic mail or more commonly
referred to as e mail, has now evolved into the most used application on... Show more content on

This technology meant that the conversations that were previously being e mailed and took
seconds to send and receive, were now taking place in real time. Instant Messaging software is
simply a program placed on a computer that connects to an on line service, similar to a phone line
connecting to the operator. This software permits computers to relay conversations over the
Internet, which in turn means two or more people can talk or correspond simultaneously. Instant
Messaging eliminates any delay issues with direct communication; however e mail also evolved
into another forum through Weblogs.
First introduced in the mid to late 1990 s, Weblogs, also referred to as blogs, are Internet
webpages where entries are made similar to a journal or a diary. These personal views or
updates to a particular subject are presented in reverse sequential order. Blogs can cover an array
of topics including food, politics or local news, but most function as more personal online diaries.
A typical blog combines text, images and links to other blogs, web pages and other media related
to its topic. Most blogs are primarily textual and include photographs, videos or audio. Without any
discretion on the choice of topic, the questions becomes why would anyone want to air their
personal problems or desires for everyone to see?
According to an article entitled The Blog Phenomenon, author John Dvorak points out a few
obvious suggestions as to why participants in

Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy
Myotonic muscular dystrophy, an inherited disease, is the most common type of muscle disease
among adults, and is frequently associated with flaccid dysarthria (Duffy, 2013 p. 98). Myotonic
muscular dystrophy is characterized by muscle weakness and mytonia, in the jaw, face, and neck
muscles, which can significantly affect speech, due to the muscles inability to adequately produce a
contract constrict sequence required for speech production (de Swart, 2004). This muscle
insufficiency as a result of muscle disease can lead to reduced loudness, speech rate, and
intelligibility, as well as hypernasality, hoarseness, and monotone voice (de Swart, 2004). However,

Herodotus And Vespucci Essay
But while Herodotus and Vespucci use similar strategies in evoking the marvels of the far
reaches of the world, what of the darker shadows on the edge? Both authors do claim that
monstrous things can hide on the fringes of maps, and as Grafton points out, Vespucci s
descriptions of his monsters often echo older texts like the Histories. For example, both
Europeans of Vespucci s day and Herodotus s Greeks loathed cannibalism, so cannibals serve as
appropriate menaces for the reader seeking knowledge about the world s farther regions. In his
Histories, Herodotus writes that a people called the Padaei have a custom that when a man falls
sick, his closest companions kill him because, as they put it, their meat would be spoiled if he were

Therefore, these monsters exist hazily in the Histories, but still exist. In contrast, Vespucci s
monsters remain only people. In his letters, the cannibals seem the most monstrous in actions,
but they do not appear physically abnormal to Vespucci s eyes as a dog headed man would be to
Herodotus or the Libyans. Vespucci characterizes the peoples of the New World, cannibals
included, as having big, solid and well proportioned bodies , a far cry from having eyes in the
chest (48). While other tribes not mentioned as practicing cannibalism attack Vespucci, he
describes the tribe of cannibals as being of a quite courteous disposition and fine stature , noting
that they do not devour their own people or women in stark contrast to Herodotus s own
cannibals (Vespucci 9). As a result, in Vespucci s work, select actions create monsters, not
immutable physical qualities. While a nuanced difference, it proves vital one when considering
where the authors sit in history. Herodotus s Greece did not seek widespread colonization of the
lands where dog headed peoples reside, and so Herodotus may leave his monsters to the mists of
rumor. Vespucci, however, resides at the forefront of a wave of conquest that eventually reshapes
both the New and Old Worlds irrevocably. He goes to the Americas with a divergent agenda than

Persuasive Essay On Youth Sports
There has been a lot of debate over the past years involving youth sports, whether you should let
your child play or not. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball are among the sports
parents contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate as well is what is the perfect
age they should start playing sports. However, if your child is under 10 years old you should not
put your child in youth sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the
coaches and officials during games, and coaches only want to win on gameday. More and more you
hear or read evidence of bad coachingin youth sports. You have probably seen it firsthand. A
coach throwing their clipboard, yelling at a child for missing up, and even telling the kids at
halftime what they did wrong instead of what they did right. Every year if you keep up with youth
sports around the nation not just your state, you can read about how parents are complaining about
having a bad coach for their child, how they did not play or was not taught the sport. Some coaches
are only coaching because they signed up their child to play a sport and they believe they can
teach him and others the sport. Knowing the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport is two
different things. Some believe they need to run their program for 10 and under like a boot camp
and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of other kids. Most coaches in leagues are not
certified to coach so anyone can be a coach, if you pass a background check. This process does not
make every person who signs up their child for youth sports very confident.
A background check only consists of, depending on the organization, criminal chargers
especially any involved with children. Since a coach volunteers their time rarely do they need
to be certified in coaching or ask to take special coaching classes. A coach who usually
volunteers is a parent of a child who is playing, who have themselves played an organized sport
before. An example of Parents interfering with officials and coaches in a game is when, there is a
bad call by an official at any sporting event, you will see a negative response from the parents of
that team. Officiating is a judgement based on

there is no right or wrong, just different, was something I had not been able to fully understand
until my foreign study experience. For example, Argentineans ability to vote before they could

It became apparent that easing my way in wouldn t be an option, having just six weeks to make my

sharing of drinks was difficult, as I watched teachers and students drinking from the same metal

The Ebola Virus Affected The World
Ebola hemorrhagic fever, also known as Ebola is a deadly disease that can be caused by one of
the various types of Ebola viruses. Ebola affects primarily humans or nonhuman primates like
chimpanzees or gorillas, but recent research has discovered that other animals such as dogs,
antelopes, fruit bats, and pigs can be affected as well. It is believed that fruit bats are reservoir hosts
to the virus and are the main method that the virus is transmitted to other beings. The virus is
usually introduced to humans through blood, secretions, or organs or meat of animals that have been
infected, but have not been thoroughly cooked or cleansed.

Democratic Republic of Congo. The different species of Ebola include: Bundibugyo, Reston, TaГЇ

One of the more straight forward and raw legal documents that we read for class, called the
capitularies, were helpful in illustrating this fact. The capitularies were written throughout the late
700s and early in 800s and many of the problems addressed/rules made had to do with bishops
and churches. The capitularies hold many rules that can be seen as rules that the churches should
have been able to control themselves, which could be why they fought for more power later on.
One examples of these rules is the capitulary number five of the Paderborn capitularies that says, If
anyone kills a bishop or a priest or a deacon, he shall likewise pay with his life, (Loyn, 300). This
rule definitely seems like something that the churches should have control of themselves, but alas
rules like this were put into the hands of the king/lords of this time. The church was very much
controlled by a higher power in the early medieval times, which is evident from the difference if the
people in control that wrote the capitularies from the Carolingian Dynasty and the people that wrote
the canons when Innocent III was

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bio Warfare
1. INTRODUCTION Disasters are sudden, unpredictable, calamitous event, bringing great
damage and devastation to life and property. Disasters can be Natural like earth quake, land
slide, tsunami, cyclones, flood or drought and major accidents. It can also be man made like war
and terrorism, both in war and terrorism chemical, biological or radiological agent can be used.
In any of these situations, significant social, environmental and economical impact would
occur. Casualties following disasters, and major accidents could escalate very rapidly if
necessary preventive methods are not followed. Infectious disease disasters consist of biological
attack, emerging infectious disease outbreaks, and pandemics. There are a broad range of
potential biological agents, including bacteria, viruses, and toxins (of microbial, plant, or
animal origin) used as bio warfare or bioterrorism. Bio warfare has the potential to result in high
morbidity and mortality, because aerosolized biological agents can infect or kill many people in a
short period of time. 1.1 Biological Warfare (BW) Biological warfare or bio warfare is the use of

Using The Root Cause Analysis And `` 5 Whys ``
I am uncomfortable putting work conflicts on the internet, and even more uncomfortable exposing
personal relationship conflicts that should inherently be private. I also do not watch the news,
because I do not trust it as a source of information. Thus, for the purposes of this essay, I shall
describe the most recent inner conflict of note that I have experienced instead, and analyse it using
the Root Cause Analysisand 5 Whys strategies that were discussed in this week s reading.
While it is not a particularly recent source of conflict it happened about three or four years ago it
resulted in some life changing events. I shall briefly describe the timeline: in January 2012, I
move to New Zealand to study for a diploma in 3D Animation and VFX. By November 2012, I
had decided that I no longer wanted to be studying towards a qualification in the VFX industry,
and decided to enrol in one of the universities in Auckland for a degree in Hospitality instead. By
March 2013, I had turned right around, and enrolled in a different school for a degree in none other
than 3D Animation and VFX.
Using these two strategies, I shall explore the reasons for these changes I made what made me
deflect from my original course, and then later why I came back to it. Many of these observations
are made in hindsight, so may sound more logical and rational than I truly was at the time.
First, I shall consider why I left my first course of study using the Root Cause Analysis strategy:

Emily Dickinson s Poem, Because I Could Not Stop For Death
Death is everywhere. From the insect you killed this morning to the family member you lose
recently, there is no force stronger than death. Emily Dickinson, a 19th century writer, indulges that
fact but also goes beyond it in her work. Dickinson revisits the theme of death in her poetry.
Through her work, she shows readers her fascination with deaththe emotions associated with it. In
I heard a Fly buzz when I died and I ve seen a Dying Eye , Dickinson shows us a very intimate
view of a person dying. The poem Because I could not stop for Death shows readers the journey
to eternity after death and The Bustle in a House shows readers what happens to a family after
death. These four poems by Emily Dickinson all share a central theme of death and give readers a
very personal understanding of it. Emily Dickinson was born and educated in Massachusetts. She
only remained in college for one year but still produced volumes of poetry. She was very
introverted and towards the end of her life, she only wore white. Her poetry, as stated by the
Academy of American Poets, reflects her loneliness and the speakers of her poems generally
live in a state of want, but her poems are also marked by the intimate recollection of inspirational
moments which are decidedly life giving and suggest the possibility of happiness ( Emily
Dickinson. ). However, her works were never published while she was alive. After her death her
family found 800 poems or 40 hand bound volumes ( Emily

Identifying Voice And Sms Api Providers For Two Factor...
A guide to evaluating voice and SMS API providers for two factor authentication solutions
Introduction
Today, users of online services are very familiar with the process of typing in a username and
password, to securely access their accounts. Passwords however, are no longer considered very
safe, as they can be easily stolen, sniffed, guessed, or obtained through methods such as phishing
and malware attacks. Even strong and complicated passwords are susceptible to theft and therefore
not the best line of defense against hackers. That s why online service providers including banks,
social media websites, e commerce portals, and email providers, among others, all understand the
need to protect the confidential data of their customers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When building a two factor authentication solution, you will need to integrate with a reliable
voice API and SMS API provider, to easily manage the sending of one time passwords using text
messages or voice calls. This whitepaper will: Provide details on how two factor authentication
works.
Highlight and explain the must have features in a robust two factor authentication solution.
Help you evaluate the right SMS and Voice API provider to partner with, by explaining the
important factors that should influence your decision.
How two factor authentication works
The two step verification process in 2FA, often uses a combination of two of the following three
identification factors: 1. The Knowledge Factor:
This is something that only the user knows. It could be a password, a PIN, or an unlock pattern
that the user must enter, before accessing an account. Using this factor of identification alone is not
very secure. 2. The Possession Factor:
This is something that the user has, such as a device that can receive or generate a unique one
time password (OTP) or randomized code that should be entered when prompted. The device
could be a mobile phone that receives an OTP via an SMS or voice call, or it could be a physical
hardware device such as a key fob that generates the code. An authenticator software could also be
installed on a device this is a specialized application that many services now support. It has

Maggie, A Girl Of The Streets
In Stephen Crane s Maggie, a Girl of the Streets, the reader is given key insight into the daily
lives of a family that is torn apart due to their social environment. The story takes place in a
poverty stricken area called Rum Alley, which is located in the Bowery. The protagonist Maggie
Johnson and her brother Jimmie are shaped by the society that they live in and the interactions
they have. Maggie and Jimmie have abusive, alcoholic parents who constantly berate their kids
for no good reason, resulting in Jimmie becoming an alcoholic and an abusive womanizer.
Maggie was also affected by her social environment, but not in the same way as Jimmie. She was
seduced by a boy named Pete and was overwhelmed with the idea that she too could become...

In the beginning of the novella, it seems as though Jimmie just naturally has a short fuse and is
ready to pick a fight at moments notice, but as the story progresses, the reader comes to the
realization that Jimmie s family is torn apart and fighting constantly, affecting Jimmie in a very
negative way. Even as a child, Jimmie was found in the streets picking fights with other kids his
age. As Jimmie was fighting, his friends egged him on, saying, Smash im Jimmie, kick d face off
im! (Crane 4). He mirrors what he sees in the tenement building he calls home, as his mother resorts
to violence to enforce anything of her liking or to reprimand her children. Jimmie s violent
tendencies were not the only thing he picked up from his mother and father. As Jimmie grows up,
he starts getting involved with alcohol, increasing not only his violent tendencies, but also
increasing the number of flings he has, flirting and seducing women all the time and leaving them
heartbroken after a short period of time, just like his father. Jimmie s behaviour and mannerisms are
dictated based off of his social environment, mainly his household, and it further emphasizes that
Jimmie s social environment strongly influences the way his life turns out and the way he

Underdog Wears Prada Sexism
The Underdog Wears Prada : An Analysis on Miranda Priestly and Villainy
In the beginning of the movie The Devil Wears Prada, Andy Sachs says She s [Miranda Priestly]
not happy unless everyone around her is panicked, nauseous or suicidal. This Quote paints a rather
cruel, uncaring, and even villainous character that Miranda Priestly embodies throughout the movie,
but despite this negative opinion, we still feel a draw to her, an undeniable intrigue due to the
confidence and strength she retains in her daily life. Chuck Klosterman, author of the essay Villains
Who are Not Villains, argues that a character is understood through their own realm, that we see
villains contextualized to their situation (48). Miranda Priestly is not seen as a villain ... Show more

She proves herself to be a successful and talented leader of Runway, but her employers still try to
replace her, excusing themselves of their sexism by claiming that she is getting old and less up
to date with the latest styles. It is apparent that she is actually being replaced because of the
common sexist misconception that women get weaker and less able to do their job when they
grow older, unlike a man who gets considered stronger and wiser. Miranda in response to this
misconception has to hide behind a façade, a persona of power and confidence in order to
compensate for the misconceptions held against her and in order to keep her career and the
respect of her position. Though, in actuality it is shown that Miranda is not as strong as she may
seem because towards the end of the movie, Miranda, unmade up and dressed down in a robe,
reveals that she is getting a divorce. She exposes the toll her job places on her life and gives a
glimpse to the stress and sacrifice she has made in her own personal life by creating a persona in
order to combat the fallacy of sexism. This persona is the root cause of her villainous traits; it is
through this persona that she demands so much of her employees and through this ambition and
self preservation that she is willing to betray people like Nigel. If she had security and the trust that
management naturally gives to men, she would not behave in these villainous ways and not have to
fight and hurt others to keep her

Fidget Spinners Essay
Something showed up at early 2017, and it instantly became a massive hit. Guess who they are.
Yes, fidget spinners. Small fidget toys made from plastic or metal, spinning on our fingers to
their massive boom. These toys might look simple and small, but their popularity isn t. They re
well known all over the world. So, what do they hide behind their metal bearings? Where and
when do they come from? Sit back and get yourself a cup of coffee, as I will take you on this trip,
uncovering fidget spinners, and examining their reason of existence, in terms of science and art.
Before cracking these spinners deeper, we ll first go through the history of fidget spinners. There
are no clear evidence about it s original inventor, but there are indeed some other evidences that
could lead into the creation of this small toy. Catherine Hettinger, 62 years old, is one of it. She
is a chemical engineer, and she said that she s a tinkerer. Surprisingly, she doesn t have any kind of
connection towards any companies that are producing this popular toy. She had her first 2 patents
for a placemat that could help people on their diet. Her third patent, granted in 1997, is a circular
device made from a single piece of plastic that spins on the tip of a finger. She called this device a

Muhammed Ali Research Paper
The term legend is overused, often directed at individuals who are undeserving of the title. Such is
not the case for legendary boxer and humanitarian Muhammed Ali. After a long battle with
Parkinson s disease, Ali finally succumbed to complications this past week while being treated for
respiratory issues in a Phoenix hospital. He was 74 years old.
Ali s boxing career was marked by both brilliance and controversy. As a brash young pugilist, he
made his mark on the boxing world in the late 1960s through the 1970s with a record of 55 5.
During this time, he claimed the World Heavyweight title three times (a record) and fought some of
the sport s greatest fighters. Among his most dangerous opponents were Hall of Fame fighters like
Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, George Foreman and Floyd Patterson. ... Show more content on

While his trash talking brought with it a lot of entertainment value, it also offended people in the
sport who took exception to some of his comments.
To non boxing fans, he will always be remembered as the conscientious objector who refused to
enlist for military service in Vietnam due to his Islamic beliefs. His decision riled the nation,
resulting in a 3 year suspension from boxing. After resuming his boxing career, he would continue
his siege on the Heavyweight title.
Outside of the ring, Ali (born Cassius Marcellus Clay) garnered a reputation as a true
humanitarian. Even during the 20 something years he was battling Parkinson s, he traveled the
world and spoke out about poverty, racial inequality and the quest for peace throughout the world.
It is in his role as an ambassador to the world that he will be missed by family, friends and the

Beta: you need to first compute unlevered asset beta and then compute the levered equity beta using
Risk free rate should be consistent with the time horizon
Long term equity risk premium can be a good estimate of market risk premium 7. Cost of debt =
8.72% + 1.4% = 10.12%
Cost of equity = 8.72% + 1.76 * 7.43% = 21.8%
WACC=((1 0.44) * 10.12% * 40%) + 21.8% * 60%= 15.35% 8. We can use the WACC only if the
investment possibilities have similar characteristics. Investments should be related to the sector
and covered in similar industries if we want to use the same WACC. 9. The hurdle rate is usually
used to classify reasonable investments and a single rate could lead to wrong decisions. Risky
investments may appear more profitable as they actually are and less risky projects may appear
less reasonable and profitable. 10. This could increase the operating risk and so affect the profit
in a negative way. It only could be favorable if all projects would have the same beta factor. 11.
Hurdle rates are the required rate of return used in capital budgeting. Simply put, hurdle rates are
based on the firm s WACC. Divisional hurdle rates are sometimes used because firms are not
internally homogeneous in terms of risk. 12. Lodging division= 9.61%

Criminal Statistics
Introduction:
The accuracy and reliability of criminal statistics is something that has been of great discussion
through criminology for decades. Whilst some are of the belief that criminal statistics are a misuse
of time and resources, others believe that there is some use for them within the criminological
community. The inaccuracies of criminal statistics come highlighted in abundance within academic
articles and research, many of which highlight the main source as the dark figure of crime. Many
also suggest other inconsistencies within official statistics to be influenced by various other factors
from both the criminal justice system (i.e. police), society and communities. But whilst there is
much research to suggest that criminal statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

statistics in some instances (eg, homicide or motor vehicle theft) give us a good guide both to the
total volume of crime and trends in its incidence. In relation to motor vehicle thefts, the almost
100 percent reporting rate may have some relation to the fact that most people have car insurance
and that in most cases to be able to claim insurance for a car that has been stolen an official report
must be made to the police. Therefore, the vast majority of car thefts would be reported to the
police.

Those feeling the most pain from rising food prices were consumers in low income nations
where food purchases account for a very large portion of monthly household budgets. This is a
threat to me because if people in my area don t have a high paying job than they won t be
shopping with convince they well be shopping for price.
Demographics should be one of the first things that you take into consideration. Who are the
people shopping in your store? Are they interested in buying organic foods? Study the buying
habits and preferences of your customers. And, then give them what they want. In a grocery store
you really cant base anything off of one customer. At a grocery store you have to look at every
customer as an individual because they are all different. The top two influences that the
consumers will choose my store over others is that I am offering online ordering with delivery.
Also the other things that makes my business different than others is that I will have a variety of
foods even from different cultures as well. These two things are amazing to have and not to many
other companies offer that. I personally think that the ordering online and delivery is going to be a
big hit because during the winter not many people want to get out of the house and this way they
don t have too. Also buy having different culture foods and needs in my store it will attract more
customers and a variety of people.

I Believe That My Job As A Leader Is To Set A Goal, Create
I believe that my job as a leader is to set a goal, create a way to reach it and make the people follow
it. This sentence integrates an ordered sequence of the process that starts by knowing and leading
oneself, continues through innovation and finishes by leading others. Consequently, I consider that
leading small teams and large organizations starts with what is driving the leader.
Setting a goal links the passion and principles of the leader with the organization that he belongs. I
believe that passion is an essential ingredient for leadership, since it means that the leader is self
motivated and truly enjoys the activity he is performing day after day. Moreover, the proposed aim
is a good indicator of the amount of effort that a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, lack of objectives can result in passive attitudes as the Laissez faire, which I
consider is incompatible with the military life and a bad example for the junior leaders. Next,
the aim should be conceived in a way the team can identify and perceive as feasible, despite of
the difficulty it implies. At this point, it is necessary to be realistic and differentiate the own
dreams from the reality, since overpromising and under delivering is a common failure of leaders
who are too enthusiastic. Furthermore, from the perspective of the superiors, a person who
constantly can honor his offers is more reliable than somebody who makes great promises but
cannot exhibit accomplishments. Therefore, after deciding his aim the leader will find the way to
make it possible.
Creating a way is the expression of the ingenuity and skills of the leader to comprehend the
environment where he operates. In the military career, it also entails following the strategic
guidance and organizational procedures, under the constraint of the available resources. In contrast,
it does not means always start from the scratch. Actually, most of the times a leader is following
the steps of previous leaders and the policies from his commanders. However, each situation has its
own conditions and the requirements from the upper levels can change from one campaign to
another. As an example, US Army General Stanley McChrystal in his book Team

  • 2. When Adults Fail, Children Change Essay The Bluest Eye is a novel written by Toni Morrison that reveals many lessons and conflicts between young and adult characters of color. The setting takes place during the 1940s in Lorain, Ohio. The dominant speaker of this book is a nine year old girl named Claudia MacTeer who gets to know many of her neighbors. As a result of this, Claudia learns numerous lessons from her experience with the citizens of Lorain. Besides Claudia, The Bluest Eye is also told through many characters for readers to understand the connection between each of the adults and children. Many parents in the novel like Geraldine and Pauline Breedlove clearly show readers how adults change their own children. Furthermore, other adult characters like Cholly Breedlove... Junior is affected by the failure of his mother to parent well. Instead she worries about appearance, cleanliness, and her cat which brings separation between her and Junior. Because he is angry and hurt by this, he abuses his mother s cat who receives all the affection he would like to have from Geraldine. Another example of the failure of adults is seen in Pauline Breedlove. Just as Geraldine focuses more on her desires than her child, so does Pauline in ways that also drift her away from her family. Mrs. Breedlove is a black woman who dreams she can somehow make her family appreciate her but after Pauline figures that she could not, she finds meaning in romantic movies and the Fisher Family the white family she works for. The narrator tells readers, More and more she neglected her house, her children, her man they were like the afterthoughts one has just before sleep, the early morning and late evening edges of her day, the dark edges that made the daily life with the Fishers lighter, more delicate, more lovely. . .Here she found beauty, order, cleanliness, and praise (127). Pauline Breedlove works for a family that is not her family and because the Fishers give her what she desires, she ends up neglecting her own family. Mrs. Breedlove fails to ... • 3. Human Cloning Ethical Concerns on Human Cloning Human cloning, one of the most fascinating chapters in scientific history. Cloning goes back to the first mammal that was successfully cloned, Dolly the sheep. Dolly was duplicated on July 5, 1996 and since then the world has had many scientific advancements. Abby Norman, author of How Close Are We to Successfully Cloningour First Human said that other types of mammals such as goats, rats, pigs, mice, and rabbits have been cloned successfully but cloning other mammals and primates may not be so easy. Scientists are not yet able to successfully clone a human, but believe they will be able to do so by the 2020s. (Norman) Along with such a controversial topic there comes many who would agree that copying a human would be beneficial while on the opposing side some would argue that replicating someone s genes is ethically wrong. Cloning is a very important topic and according to the President s Council on Bioethics, The prospect of cloning to produce children, which would be a radically new form of procreation, raises deep concerns about identity and individuality, the meaning of having children, the difference between procreation and manufacture, and the relationship between the generations ( Human Cloning and Human Dignity: An Ethical Inquiry , 2017). Although useful for studying genetic diseases, human cloning produces issues as to whether it should be allowed or not because some believe the copy will have the same personality and ... We need to have the strength and power of a football player, the stamina of a marathon runner, and the concentration of a brain surgeon. But we need to put all this together while moving at high speeds on a cold and slippery surface while 5 other guys use clubs to try and kill us, oh yeah did I mention that this whole time we re standing on blades 1/8 of an inch thick? Coach Yoast shows that you have to do the right thing regardless of the cost. Strive for excellence, and leave no doubt. In the championship game we had a two to one lead with fifteen seconds left. Coach called my name and told my line to get on the ice. I climbed over the boards clutching my stick between my hands with only one thing on my mind, winning a National Championship. The next fifteen seconds were about to be the most intense moments of my life. This is because only fifteen seconds lies between me and an undisputed championship. As I squared up for the faceoff a storm of cheers and jeers flooded my ears, making it hard to stay focused. The referee was ready to drop the puck and the game was underway. I lost the faceoff and the other team began to storm down the ice. Nine seconds, eight seconds the clock was ticking and we were stuck in the defensive zone. Seven seconds, six seconds shots were flying at our goalie left and right one save after another, as he maintained the lead. The last five seconds seemed like a lifetime. Fighting in the corner for the puck time finally expired and we, were National Champions. After all we had been through in just over a week the taste of victory never seemed so sweet. • 5. The Middle Passage Analysis In The Middle Passage Documentary by Steven Spielberg, the trans Atlantic slave trade is analyzed and broken down to reveal the true horrors endured by millions of African Americans through the four hundred years it occurred. Step by step, it travels through the journey the slaves suffered through, from the initial capturing to the moments they arrived in America, only to be auctioned off as no more than lowly farm animals. The documentary shows the overall journey of the Middle Passage and the trials involved, but the book Copper Sun by Sharon Draper portrays it in a different light. The novel follows an enslaved African by the name of Amari through the horrors of the capture, forced migration, and voyage to the land of the whites. Another perspective within the book is of a white girl named Polly who is braving the hardships that come with being an indentured servant. Yet what both the documentary and novel show are the unbreakable spirits of the ones who were forced to withstand the barbarous actions of the people who imprisoned them.... September 11, 2001, is a date that will forever be remembered not because of the terrorists that attacked America, but for the patriots who sacrificed their lives to save hundreds of innocent people. 9/11 is an attack by Islamic hijackers. The main strike is on the World Trade Centers. There were four planes included in the invasions. They included: Flight 93, Flight 11, Flight 175, and Flight 77. After the raids America had some plans and new thoughts. During the attacks, the motives that the terrorists had were awful. I do not agree with the motives, but they had some. • 11. The Effects Of Gambling Addiction On The Age Research Question How can the amounts gambled by young adults be reduced, and what is the path to overcoming instances of gambling addiction affecting this age group? Background Pathological gambling, also known as Ludomania, is an addiction and is clinically referred to as a disorder that can affect people of all ages. Young people between the ages of 18 24 spend more money to gamble than any other age group. This has become a growing problem over the years as our technology has advanced, causing many young people to have little or no money by the age of 30. Many adult pathologic gamblers report having developed gambling problems during their teenage years. (Delfabbro, P, Gambling Research Australia, A review of Australian Gambling Research, August 2008) Although the common perception is that it is just irresponsible and bad behavior, it is actually much more complex than that. Pathological gambling is an addiction rooted in the brain, just like a drug or alcohol addiction. As this generation has been brought up with the new and upcoming technology, many young people have started some form of gambling. Whether it is betting on a sports game, online shopping or even buying a scratchy ticket, they have gambled money away. This leads us to the biggest question. How can we minimize this? Intervention aims Like an alcohol or drug addiction, pathological gambling is a long term disorder that tends to get worse without treatment. Even with treatment, it can be quite common to ... • 12. The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team Case Study The 4th Armor Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) has undergone significant changes in the past three years. The brigade was once one of the best maneuver brigades in Forces Command (FORSCOM) but is now riddled with issues ranging from lack of a clear vision for the unit to low morale, and ethical concerns. As the incoming BrigadeCommander, I have had 30 days to assess the unit and review historical information and an evaluation from the Centers for Army Lessons Learned (CALL). The most critical leadership problem in the 4th ABCT is the lack of a clear vision for the unit. I will use Kotter s Eight Step Change Model and the Seven Step Vision Process along with Kotter s Eight Step change model to establish goals and implement organizational change. By implementing change using Kotter s model and the seven step vision process, I can alleviate some of the underlying morale and ethical issues while providing a picture of the future. The first step of Kotter s Eight Step Change Model is creating a sense of urgency. 4th ABCT has a systemic leadership problem. One way to create a sense of urgency is through dissatisfaction. I will start by suspending or removing leaders currently displaying unethical behavior. Not only am I creating dissatisfaction, but also an opportunity to use talent management to assign leaders within the brigade who will help support change. I will suspend CPT Seth Cooper and perform a Commander s inquiry prior to pursuing a 15 6 investigation. This will show the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Traveling has many effects overall The point is the sky is the limit; traveling gives personal insight into the world beyond the bedroom window; it gives us a license to become a citizen of the world. First, traveling is the world s piggy bank. In the year 2015 a total of 650.8 billion dollars was spent by domestic and international travelers on leisure ( U.S. Travel Answer Sheet ). For example, the money spent on those amazing adventures available. Like scuba diving, parasailing, and even trying new foods. It is Finney s Reflections on revival and revival meetings, written in 1845 46, and distributed in the Oberlin Evangelist, the bi weekly official publication of Oberlin College, where Rev. Finney was Professor of Theology and in the end, President of the College. Finney s writing reflects a lot about revival; that it is a method for saving souls as well as changing people and, eventually, the society. Through revivalism, the church would introduce the millennial kingdom to the world. Finney acknowledges that revival brought good change radically and also that Christians ought to be effectively involved in transforming all areas of community. This paper will aim to involve a close reading on Reflection on Revivals by Charles G. Finny, We will be discussing seven different letters which He has address to the Ministers of the Gospel and brothers. I am very thankful for the opportunity I was given at Cardons. I started in the unit where the babies were not critically ill, but still needed some developmental assistance before they could be discharged home. I cared for a set of twins who were on total parenteral nutrition (TPN), were fed breastmilk through their nasogastric tube (NG), and were not on any medications. I loved how much teamwork was involved in the NICU, they were always helping and reaching out to see if anyone needed anything. The highlight of my day was being able to assist in a peripherally inserted central catheter, also known as a PICC line. It took almost two hours to complete the entire procedure. After the baby was given fentanyl to help calm and partially sedate her, I began to clean her right leg from heel to high thigh with iodine. The PICC line nurse wanted to go in through the great saphenous vein, and used her fancy light to find the best vein the baby had, which would be the most direct route to the heart. She inserted the needle into the skin just as a normal IV would be started, then introduced the catheter which she cut to nineteen centimeters. She proceeded to insert the catheter without resistance. After that was complete, x ray had to come and check the placement. The x ray showed that the catheter was in the abdomen rather than the heart. The nurse pulled back the catheter and started over, we waited for another x ray, and it showed that it was in the heart, just a little high. She pulled the catheter out three centimeters and it was now in the correct place with great blood return. It was a length but very neat process to have been a part ... Both authors do claim that monstrous things can hide on the fringes of maps, and as Grafton points out, Vespucci s descriptions of his monsters often echo older texts like the Histories. For example, both Europeans of Vespucci s day and Herodotus s Greeks loathed cannibalism, so cannibals serve as appropriate menaces for the reader seeking knowledge about the world s farther regions. In his letters, the cannibals seem the most monstrous in actions, but they do not appear physically abnormal to Vespucci s eyes as a dog headed man would be to Herodotus or the Libyans. Vespucci characterizes the peoples of the New World, cannibals included, as having big, solid and well proportioned bodies , a far cry from having eyes in the chest (48). While other tribes not mentioned as practicing cannibalism attack Vespucci, he describes the tribe of cannibals as being of a quite courteous disposition and fine stature , noting that they do not devour their own people or women in stark contrast to Herodotus s own cannibals (Vespucci 9). As a result, in Vespucci s work, select actions create monsters, not immutable physical qualities. While a nuanced difference, it proves vital one when considering where the authors sit in history. Herodotus s Greece did not seek widespread colonization of the lands where dog headed peoples reside, and so Herodotus may leave his monsters to the mists of rumor. Tee ball, soccer, football, volleyball, basketball are among the sports parents contemplate to sign their child up for. Some of that debate as well is what is the perfect age they should start playing sports. However, if your child is under 10 years old you should not put your child in youth sports because; there is a lot of bad coaches, parents interfering with the coaches and officials during games, and coaches only want to win on gameday. Every year if you keep up with youth sports around the nation not just your state, you can read about how parents are complaining about having a bad coach for their child, how they did not play or was not taught the sport. Some coaches are only coaching because they signed up their child to play a sport and they believe they can teach him and others the sport. Knowing the sport, and knowing how to teach the sport is two different things. Some believe they need to run their program for 10 and under like a boot camp and yell at the kids and talk down to them in front of other kids. Most coaches in leagues are not certified to coach so anyone can be a coach, if you pass a background check. This process does not make every person who signs up their child for youth sports very confident. A background check only consists of, depending on the organization, criminal chargers especially any involved with children. Since a coach volunteers their time rarely do they need to be certified in coaching or ask to take special coaching classes. • 28. How To Pursue My K-12 Magnet School As I nervously walked off the bus, I looked towards my new family who beckoned me towards them with signs and open arms. After hearing the Spanish sounding blur coming out of my new sister s mouth, I could only produce a blank stare in response. I immediately came to the realization that living in a Spanish speaking culture would not be as easy as I had expected, and my ten years of classroom Spanish would not be enough. This was a living language that I would have to learn and adjust to. Despite the preparation undergone for this trip of a lifetime, I quickly became overwhelmed living with a host familyas an exchange student for six weeks in ParanГЎ, Argentina. My K 12 magnet school is one of the very few schools in the country that teaches students at an early age how to entertain multiple ideas by using Paideia seminars which incorporate open ended questions centered around a thought provoking text. Understanding how to maintain my own ideas and opinions while accepting others was an important skill for this journey. The idea that there is no right or wrong, just different, was something I had not been able to fully understand until my foreign study experience. For example, Argentineans ability to vote before they could drive seemed strange to me, but I began to realize that Americans driving at 16 was just as strange. It became apparent that easing my way in wouldn t be an option, having just six weeks to make my best attempt at cultural immersion. One of the more straight forward and raw legal documents that we read for class, called the capitularies, were helpful in illustrating this fact. The capitularies were written throughout the late 700s and early in 800s and many of the problems addressed/rules made had to do with bishops and churches. The capitularies hold many rules that can be seen as rules that the churches should have been able to control themselves, which could be why they fought for more power later on. One examples of these rules is the capitulary number five of the Paderborn capitularies that says, If anyone kills a bishop or a priest or a deacon, he shall likewise pay with his life, (Loyn, 300). By November 2012, I had decided that I no longer wanted to be studying towards a qualification in the VFX industry, and decided to enrol in one of the universities in Auckland for a degree in Hospitality instead. By March 2013, I had turned right around, and enrolled in a different school for a degree in none other than 3D Animation and VFX. This could increase the operating risk and so affect the profit in a negative way. It only could be favorable if all projects would have the same beta factor. 11. Hurdle rates are the required rate of return used in capital budgeting. Simply put, hurdle rates are based on the firm s WACC. Divisional hurdle rates are sometimes used because firms are not internally homogeneous in terms of risk. 12. Lodging division= 9.61% Contract services/restaurant= 14.66% 13. ... • 48. Criminal Statistics Introduction: The accuracy and reliability of criminal statistics is something that has been of great discussion through criminology for decades. Whilst some are of the belief that criminal statistics are a misuse of time and resources, others believe that there is some use for them within the criminological community. The inaccuracies of criminal statistics come highlighted in abundance within academic articles and research, many of which highlight the main source as the dark figure of crime. Many also suggest other inconsistencies within official statistics to be influenced by various other factors from both the criminal justice system (i.e. police), society and communities. But whilst there is much research to suggest that criminal statistics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) (2009, p.vii ix) note that motor vehicle thefts have a reporting rate of nearly 100 percent . Morgan and Clare (2012, p.32) note that, Official crime statistics in some instances (eg, homicide or motor vehicle theft) give us a good guide both to the total volume of crime and trends in its incidence. In relation to motor vehicle thefts, the almost 100 percent reporting rate may have some relation to the fact that most people have car insurance and that in most cases to be able to claim insurance for a car that has been stolen an official report must be made to the police. Those feeling the most pain from rising food prices were consumers in low income nations where food purchases account for a very large portion of monthly household budgets. This is a threat to me because if people in my area don t have a high paying job than they won t be shopping with convince they well be shopping for price. Demographics should be one of the first things that you take into consideration. Who are the people shopping in your store? Are they interested in buying organic foods? Study the buying habits and preferences of your customers. And, then give them what they want. In a grocery store you really cant base anything off of one customer. At a grocery store you have to look at every customer as an individual because they are all different. The top two influences that the consumers will choose my store over others is that I am offering online ordering with delivery. Also the other things that makes my business different than others is that I will have a variety of foods even from different cultures as well. These two things are amazing to have and not to many other companies offer that. I personally think that the ordering online and delivery is going to be a big hit because during the winter not many people want to get out of the house and this way they don t have too. Also buy having different culture foods and needs in my store it will attract more customers and a variety of people. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. I Believe That My Job As A Leader Is To Set A Goal, Create I believe that my job as a leader is to set a goal, create a way to reach it and make the people follow it. This sentence integrates an ordered sequence of the process that starts by knowing and leading oneself, continues through innovation and finishes by leading others. Consequently, I consider that leading small teams and large organizations starts with what is driving the leader. Setting a goal links the passion and principles of the leader with the organization that he belongs. I believe that passion is an essential ingredient for leadership, since it means that the leader is self motivated and truly enjoys the activity he is performing day after day. Moreover, the proposed aim is a good indicator of the amount of effort that a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Additionally, lack of objectives can result in passive attitudes as the Laissez faire, which I consider is incompatible with the military life and a bad example for the junior leaders. Next, the aim should be conceived in a way the team can identify and perceive as feasible, despite of the difficulty it implies. At this point, it is necessary to be realistic and differentiate the own dreams from the reality, since overpromising and under delivering is a common failure of leaders who are too enthusiastic. Furthermore, from the perspective of the superiors, a person who constantly can honor his offers is more reliable than somebody who makes great promises but cannot exhibit accomplishments. Therefore, after deciding his aim the leader will find the way to make it possible. Creating a way is the expression of the ingenuity and skills of the leader to comprehend the environment where he operates. In the military career, it also entails following the strategic guidance and organizational procedures, under the constraint of the available resources. In contrast, it does not means always start from the scratch. Actually, most of the times a leader is following the steps of previous leaders and the policies from his commanders. However, each situation has its own conditions and the requirements from the upper levels can change from one campaign to another. As an example, US Army General Stanley McChrystal in his book Team ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
