Tim Burton s Auteur Theory
According to Andrew Sarris Notes on the Auteur Theory in 1962, there is no definition of the auteur
theory in the English language. Outgrowing the cinematic theories of Andre Bazin and Alexandra
Astruc, arising in France in the late 1940s, auteur theory became the theory of filmmaking where the
director is deemed as the major creative force in a film. A foundation stone of the French Cinematic
movement known as the novelle vague , or New Wave , the theory of director as author was
principally advanced in Bazin s periodical Cahiers du cinema founded in 1951 (Britannica, 2015). So
what truly makes a director an auteur? As it s believed that an auteur is the author of their film, there
are three premises of the auteur theory that makes a director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Over a group of films, a director must exhibit certain recurrent characteristics of style, which serves as
his signature. The way a film looks and moves should have some relationship to the way a director
thinks and feels. (Sarris) Tim burton s vision of the world is reflected in themes that are strongly
shown throughout in his films. The gothic imagery with his ghostly music and misfit theme is a
predominant part of Burton s signature making his films easily recognisable. Being a misfit is one of
Burton s most concentrated themes. In his films such as: Edward Scissorhands (1990), Alice in
Wonderland (2010), Corpse Bride (2005), and Vincent (1982), the gothic imagery and misfit is a
recurring theme where the protagonist is a misfit in their society and isolates themselves from society
until finally finding a way embrace themselves and their differences to the social norm. Edward
Scissorhands being the most resounding evidence of pure auteur ship shows that Burton did not only
direct it but conceptualise and commission the screenplay, in this way, the attitudes toward the themes
and combination of the specific themes, can be understood as pure creations of the director. Though
not only does Burton utilise this constant theme of gothic imagery and misfit but he is also known for
collaborating with the same actors when creating his films, such as Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham
Carter who are both featured in Dark Shadows (2012),Ed wood (1984),Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory (2005) just to name a few. Burton also has the recurring use of the same composer Danny
Elfman to set a tone that is easily recognised as Burton s films. By collaborating with the same people
who have assisted in the production of his films creates consistency within Burton s

Essay on Analysis of Hopkin s Poem God s Grandeur
Gerard Hopkins wrote God s Grandeur in 1877 right around the time he was ordained as a priest. The
poem deals with his feelings about God s presence and power in the world. He could not understand
how the people inhabiting the earth could refuse or be distracted from God. This confusion was due to
the greatness of God s power and overall existence that, to Hopkins, seemed impossible and sinful to
ignore. However, as the poem progresses Hopkins expresses hope in the world and God s everlasting
presence in it. This poem has much meaning to it and expresses the thoughts and feelings that Hopkins
was having at the time he wrote it. When one first reads God s Grandeur it is hard to fully understand
what Hopkins was trying to convey. One must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first point is the prominence and greatness of God in our world. The second builds off of the first,
questioning the lack of respect, worship, or simple acknowledgement of God by the human race. The
third point continues Hopkins s thinking process by expressing hope in the Holy Ghost and his never
ending existence in the world. The first point of the poem that Hopkins desired to convey is in the first
three lines. The poem starts off by giving a description of God s grandeur in our world. The first line is
representative of the time period that the poem was written, The world is charged with the grandeur of
God. Hopkins s use of the word charged to describe God s presence, may it have been intentional or
not, reflects the world that Hopkins lived in. In 1877 electricity had been discovered, but it was still an
uncontrollable and indescribable mystery. It was a power that could not be fully explained just like
God s presence on the earth, something that is still as much of a mystery today. It was almost God
like, and was a perfect was to explain God s existence. Another comparison is made at the end of line
three, It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil. The world under God is being compared to the
ooze of oil, expressing how God s will holds the earth together like oil. Throughout the poem Hopkins
uses alliteration very effectively and in these first few lines it is blatantly evident. Certain consonants

Sports Are Good For Children
Organized Sports are Good for Children As time passes and as technology is advancing, the tradition
of playing outside is diminishing rapidly. Many people concentrate on their electronic devices in their
ages as early as three. Sports are the most effective way that children express their joyfulness and
brilliance. It provides children advantages of physical activities, confidence, and enjoyment.
Participating in organized sports in early ages can produce the greatest results for children. Organized
sports are good for children to improve social skills, to have successful life, and to keep their health.
First, organized sports are good for children because it improves social skills. Children who
participate in team sports are full of confidence. According to Gary R. Collins, who writes the
Spotlight or Stress, This is especially uncomfortable and stressful when other people expect us to do
one thing, when we fear that we can t do what is expected, and we think that our inability may cause
us to lose respect in the eyes of others. Since everyone is not perfect, sometimes they can win or lose
the games. Also Collins says, Acceptance is a third divine characteristic of success. At the beginning,
they can be afraid of losing, but it is a good opportunity to have the ability of how to accept loosing
games. Children will be able to develop their minds and their sense of purpose with more passion
through competitive experiences. They will have high self esteem and will

A Case Study Of Erikson s Theory Of Psychosocial Development
Introduction
In this assignment, I will be focusing on Erikson s theory of psychosocial development. There are
eight stages in which only the fifth stage namely identity versus confusion will be discussed. Aspects
such as identity crises, exploration of autonomy whilst developing a sense of self, factors that may
contribute to identity formation as well as the successful/unsuccessful resolution of this particular
stage will be discussed thoroughly. James Marcia s identity statuses will be highlighted. The
discussion will then progress to the psychosocial development of a case study based on Anna Monroe
in connection to the difficulties she faced namely gender, sexuality, peer pressure, suicide and the
experimentation with different identities she encountered.

Adolescence refers to the transition period experienced by children that occur between childhood and
adulthood (Shefer, 2011). Identity is first confronted in adolescence between the ages 12 19 years old,
because of physical and hormonal changes in the body. It is also due to the introduction of formal
operations in cognitive development and societal expectation that this contributes to an individual s
identity to be explored and established (McAdams, 2009). The forces within and outside (family,
community) the individual that promote identity development usually create a sense of tension. The
basic task is, in Erikson s terms, fidelity or truthfulness and consistency to one s core self or faith in
one s ideology (Fleming, 2004: 9), in a nutshell: Who am I and where am I

Defining Financial Terms and Role in Finance Essay
Running Head: DEFINING FINANCIAL TERMS AND ROLE IN FINANCE
Defining Financial Terms and Role in Finance

Defining Financial Terms and Role in Finance The following paragraphs contain financial terms and
their role in finance. The terms are finance, efficient market, primary market, secondary market, risk,
security, stock, bond, capital, debt, yield, rate of return, return on investment, and cash flow. The
fourteen terms all have an important relationship in the world of business. The first term is finance.
Finance is managing money or supplying funds to provide a resource. A bank or loan company is a
source of finance because they both provide cash. Cash is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The price is more or less than the issue price of the original company. The fifth term is risk. Risk is the
uncertainty or chance of a difference in the actual return earned on investment and the expected return
earned on the investment. There are three types of risk: market, credit, and operational. The company
return on an investment depends on which risk the company took. For example, people and companies
take risk sometimes when they make a financial investment or provide equipment and supplies for an
opportunity to receive a high return on their investment. The role of finance for a risk is the
uncertainty if they will receive payment for their investment. The higher the risk means the higher the
return. The lower the risk means the lower the return.
The next three terms have a correlation. The terms are security, stock, and bond. Security in finance is
the relationship and representation of stocks and bonds. Some securities are interest and dividend
based. Common and preferred stock, bonds, notes, debenture, and option are some examples of
securities. A stock represents ownership in a business, has face value, and may not carry a maturity
date. A stock s role in finance is as follows. Common stock has no fixed rate of dividend and has
voting rights. Preferred stock has a fixed rate of dividend and no voting rights and preferred are the
two types of stock. A bond is the last term of correlation. A bond is a fixed income security. A

Protest Music In The Black Lives Matter Movement
Even in 2015 we still see how protest music is being used in the Black Lives Matter Movement. As
protests and anger against the police grew again like it did in the late 80 s and early 90 s F Tha Police
became the anthem for a new movement of civil rights protesters. In Ferguson, chants of hands up,
don t shoot turned to F Tha Police as the protests turned to riots. In Denver, protesters dumped red
paint over a police memorial and tagged the back of it f the police during a Black Lives Matter protest.
We still see how relevant the protest song is today even though it was released over 20 years ago. The
protest rap just like protest music in the 1960 s resonates with people. The listener has this stimulated

A profound number of the college students I interviewed felt that Bob Dylan s 1960s The Times They
are a Changin and Tupac Shakur 1992 Keep Ya Head Up a reference to the L.A. riots, spoke more to
their reasoning. They talked about how these two songs relied on human logic to establish their
arguments and convince them of their meaningfulness through their lyrics. Appeals to reason are
derived from logic and adapted in such a way as to appeal to and have an effect on an audience
(Bailey, 2006). The songs, The Times They Are a Changin and Keep Ya head up both explores the
illogical nature of the traditional way of thinking at the time. Throughout the songs, both artist use
verbal opposition and argumentative statements to logically criticize the traditional way of thinking
about race and war. In various stanzas of Tupac song, he draws attention to various injustices and how
blind the nation is when it still comes to race. He says They got money or wars, but can t feed tha
poor, say their ain t no hope for the youth and the truth is. It can t no hope for tha future. We ain t
meant to survive cause it s a setup and even if you re fed up, ya got keep your head up (Shakur, 1992).
In the case of this song many of the students felt Tupac gave great reasoning with how we have money
for wars but not to feed the poor and how the government and society does in fact setup some races to
fail more than others. The students came to the revelation through the reasoning given how this still
holds true even in today s society, with police brutality and unlawful stops because of the color of a

The second chapter discusses the various pictures that reflect woman in the 19th century which states
the status of women in Victorian society, the ideal lady during the era, female body in religion and
society.
2.2 Women s Status in Victorian Society
Victorian society emerged after the Industrial Revolution in which it was the time of transformation
from rural to urban life. This period was significant on the grounds that England saw many changes in
the economy, society, and politics. Thus, even the image of women has changed during the Victorian
Age. Society before was not as today, women s freedom in the present day such as working ... Show

Almost, Victorian novels were based on women s situation in their writings and they criticised the
society that pushed women to be a fallen. The fiction could not tell us the true reality but at least we
can understand the culture and the situation at that time. There is no choice for women in the early
Victorian era whether to be a domestic angel who follows morals and values or became fallen women
who reject the rules and risk to lose its position within society. This ambiguity gave birth to a new
category of women that helped to change the image of

Causes Of Subway Accidents
In order to minimize the number of subway accidents, motor vehicle collisions and airplane accidents,
state and federal agencies regulate the transportation industry. If a subway accident occurs, safety
boards, inspectors and investigators are called upon to investigate the incident.
At some point, light rail, subway and commuter rail have all been investigated. Although the injuries
sustained during a subway accident are usually much less extensive than those seen in automobile
accidents, more people sustain injuries in a subway accident than in a typical car collision. When it
comes to accidents involving the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), complex
issues must be investigated and analyzed. Some issues that can contribute to an accident include
improper employee training, electrical problems and mechanical issues as well as rail concerns.
Recent Incidents Involving New York s Subway
The MTA states that in 2016 there were 168 incidents involving people being hit by a train with 48
people sustaining fatal injuries: Marking the lowest year end total for individuals fatally struck by
subways in five years. Incidents involving train strikes are broken down by the MTA into six
categories: people hit in the station (but not while standing on a platform), individuals hit while
standing on the platform, people hit outside of the station (i.e., while in a tunnel), attempted suicides,
alleged suicides and individuals who fell between the cars.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Phoenix Wright s The Night
Objection! This signature catchphrase, yelled by protagonist Phoenix Wright, is well known in not
only Japan, where the Ace Attorney video game/ visual novel series is from, but also in America,
where the Ace Attorney series has a rather large cult following. This series follows Phoenix through
his journey as a defense attorney, as he protects the falsely accused and brings justice to criminals,
using evidence and logic, with a little bit of bluffing, rather than brute force. This much loved series,
with its fantastic writing that manages to combine ridiculousness and tragedy to create a humorous,
yet oftentimes touching stories, and some of the most complex and nuanced characters in video
gaming/visual novel history, has captured the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our first message of Ace Attorney s gospel is that of the American Monomyth. The American
Monomyth is a common story theme in our culture, wherein the world, and the heroes within the
world are at peace, until a problem occurs that throws the world of the heroes into chaos. At this point,
the heroes rise up and defeat the problem, before fading back into obscurity as the world is restored to
its natural order. This can be seen in the Ace Attorney series, as the games are broken up into
individual cases in each game. Each case starts with the peaceful world being thrown into chaos with a
crime or murder being pinned on an innocent person, at which point, Phoenix and his partner, Maya
Fey, rise up and become heroes fighting to defend the wrongly accused and to find the real culprit.
Once the defendant is cleared and the culprit is behind bars, the world returns to its natural order and
Phoenix and crew fade back into obscurity, until the next case occurs and the cycle repeats. This
following of the American Monomyth raises a very important question about Phoenix, the American
Monomyth is often used in superhero stories, which raises the question: Is Phoenix Wright a
superhero?
Is Phoenix Wright a superhero? This is a question that the games raise multiple times, Phoenix Wright
is a morally righteous person, whose goal is to protect the innocent and bring justice to the guilty. Like
Batman, he uses his resources, in his case his logic and skill as a lawyer, to bring

The Final Episode Of Breaking Bad Known As Face Off
The case study I have chosen is the final episode of season 4 of Breaking Bad Known as Face Off.
The name is in reference to what happens later in the episode. Through this essay I will attempt to
analyse the episode using theories that have been developed by Propp, Todorov and Levi Strauss.
I will attempt a full break down of the show later, but for now I will do a quick summary of the show
just to bring everyone up to speed before hand. A high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with
inoperable cancer turns to manufacturing and selling methamphetamine, with his former student, in
order to secure his family s financial future (IMBb, 2008:Online). The Genre for this particular series
is Crime Drama but it has aspects of a thriller series thrown in as well. This helps with view ability of
the series as it keeps viewers on edge. We mobilise our genre knowledge routinely to order our media
experiences, and in doing so we come to recognise a wide of genres. (Gillespie, Toynbee, 2006 :45)
Character roles
The first aspect that I will analyse is Character roles. This concept came about when Vladimir Propp, a
scholar and folklorist analysed hundreds of different Russian folklore stories and was able to pin point
certain traits that belongs to certain types of characters. There are 8 character roles in Propp s theory
and they have been given names, which might not reflect accurately in certain cases.

Fascism In Germany
Fascism succeeded in Germany, not as a result of Hitler being elected. There were many factors that
lead Hitler and the Nazi party to succeed. Hitler took advantage of situations such as the Great
Depression and the Reichstag fire to help the Nazi Party gain support and obtain power of Germany.
Along with taking advantage of those factors Hitler was able to convince the members of Reichstag to
pass the Enabling Act. Another way Hitler was able to gain more support was by rewarding the people
of Germany with organizations such as the Gleichstang and strength through joy. The Great
Depression of 1929 impacted Germany tremendously. Already gone through the Hyperinflation of
1923, the struggling Germany economy was facing another challenge. Many Germans encountered
unemployment along with German farmers facing the threat of price declines of commodities and also
the declining of markets. With many Germans facing unemployment this meant they were not able to
earn money so it was difficult to get food or other necessities. This economic hardship gave Hitler the
opportunity to reach out to the people of Germany who were outraged and worried about their future.
So, this economic tragedy brought new supporters, voters, activists to the Nazi Party, which led them
to gain more popularity. With more support and popularity, the Nazi Party kept on growing and
becoming more powerful. In January 1933 Hitler was designated as Chancellor. He did not have much
power at the beginning of

The Epistle Of 1st John
AUTHORSHIP
The author of the Epistle of 1st John is not named in the letter, but church tradition has been strong in
affirming John the Apostle, that disciple whom Jesus loved from (Jn. 21:7), as the author. The author
declares himself as one who we have seen with our eyes...and our hands have handled (1:1) declaring
him an eyewitness to the life and ministry of Jesus. John s authorship was not brought into question
until the twentieth century. The epistles of 2nd and 3rd John add to the controversy as they are
attributed to a person called The elder who s identity is also unknown (see v.1 in 2nd and 3rd John).
The discussion of authorship asks two basic questions in the case of the Johannine corpus, first, were
the books all written by the same author and second who was that author.
Comprehensive studies of both the style and content of the three epistles shows striking similarities
indicative of single authorship. Even the casual reader of the Gospel of John and his First Epistle will
be impressed by the similarity of words and phrases in the two books. John s authorship of The
Revelation has also been debated despite the four claims by John to be the author within the text its
self (see 1:1, 4, 9, 22:8). According to Walvoord, attributing the authorship to John the Apostle
depends on the validity of his being exiled to the island of Patmos, for which historical evidence is
good.
The lack of evidence against Johannine authorship does not stop sceptics from

Anger In Speak
Laurie Halse Anderosn has written a book which is considered as a trauma novel speak . Usually
anger is a phase that begins with madness and ends with regret, but in this book anger will be tackled
in different way, Melinda s anger starts with silence and ends with speaking. In other words it s starts
with fear and ends with triumph over self. Over the course of the novel silence struggling with anger is
leading to speak. Anderson incorporated all themes in anger direction with different techniques such
as flashback, allusion, symbolism, and fragmentation.
The story started in an ambiguous atmosphere ,as readers don t know what happened to Melinda she
refused to speak she only wants to live in her isolation. some people in their depression tries to speak,
and others chooses to keep themselves silent and get stressed when they are given a heavy workload,
like why me ? ,as they are too weak or shame to face the world around them ,and this exactly what
happened to Melinda in this novel .People experiencing passive anger may not even realize they are
angry, because passive angry maybe repressed, it can be hard to recognize. In this long term, these
suppressed angry feelings can easily be a main reasson for psychological suffering. As readers can

person may use. The first article that I will use is Who Is This Man, and Why Is He Screaming? by

Some people have the tendency of misusing the Internet and risking their privacy. Technology is so
powerful that any thing that you upload to the Internet will be in the power of other people. Like
Singer said about the new technology it has made us open up to the world, so now everybody can see
us and know who we are. Galai s photo went international when he posted the picture of himself
yawning. This is why people have to be careful when posting things on the Internet, to protect their
own privacy.
In addition the protecting ourselves, having more privacy can protect the rights of other individuals.
Kadish asks herself If your face isn t private property, what is? (Kadish 262). Kadish is right because
if Galai posted a picture of himself and other people used it, then how many other people are having
the same dilemma? If Galai would have had more privacy, no one could have had the rights to use his

With the use of technology our privacy is decreasing. Kadish also says There s something glorious and

Characters show signs of insanity such as hallucinations, forgetfulness, or performing weird and

notice little observations of people being tortured in a room she has spent plenty of time in and will
continue to spend time in. In conclusion, the narrator is so oblivious to everything going on around her
in the room with the window bars, rings on the walls, scratches throughout all the wallpaper and the
floor being ruined. This proves that she is clearly insane due to the fact of her being blinded by
everything here in the room. In addition, the narrator shows signs of insanity by her having
hallucinations. While she is staring at the wallpaper she sees people and objects appear ON the wall in
the wallpaper. At first she just describes the wallpaper as if a boy s school used it. She notices every
tiny defect in the wallpaper, she notices the tiny little scratches that not everybody will be able to see.
Throughout the story the narrator was letting the paper get the best of her so John did not repaper the
wall although he wanted to. Obvious signs of insanity were when the

Zora Neale s Personal Autonomy In Their Eyes Were Watching...
Zora Neale Hurston s Their Eyes Were Watching God follows Jamie Crawford who consecutively
becomes involved in three marriages with distinct men that she eventually leaves, but not without
finding a semblance of her identity through them. Janie s ability to seek out her dreams and her
persistence towards discovering not only love, but herself through relationships portrays her as a
peculiar individual who defies the social norm of the time period where a woman, especially black
women, should not have a voice. The confounding qualities Janie emits prompts for an in depth study
on how Hurston develops the growth of a black woman s personal autonomy in a highly oppressive
setting. Throughout the novel, love and the seek for personal happiness have been prevalent as Jamie
suffers no regret from separating from her first two husbands who have both failed to provide her
genuine consideration. In the time setting, the men s disregard of Janie would be ... Show more

attention towards the issue of how men like Joe, and even her first husband Logan Killicks who

However, Janie s response and growth from these issues are quite complex since she does not let the

Rhetoric In American Sniper
Rhetoric is the persuasion of another to your ideals through the use of effective speech or writings.
American Sniper is a movie based on the book by Chris Legend Kyle and his life before, during, and
after being an American Navy SEAL sniper in Iraq. The book is named American Sniper: The
Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History (2012) by Chris Kyle, with Scott
McEwen and Jim DeFelice. In the movie American Sniper the rhetoric is used to persuade the viewer
on how horrifying war can be on an individual. Viewers look at the elite warrior, a U.S. Navy SEAL,

Data Mining, Partition Based Clustering
Abstract Nowadays, Popularity of Internet and wide improvement in enterprise information is leading
to vast research in text and data mining, and information filtering. So, the cluster technology is
becoming the core of text mining. Clustering is an important form of data mining. Clustering is a
process of grouping similar sets of data into a group, called clusters. This paper comprises of text
clustering algorithms, also analysis and comparison of the algorithms are done with respect to the
applicable scope, the initial parameters , size of dataset, accuracy, dimensionality, cluster shape and
noise sensitivity. Algorithms are classified as partitioned based clustering, hierarchical clustering,
density based , self organizing maps and fuzzy clustering techniques. The brief idea of each clustering
technique is mentioned in this paper.
Keywords Clustering, Data mining, partition based clustering, hierarchical based clustering, density
based clustering.
I. INTRODUCTION
Wide range of data is collected in different databases because of advanced techniques of data
collection. The demand for grouping the valuable data and extracting only the useful information from
data is increased. Clustering is the distribution of data into groups of identical objects which has
similarity within the cluster and dissimilarity with the objects in the other groups [2]. Cluster analysis
is the arrangement of a set of data into clusters of similar patterns [5]. Data within the same cluster are

The Fundamental Professional Conduct Of The Teacher
The expression Duty of Care refers to the fundamental professional conduct of the teacher. This
becomes all the more serious when we talk about somebody in a position of responsibility. Teachers,
because they are older, wiser, more experienced, knowledgeable, and they should be aware of
potential dangers, are in a position of responsibility for their students. The key consideration in the
duty of care is does the pupil teacher relationship exist? This doesn t just refer to school hours or
school premises. In fact, the duty of care that teachers owe to their students is greater in some cases
than that of a parent. For example, a parent may leave his six or seven year old child alone in a room,
unsupervised and go to another room for some work, but a teacher cannot afford to do that in the
school. On the other hand, it will be seen to be unreasonable for a teacher to leave a class
unsupervised for any length of time. Also, as teachers may have more than 25 30 students in their care
at any given time, therefore, the duty of care is seen to be over and above that which a normal parent
would exercise over their child. When considering the factors in the duty of care, a number of things
are important. ï‚· The younger the child, the greater the duty of care, although capacity is also
important. ï‚· Potential hazards is another factor in the duty of care. Science laboratories, for example,
can be more dangerous than a regular classroom. Therefore, we need to be more vigilant ï‚· There

The Northwest Territories in Northern Canada
The Northwest Territories is a large mass of Northern Canada. This territory has many advantages
regarding its physical and social settings. The three factor that make the Northwest Territories an
adequate territory to live in is the economy, population, and physical geography.
The economic factors contribute to the Northwest Territories accomplishments. The main industries in
the Northwest Territories are tourism and mining. Since the ground has permafrost and is unsuitable
for farming and agriculture, we use the land for other resources. The Territories most valuable natural
resources are minerals. Copper is extracted on the Coppermine River and oil is pumped on the
Mackenzie River. Gold and diamonds can also be found in the region. The amount of diamonds makes
the Northwest Territories the third largest manufacturer of diamonds in the world. The territory also
has silver, cadmium, lead, tungsten, zinc, and nickel. As measured by the GDP, The Northwest
Territory s economy is highly influenced by the global economy. Its workforce currently has the
highest average income in Canada and amongst the lowest tax rates in Canada. As of January 2014 the
employment rate was 68.4 percent. With its success in industry and increase in population, the

The Aspects Of Roman Life Regarding Music
The feelings that the Ancient Romans had towards music could be described as ambivalent. They
admired it and at the same time, they condemned it. Music, nevertheless, played a role in Roman
society that, as time passed, became less and less important to the Romans. As a result, much of the
information about music in Ancient Rome has been lost in time. However what has been discovered
about this topic is quite fascinating, in spite of what it is lacking. The subsequent paragraphs will
explain some of the aspects of Roman life regarding music. This includes the history of music in
Ancient Rome, the instruments that the Romans played, the uses of music in their society and the
impact that music in Rome has had on the music of today. The Romans were not the most innovative
of ancient cultures when it came to music, as it wasn t held to the same importance in Rome as it was
in other cultures. Regardless, the Romans did very much enjoy music and admire its use in other
cultures. And so, instead of creating a Roman version of music, they borrowed the musical
instruments and musical theory from those other cultures. One of them was Etruscans. Though the fact
that the Etruscans had an impact on music in Rome is known, the magnitude of that impact is
unknown, but instruments used in Roman life such as the tuba and the cornu are believed to have been
borrowed from the Etruscans. However, it was the Greeks that had the greatest influence on Roman
music. A multitude of instruments used

Oviducts
The main purpose of the oviducts is to be the site of fertilization and receive ovulated oocyte. The
oviduct includes the fallopian, or uterine tubes. The ovulated oocyte, or ovum, travels from the ovary
to the uterus through the oviduct. The fallopian tube is comprised of three parts, the infundibulum,
ampulla and isthmus. The infundibulum is comprised of ciliated fimbriae and located at the cranial
end of the fallopian tube. The ampulla, the actual site of fertilization, is located between the
infundibulum and isthmus. The isthmus, joined to the uterus, functions as a container for sperm.
Sperm is released from the mucosa layer of the isthmus.
When a fertilized ovum implants somewhere other than the uterus, this causes an ectopic pregnancy.

Why Nuclear Weapons are Essential
Out of all the dangerous powers and authority our government wields, possibly the most threatening
powers are nuclear weapons. People tend to be frightened by things they do not understand, which
make nuclear weapons a perfect catalyst for fear. These weapons have the most overwhelming and
destructive power known to man; although, nuclear weapons are only safe in countries that try to
maintain harmony and stability. Nuclear weapons are defined as explosive devices whose destructive
potential derives from the release of energy that accompanies the splitting or combining of atomic
nuclei. This power is both dangerous and unstable in the hands of small erratic countries. At this time

Likewise, nuclear scientists have been approached by a number of non state actors, including terrorist
parties. The threat of these miniscule, radical, and highly unstable groups obtaining nuclear power
increases daily. Should terrorist groups obtain the information needed to produce nuclear weapons not
only the United States, but also the entire world will be put at dire risk. Nuclear Deterrence is a
preventative strategy to assure the protection of a country in the event of a nuclear attack.
Nuclear weapons exist to keep peace between all nations, and to defend the nations they are housed in.
The power of these weapons should only be used as a last resort to maintain order and balance in the
world. To prevent nuclear attack powerful nations such as China, Russia, and the United States
stockpile nuclear weapons to assure retaliation in the event of nuclear war. Strategic nuclear
prevention works for numerous reasons. One reason is that nations are afraid of nuclear retaliation.
Avoidance also helps to maintain the equilibrium of power between nations without nuclear weapons.
The danger associated with the use of nuclear weaponry is often enough to keep nations from using
their weapons. All countries must decide if the interests causing them to use nuclear weapons are
worth the risk. Smaller, less developed countries may feel threatened due to their lack of nuclear
power when compared to more powerful

My Community Service Hours, By Paul Magedson
For my community service hours, I went to the Good Earth Organic Farm in Celeste, TX owned by
Paul Magedson. It is a certified organic farm that prides itself on not using extensive herbicide and
pesticide use[d] by intensive conventional agriculture (Andreatta 2000 p.40). Paul s farm grows and
sells organic produce such as cucumbers, strawberries, okra, kale, and tomatoes. He sells grass fed
lamb from the sheep has raises on his farm and he also has chickens. To complete my hours, I went on
two trips to the farm. Our first task was to pick okra and I instantly realized why farmers are known to
have tough hands. As a half hour into picking okra I had two large blisters on both my thumbs. After
picking the okra we weeded the tomato garden. This is where I began to understand just how hard
farming is, since weeding in the hot Texas is tiring. Once we were done weeding, Paul served us lunch
of a fruit smoothie and kale salad. Once we got our lunch we all sat on his porch and discussed how
Paul started farming and his views on industrialized food. Paul began farming because of his ex wife,
which I think made him regret farming as he talked about if he knew how hard farming was he would
not have started his own farm business. However, he did have a passion for growing organic food as
he believed the reason we are getting cancer is because of all the chemical in our food. After lunch
was done he took us to see sheep and I was amazed at how many of them there were. We learned

Research Paper On Teenagers And Plastic Surgery
American Teenagers and Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is not a new field of medicine. Traditionally, plastic surgery dealt with fixing
abnormalities of the body, but recently people are enjoying the luxury of plastic surgery simply
because they are not happy with their appearance. People make appointments with plastic surgeons for
procedures such as rhinoplasty, liposuction, tummy tucks, face lifts, and most commonly breast
augmentation. These people look forward to desired results from such procedures without considering
the risks. Many risks accompany plastic surgery, but they are rarely discussed in the media. Death is

Television shows such as Nip Tuck (FX), The Swan (ABC), Extreme Makeover (NBC), Doctor 90210
(E), and I Want a Famous Face (MTV) influence teenagers to alter their appearance. Through
watching these television shows young people are able to view common plastic surgery procedures.
These television shows that teens are viewing, however, lack an accurate depiction of what could go
wrong in any given plastic surgery procedure.
It is no question that peer pressure is a big issue when it comes to teenagers, but appearance can
literally become an emotional issue. Teens simply follow the norm of society and ask their parents if
they can get a nose job or even breast augmentation. It amazes me how many times I have heard
people tell me that they got a boob job for their graduation gift from their parents. Why would parents
permit their children to undergo the unnecessary risk of injury or even death? Not to mention the cost
of plastic surgery is extremely expensive.
Common procedures that teens undergo include: rhinoplasty, otoplasty, liposuction, face lifts, laser
hair removal, botox injections, collagen injections, and of course breast augmentation. Rhinoplasty is
the reshaping of the sculpture of the nose, and this procedure is the most customary among teenagers.
Otoplasty is the reshaping of the sculpture of the ears. These procedures range from $3000 to $4000.
Laser hair removal costs about $600. Collagen and botox injections, which get rid of the

To ease the process of verification, many new concepts involving assertion based techniques and
functional verification methodologies have been growing over the past few years. New standards that
now involve the Property Specification Language (PSL) and the Open Verification Library (OVL)

verification, a unique aspect of system Verilog is its support for object oriented programming. This
feature makes it usable in a complex environment for testing higher order systems. Being a language
that supports object oriented programming (OOP), the concept of inheritance can be used that

The idea of man versus something in the world is not foreign to most. A lot of the time a person can
find another groaning or complaining about something going on or happening. When in true reality,
there was nothing that person could do about it. The largest opponent that man has gone, and is going,

Policy Makers in the United Kingdom may as well take notice and acknowledge that lower corporate

Several countries lately have reduced or plan to reduce their corporate tax rates in order to stimulate

rates and economic growth for 70 nations over a 27 year period they discovered that statutory
corporate charge rates are fundamentally adversely related with cross sectional distinctions in normal
economic development rates and that reducing the corporate duty rate by 10 percent can deliver a
additional growth rate of 1.1%
Studies such as these provide strong evidence that lower corporate taxes do lead to long term
economic growth and by having high rates we retard the nation growth potential.

The Canadian legislature has set an unequivocal objective of having a lowest corporate tax in the
Group of Seven (G7) nations on January 1st, Canada brought down its corporate tax rate from 18

The Officer says that guilt is never to be doubted, and because he was ordained the judge of the penal

are condemned. However, it is important to remember that the apparatus and its function are simply an
extension of the ideology of the Old Commandant and the Officer who are the true punishers. The
punishments the officer administers through the device to the condemned seem to be an example of

Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches
Oil Drilling Endangers Arctic National Wildlife Riches Can you imagine the grocery stores and
restaurants in your neighborhood disappearing bit by bit? The oil drilling in North Slope Borough,
Alaska, has affected 95,000 square miles of wildlife s habitat. The development of oil industry takes
away what is essential to the lives of the Gwich in: the Caribou. Gwich in villages rely on caribou to
supply their food and clothes. As the oil industry develops in a close proximity to the Gwich in
village, caribou do not go near the area anymore. The villagers can hardly find any caribou now. In her

power; he has made it during a moment of inattention by millions to whom beauty and the ordered
world of nature still have a meaning that is deep and imperative (Carson, 376). We human beings
carry the responsibility of ensuring harmony amongst the living organisms inhabiting all of this planet.
We need to ensure that our ecosystem is protected. In order to prevent further damage to habitats and
extinction of species, we should stop developing oil drill in Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR)
in Alaska.
We know that the oil in Alaska is valuable. Yet, their development and drilling only benefit a small
group of people in society. In A First American Views His Land, N. Scott

Outgrowing the cinematic theories of Andre Bazin and Alexandra Astruc, arising in France in the late 1940s, auteur theory became the theory of filmmaking where the director is deemed as the major creative force in a film. A foundation stone of the French Cinematic movement known as the novelle vague , or New Wave , the theory of director as author was principally advanced in Bazin s periodical Cahiers du cinema founded in 1951 (Britannica, 2015). So what truly makes a director an auteur? As it s believed that an auteur is the author of their film, there are three premises of the auteur theory that makes a director ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over a group of films, a director must exhibit certain recurrent characteristics of style, which serves as his signature. The way a film looks and moves should have some relationship to the way a director thinks and feels. (Sarris) Tim burton s vision of the world is reflected in themes that are strongly shown throughout in his films. The gothic imagery with his ghostly music and misfit theme is a predominant part of Burton s signature making his films easily recognisable. Being a misfit is one of Burton s most concentrated themes. In his films such as: Edward Scissorhands (1990), Alice in Wonderland (2010), Corpse Bride (2005), and Vincent (1982), the gothic imagery and misfit is a recurring theme where the protagonist is a misfit in their society and isolates themselves from society until finally finding a way embrace themselves and their differences to the social norm. Edward Scissorhands being the most resounding evidence of pure auteur ship shows that Burton did not only direct it but conceptualise and commission the screenplay, in this way, the attitudes toward the themes and combination of the specific themes, can be understood as pure creations of the director. Though not only does Burton utilise this constant theme of gothic imagery and misfit but he is also known for collaborating with the same actors when creating his films, such as Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter who are both featured in Dark Shadows (2012),Ed wood (1984),Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) just to name a few. Burton also has the recurring use of the same composer Danny Elfman to set a tone that is easily recognised as Burton s films. • 3. Essay on Analysis of Hopkin s Poem God s Grandeur Gerard Hopkins wrote God s Grandeur in 1877 right around the time he was ordained as a priest. The poem deals with his feelings about God s presence and power in the world. He could not understand how the people inhabiting the earth could refuse or be distracted from God. This confusion was due to the greatness of God s power and overall existence that, to Hopkins, seemed impossible and sinful to ignore. However, as the poem progresses Hopkins expresses hope in the world and God s everlasting presence in it. This poem has much meaning to it and expresses the thoughts and feelings that Hopkins was having at the time he wrote it. When one first reads God s Grandeur it is hard to fully understand what Hopkins was trying to convey. One must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first point is the prominence and greatness of God in our world. The second builds off of the first, questioning the lack of respect, worship, or simple acknowledgement of God by the human race. The third point continues Hopkins s thinking process by expressing hope in the Holy Ghost and his never ending existence in the world. The first point of the poem that Hopkins desired to convey is in the first three lines. The poem starts off by giving a description of God s grandeur in our world. The first line is representative of the time period that the poem was written, The world is charged with the grandeur of God. Hopkins s use of the word charged to describe God s presence, may it have been intentional or not, reflects the world that Hopkins lived in. In 1877 electricity had been discovered, but it was still an uncontrollable and indescribable mystery. It was a power that could not be fully explained just like God s presence on the earth, something that is still as much of a mystery today. It was almost God like, and was a perfect was to explain God s existence. Another comparison is made at the end of line three, It gathers to a greatness, like the ooze of oil. The world under God is being compared to the ooze of oil, expressing how God s will holds the earth together like oil. Throughout the poem Hopkins uses alliteration very effectively and in these first few lines it is blatantly evident. Certain consonants are used in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They talked about how these two songs relied on human logic to establish their arguments and convince them of their meaningfulness through their lyrics. Appeals to reason are derived from logic and adapted in such a way as to appeal to and have an effect on an audience (Bailey, 2006). The songs, The Times They Are a Changin and Keep Ya head up both explores the illogical nature of the traditional way of thinking at the time. Throughout the songs, both artist use verbal opposition and argumentative statements to logically criticize the traditional way of thinking about race and war. Hitler took advantage of situations such as the Great Depression and the Reichstag fire to help the Nazi Party gain support and obtain power of Germany. Along with taking advantage of those factors Hitler was able to convince the members of Reichstag to pass the Enabling Act. Another way Hitler was able to gain more support was by rewarding the people of Germany with organizations such as the Gleichstang and strength through joy. The Great Depression of 1929 impacted Germany tremendously. Already gone through the Hyperinflation of 1923, the struggling Germany economy was facing another challenge. Many Germans encountered unemployment along with German farmers facing the threat of price declines of commodities and also the declining of markets. With many Germans facing unemployment this meant they were not able to earn money so it was difficult to get food or other necessities. This economic hardship gave Hitler the opportunity to reach out to the people of Germany who were outraged and worried about their future. So, this economic tragedy brought new supporters, voters, activists to the Nazi Party, which led them to gain more popularity. The Epistle Of 1st John AUTHORSHIP The author of the Epistle of 1st John is not named in the letter, but church tradition has been strong in affirming John the Apostle, that disciple whom Jesus loved from (Jn. 21:7), as the author. The author declares himself as one who we have seen with our eyes...and our hands have handled (1:1) declaring him an eyewitness to the life and ministry of Jesus. John s authorship was not brought into question until the twentieth century. The epistles of 2nd and 3rd John add to the controversy as they are attributed to a person called The elder who s identity is also unknown (see v.1 in 2nd and 3rd John). The discussion of authorship asks two basic questions in the case of the Johannine corpus, first, were the books all written by the same author and second who was that author. Comprehensive studies of both the style and content of the three epistles shows striking similarities indicative of single authorship. Even the casual reader of the Gospel of John and his First Epistle will be impressed by the similarity of words and phrases in the two books. John s authorship of The Revelation has also been debated despite the four claims by John to be the author within the text its self (see 1:1, 4, 9, 22:8). Data Mining, Partition Based Clustering Abstract Nowadays, Popularity of Internet and wide improvement in enterprise information is leading to vast research in text and data mining, and information filtering. So, the cluster technology is becoming the core of text mining. Clustering is an important form of data mining. Clustering is a process of grouping similar sets of data into a group, called clusters. This paper comprises of text clustering algorithms, also analysis and comparison of the algorithms are done with respect to the applicable scope, the initial parameters , size of dataset, accuracy, dimensionality, cluster shape and noise sensitivity. Algorithms are classified as partitioned based clustering, hierarchical clustering, density based , self organizing maps and fuzzy clustering techniques. The brief idea of each clustering technique is mentioned in this paper. Keywords Clustering, Data mining, partition based clustering, hierarchical based clustering, density based clustering. I. INTRODUCTION Wide range of data is collected in different databases because of advanced techniques of data collection. The demand for grouping the valuable data and extracting only the useful information from data is increased. Clustering is the distribution of data into groups of identical objects which has similarity within the cluster and dissimilarity with the objects in the other groups [2]. This becomes all the more serious when we talk about somebody in a position of responsibility. Teachers, because they are older, wiser, more experienced, knowledgeable, and they should be aware of potential dangers, are in a position of responsibility for their students. The key consideration in the duty of care is does the pupil teacher relationship exist? This doesn t just refer to school hours or school premises. In fact, the duty of care that teachers owe to their students is greater in some cases than that of a parent. For example, a parent may leave his six or seven year old child alone in a room, unsupervised and go to another room for some work, but a teacher cannot afford to do that in the school. On the other hand, it will be seen to be unreasonable for a teacher to leave a class unsupervised for any length of time. Also, as teachers may have more than 25 30 students in their care at any given time, therefore, the duty of care is seen to be over and above that which a normal parent would exercise over their child. When considering the factors in the duty of care, a number of things are important. ï‚· The younger the child, the greater the duty of care, although capacity is also important. ï‚· Potential hazards is another factor in the duty of care. This presumption of innocence is considered to be the foundation of a civilized criminal justice system, as well as within the fundamental rights of mankind. The Officer says that guilt is never to be doubted, and because he was ordained the judge of the penal colony, there is no proper trial or due process needed, as all are guilty in the eyes of the one who judges (Kafka, p.198). If the punishments delivered to the guilty were less severe, than there would perhaps be fewer qualms about the system, however the justice dispensed by the machine is nowhere near reasonable or humane, dispensing grievous punishments that far exceed most crimes to those who are condemned. However, it is important to remember that the apparatus and its function are simply an extension of the ideology of the Old Commandant and the Officer who are the true punishers. The punishments the officer administers through the device to the condemned seem to be an example of just one of the two types of justice criticized in the text.
