Why Evolution Is True
Oakley T. Lowe
St. Leo s University
Abstract
Throughout history, there has been a major debate on the theory of evolution. Is it true? The term
evolution has been defined many ways, and for the purpose of this paper, I will use the fourth
definition from the Merriam Webster dictionary. Evolutionis the descent with modification from
preexisting species: cumulative inherited change in a population of organisms through time
leading to the appearance of new forms: the process by which new species or populations of living
things develop from preexisting forms through successive generations. (Merriam Webster, 2017)
What does this mean and how could it possibly be true? In this paper, I will explain the different
ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(What is Darwin s Theory of Evolution, 2015) He thought that over time, species would change
and adapt in accordance with their environment, allowing for better chances of survival and
reproduction. Darwin also believed that all species shared a common ancestor. (History of
Evolutionary Thought, 2017) These theories are still an ongoing debate in our world today and
many people don t believe in evolution. People like Charles Darwin have opened up a doorway for
us to piece the earth s mysterious history together in a way that allows us to get a glimpse of why
evolution is true. Much more evidence has been gathered over time and still, some people refuse to
accept the fact that evolution is real. They are attached to the simple concepts and statements they
have heard over the years that make evolution sound ignorant. I will attempt to go through a
plethora of evidence that shows that evolution is not ignorant, but an amazing understanding of
how life on earth came to be.
Fossils
The first piece of evidence towards evolution I would like to talk about is fossils. Over the years,
we have collected pieces of evidence all across the globe that show us how much our world has
changed. The fossil record has allowed us to put into chronological order, which species lived on
the earth at what time. We can find a fossils age using the two main methods of either relative or
absolute dating. Relative dating is used to determine a fossils age based off of

Edgar Allan Poe s Impact on American Literature
Edgar Allan Poe is one of the most influential writers of the horror genre in American history. His
horror stories have impacted numerous authors and their stories over the years. Various people
have tried to copy his way of writing style, but they have failed to achieve the success he did. Even
though Poe is no longer living, his impact on American literature can still be felt today. Edgar Allan
Poewas born in Boston, Massachusetts on January 19, 1809. Even though Edgar Allan Poe did
not grow up around his biological parents, his parents were both actors. His father left the family
early on, and his mother passed away when he was only three. ( Biography ) Since Poe did not
have any parents around, he went to live with John and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King has this to say about Poe s works, He wasn t just a mystery/suspense writer, adds the author
many fans would describe as the modern Poe, Stephen King. He was the first (Hockensmith). Poe s
detective fiction or mystery fiction can best be felt in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.
Sherlock Holmes is one of the best knows detectives in the history of literature. His fame can be
spotted in the books that have been written and the movies that have been produced about
Holmes. Poe s works were able to influence the author of the Sherlock Holmes series, Sir Arthur
Conan Doyle, in which he based the character of Sherlock Holmes off of one of Poe s characters
whose name was Dupin who was used in the mystery story The Murders in the Rue Morgue. The
similarities between the two characters are quite grand. Both are solitary men who prefer to live
quietly in either isolation or in the company of one close companion. ( Nineteenth Century
Influenced Poe ). Both men also tend to shift to the bottom of their mysteries without a large
amount of clues that other detective writers appear to have in their stories. The impact that Poe
has had on authors and stories cannot be matched. His stories have provided a model for future
authors to use, in the hope of growing the notoriety of mystery fiction or the horror genre. Poe s
writing was able to captivate people, as stated above, but Poe was also able to reach a plethora of
authors that lived in the South. The life of

The Influence Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Simply put, love is mysterious. As humans have evolved, it arguably remains one of the least
understood concepts in existence. As Helen Fisher quoted Emily Dickinson, Romantic love is an
obsession, it possesses you. You lose your sense of self. The successful neurologists studied the
effects of the human lovefor years and concluded that love propels individuals to often follow
their heart instead of the less spontaneous route that the mind would suggest. One example of the
influence of love is reflected in the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. It narrates
the tragic love story of two star crossed lovers that, despite the short period of time the couple was
acquainted, engaged in love at first sight. As the plot progressed,... Show more content on

Throughout the presentation regarding the brain s peculiar patterns, Helen Fisher noted that no
matter how much people want to ignore and suppress their complicated feelings, love is needed
for existence. In her studies, she explained that she and her partner scanned specific areas of the
brain to examine chemical levels. In short, her experiment observed categories of people in love,
recently dumped, or remained in love for over 20 years. The participants that had chosen love
were proven to show increased levels of dopamine and other hormones that corresponded to
happiness and elation. Surprisingly, the same location of the brain held activity for the recently
dumped participants, however, they felt extreme desperation. In other words, although they
wanted to forget about their dissatisfaction in a ceased relationship, or erase the significant other
from their memory, they were unable to do so because the brain only longed for them more due
to the absence. Helen Fisher perfectly summarized this feeling by quoting, I remember what you
said to me. I am thinking of your love for me. I am torn by your love for me. This contrast
symbolizes the intensity of love, whether it be present or faded, the brain will stay fixed on the
object of your affection. In addition, many people

United States Flag Essay
The very first flag for the United States to have was the Grand Union Flag, in the years 1775
1777. The design of this flag was thirteen red and white stripes, with the red cross of St. Georgia,
England along with the white cross of St. Andrew, Scotland in a blue field. The final split
between the between the colonies and Great Britain brought the removal of the British Union
from our flag. Shortly after came the stars on a blue field. By June 14, 1777 the Flag Resolution
was passed, which is now known as Flag Day. Which basically said that the United Statesflag had to
have thirteen stripes being red and white; that the union have 13 stars that are white with a blue
field. Then, came Francis Hopkinsons design of the United States Flag.... Show more content on

They thought that the stars were taken from the sky, the red was influenced from the British
colors, and the white demonstrated withdrawing from the home country. As for the book Our
Flag the white means purity and innocence, red means hardiness and valour, and blue means
vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The design of the flag however does have a meaning. The
stars symbolize the heavens. Having fifty of the stars, represents the fifty states of the United
States today. The stripes symbolize the rays of sunlight radiating from the sun. Having thirteen
of the stripes, represents the thirteen colonies that proclaimed independence for Great Britain to
form the United States. However, the United States has had many different designs of the flag.
With more states being added, it would be difficult to not create new flag designs. In the year
1795 Vermont and Kentucky were added, which caused the stars and stripes to raise to 15
instead of 13. In the years 1796 through 1817 the states Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and
Mississippi joined the United States. Then the Act of April 4, 1818 called for 13 stripes and a
star for each state. December in the year 1818 Illinois joined, which added another star to the
flag. In 1819 and 1820 two states were added, adding two more stars. In August 1821 Missouri
joined, adding another star. In the year 1836 Arkansas joined. In 1837 Michigan joined. In 1845

How Social Media Has Changed Our Culture
Social media has changed our culture in ways many, in years past, would have thought to be
impossible. With the advent of social media, people are connected around the world. Using the
internet we can have face to face conversations, write letters , play games, and much more with
others instantly without the need of being in the same room as them. Even though we are all
constantly connected, some feel our technological innovations are causing us to become lonelier.
Many feel physical interactions are key to creating emotional bonds. Some even feel left out
because they are not technologically incline. Those who believe technologyis making us lonelier
often note how some people say they have friends that they have never met in real life, or cite
shows like Catfish where people fall in love with others over the internet, but the person they
thought they were talking to is not actually who they were talking to. Though some may think
technology is making us lonelier, in actuality it bring us closer together. The internet is amazing. It
connects people all around the world. A few summers ago I went to camp in New Hampshire and
met people from around the country and around the world. At camp I became friends with a guy
named Vicente. Vincente lives in Spain. We became close friends at camp. When camp was over
we were not disappointed because when we made it back home we connected via Facebook. From
there we exchanged Gamertags and where playing videogames together while

Howard Zinn s Slavery Without Submission
Slavery is a system where an individual can buy or own another person as property. The slave is
at the mercy of their master and is free to be bought, sold, or traded by their master. The United
States first adopted a policy of slavery in the middle of the 17th century. Before American slavery
became solely race based, there were indentured servants. These people worked on farms or
government projects until they had paid off their debts.
Eventually this practice evolved into the race based slavery that is familiar today. African slaves
imported from Africa were cheaper than indentured servants, and they had little to no voice in their
treatment. Hence the first part of the title of Howard Zinn s book Slavery Without Submission .
The African people sent to America might have been slaves, but they never lost hope in their
eventual freedom. Hymns, protests, and spirituals, kept the freedom fervor alive in the ... Show

Although she had been born a slave, she decided to assist her fellow slaves escape. Several forms
of slave resistance were created to combat their masters. Ulrich Phillips, a major historian of the
South, described numerous ways as to which slaves might protest. These included truancy, protests,
and to simply not work as hard . Men such as David Walker and Frederick Douglass felt that slaves
were entitled to their freedom and should in turn fight for their rights.
During the Civil War, the frequency and audacity of African slave revolts increased. For
instance, in 1841 a slave ship was overpowered by its slave cargo and then sailed to the British
West Indies. As the war progressed, Africans became willing to take part in more aggressive
protests. Slave spirituals and songs began to carry bolder messages. Such as the song O Canaan,

Rhodes Must Fall Movement Essay
The following essay will be discussing and analysing the Rhodes Must Fall movement which was
created and encouraged by students at the University of Cape Town in response to The
Johannesburg Salon Vol 9. Throughout this essay, I will be sympathising with the students that
formed the movement, but will also be making a critical observation. The Rhodes Must Fall
Movement was created by the students in order for black students to feel like they belong and
included in the university, as well as for equality for black students and students of colour within
UCT. On the 9th of March 2015, a student from UCT threw human excrement at the statue of Cecil
John Rhodes on campus at the university. By doing so, the student ignited the beginning of student

Decolonisation can be defined as a process which always was and will continue to be a violent
process. This is due to the fact that one man will be replacing another using the same force that
was used to colonise them (Fanon, 2001). Decolonisation can be described as being a process of
complete disorder as it is when two or more conflicting forces meet one another. These opposing
forces will have their own beliefs as well as different ways of doing certain tasks (Fanon, 2001).
The movement of Rhodes Must Fall is exactly that. During the movement, violence is seen when
human excrement is thrown at the statue of Cecil John Rhodes. Another representation of
violence is the sudden outbreak of one of the leaders and the vandalism that was present.
Although Fanon states that violence will always be a part of the decolonisation process, I do not
believe that we should associate and include violence when standing up for what we believe in, as
this may infringe on peoples human rights if one does not feel safe in a certain situation where
violence is a prominent

The Realization Of Racial Equality
The Realization of Racial Equality
In the poem Theme for my English B by Langston Hughes, a poem that demonstrates the struggle
with identity and self realization. The speaker of the poem goes through a journey from confusion
to wisdom, which expands his ideas about racial tensions and segregation. The poem also shows
how finding your identity can help you learn new things about yourself, and also about other people
that you would never have known. Langston Hughes who was one of the most prolific writers
during the 1920s and the 1950s, he was also a big contributor to both the Harlem Renaissance and
the Civil Rights Movement. Hughes poems have contributed to helping people get through racial
discrimination, segregation, and racial tensions during the 1950s.
The structure for Theme for my English B is a free verse. It also shows a lot of enjambment
throughout the poem, which is when the sentence continues to go onto the next stanza without any
sort of pause or break. The poem being a free verse relates to why the speaker is rambling his
thoughts on the paper until he has an understanding of who he actually is, also the poem showing a
lot of enjambment shows why how he is just writing his thoughts throughout the poem. In the poem
with the exception of the first five lines where the professor is giving the assignment, there is no
rhyme scheme:
Go home and write
A page tonight.
And let that page come out of you Williams
Then it will be true (line 1 4)

Childhood Memories of Grandma s House Essay
The familiar smell of soft cookies and homemade cooking are common thoughts when people think
about their grandma s house. Great feasts and family gatherings play a part in everyone s
grandmother s home. But when I really think about my grandma s house only one word comes to
my mind: fun.
A red brick house on top of a small hill is where my memories reside. A slightly curved gravel road
led to the front of the house. Eight or nine rose brown apple trees randomly covered the plush green
lawn. Down the small hill, muddy brown water trickled down a ditch with cattails surrounding it.
One enormous willow tree sat in the background, to the right of the house, to complete the picture.
It almost seemed like a picture from a postcard. But when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

My grandma and my mom would then either can the apples or smash them to make applesauce. I
can still remember the sweet smell of the apples simmering on the stove; it almost smelt like hot
apple cider. The warm sweet taste of the applesauce hot from the stove is embedded in my memory
forever.
Way behind the house, on the farthest side of my grandma s land sat a small broken structure
made of light gray cement blocks, which we named our fort. The whole place reeked of minty
sagebrush and dry dirt. We spent most of the long, hot days there pretending we were Indians
trying to survive, or a family separated by human civilization. I can remember the constant bee
stings that always surprised us. We appeared to be immune to their painful pricks. No matter how
much the stings hurt, we always came running back to play.
The willow tree to the right of the red brick house was also a place that we made our own. The
long, slender branches made soft music when the cool wind swept through them. Although these
branches were weak, we constantly swung from branch to branch like wild monkeys. Sitting
within the farthest boundaries of the tree, we would argue over what we wanted to play and
which part each of us would have. When we would finally figure it out, it would be getting dark
and we could hear the voice of my grandma faintly calling us to come in.
Disappointed at first that we had to come inside, we never regretted it. As soon as

There s competition and capitalism at work, in the context of the impact on certain retailers of

The key purpose of our group assignment was to demonstrate the ability to research and critically
analyse an organisation s structure, culture and approach to management and leadership: this essay
evaluates one aspect of that experience: my approach to conflict and decision to not undertake a
leadership role.

These differences of opinion resurfaced throughout the group assignment.
2.3 Norming
I don t think we ever completely got beyond the storming stage, and although we tried to be
polite at first, the earlier tensions remained and escalated. I m not sure that any group norms
emerged; I felt very little sense of group identity, and believe most of us worked as individuals.
When emotions ran very high, comments became nasty, opinions were dismissed and I felt we
had to break. On a number of occasions I wanted to run away, and did both psychically and
emotionally. Two (strongs) of the group were angered by this but if I had not been able to vent my
frustrations this way, I think I would have engaged in hostile verbal (and perhaps ultimately
physical) attacks, initiated by one of them, and would have ended up more hurt and regretful. The
other three thought it was acceptable behaviour, a legitimate way for me to overcome my stress
and need for physical activity. These are the three who thought my energy and encouragement was
beneficial to the group, which I was very happy about. We just

Legal Submission of Case in Ireland
Essentially, the case in question is one of criminal liability. However, the issues that must be
addressed are that involving the law of evidence in Ireland. There are many legal issues at play
throughout this case that must be addressed in detail. This submission will outline the law, as it
stands to date, in relation to child witnesses, the presumption of innocence, corroboration and
witness competence. It is essential that the law on each of these issues be analysed and interpreted
correctly as Dan s criminal liability hangs in the balance. It is submitted that the trial judgein this
case appears to have erred in his judgement and these mistakes will be outlined below. Throughout
this submission, the law will then be applied in order to correctly advise Dan in relation to his
options and liability.

Traditionally, children s evidence was treated as suspect and the judge in such a case was obliged
to give a corroboration warning to the jury. The Supreme Court established this requirement in the
case of People v Casey , when Kingsmill Moore J held that in cases completely or partially
dependent on visual identification evidence, the trial judge should give a general warning to the
jury. Kingsmill Moore J stated that the unsworn evidence of children of tender ... shall not be

Circular Economy Conceptualization, Fundamental Principles...
Faced with the evidence, that finite resources are being depleted; that we are using more than we
can replace (D. Meadows et al. 1972); and that climate change is likely to worsen the situation for
many people of the world (Stott et al. 2010), business models have to change toward a more
sustainable way of living, manufacturing and consuming; moving away from neoclassical industrial
approaches. This represent the need for a fundamental conceptual shift away from current take
make dispose system, which generate toxic, one way, cradle to grave material flows, moving
toward a cradle to cradle system that can be conceptualized and represented in the Circular
Economy; integrating economic activity and environmental welfare in a sustainable way.
Therefore, the aim of this paper is to concentrate on circular economy conceptualization,
fundamental principles and design process. Exploring some of the strengths and weaknesses in its
application in contemporary business practice, that assisted in proposing and identifying five
business models that can contribute in realizing circular businesses using recent case studies.
Showing that potential sustainable development contributions can be gained, but substantive
revision aspects are recommended, due to the lack of concerns related to barriers and other factors
discussed on the implementation.

Vietnam War and the overall time period. But after listening to some guest speakers and reading
Tim O Brien s The Things They Carried, I discovered that I knew hardly anything, and that most of
what I did know was pretty much insignificant. These past weeks were not only extremely
educating, but it was also very interesting. I learned more than I ever thought I would, mostly
through the people that know it best, those who lived through it.
The most important thing I learned about Vietnam and the time period in which it took place, is
that it was so confusing. It seems as if nobody really knew what was going on or ... Show more

Soldiers were always looking for something to hang on to. They had to forget about their
families and the world they left behind into order to survive. In a place they knew absolutely
nothing about, they were so scared. They were scared of what they saw, but also of what they
couldn t see, which was usually the scariest thing of all. They were scared to make friends, for
fear of suffering loss. They were scared of not making it home. But then again, even after the war
was hard. Soldiers kept on having flashbacks, many became violent. The war changed everyone,
and their families had to pay the price.
The war inspired many of the surviving soldiers to do things. Some wrote books, some wrote
poetry, and some wrote music about their experiences in Vietnam. The war also inspired some
people to do one of the most rewarding things they could possibly do, which is to teach and not
necessarily about Vietnam, but just teaching in general. But those who do decide to teach about
their experiences in Vietnam have the rare opportunity to express themselves, their feelings, and the
material they teach in a way that no other teacher can do. They have the chance to pass on their
knowledge in a unique subject area, where they can it teach better than anybody else possibly could.
So many men died in a war that we should have never been in. And for what? We ended up losing.
Those men died in vain. They

The Mid 1960s
The mid 1970s was a time when some people still identified as hippies. In the small college town
where I lived then I was reading a book in the alternative cafe, when a self styled hippy sat down
at my table. Sharing tables was quite common for that cafe, which espoused a more Marxist,
communal way of doing things. The hippy man appeared to be in his 30s, which seemed ancient
to me at the time. I wasn t in the mood to chat but when I put down my book to greet him he
started talking, expounding on his philosophy of life and his solutions for what ailed the human
race. One of his big ideas involved bananas. He said, Everyone s so depressed and you know
why? I didn t. They don t have enough potassium, man! If everyone ate bananas they wouldn t be
depressed. It s all in the bananas! I had some ideas of my own that were as strange to him as his
ideas were to me. Despite that, we enjoyed each other s company for a little while and shared a
few laughs. He got up to leave and we shook hands. As he walked away he paused, looked back
at me and said, I dig your mirth, man. And then he was gone and I never saw him again. But the
thought of him and our brief connection still makes me smile. Ten years ago I accompanied a
friend being admitted to an inpatient addiction rehab clinic. I sat with him for moral support as the
admission nurse asked him the standard questions. For him, entering rehab was a moment of pure
defeat, barely better than being in the gutter.

The Importance Of Human Nature In Cory Doctorow s Little...
Cory Doctorow s Little Brother is an excellent novel that combines technology and rebellion all
into one book. A group of teenagers living in San Francisco become prisoners of a terrorist attack
investigation when they are arrested and brought to an island by the Department of Homeland
Security. They are treated awfully despite not having committed a single crime. The main character,
Marcus, deems it is in his hands to take down the DHS and get revenge for what they ve done. The
Bay Bridge bombing and terrorist attack, the awful treatment of the characters by the DHS, and
Marcus good efforts to seek revenge, all have an impact on human nature. Doctorow s novel shows
how acts of conflictcan expose the cruelty of human nature as they can inflict tremendous pain on
the vulnerable, but sometimes they can even cause a positive outcome. Organizing a terrorist
attack reveals one s true human nature simply by having created such a vicious and cruel conflict.
Within the beginning of the novel, the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was bombed and thousands of
people got injured and many died. Having said that, one can infer just by recognizing the situation
at hand, that the person who orchestrated the attack, was not in a positive mental state. Marcus, a
character in the novel said, Terrorists don t hate landmarks or bridges or airplanes. They just want
to screw stuff up and make people scared (Doctorow 73). Marcus emphasizes in this line that
terrorists reveal their human nature

Informative Speech Over LS Engine
My informative speech over LS engines went very well. I think that overall things went well
especially the transitions between my points. I chose to do a speech on LS engines because my
grandpas pickup had an LS 6.0. Something that went well in my speech was eye contact and
volume of my speech. I felt relieved when I finished because I do not like speaking in front of
people, especially for a class. My LS was probably the best engine that I ve ever owned. My
grandpa purchased the Silverado with about 80k miles from a good friend and neighbor, Lyle
Ernst. The pickup is a regular cab long box, and currently has 168,000 miles on it. It has a newer

I also put on GM Tow Mirrors, which look sweet. The intake manifold gaskets that came with the
LS 6.0 Vortec engine are junk, so I replaced them with the help of Richard Brennan, the head
mechanic at Sinclair. Michael Dekker and I went through the process of installing Light Pods in
the fog light holes in my front bumper. Since the Silverado is a work truck package, it doesn t
have fog lights, power windows, power locks, or comfort amenities like that. It s a work truck,
and I put in Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlight bulbs, but I wanted more light. Michael and I
went to Advance Auto Parts in Sioux Center and I got LED Light pods. We drilled out the
brackets on the pods and flipped the upside down, affixing them to the body mount behind the
fog light holes. Michael looped power from the fuse block under the hood into the cab, and ran a
return back out. I mounted the pods and then wired the right side to the left side. Michael took
power and ran it to the cab, and we tied the pods into a toggle switch which we hid in a cubby
hole in the dash, so it doesn t look like redneck butchery. If you don t have time to do the project

The Paranormal By Benjamin Radford
This article by Benjamin Radford expresses err in belief of the paranormal by presenting the
argument that ghost hunters frequent mistakes in their investigations, thus rendering their results
invalid. Any belief in ghost like creatures cannot be considered as legitimate because the evidence
is not legitimate. He claims that ghosthunting does not require any kind of professional license, so
any results are a product of effectiveness rather than skill. Furthermore, when findings are
interpreted, investigators tend to disregard any alternative explanation and heed to the emotions of
the supposed victims, which injects bias into any evidence that is collected. In terms of collected

High School Is A Time Of Great Fun
Sophomore year at my school, Greenbrier School District, is our first year of High School. We
are the dreaded underclassman of the school. We get the boos at the pep rallys, we get the worst
lunch tables, we get the bad parking spots, and worst of all when we mess up everyone knows
and finds out. Every High Schooler wants to be cool and liked by everyone especially the cooler
Seniors. Everyone experiences in their life the time of being the Sophomore the rookie and when
you mess up at that time it seems to affect you more than any other time. We feel the most
vulnerable when we are the weaker people, even the smallest things seem to hurt us the most.
High School is suppose to be a time of great fun. In my small town of Greenbrier, Arkansas with a
population of about five thousand people, our Friday night sports are everything. First Security,
a local bank, tailgates before most games, people line up to get good seats, they deck out in
panther gear, and everyone is always smiling and having a good time. At school before the
games we have huge pep rally s where all 3 grades come together and yell and support the
Panthers. A person from the team playing that night speaks about the games and how hard
everyone has worked for tonight. No one is ever sitting and everyone finds it enjoyable. School
pride is of great value to Greenbrier students. However the same pep rally s that made my life
enjoyable, were also the reason I got made fun of for a solid year. We were about

African Countries, Sierra Leon And Ghana
I have chosen to dissect two West African countries, Sierra Leon and Ghana, along with Peru
located in South America and lastly the United States located in North America. Sierra Leon is a
British established colony founded in 1787 for slaves returning to Africa from Great Britain and
also the United States, its primary language is Krio spoken by 97% of citizens. Sierra Leone
became an independent country within the Commonwealth of Nations on April 27 of 1961 and
Freetown was deemed the capital city. Sierra Leone holds a population of 6,453,184 and
population density of 89.4 per square kilometer. In spite that this country is very poor it still suffers
the consequences of the Civil war. Yet its mineral, farming and angling assets still ensures potential
for monetary future developments. Earnest Bai Koroma is the current President of Sierra Leon.
Earnest Bai Koroma is a graduate from the oldest University in West Africa, Fourth Bay College

Azazel Character Analysis
Ch.1
In a small village, far far way from here, there is a little girl named Azazel who is going through
the worst hair day you could ever imagine. As she brushes and brushes her hair, more and more
gets caught and tangled in her brush. So she flings it out her window in anger.
Azazel, your mother grows weaker by the day, come say goodbye for I fear this is the end.
Her father says as he walks into the room and stands behind her
Yikes. That s some head of hair you have there, you had better fix that before you go outside.
He continued as Azazel continued to fiddle with the tangle of hair on her cowlicked head. She goes
to visit her mother down the hall for what is supposedly the final time. Ch.2
Azazel s mother lays in her sick bed, dying from makeup poisoning. Azazel rushed to her mother
side. When her mother spotted the mess of her child her eyes widened in surprise,
My child, my dear precious Azazel. You re such a mess. I have something that will help you, oh
dear... but it will be quite a quest.
The mother states wearily,
Oh please mommy I ll do anything to look better on your last look of me.
Azazel exclaims excitedly at the prospect of taming her hair for her mother s final breath.
Very well, you need to find the diamond hair tie, the silver hair spray, and the golden bobby pins.

Disease, High Blood Cholesterol And Brain Diseases
Diseases or health conditions are more so present in certain familiars than in others. Some are
developed through environmental factors, lifestyle, genetics, and overall health wellness. Diseases
can take different forms and occur at different stages of life. They can affect certain ages and
genders. Through education and proper medical procedures most of them could be prevented and
treated. The diseases that will be discussed further are: Hashimoto s disease, high blood cholesterol,
and brain diseases such as an aneurysm a stroke.

knowing the symptoms ahead of time has an advantage. The sooner you recognize and catch this
disease the sooner treatment can be applicable. This could be also known as primary prevention,
being educated about the disease and how it can affect ones life.

One Denver Apartment building, located at 330 Acoma Street in the Baker neighborhood was

Types Of Enemy Labelling Is An Appropriate Way Of...
While Aday s analysis is well researched, it can be argued that the importance of the variable
enemy labelling has been overstated. From Tables 5 and 6, the coverage on NBC shows the
enemy in Iraq to be called insurgents whereas they are terrorists at FNC. In Afghanistan, at
NBC, they are labelled Taliban or Taliban and al Qaeda differing to FNC s use of terrorist or
jihadist . While the differences in the terms used to describe the enemy is interesting to note, this
does not further the article s arguments against the claim of over reporting negative news. The
analysis of this data is noticeably shorter than for the other variables examined in the study.
There appears to be no new inferences to make from the data in relation to the study. The article
fails to theorise enemy labelling as an appropriate way of analysing its arguments. A response to
this critique may be that the variable of enemy labelling is a direct test for framing or
counterframing. It is important to see whether news coverage is complying with the administration
s frame or deviating from this. Language used in news media is important as it affects public
opinion about the war. It is a subtle element of bias from the news programme that gives away a
political stance that may have not been explicit. This is because it establishes a sense of evaluating
the situation morally. Counterframing, as Aday notes, can occur by the media rejecting obvious
administration framing devices, such as enemy

The Cost Of A College Education
Often students don t believe they can afford college. Their parents don t have the money to assist
them and they know working a part time job isn t going to cover the cost of a college education.
These students should have the same opportunities as everyone else which is why the government
has setup some programs for students that are in need of financial assistance.
Many students may wonder what kinds of federal grants are available. There are a number of
grants available; some of these are Federal Pell grants, Federal Supplemental Educational
Opportunity Grants (FSEOG), Teach Education (TEACH) grants, and Iraq and Afghanistan Service

This particular grant is a grant that requires the student to take certain kinds of classes to receive
the grant. Once the TEACH grant is awarded, the student is required to obtain a certain type of job
for a certain amount of time to prevent the grant from turning into a loan. This particular grant was
established to assist students with college that plan to become a teacher in a high ended field in a
low income area. By accepting this grant, if you fail to teach for a certain amount of time the grant
will turn into a direct subsidized loan that you will have to pay back.
Lastly, there are programs and funds available to our former military members. The Iraq and
Afghanistan service grant is for students that had a parent or guardian that died due to serving in a
military service in Iraq or Afghanistan. Much like other federal grants, Iraq and Afghanistan
service members are provided grant money to be used for college or career school students. This
money is to assist in paying for their educational expenses.
Another question you may hear often is, what steps should you take in applying for federal
grants? There is two steps to applying for federal grants. Well the first step you will take in
getting a federal grant is to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). FAFSA is

Also, going to college or to a university increases the likelihood of receiving a well paying job,
which is why most students attend college in the first place (Learn Liberty).
Students have obviously realized the increasing tuition and have taken action on how to prevent
their wallets being emptied. Although some young people want to attend a traditional 4 year
university and have the full college experience, some students have the option of attending a
community college which substantially has a much lower tuition price than universities. If a
student plans ahead their junior or senior year, they are able to take certain college level course
classes which can actually reduce their college years to three, saving them about 25% in direct

Along with this, universities also have taken the action to help students not go into debt after
college. Universities have the option of reducing administrative staff. One of the drawbacks of
reducing the amount of staff is that there are now more students to teacher ratio meaning larger
classes due to a minimum amount of professors or perhaps more working hours for professors.

The Medieval Church And The Development Of Medieval...
Medieval Theatre was a source of education and reflection for the residents of the Middle Ages.
Serving as an inspiration for Renaissance plays, it took centuries of evolution for Medieval to
accommodate themes outside of the Bible. Theatre in the Middle Ages was an enemy of the
Catholic Church, who tried to terminate these performances. Unusually, the Catholic Church played
a significant role in the development of Medieval Theatre. Although plays were limited to the
themes of the Bible for a long period of time, bizarre masks, costumes and great structuring of
stages were used.
Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, a small group of performers travelled to various
destinations to entertain audiences about all aspects of life. They toured countries and many
regions to tell stories, play music and even perform acrobatic arts. Wherever they went, festivals
emerged. This caused commotion between Religious practitioners, who tried to convert the
performers and end their performances which were deemed sinful. The Catholic Church, which
was highly responsible for the growth of Medieval Theatre, offered a service. This service provided
the dramatization of Biblical stories which were held on church premises. It was not until the 13th
century that religious performances were beginning to be held outside of the church. Medieval
Theatre experienced a fundamental change in its 800 year rule, ending its reign in the 16th century.

How Did Ww1 Affect Australia s Economy
The great impact of changes in Australia s economy during world war one caused a great mix of
emotions. In the effect of Australia s government cancelling existing trade agreements with
Germany and Austria Hungary one of the earliest impacts of the war started to occur. The life of
an Australian worker became very difficult as Australian firms in industries such as steel making

Insanity and the Necessity of Madness in King Lear Essay
The Necessity of Madness in King Lear
At the beginning of King Lear, an authoritative and willful protagonist dominates his court, making
a fateful decision by rewarding his two treacherous daughters and banishing his faithful one in an
effort to preserve his own pride. However, it becomes evident during the course of the tragedy that
this protagonist, Lear, uses his power only as a means of projecting a persona, which he hides
behind as he struggles to maintain confidence in himself. This poses a problem, since the audience
is prevented from feeling sympathy for the king. Shakespeare s ironic solution is to allow Lear s
progressing madness to be paired with his recognition of truth, thereby forcing Lear to shed his

In working so hard to project this persona, Lear is untrue to himself, and loses sight of who he is.
Even the scheming Goneril and Regan notice that their father hath ever but/ slenderly known
himself. (I, i, 282 283) This makes Lear a very insecure person, which explains in part why he
insists that his daughters stroke his ego before receiving any of his kingdom. His identity crisis is
highlighted when he asks who can verify who he is, and the response by the Fool is: Lear s shadow.
(I, iv, 251) At this point in the play, Lear is sane and is still the monarch of the kingdom.
Nevertheless, the Fool s insightful comment insists that Lear is nothing more than a shadow of his
true self. Plato would say that he is trapped in the shadow world of the cave, unable to grasp the
true forms.[5] This self imposed persona estranges Lear from his audience; his vulnerability as a
human is masked by his rash behavior and unjust decisions. Bloom says that before he goes mad,
Lear s consciousness is beyond ready understanding; his lack of self knowledge, blended with his
awesome authority, makes him unknowable by us. [6] Without understanding a character, an
audience is most definitely unable to sympathize with him, and here we run into a potentially
problematic issue. Aristotle believes that

He may have been among them. Yet our headlines, discourse, and survey after survey show we still
wrestle with race.
Yes, Mr. President, we are precisely this divided. About race, and much more.
The Pew Research Center recently reported that for the first time in more than two decades of
surveys, majorities in both parties expressed very unfavorable views of each other. Fifty eight
percent of Republicans have a very unfavorable impression of Democrats, who in turn have a 55
percent unfavorable view of Republicans.
Strong negative opinions often rise out of ignorance. Not this time. Pew also reported 85 percent
of voters say they are following the election closely. Sixty percent say they are more interested in
politics than they were four years ago.
So rather than an uninformed polarization, the growing, gaping gulch between Americans is
widened by the voices to which we give our attention.
A Washington Times story last week screamed, Americans increasingly seeking media outlets that
confirm pre existing partisan views. The Public Policy Polling people recently found Republicans

Wilhelm Rontgen and the Nobel Prize Essay
Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was born on March 27, 1845 in Lennep, Prussia; which is now
Remscheid, Germany. His family moved to Apeldoorn in the Netherlands, where we went to
Institute of Martinus Herman van Doorn, a boarding school. He did not show any special aptitude,
but he had a fascination with nature and loved roaming the countryside and walking through
forests. Later he attended a technical school in Utrecht, but unfortunately was unfairly expelled for
allegedly drawing a rude caricature of one of the teachers, which was in fact drawn by another
student. He then entered the University of Utrecht in 1865 to study physics. He did not have the
required credentials to enter the University, but he heard he could enter by passing an exam. He...

He named this new discovery X Ray because x is the term for an unknown number in
mathematics. It was later called Roentgen Rays although changed back to X Ray . With his new
discovery, he found that the rays would travel through human tissue, but leave a shadow of bone
and metal behind. One of his first experiments was on his wife Bertha s hand with a ring on her
finger in 1895. Medical X rays work by letting fast moving electrons come to a sudden stop on a
metal plate. They show up different on the radiograph because of different absorption rates of
different material. The calcium in bones absorb the most x rays so they appear white on a
radiograph, or the film x rays are displayed on, although other things like tissue, fat and skin
absorb it less so they appear grey. Air absorbs the least x rays so this is why lungs look
completely black on a radiograph. Todays x ray machines are much faster, more efficient and
produce much less harmful radiation. Excessive exposure to x rays can be dangerous but in
modern medicine doctors are able to keep us safe with their knowledge on this. The original x
ray machine took 90 minutes and produced 1500 times the radiation as modern x rays. Wilhelm
Conrad Roentgen has made a huge impact on todays technology. It s obvious to see that inventing
the x ray is a big deal, but this was actually a very big accomplishment and made a lot of new
things possible. Without the x ray our ability in the medical world would be

The Politics Of The Global Essay
INTRODUCTION
The Politics of the Global gives us a narration of how development of international political
economy happens and an understanding of globalization. Globalization is frequently analyzed
independently and the author shows how globalization plays out in two multi cultural democracies;
India and USA. It portrays different political possibilities like colonial coercion, post colonial
ambivalence and post colonial co option that are opened by global relays of meanings, identities
and power from historically different locations. Globalization also explores a variety of spaces and
strategies for resisting the colonization of the global. The author identifies bureaucratic delays and
red tape that happens in government of India as the same of a business man who uses technology to
improve productivity and is professional in his approach. It focuses on reconstructing the state s
economy and its government using the SMART simple, moral, accountable, responsive and
transparent governance argument. He characterizes globalization into three narratives; the
rationalist, historical materialist and the constructivist approaches. Each narrative consists of many
theories some of them disagreeing with each other but at the end of the day, each narrative is united
through shared models of understanding and explanation that seeks to go beyond the international
to access the global (Muppidi, 2004, p.3).
CENTRAL THESIS
In his book, the author brings out globalization and looks at

Perception Of Behavior And Misbehavior
When we talk about behavior in early childhood education; we have to learn or define the concept
of mistaken behavior and misbehavior. Misbehavior is the conventional term applied to conflicts
that the child is involved in, resulting in consequences that often include punishment and the
internalization of a negative label such as naughty . One example of misbehavior is when the child
do something wrong and the teacher put a label to the child like you are a bad boy and the child
felt really gilt. Although teacher who punish misbehavior believe they are shaming children into
good, the result may be the opposite. Mistaken behavioris error in judgment and action behaviors
occur at three levels: Experimentation, socially influenced, and strong unmet needs. For mistaken
behavior examples, the first one is experimentation at this age the child is really curious and they
want to see, touch even taste everything. When the child experiments something that they never
see they get really curious and if you say that they can take something they just grab it and
sometimes brake or loose. The example for the second one; Social influence is: when the
children are in the circle time and one of the child stars to laugh and jump and everybody start it
to do the same. Also, at these are the child is like a sponge sometimes they follow the behavior of
an adult or the teacher like a model. And for the last one Strong unmet needs, the child have a bad
behavior because is passing thought

  • 2. Why Evolution Is True. Oakley T. Lowe. St. Leo’S University. Why Evolution Is True Oakley T. Lowe St. Leo s University Abstract Throughout history, there has been a major debate on the theory of evolution. Is it true? The term evolution has been defined many ways, and for the purpose of this paper, I will use the fourth definition from the Merriam Webster dictionary. Evolutionis the descent with modification from preexisting species: cumulative inherited change in a population of organisms through time leading to the appearance of new forms: the process by which new species or populations of living things develop from preexisting forms through successive generations. (Merriam Webster, 2017) What does this mean and how could it possibly be true? In this paper, I will explain the different ideas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (What is Darwin s Theory of Evolution, 2015) He thought that over time, species would change and adapt in accordance with their environment, allowing for better chances of survival and reproduction. Darwin also believed that all species shared a common ancestor. (History of Evolutionary Thought, 2017) These theories are still an ongoing debate in our world today and many people don t believe in evolution. People like Charles Darwin have opened up a doorway for us to piece the earth s mysterious history together in a way that allows us to get a glimpse of why evolution is true. Much more evidence has been gathered over time and still, some people refuse to accept the fact that evolution is real. They are attached to the simple concepts and statements they have heard over the years that make evolution sound ignorant. I will attempt to go through a plethora of evidence that shows that evolution is not ignorant, but an amazing understanding of how life on earth came to be. Fossils The first piece of evidence towards evolution I would like to talk about is fossils. Over the years, we have collected pieces of evidence all across the globe that show us how much our world has changed. The fossil record has allowed us to put into chronological order, which species lived on the earth at what time. We can find a fossils age using the two main methods of either relative or absolute dating. Relative dating is used to determine a fossils age based off of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Poe s detective fiction or mystery fiction can best be felt in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes is one of the best knows detectives in the history of literature. His fame can be spotted in the books that have been written and the movies that have been produced about Holmes. Poe s works were able to influence the author of the Sherlock Holmes series, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in which he based the character of Sherlock Holmes off of one of Poe s characters whose name was Dupin who was used in the mystery story The Murders in the Rue Morgue. The similarities between the two characters are quite grand. Both are solitary men who prefer to live quietly in either isolation or in the company of one close companion. ( Nineteenth Century Influenced Poe ). Both men also tend to shift to the bottom of their mysteries without a large amount of clues that other detective writers appear to have in their stories. The impact that Poe has had on authors and stories cannot be matched. His stories have provided a model for future authors to use, in the hope of growing the notoriety of mystery fiction or the horror genre. Poe s writing was able to captivate people, as stated above, but Poe was also able to reach a plethora of authors that lived in the South. The life of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Influence Of Love In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet Simply put, love is mysterious. As humans have evolved, it arguably remains one of the least understood concepts in existence. As Helen Fisher quoted Emily Dickinson, Romantic love is an obsession, it possesses you. You lose your sense of self. The successful neurologists studied the effects of the human lovefor years and concluded that love propels individuals to often follow their heart instead of the less spontaneous route that the mind would suggest. One example of the influence of love is reflected in the play, Romeo and Juliet, by William Shakespeare. It narrates the tragic love story of two star crossed lovers that, despite the short period of time the couple was acquainted, engaged in love at first sight. As the plot progressed,... Throughout the presentation regarding the brain s peculiar patterns, Helen Fisher noted that no matter how much people want to ignore and suppress their complicated feelings, love is needed for existence. In her studies, she explained that she and her partner scanned specific areas of the brain to examine chemical levels. In short, her experiment observed categories of people in love, recently dumped, or remained in love for over 20 years. The participants that had chosen love were proven to show increased levels of dopamine and other hormones that corresponded to happiness and elation. Surprisingly, the same location of the brain held activity for the recently dumped participants, however, they felt extreme desperation. In other words, although they wanted to forget about their dissatisfaction in a ceased relationship, or erase the significant other from their memory, they were unable to do so because the brain only longed for them more due to the absence. Helen Fisher perfectly summarized this feeling by quoting, I remember what you said to me. I am thinking of your love for me. I am torn by your love for me. This contrast symbolizes the intensity of love, whether it be present or faded, the brain will stay fixed on the object of your affection. In addition, many people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. United States Flag Essay The very first flag for the United States to have was the Grand Union Flag, in the years 1775 1777. The design of this flag was thirteen red and white stripes, with the red cross of St. Georgia, England along with the white cross of St. Andrew, Scotland in a blue field. The final split between the between the colonies and Great Britain brought the removal of the British Union from our flag. Shortly after came the stars on a blue field. By June 14, 1777 the Flag Resolution was passed, which is now known as Flag Day. As for the book Our Flag the white means purity and innocence, red means hardiness and valour, and blue means vigilance, perseverance, and justice. The design of the flag however does have a meaning. The stars symbolize the heavens. Having fifty of the stars, represents the fifty states of the United States today. The stripes symbolize the rays of sunlight radiating from the sun. Having thirteen of the stripes, represents the thirteen colonies that proclaimed independence for Great Britain to form the United States. However, the United States has had many different designs of the flag. With more states being added, it would be difficult to not create new flag designs. In the year 1795 Vermont and Kentucky were added, which caused the stars and stripes to raise to 15 instead of 13. In the years 1796 through 1817 the states Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi joined the United States. Then the Act of April 4, 1818 called for 13 stripes and a star for each state. December in the year 1818 Illinois joined, which added another star to the flag. In 1819 and 1820 two states were added, adding two more stars. In August 1821 Missouri joined, adding another star. With the advent of social media, people are connected around the world. Using the internet we can have face to face conversations, write letters , play games, and much more with others instantly without the need of being in the same room as them. Even though we are all constantly connected, some feel our technological innovations are causing us to become lonelier. Many feel physical interactions are key to creating emotional bonds. Some even feel left out because they are not technologically incline. Those who believe technologyis making us lonelier often note how some people say they have friends that they have never met in real life, or cite shows like Catfish where people fall in love with others over the internet, but the person they thought they were talking to is not actually who they were talking to. Though some may think technology is making us lonelier, in actuality it bring us closer together. The internet is amazing. It connects people all around the world. • 7. Howard Zinn s Slavery Without Submission Slavery is a system where an individual can buy or own another person as property. The slave is at the mercy of their master and is free to be bought, sold, or traded by their master. The United States first adopted a policy of slavery in the middle of the 17th century. Before American slavery became solely race based, there were indentured servants. These people worked on farms or government projects until they had paid off their debts. Eventually this practice evolved into the race based slavery that is familiar today. African slaves imported from Africa were cheaper than indentured servants, and they had little to no voice in their treatment. The Rhodes Must Fall Movement was created by the students in order for black students to feel like they belong and included in the university, as well as for equality for black students and students of colour within UCT. This is due to the fact that one man will be replacing another using the same force that was used to colonise them (Fanon, 2001). Decolonisation can be described as being a process of complete disorder as it is when two or more conflicting forces meet one another. These opposing forces will have their own beliefs as well as different ways of doing certain tasks (Fanon, 2001). The movement of Rhodes Must Fall is exactly that. During the movement, violence is seen when human excrement is thrown at the statue of Cecil John Rhodes. Another representation of violence is the sudden outbreak of one of the leaders and the vandalism that was present. The Realization Of Racial Equality The Realization of Racial Equality In the poem Theme for my English B by Langston Hughes, a poem that demonstrates the struggle with identity and self realization. The speaker of the poem goes through a journey from confusion to wisdom, which expands his ideas about racial tensions and segregation. The poem also shows how finding your identity can help you learn new things about yourself, and also about other people that you would never have known. Langston Hughes who was one of the most prolific writers during the 1920s and the 1950s, he was also a big contributor to both the Harlem Renaissance and the Civil Rights Movement. Hughes poems have contributed to helping people get through racial discrimination, segregation, and racial tensions during the 1950s. The structure for Theme for my English B is a free verse. It also shows a lot of enjambment throughout the poem, which is when the sentence continues to go onto the next stanza without any sort of pause or break. The poem being a free verse relates to why the speaker is rambling his thoughts on the paper until he has an understanding of who he actually is, also the poem showing a lot of enjambment shows why how he is just writing his thoughts throughout the poem. Great feasts and family gatherings play a part in everyone s grandmother s home. But when I really think about my grandma s house only one word comes to my mind: fun. A red brick house on top of a small hill is where my memories reside. A slightly curved gravel road led to the front of the house. Eight or nine rose brown apple trees randomly covered the plush green lawn. Down the small hill, muddy brown water trickled down a ditch with cattails surrounding it. Way behind the house, on the farthest side of my grandma s land sat a small broken structure made of light gray cement blocks, which we named our fort. The whole place reeked of minty sagebrush and dry dirt. We spent most of the long, hot days there pretending we were Indians trying to survive, or a family separated by human civilization. I can remember the constant bee stings that always surprised us. We appeared to be immune to their painful pricks. No matter how much the stings hurt, we always came running back to play. The willow tree to the right of the red brick house was also a place that we made our own. The long, slender branches made soft music when the cool wind swept through them. Although these branches were weak, we constantly swung from branch to branch like wild monkeys. Sitting within the farthest boundaries of the tree, we would argue over what we wanted to play and which part each of us would have. I wasn t in the mood to chat but when I put down my book to greet him he started talking, expounding on his philosophy of life and his solutions for what ailed the human race. One of his big ideas involved bananas. He said, Everyone s so depressed and you know why? I didn t. They don t have enough potassium, man! If everyone ate bananas they wouldn t be depressed. It s all in the bananas! I had some ideas of my own that were as strange to him as his ideas were to me. Despite that, we enjoyed each other s company for a little while and shared a few laughs. He got up to leave and we shook hands. As he walked away he paused, looked back at me and said, I dig your mirth, man. And then he was gone and I never saw him again. But the thought of him and our brief connection still makes me smile. Ten years ago I accompanied a friend being admitted to an inpatient addiction rehab clinic. I sat with him for moral support as the admission nurse asked him the standard questions. For him, entering rehab was a moment of pure defeat, barely better than being in the gutter. ... • 22. The Importance Of Human Nature In Cory Doctorow s Little... Cory Doctorow s Little Brother is an excellent novel that combines technology and rebellion all into one book. A group of teenagers living in San Francisco become prisoners of a terrorist attack investigation when they are arrested and brought to an island by the Department of Homeland Security. They are treated awfully despite not having committed a single crime. The main character, Marcus, deems it is in his hands to take down the DHS and get revenge for what they ve done. The Bay Bridge bombing and terrorist attack, the awful treatment of the characters by the DHS, and Marcus good efforts to seek revenge, all have an impact on human nature. Doctorow s novel shows how acts of conflictcan expose the cruelty of human nature as they can inflict tremendous pain on the vulnerable, but sometimes they can even cause a positive outcome. Organizing a terrorist attack reveals one s true human nature simply by having created such a vicious and cruel conflict. Within the beginning of the novel, the Bay Bridge in San Francisco was bombed and thousands of people got injured and many died. Having said that, one can infer just by recognizing the situation at hand, that the person who orchestrated the attack, was not in a positive mental state. Marcus, a character in the novel said, Terrorists don t hate landmarks or bridges or airplanes. They just want to screw stuff up and make people scared (Doctorow 73). • 34. Types Of Enemy Labelling Is An Appropriate Way Of... While Aday s analysis is well researched, it can be argued that the importance of the variable enemy labelling has been overstated. From Tables 5 and 6, the coverage on NBC shows the enemy in Iraq to be called insurgents whereas they are terrorists at FNC. In Afghanistan, at NBC, they are labelled Taliban or Taliban and al Qaeda differing to FNC s use of terrorist or jihadist . While the differences in the terms used to describe the enemy is interesting to note, this does not further the article s arguments against the claim of over reporting negative news. The analysis of this data is noticeably shorter than for the other variables examined in the study. There appears to be no new inferences to make from the data in relation to the study. The article fails to theorise enemy labelling as an appropriate way of analysing its arguments. A response to this critique may be that the variable of enemy labelling is a direct test for framing or counterframing. It is important to see whether news coverage is complying with the administration s frame or deviating from this. Language used in news media is important as it affects public opinion about the war. It is a subtle element of bias from the news programme that gives away a political stance that may have not been explicit. This is because it establishes a sense of evaluating the situation morally. • 37. The Medieval Church And The Development Of Medieval... Medieval Theatre was a source of education and reflection for the residents of the Middle Ages. Serving as an inspiration for Renaissance plays, it took centuries of evolution for Medieval to accommodate themes outside of the Bible. Theatre in the Middle Ages was an enemy of the Catholic Church, who tried to terminate these performances. Unusually, the Catholic Church played a significant role in the development of Medieval Theatre. Although plays were limited to the themes of the Bible for a long period of time, bizarre masks, costumes and great structuring of stages were used. Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, a small group of performers travelled to various destinations to entertain audiences about all aspects of life. They toured countries and many regions to tell stories, play music and even perform acrobatic arts. Wherever they went, festivals emerged. This caused commotion between Religious practitioners, who tried to convert the performers and end their performances which were deemed sinful. The Catholic Church, which was highly responsible for the growth of Medieval Theatre, offered a service. This service provided the dramatization of Biblical stories which were held on church premises. One of his first experiments was on his wife Bertha s hand with a ring on her finger in 1895. Medical X rays work by letting fast moving electrons come to a sudden stop on a metal plate. They show up different on the radiograph because of different absorption rates of different material. The calcium in bones absorb the most x rays so they appear white on a radiograph, or the film x rays are displayed on, although other things like tissue, fat and skin absorb it less so they appear grey. Air absorbs the least x rays so this is why lungs look completely black on a radiograph. Todays x ray machines are much faster, more efficient and produce much less harmful radiation. Excessive exposure to x rays can be dangerous but in modern medicine doctors are able to keep us safe with their knowledge on this. The original x ray machine took 90 minutes and produced 1500 times the radiation as modern x rays. Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen has made a huge impact on todays technology.
