reservoir that serves many purposes including the following: flood control, power generation,
recreation, water supply, and water storage. The US Army Corps of Engineers allowed Georgia to
withdraw water from Lake Lanier. However, Alabama and Florida filed a lawsuit against the Corps
due to the fact that Georgia was withdrawing water from Lake Lanier which decreased the
downstream levels. In the 2009 ruling, Georgia as increased their withdraw amount to the point
exceeding WSA which affected the hydropower generation. In the 11th circuit Appeal, Georgians were
given hope in an increase in withdraws from Lake Lanier, but in the end, the Corps repudiated Georgia
s request. However, there was a problem with the law so the Corps is reevaluating Georgia s request.
Georgia has responsibility issues between water storage and hydropower generation. Alabama,
Florida, and Georgia will wait for the Corps decision on the case before they do anything else. This

Leadership Competencies And Leadership Skills
The ability and strength of an individual to achieve goals by supervising processes, guiding initiatives
and employees is defined as Leadership skills. Valuable leadership skills include taking thoughtful
decisions, allocation of resources, and the ability to delegate, inspire and communicate effectively.
Other leadership traits include honesty, confidence, commitment and creativity. Leadership
competencies can be used to effectively select, develop and promote leaders in an organization .The
difference between Leadership Skill and leadership competency can explained as the required level of
efficiency to perform a task assigned is known as skill whereas the quality to accomplish the same is
called as competency. When creating leadership competencies certain factors are considered such as
business strategies and future trends. To drive the use of competencies in selecting and developing
leaders HR practitioners should use the business strategies. To effectively build a unique set of skills
for the organization s leaders, the firm will sustain competitive advantage. The role of a project
manager has always been my interest. The position which I have always desired is a role of project
manager. Leadership skills are utmost important for today s mangers as the Project is entirely
dependent on them , because without a good leader, a project is unlikely to be completed successfully.

The Silent Murder Of The Unborn
The Silent Murder of the Unborn
The legal rights and availability of women to have access to abortions was decided by the landmark
case of Roe v Wade (1) (1973). In terms of how this ruling impacted our freedoms, while it gave the
birthmother a right to choose life or death for her baby; the baby s freedom, that of the right to life, (as
stated in our Declaration of Independence (2)) is totally stripped away. Therefore, the ruling of the
case Roe v Wade (1) was effective for what it set out to do, which was to give the birthmother the
right to choose what to do with her body. However, it set up the issue of having to determine the
viability of the unborn baby, and when life actually begins. Both issues are still being redefined today.
Roe v Wade (1973) (1) involved the plaintiff, a Texas resident, Norma L. McCorvey known as Jane
Roe . In 1970 Jane Roe was pregnant with her third child and was not capable of providing the basic
necessities for her unborn baby. So, she decided to get an abortion. However, during this time period
the state of Texas did not allow abortions, with only certain exceptions such as the mother s pregnancy
due to being raped, or incest, or her life being in danger. Jane did not fit any of these categories and
was denied the right to an abortion. Lucky for Jane, she had an encounter with Sarah Wedinggton, the
prosecuting attorney, who needed a plaintiff in her case to challenge Texas anti abortion laws. Jane
agreed to be involved with the

Sonnet 29
Sonnet 29 1. In the introductory clause of the sonnet, the speaker makes it clear that he envies those
with hope. By this, the speaker means that he resents those who have a clear, bright future ahead of
them, a future made possible by the qualities he goes on to describe. These qualities are friendships,
skill in art, and power (lines 6 7), and the speaker makes it clear that he envies these people by
explicitly stating that he desires what they have. 2. The turn of the sonnet occurs in line 9. The
argument that this line is where the turn occurs is supported by the content of the sonnet both before
and after the line. For example, the subject of lines 1 8 is how the speaker is feeling self pity and
jealousy towards those who have what he does not. After line 9, the subject of the sonnet shifts to how
the speaker finds the thought of his lover to be uplifting and how it makes him feel like he has
everything. This drastic shift in both tone and in subject indicate that line 9 is where the turn of the
sonnet occurs. 3. After the turn, the speaker s diction and imagery indicates that the speaker s tone
shifts to an uplifted and content one. This is evidenced by the image of birdsong rising from sullen
earth , which makes the rising nature of the speaker s tone clear. In addition, the usage of the word
arising also suggests that the speaker s tone is uplifted. Finally, when the speaker says that he would
scorn to change my state with kings , he

Theme Of Caretaker By Harold Pinter
A prolific writer of his time Harold Pinter was amongst the most prominent literary figures of the
British playwrights in 1950s and 1960s. Play, The Caretaker brought him immense popularity. Which
he wrote in 1959. It involves conflicts among the characters as well as depict the struggle for verbal
and territorial dominance. His play was heightened due to use of the pauses and silences. Which
portrays the absurdity of language and human identity in his work due to the societal oppression.
The play The Caretaker represents the human misery and exertion that troubled people in the mid 20th
century after the World War II. Pinter has deftly depicted the hostile conditions that crippled the

Aston and Mick do not have any friendly conversation with each other, so Mick uses Davies as a tool
to bridge the gap of communication between them, in order to create a bond with Aston. He does not
want Aston to live his life in indolence rather wishes him to enjoy life. Breakdown in communication
is a fine example of absurdism. As the two brothers offered a job to Davis as a caretaker. There is no
explanation of him given such a job but it does highlight the futility of a modem man who is a victim
of world wars. One brother is unable to communicate and others hostile and governing way of
communication is unsuitable with Aston. Other force is required to bridge a gap between them both

The film Falling Down Essays
The film Falling Down
Falling Down is a film about a man who we know very little about (at the start) apparently trying to
get home to see his family, it is his little girls birthday.
The film opens with the camera coming out of his mouth and showing his face then the rest of his
body, you notice that he is wearing a white shirt and tie. It then moves around the scene showing you
that he is very hot and stuck in a traffic jam, it shows the people in the cars around him, and his
reactions to these people. One of the more striking reactions is to a group of black kids in a bus with
an American flag on the side. The camera moves around the scene more and comes to show you that

English, I might be able to help you if you speak my language The shop keeper pulls out a baseball bat
and says more clearly I don t want any trouble he takes the bat off of him and starts to smash up the
shop raving about prices being too high.
The comment about the prices in 1965 tells us that this man has obviously not been in mainstream
culture for a long time and by protesting about the prices to the shopkeeper is showing that he has a
very bad temper. Maybe he feels that America was a better place back in those days, this relates back
to the expression he had to the black students in the bus back then neither of these things would be

the reader to relate to the character, how many times have you wanted to do that?

Value Of College Education
When one thinks of going to college, what usually comes to mind is the amount of time and money
achieving a higher education requires. Many people often question whether or not seeking an
education after high school is worth all the effort. Although going to college may sometimes seem
difficult and unnecessary, it has been proven to be an important, beneficial chapter of young adults
lives. The value of a college education is extremely profitable to one s life and career due to the job
opportunities it offers, the skills it allows you to learn, and the benefits it can result in later on in life.
In this day and age, an increasing amount of employers are requiring a higher level of education in
order to hire people. Having a degree allows adults to have multiple choices of when, where, and how
they work. Because of this, college graduates have new and improved employment opportunities. In a
recent study of young americans, 58% of college graduates and people with some college or associate
s degree expressed being very satisfied with their jobs, compared to only 50% of high school
graduates and a drastic 40% of people without a high school diploma. For many people, working at a
job you are fond of is crucial for living a quality life. Having a degree aids in increasing the amount of
choices when selecting a career path you will enjoy. Because of this, college graduates have lower
poverty rates than ever before. The 2008 poverty rate for bachelor s degree holders was 4%,

How Did The Great Awakening Influence The Separation Of...
The Great Awakening was a series of religious revivals that greatly contributed to the separation of
church and state, it did this because it played a part in the growth of different types of Protestantism.
In addition, the Great Awakening embraced evangelical style teachings and focused on church
congregations. Furthermore, the Great Awakening formed new boundaries between the church and
state that before were nonexistent by changing church membership requirements, growth in the variety
of religion and making religion a more emotional and personal experience. The Puritan Church was
wilting under the weight of their doctrines and membership requirements. Some worshipers of
Calvinism due to Jacobus Arminians, a dutch theologian, disagreed with the Calvinist doctrine of
predestination and instead believed that they determine their own future by doing good works. ...

The separation of church and state was becoming a popular policy with the colonists. Furthermore, the
majority of colonists soon decided they wanted the government to have nothing to do with their
beliefs. Unfortunately, government passed laws to keep the church in order, however that only fueled
the colonists to have a separation of church and state. The Great Awakening changed the way people
felt about religion. It made people want to be more independent and be more in touch with God.
Additionally, the Great Awakening reformed the church and believers of God. Furthermore, the Great
Awakening had many effects in colonial America, notably being separation of church and state,

A Christian Art Analysis
As I write this post, a recent memory springs up in my mind. Earlier this year, my dad had an art show
at the Steffen Thomas Museum focused on Christian Art. One afternoon, Chris and I decided to go
over there so I could look at his show. I am always amazed at my dad s art and this was no exception.
As we went from painting to painting, I could not imagine the countless hours he spent on each one of
these paintings.
However, our trip did not last countless hours as I looked over 30 paintings in about twenty five
minutes. This was not due to my lack of interest, but more to my novice mindset towards art. Art is
similar to most skill activities in that people that are active in said activity can better understand and
articulate the small actions that lead to a great piece of art, a great football play, or a great movie. I am
embarrassed to say that I did not pay close enough attention to the intricacies of my dad s art, but I
accepted to write these articles in hopes I could learn more about my dad s favorite past time. ... Show

than the second which has more white spaces separating the strokes. Both paintings are surrounded by
a black box that has an opening on the northwest corner. The opening could be an escape from
whatever the black box contains. But I do not believe that the box holds evil or Chris would have used
a different color than a calming light blue. Imagine the light blue being replaced by a dark red, the
paintings would have a menacing feel to it. The shapes inside the black box make the painting

The Left Hand Of Darkness Feminist Essay
Science fiction plays an important part in feminism texts. According toTom Moylan(1986) science
fiction can serve as a playground for feminist considerations and criticism of gender, sexuality, social
roles and oppression, reproduction, patriarchy, and much more(p.30). Le Guin agrees with this
definition and states that pulling back from reality in order to see it better, is perhaps the essential
gesture of science fiction. Butler (2004) has the similar idea that fantasy is what allows us to imagine
ourselves and others otherwise (p.28). Two science fiction feminist texts The Left Hand of Darkness
by Ursula K. Le Guin and The Passion of New Eve by Angela Carter both deal with gender identity

The leading character Simone de Beauvoir initiated one is not born but rather becomes a woman .
Based on the reading of de Beauvoir, Butler further argues a new concept that gender subsumes sex
which indicates that biological sex is also socially constructed . Butler(1986) forms her new idea that
becomes a woman is a process of constructing ourselves and it is a purpositive and apropiative set of
acts, the acquisition of a skill . For Butler (1990), women can never be and gender is never a noun but
a set of free floating attributes. Hence, gender is proved to be performative(p.18 24). Her idea co
relates with Nietzsche s view of gender that there is no gender identity behind the expression of
gender; that identity is performatively constituted by the expression of one s gender(Butler, 1990, p.24
25). It seems to Butler that de Beauvoir defines gender ambiguously because she misses the
performative character of gender. Butler claims that people need to understand the term woman as the
site of permanent openness and resignifiability , which is different from de Beauvoir s view that

True Love in Shakespeare s Twelfth Night Essay
True Love in Twelfth Night
Unlike the other characters in Shakespeare s Twelfth Night , Viola s feelings of love are genuine. She
is not mistaken about Orsino s true nature and loves him for who he really is, while the other
characters in the play seem to be in love with an illusion. Viola s love for Orsino does not alter during
the play, nor is it transferred to another person.
Viola, alone in a strange land, disguises herself as a man in order to gain access to Duke Orsino s
palace. She plays the role of Orsino s servant, Cesario, to be near him for she knows that he is the man
who can help her in Illyria. On first hearing Orsino s name, Viola says: Orsino! I have heard my father

And so adieu, good madam.
Orsino s love, however, is a courtly love. He claims to be in love with Olivia but seems rather to be in
love with the idea of love and the behavior of a lover. Orsino is a Petrachan lover who chooses an
object that will not return his love. Because he is not ready for commitment, he courts Olivia in a
formal way. By sending his messengers to her house instead of going himself, he does not have to
speak to her directly. Early in the play, Viola realises that Orsino s love for Olivia is denied and that
she would also reject all men for a period of seven years. Viola believes that Orsino might not be
rejected if he visited Olivia himself and says to him: I think not so, my lord, but Orsino, not wanting to
see Olivia himself and wanting to keep up the role of the disappointed lover, insists that Cesario woo
her.
Orsino s reaction to Cesario s true identity and the fact that Olivia has married another man is
surprising. When he discovers the truth, it is evident that Orsino s love is for love itself and not for
Olivia, as he is willing to replace her with Viola. He does not react with shock or even disappointment.
He says instead, ... And since you have called me master for so long, here is my hand. You shall from
this time be your master s mistress. This sudden

Comparing Rap And Classical Music
Rap and classical music are often portrayed as two different types of music. One can tell the difference
of the genre from the sound, and the music s essences. Producers and composers of these two styles of
music present themselves differently, however, they both do what they love and express their emotions
through vocals or use of instruments. Almost all Rap artists write their own lyrics. Because of this,
most rap songs are direct and often very personal. Most rap music s instruments are electronic, and
computer generated. As for classical music, it has more of a sophisticated sound. This style of music
has a strong emphasis on beauty, balance, and elegance. However, if you take your time and listen to
both genres carefully, you can find many similarities between the two through the use of tempo,
melody, and rhythm. Both classical and rap music have history. Even though classical is mostly just
instruments playing, the composers, like rap artists, write their own music and lyrics. What makes a
song interesting and powerful is when it has story to tell. Any musician that writes their own music is
a form of expression that they voice to their audience and listeners. ` Ever since I was young I have
always had a passion for music. I love understanding what drove the artist or musician to write that
song. I never thought I would take the time to really appreciate classical music until I took this music
course. I attended two classical concerts that left me entirely speechless.

The Merger Of U.s. Airways And American Airlines
Since the merger of U.S. Airways and American Airlines, most people would now agree we are living
in the age of airline oligopoly. Oligopolies form when there s a state of restricted competition, and
new companies cannot break into the industry for reasons like high entry costs or government
restrictions. This is the condition of the airline industry, today. In order to breach the oligopolistic
nature of the airline industry, airlines must be able to break through high barriers to entry such as:
retaining substantial capital requirements, having the need for technical and technological ingenuity
and jurisdiction of patent rights. In addition, airplanes must be purchased, employees must be trained
and facilities must be procured. Even after all these expenditures, some airlines still experience
substantial financial losses. As a result, most of these airlines experiencing a financial hardship are
subject to an airline merger. For this reason, the major airlines in the United States now consist of four
competing large carriers: American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines.
These companies have survived the deregulation of the airline industry and sustained their places at
the top of the industry. In an effort to stand out in an oligopolistic industry, airlines must experience:
economy of scale, growth through merger, mutual dependence and price rigidity and non price
competition.
In the oligopolistic airline industry, economy of scale enables

Gastric Digestion Research Paper
1. Firstly, the cracker enters the mouth. This is where the cracker is physically broken down by
chewing, and chemical digestion of carbohydrates begins. Salivary glands in the mouth produce saliva
which moistens dry food and contains salivary amylase, a digestive enzyme that breaks down
carbohydrates. The cracker is then swallowed. Paristalsis (involuntary muscle contractions) push food
down the esophagus. In the stomach the cracker bathes it in gastric juices. Gastric juice is composed
of three main parts; hydrochloric acid, mucus, and pepsin. Hydrochloric acid helps to digest the
cracker chemically and protects the body by killing bacteria present in the cracker. Mucus acts as a
protective barrier preventing the gastric juice from burning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

From the right atrium the blood moves into the right ventricle through the AV valve. When the
ventricles contract the blood is moves through the semilunar valve into the pulmonary artery. This
artery then branches off into the left lung and the right lung so that the blood can become oxygenated.
The oxygen rich blood returns to the left atrium of the heart through the pulmonary veins.
4. The kidneys filter the blood to remove wastes, like excess water, and produce urine. The ureters,
urinary bladder, and urethra together form the urinary tract, which drain urine from the kidneys. They
also store the urine then release it during urination. The kidneys filter metabolic wastes, excess ions,
and chemicals from the blood to form urine.
Gravity as well as peristalsis of muscle tissue in the walls of the ureters move urine toward the
bladder. The ends of the ureters extend into the urinary bladder and are attached to the ureterovesical
valves. These valves prevent urine from flowing back towards the kidneys.
The urinary bladder is used for the storage of urine. Urine entering the urinary bladder from the
ureters slowly fills the bladder and stretches

Concussions In Sports Narrative
October 16th 2013 I was at work performing my normal duties, when as I lifted on a box to put it on a
self above my head, I felt and heard a tearing/popping sound coming from my left shoulder. I was in
serious pain after that. My employer had me feel out an accident report, and then sent me to their
doctor. After being examined by the doctor, I was told that I just strained my left shoulder and put me
on a temporary restriction, which limited the amount of weight I could lift. I was also told to come
back for physical therapy once a week. After 5 weeks of physical therapy and with the pain almost
unbearable, I decided to go to my own doctor. My doctor examined me and immediately scheduled an
MRI. The MRI showed that I had a tear down the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reflection Of My Field Placement
Reflection
For my field placement this semester I have been placed in School Lane Charter school located in
Bensalem, PA. This charter school takes great measures in making sure their students get the best
quality education. School Lane is an inclusive school, which means that students with or without
disabilities are able to learn together, in the most least restrictive environment. I am placed in a first
grade classroom this semester in Ms. Cameron s room. The student who I chose to observe is Ben.
Mrs. Cameron picked this student for me because it appears that he has some academic struggles
followed by some deficits in social interaction and repetitive behavior such as, rocking back and forth.
However, he has yet to be evaluated thus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After reading the short story as a whole, Ms. Cameron then wanted the students to read independently.
I saw Ben using skills such as, pointing to the words as he read them. However, he often pointed
twice, or skipped pointing to particular words altogether. In addition to this, while reading Ben
omitted and added new words without self correction. This made me think that this was his way of
trying to understand the text. This also leads me to believe that Ben is having some difficulty with
word recognition and fluency/pace. When Ben read the book the second time he used the pictures to
read the story with no regard for the text. This tells me that he is able to interpret the pictures in order
to understand the story when he is not able to read the sentences.
The second lesson I observed was geared towards phonemes, segmenting and blending. Ms. Cameron
did a lot of modeling before this lesson. Although I have only been in her class twice, I can tell she is a
firm believer in the I do, we do, you do method. Ms. Cameron gathered all the students on the rug and
showed the class how to tap out different sounds of the letters in words like sit, mud, sad using their
fingertips. Ben did not participate in this for the majority of the guided practice. I believe that this was
due to Ben s lack of attention during the instruction. He was rocking back and forth in his spot, in
addition to curling his legs

LDCT Screening
According to recent studies at Indiana Universty School of Medicine, alternative methods for
detecting non small cell lung cancer are emerging. The current methods of detecting NSCLC may be
effective, but they are also very expensive. One method called a low dose computed tomography
(LDCT) has been successful in identifying malignant tumors. However, routine LDCT screenings
would result in 1.3 to 2 billion dollars nationally in health care costs annually. Deig, Mendonca, and
Lautenschlaeger suggest that pursuing other methods of screening for NSCLC would significantly
decrease this cost. If screenings could be conducted in a cost efficient and effective manner, then the
expensive LDCT procedure would only have to be conducted for patients who ... Show more content

Biomarkers are natural indicators in the body that respond noticeably to the presence of disease. By
measuring the responses of biomarkers, oncologists detect the cancerous cells before recommending
expensive procedures, rather than immediately resorting to these procedures. One of these biomarkers
that responds to the presence of cancerous cells is microRNA. MicroRNAs are molecules that are
involved in the cell life cycle and therefore the progression of cancerous cells. A study in cancer
patients was conducted to compare the accuracy of screening with microRNAs to screening with
LDCT. Observing microRNAs did not prove to be as accurate at identifying cancer as LDCT, but
since using microRNAs is a less expensive process, it can identify patients that should undergo LCDT
testing. Screening with microRNA testing initially would decrease the number of patients paying for
LCDT testing. Another biomarker that can be observed in response to cancer is ct DNA. Ct DNA
refers to fragments of DNA from tumors found circulating in the blood stream. A recent study
indicated that observing ct DNA could have multiple useful applications for oncologists. Ct DNA
analysis during treatment could serve as an indication of how tumors react to treatment methods and
whether recurrence is likely. Detecting ct DNA in the bloodstream could even serve as an early sign of
cancer, observable before imaging tests even show tumors. However, ct DNA analysis has not yet
proved to be a replacement for LDCT

Leadership And The Leadership Styles
1. Webster s defines Leadership as the action of leading a group of people or an organization . That
definition really does the word no justice because leadership can look like a great many things to
different people, and there are equally as many ways to lead. One can lead through fear or respect, by
word or by action. Introduction: My definition of leadership and the leadership influences in my
career. I have had numerous leaders that have influenced my career and leadership style to this point.
The Chief on my first Patrol Boat was one of the biggest influences I have had in my career. I
remember how he carried himself with confidence. He empowered his people. He had the personal
power to inspire people to want to be better to not disappoint him. But at the same time was able to
hold people accountable, and have you learn from the experience. I also had a cutter CO that
illustrated for me all the qualities I promised myself I would never be. They did not treat their crew
with respect. By their level of micromanagement, they demonstrated that they did not trust their crew.
People just dreaded coming to work never knowing what the day was going to bring. Even as I strive
to ensure I am never like that leader, there are times that I stop and find myself thinking along the
same lines, and demonstrating some of the same weaknesses. I can see how they fell into the traps that
they did. I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish in my career, and am happy

True Despair Short Story
True Despair
Four years ago today was his first time feeling true happiness. Now the day reminds him of how badly
he messed up one year ago. Just one wrong turn led to a life of despair.
It was his last time ever experiencing true happiness. Four years ago, Jeff was still in college when he
met the girl of his dreams, or so he thought. Her name was Jessica. Jess was a quiet girl, but one day
in the hall Jess bumped into Jeff and after that, it was love at first sight, though the both of them were
too shy to say anything at first, they both knew from a spark in their eyes that they were destined to be
together in someway.
Over a year both Jess and Jeff were both going about their lives as average everyday students in
college. Jeff attending his classes, doing his chores around his dorm, and keeping up with his family
as they lived far from the college he was attending.Jess usually hanging with her friends, keeping up
with class work and playing video games online. They only saw each other in the hall every now and
then until, by some random chance of fate, they both chose the same class and were placed together,
and that s when Jess thought that she had the courage to tell him how she really felt but she was too
shy, so things didn t move that fast.
Weeks passed until one day Jess came to school but something was different about her. Most didn t
notice at first, but Jeff noticed right away. Her hair was a bright crimson red color. After seeing that,
something made him immediately go speak to her. He asked her out and she said that she would have
a response after class. Knowing she would say yes, she first wanted to tell her friends about what had
happened. Most of her friends all told her that this could mean the rest of her life, but she knew she
waited an entire year, so she thought she was ready. In the meantime, Jeff was talking to his friends
about if he really should have asked her out, without even knowing a thing past her name. Doubts
filled his mind as more time passed by. He lays down in his dorm to calm himself down until he gets a
text from an unknown number, saying, Meet me behind the music building at sunset. Not knowing
who sent the text, Jeff tells his friends to come with him as he goes to

In the planning cycle, the planning characteristic can be reflected into the respond section of it. There
are two different planning styles that can be use, the DOPS planning cycle (MoE, 1998) or the

the environment is viewed as the foundation of the child s learning. Te Whāriki defines planning as
helping adults who work in early childhood education to understand what young children are learning,
how the learning happens, and the role that both adults and other children play in such learning (MoE,
1996, p.28). Observations have a very important role in planning for the child, as the observation
shows a lot about a child and what their interests are, which can help to determine the what next
characteristic to extend children interests. Observations help teachers to plan in regards to what they
have seen (MoE, 1996). It helps to create an environment that facilitates the children s learning, so
that they can get the optimal benefits in regards to what they are interested in. It also indicate what
may not be working in the centre therefore the teachers can plan to improve, or take it out or do

The US Army Corps of Engineers allowed Georgia to withdraw water from Lake Lanier. However, Alabama and Florida filed a lawsuit against the Corps due to the fact that Georgia was withdrawing water from Lake Lanier which decreased the downstream levels. In the 2009 ruling, Georgia as increased their withdraw amount to the point exceeding WSA which affected the hydropower generation. In the 11th circuit Appeal, Georgians were given hope in an increase in withdraws from Lake Lanier, but in the end, the Corps repudiated Georgia s request. However, there was a problem with the law so the Corps is reevaluating Georgia s request. Georgia has responsibility issues between water storage and hydropower generation. Alabama, Florida, and Georgia will wait for the Corps decision on the case before they do anything else. Leadership Competencies And Leadership Skills The ability and strength of an individual to achieve goals by supervising processes, guiding initiatives and employees is defined as Leadership skills. Valuable leadership skills include taking thoughtful decisions, allocation of resources, and the ability to delegate, inspire and communicate effectively. Other leadership traits include honesty, confidence, commitment and creativity. Leadership competencies can be used to effectively select, develop and promote leaders in an organization .The difference between Leadership Skill and leadership competency can explained as the required level of efficiency to perform a task assigned is known as skill whereas the quality to accomplish the same is called as competency. • 7. The Silent Murder Of The Unborn The Silent Murder of the Unborn The legal rights and availability of women to have access to abortions was decided by the landmark case of Roe v Wade (1) (1973). In terms of how this ruling impacted our freedoms, while it gave the birthmother a right to choose life or death for her baby; the baby s freedom, that of the right to life, (as stated in our Declaration of Independence (2)) is totally stripped away. Therefore, the ruling of the case Roe v Wade (1) was effective for what it set out to do, which was to give the birthmother the right to choose what to do with her body. However, it set up the issue of having to determine the viability of the unborn baby, and when life actually begins. Both issues are still being redefined today. Roe v Wade (1973) (1) involved the plaintiff, a Texas resident, Norma L. McCorvey known as Jane Roe . In 1970 Jane Roe was pregnant with her third child and was not capable of providing the basic necessities for her unborn baby. So, she decided to get an abortion. However, during this time period the state of Texas did not allow abortions, with only certain exceptions such as the mother s pregnancy due to being raped, or incest, or her life being in danger. Jane did not fit any of these categories and was denied the right to an abortion. Lucky for Jane, she had an encounter with Sarah Wedinggton, the prosecuting attorney, who needed a plaintiff in her case to challenge Texas anti abortion laws. Jane agreed to be involved with the ... • 8. Sonnet 29 Sonnet 29 1. In the introductory clause of the sonnet, the speaker makes it clear that he envies those with hope. By this, the speaker means that he resents those who have a clear, bright future ahead of them, a future made possible by the qualities he goes on to describe. These qualities are friendships, skill in art, and power (lines 6 7), and the speaker makes it clear that he envies these people by explicitly stating that he desires what they have. 2. The turn of the sonnet occurs in line 9. The argument that this line is where the turn occurs is supported by the content of the sonnet both before and after the line. For example, the subject of lines 1 8 is how the speaker is feeling self pity and jealousy towards those who have what he does not. After line 9, the subject of the sonnet shifts to how the speaker finds the thought of his lover to be uplifting and how it makes him feel like he has everything. This drastic shift in both tone and in subject indicate that line 9 is where the turn of the sonnet occurs. 3. After the turn, the speaker s diction and imagery indicates that the speaker s tone shifts to an uplifted and content one. This is evidenced by the image of birdsong rising from sullen earth , which makes the rising nature of the speaker s tone clear. In addition, the usage of the word arising also suggests that the speaker s tone is uplifted. Finally, when the speaker says that he would scorn to change my state with kings , he ... As the two brothers offered a job to Davis as a caretaker. There is no explanation of him given such a job but it does highlight the futility of a modem man who is a victim of world wars. One afternoon, Chris and I decided to go over there so I could look at his show. I am always amazed at my dad s art and this was no exception. As we went from painting to painting, I could not imagine the countless hours he spent on each one of these paintings. However, our trip did not last countless hours as I looked over 30 paintings in about twenty five minutes. This was not due to my lack of interest, but more to my novice mindset towards art. Art is similar to most skill activities in that people that are active in said activity can better understand and articulate the small actions that lead to a great piece of art, a great football play, or a great movie. I am embarrassed to say that I did not pay close enough attention to the intricacies of my dad s art, but I accepted to write these articles in hopes I could learn more about my dad s favorite past time. ... But I do not believe that the box holds evil or Chris would have used a different color than a calming light blue. According toTom Moylan(1986) science fiction can serve as a playground for feminist considerations and criticism of gender, sexuality, social roles and oppression, reproduction, patriarchy, and much more(p.30). Le Guin agrees with this definition and states that pulling back from reality in order to see it better, is perhaps the essential gesture of science fiction. Butler (2004) has the similar idea that fantasy is what allows us to imagine ourselves and others otherwise (p.28). Two science fiction feminist texts The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. The leading character Simone de Beauvoir initiated one is not born but rather becomes a woman . Based on the reading of de Beauvoir, Butler further argues a new concept that gender subsumes sex which indicates that biological sex is also socially constructed . For Butler (1990), women can never be and gender is never a noun but a set of free floating attributes. Hence, gender is proved to be performative(p.18 24). Her idea co relates with Nietzsche s view of gender that there is no gender identity behind the expression of gender; that identity is performatively constituted by the expression of one s gender(Butler, 1990, p.24 25). It seems to Butler that de Beauvoir defines gender ambiguously because she misses the performative character of gender. He claims to be in love with Olivia but seems rather to be in love with the idea of love and the behavior of a lover. Orsino is a Petrachan lover who chooses an object that will not return his love. Because he is not ready for commitment, he courts Olivia in a formal way. By sending his messengers to her house instead of going himself, he does not have to speak to her directly. Early in the play, Viola realises that Orsino s love for Olivia is denied and that she would also reject all men for a period of seven years. Viola believes that Orsino might not be rejected if he visited Olivia himself and says to him: I think not so, my lord, but Orsino, not wanting to see Olivia himself and wanting to keep up the role of the disappointed lover, insists that Cesario woo her. Orsino s reaction to Cesario s true identity and the fact that Olivia has married another man is surprising. When he discovers the truth, it is evident that Orsino s love is for love itself and not for Olivia, as he is willing to replace her with Viola. He does not react with shock or even disappointment. • 17. Comparing Rap And Classical Music Rap and classical music are often portrayed as two different types of music. One can tell the difference of the genre from the sound, and the music s essences. Producers and composers of these two styles of music present themselves differently, however, they both do what they love and express their emotions through vocals or use of instruments. Almost all Rap artists write their own lyrics. Because of this, most rap songs are direct and often very personal. Most rap music s instruments are electronic, and computer generated. As for classical music, it has more of a sophisticated sound. This style of music has a strong emphasis on beauty, balance, and elegance. However, if you take your time and listen to both genres carefully, you can find many similarities between the two through the use of tempo, melody, and rhythm. Both classical and rap music have history. Even though classical is mostly just instruments playing, the composers, like rap artists, write their own music and lyrics. What makes a song interesting and powerful is when it has story to tell. Any musician that writes their own music is a form of expression that they voice to their audience and listeners. ` Ever since I was young I have always had a passion for music. I love understanding what drove the artist or musician to write that song. I never thought I would take the time to really appreciate classical music until I took this music course. I attended two classical concerts that left me entirely speechless. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. The Merger Of U.s. Airways And American Airlines Since the merger of U.S. Airways and American Airlines, most people would now agree we are living in the age of airline oligopoly. Oligopolies form when there s a state of restricted competition, and new companies cannot break into the industry for reasons like high entry costs or government restrictions. This is the condition of the airline industry, today. In order to breach the oligopolistic nature of the airline industry, airlines must be able to break through high barriers to entry such as: retaining substantial capital requirements, having the need for technical and technological ingenuity and jurisdiction of patent rights. In addition, airplanes must be purchased, employees must be trained and facilities must be procured. Even after all these expenditures, some airlines still experience substantial financial losses. As a result, most of these airlines experiencing a financial hardship are subject to an airline merger. For this reason, the major airlines in the United States now consist of four competing large carriers: American Airlines, Delta Airlines, United Airlines and Southwest Airlines. These companies have survived the deregulation of the airline industry and sustained their places at the top of the industry. In an effort to stand out in an oligopolistic industry, airlines must experience: economy of scale, growth through merger, mutual dependence and price rigidity and non price competition. In the oligopolistic airline industry, economy of scale enables ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, routine LDCT screenings would result in 1.3 to 2 billion dollars nationally in health care costs annually. By measuring the responses of biomarkers, oncologists detect the cancerous cells before recommending expensive procedures, rather than immediately resorting to these procedures. One of these biomarkers that responds to the presence of cancerous cells is microRNA. MicroRNAs are molecules that are involved in the cell life cycle and therefore the progression of cancerous cells. A study in cancer patients was conducted to compare the accuracy of screening with microRNAs to screening with LDCT. Observing microRNAs did not prove to be as accurate at identifying cancer as LDCT, but since using microRNAs is a less expensive process, it can identify patients that should undergo LCDT testing. Screening with microRNA testing initially would decrease the number of patients paying for LCDT testing. Another biomarker that can be observed in response to cancer is ct DNA. Ct DNA refers to fragments of DNA from tumors found circulating in the blood stream. A recent study indicated that observing ct DNA could have multiple useful applications for oncologists. Ct DNA analysis during treatment could serve as an indication of how tumors react to treatment methods and whether recurrence is likely. Detecting ct DNA in the bloodstream could even serve as an early sign of cancer, observable before imaging tests even show tumors.
