Andrew is to explore the feelings associated and distinguish between rational and irrational beliefs he
possesses regarding these two issues. Andrew is to verbalize the feelings and emotions he states have
had a negative effect in his life leading him to feel inadequate and turning to the use of mind altering
substances. Andrew has had a hard time accepting himself and interventions has been made to work
on attaining a positive self image and Andrew has been invited to use positive self affirmations. The
difficulties in addressing the two issues simultaneously has been for Andrew to be self accepting of his
coprophilia and to realize the process most likely will be slow. Andrew has agreed to maintain
abstinence from all mind altering substances.
2 Humanistic Approach
Andrew has expressed an interest in finding out the causes for the two problematic behaviors and has
showed a willingness to be an integral part of his treatment planning. Andrew has been asked to self
define abstinence for him in regards to coprophilia and to work on eradicating the behavior if he
deems it necessary and proper for him to do so.
III Interviews
During two months Andrew and I sat down and Andrew answered questions about his presenting
problems to form a time line, overview, and hypothesis.
What time do you remember first doing these behaviors?
I started the coprophilia when I was 12 and I used marijuana and alcohol that same summer

Stereotypes In Shrek
Based on the book Shrek, by William Steig, the animated movie Shrek, directed Andrew Adamson and
Vicky Jenson of DreamWorks (Katzenburg, J., Warner, A., Williams, J.H Adamson, A., Jenson, V.
2001), an ogre named Shrek who is given the title of an outcast by both humans and fairytale
creatures. Due to being an Ogre, Shrek has lived his life alone and isolated in house in a swamp until
various fairytale creatures invade his home. The fairytale creatures have moved themselves into Shrek
s swamp because of Lord Farquaad s law. In order to give Shrek and himself what he wants, Lord
Farquaad gives Shrek a deal to get Princess Fiona for him in exchange for the fairytale to leave. Along
with a companion named Donkey, he travels across the land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

His social disinterest was influenced by various negative confrontations and rumors from others. An
example would be when Shrek barged into the church during Lord Farquaad and Fiona s wedding
ceremony which then led to Lord Farquaad saying, it s rude enough being alive when no one wants
you...(Katzenburg, J., Warner, A., Williams, J.H Adamson, A., Jenson, V. Directors, 2001, scene 17).
Multiple negative confrontations can also influence Shrek s low self esteem. As quoted before where
Shrek reenacts what he hears other people say to him once they see him, which shows how he
currently sees himself based on what he hears other say. Low self esteem is associated with self doubt
and social isolation both in which Shrek expresses (MacCutcheon, M., Gilbertson, T., Houdek, N. W.
2007). The self doubt part is expressed when Shrek believes that no one could ever understand or give
him affection. Shrek s fears of abandonment could have developed during childhood and increased as
he went into adulthood (Abandonment. n.d.). With others fearing and putting bounties on Shrek, he
may have experienced a traumatic event, such as losing a parent, during his childhood because of
being an ogre. Putting together that others are afraid of Shrek and may want to hurt him, one could tell
that Shrek had these negative thoughts and encounters for many years. There are a couple

How Does Priestley Present The Inspector In An Inspector...
JB Priestly (1894 1984) wrote An Inspector Calls after the First World War (it was first performed in
1945); like much of his work, the play contains controversial, politically charged messages. Priestly
was a resolute socialist and had very socialist views. This essay will explore some of the techniques
Priestly uses to present the Inspector.
The Inspector as soon as he is introduced has authority and is commanding of the situation. You can
see this from the following quote, at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness .
The quote shows that, the Inspector is probably confident and will be motivated to do the tasks set for
him/the tasks he has set for himself. Not only the family has an impression on the Inspector ... Show

Priestly presents the Inspector as a strong believer in socialism, meaning that he greatly cares for his
fellow citizens and believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. You can see this
towards the end of the play when the Inspector makes a speech, which outlines his political views. He
says that we should look after each other and stop thinking about ourselves so much, We don t live
alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other. This just shows how extreme
his belief in socialism is and how he thinks people should live. We know that, Priestly also had
socialist opinions, very similar to those of the Inspector. So you may say that, Priestly used the
inspector as a mouthpiece to deliver his left wing views and his ideas on society at that time. However,
you could think that the Inspector wasn t strictly socialist; he just thinks that people no matter what
their social class should be treated fairly ( I don t think this). In my opinion, most of the audience
would think of the Inspector as a socialist due to his obvious beliefs and speech at the end of the play.
They d probably agree with what he says and also think that the Birling family was wrong to do and
think the way they did. This would result in them possibly thinking that capitalism is wrong. The
audience might develop socialist views as a result of agreeing with the Inspector; the 1945 viewers
may realise that the rigid

Example Of Existentialism
Existentialism is a movement in philosophy and literature that began in the mid to late 19th and reach
its peak in mid 20th century, and was largely spread through the works of French existentialist like
Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir (Mastin L, 2008). There is no agreed
definition of existentialism, as those who are considered as existentialist do not share the same exact
thought on the subject though the starting point may be fairly linked. Jean Paul Sartre, defines
existentialism as a school of thought where one s existence comes before his essence. Being an atheist
existentialist, he argues that there is no God and that man existed first and defines himself afterwards.
Thus there is no human nature, because there is no God to have a conception of it. Man simply is

Eliza Binte Elahi (2014), explains that metaphysics deals with questions that can t be answered by
Science, like the existence of God or the difference between reality and perception thus questioning
the pure existence of human beings on earth. TS Eliot is considered to be a fine example of a
metaphysical poet as he wrestles with noumenal experiences using extended metaphor, as the Things
of God s cannot be known in any other way (Dr Niamh C, 2012). According to his biography, one of
his famous poem The Waste Land , was written when he was facing some hardships in his life; his
marriage was falling and he was suffering of nervous disorder. The physical and mental distress of the
poet may provide an indication about the state of mind in which The Waste Land was written, which
seems to have greatly influenced the choice of the title of the poem itself. The sub title The Burial of
the Dead is equally troubling providing an obscure and dark atmosphere about the poem. It seems like
the titles chosen act as a foretaste of what is to come

Different Cell Types Of The Stomach Essay
The stomach is an organ that is part of the digestive system. The stomach is located in the upper left
part of the abdominal cavity, below the diaphragm and next to the liver (Stomach, 2013). The inner
walls of the stomach contain small pores called gastric pits. The gastric pits contain cells that secrete
chemicals that aid in the digestion of food (Nguyen, 2015). In this essay, I will discuss the different
cell types of the stomach, how they work together to provide the overall function of the stomach, why
each organ requires different cell types, why the stomach can t be comprised of just one cell type, and
the advantage of having different types of cells.
The stomach is made up of multiple cells that all have a certain job. The cells that I will be discussing
are the Surface mucous cells, Mucous Neck cells, Parietal Cells, Chief cells, and the G cells.
Surface mucous cells
Surface mucous cells are the protective epithelial cells that line the surface of the stomach including
the gastric pits. The function of the surface mucous cells is to serve as a physical and chemical barrier.
The surface mucous cells secretes a bicarbonate rich mucus that forms a thick gel like coat that
adheres to the surface epithelium and protects the gastric tissue from abrasion and the acid content of
the stomach (The Stomach, n.d.).
Mucous Neck cell
The mucous neck cells are located in the neck section of the stomach often squeezed between two
parietal cells. The mucous neck cells job is to

Lynching In To Kill A Mockingbird
Lynching, is what the song called Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropol is about. Another meaning of the
song Strange Fruit is a haunting protest against the inhumanity of racism (Blair). Therefore, African
American bodies hanged from trees when they are sentenced to death by a jury in the 1930 s. Lastly,
many African American families suffered between the racism that the white people expressed when
they saw an African American. At last, the white people would accuse any african american they
wanted of something and that innocent person would be lynched in public. Lynching is to to put to
death, especially by hanging (Dictionary). The song Strange Fruit represents this because when an
African American was accused of something that wasn t true they would be lynched on a tree. For
example, If an African American would be accused of rape or insulting a white person, then the judge
would be on the white person s side and sentence them to death. Like for example, in the book To Kill
a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, an African American named Tom Robinson is accused of rapping a 19
year old named Mayella Ewell. Therefore, he was sent to jail instead of being lynched on a tree. The
articles that we have read over and the book are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the song Strange Fruit it represents a lot of racism. One example, of the song Strange Fruit is that
when an African American would be lynched all of the white people would smiling and be glad that
another african american was dead. Like for example, two african americans were arrested and
charged with the armed robbery and murder of a white factory worker, Claude Deeter, and the rape of
his companion, Mary Ball (Radio Diaries). The meaning of this quote, is that two african americans
were accused of something and lynched the next day just because of their race and skin color.
Therefore, every single white person in the town would go and watch the innocent african american

Hellenistic Miletus Research Paper
The Milesian system was structured originally on six tribes, but when they changed to a more
democratic system under Athenian influence they changed over to 12 tribes. It is highly probable that
they submitted their candidates for offices from these tribes. In order to become a citizen one had to be
enrolled in these tribes. Milesian territory was broken up into 5 or 7 demes or districts. The earliest
officials mentioned in decrees of Hellenistic Miletus are the synedroi, whose status is not clear. They
have been considered as either a standing committee of the city council or as an ad hoc commission
created to deal with specific problems. cg p. 67 They worked with other city officials and institutions
and were possibly responsible to the assembly. In the third century there were around 75 members,
which was reduced down to 10 in the late second century. However, it is hard to know how frequent
and the dates that the assembly met, but it is probable that the assembly met at least once a month. It is
also probable that they held special sessions that dealt with matters prescribed by the law along with
the other Greece cities. It was also likely that they held the most important ... Show more content on

Miletus started under the influence of Athens, but with time and the influence of Alcibiades and
Sparta, they promoted a revolt against Athens. Miletus came under the siege of Athens, but hid behind
their walls and over time Athens gave up. Sparta and Persia used Miletus as a base throughout the war.
However, there was some confusion of who was in control and attempts to throw out these powers
from Miletus. Sparta in 405 BC helped change Miletus back to an oligarchy, but they also had some
struggles. The Peace of Atalcidas in 386 BC ended the independence of Asia Minor, but they

The Yellow Wallpaper Essay
One additional reading of the color of the wallpaper is that it promotes a counter intuitive reading. The
color yellow is normally associated with happiness and light; in this case, it is linked to a malignant
source that drives the narrator insane. Because the reader expects the color yellow to be benevolent
and is disappointed, the reader is also forced to question everything else in the novel, especially those
things that seem to be obvious. The yellow wallpaper itself is presented as a symbol of creativity. With
its endless swirls and ornaments, the wallpaper does not follow any set pattern; in fact, it is this lack of
organization and structure that preoccupies the narrator to such an extent. In contrast to the unwieldy

Shitty First Drafts By Anne Lammott Analysis
Writing is something we have been used to since childhood. Beginning to write with just a few words
and activities to improve our pendmanship. From easy sentences we all gradually improve our writing,
as expected from higher levels of education. However, throughout all this time, many of us have been
writing blind. Only writing what is seen an necessary, oblivious to the true skill and precision it takes
to actually write quality work. Through the use of Anne Lammott s article Shitty First Drafts and
personal experiences, I will advice you, my fellow freshman, on certain a aspect of writing that you

work or even allow them to view it at all. I am quite a bit too shy for that. However, Lommet makes
some valid points. All throughout my life, I have gotten by on the basics of writing. I was unaware of
the amount of work that takes place in writing. Writing is much more than it seems to be. Simply
writing is not suffice in the understanding of the skillful process. I have come to realization that
writing is just as critical as assembling a car. In the same sense, building a car is about precision and
piecing many parts together for the overall outcome of a successful, running automobile. Even then,
there may be room for improvements down the line, but in the meantime it is good to produce the best
work possible. Writing can be just as critical because it involves a vast variety of things as well. There
is more to take into account than simply typing or jotting down words. Writing involves grammar,
spelling, punctuation, intended audience, etc... These things of which can become quite confusing,
attempting to make them all flow in a smooth,

The Value of Life Essay
Should people put the value of life into monetary value or should life be kept solely as an emotional
quantity? People and societies throughout the ages have been trying to answer the problem of putting
the value of life into terms of dollar bills. The ancient Egyptians buried their dead with all of their
worldly belongings. They believed a person s monetary worth on Earth was over, and they should take
all of that earthly worth with them to the afterlife. Modern day Americans are different from the
Egyptians. Today people believe that the families of the dead should be compensated for their loss.
It is true that life is a precious commodity much like a diamond. But unlike a diamond, life has no set

Is it more important in society to make babies than it is to just live your life? What about people who
haven t yet had a chance to start a family because their lives were cut so short? Now all that money
sounds like a blessing, doesn t it?
Well now that you have your foundation money, now you have to subtract the money you get from life
insurance, pension, Social Security death benefits, and worker s compensation. After these little
subtractions, you now have the total that you are going to receive from the government s fund. Now
you are going to be hit with new questions after all this, for example is a rich man with high life
insurance, high pension, and no children worth less than a poor man with no life insurance, no job,
and ten children (Ripley 13)? The answer to all these questions is no. The lives of all people should be
valued at the same price, if you are to set a price at all. A rich man should be the same as a poor man; a
woman with no children should have the same life value as a woman with seven kids. The point is that
if the government is going to put a monetary value of a human life, than it should be the same for
everyone. We hold these truths to self evidence: that all men are created equal (King Jr.).
There are many arguments against putting a money value on human life and two of the most
impressive come from Alephonsion Deng and Lance Armstrong. Alephonsion

making deals with corporations are far greater. Such as, A corporation paying for these costs can make

A Web Application System For Forensic Investigator Essay
According to parencite{lazzez2015forensics}, a web application system should be forensically
prepared by being capable of evidence collection and evidence protection. For evidence collection, the
logs should be enabled and configured properly on the servers. The evidence protection requires that
the integrity of these logs should be maintained by setting proper permissions on the log files and
keeping them out of reach of the perpetrators. A forensic investigator should also be well equipped in
terms of skills to carry out the investigation. The sufficient comprehension on the web application
architecture, program flow, functions, and the server components are also important for the forensic

Throughout time, many countries have needed to implement some sort of economic reform in order to
strengthen their economy so that they can be more of a power on the world stage and to stabilize their

the 20th century and, unlike other countries such as Russia who were trying to do the same thing but

the urban industry to increase the waning productivity. A dual price system was also introduced,
wherein state owned industries were allowed to sell any production above the plan quota, and
commodities were sold at both plan and market prices, which then allowed citizens to avoid the

Times Square 1945 Analysis
Times Square, 1945, the end of the Second World War. A beautiful nurse and a handsome sailor
embrace in celebration that war has come to an end. Maybe lovers, maybe complete strangers, but still
in love with the idea of freedom and safety. Old black and white photos bring a kind uniqueness of
perspective. Instead of seeing colors, you have to see and feel what the photographer sees and feels

Socialization Of Mass Media
The mass media participates in this hegemonic process in the way it reveals the social status and
economic class. The mainstream news media often commends the prosperity and values of the
dominant class and weakens the dignity of the working people. This happens largely through the
corporate monopolization and can be seen through analyzing the dominant ideologies of consumerism,
competition and democracy within modern society. Preserving control over people s minds is a
fundamental element of the political power required to maintain the capitalist economic system.
Herman and Chomsky provide a propaganda model that can be used as an agenda to further examine
how the media serves the ends of a dominant elite. The consumer culture is one of the primary forms
of domination and can often interfere with our identities in destructive ways. Companies use the
media as a system of communication to increase commodity consumption in order to generate profit
for capitalists. Mainstream news media are profit driven businesses owned by corporations and are
largely funded by advertisers. Advertising was a significant innovative expansion that influenced the
formation of the consumer. The goal of advertisers was to aggressively shape consumer desires and
create value in commodities by imbuing them with the power to transform the consumer into a more
desirable person (C. Colaguori, 2013, p.173). When linking values to commodities, advertisers are
implanting insecurities and fears

Epic Poetry and Beowulf Pg
Epic poems have a unique set of characteristics that distinguish them from just an ordinary poem. An
epic poem must contain a hero that is male, noble, and of importance to society who gives long formal
speeches and travels over a vast setting. In the epic poem, Beowulf, the reader can see distinct Anglo
Saxon political, economic, and religious values in the actions of the characters and the things
happening around them. Wealth in the Anglo Saxon society, as seen in Beowulf, was used as a means
of reparations, rewards, and political standings. One can also tell that the Anglo Saxons where in a
state of limbo between Christian and Pagan beliefs because of the ideas expressed by the hero and his
colleagues in Beowulf. The political standings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paganism can also be found during the poem when the narrator discusses fate, the nonexistence of an
afterlife, and the concept of fate. Before entering the dragons tower Beowulf tells his followers that he
will fight until fate decides which of us [he or the dragon] wins (Beowulf pg. 53). Fate is only a belief
in Pagan religion; Christians don t believe in a predetermined destiny. When Beowulf is fighting the
dragon and he begins to sense defeat he reflects on a journey into darkness that all men must make, as
death ends their few brief hours on earth. (Beowulf pg.54). This journey into darkness alerts the reader
that Beowulf believes that his only life is here on earth and will venture on to darkness with no
afterlife. Christians believe that there is a life after death in heaven as opposed to Pagans who believe
in death as an end of existence.
Scattered in the poem the reader can find literary devices including stock epithets, kennings,
alliteration, allusions, hyperbole, and imagery. Stock epithets are adjectives that point out a special
trait of a character. One example of a stock epithet can be found in line 324 of Beowulf when Grendel
is described as being a sin stained demon (Beowulf pg. 42). A kenning is a poetic synonym found in
Germanic poems as seen when Beowulf is called the noble protector of all seamen (Beowulf pg.50).
Alliteration is the repetition of

Breughel s Icarus By Michael Hamburger
Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on
Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting should be analyzed and
the myth of Icarus should be known. Hamburger uses specific diction and attitude for purpose, and the
shift between the first and second stanza is noticeable.
In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who would be close to the fallen Icarus: the
ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeed in recognizing the rise and fall of Icarus
as they we absorbed in their own task, immersed in thought. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman

From labeling the observations of the characters, the second stanza mentions the actual events that
happed with a bitterness. Too late is the first sentence of the stanza, and gives off the vibe that no
longer there is a chance for redemption, and only ultimate doom is guaranteed. The short intonations
add to the effect, making it concrete fact in the readers mind. But what is too late? The shepherd s
observation or the option Icarus chose? Perhaps it was the shepherd s fault or the other characters fault
for failing to make the observations to save the angel, Icarus . Nevertheless, Icarus made his choice for
ever failed , Fallen with melted wings when, near the sun/ He scorned the ordering planet, which
prevailed to challenge superior forces, the sun and heat. Icarus was so captivated by flight that his
passion became his doom. Hamburger approaches this angle but as he uses the word scorn , it s as if
Icarus did it to spite the gods and his father with his magnificence. In the end, the planet won, jeering,
now slinks off, to rise once more . This phrase personifies the sun, giving an attitude of sweet victory
over the ignorant challenger at the end of the day. In the painting, the sun, itself, is setting, only to rise

In Alice Walker s Everyday Use the reader is introduced to three main characters, a mother and her

Dee, however, moves on with life and goes out to make something of herself in the world. The story is
an account of one of Dee s visits, but the narrator, the mother, makes a very obvious comparison
between Dee and Maggie s looks, intelligence, behaviorism, and values. The reader has a lesson to

Although she is jealous of her sister, Maggie more admires her than anything. It is, however, upsetting
that the narrator never suggests Dee has any admiration or respect for Maggie or herself, for that
matter. The story never even suggests that Dee feels sorry for Maggie, instead it can be interpreted that
Dee just looks down on her sister, as she does the rest of her family.
The reader can also learn about the girls from how they treat others. Just like everything else, they are
opposites. Dee would always look anyone in the eye. Hesitation was no part of her nature (92) while
Maggie walks chin on chest, eyes on ground, feet in shuffle (94). Mama also knows that while her
sister is there Maggie will be nervous and stand hopelessly in corners, homely and ashamed of the
burns scars down her arms and legs (92). While Maggie has always felt inferior, Dee seems haughty
and kind of has a superiority complex. Dee is also implied to be manipulative. Dee would read to her
mother and Maggie knowing it was literature beyond their comprehension just so she could show off.
She used to read to us without pit; forcing words, lies, other folks habits, whole lives upon us two. She
washed us in a river of make believe, burned us with a lot of knowledge we didn t necessarily need to
know (94). The phrase She read to them is repeated when talking about Dee around her friends and
boys that wanted to date her (95). However, in this context, it is hardly

I feel that Auden tells the story of Miss Edith Gee extremely well, using a wide variety of literary
techniques to make it an interesting but disturbingly thought provoking read. The story shows how our

alone she wonders if anyone does care about her.
The initial exposition is extremely sympathetic towards Miss Gee. Now let me tell you a little story

This make me, as a reader feel that she is pessimistic and doesn t really stop thinking and relax for just
a moment. In this same stanza, at line 15, the back pedal brake is described as harsh . This is effective
imagery as it has two different connotations. There could be the fact that it is a hard and rusty back
pedal brake, but there is also the metaphor that she is on a bike ride, a symbol for her monotonous life,
and she is constantly held back by this brake that is stiff and harsh when triggered, possibly meaning
that she is held back in life by the way she lives her life and how dull it is.
The way in which irony is introduced in stanza 5, where Auden says that Miss Edith Gee attends St.
Aloysius church, is clever because St Aloysius overcame his disease of the plague, whereas Miss Gee
has a substantially different fate. This again, may be seen by some to be Auden mocking Edith Gee
and her insignificant life.
Miss Gee looks for guidance as she gazes up to the stars and dialogue is introduced with Does anyone

Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis Essay
Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis
In the year 1625, Francis Bacon, a famous essayist and poet wrote about the influences of fear on
everyday life. He stated, Men fear death as children fear to go in the dark; and as that natural fear in
children is increased with tales, so is the other (Essays Dedication of Death). Clearly, external
surroundings affect perceptions of fear as well as human nature in general. Although C.S. Lewis
published the novel, Out of the Silent Planet, over three centuries after Bacon wrote his theory on fear,
Lewis similarly portrayed external surrounding to manipulate perceptions of fear. From the first
chapter of the novel, Lewis revealed fear to be a weakness that leads to ignorance. It was this ... Show

Analyzing O Flaherty s Short Story The Sniper
Inside a Sniper s mind
Most people agree that a soldier is still a human when at war. O Flaherty, however, may say that war
turns humans into soldiers that kill without remorse until they have realized they just took human
lives. Furthermore, O Flaherty depicts said soldiers as having little regard for human beings. Using
irony and foreshadowing in his short story The Sniper O Flaherty shows that war turns a person into
an unpredictable soldier that views people as objects.
O Flaherty uses dramatic irony of a sniper unknowingly killing his brother to show that war makes
one a heartless killer, which emphasizes the effect that war can have on a person. After an intense
sniper duel, the sniper sprinted with adrenaline flowing through his veins, right before checking the
body: wondered did he know him and Perhaps he had been in his own company before the split in the

Reseach on the Impact of Religion Bias on Performance...
1. Introduction One of the fundamental purposes of management accounting and control research is to
motivate employees to operate for the firm s interest. It is clear that incentives affect overall
performance, and thus, managers and accountants by providing monetary incentives and compensation
systems aim to improve their employees performance. However, the inequity is produced by the
design of compensation contracts and by managers performance evaluation biases, is perceived to be
one of the main problems of firm s prosperity. A large theoretical literature, based on agency theory,
has emphasized how firms design compensation contracts make employees to do their best for the
firm. Therefore, firms include many different mechanisms (i.e. piece rates, options, bonuses and
stocks, budget targets) in their compensation contracts to align interests between the employees and
their managers. However, objective measures are not perfect and using only these is unlikely to be the
most effective way to motivate employees (Feltham Xie 1994; Hemmer 1996). Financial measures
provoke a reallocation of activities toward those that are directly compensated and away from the
uncompensated activities, known as multitasking problem (Holmstrom Milgrom, 1990, Baker 1992).
They have been criticized for promoting over emphasis on short turn financial results, and thus, they
sacrifice long turn (Ittner et al., 1997, 2003). Moreover, financial measures of performance tend to be

The Theory Of Public Health
Introduction
Medical system in the world have defined Health in their own ways since time immemorial. Winslow
(1920) defines public health as The science and art of preventing disease , prolonging life and
promoting physical and mental efficiency through organised community effort for the sanitation of the
environment , the control of communicable infections , the education of the individual in personal
hygiene , the organisation medical and nursing services for the early diagnosis and preventive
treatment of disease .
Risk groups are those who are exposed to risk factors. The term risk factor means an attribute or
exposure that is significantly associated with the development of the disease or a determinant that can
be modified by intervention , thereby reducing the possibility of occurrence of disease or other
specified outcomes . ( Soben Peter , 2009 ).
According to Geoffrey Rose the two approaches of aetiology the individual and the population
approach have their respective roles in prevention. In the first , the individuals who are at high risk are
first identified and then provided them with protection. In contrast , the population strategy focuses on
the determinants of the incidence in the population as a whole. (Rose , 1985)

Check referencing and put scientific names of table in annex 1 into italics Chapter 5
The availability, accessibility, utilization and stability factors affecting the intake of fruits from trees in
forest areas in Cameroon
Introduction and problem
In sub Saharan Africa, just under one in every four people, or 23.2 percent of the population, is
estimated to be undernourished in 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). This is the highest prevalence of
undernourishment for any region in the World and, with about 220 million hungry people in 2014 16,
the second highest burden in absolute terms. The number of undernourished people increased by 44
million between 1990 to 92 and 2014 to16. In the Central African sub region, the number of
undernourished people more than doubled between 1990 92 and 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). The lack
of progress in the rate of undernourishment in absolute terms reflects prevailing problems in the sub
region, notably poor food consumption patterns caused amongst others by limited understanding on
the dimensions of food security, political instability and forest degradation. It is therefore absolute to
carry out investigations to properly understand the dimensions of food security especially with
changing environmental conditions. Promoting the consumption of fruits in poor communities and
amongst vulnerable groups could help in addressing problems of nutrient deficiency and malnutrition
(Kehlenbeck et al., 2013; Place et al., 2013; Tchoundjeu et al., 2012).

Patellar Calcar
Patellar calcar is a curvilinear condensation of bone trabeculae under the lateral patellar facet. It helps
the stress distribution of patellofemoral joint, and regarded as part of the compressive trabecular
system which is similar to the function of femoral calcar(Collins et al., 2014), the prevalence of
patellar calcar is 81%(Collins et al., 2014). Patellar calcar appears as a sclerotic line on CT and
hypointense band on all sequences on MRI. It is best visualized on non fat suppressed proton density
and T1 weighted images on axial and sagittal images(Collins et al., 2014). Awareness of the existence
and MRI appearance of patellar calcar is essential to avoid misdiagnosis with osteochondritis
dissecans, subchondral fracture and unnecessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It includes three main figurations: superolateral fragment(75%), along with the lateral margin
(20%), and the inferior pole (5%)(Saupe, 1943). The first and third situation is related to the
insertion of vastus lateralis and patella tendon respectively(Dwek Chung, 2008), in addition to the
male predominance of this condition, make chronic traction a widely accepted hypothesis of its
etiology (Ogata, 1994; Ogden, 1984; Ogden, McCarthy, Jokl, 1982)(Kavanagh et al., 2007)(Dwek
Chung, 2008). Bipartite patella may be bilateral or unilateral. The patellar fragment is separated from
the main body by a fibrocartilaginous tissue, which demonstrated as high or low T2 signal on MRI
according to the amount of fibrous and cartilaginous tissue. Pseudarthrosis of the two moieties typical
represent as fluid signal across the segmentation(Kavanagh et al., 2007). Bone marrow edema at either
side of the opposed bony surfaces indicating abnormal/dysfunctional motion between the two
fragment, usually accompanying with anterior knee pain/tenderness clinically (Dwek Chung, 2008;
Kavanagh et al., 2007). Treatment of painful bipartite patella is mainly conservative management,
including rest, reduction, anti inflammatory drugs, stretching exercises of the quadriceps(Gaheer,

AMENDMENTS IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE amp; WELFARE ACT OF 2006 (AFFIRMATIVE
SIDE/ PRO FOR DEBATE) Few days ago, the Senate approved on final reading a bill amending
Republic Act No. 9344, otherwise known as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, in order to
improve its implementation. I AM IN FAVOR OF THIS GREAT ACT BY OUR LAWMAKERS. We
all know that Republic Act No. 9344 has been intended to protect the welfare of children in conflict
with the law, majority of who are guilty of petty crimes such as petty theft, vagrancy and sniffing glue.
Prior to the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, children in conflict with the law were thrown
into the same prison cells as hardened criminals. Studies show that most of them were ... Show more

The bill aims to amend Republic Act 9344, the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, passed six years ago.
I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF SUCH MOVE BY OUR LAWMAKERS. My stand is not to amend the
Juvenile Justice Law but call for its effective implementation instead. Lowering the age of criminal
responsibility constitutes a grave breach on the convention on the rights of the child to which the
Philippines has ratified and acceded. Our country must always be guided by the United Nations
Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice, more commonly known as the
Beijing Rules , which is a framework to consider in determining the age of criminal responsibility. The
Beijing Rules recommends that the minimum age of criminal responsibility shall not be fixed at too
low an age level, bearing in mind the facts of emotional, mental and intellectual maturity. Our
opponents contend that the increasing number of children involved in heinous crimes as the primary
reason for amending the law. But the results of an online poll on the House of Representatives website
show that public opinion is on civil society s side, with the majority not in favor of the amendment.
Online House poll shows majority disagree with lowering the age of criminal liability. Asked if
lowering the age of criminal responsibility is a justifiable policy, 75 percent

The Most Mind Blowing Movie Of Outer Space
Interstellar: The Most Mind Blowing Movie of Outer Space Seven billion humans are on earth, and
the planet has a life expectancy of two years left before it ultimately destroys itself. Discovering a new
planet is necessary to keep the human race from becoming extinct. The movie Interstellar shows what
actions need to take place when the entire race of humanity is at stake. As someone who is curious
about the possibilities out there. About what we don t yet know about this world we live in and what
lies beyond as I look up into the star filled night sky. About God or a higher being, About science,
About how the two may or may not be related, About dimensions, About consciousness, About the
unseen and untold. This film moved me in all of those respects and more
(Huffington Post). This film lures viewers in as it raises curiosity of space and possible life on other
planets, as well as anticipating the final days of earth. Director Christopher Nolan is known for
making great movies that sell out box offices around the country. He is responsible for movies such
The Dark Knight Rises , Man of Steel , Inception and many more other household names. The fact
that his last four movies in the past five years have each won Movie of The Year should be one of
many reasons on why this film needs to be watched (IMDb).
Moving along the animation of the film is done very well, which makes it hard to look away and miss

Media Censorship around the World
Media censorship is not an unusual phenomenon around the world, as it has been disapproved by right
groups since ancient times. It had originated in ancient times when rulers and religious leaders
imposed limitation on the press, with an aim to stop them from spreading information which might
turn against them, and the activities conducted by them. Regardless of the differences in geographical
location, religion, culture and the tradition, the motive for censorship has remained the same. The
most widely used methods to control media are licensing and enacting laws which effectively restrict
the freedom of press. Countries like Syria, Zimbabwe and Vietnam have laws and regulations that
effectively limit the freedom of press and impose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(6) Once he has decided to cease a printing or publishing licence due to his subjective view, it is
deemed to be unquestionable and completely free from any action of the court. (7) For example, in
Persatuan Aliran Kesedaran Negara v. Minister of Home Affairs (8), Aliran sued the Minister for
refusing to give permission to produce its own Malay version publication. Ajaib Singh SCJ indicated
that the power of minister under s. 12(2) of the PPPA could not be challenged by the courts. Another
example is the case of Liew Ah Kim v. Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri(9). Rocket, which is the
Democratic Action Party s newspaper, is given annual licence with a condition that the newspaper can
only be viewed by insiders and not for the public. The minister was criticized on imposing such
condition, but the court held that the minister s decision to impose such condition based on his
subjective consideration was ultimate and conclusive, therefore, the court could not interfere into the
subject matter. However, the absolute power of the minister to reject on giving licence is being
provoked in the case between Home Affairs Ministry and Malaysiakini. While the Ministry refused to
issue licence to Malaysiakini, the High Court held that the Ministry has made inappropriate and
unreasonable decision, and the right to get a permit is a fundamental liberty . As a result, Malaysiakini
is allowed to produce daily press.(10). It

Fashion Industry on Women´s Body Image
The fashion industry plays a huge role in portraying bad images of ideal beauty, which in turn affects
today s society perception of their own body image. Not only are women affected by what is seen and
heard about how the perfect body should appear, children of young ages are now feeling insecure and
obsessed with their bodies before they reach teenage years. This ideal image the fashion industry
continues to enforce only focuses on very thin models who seem to be in shape and are very healthy.
Furthermore, many people think of the influence from the fashion industry as being human
representations (models). Because of the rising problem with the image of beauty within the fashion
industry, it is shown that even mannequins and non human representations (mannequins, dolls,
photoshopping) of bodies play a significant role in women s body image; which causes problems to
the individual. (Anshutz Engels, 2010). Body image and self satisfaction, eating disorders and non
human representations all can cause harm to the individual, if prolonged. Women and girls on average
struggle with their self esteem and their overall body image throughout their lives. It especially comes
into effect with the constant portrayal of overly skinny mannequins or non human representations in
popular, stores, on the web, and on television (Clifford, 2011). In today s society the average woman is
bigger and mannequins are becoming smaller. It is difficult for the average woman to match their ideal

Frank Mccourt s Essay Home For The Heart
Social justice and equity are both common ideals to achieve in society. However, social injustice has
been more frequently shown throughout history. The poem, No Irish Need Apply, the exhibit Home
for the Heart, and the magazine article The Education of Frank McCourt are all pieces of literature that
shows the hardships that individuals have to face when searching for social justice and equity. As life
progresses, the need to achieve social justice becomes more desirable. Social justice and equity tends
to affect all people of all age and race.
Due to the harsh conditions in Ireland, several families decided to immigrate to Eastern Canada and
the United States in search for equity and social justice. In the exhibit Home for the Heart ... Show

Barbara Sande Dimmitt, author of The Education of Frank McCourt writes, [h]ungry was ever present
for Frank, who one day felt so starved that he licked grease from a piece of newspaper someone had
used to wrap fish and chips. Ever since his family moved back to Ireland in search for a better life,
they have not been treated like human beings. Although everyone is said to be treated equal, Frank
McCourt and his family did not have the same experiences as people of higher standings. One day in
school a teacher told McCourt that he can do better in his life and so he did, Five years later, in 1949,
he scraped together enough money to buy passage back to America (The Education of Frank
McCourt) in search for the American Dream. Once he arrived in America, he decided to change his
life for the better and he wanted to achieve social justice. Dimmitt then states [i]t was the fall of 1970
and his first week of teaching at Seward Park High School McCourt found social justice and equity
twenty years after he immigrated to America. He managed to achieve the American Dream and
showed that social justice and equity are

Stereotypes In Shrek Based on the book Shrek, by William Steig, the animated movie Shrek, directed Andrew Adamson and Vicky Jenson of DreamWorks (Katzenburg, J., Warner, A., Williams, J.H Adamson, A., Jenson, V. 2001), an ogre named Shrek who is given the title of an outcast by both humans and fairytale creatures. Due to being an Ogre, Shrek has lived his life alone and isolated in house in a swamp until various fairytale creatures invade his home. The fairytale creatures have moved themselves into Shrek s swamp because of Lord Farquaad s law. In order to give Shrek and himself what he wants, Lord Farquaad gives Shrek a deal to get Princess Fiona for him in exchange for the fairytale to leave. His social disinterest was influenced by various negative confrontations and rumors from others. An example would be when Shrek barged into the church during Lord Farquaad and Fiona s wedding ceremony which then led to Lord Farquaad saying, it s rude enough being alive when no one wants you...(Katzenburg, J., Warner, A., Williams, J.H Adamson, A., Jenson, V. Directors, 2001, scene 17). Multiple negative confrontations can also influence Shrek s low self esteem. As quoted before where Shrek reenacts what he hears other people say to him once they see him, which shows how he currently sees himself based on what he hears other say. Low self esteem is associated with self doubt and social isolation both in which Shrek expresses (MacCutcheon, M., Gilbertson, T., Houdek, N. W. 2007). The self doubt part is expressed when Shrek believes that no one could ever understand or give him affection. Shrek s fears of abandonment could have developed during childhood and increased as he went into adulthood (Abandonment. n.d.). With others fearing and putting bounties on Shrek, he may have experienced a traumatic event, such as losing a parent, during his childhood because of being an ogre. Putting together that others are afraid of Shrek and may want to hurt him, one could tell that Shrek had these negative thoughts and encounters for many years. There are a couple ... • 4. How Does Priestley Present The Inspector In An Inspector... JB Priestly (1894 1984) wrote An Inspector Calls after the First World War (it was first performed in 1945); like much of his work, the play contains controversial, politically charged messages. Priestly was a resolute socialist and had very socialist views. This essay will explore some of the techniques Priestly uses to present the Inspector. The Inspector as soon as he is introduced has authority and is commanding of the situation. You can see this from the following quote, at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness . The quote shows that, the Inspector is probably confident and will be motivated to do the tasks set for him/the tasks he has set for himself. Not only the family has an impression on the Inspector ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Priestly presents the Inspector as a strong believer in socialism, meaning that he greatly cares for his fellow citizens and believes that everyone should be treated equally and fairly. You can see this towards the end of the play when the Inspector makes a speech, which outlines his political views. He says that we should look after each other and stop thinking about ourselves so much, We don t live alone. We are members of one body. We are responsible for each other. This just shows how extreme his belief in socialism is and how he thinks people should live. We know that, Priestly also had socialist opinions, very similar to those of the Inspector. So you may say that, Priestly used the inspector as a mouthpiece to deliver his left wing views and his ideas on society at that time. However, you could think that the Inspector wasn t strictly socialist; he just thinks that people no matter what their social class should be treated fairly ( I don t think this). In my opinion, most of the audience would think of the Inspector as a socialist due to his obvious beliefs and speech at the end of the play. They d probably agree with what he says and also think that the Birling family was wrong to do and think the way they did. This would result in them possibly thinking that capitalism is wrong. The audience might develop socialist views as a result of agreeing with the Inspector; the 1945 viewers may realise that the rigid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Example Of Existentialism Existentialism is a movement in philosophy and literature that began in the mid to late 19th and reach its peak in mid 20th century, and was largely spread through the works of French existentialist like Jean Paul Sartre, Albert Camus and Simone de Beauvoir (Mastin L, 2008). There is no agreed definition of existentialism, as those who are considered as existentialist do not share the same exact thought on the subject though the starting point may be fairly linked. Jean Paul Sartre, defines existentialism as a school of thought where one s existence comes before his essence. Being an atheist existentialist, he argues that there is no God and that man existed first and defines himself afterwards. According to his biography, one of his famous poem The Waste Land , was written when he was facing some hardships in his life; his marriage was falling and he was suffering of nervous disorder. The physical and mental distress of the poet may provide an indication about the state of mind in which The Waste Land was written, which seems to have greatly influenced the choice of the title of the poem itself. The sub title The Burial of the Dead is equally troubling providing an obscure and dark atmosphere about the poem. It seems like the titles chosen act as a foretaste of what is to come ... • 6. Different Cell Types Of The Stomach Essay The stomach is an organ that is part of the digestive system. The stomach is located in the upper left part of the abdominal cavity, below the diaphragm and next to the liver (Stomach, 2013). The inner walls of the stomach contain small pores called gastric pits. The gastric pits contain cells that secrete chemicals that aid in the digestion of food (Nguyen, 2015). In this essay, I will discuss the different cell types of the stomach, how they work together to provide the overall function of the stomach, why each organ requires different cell types, why the stomach can t be comprised of just one cell type, and the advantage of having different types of cells. The stomach is made up of multiple cells that all have a certain job. The cells that I will be discussing are the Surface mucous cells, Mucous Neck cells, Parietal Cells, Chief cells, and the G cells. Surface mucous cells Surface mucous cells are the protective epithelial cells that line the surface of the stomach including the gastric pits. The function of the surface mucous cells is to serve as a physical and chemical barrier. The surface mucous cells secretes a bicarbonate rich mucus that forms a thick gel like coat that adheres to the surface epithelium and protects the gastric tissue from abrasion and the acid content of the stomach (The Stomach, n.d.). After these little subtractions, you now have the total that you are going to receive from the government s fund. A dual price system was also introduced, wherein state owned industries were allowed to sell any production above the plan quota, and commodities were sold at both plan and market prices, which then allowed citizens to avoid the shortages of the Maoist era. Private businesses were also allowed to operate for the first time since the Communist takeover, and they gradually began to make up a greater percentage of industrial output (Brandt, 2008). Price flexibility was also increased, in turn, expanding the service sector (Brandt, 2008). During this time period, China was also opened to foreign investment for the first time since the Kuomintang era. It was during this time that Deng created a series of special economic zones for foreign investment that were relatively free of the bureaucratic regulations and interventions that had hampered economic growth for so long until this time. The mainstream news media often commends the prosperity and values of the dominant class and weakens the dignity of the working people. This happens largely through the corporate monopolization and can be seen through analyzing the dominant ideologies of consumerism, competition and democracy within modern society. Preserving control over people s minds is a fundamental element of the political power required to maintain the capitalist economic system. Herman and Chomsky provide a propaganda model that can be used as an agenda to further examine how the media serves the ends of a dominant elite. The consumer culture is one of the primary forms of domination and can often interfere with our identities in destructive ways. Companies use the media as a system of communication to increase commodity consumption in order to generate profit for capitalists. Mainstream news media are profit driven businesses owned by corporations and are largely funded by advertisers. Advertising was a significant innovative expansion that influenced the formation of the consumer. The goal of advertisers was to aggressively shape consumer desires and create value in commodities by imbuing them with the power to transform the consumer into a more desirable person (C. • 27. Epic Poetry and Beowulf Pg Epic poems have a unique set of characteristics that distinguish them from just an ordinary poem. An epic poem must contain a hero that is male, noble, and of importance to society who gives long formal speeches and travels over a vast setting. In the epic poem, Beowulf, the reader can see distinct Anglo Saxon political, economic, and religious values in the actions of the characters and the things happening around them. Wealth in the Anglo Saxon society, as seen in Beowulf, was used as a means of reparations, rewards, and political standings. One can also tell that the Anglo Saxons where in a state of limbo between Christian and Pagan beliefs because of the ideas expressed by the hero and his colleagues in Beowulf. The political standings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Paganism can also be found during the poem when the narrator discusses fate, the nonexistence of an afterlife, and the concept of fate. Before entering the dragons tower Beowulf tells his followers that he will fight until fate decides which of us [he or the dragon] wins (Beowulf pg. 53). Fate is only a belief in Pagan religion; Christians don t believe in a predetermined destiny. When Beowulf is fighting the dragon and he begins to sense defeat he reflects on a journey into darkness that all men must make, as death ends their few brief hours on earth. (Beowulf pg.54). This journey into darkness alerts the reader that Beowulf believes that his only life is here on earth and will venture on to darkness with no afterlife. Christians believe that there is a life after death in heaven as opposed to Pagans who believe in death as an end of existence. Scattered in the poem the reader can find literary devices including stock epithets, kennings, alliteration, allusions, hyperbole, and imagery. Stock epithets are adjectives that point out a special trait of a character. One example of a stock epithet can be found in line 324 of Beowulf when Grendel is described as being a sin stained demon (Beowulf pg. 42). A kenning is a poetic synonym found in Germanic poems as seen when Beowulf is called the noble protector of all seamen (Beowulf pg.50). Alliteration is the repetition of ... • 28. Breughel s Icarus By Michael Hamburger Michael Hamburger uses painting of Breughel s Icarus as a background for his poem, Lines on Brueghel s Icarus . To fully understand the purpose of this poem, the painting should be analyzed and the myth of Icarus should be known. Hamburger uses specific diction and attitude for purpose, and the shift between the first and second stanza is noticeable. In the first stanza, the stage is set with the types of people who would be close to the fallen Icarus: the ploughman, fisherman, and the sailor. However, none succeed in recognizing the rise and fall of Icarus as they we absorbed in their own task, immersed in thought. The ploughman ploughs, the fisherman dreams of fish;/ Aloft, the sailor . From labeling the observations of the characters, the second stanza mentions the actual events that happed with a bitterness. Too late is the first sentence of the stanza, and gives off the vibe that no longer there is a chance for redemption, and only ultimate doom is guaranteed. The short intonations add to the effect, making it concrete fact in the readers mind. But what is too late? The shepherd s observation or the option Icarus chose? Perhaps it was the shepherd s fault or the other characters fault for failing to make the observations to save the angel, Icarus . Nevertheless, Icarus made his choice for ever failed , Fallen with melted wings when, near the sun/ He scorned the ordering planet, which prevailed to challenge superior forces, the sun and heat. Icarus was so captivated by flight that his passion became his doom. Hamburger approaches this angle but as he uses the word scorn , it s as if Icarus did it to spite the gods and his father with his magnificence. In the end, the planet won, jeering, now slinks off, to rise once more . This phrase personifies the sun, giving an attitude of sweet victory over the ignorant challenger at the end of the day. There could be the fact that it is a hard and rusty back pedal brake, but there is also the metaphor that she is on a bike ride, a symbol for her monotonous life, and she is constantly held back by this brake that is stiff and harsh when triggered, possibly meaning that she is held back in life by the way she lives her life and how dull it is. The way in which irony is introduced in stanza 5, where Auden says that Miss Edith Gee attends St. Aloysius church, is clever because St Aloysius overcame his disease of the plague, whereas Miss Gee has a substantially different fate. Introduction One of the fundamental purposes of management accounting and control research is to motivate employees to operate for the firm s interest. It is clear that incentives affect overall performance, and thus, managers and accountants by providing monetary incentives and compensation systems aim to improve their employees performance. However, the inequity is produced by the design of compensation contracts and by managers performance evaluation biases, is perceived to be one of the main problems of firm s prosperity. A large theoretical literature, based on agency theory, has emphasized how firms design compensation contracts make employees to do their best for the firm. Therefore, firms include many different mechanisms (i.e. piece rates, options, bonuses and stocks, budget targets) in their compensation contracts to align interests between the employees and their managers. However, objective measures are not perfect and using only these is unlikely to be the most effective way to motivate employees (Feltham Xie 1994; Hemmer 1996). Financial measures provoke a reallocation of activities toward those that are directly compensated and away from the uncompensated activities, known as multitasking problem (Holmstrom Milgrom, 1990, Baker 1992). Factors Affecting The Intake Of Fruits From Trees Essay Check referencing and put scientific names of table in annex 1 into italics Chapter 5 The availability, accessibility, utilization and stability factors affecting the intake of fruits from trees in forest areas in Cameroon Introduction and problem In sub Saharan Africa, just under one in every four people, or 23.2 percent of the population, is estimated to be undernourished in 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). This is the highest prevalence of undernourishment for any region in the World and, with about 220 million hungry people in 2014 16, the second highest burden in absolute terms. The number of undernourished people increased by 44 million between 1990 to 92 and 2014 to16. In the Central African sub region, the number of undernourished people more than doubled between 1990 92 and 2014 16 (FAO et al., 2015). The lack of progress in the rate of undernourishment in absolute terms reflects prevailing problems in the sub region, notably poor food consumption patterns caused amongst others by limited understanding on the dimensions of food security, political instability and forest degradation. It is therefore absolute to carry out investigations to properly understand the dimensions of food security especially with changing environmental conditions. Promoting the consumption of fruits in poor communities and amongst vulnerable groups could help in addressing problems of nutrient deficiency and malnutrition (Kehlenbeck et al., 2013; Place et al., 2013; Tchoundjeu et al., 2012). ... • 41. Patellar Calcar Patellar calcar is a curvilinear condensation of bone trabeculae under the lateral patellar facet. It helps the stress distribution of patellofemoral joint, and regarded as part of the compressive trabecular system which is similar to the function of femoral calcar(Collins et al., 2014), the prevalence of patellar calcar is 81%(Collins et al., 2014). Crime and Youth Care Facility AMENDMENTS IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE amp; WELFARE ACT OF 2006 (AFFIRMATIVE SIDE/ PRO FOR DEBATE) Few days ago, the Senate approved on final reading a bill amending Republic Act No. 9344, otherwise known as the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, in order to improve its implementation. I AM IN FAVOR OF THIS GREAT ACT BY OUR LAWMAKERS. We all know that Republic Act No. 9344 has been intended to protect the welfare of children in conflict with the law, majority of who are guilty of petty crimes such as petty theft, vagrancy and sniffing glue. Prior to the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, children in conflict with the law were thrown into the same prison cells as hardened criminals. Studies show that most of them were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The bill aims to amend Republic Act 9344, the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, passed six years ago. I AM NOT IN FAVOR OF SUCH MOVE BY OUR LAWMAKERS. My stand is not to amend the Juvenile Justice Law but call for its effective implementation instead. Lowering the age of criminal responsibility constitutes a grave breach on the convention on the rights of the child to which the Philippines has ratified and acceded. Our country must always be guided by the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice, more commonly known as the Beijing Rules , which is a framework to consider in determining the age of criminal responsibility. The Beijing Rules recommends that the minimum age of criminal responsibility shall not be fixed at too low an age level, bearing in mind the facts of emotional, mental and intellectual maturity. Our opponents contend that the increasing number of children involved in heinous crimes as the primary reason for amending the law. But the results of an online poll on the House of Representatives website show that public opinion is on civil society s side, with the majority not in favor of the amendment. Online House poll shows majority disagree with lowering the age of criminal liability. Asked if lowering the age of criminal responsibility is a justifiable policy, 75 percent ... • 44. Media Censorship around the World Media censorship is not an unusual phenomenon around the world, as it has been disapproved by right groups since ancient times. It had originated in ancient times when rulers and religious leaders imposed limitation on the press, with an aim to stop them from spreading information which might turn against them, and the activities conducted by them. Regardless of the differences in geographical location, religion, culture and the tradition, the motive for censorship has remained the same. The most widely used methods to control media are licensing and enacting laws which effectively restrict the freedom of press. Ajaib Singh SCJ indicated that the power of minister under s. 12(2) of the PPPA could not be challenged by the courts. Another example is the case of Liew Ah Kim v. Menteri Hal Ehwal Dalam Negeri(9). Rocket, which is the Democratic Action Party s newspaper, is given annual licence with a condition that the newspaper can only be viewed by insiders and not for the public. The minister was criticized on imposing such condition, but the court held that the minister s decision to impose such condition based on his subjective consideration was ultimate and conclusive, therefore, the court could not interfere into the subject matter. However, the absolute power of the minister to reject on giving licence is being provoked in the case between Home Affairs Ministry and Malaysiakini. While the Ministry refused to issue licence to Malaysiakini, the High Court held that the Ministry has made inappropriate and unreasonable decision, and the right to get a permit is a fundamental liberty . As a result, Malaysiakini is allowed to produce daily press.(10). It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Fashion Industry on Women´s Body Image The fashion industry plays a huge role in portraying bad images of ideal beauty, which in turn affects today s society perception of their own body image. Not only are women affected by what is seen and heard about how the perfect body should appear, children of young ages are now feeling insecure and obsessed with their bodies before they reach teenage years. This ideal image the fashion industry continues to enforce only focuses on very thin models who seem to be in shape and are very healthy. Furthermore, many people think of the influence from the fashion industry as being human representations (models). Because of the rising problem with the image of beauty within the fashion industry, it is shown that even mannequins and non human representations (mannequins, dolls, photoshopping) of bodies play a significant role in women s body image; which causes problems to the individual. (Anshutz Engels, 2010). Body image and self satisfaction, eating disorders and non human representations all can cause harm to the individual, if prolonged. Women and girls on average struggle with their self esteem and their overall body image throughout their lives. It especially comes into effect with the constant portrayal of overly skinny mannequins or non human representations in popular, stores, on the web, and on television (Clifford, 2011). In today s society the average woman is bigger and mannequins are becoming smaller. It is difficult for the average woman to match their ideal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ever since his family moved back to Ireland in search for a better life, they have not been treated like human beings. Although everyone is said to be treated equal, Frank McCourt and his family did not have the same experiences as people of higher standings.
