Sikh Interview Research Paper
Interview
The interview was arranged the day we met at the temple. I noticed that there were to many Sikhs
around, so I decided to have the interview schedule to another day. Also, the day we were at the
temple, he encouraged us to eat lunch. And, to my surprised he then vanished. I never saw him again
that day. I didn t see him eating lunch with the other men. So, I supposed he left back to work. I
believe that he could have at least said something like you are more than welcome to stay and finish
eating lunch because I have to go back to work. Regardless, of what happen that day, I knew where to
find him to complete the interview, so I was not worried. However, I was more confused about how
little communication there is between guests and the Sikh believers.

According to a valuable Sikh quote, Man is born from a woman; within woman, man is conceived; to
a woman he is engaged and married. Man is friends with woman; through woman, the future
generations exist. When his woman passes away, he seeks another woman; to a woman a man is
bound. So why call her bad? From her, kings are born; From a woman, woman is born; without
woman there would be non one at all (Nesbitt, 2000). This quote is printed in every Guru temple. This
is message is a reminder to all Sikh religious men. Sikh men s identity should be defined by their
religion and not, but the Hindi culture. Obviously, the Hindi culture aspect of inequality between men
and women blocks the religious to gain a personal identity based on the Hindi

Similarities Between Mormonism And Rastafarians
Religion as a collective is constantly moving, changing, evolving. With the introduction of New
Religious Movements, pluralism, globalization and glocalization, interfaith initiatives it seems safe to
say that religion will forever remain fluid and changing, as faiths adapt to culture, society, and the
needs of their followers they will not die out. I believe that Mormonism and Rastafarians show this
with great abundance.
While both Rastafarians and Mormonism share a good amount of similar thoughts, they also cater to
very separate demographics. I realize in writing that statement how counterintuitive it sounds, thus,
first we will explore how Rastafi and Mormons are similar in their faiths.
Both the Mormon and Rastafarian movements cater to very specific demographics. Mormonism caters
to those who believe that the Christian Church lost it s way after the death of Christ, and restore what
the Mormons consider true Christianity, as opposed to apostasy (abandonment of principles) which
they feel characterizes the Christian churches. (1) While Rastafari caters to an ethnic group that has
experienced severe oppression at the hands of Babylon , they intend to revive the Way of the Ancients,
their concept of the lost civilization of precolonial Africa, and to free people of African extraction
from subservience. (2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Comparing Feminist Poetry by Plath and Sexton Essay
Comparing Feminist Poetry by Plath and Sexton
Poetry should be a shock to the senses. It should also hurt Anne Sexton believed (Baym 2703), and
evidence of this maxim s implications echoes loudly through the writing of Sexton as well as through
the work of her friend and contemporary Sylvia Plath.
Plath and Sexton s lifetimes spanned a period of remarkable change in the social role of women in
America, and both are obviously feminist poets caught somewhere between the submissive pasts of
their mothers and the liberated futures awaiting their daughters. With few established female poets to
emulate, Plath and Sexton broke new ground with their intensely personal, confessional poetry. Their
anger and frustration with female ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, Plath uses her father s German ancestry, as well as ideas about women s relationships with
their fathers and husbands, to broaden the poem s significance beyond the scope of her own
experience. Plath herself said that the poem related to the Electra complex, defined by The World
Book Medical Encyclopedia as a Freudian theory about a young girl s possessive but repressed love
for her father ( Electra Complex online).
The child narrating Daddy, in a youthful, Kipling like rhythm, is haunted by her father s monumental
presence in her world, calling him marble heavy, a bag full of God (Plath 2748). Both the poem s
childlike cadence and the innocent description of a father still the center of a young girl s universe
make it easy to re experience a youthful yearning for parental approval. When the father in the poem
dies, the young girl spends much of her life searching for a way to understand and get close to him
despite his absence. She inquires about the town where he grew up, but finds that [...] the name of the
town is common. / My Polack friend / Says there are a dozen or two. / So I never could tell where you
/ Put your foot, your root, / I never could talk to you (Plath 2748). Later, her search for her

The, The And, And Demand Side Theory And Neil Smith s...
This paper published by geographer Chris Hamnett traces the popularity of research into gentrification
and examines the competing theories of its origin and dynamics: namely David Ley s humanist and
demand side theory and Neil Smith s supply side rent gap theory. Hamnett argues that both theories
provide an incomplete picture of this complex process, and thus a cohesive explanation of
gentrification must incorporate ideas from both. This is argued through the critiquing the two differing
viewpoints: examining their potential flaws and citing real world data from studies of other scholars.
Additionally, Hamnett also the viewpoints of contemporary theorists to further his critique of the two
theories, and to construct his proposed multi dimensional explanation of gentrification. Despite its
tight construction, the paper is limited by the lack of real life data accessible to the author at the time
of writing and the relative youth of the topic in the field of geography, both are points alluded to by
the author. Nevertheless, the paper provides an interesting new framework of discussion to the field
that reconciles and integrates two previously opposing viewpoints.
Hamnett begins the paper by arguing that the reason behind the modern geographers sustained interest
in studying gentrification is because of the underlying debate between the so called liberal humanists
who stress the key role of choice, culture, consumption and consumer demand and the Structural
Marxists

The Holocaust and The Final Solution Essay
The Holocaust was not just bad; it was horrific in every way. The Final Solution was meant to control
people and scare people. Over eleven million people died in Europe. The United States came in later
than they should have, but they stopped the Axis Powers from gaining too much control. However, my
people, the Jewish people, would never forget the tragedy that doomed millions of lives.
It was all started by a man named Adolf Hitler. Native to Austria, he fought for Germany in World War
One. After germany surrendered, Hitler was furious. He wanted Germany to rise to what his vision of
greatness was. After a failed attempt to overthrow the government, he got into politics. A few years
later, he became chancellor of Germany. Hitler then ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his mother and father, and Albert Dussel. Then the police found them and took them to transport
camp. From there, they were taken to a labor camp. They were seperated by gender and never saw
each other again. Anne and Margot were taken to another camp after they got sick. Margot died a few
weeks later, followed by Anne, who had survived just days before their camp was freed by the Allies.
Everyone perished except for Anne s father, Otto Frank. He went back to their hiding space to see if
anything had been salvaged and he saw Anne s diary. In it were stories and everything that had
happend while she was there. He published it in honor of Anne and died many years later.
In Washington D.C, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was planning out attcaks on the Axis
Powers, getting advice and suggestions from the generals. Early on, the United States wanted nothing
to do with World War Two. Japan took that as a threat and bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7th,
1941. This caused the US to declare war on the Axis Powers The Axis Powers were Italy, Germany,
and Japan. It wasn t until after the war that the army understood what the Nazis were planning, along
with Italy and Japan. By then, over eleven million people had died in Europe alone.
We learn about the Holocaust so that history doesn t repeat itself. In other words, the world doesn t
want this to happen again.

one of the most culturally diverse societies in the world, containing a multitude of different ethnic and
cultural groups. Though, success looks different to us all, some studies suggest that literacy skills are
vital for cultivating a fruitful society. Children learn best when they can identify with the literature

Great Big Book of Families, it was published in the UK in 2010. Next, I previewed the book online to
determine if it was a quality text. Then, I researched where I could find a hard copy of the book. I
located a copy of the book at Barnes and Nobel. After viewing the book in person, I decided to buy it

vivid illustrations to accompany the text. The book begins with Once upon a time most families in

illustration depicted your typical heteronormative, Caucasian nucleus, containing a dad, mom, brother,
sister, dog and cat. They live in a cottage style home with a white picket fence. The text at the bottom
of the illustration read, In this book are a lot of families living in different ways. Perhaps there s one

of families including, single parent families, adoption, and same sex parents, to name a few. It also
introduced different ways families live, work, go to school, and celebrate special occasions. I was

Genetically Modified Organisms And The Food
Do you know exactly what is in the food you eat every day? Do you read the food labels every time
you eat different food? Are companies, factories, or stores stating the truth when they claim that their
food is organic or natural ? The answer is probably no, unless you really are interested in what you
eat. But for the most part, a great majority of the population in this country have no idea what is in
their food. Most of them probably don t even know what the definition of the word organic or natural
and just assume that if foods have that labeled then they automatically are better than other food who
don t claim they are. Also, consumers have little knowledge on organisms that are a major part of
foods we eat on a daily basis. These organisms are called genetically modified organism or also
known as GMOs. These are organisms whose DNA has been changed or altered, through a processed
called genetic engineering, to change its characteristics in order to make the food, as they claim,
better. According to the Center for Food Safety (CFS), Currently, up to 92% of U.S. corn is genetically
engineered (GE), as are 94% of soybeans and 94% of cotton. It has been estimated that upwards of
75% of processed foods on supermarket shelves contain genetically engineered ingredients. Corn,
soybeans, are substantially used in innumerable amounts of food and to know that 90% of these
ingredients are genetically altered with, can be pretty overwhelming. Although the FDA doesn t

Mr Nobody Determinism
Free will and determinism are major themes in Mr. Nobody. Both of these themes are shown through
postmodern characteristics and techniques. Free will is the power of humans to make choices that are
not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention. Determinism is a theory or doctrine that acts
of the will , occurrences in nature, or social or psychological phenomena are causally determined by
preceding events or natural laws. Free will is present in the film. This can be interpreted through the
young Nemo when he tries to choose the best choice; stay with his father or go with his mother.
Likewise, determinism is seen throughout the film. Determinism can be seen when Nemo can read the
future. This shows how free will and determinism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A movement away from the apparent objectivity provided helps reveal the themes of free will and
determinism. Apparent objectivity is a clear bias with no room for interpretation. With less use of
apparent objectivity, there is more underlying bias opinion. Nemo is an omniscient narrator in the film
because he has access to all future events that are to occur in the film. This can relate to free will and
determinism for the following reasons. Since Nemo can predict the future he has the choice of
choosing. This shows Nemo s character as one who cannot make a choice because of all the possible
outcomes. This hinders his ability of free will because all possible outcomes are set in stone and there
is nothing he can do to change it. As Nemo says, As long as you don t choose, everything remains
possible . What this quote could mean is that there is that the possibilities are endless and there is
nothing someone can do to stop them from doing it. This relates well with the movement away from
apparent objectivity because whatever choice someone makes, there is more interpretation with
whatever choice they make. This is evident throughout the film when it shows different shots of Nemo
in his alternate lives. It shows the different angles of his other lives by portraying that

Mahatma Gandhi And The Indian Independence Movement
When we hear the word India , the first thing that comes to mind is Mahatma Gandhi. The word
Mahatma is a literal translation to: great sage, a saint, a person to be considered as a messiah (Gandhi,
2011, P4). Descriptions such as freedom fighter, warrior for justice and activist are just three popular
terms that describe Mohandas Gandhi today. But are all these descriptions true? Mahatma Gandhi is
revered by mainstream opinion as a Jesus like figure. The media and in particular, Richard
Attenborough (Gandhi 1982), portray Mohandas as the epitome of perseverance, peace and courage.
On the contrary, the film Gandhi, is a shockingly one sided depiction of the Indian independence
movement, which fails to accurately depict history and correctly acknowledge the unnecessary loss of
life caused in the process. Evidence today emphatically refute claims of Gandhi s egalitarian and pious
persona with several historical sources and texts detailing his hypocrisy, stubbornness and blatant
perversions of equality.
Through the film Gandhi, Attenborough depicts the life and role of Mohandas Gandhi in India s bid
for independence from the British. The film is set as a complete flashback of a 24 year old Gandhi
travelling to South Africa in a class coach to his assassination in New Delhi, 1948. It is evident from
the film, that Attenborough mainly focuses on the positive biography of Gandhi to mould his anti
imperialist narrative whilst omitting the sacrifice of the Indian people.

Stem cells have been used in the world before to develop vaccines for diseases basically eradicating

Whoosh, that was a close one. Theses things are powerful. What just happened was indeed a tornado.
Hurricanes and tornadoes have similar characteristics. They both have strong winds, that cause
destruction, and happen in certain places mostly.
First of all, you need to know about their winds. Their winds spin in a cyclonic motion according to
Weather Wizard. Tornados can spin two different ways. Hurricanes spin up to 300 mph in wind speed.
Tornados can not spin that fast. But both of their winds are powerful. The fastest tornado could run

Also, their wind can cause destruction. According to Spencer Adkins hurricanes can destroy a state.

The Persecution And Assassination Of Jean Paul Marat
In The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum
of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis De Sade, Peter Weiss placed a historic revolutionary
setting inside of a chaotic insane asylum. Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with
reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a
play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade,
could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking
violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric
among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about
the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte
Corday.
Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of
her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous
appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise
exposed breasts. These images appear in the first introduction of Corday and create conflict for the
woman portraying her, as well as affect Sade s character of Corday in her carrying out of the plot to
kill Marat. However, the effect on the latter is not a negative one. The sexual

The Current Mental Health Policies Essay
Policies have an important role in regulating and shaping the values in a society. The issues related to
mental health are not only considered as personal but also affecting the relationships with significant
others. The stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health can be traced to the lack of
legislation and protection of rights (Rodriguez del Barrio et al., 2014). The policy makers in mental
health have a challenging task to protect the rights of individuals as well as the public (Swigger
Heinmiller, 2014). Therefore, it is essential to analyse the current mental health policies. In Canada,
provinces adopt their own Mental Health Acts (MHA) to implement mental health services. As of
January 15, 2016, there are 13 mental health acts in Canada (Gray, Hastings, Love, O Reilly, 2016).
The key elements, despite the differences in laws, are (1) involuntary admission criteria, (2) the right
to refuse treatment, and (3) who has the authority to authorize treatment (Browne, 2010). The current
act in Ontario is Mental Health Act, 1990. The Ontario Mental Health Act has adopted a broad
definition of mental health. The term broad has been defined as any disease or disability in mind
(Mental Health Act, 1990 as cited in Gray et al., 2016). Apart from Ontario, only Quebec has adopted
such a definition to mental health. Other jurisdictions have been more specific in defining mental
health (Gray et al., 2016). The authors pointed out that the mental health act in

Contrast Communism And Communism
Liberalism and Communism, two ends of a spectrum, two ideologies that people have long seen as
being diametrically opposed to each other. Though these aforementioned philosophies have some
truths in them, they are not completely consistent with facts. Communism is often flagrantly

China, of ruthless dictators, forced workmanship, and long ration lines, though these images are
propaganda based and misconstructions, as none of those countries were ever communist regimes.
What is most often overlooked in communism is the similarities that it shares with liberalism. Both

Liberals see it as their goals to bring about an open and tolerant society, one where all citizens are free
to pursue and follow their beliefs and ideals with as little interference as possible.
On the other hand Communism is an ideology that did not come about until the second half of the 19th
century. It is an economic political philosophy founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles(2), the
main goal of communism is the destruction of class structure and the ending of capitalism. That is the
biggest difference between the two ideologies; they both disagree on the role of the market and how
the economy should be based. Liberalism actively encourages the growth of the market and
capitalism. Most liberals believe that the economy should not be regulated by the government in any
way or form. It is imperative to realize that the reason liberals believe that the economy should be
unregulated is because they have a different viewpoint of the worth and levels of equality that each
individual is born with.
First and foremost, both liberals and communists believe that all humans are equal and should be
treated as such. That there is an interconnectedness between all people. Both ideologies stress the fact
that the individual self should be satisfied first so that the society, in its sum total, can work
successfully. These sentiments are echoed in the words of John Stuart Mill, who writes that When I
say only himself, I mean directly, for whatever affects himself, may

Coral Reef Bahamas
The coral reef of the Bahamas is home to a large variety of different organisms including sponges,
fish, anemones, sea stars, and crustaceans. They all use the reef as a form of resource for food,
protection from predators, or a place to live (Harborne et al. 2006). However, coral reefs all around the
world are in danger of depletion and destruction more now than ever (Richardson 1998). Damage to
the coral reef is caused by a number of factors such as increasing temperatures or reduction of sea pH
(van Hooidonk et al. 2013). These factors lead to an increase in diseases (Kuta and Richardson 2002;
Zvuloni et al. 2009; Patterson et al. 2002; Gil Agudelo et al. 2004). There is a large range of different
diseases affecting a variety of coral species ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This occurs when there is partial or complete tissue degradation due to a pathogenic microbial
consortium. Sulfur compounds and low oxygen conditions are produced by a concentration of
bacteria, which eventually kills of the coral (Viehman et al. 2006). This is the only disease to date that
can be successfully treated (NMFS 2001). Blotch, circular ring shaped lesions bordered by a faint
yellow colouring distinguish Caribbean Yellow Band Disease (Santavy et al. 1999; Cervino et al.

tissue being lost (Cervino et al. 2005). This disease is directly affecting important reef builders and
therefore affecting the growth of the coral reef itself (NMFS 2001). Dark Spots Disease is associated
with the appearance of dark spots that may expand over time. The affected tissue will occasionally
form depressions of the surface of the coral and may differ depending on the season however the
underlying skeleton will retain dark pigmentation even when tissue is gone (Gil Agudelo

Narrative I Found Timelessness at Grandma s House
It was finally fall break. I was visiting my grandma for a few days. Well past dinnertime, I pulled up to
the white stately home in northern rural Iowa. I parked my car, unloaded my bag and pillow, and
crunched through the leaves to the front porch. The porch was just how I had seen it last; to the right, a
small iron table and chairs, along with an old antique brass pole lamp, and on the left, a flowered
glider that I have spent many a summer afternoon on, swaying back and forth, just thinking.
I slowly opened the front door the same old creak echoed its way throughout the old house,
announcing my arrival just seconds before I called out, Grandma! She appeared around the ... Show

The old antiques collected over the years the smiling peanut piggy bank and John Deere tractor set
included still line the tops of the kitchen cabinets, threatening to overflow their allotted space one day
and spill onto the counter. The cheap suction cup stain glass window hangings still shed odd circles of
light on the dining room table where you least expect it. The old record player still sits in the family
room, broken needle, melted plastic cover (an unfortunate consequence involving a young grandchild
and a burning candle many years ago) and all. Nothing had changed. I mean, sure, the daughters in
law had gotten the major aspects changed over the years the carpets, wallpaper, and curtains but the
little things, the important things, the pieces of the house with character, had not changed a bit. There
is something comforting about that. I guess it s my timeless refuge from the changing world, my
haven from the hurricane of activity that otherwise surrounds my life. My grandmother s home was,
and still is, an oasis for peace and relaxation. The only hassle is trying to convince her not to fuss over
me, not to have a three course meal on the table waiting for me as soon as I step through the door.
In a world of so much pain, so much sorrow, so much death, Grandma s house is love, hope, and life.

Literature V And Catullus
Literature from different time periods and different parts of the world has served as a mode of
influencing people and sparking reform. However, sometimes pieces of literature have unknowingly
influenced other modern day aspects. These similar connections may be found in other present day
literary works, or films, songs, events, and just about anything. For instance, the ancient poem,
Carmen 8 written by Roman poet, Catullus greatly influenced the modern day song, I Fall Apart
performed by Post Malone through similar uses of egocentric tone, masculine stereotypes, battling
internal conflicts, the theme of rejection, and a sense of a deranged mind.
To being with, the ancestor work, Carmen 8 written by Catullus in a few words is a pep talk to
himself, after an illicitly amorous affair between Catullus and a woman by the pseudo name of Lesbia
suddenly ends. The poem opens with Catullus chiding himself for being too gullible and not noticing
the obvious end to the affair. He describes the end as a cease of light in the lines, once there were
sunlit days when you followed after where ever a girl would go... Those were the bright days gone;
now she s no longer yielding, (Gregory, L. 3 8). After Catullus reminisces over his love for Lesbia, he
again rebukes himself for being emasculate by weeping over a woman. Furthermore, Catullus slanders
Lesbia and sneeringly rhetorically asks her what man will compliment her, claim her, and kiss her, if it
is not him anymore. Catullus ends the poem reassuring himself to be firm as rock as, (Gregory, L. 17).
Similar to Carmen 8, the descendant work, I Fall Apart performed by Post Malone is a reflection of a
breakup. The song starts with a quick summary of the breakup, which was the girl not thinking Post
Malone was sufficient for her, thus she left him suddenly and heartbroken. Post Malone goes on to
reiterate the feeling of his heart breaking, and also stating that he had never loved with greater
immensity in the lines, never caught a feelin this hard, harder than the liquor I pour, (Malone, L. 17
18). Moreover, Post Malone insults the girl, after he states he cannot move on from her even after
everyone else but him had seen the end coming. Towards the end of the

However, as we have focused on in this Psychology class, that is not an accurate portrayal of the real

Similarities Between The Bolder And The Allegory Of The Cave
People think that their notion of reality is real, but that is not necessarily true. Great philosophers such
as Plato came up with the Allegory of the Cave to show how our views of reality are not necessarily
real. The Eye of the Beholder also showed how people view reality differently, hence it is not true. As
a kid I had limitations to my knowledge, and I had to look beyond what I knew to learn the truth. As
people we must continue to look past what we know for reality. Nonetheless people continue to
believe only what they can see and what they know, if they were presented with the truth they would
ignore it. Because of our perspectives and knowledge both the Allegory of the Cave and the Eye of the

The Allegory of the Cave and the Eye of the Beholder portray how what we think or know is not
necessarily true. We could all be seeing an illusion of what is real. That is why not all people see the
truth. Some refuse to look past what they know and only believe what they see or what they think. It is
difficult to convince someone of the truth. In the Allegory of the Cave the prisoners ignored the truth,
because they only knew what they had seen, but since the freed man saw things differently he was
seen as crazy. In the Eye of the Beholder people will see only what they want to see and due to the
perspective that they were seeing something through, they will believe it and refuse to believe
something differently. The Eye of the Beholder gives a more useful explanation of how people are
blind to reality, because everyone has a different perspective on things. Everyday people see things
differently, and we know we do, because we all have different opinions. People however, rely on these
opinions for reality. Others think that what they see or how they see something is true, because they
saw it and they believe only what they think. Yet, when you look at the actual truth, none of the
opinions that the people had were real. With the Eye of the Beholder it is simpler to understand how
our perspective and knowledge is not real. It is clearer to see how we must look past what we think we
know, and past our illusions of

Like McMurphy, Luke makes terrible choices that eventually leads to his death. Luke is a war hero, a
man who should be celebrated and saluted wherever he goes, and yet, he chooses to drunkenly cut the
heads off of parking meters, winding up in work farm instead. Luke becomes a hero to his fellow
inmates, much like McMurphy with the patients, emboldening them with his carefree smiles and jests.
It is evident that Luke regrets his choices when he talks to his dying mother; he laments that he tries
but can never stay on the right path (Cool Hand Luke). It is not difficult to discern Luke s American
Dream. He also wants the ideal life of freedom, wealth, and happiness, but, as with McMurphy, he
makes choices that prevent him from achieving said Dream. It is easier to pretend that fictional
characters like McMurphy and Luke are inhumane, much like the murderers and rapists, and should
not be considered as possible paths of life for ourselves or those around us. This is where the concept
of anti hero is relevant, for these characters, however psychopathic or criminal they may be, are
human flawed but still human. No one on this world can to be perfect, for humanity is unique for its
imperfections, its flaws. These characteristics are our strengths but are also our weaknesses. To declare
that we are better than those who have made mistakes, is irresponsible and dangerous. It is imperative

School Dress Code And Anti Dress Codes Essay
Students have been affected by dress codes for many years. Others, for better or for worse, never had
to deal with them. It has been debated for years between parents, students, and school systems alike as
to whether or not dress codes are appropriate to enforce. This essay will summarize, make an
argument, and analyze Krystal Miller s article on this subject, titled, School Dress Codes . School
Dress Codes is a 1990 article about the issues surrounding various city s experiences with enforcing a
school dress code. In the article, four different high schools in Detroit are examined, as well as a
school in Baltimore, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Depositions from both pro dress code and anti dress
code persons are included. The opposing end includes Mary Louise Starks, who is in charge of the
psychological services for the Detroit school system and says dress codes are not the solution to the
violence, A dress code is a temporary measure that is limited in scope. Students are committing these
crimes because they don t have a sense of power and self esteem. They steal from their peers to gain
control over another person (qtd. in Miller 87). An example of a pro dress code student from the
article is 17 year old Jonathon Johns, a senior at Dunbar High School in Baltimore, who says,
Violence isn t as bad as it was. There s no way to prove it s all due to the dress code, but I feel it s had

she was strangled to death. Besides the bruises on her neck that implied the strangulation, a garrote
was also found tied around her. Before JonBenét was found in the basement, her family found a

There are a few different reasons as to why we should all believe that is was Burke who murdered
JonBenét. One reason that her brother would have killed her was because of jealousy. After JonBenét
was born, all of the attention Burke used to get from his parents, especially his mom, went to JonBenét
instead. Patsy, Burke and JonBenét s mother, was a beauty queen in pageants, so she was really
excited to have a girl to enter into beauty pageants to be just like her. JonBenét was always getting her
mother s attention because they were always getting her ready for the next pageant. Whether it was
spending time doing makeup, hair, or getting new clothes, the time was not being spent with Burke,
which is all the more reason as to why he would have killed his sister. Being jealous is not the only
reason he would have killed her, though. In an interview, Judith Phillips, a Ramsey friend, talked
about how Burke had bad flashes of temper and would sometimes get angry easily (York). Maybe
JonBenét did something to upset Burke and he, in that moment, got angry with her and killed her. Not
only did Burke have a bad temper, but there was a previous encounter between Burke and JonBenét
about a year before her murder. Miss Phillips also claimed that the encounter involved Burke hitting
his sister in the face with a golf club, leaving a scar on her cheek. There were some pieces of evidence
that were found at the crime scene that would also lead someone to believe that it was her brother that
killed her. For example, not only did they find the garrote, but they also found a piece from a broken
wooden paint brush that had belonged to Patsy (Diamond). If the Ramsey family members were the
only ones in the house at the time that the crime was committed, the only answer to the murder would
be that it was someone from within their household. There is also reason to believe that it was her
brother who killed her because the autopsy revealed

Section 1: Identification and Evaluation of sources This investigation will explore the question: To
what extent did the oral constitution of the Native Americans, Iroquois Confederacy in specific, affect
the development of the American Constitution? The years 1780 to 1790 will be the focus of this
investigation, to allow for an analysis of the influences on the writing of the United States
Constitution. The first source which will be evaluated in depth is Elizabeth Tooker s book The U.S.
Constitution and the Iroquois League , written in 1988. The origin of this source is valuable because
Tooker is a Professor Emerita of Anthropology at Temple University and has extensively written about
the Native American tribes and the Iroquois, indicating that she is knowledgeable on this topic.
Furthermore, the date of the publication of this source, 1988, strengthens its value, as the Senate had

Constitution. Tooker s book was published the same year and it was a response to the Senate

But it was all too real to those who had the fortune of witnessing one of the greatest musical theatres

between fellow factory workers and their general unhappiness was too much to bear and they moved

explore Jim s comedic talents. In conclusion, Jim Carrey is an actor, husband, father, and a janitor.

Teaching Students With Special Needs
We live in a world where we exclude people who are different and that needs to change not only in the
workplace, but also school. Students with special needs have always been separated from a regular
classroom. By including special needs children, this will help the student not only thrive in academics
but also in life by gaining social and technical skills. Students will feel like they are part of a regular
classroom and are not excluded because of their disability. By students having a regular learning
environment they can start to master particular content and skills. Parents are scared because they
have many questions that they don t feel like are being answered. For example, are there children
going to be getting the attention needed in a general education classroom? and are there effective
methods for students with disabilities to accommodate to in an inclusive setting? . These students will
not receive the support needed but with inclusion they will have the services needed in a regular
classroom. General education teachers will receive the supportive resources in their classroom and
will be prepared for having special needs children in their classrooms. If we keep students separated
from regular classrooms we are not allowing them to thrive. Special needs students are not pushed to
their full potential because they are put into a classroom that clusters all ages and teaches to all
students at once. There are many issues that come with inclusion. An issue with

This Game We Call Life
This Game We Call Life
Every morning brings us a new day, a new light , a new aim to achieve. Our journey as a human being
is to not follow the pre ordinate path, but rather create that path. Along that path, we are forced to deal
with hardships, and struggles that happen every minute of every day. We devote every single day in
finding this path, finding our life, without really knowing or understanding the meaning of life. Life is
beautiful. However, life has problems too, and the challenge lies in facing them with courage. Life is
full of moments of joy, pleasure, success and comfort punctuated by misery, defeat, failures and
problems. There is no human being on Earth, strong, powerful, wise or rich, who has not experienced,

The clique you re in determines who you associate with, what activities you re involved in, and
whether or not your high school experience is a happy one. What if you belong to no clique? Then
what are you? Or rather who are you? High school is very similar to the setting of the Outsiders. The
book takes place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The city is split into two zones, the East Side, and the West
Side. Teens that live in the East Side of town are known as the greasers, the poor kids. The pride
themselves in their long greasy hair. Socs are the West Side rich kids . The difference between Socs
and greasers is not exactly money, but rather the way they feel and live. Greasers feel a lot: when they
love, they love. When they hate, they hate. They are true to their feelings and act before thinking. Socs
don t feel, they live under a cool façade. At the beginning of The Outsiders, Ponyboy feels isolated
from the members of his gang, his brothers, and society at large. His intelligence and love of movies,
books, and nature aren t really appreciated by the gang, or so he thinks. Ponyboy s status as a greaser
also makes him feel like a loser , locked out of opportunities that the wealthier kids acquire. As you
can see, Ponyboy is different. He may think that different is bad...but it s not. Being unique is better
than being normal, or being what you re supposed to be.

Film Review Of The Film Slumdog Millionaire
Film review Tittle of the film is Slumdog Millionaire . The director of this heart breaking film is
Danny Boyle. The film was released in 2008 and it lasts for about 2 hours. This movie is based on the
book Q and A by Vikas Swarup. (Wikipedia) The film itself portrays a powerful sense of prejudice. It
shows the vast divide between people with money and power, as opposed to those who are poor and
have nothing. This movie challenges the stereotype that poor people cannot be smart through retelling
the life of an Indian boy. Summary This is a heartbreakingly sad but also a truthful movie. We get to
see what conditions many people must live in. The storyline is about an Indian boy Jamal Malik who
joined the TV show who wants to be a millionaire . The entire film is based on flashbacks that Jamal is
at the local police station. After the first part of the show, he was sent there for interrogation, as the
show host thought he might have cheated. However, no matter how long and brutal the interrogation
was, he remained calm and insisted that he knew all the answers. After the chief of police replayed the
entire episode of the TV show, Jamal was able to document every single answer based on the events
that took place during his life. During the movie we are introduced to two other characters, Salim and
Latika. Since they were kids, they portrayed themselves as the three musketeers. Starting the life in the
slums their paths have been crossed many times under different circumstances. Surprisingly, each
question asked during the show is somehow tied to certain events that has taken place during Jamal s
life. He goes on about telling all the fragments from his life to prove the fact that he knew the answers.
In the end, the police officer shows him mercy and compassion, by believing in him and delivering
him back to the TV show with an escort to make sure justice is upheld. Danny Boyle is an English
director and film producer. Boyle started his career directing television series, including criminal serial
Inspector Morse. Their international breakthrough he received with the film Trainspotting.

Ancient Egypt And The Egyptian Culture
Ancient Egypt was a fascinating culture, and still seems to surprise the current generation with more
discoveries coming out. And for historians the Egyptian culture has made it easier for scholars and
historians to track their life and culture with all the evidence left behind. The Egyptians were people
who were divide by gender and a strong hierarchy. And the Egyptian culture was quite advanced for
their time in history in regards to technology and economy. Religion was not a single structure; it has
different beliefs all that were linked by focus on the interaction between the Egyptian people and the
divine realm of Egypt, as the gods of this realm linked the Egyptian understanding of the world. And
this is very well known by looking at their artwork throughout their buildings and artifacts. The
religion in ancient Egypt was what made the civilization a very unique one. Religion was also a very
big part in their government structure. Religion played a very important role in constructing daily lives
of ancient Egyptians and inspired those amazing construction buildings that were done. The main
figure was the pharaoh he was the center person that religion evolved around of. Their goal throughout
their existence was to duplicate the conditions that believed were around ever since the start of time of
the human population. They tried so hard to try and figure out and copy that and tried to insert that
into their religion. They believed that the temple that they resided in

Strategic Challenges Between Samsung And Eskom
Introduction
Strategic management plays a vital role in most organisations as it consists of formulating and
implementing the company s goals; this is done by taking into account the available resources and
doing an analysis of the internal and external environment (Takalkar, 2014). The author of this essay
will be identifying and analysing a significant strategic challenge that was faced by a local and global
entity from two different industries, furthermore an external and internal analysis will be given. Lastly
the author will address how the two organisations were able to overcome the strategic challenge in
order to strengthen the strategic positions of the organisations. The local entity that was chosen is
Eskom which falls part of the energy industry and for the global entity Samsung was chosen as it falls
part of the technology industry. The differences found between Samsung and Eskom are that Samsung
provides products that can be seen as a want for its consumers whereas Eskom provides a service
which is a need for the general public. A similarity that can be found between the two entities is that
both these companies are leading players within the industry they belong to. The reason these two
organisations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the strengths that can be identified at Eskom is the fact that it is the main power supplier which
gives Eskom a competitive advantage. The company is also in support of Black Economic
Empowerment and has a highly skilled workforce. With that said the organisation also has weaknesses
and at Eskom an evident weakness is the lack of clear decision making when it comes to policies, such
as the Medupi delay caused by poor decision making. Furthermore Eskom has had labour issues like
the employee strike during the construction of a power station, this lead to a standstill and delay in

What Is The Theme Of The Butter Battle Book
When a topic like the Cold War is mention to children it can be a seen as a harsh and powerful
time. The Butter Battle Book by Dr. Seuss has many similarities involving events in the Cold War
which makes it unacceptable to expose through children s literature.
In the Cold War many events happened due to the political and military tension. For example In 1961,
Nikita Khrushchev which the soviet premier had ordered the Berlin Wall built to atop the flow of
refugees from East to West Berlin (Danzer p677). The Berlin Wall was built by the Communist East
German government to prevent its citizens from fleeing to the West (Danzer pR54). The Berlin Wall
was built to halt large numbers of defections and to prevent East Berliners from commuting to ...

Seuss had many events that were similar to the Cold war (1947 1991). The Butter battle book had a
wall that separated the Yooks from the Zooks due to many conflicts involving the butter side up and
the butter side down. Well as Yooks and Zooks built a wall so did the event of the Cold War. The
United States built a wall called The Berlin Wall to stop the flow of refugees from East to West Berlin
(Government and Politics). Not only did they both build a wall but they also had conflicts against the
other union. For instance The Yooks and Zooks from The Butter Battle Book had major conflicts
against each due to many Zooks eating their bread with the butter side down, in every Zook house and
in every Zook town every Zook eats his bread with the butter side down (Seuss 5). The United States
also had a conflict with the Soviet Union, they were both being driven by a complex interplay of
ideological, political, and economic factors (Thomas). The major people in both The Butter Battle
Book and The Cold War had many similarities. The Chief Yookeroo was the main leader or known as
the Yooks president. Chief Yookeroo was the commander for the bread butter side up which meant all
the Yooks reported to his headquarters fort when needed. Similar to this character was Harry Truman,
33rd president of the Untied States. Harry Truman was given the oath of office in the White House by
Chief Justice Harlan Stone (A+E Networks). Truman was the leader for the United States which meant
anyone would go to him during the Cold

Essay on Machiavelli s Advice to Republics
Machiavelli s Advice to Republics
In secular democracies, power is necessarily derived from the will of the governed. That power is then
entrusted to a leader, who Machiavelli would understand to be a prince . Inherently, his book, The
Prince, has been close at hand for most politicians for centuries, as it provides general, historically
proven advice for principalities and republics on how to govern and maintain relations with their most
important resource and the very core of their power, which would be the people themselves.
Machiavelli s realization of the penultimate import of the people is probably most significant reason
his book holds so much influence on realpolitik. He writes, it is essential for a prince to possess ...

This is not to say, however, that Machiavelli intended the prince to be indulgent and benevolent to the
people, he says quite clearly in Chapter 17, #8230;it is much more safe to be feared than loved, when
you have to choose between the two #8230; Machiavelli s reasoning was that an excess of clemency
towards the subjects when they do something wrong would lead to widespread crime, hurting the
whole community. Therefore, being cruel and severe to those who deserve it would allow for the
greatest utility (Chapter 17). This view on how to maintain relations with the populace is both logical
and realistic. However, Machiavelli draws a clear distinction between being feared and hated. He
writes, A prince must make himself feared in such a manner that #8230; he shall at least not incur their
hatred, for being the feared, and not hated, can go very well together, (Chapter 17). The way that a
ruler can earn his subjects hatred, says Machiavelli, is if he steals or harms their property. Therefore,
by being severe and cruel in his punishments he inspires fear. In being feared, the prince further
secures his empowerment, for none of his subjects dare to attempt to take it from him. More advice
given to the prince by Machiavelli was on general good governance, meaning how to rule, all
supported by historical examples. He writes, #8230;the prince will avail himself of the occasion
#8230; to secure himself, with less consideration for

tip of my finger until I told him to stop. I held my finger approximately 12 to 15 inches in front of his

this by a second pass of my finger from side to side. I then moved my finger from the left side of his
face as far as his eyes could possibly follow and held this position for approximately four seconds. I
observed he had distinct nystagmus with maximum deviation. I then moved my finger to the right side
of his face as far as I could follow. I held this position for approximately four seconds and noticed
there was distinct nystagmus at maximum deviation. I then moved my finger from the left side of his

Lyme Disease Analysis
Lyme disease or Lyme Borreliosis is a vector borne disease that is caused by spirochaete Borrelia
burgdorferi bacteria (WHO, 2016). These bacteria are transmitted through the bites of infected deer
ticks (WHO, 2016). Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint
pain (WHO, 2016). Often a rash appears at the site of the tick bite and may gradually expand to a ring
around the bite. Lyme disease was first observed in the State of Connecticut in 1975. Currently, the
disease may be found in forested areas of Asia, Europe and the United States. In these areas deer ticks
feed on mice and rodents, which serve as a reservoir for this bacteria (MayoClinic.org, 2015). Then in
adult hood deer ticks feed on white tailed and other targets of opportunity. Individuals who ... Show

Unfortunately, for individuals in the developing world resources are lacking. It is individuals in these
situations that are extremely vulnerable to potential exposure. Climate change is also impacting
disease transmission. Large environmental areas are shrinking due to urban sprawl which is leading to
increased populations density s, increased pathogen load, decreased distributions, and a greater
prevalence of disease (Mills, Gage, Khan, 2010). Thus, larger numbers of individuals are living in
close proximity of disease vectors. In this paper I have discussed the vector borne disease of Lyme
disease, and the zoonotic disease of Rabies. Both of these diseases are preventable and treatable but
they do present public health hazards. Climate change is adversely impacting environments and
humans are now living closer than ever to the boundaries of these diseases. In fact, in greater densely
populated areas more and more individuals are coming into contact with such diseases. Prevention
requires resources which many developing countries are lacking which leads to inadequate treatment

Antigua American Culture
Prior to European discovery and colonization, Antigua had been inhabited by a group of Amerindian
peoples called the Carib. These people had their own distinct culture and way of life which was
destroyed when they were forced into slavery by the Europeans. At the beginning of the West African
slave trade, Africans from places such as Sierra Leone, Gold Coast, and Dahomy were bought,
sometimes stolen and brought to Antigua. From the point of introduction the number of west African
slaves in Antigua grew steadily. Whereas in 1670 there was only 570 slaves, at the height of slavery in
1800 there was 37,000 slaves. The Europeans tried all they could to stifle the culture and cut out the
traditions that the Africans had. Many tried forcefully

The Secret Lives Of John Wilson Analysis
Glory and Scandal , or in other words Mary and John, two characters from the novel The Secret Lives
of Sgt. John Wilson who fall in love but eventually end their relationship on a tragic note. Many
events occurred through out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell madly in love,
the transition into John becoming more of a ghost then a husband, then a more twisted unforeseen plot
that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the characters in the novel plus
the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main contributor as to why I love this book.
Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by scandal and deceit, then ended in a most
unspeakable way.
Mary Hutchinson was by far the most glorious and loving person through out the novel, caring,
passionate, and loved by all that knew her. She was a young seamstress who lived a simple life
making an honest living and was very close to her loving family. She had been pursued by her co
worker the young Jack Wilson who fall in love with her (or so she thought), but it was normal for
people to be attracted to her beautiful nature. After years of courting they had finally gotten married
and had children of their own although the second would not be born until the father I say vaguely had
left the country. This once highly sought after woman would now be left to care for two young
children while her husband moved countries to find work (not to mention flee

  • 2. Sikh Interview Research Paper Interview The interview was arranged the day we met at the temple. I noticed that there were to many Sikhs around, so I decided to have the interview schedule to another day. Also, the day we were at the temple, he encouraged us to eat lunch. And, to my surprised he then vanished. I never saw him again that day. I didn t see him eating lunch with the other men. So, I supposed he left back to work. I believe that he could have at least said something like you are more than welcome to stay and finish eating lunch because I have to go back to work. Regardless, of what happen that day, I knew where to find him to complete the interview, so I was not worried. However, I was more confused about how little communication there is between guests and the Sikh believers. Mr. B is the owner of a gas station, Gasco, in Delano. His brother in law and his seventeen year old daughter help him operate the cash register. He has been living in the United States for the past 20 years. He is around fifty years old. From her, kings are born; From a woman, woman is born; without woman there would be non one at all (Nesbitt, 2000). This quote is printed in every Guru temple. • 3. Similarities Between Mormonism And Rastafarians Religion as a collective is constantly moving, changing, evolving. With the introduction of New Religious Movements, pluralism, globalization and glocalization, interfaith initiatives it seems safe to say that religion will forever remain fluid and changing, as faiths adapt to culture, society, and the needs of their followers they will not die out. I believe that Mormonism and Rastafarians show this with great abundance. While both Rastafarians and Mormonism share a good amount of similar thoughts, they also cater to very separate demographics. I realize in writing that statement how counterintuitive it sounds, thus, first we will explore how Rastafi and Mormons are similar in their faiths. Both the Mormon and Rastafarian movements cater to very specific demographics. Mormonism caters to those who believe that the Christian Church lost it s way after the death of Christ, and restore what the Mormons consider true Christianity, as opposed to apostasy (abandonment of principles) which they feel characterizes the Christian churches. (1) While Rastafari caters to an ethnic group that has experienced severe oppression at the hands of Babylon , they intend to revive the Way of the Ancients, their concept of the lost civilization of precolonial Africa, and to free people of African extraction from subservience. • 4. Comparing Feminist Poetry by Plath and Sexton Essay Comparing Feminist Poetry by Plath and Sexton Poetry should be a shock to the senses. It should also hurt Anne Sexton believed (Baym 2703), and evidence of this maxim s implications echoes loudly through the writing of Sexton as well as through the work of her friend and contemporary Sylvia Plath. Plath and Sexton s lifetimes spanned a period of remarkable change in the social role of women in America, and both are obviously feminist poets caught somewhere between the submissive pasts of their mothers and the liberated futures awaiting their daughters. With few established female poets to emulate, Plath and Sexton broke new ground with their intensely personal, confessional poetry. Their anger and frustration with female ... However, Plath uses her father s German ancestry, as well as ideas about women s relationships with their fathers and husbands, to broaden the poem s significance beyond the scope of her own experience. Plath herself said that the poem related to the Electra complex, defined by The World Book Medical Encyclopedia as a Freudian theory about a young girl s possessive but repressed love for her father ( Electra Complex online). The child narrating Daddy, in a youthful, Kipling like rhythm, is haunted by her father s monumental presence in her world, calling him marble heavy, a bag full of God (Plath 2748). Both the poem s childlike cadence and the innocent description of a father still the center of a young girl s universe make it easy to re experience a youthful yearning for parental approval. When the father in the poem dies, the young girl spends much of her life searching for a way to understand and get close to him despite his absence. She inquires about the town where he grew up, but finds that [...] the name of the town is common. / My Polack friend / Says there are a dozen or two. / So I never could tell where you / Put your foot, your root, / I never could talk to you (Plath 2748). • 6. The, The And, And Demand Side Theory And Neil Smith s... This paper published by geographer Chris Hamnett traces the popularity of research into gentrification and examines the competing theories of its origin and dynamics: namely David Ley s humanist and demand side theory and Neil Smith s supply side rent gap theory. Hamnett argues that both theories provide an incomplete picture of this complex process, and thus a cohesive explanation of gentrification must incorporate ideas from both. This is argued through the critiquing the two differing viewpoints: examining their potential flaws and citing real world data from studies of other scholars. Additionally, Hamnett also the viewpoints of contemporary theorists to further his critique of the two theories, and to construct his proposed multi dimensional explanation of gentrification. Despite its tight construction, the paper is limited by the lack of real life data accessible to the author at the time of writing and the relative youth of the topic in the field of geography, both are points alluded to by the author. Nevertheless, the paper provides an interesting new framework of discussion to the field that reconciles and integrates two previously opposing viewpoints. Hamnett begins the paper by arguing that the reason behind the modern geographers sustained interest in studying gentrification is because of the underlying debate between the so called liberal humanists who stress the key role of choice, culture, consumption and consumer demand and the Structural Marxists ... Over eleven million people died in Europe. The United States came in later than they should have, but they stopped the Axis Powers from gaining too much control. However, my people, the Jewish people, would never forget the tragedy that doomed millions of lives. It was all started by a man named Adolf Hitler. • 12. Genetically Modified Organisms And The Food Do you know exactly what is in the food you eat every day? Do you read the food labels every time you eat different food? Are companies, factories, or stores stating the truth when they claim that their food is organic or natural ? The answer is probably no, unless you really are interested in what you eat. But for the most part, a great majority of the population in this country have no idea what is in their food. Most of them probably don t even know what the definition of the word organic or natural and just assume that if foods have that labeled then they automatically are better than other food who don t claim they are. Also, consumers have little knowledge on organisms that are a major part of foods we eat on a daily basis. These organisms are called genetically modified organism or also known as GMOs. These are organisms whose DNA has been changed or altered, through a processed called genetic engineering, to change its characteristics in order to make the food, as they claim, better. Free will is the power of humans to make choices that are not determined by prior causes or by divine intervention. Determinism is a theory or doctrine that acts of the will , occurrences in nature, or social or psychological phenomena are causally determined by preceding events or natural laws. Free will is present in the film. This can be interpreted through the young Nemo when he tries to choose the best choice; stay with his father or go with his mother. A movement away from the apparent objectivity provided helps reveal the themes of free will and determinism. Apparent objectivity is a clear bias with no room for interpretation. With less use of apparent objectivity, there is more underlying bias opinion. Nemo is an omniscient narrator in the film because he has access to all future events that are to occur in the film. This can relate to free will and determinism for the following reasons. Since Nemo can predict the future he has the choice of choosing. This shows Nemo s character as one who cannot make a choice because of all the possible outcomes. This hinders his ability of free will because all possible outcomes are set in stone and there is nothing he can do to change it. As Nemo says, As long as you don t choose, everything remains possible . What this quote could mean is that there is that the possibilities are endless and there is nothing someone can do to stop them from doing it. This relates well with the movement away from apparent objectivity because whatever choice someone makes, there is more interpretation with whatever choice they make. • 14. Mahatma Gandhi And The Indian Independence Movement When we hear the word India , the first thing that comes to mind is Mahatma Gandhi. The word Mahatma is a literal translation to: great sage, a saint, a person to be considered as a messiah (Gandhi, 2011, P4). Descriptions such as freedom fighter, warrior for justice and activist are just three popular terms that describe Mohandas Gandhi today. But are all these descriptions true? Mahatma Gandhi is revered by mainstream opinion as a Jesus like figure. The media and in particular, Richard Attenborough (Gandhi 1982), portray Mohandas as the epitome of perseverance, peace and courage. On the contrary, the film Gandhi, is a shockingly one sided depiction of the Indian independence movement, which fails to accurately depict history and correctly acknowledge the unnecessary loss of life caused in the process. Evidence today emphatically refute claims of Gandhi s egalitarian and pious persona with several historical sources and texts detailing his hypocrisy, stubbornness and blatant perversions of equality. Through the film Gandhi, Attenborough depicts the life and role of Mohandas Gandhi in India s bid for independence from the British. The film is set as a complete flashback of a 24 year old Gandhi travelling to South Africa in a class coach to his assassination in New Delhi, 1948. It is evident from the film, that Attenborough mainly focuses on the positive biography of Gandhi to mould his anti imperialist narrative whilst omitting the sacrifice of the Indian people. ... The Persecution And Assassination Of Jean Paul Marat In The Persecution and Assassination of Jean Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton under the Direction of the Marquis De Sade, Peter Weiss placed a historic revolutionary setting inside of a chaotic insane asylum. Sex and violence dominate revolution, madness blends with reason, and political ideologies battle head to head while the plot unfolds. Marat/Sade focuses on a play authored by the Marquis de Sade inside of the play itself. Weiss, writing in the voice of Sade, could not ignore the sexual perversions of the historical figure, which allowed for the shocking violence and sexualization that can be found within the play. Under the inflated political rhetoric among the two leading ideologists, Jean Paul Marat and the Marquis de Sade, the story is one about the French Revolution. Specifically, Marat/Sade tells the story of the murder of Marat by Charlotte Corday. Sade s characterization of Corday as the sexualized female begins with the Herald s introduction of her. His description predominately includes her physical features. Her phenomenally pulchritudinous appearance includes stylish shoes and a cloth around her neck. Only a thin veil covers her otherwise exposed breasts. • 19. The Current Mental Health Policies Essay Policies have an important role in regulating and shaping the values in a society. The issues related to mental health are not only considered as personal but also affecting the relationships with significant others. The stigma and discrimination faced by people with mental health can be traced to the lack of legislation and protection of rights (Rodriguez del Barrio et al., 2014). The policy makers in mental health have a challenging task to protect the rights of individuals as well as the public (Swigger Heinmiller, 2014). Therefore, it is essential to analyse the current mental health policies. In Canada, provinces adopt their own Mental Health Acts (MHA) to implement mental health services. As of January 15, 2016, there are 13 mental health acts in Canada (Gray, Hastings, Love, O Reilly, 2016). The key elements, despite the differences in laws, are (1) involuntary admission criteria, (2) the right to refuse treatment, and (3) who has the authority to authorize treatment (Browne, 2010). The current act in Ontario is Mental Health Act, 1990. The Ontario Mental Health Act has adopted a broad definition of mental health. The term broad has been defined as any disease or disability in mind (Mental Health Act, 1990 as cited in Gray et al., 2016). • 20. Contrast Communism And Communism Liberalism and Communism, two ends of a spectrum, two ideologies that people have long seen as being diametrically opposed to each other. Though these aforementioned philosophies have some truths in them, they are not completely consistent with facts. Communism is often flagrantly misunderstood in America; it brings up images of the communist programs in Russia, Cuba, and China, of ruthless dictators, forced workmanship, and long ration lines, though these images are propaganda based and misconstructions, as none of those countries were ever communist regimes. What is most often overlooked in communism is the similarities that it shares with liberalism. Both ideologies believe in the uniqueness of the individual, that the private person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Liberals see it as their goals to bring about an open and tolerant society, one where all citizens are free to pursue and follow their beliefs and ideals with as little interference as possible. On the other hand Communism is an ideology that did not come about until the second half of the 19th century. It is an economic political philosophy founded by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engles(2), the main goal of communism is the destruction of class structure and the ending of capitalism. That is the biggest difference between the two ideologies; they both disagree on the role of the market and how the economy should be based. Liberalism actively encourages the growth of the market and capitalism. Most liberals believe that the economy should not be regulated by the government in any way or form. It is imperative to realize that the reason liberals believe that the economy should be unregulated is because they have a different viewpoint of the worth and levels of equality that each individual is born with. First and foremost, both liberals and communists believe that all humans are equal and should be treated as such. That there is an interconnectedness between all people. Both ideologies stress the fact that the individual self should be satisfied first so that the society, in its sum total, can work successfully. They all use the reef as a form of resource for food, protection from predators, or a place to live (Harborne et al. 2006). However, coral reefs all around the world are in danger of depletion and destruction more now than ever (Richardson 1998). Damage to the coral reef is caused by a number of factors such as increasing temperatures or reduction of sea pH (van Hooidonk et al. 2013). These factors lead to an increase in diseases (Kuta and Richardson 2002; Zvuloni et al. 2009; Patterson et al. 2002; Gil Agudelo et al. 2004). Well past dinnertime, I pulled up to the white stately home in northern rural Iowa. I parked my car, unloaded my bag and pillow, and crunched through the leaves to the front porch. The porch was just how I had seen it last; to the right, a small iron table and chairs, along with an old antique brass pole lamp, and on the left, a flowered glider that I have spent many a summer afternoon on, swaying back and forth, just thinking. The old record player still sits in the family room, broken needle, melted plastic cover (an unfortunate consequence involving a young grandchild and a burning candle many years ago) and all. • 23. Literature V And Catullus Literature from different time periods and different parts of the world has served as a mode of influencing people and sparking reform. However, sometimes pieces of literature have unknowingly influenced other modern day aspects. These similar connections may be found in other present day literary works, or films, songs, events, and just about anything. For instance, the ancient poem, Carmen 8 written by Roman poet, Catullus greatly influenced the modern day song, I Fall Apart performed by Post Malone through similar uses of egocentric tone, masculine stereotypes, battling internal conflicts, the theme of rejection, and a sense of a deranged mind. To being with, the ancestor work, Carmen 8 written by Catullus in a few words is a pep talk to himself, after an illicitly amorous affair between Catullus and a woman by the pseudo name of Lesbia suddenly ends. The poem opens with Catullus chiding himself for being too gullible and not noticing the obvious end to the affair. He describes the end as a cease of light in the lines, once there were sunlit days when you followed after where ever a girl would go... Those were the bright days gone; now she s no longer yielding, (Gregory, L. 3 8). After Catullus reminisces over his love for Lesbia, he again rebukes himself for being emasculate by weeping over a woman. Furthermore, Catullus slanders Lesbia and sneeringly rhetorically asks her what man will compliment her, claim her, and kiss her, if it is not him anymore. Catullus ends the poem reassuring himself to be firm as rock as, (Gregory, L. 17). Similar to Carmen 8, the descendant work, I Fall Apart performed by Post Malone is a reflection of a breakup. The song starts with a quick summary of the breakup, which was the girl not thinking Post Malone was sufficient for her, thus she left him suddenly and heartbroken. Post Malone goes on to reiterate the feeling of his heart breaking, and also stating that he had never loved with greater immensity in the lines, never caught a feelin this hard, harder than the liquor I pour, (Malone, L. 17 18). Moreover, Post Malone insults the girl, after he states he cannot move on from her even after everyone else but him had seen the end coming. Towards the end of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Allegory of the Cave the prisoners ignored the truth, because they only knew what they had seen, but since the freed man saw things differently he was seen as crazy. In the Eye of the Beholder people will see only what they want to see and due to the perspective that they were seeing something through, they will believe it and refuse to believe something differently. The Eye of the Beholder gives a more useful explanation of how people are blind to reality, because everyone has a different perspective on things. Everyday people see things differently, and we know we do, because we all have different opinions. People however, rely on these opinions for reality. Others think that what they see or how they see something is true, because they saw it and they believe only what they think. This essay will summarize, make an argument, and analyze Krystal Miller s article on this subject, titled, School Dress Codes . School Dress Codes is a 1990 article about the issues surrounding various city s experiences with enforcing a school dress code. In the article, four different high schools in Detroit are examined, as well as a school in Baltimore, Chicago, and Los Angeles. After JonBenét was born, all of the attention Burke used to get from his parents, especially his mom, went to JonBenét instead. Patsy, Burke and JonBenét s mother, was a beauty queen in pageants, so she was really excited to have a girl to enter into beauty pageants to be just like her. JonBenét was always getting her mother s attention because they were always getting her ready for the next pageant. Whether it was spending time doing makeup, hair, or getting new clothes, the time was not being spent with Burke, which is all the more reason as to why he would have killed his sister. Being jealous is not the only reason he would have killed her, though. In an interview, Judith Phillips, a Ramsey friend, talked about how Burke had bad flashes of temper and would sometimes get angry easily (York). Maybe JonBenét did something to upset Burke and he, in that moment, got angry with her and killed her. Not only did Burke have a bad temper, but there was a previous encounter between Burke and JonBenét about a year before her murder. Miss Phillips also claimed that the encounter involved Burke hitting his sister in the face with a golf club, leaving a scar on her cheek. There were some pieces of evidence that were found at the crime scene that would also lead someone to believe that it was her brother that killed her. For example, not only did they find the garrote, but they also found a piece from a broken wooden paint brush that had belonged to Patsy (Diamond). • 39. Teaching Students With Special Needs We live in a world where we exclude people who are different and that needs to change not only in the workplace, but also school. Students with special needs have always been separated from a regular classroom. By including special needs children, this will help the student not only thrive in academics but also in life by gaining social and technical skills. Students will feel like they are part of a regular classroom and are not excluded because of their disability. By students having a regular learning environment they can start to master particular content and skills. Parents are scared because they have many questions that they don t feel like are being answered. For example, are there children going to be getting the attention needed in a general education classroom? and are there effective methods for students with disabilities to accommodate to in an inclusive setting? . These students will not receive the support needed but with inclusion they will have the services needed in a regular classroom. General education teachers will receive the supportive resources in their classroom and will be prepared for having special needs children in their classrooms. If we keep students separated from regular classrooms we are not allowing them to thrive. Special needs students are not pushed to their full potential because they are put into a classroom that clusters all ages and teaches to all students at once. There are many issues that come with inclusion. An issue with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The author of this essay will be identifying and analysing a significant strategic challenge that was faced by a local and global entity from two different industries, furthermore an external and internal analysis will be given. • 46. Essay on Machiavelli s Advice to Republics Machiavelli s Advice to Republics In secular democracies, power is necessarily derived from the will of the governed. That power is then entrusted to a leader, who Machiavelli would understand to be a prince . Inherently, his book, The Prince, has been close at hand for most politicians for centuries, as it provides general, historically proven advice for principalities and republics on how to govern and maintain relations with their most important resource and the very core of their power, which would be the people themselves. Machiavelli s realization of the penultimate import of the people is probably most significant reason his book holds so much influence on realpolitik. He writes, it is essential for a prince to possess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is not to say, however, that Machiavelli intended the prince to be indulgent and benevolent to the people, he says quite clearly in Chapter 17, #8230;it is much more safe to be feared than loved, when you have to choose between the two #8230; Machiavelli s reasoning was that an excess of clemency towards the subjects when they do something wrong would lead to widespread crime, hurting the whole community. Therefore, being cruel and severe to those who deserve it would allow for the greatest utility (Chapter 17). This view on how to maintain relations with the populace is both logical and realistic. However, Machiavelli draws a clear distinction between being feared and hated. He writes, A prince must make himself feared in such a manner that #8230; he shall at least not incur their hatred, for being the feared, and not hated, can go very well together, (Chapter 17). The way that a ruler can earn his subjects hatred, says Machiavelli, is if he steals or harms their property. Therefore, by being severe and cruel in his punishments he inspires fear. In being feared, the prince further secures his empowerment, for none of his subjects dare to attempt to take it from him. More advice given to the prince by Machiavelli was on general good governance, meaning how to rule, all supported by historical examples. These bacteria are transmitted through the bites of infected deer ticks (WHO, 2016). Symptoms of the disease include fever, chills, headache, fatigue, muscle and joint pain (WHO, 2016). Often a rash appears at the site of the tick bite and may gradually expand to a ring around the bite. Lyme disease was first observed in the State of Connecticut in 1975. Currently, the disease may be found in forested areas of Asia, Europe and the United States. In these areas deer ticks feed on mice and rodents, which serve as a reservoir for this bacteria (MayoClinic.org, 2015). Large environmental areas are shrinking due to urban sprawl which is leading to increased populations density s, increased pathogen load, decreased distributions, and a greater prevalence of disease (Mills, Gage, Khan, 2010). Thus, larger numbers of individuals are living in close proximity of disease vectors. In this paper I have discussed the vector borne disease of Lyme disease, and the zoonotic disease of Rabies. Both of these diseases are preventable and treatable but they do present public health hazards. Climate change is adversely impacting environments and humans are now living closer than ever to the boundaries of these diseases. John Wilson who fall in love but eventually end their relationship on a tragic note. Many events occurred through out the novel that caught my interest such as; the way they fell madly in love, the transition into John becoming more of a ghost then a husband, then a more twisted unforeseen plot that caught most readers entirely by surprise. The love affairs between the characters in the novel plus the twists and turns you experience while reading is the main contributor as to why I love this book. Two polar opposites who started a life together, followed by scandal and deceit, then ended in a most unspeakable way. Mary Hutchinson was by far the most glorious and loving person through out the novel, caring, passionate, and loved by all that knew her. She was a young seamstress who lived a simple life making an honest living and was very close to her loving family.
