This industry is directly impacted by the housing market though despite the housing market crash in

Stevenson s Veto Debate Analysis
On April 23, 1949, the Illinois Governor, Adlai Stevenson, wrote a satirical yet professional response
to a citizen s request to restrain all cats. This veto is titled, The Cat Bill Veto. The Illinois senate
received a bill from a concerned citizen. The citizen feels that cats should be contained because of the
public nuisance some see cats to be. Stevenson writes a letter expressing understanding of the
situation, but reminding the Senate that this is a minor issue compared to the major problems being
faced. While analyzing Stevenson´s response to the bill, many of us will recognize the satirical diction
and Stevenson´s ethical credibility being revealed. Throughout Stevenson´s veto bill, it is clear that he
uses satirical diction to imply

The Social Network Essay
The Dramatic Interpretation of the Social Network Myth After watching the movie The Social
Network, the first thing I did was to search for Mark Zuckerberg s real life experiences to see which
parts are facts and which are fictions. As a matter of fact, this Harvard genius that founded the world s
first social network was not as childish as the movie portrayed. At least he didn t write programming
for getting into elite Harvard Final Clubs or for retaliating his girlfriend. During Mark s high school,
Microsoft and AOL tried to purchase the music player that he built and also invited him to join them.
However, Mark decided to enroll in Harvard for further education. From where I stand, although the
movie is fictional, it can easily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like, every single shirt and fleece that I had in that movie is actually a shirt or fleece that I own.
Someone might build something because they like building things, Zuckerberg explains. Normally,
Mark should be the person who cares about the movie most and might be pissed off because the movie
portrayed him in an unflattering light. But it seems that he respects the ideas and decisions of the
filmmakers, more or less, in terms of artistic creation. It was because he wanted to see how
filmmakers would interpret his unimaginable story. This kind of art stresses the maze beyond art and
the real world, which can only be seen through by smart people who also show respect to the artwork.
The movie s final image Zuckerberg friending the woman who dumped him and endlessly refreshing
the page to see if she accepts is presented as pathetic irony. But you could also read it as a sign of
hope. In the Facebook world, which is now ours, a new communication infrastructure exists, with no
avenues definitively closed. (Edelstein) The real Zuckerberg had a vision that Facebook would help
create communities in an ever insular world. And now we have seen the evolution. The world is
changing so fast that we all get confused and disoriented without knowing what to do next. We like
the Facebook: fast, simple, up to date...While the

Voodoo In Haitian Culture
In many parts of the world, rituals are considered a religious or solemn ceremony consisting of a
series of actions performed to a prescribed order. Rituals such as voodoo is so spiritual that it is
considered to be a religion, and it is the dominant religion of Haiti. To us, the practices and
descriptions of Voodoo belief may sound superstitious, but if you take a moment to imagine what the
miraculous healings of Jesus may sound like to a person practicing voodoo, they too would think it is
superstitious. Voodoo is taken very seriously by many of the natives; not just unlettered peasants, but
also man intelligent and learned members of the Haitian society.
In Voodoo, much like Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, they too have one God, but theirs ... Show

Rada is a family spirit considered to be relatively peaceful and happy. Petro, also called Congo, is
black magic voodoo; angry, mean and nasty lwa. Dangerous things happen in Petro including death
and curses. Rada accounts for about 95% of Voodoo, if not more. Thus the spectacular tales of black
magic, while very real, are extremely limited.
Petro is not the typical Voodoo, but it does exist. Humans have two spirits and a body; tibonange (little
good angel), and grosbonange (big good angel).
Voodoo, which comes from the word vodu in the Fon language of Dahomey meaning spirit/god,
originated in Haiti during the French Colonial Period, the foundation of the tribal religions West
Africa brought to Haiti by slave in the seventeenth century. Voodoo was developed as a religious
ideology of Africanism, and as an occasion to meet, plan and motivate resistance to slavery. In the
maroon communities, this played a great deal in the revolutionary struggle against slavery from 1797
1803.
Haiti was isolated during much of its history, allowing Voodoo to develop with its own unique
traditions, beliefs and gods. Once living in Haiti, the slaves created a new system of beliefs based on
their shared beliefs, at the same time absorbing each tribe s strongest traditions and

Belongingness By Banana Yoshimoto
A definition of belongingness is to have a sense of affinity with the same taste, thought, situation as
oneself and put yourself there. Furthermore, it would be able to be supported from someone and
supports someone. In other words, each person who has the above things would support each other. In
addition, the definition of belongingness represented as family and kitchens in the book, Kitchen that
was written by Banana Yoshimoto, and both family and kitchens had the important role to play in
establishing the identity of Mikage. In this case, Mikage family were grandmother, Yuichi, and Eriko,
and kitchen was a place which creates energy to live. Both saved Mikage from lonely and established
the identity of Mikage. Mikage s grandmother, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She needed a family that is holding similar sadness. Yuichi and Eriko gave the family because both
also had similar sadness. Yuichi was sad the death of Mikage s grandmother as well as his mother s
death. Eriko also had sorrow for the death of her/his wife, who was mother of Yuichi. In this book, her
ex boyfriend appeared. Mikage sometimes used a word light as a symbol of what she wants. If Yuichi
and Eriko represent as gentle light, the ex boyfriend would be bright light like the sun. He was also a
relief for her and she still liked him, but she did not desire a bright light: she desired a gentle light.
According to the book, Mikage said When my grandmother died the other day, I was taken by surprise
(Yshimoto Banana. 04). The line is written as if it were someone else s affair. In other words, she was
not prepared to accept the sudden grandmother s death at first. However, she was able to accept her
grandmother s death gradually while spending time with Yuichi and Eriko. They did not do anything
to her, they just stood side by her and spent slowly time together. she needed this time. They became
the second family for her. Eriko would be like Mikage s grandmother for Mikage and Yuichi would be
a comrade. She would be strongly attracted to the two because they had something like her. In
particular, Yuichi was a big trigger to accept my grandmother s death, and his presence had become

To Room Nineteen Crytical Analysis
_ To Room Nineteen _
I plan to argue To Room Nineteen by Doris Lessing for an audience of professors interested in the
field of psychology and it s affect on women s lives, stating that the cause of suicide for Ms. Dubois is
not because of the social judgments and perception negatively that impacted Susan s domestic
responsibilities but rather the lack of emotion within her life and her relationship with her husband,
because she could live up to the ideals valued by culture and beliefs but deep down she married for the
benefit of others and no love in their relationship or with her children.
Traditionally in the mid twentieth century, women held various duties that were crucial to keep their
households intact. Most have sacrificed much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also Sophie, the Rawlings household worker, replaced Susan s position in the family. Ever since
Sophie was welcomed into the family, she has been more of a mother, wife, and mistress of the house
than Susan, which caused her to feel out of place. She took lunch with Mrs. Parkes, Sophie, Sophie s
Italian friend Maria, and her daughter Molly, and felt like a visitor. (2777) It gives her the impression
that she was invisible and separated from her family. In addition, her four children require her
complete attention to tend for them so that they would grow to be strong and healthy adults. She was
breaking her part of the bargain and there was no way of forcing her to keep it: that her spirit, her soul,
should live in this house, so that people in it could grow like plants in water, and Mrs. Parkes remain
content in their service. (2772) As long as she s their mother, she will continuously put all her energy
to raise her children. She could not deliver all these requests to nurture her children, so she decides to
abandon her duties. Seclusion is a major aspect that influences a person to become odd and bizarre.
Women s freedom and liberation are restrained because of the principles followed by customary
lifestyles. Doris Lessing draws extensively on women s inner, private experiences and on their
departure from the unsatisfactory reality of life in an alienated and alienating society. (Rula Quawas)

Mercury Financial Valuation Case
Mercury Athletic Footwear: Valuing the Opportunity
Team 10 / Mergers and Acquisitions
West Coast Fashions, Inc (WCF) was a large business, which dealt with men s and women s apparel.
One of their segments was Mercury Athletic Footwear. WCF wanted to dispose off this segment. They
just wanted to divest because they wanted to focus more on their core business and move it up to the
elite class.
John Liedtke was the Business Development Head at that time in Active Gear Inc. He had a clear idea
that acquiring Mercury will shoot up AGI s revenues for sure. It would also ensure an expansion of the
key business. In order to get a clearer picture on the acquisition, he needed to compare and analyze the
company s financials well. By this he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the information in the case, Men s Athletic revenue grew more 40% over the prior year
and the average compound rate from 2004 2006 was of 29%, therefore the forecasted item should be
based on this assumption from the case of CAGR of 29%. This projection seems conservative and it
can be modified towards the expected 29% growth.
Men s Casual
Women s Athletic
This segmented shows a growth rate of 2,50% from 2007 2011. According to the information provided
in the case, the sales of this business line should be declining at 6,25% per year not increasing.
Therefore its sales should decrease in this percentage not increase as projected per Liedtke.
Liedtke projected for this business segment, an average growth rate 7,98% (2007 2001). The case
indicates a growth from 2004 2005 of 13,5% per year . Therefore this can be somewhat a conservative
growth projection. Since this has been solid growth, this could be increased to maintain the 13, 5%
sales growth in the upcoming years
Women s Casual
Lietdke s projection assumed that this business line was going to disappear by the end of 2007 this is
aligned with was its expected from Mercury management according to the facts stated in the case
(page 6). Given this information we can conclude that the Women s Casual as part of Mercury revenue
generator would disappear, therefore this projection seems reasonable if Mercury does not merge. If
merger happens this business line can be enhance by the synergies of both

The Aeneid By Virgil. Johan Sunesson
The Aeneid by Virgil
Johan Sunesson
The Aeneid, written around 20 BC is widely considered to be virgil s greatest work. The Aeneid is a
epic poem, following the adventures of the great Aeneas, as well as the central role he played in the
founding of the Roman State. The character of Aeneas had been a known legend long before the
Aeneid was composed, having been a character in the Iliad. Virgil took the myth of Aeneas and tied
him together with the founding of the Roman State.
Aeneas is both a hero of Rome and to Troy. He is the alleged son of Aphrodite and Anchises Aeneas
was there at the siege of Troy, helping the Trojans defend the city from the Greeks, along with his
cousin Hector. Some suggestions arose about how Aeneas in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Italy. But Jupiter intervenes and brings upon them a massive rainstorm, quenching the flames and
saving the Trojans.
Aeneas father comes to him in a vision and commands him to travel to the underworld, wherein he
receives yet another vision, this one anticipating the future of Aeneas and his people Carthage, and
that of the Roman state itself.
Our hero returns from the world of the dead, and yet again looks to his destiny and sets sail to Italy.
They arrive in the land of the Latins, Latium. Once again Aeneas finds himself with womanly
problems. He is courting the princess Lavinia, daughter of the king Latinus. Latinus does not approve,
and matters escalate into hostilities, and Aeneas finds himself looking for allies in an upcoming war
against the Latins.
He finds them in enemies of the Latins. Notably the Tuscans and the Arcadians agree to march with
the Trojan forces.
Battle ensues, with the Trojans, Tuscans and Arcadians finding the most victories across the land. In a
futile attempt to save the Latin people, Mezentius, a latin warrior, offers to face Aeneas in single
combat. He is beaten by Aeneas, but the Latins dishonor the agreement and keep on fighting the
Trojans.

Social Implications Of Business Ethics

Unit 37 Assignment 3
Social implications of business ethics
Introduction
In this assignment I have been asked to describe the social implications of business ethics facing a
selected business in its different areas of activity. I have then been asked to assess these social
implications of business ethics.
The business organisation I have chosen for this assignment is Boots .
Social implications (P3)
Social implication is a term used to describe the actions of a business that will have an impact on
society as a whole. These could be ethical practises or unethical practises.
There are many different social implications a business might have, these social implications are
highlighted by the way a business will chose to operate. The different social implications a business
might have are related to different areas or departments of activity within a business.
These different areas of activity are:
Ethics in finance
Ethics in production
Ethics in human resources management
Ethics in sales and marketing
Ethics in finance
Ethics in finance is a very important factor to consider when dealing with social implications. There
are lots of unethical behaviour within finance. The main aim for most business organisations is to
generate profit, if something stands in the way of this, a business may chose to use unethical practises
to get around the issue.
Ethics in finance can be broken down into different factors such as, bribery, payday loans, insider

Importance Of National Self-Determination In Africa
In African contexts, an emphasis was given to the fact that national self determination meant self
determination of the people against the colonial landlords. The nation didn t oppose so much another
nation as it did the colonial autocratic ruler (xxx, xxx). But what seems more important is the fact that
when the colonial power finally realized the need to prepare their colonies for self government, they
did so within the framework established by the colonial state (xxx, xxx). The colonial state thus
became equated not only with its physical attributes (territory and population) but also with its
bureaucracy, the nervous center from which stemmed ail decisions affecting the country (xxx, xxx).
National self determination also found its ultimate expression, not in continental Pan Africanism or
broader regional units, but in the states, Africans inherited from the colonial powers (xxx, xxx). The
first indications that pan Africanism had been overruled by the nationalism of individual states came
during the first assembly of African independent states held in Accra in 1958. It was then that Kwame
Nkrumah, who ironically until then had led the movement towards Pan Africanism, expressed the
need to respect the independence, the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the newly created
states in the interests of peace (xxx, xxx). When African states finally achieved their independence in
conformity with the United Nations General Assembly Resolutions interpreted as the

Cryptography is a method of storing and transmitting data in a particular form so that only those for
whom it is intended can read and process it. (Rouse, Definition: Cryptography, 2016)
It s meant for keeping secrets secret.
The objectives of Cryptography are as follows:
Confidentiality Ensuring that the information cannot be understood by anyone other than whom it was
intended.
Integrity Ensuring that the information cannot be altered in storage or in transit.
Non repudiation Where the creator or sender of information cannot later deny creation of the message

The Link Between Drama Based Reading Instruction And...
Introduction
Rao and Cartledge (2009) reported that minority and economically disadvantaged children have
difficulty in reading comprehension. Reading comprehension involves reading, decoding, making
connections to prior knowledge and thinking deeply about the text (Reading Rockets, 2015). Reading
comprehension is a skill that is used inside and outside of the classroom, which means it should be
effectively taught. Since this is an important skill that many children struggle with, I would like to
focus on assisting children with enhancing their reading comprehension skills. I would like to create a
program that focuses on building reading comprehension skills through the implementation of drama
techniques.
Research
Adomat (2012) conducted research on the connection between drama based reading instruction and
reading comprehension. Adomat (2012) provided small group reading instruction that utilized drama
techniques such as hotseating, role playing and tableaux. Hotseating involves a student or students
assuming the role of a character, and respond to questions by their classmates. This allows students to
analyze characters, infer, elaborate and think quickly on their feet. When students role play they are in
pairs and take turns playing different characters. Lastly, in tableaux after reading a book as a whole
group the students had to determine the most important parts and create visuals with their body. At the
end of the year, the students took a reading assessment,

Growth Of Monetary And India
GROWTH OF MONETARY AGGREGATES IN INDIA IN POST REFORM PERIOD (1990 91 to
2014 15)
Nandini Sud
ABSTRACT
Money supply plays a pivotal role in an economy in terms of affecting its prices, output, exchange
rate, etc. In a developing economy like India where development efforts are majorly made through
government expenditure, money supply in the economy tends to increase rapidly, which may cause
over expansion of money supply. Thus, there arises a need for comprehensive study of monetary
aggregates and their components to regulate money supply which provides a base for conducting
monetary policy in the economy. The present study is an attempt to analyze the growth in various
monetary aggregates and their components for India in the post reform period of 1990 91 to 2014 15.
INTRODUCTION Money supply is one of the most important macroeconomic variable in an
economy and plays a pivotal role in its economic growth and development. Along with being an
important determinant of price stability, money supply also asserts substantial influence on the
economy s output, employment, exchange rate, foreign trade, etc. In a developing economy like India,
most of the development activities are undertaken by incurring government expenditure (such as
enhancing infrastructure, providing quality education and healthcare, programs for agriculture and
MSME s, etc.) which causes a rapid increase in money supply and may also lead to its over expansion.
However, if the dual objective of economic

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Gps
INTRODUCTION
The Global Positioning System, commonly referred to as the GPS, is one of the greatest innovations
that truly revolutionized the way we function in the 21st century. It s a space based satellite navigation
system that uses 27 satellites and a wide range of networks of powerful computers used to send signals
down to earth. These signals carry a time code and geographical data point that allows the user to
pinpoint their exact position, speed and time anywhere on the planet. Centuries ago, explorers used
clues such as the position of the sun during the day as a means of navigating but these left explorers
helplessly lost.
2. THE ORIGIN OF THE GPS
The GPS is a very powerful tool that was originally invented by the United States Military as a means
of obtaining intelligence during the cold war in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The GPS technology is used widely in climate studies such as earthquake research and accurate daily
weather forecasts.
Corporate companies are using the GPS technology as a useful tool to monitor employee productivity
by keeping record of their clocking times , frequency and duration of lunch breaks.
Commercial airplanes and cargo ships have more accurate readings that help them avoid disasters and
ensures that they can be traced should they get lost at sea.
The commercialisation of the GPS technology has led to the development of hand held GPS
navigation devices that are used for recreational activities such as hiking and outdoor treasure hunting.
4.2 Disadvantages
One of the greatest disadvantage of the GPS technology is that it relies completely on receiving
satellite signals, so it s prone to radio interference and nuclear weapons.
Another issue is accuracy in terms of updating the navigation system, for example, drivers using the
GPS navigation technology can find themselves stuck in traffic due to blocked

Early Childhood Development In The United States

can affect our culture. In the article What Is Cultural Heritage? it states, Today, we find that heritage is
not only manifested through tangible forms such as artefacts, buildings or landscapes but also through
intangible forms. We get more than antiques from our ancestors we get our food, genetics, values,

blending of many cultures that feature many stable and different subcultures. Where a child grows up
and who her parents are will influence the cultural wisdom, or emphasis of certain values and skills,
that are passed to her. A lot of what my parents have taught me culturally is through food. My father
spent two years of his life in Switzer land and the South of France. My father has introduced a lot of
French culture into our home. On Christmas Eve, we eat shrimp scampy rather than chicken or turkey,
which is most common in the United States. On Sunday morning when we were little, our dad would
make us omelets. For dinner, we have learned to like crepes, raklet, and fondue. My mom grew up in
Idaho. Every meal has some form of potato and a side of salad; almost without fail. My parents raised
us in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. In our church, we have a set of guidelines called
the Word of Wisdom, which teaches us our bodies are sacred and we should watch what we put in
them. For example, we do not drink alcohol or addictive beverages. My parents and their cultures have
had momentous effects on my own culture. This however is not restricted just by foods. In positions
on contradicting beliefs, I often find my views to mirror the ones of my parents. As I grow older I do
not personally know to what extent my parents influence my culture and if my views will change or

traveled there to inspect mining claims in that region. The man s name was Charles E. Rushmore.
Rushmore was curious by one of the mountains and asked a towns person what the name of the
mountain was. The towns person replied saying it had no name. From then on Charles Rushmore
started calling it Rushmore Peak. Over time it became known as Mount Rushmore (history.com).
During the following years the area of the Black Hills decided they wanted to start attracting tourist
the region. I the early 1920s the state historian of South Dakota, Doane Robinson, came up with an
idea to attract tourist. He thought of the idea to to carve famous historic heroes of the west into the
side of the mountain (history.com). In 1924, Robinson decided to contact the famous American
sculptor, Gutzon Borgium, about his idea. Borgium at the time was working on another project for
Georgia, but Robinson was able to convince him to abandon his project and come
Before picture of Mount Rushmore to the Black Hills. When Borgium arrived in South Dakota he
suggested that they use George Washington and Abraham Lincoln because of their significance to
America. Later, he also decided to add Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt. Robinson and
Borgium both decided that the sculpture would be dedicated to these four men to recognize their
contributions to the birth of democracy and growth of the United States.

Alecia Beth Moore Research Paper
There are a lot of music composers who heighten emotions and feelings in their songs. Among all of
them one of my favorite singer named Alecia Beth Moore who born September 8, 1979, mostly
known by her stage name Pink (stylized as P!nk), is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. I
found most of her songs are full of emotions and inspiration. Probably her childhood and early life
influenced deeply her songs. Pink was second children of her parents. She did not have nice childhood
because of parent s divorce. This affected her mentally. I was never allowed to go over to any of my
friends houses when I was little, because I was the bad influence, she tells the Sunday Telegraph in
2007. She used to live with his father who was a Vietnam

Attending A Full Nude Production
Attending a full nude production often comes with guilty anticipation in American culture. Even the
most modest of attendees enter the space with bold boundary breaking, fuck rules on purpose kind of
swagger. In the case of Untitled Feminist Show this swagger is no match for counter cultural
performance that addresses naked truth of what public feminist space can be.
While some of the play is quite literally bottoms up, Untitled Feminist Show does not hold to typical a
bottom up model of community work which feminists are known for (Hyde 2005). Theatrical
performances by nature are public spaces, and use the public sphere as its arena to communicate
stories and messages to a greater community. Young Jean Lee uses theater in a unique way ... Show

However, does Ms. Lee have the power to remove patriarchy from a space? No I don t believe she can
or did, she does not wipe away the structure of male tyranny rather spotlights its fallibility. While
empowering and engaging patriarchy still ran the show so to speak. By being a production that
required payment and a physical ticket to enter uses economic hierarchy, an economic model male
driven and historically oppressive to women and those without disposable income. Referencing the
roots of community organizing and the work of Jane Addams, involvement of people ... focused on
issues related to adult education, community based planning and research, and social and political
action (Weil, Gamble, Williams 1998), should be at the center of organizing. Addressing Feminism in
a highly sophisticated and academically oriented way, does not draw in women seeking validation,
education, or solutions to issues faced by women, regardless of the topics present in the Play s content.
Furthermore, the irony of a male majority audience, speaks to the cultural acceptance of males
viewing female nudity, entitlement in entering public spaces, and the powerlessness and inability to
create an all female space . One male audience member commented, this play is answer to all that is
wrong with the vagina monologues and implied that this conclusion was

Summer Is Hot On The Heels Of Spring
Summer is hot on the heels of Spring in spite of the roller coaster weather pattern some of us seem to
be in right now. Trust me, before we know it we ll be complaining about the scorching heat and
oppressive humidity and wishing we could have just a day or two of those milder temperatures once in
a while. Anyway, with summertime comes the decidedly American tradition of cooking out. Cooking
out is one of my favorite Summer activities. What a great way to kill three birds with one stone. First
and most obvious we all need to eat, even though some of us (myself included) could stand to eat a
little less. So why not cook out? I don t know about you, but for me there s something almost magical
about eating food that s been cooked on a charcoal grill. It just seems to taste better. Maybe it s an
association thing like turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas, ham at Easter, cake on your birthday,
liquor on New Years Eve OK, maybe we shouldn t go there. For my wife there s magic in the idea of
her not having to cook. She s always up for letting me do the cooking! Let s move on, shall we?
Second, cooking out can help reduce energy consumption. Think about it. If you re cooking outside
you re not heating up the house with the range and/or oven going while simultaneously running the air
conditioner to cool the house down. That should make Al Gore and the Inconvenient Truth crowd
happy. On the other hand, they probably wouldn t appreciate the idea of burning charcoal

Fanaticism In Texas
The state of Texas is globally associated with images of the wild west and horseback riding cowboys
such as John Wayne. These thousands of classic western novels and films have shaped the world s

Texans do not travel by horseback to local convenience stores or go on long cattle drives. However,
the history of cowboys has been preserved over years and have significantly impacted Texas culture,
Texans take great pride in their history as well as their rights as American citizens. Americans are

The Case Of Salomin V Salomon Co Ltd.
Mr Lay is a separate legal entity under s.16 (2) Companies Act 2006. This is similar to the case of
Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd (1897) where Mr Salomon was held to be a separate legal identity from
the company. However, according to company law there are exceptions in which the court is willing to

fraud, improper or wrongful acts.
Mr Lay gambled away all of the company s assets and reserves which is a wrongdoing under s.361

Gene Flow In Full Genotypes
Gene flow is the process by which individuals (full genotype), and/or the genetic material they carry
(certain alleles of genes), move from one population to another and is an important source of genetic
variation, because it brings new alleles in the population. Gene flow can be subdivided in three
categories: (1) Migration: the movement of full genotypes (individuals) from one population to
another within the same species, which may be further integrated later by breeding, (2) Introgression:
the movement of genes from one species or strain to another through a process of successful mating

How Does Tim O Brien Use Mental Flashbacks In The Things...
Throughout 1964 to 1975 the Vietnam War was taking place on Korean soil in South Vietnam. Many
young soldiers were called to serve during the war including Tim O Brien. In the story The Things
They Carried, Tim O Brien illustrates realistic views by camouflages his past experiences of the
combat to expose the immorality of the war and the life cycle of an American soldier during this era.
As the story unfolds we see evidence of camouflage by O Brien as he creates a replica of a typical day
of a soldier s life with mental flashbacks. Unlike the soldiers, O Brien was engaged with his own pass
experience, from letters received from Martha as a mental coverup or pretense from the daily toil.

Stress is the combination of psychological, physiological, and behavioral reactions that people have in

energy or alertness they need. This type of stress is called eustress. Unfortunately, most stress does not
fall under that catagory and can become harmful when not managed effectively. This is known as

task in front of me and following a few simple rules for myself. By following these a student that
scored high on the stress test can do many things to lower their level of stress. First off, when dealing
with stress a student s physical well being and the attitude of that student need to be improved. To start
this, the student must think positive. Positive thinking not only decreases the stress level in the body,
but it also acts as a confidence builder. Making an effort to stop negative thoughts and think more

about a test, the student needs to focus on doing well instead. Secondly, you re encouraged to start an

Dylan represents how change can be violent by expressing it as a flood. Floods are known to be

Essay about Euthanasia is Our Right to Die
Euthanasia is Our Right to Die
By ruling euthanasia illegal, America s justice system is violating one of our most natural rights, our
freedom of choice. In all respects, the right to die is as natural as the right to live. Webster s dictionary
defines euthanasia as an easy and painless death or an act or method of causing death painlessly.
Euthanasia, when administered correctly and under the right conditions can be a humane and moral
procedure. There are so many misconceptions and cliches surrounding euthanasia today that it has

There are four key arguments, which also translate into philosophical concerns, associated with
euthanasia. The first is a person s right to decide about his or her own life. People take for granted the
life affecting choices they make on a daily basis, what career path to follow, when to marry, and when
to have children just to name a few. The decision of when to die, without legal intervention, should
also be considered as one of these natural rights. The second philosophical concern is that denying
terminally ill patients the natural right to die is unfair and cruel. This point goes hand in hand with the
subject of ordinary versus extraordinary treatment. A terminally ill patient has and will continue to
have the right to prolong their life by means of ordinary treatment such as medicines and surgeries that
do not involve excessive pain, expense, etc. When it becomes impossible for a person to continue
living by means of ordinary treatment they are next given the choice to sustain their life by means of
extraordinary treatment or they are given the option of refusing treatment. Many people choose the
latter option on the basis of extraordinary treatment being associated with methods deemed unusual,
difficult, dangerous, and expensive. The reality of refusal of treatment is a grim one. What can be
crueler than to let terminally ill

The success of Camp Bow Wow first and foremost provided a much needed service for pet owners.
Camp Bow Wow kept reinventing themselves. They kept up with future needs of pet owners and

Camp Bow Wow. In the video, it states women are quite advantageous to the company, not necessarily
single but those without children, women who love their pets and seem to treat their pets as their furry
children. According to the video, the owners and operators believed in their business, concept,

The Alamo is one of the most iconic historical events in America. Its known by everyone to be the
Symbol of American courage and self sacrifice, but many people do not know the events surrounding
the Alamo, such as how it was over 11 days long (Febuary 23 March 6, 1836), or even what conflicts
lead up to the inevitable battle between the Rebels and the Mexian loyalists. The story leading up to
the Battle of the Alamo is much like many other stories about rebellion. It starts with a leader making
bad decisions. That real battle starts before the start of the Texas Revolution, when the Mexican leader
President General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, began to shift away from a federalist style of
government, trying to start something akin to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the war raged on, many battles were fought, some swift and glorious, and even more long and
gruesome,The icon of these long and horrible battles was of course, The Alamo. The Alamo, originally
called Mission San Antonio de Valero , was originally a Spanish religious outpost that was converted
into a fort by the recently expelled Mexican Army. Sadly, though it was a fort, it was a sorry excuse of
one. It was designed to hold off attacks by native tribes, not an artillery equipped army. This design
made it incredibly hard to defend for troops from an age where artillery and guns ruled all, so a Texian
engineer named Green Jameson constructed catwalks along the walls to allow defenders to fire over
them. This method, though effective, also came at a cost. The position that the men had to take along
the walls left the riflemens upper bodies completely exposed. The garrison stationed there was
horribly undermanned and underprovisioned, with less than 100 men stationed at the fort by January
of 1836. Luckily though, there were a number if cannons left behind by the Mexican forces, which
Jameson installed along the walls. The defenders also had a large 18 pounder artillery cannon, which
Jameson installed in the southwest corner of the fort. These artillery cannons were a major advantage
for the Texian forces, so much so that Jameson boasted to the Texian Army commander

Soles4souls Non-Profit Organization
There are many charities all across the nation doing good and helping those less fortunate, but not all
charities actually do what they say they do. Not all charities are bad, some just get some criticism and
receive a bad reputation which will hurt the program extremely. If a charity gets bad rep, then people
who are normally willing to donate is a little more hesitant since there has been reports of them going
against their word. Soles4Souls is a non profit organization that began in 2006, distributing over 26
million pairs of shoes in over 127 different countries (Home Soles4Souls), but has received criticism
of selling their shoes for profit instead of giving them to the more unfortunate people in the world.

Gifted Hands Essay
Gifted Hands is an inspirational novel based around the life of Ben Carson, from his rugged
upbringing in inner city Detroit to his position as director of pediatric neurosurgery at John Hopkins
Hospital at age 33. The novel foregrounds Carson s struggle to defy all odds aided by his iron will,
tremendous faith, respect, meekness and an unconditional devotion to God.
Carson displayed great determination and dedication from a young age. He thrived to be ahead of his
studies and went the extra mile for the well being of his education. After I started pulling ahead in
school, the desire to be smarter grew stronger and stronger. Carson focused more on being the best he
could be rather than being top of the class. The desire to be smarter ... Show more content on

Throughout the auto biography Carson demonstrates an extraordinary amount of trust and faith in the
Lord. A pristine example of Carson s faith is portrayed before a major chemistry final. Although
Carson was unprepared, he laid the situation before God and was able to miraculously score well in
the exam. Carson lived a Christ oriented life and the blessings were endless. His faithfulness
demonstrated the power in living in such a way.
Carson was no ordinary man. His intricate way of thinking was like no other. One of the most obvious
and well known achievement is his concept of incorporating lasers in neurosurgery to nullify
complexities faced whilst operating. He knew there was an easier way and took the initiative to act
upon his ideas. Comparing Carson s accomplishments and initial circumstances serves as living proof
that anyone can be an influential figure in our society.
Carson s radiant demeanor shone throughout the course of his life. His pleasant behavior and respect
for others produced a very likable individual. Although there were countless incidents where Carson
could bad mouth white folk, he never resorted to racial prejudice and whole heartedly believed in
equality amongst everyone.
The problem with many of the intellectually talented is the mentality they withhold which
automatically grants them bragging rights. Carson on the other hand was a silent achiever, very
humble about his success

Carbon Nanotubes On The Delivery Of Pharmaceuticals
NANOTECHNOLOGY
Carbon nanotubes in the delivery of pharmaceuticals in medicine
Andrew Kim
Word count 995 without references and titles

The most clinically effective treatments for cancer were ironically incredibly detrimental to the human
body s health. These included, chemotherapy and radiation. These two methods did in fact destroy the
malignant cells yet also caused apoptosis in healthy cells damaging them beyond repair and thus
causing a great detriment to the patients health. However, recently, due to the endeavours of
nanotechnology, it has been discovered that carbon nanotubes can effectively carry anti cancer drugs
destroying the malignant cancer cells without damaging the healthy cells, in other words, the ... Show

Nanotechnology is the design, characterisation, production and application of structure, devices or
systems by controlled manipulation of size and shape at the nanoscale. (Nanomed, 2005) This should
produce a structure or device with at least one new or superior characteristic. The nanoscale is less
than 100nm. CNTs have shown a great deal of potential use as nano carriers for delivering anti cancer
drugs directly to the sight of action. However, CNTs must be functionalized, as pure CNTs are
difficult to incorporate into biological structures due to their insolubility and their tendency to bundle
up. There are two main ways to functionalize CNTs yet the best method is by oxidation leading to
carboxyl based couplings. The tube caps openings are created and holes in the side wall form by
process of oxidation involving strong acids. These carboxylic group allow covalent coupling with
other molecules by amide or ester bonds (see figure 2.1) as a result, CNTs can be conjugated with anti
cancer drugs. It is a benefit to functionalize CNTs as functionalized CNTs have been shown in many
studies to be able to cross cell membranes (Pantarotte et al.) this means that CNTs can now be used to
deliver anti cancer drugs into direct cells.
Now that CNTs can be used in biological structures, there are three methods of incorporating the drugs
to the CNT. These are by attachment of the drug to the outer surface; covalent or non covalent
bonding. Or, loading the CNTs

Immigration Reform For Immigrants
Immigration Reform for Immigrants with Kids That Are Citizens
It s the year 2016 and the country has changed a lot of rules within the last 10 years regarding
immigration. However, illegals with anchor babies are still being deported for small things such as not
paying a ticket. Immigration is not a topic that applies to everyone, but immigration has always been
an issue in the United States for instance, in the past, it was made a big deal when immigration levels
rose significantly and families started getting separated. This issue has been brought up again because
of this year s presidential election and comments the candidates have made regarding immigrants.
There are people who agree to creating a reform which are mostly democrats and younger ... Show

For example, a page in a blog titled Should the Government Allow Immigrants Who Are Here
Illegally to Become US Citizens? states that a reform would be beneficial to the economy because
many people would pay large amounts of money to become citizens. Another benefit is that families
can live in peace without the fear of being separated and losing everything they worked for. However,
they also believe that it was not right to have come into the country illegally so these immigrants
should be punished not rewarded for breaking the law. Overall, there are people who are for, against,
and indecisive about an immigration reform. Creating an immigration reform would be beneficial to
many people in many ways. One benefit would be that it would help the economy because many
people would file to get the documents and it wouldn t be a cheap document. Another benefit is that
families wouldn t get separated and they wouldn t live in the fear of never seeing each other

Critical Summary Safe Area Gorazde Essay
Abandonment and Neglect in Gorazde. In his Safe Area Gorazde Joe Sacco describes his experience
visiting a Muslim enclave during the Bosnian War of 1991 1995. Tragically, this work is based on
testimonies of residents of Gorazde, allegedly a UN protected area where Bosnian Muslims are able to
take refuge to avoid the ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the Serbian army. Gorazde is anything but
protected which Sacco demonstrates throughout the book by ridiculing the UN and the US who are
able to and responsible for protecting the residents of such enclaves, but instead turn a blind eye to
what was going on. ...the U.N. extended safe area status to other Bosnian enclaves, including Gorazde.
But the U.N. had yet to work out what the concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The personal nature of the story is communicated through the author s experiences and by the people
of Gorazde themselves. Taking abandonment as an example, we follow Sacco as he travels down the
blue road which Bosnian Muslims cannot escape their suffering, the very same road which the UN
shares with Serbian ethnic cleansers. Here we have the international abandonment of the enclave.
Relayed to us by the people of Gorazde, is their abandonment of one another based on ethnicity.
Slightly more subtle is Sacco s constant communication of the senselessness of the abandonment
faced by Bosnian Muslims. In nearly every panel there is a sense of tragic absurdity to the whole
situation. We are invited by Sacco to feel as though we are abandoning the characters when Sacco
waives his blue card and leaves the Gorazde for the first time. Sacco tersely and pointedly expresses
the sentiment with, ...catch ya later! (65). This is a phrase that may have come naturally to Sacco but
also could have been designed with the majority of his reading audience in mind. The third level of
abandonment, which is central and speaks to the Bosnian conflict itself, is the abandonment of
community. Throughout the first portion of the work, Sacco takes care to repeat and emphasize
neighbors as a motif. This motif hits its first shocking climax in The First Attack . Sacco depicts the
first armed attack on the civilian population of Gorazde as

The Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Redskins, Cleveland
The Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta
Braves are all professional sport teams in America that use Native American culture to represent them
through the means of tribe names, logos, and mascots. These teams have received a lot of media
attention around the debate on if the representation of Native Americans is offensive or not.
Controversy surrounding Native American mascots first came into the public eye during the 1960s
Native American Civil Rights movement, where the use of these mascots was criticized for being
insulting. However, the people who conceived these teams did not acknowledge the prejudice and
discrimination they were creating and grew the brands into multi million ... Show more content on

It s adding insult to injury. (ESPN) It is not an honor to be on the front of a jersey or the name of a big
league team it s a constant reminder of what one has gone through and how they will continue to be
under valued in society. The names used by professional sports teams are offensive and perpetuate a
blatant categorization of Native Americans that further Marginalizes them. Professional teams are the
highest level of sport and therefore set an example for the rest of the industry and Americans
themselves. By holding offensive names these teams are enabling a culture of racism in America that
people learn to idolize and thus overlook. Numerous Native American organizations including the
National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), United South and Eastern Tribes Inc. (USET), and
over 40 individual tribal governments across the country have spoken out about these professional
teams and the disrespect they generate. (Ending the Era) Redskins is a term defined in the dictionary
as a racial slur. It refers to the bloody scalps of Native Americans who were hunted and killed, then
sold for bounties. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently canceled several of the Washington
NFL team s trademark registrations because they were found disparaging to Native communities.

Melania Trump Case Study
During the one on one interview of Melania Trump that was hosted by Anderson Cooper; which aired
on CNN Anderson Cooper 360 October 17, 2016, was thought provoking. One reason being her
husband, Donald Trump has been openly critical of CNN s coverage, referring to it as Clinton News
Network . Many viewers were surprised that Melania decided to give CNN this interview so quickly
after her husband recorded tapes of him sexualizing women were leaked. The host and interviewer
Anderson Cooper is a television host, author and journalist. He is best known for being the primary
anchor of the CNN news show Anderson Cooper 360°. Melania Trump is a Slovene American former
model, and wife of Donald Trump.
The interview itself came off as somewhat uncomfortable and slightly hard to understand Melania at
times. What I initially noticed was that they were both sitting a good length away from each other.
Each of them sitting with shoulders pushed back and sitting straight while giving one another direct
eye contact. Melania has a thick accent, which can sometimes cause miscommunication with the ...

occasionally unfold his legs and use his hands when he started to ask another question. He did,
however, keep them above his knee, but below his collarbone, any higher he may have unintentionally
come off as agitated. This type of body language let me know he was either trying to get more
comfortable or he was adjusting himself into a different position because he was about to start a

Ols Regression Estimates That The Return Of Schooling
OLS regression estimates that the return to schooling is 9.06% for men and 10.62% for women. The
first stage results, reported in the second column of Table1, indicate that the RoSLA to 16 in the UK
increased the average number of years of education by 0.12 for men and 0.74 for women. Our second
stage IV shows that an additional year of education increases returns to the log of wages of 13.21%
and 22.39% for men and women respectively. Once again, our IV estimates are higher than OLS
which could be to a few reasons such as measurement error, causing OLS to suffer downward bias,
and LATE. In the case of both men and women there are many observable factors such as ability and
skills on the impact of the years of schooling which can also affect the individual s earnings.
Moreover, IV captures the average return of an extra year of education induced of the compliers
between the two reforms, while OLS captures average return across all people and all years. IV is thus
higher due to higher marginal return to education at relatively low education level.
Whilst I didn t run regressions for the effects of the first reform on women, previous literature has
shown that women typically had returns of around 8.3% (OLS) and 9.3% (IV) from the first reform
(Dearden, 1998). From my results, it is evident that women experience significantly greater returns to
education from the second reform than men did in both the first and second reforms. Men actually
experience a decline in the returns

The Social Network Essay The Dramatic Interpretation of the Social Network Myth After watching the movie The Social Network, the first thing I did was to search for Mark Zuckerberg s real life experiences to see which parts are facts and which are fictions. As a matter of fact, this Harvard genius that founded the world s first social network was not as childish as the movie portrayed. At least he didn t write programming for getting into elite Harvard Final Clubs or for retaliating his girlfriend. But it seems that he respects the ideas and decisions of the filmmakers, more or less, in terms of artistic creation. It was because he wanted to see how filmmakers would interpret his unimaginable story. This kind of art stresses the maze beyond art and the real world, which can only be seen through by smart people who also show respect to the artwork. • 12. Importance Of National Self-Determination In Africa In African contexts, an emphasis was given to the fact that national self determination meant self determination of the people against the colonial landlords. The nation didn t oppose so much another nation as it did the colonial autocratic ruler (xxx, xxx). But what seems more important is the fact that when the colonial power finally realized the need to prepare their colonies for self government, they did so within the framework established by the colonial state (xxx, xxx). The colonial state thus became equated not only with its physical attributes (territory and population) but also with its bureaucracy, the nervous center from which stemmed ail decisions affecting the country (xxx, xxx). National self determination also found its ultimate expression, not in continental Pan Africanism or broader regional units, but in the states, Africans inherited from the colonial powers (xxx, xxx). The first indications that pan Africanism had been overruled by the nationalism of individual states came during the first assembly of African independent states held in Accra in 1958. It was then that Kwame Nkrumah, who ironically until then had led the movement towards Pan Africanism, expressed the need to respect the independence, the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the newly created states in the interests of peace (xxx, xxx). Reading comprehension involves reading, decoding, making connections to prior knowledge and thinking deeply about the text (Reading Rockets, 2015). Reading comprehension is a skill that is used inside and outside of the classroom, which means it should be effectively taught. Since this is an important skill that many children struggle with, I would like to focus on assisting children with enhancing their reading comprehension skills. • 25. Summer Is Hot On The Heels Of Spring Summer is hot on the heels of Spring in spite of the roller coaster weather pattern some of us seem to be in right now. Trust me, before we know it we ll be complaining about the scorching heat and oppressive humidity and wishing we could have just a day or two of those milder temperatures once in a while. Anyway, with summertime comes the decidedly American tradition of cooking out. Cooking out is one of my favorite Summer activities. What a great way to kill three birds with one stone. First and most obvious we all need to eat, even though some of us (myself included) could stand to eat a little less. So why not cook out? I don t know about you, but for me there s something almost magical about eating food that s been cooked on a charcoal grill. It just seems to taste better. Maybe it s an association thing like turkey at Thanksgiving and Christmas, ham at Easter, cake on your birthday, liquor on New Years Eve OK, maybe we shouldn t go there. For my wife there s magic in the idea of her not having to cook. She s always up for letting me do the cooking! Let s move on, shall we? Second, cooking out can help reduce energy consumption. Think about it. If you re cooking outside you re not heating up the house with the range and/or oven going while simultaneously running the air conditioner to cool the house down. That should make Al Gore and the Inconvenient Truth crowd happy. On the other hand, they probably wouldn t appreciate the idea of burning charcoal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are four key arguments, which also translate into philosophical concerns, associated with euthanasia. The first is a person s right to decide about his or her own life. People take for granted the life affecting choices they make on a daily basis, what career path to follow, when to marry, and when to have children just to name a few. The decision of when to die, without legal intervention, should also be considered as one of these natural rights. The second philosophical concern is that denying terminally ill patients the natural right to die is unfair and cruel. This point goes hand in hand with the subject of ordinary versus extraordinary treatment. A terminally ill patient has and will continue to have the right to prolong their life by means of ordinary treatment such as medicines and surgeries that do not involve excessive pain, expense, etc. When it becomes impossible for a person to continue living by means of ordinary treatment they are next given the choice to sustain their life by means of extraordinary treatment or they are given the option of refusing treatment. The Alamo, originally called Mission San Antonio de Valero , was originally a Spanish religious outpost that was converted into a fort by the recently expelled Mexican Army. Sadly, though it was a fort, it was a sorry excuse of one. It was designed to hold off attacks by native tribes, not an artillery equipped army. This design made it incredibly hard to defend for troops from an age where artillery and guns ruled all, so a Texian engineer named Green Jameson constructed catwalks along the walls to allow defenders to fire over them. This method, though effective, also came at a cost. The position that the men had to take along the walls left the riflemens upper bodies completely exposed. The garrison stationed there was horribly undermanned and underprovisioned, with less than 100 men stationed at the fort by January of 1836. Luckily though, there were a number if cannons left behind by the Mexican forces, which Jameson installed along the walls. Nanotechnology is the design, characterisation, production and application of structure, devices or systems by controlled manipulation of size and shape at the nanoscale. (Nanomed, 2005) This should produce a structure or device with at least one new or superior characteristic. The nanoscale is less than 100nm. CNTs have shown a great deal of potential use as nano carriers for delivering anti cancer drugs directly to the sight of action. However, CNTs must be functionalized, as pure CNTs are difficult to incorporate into biological structures due to their insolubility and their tendency to bundle up. There are two main ways to functionalize CNTs yet the best method is by oxidation leading to carboxyl based couplings. The tube caps openings are created and holes in the side wall form by process of oxidation involving strong acids. These carboxylic group allow covalent coupling with other molecules by amide or ester bonds (see figure 2.1) as a result, CNTs can be conjugated with anti cancer drugs. It is a benefit to functionalize CNTs as functionalized CNTs have been shown in many studies to be able to cross cell membranes (Pantarotte et al.) this means that CNTs can now be used to deliver anti cancer drugs into direct cells. Now that CNTs can be used in biological structures, there are three methods of incorporating the drugs to the CNT. These are by attachment of the drug to the outer surface; covalent or non covalent bonding. Or, loading the CNTs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Immigration Reform For Immigrants Immigration Reform for Immigrants with Kids That Are Citizens It s the year 2016 and the country has changed a lot of rules within the last 10 years regarding immigration. However, illegals with anchor babies are still being deported for small things such as not paying a ticket. Immigration is not a topic that applies to everyone, but immigration has always been an issue in the United States for instance, in the past, it was made a big deal when immigration levels rose significantly and families started getting separated. This issue has been brought up again because of this year s presidential election and comments the candidates have made regarding immigrants. There are people who agree to creating a reform which are mostly democrats and younger ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, a page in a blog titled Should the Government Allow Immigrants Who Are Here Illegally to Become US Citizens? states that a reform would be beneficial to the economy because many people would pay large amounts of money to become citizens. Another benefit is that families can live in peace without the fear of being separated and losing everything they worked for. However, they also believe that it was not right to have come into the country illegally so these immigrants should be punished not rewarded for breaking the law. Overall, there are people who are for, against, and indecisive about an immigration reform. Creating an immigration reform would be beneficial to many people in many ways. One benefit would be that it would help the economy because many people would file to get the documents and it wouldn t be a cheap document. Another benefit is that families wouldn t get separated and they wouldn t live in the fear of never seeing each other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Critical Summary Safe Area Gorazde Essay Abandonment and Neglect in Gorazde. In his Safe Area Gorazde Joe Sacco describes his experience visiting a Muslim enclave during the Bosnian War of 1991 1995. Tragically, this work is based on testimonies of residents of Gorazde, allegedly a UN protected area where Bosnian Muslims are able to take refuge to avoid the ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the Serbian army. Gorazde is anything but protected which Sacco demonstrates throughout the book by ridiculing the UN and the US who are able to and responsible for protecting the residents of such enclaves, but instead turn a blind eye to what was going on. ...the U.N. extended safe area status to other Bosnian enclaves, including Gorazde. But the U.N. had yet to work out what the concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The personal nature of the story is communicated through the author s experiences and by the people of Gorazde themselves. Taking abandonment as an example, we follow Sacco as he travels down the blue road which Bosnian Muslims cannot escape their suffering, the very same road which the UN shares with Serbian ethnic cleansers. Here we have the international abandonment of the enclave. Relayed to us by the people of Gorazde, is their abandonment of one another based on ethnicity. Slightly more subtle is Sacco s constant communication of the senselessness of the abandonment faced by Bosnian Muslims. In nearly every panel there is a sense of tragic absurdity to the whole situation. We are invited by Sacco to feel as though we are abandoning the characters when Sacco waives his blue card and leaves the Gorazde for the first time. Sacco tersely and pointedly expresses the sentiment with, ...catch ya later! (65). This is a phrase that may have come naturally to Sacco but also could have been designed with the majority of his reading audience in mind. The third level of abandonment, which is central and speaks to the Bosnian conflict itself, is the abandonment of community. Throughout the first portion of the work, Sacco takes care to repeat and emphasize neighbors as a motif. This motif hits its first shocking climax in The First Attack . Sacco depicts the first armed attack on the civilian population of Gorazde as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. The Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Redskins, Cleveland The Chicago Blackhawks, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Chiefs, and Atlanta Braves are all professional sport teams in America that use Native American culture to represent them through the means of tribe names, logos, and mascots. These teams have received a lot of media attention around the debate on if the representation of Native Americans is offensive or not. Controversy surrounding Native American mascots first came into the public eye during the 1960s Native American Civil Rights movement, where the use of these mascots was criticized for being insulting. However, the people who conceived these teams did not acknowledge the prejudice and discrimination they were creating and grew the brands into multi million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It s adding insult to injury. (ESPN) It is not an honor to be on the front of a jersey or the name of a big league team it s a constant reminder of what one has gone through and how they will continue to be under valued in society. The names used by professional sports teams are offensive and perpetuate a blatant categorization of Native Americans that further Marginalizes them. Professional teams are the highest level of sport and therefore set an example for the rest of the industry and Americans themselves. By holding offensive names these teams are enabling a culture of racism in America that people learn to idolize and thus overlook. Numerous Native American organizations including the National Congress of American Indians (NCAI), United South and Eastern Tribes Inc. (USET), and over 40 individual tribal governments across the country have spoken out about these professional teams and the disrespect they generate. (Ending the Era) Redskins is a term defined in the dictionary as a racial slur. It refers to the bloody scalps of Native Americans who were hunted and killed, then sold for bounties. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office recently canceled several of the Washington NFL team s trademark registrations because they were found disparaging to Native communities. • 49. Melania Trump Case Study During the one on one interview of Melania Trump that was hosted by Anderson Cooper; which aired on CNN Anderson Cooper 360 October 17, 2016, was thought provoking. One reason being her husband, Donald Trump has been openly critical of CNN s coverage, referring to it as Clinton News Network . Many viewers were surprised that Melania decided to give CNN this interview so quickly after her husband recorded tapes of him sexualizing women were leaked. The host and interviewer Anderson Cooper is a television host, author and journalist. He is best known for being the primary anchor of the CNN news show Anderson Cooper 360°. Melania Trump is a Slovene American former model, and wife of Donald Trump. The interview itself came off as somewhat uncomfortable and slightly hard to understand Melania at times. What I initially noticed was that they were both sitting a good length away from each other. Each of them sitting with shoulders pushed back and sitting straight while giving one another direct eye contact. Melania has a thick accent, which can sometimes cause miscommunication with the ... He did, however, keep them above his knee, but below his collarbone, any higher he may have unintentionally come off as agitated. • 50. Ols Regression Estimates That The Return Of Schooling OLS regression estimates that the return to schooling is 9.06% for men and 10.62% for women. The first stage results, reported in the second column of Table1, indicate that the RoSLA to 16 in the UK increased the average number of years of education by 0.12 for men and 0.74 for women. Our second stage IV shows that an additional year of education increases returns to the log of wages of 13.21% and 22.39% for men and women respectively. Once again, our IV estimates are higher than OLS which could be to a few reasons such as measurement error, causing OLS to suffer downward bias, and LATE. In the case of both men and women there are many observable factors such as ability and skills on the impact of the years of schooling which can also affect the individual s earnings. Moreover, IV captures the average return of an extra year of education induced of the compliers between the two reforms, while OLS captures average return across all people and all years. IV is thus higher due to higher marginal return to education at relatively low education level. Whilst I didn t run regressions for the effects of the first reform on women, previous literature has shown that women typically had returns of around 8.3% (OLS) and 9.3% (IV) from the first reform (Dearden, 1998). From my results, it is evident that women experience significantly greater returns to education from the second reform than men did in both the first and second reforms. Men actually experience a decline in the returns ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
