Dissociative Disorders And The Most Controversial Disorders

Dissociative Disorders
Dissociative disorders are one of the most controversial disorders that exist. It is often argued that the
disorder does not actually exist and that people are over diagnosed. Dissociative disorders is a type of
psychological disorder that involve a sudden loss of memory of change in identity due to the
dissociation (separation) of the individual s conscious awareness from previous memories and
thoughts. A common example of a dissociation is when an individual daydreams and becomes
unaware of the passage of time. However, this is just a very mild case of dissociation and is normal to
experience. The NAMI (National Alliance on Medical Health) declares that approximately half of
Americans have experienced a dissociative episode in their life but only two percent of those cases are
severe enough to meet the full criteria of chronic episodes. This disorder is more often found in
women rather than men.
There are three main types of dissociative disorders along with a fourth type that is less often
categorized. The types of dissociative disorders are dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue,
dissociative identity disorder (DID), and depersonalization or derealization. Dissociative amnesia is
characterized by extreme memory loss that is caused by extensive psychological stress. Individuals
with dissociative amnesia can easily remember everyday tasks and procedural memories but they are
unable to remember their own identity and

Essay On I Would Like To Visit
I would like to go to Italy. Italy is located in southern Europe. Its capital is called Rome and it is one
of the oldest cities in the world. Italy is a beautiful country famous for its architecture and art. Many
artists lived and created there, for example Leonardo di Vinci and Michelangelo. It has a lot of
museums and art galleries. Italy is also famous for its delicious cuisine. Pizza and pasta are famous all
over the world. Italy has large vineyards and produces good quality wines. I also want to go there
because its weather is warm and the nature is really beautiful: mountains, plains, islands and azure sea.
My friends went there last summer for holidays and enjoyed it a lot.

5. Which is your favorite time of the day and why?
Which part of the day is your favorite one?
Why do you like this part of the day more than the others?
What are you usually doing then?
My favorite part of the day is late evening between 11pm and 1 am. It is time when everyone else at
my place is sleeping so the house is really quiet. Streets around are empty and one can hear the sounds
of nature. The weather after hot afternoon becomes nice and cool. I usually sit in my room with my
windows open and read a book or listen to the music. Sometimes I work with my laptop when there is
something important to do or I chat with my friends. I can also sit in the garden when it is not raining.
I go to sleep late, because I don t feel sleepy before midnight. And in the morning I wake up late.

Stereotypes In Black Robe
In the movie, Black Robe, there are many different stereotypes portrayed. The ones that seem to stick
out the most in the movie are the savage and noble savage stereotypes. During the movie, the
Algonquin Indians agree to help La Forque on his journey. In a beginning scene of Black Robe, a
priest appears and you notice that his ear is gone and half of his faced seems to be destroyed. It was
said that the Indians did it because they are uncivilized, leading me to conclude that this was an
example portraying the Indians as savages. During the journey, which is a very long and enduring one,
the Algonquin Indians discussed killing, overtaking and leaving the Black Robe. Which to me portrays
the stereotype of savage. In the end the Algonquin Indians

Reconstruction Vs Republican Reconstruction Essay
The Civil war came to an end in 1865 after the Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered to the
Union. The Civil War left a huge number of destructions along the way in the North and the South.
The North were required to reconstruct the Confederate States. And that caused the appearance of the
Reconstruction Era in 1865. It was a period in which Americans put the pieces together . People were
split after the Civil War, some wanted to reconstruct the Confederate states where it is politically and
economically damaged and the others wanted to have revenge against the South because they caused
the war that resulted with memories of death and suffer the Americans had to endure. And that was a
reason of the emerging of the Presidential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They believed in three things, first, they were mad at the South because they had caused the war.
Second, they wanted to punish them. Third, they wanted to help the slaves who are now considered as
freemen after the war ended. the Radical Republicans didn t like Andrew Johnson s plans, which are
almost mirrored his previous president Abraham Lincoln, they felt that he did not pay attention to the
major issue, which was the rights and protection for slaves, and because of that Andrew was
considered weak and was impeached in 1868. Even though he was considered a southerner and should
sympathize with the South except he was considered a racist for ignoring the blacks and consecrating
only about the white men.
The Presidential Reconstruction which was led by Andrew Johnson was considered harsh towards the
South. Johnson believed that African Americans doesn t deserve to vote, he thinks that they can t
manage their own life so they should stay slaves for white men. He believed that black men should
emigrate out of the states. Johnson returned all property to the Confederates who supported the 13th
amendment and pledged loyalty to the North States, but, he didn t return their slaves. Johnson vision
of Reconstruction was considered a fail because African Americans are still treated badly, and Black
Codes were established by white powerful rich men, which was designed to restrict the free

Christopher Mccandles s Applied Human Development In...
While reading Into the Wild several aspects of Christopher McCandles development and lived
experiences can be applied to the topics that were examined in Applied Child Development. In
particular, the themes of scarcity, parental involvement, distancing, and the culture of affluence are
extremely salient in discussing Christopher McCandles experiences.
Scarcity
Feinberg introduces scarcity as the concept of having an inadequate supply of a certain need that is
crucial to the development of the individual (Feingberg, 2015). For example, an individual can
experience scarcity in money, space, time, love or support, and housing which all have an effect over
time on their interactions with systems around them (APSY 418, 7/5.2017). Christopher experiences
scarcity both through his own choices and as a result of the relationship that he had with those around
him. For example, in his relationship with his father Christopher experiences a scarcity of affection
and nurturing that would have softened the impact of his father parenting style and demand for
perfection. This lack of emotional support, despite the presence of basic needs, cause Christopher to
develop a lack of attachment to his father and made it easier for him to break off from his family later
in his life. On the other hand, Christopher chooses to experience a scarcity of money, shelter, and other
basic necessities when he leaves civilization and tries to survive in the wilderness. the lack of human
interaction is

What Is The Role Of Corruption In Animal Farm
The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself ,
from H.L. Mencken. Animalism, in Animal Farm by George Orwell, promises everything you could
desire in a society: abundance in the things you need, equality, and less labor. Animal Farm is about a
farm on which the animals believe that they are not being treated fairly, so they all decide to revolt
against their farmer and create, what they think to be, a perfect society, called Animalism. Animalism
in the book drew parallels to socialism in the Soviet Union in the 1940s. Unfortunately, like the Soviet
Union, Animalism becomes corrupt because of tyrants at the top who lead the government, in this
case, pigs. Slowly, but surely the socialist like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They help the pigs succeed by not wanting to make their own decisions, promoting fear amongst the
animals driven by violence, and their willingness to do any dirty work requested by the pigs.
Ultimately, these choices have the largest effect in helping the pig s rise to power. Having been in a
corrupt country before, to see family, I see many parallels between the dogs and the military in African
countries. In Kenya, instead of the military working to enforce the laws, more often they work to
promote fear, in order to keep the corrupt government in place. For fear tactics, every time you see a
police officer they have a large gun strapped to the front of his or her chest. They sometimes ignore
people who are being robbed and take bribes from criminals who are trying to not get caught. From
Animal Farm, I have learned numerous lessons, but one of the most important is that a good society
needs checks and balances when it comes to the military. If they are not checks and balances in place,
there can be a pooling of power which results in corruption like what we see in Animal Farm.
Secondly, in order to be a good citizen in a Democratic Republic make the choice that you know is
right, instead of the most attractive choice, or else you can end up being part of the problem like the
dogs. All in all, try to make your set up your society in a way to avoid a pooling of power and try to
make it better every chance you get by making the decision that you know is

Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

Increasing pressures of cutting costs and improving the quality of care in health care services
influences the management of the health care organization to implement the generally accepted
accounting principles (GAAP) within their daily routines. Generally accepted accounting principles
(GAAP) are a set of uniform accounting guidelines health care organizations follow to determine the
financial position of an organization. According to Finkler, Kovner, and Jones (2007) the most
common and important GAAP are as follows: (a) Entity concept, (b) Going concern concept, (c)
Matching principle and cash versus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the materiality principle assists the professional judgment of a manager with these
challenges on deciphering whether or not to deem an item as material. Usually if an item has an
impact on the income, or affects the decision making of the professional using the financial statement,
the item is material. Another GAAP is the full disclosure principle. This principle states that it is
imperative to include all information in a financial statement of an entity that would affect the reader s
understanding of the statements. This principle also includes the reporting of any current accounting
policies as well as any changes of them. The last GAAP is the consistency principle. The consistency
principle suggests that once an organization agrees upon the utilization of an accounting principle or
method, they should consistently use the same method for future fiscal years. This will provide a more
accurate comparison for the individuals dealing with the massive amounts of numbers and transactions
each fiscal year. In conclusion, a health care organization s primary focus may be to provide quality
care services; however the financial wellbeing and viability is critical to meet that focus. A substantial
portion of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) applies specifically to
reporting entities that are involved in the business of healthcare. Therefore, the generally accepted
accounting principles were developed as a set of

Session 15: Limitation of Ratio Analysis Learning Objective Explain to the participants on the
limitation of ratio analysis. Important Termss Creative accounting. Accounting Policies. Limitations of
Ratios Accounting Information Different Accounting Policies The choices of accounting policies may
distort inter company comparisons. Example IAS 16 allows valuation of assets to be based on either
revalued amount or at depreciated historical cost. The business may opt not to revalue its asset
because by doing so the depreciation charge is going to be high and will result in lower profit.
Creative accounting The businesses apply creative accounting in trying to show the better financial
performance or position which can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is likely to be done in a sensitive period, perhaps when the business s profits are low. Changes in
Accounting standard Accounting standards offers standard ways of recognising, measuring and
presenting financial transactions. Any change in standards will affect the reporting of an enterprise and
its comparison of results over a number of years. Impact of seasons on trading As stated above, the
financial statements are based on year end results which may not be true reflection of results year
round. Businesses which are affected by seasons can choose the best time to produce financial
statements so as to show better results. For example, a tobacco growing company will be able to show
good results if accounts are produced in the selling season. This time the business will have good
inventory levels, receivables and bank balances will be at its highest. While as in planting seasons the
company will have a lot of liabilities through the purchase of farm inputs, low cash balances and even
nil receivables. Inter firm comparison Different financial and business risk profile No two companies
are the same, even when they are competitors in the same industry or market. Using ratios to compare
one company with another could provide misleading information. Businesses may be within the same
industry but having different financial and business risk. One company may be able to obtain bank
loans at reduced rates and may show high gearing

Pennsylvania Walking Purchase Analysis
In the Pennsylvania Walking Purchase the Penns acquired the land to pursue peace among the settlers
and the Native Americans and ultimately profit for themselves. Penn was willed the land by his father,
Sir William Penn, before he died. However, the land was never surveyed or officially placed in
William Penns name so it became chaos for him and his heirs. Penn had ideas on how he wanted to
govern the land but ran into issues along the way. When Penns sons received the land, they were
already cash poor causing them to cheat and to steal what was not theirs. Penns sons hired men to
cover the distance of the land so they could get clear title for it. With a clear title, Thomas and James
could sell off the land however they deemed fit. Whereas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though the land was given to Sir William Penn by Charles II, it was never recorded or measured
off. This presented a problem for William Penn, Native Americans and his sons. In this era the land
would have been measured by how far a man could walk in day and a half (Graham 288). Penns son
Thomas had other plans for the land that his father would have frowned upon. So he hired sprinters to
come in and walk the distance of the land but desiring more land than what was already agreed upon,
he cheated the Lenape. Thomas was so obsessed with money he could make off the land that he got
the Pennsylvanians to run the Indians off the land. The Lenape because of this became bitter and hurt
which eventually shattered the tribe. The final outcome for the Pennsylvania Walking Purchase
changed the course of history. William Penn s vision of a city that was ruled by good faith and a
seventh century Quakerism failed to exist. During the building process the Native Americans felt like
Penn s promise to them was broken and they cut ties with him. His vision of the city was hoped to
bring peace among the people. So he named it Philadelphia, which meant the city of Brotherly

Marijuana Essay
Marijuana
The third largest agricultural good in the nation and a ten billion dollar industry has nothing to do with
the agriculture we are use to. This good is Marijuana, an illegal drug. It is the most widely used illicit
drug in America n(Gold v). In Florida alone, marijuana sales are greater than all businesses except
tourism (Gold v). What is marijuana? Marijuana, a plant, known as Cannabis Sativa, labeled that by
Carolus Linnaeus in 1753 (Grinspoon 1), is one of nature s hardiest specimens (Abel ix). It can
survive in any climatic condition possible, and flourishes like weeds do. Marijuana acts like a weed,

From smoking marijuana, an euphoric sense is produced. This os the high that draws people to smoke
marijuana. They fall into a languid state, and time slows down for them. The psychoactive compound
that creates this euphoric sense is delta 9 THC. Marijuana s potency varies. In the female plants
flowers is the greater concentration of cannabinoids, related compounds to delta 9 THC (Abel 5).
Sinsemilla, a seedless version of marijuana, that has been cultivated in recent years, has much higher
concentrations of THC throughout the plant (Abel 5). The amount of THC that is present depends on
the conditions the plant is raised in (Gold 261). Cannabis that is grown in temperate climates contains
little delta 9 THC and a high concentration of cannabidiol. Cannabis grown in hot climates has a
greater delta 9 THC concentration and barely any cannabidiol. It is these plants that are grown in the
hotter climates that are cultivated for their psychoactive effects. Marijuana contains almost 30% THC;
however, 50% of that is destroyed when it is burned, such as when it is smoked (Gold261). The
smallest amount of THC that produces a high is 5 mg, but since 50% is destroyed, it is really 2.5 mg
(Gold 262). The effects, of marijuana, can be felt in five to fifteen minutes, and the maximum effects
are felt in sixty minutes.
Marijuana, when smoked, creates a hallucinating effect. Its psychological effects are: excitement and

Child Labor Rights
Mother Jones, Cesar Chavez, and Malala Yousafzai all fought for the rights that they believed in. They
all were leaders part of a big picture. Although these three individuals used different methods to get
their point across, they all had courage to speak out about injustice and improve human rights. Mother
Jones was a lady who stood up for all of the children who were mistreated because of child labor.
When trying to get her point out, Mother Jones went to newspapers for public articles on what was
happening to these working children. Unfortunately, the factories owned the newspapers so they
wouldn t publish her position on the subject, so she made her own form of publicity by forming a
march of children and parents. (Josephson). She was an activist for the abolishment of child labor.
Mother Jones had a lot of courage to speak out even though not a lot of people listened. After publicly
marching to Sagamore Hills, Judith Pinkerton Josephson states, Within a few years, Pennsylvania,
New York, New Jersey, and other states did pass tougher child labor laws. The federal government
finally passed a child labor law (part of the Fair Labor Standards Act) in 1938 thirty five years after
the march of the mill children. Mother Jones was persistent on getting her message out in public
because so many people were clueless on what was happening to the children. She would most

Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment
God Answers the Questions Presented by Dostoevsky s The Brothers Karamazov and Crime and
Punishment
In Dostoevsky s novels pain and some heavy burden of the inevitability of human suffering and
helplessness form Russia. And he depicts it not with white gloves on, nor through the blisters of the
peasant, but through people who are close to him and his realities: city people who either have faith,
or secular humanists who are so remote from reality that even when they love humanity they despise
humans because of their own inability to achieve or to create paradise on earth. His novels The
Brothers Karamazov and Crime and Punishment are best examples of the poisonous effect of such
ideals on the common man. The rebellion of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is not the love that is directed towards the humanity as a whole, but towards the individual: Strive
to love your neighbor actively and indefatigably (II, 4). For Dostoevsky such love is a false one and he
presents it through such characters as Rakitin, Perkhotin and even Luzhin:
Consciousness of life is superior to life, knowledge of the laws of happiness is superior to happiness
that is what we must fight against. (The Dream of a Ridiculous Man , p. 382)
One of greatest evils for Dostoevsky are the so called liberals who love humanity more than an
individual man. Yet he does not represent their behavior as genuinely evil . Their hate towards
humanity arises exactly from the opposite: love. Secular humanists see so much evil, crime and
inhumanity, they cannot stop it so they rebel. Ivan Karamazov and his rebellion are purely of that
kind. He is not vile, he just cannot understand that there might be a solution for such suffering,
especially in the case of children who are innocent in Christianity. That is why Ivan asks:
Love life more than the meaning of it? (II, 3)
Ivan as any average intellectual, wants to know. To know the meaning of life for him is more
important than to actually do something about the human suffering. Ivan forgets that one human life is
as important as the entire humanity. For him humanity is merely an abstraction which happen to be
surrounding him.

Roof Shingles Case Study
Back in 1989 when I installed my first asphalt shingle there was many changes in the roofing

The Reasons for the Rise of the Nazi Dictatorship Essay
The reasons for the rise of the Nazi Dictatorship of the 1930 s and 40 s have been a topic much
debated upon by historians for decades. Arguably the most prominent theory is the idea of a
Sonderweg or special path taken by Germany that deviates from the normal path to modernity... the
British way, the first and therefore classical model. There is ample evidence of a Sonderweg
throughout Wilhelmine/Bismarckian Germany, from the lack of a real democracy in 1871 to attempts
to repress threats through policies such as Kulturkampf and the anti Socialist laws. There is also
evidence in Weimar Germany, such as the structural weaknesses of the constitution, for example
proportional representation and Article 48. There is, however, evidence ... Show more content on

Another sign of a Sonderweg in Germany during Bismarck s reign was his attempts to repress threats
through force. Bismarck always held that the best foundation for an alliance was to have a common
enemy. This was illustrated in his Kulturkampf policies in which he attempted to appeal to the
Protestant population in the German Empire which made up 61% of the populous by restricting and
persecuting the Catholic population. For example, in 1872, religious schools were forced to undergo
official inspections carried out by the government and religious teachers were banned from
government schools. Then in May 1873 when the May Laws were enacted, nearly half of all
seminaries in Prussia closed as a result. Bismarck s failed attempts to suppress the threat of the
socialists through use of the anti Socialist laws was another sign of a special German path. The laws
did not ban the SPD directly but instead aimed to cripple it, so that it was no longer a threat, through
various means. Groups meeting who aimed to spread social democrat principles were banned and
trade unions were outlawed. Bismarck also introduced old age pensions, accident and unemployment
insurance and medical care in an attempt to win the support of the working class and keep them
content with the current regime. Despite these attempts to cripple the socialists, the party continued to
gain popular support.
During Bismarck s reign, there were attempts made by him to distract

can cause serious information security and data privacy issues causing severe repercussions on users

file system. While some of these require user authentication, a combination of cross site scripting and
social engineering could bring the attacker a long way (Acunetix). An attacker can take advantage of
many different types of cross site scripting. These include persistent cross site scripting, reflected
cross site scripting, and DOM based cross site scripting. An attacker can use a combination of the
three as well (server/client cross site scripting) (Acunetix). With persistent cross site scripting attacks,
the malicious code is submitted to a website where it s stored for a certain period of time. The user is

Mary Tyler Moore Show. Television shows were popular at this time in the 21st century, as was the
oversexualization of female sex symbols in the shows. At a time of progressivism in America, and at a
height in the feminist and women s liberalism movements, the presence of female lead characters in
the show was important, but their portrayal as TV sex symbol women ultimately made their presence
harmful to the movements. The TV s sex symbols attracted viewers, but the dynamics of the television
show ultimately strengthened the belief that men and women aren t equal. This was actually harmful
in the feminist development of those that viewed these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at the list of most admired women, one sees names like Hillary Clinton, Oprah Winfrey,
Michelle Obama, and Ellen DeGeneres. This role modeling is usually positive, as it inspires women to
not back down and reach their God given potential. Prior to television shows like the Mary Tyler
Moore Show or Wonder Woman, there weren t shows with female characters in prominent positions.
Sitcoms like these allow women to see examples of their potential and strive to be anything they want
to be. For example, prior to Wonder Woman, little girls watching superhero shows only saw male
superheroes. At a time of early development, these girls were led to believe that they couldn t be
superheroes because there were no woman superheroes. Seeing women in positions of leadership in
the news world, as superheroes, or in modern day running for the presidency, indicates to women that
they can be anything they want to be. This is an important principle of feminism, that is aided through

Persuasive Speech About Sex Education
Did you know that 24 states in the US require their public schools to teach sex education and HIV
education to their students (NCL.org)? Do they even need to understand sex or STDs? Well of course
not. That s why schools should not even teach these students sex because it s just going to be too much
for the high school students young mind, sex education will definitely motivate the students to have
sex regardless of their sexuality , and it s up to their not so busy parents to explain sex and all its glory
to their children who are attending high school.
First off, why would you want to teach high school students about sex if you know it s going to be too
much for their young, innocent minds? Let s face it, once when the teacher begins to talk about the
males baby maker and the females foo foo the students are going to start laughing, or getting very
uncomfortable. Very mature children, won t you say? Of course, the teachers are not going to call it
baby maker or foo foo they re going to say the correct terms. Furthermore, sex education will most
likely have to touch on the more sensitive topics like sexual harassment, or prostitution. Students
having to hear about innocent people being raped is already crossing the line, and learning that women
and maybe men are willing to have sex just to gain money. Might as well drop the class, or start
skipping it.
If for some reason the students are able to handle the lessons of sex, then that means they re going to
be motivated to want to have sex with each other regardless their sexuality. Evidently this class is
going to motivate them, the students, to have sex, and the students are not going to give a flip about
the results. They re going to eventually learn that sex can be a pleasurable action as explained in both
stage three and five of Sigmund Freud s psychosexual development theory. Stage three, which is the
phallic stage, states that around the age of three to five years old, the child will seek for pleasure that
is centered on masturbation and/or oral sex. Furthermore, stage five of the theory, which is the genital
stage, states that around the age of 12 through adulthood centers on the seeking for sexual pleasuring
through romantic

Heroes come from all sorts of places: movies, books, and even everyday life. Jen, a Gelfling, is a hero

and evil, and love. This composition shall trace Jen s quest as well as evaluate his success in that
quest, his individual self, and finally he shall be compared to one of the Greek heroes. Jen s quest can

small and could easily be harmed. He is also very unsure of himself at many times. At the start of his
quest, Jen is still with the Mystics. His master, the eldest, had just told him of his journey and soon
after passed away. Jen must first find Ogra and obtain the missing shard to complete the dark crystal.
At Ogra s awful monsters sent by the Skeksis try and kill Jen and they destroy Ogra s home in the
process. Ogra is captured and taken to the Skeksis. Meanwhile, having escaped, Jen finds himself in a
strange forest where he meets Kara. Both had thought themselves the last of their kind, and soon form
a strong bond. Kara takes Jen to her adopted family, the podlings. It is here that the Skeksis monsters

life energy and turn them into slaves. During all of this, the eldest Skeksis leader has passed away and
his leadership was won by one of the remaining Skeksis. Chamberlain, a horrid scoundrel, had tried in

United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund Essay
Food and Nutrition
Mary Carnahan
HA 304: Global Health Care Systems
November 8, 2016
Introduction In this paper I m going explore United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund
(UNICEF) and what they do to provide food and nutrition to people in developing countries. Also in
this paper I will be exploring Community food banks and what they do to provide food and nutrition
to people in need in the U.S. There is a statement in our text that obesity results from over nutrition. Is
this always true? Is it possible to be obese and lack adequate nutrition? Which foods contribute most
to obesity? How nutritious are those foods?
United Nations International Children s Emergency Fund (UNICEF)
What they do to provide food and nutrition to people in developing countries UNICEF was created in
1946 to provide relief to children in countries devastated by World War II. After 1950 the fund
directed its efforts toward general programs for the improvement of children s welfare, particularly in
less developed countries and in various emergency situations. The organization s broader mission was
reflected in the name it adopted in 1953, the United Nations Children s Fund. UNICEF was awarded
the Nobel Prize for Peace in 1965. UNICEF does whatever it takes to save and protect the world s
most vulnerable children. Forty years ago, UNICEF figured out that promoting simple, low cost
interventions like hand washing and breastfeeding could save millions of lives.

The Bloody Chamber Analysis
The gothic genre is a style of writing that is characterized by components of horror, disquietude, death
and romance. There are many conventions to the gothic genre which indulges details on gothic
architecture, spirituality and lucid descriptions in the first person along with dialogues. It is widely
accepted that both the novella, Carmilla and the short stories from The Bloody Chamber include these
aspects of gothic literature. Patriarchal dominance is often defined as a system of male domination and
in gothic fiction it is traditional for the male to in fact save the weak and fragile female out of danger;
further dominating his role. Although Carmilla was written during the Victorian Era, one would aspect
a male dominated patriarchal system to be followed, but Le Fanu doesn t succumb to the traditional
but in fact subverts it by casting the villain as female who preys on young and vulnerable women
ultimately for power. However, where Carmilla does indeed follow the traditional gothic horror
narrative where the victims are always presented as succumbing to a temptation that inevitably, has
metaphysical consequences; in Carmilla the victims die from an unknown malady. The Bloody
Chamber reviews on how unimpeachable fairy tales encompass strong socio political undertones such
as gender roles and presents the nameless heroine as woman whom is capable of changing her fate,
whereby she doesn t die like the other wives. Similarly, in Carmilla it can also be

Homeschooling Is Bad
Why Homeschooling is Not Doing Children Justice
Homeschooling is an option for your child if you do not want them in public or private schooling.
Today s society of parents will make that choice for the child, wither the child wants to or not. Many
parents think that public schools are not educating their child enough so they resort to homeschooling.
This would mean devoting your time as a parent by helping support them in learning and to make sure
they will succeed with their education.
The problem today is that many parents will work with their child for about a month and all of a
sudden have no more time to educate them. In the beginning it is your family s motivation and you
want to make them proud, so you try your hardest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

College Is The Most Challenging Thing
Facing college is one of the most challenging thing that one has to deal with. Whether they deiced to
go, the different choices for college varies. Many ask themselves if they want to go to a larger school
or consider student life. One of the harder choice that one has to make about college is deciding if they
want to dorm or commute to class. I believe that dorming in college is essential to growing in oneself.
Dorming provides the sense of familiarity to everyone, the convivence of getting to class, and also
being independent.
College is a learning experience that everyone takes in differently. One of the aspects that help one
grow as a person would be the friends you make. It is much easier to make friends if you were
dorming because you are here majority of your time. I have made plenty of friends within my first
four weeks of school. Most of them were fellow classmates and a few through dorming in the same
building. Dorming is much more convenient to get to class if one does decide to dorm. Myself as an
example, I have the comfort of getting to class within a five minute walk. I like being on top of my
things such as getting to class at least five minutes early and starting my homework early. This gives
me the feeling that I would be more prepared for whatever happens. Living on campus could also give
the student the opportunity to learn how to be independent. Knowing that mom is going to do it
mentality goes away as one learns that its his or hers responsibility

Disadvantages Of A Semi Structured Interview
Section 1: Methodological Considerations Question 1 One advantage of a semi structured interview is
that in the case of participants who tend to answer questions briefly, the interviewer can ask more
open ended questions and cater the structure of the interview for the participant. The interviewer has a
choice of which order to ask the questions in and how to ask them. For instance, in the transcript for
the interview, the interviewer is being provided with one sentence yes/no replies in the beginning.
Then, a few questions later, the interviewer asks a more detailed question that asks the participant how
they manage their diabetes and who helps them. This prompts a more detailed response from the
participant, who has now been asked to speak more freely about their experience with diabetes.
Furthermore, for semi structured interviews, the interviewers can follow what the participants are
saying and modify their questions accordingly. The interviewer can be prompted by something the
participant has said, and explore that prompt further in their proceeding questions. For example, when
the respondent states that they do their own finger prick blood test, the interviewer then explores that
deeper by asking follow up questions such as what equipment the participant uses and the difference
in their own materials versus the hospital s. Furthermore, in a semi structured interview, the
participant might bring up interesting points the interviewer had not come across in their

Brideshead Revisited Essay
There is a snake in Eden; corruption in paradise. To what extent do you agree that the Brideshead
estate embodies a corrupted paradise in the novel? June 2010 Within the context of pastoral literature,
change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic with the movement away from a harmony with
the natural world towards modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisited the same pattern
appears to be followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in Oxford
into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social classes, from the nobility
to the lower classes. However, change is not exclusively a negative force in the novel.
The title of book one Et in Arcadia Ego suggests ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Waugh describes their first encounter with the girls at May Mayfield s as a sickly child and Death s
Head , names foreshadowing the downfall and deterioration that will result. It is as a result of this
night that Sebastian is arrested and tried for drunk driving, and introduces them to the realities of adult
life. It is because of this episode that the Marchmain family are shamed in the newspaper, perhaps
worsening Lady Marchmains over reaction to Sebastian s drinking later in the novel. This illustrates
clearly how even in these youthful days that Charles cherishes so much, there was chaos which
corrupted the serene life with Sebastian which he chooses not to dwell on.
Waugh presents corruption in terms of the hierarchy of society, with the nobility exclusively
privileged to positions of power, as nought but as negative through his portrayal of Hooper. Charles
states in the prologue that Hooper is a symbol to me of Young Britain ; notably Hooper is not
presented as an overly inspiring, promising or likeable character. The use of young has connotations of
the working class were just coming of age and beginning to have the means to hold positions of power
and influence, as well as suggesting a major change in the Britain; an old way of life has been left to
be replaced by a new one. It could be argued that Charles is presenting the traditional world as being
corrupted with the changing, modernised world.

How Does Twain Use Irony In Huck Finn
After abandoning a wrecked ship and leaving a gang of murderers stranded, Huck thinks back on what
he has done, and how he feels wrong. Mark Twain criticizes the way people think about others only
after they have taken care of themselves. Only after saving himself and making sure he was ok, does
Huck begin to take others well being into consideration. Mark Twain shows the irony in this as Huck
went to great lengths to put the gang of criminals in the position they were in, only to feel pity for
them afterwards. This has always been apart of human behavior, and Twain sets out to satirize this
innate quality in people through the use of irony. By using the phrase, even for murderers Twain
shows that people are able to feel pity and remorse for anyone, yet, it is often too late when people
realize what they have done. This is one of Twain s more subtle critiques in the way society functions,
yet it is still an important critique. Instead of think of other people after the fact, Twain ... Show more

In order to justify it, Huck merely brushes off what he did, blaming it on the way he was brought up.
Twain criticizes another form of mob mentality through this quote, in that people often believe that
they cannot change themselves due to the way in which they were raised. Many people from the time
period would often stay in the same class as they were born into, simply just accepting the fact that
they could do nothing about it. While huck may seem serious about what he is saying in the book,
Twain s approach to the situation seems to be sarcastic, as he criticises how society does not challenge
how things are. Instead, the status quo seem to simply accept where they are in life and just live.
Twain tries to satirize and bring attention to the problem of acceptance within social status, and thus,
reveal that any person can take their life into their own hands if they truly want

During the 1950s,the European steel market, steel production and import unrelentingly augmented.
This created surplus provisions on the promotion of the Six. Due to this, there was deterioration of the
market together with its selling value. This drop continued as a result of antagonism from inexpensive

The Problem Of Blossoms Service Quality

1. Introduction
Blossoms Garden Centre is a gardening business which was established in the mid 1960 s in Glasgow
and expanded with diversified products and services after 1990 (PMM, 2015). Due to the revival of
gardening as a key feature after the Second World War in the UK, a great reputation had obtained by
its knowledgeable staff, wide range of the plants and minor competition in the local market at the
beginning. Numerous larger chains emerged with diverse facilities and products followed by the
market changes in order to gather benefits. For the sake of survival, Sales, Cafeteria, and the Hire

some problems have arisen as a result of the falling profit from £507,579(2013) to £386,952(2014) in
the process of its development. Based on the feedback of the customer and the staff, the main problem

  • 2. Dissociative Disorders And The Most Controversial Disorders Mai Nguyen PSYC 1 Dec. 11, 2015 Dissociative Disorders Dissociative disorders are one of the most controversial disorders that exist. It is often argued that the disorder does not actually exist and that people are over diagnosed. Dissociative disorders is a type of psychological disorder that involve a sudden loss of memory of change in identity due to the dissociation (separation) of the individual s conscious awareness from previous memories and thoughts. A common example of a dissociation is when an individual daydreams and becomes unaware of the passage of time. However, this is just a very mild case of dissociation and is normal to experience. The NAMI (National Alliance on Medical Health) declares that approximately half of Americans have experienced a dissociative episode in their life but only two percent of those cases are severe enough to meet the full criteria of chronic episodes. This disorder is more often found in women rather than men. There are three main types of dissociative disorders along with a fourth type that is less often categorized. The types of dissociative disorders are dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, dissociative identity disorder (DID), and depersonalization or derealization. Dissociative amnesia is characterized by extreme memory loss that is caused by extensive psychological stress. Individuals with dissociative amnesia can easily remember everyday tasks and procedural memories but they are unable to remember their own identity and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The ones that seem to stick out the most in the movie are the savage and noble savage stereotypes. During the movie, the Algonquin Indians agree to help La Forque on his journey. In a beginning scene of Black Robe, a priest appears and you notice that his ear is gone and half of his faced seems to be destroyed. It was said that the Indians did it because they are uncivilized, leading me to conclude that this was an example portraying the Indians as savages. The Civil War left a huge number of destructions along the way in the North and the South. The North were required to reconstruct the Confederate States. And that caused the appearance of the Reconstruction Era in 1865. It was a period in which Americans put the pieces together . People were split after the Civil War, some wanted to reconstruct the Confederate states where it is politically and economically damaged and the others wanted to have revenge against the South because they caused the war that resulted with memories of death and suffer the Americans had to endure. Third, they wanted to help the slaves who are now considered as freemen after the war ended. the Radical Republicans didn t like Andrew Johnson s plans, which are almost mirrored his previous president Abraham Lincoln, they felt that he did not pay attention to the major issue, which was the rights and protection for slaves, and because of that Andrew was considered weak and was impeached in 1868. Even though he was considered a southerner and should sympathize with the South except he was considered a racist for ignoring the blacks and consecrating only about the white men. The Presidential Reconstruction which was led by Andrew Johnson was considered harsh towards the South. Johnson believed that African Americans doesn t deserve to vote, he thinks that they can t manage their own life so they should stay slaves for white men. He believed that black men should emigrate out of the states. Johnson returned all property to the Confederates who supported the 13th amendment and pledged loyalty to the North States, but, he didn t return their slaves. • 6. Christopher Mccandles s Applied Human Development In... While reading Into the Wild several aspects of Christopher McCandles development and lived experiences can be applied to the topics that were examined in Applied Child Development. In particular, the themes of scarcity, parental involvement, distancing, and the culture of affluence are extremely salient in discussing Christopher McCandles experiences. Scarcity Feinberg introduces scarcity as the concept of having an inadequate supply of a certain need that is crucial to the development of the individual (Feingberg, 2015). For example, an individual can experience scarcity in money, space, time, love or support, and housing which all have an effect over time on their interactions with systems around them (APSY 418, 7/5.2017). Christopher experiences scarcity both through his own choices and as a result of the relationship that he had with those around him. For example, in his relationship with his father Christopher experiences a scarcity of affection and nurturing that would have softened the impact of his father parenting style and demand for perfection. This lack of emotional support, despite the presence of basic needs, cause Christopher to develop a lack of attachment to his father and made it easier for him to break off from his family later in his life. On the other hand, Christopher chooses to experience a scarcity of money, shelter, and other basic necessities when he leaves civilization and tries to survive in the wilderness. the lack of human interaction is ... • 7. What Is The Role Of Corruption In Animal Farm The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself , from H.L. Mencken. Animalism, in Animal Farm by George Orwell, promises everything you could desire in a society: abundance in the things you need, equality, and less labor. Animal Farm is about a farm on which the animals believe that they are not being treated fairly, so they all decide to revolt against their farmer and create, what they think to be, a perfect society, called Animalism. Animalism in the book drew parallels to socialism in the Soviet Union in the 1940s. Unfortunately, like the Soviet Union, Animalism becomes corrupt because of tyrants at the top who lead the government, in this case, pigs. Slowly, but surely the socialist like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They help the pigs succeed by not wanting to make their own decisions, promoting fear amongst the animals driven by violence, and their willingness to do any dirty work requested by the pigs. Ultimately, these choices have the largest effect in helping the pig s rise to power. Having been in a corrupt country before, to see family, I see many parallels between the dogs and the military in African countries. In Kenya, instead of the military working to enforce the laws, more often they work to promote fear, in order to keep the corrupt government in place. For fear tactics, every time you see a police officer they have a large gun strapped to the front of his or her chest. They sometimes ignore people who are being robbed and take bribes from criminals who are trying to not get caught. From Animal Farm, I have learned numerous lessons, but one of the most important is that a good society needs checks and balances when it comes to the military. If they are not checks and balances in place, there can be a pooling of power which results in corruption like what we see in Animal Farm. Secondly, in order to be a good citizen in a Democratic Republic make the choice that you know is right, instead of the most attractive choice, or else you can end up being part of the problem like the dogs. All in all, try to make your set up your society in a way to avoid a pooling of power and try to make it better every chance you get by making the decision that you know is ... Nur 571 Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Generally Accepted Accounting Principles Amy Santus RN BSN HCS/571 October 3, 2011 Debra Vaughn Increasing pressures of cutting costs and improving the quality of care in health care services influences the management of the health care organization to implement the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) within their daily routines. Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) are a set of uniform accounting guidelines health care organizations follow to determine the financial position of an organization. According to Finkler, Kovner, and Jones (2007) the most common and important GAAP are as follows: (a) Entity concept, (b) Going concern concept, (c) Matching principle and cash versus ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the materiality principle assists the professional judgment of a manager with these challenges on deciphering whether or not to deem an item as material. Usually if an item has an impact on the income, or affects the decision making of the professional using the financial statement, the item is material. Another GAAP is the full disclosure principle. This principle states that it is imperative to include all information in a financial statement of an entity that would affect the reader s understanding of the statements. This principle also includes the reporting of any current accounting policies as well as any changes of them. The last GAAP is the consistency principle. The consistency principle suggests that once an organization agrees upon the utilization of an accounting principle or method, they should consistently use the same method for future fiscal years. This will provide a more accurate comparison for the individuals dealing with the massive amounts of numbers and transactions each fiscal year. In conclusion, a health care organization s primary focus may be to provide quality care services; however the financial wellbeing and viability is critical to meet that focus. A substantial portion of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) applies specifically to reporting entities that are involved in the business of healthcare. It is likely to be done in a sensitive period, perhaps when the business s profits are low. Changes in Accounting standard Accounting standards offers standard ways of recognising, measuring and presenting financial transactions. Any change in standards will affect the reporting of an enterprise and its comparison of results over a number of years. Impact of seasons on trading As stated above, the financial statements are based on year end results which may not be true reflection of results year round. Businesses which are affected by seasons can choose the best time to produce financial statements so as to show better results. For example, a tobacco growing company will be able to show good results if accounts are produced in the selling season. This time the business will have good inventory levels, receivables and bank balances will be at its highest. While as in planting seasons the company will have a lot of liabilities through the purchase of farm inputs, low cash balances and even nil receivables. Pennsylvania Walking Purchase Analysis In the Pennsylvania Walking Purchase the Penns acquired the land to pursue peace among the settlers and the Native Americans and ultimately profit for themselves. Penn was willed the land by his father, Sir William Penn, before he died. However, the land was never surveyed or officially placed in William Penns name so it became chaos for him and his heirs. Penn had ideas on how he wanted to govern the land but ran into issues along the way. When Penns sons received the land, they were already cash poor causing them to cheat and to steal what was not theirs. Penns sons hired men to cover the distance of the land so they could get clear title for it. With a clear title, Thomas and James could sell off the land however they deemed fit. Whereas ... This presented a problem for William Penn, Native Americans and his sons. In this era the land would have been measured by how far a man could walk in day and a half (Graham 288). Penns son Thomas had other plans for the land that his father would have frowned upon. So he hired sprinters to come in and walk the distance of the land but desiring more land than what was already agreed upon, he cheated the Lenape. Thomas was so obsessed with money he could make off the land that he got the Pennsylvanians to run the Indians off the land. The Lenape because of this became bitter and hurt which eventually shattered the tribe. The final outcome for the Pennsylvania Walking Purchase changed the course of history. William Penn s vision of a city that was ruled by good faith and a seventh century Quakerism failed to exist. During the building process the Native Americans felt like Penn s promise to them was broken and they cut ties with him. His vision of the city was hoped to bring peace among the people. Sinsemilla, a seedless version of marijuana, that has been cultivated in recent years, has much higher concentrations of THC throughout the plant (Abel 5). The amount of THC that is present depends on the conditions the plant is raised in (Gold 261). Cannabis grown in hot climates has a greater delta 9 THC concentration and barely any cannabidiol. It is these plants that are grown in the hotter climates that are cultivated for their psychoactive effects. Marijuana contains almost 30% THC; however, 50% of that is destroyed when it is burned, such as when it is smoked (Gold261). Unfortunately, the factories owned the newspapers so they wouldn t publish her position on the subject, so she made her own form of publicity by forming a march of children and parents. (Josephson). She was an activist for the abolishment of child labor. Mother Jones had a lot of courage to speak out even though not a lot of people listened. After publicly marching to Sagamore Hills, Judith Pinkerton Josephson states, Within a few years, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and other states did pass tougher child labor laws. The federal government finally passed a child labor law (part of the Fair Labor Standards Act) in 1938 thirty five years after the march of the mill children. Mother Jones was persistent on getting her message out in public because so many people were clueless on what was happening to the children. That is not the love that is directed towards the humanity as a whole, but towards the individual: Strive to love your neighbor actively and indefatigably (II, 4). For Dostoevsky such love is a false one and he presents it through such characters as Rakitin, Perkhotin and even Luzhin: Consciousness of life is superior to life, knowledge of the laws of happiness is superior to happiness that is what we must fight against. (The Dream of a Ridiculous Man , p. 382) One of greatest evils for Dostoevsky are the so called liberals who love humanity more than an individual man. Yet he does not represent their behavior as genuinely evil . Their hate towards humanity arises exactly from the opposite: love. Secular humanists see so much evil, crime and inhumanity, they cannot stop it so they rebel. Ivan Karamazov and his rebellion are purely of that kind. He is not vile, he just cannot understand that there might be a solution for such suffering, especially in the case of children who are innocent in Christianity. That is why Ivan asks: Love life more than the meaning of it? (II, 3) Ivan as any average intellectual, wants to know. To know the meaning of life for him is more important than to actually do something about the human suffering. Ivan forgets that one human life is as important as the entire humanity. Arguably the most prominent theory is the idea of a Sonderweg or special path taken by Germany that deviates from the normal path to modernity... the British way, the first and therefore classical model. There is ample evidence of a Sonderweg throughout Wilhelmine/Bismarckian Germany, from the lack of a real democracy in 1871 to attempts to repress threats through policies such as Kulturkampf and the anti Socialist laws. Bismarck always held that the best foundation for an alliance was to have a common enemy. This was illustrated in his Kulturkampf policies in which he attempted to appeal to the Protestant population in the German Empire which made up 61% of the populous by restricting and persecuting the Catholic population. For example, in 1872, religious schools were forced to undergo official inspections carried out by the government and religious teachers were banned from government schools. Then in May 1873 when the May Laws were enacted, nearly half of all seminaries in Prussia closed as a result. Bismarck s failed attempts to suppress the threat of the socialists through use of the anti Socialist laws was another sign of a special German path. The laws did not ban the SPD directly but instead aimed to cripple it, so that it was no longer a threat, through various means. Groups meeting who aimed to spread social democrat principles were banned and trade unions were outlawed. Bismarck also introduced old age pensions, accident and unemployment insurance and medical care in an attempt to win the support of the working class and keep them content with the current regime. Do they even need to understand sex or STDs? Well of course not. That s why schools should not even teach these students sex because it s just going to be too much for the high school students young mind, sex education will definitely motivate the students to have sex regardless of their sexuality , and it s up to their not so busy parents to explain sex and all its glory to their children who are attending high school. First off, why would you want to teach high school students about sex if you know it s going to be too much for their young, innocent minds? Let s face it, once when the teacher begins to talk about the males baby maker and the females foo foo the students are going to start laughing, or getting very uncomfortable. Very mature children, won t you say? Of course, the teachers are not going to call it baby maker or foo foo they re going to say the correct terms. Furthermore, sex education will most likely have to touch on the more sensitive topics like sexual harassment, or prostitution. Students having to hear about innocent people being raped is already crossing the line, and learning that women and maybe men are willing to have sex just to gain money. Might as well drop the class, or start skipping it. If for some reason the students are able to handle the lessons of sex, then that means they re going to be motivated to want to have sex with each other regardless their sexuality. Evidently this class is going to motivate them, the students, to have sex, and the students are not going to give a flip about the results. They re going to eventually learn that sex can be a pleasurable action as explained in both stage three and five of Sigmund Freud s psychosexual development theory. Stage three, which is the phallic stage, states that around the age of three to five years old, the child will seek for pleasure that is centered on masturbation and/or oral sex. There are many conventions to the gothic genre which indulges details on gothic architecture, spirituality and lucid descriptions in the first person along with dialogues. It is widely accepted that both the novella, Carmilla and the short stories from The Bloody Chamber include these aspects of gothic literature. Patriarchal dominance is often defined as a system of male domination and in gothic fiction it is traditional for the male to in fact save the weak and fragile female out of danger; further dominating his role. Although Carmilla was written during the Victorian Era, one would aspect a male dominated patriarchal system to be followed, but Le Fanu doesn t succumb to the traditional but in fact subverts it by casting the villain as female who preys on young and vulnerable women ultimately for power. However, where Carmilla does indeed follow the traditional gothic horror narrative where the victims are always presented as succumbing to a temptation that inevitably, has metaphysical consequences; in Carmilla the victims die from an unknown malady. Disadvantages Of A Semi Structured Interview Section 1: Methodological Considerations Question 1 One advantage of a semi structured interview is that in the case of participants who tend to answer questions briefly, the interviewer can ask more open ended questions and cater the structure of the interview for the participant. The interviewer has a choice of which order to ask the questions in and how to ask them. For instance, in the transcript for the interview, the interviewer is being provided with one sentence yes/no replies in the beginning. Then, a few questions later, the interviewer asks a more detailed question that asks the participant how they manage their diabetes and who helps them. This prompts a more detailed response from the participant, who has now been asked to speak more freely about their experience with diabetes. Furthermore, for semi structured interviews, the interviewers can follow what the participants are saying and modify their questions accordingly. The interviewer can be prompted by something the participant has said, and explore that prompt further in their proceeding questions. For example, when the respondent states that they do their own finger prick blood test, the interviewer then explores that deeper by asking follow up questions such as what equipment the participant uses and the difference in their own materials versus the hospital s. June 2010 Within the context of pastoral literature, change is typically seen as a destructive force, intrinsic with the movement away from a harmony with the natural world towards modernisation and corruption. In Brideshead Revisited the same pattern appears to be followed; moving from the peaceful harmony of Sebastian and Charles life in Oxford into corruption and turmoil or the shifting power balance between the social classes, from the nobility to the lower classes. It is as a result of this night that Sebastian is arrested and tried for drunk driving, and introduces them to the realities of adult life. It is because of this episode that the Marchmain family are shamed in the newspaper, perhaps worsening Lady Marchmains over reaction to Sebastian s drinking later in the novel. This illustrates clearly how even in these youthful days that Charles cherishes so much, there was chaos which corrupted the serene life with Sebastian which he chooses not to dwell on. Waugh presents corruption in terms of the hierarchy of society, with the nobility exclusively privileged to positions of power, as nought but as negative through his portrayal of Hooper. Charles states in the prologue that Hooper is a symbol to me of Young Britain ; notably Hooper is not presented as an overly inspiring, promising or likeable character. The use of young has connotations of the working class were just coming of age and beginning to have the means to hold positions of power and influence, as well as suggesting a major change in the Britain; an old way of life has been left to be replaced by a new one. Only after saving himself and making sure he was ok, does Huck begin to take others well being into consideration. Mark Twain shows the irony in this as Huck went to great lengths to put the gang of criminals in the position they were in, only to feel pity for them afterwards.
