Special Education Curriculum For Students With Disabilities
1.From your perspective, what exactly, are we talking about when we say special education
curriculum ? At first I was a little confused about this question. I was thinking about special
education curriculum in the terms of an adaptive curriculum. After reading the articles form this
module and locating my own article, special educationcurriculum refers to what educators are doing
to make the general education curriculum accessible to students with disabilities. Although there
have been many changes related to the education of students with disabilities, there is still a
noticeable gap in achievement between students without disabilities and students with disabilities
(Aron Loprest, 2012).
2.Describe the legal climate of special education today. How does this climate affect the decisions
we make in designing and implementing special education curricula? Provide specific examples.
There are many legal issues that arise in the area of special education. During the summer 2015
school term I completed the course Special Education Law. In this course I discovered that
litigation regarding the laws of IDEA and Section 504 are on the rise. Parents are more educated
of their rights and there are advocates as well as organizations readily available to assist student
with disabilities as well as their parents. Some of the topics that can cause legal issues include
placement in the least restrictive environment, progress monitoring of goals and objectives and

Split Personality Of The Russian National Character Essay
Split Personality Of The Russian National Character Russian Empire, USSR, and the smaller
states of today, the largest one being Russia itself have had their due share of a very healthy
legacy and have been at the forefront of things. Russian Empire was the last largest empire to
have survived for so long and when that split up things did not end there. It is a huge piece of land
with marked difference in every respect possible. The way they have contributed to the history and
made history is simply commendable. One keeps wondering when one sets to read about what is
expected and what is due. The history seems intriguing when we start considering the Russian
history. The Russiansrepresents a sort of split personality and the way things... Show more content

Turks were there, controlling a part of it. Be it the Bolsheviks or the Proletariats or the reign of
Peter the Great or the defeats at the hands of Napoleon or annihilation of his army or the defeat of
German near Stalingrad, some things have stayed the same and in the limelight. They have paid
dearly for the things, which they did not even do in the past and secondly they have always been
there in their own subtle little way but never as a force to reckon with. Any guesses as to why do
that happen? The nation has been growing and building as the earlier parts of the essay suggest.
It had a lot of interaction and the growth brought in a lot of people from outside and the races
mixed and there were hybrids. So it is not and it never was one nation. There were a lot of nations
within that single nation and that is what made it all the more complex. There was no single
driving force and there was nothing to unite the. No religion commonality, no language as being the
same, even the origins was different. It was bound to happen that the nation would have a split
personality and it did have that. There was a lot of dichotomy in the statements made and there
was a huge consensus as to how to eliminate the differences but this was something that just was
not possibly biologically speaking. Be it music or be it the style of governance or even the type of
architecture in the country. They all

Looking For Alibrandi By Melina Marchetta Essay
Everyone wants to be in control of their own lives and have a bit of freedom, sadly this doesn t
happen for some. I have chosen to look at films, novels and short stories that are to do with being
controlled. This includes the novel Looking for Alibrandi written by Melina Marchetta, a short
story On the sidewalk bleeding by Evan Hunter and the films The Hunger games directed by Gary
Ross and The boy in the striped pyjamas directed by Mark Herman.
In the novel Looking For Alibrandi , Josie who is an Italian girl deals with her traumas of
everyday life. Since her family is Italian she has a traditional event called Tomato Day which is
where the community comes together to bottle tomatoes. Josie always complains about how
boring Tomato Day is and tries to explain to her Nonna that she is getting older and more mature
so she should be allowed to be like any ordinary teenage girl. Josie s Nonna is a very strict and
controlling woman and is always saying that Josie s mother Christina is not fit to parent Josie
because she isn t strict enough. In the novel we can clearly state that Josie feels like she has no
freedom especially with her Nonna in her life. A quote that tells us this is, I ll run one day. Run
for my life. To be free and think for myself....I ll run to be emancipated. When Nonna finds out
that Josie gets an Australian boyfriend she is very disappointed with Josie s choice. This is
because Italians are very involved and judgemental people and Nonna doesn t

Similar Themes in A Rose for Emily, The Garden Party, and...
Short stories often have various underlying themes and meanings to them and can often be
compared to other stories to find those same meanings. Occasionally, you need to dig deeper to
find these hidden meanings. The three short stories, A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner,
The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield, and Everyday Use by Alice Walker all share some
similar themes and ideas that require some digging to uncover and bring to the surface. The
main analysis this essay with cover is comparing how the three stories discuss and express class
and heritage, as well as how death can cause people to not only think things in a different way
but also how death can open your eyes to something you never would have seen otherwise.
Another thing that is potentially easily missed is how each of the individuals writing styles and
backgrounds affect the ground work of the stories and how they progress. The first of the three
stories is called A Rose for Emily (Faulkner, 1993). It is a story focused around Emily Grierson
and the author divides the story into 5 parts or sections. The story has a narrator that goes
nameless for the entirety of the story. In section one of A Rose for Emily (Faulkner, 1993) the
narrator is recalling the death of Emily Grierson and how the collective group of towns folk attend
the funeral, which is located in her home. It also talks about how after the death of Emily s father
that the mayor of the town at the time suspended Emily s tax responsibilities

Establishing Good Relationships Between Teachers And Students
ESTABLISHING GOOD RELATIONSHIPS
Teaching is a job which involves constant interaction and communication between teachers and
students. In order for communication to be effective, it is important that a good relationship exists
between the two parties.
Since the role of the teacher plays a major factor in student learning (Effect size = 0.93) according
to Hattie (2013), it is vital that a positive relationship occurs. Equally important are the relationships
a student has with his class peers. If students feel safe and comfortable in their learning
environment, they are more willing to take risks and interact with others, which only improves the
quality of learning that takes place.
Therefore, I always try to foster a healthy atmosphere in my classes. The first thing I do as a
teacher, starting on the opening school day and reinforced from then on, is to establish a culture of
respect. This is one of my class expectations and usually there is a poster up to remind everyone
that respect for oneself and each other is paramount. It is only once that is established that positive
communication and relationship building can occur.
It is generally believed that the components of healthy relationships are communication, trust,
respect and love (Townsend, 2014). Clearly, after establishing a line of communication, and
ensuring an environment of respect, trust is the next issue that I work on. Trust building is a
process that varies for each student but I try to initiate

Effective Communication Within Work Place
Effective Communication within Work Place Personal experience could not been completed
without coming across lack of effective communication skills within the military. The perception I
have about the military was that military has never been a profession, but a National services
provider. All this was a result of lack of effective communication within work place.
Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It is about understanding the
emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective communication is also a two way
street. It is not only how you convey a message so that it is received and understood by someone
in exactly the way you intended. It is also how you listen to gain the full meaning of what is being
said and to make the other person feel heard and understood. Thesis: Effective communication
within work place could be achieved with effective good listening skills that eliminate barriers to
effective communication and providing feedback. Barriers to effective communication Lack of
focus You cannot communicate effectively when you are planning what you are going to say next,
daydreaming, checking text message, or thinking about something else. This is one the personal
experience I noticed in the military. However, in today s world of social network our NCOs are
facing some challenges of competing against the social media. You need to stay focus on moment

Egypt under Mubarak
Egypt plays an extremely significant role as one of the major powers in the Middle East. Egyptian
force in the Arab world stems from the strength of its cultural life which makes it extremely
difficult to be ignored. The book, Egypt under Mubarak features essays from seven different
authors, which examine the causes and consequences of the many crises Egypthas faced. Mubarak
comes into power taking upon himself the previous Egyptian political, sociological, and economic
problems left by Sadat and Nasser. The present administration attempts to fix these problems by
employing Egypt s significant resources in the forming of a distinct and effective international role.

The book touches on topics with a broad range from politics to economy to geography. The book
is solely based on research of the Egyptian government from the time when Mubarak took power,
1981, up until the writing of the book which was in 1989.
Throughout the book, 16 books are cited. Even though the book is based on the government under
Mubarak, the writers refer to events that were held before Mubarak was put into power which
helps the reader understand the important history behind the present. After each chapter, there are
bibliographies as well as endnotes in some chapters listing the sources used in the passage. Except
for the Chapter on the National Debt where his previous statements based on The Central Bank of
Egypt, Cairo contradicts his final assessment of the sum.
The writers of each section always tend to agree with the sources that they have cited. With this
known, I was able to see that the writers in each chapter took into account the other writings of
scholars that wrote on similar topics. Because of the writers many sources, they are able to give
an unbiased look into the history of the Egyptian Government. They examine both the positive and
negative aspects of Mubarak as President specifically laws he passes and actions he takes towards
not only Egyptians, but also the Arab Israeli relationship, as well as foreign relations with Arab
countries and the western world. Charles Tripp goes into detail about the

Motivate, Delegate and Empower
AC 2.2
Review own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others
For any business to be successful it needs motivated employees. They are the single most important
factor in the long term success of an organisation.
Empowerment refers to the employee s feeling of being effective, in control and influential.
Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better
performance.
Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some
basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to provide the framework for further motivation and
empowerment.
There are five levels in the hierarchy: * Physiological needs * Safety and security needs * Love or

Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that
make him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace.
Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to
make decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome
of the delegated work.
Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation,
on the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties.
Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager
oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate
increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases.
Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives:
One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some
time with her trying to establish the root cause of this.
Having asked several questions I established that she felt bored with her daily routine and wanted a
fresh challenge.
I took notes of our meeting and produced a plan with her which involved a gradual phasing in of
more duties and a greater involvement in decision

John Davis Life Extension Essay
In Is It Unjust to Develop Life Extension if It Will Not Be Possible to Provide It to Everyone? ,
John Davis argues on the fact on whether or not we should develop life extension if it won t bet
fairly distributed amongst our society. Davis believes that the rich will most likely have access
to life extension before the poor, which creates the issue of unequal access to life extension. In
this essay, I will be siding with Davis argument, as there should be no reason to develop and
research life extension if we cannot make it available to everyone at once.
John Davis believes that life extension would be too expensive to those who cannot afford it when
it comes to repayment. In addition, Davis also states that being excluded from life extension ...

In this case, I would have to stand with Davis support in delaying life extension, as it will take a
long period of time to develop and allocate life extension around the world equally. Being able to
take advantage of life extension would lead us into to the inability to repay the efforts that were
put into researching and developing life extension. For example, if we were able to take out a
loan for life extension, then the time in life we have to repay for life extension would also
increase. Life extension would also worsen our death, then it would better our death, as we are
harmed comparatively on impending death. When you anticipate your future death to be in your
early nineties, it may not sound as bad when there is no life extension available, but when you
see a wealthy person live into their hundreds with life extension, it will make your death sound
worse off if you died in your nineties. We have to delay the development and access to life
extension until we can find a way to distribute life extension evenly between the have and have nots
in our society. For example, the cost of technology in our world becomes cheaper overtime when
there are competitors who developing the same technology. The Apple iPhone and

Soviet Union 1984
1984
Big brother is watching you is a famous quote from George Orwell s 1984 (1949). Taking place
in a dystopian world, Orwell created the classical warning of a world without freedom of speech,
where you as an individual must obey the rules of the authorities, otherwise your life was at risk.
Although the book takes place in 1984, it was written in 1949. At the time, the soviet union had it s
rise, with Joseph Stalin as a main character. A man who was and is known for his dictatorship and
inhumane leadership.
The purpose of this analysis is to show how the themes of the novel are loosely based on the events
in the soviet union, and the similarities between the world of big brother and Joseph Stalin s
communistic leadership.
Nobody has ever seen Big Brother. He is a face on the hoardings, a voice on the telescreen. We
may be reasonably sure that he will never die, and there is already considerable uncertainty as to
when he was born. The plot of 1984 is created around the myth of Big Brother. He watches you

The Effects Of Alcohol On The Drinking Culture Of America
Throughout the eighteen hundreds saloons were the site of rockus drinking, profane drunkards, and
unthinking violence. This drinking culture was defined by masculinity and by free flowing alcohol
that permeated all throughout America, city to city. The saloons became so popular with working
men because it was time they could spend away from their wives and their homes. In Catherine
Murdock s book Domesticating Drink she argues that these elements of saloon culture, exclusivity,
inebriety, and violence, were eliminated by the increase in popularity of mixed sex speakeasies,
cocktail parties, and the overall domestication of drink. But this conclusion misinterprets the history
of alcohol from Prohibition to the present. Although alcohol is now consumed without the
exclusively of the past, it has evolved to be over sexualized and associated with a masculine culture
of binge drinkingover sexualized and domestic violence. The domestication of drink did allow
women to integrate into the drinking cultureof America and allowed women to join the drinking
population if they choose to drink. Murdock was correct in saying that the exclusivity of the all
male saloon culture crumbled in the nineteen teens and onwards into the twenties, thirties, and
forties. One of the most important transitions was that alcohol became far more prevalent in the
household setting (165). The rise of cocktail parties gave women an opportunity to drink that was
softened feminized enough to remove its most

Under the control of Hitler from 1918 1939 Poland was under serious attack. Concentration camps
were being constructed and Poles were possible targets because, at the time, Poland was home to
the worlds largest Jewish population (Polish Diaspora). In 1939 Poland was invaded by
Germany and was put under the Soviet Union s control. One cultural aspect Poles like to
exercises is their right to freedom and to be different, but under the rule of the USSR it was very
hard to express ones individuality and religion. Communism called for unionism and the Poles
disliked this way of life. This lack of personal freedom handicapped the Polish culture, not
allowing it to grow because many Poles were not known as wealthy. Because Poland was lacking
in artistic culture Paris became their center for literacy and artistic expression (Barnett, 374).
Many feared for their lives around this time and fled to America in the 20 s, allowing for the
spread of Polish values over seas. This is the main cause of the Polish diaspora because many of
the Poles immigrating to America were Jewish (Polish Diaspora). During the communist reign a
particular group, not like the Jewish Polish community, of people called the Lemko s had ritual and

Junction 48 Reflection Paper
Event Reflection
Summary of the event
A narrative film, Junction 48, was screened at the Little Theater in Rochester on September 17th in
2017. This event was one of the programs of the Witness Palestine Film Festival sponsored by
Christian Witnessing for Palestine. After the screening, the audience had a chance to ask questions
of the director, Udi Aloni, through Skype.
Junction 48 is a 2016 film directed by Aloni, an Israeli and American filmmaker. This film
describes young Israeli Arab musicians struggle against oppression from Israeli authority and
nationalists and problems within Palestinian communities such as drug deals and honor crimes.

A large number of Arabs were shot to death, including civilians, by Israeli soldiers (Shavit, 2013).
In July 1948, Prime Minister David Ben Gurion required dispossession of all the Palestinians in
Lydda (Shavit, 2013). About 19,000 of the 20,000 Palestinian inhabitants were forced to migrate
(Munayyer, 2012). Now Lydda is called Lod, and about 25 percent of the residents are Arabs
(Martin, 2013). This Jewish Arab mixed city has poor public safety (Martin, 2013).
The Arab Israeli conflict displaced 750,000 Palestinians, and they are still not allowed to return to
their home (AFSC, n.d.) . About 1.6 million Israeli Arabs (Abdalla, 2012), in Lod, have
citizenships of Israel, but they don t have the equal rights to Jewish people. (BBC, 2009).
Analysis of the Film
This chapter analyzes Junction 48 in terms of two points: whether Israeli Arabs can be included in
a common type of force migrants, and whether culture can be the reason for refugees to return.
First, before considering the case of Israeli Arabs, those typical types of forced migrants should be
clarified; refugees are those who fled their country of origin and because they fear being persecuted
for a good reason such as race and religion; asylum seekers are those who have made a journey
abroad to get a refugee status but whose application has not adopted; internally displaced persons
(IDPs) are those who have been compelled to leave their homes with other residents

Voter Turnout In America
The nature of voter turnout is a broad concept in modern American politics and can be broken into
many topics: how voter turnout varies by state, by election, by demographics, and whether or not
voter turnout actually matters. Despite public opinion that voter participation is declining and that
such participation matters, voter turnout is about the same as it was in the 1960s and has not
undergone serious changes, and turnout only actually matters in competitive or local elections,
rarely national elections. The first determinant of variation in voter turnout is electiondifferences
between states; specifically, votingaccessibility, early voting, how competitive the race is, and

Male friends are similar and distinctive in so many ways. But one thing they share among each

between maleand females. It is evident that femaleand male conversations differ from each other.
Females can hold a conversation on the phone for hours and not run out of things to say, beginning
from gossip, to chattering about crushes, then on continuing to compliment each other for
supportive reasons, later comes down to being called the word Thick . Females sometimes don t
realize how much we need us women in each other s life. For instance, we require each other for
support, love, and the basic everyday drama which include going through menstrual cycles that men
naturally can t comprehend. On the other hand, males can barely last an hour when holding a

they say what they discuss what they need to discuss and dismiss the conversation. Money, sex,
drugs, and not to mention sports of all things is usually the topic on a day to day basis as I ve

I am silent. My heart is too heavy to say anything. The gravity that pulls me down to the ground

Caribou Descriptive Writing
I Inhale a breath of icy fresh air as I release the string on my bow. The arrow whistles sharply
through the air until splat the front end of the arrow plunges deep into the Caribous thorax. The
Caribou jars its head up and collapses as its legs buckles beneath him. I silently place my bow
back into its hid satchel, which is strapped behind my back, cautiously walking towards the
carcass. First I verify that the animal is dead, by observing the stillness of his chest. Then I pull
the arrow out gingerly, and I watch as a scarlet stream of blood cascades out of the wound melting
the snow to create little lagoon. Planting myself in the snow beside the carcass and I begin my
routine, first retrieving a small rag from my satchel to wipe off the... Show more content on

Warm light is spilling out of the cabin, a shiver is sent up my spine as I remember what it feels
like to sit by a nice warm fire. But I must not shirk, I will have to spend at least a few hours
preparing the Caribou meat properly and drying out and cleaning the organs. I take off the bags
of meat and trudge through the heavy snow towards the meat house. I get inside the tiny meat
house and the smell of salt hits me like a wall. In the meat house is racks and racks of dried meat
and a huge ice box in the corner where I store some of it, there is also a wooden counter where I
will lay out and cast the meat in salts to preserve it properly. It is cold and dark in the meat house
so I pull a match out of my satchel and light a candle. I find a certain peace in preparing meat,
which is kind of weird but I am really passionate about my job. Hours later I am finished and I blow
out the candle and head towards the house, my stomach is growling and I realise that I had not
eaten since I broke my fast. As I walk the worn path to the cabin, I look up at the sky and see a
millions and billions of stars sprinkled across the galaxy I stare amazed it s a great day to be alive. I

Fibromyalgia Definition
In a literal translation fibromyalgia means muscle fiber pain. It is a chronic pain disorder that
causes pain and tenderness in the muscle to the touch. By affecting the way your brain processes
pain signals, researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies those sensations. Robert Bennett MD,
explains that different parts of the brain are involved in painreactions. Pain sensation is necessary;
it serves as a reflex to avoid discomfort. This unconscious reflex of avoidance causes the brain to
swiftly react, before the actual awareness of the pain sensation occurs. This chronic disorder causes
widespread body pain, fatigue, tension headache, digestive problems, depression, anxiety and
temporomandibular joint disorder. To have an accurate diagnosis for fibromyalgia health
professionals rely on physical examination, a precise tender point examination, and the patient s
history.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there is a specific criterion for identifying fibromyalgia. Sometimes fibromyalgia is
confused with rheumatoid arthritis or lupus and other conditions like hypothyroidism and
polymyalgia rheumatic which mimics fibromyalgia. First, doctors need to base the pain and
symptoms by the level of severity and the total number out of nineteen painful areas of the body.
Then if for at least three months the symptoms remain at a similar level of discomfort and from
the results of x rays and blood test determining no other heath issues. The conclusion could then
only be fibromyalgia. Scientist discovered that women are more than likely to be diagnosis with
this disease. They have also determined that a patient is prone to develop fibromyalgia if the
family history has relative conditions, as well as rheumatic diseases like

Sidi Laribi Cherkaoui Mosaic Martha Graham Dance
Imagine a dark foggy stage, with nine dancers, the women dressed in long flowing pleated skirts,
clustered in a tableau. The dancers stand completely still except for their lips which pantomime the
haunting voices of the exotic Middle Eastern music. This is how Sidi Laribi Cherkaoui s piece
Mosaic, danced by the Martha Graham DanceCompany, opened. Mosaic was a mysterious,
suspenseful and provocative work that embodied many ritual and mystical traditions from Middle
Eastern culture. However, the tone of the piece was not created by the musicand choreography
alone, much of the overall environment was created by the technical aspects of the performance.

Machiavelli s Role In Political Philosophy
This paper presents the role played by political philosophy in the development of political science
and political theory. The writer argues that political philosophy served as the foundation in the
development of political theory and political science, and that the shifts in theory and practice have
legitimized the importance of political philosophy. The writer uses examples in arguing how
political philosophys role was crucial in the development of political theory and in turn, political
science. Likewise, the status of political philosophy along with the shifts in theory and practice is
also discussed.
Political science is a discipline, an art, and a branch of instruction or study which deals with the
systems of government while later developing to also cover the study of political phenomena and
political behavior of people (Goodin Klingemann, 1998). Political theory aims more to describe
situations and also to prescribe what would work; it is composed (but not entirely) of many isms or
systems of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Machiavelli s discussion already had the elements of political theory. This is because he already
had described the different types of state, and proposed a type of leadership considering only
what would work rather than what is ideal and what ought to be done. As opposed to Plato who
focused on the ideal, Machiavelli focused more on what is practical and what would yield results
that are in the interests of the state. This supports the writer s claim that political philosophy is the
foundation of the formation of political theory and political science because Machiavelli s
developed political theory was still founded upon his political philosophy that required strong

Carnival Corporation Plc Executive Summary
As the number of cruise ships continues to increase in the industry, domination by a few
companies continues to rise. Carnival Corporation plc is one of the largest cruise companies in
the world has put orders for three new cruise ships to be built in China. This is in order to have
cruise ships that are going to different routes at a time, hence serving a more diverse customer
base (Vairo, Quagliati, Del Giudice, Barbucci, Fabiano, 2017). The company has already almost
exhausted the older generation of its customers. Carnival Corporation plc has however found it
hard to attract the younger generation. One of the issues is that the younger generation does not

One of the improvement initiatives that the company has been engaged with over the years is
improving the terms of its employees. These terms include their basic pay, overtime pay, rest
hours, medical service schemes and other benefits. This is because, in order for strategic
management and the objectives and goals of a business to be met, they need to have a satisfied
employee base. A satisfied employee base would then be motivated to do their job well. The
American Maritime Union has in the past cited the mistreatments, overworking, underpayment and
exploitation of employees in almost all the cruise ships. Carnival Corporation plc was one of the
cruise ship companies mentioned in this report. In order to improve this, the company has been
engaging with labor unions which represent the employees on the improvement of the above
mentioned terms. As a result, the company has been able to hire employees and run its operations
without running into trouble with unions about their staff. Its operations have therefore gone on

Employee Productivity Is The Backbone Of Any Enterprise
Chapter 1: Problem Definition
Background
Employee productivity, also known as workforce productivity, is the backbone of any
enterprise. According to Amabile and Kramer (2012), the source of productivity at any
company ...is the individual knowledge workers who get things done every day (para. 1). And
according to Axilrod (2015), the typical employee is at his or her desk for an average of
approximately five hours a day, paid for by the company. Thus, in the current climate of
globalization, outsourcing, downsizing, and pension reduction, it is vital for administration and
management to stay on top of what sustains employee loyalty and employee productivity. Several
elements contribute to effective employee productivity, including employee job satisfaction and
morale (Axilrod, 2015; Manson, 2014; Jarrow, 2013; Kaupelyte, 2013; Turner, 2013; Amabile
Kramer, 2012; Walters, 2010; Bowles Cooper, 2009). Neely (2013) asserts that Regardless of the
profession or type of work, the central element that has had a stake in productivity, longevity and
overall success of any organization [is] employee morale (p. 13).
The technology sector is one of the fastest growing in the business, if not the fastest growing sector.
Like many others in other sectors, companies in the technology sector are facing the challenges of
employee productivity and are initiating actions toward performance management (Axilrod, 2015)

World Myhtology The Golden Guide Analysis
To me, this passage just emphasizes the point that we all have distinctive outlooks on things.
There is a Spanish proverb that my mom used to say to me that reminds me of that Cada Cabeza
es un mundo ( each mind is a world unto itself). Therefore, just because we see something in a
particular way, does not mean that everyone else see it in the same way. To illustrate, recently I
went to the Metropolitan Art museum with my friend, we walked all over, but I stop and admire
a beautiful abstract painting of Pablo Picasso, to me it was such an experienced like the painting
was transmitting something to me, I was able to feel and perceived something. However, my
friend passed by the painting without even noticing and simply did not call his attention. I believe
that I saw something that made me emote so It was my reality. However, reality can be deceiving
and you can create your own illusion. In our World Myhtology The Illustrated Guide, the author
Willis related the popular myth in which narrates the story of the Gods trying to acquired the

Pride In Beowulf
I.Anglos Saxon and Beowulf s qualities and characteristics go hand in hand. Vitality, deadly
instincts and nationalistic pride alleviate natural pains encountered naturally, mythically and
psychologically in a variety of forms and entities. Beowulf himself displays these traits through
regal and personal exploits enveloped within such a story. Beowulfs standard premise of morally
just vs morally unjust starts with a neighboring country s plea to take down a threat of a demon,
Grendel. With this happening, he uses this information to bolster his already righteous status of a
hero, as well as his noble position in society, in which then would make his domestic wise men

People s demons, if living with a burden such as a little individual living within you, can bring
many sane individuals to their knees. A man s success at removing this parasite unlocks many
avenues for someone to rise above others in regards to mental strength. An example of this in
Beowulf s encounter and response with Unferth, We were both too young to know better that d
we risk our lives far out at sea. (269 270) It represents Beowulf challenging his inner demon of
getting even footing by striking out with verbal abuse. Before this, Beowulf s welcoming party
was met with an ill mannered warrior judging Beowulf on his status, in which during this event
he calmly stated his previous exploits in childhood were of desperation and loyalty to each
other, and afterwards getting approval and renown unexpectedly from Hrothgar. One other
example of fighting an inner demon is located in stanza eight, That shepherd of evil, guardian of
crime, knew at once that nowhere on Earth had he met a man whose hands were harder. (432
434) This quote represents a factor of power flowing through Beowulf and him already
challenging his inner demons to fight a monster capable of turning men to red paste. Before this,
Grendel was consuming warriors one at a time, during this time Beowulf seized upon his inner
strength and deflected Grendel s own fear back at him, thus making his presence seem less
intimidating. Afterwards, making Grendel wish he never came up from his marshes but to run
away. Both of these instances provided a gateway for Beowulf to represent his true colors of being
a warrior to and both a leader and follower of a code all at

An Old Man With Enormous Wings, By Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Gabriel Garcia Marquez s short story An old man with enormous wings written in 1955
discusses an old man who is found by two villagers named Pelayo and Elisenda in their
courtyard. This particular man is described as an old, poor man, with enormous wings, who
speaks an incomprehensible dialect with a strong sailor s voice (451). Many people think he is
angel as the neighbor woman said: he s an angel, he must have being coming for the child
(Pelayo and Elisenda s newborn baby who had been sick) but the poor fellow is so old that the
rain knocked him down (452). Others like Father Gonzaga think he is someone sent by the devil
because he did not understand the language of god or how to greet the minister (452). The
doctor thinks he is a human like everyone else but what surprises him more was that why other
men didn t have wings like him (455). For Pelayo an Elisenda the angel is actually someone who

Comparison Of March Of The Penguins And Happy Feet
In the films March of the Penguins and Happy Feet we get the essentially the same story both
times. The movies try to depict the life of a penguin and the struggles that they deal with. In both
cases the audience is going to walk away thinking that they have received this. However, March of
the Penguins is a genuine display of a penguin s life while Happy Feet feeds us a happy cartoon.
Another thing to consider here is the audience that might be attending each film. In this case a child
is going to be much more pleased with Happy Feet for obvious reasons, while an adult might
enjoy the experience of knowing how a penguin actually lives in the wild. Any viewer can have a
preference for this or that, they either want the real thing or the fairytale... Show more content on

It is an act that is taking place in front of the camera and just being captured. There are usually no
special effects and no one is manipulating the scene. During this film when the egg falls onto the
ice it is a very real thing happening. Inside the egg is a live penguin of some sort and it is
actually dying on film. While it is very sad, it is nature taking its course with no human
intervention and regardless if it was captured or not this egg would still have frozen while the
parent looked on helplessly. These are not people waddling around in costumes or a special
effects egg that is made to represent the real thing, it is real life. There is no recreating or acting
out a moment like this which is why this is easily viewed as a realist film. That is where mise en
scene comes into play. Everything that you do see is without a doubt real and not a constructed
set. They didn t just kill penguins to throw on camera and they didn t bring in stuffed ones either.
They simply recorded what they saw and found. Everything from the blistering cold winds to the
layers upon layers of snow dropped upon the enormous flock of birds is authentic. Even the
lighting and sounds around them is what the crew is forced to work with, no one on this earth
can change a blizzard just because they want to get a better shot for a movie. It s something that
would be very difficult to recreate and equally difficult to capture. The only effect that humans
add is the Voice of god that Morgan Freeman is giving to us. This man is never seen on screen
and is never mentioned throughout but he knows exactly what is going on and also he is very
knowledgeable about the unfolding events. This voice seemingly comes out of nowhere and that
is why it is referred to as such. While in actuality this man probably never set foot in Antarctica
and mostly likely recorded all of this in an air conditioned studio somewhere. So

Academic Coaching With Austin Is Going Well Essay
Academic coaching with Austin seems to still be going well. Except for the fact that he still
forgets to meet with me... and we meet at the same time and day of the week every week. I don t
know how to approach this topic with him again because I already went over it and expressed
that I need him to communicate with me about his absences. I was talking with one of my
supervisors about it and she believes that he needs to be the one making first contact about missing
appointments, instead of just responding when I reach out. He just always seems to have such
good excuses. This week he was at a review session for his midterm. I just needhim to

Side Effects Of The American Revolution
The end of the American Revolution brought about a new sense of triumph for the privileged white
male colonist but did little in the sense of improving the lives of Native Americans, African
Americans and women. In fact, improvement in the lives of these groups was an unintended side
effect of the revolution, not the desired result.
In the beginning of the American Revolution, most Native Americans wished to remain neutral but
eventually sided with the British in hopes of preventing the American colonists from further
appropriating their land. When the American colonist won the American Revolution, the British
failed to protect their allies and offered Native American land to America in the Treaty of Paris.

However, it did change the way women regarded themselves and broadened the traditional role of
motherhood. Prior to the American Revolution, a woman s role was restricted to the home. In the
sense that she be responsible for cooking, cleaning and bearing children. Married women had no
legal rights nor independence when it came to economic or political matters. The notion that a
woman was intellectually equivalent to a man was considered absurd. During the American
Revolution, women found themselves living independently of a man s presence and responsible for
duties both inside and outside the home. With this women developed a new sense of ability for
themselves. Women began to regard themselves as intellectual beings and started questioning their

Ethics Is A System Of Moral Principles And It Affects How...
Ethics is a system of moral principles and it affects how people make decisions and lead their life
(bbc.co.uk/ethics/introduction/intro_1.shtml) and there are different branches of ethics which are
Meta ethics the study of language;
Normative ethics is the study of moral standard that we live our lives by and;
Applied ethics is the application of ethical theories to access whether something is ethical. Restraint
is a measure of protecting someone or something out of danger (oxforddictionaries.com/definition
/English/restraint). Mental illness refers to different kind of mental health conditions or disorders
that my affect your mood, thinking and behaviour (Mental illness Mayo Clinic).
There are two ethical theories used in the material that are Situation Ethics and utilitarianism.
Situation Ethics is a theory that was found by Joseph Fletcher in the 1960s. Fletcher argued that
every individual is different and therefore absolute rules are too restrictive. Situation Ethics argues
that ethics is based on one principal which is acting with love. For you to be ethical it says you
need to act with love towards one another, no matter of what they have done to you. Fletcher also
emphasis that legalism is the insistence that predetermine laws are to be put into action when they
are relevant to the situation at hand. He also states that there is no act or law, not even love that can
determine whether an action is right or wrong. When he set up his version of Situation Ethics,

Tamerlane Research Paper
Timur was referred to by many names coming from many different people. The name Tamerlane
was derived from the Persian Timur i lane, he was called Temur the lame by Europeans, and his
Turkic name was Timur which means iron. He has also conquered more than any other person in
the world except for Alexander. Timurwas born in the city of Kesh in 1336. His father was a lesser
chief of the nomadic Barlas tribe. Timur claimed he was a direct descendant from Genghis Khan
through the house of one of his sons, Chagatai. In his twenties, Timur received arrow wounds in a
battle while trying to steal sheep. This left him lame in only his right leg, and a stiff right arm, thus
the reason he was named Temur the lame by the Europeans, and Tamerlane. These disabilities,

this, Timur began conquesting in Persia, and he first took over Herat. Khorasan, Iraq, Azerbaijan,
Armenia, Mesopotamia, and Georgia were all taken over by Timur in his massive conquest. In the
intervals between all of his conquests, Timur fought with the Khan of the Golden Horde named
Tokhtamysh. This conflict went on for many years, starting in 1385, when the Tokhtamysh
invaded Azerbaijan and Transoxania and defeated Timur s armies there. Timur chased
Tokhtamysh back into the Russian Steppes where he was defeated and stripped of the throne.
Tokhtamysh created a new army and tried to invade again, but was defeated once more, and

Executive s Emotional Intelligence, Insight, And...
Executive s emotional intelligence (EI), insight, and authority aptitudes have a clear connection to
their execution. New research demonstrates that an executive s passionate style drives other
people s inclinations and practices (Goleman, Boyatzis, McKee, 2015). Only in recent years has
there emerged a scientific model of the emotional mind that explains how so much of what we do
can be emotionally driven. Individuals can be so reasonable at one moment and so irrational the
next. Emotions can be experienced and deployed intelligently and skillfully or not so intelligent and
skillfully (Goleman, 2005). The skillthat allows one to understand, implement and use emotions is
called emotional intelligence(Goleman, 2005).
For the most part, incredible leaders know how their leadership style impacts their followers, and
this knowledge makes them great leaders. Genuinely incredible leaders recognize, comprehend and
deal with their feelings, as well as knowing what they can do with individuals in an exceptionally
engaging manner. Motivating and inspiring others is paramount to effective leadership (Kotter,
2012). In addition to having this enthusiastic insight, it is crucial for leaders to understand the
importance of having compassion, self awareness, and respect to communicating effectively with
the individuals that they lead. Leaders that understand and connect with their employees on an
emotional level are seen as authentic and lead with the heart, these traits are

Oliver Twists s Fagin as a Character for Whom the Audience...
Oliver Twists s Fagin as a Character for Whom the Audience has Considerable Sympathy
Oliver Twist was the second novel of Charles Dickens. It was initially published in monthly
instalments that began in February of 1837 and ended in April of 1939. The book has been
criticised for anti Semitism since Fagin is frequently referred to as the Jew . At the time many
Jews, who had fled to England from persecution abroad, were so discriminated against by the law
that they became travelling salesmen and stallholders. In these trades it was very easy to drift into
receiving and selling stolen goods. The Jewish thief s characterizations do seem to owe much to
ethnic stereotypes.
The first time Oliver ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jew believed that Oliver should be honoured to be welcomed by his intimate contact because
of the power he had over the other boys showing that he is very dominant. This illustrates that he
is very proud of the children he has brought up to be pickpockets. However, in reality we know
that bringing up small boys to steal is something to be frowned upon. Certainly, this shows Fagin is
swollen with pride with things of no worth.
Fagin is seen as a child abuser when we examine the way he treats the boys in the den. He allows
children of a young age to smoke long clay pipes, and drink spirits with the air of middle age men
. This gives the impression that the boys are being robbed of their youth at a very young age.
Without a doubt, a humane person would not strip the youngsters of their childhood.
At first Fagin doesn t want Oliver to know what he is really like. He uses repetition of the word
very in the context of him being glad to meet Oliver. He also refers to Oliver as my dear which is
an endearing term. Surely, only a kind hearted man, who loved children, would refer to a small
boy as this. However, we see that the Jew deliberately put Oliver to sleep by drugging him with a
glass of hot gin and water . It would suggest that Fagin wanted Oliver to get a good first

Disparities In US Birth Rates Of Hispanic Adolescents
The main ethnic/racial groups affected by the health issue are non Hispanic African American
females, Hispanic females, and Native Americans/Native Alaskans. There were key study findings
from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that found that U.S. birth rates for adolescents
vary considerably by race and Hispanic origin (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011).
Thus, this provides even more clear evidence on the difference of ethnic/racial groups. Additionally,
in 2008, the birth rate for Hispanic adolescents was approximately five times the rate for Asian
/Pacific Islander adolescents, three times the rate for non Hispanic white adolescents, and somewhat
higher than the rates for non Hispanic African American and Native American/Native Alaskan
adolescents (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011).
This brings caution, as according to The Pew Charitable Trusts, although teen pregnancy and birth
rates have declined over the past two decades, states still face the reality that African American and
Latina teens are more than twice as likely as white teens to become pregnant (Wiltz, T. 2015)....

differences, as financial/economic means have been attempted, but with no avail. The following

Based on the cross contextual analysis and evidence, adolescent pregnancy seems to be a glaring
issue. This is due to the fact, that all statistical findings point to the same direction: expressions

The French Revolution And The Revolution
Analysis
The French Revolution was such an important time history. Not only was it a massacre with many
lives being lost, including that of Queen Marie Antoinette and her husband King Louis XVI, it was
also a time of great political turmoil which would turn man against man that being the case of
Edmond Burke and Thomas Paine. Edmond Burke a traditionalist who believed the people should
be loyal to the king against his former friend, Thomas Paine a free thinker who believed in order
for things to improve one has to have some sort of change. In a time where it seemed as though
things changed over night the only question is which political party would be left standing? In the
following paper, I will attempt to analyze Edmund Burke s Reflections on the Revolution in France
against Thomas Paine s Right of man and state the difference between the two. But before any
analysis can be made I must first discuss in further detail the French Revolution.
The French Revolution first started in 1789, commoners were becoming upset with the lack of
voice they had within the French Parliament. Although, they made up the majority of the French
population, they always lost votes in a two to one landslide against the nobles and the aristocrats.
Not only were they not having a voice, but they were also being forced to pay taxes for wars that
lasted years, and the country was near bankruptcy, commoners could no longer look to their king
for help. King Louis XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette lived a

Unemployment Of The Australian Economy
In the Australian economy, trending unemployment rates are a prevailing socio economic issue.
With the labour market central to unemployment and the distribution of jobs, many factors arise as
the key influences on unemployment. With an incredible number of industries facing high demand
by consumers, it is speculated that employment would feature an increase to compensate. However,
many factors of the labour market contradict this and instead increase unemployment. Factors such
as the level of economic growth, technological changes, trends in productivity and the trends in
inadequate education have adverse effects on how unemployment increases and decreases.
Unemployment Overview Unemployment in the Australian economy is defined as the state of
involuntary idleness of work, and the rate of such. An extremely complex, it is often segregated into
four key demographics for analysis: national, state, youth and mature. Each of these four
demographics feature varying trends and are consistently affected by different factors of the labour
market. Causes of Unemployment The trend in unemployment within the Australian economy has
swayed significantly in the past 30 years. As of current, the national unemployment rate has been
established at 5.8%, after an unexpected downturn from 6% in February of 2016 ( Australia
Unemployment Rate | 1978 2016 ). Over the past 30 years, the trend of national unemployment has
been a downward drop, steadily moving from an approximate 8.2% in 1976 to

Rehearsal-Personal Narrative
It s the end of the season now. The weather outside is getting cold, the leaves are falling, and the
smell of winter is coming. After school I go to the auditorium for play rehearsal. We begin
discussing about what parts we each will be responsible for. I m not doing very much on the
stage in the beginning because I don t have a part assigned until a later time. To be honest it s
very boring when you don t have a part during a play rehearsal. We are taking a break and I began
contemplating the last cross country racewe had as a team.
Its 4 o clock in the evening and we are warming up for practice. Our coach talks to us for a couple

The nation of Israel has played a critical role in the formation of Western and Eastern ideologies and
has had an unmistakably profound impact upon the theological and cultural evolution of mankind.
Former U.S. President John Adams, commenting on the historical importance of the Hebrews, once
said the following:
I will insist the Hebrews have [contributed] more to civilize men than any other nation. If I was an
atheist and believed in blind eternal fate, I should still believe that fate had ordained the Jews to be

Within the three great religions it is generally recognized that the Hebrew patriarch Abraham,
through his recognition of one God, initiated the primary and pivotal acceptance of the necessity
of monotheism. This embrace of the reality of the existence of the one, supreme, and infinite God
was called Kiddush Hashem , or sanctifying the name of God by the Hebrews (Aish). Reflections
of the Kiddush Hashem can be found in the three primary prayers of the monotheistic religions:
The Islamic Shahada: la ilaha illa Allah (there is no God but God)(George 27); The Jewish Shema:
Shema Yisrael Adonai Eloheinu Adonai Echad... (Hear Israel
! The Lord our God, the Lord is One);
The Catholic Nicene Creed: We believe in one God... (Catholic Encyclopedia). In the formations
of these religions we can see foreshadowed the current strife and often deadlocked political state
of Israel. The Christian Bible (and thusly the Jewish Torah, which is contained within its Old
Testament) and the Islamic Quran both admonish their readers to respect life and live a life of
love and service to others. In fact, in Surah 5:28 of the Quran Muhammad is quoted as saying You
will surely find that the nearest in affection to those who believe are the ones who say, We are
Christians (George 20). However, despite their undeniable ties, history has left

Analysis Of The Book Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies By...
When thinking of Mexican American immigrants, what comes to mind? The American public
consistently listens to the media telling stories of how these people cross the border illegally,
which is deemed as a crime. Immigrants are portrayed just as stealing American jobs and
benefiting from government programs such as welfare. Countless people think it was a
voluntary action for them to come to the United States, therefore whatever comes their way is
what they deserve regardless if it is health problems, racism or low paying jobs. However, what
most of American people don t realize is that the majority of Mexican migrants are forced to
migrate to the United State in order to survive. They constantly risk their lives to cross a
dangerous border in order to find the jobs that the American people don t want to endure. In the
book called Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies , the author, Seth Holmes focuses on the lives of an
indigenous Mexican group called the Triquis. Throughout the book, he focuses on the journey of
the group from their hometown of Oaxacato farms in California and Washington. The book also
emphasizes how racism and health problems of migrant workers have become invisible to the
American people. It is commonly seen that their personal damage such as health problems and
placement on the social hierarchy system is only to be blamed on their sole decision to come to a
country where they are considered illegal. Instead of blaming the Triqui people for their sickness,

Use Of Lingustic Instruments For Object Oriented Analysis
Title: HOW TO USE LINGUSTIC INSTRUMENTS FOR OBJECT ORIENTED ANALYSIS
SUMMARY: In software engineering today day we are using this object oriented analysis in
many ways and in many places because it makes us easy to understand the code and the concepts
of the project. There are many theories and methodologies came to explain the object oriented
concepts to make it more easier to understand but the none of them explained the concepts of
paradigm in this document the authors came to overcome the paradigm problem. Actually this
object oriented analysis helps the developers to have a clean explanation and to overcome with
the problems faced by the users. Even though it s useful in many ways but it is mostly depended
on the experience of the developer that makes the organizations to use it slow and it is not use
repeatedly and its mostly depended on the experience of the software engineer only, to overcome
this problem the authors came out with the semi formula model which can make the organizations
to run systematically with object oriented concepts this paper discuses about the steps and criteria
to identify the key words of the program in object oriented method to overcome the textual
description problem of the object oriented analysis. Previously the several authors came with
several object oriented paradigms to explain the textual problem but they were not much succeeded
because the most of the people uses the common words of the natural languages for describing the

Effectiveness Of A Competitive Advantage
Increasingly, firms find themselves, either by design or circumstances, operating in business
environments fraught with unprecedented, unparalleled, unrelenting, and largely unpredictable
change. Retaining competitive advantage is a constant preoccupation for all companies.
Millions of words have been written purporting to identify the principles and practices most
likely to enable firms to gain competitive advantage and, thereby, enjoy superior profit margins.
Despite all this study, management remains a testing ground where theory, experience,
judgment and, sometimes, luck play a role. According to Glenn (2009), approximately 90 per
cent of senior executives who took a survey by The Economist s Magazine Intelligence Unit
understand that their organizations have to be agile to thrive in the marketplace. According to
Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary, to be agile is to have a quick, resourceful and
adaptable character (Agile, 2016). Agility has classically been defined as simply the ability to
change direction rapidly (Bloomfield, Ackland, Elliot, 1994; Clarke, 1959; Mathews, 1973), but
also the ability to change direction rapidly and accurately (Barrow McGee, 1971; Johnson
Nelson, 1969). In more recent publications, some authors have defined agility to include whole
body change of direction as well as rapid movement and direction change of limbs (Baechle, 1994;
Draper Lancaster, 1985). Based on many researches done we can define organizational agility as a

  • 2. Special Education Curriculum For Students With Disabilities 1.From your perspective, what exactly, are we talking about when we say special education curriculum ? At first I was a little confused about this question. I was thinking about special education curriculum in the terms of an adaptive curriculum. After reading the articles form this module and locating my own article, special educationcurriculum refers to what educators are doing to make the general education curriculum accessible to students with disabilities. Although there have been many changes related to the education of students with disabilities, there is still a noticeable gap in achievement between students without disabilities and students with disabilities (Aron Loprest, 2012). 2.Describe the legal climate of special education today. How does this climate affect the decisions we make in designing and implementing special education curricula? Provide specific examples. There are many legal issues that arise in the area of special education. During the summer 2015 school term I completed the course Special Education Law. In this course I discovered that litigation regarding the laws of IDEA and Section 504 are on the rise. Parents are more educated of their rights and there are advocates as well as organizations readily available to assist student with disabilities as well as their parents. Some of the topics that can cause legal issues include placement in the least restrictive environment, progress monitoring of goals and objectives and making ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Split Personality Of The Russian National Character Essay Split Personality Of The Russian National Character Russian Empire, USSR, and the smaller states of today, the largest one being Russia itself have had their due share of a very healthy legacy and have been at the forefront of things. Russian Empire was the last largest empire to have survived for so long and when that split up things did not end there. It is a huge piece of land with marked difference in every respect possible. The way they have contributed to the history and made history is simply commendable. One keeps wondering when one sets to read about what is expected and what is due. The history seems intriguing when we start considering the Russian history. The Russiansrepresents a sort of split personality and the way things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Turks were there, controlling a part of it. Be it the Bolsheviks or the Proletariats or the reign of Peter the Great or the defeats at the hands of Napoleon or annihilation of his army or the defeat of German near Stalingrad, some things have stayed the same and in the limelight. They have paid dearly for the things, which they did not even do in the past and secondly they have always been there in their own subtle little way but never as a force to reckon with. Any guesses as to why do that happen? The nation has been growing and building as the earlier parts of the essay suggest. It had a lot of interaction and the growth brought in a lot of people from outside and the races mixed and there were hybrids. So it is not and it never was one nation. There were a lot of nations within that single nation and that is what made it all the more complex. There was no single driving force and there was nothing to unite the. No religion commonality, no language as being the same, even the origins was different. It was bound to happen that the nation would have a split personality and it did have that. There was a lot of dichotomy in the statements made and there was a huge consensus as to how to eliminate the differences but this was something that just was not possibly biologically speaking. Be it music or be it the style of governance or even the type of architecture in the country. They all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Looking For Alibrandi By Melina Marchetta Essay Everyone wants to be in control of their own lives and have a bit of freedom, sadly this doesn t happen for some. I have chosen to look at films, novels and short stories that are to do with being controlled. This includes the novel Looking for Alibrandi written by Melina Marchetta, a short story On the sidewalk bleeding by Evan Hunter and the films The Hunger games directed by Gary Ross and The boy in the striped pyjamas directed by Mark Herman. In the novel Looking For Alibrandi , Josie who is an Italian girl deals with her traumas of everyday life. Since her family is Italian she has a traditional event called Tomato Day which is where the community comes together to bottle tomatoes. Josie always complains about how boring Tomato Day is and tries to explain to her Nonna that she is getting older and more mature so she should be allowed to be like any ordinary teenage girl. Josie s Nonna is a very strict and controlling woman and is always saying that Josie s mother Christina is not fit to parent Josie because she isn t strict enough. In the novel we can clearly state that Josie feels like she has no freedom especially with her Nonna in her life. A quote that tells us this is, I ll run one day. Run for my life. To be free and think for myself....I ll run to be emancipated. When Nonna finds out that Josie gets an Australian boyfriend she is very disappointed with Josie s choice. This is because Italians are very involved and judgemental people and Nonna doesn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Similar Themes in A Rose for Emily, The Garden Party, and... Short stories often have various underlying themes and meanings to them and can often be compared to other stories to find those same meanings. Occasionally, you need to dig deeper to find these hidden meanings. The three short stories, A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner, The Garden Party by Katherine Mansfield, and Everyday Use by Alice Walker all share some similar themes and ideas that require some digging to uncover and bring to the surface. The main analysis this essay with cover is comparing how the three stories discuss and express class and heritage, as well as how death can cause people to not only think things in a different way but also how death can open your eyes to something you never would have seen otherwise. Another thing that is potentially easily missed is how each of the individuals writing styles and backgrounds affect the ground work of the stories and how they progress. The first of the three stories is called A Rose for Emily (Faulkner, 1993). It is a story focused around Emily Grierson and the author divides the story into 5 parts or sections. The story has a narrator that goes nameless for the entirety of the story. In section one of A Rose for Emily (Faulkner, 1993) the narrator is recalling the death of Emily Grierson and how the collective group of towns folk attend the funeral, which is located in her home. It also talks about how after the death of Emily s father that the mayor of the town at the time suspended Emily s tax responsibilities ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Establishing Good Relationships Between Teachers And Students ESTABLISHING GOOD RELATIONSHIPS Teaching is a job which involves constant interaction and communication between teachers and students. In order for communication to be effective, it is important that a good relationship exists between the two parties. Since the role of the teacher plays a major factor in student learning (Effect size = 0.93) according to Hattie (2013), it is vital that a positive relationship occurs. Equally important are the relationships a student has with his class peers. If students feel safe and comfortable in their learning environment, they are more willing to take risks and interact with others, which only improves the quality of learning that takes place. Therefore, I always try to foster a healthy atmosphere in my classes. The first thing I do as a teacher, starting on the opening school day and reinforced from then on, is to establish a culture of respect. This is one of my class expectations and usually there is a poster up to remind everyone that respect for oneself and each other is paramount. It is only once that is established that positive communication and relationship building can occur. It is generally believed that the components of healthy relationships are communication, trust, respect and love (Townsend, 2014). Clearly, after establishing a line of communication, and ensuring an environment of respect, trust is the next issue that I work on. • 8. Effective Communication Within Work Place Effective Communication within Work Place Personal experience could not been completed without coming across lack of effective communication skills within the military. The perception I have about the military was that military has never been a profession, but a National services provider. All this was a result of lack of effective communication within work place. Communication is about more than just exchanging information. It is about understanding the emotion and intentions behind the information. Effective communication is also a two way street. It is not only how you convey a message so that it is received and understood by someone in exactly the way you intended. It is also how you listen to gain the full meaning of what is being said and to make the other person feel heard and understood. Thesis: Effective communication within work place could be achieved with effective good listening skills that eliminate barriers to effective communication and providing feedback. Barriers to effective communication Lack of focus You cannot communicate effectively when you are planning what you are going to say next, daydreaming, checking text message, or thinking about something else. This is one the personal experience I noticed in the military. However, in today s world of social network our NCOs are facing some challenges of competing against the social media. Egyptian force in the Arab world stems from the strength of its cultural life which makes it extremely difficult to be ignored. The book, Egypt under Mubarak features essays from seven different authors, which examine the causes and consequences of the many crises Egypthas faced. Mubarak comes into power taking upon himself the previous Egyptian political, sociological, and economic problems left by Sadat and Nasser. The book touches on topics with a broad range from politics to economy to geography. The book is solely based on research of the Egyptian government from the time when Mubarak took power, 1981, up until the writing of the book which was in 1989. Throughout the book, 16 books are cited. Even though the book is based on the government under Mubarak, the writers refer to events that were held before Mubarak was put into power which helps the reader understand the important history behind the present. After each chapter, there are bibliographies as well as endnotes in some chapters listing the sources used in the passage. Except for the Chapter on the National Debt where his previous statements based on The Central Bank of Egypt, Cairo contradicts his final assessment of the sum. The writers of each section always tend to agree with the sources that they have cited. With this known, I was able to see that the writers in each chapter took into account the other writings of scholars that wrote on similar topics. Because of the writers many sources, they are able to give an unbiased look into the history of the Egyptian Government. • 10. Motivate, Delegate and Empower AC 2.2 Review own ability to motivate, delegate and empower others For any business to be successful it needs motivated employees. They are the single most important factor in the long term success of an organisation. Empowerment refers to the employee s feeling of being effective, in control and influential. Furthermore, empowerment positively impacts motivation, and motivation leads to better performance. Maslow s hierarchy of needs provides a foundational theory. It states that all employees have some basic needs that must first be satisfied in order to provide the framework for further motivation and empowerment. There are five levels in the hierarchy: * Physiological needs * Safety and security needs * Love or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Herzberg showed that to truly motivate an employee a business needs to create conditions that make him or her feel fulfilled in the workplace. Delegation is one of the most important management skills as it empowers the team member to make decisions. However, the person who delegated the work remains accountable for the outcome of the delegated work. Delegation can save money and time, help in building skills, and motivate people. Poor delegation, on the other hand, might cause frustration and confusion to all the involved parties. Tannenbaum amp; Schmidt defined 7 levels of delegated freedom which moves from manager oriented to subordinate oriented. As the team develops, the area of freedom for the subordinate increases and the need for the manager s intervention decreases. Within my team I have tried to improve motivation through several initiatives: One member of my team seemed to be becoming disillusioned with her role and so I spent some time with her trying to establish the root cause of this. Having asked several questions I established that she felt bored with her daily routine and wanted a fresh challenge. I took notes of our meeting and produced a plan with her which involved a gradual phasing in of more duties and a greater involvement in decision ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. John Davis Life Extension Essay In Is It Unjust to Develop Life Extension if It Will Not Be Possible to Provide It to Everyone? , John Davis argues on the fact on whether or not we should develop life extension if it won t bet fairly distributed amongst our society. Davis believes that the rich will most likely have access to life extension before the poor, which creates the issue of unequal access to life extension. In this essay, I will be siding with Davis argument, as there should be no reason to develop and research life extension if we cannot make it available to everyone at once. John Davis believes that life extension would be too expensive to those who cannot afford it when it comes to repayment. In addition, Davis also states that being excluded from life extension ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, I would have to stand with Davis support in delaying life extension, as it will take a long period of time to develop and allocate life extension around the world equally. Being able to take advantage of life extension would lead us into to the inability to repay the efforts that were put into researching and developing life extension. For example, if we were able to take out a loan for life extension, then the time in life we have to repay for life extension would also increase. Life extension would also worsen our death, then it would better our death, as we are harmed comparatively on impending death. When you anticipate your future death to be in your early nineties, it may not sound as bad when there is no life extension available, but when you see a wealthy person live into their hundreds with life extension, it will make your death sound worse off if you died in your nineties. We have to delay the development and access to life extension until we can find a way to distribute life extension evenly between the have and have nots in our society. For example, the cost of technology in our world becomes cheaper overtime when there are competitors who developing the same technology. The Apple iPhone and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although the book takes place in 1984, it was written in 1949. At the time, the soviet union had it s rise, with Joseph Stalin as a main character. A man who was and is known for his dictatorship and inhumane leadership. The purpose of this analysis is to show how the themes of the novel are loosely based on the events in the soviet union, and the similarities between the world of big brother and Joseph Stalin s communistic leadership. Nobody has ever seen Big Brother. He is a face on the hoardings, a voice on the telescreen. We may be reasonably sure that he will never die, and there is already considerable uncertainty as to when he was born. The plot of 1984 is created around the myth of Big Brother. This was a way of controlling the people, by having their mind in control and to expose those who were in the opposition. • 15. The Effects Of Alcohol On The Drinking Culture Of America Throughout the eighteen hundreds saloons were the site of rockus drinking, profane drunkards, and unthinking violence. This drinking culture was defined by masculinity and by free flowing alcohol that permeated all throughout America, city to city. The saloons became so popular with working men because it was time they could spend away from their wives and their homes. In Catherine Murdock s book Domesticating Drink she argues that these elements of saloon culture, exclusivity, inebriety, and violence, were eliminated by the increase in popularity of mixed sex speakeasies, cocktail parties, and the overall domestication of drink. But this conclusion misinterprets the history of alcohol from Prohibition to the present. Although alcohol is now consumed without the exclusively of the past, it has evolved to be over sexualized and associated with a masculine culture of binge drinkingover sexualized and domestic violence. The domestication of drink did allow women to integrate into the drinking cultureof America and allowed women to join the drinking population if they choose to drink. Murdock was correct in saying that the exclusivity of the all male saloon culture crumbled in the nineteen teens and onwards into the twenties, thirties, and forties. One of the most important transitions was that alcohol became far more prevalent in the household setting (165). The rise of cocktail parties gave women an opportunity to drink that was softened feminized enough to remove its most ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Under the control of Hitler from 1918 1939 Poland was under serious attack. Concentration camps were being constructed and Poles were possible targets because, at the time, Poland was home to the worlds largest Jewish population (Polish Diaspora). In 1939 Poland was invaded by Germany and was put under the Soviet Union s control. One cultural aspect Poles like to exercises is their right to freedom and to be different, but under the rule of the USSR it was very hard to express ones individuality and religion. Communism called for unionism and the Poles disliked this way of life. This lack of personal freedom handicapped the Polish culture, not allowing it to grow because many Poles were not known as wealthy. Because Poland was lacking in artistic culture Paris became their center for literacy and artistic expression (Barnett, 374). Many feared for their lives around this time and fled to America in the 20 s, allowing for the spread of Polish values over seas. This is the main cause of the Polish diaspora because many of the Poles immigrating to America were Jewish (Polish Diaspora). During the communist reign a particular group, not like the Jewish Polish community, of people called the Lemko s had ritual and folk dances that could not be performed because they feared the government would catch them and punish them like they were to the Jewish Poles(Black, 47). This event was one of the programs of the Witness Palestine Film Festival sponsored by Christian Witnessing for Palestine. After the screening, the audience had a chance to ask questions of the director, Udi Aloni, through Skype. Junction 48 is a 2016 film directed by Aloni, an Israeli and American filmmaker. A large number of Arabs were shot to death, including civilians, by Israeli soldiers (Shavit, 2013). In July 1948, Prime Minister David Ben Gurion required dispossession of all the Palestinians in Lydda (Shavit, 2013). About 19,000 of the 20,000 Palestinian inhabitants were forced to migrate (Munayyer, 2012). Now Lydda is called Lod, and about 25 percent of the residents are Arabs (Martin, 2013). This Jewish Arab mixed city has poor public safety (Martin, 2013). The Arab Israeli conflict displaced 750,000 Palestinians, and they are still not allowed to return to their home (AFSC, n.d.) . About 1.6 million Israeli Arabs (Abdalla, 2012), in Lod, have citizenships of Israel, but they don t have the equal rights to Jewish people. (BBC, 2009). Analysis of the Film This chapter analyzes Junction 48 in terms of two points: whether Israeli Arabs can be included in a common type of force migrants, and whether culture can be the reason for refugees to return. First, before considering the case of Israeli Arabs, those typical types of forced migrants should be clarified; refugees are those who fled their country of origin and because they fear being persecuted for a good reason such as race and religion; asylum seekers are those who have made a journey abroad to get a refugee status but whose application has not adopted; internally displaced persons (IDPs) are those who have been compelled to leave their homes with other residents ... Females can hold a conversation on the phone for hours and not run out of things to say, beginning from gossip, to chattering about crushes, then on continuing to compliment each other for supportive reasons, later comes down to being called the word Thick . Females sometimes don t realize how much we need us women in each other s life. For instance, we require each other for support, love, and the basic everyday drama which include going through menstrual cycles that men naturally can t comprehend. On the other hand, males can barely last an hour when holding a conversation on the phone. Male conversations are usually more of a straight forward approach, they say what they discuss what they need to discuss and dismiss the conversation. Money, sex, drugs, and not to mention sports of all things is usually the topic on a day to day basis as I ve grown up all my life in a male household. • 23. Fibromyalgia Definition In a literal translation fibromyalgia means muscle fiber pain. It is a chronic pain disorder that causes pain and tenderness in the muscle to the touch. By affecting the way your brain processes pain signals, researchers believe that fibromyalgia amplifies those sensations. Robert Bennett MD, explains that different parts of the brain are involved in painreactions. Pain sensation is necessary; it serves as a reflex to avoid discomfort. This unconscious reflex of avoidance causes the brain to swiftly react, before the actual awareness of the pain sensation occurs. This chronic disorder causes widespread body pain, fatigue, tension headache, digestive problems, depression, anxiety and temporomandibular joint disorder. • 25. Machiavelli s Role In Political Philosophy This paper presents the role played by political philosophy in the development of political science and political theory. The writer argues that political philosophy served as the foundation in the development of political theory and political science, and that the shifts in theory and practice have legitimized the importance of political philosophy. The writer uses examples in arguing how political philosophys role was crucial in the development of political theory and in turn, political science. Likewise, the status of political philosophy along with the shifts in theory and practice is also discussed. Political science is a discipline, an art, and a branch of instruction or study which deals with the systems of government while later developing to also cover the study of political phenomena and political behavior of people (Goodin Klingemann, 1998). Before this, Beowulf s welcoming party was met with an ill mannered warrior judging Beowulf on his status, in which during this event he calmly stated his previous exploits in childhood were of desperation and loyalty to each other, and afterwards getting approval and renown unexpectedly from Hrothgar. One other example of fighting an inner demon is located in stanza eight, That shepherd of evil, guardian of crime, knew at once that nowhere on Earth had he met a man whose hands were harder. An Old Man With Enormous Wings, By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Gabriel Garcia Marquez s short story An old man with enormous wings written in 1955 discusses an old man who is found by two villagers named Pelayo and Elisenda in their courtyard. This particular man is described as an old, poor man, with enormous wings, who speaks an incomprehensible dialect with a strong sailor s voice (451). Many people think he is angel as the neighbor woman said: he s an angel, he must have being coming for the child (Pelayo and Elisenda s newborn baby who had been sick) but the poor fellow is so old that the rain knocked him down (452). Others like Father Gonzaga think he is someone sent by the devil because he did not understand the language of god or how to greet the minister (452). The doctor thinks he is a human like everyone else but what surprises him more was that why other men didn t have wings like him (455). The movies try to depict the life of a penguin and the struggles that they deal with. In both cases the audience is going to walk away thinking that they have received this. However, March of the Penguins is a genuine display of a penguin s life while Happy Feet feeds us a happy cartoon. Another thing to consider here is the audience that might be attending each film. In this case a child is going to be much more pleased with Happy Feet for obvious reasons, while an adult might enjoy the experience of knowing how a penguin actually lives in the wild. It is an act that is taking place in front of the camera and just being captured. There are usually no special effects and no one is manipulating the scene. While it is very sad, it is nature taking its course with no human intervention and regardless if it was captured or not this egg would still have frozen while the parent looked on helplessly. These are not people waddling around in costumes or a special effects egg that is made to represent the real thing, it is real life. There is no recreating or acting out a moment like this which is why this is easily viewed as a realist film. That is where mise en scene comes into play. Everything that you do see is without a doubt real and not a constructed set. They didn t just kill penguins to throw on camera and they didn t bring in stuffed ones either. They simply recorded what they saw and found. Everything from the blistering cold winds to the layers upon layers of snow dropped upon the enormous flock of birds is authentic. Even the lighting and sounds around them is what the crew is forced to work with, no one on this earth can change a blizzard just because they want to get a better shot for a movie. Oliver Twists s Fagin as a Character for Whom the Audience has Considerable Sympathy Oliver Twist was the second novel of Charles Dickens. It was initially published in monthly instalments that began in February of 1837 and ended in April of 1939. The book has been criticised for anti Semitism since Fagin is frequently referred to as the Jew . At the time many Jews, who had fled to England from persecution abroad, were so discriminated against by the law that they became travelling salesmen and stallholders. This illustrates that he is very proud of the children he has brought up to be pickpockets. However, in reality we know that bringing up small boys to steal is something to be frowned upon. Certainly, this shows Fagin is swollen with pride with things of no worth. Fagin is seen as a child abuser when we examine the way he treats the boys in the den. He allows children of a young age to smoke long clay pipes, and drink spirits with the air of middle age men . This gives the impression that the boys are being robbed of their youth at a very young age. Without a doubt, a humane person would not strip the youngsters of their childhood. There were key study findings from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that found that U.S. birth rates for adolescents vary considerably by race and Hispanic origin (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2011). Thus, this provides even more clear evidence on the difference of ethnic/racial groups. The American public consistently listens to the media telling stories of how these people cross the border illegally, which is deemed as a crime. Immigrants are portrayed just as stealing American jobs and benefiting from government programs such as welfare. Countless people think it was a voluntary action for them to come to the United States, therefore whatever comes their way is what they deserve regardless if it is health problems, racism or low paying jobs. However, what most of American people don t realize is that the majority of Mexican migrants are forced to migrate to the United State in order to survive. In the book called Fresh Fruit, Broken Bodies , the author, Seth Holmes focuses on the lives of an indigenous Mexican group called the Triquis. Throughout the book, he focuses on the journey of the group from their hometown of Oaxacato farms in California and Washington. The book also emphasizes how racism and health problems of migrant workers have become invisible to the American people. Use Of Lingustic Instruments For Object Oriented Analysis Title: HOW TO USE LINGUSTIC INSTRUMENTS FOR OBJECT ORIENTED ANALYSIS SUMMARY: In software engineering today day we are using this object oriented analysis in many ways and in many places because it makes us easy to understand the code and the concepts of the project. There are many theories and methodologies came to explain the object oriented concepts to make it more easier to understand but the none of them explained the concepts of paradigm in this document the authors came to overcome the paradigm problem. Actually this object oriented analysis helps the developers to have a clean explanation and to overcome with the problems faced by the users. Even though it s useful in many ways but it is mostly depended on the experience of the developer that makes the organizations to use it slow and it is not use repeatedly and its mostly depended on the experience of the software engineer only, to overcome this problem the authors came out with the semi formula model which can make the organizations to run systematically with object oriented concepts this paper discuses about the steps and criteria to identify the key words of the program in object oriented method to overcome the textual description problem of the object oriented analysis. Previously the several authors came with several object oriented paradigms to explain the textual problem but they were not much succeeded because the most of the people uses the common words of the natural languages for describing the ... Effectiveness Of A Competitive Advantage Increasingly, firms find themselves, either by design or circumstances, operating in business environments fraught with unprecedented, unparalleled, unrelenting, and largely unpredictable change. Retaining competitive advantage is a constant preoccupation for all companies. Millions of words have been written purporting to identify the principles and practices most likely to enable firms to gain competitive advantage and, thereby, enjoy superior profit margins. Despite all this study, management remains a testing ground where theory, experience, judgment and, sometimes, luck play a role. According to Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary, to be agile is to have a quick, resourceful and adaptable character (Agile, 2016). Agility has classically been defined as simply the ability to change direction rapidly (Bloomfield, Ackland, Elliot, 1994; Clarke, 1959; Mathews, 1973), but also the ability to change direction rapidly and accurately (Barrow McGee, 1971; Johnson Nelson, 1969). In more recent publications, some authors have defined agility to include whole body change of direction as well as rapid movement and direction change of limbs (Baechle, 1994; Draper Lancaster, 1985). Based on many researches done we can define organizational agility as a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
