Analysis Of The Movie 7 Series
7 Up series was created because the director wanted to show the world that a group of children could
make a better nation. To be honest, 7 up series got my attention because recording fourteen people
lives every seven years means a lot of work and dedication. Moreover, I feel that this series was
created mostly to entertain the public all over the world which makes me feel concerned about all the
characters involved. 7 up characters had the responsibility to show the world that you can succeed no
matter your background. Also, I perceive this series played an important role to initiate reality TV
shows. The 7 up series was famous worldwide that even Asia imitated it. Overall, the main reason this
film was created was to have a glimpse of the future of England, which I found absurd because an
entire nation is not defined by short film based on fourteen children.
One of the advantages that you can appreciate from this film is that ambitions and life in general are
not stable at all; however, personality and character traits tend to remain the same. The disadvantage
that these characters had was that they didn t have the opportunity to choose if they wanted to be part
of the program or not. These children exposed their personal and professional lives to the entire world.
There were scenes in the film where the characters looked sentimental and uncomfortable, and the
director kept recording. I found that really annoying and disrespectful because they invaded the
characters

St. John s Wort Research Paper
Amazing Benefits of St. John s Wort
Millions of people suffer from depression, and a lot of those choose not to treat their depression with
traditional medicine, instead reaching for a natural alternative. Dietary supplements are becoming
more and more popular instead of using drugs to treat numerous medical problems, and depression,
anxiety, and panic attacks are no different. When a supplement can treat depression as well as help
with other medical concerns, it can quickly become popular. If you suffer from any of these problems
and want to try to treat yourself without turning to a medical doctor for traditional medication, read on
to find out more about St. John s wort and how millions of people are using it to naturally treat
themselves.
Signs of Depression Depression is complicated and can manifest in a variety of physical and
behavioral symptoms. The way that one person s depression manifests may be quite different from
how other person s does. It s important to remember that if you think you may be depressed you need
to visit your doctor. People who are depressed may experience sadness, mood swings, a loss of interest
in activities, and general discontent. They may have problems sleeping and may lose or gain a lot of
weight in a short period of time. Behavior may change as well, with ... Show more content on

John s wort grows prolifically throughout the United States, easily identified by its yellow flowers.
Many countries consider it to be a weed as it is so invasive. Consumption of large doses by livestock
can cause nervous system depression, abortion, and even photosensitization and death, however
people all over the world have used it in medicine for thousands of years. Studies are being performed
on its ability to treat depression and other medical problems, and, amazingly, some have shown it to
be just as effective in treating depression as medical antidepressants. It has few side effects for
humans, but can react with certain

Race Riots In The 1960s
African Americans have overcome multiple struggles within American society. Race brutality has
been a major battle for African Americans to fight against. There have been many race riots
throughout history that have influenced future actions towards African Americans. The anti African
American was a process of assimilation for immigrants who felt that being against African Americans
was a way to adopt the values of the dominant American culture and to be seen as American and not
as an immigrant. One way to adopt the values of the dominant culture was to believe in racial
segregation. The idea of immigrant groups to be anti African American, to become American,
illustrates the pressure and societal oppression African Americans faced during ... Show more content

Frye responded to the officers by arguing with them for arresting him for drunk driving. Frye and the
officer were in a heated debate which led to Officer Minikus pulling out his baton. The officer
responded with the usual procedure by sending out a code 1199 Officer Needs Help over the radio.
The other officer on the scene, Officer Bennett, pushed back the crowed with his shotgun and the
crowd moved back as Minikus and Frye struggled for control of the baton. In a few short moments,
more officers responded to the 1199 call and Officer Wayne Wilson reacted immediately by
dispatching baton blows to the stomach and ribs of Frye s brother Ronald and his mother who were
fighting back against the officers. The entire family was arrested and the scene seemed quiet as more
officers arrived to disperse the crowd. However, after the Frye family was taken away, Officer Vaughn
felt someone spit upon him and he and other officers dragged a young women who was wearing

A Brief Note On Korean War Veterans Memorial
Korean War Veterans Memorial
In 1985, the former members of the U.S. armed forces, who served in the Korean War, made a union
to build a memorial for the Korean War. The U.S. congress authorized the American Battle
Monuments Commission to build a memorial in Washington D.C. to honor the U.S. soldiers in 1986.
After the fund raising, the Memorial construction began in 1993 and it was completed in 1995. To
build the memorial, 18 million dollars was funded and five million dollars of a total cost was assisted
from the Korean companies. For the 42nd anniversary of the armistice, that ended the Korean War,
and celebrating the visit of South Korea s President, Young sam, Kim, unveiling event was held on
July 27. (두산백과, )
The memorial is a circle intersected by a triangle. In a triangle field, 19 stainless steel statues are in a
squad on patrol, representing each branch of the U.S. armed forces: Air Force, Army, Marines, and
Navy. They are portrayed from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, and their windblown ponchos mean
the harsh weather of Korea. On the side of the statues, 22 countries of the United Nations that sent
troops or gave medical support are listed. On the south side, a black granite wall, which intermingles
the images of the faces, is standing. The faces are based on actual photographs of unidentified U.S.
soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. At the Pool of Remembrance, a small part of a circle, numbers
of people who killed, wounded, held prisoner of war are

Sociology Arranged Marriage
Is there real love existing in an arranged marriage? Are arranged marriages successful in the long
term? These are some questions that many people think about before entering one. But, what exactly is
an arranged marriage? According to New World Encyclopedia, an arranged marriage is, a marriage
which involves the parents in a process of selecting marriage partners for their children, with or
without the help of a matchmaker. (New World Encyclopedia) (show visual). You don t hear the term
arranged marriage quite often here in North America. Why? Well, mainly because it s rare in this part
of the world. Where it is common though is in the Middle East. They have strong cultural traditions

One of my sources titled, Confluence of Influence: Indian American Youths Perception, Negotiation,
and Transformation of Arranged Marriage Traditions in Modern American Society, written by Dianne
Laura Fabii, talked about the opinions of second generation Indian American youth on arranged
marriages (show visual). Their parents, grandparents, and past generations all had one, but since they
are growing up in the United States, a western country where individualism and freedom are highly
valued, they decided that the tradition will not apply to their futures (Fabii, 2017). In addition, I came
upon an article which was a real life story rather than a collection of data. It was from National Public
Radio written by Jamie Tarabay, titled, Arranged Marriage: Trapped Between Two Cultures. It focused
on a 25 year old female named Mediha Sandhu (show visual) who is dealing with her parents wanting
her to move to Pakistan to have an arranged marriage, as opposed to her wanting to stay in New
Jersey. The article dives deep into her story and explains her feeling trapped between two completely
different cultures. Sandhu is afraid of losing her freedom and identity, and how she won t be able to
express herself the way she is doing currently, because she is being forced to move back to a country
where women are seen as unimportant and simply useful for being a housewife (Tarabay,

Similarities Between Antwone Fisher And Fences
Defeating Battles In August Wilson s play, Fences, Bono says, Some people build fences to keep
people out... and other people build fences to keep people in (Wilson 61). Due to past experiences,
many people keep their anger inside and alienate the people they are close to. For example, Troy, in
Fences, experiences a rough childhood while growing up. This is brought about due to neglect by his
father. Because of this, Troy makes the decision to isolate the people who are close to him. Troy has
an affair with Alberta; therefore, he alienates Rose, his wife. Similarly, in the film Antwone Fisher, the
main character, Antwone is sexually abused in his foster home. Antwone is afraid to be in a
relationship with Cheryl because he feels he cannot allow anyone into his inner sanctum. The young,
male protagonists in both the film Antwone Fisher and the play Fences share a connection in that they

Because of the hard conflicts in Troy s life, it shaped how he was treating Rose. Alberta helps Troy
escape from the real world. Troy avoided his responsibility towards Rose, repeats the same mistakes
of his father, and later dies from a heart attack . In comparison, Antwone went through a series of
counselling to help him come to terms with the past. As Davenport helped him move on with his life;
he reinforces the meaning of the word forgiveness, which means, Regard without ill will despite an
offense... (Antwone.n.pag.). This concept is something Troy was not taught in his adulthood, which
caused him to act the way he does. He does not conquer the past and deal through the issues of his
childhood. Antwone Fisher achieved a healthy lifestyle with the help of Davenport and is, therefore,

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Character Analysis Essay
You wouldn t shoot a lady, would you? the grandmother said and removed a clean handkerchief from
her cuff and began to slap her eyes with it (O Connor 88). The Misfit pointed the tip of his shoe into
the ground and made a little hole and then covered it up again. I would hate to have to, he said
(paragraph 89). The Grandmother is one of the major characters in A Good Man is Hard to Find a
short story written by Flannery O Conner in 1955. Throughout the story the grandmother shows
evidence of personality disorders, emotionlessness, and controlling character traits. It s the
grandmother s lack of self awareness about these characteristics that leads to the death of the family.

To Be or Not to Be
Term Paper Outline:
To be or not to be.... For most it leaves no question as to who wrote these infamous words. William
Shakespeare is regarded by some as the greatest author within all of the English language. Regardless
of one s true opinion of Shakespeare s writings, they continue to cycle their way from one generation
to the next. His works still hold significant value within all levels of academic teachings. Shakespeare
s literatures range from poems and plays to sonnets. Once he gathered the notion of how the style of
blank verse operated, he began to cultivate it into something unique and one he could call his very
own. His latest works was that of sonnets, in which were found to be the last of his non dramatic

Shakespeare gives the mirror the ability to reflect not just an image, but also, the truth. Thus, paving
the way in the personification of the glass mirror found in Sonnet 62. Now seeing the reality of it all
he questions who and what he was praising all along. Surprised at the vanity, he saw a change must
occur. Shakespeare tells a story of human perception, human nature, and its desire to long for
everything we are not. Here in sonnet 62, one finds the main character in visioning something he is
not and loses all direct grasps on reality. Shakespeare tries to convey that it is important not to engulf
ones self with the sin of no humility, yet, remain in touch with reality at all times.
One can conclude by reading Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 that the predominant motif deals with the
course of time. When read aloud the reader can easily compare the pace of the sonnet and the internal
rhyming to that of a ticking clock. Every line is short and steady as it progresses just as the steady
ticking of a clock. In the second line, Shakespeare generates a metaphor in which he compares the life
of a violet to that of one s own life, when I behold the violet past prime and sable curls all silvered o er
with white. Shakespeare pursues the cycle of life in this sonnet with illustrations of nature and
humankind. Just as a flower blooms and a leaf falls likewise, a human is born, reaches its potential,
grows old, and at

Relationship Between United States And Cuba
Trade Between U.S. and Cuba
Zoe McDowell
Randolph Community College
Since 1961, the United States and Cuba have had no relations with one another, and have used
Switzerland as a mediator for the two countries to communicate (Suddath, 2009). This is beginning to
change; the U.S and Cuba did business and trade together long ago, but when the U.S. found that
Cuba allowed the Soviet Union to build missile bases in Cuba, along with other things leading up to
this down fall, all business between the U.S and Cuba came to a halt. On April 13, 2009, President
Barak Obama announced that the United States would lift all restrictions and begin to trade and do
business with Cuba, again (Suddath, 2009). Cuba s current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

relations with Cuba would be possible again, the Cuban citizens were hopeful that their access to
better and more advances technology would be possible, as well (Silva, 2015). In Cuba, online access
will cost about five dollars an hour, which is more than what most Cuban citizens make in one week
(Silva, 2015). In more recent years, Cubans have started to use more advanced technology and
equipment such as, smart phones, laptops, Blackberry handsets, and some Android devices. The
advancements in Cuba are far behind the United States because many of the technological advances
that we have in the United States are very simple to retrieve; in Cuba, they are harder. Trade and doing
business with Cuba could cause legal issues due to the issues that they may have with certain
products, due to their culture and government rulings. Since the government in Cuba is Communist,
most of the decisions are made by the government. Culture plays a big role in the products that people
use in other countries, and this could cause future issues with doing business in Cuba for the U.S. In
conclusion, the United States is far more advanced with technology and many other

After the recent 29% increase in revenue over the past year, there are opportunities to take into
consideration that will boost this growth for the fourth quarter. This company should join the industry

E mailing could possibly have a small effect on this industry, but this is not an option for most
deliverable items, as well as legal documents. Depending on the urgency of a package being delivered,
regular mailing systems propose a small threat on this industry. It obviously costs less, but it doesn t
compare at all to the convenience of express delivery services. Buyer Power: The major consumers in
this industry are basically anyone who intends on sending a package or letter to someone urgently or
with the most convenience. It seems as if businesses use this industry the most, considering the
importance of delivering and receiving products and other necessities to keep a company stable and on
top of their game. Because there is barely any differentiation in this industry, it allows customers to
easily shop around for the best prices. This raises price sensitivity and gives the consumer more
customer power. Barriers to Entry: The threat of new entries in this industry is equally low as the
threat of substitutes. There are few major players involved here, and it shows that for a new one to
even exist they would need to have the capability of covering a large amount of cities in the United
States. In order to have a main convenient center of business, as well as aircraft and an extensive
amount of vehicles calls for a high capital investment. This would be extremely difficult for any new
entries to be accountable for and would take years of hard work and sustainability

Predestination to Choose
Perspectives on Church
Predestined to Choose First, predestination must be defined so that a contrast can be made with free
will. Predestination is the divine foreordaining of all that will happen. Predestination deals with the
question of the control God has over the world, it also refers to the belief that God appointed the
eternal destiny of some (the elect) to salvation by grace, while leaving the remainder (the reprobate) to
receive eternal damnation for all their sins. Free will, However, will be defined to mean a person
which has the ability and awareness to choose whether they will accept Jesus Christ as their Savior or
not. By trying to understand what scripture has to say on free will and predestination, and analyzing
what other theological thinkers say, brings up the question, can one be more accurate than the other?
What we believe as Christians does (and should) affect how we live. How Christians view the
relationship between divine sovereignty and human freedom has a direct bearing on how they respond
to various issues in their lives. For example, [T]he missionary candidate who is having difficulty
raising her support. She may believe God is closing the door to her present plans and leading her in
another direction. ... Another [may] conclude that he is not working hard enough to raise the money

the other. Believing in predestination is the

Food Industry And Its Effects On The Health And Prosperity...
Engineered Food
Technology and industrialization of the food industry have changed how food is grown, and altered its
nutritional value. Multinational organizations are making decisions that affect the health and
prosperity of people worldwide. These organizations have found ingenuous ways of packaging and
marketing unsafe products to the public. Education and awareness of the problems are the only hope
for improving the food industry and the quality of food.
Industrialization of food began with the advent of fast food chains. The McDonald brothers were the
first to introduce assembly line food processing. By assigning each employee one task to perform they
were more efficient, and they paid those employees less than employers who expected an employee to
perform start to finish tasks. The food industry implemented the assembly line approach, quickly
changing how food is processed, and decreasing the pay rate for workers. Meat processing once
regarded as a profession performed by skilled butchers, now it is a highly dangerous job filled by
minority or illegal immigrants willing to take health and deportation risks for a very low wage.
Efficiency and cost drives all bad behavior across the food industry. (Kenner, 2008)

Abstract The purpose of this study was to evaluate hydrolyzed feather meal (HFM) as a substitute for
fish meal (FM) or soybean meal (SBM) in Nile tilapia fry diets. Triplicate groups of fish (initial body
weight 2.30 g ± 0.01) were fed seven isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets formulated to contain 30 %
crude protein and 19.70 kJ g 1 gross energy for 8 weeks. The control diet (CD) contained 22 % local
FM and 30 % SBM, whereas in the other six diets, HFM replaced 33, 66 or 100 % of FM or SBM.
The best weight gain
(11.46), specific growth rate (3.14) and feed conversion ratio (1.24) of tilapia fry fed
SBM33%, CD, FM33% and SBM66% diets were exhibited. Final body weight and protein retention
increased in a linear pattern with increasing amino acids in the experimental diets with the exception
of leucine and valine. The results indicated that good quality HFM can successfully replace FM or
SBM by up to 33 and 66 %, respectively, in Nile tilapia fry diets without compromising growth and
protein utilization. The results also support the benefits of combining different sources of plant and
animal proteins in Nile tilapia diets.

Comparative Religion Essay
Comparative religion is a relatively new discipline in theology. Comparative religion is the branch of
theology that is concerned with the systematic comparison of the different religions of the world. Two
religions that have been at the forefront of media attention in recent years are Islam and Christianity.
These two religions have been constantly criticized by individuals who may have some knowledge of
these religions, but have not dove into the depths to fully understand the origins and beliefs of these
two very different religions. Before one can make claims and judgments on religions one must know
the origin and belief systems of the religion.

Nietzsche s Partial Rebuttal Of The Birth Of Tragedy
That being said, I argue that we should understand Nietzsche s partial rebuttal of The Birth of Tragedy
as a development of his former positions about Metaphysics. For sure his idiosyncracies with the term
have grown over the years: at this stage, metaphysics simply tends to be employed just in a negative
way, often describing what falls into the cauldron of Platonic Christian Ressentiment. Nonetheless, we
should not let a shift in terms of vocabulary mislead us. Once more, the problem for Nietzsche is not
metaphysics as such, but just the values embodied by a particular metaphysics . This finds evidence in
that, while he rejects the metaphysics of the duality of Apollo and Dionysus, in the late Nietzsche art
still enjoys a crucial role.

The Progressive Era lasted from 1890 to 1920. Progressivism was a response to social problems that
arose in industrial America. The people believed these problems could be addressed by providing a
good education, a safe environment, and an efficient workplace. College educators and others
progressives believed that government could effectively change these conditions. This site was
something of a dead end. ⁷ The next site, Digital History, went on to further explain how The
Progressive Era increased wages, eliminated child labor, extended high school education, and was
responsible for building playgrounds and recreational areas. This connects to Pajeau s belief in play,
education, and creativity. ⁵ Next, I went to America s Best History site to find more detail about what
was happening at this time. I learned that in 1914 the basic wage rate was increased by the Ford Motor
Company. At Ford, workers would now work for $5 per 8 hour workday versus the $2.40 per 9 hour
workday that they used to earn. This meant that parents could begin to afford toys for their children,

Government And Sports Analysis
Government and sports go hand in hand in many ways it s really surprising how much these two
drastically different industries use each other to develop and gain many different advantages. The
author mentions seven ways the government and sports are connected of the seven I believe
safeguarding public order and promote identity and unity are the two ideas that I think are most
identifiable around the sports world today.
Firstly, safeguarding the public order has become vitally important especially now with the attacks
across the world in recent years and because sporting events are so popular they ve become more
vulnerable to an attack therefore security measures have been heightened and will continue to be.

Safety is the most important aspect of any event because of this the Chinese government spent up to
6.5 billion dollars to police and monitor the 2008 Olympics in Beijing (Coakley, 2017, p.409). This is
a logical correlation because these two industries benefit each other greatly so it s vitally important
that the public feel safe at something where the ultimate goal is to have fun and support your country
or favorite team.
Secondly, promoting identity and unity creates a big correlation between sports and government
because the as the textbook says people identify so strongly with sports that government officials use
their money to support something so positively represented. Government involvement in sports helps
the government officials reputation and in many cases gets support for their ideas about how to
improve the lives of their citizens because the government took an interest in something that so many

about specific attacks and system vulnerabilities. It uses this knowledge to exploit the attacks and

Therefore the accuracy of knowledge based intrusion detection systems is considered good. However

knowledge based approaches there is the need for frequent updates to keep up with the stream of new

Soldiers Home Ernest Hemingway Essay
Signs of the PTSR in the Soldier s Home by Ernest Hemingway
The Soldier s Home is a short story written by Ernest Hemingway. Its plot focuses on Harold Krebs, a
young man, who returned to his home in Oklahoma after two years participation in the World War I.
This experience affected Harold and disturbed his full integration into the civil life. The end of the
story shows signs of improvement in Krebs s condition, as the man finally decides to find a job. But
this changes are shallow the character stayed withdrawal and did not demonstrate a strong wish to
participate in common activities of the civil life. It is possible to suggest the man suffered from the
Post traumatic stress disorder caused by the war. While Harold s behavior did not correspond fully to
the aspect of this disease, Hemingway s description of his actions and attitude includes some
symptoms of the PTSD.
This complex disorder causes a wide arrange of symptoms, which are broken down into different
categories. Harold did not demonstrate any of the active signs of the PTSD: the man was not
aggressive; he did not have hallucinations, nightmares or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of them were caused by a necessity to lie and exaggerate to make people listen him
(Hemingway 1). Evidences of the man s negative thoughts appeared in the scene, where Krebs read
the book: He had been a good soldier (Hemingway 3). It looked like the character thought differently
about his war experience, and it was the text that helped to change his point of view. It is impossible to
claim Krebs was totally hopeless about his future: it looked like the man just did not start to think
about this issue. But it is obvious the character did not care too much about his future life: he would
gladly continue to maintain his passive daily regimen, if it was not for his parents criticism. So, while
Krebs did not give up completely, he was not reliant on his future life

The Problem Of Food Insecurity Essay
Food insecurity has been affecting the US population as about more than 23 million Americans,
including 6.5 million children, live in low income urban and rural neighborhoods that are more than a
mile from a supermarket. These communities are much known since they lack access to affordable,
nutritious food. Vault and healthy food should be affordable; policy or a plan that would improve our
food supply or the health of the population should be put into consideration in order to enhance the
American population s public health.
It is known that food insecurity is one of the major issues in the United States. Politicians have a great
role to reform and speak for the rights of those who do not have a voice. Towns play an important role
in providing access to healthy and affordable food. Establishing a food Security Council may offer lots
of help; and by nominating representatives to speak and consider all the issues, discuss them, and
decide on what s best for the public. This law may enhance and improve in order to fight obesity in
children and adolescents.
Researchers and experts who have their underlying foundations running somewhere down in the battle
against craving are endeavoring day by day and looking for resolutions to these issues. Legislative and
non administrative offices have joined to give help and administrations to families and people needing
sustenance and safe spots to devour a sound dinner. Answers for closure this plague are centered

Benefits Of Aloe Vera
We all know, plants are very important for every one of us living here in this world. It is impossible to
anyone else that could live without it. We could not live not having any of it. All of its parts are meant
to be used by us. It is in our own decision on how we should use it properly.
Plants have many benefits that we can get from it. One of these is as medicinal purposes. Since then it
is been the source by the ancient people for their medicine. It is as old as civilization and throughout
history it is been used as traditional folk remedy. Technology was not yet invented that is why plants

Most of the plants are medicinal that we can use as alternative medicine. One of these is aloe Vera.
Aloe Vera is used as remedy for burns, inflammation and other skin ailments.
The most widely known species is aloe Vera because it contains over four hundred genus of plants,
which is grown for unusual shape. Aloe Vera is a plant that thrives in dessert, grassland, alpine and
coastal regions not for the hot, dry climates that most people think. Even though individual species
vary in size, shape, and color, still they all have some common characteristics. Aloes construct a
rosette of fleshy leaves that may be either spines or smooth, depending on the variety. It depends on
the variety of the aloes if they will produce a rosette fleshly leaves be either spines of smooth. Most of

Investigation of Conscience and Man s Psych in To Build A Fire The underlying themes of morality
and importance of conscience in a time of desperation and trouble are intertwined in Jack London s
work To Build A Fire. The idea of instinct over intellect plays a huge role in this naturalistic story, but
perhaps the greater influence in the story is the power of morality in the final breaths of life. Through
the parallelism of existentialism and humanism, the battle with religious sin that makes us human, the
unveiling of the American dream in context to man s wants, and man s final judgment, London weaves
a story of survival that explores the persona of man in the midst of ... Show more content on

American freedom and individuality have often been expressed in, and celebrated by stories of
exploration, adventure, enterprise, and the pursuit of gain: the conquest of the prairie, the settling of
the West, the taming of the wilderness, the gold rush, and the mastery of nature through science,
industry, and technology (Bjorkland 3). Jack London s story offers us a picture of one such fortune
hunting, rugged individual. London took part in the Klondike gold rush, and though he failed as a
miner, he struck gold with stories drawing on the places and people he encountered during those hope
filled and brutal times in the Northwest Territory. In To Build A Fire, the man s passion to explore and
make a better life for himself was destroyed by the ultimate fate of nature. Jim Cullen explores the
meaning of the American Dream, or rather the several American Dreams that have both reflected and
shaped American identity from the Pilgrims to the present in his book, The American Dream. Cullen
notes that the United States, unlike most other nations, defines itself not on the facts of blood, religion,
language, geography, or shared history, but on a set of ideals expressed in the Declaration of
Independence and consolidated in the Constitution (Cullen 19). At the core of these ideals lies the

Although its policy prohibits off the clock work, Wal Mart has created a system of rewards and
punishments that seem to give managers strong incentives to demand such work. According to one
policy, described in a deposition by a senior payroll executive, store managers are ordered to keep
payroll costs below a target set by headquarters for every store. If a store misses its target, the manager
faces a reprimand, and sometimes demotion or dismissal. Another incentive Wal Mart gives store
managers to squeeze down labor costs is pegging annual bonuses to the profits of individual stores, a
system that is rare amongst big retailers. OBJECTIVE OF STUDY For this study, I will record the
daily closing stock prices for Wal Mart Stores, Inc. between the dates of December 3, 2007 and
January 31, 2008. I will then use Microsoft Excel to carry out several calculations using this data, in
order to find such statistical measures as the mean, median, sample variance and standard deviation. I
will then use the resulting figures to compare Wal Mart s stock performance in December 2007 to its
performance in January 2008. I am carrying out this study in order to prove that Wal Mart Stores, Inc.
had an equal mean of stock performance for the months of December 2007 and January 2008.

Grace Kelley to Blake Lively: Hollywood Role Model Queens Think about style, elegance, and the

impressive list of qualities that seems as if it were a fairy tale, a wish list that a child may put together

a reality for Grace Kelly in the 1950s until she passed away in the 1980s, this is also true for Blake
Lively aside from the fact that she is not actually married to a prince. Blake Lively picked up where
Grace Kelly left off, making Blake the new queen of poise and grace. Grace Kelly is still a role model

A Good Man Is Hard To Find By Flannery OConnor
Religion can be interpreted in many different ways depending on the believer. In fact, people have
different ideas and believe of grace and redemption. Many writers and artists exert their religious
values and beliefs in their work. A Good Man is Hard to Find is a short story written by Flannery O
Connor in 1953. Her ideas and beliefs of grace and violence are reflected throughout the whole story.
The theme of violent versus grace is represented by the character of grandmother s family, the Misfit,
and the grandmother. Flannery O Connor represents the theme of grace versus violence through the
grandmother s family. In the conversation between Bailey and grandmother, she states that [she]
wouldn t take [her] children in any direction with a criminal like that aloose in it. [She] couldn t
answer to [her] conscience if [she] did (O Connor 6). Bailey and the children ignore her comments
and he continues reading. The newspaper foreshadows the arrival of the Misfit and presents the
family, especially the grandmother, as a self centered character. The family is unlikely to be the
recipient of grace by their arrogant, selfish, and uncaring characteristics. During the accident on the
trip, June Star states that nobody s killed with disappointment (O Connor 19). Her action reveals how
unserious she is about the accident and death. Consequently, she acts thoughtlessly in front of Bobby
Lee, calling him pig . The family is inconsiderate of the prospect of violence and death and

Othello Racism Analysis
Isolation, by definition, represent the act of being separated from a general group. In William
Shakespeare s Othello, racism can be seen as a common thing throughout the dialogues in the play.
Almost every single character have made racial slurs towards Othello. The protagonist, Othello is seen
as an isolated individual from the rest of Venice due to his skin colour. Othello feels insecure about his
race. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by
endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of
heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw
that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife.
Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on
Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane
being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone
discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello,
he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast
with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where
two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to
prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello
as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also
have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter
over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine
(I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe
his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). Others racist comment around Othello
exposes his inner insecurity step by step, up to a point that Othello can no longer take it and causes his
downfall.

in the context of judging the aptness of a dialogue among the stakeholders including product in itself.
It also discusses the kind of outcome based on designers stand in the design process which makes the

Introduction
Louis I Kahn in his lecture was explaining the importance of honoring building material. The designer
is at a junction and he has to choose a path. He has to decide between economy and honor of material.
The decision, that designer takes, is case specific and depends on various other factors as the case
might be.
The decision of whether to go logical or intuitive is discussed by many authors and designers in many
ways, some supporting logical or rational views and others intuitive or art based. Kahn s quote
mentioned above emphasizes on intuitive decision (as an honor towards the material) over logical way
(which is the economy). Christopher Alexander in his book Notes on the Synthesis of Form discusses

Business Intelligence Tools
We live in a day and age where Business Intelligence (BI) tools are becoming a standard for
businesses. In the past, decision makers gathered data from thick paper reports, long presentations,
and other inefficient tools. However, with rapid advancements in technology, especially in the field of
Information Systems, decision makers need more sophisticated and efficient tools to make sense of
their businesses. Analytical tools are very useful because they allow decision makers to make
decisions at every level of business. We are getting to the point where these tools are critical for a firm
s advancement and competition. One cannot discuss dashboards without first mentioning the
magnitude of today s data. The data is so complex and enormous that it takes so much effort to clean it
up before doing anything with it. Data must be scrubbed, checked for redundancy, inconsistency,
irrelevance, and finally consolidated. These processes are not a joke; each of them take a significant
amount of effort and time. Many BI tools have automated some of these processes. The next step is
taking the consolidated data and inputting it into a system to create some sort of meaning. This is quite
an obstacle because even if the data can be analyzed and trends identified, it is difficult to convey
trends in a meaningful manner ( Oracle International Corporation ). Research shows that humans

Questions On The Free Will
The Free Will Problem presents three different theses that, upon first glance, seem both intuitive and
reasonable as long as they are considered independently. It is not possible to entertain all three theses
together while maintaining any level of consistency. The problem, therefore, is in determining which
of the three theses to discard. The first thesis is the Free Will Thesis, which simply states that agents
sometimes act freely. This thesis seems to be reasonable for at least two reasons. The first reason is
that, more often than not, we feel as though we are free; that is we feel as though we make a choice
based on what we want, whether it be after careful consideration or merely on a whim. The very idea
that we feel as though we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second thesis in the Free Will problem is the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every
event is causally determined to occur by another event; every event has a cause. This thesis seems
reasonable because it coincides with the way in which we view the world, that being scientifically.
Whenever an event occurs we naturally think that something caused that event. Imagine a cup of water
falling over on a desk. It goes against our common sense to say that nothing caused the cup of water to
fall over, it just did. We may not always know what the cause is but we do seem to think that a cause is
necessary for the event to have happened and so far science seems to support this conclusion.
The third thesis in the Free Will Problem is Incompatibilism Thesis, which states that the Free Will
Thesis and the Causal Determinism Thesis are incompatible with one another; in other words, they are
mutually exclusive. This thesis seems reasonable due to the following: if we define free will as acting
without a cause or not being caused to act, and the Free Will Thesis says agents sometime act freely,
then anytime we, as agents, act freely, an event occurs that does not have a cause. This is a direct
violation of the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event must have a cause.
All three theses seem intuitively plausible but it is impossible to hold all three theses together
consistently. Choosing

Investigate and find the relationship between heat loss...
To investigate the relationship between surface area : volume ratio and heat loss.
INTRODUCTION:
The aim of this experiment is to investigate and find the relationship between heat loss (of water) and
surface area to volume ratio of animals. To investigate this, we are going to use three flasks of
different volume (as the equivalent the animals) and thus different surface areas filled with water.
BACKGROUND:
Surface Area : Volume Ratios
We will be using the following formula for calculating SA:Vol ratios:
SA : Vol
Vol : Vol
100ml flask = 115 : 100 = 1.15 : 1
100 : 100
250ml flask = 230 : 250 = 0.92 : 1
250 : 250
500ml flask = 330 : 500 = 0.66:1
500 : 500
The factors effecting heat loss:
1.Energy Levels
2.Climate / air ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second and third experiment was also accurate, however the line of best fit does not go through all
the points, in the evaluation section I can explain why this could be.
On the graphs I have plotted the basic formula of a linear line of y = mx + c. As we can see the
gradient for the 100ml flask at 0.97 was fractionally (0.01 out) more than double that of the 500ml
flask at 0.48 which proves to us the prediction was correct. So as a statement we can say: Heat loss
occurs at twice the speed for the 100ml flask than the 500ml flask due to the fact that the gradient of
the line of best fit for the 100ml flask is double that of the 500ml flask. Also we can see that the 250ml
flask lost it s waters heat at somewhere between that of the 100ml and 500ml flask, proving my
prediction correct.
From the results I can say that, SA to volume ratio does affect the rate of heat loss.
Evaluation of Results:
I thought that most of my results were very accurate. However there were a number of points out of
place that I could improve on. On the 250ml experiment the reading between six and eight minutes
appeared to be incorrect compared with the average heat loss in the same experiment. This could have

Organic Architecture Through Functionalism and Minimalism
The inspiration of nature in design created a movement of Organic Architecture through functionalism
and minimalism since the 1800 s influencing some of the greatest architects to emerge. Functionalist
architects and artists design utilitarian structures in which the Organic Architecture dictates the
development within and moves outward in harmony with its surroundings, without regard to such
traditional devices as axial symmetry and classical proportions or any other heavy ornamentation.
Louis Henry Sullivan s design theory that form ever follows function leads the dialogue towards a
new world of design where the buildings effect on its surroundings is considered. Inspired by his
mentor Frank Lloyd Wright expands on the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often decorated and capped by a decorative cornice. The Wainwright Building Location: 709 Chestnut
Street, St. Louis, Missouri, USAArchitect: Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler Year: 1890 91 Height:
147 feet Stories: 10 The Wainwright Building falls into his pattern of design: a basement for furnace
and utilities, a two story base for shops and other retail spaces, a sill, and the multi story office section
with continuous vertical columns rising to the attic. Often decorated and capped by a decorative
cornice. Before this prior attempts to build with steel looked tiered or stacked almost like a cake. The
Wainwright building materials are sandstone, brick and windows. The first two stories have large deep
windows and a modern approach to the brown sandstone due to the lacking of ornamentation. The
next seven stories are red brick vertical columns with horizontal leaf decorated panels. The last story
has round windows in terra cotta with a Notre Dame inspired leaf scroll. He wrote in the Lippincott s

First Battle Of Bull Run Essay
The Civil war began at Fort Sumter on April 12, 1861. However, the Civil War did not really start to
amp up until the First Battle of Bull Run or also know as the first Battle of Manassas. The battle was
fought just miles from Washington D.C., on July 21, 1861. At a place near Manassas Junction,
Virginia. The battle began when about 35,000 Union soldiers marched from Washington D.C. to fight
a confederate force of 20,000 along a small river called Bull Run. The goal of the Union army was to
make quick work of the Confederate Army, make way to Richmond, the Confederate capital, and end
the war. The Confederate forces were commanded by General P.G.T.Beauregard and General Joseph
F. Johnston. The Union forces were commanded by General Irvin ... Show more content on

10,000 Federals gradually began to push back 4,500 rebels. This was despite an impressive effort by
Thomas J.Jackson who helped the Confederates hold an important high ground position at Henry
House Hill. Who earned the nickname Stonewall Jackson. The nickname came from General Barnard
Bee who told his men to take heart and to look at Jackson standing there like a stonewall. Reporters,
congressman, and onlookers came to watch the battle like it was some sort of show or play. They
thought the Union were about to win the battle and began celebrating. However, reinforcements from
the Confederate army soon came. They rallied the Confederate troops. The federals struggled with
communication and lack of coordination between units. By later in the afternoon, both sides had an
equal number of men on the battlefield. General Beauregard ordered a counterattack and the
Confederates were able to penetrate the Union line. McDowell and the Union soldiers began to retreat
chaotically. The Confederates had won the war. However, they were too disorganized to go after the
retreating Union army. The war had roughly took the lives of 3,000 Union soldiers and 1,750

Gun Control Now And The Federal Level
Gun Control Now
Before we can set a plan for the future, or paint a picture of the past that led us to where we are now,
we must first take a snapshot of gun control legislation as it exists now. As legislation varies greatly
between states, we ll start by looking at gun control at the federal level.
As a law abiding private citizen, with no special exceptions, you must be 18 years of age to purchase a
firearm from a licensed dealer, and 21 to purchase a handgun. However, to possess firearms and
handguns, as well as purchase from a private seller and make for personal use, these ages are reduced
to 0 and 18 respectively. Additionally, you are unable to own armor piercing ammunition and machine
guns (weapons that fire multiple cartridges per pull of the trigger) manufactured after 1986 (18 U.S.
Code § 922).
Additionally, the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) places additional restrictions on certain
weapons which feature certain characteristics. However, NFA weapons are not explicitly illegal to
possess as a normal citizen, but instead require a lengthy and expensive registration process, which
includes a much more in depth background check, and adds additional regulation to the use of such
weapons.
Many such NFA weapons fall into what people consider a slippery slope of gun ownership. Under the
NFA, private citizens are still allowed to own and use Short Barreled Rifles and Shotguns (which
includes such weapons under a total weapon length, not just those with short

  • 2. Analysis Of The Movie 7 Series 7 Up series was created because the director wanted to show the world that a group of children could make a better nation. To be honest, 7 up series got my attention because recording fourteen people lives every seven years means a lot of work and dedication. Moreover, I feel that this series was created mostly to entertain the public all over the world which makes me feel concerned about all the characters involved. 7 up characters had the responsibility to show the world that you can succeed no matter your background. Also, I perceive this series played an important role to initiate reality TV shows. The 7 up series was famous worldwide that even Asia imitated it. Overall, the main reason this film was created was to have a glimpse of the future of England, which I found absurd because an entire nation is not defined by short film based on fourteen children. One of the advantages that you can appreciate from this film is that ambitions and life in general are not stable at all; however, personality and character traits tend to remain the same. The disadvantage that these characters had was that they didn t have the opportunity to choose if they wanted to be part of the program or not. These children exposed their personal and professional lives to the entire world. There were scenes in the film where the characters looked sentimental and uncomfortable, and the director kept recording. I found that really annoying and disrespectful because they invaded the characters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There have been many race riots throughout history that have influenced future actions towards African Americans. The anti African American was a process of assimilation for immigrants who felt that being against African Americans was a way to adopt the values of the dominant American culture and to be seen as American and not as an immigrant. Their parents, grandparents, and past generations all had one, but since they are growing up in the United States, a western country where individualism and freedom are highly valued, they decided that the tradition will not apply to their futures (Fabii, 2017). Similarities Between Antwone Fisher And Fences Defeating Battles In August Wilson s play, Fences, Bono says, Some people build fences to keep people out... and other people build fences to keep people in (Wilson 61). Due to past experiences, many people keep their anger inside and alienate the people they are close to. For example, Troy, in Fences, experiences a rough childhood while growing up. This is brought about due to neglect by his father. Because of this, Troy makes the decision to isolate the people who are close to him. Troy has an affair with Alberta; therefore, he alienates Rose, his wife. Similarly, in the film Antwone Fisher, the main character, Antwone is sexually abused in his foster home. Antwone is afraid to be in a relationship with Cheryl because he feels he cannot allow anyone into his inner sanctum. The Grandmother is one of the major characters in A Good Man is Hard to Find a short story written by Flannery O Conner in 1955. According to the American Journal of Psychiatry, the essential feature of narcissistic personality disorder is a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts. William Shakespeare is regarded by some as the greatest author within all of the English language. Regardless of one s true opinion of Shakespeare s writings, they continue to cycle their way from one generation to the next. His works still hold significant value within all levels of academic teachings. Shakespeare s literatures range from poems and plays to sonnets. Shakespeare gives the mirror the ability to reflect not just an image, but also, the truth. Thus, paving the way in the personification of the glass mirror found in Sonnet 62. Now seeing the reality of it all he questions who and what he was praising all along. Surprised at the vanity, he saw a change must occur. Shakespeare tells a story of human perception, human nature, and its desire to long for everything we are not. Here in sonnet 62, one finds the main character in visioning something he is not and loses all direct grasps on reality. Shakespeare tries to convey that it is important not to engulf ones self with the sin of no humility, yet, remain in touch with reality at all times. One can conclude by reading Shakespeare s Sonnet 12 that the predominant motif deals with the course of time. When read aloud the reader can easily compare the pace of the sonnet and the internal rhyming to that of a ticking clock. Every line is short and steady as it progresses just as the steady ticking of a clock. Relationship Between United States And Cuba Trade Between U.S. and Cuba Zoe McDowell Randolph Community College Since 1961, the United States and Cuba have had no relations with one another, and have used Switzerland as a mediator for the two countries to communicate (Suddath, 2009). This is beginning to change; the U.S and Cuba did business and trade together long ago, but when the U.S. found that Cuba allowed the Soviet Union to build missile bases in Cuba, along with other things leading up to this down fall, all business between the U.S and Cuba came to a halt. Buyer Power: The major consumers in this industry are basically anyone who intends on sending a package or letter to someone urgently or with the most convenience. It seems as if businesses use this industry the most, considering the importance of delivering and receiving products and other necessities to keep a company stable and on top of their game. • 12. Predestination to Choose Perspectives on Church Predestined to Choose First, predestination must be defined so that a contrast can be made with free will. Predestination is the divine foreordaining of all that will happen. Predestination deals with the question of the control God has over the world, it also refers to the belief that God appointed the eternal destiny of some (the elect) to salvation by grace, while leaving the remainder (the reprobate) to receive eternal damnation for all their sins. Free will, However, will be defined to mean a person which has the ability and awareness to choose whether they will accept Jesus Christ as their Savior or not. • 13. Food Industry And Its Effects On The Health And Prosperity... Engineered Food Technology and industrialization of the food industry have changed how food is grown, and altered its nutritional value. Multinational organizations are making decisions that affect the health and prosperity of people worldwide. These organizations have found ingenuous ways of packaging and marketing unsafe products to the public. Education and awareness of the problems are the only hope for improving the food industry and the quality of food. Industrialization of food began with the advent of fast food chains. The McDonald brothers were the first to introduce assembly line food processing. By assigning each employee one task to perform they were more efficient, and they paid those employees less than employers who expected an employee to perform start to finish tasks. The food industry implemented the assembly line approach, quickly changing how food is processed, and decreasing the pay rate for workers. Meat processing once regarded as a profession performed by skilled butchers, now it is a highly dangerous job filled by minority or illegal immigrants willing to take health and deportation risks for a very low wage. Efficiency and cost drives all bad behavior across the food industry. (Kenner, 2008) Cattle once raised on grass and grains now feed on liquefied protein, liquefied fat and corn. The calves are still grass fed until they reach 400 500 pounds; they are then sold to stocker operators who start feeding corn to the cattle. This is an unnatural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Triplicate groups of fish (initial body weight 2.30 g ± 0.01) were fed seven isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets formulated to contain 30 % crude protein and 19.70 kJ g 1 gross energy for 8 weeks. The control diet (CD) contained 22 % local FM and 30 % SBM, whereas in the other six diets, HFM replaced 33, 66 or 100 % of FM or SBM. The best weight gain (11.46), specific growth rate (3.14) and feed conversion ratio (1.24) of tilapia fry fed SBM33%, CD, FM33% and SBM66% diets were exhibited. Final body weight and protein retention increased in a linear pattern with increasing amino acids in the experimental diets with the exception of leucine and valine. The results indicated that good quality HFM can successfully replace FM or SBM by up to 33 and 66 %, respectively, in Nile tilapia fry diets without compromising growth and protein utilization. The results also support the benefits of combining different sources of plant and animal proteins in Nile tilapia diets. Keywords Hydrolyzed feather meal Fish meal Soybean meal ... Nietzsche s Partial Rebuttal Of The Birth Of Tragedy That being said, I argue that we should understand Nietzsche s partial rebuttal of The Birth of Tragedy as a development of his former positions about Metaphysics. For sure his idiosyncracies with the term have grown over the years: at this stage, metaphysics simply tends to be employed just in a negative way, often describing what falls into the cauldron of Platonic Christian Ressentiment. Nonetheless, we should not let a shift in terms of vocabulary mislead us. Once more, the problem for Nietzsche is not metaphysics as such, but just the values embodied by a particular metaphysics . • 31. Grace Kelly Research Paper Grace Kelley to Blake Lively: Hollywood Role Model Queens Think about style, elegance, and the role model for women in the 1950s. Not only was Grace Kelly a famous movie star with flawless looks and style, but she was also a philanthropist, a mother and a princess. Now, this is a rather impressive list of qualities that seems as if it were a fairy tale, a wish list that a child may put together on their eighth birthday party, and wish for as they blew out the candle. The only thing is that this was a reality for Grace Kelly in the 1950s until she passed away in the 1980s, this is also true for Blake Lively aside from the fact that she is not actually married to a prince. Blake Lively picked up where Grace Kelly left off, making Blake the new queen of poise and grace. Grace Kelly is still a role model during this time, people still compare a lot of actresses to her and designers are still trying to embody her essence in clothing, but now Blake has moved in. In fact, people have different ideas and believe of grace and redemption. Many writers and artists exert their religious values and beliefs in their work. A Good Man is Hard to Find is a short story written by Flannery O Connor in 1953. Her ideas and beliefs of grace and violence are reflected throughout the whole story. The theme of violent versus grace is represented by the character of grandmother s family, the Misfit, and the grandmother. Flannery O Connor represents the theme of grace versus violence through the grandmother s family. In the conversation between Bailey and grandmother, she states that [she] wouldn t take [her] children in any direction with a criminal like that aloose in it. [She] couldn t answer to [her] conscience if [she] did (O Connor 6). Bailey and the children ignore her comments and he continues reading. The newspaper foreshadows the arrival of the Misfit and presents the family, especially the grandmother, as a self centered character. The family is unlikely to be the recipient of grace by their arrogant, selfish, and uncaring characteristics. • 34. Othello Racism Analysis Isolation, by definition, represent the act of being separated from a general group. In William Shakespeare s Othello, racism can be seen as a common thing throughout the dialogues in the play. Almost every single character have made racial slurs towards Othello. The protagonist, Othello is seen as an isolated individual from the rest of Venice due to his skin colour. Othello feels insecure about his race. The antagonist, Iago is able to take advantage of Othello s insecurities and weak emotions by endlessly convinces him about Desdemona s infidelity. Racism in his society and Othello s sense of heroism contribute to his downfall. However, Othello s insecurity regarding his race is the tragic flaw that caused his downfall, killing both himself and his loved wife. Externally, In Othello society, other s racist comments against him incorporate some impact on Othello s downfall. Characters such as Roderigo, Iago, and Brabantio referred Othello as an inhumane being. Othello was known as the moor and thick lips by Iago and Roderigo. Almost everyone discriminates Othello verbally because of his skin colour. Yet, Iago is the most racist towards Othello, he attempted to aggravate Brabantio by telling him an old black ram (I, III,23) is making the beast with two backs with your white ewe . Iago referred Othello as black and Desdemona as white, where two of them contradict each other. Iago intended to upset Brabantio by using racist animal imagery to prove to Brabantio about his daughter s elopement. We can see that Iago have no respect for Othello as a person, but only sees him as a black animal. Nonetheless, Desdemona s father, Brabantio also have a racist attitude towards Othello. Brabantio doesn t seem to believe that Othello won his daughter over with his personality. He believes Desdemona is abused, stol n, corrupted by spells and medicine (I, III,60 61). Brabantio considered her daughter s elopement unnatural because he just cannot believe his daughter fall in love with what she feared to look on ( ). Abstract The paper aims at sensitizing designers towards the voices of every stakeholder involved in designing a product that influences through the product life cycle, in a comprehensible way with an objective to facilitate designer towards a better design. This paper discusses the basic purpose and nature of design in the context of judging the aptness of a dialogue among the stakeholders including product in itself. It also discusses the kind of outcome based on designers stand in the design process which makes the conversation dialogical or arguing in nature. The paper proposes Design Tree as a structure, for creating distinct platforms for dialogue to happen at all stages of design evolution for design dialogue to be comprehensible. Introduction Louis I Kahn in his lecture was explaining the importance of honoring building material. The designer is at a junction and he has to choose a path. He has to decide between economy and honor of material. The decision, that designer takes, is case specific and depends on various other factors as the case might be. The decision of whether to go logical or intuitive is discussed by many authors and designers in many ways, some supporting logical or rational views and others intuitive or art based. Kahn s quote mentioned above emphasizes on intuitive decision (as an honor towards the material) over logical way (which is the economy). In the past, decision makers gathered data from thick paper reports, long presentations, and other inefficient tools. However, with rapid advancements in technology, especially in the field of Information Systems, decision makers need more sophisticated and efficient tools to make sense of their businesses. Analytical tools are very useful because they allow decision makers to make decisions at every level of business. We are getting to the point where these tools are critical for a firm s advancement and competition. One cannot discuss dashboards without first mentioning the magnitude of today s data. The data is so complex and enormous that it takes so much effort to clean it up before doing anything with it. Data must be scrubbed, checked for redundancy, inconsistency, irrelevance, and finally consolidated. These processes are not a joke; each of them take a significant amount of effort and time. Many BI tools have automated some of these processes. The next step is taking the consolidated data and inputting it into a system to create some sort of meaning. This is quite an obstacle because even if the data can be analyzed and trends identified, it is difficult to convey trends in a meaningful manner ( Oracle International Corporation ). • 38. Questions On The Free Will The Free Will Problem presents three different theses that, upon first glance, seem both intuitive and reasonable as long as they are considered independently. It is not possible to entertain all three theses together while maintaining any level of consistency. The problem, therefore, is in determining which of the three theses to discard. The first thesis is the Free Will Thesis, which simply states that agents sometimes act freely. This thesis seems to be reasonable for at least two reasons. The first reason is that, more often than not, we feel as though we are free; that is we feel as though we make a choice based on what we want, whether it be after careful consideration or merely on a whim. The very idea that we feel as though we ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second thesis in the Free Will problem is the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event is causally determined to occur by another event; every event has a cause. This thesis seems reasonable because it coincides with the way in which we view the world, that being scientifically. Whenever an event occurs we naturally think that something caused that event. Imagine a cup of water falling over on a desk. It goes against our common sense to say that nothing caused the cup of water to fall over, it just did. We may not always know what the cause is but we do seem to think that a cause is necessary for the event to have happened and so far science seems to support this conclusion. The third thesis in the Free Will Problem is Incompatibilism Thesis, which states that the Free Will Thesis and the Causal Determinism Thesis are incompatible with one another; in other words, they are mutually exclusive. This thesis seems reasonable due to the following: if we define free will as acting without a cause or not being caused to act, and the Free Will Thesis says agents sometime act freely, then anytime we, as agents, act freely, an event occurs that does not have a cause. This is a direct violation of the Causal Determinism Thesis, which states that every event must have a cause. All three theses seem intuitively plausible but it is impossible to hold all three theses together consistently. Choosing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION: The aim of this experiment is to investigate and find the relationship between heat loss (of water) and surface area to volume ratio of animals. To investigate this, we are going to use three flasks of different volume (as the equivalent the animals) and thus different surface areas filled with water. BACKGROUND: Surface Area : Volume Ratios We will be using the following formula for calculating SA:Vol ratios: SA : Vol Vol : Vol 100ml flask = 115 : 100 = 1.15 : 1 100 : 100 250ml flask = 230 : 250 = 0.92 : 1 250 : 250 500ml flask = 330 : 500 = 0.66:1 500 : 500 The factors effecting heat loss: 1.Energy Levels 2.Climate / air ... So as a statement we can say: Heat loss occurs at twice the speed for the 100ml flask than the 500ml flask due to the fact that the gradient of the line of best fit for the 100ml flask is double that of the 500ml flask. Also we can see that the 250ml flask lost it s waters heat at somewhere between that of the 100ml and 500ml flask, proving my prediction correct. From the results I can say that, SA to volume ratio does affect the rate of heat loss. Evaluation of Results: I thought that most of my results were very accurate. However there were a number of points out of place that I could improve on. On the 250ml experiment the reading between six and eight minutes appeared to be incorrect compared with the average heat loss in the same experiment. This could have been ... • 44. Gun Control Now And The Federal Level Gun Control Now Before we can set a plan for the future, or paint a picture of the past that led us to where we are now, we must first take a snapshot of gun control legislation as it exists now. As legislation varies greatly between states, we ll start by looking at gun control at the federal level. As a law abiding private citizen, with no special exceptions, you must be 18 years of age to purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer, and 21 to purchase a handgun. However, to possess firearms and handguns, as well as purchase from a private seller and make for personal use, these ages are reduced to 0 and 18 respectively. Additionally, you are unable to own armor piercing ammunition and machine guns (weapons that fire multiple cartridges per pull of the trigger) manufactured after 1986 (18 U.S. Code § 922). Additionally, the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA) places additional restrictions on certain weapons which feature certain characteristics. However, NFA weapons are not explicitly illegal to possess as a normal citizen, but instead require a lengthy and expensive registration process, which includes a much more in depth background check, and adds additional regulation to the use of such weapons. Many such NFA weapons fall into what people consider a slippery slope of gun ownership. Under the NFA, private citizens are still allowed to own and use Short Barreled Rifles and Shotguns (which includes such weapons under a total weapon length, not just those with short ...
