Unspoken Love
Unspoken Love
There is nothing more innocent than love from a child. Children come into this world with no
expectations other than to be loved. No, they do not understand the meaning of love, but they feel it
every time a gentle hand holds or caresses their tender flesh. In the poem Those Winter Sundays, by
Robert Hayden, the boy speaks of how his father shows his love by the physical things he does for
his family. The dedication and commitment of hard work through the week the boy s father does
to provide for them is unrecognized by outsiders. with cracked hands that ached from labor in the
weekday weather made banked fires blaze. (3 5). It was not until the boy became a man that he
realized just how much his father loved him ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The boys father paid no mind to what the plaster and mortar had to offer each morning. He just
knew he had a job to do.
Another small gesture of nonverbal affection came that morning when the boy discovered his
father had polished his good shoes: besides warming the house, the father polished my good shoes
as well. (12). The motivation behind it must have been to give the boy the satisfaction of looking
his best on a winter Sunday morning.
The young boy who speaks of his past, turned grown man, gives reverence: What did I know,
what did I know / of loves austere and lonely offices? (13 14). The boy at that moment realized
what was being taken for granted. It is hard to see the true meaning of sacrifice unless the one
doing the sacrificing is forthcoming in his reasons. The loved ones around us sometimes get
swept up in the fact that it is easier to receive than to give. The boy who now was a man, finally
realized how much his father genuinely did love and care for him and his family. It probably
was not until the boy became a man and had his own family, did he realize what his father meant
by doing all the labor some tasks he performed. The unspoken love of a father shown everyday by
every stroke of the fire and every shoe shined from a boy to a

Reconstruction After the Civil War Essay example
Presidential Reconstruction and Congressional Reconstruction have some differences and some
similarities. Reconstruction was a huge thing at this time in America. Abraham Lincoln was a huge
part of reconstruction and when he was assassinated, Andrew Johnson took over his role of
President and of reconstructing the south. Abraham Lincolnwanted to fix the intersectional hatred
that was caused from the civil war. On December 8, 1863 Lincoln set a general policy that by
taking an oath southerners could reinstate themselves as US citizens. Abraham Lincoln was
working hard to bring southern states back into the Union. One way he tried was with the Ten
Percent Plan. In this Ten Percent Plan, 10% of people voting in a state had... Show more content on

In response to blacks getting more and more rights, rebel groups formed to perform terror attacks on
the blacks within their communities. The most known, even today, was the Ku Klux Klan. The
members of this society used scare tactics to keep blacks from voting, and they succeeded in scaring
many off, even after law enforcement stepped in. African Americans were able to vote when the
Southern states felt pressure to get the military out of their major districts. Many black voters voted
Republican; this led many southern states to restrict their voting. Congress then set the fifteenth
amendment in place, this laid out the rights that all men had to vote. This is the reason
reconstruction failed African Americans, when Johnson overruled the Freedmen s Bureau. This
was also apparent when he vetoed the Civil
Rights Act. Even though African Americans had people in congress that believed their fate was
unfair, these people had enemies in the opposing party. This friction led to the fate that blacks
would suffer through for years to come. 2
Ranching, mining, farming, and railroad building affected western expansion after the Civil

The Psychosocial Theory Of Life Span Development
Developmental Analysis
Melissa Snyder
Liberty University
Abstract
Life span development, and ultimately who we are and become as a person, is influenced by
many different things that include biologic, cognitive, and socio emotional factors. These
different areas of development can be positively or negatively affected by environmental factors
and stressors. If those negative environmental factors are not dealt with by the time a person
reaches adulthood, there is a likelihood that the person will develop dysfunctional personalities
and struggle to maintain healthy relationships. According to Eric Erickson, those positive and
negative environmental factors influence the individual s development differently when it is
experienced during a particular stage of development. Erickson s psychosocial theory of
development asserts that there are eight stages of development that each person passes through
over the course of their life. Each stage has a specific goal that can be attained by resolving
particular conflicts. This conflict resolution will result in a healthy, well balanced individual. This
paper will look at each stage of Erickson s psychosocial theory of life span development and how it
applies to my own development.
Erik Erikson s theory of psychosocial development was greatly influenced by Freud and his
psychoanalytic theory. Both Freud and Erikson believed that the life span included distinct stages

Compare And Contrast England And Us Government
The governing body of each country can be drastically different, although many governments share
some of the same aspects. The United State s government and England s government share many
similarities, however, each of our country s officers and officials are very different. Both the United
States and England have cabinets. England and the United Statesshare many aspects but enough
differences in order to make these two countries operate differently. When the United States broke
off the ties with Great Britain in 1776, using the Treaty of Paris, America experienced several
different aspects of the United Kingdom.

The Dark Ages Of The Middle Ages
The Renaissance was the period in European history that referred how people were finally learning
about the Classical antiquity. It also marked the translation from the Middle Ages to the Modern
world. The length of the period lasted from 14th century to the 17th century, but it forever changed
the Western World.
People during the Renaissance viewed the other periods throughout history differently.
Everyone was worshipping the Classical antiquity since the people were free to think and question
while the Middle Ages caused people to go into silence for fears of punishment. They were most
disgusted with the Middle Ages because of how much it wasn t the Classical antiquity. The Dark
Ages, a nickname for the Middle Ages made by the Renaissance, were often described the
backwards civilization that had formed after the Western Roman Empire collapsed. However,
Classical antiquity appealed every Renaissance man and woman because their artworks and ruins
were found all over Europe and it caused people to be curious about it. Once they learn of the
Romans and the Greeks, it led to people coming up with their own ideas while challenging the
Catholic Church s ideas. Once the Renaissance began and spread across Europe, major discoveries
would forever change world history. There were several discoveries going on during the
Renaissance that forever changed the world. One of those most important discoveries was the
exploration of the New World. Christopher Columbus, the famous explorer,

The Importance Of Antisocial Behavior
The prefrontal cortex is responsible for higher mental functions such as personality, attention,
arousal, behaviour control etc., as well as being closely linked with structures involved in emotion
and memory development (e.g. the amygdala). Damage to the PFC may disrupt normal behaviour
functioning and cause some individuals to engage in negative, antisocial behaviours, or even have
an extremely negative personality change. However, arguments suggest the behaviour may be a
result of poor childhood upbringing with negative social surroundings.
S.2.1a of the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 defines antisocial behaviour as
conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person .
Individuals who are antisocial tend to be very impulsive, inconsiderate of others, lack motivation in
personal progression and disregard social norms.
It is argued that the trait is caused by social influences, such as strict disciplinary enforcements by
parents, bullying behaviours within families and ignorance of prosocial acts, causing an operant
conditioning of negative and abusive behaviour to be forced upon the child (Patterson Debaryshe,
Ramsey, 1990).
Further arguments suggest antisocial behaviour is a result of poor welfare, by the mother, during
prenatal stages such as smoking. (Liu Wuerker, 2005). Exposure to nicotine in the womb has been
associated with altering the brain s chemical levels, such as reducing levels of dopamine and

Chinese Culture And Cultural Differences In Hong Kong
If I was assigned a position in Hong Kong, the first step would be to learn or improve in the
native language. English and Mandarin are considered to be the two official languages in Hong
Kong, therefore, I will be at a great advantage since business in Hong Kong is preferably
conducted in English. Still, I feel that it would be appropriate for me to be familiar with basic
phrases and words in Cantonese, which is widely spoken by residents. In business, communication
is crucial and being that I am from a different culture and country, it s obvious that
misunderstandings can take place, which as a result can make my assignment dreadful. This is
why I would also make it my priority to do extensive research on Hong Kongand Asia, to learn and
understand the cultural differences and customs that take place in Asian businesses, which can
include authority, office relationships, privacy, uniform or dress code and even the personal status
of employees... For example, in Hong Kong, and many other Asian countries, greetingsare made by
bowing or with a handshake. Elders and those in high positions are usually greeted first and tend to
not bow in return. Some may deem this disrespectful, but in many Asian countries, it s the norm.
On the other hand, bowing in America is unheard of (unless the businesses involved have an Asian
background) and a firm handshake is enough. Although people tend to first shake hands with those
in higher power, regardless of status or age, everyone is

Manufacturing Problems Within China And China
Manufacturing Problems in China Manufacturing is by definition a way to create a product on a
wide range scale using advanced machinery. With that said it should be evident enough that
manufacturing and the industry itself is a big part of our world. This fact alone, it should be
able to illustrate enough that manufacturing has helped everything from countries to
governments to even individuals grow and make a profit off of making goods while making
them in a fast, large quantity for cheap in order to provide goods for many people across the
world. This comes at a heavy cost however , since the resources, labor and sacrifice needed to
make these goods in a fast while efficient way is costly not only to our environment but to the public

However this comes at the cost of being one of the biggest polluters in our world today but while
this does affect us in a big way, it horribly affects the public health the Chinese peoplegreatly. Most
notably the atmosphere, In fact according to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals,
China is leading the world in Carbon dioxide emissions with over 9 million in metric tons of
CO2 being released by china in the air in 2011 compared to the United States which had about a
little over 5 million metric tons (UN). With that fact in mind one can only imagine how bad the air
quality is in cities due to many manufacturing plants letting out many dangerous chemicals out into
the air for the public to end up breathing up. According to an article of The New York Times, a
paper done by a research organization named Berkeley Earth reported that about the three out of
eight of the air the Chinese population breathes is rated unhealthy with the report also finding that
the most deadly air particles cause an array of diseases such as asthma, lung cancer, heart related
illnesses while also causing strokes. (Levin)
Consequently the manufacturing do even more than just threaten public health, they affects the
country s natural resources negatively that they need so urgently. For example the manufacturers in
the Chinese textile industry are considered one of the biggest polluters. However the industry in
particular are mostly

Taking a Look at Radio Communication
One of the most important contributions to communication is the invention of radio
communication. It has provided a platform for wireless cellular communication. According to an
article, it was first believed that The wireless telephone will also cover the seas, lakes and
waterways, supplementing the wireless telegraph over short distances (Burt, 1908, para. 3). If
only he knew that wireless telegraph will become a thing of the past. The first effective radio
communication system was developed by Guglielmo Marconi, an Italian inventor, and scientist
(Guglielmo Marconi Biography, n.d.). Marconi never had any formal scientific education
(Bababian, 1992), but has been the recipient of honorary doctorates of several universities
(Guglielmo Marconi Biographical, 2013, para. 8). He began experimenting with
electromagnetic waves in 1894 when he was twenty years old. However, Nikola Tesla is now
credited with being the first person to patent radio technology; the Supreme Court overturned
Marconi s patent in 1943 in favour of Tesla. (Bellis, n.d., para. 6) . In the 1930 s radios were
commonly found in households as a source for entertainment and news. Since then, radio
technology has advanced significantly since its early days, especially to the sound quality and it s
ability to travel great distances. This form of entertainment is supported by the use of carrier
waves. These waves travel at the speed of light (Abbot and Rider, 1957). Carrier waveforms are the

Essay on Frail Ophelia of Hamlet
Frail Ophelia of Hamlet
Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare makes it evident that Ophelia is very unstable. She continuously
changes her mind about the way she feels. Laertes and Polonius command her to do things that she
does not agree with, but she does them with no argument. Afraid to stand up for herself, she stands
back and watches everyone else control her life. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Ophelia is treated as a
marionette with her strings in the hands of the people around her; however, Kenneth Branagh
portrays her as independent and innocent, ignoring Shakespeare s representation of her as feeble
minded through complete male dominance in her thoughts and actions, her indecisiveness, and
digression into madness.

(1.3.133 136)
He goes on to say she is unable to think for herself, untruthful and insincere. Ophelia takes his
words to heart and promises to remember what he has told her. In Branagh s movie, he makes this
scene look as though Ophelia and Laertes are having a normal conversation. The slanderous words
thrown towards Ophelia do not seem to bother her; she goes on about her business as though her
brother has praised her instead of insulted her. Ophelia cannot stand on her own because she relies
too much on the directions given to her by her father and brother.
Ophelia has trouble deciding whether or not she loves Hamlet or thinks he loves her because she
does not know how to understand her own feelings. This comes from always letting everyone else
tell her what she should think. Polonius questions her about the many tenders of affection Hamlet
has shown her and she replies, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.104 105). Later she
says that she thinks Hamlet goes mad over her. Throughout the play she contradicts herself,
showing she is ambivalent and has no set thoughts; she thinks whatever the person around her at
that moment thinks.
Ophelia s madness comes about because she cannot stand on her own and focuses too much on the
bad things around her. She is very pessimistic; she constantly

Compare And Contrast Utopia And Dystopia
The world in any society has two sides, Utopia which is defined as the perfect world and the
peaceful life that is free from disasters. This word Utopia is derived from Greek roots by Sir
Thomas More which means a good place (More 37). Merriam Webster defined Utopia as an
imaginary place, all life aspects are perfect, as the world suffers from nothing (Webster 19). while
Dystopiais defined as an imagined universe in which the unequal society controls the fancy of an
ideal society which are maintained through technological, moral, corporate or totalitarian control

Social class
Name: Richard Kiau
Course: Intro to Sociology
Lecture: Shawn Vargas
University Of Belize
Date: 17/4/2014
We are aware that there are a variety of different types of stratification however social class is the
main area of division in people. A number of different theories have been made to bring together an
explanation on the ways social class is viewed and how society notices this effect. I will give
comparison of Marx and Weber s perspectives on social class and inequality will be made, as we
know it is quiet debatable on who s view is correct but I will compare and contrast the similarities
and differences finally weighing up a discussion to see both sides of the views.
The main difference ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weber made a significant difference to Marx s theory; he believed in groups with held a status.
class was defined as unequal distribution of economic rewards where as a status group was an
unequal distribution of social honor (Giddens, 1991, pg212) According to Haralambos (2002
pg34) a status group is described as a group made up of individuals who are awarded a similar
amount of social honor and therefore share the same status stratification (Haralambos Holborn
(2002), pg 37). In the present British Society social class is greatly influential on our everyday
lives it affects each day of career, health housing. In Britain during the 1990 s there wasn t much
of a great change in sources that a trend of class inequality being decreased. According to
Haralambos and Holborn (2002) close attention was paid to the closing gap of inequality for
example the socio economic group attributes of employment was influenced by social class for
many centuries. Repeatedly the working classes have only been given the chance to work in an
unskilled occupation or one which was half skilled, given that their class showed their knowledge
educational level they were unable to move up the socio economic hierarchy, this matches Marx s
idea of a culture with capitalism involved.

lives of thousands. What seemed to be a random killing spree turned out to be a massive plan that

Historical Book Justice
Throughout much of the historical writings of the Bible, ranging from the book of Joshua to the
book of Esther, the central narrations depict the formation of kingship that leads Israel. This can
be further broken into three sections. First being the Theocracy, covering the period when Israel
was ruled by God. Second, is the Monarchy which traces Israel Kings from the good to the bad
leading to the nation s destruction. Third, is the restoration describing Israel s remnant after the
seventy years of captivity. For the sake of limitation, an example from each section will be

As noted in previous sections, the state of the world was far from shalom and God was on a
mission to restore this. However, it also seemed Israel was not going to be the source of
redemption as they only held the desire to be like the nations, lacking a manner of justice. Yet,
in this last category one can note of the beginning process of restoration until the time of Jesus.
In this section, there is one important verse to pay attention to. In Ezra 10:14 the idea of justice
is reinstated but not in a way that is simply justice put into action, but in the intent to regather the
people of God; to bring all back into a community of love. This is one step closer to restoring
shalom. The verse prior to this example is key in understanding this (Ez. 10:9 14). Ezra the priest is

Juvenile Crimes And Crime Rates
Did you know that murders, rapists, kidnappers and drug dealers are being released from jail after
only serving short and relaxed sentences. Who are these criminals you might ask, and what makes
them so special?
Good morning___ and welcome to _____. So I will tell you who they are, they are people like
you and me, juveniles under the age of 18 who commit atrocious adult crimes but are still tried in
juvenile courts. They not only get off with shortened sentences but when released are given new
identities to start a new life where no one knows what they previously have committed. They
continue to live their new lives in peace and contentment all while their victims and the families are
left to suffer.
This is why minors the age of 10 to 17 year olds who commit serious crimes like murder,
kidnapping, rape, aggravated assault and armed robbery should be charged as adults. Today I am
here to convince you that this is (the right notion and the most effective to decrease crime rates?)
They should be charged as adults firstly as every child, teen and adult knows right from wrong, if
they can do the crime they can do the time. Secondly, ____ and finally_____
So you might be thinking that minors are not adults and do not have the intellectual or moral
capacity to understand the consequences of their actions or that their brains are not fully developed
until at least the age of 20, in addition they are more vulnerable and impulsive to negative
influences and outside pressures.

However, it was doubtful that many, if any blacks, were permitted to read any of Wheatley s work.
Wheatley tended to write many religiously based poems. They all consisted of her true opinions.
They ranged from speaking about dead reverends that she respected to her opinions about the lives
of Atheist and Deist.
Atheism called out the downfalls that Wheatley believed to be corrupting the lives of those that
did not believe in God. She accused Atheists of being self centered and selfish, and she wrote,
[t]hy heart in unbelief will harder grow...Thy unbelief disturbs the peaceful mind (Wheatley 130).
Since Wheatley had found her freedom in her Christianity, she felt as though Christianity was the
sole road to happiness during and after life. Wheatley knew what she believed in, and she was not
afraid to let the world know. The Deists were not safe from Wheatley s criticism either. She
accused the Deists of being the children of Satan (Wheatley 131). Some people might have found

How Is Reverend Hale Guilty
Reverend John Hale was a man who had only good intentions. His strong beliefs in witchcraft led
him to believe that everyone who was accused of the crime was truly guilty. Hale underwent a huge
change that challenged his beliefs, but helped him change in a positive manner. Reverend Hale
began as a strong person with overconfidence, consequently, because of the guilt he felt for those
wrongly accused people, he changed into a disillusioned, but sympathetic person trying to right his
wrongs. Accordingly, Reverend Hale was confident in his beliefs about witchcraft. Feeling so
strongly in his beliefs, Hale did not even question any accusations, nor went into any kind of
furthermore investigation to have solid proof that the person was guilty. By doing this, he would be
preventing a negative outcome. As said by Hale in The Crucible, We cannot... Show more content

Hale began to be tormented by doubts early in the proceedings (overview). It was not until his
wife was accused to be a witch, did Hale begin to realize the inconsistency with the accusations
being made against certain people. Seeing John Proctor arrested for witchcraft and finding out
Abigail was a fraud also raised uncertainty. Most of the reputations of the people being accused
did not match up with the evil acts they were said to have done. The true reasoning behind all
accusations became clear. It was all just for vengeance. As Hale said, I am a stranger here, as
you know. And in my ignorance, I find it hard to draw a clear opinion of them that come accused

How Different Features Of The Musculoskeletal System...
This essay will talk about how different features of the musculoskeletal system functioning in terms
of movement, support and load bearing, the factors which affect tensions in developed muscle and
different roles of muscle and their roles in movement. The first part to start with is to understand
what musculoskeletal system is and the function of it. The basic function of musculoskeletal
system is to support the human body, allow movement, support and protect organs, it also known as
the loco motor system. The system is formed by bones, cartilage, ligaments, muscles, tendons, joints
and other connective tissue that supports and binds tissues and organs together. The skeletal part of
the system works as storage system for calcium and phosphorus. It is essential for bones to regulate
mineral balance in the bloodstream, and then the variation of minerals is high, these minerals are
stored in bone; when it is low, minerals are withdrawn from the bone. The skeleton system has a
critical relationship with blood production (hematopoietic) system. The hematopoietic system
locates in long bones and there are two distinctions of bone marrow. The yellow marrow has fatty
connective tissue, the body uses the fat in yellow marrow for energy; the red marrow is important
for blood cell production. The bones also provide stability to the body; muscles keep bones in
place and also play a role in movement of the bones. When movement happens, different bones are
connected by joints and

Thai Teenagers
The lifestyles of the Thai teenagers have changed a lot in the past 40 50 years. For me, the
technology between in the past (1960 s) and now (as of 2017) is very distinct in its own way due to
the technological advances during the time. For this reason, I will introduce some of the aspects
that changed during 1960s to now such as communications, transportations and music.
The Technology used by Thai Teenager in communication aspect has come a long way since the
past. In the past, some communication technologies were postal messages and telegrams. The
postal message was popular during the 1960s due to how easy it was to write a message. Also,
the Thai teenagers didn t need to encrypt the message. On the other hand, telegram was also
popular back in the days, because of its speed of delivery but users had to encrypt messages to
Morse code and send the message to the staff that sent the message. Now, Thai teenagers use E
mail and Social media to communicate. E mail was invented to increase the speed of delivery and
to reduce delays from sending the physical letter (postal messages). It s now popular and used
globally. Social media is very popular too because it is a modified version of E mail. People use a
lot of social media especially Facebook which Thai teenagers use a lot to communicate and other
things. Social media allows teenagers to communicate face to face via video calling to see each
other s faces in real time without physically meeting them in real life. This is a

1. The first essay clearly shows the impact that an ideology of domesticity on women in New
England in the 1830 s. The writer at first calls this time period a paradox in the progress of women
s history in the United States . During this time apparently two contradictory views on women s
relations to society clashed, unusually, those two being domesticity, which essentially limited
women, giving them a sex specific role that they must abide to, this mostly being present at the
home with their husbands and whatever kids they may or may not have had at that time, and
feminism, which essentially tried to remove this domesticity, trying to remove sex specific limits

Masculinity didn t do a good job of attaining the hoped for standards, as they didn t have other
equally profound consequences for American middle class culture at this time. It justified the
exclusion of women from the world as acceptable to both women and men at this time, and it
cultivated strong bonds around women as well. They in fact shared the biological experiences
central to their definition as women and spoke the same language of virtue and piety, which
essentially means that they instilled a awareness of a set of common goals for them and
experiences present for them, which had values specific to women, and distinct from those of men.
The key to this was the extensive networks of female friends that were present during this time
period for these women. Since women were supposedly better than men during this time, it was
feasible and easy to believe that women were obliged and privileged to work together and help other
women, who were fallen, and poor, who were having some sort of trouble during this time period as
a result of the society that they were present in during this time period. Southern white women
during this time were aware of the ideology of domesticity during this time, and they would try to
implement it and its teachings for their lives, but their expectations were frequently articulated
during this time period. There was little industrialization, domestication, urbanization, immigration,
and therefore, social dislocation present during

Presentation on a Short Poem Written by T. S. Eliot Cousin Nancy
First, let me talk something about T. S. Eliot
T. S. Eliot is considered to be one of the most prominent poets, critics and playwrights of his time
and his works are said to have promoted to reshape modern literature . He was born in 1888 in St.
Louis Missouri and studied at Harvard and Oxford. It was at Harvard where he met his guide Ezra
Pound, and under the encouragement of Pound, Eliot expands his writing abilities and publish his
first poem: the love song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Eliot became an Englandcitizen in 1925 and

She displayed the meaning of modern to other people, and mocked those old fogies, defenders of
older order now locked away behind the shelves.
Just this short poem caused much discussion, and the people s opinions are definitely opposite.
1. Some think that the poem fully demonstrates the impact of the woman s presence in the modern
society. It shows the confidence of the new profound woman and how the older generation, or her
aunts , reacted to the new movement.
2. Others think that Nancy s liberation and rebellion just a kind of superficial and ironical one.
The poem presents an ironic portrait of a liberated new woman whose modern attitudes are
expressed in trivial actions. And the final line of the poem: the army of unalterable law indicates
nothing will change, the faith, though locked in the shelves, will never be destroyed, or lost. It will
be kept well and come down. That is the strength of tradition.
Both of them sounds reasonable, now I will analyze these two, and give my own explanation to the
poem.
Firstly, I want to share with you something information about the poem, I think it will help us to
understand the poem better.

After watching Erin Brockovich I realized she had so many types of incarceration in her life.
The movie did not talk much about her childhood but did talk about her life from her early
twenties on. She was a single mom with two children, had two divorces and is struggling to pay
bills. She was incarcerated as soon as the movie started because she got into a bad car accident
that was not her fault and needed to pay medical bills. She had a neck brace on which made it
hard for her to move and do normal tasks like eat, take care of her kids and work. This was her
first type of incarceration because she was not able to do anything she wanted to do and this ended
up leading to her other types of incarceration. Then there was a bit of an up lift

Intelligent Design is a Fact, Not a Theory Essay
There are things in the universe and on the planet that point to an intelligent design and that God is
that Intelligent Designer. There are many unique items within animals, plants, and human beings.
These items are just too unique and complex to have just happened. The intelligent design of these
items points to an Intelligent Designer not just chance. Intelligent design is the study of patterns in
nature, animals, and human beings that are best explained as the result of intelligence. (Dembski.

intelligent design directly challenges Darwinism, Evolution, and other naturalistic approaches to the

The outer layer of the beak is not a solid structure. It is made up of layers of teeny, tiny hexagonal
plates that overlap like roof shingles. The interior is made of something completely different. It
is made of light, rigid foam made of little beams and membranes. The beak is also hollow is
some spots. John Eliot says that the beak of the toucan is ingeniously designed to be both strong
and light. The dictionary defines the word ingenious to mean marked by inventive skill and
imagination. Since evolution says there is no design to anything that everything just happened,
it cannot explain the unique, creative design of the toucan s beak that lies with the Designer.

Dexmedetomidine In Psychology
Evidences from animal models
It has been reported that dexmedetomidine has neuroprotective effects in animals with various
insults to the brain. Dexmedetomidine attenuates central sympathetic activity and decreases
anesthetic requirements. Hoffman et al. determined the effects of dexmedetomidine on
neurological and histopathological outcome after incomplete cerebral ischemia in rats about 25
years ago [1]. The results show that dexmedetomidine given during brain ischemia improved
neurological and histopathological outcome after incomplete ischemia in rats anesthetized with
fentanyl and nitrous oxide. This effect was reversed by atipamezole, indicating that the effect is
mediated by О±2 adrenergic receptors. Improvement with dexmedetomidine was ... Show more

Effects of different nutrient conditions on plant growth of wheat seeds
________________________________________
The objective of this investigation was to determine the effects of limiting nutrients on plant growth
in different treatment. Nutrient availability is an important factor in plant growth as it enhances the
processes taking place in the plants such as primary and secondary metabolic processes. In this
investigation, wheat plants were observed in different chemical treatments with limitations to
nutrients using statistical analysis. Students were required to scientifically determine whether or
not different nutrient conditions affected the overall plant growth over duration of time. The shoot
length and biomass of 20 random leaves grown in different chemical media s were measured and
this data was used to calculate statistical calculation such as the mean, standard deviation and t
value which was compared to the critical t value to determine whether or not the null hypothesis
was rejected. It was statistically calculated that the treatments that were nitrogen deficient and
phosphorus deficient had a p value greater than 0.05 and treatments that were water and potassium
deficient had a p value less than 0.05 in both the plants shoot length and biomass. This lead to the
conclusion that nitrogen deficient and phosphorus deficient treatments did have an effect on the
plant growth of wheat plants.

two minutes we would see Paris score on Olney resulting in Paris leading the game7 to 0.
After the first score against Olney a storm rolled through during the game resulting in a 30 minute
delay. After the delay Olney managed to come back by the end of the second quarter and score
tying up the game 7 to 7 ending the first half. The rain for the remainder of the game was very

Due to the weather conditions during the second half we saw many negative effects of the wet

Assess critically the contribution that scientific management makes to the experience and

Scientific Management also known as Taylorism was developed by Frederick W. Taylor in the late
nineteenth century.
Taylorism is a form of job design, which stresses short, repetitive work cycles; detailed, set task
sequences; a separation of task conception from task execution; and motivation linked to pay.
Taylor argued that the principal objective of management should be to secure the maximum
prosperity for the employer, coupled with the maximum prosperity for each employee (1911).

Pay system may result in a worker valuing quantity over quality.
7. Functional foremanship was deemed to be too complex and an unwieldy mode of supervision.
(Huczynski, 2013)
Ways to alleviate the negative effects of Taylorism especially to worker motivation and
performance and find new ways to job designs came about following the introduction of the
American psychologists Fredrick Hertzberg two factor theory of motivation. Hertzberg had the idea
that there were two sets of factors that affected motivation and job characteristics:
Motivators: These factors refer to the extent to which a job offers opportunities for achievement,
creativity, responsibility, opportunities for personal growth. These are intrinsic to the job itself.
Hygiene factors: These comprise issue as the nature of supervision and supervisory style, the level
of pay, working conditions, and interpersonal relations. These are extrinsic to the job.
For Hertzberg it was only the motivator factors that have the potential to generate satisfaction and
motivation. If hygiene factors are improved, they do not result in improved motivation, but if
removed, will result in demotivation.
To raise levels of motivation and therefore performance, following Hertzberg theory of motivation,
companies needed to ensure that the hygiene factors were in place, and to also ensure that the

Political Allegory In Alice In Wonderland
One historical approach to Carroll s Alice in Wonderland invites the reader to observe the trends,
culture as well as the philosophy of the Victorian Era for a personalized interpretation of Alice s
encounters in Wonderland. Usage of the Historical approach may seem demoralizing in sheer
scope; it is quite imperative to understand that the novel was written during a specific time period
that, in itself, contained unique habits and concerns. Within the following pages, the connections
with the Victorian erain terms of the middle class upbringing of children, notions of order,
reasoning, logic and politesse will be further understood. Political allegory, a powerful theme that
reflects brilliantly in the real life to England; the Wonderland, the symbolic England, The novel can
be first identified as the direct opposite with characters that jigsaw into the real life. Wonderland
was ruled unjustly by the Queen of Hearts, who, correspondingly was Queen Victoria. There were
pieces of evidence that Carroll was not overly timid by the Queen. The aristocracy of violence that
was assigned to Wonderland (the Queen and the Duchess) as well as the ludicrous mangling of
justice in the trial ( Sentence first, then verdict ; the British system indeed at that time in
shambles.) are often used as the evidence that Alice belonged to perhaps the genre of political
satire more than Carroll had realized. Another political approach is to treat Alice as an allegory for
colonization. During the

Ender s Game Film Analysis
Can you imagine a future where one must be connected to the Internet in order to function in
society? Will there come a day when everyone and everything will be constantly monitored and
tracked by the government? These futuristic prospects are often related to scenes from science
fiction films, where many visions of the futureare adapted to create an advanced society. In these
films, innovations in technologyis usually the focus point, where audiences explore what life would
be like and the effects of technology in a futuristic society.
One such film that displays the use of advanced technology well is Ender s Game , directed by
Gavin Hood. This film holds up a mirror to today s society as the rising use of advanced
technology is a current ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the individual s information isn t securely stored, what horrendous consequences might follow,
with the information in the hands of criminals, extortionist, hackers, terrorists and the like?
However, according to one survey, approximately one fourth of all professionals between 18 to
50 years of age would like to directly connect their brains to the Internet. In near future, they are
not going to have to force most of us to get a microchip implanted on the back of our head. We
will do it eagerly, yet no one will ever even stop to consider the potential for abuse. This makes us
question, Will fiction ever become fact?
Today, the Internet has become such an integral part in our lives that it is hard to remember how
we ever survived without it. And with each passing year, the number of devices connected to the
Internet continues to grow at an exponential rate. However, we just cannot help ourselves. Our
society has a love of affair with new technology. And some of the things that are being developed
right now are beyond what most of us ever dreamed of possible. In matter of time, governments all
over the world will have the ability to continually monitor and track the activities of everyone under
their power at all times. Do we really want our future generations, or even ours, to be that

My research paper is entitled, Analyzing Heart of Darkness...
My research paper is entitled, Analyzing Heart of Darkness through a Feminist Lens. Through this
paper, I will investigate and examine Heart of Darkness by means of Feminist Criticism and
literary theory. I aspire to thoroughly analyze the entire narrative, in order to pull out and pinpoint
various aspects and examples linked to feminist theory. I want to investigate and spotlight specific
occurrences, in the novel, where characteristics of Feminist Criticism can be found or applied. I
specifically want to look at the tree women characters introduced in the text; The Intended The
Mistress and Marlow s aunt. I also want to prove that Heart of Darknessis a text that openly conflicts
with the basis of feminism.
To begin this paper, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness, Marlow s mindset towards women represents the
rather widespread viewpoint of the 19th century. Men during this time viewed women as
insignificant and inferior. Perhaps that is why there are only three female characters in Heart of
Darkness: Kurtz s mistress, Kurtz s Intended, and Marlow s aunt. Marlow references these women
with the intention of giving the narrative more gist. Though they certainly perform particular
functions in the story, these women don t really correlate with the main premise of the tale. The
main theme of the story centers on how Marlow s voyage into the Congo leads him to self
discovery. The journey helps to mold and shape his beliefs in humanity and causes him to question
morality.
At the outset of Marlow s narrative he expresses how he, Charlie Marlow, set the women to work
to get a job. Marlow communicates this in the perspective that he was so determined to adventure
into the trade commerce that he did what was unconceivable in the time period: he asked a woman
for money. The lady, his aunt, seems to surpass the customary role of women during the time
period. She tells Marlow that she is overjoyed to aid him in his endeavors. She even instructs him
to ask her for help whenever he desires it. This occurrence does not play too much of a role in the
overall premise of the tale; it merely functions to tell the reader how Marlow succeeds in getting the
finances he needs to

Education Systems Of The Us Educational System
Education Systems in Other Countries
One of the biggest problems in the US educational system is the inadequate condition of many
schools located in economically disadvantaged areas (Morgan, p 291). Morgan s article is about
improving American school system based on how other countries school systems are performing.
For the US to close the achievement gap in the US [it] include[s] improving teacher education and
professional development (p. 294). According to the article, other countries fare better than the US
because they require their teachers to be educated more thoroughly and to continue to educate
themselves throughout the course of their career. One step in the right direction for Americas school
system is beginning in the classroom with the teachers, which is also where America s School to
Prison Pipeline begins.
Singapore
Singapore starts at the beginning of the system with the way teachers are educated and selected to
become teachers and administrators in the school environment. They believe if the teachers are
better educated and more prepared to begin working with students they are at a more
advantageous position than here in the United States. Before a teacher in Singapore begin working
directly and solely with students they have mentor teachers guide beginning and novices in the
teaching profession also collaborate with other teachers and visit different classes for as long as
20 hours a week (Morgan, p. 294). The country will gradually prepare the teachers

The Most Common Way Computers Use Communication
Society is based on flourishing technology. The main source of technology today is computers.
Computers are everywhere and they have many modern uses. Without computers the modern
generation would not exist. Since computers have such an important role in communicating and
gaining information, it would almost be impossible to perform these activities without them. Over
the past few years, computers have become an essential asset in the way business industries run
and make decisions. Computers are transforming the way one lives; they have impacted every
aspect of social and business life. Therefore, one must have knowledge of basic computerskills and
software in order to keep up in the business world because these skills are essential in
communication, management, and research.
Communication is the key to gain and maintain clients and other important contacts (Crowder).
Email is the most common way computers use communication. An email account gives a business
quick access to instant messaging in addition to contacts. Being able to contact coworkers from a
computer has made communication extremely efficient. Every company has an email for
customer service so they can keep their customers updated and satisfied. When companies hire
new employees, they usually look through a personal email with someone s resume attached to it.
This gives the employer quick and easy feedback to see if someone fits the qualifications of the
company. So, an applicant has to be able to fill out a

A Meta-Analysis of the Impacts of Soy Milk, Skim Milk, and...
Five studies were found that coincide with the study selection criteria for on the effects of
fermented milk on cholesterol levels. Although some studies do not agree, a consensus can still be
reached. Five studies were found that agree consuming fermented milk products helps to lower
cholesterol levels. Of these studies Agerbaek et al., (1995) conducted a six week study on fifty
eight healthy, non obese males with normal cholesterollevels, all were age forty four. Participants
were randomly placed in either the fermented milk or placebo group; the placebo consisted of
milk cultured with non living bacteria and the fermented milk was fermented with E. faecium
and two strains of S. termophilus. Participants drank 200 ml per day of either fermented or
placebo milk. The diet of each individual was not altered at any time during the study. After six
weeks, total cholesterol was significantly reduced by 14.3 mg/dL while the placebo had no
significant change. LDL cholesterol levels had a 10% reduction, a 16.24 mg/dL decrease while
HDL cholesterol levels were unchanged. Agerbaek et al., (1995) determined that fermented milk
should significantly decrease total cholesterol and LDL levels in middle aged men.
A study by Anderson and Gilliland (1999) came to the conclusion that fermented milk lowered
total cholesterol levels by 2.4%, LDL by 2.6% and HDL by 3.9%. The study was conducted over a
three week period with twenty females and nine males all with hypercholesterolemia. All

The Consequences Of Evil In The Book Of Job
The Book of Job gives an answer as to why bad things happen to good people. God allows people
to suffer for the good they will attain in the future, both immaterial and physical. This is why
many Christians believe that suffering is not necessarily an evil in itself. The Book of Job also
contains elements of Paul Ricoeur s typologies of evil; including the elements of combat and chaos,
the questioning of God s goodness, and the tragic existence of man s soul.
The Book of Job tells the story of ha satan (the adversary) testing Job s faith by asking God to
plague Job with diseases and allow his family to die. God allows Job to be tested by many
different tribulations, including ulcers and sores, along with losing his family and property. This
brings to question concerning evil: why do bad things happen to good people?
The Book of Job gives an answer to this theodicy. It explains how an omnipotent, omnibenevolent,
and omniscient God could allow bad things to happen to good people. The Book of Job gives an
example of the educational and eschatological theodicy. When applying the educational theodicy,
bad things happen to good people because of what they learn from the suffering. In the case of Job,
Job learned that God has complete power over mankind, and that man is far beneath Him and
everything he has is a gift from God, to begin with. In Chapter 38, verse four, God says to Job:
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? . He then goes on to say that as God

  • 2. Unspoken Love Unspoken Love There is nothing more innocent than love from a child. Children come into this world with no expectations other than to be loved. No, they do not understand the meaning of love, but they feel it every time a gentle hand holds or caresses their tender flesh. In the poem Those Winter Sundays, by Robert Hayden, the boy speaks of how his father shows his love by the physical things he does for his family. The dedication and commitment of hard work through the week the boy s father does to provide for them is unrecognized by outsiders. with cracked hands that ached from labor in the weekday weather made banked fires blaze. The boys father paid no mind to what the plaster and mortar had to offer each morning. He just knew he had a job to do. Another small gesture of nonverbal affection came that morning when the boy discovered his father had polished his good shoes: besides warming the house, the father polished my good shoes as well. (12). The motivation behind it must have been to give the boy the satisfaction of looking his best on a winter Sunday morning. The young boy who speaks of his past, turned grown man, gives reverence: What did I know, what did I know / of loves austere and lonely offices? (13 14). The boy at that moment realized what was being taken for granted. It is hard to see the true meaning of sacrifice unless the one doing the sacrificing is forthcoming in his reasons. The loved ones around us sometimes get swept up in the fact that it is easier to receive than to give. The boy who now was a man, finally realized how much his father genuinely did love and care for him and his family. It probably was not until the boy became a man and had his own family, did he realize what his father meant by doing all the labor some tasks he performed. • 3. Reconstruction After the Civil War Essay example Presidential Reconstruction and Congressional Reconstruction have some differences and some similarities. Reconstruction was a huge thing at this time in America. Abraham Lincoln was a huge part of reconstruction and when he was assassinated, Andrew Johnson took over his role of President and of reconstructing the south. Abraham Lincolnwanted to fix the intersectional hatred that was caused from the civil war. On December 8, 1863 Lincoln set a general policy that by taking an oath southerners could reinstate themselves as US citizens. Abraham Lincoln was working hard to bring southern states back into the Union. One way he tried was with the Ten Percent Plan. In this Ten Percent Plan, 10% of people voting in a state had... The most known, even today, was the Ku Klux Klan. The members of this society used scare tactics to keep blacks from voting, and they succeeded in scaring many off, even after law enforcement stepped in. African Americans were able to vote when the Southern states felt pressure to get the military out of their major districts. Many black voters voted Republican; this led many southern states to restrict their voting. Congress then set the fifteenth amendment in place, this laid out the rights that all men had to vote. This is the reason reconstruction failed African Americans, when Johnson overruled the Freedmen s Bureau. This was also apparent when he vetoed the Civil Rights Act. Even though African Americans had people in congress that believed their fate was unfair, these people had enemies in the opposing party. This friction led to the fate that blacks would suffer through for years to come. 2 Ranching, mining, farming, and railroad building affected western expansion after the Civil War.New buildings and new towns were built around these industries.Native Americans were not too fond of all of the expansion. The land used for farming and such was the Native Americans land and anyone wanting to farm or mine was able to use that land for him or herself. With this expansion came Chinese ... • 4. The Psychosocial Theory Of Life Span Development Developmental Analysis Melissa Snyder Liberty University Abstract Life span development, and ultimately who we are and become as a person, is influenced by many different things that include biologic, cognitive, and socio emotional factors. These different areas of development can be positively or negatively affected by environmental factors and stressors. If those negative environmental factors are not dealt with by the time a person reaches adulthood, there is a likelihood that the person will develop dysfunctional personalities and struggle to maintain healthy relationships. According to Eric Erickson, those positive and negative environmental factors influence the individual s development differently when it is experienced during a particular stage of development. Erickson s psychosocial theory of development asserts that there are eight stages of development that each person passes through over the course of their life. Each stage has a specific goal that can be attained by resolving particular conflicts. This conflict resolution will result in a healthy, well balanced individual. This paper will look at each stage of Erickson s psychosocial theory of life span development and how it applies to my own development. Erik Erikson s theory of psychosocial development was greatly influenced by Freud and his psychoanalytic theory. Both Freud and Erikson believed that the life span included distinct stages that ... • 6. The Dark Ages Of The Middle Ages The Renaissance was the period in European history that referred how people were finally learning about the Classical antiquity. It also marked the translation from the Middle Ages to the Modern world. The length of the period lasted from 14th century to the 17th century, but it forever changed the Western World. People during the Renaissance viewed the other periods throughout history differently. Everyone was worshipping the Classical antiquity since the people were free to think and question while the Middle Ages caused people to go into silence for fears of punishment. They were most disgusted with the Middle Ages because of how much it wasn t the Classical antiquity. The Dark Ages, a nickname for the Middle Ages made by the Renaissance, were often described the backwards civilization that had formed after the Western Roman Empire collapsed. However, Classical antiquity appealed every Renaissance man and woman because their artworks and ruins were found all over Europe and it caused people to be curious about it. Once they learn of the Romans and the Greeks, it led to people coming up with their own ideas while challenging the Catholic Church s ideas. • 7. The Importance Of Antisocial Behavior The prefrontal cortex is responsible for higher mental functions such as personality, attention, arousal, behaviour control etc., as well as being closely linked with structures involved in emotion and memory development (e.g. the amygdala). Damage to the PFC may disrupt normal behaviour functioning and cause some individuals to engage in negative, antisocial behaviours, or even have an extremely negative personality change. However, arguments suggest the behaviour may be a result of poor childhood upbringing with negative social surroundings. S.2.1a of the Anti Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 defines antisocial behaviour as conduct that has caused, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to any person . Individuals who are antisocial tend to be very impulsive, inconsiderate of others, lack motivation in personal progression and disregard social norms. It is argued that the trait is caused by social influences, such as strict disciplinary enforcements by parents, bullying behaviours within families and ignorance of prosocial acts, causing an operant conditioning of negative and abusive behaviour to be forced upon the child (Patterson Debaryshe, Ramsey, 1990). Further arguments suggest antisocial behaviour is a result of poor welfare, by the mother, during prenatal stages such as smoking. (Liu Wuerker, 2005). Exposure to nicotine in the womb has been associated with altering the brain s chemical levels, such as reducing levels of dopamine and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

English and Mandarin are considered to be the two official languages in Hong Kong, therefore, I will be at a great advantage since business in Hong Kong is preferably conducted in English. Still, I feel that it would be appropriate for me to be familiar with basic phrases and words in Cantonese, which is widely spoken by residents. In business, communication is crucial and being that I am from a different culture and country, it s obvious that misunderstandings can take place, which as a result can make my assignment dreadful. This is why I would also make it my priority to do extensive research on Hong Kongand Asia, to learn and understand the cultural differences and customs that take place in Asian businesses, which can include authority, office relationships, privacy, uniform or dress code and even the personal status of employees... For example, in Hong Kong, and many other Asian countries, greetingsare made by bowing or with a handshake. Elders and those in high positions are usually greeted first and tend to not bow in return. Some may deem this disrespectful, but in many Asian countries, it s the norm. On the other hand, bowing in America is unheard of (unless the businesses involved have an Asian background) and a firm handshake is enough. With that said it should be evident enough that manufacturing and the industry itself is a big part of our world. This fact alone, it should be able to illustrate enough that manufacturing has helped everything from countries to governments to even individuals grow and make a profit off of making goods while making them in a fast, large quantity for cheap in order to provide goods for many people across the world. However this comes at the cost of being one of the biggest polluters in our world today but while this does affect us in a big way, it horribly affects the public health the Chinese peoplegreatly. Most notably the atmosphere, In fact according to the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, China is leading the world in Carbon dioxide emissions with over 9 million in metric tons of CO2 being released by china in the air in 2011 compared to the United States which had about a little over 5 million metric tons (UN). With that fact in mind one can only imagine how bad the air quality is in cities due to many manufacturing plants letting out many dangerous chemicals out into the air for the public to end up breathing up. According to an article of The New York Times, a paper done by a research organization named Berkeley Earth reported that about the three out of eight of the air the Chinese population breathes is rated unhealthy with the report also finding that the most deadly air particles cause an array of diseases such as asthma, lung cancer, heart related illnesses while also causing strokes. • 10. Taking a Look at Radio Communication One of the most important contributions to communication is the invention of radio communication. It has provided a platform for wireless cellular communication. According to an article, it was first believed that The wireless telephone will also cover the seas, lakes and waterways, supplementing the wireless telegraph over short distances (Burt, 1908, para. 3). If only he knew that wireless telegraph will become a thing of the past. The first effective radio communication system was developed by Guglielmo Marconi, an Italian inventor, and scientist (Guglielmo Marconi Biography, n.d.). Marconi never had any formal scientific education (Bababian, 1992), but has been the recipient of honorary doctorates of several universities (Guglielmo Marconi Biographical, 2013, para. 8). He began experimenting with electromagnetic waves in 1894 when he was twenty years old. However, Nikola Tesla is now credited with being the first person to patent radio technology; the Supreme Court overturned Marconi s patent in 1943 in favour of Tesla. (Bellis, n.d., para. 6) . In the 1930 s radios were commonly found in households as a source for entertainment and news. Since then, radio technology has advanced significantly since its early days, especially to the sound quality and it s ability to travel great distances. This form of entertainment is supported by the use of carrier waves. These waves travel at the speed of light (Abbot and Rider, 1957). Carrier waveforms are the different ... • 11. Essay on Frail Ophelia of Hamlet Frail Ophelia of Hamlet Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare makes it evident that Ophelia is very unstable. She continuously changes her mind about the way she feels. Laertes and Polonius command her to do things that she does not agree with, but she does them with no argument. Afraid to stand up for herself, she stands back and watches everyone else control her life. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Ophelia is treated as a marionette with her strings in the hands of the people around her; however, Kenneth Branagh portrays her as independent and innocent, ignoring Shakespeare s representation of her as feeble minded through complete male dominance in her thoughts and actions, her indecisiveness, and digression into madness. Ophelia takes his words to heart and promises to remember what he has told her. In Branagh s movie, he makes this scene look as though Ophelia and Laertes are having a normal conversation. The slanderous words thrown towards Ophelia do not seem to bother her; she goes on about her business as though her brother has praised her instead of insulted her. Ophelia cannot stand on her own because she relies too much on the directions given to her by her father and brother. Ophelia has trouble deciding whether or not she loves Hamlet or thinks he loves her because she does not know how to understand her own feelings. This comes from always letting everyone else tell her what she should think. Polonius questions her about the many tenders of affection Hamlet has shown her and she replies, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.104 105). Later she says that she thinks Hamlet goes mad over her. Throughout the play she contradicts herself, showing she is ambivalent and has no set thoughts; she thinks whatever the person around her at that moment thinks. Ophelia s madness comes about because she cannot stand on her own and focuses too much on the bad things around her. She is very pessimistic; she constantly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Who are these criminals you might ask, and what makes them so special? Good morning___ and welcome to _____. So I will tell you who they are, they are people like you and me, juveniles under the age of 18 who commit atrocious adult crimes but are still tried in juvenile courts. They continue to live their new lives in peace and contentment all while their victims and the families are left to suffer. This is why minors the age of 10 to 17 year olds who commit serious crimes like murder, kidnapping, rape, aggravated assault and armed robbery should be charged as adults. Today I am here to convince you that this is (the right notion and the most effective to decrease crime rates?) They ranged from speaking about dead reverends that she respected to her opinions about the lives of Atheist and Deist. Atheism called out the downfalls that Wheatley believed to be corrupting the lives of those that did not believe in God. She accused Atheists of being self centered and selfish, and she wrote, [t]hy heart in unbelief will harder grow...Thy unbelief disturbs the peaceful mind (Wheatley 130). Since Wheatley had found her freedom in her Christianity, she felt as though Christianity was the sole road to happiness during and after life. Effects of different nutrient conditions on plant growth of wheat seeds ________________________________________ The objective of this investigation was to determine the effects of limiting nutrients on plant growth in different treatment. Nutrient availability is an important factor in plant growth as it enhances the processes taking place in the plants such as primary and secondary metabolic processes. In this investigation, wheat plants were observed in different chemical treatments with limitations to nutrients using statistical analysis. Students were required to scientifically determine whether or not different nutrient conditions affected the overall plant growth over duration of time. The shoot length and biomass of 20 random leaves grown in different chemical media s were measured and this data was used to calculate statistical calculation such as the mean, standard deviation and t value which was compared to the critical t value to determine whether or not the null hypothesis was rejected. It was statistically calculated that the treatments that were nitrogen deficient and phosphorus deficient had a p value greater than 0.05 and treatments that were water and potassium deficient had a p value less than 0.05 in both the plants shoot length and biomass. This lead to the conclusion that nitrogen deficient and phosphorus deficient treatments did have an effect on the plant growth of wheat plants. The 70s seemed laid back without as much crime. Everything is slowed down without a rush. I see happiness and joy. I see fun. • 43. Political Allegory In Alice In Wonderland One historical approach to Carroll s Alice in Wonderland invites the reader to observe the trends, culture as well as the philosophy of the Victorian Era for a personalized interpretation of Alice s encounters in Wonderland. Usage of the Historical approach may seem demoralizing in sheer scope; it is quite imperative to understand that the novel was written during a specific time period that, in itself, contained unique habits and concerns. Within the following pages, the connections with the Victorian erain terms of the middle class upbringing of children, notions of order, reasoning, logic and politesse will be further understood. Political allegory, a powerful theme that reflects brilliantly in the real life to England; the Wonderland, the symbolic England, The novel can be first identified as the direct opposite with characters that jigsaw into the real life. Wonderland was ruled unjustly by the Queen of Hearts, who, correspondingly was Queen Victoria. There were pieces of evidence that Carroll was not overly timid by the Queen. The aristocracy of violence that was assigned to Wonderland (the Queen and the Duchess) as well as the ludicrous mangling of justice in the trial ( Sentence first, then verdict ; the British system indeed at that time in shambles.) are often used as the evidence that Alice belonged to perhaps the genre of political satire more than Carroll had realized. Another political approach is to treat Alice as an allegory for colonization. During the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Through this paper, I will investigate and examine Heart of Darkness by means of Feminist Criticism and literary theory. I aspire to thoroughly analyze the entire narrative, in order to pull out and pinpoint various aspects and examples linked to feminist theory. I want to investigate and spotlight specific occurrences, in the novel, where characteristics of Feminist Criticism can be found or applied. I specifically want to look at the tree women characters introduced in the text; The Intended The Mistress and Marlow s aunt. I also want to prove that Heart of Darknessis a text that openly conflicts with the basis of feminism. To begin this paper, I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Joseph Conrad s novel Heart of Darkness, Marlow s mindset towards women represents the rather widespread viewpoint of the 19th century. Men during this time viewed women as insignificant and inferior. Perhaps that is why there are only three female characters in Heart of Darkness: Kurtz s mistress, Kurtz s Intended, and Marlow s aunt. Marlow references these women with the intention of giving the narrative more gist. Though they certainly perform particular functions in the story, these women don t really correlate with the main premise of the tale. The main theme of the story centers on how Marlow s voyage into the Congo leads him to self discovery. The journey helps to mold and shape his beliefs in humanity and causes him to question morality. At the outset of Marlow s narrative he expresses how he, Charlie Marlow, set the women to work to get a job. Marlow communicates this in the perspective that he was so determined to adventure into the trade commerce that he did what was unconceivable in the time period: he asked a woman for money. The lady, his aunt, seems to surpass the customary role of women during the time period. She tells Marlow that she is overjoyed to aid him in his endeavors. She even instructs him to ask her for help whenever he desires it. This occurrence does not play too much of a role in the overall premise of the tale; it merely functions to tell the reader how Marlow succeeds in getting the finances he needs to ... • 48. A Meta-Analysis of the Impacts of Soy Milk, Skim Milk, and... Five studies were found that coincide with the study selection criteria for on the effects of fermented milk on cholesterol levels. Although some studies do not agree, a consensus can still be reached. Five studies were found that agree consuming fermented milk products helps to lower cholesterol levels. Of these studies Agerbaek et al., (1995) conducted a six week study on fifty eight healthy, non obese males with normal cholesterollevels, all were age forty four. Participants were randomly placed in either the fermented milk or placebo group; the placebo consisted of milk cultured with non living bacteria and the fermented milk was fermented with E. faecium and two strains of S. termophilus. Participants drank 200 ml per day of either fermented or placebo milk. The diet of each individual was not altered at any time during the study. After six weeks, total cholesterol was significantly reduced by 14.3 mg/dL while the placebo had no significant change. LDL cholesterol levels had a 10% reduction, a 16.24 mg/dL decrease while HDL cholesterol levels were unchanged. Agerbaek et al., (1995) determined that fermented milk should significantly decrease total cholesterol and LDL levels in middle aged men. A study by Anderson and Gilliland (1999) came to the conclusion that fermented milk lowered total cholesterol levels by 2.4%, LDL by 2.6% and HDL by 3.9%. • 49. The Consequences Of Evil In The Book Of Job The Book of Job gives an answer as to why bad things happen to good people. God allows people to suffer for the good they will attain in the future, both immaterial and physical. This is why many Christians believe that suffering is not necessarily an evil in itself. The Book of Job also contains elements of Paul Ricoeur s typologies of evil; including the elements of combat and chaos, the questioning of God s goodness, and the tragic existence of man s soul. The Book of Job tells the story of ha satan (the adversary) testing Job s faith by asking God to plague Job with diseases and allow his family to die. God allows Job to be tested by many different tribulations, including ulcers and sores, along with losing his family and property. This brings to question concerning evil: why do bad things happen to good people? The Book of Job gives an answer to this theodicy. It explains how an omnipotent, omnibenevolent, and omniscient God could allow bad things to happen to good people. The Book of Job gives an example of the educational and eschatological theodicy. When applying the educational theodicy, bad things happen to good people because of what they learn from the suffering. In the case of Job, Job learned that God has complete power over mankind, and that man is far beneath Him and everything he has is a gift from God, to begin with. In Chapter 38, verse four, God says to Job: Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? . He then goes on to say that as God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
