The Causes And Outline Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution I.Introduction Beginning in 1775 and ending with a peace treaty in
1783 The American Revolution allowed the 13 colonies to break free from Britain and become
the U.S. They were helped by the French who were so inspired it pushed them to carry out their
plans to revolt as well. II.Background Some causes of the war have been around since the British
first settled. Because the colonies were so far away it took months for news from Britain to reach
them they saw self government as a right when Britain had such a loose reign over them That all
changed when the British controlled all of the land from the Appalachians to the Mississippi River
and Canada after the French Indian war (1754 63) The war left them... Show more content on

H.The Surrender of Cornwallis at Yorktown The end of the war was sudden. British General
Lord Cornwallis marched north to Virginia to follow an American force under the Frenchman
the Marquis de Lafayette. He failed with Lafayette but occupied Yorktown. There, on the
peninsula formed by the York and James rivers, Cornwallis fortified his troops. Washington saw
an opportunity and Admiral François de Grasse of the French navy agreed to help. He used his
fleet to stop a British escape by sea while Washington, with a French and colonial army of 16,000
men, faced Cornwallis on land. There was no battle, but Cornwallis was trapped. He surrendered
his army on 19 October 1781. V.Establishment of the New Nation The final peace treaty (the Treaty
of Paris) was signed on 3 September 1783 in France. The treaty accepted the United States as an
independent nation and set the western boundary at the Mississippi River and Britain kept control
of Canada, which opened, up the lands beyond the Appalachian Mountains, and settlers poured into
the region. At the same time, states set up governments and the country began to establish the

Avoid My Sister s Couch Analysis
Trying to Avoid My Sister s Couch
It all started when I was in elementary school Amy and I would write, direct, act, and edit home
videos. To us it was entertaining, not realizing that later on in life I would return to this creative
endeavor to save my life. Once we entered middle school creating movies was considered uncool
, so we stopped making them. However, I didn t stop it was just the beginning. It was the summer
of 2003 when I was getting ready to go into middle school, but the universe had different plans for
me. My father and his friends brought Bruce Springsteen tickets and they decided to bring their
families along. I went to the show but the whole time I remember complaining of a headache. After

Even though I read the books and listen to motivational podcasts there s something that is
missing from my life. I know you have to think positive, act as if, believe, visualize, and have a
deep relationship with God. However I feel as though I am stuck. My friends are advancing in
their lives and careers. Then there s me, I recently got laid off from my job and I m scrambling
to find a new one, but I know in my heart that whatever regular job I get won t compare to my
dream job, which is to become a screenwriter. Although I try positive affirmations and crafting a
new vision board each year I m still stuck. How can I believe in myself when the people who are
the closest to me don t even believe that I can make it? They laugh at my ideas and they don t
want to hear what I say because they think I m too positive , unrealistic , or in la la land . I want
to prove to my haters, non believers, friends and family members that I can and I will make it,
but how can I do that when it s me going up against the world while I am trying to build my career,
self confidence, trying to get a new job, and deal with every day life situations? I think on the
outside I come off as a positive thinker, happy go lucky person, but I feel as though deep inside lies
the real me which is a pessimist who is scared to believe in

Lizzie Wade Analysis
The main take home message I took from the articles was that genomes hold a part of a way to
show what ethnic group an individual may be associated with. In the article by Lizzie Wade, she
described how it is understandable how someone of German descent has a different genetic
variation than someone from Japan. Wade goes on and mentions that even some ethnic groups may
have many genetic variations within its own. Studying only one ethnic group would not help with
determining how much an individual belongs to a certain ethnic group. That is why researchers
take all genetic variations in account when for example trying to explain the risk of disease or
reactions to different kinds of medications an individual might acquire. The quote by

Martin Luther King s An Indigenous Peoples History Of...
Martin Luther King Jr. once said, the ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad
people but the silence over that by the good people . This quote resonates with me because it
explains how normal it has become in our society to dismiss history or the various forms of
oppression and dominations. Prior to reading An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States, I
had very limited knowledge of the massacres, enslavement and tragedies that the Native Americans
tribes endured because of colonization. As an immigrant to the United States, I did not know a lot
about Native Americans nor were they part of the larger academic conversation. In school the most
we were taught about Native Americans were that Columbus sailed the oceans in 1492, looking for
India but instead he discovered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typically, during these lessons, we were also taught about the pilgrims and how they came to
colonies in search of freedom. In addition to this, there were also conversations about Puritans,
Native American s and a brief description of the trail of tears. My initial response to learning
about the Americas, and the fact that it was not a new world as it is most often referred as was
surprising and informative. In chapter 1, Follow the Corn, it talks about the multiple varieties and
colors of corn, squash, beans, potatoes and other agricultures. I felt a bit ignorant and misinformed
because it had never occurred to me that prior to the Europeans arrival to the new world, there was
some complex systems in place that helped the Natives survive. I think part of this narrow
mindedness comes from what I have been taught, which portrays Native Americans as uncivilized,
tribal people. This chapter was interesting because it introduces

Effects Of The Great Northern War
Great Northern War: The Clash between Two Titans
European history has been filled with war, but none has caused quite the damage like the Northern
Wars. The Northern Wars were a series of campaigns during the 16th century throughout the 18th
century that would leave devastation in the northern regions of Europe. Throughout the series of
wars that contributed to the mass destruction of property and wealth, none could be comparable to
the destruction that the Great Northern war caused. During the beginning of the 18th century, 1700
1721, the Great Northern War engulfed Europe into a time of war and destruction. The result would
cause an immense shift of power within the European nations. The result would cause the
prevention of advancement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The short terms affect of the Great Northern War on the nations that were involved were mostly
territorial changes as well as the shift of power. After the war, Sweden lost much of its territory and
ended its era as one of the most powerful nations in Europe. Russia, the Commonwealth and
Denmark would all gain new territories that they desired both in the Baltic region and Estonia. After
Sweden was defeated, Russia rose as one of Europe s most power nation. Although the short term
impacts were important, there were also long term impacts that would forever change and affect
the course these nations would follow. The destruction caused during the duration of the war
forced Sweden to go into a state of recovery which would take decades to centuries to recover.
This would and prevent Sweden from becoming a major superpower in Europe as well as slow
down its advancement and development to a point that would put it at a disadvantage to other
nations. The nations that gained from this war would enter a golden age of rapid development and
growth. Russia, under the rule of Peter the Great, would enter a golden age that allowed cultural
expansion, prosperity through trade and rapid technological advancement. The legacy that the Great
Northern War left behind would be the influence of the Russian Empire on Europe. The European
nations would be exposed to Russia which made Peter s dream of

Making the Mortar and Pestle
Making the Mortar and Pestle For thousands of years, humans have been creating, designing, and
using tools. In the beginning, these tools were simplistic but effective, and made with natural
materials such as wood, bone, and stone. From these materials, many different tools, such as
hammers, axes, cooking utensils, and many more. For my tool assignment, I decided to make a
simple mortar and pestleout of stone. The reason for picking a mortar and pestle is because it is a
kitchen apparatus that I have always admired, using my mother s whenever given the chance
throughout my childhood. To begin the tool, I knew I needed to find suitable rocks for both the
bowl and pestle. Finding the perfect rock for the bowl proved harder than expected.... Show more

I did this inside the entire circle, until there was a perfectly visible indent where the bowl was
going to be. I spent about four hours with the sandstone chunk in my lap, and continued to
hammer at the center of the bowl for depth, and using angled hits towards the center to shape the
sides. I did end up knapping at another stone to create a sharper hammer stone, so that I could
alternate between the two. The pyramid stone was good for breaking off bigger chunks, but the
sharper stone was good for creating grooves inside the bowl, which is better for the intended
purpose of grinding. After the four hours of constant hacking and chopping, I had a bowl that
was about one and half inches deep. Since I now had a functional bowl, I picked one of my
many river stones to be the pestle. I had originally thought of shaping my own pestle, but this
one river stone fit so nicely in the bowl and in my hand. I tested the mortar with the pestle using
lavender and other plants to see how well it would grind. The mortar and pestle ground material
just as well as a store bought granite one. I had finished the bowl but since the chunk I had
broken from the main slab of sandstone was an awkward shape, I decided to start chipping the
edges to create a nicer shape. This idea had good intentions but went horribly wrong. While trying
to shape the bowl by carefully chipping the edges using glancing blows, and then trying to

Genetically Vigorous Populations
Biodiversity is life s variety. It is the varying genetics that each species carries that makes it different
and unique . Biodiversity is important, not only in evolution, but in survival; when sometimes those
terms can mean the very same thing. Interestingly, biodiversity can mean a variance in the life itself
or within the genetics of a species. In keeping breeding habits within the same lineage, some
animals risk lower biodiversity and sometimes even deformities and disease, as they are able to
more easily pass on unfavorable hereditary traits. In increasing the overall biodiversity, the only
risk is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Species possibly saved as a result of population management include the Koala, Partula snails,
and Sarracenia alabamensis. The koala was experiencing a population decline in Australia
which prompted an initiative known as the Koala Habitat Program. The goal of this program is
to increase the size of the habitat for the koala. The Queensland Government has provided $22.5
million in funding to acquire new land (Queensland Government, 2014). The Partula snail is
another species very critically endangered. As this species population recovers in captivity, the
hope is to release them into the wild. This process has to be done carefully after the African land
snail was imported to a small island in the Pacific and soon got out of control. This snail was
eating the crops that grow on the island. Eventually, a second species of snail, the Florida rosy
wolfsnail, was brought in to prey on the Partula snail to get the population under control
(Marwell Wildlife, 2014). The Sarracenia Alabamensis, also known as the Cane brake pitcher
plant, was in need of a program to stabilize its population. This plant was endangered because it
was located in areas where land was cheap to acquire and when the land was developed, it reduced
the number of plants. The first program

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Film Grain Noise
J. Dai, Oscar C. A., C. Pang, W. Yang and F. Zou [4] proposed technique of film grain noise
which is inherent in analog film stock and is generated in the process of exposing and developing
silver halide crystals. Film grain noise can be modeled as a zero mean Gaussian noise and the
noise variance varies with the intensity of noise free signal. Film grainnoise is temporally
independent. Film grain noise is spatially correlated. The higher the image resolution is, the more
likely that the viewer will perceive the film grain noise. For high definition videos, the film grain
noise is clearly noticeable, and it is the essential part of the natural look of the video, thus, it is
desired to maintain in the encoded video. However, the encoding... Show more content on

Because the number of skipped blocks increases with increasing QP, the complexity of framework
becomes relatively high with increasing QPs compared with the unmodified HEVC.
item Increasing the sliding step size also reduces the efficiency of the FDF based algorithms.
item For example, using a sliding step size of two reduces the complexity by a factor of four and at
the same time also the average bitrate savings are reduced by approximately 2%.
item Together with the noise estimation process, the complexity of the whole in loop denoising
framework is approximately twice the complexity of the interpolation filter, which is especially
visible for high QPs in which the motion compensation process dominates the decoding complexity.

Bat Mitzvah Ceremony
People like to think that a Bat Mitzvah is just a huge party. But it is quite the opposite and has so
much more to it. It is a time of celebration, of a girl becoming a woman in the eyes of her

The Application Of Measuring And Improving Quality
American Quality Experts
The application of measuring and improving quality in the United States have been heavily
influenced by four individuals. This paper will examine the contributions and theories of Walter
Shewhart, W. Edwards Deming, Philip Crosby, and Joseph Juran. Finally, these theories will be
used to develop a proposal for a quality monitoring system for the Pharmacy Department at Munson
Medical Center.
Quality Experts
Walter Shewhart Walter Shewhart, Ph.D., earned both a bachelor s and master s degree from the
University of Illinois (Brombacher Montgomery, 2011). He then went on to the University of
California at Berkley where he earned his doctoral degree in physics. Shewhart developed a theory

This is a technique for learning and improvement containing four phases, plan, do, study and act.
An interesting insight into the basis for this idea is that there is no knowledge with interpretation
of data (Mauleon Bergman, 2009). Nearly 50 years after his death, researchers are continuing to
incorporate Shewhart s principles in an effort to improve quality in healthcare. In a recently
published paper, control charts were used to identify patients who developed adverse outcomes
following elective colon resection (Fry, Pine, Jones Meimbah, 2012). These patients may have
experienced a special cause variation resulting in an increased length of stay in the hospital. An
awareness of the factors that may contribute to the occurrence of these variations may lead to
improved outcomes and decreased costs.
W. Edwards Deming William Edwards Deming earned his bachelor degree in electrical
engineering from the University of Wyoming. He subsequently earned his master s degree as well
as his doctoral degree in mathematics and physics from the University of Colorado and Yale,
respectively. This background in science and mathematics served as his foundation for statistics.
Deming worked extensively in Japan after World War II and was recognized by the Deming
Application Prize awarded by the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (Evans, 2014).

Similarities Between Dawalski And Blanche Dubois
Character is how a person acts when no one else is looking. As a person is portrayed and
perceived they are better understood when unveiling the true personality of an individual rather
than their false persona. Both Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski s performance vary and
differ depending on the situation and the person of interaction. Blanches fluctuating
performance and actions can be found countless times in the book A Street Car Named Desire.
To analyze this personality aspect, Blanche can been seen doing this with her sister Stella
Dubois. Williams reveals this in the lines Now don t get worried, your sister hasn t turned into a
drunkard, she s just all shaken up and hot and tired and dirty , and again in What you are talking
about is brutal desire just desire . The primary evidence can reveal her fraud performance upon
encountering her sister once again. Blanche attempts to portray herself as a traditional, accepted
woman. She pretends to be a woman of no fault and who only drinks on rare occasions. Yet when
the story is further read she can be seen drinking day after day. Blanche can actually be classified
as a drunk seeking to escape from reality. Blanche strives to fulfill the performance of a
conventional day to day woman, in front of her sister Stella. The proceeding evidence is a very
hypocritical statement made by Blanche. Blanche refers to just desire as merely a physical, sexual
aspect between Stanley and Stella. Blanche again exerts her best

Credit Unions Benefits
Why are credit unions a non profit organization and banks are for profit? The Credit Union is
always there to help members achieve their financial goals and it is run by the members. Banks
are run by board of directors and bankers make decisions that increase their profits. Profits made
by credit unions are returned back to members in the form of reduced fees, higher savings rates
and lower loan rates. It is there to mainly serve the members interest rather than to charge the
members. Not for profit, not for charity, but for service. Credit Unions reward members with

Similarities Between Arrow And The Flash
Has there ever been a point in your life that you wished you could be a superhero or
superhuman? Most, if not all, people s answer to that question would be a resounding yes,
including mine. Over the years, more TV shows and movies have begun to incorporate what we
would consider to be our heroes into them. These shows, or movies, consist of a hero, or heroes,
that are typically aided by friends and a team that help them fight evil; two examples of this are
Arrow and The Flash. Hero shows, or movies, can be a quite broad category, but it can be broken
into smaller categories like superhuman heroes, mortal heroes, dark heroes, or otherworldly heroes.

to the first episode of Arrow, The Flash has it s first episode named Pilot as well. It begins with a
flashback to when Barry Allen s, the main character, mom is killed in an unexplainable event
and his dad is convicted of her murder... which Barry believes to be untrue. Now, 14 years later,
Barry works for Central City C.S.I and is quite good at his job. On one particular night a particle
accelerator, created by Harrison Wells and was supposed to change the way everyone thought
about physics, exploded releasing an unimaginable amount of dark energy. Lightning then struck
Barry, which put him in a coma for nine months. After waking up, Barry began to notice certain
things were slowing down... or so he thought. In reality, he was just moving unexplainably fast.
When a man named Clyde Martin that can inexplicably control the weather starts terrorizing the
city, Barry takes it upon himself to take him down. He speaks with Oliver Queen for advice,
Barry knows Oliver is the Arrow, and Oliver tells him that he can inspire people the way he
himself never could. Barry then takes on Clyde Martin head on and defeats him. The storylines
between the two shows are similar because they both begin by showing what made the two heroes
and what made them who they are stemmed from former accidents.

Football Vs Baseball Research Paper
Football and Baseball have many similar ideas but also contradict each other in a variety of ways.
Baseball has many distinctive characteristics. In professional baseball when teams play each
other, they usual play a series within three to four games. Teams usually play two series a week
which results in 6 games week. So as a starter one is looking at around 54 innings a week. Players
usually get an acclaim and one rest day unless one s a starting pitcher. Players get that one rest day
flying to the next city they happen to be playing in. Baseball teams fly much more often than pro
football teams. The location of the game tells one how much a team is traveling.

Football is considered a physical sport for many reasons. On each play in the game of football
one s full speed getting ready to hit someone. As a result of the game being physical many retired
players have major brain injuries and often have post dramatic stress. One sees many articles
about players killing themselves or committing major crimes. Many moms in America are
sagacious to let their son play because it s a dangerous sport. And then we have the people that
say that football being physical turns a boy to a man. With the game being so physical many see
more injuries than in other sports and so therefore much more healing time. As for baseball
there s not really time to prepare for the opponent. That s the complete opposite for football in
professional football. Coaches begin watching film right after they play a game. Coaches try to
Impel an edge by trying to pick apart what their next opponent does best and what they have
trouble doing. Coaches will tell whoever asks that they spend more time preparing than
coaching. Jon Gruden, a sports commentator and former coach, is my mentor. Reading his book,

does not meant that he gets to do whatever he wants. Odysseus thinks that just because he is very

still cheated many times before. When calypso was talking with odysseus you could tell that she

The Shakespearian Play Much Ado About Nothing
The Shakespearian play Much Ado about Nothing explores the position of women in a
patriarchal society and the difficulties they face. This play demonstrates how women in
Elizabethan society were expected to behave in a passive manner, how the men s opinion was
accepted over the females and how women had to conform to men. The over arching idea of the
ideal female was that she was passive and was accepting of her role in society. This theme is
explored throughout the entirety of the playbut is highly demonstrated in Act one scene one of the

One of the most famous pirates of all time is Edward Teach. Historians believe Edward Teach s
original name was Edward Drummond and that he later changed it to Teach after he became a
true pirate. However, there is some mystery that surrounds his real name. There are records
showing that he sometimes went by Thatch, Tach, Tatch, and Tash. These names could very well
be an alias just as much as the next. With all of these names, Edward Teach was most commonly
known as Blackbeard, and that is how he is remembered in history. Blackbeard received his
nickname from his long, black, gruff looking beard that covered most of his face. He never
trimmed his beard, and because of this, it grew down to his chest and was very bushy. During

a very scary look. The effect was terrifying. His face, with its fierce eyes and matted hair, was
wreathed in smoke, and he looked to his prey like a fiend from hell (Botting, Douglas В– The

Essay about Handel and Bach Comparisons
Jacob Zeller
Professor Davidson
History of Music 114:01

Bach v. Handel When thinking of composers, whose works changed the world of music forever,
many names may come to mind. Among those on that list, both Johann Sebastian Bach and George
Frideric Handel are figures whose effect on music has been felt worldwide. Born in the same year,
these composers have much in common and many differences that illustrate their importance to
their era and music as we see it today. Their individualism and creativity influenced much of their
time and together, their works defined the Baroque Period as we know it today. Johann Sebastian
Bach, born in the year 1685, was a German born composer, virtuoso organist and keyboard player, a

His career includes 42 operas, 29 oratorios, 16 organ concerti, over 120 cantatas, trios and duets,
chamber music, odes, and many ecumenical pieces, his most famous work being the Oratorio
Messiah. Composed in 1741, the oratorio was preformed first in Dublin in 1742. It had a
scriptural text from the King James Bible and was written for modest vocal and instrumental
forces. The work, although very much in the style of Handel, is a series of thoughts on the
Christian idea of redemption and utilizes a mixture of traditions. After Handel s death in 1759,
the Oratorio began to gain popularity even further and was adapted to larger scale choirs and
orchestras. Handel has very much influenced the world of music, especially through his operas,
and has grown in popularity throughout the years. As the inventor of English Oratorios and being
so well known for his Italian operas his style and influence is felt around the world even still in
the music of today. So where are the similarities between these two composers? Both being
German and born in the same year, both excelled at organ and studied the music of German and
Italian composers. Being masters at counterpoint, both exhibited similarities in their skills and
styles. Aside from Bach s absence from opera, both composers had remarkable influence on nearly
every contemporary genre. They both made huge impressions on keyboard pieces, being
exceptionally skilled at organ.

Essay On Being A Stage Manager
Next on my list was a regional stage manager, Ruth Kramer. Ruth is based out of New York,
however her last job was in Pittsburgh. As of right now Ruth is between adventures as she so
cheerfully put it. However, the last show she worked on was Equus. Equus was a big show, and
the hardest part was keeping the actors safe. The men played horses, so they had horse masks
and hooves which made it difficult to see and walk around on stage. As for Ruth, the hardest part
was learning the text and material, because this show was about psychology so she had to
research to fully understand the production. Besides that, she said that everything else went well
during the show. However, her director decided to leave for a week instead of the 2 days... Show

The longest she has been without work will be 4 months, which would be from this November
to February 2018. Although she is on the board for Actors Equity Association and is a part of 10
committees she does not need a retail job while she is between jobs. She thinks if you cannot go
a few weeks or even months with our having a job than this is not a business you should be in.
Ruth s advice simply boiled down to you have to absolutely love it if you want to do it. She said
this, there is influx of stage managers and an outflow of jobs . If you find out when you start
you are not good, do not do this as your job. And lastly if you choose to do this you have to be
able to want to stage manage anything. After talking to Ruth, it was put into perspective that I
cannot have any doubts about being a stage manager. My last interview was with a Halloween
Horror Nights stage manager, Madalyn Musser. Madalyn was an assistant stage manager on the
Bill and Ted Show at Halloween Horror Nights this past season. She also oversees certain
sections of entertainment for holiday events at Universal. She said the hardest part of working at
Universal as a whole is the politics. The environment is very competitive, you always have to do
your best to be put on another event. The easiest part is making great connections, because the
more shows you work the more people will recognize you. Madalyn, along with every other stage

The Perceptions Of Grammar On Grammar
Results To answer RQ1, the perceptions of grammar in speaking from both NS teacher and
NNS students have to be found by analyzing the answers from the interview Q2, Q4 and Q5. The
results show that, in terms of the perceptions towards grammar in speaking, NS teacher do differ
from NNS students. NS teacher s answer shows that grammar was very important in speaking,
during the interview, when she was asked about Q4, she said: ...You speak with few repeated
errors, you can never be completely like a native speaker. but there is not clear patterns of errors.
Patterns errors for example, Chinese people always leave out articles, or always messing up
with tense. Well, for a perfect ESL learner who is at high level, they would leave out articles
occasionally, but not always. And tense, they have a good grasp of the tense. For example. When
asked about Q5, she answered: ...The accent isn t really an issue, but speakers who speak fluent
English with lots of grammar mistakes, that s not perfect English. So if the accuracy of the
language... if the person is making lots of grammar mistakes, that s very far from being a perfect
speaker . She underscored the importance of grammar in speaking and she also thought accent was
not an issue for NNS. This finding echos Kormos DГ©nes study (2004), which indicates that
accuracy (grammar), plays an important role in fluency judgment. However, opposite answers were
found in the NNS students answers. Even though there was one student Mary said

The Ocean s Timeline
Before there were good ships, many of the people who were on voyages died on the ocean. Our
high tech ships of today aren t able to withstand its crushing power. It is one of most powerful
natural features on earth. The ocean has many interesting characteristics. Below the water is like
another world. We call these features the ocean profile. The ocean s coastline also has many
interesting qualities. The ocean profile is like the underwater geography of the ocean. The eight
main features are the shoreline, continental shelf, continental slope, trench, Guyot, abyssal plain,

Sea cliffs, beaches, river valleys, bays, sandbars, sea stacks, and sea arches are examples of
coastline features. Sea cliffs are high walls of rock. They are formed when erosion from the
waves takes place on a raised piece of land forming a sharp drop off in the land. Beaches are the
portion of land that is the area between low and high tide. Many beaches are made of millions of
tiny quartz particles called sand. River valleys is a stream that erodes itself into the land
forming a valley. River valleys are an important source of sediments going to the sea. A bay is a
broad inlet of the sea where a sandbar partly encloses it from the sea. A sandbar is a thin piece of
land which curves toward the land usually enclosing a bay. Sometimes sandbars are made of
sediments carried by the waves. Sea stacks are tall narrow rocks along the seacoast. Sometimes
sea cliffs can be eroded by waves into a large arch made of rock. Like the ocean itself, the
coastline is full of beautiful qualities. The ocean profile is full of features like underwater
mountains, cliffs, valleys, volcanoes, and plains. The coastline, which is a feature of the ocean

No Bevan, No NHS 1986
The 5th July 1948, marked the end of of a tireless and extremely ambitious movement to bring
satisfactory health care to each and every resident of the United Kingdom. It was on this date that
Park Hospital in Manchester, was opened by the then health secretary Aneurin Bevan. Opticians,
dentists, pharmacists, nurses and doctors were for the first time brought together, under one
umbrella organisation, to provide services that are free for all at the point of delivery (nhs.uk, 2015)
The Second World War had left a considerable impact, in its wake homelessness, disease and
casualties. Directly, it had led to the establishment of an Emergency Medical Service. Its task was
to oversee the treatment of civilian bombing casualties. At this point, existing authorities such as
local councils, ran the hospitals. This was within a regional framework, with each role being
decided on by the Ministry of Health. The war however did not create new welfare services, but it
did create the political will to change the basis on which these services were offered (Webster,
2001) Comprehensive proposals were further pushed forward by the publication of the Beveridge
Report in 1942 on Social Insurance and Allied Services. It identified the main issues that were
faced by British society and endorsed the idea of a comprehensive health service. Two years later,
the White Paper, A National Health Service(February 1944) was published. The paper summarised

Typewareness In Adrain Frutiger
Moreover, the drive to the core of unawareness is also evident in the realm of graphic design and
type design. In Adrain Frutiger, one of the most well known type artist s eyes, for a typeface to go
unnoticed is the greatest compliment for a type designer and a typographer can receive (Linotype,

transparent or invisible will it communicate contents or ideas efficiently without pushing itself

Frutiger said and made an impressive comparison: If you remember the shape of a spoon with
which you just ate some soup, then the spoon had a poor shape . Furthermore, in light of the
current situation, technically speaking, everything becomes possible, typefaces can be easily
shaped into any forms enlarged, reduced, condensed or expanded, slanted and deformed, all
within seconds. It is a time for type design step out into a new field, beyond technology, the field

Synopsis
I did my this day in history report on Alexander the Great. Alexander the great is known for many
things. He was king of Macedonia, a military genius, and the greatest conqueror of all time to
name a few. Alexander was taught by many great minds, perhaps most responsible for his greatness
was Aristotle. Alexander was given many hard tasks and tremendous responsibilities as a child and
teen, which he carried out with ease. As an adult king, Alexander ruled over Macedoniaand kept it
safe from invasion and rebellion. He then sought to conquer as much of the world as possible.
When Alexander was about 30, a feat in itself, he ruled over the biggest empire in the history of
the world (this record still stands today). Alexander the great died in June 323 B.C. with
mysterious causes of death that are still argued today. He died as the greatest conqueror of all time
and an inspiration to many. Historians are finding amazing new things about Alexander to this day
that continue to amaze everyone and add to his greatness.

Quentin Tarantino Quotes
15 Most Violent Q.T Characters The name Quentin Tarantino is just about synonymous with
violence. It s a common theme in many of his movies along with glamorized crime and quirky
dark humor. Now maybe graphic violence isn t essential to a film s success but his unique style of
delivering violence has made him one of the most iconic directors of all time. While other directors
spew out movie after movie, Quentin remains committed to quality over quantity. And it shows; he
delivers what his audience wants time after time, and keeps them hanging on for more. It s the way
that Quentin uses bloodshed that makes him so unique. First, he chooses a theme that goes hand
and hand in violence such as Wild West, martial arts, or gangsters. Then through outstanding
dialogue, he introduces us to characters that we either love or loathe, either way, we are always
drawn into them. He masterfully builds tension, gets us all worked up... Show more content on

The learning provisions for development in literacy are extremely important and can be reached by

are Speaking, Reading and Writing. These three areas interact with each other and develop the

Whilst in class during a literacy lesson, children with very little English language will complete
early learning games. This could be made up of cards matching pictures to their English word
cards, for example, a picture of a horse will match to the word horse . As their English
progresses, they would become more involved in the lessons that the whole class is doing, but
we would be considerate by using more basic language so that it gives the child confidence in what
they are doing. Correcting their grammar is essential; otherwise they fall into lazy habits. However,
this must be done in a sensitive and caring manner. An example of this is a year 4 Portuguese boy
in my class. He has been with us for 2 years. He recently asked me can I drink water please . I told
him the correct way to ask was can I have a drink of water please . He now asks correctly each time.

development in the setting.
If you are supporting pupils literacy development you will need to be aware of your schools

Physical depreciation is the loss in market value due to wear and tear and the actions of the
forces of nature. It has two classes: curable physical deterioration occurs when repairs add a
value equal or in excess of the cost of the repair. This can be measured using the cost to cure. The
following can be mentioned as a short lived curable physical deterioration: broken window,
leaky plumbing, cracked paint or plaster, worn out floor cover, leaking roof. Incurable physical
deterioration is a situation where the cost of repair exceeds the added value to the property as of
the date of the appraisal. In this case, it is not economically rational to repair or replace. The
depreciated amount is determined using age life ratio out of the total cost new of the item replaced.
The following constitute examples of incurable physical deterioration roof cover, hot water heater,
and carpeting.

The purpose of this report is to provide a strategic analysis of Woolworths in its Australian retailing
and grocery industry. There are some external factors can be affected to Woolworths strategy. To be
analyzed how these factors impact to Woolworths strategies we would use Porter forces five models
as a framework for analysis. They are threats of new entrants and substitute products, rivalry among

environments of Woolworths. In this analysis, we will use SWOT analysis which includes the

There are some reasons can be explained for this reason. Firstly, Woolworths have a high market
share in the industry. In addition, its business size is very big which includes Australian overall
market and some other foreign markets. A lot of selling stores around Australia are good example.
Moreover, the expensive start up costs are another barrier for new competitors. Finally, the high
annual profit of Woolworths is hard for others to enter the retail and grocery industry in Australia.
3.2 Rivalry among established companies
The Australian retail and grocery industry has a high level of concentration ratio because the
available of some major competitors competing in the industry such as Woolworths Ltd, Myer or
Coles (Beaumont, 2004). It means Woolworths have a high concentration of market share in the
Australian retail and grocery industry. In addition, the intensity of those strong competitors is
boosting Woolworths Ltd have been continuously creating a competitive advantage. Using
effective strategy such as low price, selling fresh food, and 24 hour delivery service, Woolworths

other rivals for a strong position in the industry (Porter, 1979).

Dawg Pound Mission Statement
It has been a busy couple of weeks for the Dawg Pound. As Spring moves into the air, the calendar
begins to fill up on what do to as an organization. The big news for Dawg Pound does not come
from an athletic standpoint, but actually from Student Senate. The organization was awarded
funding, which can be used towards various aspects and items in order to enhance the fan
experience at sporting events. This was an extremely important milestone for the organization,
because of how far E Boards the last three years have fought for funding. The fact that I was the
standing President during this accomplishment is obviously rewarding, but once I found out about
the funding I called and thanked the previous Dawg Pound President prior to getting to

Analysis Of Consider The Lobster
Consideration: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others
How do you consider the lobster? David Foster Wallace wrote the essay Consider the Lobster. After
the reading, the essay for the first time the thoughts that went through my head consisted of how the
lobsters were treated and what Wallace thought of the lobsters. The lobsters are chosen out of
usually a pot or a giant tank and then boiled to death. They are placed into a pot of boiling hot
water and the saying that the lobsters are screaming in the pot comes to be true. Some people find
it disturbing to listen to the sound while others cover the pot and not let it bother them. Also, from
the first reading I thought that Wallace was being somewhat hypocritical because I got the idea that
it was acceptable for him to eat and coo ketch lobsters but seeing it done in the setting of a
restaurant, in a larger quantity makes it worse. Gathering all this information again had made me
rethink the essay and look towards the deeper meaning. Wallace committed suicidein 2008 due to
mental illness. So, when we consider the lobster does it mean that to be considerate of it? Another
point I came to was about was mental illness and how in 2008 Wallace committed suicide. When
lobsters are chosen and boiled to eat, those people are sending them to their grave . So, what does
being considerate consist of when discussing a lobster, a dead body and the food we are about to
eat?

The anarchist/women s rights organization Mujeres Libres was a pioneering force in the egalitarian
movement. The organization faced much backlash during its existence solely because it was an
organization of anarchist women during a time when patriarchy and nationalism were the
dominating norms. Therefore, the group had to overcome many obstacles put in place by Spanish
society to prove themselves as both a women s rights and an anarchist organization. Mujeres Libres
used this unique intersection between anarchismand women s rights to bring a distinctive and
specialized approach to equality that proved to be effective for giving a voice to silenced anarchist
women.
Though political fluctuation was abundant in early 1900s Spain, one constant within the society
was its predominantly patriarchal nature. It was a society in which power was not associated with
women, because women were not viewed as equals to men. Consequently, women lived very
restricted lives; their place was limited to the household and their was worth determined by
whether or not they were married or by how submissive they acted towards men. Because of the
society s expectations that women should assume roles within the home, there was a vast
discrepancy between the educational levels of men and women. Higher education was exceedingly
rare among Spanish women and female illiteracy rates reached nearly 70%. ... Show more content

After its creation, Mujeres Libres encountered extensive backlash from other anarchist groups
involved in the Spanish Civil War. These other groups argued that because Mujeres Libres was only

A War General Is What I Am
A war general is what I am. One who stands by the side of France. People address me as Ike, The
Young Lion. In this story, I express my feelings for the hardships of the battles for my people s
liberty. Napoleon is my good, trusting friend who fights alongside me as we work for what is right.
The fundamentals for the start of the French revolution were equality and liberty. Those in power
didn t stand equal in the Meeting of the Estates General. From the beginning, I always believed
that everyone should have a say in government. However, not everyone believes so since the
Third Estate is falling behind in power. The majority of the people in that Estate are commoners
and peasants. Personally I feel bad because I want the poorer part of ... Show more content on

Whoa! The commoners of the Third Estate pledged never to separate and to continue to congregate
until a new constitution for France was written. From that moment, I realized that a revolution was
about to occur amongst France. I was certain. It was obvious.
The Parisians waged war on Versailles. Many people died during this battle, last time I checked
it was 800 people. I ve heard that the main cause for this battle was for resources such as
gunpowder and weapons but I truly knew that we were at the start of a new revolution for our
independence. I certainly wasn t clear on the directions, all I knew was to fight them outside of the
Bastille. I led my brave warriors there hoping that they realized what they were getting themselves
into. They knew. They knew to fight for their right.
The March on Versailles was another attack; this time between the Parisian women and the
Versailles. I count a lot of ladies! Give or take 7,000! They re all carrying pitchforks and muskets!
Last time I went to the market, I noticed that the prices of bread had skyrocketed. This made times
tough for the commoners. Now as for this time, I stood aside from this battle since my Shepherd
Instructor sat me out on this one. However, I would want to stand for the liberty of the commoners.
Their say in the government means little but together as a democratic group is definitely something
worth fighting for.
It was September 5th, and I woke up to the smell of petrichor and

Classical Conditioning Phobias
Many people have severe phobias and report feelings of anxiety and panic when confronted with
these fears. Learning principles may help explain why this anxiety may provide possible
solutions. Some with phobias, report a shortness of breath and a racing heartbeat when
confronted with their fear. One reaction may be a girl who was bitten by a men stray dog. This girl,
let s call her Sally, now cries or cowers behind something whenever a dog is near. Using classical
conditioning we can see how this happened, why she feels this way, and possible look at a way to
end this fearonce and for all. Now let s roll through the classical conditioning model. Starting with
the UCS (Unconditioned Stimulus) this is when Sally gets bitten by the dog. The UCS... Show more

Sally is hysterical, the pain makes her scream as she tries to run away from the dog and hide.
This is a normal response for a child to have. This helps her remember that dogs are bad, in her
mind she feels this, she has been through and experience in which it has stamped itself into her
brain. Now the CS (Conditioned Stimulus) is the dog itself, or dogs in general. The sight of a
dog or even a bark or growl can set little Sally off in a crying or cowering manner. The dog, or
dogs, become the conditioned stimulus because it is the memory of the previous interaction.
After it is all said and done, the sight of the dog or dogs will set her off yes. She will feel
panicked and have shortness of breath., When you are in counter with your fears you tend to
become tensed. You will have anxiety, which creates an uptick in your heart rate, including a
slight shortness in breath. Same thing when people have panic attacks. When you re in counter
with your fear you have nowhere else to run, sometimes, and so this makes you feel shut inside a
small cube, one that you cannot get out. So Sally panics and she tried to run, she will cry at the
sight of a dog or a slight sound of a bark. This is known as the CR (Conditioned response) the CR
is the same as the UCR. Sally will feel like this everytime she sees or hears a dog, unless

Stray Animals Spayed Or Neutered
There is a large population of dogs and cats that have not been spayed or neutered that reproduce
and make the population of the stray dogs and cats in a community grow, which can eventually
lead to an excess of stray pets that is a problem that is much more difficult to tame. To add on,
When an animal is spayed or neutered this means that the animal has had any reproductive organs
removed that disables them from being able to have offspring, spayed being the terminology that is
used for a female dogor catand neutered being the term used for males. It is no question as to
why a grand majority of stray pets have not been spayed or neutered, for the price to have their
reproductive organs removed is rather expensive and not ideally affordable for a vast majority of pet

Essay On College Should Not Be Free
The amount of money that would be put into the colleges would be detrimental to the United

Bell Jar Figurative Language
In the passage, the character of Esther Greenwood represents the struggle of women trying to
hold their place in a modern, yet conservative society. Author Sylvia Plath uses the character of
Esther Greenwood and figurative language to portray the disarming role of society in the 1950s.
The Bell Jar revolves around Esther who is a wonderful student and an aspiring poet. She clearly
struggles with societies expectations which tell her to be both educated and a homemaker. The
dichotomies of her society leave Esther bitter and unable to decide a future for herself. Plath uses
Esther s point of view to reveal the internal struggle felt by many women, including herself, due to
the restraints of contemporary society. She holds herself to impossible... Show more content on

Esther thinks to herself, I felt like a racehorse in a world without racetracks or a champion
college footballer suddenly confronted by Wall Street and a business suit, his days of glory
shrunk to a little gold cup on his mantel with a date engraved on it like the date on a tombstone .
The imagery is astounding and morbid at the same time. The references to helplessness and
death are evident as Esther feels herself pushed and pulled in many directions, all that do not
have any basis. Her future lies in her getting good grades, going to a good college, but not to
pursue her dream as a poet, something she excels in, but rather to find a good man and discard
her years of effort in order to please him. This all leads to the fig tree which symbolizes all of the
potential Esther has as a woman. She can pick whichever path she wants, a wife an editor and
explorer, yet I saw myself sitting in the crotch of this fig tree, starving to death, just because I
couldn t make up my mind which of the figs I would choose . Esther is so torn between the
wants of society and those of her own that she is unable to decide. She doesn t want to disappoint
her mother so she keeps on agreeing with the pretentious fiancee Buddy Willard. Yet the words of
her magazine editor, a successful yet lonely older woman named Jay Cee, still haunt her as well,
telling her that learning another

The Law Is Not Equally Distributed amongst Different...
This paper will show that the law is not equally distributed amongst different economic classes.
Crack vs Cocaine are both derived from cocaine yet the free base form is cheaper and more
available to the lower social economic class yet the punishment is outrageously disproportionate.
Those who have been charger in both classes, wealthy and poor are both promised a fair and
speedy trial yet they aren t given the same resources due to financial means.
Separate but equal
There are multiple issues that concern me in the criminal justice system. However one stands out
above the rest, as it has been a problem since the establishment of our country, and although it has
greatly changed; the fact that it exists is still shocking and disheartening. Laws are not equally
created and punishment is not equally distributed amongst people of different economic class. Laws
benefit the wealthy people while punishing the lower economic class. The outright practice and
flaunting of this policy/procedure is a major issue in the criminal justice system.
Crack vs. Cocaine Laws
In the 1980s, the criticizers of the American criminal justice system complained that the penalties
for possession of crack cocaine were far more severe than the penalties for possession of powder
cocaine. Powder cocaine users were typically white, while Crack cocaine overpowered urban black
communities in America. The federal government wanted to cleanup the problem by ordering
severe prison sentences for those people

  • 2. The Causes And Outline Of The American Revolution The American Revolution I.Introduction Beginning in 1775 and ending with a peace treaty in 1783 The American Revolution allowed the 13 colonies to break free from Britain and become the U.S. They were helped by the French who were so inspired it pushed them to carry out their plans to revolt as well. II.Background Some causes of the war have been around since the British first settled. Because the colonies were so far away it took months for news from Britain to reach them they saw self government as a right when Britain had such a loose reign over them That all changed when the British controlled all of the land from the Appalachians to the Mississippi River and Canada after the French Indian war (1754 63) The war left them... British General Lord Cornwallis marched north to Virginia to follow an American force under the Frenchman the Marquis de Lafayette. He failed with Lafayette but occupied Yorktown. There, on the peninsula formed by the York and James rivers, Cornwallis fortified his troops. Washington saw an opportunity and Admiral FranГ§ois de Grasse of the French navy agreed to help. He used his fleet to stop a British escape by sea while Washington, with a French and colonial army of 16,000 men, faced Cornwallis on land. There was no battle, but Cornwallis was trapped. He surrendered his army on 19 October 1781. V.Establishment of the New Nation The final peace treaty (the Treaty of Paris) was signed on 3 September 1783 in France. The treaty accepted the United States as an independent nation and set the western boundary at the Mississippi River and Britain kept control of Canada, which opened, up the lands beyond the Appalachian Mountains, and settlers poured into the region. At the same time, states set up governments and the country began to establish the federal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Avoid My Sister s Couch Analysis Trying to Avoid My Sister s Couch It all started when I was in elementary school Amy and I would write, direct, act, and edit home videos. To us it was entertaining, not realizing that later on in life I would return to this creative endeavor to save my life. Once we entered middle school creating movies was considered uncool , so we stopped making them. However, I didn t stop it was just the beginning. It was the summer of 2003 when I was getting ready to go into middle school, but the universe had different plans for me. My father and his friends brought Bruce Springsteen tickets and they decided to bring their families along. I went to the show but the whole time I remember complaining of a headache. I know you have to think positive, act as if, believe, visualize, and have a deep relationship with God. However I feel as though I am stuck. My friends are advancing in their lives and careers. Then there s me, I recently got laid off from my job and I m scrambling to find a new one, but I know in my heart that whatever regular job I get won t compare to my dream job, which is to become a screenwriter. Although I try positive affirmations and crafting a new vision board each year I m still stuck. How can I believe in myself when the people who are the closest to me don t even believe that I can make it? They laugh at my ideas and they don t want to hear what I say because they think I m too positive , unrealistic , or in la la land . I want to prove to my haters, non believers, friends and family members that I can and I will make it, but how can I do that when it s me going up against the world while I am trying to build my career, self confidence, trying to get a new job, and deal with every day life situations? I think on the outside I come off as a positive thinker, happy go lucky person, but I feel as though deep inside lies the real me which is a pessimist who is scared to believe in ... • 4. Lizzie Wade Analysis The main take home message I took from the articles was that genomes hold a part of a way to show what ethnic group an individual may be associated with. In the article by Lizzie Wade, she described how it is understandable how someone of German descent has a different genetic variation than someone from Japan. Wade goes on and mentions that even some ethnic groups may have many genetic variations within its own. Studying only one ethnic group would not help with determining how much an individual belongs to a certain ethnic group. That is why researchers take all genetic variations in account when for example trying to explain the risk of disease or reactions to different kinds of medications an individual might acquire. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, the ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over that by the good people . This quote resonates with me because it explains how normal it has become in our society to dismiss history or the various forms of oppression and dominations. Prior to reading An Indigenous Peoples History of the United States, I had very limited knowledge of the massacres, enslavement and tragedies that the Native Americans tribes endured because of colonization. As an immigrant to the United States, I did not know a lot about Native Americans nor were they part of the larger academic conversation. In school the most we were taught about Native Americans were that Columbus sailed the oceans in 1492, looking for India but instead he discovered... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this, there were also conversations about Puritans, Native American s and a brief description of the trail of tears. My initial response to learning about the Americas, and the fact that it was not a new world as it is most often referred as was surprising and informative. In chapter 1, Follow the Corn, it talks about the multiple varieties and colors of corn, squash, beans, potatoes and other agricultures. I felt a bit ignorant and misinformed because it had never occurred to me that prior to the Europeans arrival to the new world, there was some complex systems in place that helped the Natives survive. I think part of this narrow mindedness comes from what I have been taught, which portrays Native Americans as uncivilized, tribal people. This chapter was interesting because it introduces ... The Northern Wars were a series of campaigns during the 16th century throughout the 18th century that would leave devastation in the northern regions of Europe. Throughout the series of wars that contributed to the mass destruction of property and wealth, none could be comparable to the destruction that the Great Northern war caused. The short terms affect of the Great Northern War on the nations that were involved were mostly territorial changes as well as the shift of power. After the war, Sweden lost much of its territory and ended its era as one of the most powerful nations in Europe. Russia, the Commonwealth and Denmark would all gain new territories that they desired both in the Baltic region and Estonia. After Sweden was defeated, Russia rose as one of Europe s most power nation. Although the short term impacts were important, there were also long term impacts that would forever change and affect the course these nations would follow. The destruction caused during the duration of the war forced Sweden to go into a state of recovery which would take decades to centuries to recover. This would and prevent Sweden from becoming a major superpower in Europe as well as slow down its advancement and development to a point that would put it at a disadvantage to other nations. The nations that gained from this war would enter a golden age of rapid development and growth. Russia, under the rule of Peter the Great, would enter a golden age that allowed cultural expansion, prosperity through trade and rapid technological advancement. • 8. Making the Mortar and Pestle Making the Mortar and Pestle For thousands of years, humans have been creating, designing, and using tools. In the beginning, these tools were simplistic but effective, and made with natural materials such as wood, bone, and stone. From these materials, many different tools, such as hammers, axes, cooking utensils, and many more. For my tool assignment, I decided to make a simple mortar and pestleout of stone. The reason for picking a mortar and pestle is because it is a kitchen apparatus that I have always admired, using my mother s whenever given the chance throughout my childhood. To begin the tool, I knew I needed to find suitable rocks for both the bowl and pestle. Finding the perfect rock for the bowl proved harder than expected.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I did this inside the entire circle, until there was a perfectly visible indent where the bowl was going to be. I spent about four hours with the sandstone chunk in my lap, and continued to hammer at the center of the bowl for depth, and using angled hits towards the center to shape the sides. I did end up knapping at another stone to create a sharper hammer stone, so that I could alternate between the two. The pyramid stone was good for breaking off bigger chunks, but the sharper stone was good for creating grooves inside the bowl, which is better for the intended purpose of grinding. After the four hours of constant hacking and chopping, I had a bowl that was about one and half inches deep. Since I now had a functional bowl, I picked one of my many river stones to be the pestle. I had originally thought of shaping my own pestle, but this one river stone fit so nicely in the bowl and in my hand. I tested the mortar with the pestle using lavender and other plants to see how well it would grind. The mortar and pestle ground material just as well as a store bought granite one. I had finished the bowl but since the chunk I had broken from the main slab of sandstone was an awkward shape, I decided to start chipping the edges to create a nicer shape. This idea had good intentions but went horribly wrong. While trying to shape the bowl by carefully chipping the edges using glancing blows, and then trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the varying genetics that each species carries that makes it different and unique . Biodiversity is important, not only in evolution, but in survival; when sometimes those terms can mean the very same thing. Interestingly, biodiversity can mean a variance in the life itself or within the genetics of a species. In keeping breeding habits within the same lineage, some animals risk lower biodiversity and sometimes even deformities and disease, as they are able to more easily pass on unfavorable hereditary traits. Species possibly saved as a result of population management include the Koala, Partula snails, and Sarracenia alabamensis. The koala was experiencing a population decline in Australia which prompted an initiative known as the Koala Habitat Program. The goal of this program is to increase the size of the habitat for the koala. The Queensland Government has provided $22.5 million in funding to acquire new land (Queensland Government, 2014). The Partula snail is another species very critically endangered. As this species population recovers in captivity, the hope is to release them into the wild. This process has to be done carefully after the African land snail was imported to a small island in the Pacific and soon got out of control. This snail was eating the crops that grow on the island. Eventually, a second species of snail, the Florida rosy wolfsnail, was brought in to prey on the Partula snail to get the population under control (Marwell Wildlife, 2014). The Sarracenia Alabamensis, also known as the Cane brake pitcher plant, was in need of a program to stabilize its population. Film grain noise can be modeled as a zero mean Gaussian noise and the noise variance varies with the intensity of noise free signal. Film grainnoise is temporally independent. Film grain noise is spatially correlated. The higher the image resolution is, the more likely that the viewer will perceive the film grain noise. An interesting insight into the basis for this idea is that there is no knowledge with interpretation of data (Mauleon Bergman, 2009). In a recently published paper, control charts were used to identify patients who developed adverse outcomes following elective colon resection (Fry, Pine, Jones Meimbah, 2012). These patients may have experienced a special cause variation resulting in an increased length of stay in the hospital. An awareness of the factors that may contribute to the occurrence of these variations may lead to improved outcomes and decreased costs. W. • 18. The Shakespearian Play Much Ado About Nothing The Shakespearian play Much Ado about Nothing explores the position of women in a patriarchal society and the difficulties they face. This play demonstrates how women in Elizabethan society were expected to behave in a passive manner, how the men s opinion was accepted over the females and how women had to conform to men. The over arching idea of the ideal female was that she was passive and was accepting of her role in society. This theme is explored throughout the entirety of the playbut is highly demonstrated in Act one scene one of the play. In this scene the Audience is introduced to Beatrice she is the opposite of the typical female stereotype of the time as she is independent and she possess a quick wit and a sharp tongue. Claudio is comparing Hero to a rotten orange. He is trying to suggest that she may seem innocent and the ideal women from the outside but on the inside she is disloyal. The language and the way Claudio expressed his hatred and the fact that Claudio is the dominant male in this situation convinces the characters in the play of Hero s wrong doings. Historians believe Edward Teach s original name was Edward Drummond and that he later changed it to Teach after he became a true pirate. However, there is some mystery that surrounds his real name. There are records showing that he sometimes went by Thatch, Tach, Tatch, and Tash. These names could very well be an alias just as much as the next. With all of these names, Edward Teach was most commonly known as Blackbeard, and that is how he is remembered in history. Blackbeard received his nickname from his long, black, gruff looking beard that covered most of his face. He never trimmed his beard, and because of this, it grew down to his chest and was very bushy. During raids, he would braid his long hair and beard and tie slow burning, hemp fuses to the ends of his beard. He would light the fuses during battle to make his head look like it were on fire, giving him a very scary look. The effect was terrifying. His face, with its fierce eyes and matted hair, was wreathed in smoke, and he looked to his prey like a fiend from hell (Botting, Douglas В– The Pirates). Blackbeard s background, like that of most pirates, is obscure (Botting, Douglas В– The Pirates). However, it is believed that Black bead was born in Bristol, England around 1680. Handel When thinking of composers, whose works changed the world of music forever, many names may come to mind. Among those on that list, both Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel are figures whose effect on music has been felt worldwide. Born in the same year, these composers have much in common and many differences that illustrate their importance to their era and music as we see it today. Their individualism and creativity influenced much of their time and together, their works defined the Baroque Period as we know it today. His career includes 42 operas, 29 oratorios, 16 organ concerti, over 120 cantatas, trios and duets, chamber music, odes, and many ecumenical pieces, his most famous work being the Oratorio Messiah. Composed in 1741, the oratorio was preformed first in Dublin in 1742. It had a scriptural text from the King James Bible and was written for modest vocal and instrumental forces. The work, although very much in the style of Handel, is a series of thoughts on the Christian idea of redemption and utilizes a mixture of traditions. After Handel s death in 1759, the Oratorio began to gain popularity even further and was adapted to larger scale choirs and orchestras. Handel has very much influenced the world of music, especially through his operas, and has grown in popularity throughout the years. As the inventor of English Oratorios and being so well known for his Italian operas his style and influence is felt around the world even still in the music of today. So where are the similarities between these two composers? Both being German and born in the same year, both excelled at organ and studied the music of German and Italian composers. Being masters at counterpoint, both exhibited similarities in their skills and styles. Aside from Bach s absence from opera, both composers had remarkable influence on nearly every contemporary genre. They both made huge impressions on keyboard pieces, being exceptionally skilled at organ. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No Bevan, No Nhs 1986 No Bevan, No NHS 1986 The 5th July 1948, marked the end of of a tireless and extremely ambitious movement to bring satisfactory health care to each and every resident of the United Kingdom. It was on this date that Park Hospital in Manchester, was opened by the then health secretary Aneurin Bevan. Opticians, dentists, pharmacists, nurses and doctors were for the first time brought together, under one umbrella organisation, to provide services that are free for all at the point of delivery (nhs.uk, 2015) The Second World War had left a considerable impact, in its wake homelessness, disease and casualties. Directly, it had led to the establishment of an Emergency Medical Service. Its task was to oversee the treatment of civilian bombing casualties. At this point, existing authorities such as local councils, ran the hospitals. This was within a regional framework, with each role being decided on by the Ministry of Health. The war however did not create new welfare services, but it did create the political will to change the basis on which these services were offered (Webster, 2001) Comprehensive proposals were further pushed forward by the publication of the Beveridge Report in 1942 on Social Insurance and Allied Services. It identified the main issues that were faced by British society and endorsed the idea of a comprehensive health service. Two years later, the White Paper, A National Health Service(February 1944) was published. The paper summarised the overall ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I predict that most people would choose the second cover song by Leroy Sanchez because it s a guy who sings and the way he sings it lets you know how he really feels about what he s saying. Method I had to choose an original song; then find two covers of the song and give a survey. I chose Hello by Adele as my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Animal In Me made their version with the same instruments used in the original song and they also kept the same lyrics as well. What they did to better their version, is that they made their Hello with a little mixture of rock and pop music, instead of just pop. While the song Hello by Leroy Sanchez was the same as the original song but was played by a male. My hypothesis was wrong. I predicted that most people would prefer Hello by Leroy Sanchez rather than the one by Adele or The Animal In Me. I thought people would chose Leroy version because it s a softer version of Adele, but because The Animal In Me was something different then what you would normally hear, that s why most people chose them instead. The reason why some covers disappoint listeners is because most artist just remake the song just the way it was originally was instead of changing it up to something new and ... • 41. Analysis Of Consider The Lobster Consideration: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others How do you consider the lobster? David Foster Wallace wrote the essay Consider the Lobster. After the reading, the essay for the first time the thoughts that went through my head consisted of how the lobsters were treated and what Wallace thought of the lobsters. The lobsters are chosen out of usually a pot or a giant tank and then boiled to death. They are placed into a pot of boiling hot water and the saying that the lobsters are screaming in the pot comes to be true. Some people find it disturbing to listen to the sound while others cover the pot and not let it bother them. Also, from the first reading I thought that Wallace was being somewhat hypocritical because I got the idea that it was acceptable for him to eat and coo ketch lobsters but seeing it done in the setting of a restaurant, in a larger quantity makes it worse. Gathering all this information again had made me rethink the essay and look towards the deeper meaning. Wallace committed suicidein 2008 due to mental illness. So, when we consider the lobster does it mean that to be considerate of it? Another point I came to was about was mental illness and how in 2008 Wallace committed suicide. When lobsters are chosen and boiled to eat, those people are sending them to their grave . So, what does being considerate consist of when discussing a lobster, a dead body and the food we are about to eat? Jessica Mitford wrote the essay The Story of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Mujers Fibres Research Paper The anarchist/women s rights organization Mujeres Libres was a pioneering force in the egalitarian movement. The organization faced much backlash during its existence solely because it was an organization of anarchist women during a time when patriarchy and nationalism were the dominating norms. Therefore, the group had to overcome many obstacles put in place by Spanish society to prove themselves as both a women s rights and an anarchist organization. Mujeres Libres used this unique intersection between anarchismand women s rights to bring a distinctive and specialized approach to equality that proved to be effective for giving a voice to silenced anarchist women. Though political fluctuation was abundant in early 1900s Spain, one constant within the society was its predominantly patriarchal nature. It was a society in which power was not associated with women, because women were not viewed as equals to men. Consequently, women lived very restricted lives; their place was limited to the household and their was worth determined by whether or not they were married or by how submissive they acted towards men. Because of the society s expectations that women should assume roles within the home, there was a vast discrepancy between the educational levels of men and women. Higher education was exceedingly rare among Spanish women and female illiteracy rates reached nearly 70%. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The commoners of the Third Estate pledged never to separate and to continue to congregate until a new constitution for France was written. From that moment, I realized that a revolution was about to occur amongst France. I was certain. It was obvious. The Parisians waged war on Versailles. Many people died during this battle, last time I checked it was 800 people. I ve heard that the main cause for this battle was for resources such as gunpowder and weapons but I truly knew that we were at the start of a new revolution for our independence. I certainly wasn t clear on the directions, all I knew was to fight them outside of the Bastille. I led my brave warriors there hoping that they realized what they were getting themselves into. They knew. They knew to fight for their right. The March on Versailles was another attack; this time between the Parisian women and the Versailles. I count a lot of ladies! Give or take 7,000! Author Sylvia Plath uses the character of Esther Greenwood and figurative language to portray the disarming role of society in the 1950s. The Bell Jar revolves around Esther who is a wonderful student and an aspiring poet. She clearly struggles with societies expectations which tell her to be both educated and a homemaker. The dichotomies of her society leave Esther bitter and unable to decide a future for herself. Esther thinks to herself, I felt like a racehorse in a world without racetracks or a champion college footballer suddenly confronted by Wall Street and a business suit, his days of glory shrunk to a little gold cup on his mantel with a date engraved on it like the date on a tombstone . The imagery is astounding and morbid at the same time. The references to helplessness and death are evident as Esther feels herself pushed and pulled in many directions, all that do not have any basis. Her future lies in her getting good grades, going to a good college, but not to pursue her dream as a poet, something she excels in, but rather to find a good man and discard her years of effort in order to please him. Crack vs Cocaine are both derived from cocaine yet the free base form is cheaper and more available to the lower social economic class yet the punishment is outrageously disproportionate. Those who have been charger in both classes, wealthy and poor are both promised a fair and speedy trial yet they aren t given the same resources due to financial means. Separate but equal There are multiple issues that concern me in the criminal justice system. However one stands out above the rest, as it has been a problem since the establishment of our country, and although it has greatly changed; the fact that it exists is still shocking and disheartening. Laws are not equally created and punishment is not equally distributed amongst people of different economic class. Laws benefit the wealthy people while punishing the lower economic class. The outright practice and flaunting of this policy/procedure is a major issue in the criminal justice system. Crack vs. Cocaine Laws In the 1980s, the criticizers of the American criminal justice system complained that the penalties for possession of crack cocaine were far more severe than the penalties for possession of powder cocaine.
