How Pop Music Affects Society
It has been many centuries since the early days of music where it was restricted to classical tunes
and melodic melodies. In this time music has evolved to something of individual celebration,
achievement, and even a battle call for the rights of people everywhere expressed though a large
range of musical genres and styles. Music can be split into different sections based on how it is
produced, what it contains musically, and how it affects the audience through language or
influence. Although every genre of music has a different purpose and twist, pop musicis the most
popular in today s society because of how it is produced, its chord progression, common and
recurring cadences, and its relatable lyrics and by the influential singers behind... Show more

Seung Goo Kim, June Sic Kim and, Chun Kee Chung The Effect of Conditional Probability of
Chord Progression on Brain Response: An MEG Study, showed that structures commonly found
in pop music created spikes in the right anterior portion of the brain, when specific chords are
played in dissonance to the original key, such as a Neapolitan sixth. Pop music has this effect
because it is commonly in a major key and has little to no modulation. This creates a soothing
effect that spikes the brain causing the release of serotonin making the listener happier the more
they listen. Pop music also creates a soothing and pleasing tone that is both powerful and euphoric
through the use of the standard chord progression I V vi VI. This chordal progression is used in
many pop music melodies, choruses, and even establishes a commonality through major structures
that are both pleasing to the ear and the mind. By creating these melodic structures, pop music is
able to give its listeners chordal structure statistical probability. Seung Goo Kim, June Sic Kim and,
Chun Kee Chung The Effect of Conditional Probability, found that year old children were able to
predict tonal sequences found in typical pop music. This is most commonly related to the resolution
to the tonic of any given key. Pop music uses this by relying on strong chords within the key, such
as the dominant and mediant because of their strong relation to the tonic. Other music styles such as
jazz and even some techno rely on weaker chords that stem from the leading tone and sub
dominant. This weak structure calls for resolution and even to the untrained ear tend to cause strain
and discomfort making them less favorable and not follow the conditional probability found in
pop. Pop music s structure also establishes clear and defined parts starting with the verse and then
moving on to a chorus, before returning to the second verse to

Examples Of Historical Accuracy Of Saving Private Ryan
During World War Two a man name Captain John Miller takes his troops to find Private James
Ryan. During the movie, many people died on Omaha Beach. Historically, many people were
injured and died. Saving Private Ryan takes place during a horrific time, however there are still
some historical inaccuracies. How historically accurate is the movie Saving Private Ryan?
Saving Private Ryan is loosely based on a true story of the Niland Brothers. The Niland Brothers
were four paratroopers during World War Two. Two of them died, however for a period of time it
was thought that only one of them survived until it was discovered that the fourth was being held
captive at a Japanese prisoner of war camp. Even though the movie Saving Private Ryan is only...

In World War II, the Germans used what were called Tiger Tanks . The German tanks in the
movie were Soviet T 34 s. The wheels are different and are a key difference in the two as the
wheels are interweaving, however this was done because there is only one functional Tiger Tank
left in the world so the substituted with what they could. Another example of when the movie was
not accurate was when the Americans were fighting the Germans in Romello. During this, there
were two Tiger tans, however historically during this there were none in this specific location. All
of the Tiger tanks were at the Canadian and British fronts in Normandy. Another scene that
contains an inaccuracy is when Captain Miller gets shot and is about to detonate the bridge.
During this he is sat up against a German motorcycle. The motorcycle however is not actually
German and is a Russian Ural M66. This specific motorcycle was not introduced until the 1970 s,
obviously not accurate as the motorcycle is from almost thirty years in the

Multicultural Counseling
In the profession of counseling, one must be aware of the copious amounts of cross cultural
relationships that are realistically going to be put into action throughout a competent career. To a
degree, all people come from different backgrounds and it is significant to the counselor to
comprehend and apply the basic foundations of building alliances with any client. There are
different levels of how people from diverse cultures learn to adapt to one another and being able to
build relations can at times need a counselor. Therefore putting cultural competency and acceptance
at the top of the counseling profession credentials. Within a cross cultural relationship, trust is seen
as the indispensable element. According to Johnson Bailey Cervero... Show more content on

No matter the individuals circumstances, the person in need of counseling has no particular face,
body, or sexual preference. Despair has no bias. As reported by the United States Census Bureau
(2015), there is over 3 million people in America, and of those people at least eight million adults
identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual (Advocate, 2011). These numbers represent a demand that will
be in our population for counseling, and with that must emerge new and innovative ways of therapy
integration. As we continue to research and discover more about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender
(LGBT), we as counselors will be able to seek out resources, training, and experience when working
across the sex and gender barriers. Although we have an estimate of the population of individuals
who define themselves to be a part of the LGBT community, there are only more individuals who
are feeling confused and are harboring sexual attractions and behaviors within. This knowledge is
imperative to grasp in the counseling profession because many individuals may not feel open
enough to talk about such new controversial issues. A clear understanding of what the Lesbian,
Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community undergoes is the first step in becoming competent
enough to providing a positive moving cross cultural experience for both client and counselor.
According to AMCD Multicultural Counseling Competencies, Culturally skilled counselors should
familiarize themselves with relevant research and the latest findings regarding mental health and
mental disorders that affect various ethnic and racial groups. They should actively seek out
educations experiences that enrich their knowledge, understanding and cross cultural skills for
more effective counseling behavior

The Importance Of Winton s Trip To Czechoslovakia
In December of 1938, a friend of Winton s suggested that Winton should skip a planned ski trip,
and go to Czechoslovakia and see if he could help the Czechoslovakian Jews. So, in 1938,
Winton took a trip to Czechoslovakia. He set up shop in a hotel in Prague to organize a plan to
rescue children from Hitler s regime. Winton had no experience in this type of work because,
previously back in the UK, he was a stockbroker. Within a short period of time, he had over 100
children ready to be departed, but the British government would not take him seriously. So, he stole
some documents from an established rescue organization, typed in a section for his rescue and
placed himself as chairmen of that branch. Through that little forgery, he was able to get the British
government to slowly issue travel documents to the children.... Show more content on

All he needed was families to take the children. In a 60 Minutes interview, Winton explained he sent
a letter to the president of the United States, asking to look for families in America to take children
and have ads in American newspapers for the children. Sadly, the letter never made to Roosevelt, in
fact, it only made to an American embassy in London, where they wrote back American
Government is Unable to Help. Winton says it was horrible because if America would open their
country to refugees then they could have gotten a lot more children out of

A Look Into Game Theory Essay
The origins of Game Theory trace back to a letter written by Francis Waldegrave in 1713 which
proposed a minimax mixed strategy solution to a two person card game named le Her. In the
following century Charles Darwin acted as one of the pioneers in broadening the realm of this
theory into the biology of evolution as he applied the theoretic strategy in his argument of natural
selection power to equalize the sex equilibrium ratio in nature. Game Theories initial applications
were restricted to two person zero sum games where the pay off matrix was symmetric, or in other
words that the sum of the payoffs to the two participants maintains a constant value. However,
modern adaptations of game theorycame into play after John von Neumann... Show more content on

If we apply the Nash equilibrium conditions into a situation where there exists an option for both
players to cooperate or to be non cooperative, and none of these participants are aware of the other
s decision, but still knows that she/he can choose either, we have started to establish conditions
ideal for the Prisoner s dilemma. Here each party will look to adapt a dominant strategy, one that
produces an outcome that is most beneficial to them regardless of the other party s strategy.
Although it would be advantageous to each party if they both chose to cooperate, a decision is
made when they each choose a non ideal outcome to protect themselves at the expense of the other
party. Here is where the paradox is made; each participant has followed a completely logical thought
process, yet finds themselves in a worse situation than the hypothetical situation in which they both
cooperated. The logic that brings about this outcome comes from the uncertainty in the other party
s decision.
The dilemma s that often arise in the world of dating are extremely applicable to such modes of
thinking. One of the most commonly occurring dilemma of dating and relationships is the
decision to cooperate or not in the face of any sort of mistreatment. Whether it is being stood up
on a date, or being lied to, the victim of the wrongdoing is faced with the decision of

Importance Of Violent Conflict Is Unethical
In some instances, but very few, violent conflict can be considered ethical. Even in these
situations, violent conflict is only considered ethical to an extent. Times when violent conflict
can be considered ethical are: self defense and revenge. Self defense is only ethical to an extent
because at some point it is no longer self defense. Revenge is only ethical when it is absolutely
necessary, and and at some point it can no longer be considered ethical because it just turns to
violence. One instance where violent conflict can be deemed ethical is a situation where your
entire family has been kidnapped and/or killed by someone or a group of people. Another instance
would be if an entire country is being attacked by another country, and all or most of its citizens
are killed, when there was no true declaration of war. Other than these two possibilities, violent
conflict cannot be considered ethical. Violent conflict is considered unethical because of the
inhumane trauma it causes to people. An example of traumatic violence would be the bombings of
Hiroshimaand Nagasaki, Japan through the use of nuclear weapons. Even though these bombings
might have been necessary at the time, does not mean they were an ethical decision.
A clear representation of how unethical it is to use nuclear weapons is described in John Hersey s
book Hiroshima, specifically in the chapter called The Fire . Hersey describes the horrific view that
Mr. Tanimoto had to live through after the bombing.

Aging Affects The Appetite And Food Intake
Abstract Aging affects the appetite and food intake of a person resulting in a gradual decreasing in
the body weight. Moreover, slower stomach emptying makes the elderly to experience increased
fullness or satiation all the time. The alteration of gut peptides, such as cholecystokinin, insulin,
GLP 1 and Peptide YY during aging modifies satiation and satiety. Moreover, the study collected
data from seven scholarly reviewed medical journals following well defined criteria: must use
scholarly reviewed journals written English and the journals had to align with the topic under
discussion. It demonstrated the differences in satiety and satiation related to age and their unique
responses to gut hormones. Moreover, out of the seven articles, four were controlled trials while
three of them included cohort studies. The keywords used during the study were aging, food intake,
regulate, satiety and satiation. Other studies used in the search demonstrated major strengths, such
as exhibiting the differences in satiety and satiation related to age and their unique responses to the
gut hormones. They also showed the likelihood for the manipulation of nutritional factors like the
meal size, taste, and variety for inhibiting weight gain or weight loss through compensatory
alterations in energy ingestion. The major limitation of the study included their inability to reflect
the general population because the elderly subjects represented successful aging, free of chronic

Victorianism in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Modernism in The Metamorphosis
Victorianism is about how the individual could improve the society. They believed that a good
individual could make the society better as a whole and therefore improve life. Victorians focused
on science and the desire for extremely realistic portrayal of life in both literature and art. Some
aspects of Victorian thinking were retained while others were discarded in a new movement called
Modernism. Modernists focus on the individual but have the view that humans are beings without
free will and that they do not look for guidance within them, but instead are driven by ... Show more

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde showed people that being a good person is the best
thing to do for society and for the individual.
The reason Jekyll is a good example to show the Victorian qualities of science exploration and
the effects the individual has on the world is explained by Masao, In this society of respectables
Dr. Jekyll stands out as the very pink of the proprieties (Chap. 1). Although his studies, like those
of Faust and Frankenstein before him, tend toward the mystic and the transcendental (Ch. 10), he
still manages to maintain a considerable scientific reputation. And yet, despite Jekyll s social role
in fact, because of it it is Jekyll who brings for Mr. Hyde. (Masao 470 480) Masao explains why
Jekyll underwent his transformation and how science heavily influenced his thinking to try this
experiment. Masao also explains that science is possible through the well mannered people of the
time and their questioning of ways to improve society. The Modernism Period was about the
individual and that the individual could not really change society. The Modernist literary period
was marked by the reactions and sentiments towards global change and tragedy. The Modernist
movement began around 1890 and lasted to 1945. Now during this time the World Wars wreaked
havoc on the most culturally, technological, and industrialized parts of the world; which caused

Pierre Elliot Trudeau s Impact On Canada
Pierre Elliot Trudeau, a Francophone born in Montreal, became Canada s 15th Prime Minister,
with his Liberal Party, on April 20th, 1968. He is a vital person who had a tremendously positive
impact on Canada and its civilians. The vision he dreamt of giving birth to a nation with freedom
and peace was achieved a couple of years into his political career. He had his fair share of
downfalls as a Prime Minister, but overall the outcome he achieved of his country was magnificent,
a result no other Prime Minster in Canadian history could attain. The most important change my
Prime Minister made during his term in office was settling the everlasting dispute between the
French and English Canadians. Trudeau was a francophone, just like many other politicians.
However, unlike them, his method to solve this quarrel wasn t trying to get Quebecto separate from

By bringing home the constitution, Trudeau was able to give Canada a chance to gain
independence over its own political policies, apart from the British rule. This hit two birds with
one stone because it also made the French Canadians so happy that they were reluctant in
separating from Canada. The Constitutional Act also included of the Charter of Rights and
Freedom. This is the most memorable thing my Prime Minster did because he is still
remembered today for creating this virtuous Act. It is because of Trudeau that we are able to
openly express ourselves and practice our religion and culture without any restrictions. The
Charter of Rights and Freedoms protects the civil, legal, and democratic rights of civilians. It also
gives the aboriginals, the long forgotten and harshly treated inhabitants of Canada, their legal
rights and freedoms. If it wasn t for Trudeau, we would be living in a non democratic society full

Cinderella, And What s Wrong With Cinderella
For decades, the famous fairy tale that we have all grown so fond of over the decades years has
touched many young adolescent girls in many ways. Perhaps; the story of (Cinderella) has had
such an impact in ways, which, which a young girl gains a stereotypical idea of these fantasies.
The desire for a life lived happilyy ever after that is repetitively pounded into recent generations
of young girls via corporations such as Disney has created a scripted lifestyle, or personality traits
for young girls. Following the analysis of Ever After, Cinderella, and What s wrong with Cinderella
by Peggy Orenstein we can: conclude that the generalization and persistent theme of princesses over

a major profit opportunities for large corporations simply by continuously portraying and
merchandising the fairy taleconcept to young girls around the world. The Film Ever After is one
of many versions on the story of Cinderella. As a young girl Daniel (would be Cinderella) was
different than other girls her age. The film portrays her as a unique girl with a tomboy attitude
who loves her father very much. When her father dies from a heart attack, Daniel is left with her
evil stepmother, as well as the stepsisters. She grows up with these evil relatives in her fathers
house, which the stepmother calls her own after the fathers passing. Spending majority of her days

The Red Guard Group Analysis
What do Girl Scout troops and the Chinese Red Guard groups have in common? At first glance,
there may not be any clear similarities. Girl Scouts are known for selling cookies and helping the
elderly; the Red Guard consisted of Communist teenagers who want to do away with outdated
Chinese culture and traditions. However, if one disregards the surface levels details, there are
fundamental similarities between the two groups: both were popular youth organizations that had a
sense of influence in the community (by selling Samoas or writing dazibaos) and that offered a
sense of community and belonging for the teenagers involved. These two aspects are catnip to
teenagers; hey can make young girls strap on their sashes and Chinese youth fight the... Show more

all wanted to work together to make the dreams a reality. However, this argument is false due to
the fact that just because the youth were swept up in the Cultural Revolution, does not mean they
understood what was happening. In fact, it was very unlikely that they did. In Document D, Fan
Cao discusses her overwhelming ignorance of the matter at hand when she wrote, In fact, we [the
Red Guard] did not even understand what revolution was and how other people in the world really
lived... Cao s quote provides evidence that the vast majority of the Red Guard did not fully
comprehend the severity of the issue of the Cultural Revolution, leading them to offer support for a
cause they do not fully understand. The argument that the teenagers understood and fully agreed

Genetic Transformation Of Genetic Dna
Genetic transformation occurs when an organism s genetic makeup is altered due to the
introduction of new genetic information which is then incorporated into the organism s genome. In
this lab the pGLO plasmid is introduced into E. Coli bacteria, and incorporates the genes which
code for the GFP and beta lactamase to the bacterias genome which as a result will be modified. To
test the effects of the plasmid, bacteria treated with the plasmid were grown on separate plates, the
first containing LB nutrient broth and ampicillin, another containing LB nutrient broth and
arabinose and another containing LB nutrient broth, ampicillin and arabinose. Two more plates
were grown, one with LB nutrient broth and ampicillin and the other with only the LB broth, using
cells that did not contain the plasmid. Since the lab was about genetic transformation, the goal was
to find which plate would glow. It was found that the plates that were not exposed to the plasmid
did not glow, and the plates containing LB and arabinose and LB, ampicillin and arabinose did
glow. The plates containing ampicillin, the antibiotic that kills E. coli did not grow whereas the
remaining plates at least had some growth.

Improving Economic And Social Status Of A Region
Introduction Presently, changes are being experienced in areas where development projects aimed
at improving the economic and social status of a region are being carried. These changes happen to
affect the environment within which the projects are being carried and they often call for strategies
to be developed by the developing body to make sure that these impacts are reduced significantly
(Beer, Au and Hall n.d.). Despite different development projects aiming at bringing about some
positive changes in the society or in a given setting, studies show that the same projects may lead to
conflicts between the environmentand the human activities being carried out in that particular
region. Initially, the campaign for economic growth was viewed as the key for increasing the
standards of living in a given region but very little attention was given to the social and
environmental sensitivity and impacts that accompanied these projects (Chen, Liu and Liaw
2011). As a result, there has been a growing need to reduce the impacts of the projects as well as
making sure that the long term benefits of the projects are maximized in leading to sustainability
of the projects. Therefore, in the case of pipeline industry, there are a number of impacts that the
industry exposes to the environment as cases of spills may happen as well as destruction of the
environment as the pipelines are laid (Even and Porter 2012). These impacts may be reduced and
the sustainability of the projects may be

Diego Rivera Historical Figures
My historical figure was Diego Rivera. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico in 1886. Although he
traveled to different places for his profession of painting and muralisting, his birth and death place
was in Mexico, his home country.
Diego s early life consisted of school, traveling, and drawing. He was inspired by the artist Jose
Posada. At the age of ten, Diego attended the San Carlos Academy of Fine Arts in MexicoCity. He
then traveled to Europe at the age of twenty one, where he was able to work with other artists.
He is known for painting art that reflects the lives of people and the environment. For example, he
would paint the lives of the working class and natives that lived in Mexico. While in Italy, Diego
then found a liking for painting murals which he brought back home to Mexico where the
government funded him to create a series of murals. These murals reflected the country s people
and it s history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Rockefellers, but he made them look bad, and wouldn t stop painting the art for them when they

One interesting fact about my historical figure is that he was born with his twin brother who
passed away before the age of two. Another fact is that he loved drawing so much and started at
such a young age (the age of three), his dad built him his own studio so he wouldn t draw on

Analysis Of The Glass Menagerie
The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee Williams. It is mainly about three characters:
Tom Wingfield, the narrator; Amanda Wingfield, Tom s mother; and Laura Wingfield, Tom s
sister. The family is supported by both Tom and Amanda, working at a shoemaking warehouse
and selling magazine subscriptions respectively. However, with some things unable to work,
Amanda wants Laura to have a man to support both of them, but there are some things that are
restraining her from doing so, such as Laura s disposition. Tom brings a man named Jim O
Connor to satisfy Amanda s wants, but this, too, does not work out. The Wingfields are all stuck
in their own illusions in some way, and Jim is the only escape, coming from the real world. The
Glass Menagerie explores many things in the aspects of a dysfunctional family, using contrasts
between fantasy and reality. The entire play itself is a mixture of reality and illusions due to the
fact that it is a memory play. Tom says in his opening monologue, I give you truth in the pleasant
disguise of illusion... it is sentimental, it is not realistic (Williams 1707 08; scene 1). The play is
based on true and accurate events, but it is from Tom s memory, so some things are exaggerated
more than they should be. Some of the things Tom has experienced may be exaggerated to the point
of illusion, such as Amanda s outbursts throughout the play. The audience does not know the
scenario from an outside point of view, but this is Tom s memory, so

An Ironic Reversal of Professional Perspective in Medical Ethics
The movie The Doctor captures the shortcomings of a mechanized health care industry. Dr. Jack
McKee is a gifted, however, arrogant, and self centered surgeon who cares little about the emotional

It also goes against the requirement of a medical committee member to promote education
regarding medical ethical matters and also to assess and provide patient care by demonstrating
a respect for patient rights. However, despite Dr. McKeen s callous attitude towards his patients,
I believe he would follow the principle of beneficence, a supporting theory about the value of
avoiding harm and helping others. Although he treated his patients in a lackadaisical manner, he
demonstrated his gifted surgical abilities with the ultimate goal to heal them. Even when he is
diagnosed with cancer and scheduled to receive radiation therapy, he s concerned about missing
his scheduled surgeries and continues to go to work despite his sickness. In the beginning of the
movie, Dr McKee was an egoist. Even though he performed the kind actions of operating on
people and saving their lives, he was only acting in his own interest. He didn t actually care
about the patients. On his way walking into a scheduled operation, he stated A surgeon s job is to
cut. Caring is all about time. I d rather cut straight, and care less. He believed he had a right to his
own interest, which was to do his job, and care only about his interests, which is exactly how
egoists think. Towards the end of the film, he turns into

Social learning theory is described by different environmental factors that s influence the
behavioral response of a person (Bandura, 1965). For example, social learning theory assumes a
person bases their responses through an actual environmental stimuli, such as violence. In addition,
when applied to the domestic violence, social learning theory states the actual act of violence is
learned, through role models, such as parents, siblings or relatives as a natural coping mechanism
when conflict is present. As described in the book (I am not your Victim) the countless abuses that
Sam did over Beth was a form coping mechanism for him to avoid the conflicts around. Sam s

Descriptive Essay On Hippie Fishing
Crappie fishing; to most, bring visions of cool spring mornings with fog lingering over the
surface of the lake and burning off shortly after rigging a bobber and a minnow to cast to a brush
pile and wait for the Crappie to find your bait. Classic Crappie fishing to be sure and very effective
to say the least, as many of you, like myself, grew up fishing this way almost exclusively. Crappie
anglinghas changed and progressed into a very technical endeavor and crankbaits is one of those
techniques that works great when crappie begin the fall migration to shallow water following
the shad. When the leaves begin to turn each season, shad begin swimming the shorelines in
large schools providing slab crappie some opportunities to fatten up for the winter. It is during
this time that small crankbaits resembling these shad work great at luring those slabs from
shallow cover. Rip rap and chunk rock banks attract shad as well as big crappie chasing those
shad. A single tree along that rock bank can create an ambush point for big crappie and will
replenish so returning to that cover throughout the day can prove rewarding. My favorite
crankbait is any that resembles a shad. Smaller crankbaits seem to work best but I have switched
to a larger crankbait with good results when the shad is big; however, small crankbaits is your best
choice for consistent bites. Color always comes up in conversations pertaining to crappie.
Personally, I use shad colors, but crawfish patterns and bright

Causes And Consequences Of Global Warming
The Global Issue
Over the years, the increasing concern over how and where our planet is going to be in the next
couple of decades, has been a significant debate to many. With the steady increase of fossil fuels
being released into our atmosphere, and the high cost that our planet is having to pay in order to
support and to sustain such an exponentially growing population, are we still surprised over the
consequences? Connecting everyone from one side of the world to the other, Global Warmingis a
global problem that includes everybody regardless of where you live in the world or how much
money you possess. It has also become a demanding task that requires the participation of every
human being, since everyone can ultimately still decrease their carbon footprint on the world.
Global warming is the observed overall statistical increase in the average temperature of the Earth s
atmosphere and oceans over the years, (Miller, 2006). Being one of the most important issues
facing the world today, this subject has become life or death for our planet. With the average
temperature increasing dramatically every year, consequences such as the greenhouse effect,
which is the outcome of large amounts of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by human
civilizations, has largely impacted ecosystems ranging all the way from the ocean and marine
life to even the most complex organisms, human beings. Acting as a positive feedback loop, a
lot of the things that we do, whether it s opening up a refrigerator that contain CFC s or even
just getting a plastic bag from a grocery store, are contributing to the weakening of our ozone
layer, and to the steady increase of greenhouse gases being released into the air. Plastic is
probably one of the most detrimental materials that has ever been manufactured. With the world
now using approximately six hundred billion pounds of plastic, plastic has become the familiar
cheap material that we all know and come across multiple times a day. Materials like the plastic
bag, zip lock bag, and plastic water bottles, have all been manufactured to be single use items that
are used and thrown away over and over again. Yet unlike paper litter, when plastic bags get into the
environment, they

Essay on Manipulative Kate of All My Sons by Arthur Miller
Manipulative Kate of All My Sons by Arthur Miller
All My Sons is a play about the trials and tribulations of the normal everyday suburbia. The play
brings out the reality that not everything is perfect. Holes are created by the fight between good
and evil. In this play the evil is the act of lying, and the good is the innocence of ignorance. The
play starts with an everyday business man given the age old fight of man versus himself. He had to
decide whether or not to ship defective parts. On the one side if he did not, he would lose his
business and his life as he knew it. On the other hand, he could send parts that could kill innocent
others. Evil came out of him and he lied and shipped the defective parts. Later on twenty one ...

Kate is the only person in the play that never lets go of the thought of Larry. She brings an essence
of sadness of the death of her one son. Chris tries to tell Kate, I ve let him go. I ve let him go a
long [time ago]. It has been a couple of years since the death of her son, and she has yet to put it
behind her. It is tougher on others because of her unrelenting thought of Larry. Chris and Ann
were in love before they even knew it. They made a plan of getting married but the thought of
telling Kate keeps their decision at bay. The plan was for Ann and Larry to get married after his
return. Kate insists the proposed marriage will occur. Chris will also never get approval from his
mother, thus making his marriage obsolete. Kate also greatly affects her husband Joe. She keeps
Joe thinking about the twenty one soldiers that he killed because of his defective parts. Joe tries
to forgive himself for the terrible mistake he caused years back. Kate reminds Joe that her son
Larry could have been one of those soldiers in the sky. Joe tries to assure himself that Larry was
never on one of the planes flown with the damaged engines he made, but Kate keeps pounding the
suggestion into his head. The thought of killing his own son tore apart Joe s mental stability.
Through Kate s unyielding remembrance of her long lost son, she started to greatly affect those

Control Room Essay
Control Room is a documentary directed by Jehane Noujaim that shows the coverage and
interactions between the Arabic news station Al Jazeera and the United States military during
the invasion of Iraq in 2003. This documentary shows interviews and news clips from the
invasion of Iraq. Control Room is mainly told through the point of view of Al Jazeera. Control
Room was an excellent documentary that has impacted me and has given me a new
understanding on the influence of media as well as media freedom. What really impacted me
from this documentary is the interviews and clips about the invasion of Iraq that were used. A lot
of the footage that was shown was propaganda. What I like the most was how it would go back

Media bias is something that I understand really well, however, this documentary made me
realize how much of an impact it has on other countries around the world. I have seen the impact
media bias has had on the United States, but I never realized how much it effects other countries
as well. In the documentary for example, it shows a little kid expressing his feeling towards the
American troops. Our media would have used that clip of that young child as propaganda so
that the general public will support the invasion, but in reality, it was just a child expressing his
feelings. It really shows just how much media bias plays in our society. Another thing that I can
say I took away from this documentary is a new understanding on how much of a significant role
the media played during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. Most documentaries about the 2003
invasion of Iraq usually show American news footage of the invasion, but not Al Jazeera s footage
or coverage. Personally, I really appreciate that this documentary mainly showed and focused on Al
Jazeera s footage so that viewers could see things through different and new perspective. For
instance, I remember watching a documentary on the invasion of Iraq and feeling patriotic when I
first saw the footage of the United States military raising the American flag were the statue of

Political Changes In Cuba
The country of Cuba is a nation that has gone through a great amount of change throughout its
history, especially during the period of the early 1960s up through the late 1970s. However, the
element of Cuba that has gone through the most change was its politics and international relations.
Cuba s politics and international relations with North America, South America, Europe and Africa
have been key factors and the reasons why Cubas economy, society and culture are shaped the way
they are now.
The year Castro and Che Guevara defeated Fulgencio Batista, Fidel took control of Cuba and
crowned himself the new prime minister of his country. The successful revolution represented one
of the most profound social transformations ever seen in the Americas (Strug, 68). Cuba, a country
that has always been controlled by a stronger nation throughout its history, was finally free. As
discussed in lecture, the United States was not happy with the success of the revolution due to the
fact that they had a great deal of investments in the country of Cuba and they could no longer

The Effects Of Socioeconomics On Children s Children
Imagine a boy that has been teased mercilessly by his peers throughout his schooling because of his

the newest and niftiest gadgets; nevertheless, his mother cannot afford to provide food and
permanent housing, much less, these extra luxuries. Therefore, he has to comprise with what his
mother can afford. She tries to provide for her children and wants to offer them the world.
Nonetheless, due to her economic situation, she cannot provide her for children adequately; they
are forced to ask for aid from the government, close family, and friends. This situation brings light to
the turmoil that socioeconomics brings upon children and that they need to endure to survive in
this society. When it comes to socioeconomics, children are the utmost affected. Socioeconomics
has long term effects, prevalently distresses children in school and in development. Through my
friend s experience that he has shared with me, it has allowed me to notice the harrowing effects
that socioeconomics has on children. First, one may ask exactly what is socioeconomic statusand
other terms that surround this issue? Socioeconomic status can be defined as an overall ranking of
a person s position in society based on income, education, and occupation (Benokraitis, 2014, p.

Prozac ( Fluoxetine ) And Suicide
PROZAC (FLUOXETINE) AND SUICIDE
What are the risks?
Since the early 20th century millions of people have suffered with some form of depression,
which is categorized as either Major Depression, Clinical Depression or Major Depressive
Disorder. However it s categorized, the symptoms include severe sadness, inability to cope with
day to day issues, and a general lack of interest in family, friends and/or life in general. Over the
years that astounding number has been both a boon to the economy and a ray of hope for sufferers
in the form of antidepressants. One of the first medications introduced as a treatment in the United
States in 1998, was Prozac (Fluoxetine), which is an SSRIs or Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, which
works to balance out the feelings of pleasure and emotions, which is why it was dubbed the
Happy Pill . It was widely touted to be the solution for the masses, however for many who
suffered with severe depression, it was not such a ray of hope. Prozac soon became associated
with aggression and suicidal tendencies by the media. This paper will support the evidence that
Prozac, while very effective for mild depressive symptoms is linked to aggression and suicide in
both adult and minors who suffer from major depression.

Sylvia Plath Figurative Language
Throughout Sylvia Plath s poem You re she addresses what her life is like as a pregnant women.
This poem was written when she was pregnant with her first child so the emotions she was feeling
were at full throttle. Through her use of similes and metaphors Plath is able to portray these first
time emotions as excitement of a soon to be mother starts to grow.
It is no secret that Sylvia Plath thought very highly of her soon to be child. There is no way
however she can express this love in normal words. She must use figurative language to portray
this new love. For example Plath writes, Gilled like a fish. A common sense (line 3). This is the
first simile she uses in her poem and she uses it to compare her daughter to a fish. Though this ...

she hasn t even met yet, but is so in tune with her emotions she is feeling during her pregnancy
she is able to use these metaphors to show her expectations. Another example would be when
Plath writes, A clean slate, with your own face on (18). This child is new to Plath, new to her
family, and new to the world. By comparing her to a new slate Plath is able to show the reader
that she is creating new life from her own body. To most women a no greater joy can be felt. She

Boy. The Boy would play with the Tree, and talk to it. The Tree would do anything to make the
Boy happy. Time went on, and the Boy grew up and his interest in the Treechanged. In his teen
years it was a place he brought girls and when he was a full grown adult he decided to take from
the Tree because the Tree loved giving. The Boy took the apples from the Tree, he took the
branches to build his house, and he took her trunk to build a boat. The Tree was left, empty, sad,

much it does for us humans, the Boy asks the Tree Can you give me a house? the Tree responds,

prejudice from the non Japanese. Two months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt

Basic Concepts And Components Of Electric Vehicles
Introduction: The purpose for this research paper is to introduce and familiarize students with the
basic concepts and components of electric vehicles. In doing so, we will be able to give a better
and more detailed explanation of the luxurious Tesla Model S electric vehicle s components such as
the battery, its methods of charging and the types of motors that are implemented in the Model S,
and how the Model S sets itself apart from the rest of the competition, whether it be electric

History of electric vehicles: Electric vehicles are praised for their ability to travel a considerable
amount of distance using only electricity without having to constantly stop at gas station to
refuel and in turn decreasing their carbon footprint;however, because they are running on all
electricity and are not using an internal combustion engine, they are able to achieve fast take off
speeds (acceleration) but are unable to acquire fast top speeds because of their lack of gears. In
addition to being unable to achieve high top speeds, it takes the electric vehicles a considerable
amount of time to fully recharge their battery packs and get them back on the road. The Tesla
Model S however is able to go above and beyond the standard electric vehicles in the sense that it

watch how forceful and brutal whites and police officers were to African Americans. They were
verbally and physically abused as an act of oppression. Prince s death can be seen as a result of
oppression. He was not treated right, and did not get the justice he deserved. The unfair treatment

Twinkie Defense Case
Erkarly Avendano AJ002
11.02.17
It s Not My Fault I am picking the Twinkie Defense because the criminal justice system should
hold someone criminally liable for their actions unless they were unconsciously aware of their
actions while committing an act. The court should hold anyone responsible for their action and not
determine and not go based off a strange defense such as a Twinkie Defense. For those who commit
a crime should be fairly punishable. Dan white strange defense after committing 1st degree
murder set standards in America and it came to be called the Twinkie Defense. It transformed the
defenses in America and sent a message to the criminal defense bar. After Dan white assassinated
the mayor and Mike people knew exactly why he had done it. White s murder act had absolutely
nothing to do with Twinkies. Dan white had the intention to kill and the video states He had very
deliberately taken his revenge, loaded a handgun and hidden in his jacket, had 10 extra bullets in his
pocket. Therefore, they informed us by telling us his intentions for the double homicide were
present at the time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dan White was an emotional reckless person who made moral decisions. The court and defense
viewed White as a victim of the double homicide and found White not guilty of 1st degree
murder. White acted out of anger and white believed he needed to stand up for those who
counted on him. As white made his way to the mayor s office he waited for him to look away and
shot fired. White shot the mayor in the shoulder and the chest and then later shot twice more into
his head and reloaded. There were a few people who saw Dan White come down from the mayor s
office and mentioned nothing about

Dr. Josef Mengele s Cruel Experiments During The Holocaust
Dr. Josef Mengele s Cruel Experiments
During the Holocaust, Dr. Mengele was the symbol of Nazi cruelty and mysticism due to his
tortuous experiments, mass murders, and gruesome experiments done in the name of science. The
starting of Mengele s experimental interests began when he became anxious to make a name for
himself; he searched for the secrets of heredity. The Nazi ideal of the future would benefit from
the help of genetics. If Aryan women could give birth to blonde and blue eyed children, the future
could be saved (Rosenburg, Mengele s Children: The twins of Auschwitz ). In 1937 Dr. Josef
Mengele joined the Nazi party, then in 1938 he went to the SS. In 1942 he was wounded at the
Russian front and pronounced unfit for duty. After that he volunteered... Show more content on

He was sent to the death camp, Auschwitz. Mengele was nicknamed the Angel of Death ; he
became the surviving symbol of Adolf Hitler s Final Solution (Louis BГјlow, Angel of Death ).
Mengele tested a number of methods in effort to develop an efficient and inexpensive procedure
for the mass sterilization of Jews, Roma, and other groups that were considered to be racially or
genetically undesirable ( Nazi Medical Experiments ). Besides that he had a fascination for
finding twins once the arrival ramps came and other unique children to begin doing experiments
( Who was Josef Mengele ). As a doctor at Auschwitz, Mengele rarely offered treatment to those
who were sick. His treatment for any disease that might cause an epidemic was simple, if even
one prisoner showed symptoms of a contagious disease every inmate in that barrack would be
gassed and the barrack disinfected. He was known to do this on over 30 occasions (Nazi Medical
Experiments). He had hoped to use the

Paean Etymology
Etymology The name of Apollo itself though not Paean, a possible name of a precursor god to or
epithet of him is generally considered to be absent from the Linear B (Mycenean Greek) texts
although it is possible that the name is in fact attested in the lacunose form ]pe rjo [ (Linear B: ]J
[) on the KN E 842 tablet.[4][5][6] The etymology of the name is uncertain. The spelling
бј€
ПЂПЊО»О»П‰ОЅ (pronounced [a.pГіl.lЙ”Лђn] in Classical Attic) had almost superseded all
other forms by the beginning of the common era, but the Doric form Apellon
(бј€
ПЂОО»О»П‰ОЅ), is more archaic, derived from an earlier *бј€
ПЂОО»jП‰ОЅ. It probably
is a cognate to the Doric month Apellaios (бј€
ПЂОµО»О»О±бї–ОїП‚),[7] and the offerings
apellaia (бјЂПЂОµО»О»О±бї–О±) at the initiation of the young men during the family festival
apellai (бјЂПЂОО»О»О±О№).[8][9] According to some scholars... Show more content on

R. S. P. Beekes rejected the connection of the theonym with the noun apellai and suggested a Pre
Greek proto form *Apalyun.[12] Several instances of popular etymology are attested from ancient
authors. Thus, the Greeks most often associated Apollo s name with the Greek verb
бјЂПЂПЊО»О»П…ОјО№ (apollymi), to destroy .[13] Plato in Cratylus connects the name with
бјЂПЂПЊО»П…ПѓО№П‚ (apolysis), redemption , with бјЂПЂПЊО»ОїП…ПѓО№П‚
(apolousis), purification , and with бјЃПЂО»Оїбї¦ОЅ ([h]aploun), simple ,[14] in particular in
reference to the Thessalian form of the name, бјЊПЂО»ОїП…ОЅ, and finally with
бј€
ОµО№ОІО¬О»О»П‰ОЅ (aeiballon), ever shooting . Hesychius connects the name Apollo with
the Doric бјЂПЂОО»О»О± (apella), which means assembly , so that Apollo would be the god of
political life, and he also gives the explanation ПѓО·ОєПЊП‚ (sekos), fold , in which case Apollo
would be the god of flocks and herds. In the Ancient Macedonian language ПЂОО»О»О± (pella)
means stone, and some toponyms may be derived from this word: О ОО»О»О± (Pella,[15] the
capital of Ancient Macedonia) and О ОµО»О»О®ОЅО· (PellД“nД“/Pallene). A

Doubt By John Patrick Shanley
In Doubt, a play by John Patrick Shanley, a nun, named Sister Aloysius, tries to prove that a
priest, named Father Flynn, has sexually assaulted a child. Father Flynn has taken Donald Muller,
the first African American student, under his wing and Sister Aloysius sees this as a lion going
for easy prey . Sister Aloysius tells another nun, named Sister James, to watch out for anything out
of the ordinary, because she suspects Father Flynn to be a sinful man. She puts evil ideas into
Sister James s mind, and she leads her to accuse Father Flynn of being informal with Donald
Muller. Sister Aloysius is biased and judgmental, she is trying to prove that Father Flynn has
sexually assaulted a young boy because she believes Father Flynn is a man... Show more content on

tells her of how Donald Muller acted after he returned from a meeting with Father Flynn He

  • 2. How Pop Music Affects Society It has been many centuries since the early days of music where it was restricted to classical tunes and melodic melodies. In this time music has evolved to something of individual celebration, achievement, and even a battle call for the rights of people everywhere expressed though a large range of musical genres and styles. Music can be split into different sections based on how it is produced, what it contains musically, and how it affects the audience through language or influence. Although every genre of music has a different purpose and twist, pop musicis the most popular in today s society because of how it is produced, its chord progression, common and recurring cadences, and its relatable lyrics and by the influential singers behind... Seung Goo Kim, June Sic Kim and, Chun Kee Chung The Effect of Conditional Probability of Chord Progression on Brain Response: An MEG Study, showed that structures commonly found in pop music created spikes in the right anterior portion of the brain, when specific chords are played in dissonance to the original key, such as a Neapolitan sixth. Pop music has this effect because it is commonly in a major key and has little to no modulation. This creates a soothing effect that spikes the brain causing the release of serotonin making the listener happier the more they listen. Pop music also creates a soothing and pleasing tone that is both powerful and euphoric through the use of the standard chord progression I V vi VI. This chordal progression is used in many pop music melodies, choruses, and even establishes a commonality through major structures that are both pleasing to the ear and the mind. By creating these melodic structures, pop music is able to give its listeners chordal structure statistical probability. Seung Goo Kim, June Sic Kim and, Chun Kee Chung The Effect of Conditional Probability, found that year old children were able to predict tonal sequences found in typical pop music. This is most commonly related to the resolution to the tonic of any given key. Pop music uses this by relying on strong chords within the key, such as the dominant and mediant because of their strong relation to the tonic. Other music styles such as jazz and even some techno rely on weaker chords that stem from the leading tone and sub dominant. This weak structure calls for resolution and even to the untrained ear tend to cause strain and discomfort making them less favorable and not follow the conditional probability found in pop. Pop music s structure also establishes clear and defined parts starting with the verse and then moving on to a chorus, before returning to the second verse to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the movie, many people died on Omaha Beach. Historically, many people were injured and died. Saving Private Ryan takes place during a horrific time, however there are still some historical inaccuracies. How historically accurate is the movie Saving Private Ryan? Saving Private Ryan is loosely based on a true story of the Niland Brothers. The Niland Brothers were four paratroopers during World War Two. Multicultural Counseling In the profession of counseling, one must be aware of the copious amounts of cross cultural relationships that are realistically going to be put into action throughout a competent career. To a degree, all people come from different backgrounds and it is significant to the counselor to comprehend and apply the basic foundations of building alliances with any client. There are different levels of how people from diverse cultures learn to adapt to one another and being able to build relations can at times need a counselor. As reported by the United States Census Bureau (2015), there is over 3 million people in America, and of those people at least eight million adults identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual (Advocate, 2011). These numbers represent a demand that will be in our population for counseling, and with that must emerge new and innovative ways of therapy integration. As we continue to research and discover more about lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), we as counselors will be able to seek out resources, training, and experience when working across the sex and gender barriers. Although we have an estimate of the population of individuals who define themselves to be a part of the LGBT community, there are only more individuals who are feeling confused and are harboring sexual attractions and behaviors within. This knowledge is imperative to grasp in the counseling profession because many individuals may not feel open enough to talk about such new controversial issues. A clear understanding of what the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community undergoes is the first step in becoming competent enough to providing a positive moving cross cultural experience for both client and counselor. According to AMCD Multicultural Counseling Competencies, Culturally skilled counselors should familiarize themselves with relevant research and the latest findings regarding mental health and mental disorders that affect various ethnic and racial groups. The Importance Of Winton s Trip To Czechoslovakia In December of 1938, a friend of Winton s suggested that Winton should skip a planned ski trip, and go to Czechoslovakia and see if he could help the Czechoslovakian Jews. So, in 1938, Winton took a trip to Czechoslovakia. He set up shop in a hotel in Prague to organize a plan to rescue children from Hitler s regime. Winton had no experience in this type of work because, previously back in the UK, he was a stockbroker. Within a short period of time, he had over 100 children ready to be departed, but the British government would not take him seriously. A Look Into Game Theory Essay The origins of Game Theory trace back to a letter written by Francis Waldegrave in 1713 which proposed a minimax mixed strategy solution to a two person card game named le Her. In the following century Charles Darwin acted as one of the pioneers in broadening the realm of this theory into the biology of evolution as he applied the theoretic strategy in his argument of natural selection power to equalize the sex equilibrium ratio in nature. Game Theories initial applications were restricted to two person zero sum games where the pay off matrix was symmetric, or in other words that the sum of the payoffs to the two participants maintains a constant value. If we apply the Nash equilibrium conditions into a situation where there exists an option for both players to cooperate or to be non cooperative, and none of these participants are aware of the other s decision, but still knows that she/he can choose either, we have started to establish conditions ideal for the Prisoner s dilemma. Here each party will look to adapt a dominant strategy, one that produces an outcome that is most beneficial to them regardless of the other party s strategy. Although it would be advantageous to each party if they both chose to cooperate, a decision is made when they each choose a non ideal outcome to protect themselves at the expense of the other party. Here is where the paradox is made; each participant has followed a completely logical thought process, yet finds themselves in a worse situation than the hypothetical situation in which they both cooperated. The logic that brings about this outcome comes from the uncertainty in the other party s decision. The dilemma s that often arise in the world of dating are extremely applicable to such modes of thinking. One of the most commonly occurring dilemma of dating and relationships is the decision to cooperate or not in the face of any sort of mistreatment. • 7. Importance Of Violent Conflict Is Unethical In some instances, but very few, violent conflict can be considered ethical. Even in these situations, violent conflict is only considered ethical to an extent. Times when violent conflict can be considered ethical are: self defense and revenge. Self defense is only ethical to an extent because at some point it is no longer self defense. Revenge is only ethical when it is absolutely necessary, and and at some point it can no longer be considered ethical because it just turns to violence. One instance where violent conflict can be deemed ethical is a situation where your entire family has been kidnapped and/or killed by someone or a group of people. Another instance would be if an entire country is being attacked by another country, and all or most of its citizens are killed, when there was no true declaration of war. Other than these two possibilities, violent conflict cannot be considered ethical. Violent conflict is considered unethical because of the inhumane trauma it causes to people. An example of traumatic violence would be the bombings of Hiroshimaand Nagasaki, Japan through the use of nuclear weapons. Even though these bombings might have been necessary at the time, does not mean they were an ethical decision. A clear representation of how unethical it is to use nuclear weapons is described in John Hersey s book Hiroshima, specifically in the chapter called The Fire . Hersey describes the horrific view that Mr. Tanimoto had to live through after the bombing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The reason Jekyll is a good example to show the Victorian qualities of science exploration and the effects the individual has on the world is explained by Masao, In this society of respectables Dr. Jekyll stands out as the very pink of the proprieties (Chap. 1). Although his studies, like those of Faust and Frankenstein before him, tend toward the mystic and the transcendental (Ch. 10), he still manages to maintain a considerable scientific reputation. And yet, despite Jekyll s social role in fact, because of it it is Jekyll who brings for Mr. Hyde. Masao also explains that science is possible through the well mannered people of the time and their questioning of ways to improve society. The Modernism Period was about the individual and that the individual could not really change society. The Modernist literary period was marked by the reactions and sentiments towards global change and tragedy. The Modernist movement began around 1890 and lasted to 1945. The vision he dreamt of giving birth to a nation with freedom and peace was achieved a couple of years into his political career. He had his fair share of downfalls as a Prime Minister, but overall the outcome he achieved of his country was magnificent, a result no other Prime Minster in Canadian history could attain. Genetic Transformation Of Genetic Dna Genetic transformation occurs when an organism s genetic makeup is altered due to the introduction of new genetic information which is then incorporated into the organism s genome. In this lab the pGLO plasmid is introduced into E. Coli bacteria, and incorporates the genes which code for the GFP and beta lactamase to the bacterias genome which as a result will be modified. To test the effects of the plasmid, bacteria treated with the plasmid were grown on separate plates, the first containing LB nutrient broth and ampicillin, another containing LB nutrient broth and arabinose and another containing LB nutrient broth, ampicillin and arabinose. Two more plates were grown, one with LB nutrient broth and ampicillin and the other with only the LB broth, using cells that did not contain the plasmid. Since the lab was about genetic transformation, the goal was to find which plate would glow. It was found that the plates that were not exposed to the plasmid did not glow, and the plates containing LB and arabinose and LB, ampicillin and arabinose did glow. The plates containing ampicillin, the antibiotic that kills E. coli did not grow whereas the remaining plates at least had some growth. • 14. Improving Economic And Social Status Of A Region Introduction Presently, changes are being experienced in areas where development projects aimed at improving the economic and social status of a region are being carried. These changes happen to affect the environment within which the projects are being carried and they often call for strategies to be developed by the developing body to make sure that these impacts are reduced significantly (Beer, Au and Hall n.d.). Despite different development projects aiming at bringing about some positive changes in the society or in a given setting, studies show that the same projects may lead to conflicts between the environmentand the human activities being carried out in that particular region. Initially, the campaign for economic growth was viewed as the key for increasing the standards of living in a given region but very little attention was given to the social and environmental sensitivity and impacts that accompanied these projects (Chen, Liu and Liaw 2011). As a result, there has been a growing need to reduce the impacts of the projects as well as making sure that the long term benefits of the projects are maximized in leading to sustainability of the projects. Therefore, in the case of pipeline industry, there are a number of impacts that the industry exposes to the environment as cases of spills may happen as well as destruction of the environment as the pipelines are laid (Even and Porter 2012). • 16. Analysis Of The Glass Menagerie The Glass Menagerie is a play written by Tennessee Williams. It is mainly about three characters: Tom Wingfield, the narrator; Amanda Wingfield, Tom s mother; and Laura Wingfield, Tom s sister. The family is supported by both Tom and Amanda, working at a shoemaking warehouse and selling magazine subscriptions respectively. However, with some things unable to work, Amanda wants Laura to have a man to support both of them, but there are some things that are restraining her from doing so, such as Laura s disposition. Tom brings a man named Jim O Connor to satisfy Amanda s wants, but this, too, does not work out. The Wingfields are all stuck in their own illusions in some way, and Jim is the only escape, coming from the real world. The Glass Menagerie explores many things in the aspects of a dysfunctional family, using contrasts between fantasy and reality. The entire play itself is a mixture of reality and illusions due to the fact that it is a memory play. Tom says in his opening monologue, I give you truth in the pleasant disguise of illusion... it is sentimental, it is not realistic (Williams 1707 08; scene 1). The play is based on true and accurate events, but it is from Tom s memory, so some things are exaggerated more than they should be. • 23. Causes And Consequences Of Global Warming The Global Issue Over the years, the increasing concern over how and where our planet is going to be in the next couple of decades, has been a significant debate to many. With the steady increase of fossil fuels being released into our atmosphere, and the high cost that our planet is having to pay in order to support and to sustain such an exponentially growing population, are we still surprised over the consequences? Connecting everyone from one side of the world to the other, Global Warmingis a global problem that includes everybody regardless of where you live in the world or how much money you possess. It has also become a demanding task that requires the participation of every human being, since everyone can ultimately still decrease their carbon footprint on the world. Global warming is the observed overall statistical increase in the average temperature of the Earth s atmosphere and oceans over the years, (Miller, 2006). Being one of the most important issues facing the world today, this subject has become life or death for our planet. With the average temperature increasing dramatically every year, consequences such as the greenhouse effect, which is the outcome of large amounts of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by human civilizations, has largely impacted ecosystems ranging all the way from the ocean and marine life to even the most complex organisms, human beings. Acting as a positive feedback loop, a lot of the things that we do, whether it s opening up a refrigerator that contain CFC s or even just getting a plastic bag from a grocery store, are contributing to the weakening of our ozone layer, and to the steady increase of greenhouse gases being released into the air. Plastic is probably one of the most detrimental materials that has ever been manufactured. With the world now using approximately six hundred billion pounds of plastic, plastic has become the familiar cheap material that we all know and come across multiple times a day. Materials like the plastic bag, zip lock bag, and plastic water bottles, have all been manufactured to be single use items that are used and thrown away over and over again. Yet unlike paper litter, when plastic bags get into the environment, they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The play brings out the reality that not everything is perfect. Holes are created by the fight between good and evil. In this play the evil is the act of lying, and the good is the innocence of ignorance. The play starts with an everyday business man given the age old fight of man versus himself. He had to decide whether or not to ship defective parts. On the one side if he did not, he would lose his business and his life as he knew it. On the other hand, he could send parts that could kill innocent others. Evil came out of him and he lied and shipped the defective parts. Later on twenty one ... She keeps Joe thinking about the twenty one soldiers that he killed because of his defective parts. Joe tries to forgive himself for the terrible mistake he caused years back. Kate reminds Joe that her son Larry could have been one of those soldiers in the sky. Joe tries to assure himself that Larry was never on one of the planes flown with the damaged engines he made, but Kate keeps pounding the suggestion into his head. Our media would have used that clip of that young child as propaganda so that the general public will support the invasion, but in reality, it was just a child expressing his feelings. Twinkie Defense Case Erkarly Avendano AJ002 11.02.17 It s Not My Fault I am picking the Twinkie Defense because the criminal justice system should hold someone criminally liable for their actions unless they were unconsciously aware of their actions while committing an act. The court should hold anyone responsible for their action and not determine and not go based off a strange defense such as a Twinkie Defense. For those who commit a crime should be fairly punishable. Dan white strange defense after committing 1st degree murder set standards in America and it came to be called the Twinkie Defense. • 43. Dr. Josef Mengele s Cruel Experiments During The Holocaust Dr. Josef Mengele s Cruel Experiments During the Holocaust, Dr. Mengele was the symbol of Nazi cruelty and mysticism due to his tortuous experiments, mass murders, and gruesome experiments done in the name of science. The starting of Mengele s experimental interests began when he became anxious to make a name for himself; he searched for the secrets of heredity. The Nazi ideal of the future would benefit from the help of genetics. If Aryan women could give birth to blonde and blue eyed children, the future could be saved (Rosenburg, Mengele s Children: The twins of Auschwitz ). In 1937 Dr. Josef Mengele joined the Nazi party, then in 1938 he went to the SS. In 1942 he was wounded at the Russian front and pronounced unfit for duty. After that he volunteered... Besides that he had a fascination for finding twins once the arrival ramps came and other unique children to begin doing experiments ( Who was Josef Mengele ). His treatment for any disease that might cause an epidemic was simple, if even one prisoner showed symptoms of a contagious disease every inmate in that barrack would be gassed and the barrack disinfected. He was known to do this on over 30 occasions (Nazi Medical Experiments). He had hoped to use the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Paean Etymology Etymology The name of Apollo itself though not Paean, a possible name of a precursor god to or epithet of him is generally considered to be absent from the Linear B (Mycenean Greek) texts although it is possible that the name is in fact attested in the lacunose form ]pe rjo [ (Linear B: ]J [) on the KN E 842 tablet.[4][5][6] The etymology of the name is uncertain. The spelling бј€ ПЂПЊО»О»П‰ОЅ (pronounced [a.pГіl.lЙ”Лђn] in Classical Attic) had almost superseded all other forms by the beginning of the common era, but the Doric form Apellon (бј€ ПЂОО»О»П‰ОЅ), is more archaic, derived from an earlier *бј€ ПЂОО»jП‰ОЅ. It probably is a cognate to the Doric month Apellaios (бј€ ПЂОµО»О»О±бї–ОїП‚),[7] and the offerings apellaia (бјЂПЂОµО»О»О±бї–О±) at the initiation of the young men during the family festival apellai (бјЂПЂОО»О»О±О№).[8][9] According to some scholars... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... R. S. P. Beekes rejected the connection of the theonym with the noun apellai and suggested a Pre Greek proto form *Apalyun.[12] Several instances of popular etymology are attested from ancient authors. Thus, the Greeks most often associated Apollo s name with the Greek verb бјЂПЂПЊО»О»П…ОјО№ (apollymi), to destroy .[13] Plato in Cratylus connects the name with бјЂПЂПЊО»П…ПѓО№П‚ (apolysis), redemption , with бјЂПЂПЊО»ОїП…ПѓО№П‚ (apolousis), purification , and with бјЃПЂО»Оїбї¦ОЅ ([h]aploun), simple ,[14] in particular in reference to the Thessalian form of the name, бјЊПЂО»ОїП…ОЅ, and finally with бј€ ОµО№ОІО¬О»О»П‰ОЅ (aeiballon), ever shooting . Hesychius connects the name Apollo with the Doric бјЂПЂОО»О»О± (apella), which means assembly , so that Apollo would be the god of political life, and he also gives the explanation ПѓО·ОєПЊП‚ (sekos), fold , in which case Apollo would be the god of flocks and herds. In the Ancient Macedonian language ПЂОО»О»О± (pella) means stone, and some toponyms may be derived from this word: О ОО»О»О± (Pella,[15] the capital of Ancient Macedonia) and О ОµО»О»О®ОЅО· (PellД“nД“/Pallene).
