Literal Interpretations In Greek Mythology
Interpretations are explanations that result from understanding something (The Real Dictionary).
There are two main types of interpretations that are used in Greek mythology. There is literal
interpretation and personification interpretation. Both types of interpretations have impacts on the
moral responsibility within the stories. Literal interpretation is an interpretation based on the exact
wording (The Real Dictionary). Literal interpretation of the Greek Gods means taking the information
provided in the scenario and taking it literal and word for word. There isn t any beating around the
bush during literal interpretation. Literal interpretation has remarkable consequences when it comes to
moral responsibility. Because literal interpretation interferes in one s life, it is in control of one s
actions, not that person. Moral responsibility takes place when one is in control of their own actions.
And when one is not in control of their own actions, moral responsibility ... Show more content on

The literal interpretation of that specific scenario would be that there is a goddess that literally takes
Paris away from that confrontational scenario. But that is not the case. In that specific scenario, where
Aphrodite interferes between a situation that involved Paris and Menelaus, that would mean that Paris
is not in control of his actions, meaning he has no moral responsibility. Personification is a figure of
speech where human qualities are given to animal, objects, thoughts or ideas (Literary Devices).
Personification is a literary technique that draws attention to the humanistic characteristics in which
make non human objects become symbols for humanistic characteristics. Personification interpretation
in Greek mythology suggests that the Gods should be viewed as symbols for humanistic traits rather
than actual

Homeless People in the World
Homeless people in the world: what are the reasons for it and what are the methods to solve the
problem. Today it is unfortunately homelessness is very wide and is spreading rapidly around the
world. The causes may be quite different: it can be a high rent for housing, low pay, mental disability,
loss of all family members, etc. When people are in a difficult situation, they need to survive, they
have not so much alternatives, so they go out on the streets and begging for money. In different
countries in different ways the government is trying to solve the problem of homeless people, but the
result is still the same. What should we do? How can we help the homeless people?
During the time when people started to do lots of research, about homeless people. Have they
concluded that usually those who are forced to live on the street are people who: lived in poor areas,
had no jobs, drugs, low education etc. Since we know what the main reasons for homelessness are and
we have the information we need, it may be possible to avoid and help the people in the beginning
before they become homeless.
What I think is that the government must reverse itself more to the people who really need help in the
poor area. And I mean now help them really both material and moral. Trying to solve the
psychological problems which the ex. parents who abuse alcohol, children who are badly in school,
etc. They should send the specialists who do their job and can help. I think that if the government

Research Paper On Christmas In Australia
What is a down under Christmas like? Australia is known as the land Down Under for its position in
the southern hemisphere. Australia is the world s largest island and also the world s smallest
continent. The seasons in Australia are opposite to the United States. Christmas festivities begin in late
November, when schools and church groups present Nativity plays. When Australians celebrate
Christmas on December 25, it is during summer vacation. Many of the traditions in Australia are
similar to the traditions in the United States. Homes are decorated, families enjoy a holiday meal,
attend church together, Santa Claus is part of the Australian Christmas and during the entire month of
December they sing carols.

Some families put up a Christmas tree. They also hang stockings at the edge of their bed, and listen
their all time favorite books like Christmas Wombat and Bush Christmas.
On Christmas Eve, families attend church together. Some children expect Father Christmas to leave
gifts, and others wait for Santa Claus to visit and deliver gifts. After opening presents on Christmas
morning, the family sits down to a breakfast of ham and eggs. Then the family goes to church again.
Christmas Day is when families and close friends gather together from all over Australia. The
highlight of the day is the holiday meal in the middle of the day.
Finally, one of my favorite parts about learning Australia Christmas, is that they have huge bonfires at
the end of the day. They get together and hang out, they tell stories to each other. Also they gets laughs
in, and play around making up time that they didn t get to spend with each other over the past year or
so. Christmas is one of my all time favorite holidays! Who wouldn t enjoy getting to spend time with
family, and friends, and getting together hearing stories from your elders or your grandchildren that s

Benito Mussolini And His Creation Of Fascism
Benito Mussolini and his creation of Fascism was the glue that held Italy together. Fascism promised
national unity and condemned the Socialist party. To understand how Fascism became powerful within
Italy, it is imperative to acknowledge the driving force behind this regime. To put it bluntly, violence
played an essential role in the development of the Fascist party. Mussolini s practice of fierceness was
able to create a formidable system of government that did not tolerate weakness. In 1919, Benito
Mussolini give an Afternoon speech, where he stressed the difference between Socialism and Fascism.
Here, he states, We declare war, against socialism, not because it is socialism, but because it opposes
nationalism (Stone 2013, 38). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, he states, We must go halfway toward meeting the workers... we must approach the workers
who are returning from the trenches...we must therefore accept the demand of the working class
(Stone 2013, 38). In making this comment, Mussolini argues that the working class should be valued
and recognized for their hard work and contributions. Where, his government will appreciate the
common people, the Socialist party has done nothing but abandoned them. The socialist party does not
care about taking responsibility of their citizens: those who have returned from war, those who work
many hours without sufficient pay or insurance. Mussolini wanted to get the people on his side and to
illustrate for them a world of economic democracy.
Furthermore, to answer the main question, violence was always Mussolini s goal but in order for that
to happen Mussolini had to make sure he had the people s trust. With that trust, he was able to
manipulate individuals. Actually, some of the workers joined the Fascist squad and became just as
violent as the soldiers were. During the Afternoon s speech Mussolini also states, But let us not dwell
on the details. Of all questions to be resolved, the first that interest us the most is that of creating a
governing class and endowing it with the necessary powers (Stone 2013, 39). Prior to this he talked
about political reforms and having equal rights for both men and

Should College Athletes Be Paid Essay
College athletes being paid to play, good or bad? This would be for the athletes that are going to be
competing at the Division 1 level. According to NCAA s official website a study was done and the
stats showed that the highest percent of all athletes that would play D1 was 12.3% which was for
lacrosse. The highest percent that the students would go play at the highest level which is Division 1 is
.7% which is for volleyball. This is a very small amount of student athletes that get to go n to the next
level of play and maybe to the professional league. So it would make sense that the athletes that are
able to play at the highest level should be paid to do whatever sport it is that they are playing. People
argue that the D1 athletes kinda get paid by the full ride scholarships that they receive. Well the
athletes who play in the pros make money so why shouldn t the players who play at the highest level
be paid in the lower bracket of competition. One of the main reasons that they consider that college
athletes be paid is due to the workload of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

these athletes should not be paid and should only receive scholarships. If you really think about it
though, giving a student a scholarship is paying them. The university is giving the athlete a portion or
the whole price of tuition just to attend and play for them. That is paying the athlete because the
athlete doesn t have to pay for school whereas some who just chooses to go there and pay. The athlete

Coding Graphic Design
Is Coding Important in Graphic Design? Despite what some new graphic designers say, coding is still
an important part of graphic design. This is hotly debated because graphic designers can use many

An Intimate Experience With An Audience Through A Film
I wanted to create an intimate experience with an audience through a film. I needed to get started. I
had researched on forums, websites even Youtube on advice on how where I could start. Most places
said, to begin with, something you already owned. In my case, It was the iPhone 5s. I had used my
phone for a year to take photos and videos when I had recently decided to upgrade to the Canon T6i.
After using the camera for a couple of months now, I wanted to see the similarities and differences in
functionality that the iPhone 5s had compared to the Canon T6i.
A similarity that is consistent with the iPhone 5s and the Canon T6i is the user interface. The user will
interact with the devices by using its buttons and touch screens. The iPhone 5s and Canon T6i have
many similar buttons such as the on/off, home screen and volume buttons. The on/off button allows
the user to get their device started to take pictures. The home screen button redirects the user of an
iPhone to a screen with apps, while a user of the Canon T6i to a screen with many camera settings.
The iPhone 5s and the Canon T6i have touch screens. The touch screen adds comfort to the user. It is
also a familiar feeling to most technology users since the touch screen is very common in 2016.
A second similarity between the two devices is their camera functions. The basic camera functions that
are available to the Canon T6i and iPhone 5s includes the zoom in/out, flash, single/continuous shots
and self timer. This

How The Roman Catholic Church s Stance On Peaceful...
Conversion in Medieval Iberia can invoke ambivalent feelings. Christians originally wanted to convert
Jews and Muslims through kind words and religious teachings from the Bible. This idea, nevertheless,
evolved over the centuries and Christians began converting non believers through violence and
compulsion. Also, even after individuals were converted, Christians did not fully trust their
motivations, and believed they would remiss into their old religions. While Marian miracles did help
alleviate these tensions, a number of vicious acts were committed against Jews and Muslims during
this time period. In this essay, I am going to examine the idea of conversion from the Christian
perspective, and how Christians were able to tempt Jews and Muslims to convert. I am also going to
compare the contradictory nature of converting through peaceful and violent means. This comparison
will showcase how the Roman Catholic Church s stance on peaceful conversion was overcome by
local Christian communities. Conversion is the act of changing one s religion to another religion.
During the twelfth to fifteenth century in Medieval Iberia, a number of Jews and Muslims converted to
Christianity. To Christians, conversions represented the elimination of dangerous enemies and the
ongoing triumph of the new Israel. Christians viewed themselves as the chosen people, as they
believed that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save them, and formed a new covenant, while the Jews
spurned him and

How Did Shakespeare Use Supernatural In The 1600s
General Background on the Supernatural in 1600s: During the Elizabethan times, which were the late
16 century, people believed in ghosts, spirits, witches, and other elements of the supernatural. This era
was famous for witch hunting and trials. This period that lasted from 1400 to 1700, made up the
famous Salem witch trials of the late 16th century. England imposed the 1562 Elizabethan Witchcraft
Act to forbid conjurations, enchantments and witchcrafts. This was under the reign of Queen Elizabeth

was why any treasonous act against him was accompanied by bizarre supernatural happenings.
Shakespeare s reason to include supernatural elements in this play was to create a great effect in his
contemporary audience s minds, and that was by taking advantages of their beliefs in

What Is Prejudice In America
Prejudice in America? I see it as more than just in America, it is more like a world wide problem. It
affects from homeless people to the rich in our society. In America, when we think of prejudice we
often think of it in terms of Black and White. However, prejudice is much more than that. It is a term
that can encompass many things like racism, sexism, homophobias, anti immigrant, religious
persecution, etc. What is prejudice? Prejudice can mean many things but according to a dictionary it
means:
preconceived opinion that is not based on reason or actual experience . In America this is still a

On October 4, 2016 we started a body farm lab on still birth pigs. We were to observe the

we observed were a naked and clothed pig suspended in the air, a naked and clothed pig on asphalt,
naked and clothed pig on grass, naked and clothed pig on grass in the dirt, naked pig with a gunshot
wound, naked pig with a stab wound, and a naked pig that has been burnt. After observing we were to

How Did The Spanish American War Cause Ww2
During his presidency William McKinley said, War should never be entered upon until every agency

century the people were longing for an opportunity to keep up with other empires and they took the
first chance they approached. They saw war with Spain as a quick way to prove supremacy and saw
plenty of benefits. The Spanish American war was inevitable for America because the people had a
strong drive for global power and influence and although it was not completely necessary it resulted in
positive outcomes and later greatly helped progress the country. Conflicts between America and the

Americans were caught up in ideas to develop global dominance and when they heard about the
tribulations that Spain was causing they used it to take action and start a war that they could easily win
and gain veneration and intimidation from. The Spanish American war was one of the shortest wars in
American history but it changed the fate and global status of America forever. After the sinking of the
battleship in Havana, McKinley was still reluctant to use harsh force against Spain even though he
received pressure from newspapers including New York Journal calling him weak and a petty
politician for not yet getting involved. On April 9, 1898 congress officially gave the president power
to order troops into Cuba. Theodore Roosevelt was the Secretary of the Navy and a highly regarded
member of the government, his encouragement to start the war greatly influenced the president and he
too changed history. Later in the month of April McKinley went to congress asking for permission to
declare war on Spain because they had refused to recall troops from harming Cubans, but before
congress could respond Spain had already declared war on America. President McKinley s first
military action was to blockade Cuba from Spanish ships and the war official began on April 25, 1898.

The Scottish And Scottish Government
Modern Scottish politics was established in 1999 , then called the Scottish Executive rather than the
Scottish Government. The current Scottish Government has control over a certain number of devolved
matters whilst Westminster in England retains control of decisions affecting the whole of the United
Kingdom. This modern day form of Scottish politics was very much influenced by the events and state
of a post war Britain in which many people across Scotland wanted change and more independence
from the London centric Westminster. A number of the aspects of the modern Scottish devolved
political system intentionally vary from certain ones of Westminster in an effort to be more
representative of the Scottish people and will be analysed and evaluated in this essay.
There are many key developments in the process which led to the establishment of a devolved Scottish
Government. In the 1960s in Scotland constitutional issues noticeable and important to many people
and following the 1979 Referendum in which the Yes campaign lost due to the Cunninghame
amendment that required at least forty percent of the electorate to vote yes , the Scottish National
Party (SNP) took nearly a decade to recover . In the 1980s the case for Scottish devolution was based
on the idea that Home Rule would be able to solve the democratic deficit and also prevent the
Westminster government from imposing itself and decisions on Scotland . It was also seen as way of
Scotland rejecting and going against

Eastern Europe s geography allowed and encouraged many diverse people to easily conquer its land.
The history of Eastern Europe has been marked by migration, foreign conquest, war and revolution.
The region is home to a mix of diverse people who have often battled with each other and many

As a buffer and crossroads, Eastern Europe reaches from Central Europe to Russia. Also, it reaches
from the Baltic Sea and through the Balkan Peninsula. Much of the region lies on the European plain .
Its main rivers, the Danube and the Vistula allowed goods and cultural influences to travel along river
routes. This led to the Balkans in the south feeling the impact of the Byzantine empire and the Muslim
Ottoman empire. Because of the ease of its accessibility, Eastern Europe was the perfect target for

Everything Dali Paints Symbolizes Something Else Essay
Dali s Vision
The painting Dream Caused By The Flight Of A Bee Around A Pomegranate A Second Before
Awakening was painted by Dali in 1944. The painting is an oil on canvas painting with a dimension of
51cm x 40.5 cm. Salvador Dali was a prominent Spanish surrealist painter born in Spain. In his
masterpiece he uses many different lines and colors to enhance what is going on in the painting. He
illustrates a fruit, a fish, tigers, a rifle and a woman wearing no clothes sleeping. With every single
object and or living thing shown he is making a statement and everything in the painting itself
symbolizes something in the world. Dali s Caused by the flight of a bee around a pomegranate a

The two tigers increase the seriousness of their aggression, while only one does not. Also, the rock is
seen frequently throughout the painting, in the far sea beyond both the woman and the wild animals,
the cliff, and lastly the flat rock over which the woman is floating. As such, the firmness of the rock is
repeated. Moving on the artwork is very metaphorical with the woman representing humanity or more
explicitly, innocence and all that is good. The rock that she is floating above represents moral
principles. The tigers thinking themselves to be triumphant, over the restful woman without the
support of the solid rock. Meanwhile, the antagonism of animals, and more precisely, the dismays of
battle are about to descend upon the people like a downpour. The evil and horrors came from the
sweet nectar of the pomegranate, which seemed to be so blameless on the outside, but filled with
mischievousness and destruction. After all the forbidden fruit was a pomegranate according to what
has been said.
Similar with the paintings focus is in the bee flying around the smaller pomegranate. This elephant,
with its long legs and its great load, characterizes the worldly greed, which also differed from the
traditional principles, Its long legs represent its disregard for others, especially those in need, like the
woman who is about to be attacked. As a result, the elephant is no better than the tigers about to

Chapter 4 Explaining Globalization
Scholte briefly examines six differing theoretical approaches to explaining globalization what are
they? What is the central theme of each?
Liberalisms Liberalist position globalization is, at the most elementary level, a result of natural human
desires for economic welfare and political liberty. As such, increased transplanetary connectivity is
ultimately derived from human drives to maximize material well being (through markets) and to
exercise basic freedoms (as guaranteed by publicly accountable government). For liberalists
globalization is an outcome of people s strivings to escape poverty as well as to achieve civil and
political rights. On a liberalist account it is inherent in market ... Show more content on

In these cases, transplanetary connectivity is said to have arisen because of the way that people have
mentally constructed the social world with symbols, language, interpretation, and so on. From
ideational perspectives, globalization has resulted from particular forms and dynamics of
consciousness. For methodological idealists, patterns of production and governance are second order
structures that derive from deeper cultural and socio psychological forces. Such accounts of
globalization have come especially from the fields of Anthropology, Humanities, Media Studies, and
Sociology, although idealist arguments have also influenced some researchers in Geography, Politics
and even Business Studies. One type of ideational explanation is constructivism, an approach that has
been popular particularly since the 1990s among International Studies scholars in North America and
Western Europe who wish to develop an alternative perspective to liberalism and political realism. As
the theory s name suggests, constructivism concentrates on the ways that social actors construct their
world: both within their own minds and through inter subjective communication with others.
Particularly, constructivists examine how inter subjective communication generates common
understandings of reality, shared norms for social behaviour, and notions of group identity and
solidarity. Conversation and

A Brief Look at Anna Freud
Anna Freud once said, Creative minds have always been known to survive any kind of bad training.
This quote makes absolute sense. If something is bad creative minds come up with ideas to make it
fun or interesting instead of boring and ordinary. This is also proven by the fact that several people are
raised in negative situations and yet still lead successful lives. This can also be said about non creative
minds. If a person gets everything given to them such as a rich person, they don t have to work
towards a goal and do not have to come up with any new ways to do anything. Anna Freud
accomplished a lot through her life time from her childhood until her death and even after. Anna Freud
was the daughter of Sigmund and Martha Freud of Vienna. She was the youngest of six children. She
was born December 3, 1895. She went to school at the private school, Cottage Lucreum. She lived a
very unhappy childhood and grew up very distant from her siblings. Her main sibling rival was her
sister older sister, Sophie. When Sophie got married it made Anna very happy to see her go. Sophie
was said to be very beautiful. After Sophie left and got married, Anna wrote a letter to her father in
which she said that she was happy to see Sophie go not just for her getting married but because now
the constant competition that they had between each other was now over and she had all of her father s
attention focused on her.

Gabrielle Toledano Essay
Gaming as an industry has been evolving over the past few years to be more inclusive. Prior to this
shift, the industry has been riddled with discrimination against many different individuals based on
sex, gender, and race. While this still occurs today we have many companies and leaders making a
push to diversify and include all the members of the gaming community. Gabrielle Toledano is the
chief talent officer at EA, also know at Electronic Arts, and she is one of the many leaders pushing for
diversity and inclusion in our virtual spaces.
Listed as one of Forbes most powerful women in 2008, Gabrielle has been on a career path
intertwined with inclusion for many years. She originally started as an HR business partner with

nor did she feel that she had a clear and fast enough moving career path. As such she began to take

crafting the doctrine. She has spoken multiple about how more women need to be introduced to the
STEM fields, along with a belief that women need to push through the idea of sexism in the gamming
communities and establish themselves with in companies. And this really does show with the influxes

David And Goliath Beliefs
Contest of David Goliath: The Philistine army had gathered for war against Israel. David volunteered
to fight Goliath. As Goliath moved in for the kill, David reached into his bag and slung one of his

fell face down on the ground. David did the right thing in spite of discouraging insults and fearful
threats. Only God s opinion mattered to David.

Irving Independent School District V. Tatro Case Study
Special education programs and services are available in many school and are fast growing. In a high
school, a principal named Debbie Young has been presented with a situation with the parents of a
special education student. Mrs. Young has been a special education teacher and assistant principal in a
progressive and affluent school district in the South. Mrs. Young was approached by the parents of
Jonathan a severely disabled tenth grader whose parents want him to attend one of the schools in the
district. He is profoundly mentally disabled, has spastic quadriplegia, and has a seizure disorder. Mrs.

Garrett F. (1999), is a case presented to argue that Debbie Young s decision to refuse Jonathan to
attend one of the schools in the district is wrong. In the case of Cedar Rapids Independent School
District v. Garrett F. (1999), Garrett is a student who is quadriplegic and is ventilator dependent,
therefore, he requires an individual nearby to attend to certain physical needs while he is in school.
His parents provided nursing services at school until he entered fifth grade. They then requested that
the school district to provide the services. The school district declined. The parents filed a suit against
the school district. In the end, the court agreed with the parents. It was granted that nursing services
were not related services, instead excluded medical services. Meaning that the student needed these
services to attend school. This case would help Jonathan s parents to prove that Mrs. Youngs refusal of
Jonathan was not right. Students with special needs have rights and protections under IDEA which
means that there must be some services provided to for them if its needed for them to attend school. In
their IEP, that is prepared for each student to receive special education services, a school must provide

Nowadays, College students have been recognized at risk for the development of anxiety. According
to nursing (2006), anxiety is natural reactions to threatening situations. Your body has a fight or flight
reaction your heart races, you breathe faster, you sweat, and your stomach and head may ache .
Therefore, UWS College has provided students with many useful services such as counselling service,
disability service, international student service, workshops and programs.
Inam, Saqib and Alam (2003) believed that students experience anxiety and depression because of
many reasons. Firstly, this is because the high volume of techniques to be absorbed and the
requirement of academic performance. For example, the negative impacts of stress on medical
students contain the weakness of functioning in laboratory performance and clinical exercise, stress
induced disorders and reducing performance. To solve this problem, learners should seek the advice of
school counsellors. A research indicated that students who have been panic from the examination
failure can manage pressure by improving their feelings of self control. They can enhance those skills
by having appropriate learning strategies, suitable self instructions as well as relaxation time. In this

Even today rich people buy political power at the cost of money. One they get political power, they

Mitigating Computer Fraud in the Online Environment
Mitigating Computer Fraud in the Online Environment Introduction Crime on the Internet is creating
stunning losses for people as well as organizations of all kinds (Internet Crime Complaint Center,
2009; Mensch Wilkie, 2011). The necessity to inform and educate faculty, staff, and students of the
diversity of threats and methods to protect and mitigate organizations and individuals from these
threats is practically a moral imperative. People who lack the fundamental skills and knowledge to
safeguard themselves and the institutions they attend or work for, cost those institutions and

The greatest percentage of thefts of private information is from incorrectly stored backup tapes,
external hard drives, or laptops. Existing laws order companies to alert affected individuals of a
potential breach of their data. It is expected that the price tag of the typical breach of educational data
will span from $210,000 to as much as $4 million from the costs of notifying affected individuals
alone (Custer, 2010). Still, another type of cybercrime concerning human error is scams. In 2011 more
than 20,000 recorded infringements involved four types of crime (Internet Crime Complaint Center,
2011). One of these types was FBI related scams, in which someone impersonates a FBI agent to cheat
victims, while another is personal identity theft, in which someone uses the victim s personal
identifying data to perpetrate a crime. The other two types are advanced fee fraud, in which a
perpetrator persuades the victim to pay a fee to acquire something of value but without ever providing
it and the non delivery of products, in which the victim pays for merchandise that never arrives
(Internet Crime Complaint Center, 2011; Ivan et al., 2012). Increasingly, information breaches happen
because of resentful or dissatisfied employees (Custer, 2010). Presently, the main risk to data s
confidentiality, availability, and integrity within a company is careless treatment or purposeful

claims about the salt and states if you want to add a pinch of pink salt to your food, go ahead, but you
probably won t reap any special health benefits. (Sifferlin,2017). Eye candy is the most this salt will

The Disadvantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Sign-On On...
Name: Mojeed Oyeniyi
Assignment
1. What is Single Sign On? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it
Single sign on (SSO) is a property of access control of multiple related, yet independent, software
systems. It is a strategy that allows users to sign on to a computer or network once and have their
identification and authorization credentials allow them into all computers and systems where they are
authorized. Hence, users do not need to enter multiple user IDs or passwords which invariably reduces
human error, which is a major part of system failures
Advantages of Single sign on
Increased efficiency and productivity It brings about efficient logon process as users only have to log
on once.
It provides failed logon attempt thresholds and lockouts which protects against an intruder using brute
force to obtain an authentic user ID and password combination.
It can provide for stronger passwords. With only one password to remember, users are generally
willing to use stronger passwords.
When businesses have various partners, implementing authentication and authorization can become
somewhat complicated. With Single sign on, businesses can centralize authentication management and
grant users instant access to all shared applications.
Disadvantages of Single sign on
A major disadvantage is that it constitutes a single point of failure. A compromised password lets an
intruder into all areas open to the password owner.
Static passwords provide very limited security. Two factor authentication or at least a one time
password is required for access by the user using SSO
Adding SSO to unique computers or legacy systems in the network might be difficult.
2. Why is Media Disposal important? What are the bad outcomes that can be done if not performed
Media Disposal is the destruction of data on electronic equipment being disposed, transferred or
reused. This includes all forms of electronic media such as hard drives, solid state and flash drives,
tapes and devices with built in storage. Media that is to be discarded must be sanitized in a manner
that makes access to previously stored data impossible. Degaussing and repeated overwriting are
common and effective methods of disposing media that are to

Essay about The Arrogance of The Lie by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
The Arrogance of The Lie
The Lie, written by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., is a story that stands as a mirror to reflect the ugly image of a
condescending faction obsessed with grades and numbers, not actual learning. Even though it took
place years ago, the sickening mind frames still exist in some of today s people. They are namely the
elite group or middle to upper class families. In the story, Doctor Remenzel is obsessed with Eli

Another flaw of Doctor Remenzel that mirrors flaws in the condescending faction is the idea that Eli
should get special treatment merely because he is of the elite or higher group. This does not show in
the story until the end. In fact, the Doctor completely contradicts himself the entire time. Sylvia
Remenzel is first to bring up the idea of giving Eli any sort of special behavior. Doctor Remenzel
harshly declines the idea. An example of this would be when Doctor Remenzel says, Let me tell you
in no uncertain terms...you are not to ask for anything special for Eli not anything. The end of the
story is when the doctor does just the opposite. Once he finds out Eli did not make it in, he thinks he
can get Eli in by talking to the Board of Overseers, who happen to be friends of his or his father s.
Doctor Remenzel believes Eli should be automatically accepted

Essay about The Mass Shooting Epidemic in America
Nine students were killed at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. A man opened fire in
a church, in Charleston, South Carolina, killing nine people, including the pastor. Twenty seven were
killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. Twelve were killed in the Washington Navy

becoming the new normal. Every few months, another mass shooting occurs and the public goes
through the same routine of mourning, honoring, and ultimately debating. What causes these manic
episodes of multiple, indiscriminate gun deaths? Some push for more gun control, others argue that

It is often discovered that the shooters (almost exclusively men) are or were lonely, depressed, or
angry. Many have or had diagnosed mental disorders such as post traumatic stress disorder, attention
deficit disorder, schizophrenia, or Asperger s syndrome. In fact, according to Rachel George of
PolicyMic, of the 24 reported mass shootings since April 2007, 15 have involved a shooter officially
diagnosed with some sort of mental illness (George). In addition to being mentally ill, shooters are
often described as suicidal people, and many shoot themselves after shooting others. It would not
appear, however, that the prevalence of mental disorders among shooters has any correlation with
suicide (as eight of the 15 diagnosed took their own lives, with four of the nine undiagnosed doing the
same, according to George). Cases in which the shooter did not commit suicide can lead to a trial. For
example, James Holmes, a shooter who killed 12 in a Colorado movie theater, plead not guilty to all
charges due to insanity. His trial will occur within the next year. With mental illness identified as a
very probable cause of these shootings, it is critical that the evidently poor and ineffective clinical help
for mental disorders be reevaluated. A theoretical explanation for the modern prevalence of mental
illness could be the increasingly optional nature of treatment: therapy is a choice, and checking into a
facility or institution is

Quote (+ page number): You interfere with all my plans (Page 39)
Explanation (4 5 sentences):
In the story The Girl Who Was Saturday Night, Nouschka decides to go to high school again after
dropping out. Nicolas, her twin brother, tells her not to go and tries to stop her. While having an

her brother are very attached to each other and they never do anything without each other. This quote

Nouschka has a part time in a book store and wants a higher education but Nicolas has a different
view as he doesn t care about school and makes money through committing crimes. By realizing that
both Nouschka and Nicolas have different views on things such as going back to school, Nouschka

Essay about Jazz Styles in America
Jazz Styles in America
Jazz music has been a part of America for many centuries. It has influenced many time periods and
ways of life in America. Tin Pan Alley was a real alley on East Fourteenth Street near Third (in New
York), but it was never just a place. Tin Pan Alley has come to be known for an era of songwriting
when many musical ideas mixed together to form American popular music. Tin Pan Alley brought
together many styles: blues, jazz, musical scores, and ragtime (Burton Lane qtd. In Tin Pan Alley ).
What are the various jazz styles? Not only has jazz affected people and time periods, but it has also
affected places. The popularity of jazz in America is attributed to the various styles, which are
indicative of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although one man may enjoy one type of music, another man could hate it. It can be frustrating to try
to persuade skeptics that musicians they do not like make real music. Many people have these feelings
toward rap and hip hop. The result of jazz fusing together with hip hop may, by association, help to
enhance the cultural significance of rap. If the people do not understand rap after this, they never will
(Farley 51). Fusion is back, although it never really went away, as the many millions of Kenny G. fans
would prove. In the 1960s, many jazz musicians found themselves marginalized by rock and soul.
Then, in 1970, Miles Davis received the first gold record of his life for Bitches Brew , a sonic eye
opener that experimented with electric instruments and rock and funk rhythms. A whole generation of
musicians was squandering its talents on an increasingly vapid, yet profitable jazz, which came to be
known as fusion. Known today as smooth jazz, fusion continued to thrive. It even has its own
Billboard chart (Handy 25). Extremely too many styles of jazz exist to name all of them. One of the
most common types of jazz is swing. Swing emerged during the early 1930s and emphasized big
bands. It spilled into the late 1940s and then remained popular in recordings, film, and television
music long after its main proponents had disbanded. Most swing

Mary Bethune The Road To Education
The Road to Education Mary Bethune once said, The drums of Africa still beat in my heart. They will
not let me rest while there is a single negro boy or girl without a chance to prove his worth. On July
10, 1875 in South Carolina an inspiration was born upon us. Out of the 17 siblings, she was the 15th.
Mary s parents were former slaves so she was raised in poverty. She was the first of her family to
attend school. Her teacher, Miss Wilson, inspired her to grow into more education. Thats where we
will begin, with her beginning road to education. Mary Bethune was a black rights activist and fought
for women s rights. In other words she stood for black freedom. Since when she was a kid she didn t
get much education yet she still believed

Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift
Society vs. Individuality In the novel Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the influence that society
has on Gulliver is very detectable in this book. Throughout the novel, Gulliver repeatedly, finds
himself in predicaments because societal norms and the role of government in our society. Swift
shows how the idea of who people are due to their position in society. Gulliver is an outsider to the
society of Lilliput, he tries to fit into their world but fails, not only because of his size but because of
their governmental treason. I believe, Swift wrote the story of Liliput to try and illustrate to us the idea
that society and government corrupts individuals. This is shown by the relationships between Gulliver
and self oriented individuals and society oriented individuals. Swift demonstrates that the government
has questionable motives, in the Acts of Conduct that Gulliver has to learn it has in it the description
of basically what the King can and cannot do. The first rule they explain is ...the obedience to the king
out of terror rather than out of respect . The King shows the fear he instills in his subjects by the
phrase, the Princes of the Earth shake their Knees (25). The King also tries to rule the heavens and the
Earth, whose Feet press down to the Center, and whose Head strikes against the sun (25). Even though
the king is within his rule, the reader will find the King s methods harsh. Swift is implying that for
men to have control over their government or

  • 2. Literal Interpretations In Greek Mythology Interpretations are explanations that result from understanding something (The Real Dictionary). There are two main types of interpretations that are used in Greek mythology. There is literal interpretation and personification interpretation. Both types of interpretations have impacts on the moral responsibility within the stories. Literal interpretation is an interpretation based on the exact wording (The Real Dictionary). Literal interpretation of the Greek Gods means taking the information provided in the scenario and taking it literal and word for word. There isn t any beating around the bush during literal interpretation. Literal interpretation has remarkable consequences when it comes to moral responsibility. Because literal interpretation interferes in one s life, it is in control of one s actions, not that person. Moral responsibility takes place when one is in control of their own actions. And when one is not in control of their own actions, moral responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The literal interpretation of that specific scenario would be that there is a goddess that literally takes Paris away from that confrontational scenario. But that is not the case. In that specific scenario, where Aphrodite interferes between a situation that involved Paris and Menelaus, that would mean that Paris is not in control of his actions, meaning he has no moral responsibility. Personification is a figure of speech where human qualities are given to animal, objects, thoughts or ideas (Literary Devices). Personification is a literary technique that draws attention to the humanistic characteristics in which make non human objects become symbols for humanistic characteristics. Personification interpretation in Greek mythology suggests that the Gods should be viewed as symbols for humanistic traits rather than actual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Homeless People in the World Homeless people in the world: what are the reasons for it and what are the methods to solve the problem. Today it is unfortunately homelessness is very wide and is spreading rapidly around the world. The causes may be quite different: it can be a high rent for housing, low pay, mental disability, loss of all family members, etc. When people are in a difficult situation, they need to survive, they have not so much alternatives, so they go out on the streets and begging for money. In different countries in different ways the government is trying to solve the problem of homeless people, but the result is still the same. What should we do? How can we help the homeless people? During the time when people started to do lots of research, about homeless people. Have they concluded that usually those who are forced to live on the street are people who: lived in poor areas, had no jobs, drugs, low education etc. Since we know what the main reasons for homelessness are and we have the information we need, it may be possible to avoid and help the people in the beginning before they become homeless. What I think is that the government must reverse itself more to the people who really need help in the poor area. And I mean now help them really both material and moral. Fascism promised national unity and condemned the Socialist party. To understand how Fascism became powerful within Italy, it is imperative to acknowledge the driving force behind this regime. To put it bluntly, violence played an essential role in the development of the Fascist party. Mussolini s practice of fierceness was able to create a formidable system of government that did not tolerate weakness. Where, his government will appreciate the common people, the Socialist party has done nothing but abandoned them. The socialist party does not care about taking responsibility of their citizens: those who have returned from war, those who work many hours without sufficient pay or insurance. Mussolini wanted to get the people on his side and to illustrate for them a world of economic democracy. Furthermore, to answer the main question, violence was always Mussolini s goal but in order for that to happen Mussolini had to make sure he had the people s trust. With that trust, he was able to manipulate individuals. Actually, some of the workers joined the Fascist squad and became just as violent as the soldiers were. During the Afternoon s speech Mussolini also states, But let us not dwell on the details. • 10. How The Roman Catholic Church s Stance On Peaceful... Conversion in Medieval Iberia can invoke ambivalent feelings. Christians originally wanted to convert Jews and Muslims through kind words and religious teachings from the Bible. This idea, nevertheless, evolved over the centuries and Christians began converting non believers through violence and compulsion. Also, even after individuals were converted, Christians did not fully trust their motivations, and believed they would remiss into their old religions. While Marian miracles did help alleviate these tensions, a number of vicious acts were committed against Jews and Muslims during this time period. In this essay, I am going to examine the idea of conversion from the Christian perspective, and how Christians were able to tempt Jews and Muslims to convert. I am also going to compare the contradictory nature of converting through peaceful and violent means. This comparison will showcase how the Roman Catholic Church s stance on peaceful conversion was overcome by local Christian communities. Conversion is the act of changing one s religion to another religion. During the twelfth to fifteenth century in Medieval Iberia, a number of Jews and Muslims converted to Christianity. To Christians, conversions represented the elimination of dangerous enemies and the ongoing triumph of the new Israel. • 18. Jan Aart Scholte Chapter 4 Explaining Globalization Scholte briefly examines six differing theoretical approaches to explaining globalization what are they? What is the central theme of each? Liberalisms Liberalist position globalization is, at the most elementary level, a result of natural human desires for economic welfare and political liberty. As such, increased transplanetary connectivity is ultimately derived from human drives to maximize material well being (through markets) and to exercise basic freedoms (as guaranteed by publicly accountable government). For liberalists globalization is an outcome of people s strivings to escape poverty as well as to achieve civil and political rights. On a liberalist account it is inherent in market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these cases, transplanetary connectivity is said to have arisen because of the way that people have mentally constructed the social world with symbols, language, interpretation, and so on. From ideational perspectives, globalization has resulted from particular forms and dynamics of consciousness. For methodological idealists, patterns of production and governance are second order structures that derive from deeper cultural and socio psychological forces. Such accounts of globalization have come especially from the fields of Anthropology, Humanities, Media Studies, and Sociology, although idealist arguments have also influenced some researchers in Geography, Politics and even Business Studies. One type of ideational explanation is constructivism, an approach that has been popular particularly since the 1990s among International Studies scholars in North America and Western Europe who wish to develop an alternative perspective to liberalism and political realism. As the theory s name suggests, constructivism concentrates on the ways that social actors construct their world: both within their own minds and through inter subjective communication with others. His parents provided nursing services at school until he entered fifth grade. They then requested that the school district to provide the services. The school district declined. The parents filed a suit against the school district. In the end, the court agreed with the parents. It was granted that nursing services were not related services, instead excluded medical services. Meaning that the student needed these services to attend school. This case would help Jonathan s parents to prove that Mrs. Youngs refusal of Jonathan was not right. What are the advantages and disadvantages of it Single sign on (SSO) is a property of access control of multiple related, yet independent, software systems. It is a strategy that allows users to sign on to a computer or network once and have their identification and authorization credentials allow them into all computers and systems where they are authorized. Hence, users do not need to enter multiple user IDs or passwords which invariably reduces human error, which is a major part of system failures Advantages of Single sign on Increased efficiency and productivity It brings about efficient logon process as users only have to log on once. It provides failed logon attempt thresholds and lockouts which protects against an intruder using brute force to obtain an authentic user ID and password combination. It can provide for stronger passwords. With only one password to remember, users are generally willing to use stronger passwords. When businesses have various partners, implementing authentication and authorization can become somewhat complicated. With Single sign on, businesses can centralize authentication management and grant users instant access to all shared applications. Disadvantages of Single sign on A major disadvantage is that it constitutes a single point of failure. A compromised password lets an intruder into all areas open to the password owner. Static passwords provide very limited security. Two factor authentication or at least a one time password is required for access by the user using SSO Adding SSO to unique computers or legacy systems in the network might be difficult. 2. Why is Media Disposal important? What are the bad outcomes that can be done if not performed Media Disposal is the destruction of data on electronic equipment being disposed, transferred or reused. This includes all forms of electronic media such as hard drives, solid state and flash drives, tapes and devices with built in storage. Media that is to be discarded must be sanitized in a manner that makes access to previously stored data impossible. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is often discovered that the shooters (almost exclusively men) are or were lonely, depressed, or angry. Many have or had diagnosed mental disorders such as post traumatic stress disorder, attention deficit disorder, schizophrenia, or Asperger s syndrome. In fact, according to Rachel George of PolicyMic, of the 24 reported mass shootings since April 2007, 15 have involved a shooter officially diagnosed with some sort of mental illness (George). In addition to being mentally ill, shooters are often described as suicidal people, and many shoot themselves after shooting others. It would not appear, however, that the prevalence of mental disorders among shooters has any correlation with suicide (as eight of the 15 diagnosed took their own lives, with four of the nine undiagnosed doing the same, according to George). Cases in which the shooter did not commit suicide can lead to a trial. For example, James Holmes, a shooter who killed 12 in a Colorado movie theater, plead not guilty to all charges due to insanity. His trial will occur within the next year. With mental illness identified as a very probable cause of these shootings, it is critical that the evidently poor and ineffective clinical help for mental disorders be reevaluated. A theoretical explanation for the modern prevalence of mental illness could be the increasingly optional nature of treatment: therapy is a choice, and checking into a facility or institution is ...
