Cost Allocation And Cost Management
Cost Allocation Almost every single company that is in business faces a serious problem called
cost allocation. Every company no matter what they sell or what service they provide faces the
problem of allocating costs to defined cost objects. The cost allocation process is a very hard
process for most. Costallocation is a very complex and difficult procedure that requires the
application of appropriate accounting procedures. These accounting methods sometimes will not
provide objective and fair cost allocation because they have irrational bases that are not always
reliable or appropriate. This is why accounting theory and practice steadily try to advance upon
methods that are already in place and help develop new ones that could provide objective and fair
cost allocation (Perčević Dražić, 2008). Cost allocation is a very crucial procedure for many
companies not just production companies, but also in companies that provide service. Cost
allocation has one purpose and that is to enable the determination of the cost of a product per unit
in production companies and the cost of a provided service in service companies. Therefore,
methods for cost allocation directly affect the service or product profitability assessment and at the
same time sway segment and companyprofitability. The main problem is the choice of the cost
allocation accounting approach. There are certain methods for cost allocation that do not apply the
same to every company. If the method for

George Washington s Influence On American History
Historyi is defined as the study of past events, particularly in human affairs. With each passing
day, history is being made and added on. Sites such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island has
an important significance within American history. While these sites are well known to a majority
of the U.S. population, many other sites are overlooked. These are sites that we pass every day
without even realizing its significance within American history. The Morris Jumel Mansion or
Mount Morris is a historical site that fits this description, it is located on 65 Jumel Terrace at 160th

This was mainly due to the colonies refusal to live and obey British rule. The colonists sole
purpose for immigrated to America was escape the British rule. Although the American Revolution
began in 1775, there were various events that lead to the war s conception. Some these events
were the Stamp Act which required printed materials such a newspapers to be printed on British
produced paper. The Townshend acts which were a series of acts passed by Great Britain that taxed
the colonies. The Boston Massacre which resulted in 5 colonists being killed after an angry
confrontation with British soldiers. The Boston Tea Party which was where the colonists dressed
up as American Indian and dumped British produced tea into the harbor. This was in response to the
Tea act that monopolized the tea trade within America. All these events helped to spark America s

Nihilism Essay
Nihilism as a philosophical idea was portrayed in Albert Camus The Fall, which our philosophy
class read earlier in the semester, the main character we will call the judge penitent. Essentially this
idea centered on humanity possessing self interest and in return for this possession morality is
dubbed non existent. A philosopher who rejected this idea was Aristotle, known for being Plato s
student, and his focus was on the universe. These two ideas clashed when it came to the meaning of
happinessalong with other views which shall be discussed in this essay, mostly focusing on
Aristotle s beliefs and how they reject the views of the judge penitent. These views will include
how to define happiness, what is the core of human nature, and ethics... Show more content on

He also believes self interest is governed by seeking to fulfill certain bodily pleasures, such as
power over others, having this will lead to our happiness (Camus, 1956). Aristotle on the other hand
believes that human nature is focused on reaching an ultimate goal which he calls Eudaimonia
meaning happiness, also called the telos. Reaching this happiness depends solely on the goals of
the individual and is a process that never seems to end. Once reached maintaining happiness is a
constant struggle since Aristotle believes this feeling is temporary, however it strives us to be
better than our past selves. The key to happiness according to Aristotle is the use of reasoning in
the right way. Obviously Aristotle s views on happiness seems to be what modern society would
agree with, however what about the ethics of mankind and our moral virtues. To clearly see the
viewpoints of Aristotle and judge penitent let s examine a situation that happens on occasion in
our daily lives. You are walking to a destination and see two individuals of equal status arguing,
but it escalates to a fist fight. What would be your next move? The judge penitent would argue to
just walk away and not bother in the matter, since it could result in you being injured and you must
look out for your own

We Need New Names Essay
People generally strive to better themselves, their methods being that if they can keep improving
themselves, they will eventually become better people. They can become more compassionate,
more intelligent, more trustworthy, etc. NoViolet Bulawayo, author of We Need New Names, has
incorporated this into her book. The main character, Darling, improves herself throughout the book
and is able to become a betterperson. However, she is not able to do this alone. With the help of
her friends, family and colleagues, she gradually improves herself, attaining more knowledge,
skills, and experience. The book starts by describing her life in Africafrom her perspective. She
lives in Zimbabwe, in a small, poor village called Paradise. She and her small group of friends run
wild, playing games, having adventures, and learning about the world. However, when politics start
heating up, it becomes dangerous to stay in Zimbabwe, and she moves to Detroit, where she stays
with her Aunt Fostalina. An old, African man who lives in a retirement... Show more content on

Ijn Paradise, Darling s group of friends all support each other. The main way they do this is when
they play games together. Throughout the book, they play games such as country game and find
Bin Laden. These games bring the group together with a sense of competition and friendship.
Furthermore, they allow the kids to have stronger friendships with each other and it means they
have people that they can rely on for support. Just being with each other, they are stronger people.
The children rely on each other for companionship, and because of this, it makes them happier,
more sociable people. Living in Paradise is already hard enough for Darling, but living there alone
would be impossible. The children make the most out of it, and play games with all the spare time
that they should be spending in school. Because of this, they are better

Money Plays An Important Factor
Money plays an important factor in schools decisions for cutting or reducing fine arts. Cutting
fine arts saves money that could be used on academically stimulating programs and bettering
Core subject areas. An Arizona newspaper reported that a school district was able to save one
and a half million dollars when they completely cut their fine arts program (Faller). Fine arts takes
up a large portion of schools budgets, and schools who cut it in its entirety would be able to save
that money and set it aside for academic programs with more measurable results. Alternatively,
schools also reduce their fine arts programs and make it more of an extracurricular activity. This
continues the schools involvement and sponsorship for the arts, but... Show more content on

Educators, administrators, and the public might also argue to increase fine arts funding, but only to
the schools who are struggling to meet Core standards, as well as other educational requirements.
In school facilities where there are large demographics of Hispanics and African Americans,
students are less likely to have the opportunity to take art classes (Holcomb). Since these students
won t receive as equal of an education as their peers, then something needs to intervene and
equalize their opportunities with those who have access to these programs. Historically speaking,
schools with high concentrations of minorities have generally had limited access to fine arts
classes (Holcomb). This has been an ongoing problem, and an increase of funding to these schools
may be the solution to the problem. According to a study in Social Science Quarterly ,
socioeconomic and ethnicity are factors in music participation in children; whites and Asians from
higher socioeconomic backgrounds are more likely to play an instrument than African Americans or
Hispanics (Holcomb). Increasing the funding for struggling schools may seem like one of the best
solutions, but what happens to the schools with established and succeeding arts programs? Do they
receive an increase of funding too? Chances are no, because these schools will statistically have
higher standardized test scores than the struggling schools.

Omelas Ethics
Omelas is a city that is free of most of the troubles modern day cities face, such as pollution. This
city is anything one could want it to be, as laid out by Le Guin. Omelas is an amazing place,
where people can live freely and without worry, but they must live with the dark side of the city.
Ethics plays a big role in The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas because the citizens must be
cruel to this child, who is locked away from everything, for Omelas to be a prosperous city.
The citizens of Omelas choose to treat the child in an inhumane way so the city can thrive. Le
Guin writes They may brood over it for weeks or years. But as time goes on they begin to realize
that even if the child could be released it would not get much good of freedom: ... Show more

Those who disapprove of the child s captivity would disappear At times one of the adolescent
girls or boy who go to see the child does not go home... Sometimes also a man or women much
older falls silent... and walk straight out of the city of Omelas, through the beautiful gates...they
leave Omelas, they walk ahead into the darkness, and they do not come back (739). These people
realize that they no longer want to live in a place where it is acceptable to imprison a child, and
treat him very cruelly, without much concern towards the child. Leaving the city is important
because Omelas is seen as a city in a fairy tale (736). Fairy tales are usually a fantasy about a
world where everything ends happily ever after with dreams coming true. The citizens of Omelas
learn that they, like the child, are not free (739). The realization that they are trapped may be the
reason that so many of the citizens are no longer upset about the treatment of the child. All that is
known about those that leave is that The place they go towards is even less imaginable to most of
us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. It is possible that it does not exist (739).
Citizens leaving Omelas is normal and helps to keep the city prosperous, because with them they
take their disapproval of the child s

The Effects Of Testing On Human Trials On The University...
Articles often manipulate scientific inquiries to appeal to their audiences. Due to these
exploitations in scientific research papers, media sites interpret data incorrectly, and distort the
results of scientific research. Although many media sites, give faulty information, The Huffington
Post does a fair job at interpreting the University of Buffalo s Research Institutes work on
endocannabinoids and their effect on cognitive behavior. Neuroscientists from the University of
Buffalo s Research Institute on Addictions found that endocannabinoids, chemical compounds in
the brain that activate the same receptors as THC, an active compound in marijuana, may be

The body naturally produces these compounds, which are similar to the chemicals in cannabis.
Reduction of endocannabinoid production is one reason why chronic stress is a major risk factor
in the development of depression. The research team at the university administered marijuana
cannabinoids to the rats, finding it to be an effective way to restore endocannabinoid levels in their
brains, alleviating some symptoms of depression. In addition, the university that found synthetic
cannabinoids activated the part of the brain associated with traumatic memories in rats,
preventing the behavioral and physiological symptoms of PTSD. The article notes that
depression is such a complex mental disorder as well as alleviating it with cannabis. Because of
the lack of testing on the relationship between cannabis and depression, there is no 100%
statement claiming that marijuana can help depression in human trials, although there are
promising lab tests on rats. The article clearly conveyed the testing, but was written according to
an audience able to read at a fifth grade level, this is clearly visible because of the vocabulary as
well as the sentence structure within the article. This is due to the fact that many Americans do not
have the potential to read academic papers or research papers because lack of any higher education

The Renaissance And Italian Renaissance
The Renaissance (rebirth), was a time in which all art became more personalized and represented
more than we see. There were two major stages in the Western European/ Italian Renaissance:
Early Renaissance and High Renaissance. It gave patrons a new outlook on art and the world.
Styles such as Mannerism, Fresco, and Parietal help advance art in western Europe. Most of the
Renaissanceworks were religious,or had had something to do with the ancient times (ancient greece
and roman culture). Not only was is a re birth of art, it was a re birth of scientific thinking and
studying architecture. Although there are two major sections to the Renaissance, there are very

Mannerism was huge in Italy. One of the greatest pieces created in this style was Leonardo s
Mona Lisa . Leonardo uses mysterious elements for the background, it recalls one of his other
lesser known paintings named Madonna of the Rocks . The reason this piece is so fascinating is
because Leonardo finished very few of his works. He did, however have a notebook of
Renaissance Drawings . Since Leonardo was an architect as well as an artist, this led him to
create some of the greatest technology man has ever known. They also resembled his ideas of
what the Renaissance meant to him and the ideas he gained from this re birth. Some of
Leonardo s tactics are still used today. Take cutaways for example. This style of imagery was
used long before the age of X Rays. Leonardo was not the only one with Renaissance Drawings. It
was common for a lot of Renaissance artists to have notebooks full of drawings. Artists usually
used silverpoint stylus when drawing in their notebook. For other works, artists used different
materials (ink pen, chalk, charcoal, brush, graphite/lead). This has lead me to believe that artists
used different materials to create different moods, and to give each piece a different meaning.
Another big name in the Renaissance was Raphael (Raffaello Santi). It is said that Raphael mostly
likely learned his tactics and roots of Renaissance art from his father, Giovanni Santi.

Baroque and Classical Wordpainting Techniques
Renaissance and Baroque composers were faced with the task of creating complex pieces that
express both human emotion and ideas. While this is primarily one of the main purposes of all
forms of music itself, including genres today, in the 15th through 18th centuries, this was largely
done through the musical composition of a piece rather than the lyrics. Composers utilized several
different techniques in order to portray to the listener the purpose and meaning of the piece.
Renaissance composers were focused on furthering the texts in music, fully developing the lyrics
Therefore, the use of word painting, the musical representation of a literal word, phrase, or poetic
image, is clearly seen in many pieces. Baroque music, with the... Show more content on

In the piece Tu Se Morta this idea can be heard from the very first notes. After being told of
Eurydice s death, Orpheus declares his emotions in Tu Se Morta. The piece begins an organ and
a bass lute, the lute representing Orpheus harp, which speak to the song s dark tones. The singer
s vocal lines are also fairly free, they have no set beat, meter, or phrase pattern. This, therefore,
creates the sense of a monologue or soliloquy, an actor s expression of inner emotion.
Monteverdi, like other Baroque composers, frequently used word painting. The opening words,
You are dead, repeated and culminating in You have left me forevermore, never to return, and I
remain, are song in a stretched out, long and slow fashion, but as the verse continues, intensity
and volume is increased to result in basically an outburst by the words, ed io rimango, or and I
remain. The free beat and meter of the vocals allows for the singer to illustrate the emotion of the
text through the speed in which the words are sung and the intensity of each word. More
traditional word painting is used in the sense that there is a low tone on abissi or abysses in order
to depict the deepness and descending nature of the underworld. Another strategic low note is
placed on morte to symbolize death and depression. Very high tones are used on the words stelle
and sole

Abstract
Resistance to change is always an obstacle for organisation when they try to implementing change.
But what is resistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore one could argue that resistance to change is not a response or action that aims directly at
change but rather a failure of building a relationship between the management team and the team
members of the organisation. Thus it is the management team responsible as well for the arising of
resistance to change as it is an active participation of the process.
A change is the process of changing the old way or usual way of doing thing and implements a new
way or different path of doing thing and thus change could create fear of the unknown for the
participants (Mintzberg Waters, 1985)6. In order to make change happen, it is important for both
parties, the change recipient and change agent to actively seeking information, feedback, goal and
objective of change. The key word here would be Communication . By being honest to the recipient,
letting them known of the expectation from the change and the beneficial likeliness that change
would bring to personal gain and to the organisation, this would encourage the participant to adopt
change process (Kim Rousseau, 2006)7.
Is cultural difference a source of resistance to change?
Researchers have proved that there is a strong correlation between change success rate and cultural
values/ belief (Kotter, 19958; Schein, 19929). The concept of organisational change is very closely
linked with the culture context (Schein, 1992)10. Even though there is no hard evidence

Essay about Mexico City
Mexico City
Like an enormous living museum, Mexico City provides an extraordinary showplace for the
thousands of years of human cultural achievement that Mexico has attained. It ranks as one of the
world s great capitals and is a must for anyone craving to understand Mexico s complex past, its fast
paced present, and its ever challenging future. The size and grandeur of the city are staggering. It is
not only the oldest continuously inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere, but, by some accounts,
has also become the largest city in the world. Before we look at present day Mexico City, let us look

Many buildings and streets were constructed, and it served as cultural and social center of North
and South America. When 1810 came, however, a Mexican Independence movement, started by
Miguel Hidalgo, caused Mexican peasants to fight against the Spanish government. After 11 years,
the fight was successful, and Mexico declared its independence.
Mexico City was the center of many more conflicts in Mexican history. In 1847, the city was
captured by U.S. forces under Winfield Scott to end the Mexican American War. The price for
Mexico was the loss of the land that is now most of the southern U.S. In 1863, the city was
captured again, but this time by French forces, upset that Mexico refused to pay its debt to France
on time. The French controlled the city for a year until Mexican forces retook it in 1864.
Over the next 30 years, Mexico City really began to thrive. Under Porfirio Diaz, more roads and
telegraph lines were constructed. Rail lines into the U.S. and other provinces of Mexico were built,
and foreign investment greatly increased, as well. In 1910, Mexico City had grown to a population
of 471,000. The following 10 years saw all of Mexico in a state of disarray as a revolution was
taking place.

Religion in Latin America; the Age of Discovery and...
Religion played a big role in shaping the values, attitudes, and conduct of the Spanish during the
Age of Discovery and Conquest (1492 1579). The colonial church provided control and a standard
of conduct and living for the new world. In fact, the colonial church had even more power in
Spanish America then it did in Spain. Why this is important though, is because it limited the
possibility of rebellion and opposition. As long as the church was in place, there was Spanish
order, and as long as there was Spanish order, the colonization process could continue to run
smoothly and prosper. Nurtured by the crown, the colonial church thrived. Its main priorities were

The conversion process did not go on without a hitch though, throughout the new world
missionaries had many obstacles to overcome. The first problem they ran into was the vast
number of native languages they encountered. Another is the scattered geographical locations of
many tribes, because there wasn t an easy pattern to follow, Christianity and conversion could
not spread as rapidly as they would ve liked it to. A third way in which the conversion was more
difficult than intended, was when they came across native religions that shared some of the same
beliefs, although it helped that some basic ideologies were already in place, it was much harder
for Christianity to be seen as new and unique. Unlike the original settlers, evangelicals who
traveled to convert did not show the same respect for the indigenous g ds; the Christian g d was to
stand alone. The native religions were destructed very systematically; natives who practiced their
religions instead of converting were also prosecuted, and many times by the priests themselves. In
these areas of evangelical settlers who would conquest throughout Latin America, laws were even
put in place to ensure the practicing of Christianity. As declared by Prudence, the law dictated that
Natives, whatever their private beliefs, publicly comply with their conqueror s religion (Burkholder
Johnson 109). So much for separation of church and state in the Age of Discovery and Conquest,

Eisenhower elucidates a chance for a cease of hostilities between the United States and the Soviet

The Effect Of Osmosis On O Shelled Chicken Eggs On...
Abstract: The purpose to this experiment was to study the effect of osmosis in de shelled chicken
eggs in different percentages of sucrose solutions. Osmosis is the process, in which, water moves
across a differentially permeable membrane. The eggs were soaked in vinegar to remove the
outside hard shell but still leave the egg in its membrane. By placing the six de shelled in different
sucrose solutions, we tested the rate of osmosis. The eggs were placed in the solutions for an hour
and weighed in fifteen minute intervals. Then, each weight was recorded and graphed. The results
showed that the egg in the water solutiongained the most weigh and the only other egg that gained a
little weight was the one in the 10% solution. All the other eggs in the different solutions lost
weight, even the unknown solution. According to the results the egg that was in the distilled water
solution gained weight because it is the hypertonic solution. All the other eggs lost weight because
they were placed in hypotonic solutions with different concentrations of sucrose. The egg that was
placed in the higher concentrationof sucrose lost the most weight. So, the higher the concentration
of sucrose, the more water the egg lost.

Essay on The Fall of the Second Temple
Throughout the history of Judaism, Jewish people have faced ongoing persecution and
discrimination. Despite these conflicts, the faith remains alive, strong, and continuously growing.
Like many religions faced with adversity, Judaism has had to assimilate its faith to survive in an
ever changing world. One significant moment of change in the Jewish history, the fall of the
Second Temple, had the opportunity to destroy Judaism, but the Jewish people bonded together and
reformulated their religion in order to save their faith. The falling of the Second Temple marks a
distinct change in the Jewish faith through the modification of ritual practices to accommodate their
new mobile lifestyle. This change would forever impact the Jewish... Show more content on

Once a faith centered on priesthood, sacrificial rituals, communal gatherings and oral traditions,
the people of the Jewish religion decided to restructure the faith around written scripture.
Although it is argued that rabbis began work on compiling the oral histories prior to the fall of
the Second Temple, there was a marked resurgence in documentation of the important history and
moral laws of Judaism after the fall (Molloy, 291). The Jewish people felt a sense of urgency to
finish the written works. They believed the incorporation of written word into Judaism would help
to solidify their place in the religious world, as well as make the faith easier to correctly interpret
among their own vastly dispersed people (BBC, 2009).
The most important of these written documents is the Hebrew Bible. This bible is composed of the
Torah, Nevi im and Ketuvim, and these three components combine to make up the Tanakh
(Simmons, 83). The Torah is the core of the Hebrew Bible and contains the story of creation, as
well as directions on daily conduct and religious rituals. The Nevi im contains the stories of
prophets. The prophets were people who spoke on behalf of God to the Jewish people. Lastly, the
Ketuvim is composed of mostly imaginative literature such as psalms, proverbs and poetry (Molloy,
294). Shifting the focal point from

Heian Japan Culture Analysis
First, however, understanding the socio political climate of Heian Japan is important, particularly
in how it pertains to the women of the noble class. The Japanese first began to develop a
personalized identity, separate from China soon after the Capital was moved from Nara to Heian

customs and cultural nuances in all aspects of their life. They traveled back and forth from the
island to the continent, wore Chinese styled clothing, Buddhism was followed, Tendai and Shingon

20th Century Philosophy
This week s paper we were to research and identify three prevailing philosophical perspectives at
work during the 20th Century. To begin I will research the history of a few new tendencies in
contemporary philosophy. Then I will discuss the Tom Rockmore interpretation of such tendencies.
Tom Rockmore is Professor of Philosophyand a McAnulty College Distinguished Professor, Dr.
Rockmore s current research interests encompass all of modern philosophy, with special emphasis
on selected problems as well as figures in German idealism (Kant, Fichte, Hegel, Marx) and recent
continental philosophy (Heidegger, Habermas, Lukacs). He is continuing to explore the
epistemology of German idealism as well as the relation between philosophy and... Show more

The most practical of analytical philosophy also included Moore, and Carnape. The American
(neo) pragmatism philosophy is a philosophical movement that was given systematic terms by
Charles Sanders Peirce and William James and later taken up and revamped by John Dewey.
Pragmatists stress the practical purpose of knowledge as a way for acclimatizing to reality and
controlling it. Pragmatism concur with empiricism in its emphasis on the importance of experience
over a priori reasoning. However the truth had customarily been discussed in terms of
communication with reality or in terms of coherence pragmatism embraces that truth is to be
sought in the process of verification. Pragmatists translates ideas as means and plans of action
rather than as images of reality; more specifically, they are recommendations and anticipations of
possible conduct, hypotheses or forecasts of what will result from a given action, or ways of
organizing behavior(Answer,2010)
Between the continental and the analytic philosophy, being the two most significant tendencies,
barely any debate was taking place; this was due to the lack of knowledge, contempt, and mutual
lack of attention. In spite of this, the situation is changing slowly: especially American philosophers
like Taylor, Nagel, Rorty and others converse subjects in which until recently only

`` Blame Photo Thieves, Not The Female Victim, By...
Strong Response Draft The web is filled with online trolls who would sell what shreds of dignity
they have left for an Angela Lansbury nude. Equally, the average internet user has come to despise
the delinquents who harm in the form of internet torture. And while he or she could be blamed for
being reckless, it is uncommon to guilt the average internet user for being hacked. The fault lies
with the malicious hacker. In recent months, many celebrities have had private photos of
themselves hacked and posted on the internet for the world to see. While a blatant invasion of
privacy, it is also a sacrilegious towards the celebrity s body and their rights to consent.
In Blame Photo Thieves, Not the Female Victim, columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. expresses his
perspective that while it is biologically natural for heterosexual men, regardless of occupation or
personal beliefs, to find scantily clad women attractive, it should be a woman s choice of whether to
pose naked for the public or not. Pitts believes that a violation occurs when women are denied that
choice and have personal nudes leaked over the internet, such as in recent cases involving Jenifer
Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsen Dunst, and other high profile celebrities. Pitts claims that blaming
the females for taking the photographs or placing them on an unreliable cloud would be similar to
blaming the rape victim and the fault therefore lies with the perpetrator. Here, Pitt s comments on

Involvement of Canonical Insulin
To look at the involvement of canonical insulin/PI3K/Akt pathway in adipocytes leptin secretion
the study measured it using insulin resistant DIO mice with HFD and CD fed mice, with the
HFD mice gaining higher body and fat mass. Cell lysate of both HFD and CD fed mice were
subjected to western blotting and it was observed that phospho Akt level in adipocytes from HFD
fed mice was lower than the CD fed mice after insulinstimulation, showing insulin resistancein the
HFD fed mice. Also, the fasting leptinlevel of HFD fed mice is ten times higher than the CD fed
mice. Refeeding, resulted in no significant increase in plasma leptin levels in HFD fed mice
after two hours, whereas with the CD fed mice there was a significant increase in plasma leptin
levels. This implies that leptin production and/or secretion after refeeding is impaired in HFD
fed mice. To verify that there is a decrease in systematic leptin level, the researchers isolated
primary adipocytes from HFD and CD fed mice and then determined ISLS in ex vivo. The result
was that ISLS was significantly lower in primary adipocytes from HFD fed mice. This supports the
hypothesis that impaired ISLS in HFD fed mice in vivo and ex vivo was dependent on PI3K/Akt
activation. Furthermore, there is an essential role of PI3K/Akt in regulating ISLS in primary
adipocytes as seen when blocking PI3K activity with wortmannin. This significantly inhibits ISLS
without affecting basal leptin secretion. Also, AKT 1/2 inhibitor Akti

Estella Havisham: Most readers are appalled at the cold hearted and cruel ways of Estella, but
any criticism directed at her is largely undeserved. She was simply raised in a controlled
environment where she was, in essence, brainwashed by Miss Havisham. Nonetheless, her
demeanor might lead one to suspect that she was a girl with a heart of ice. Estella is scornful
from the moment she is introduced, when she remarks on Pip s coarse hands and thick boots.
However, her beauty soon captivates Pip and she is instilled as the focal point of his thoughts for
much of the remainder of the novel. The fact that Pip becomes infatuated with her is also not

The entire story is told through the eyes of an adult Pip, even though Pip is a small child during
parts of it. In his early years, Pip was strongly influenced by his guardians, Joe Gargery and his
wife, Mrs. Joe. Joe instills a sense of honesty, industry, and friendliness in Pip, while Mrs. Joe
does a great deal to contribute to his desires and ambitions through her constant emphasis on
pomp and property. Pip is generally good natured and thoughtful, and very imaginative. His false
values, which are bolstered by his love of Estella, decrease the amount of respect that he has for
Joe. His alienation from Joe and Joe s values builds through the second part of the novel, as Pip
becomes selfish, greedy, and foolish. During the period when his expectations are intact, his only
morally positive act was to secretly help Herbert Pocket into a good position. Upon discovering
that Magwitch is his benefactor, a new phase begins in Pip s moral evolution. At first, Pip no
longer feels the same human compassion for Magwitch that he did the first time he saw him out on
the marshes. Gradually, Pip changes his perception of Magwitch, unlearning what he has learned.
Pip becomes concerned with the man, and not the expectations that he could provide. When Jaggers

Forms of graphene
Graphene can exist in many forms such as bilayers, nanostripes, graphite oxides, ligand complex,

that tightly packed together which form a two dimensional honeycomb lattices. The thin layer
honeycomb shaped graphene can be wrapped up or rolled up into 1D nanotubes or stacked into
3D graphite. ( Geim Novoselov 2012).A different form of graphene has various type of function.
For example, graphene bilayers were applied widely in manufacturing zero gap semiconductor.

point and instability of the structure ( Geim Novoselov 2012). Yan et al. (2011) also demonstrated

Very few empires throughout history have rivaled the resplendence and sheer size of the Roman

soldiers primarily used their weapons for stabbing at stomach height, but could inflict grisly

Analysis Of The Book Young Goodman Brown And The...
Nathaniel Hawthorne and Washington Irving are two of the most prolific and successful writers
of their era. Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown is a story about a man, Goodman Brown
who happens to set out on a trip for an evil purpose. On the way he meets a man who offers him
his staff, saying that it might help him walk faster, but Goodman Brown refuses and wishes to
return back to his village for the sake of his wife, Faith. On the other hand, Irving s, The Devil
and Tom Walker is about an individual who lets his greed and selfishness take charge of him.
Tom Walker, a greedy man, attempts to make a deal with a devil. Tom seeks wealth and in return
the devil asks for his soul. In both stories, the authors express their feelings and views about staying
away from indulgence and sin. In spite of all the difference among Hawthorne s, Young Goodman
Brownand Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker, they share salient similarities such as setting,
symbolism, and author s purpose.
To begin with, Hawthorne and Irving portray a similar use of setting in their works of literature.
Both authors illustrate a gloomy setting which takes place in remote areas of Massachusetts
around the same period of time. For instance, The Devil and Tom Walker takes place in a
historical area settled by Quakers and Puritans where religion and virtue is widespread among the
people. However, much of the setting of the narrative takes place in a deep inlet winding several
miles into the Charles Bay,

The cost of playing in hockey at the elite level is simply just too expensive for a typical middle

Summary Of I Am A Black Woman
The Legacy of a Black Poet
A rhyme scheme. An antidote. Poems are often viewed as simple things to read. People do not
notice realize how perplex they can be. Poetry has its own way of telling a story. In only a few
lines, one s entire life can be explained. However, only some poets know how to connect to their
audience on a different level. It takes a specific type of person to create vivid pieces of literature.
Usually authors who thrive on writing have gone through experiences that made them full of
wisdom. The way one writes reflects back on who he/she is as a person. As a result of growing up
in a traditional black family, Mari Evans incorporates her values about being an African American
in her poem, I Am A Black Woman.
Initially, Mari Evan s childhood was like that of several African American children in her time.
She was born into a traditional black family located in Toledo, Ohio on July 16, 1923. At a
young age, she was taught to take care of her elders and how to be polite. She had a normal life
until her mother passed away when she was only 10 years old. However, her father became one
of her closest family members. He showed her continuous support in her career interests and was
always there for her. Correspondingly, Evans was determined to become a fashion designer in her
early years. To receive a degree in this major she attended the University of Toledo. However, her
interest in fashion design faded and she never earned a degree. It was not until

Joseph Eisold Mrs. Dorman English 3rd 7 March 2017 Research paper There has been a point in
everybody s life where they want to get back at someone for something they have done. In A
Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens there are many forms of revenge, but they cannot be
justified. Some specific points of revenge is the murder of Foulon, the plot against Lucie and
little Lucie, and the plot against the Evermonde family for the murder of Madame Defarge s
siblings. First, we need to find out the true meaning of revenge and how or if it can be justified.
Then we need to find out how it is justified in the book. First, the true meaning of revenge and how
it can be justified. The true meaning of revenge is punishment based on a... Show more content on

He would have people killed for rebellious things that they had done. He even killed people
because they believed in somethings that he didn t approve. When they were killed, he would
hang them from the light poles so that the people could see what he would do. So, when they
killed him they stuffed his mouth with grass and hung him for the light pole just like he did to
the loved ones of many people. Defarge arrives bearing news of the capture of Foulon, a wealthy
man who once declared that if people were starving they should eat grass (Dickens 295). Even
though he did kill all the people whether it was a direct death or it was by an action he didn t
deserve to die because of revenge. He should have been put in jail or he should have been hung.
That would have been the proper way to get revenge. Third, the plot against Lucie and Little
Lucie. There was a plot against Lucie and little Lucie because they were aristocrats. The plot
against them was because Lucie was the daughter of Doctor Manette who then married Charles
Darnay and the had a girl named Little Lucie. The plot against them is significant because
Charles is put on trial for being an emigrant aristocrat, but is quickly taken out of jail because of
Lucie s father being Doctor Manette. This is frowned apon by many people during this time and
it is a reason why people would want to get revenge because he had a big secret kept from

Ancient Greek History And The History Of Ancient Greece
Ancient Greece
The ancient Greeks were unique and had a one of a kind culture which would heavily influence the
Western world. Their literature would bring forth works that intertwined religious, philosophical,
mythological, and political attributes all in one. From the Bronze Age to the Dark Age, the ancient
Greeks would be innovators for practices we have become accustomed to, such as philosophy,
democracy, literature and theatricals. During this time, most that had been illuminated had been
lost in the Dark Ages, yet thanks to Homer, a Greek writer, some of Greeks lost age was recorded
and survived centuries to come. (Damrosch 186) Little is known about the beginning of Greek
civilization; however, Ancient Greececan be traced back to earlier cultures of the Minoans and
Myceneans. (Betts) The Minoans thrived on the island of Crete around 2000 BC. They developed
a writing system called Linear A, which the Myceneans would later adapt to develop the Linear B
writing system. (Mark) According to geological evidence, it is thought that the Minoan civilization
fell due to overuse of land, yet conventionally, history acknowledges that the Myceneans conquered
the Minoans. (Mark) The Myceneans prospered as well and were greatly influenced by the Minoan
civilization, especially establishing the same religious rites and what would later be known as the
pantheon of Ancient Greece. Although archeological evidence isn t clear as to what wiped out and
destroyed the Mycenean

The Relationship Of Tax Avoidance With Corporate Social...
There is an ongoing debate on the relationship of tax avoidance with corporate social
responsibility (CSR) and ethical behaviour of companies. Specifically, corporate social
responsibility can be defined as companies undertake the responsibility for social welfare and
development (Matten and Moon, 2008). For ethical behaviour, it is referred to govern the actions of
individuals and organizations in the business under contemporary standards (Epstein, 1998).
Moreover, this is the difference between taxavoidance, which companies use appropriate methods
to reduce the amount of tax within the law, and tax evasion, which can be defined as illegal to
reduce taxes (Hasseldine and Morris, 2013). According to US Treasury (2009), each year the US
government may lose more than $345 billion revenue because of a variety of tax avoidance.
Moreover, the UK government also faces the problem of losing tax, at ВЈ40 billion each year (HM
Revenue and Customs, 2010). In recent years, an increasing number of governments, media, and
non government organizations claim that corporate tax avoidance is not conducive to the
development of society and ethical behaviour of enterprises. The aims of this essay are to research
the motivations of corporate tax avoidance, and discusses to a large extent corporate social
responsibility and ethical behaviour of firms is in conflict with tax avoidance, even though they
have some consistency. The first section of the essay will research the motivations of

PROBLEMS AND ASPIRATIONS OF YOUTH AS HIGLIGHTED IN THE NOVELS OF
CHETAN BHAGAT INTRODUCTION: Trying hands on contemporary writing and then
reigning over hearts of millions is not that easy as has been proved by one of the prominent
writers of the day Chetan Bhagat. Very few authors have managed to reach out to such a wide
audience as Chetan Bhagat. There is originality of content in his writings and when he writes
people feel as if it is their story. He is a phenomenon that has affected everybody, touched
everybody s life. Indian Publishing shall now be divided into pre and post Chetan Bhagat. He has

A paragon of this philosophy can be seen in his novel One Night @ The Call Center , where the
hero, who answers the phone calls from clueless Americans about their cooking appliances,
remarks, Every cousin of mine is becoming a doctor or engineer,.......You can say I am the black
sheep of my family. Bhagat believes that India tends to have an academic and social revolution
to prevent young people simply regurgitating what they learn without thinking. He wants to
convey this message across to the Indian youth even if they don t get stratospheric marks, they
are still entitled to a happy life; and it s not the end of the world if they fail. He generally talks
about youngsters worries, their anxieties and all those things which preoccupy them, by means
of his writings. His writing subjects include parental academic pressure along with pre marital
sex, drinking and other topics taboo in socially conservative India. CHETAN BHAGAT S

New York s Bestseller The Other Wes Moore Essay
New York s bestseller The other Wes Moore, by Wes Moore is a story of how two kids with
similar backgrounds including similar names ended up with different outcomes in life. The
author Wes Moore ended with a degree from Oxford University and an internship at the white
house while the other Wes More got sentenced to life in prison for the murder of an off duty
police officer. The book goes into detail on why they ended up so differently and it turns out that
it could have been a number of life changing events and choices. However Malcolm Gladwell who
wrote the book Outliers, would argue that it may have been a result of external factors that would
contribute to the success of the author and the eventual fall of the other Wes Moore. For the
purpose of this paper we will address the author as either Moore or the author Wes Moore and the
other Wes Moore as Weston. Even though both Wes Moore s started off with similar backgrounds,
the difference between their mothers parenting styles and the difference in educational opportunity
s between the Wes Moore s made the difference in their outcomes. In fact, Gladwell would argue
that difference in the mothers cultural legacy, sense of meaningful work, economic privilege)
determine their parenting styles, which in made a difference in the educational opportunities of
their sons. Although both mothers struggle to keep their sons out of trouble, their reaction and
response to their behavior are different and can be explained

The Issue of Fast-Molding Homemade Bread Essay
Intro
In kitchens across America, and every other country across the world there is the issue of fast
molding homemade bread. Since these homemade breads have little to no chemical or otherwise
preservatives within them, they tend to mold many times faster than average store bought bread.
Why cook homemade bread some may ask? Why not walk on over to the nearest super market
and buy the cheapest brand? Well many of these overused preservatives have negative health
effects on people. People are allergic to a very high percentage of every day preservatives (such as
MSG, Mono Sodium Glutamate.) Ammonium for example is found in many bread and meat
products as a preservative. It is also used in various household cleaners. High amounts of ... Show

third place would be raisins having Вј of the surface area covered in mold. Fourthly would be the
salt having little to no sugar covering the bread. The way that percentages of bread covered with
mold were calculated was by using the preview app on Mac and counting the number of mold

Tenth Amendment provides that any powers that are not enumerated in the Constitution are

restriction on states powers to regulate. The dormant Commerce Clause refers to the prohibition,

Analysis Of Ben Jonson s Ode To Shakespeare
This week s lecture is focused on Ben Jonson, his love hate relationship with Shakespeare, his
lyric poetry, Jonson s purpose, Jonson s life, and Volpone . Jonson was constantly compared to
Shakespeare which is often deemed as unfair. Sadly. Jonson was always second best even though
they were two different people with different writing styles, temperament, artistic interests, etc..
However, this could be due to working around each other and always being in the same
surroundings. There were times when Jonson would hint at Shakespeare in his work but would
often try to make Shakespeare look bad in order to boost his ego. In my opinion, I do not blame
Jonson for doing this because he was tired of being compared to someone who was around... Show

In my opinion, I think it was wonderful that Jonson was able to achieve this because I am sure after
being compared to Shakespeare constantly that he needed something that he could call his own
achievement.
Next, Jonson s purpose was didactic. Didactic is defined the intent to teach or lecture others
while having a moral instruction as one s ulterior motive. Jonson was seen as a public poet. I
believe his used his poetry to teach others his neo classical virtues. He believed his poems could
be used as examples to introduce people to wisdom, honesty, and his version of a good life. In
my opinion, I think that Jonson s poems could be used as a template to show people how to live
a better life or to show the moral of the story. I think he was trying to teach others to embrace a
good moral standing. One could say that his ulterior motive was to teach people ethical principles
and artistic standards because he believed that someone of his standing should feel responsible to
show others that they should follow these rules. However, Jonson believed that his purpose was to
defined the good life but according to the lecture this would mean that Jonson would have to
discover his self knowledge and that it would have to be constant.
Next, Ben Jonson was born in London around June of 1572. Although, his father died two months
before his birth, Jonson was able to attend Westminster School but only for a short time. Afterwards,
he decided to follow in his stepfather s footprints

  • 2. Cost Allocation And Cost Management Cost Allocation Almost every single company that is in business faces a serious problem called cost allocation. Every company no matter what they sell or what service they provide faces the problem of allocating costs to defined cost objects. The cost allocation process is a very hard process for most. Costallocation is a very complex and difficult procedure that requires the application of appropriate accounting procedures. These accounting methods sometimes will not provide objective and fair cost allocation because they have irrational bases that are not always reliable or appropriate. This is why accounting theory and practice steadily try to advance upon methods that are already in place and help develop new ones that could provide objective and fair cost allocation (PerДЌeviД‡ DraЕѕiД‡, 2008). Cost allocation is a very crucial procedure for many companies not just production companies, but also in companies that provide service. Cost allocation has one purpose and that is to enable the determination of the cost of a product per unit in production companies and the cost of a provided service in service companies. Therefore, methods for cost allocation directly affect the service or product profitability assessment and at the same time sway segment and companyprofitability. The main problem is the choice of the cost allocation accounting approach. There are certain methods for cost allocation that do not apply the same to every company. If the method for ... • 3. George Washington s Influence On American History Historyi is defined as the study of past events, particularly in human affairs. With each passing day, history is being made and added on. Sites such as the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island has an important significance within American history. While these sites are well known to a majority of the U.S. population, many other sites are overlooked. These are sites that we pass every day without even realizing its significance within American history. The Morris Jumel Mansion or Mount Morris is a historical site that fits this description, it is located on 65 Jumel Terrace at 160th St in Manhattan, New York City and one of these oldest house in the borough of Manhattan. • 4. Nihilism Essay Nihilism as a philosophical idea was portrayed in Albert Camus The Fall, which our philosophy class read earlier in the semester, the main character we will call the judge penitent. Essentially this idea centered on humanity possessing self interest and in return for this possession morality is dubbed non existent. A philosopher who rejected this idea was Aristotle, known for being Plato s student, and his focus was on the universe. These two ideas clashed when it came to the meaning of happinessalong with other views which shall be discussed in this essay, mostly focusing on Aristotle s beliefs and how they reject the views of the judge penitent. These views will include how to define happiness, what is the core of human nature, and ethics... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also believes self interest is governed by seeking to fulfill certain bodily pleasures, such as power over others, having this will lead to our happiness (Camus, 1956). Aristotle on the other hand believes that human nature is focused on reaching an ultimate goal which he calls Eudaimonia meaning happiness, also called the telos. Reaching this happiness depends solely on the goals of the individual and is a process that never seems to end. Once reached maintaining happiness is a constant struggle since Aristotle believes this feeling is temporary, however it strives us to be better than our past selves. The key to happiness according to Aristotle is the use of reasoning in the right way. Obviously Aristotle s views on happiness seems to be what modern society would agree with, however what about the ethics of mankind and our moral virtues. To clearly see the viewpoints of Aristotle and judge penitent let s examine a situation that happens on occasion in our daily lives. You are walking to a destination and see two individuals of equal status arguing, but it escalates to a fist fight. What would be your next move? The judge penitent would argue to just walk away and not bother in the matter, since it could result in you being injured and you must look out for your own ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the help of her friends, family and colleagues, she gradually improves herself, attaining more knowledge, skills, and experience. • 7. Money Plays An Important Factor Money plays an important factor in schools decisions for cutting or reducing fine arts. Cutting fine arts saves money that could be used on academically stimulating programs and bettering Core subject areas. An Arizona newspaper reported that a school district was able to save one and a half million dollars when they completely cut their fine arts program (Faller). Fine arts takes up a large portion of schools budgets, and schools who cut it in its entirety would be able to save that money and set it aside for academic programs with more measurable results. Alternatively, schools also reduce their fine arts programs and make it more of an extracurricular activity. This continues the schools involvement and sponsorship for the arts, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Educators, administrators, and the public might also argue to increase fine arts funding, but only to the schools who are struggling to meet Core standards, as well as other educational requirements. In school facilities where there are large demographics of Hispanics and African Americans, students are less likely to have the opportunity to take art classes (Holcomb). Since these students won t receive as equal of an education as their peers, then something needs to intervene and equalize their opportunities with those who have access to these programs. Historically speaking, schools with high concentrations of minorities have generally had limited access to fine arts classes (Holcomb). This has been an ongoing problem, and an increase of funding to these schools may be the solution to the problem. According to a study in Social Science Quarterly , socioeconomic and ethnicity are factors in music participation in children; whites and Asians from higher socioeconomic backgrounds are more likely to play an instrument than African Americans or Hispanics (Holcomb). Increasing the funding for struggling schools may seem like one of the best solutions, but what happens to the schools with established and succeeding arts programs? Do they receive an increase of funding too? Chances are no, because these schools will statistically have higher standardized test scores than the struggling schools. ... • 8. Omelas Ethics Omelas is a city that is free of most of the troubles modern day cities face, such as pollution. This city is anything one could want it to be, as laid out by Le Guin. Omelas is an amazing place, where people can live freely and without worry, but they must live with the dark side of the city. Ethics plays a big role in The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas because the citizens must be cruel to this child, who is locked away from everything, for Omelas to be a prosperous city. The citizens of Omelas choose to treat the child in an inhumane way so the city can thrive. Le Guin writes They may brood over it for weeks or years. These people realize that they no longer want to live in a place where it is acceptable to imprison a child, and treat him very cruelly, without much concern towards the child. Leaving the city is important because Omelas is seen as a city in a fairy tale (736). Fairy tales are usually a fantasy about a world where everything ends happily ever after with dreams coming true. The citizens of Omelas learn that they, like the child, are not free (739). The realization that they are trapped may be the reason that so many of the citizens are no longer upset about the treatment of the child. All that is known about those that leave is that The place they go towards is even less imaginable to most of us than the city of happiness. I cannot describe it at all. Due to these exploitations in scientific research papers, media sites interpret data incorrectly, and distort the results of scientific research. Although many media sites, give faulty information, The Huffington Post does a fair job at interpreting the University of Buffalo s Research Institutes work on endocannabinoids and their effect on cognitive behavior. Comparing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The body naturally produces these compounds, which are similar to the chemicals in cannabis. Reduction of endocannabinoid production is one reason why chronic stress is a major risk factor in the development of depression. The research team at the university administered marijuana cannabinoids to the rats, finding it to be an effective way to restore endocannabinoid levels in their brains, alleviating some symptoms of depression. In addition, the university that found synthetic cannabinoids activated the part of the brain associated with traumatic memories in rats, preventing the behavioral and physiological symptoms of PTSD. The article notes that depression is such a complex mental disorder as well as alleviating it with cannabis. Because of the lack of testing on the relationship between cannabis and depression, there is no 100% statement claiming that marijuana can help depression in human trials, although there are promising lab tests on rats. The article clearly conveyed the testing, but was written according to an audience able to read at a fifth grade level, this is clearly visible because of the vocabulary as well as the sentence structure within the article. This is due to the fact that many Americans do not have the potential to read academic papers or research papers because lack of any higher education past a high school diploma. • 10. The Renaissance And Italian Renaissance The Renaissance (rebirth), was a time in which all art became more personalized and represented more than we see. There were two major stages in the Western European/ Italian Renaissance: Early Renaissance and High Renaissance. It gave patrons a new outlook on art and the world. Styles such as Mannerism, Fresco, and Parietal help advance art in western Europe. Most of the Renaissanceworks were religious,or had had something to do with the ancient times (ancient greece and roman culture). Not only was is a re birth of art, it was a re birth of scientific thinking and studying architecture. Mannerism was huge in Italy. One of the greatest pieces created in this style was Leonardo s Mona Lisa . Leonardo uses mysterious elements for the background, it recalls one of his other lesser known paintings named Madonna of the Rocks . The reason this piece is so fascinating is because Leonardo finished very few of his works. He did, however have a notebook of Renaissance Drawings . Since Leonardo was an architect as well as an artist, this led him to create some of the greatest technology man has ever known. They also resembled his ideas of what the Renaissance meant to him and the ideas he gained from this re birth. Some of Leonardo s tactics are still used today. Take cutaways for example. This style of imagery was used long before the age of X Rays. Leonardo was not the only one with Renaissance Drawings. It was common for a lot of Renaissance artists to have notebooks full of drawings. Artists usually used silverpoint stylus when drawing in their notebook. For other works, artists used different materials (ink pen, chalk, charcoal, brush, graphite/lead). This has lead me to believe that artists used different materials to create different moods, and to give each piece a different meaning. Another big name in the Renaissance was Raphael (Raffaello Santi). It is said that Raphael mostly likely learned his tactics and roots of Renaissance art from his father, Giovanni Santi. ... • 11. Baroque and Classical Wordpainting Techniques Renaissance and Baroque composers were faced with the task of creating complex pieces that express both human emotion and ideas. While this is primarily one of the main purposes of all forms of music itself, including genres today, in the 15th through 18th centuries, this was largely done through the musical composition of a piece rather than the lyrics. Composers utilized several different techniques in order to portray to the listener the purpose and meaning of the piece. Renaissance composers were focused on furthering the texts in music, fully developing the lyrics Therefore, the use of word painting, the musical representation of a literal word, phrase, or poetic image, is clearly seen in many pieces. Baroque music, with the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the piece Tu Se Morta this idea can be heard from the very first notes. After being told of Eurydice s death, Orpheus declares his emotions in Tu Se Morta. The piece begins an organ and a bass lute, the lute representing Orpheus harp, which speak to the song s dark tones. The singer s vocal lines are also fairly free, they have no set beat, meter, or phrase pattern. This, therefore, creates the sense of a monologue or soliloquy, an actor s expression of inner emotion. Monteverdi, like other Baroque composers, frequently used word painting. The opening words, You are dead, repeated and culminating in You have left me forevermore, never to return, and I remain, are song in a stretched out, long and slow fashion, but as the verse continues, intensity and volume is increased to result in basically an outburst by the words, ed io rimango, or and I remain. The free beat and meter of the vocals allows for the singer to illustrate the emotion of the text through the speed in which the words are sung and the intensity of each word. More traditional word painting is used in the sense that there is a low tone on abissi or abysses in order to depict the deepness and descending nature of the underworld. Another strategic low note is placed on morte to symbolize death and depression. Very high tones are used on the words stelle and sole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

But what is resistance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore one could argue that resistance to change is not a response or action that aims directly at change but rather a failure of building a relationship between the management team and the team members of the organisation. Thus it is the management team responsible as well for the arising of resistance to change as it is an active participation of the process. A change is the process of changing the old way or usual way of doing thing and implements a new way or different path of doing thing and thus change could create fear of the unknown for the participants (Mintzberg Waters, 1985)6. In order to make change happen, it is important for both parties, the change recipient and change agent to actively seeking information, feedback, goal and objective of change. The key word here would be Communication . By being honest to the recipient, letting them known of the expectation from the change and the beneficial likeliness that change would bring to personal gain and to the organisation, this would encourage the participant to adopt change process (Kim Rousseau, 2006)7. Is cultural difference a source of resistance to change? Researchers have proved that there is a strong correlation between change success rate and cultural values/ belief (Kotter, 19958; Schein, 19929). The concept of organisational change is very closely linked with the culture context (Schein, 1992)10. Even though there is no hard evidence ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1847, the city was captured by U.S. forces under Winfield Scott to end the Mexican American War. The price for Mexico was the loss of the land that is now most of the southern U.S. In 1863, the city was captured again, but this time by French forces, upset that Mexico refused to pay its debt to France on time. The French controlled the city for a year until Mexican forces retook it in 1864. Over the next 30 years, Mexico City really began to thrive. Under Porfirio Diaz, more roads and telegraph lines were constructed. Rail lines into the U.S. and other provinces of Mexico were built, and foreign investment greatly increased, as well. In 1910, Mexico City had grown to a population of 471,000. The following 10 years saw all of Mexico in a state of disarray as a revolution was taking place. Religion played a big role in shaping the values, attitudes, and conduct of the Spanish during the Age of Discovery and Conquest (1492 1579). The colonial church provided control and a standard of conduct and living for the new world. In fact, the colonial church had even more power in Spanish America then it did in Spain. Why this is important though, is because it limited the possibility of rebellion and opposition. As long as the church was in place, there was Spanish order, and as long as there was Spanish order, the colonization process could continue to run smoothly and prosper. Nurtured by the crown, the colonial church thrived. Its main priorities were to convert the Indians, and to theoretically justify the Iberian presence in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conversion process did not go on without a hitch though, throughout the new world missionaries had many obstacles to overcome. The first problem they ran into was the vast number of native languages they encountered. Another is the scattered geographical locations of many tribes, because there wasn t an easy pattern to follow, Christianity and conversion could not spread as rapidly as they would ve liked it to. A third way in which the conversion was more difficult than intended, was when they came across native religions that shared some of the same beliefs, although it helped that some basic ideologies were already in place, it was much harder for Christianity to be seen as new and unique. Unlike the original settlers, evangelicals who traveled to convert did not show the same respect for the indigenous g ds; the Christian g d was to stand alone. The native religions were destructed very systematically; natives who practiced their religions instead of converting were also prosecuted, and many times by the priests themselves. In these areas of evangelical settlers who would conquest throughout Latin America, laws were even put in place to ensure the practicing of Christianity. As declared by Prudence, the law dictated that Natives, whatever their private beliefs, publicly comply with their conqueror s religion (Burkholder Johnson 109). • 18. The Effect Of Osmosis On O Shelled Chicken Eggs On... Abstract: The purpose to this experiment was to study the effect of osmosis in de shelled chicken eggs in different percentages of sucrose solutions. Osmosis is the process, in which, water moves across a differentially permeable membrane. The eggs were soaked in vinegar to remove the outside hard shell but still leave the egg in its membrane. By placing the six de shelled in different sucrose solutions, we tested the rate of osmosis. The eggs were placed in the solutions for an hour and weighed in fifteen minute intervals. Then, each weight was recorded and graphed. The results showed that the egg in the water solutiongained the most weigh and the only other egg that gained a little weight was the one in the 10% solution. All the other eggs in the different solutions lost weight, even the unknown solution. According to the results the egg that was in the distilled water solution gained weight because it is the hypertonic solution. All the other eggs lost weight because they were placed in hypotonic solutions with different concentrations of sucrose. The egg that was placed in the higher concentrationof sucrose lost the most weight. So, the higher the concentration of sucrose, the more water the egg lost. Introduction: Diffusion is the movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration until equilibrium is reached. One significant moment of change in the Jewish history, the fall of the Second Temple, had the opportunity to destroy Judaism, but the Jewish people bonded together and reformulated their religion in order to save their faith. Once a faith centered on priesthood, sacrificial rituals, communal gatherings and oral traditions, the people of the Jewish religion decided to restructure the faith around written scripture. Although it is argued that rabbis began work on compiling the oral histories prior to the fall of the Second Temple, there was a marked resurgence in documentation of the important history and moral laws of Judaism after the fall (Molloy, 291). The Jewish people felt a sense of urgency to finish the written works. They believed the incorporation of written word into Judaism would help to solidify their place in the religious world, as well as make the faith easier to correctly interpret among their own vastly dispersed people (BBC, 2009). The most important of these written documents is the Hebrew Bible. This bible is composed of the Torah, Nevi im and Ketuvim, and these three components combine to make up the Tanakh (Simmons, 83). The American (neo) pragmatism philosophy is a philosophical movement that was given systematic terms by Charles Sanders Peirce and William James and later taken up and revamped by John Dewey. Pragmatism concur with empiricism in its emphasis on the importance of experience over a priori reasoning. However the truth had customarily been discussed in terms of communication with reality or in terms of coherence pragmatism embraces that truth is to be sought in the process of verification. Involvement of Canonical Insulin To look at the involvement of canonical insulin/PI3K/Akt pathway in adipocytes leptin secretion the study measured it using insulin resistant DIO mice with HFD and CD fed mice, with the HFD mice gaining higher body and fat mass. Cell lysate of both HFD and CD fed mice were subjected to western blotting and it was observed that phospho Akt level in adipocytes from HFD fed mice was lower than the CD fed mice after insulinstimulation, showing insulin resistancein the HFD fed mice. Also, the fasting leptinlevel of HFD fed mice is ten times higher than the CD fed mice. Refeeding, resulted in no significant increase in plasma leptin levels in HFD fed mice after two hours, whereas with the CD fed mice there was a significant increase in plasma leptin levels. This implies that leptin production and/or secretion after refeeding is impaired in HFD fed mice. To verify that there is a decrease in systematic leptin level, the researchers isolated primary adipocytes from HFD and CD fed mice and then determined ISLS in ex vivo. The result was that ISLS was significantly lower in primary adipocytes from HFD fed mice. This supports the hypothesis that impaired ISLS in HFD fed mice in vivo and ex vivo was dependent on PI3K/Akt activation. Furthermore, there is an essential role of PI3K/Akt in regulating ISLS in primary adipocytes as seen when blocking PI3K activity with wortmannin. This significantly inhibits ISLS without affecting basal leptin secretion. Also, AKT 1/2 inhibitor Akti ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Overview On Flowers.com Flowers.com 1 800 FLOWERS.com was founded in 1976 as a single store, only coming into real growth as a prominent floral wire service (a third party company that manages orders between customers and local florists) in the late 80s and 90s. It achieved great growth and public notice by investing early in emerging technologies, partnering with early internet providers as early as 1992 and establishing tele commerce by 1995 (and mobile apps by 2012). 1 800 FLOWERS.com is a multi platform business that uses the internet, retail stores, and over 100 franchise stores to sell its products. In addition to selling flower arrangements, 1 800 FLOWERS.com owns many other companies such as Fannie May Confections, Inc. (premium chocolates and confections), Cheryl Co. (fresh baked gifts and desserts), 1 800 BASKETS.com (gift baskets), The Popcorn Factory, Winetasting.com and many others (which has leads to fears about brand dilution). 1 800 FLOWERS.com reduces the bargaining power of suppliers by working directly with local professional florists by setting up a BloomNet florist to florist wire service network. 1 800 FLOWERS.com comparatively has a much larger revenue than the industry in general ($660.9 million compared to $76.1 million) and a larger variable employee base (because of very busy days like Valentine s Day, etc.). On the way he meets a man who offers him his staff, saying that it might help him walk faster, but Goodman Brown refuses and wishes to return back to his village for the sake of his wife, Faith. Tom seeks wealth and in return the devil asks for his soul. In both stories, the authors express their feelings and views about staying away from indulgence and sin. In spite of all the difference among Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brownand Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker, they share salient similarities such as setting, symbolism, and author s purpose. To begin with, Hawthorne and Irving portray a similar use of setting in their works of literature. Both authors illustrate a gloomy setting which takes place in remote areas of Massachusetts around the same period of time. For instance, The Devil and Tom Walker takes place in a historical area settled by Quakers and Puritans where religion and virtue is widespread among the people. There is an ongoing debate on the relationship of tax avoidance with corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ethical behaviour of companies. Specifically, corporate social responsibility can be defined as companies undertake the responsibility for social welfare and development (Matten and Moon, 2008). For ethical behaviour, it is referred to govern the actions of individuals and organizations in the business under contemporary standards (Epstein, 1998). Moreover, this is the difference between taxavoidance, which companies use appropriate methods to reduce the amount of tax within the law, and tax evasion, which can be defined as illegal to reduce taxes (Hasseldine and Morris, 2013). According to US Treasury (2009), each year the US government may lose more than $345 billion revenue because of a variety of tax avoidance. Moreover, the UK government also faces the problem of losing tax, at ВЈ40 billion each year (HM Revenue and Customs, 2010).
