Merger Between Daimler And Chrysler
The merger between Daimler and Chrysler was expected to be a success in the economy especially
with the current trend and demand in the automotive sector. Daimler is considered one of the most
successful and profitable automotive companies across the globe. Founded in 1893 as the Daimler
Motor Syndicate Ltd, its growth and expansion in the automotive sector has been facilitated by the
need to meet the interests and needs of its key stakeholders (Barnard, 1998). The vehicles that are
manufactured by the company are of high standard and the quality is top notch. Most of its
customers are concerned with the satisfaction level that they achieve when they purchase the motor
vehicles. The implementation of the luxurious car segment meant that the trend in the economy has
considerably changed and there was need for improving the brand image and the superiority of the
products offered.
According to Barnard (1998), Daimler s merger with Chrysler was undertaken due to the need to
expand its operations and initiatives across the globe. Chrysler is considered one of the smallest
automobiles sectors when it is considered with the three biggest U.S. automakers, which includes
Ford and General Motors. Understanding the trend in the economy, the company implemented its
operations in the North American market with the intention of tapping on the mass market that was
available in the region.
The two companies had distinct motives and objectives for undertaking merger. Daimler s objective

Four Step Process Law,
PART A Four Step Process (20 marks) Question (a) 10 marks The legal issue in question was the
elements of agreement that are required for the formation of a legal contract. The elements of an
agreement that are required for the formation of a legal contract is that it should consist of both
offer and acceptance. This being said, there are principles that constitute an offer and acceptance.
An offer consists of the element of promissory. This means that there must be an undertaking or
promise to give or do something. This is shown in the Placer Development Ltd v Cth case, where
the Commonwealth agreed to pay a subsidy to timber importers an amount of money or interest rate
that is determined by the Commonwealth from time to time.... Show more content on

Besides, expires over a specific time frame depending on the conditions, it is able to be
withdrawn prior to an acceptance made. Lastly, an offer lapses when a counter offer is made as
well. The other element of agreement is acceptance. An acceptance must be made on the same
term as the offer and can only made by the person who the offer is addressed to. Meanwhile, an
acceptance must be made while the offer is still in existence and it must be made in an
acceptable form which means that the acceptance must be made in the same manner of the offer
was offered. Lastly, the acceptance is effective when communicated. When an acceptance is via
post, it is effective when the letter of acceptance is posted. This is shown in the case of
Henthorn v Fraser where Fraser offered Henthorn the selling of houses for 750 dollars and gave
14 days to accept the offer. The next day, Henthorn accepted the offer and posted a letter to
Fraser. However, Fraser was offered a better price on selling of the houses before he received the
letter and wished to withdraw it. The issue is that should the acceptance has already been made
once the letter was posted. The court decided that the acceptance stands the moment it was
posted (Henthorn v Fraser [1892] 2 Ch 27, cited in Lambiris 2012, 204). This is as well as the
email. When an acceptance is via email, it is accepted based on when the email is sent by the

Why Vietnam Invaded Vietnam
To commence, I decided to peruse historical novels associating with the Cambodian Vietnamese
Conflict. The Martin Luther King Jr. library was the only library I could think that held
numerous, historical chronicles. Primarily, I strived to find a specific book called Why Vietnam
Invaded Cambodia: Political Culture and the Causes of War by Stephen J. Morris. By quickly
examining the book on the Internet, this book was perfect for my topic; the title of the book
was even a giveaway. However, the library lost the novel; I looked everywhere on the shelf and
came up with nothing. So I had to improvise to find similar books, I found two novels which
would greatly satisfy my research topic. One was The Rise and Demise of Democratic Kampuchea

Reactions from the Cambodians fluctuated negatively; when the invasion was victorious for the
Vietnamese, the Cambodians felt relieved about foreign influence. Also, they believed foreign
control would be quite the benefit for the nation. However, the educated population migrated to
Thailand because they did not want to more exposure to Socialism. Numerous countries felt
threatened by the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia; Thailand authorized for Khmer Rouge
authorities to seek refuge in their nation. The United States was insecure about the situation as they
believed Vietnam strived to spread Communism with Soviet Union s assistance through their
alliance. In 1981, the U.S. Secretary of State, Alexander Haig, condemned Vietnam and the Soviet
Union of using chemical weapons against Democratic Kampuchea; which violates the 1925 Geneva
Accord. However, China expressed the most vexation; after Vietnam signed a treaty of cooperation
with the new Cambodia and Laos, China began to invade Vietnam. Despite this, China suffered
numerous losses and withdrawn the troops. Within Cambodia, there have been multiple attempts to
overthrow the new government. Politicians, including Son Sann and Khieu Samphan, and King
Sihanouk have planned many operations to establish domestic authority over Vietnamese control.

Graphically Representing Data And Distribution Tables That...
Graphically Representing Data
Within a School Setting
Christopher M. Lightfoot Abstract
This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables that are
represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are interpreted within
two types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first type of data set that is mentioned
is a discrete nominal data set that is graphically displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which
displays the reoccurrence of each category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The
second data type referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple
frequency table. The simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a pie
chart (see Figure 2), which measures the percentages within a four point Likert Scale (see Table 3).
The final data source is a continuous interval set, which was interpreted through a cumulative
frequency table (see table 4). The cumulative frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3
as a combination of a histogram (which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter
points (to identify the cumulative percentage between all of the class intervals).
Graphically Representing Data
Within a School Setting
The creation of frequency distribution tables allows for the conversion of the data within the set
into a dramatic graphic representation. Research from the

Minutehound Case Study
With a payroll web clock, you can put a stop to time theft in the workplace. Using the biometric
fingerprint technology from MinuteHound, you eliminate time theft because it becomes next to
impossible for fellow coworkers to clock in for each other. No one has the same fingerprint, and
that means that when your employees clock in and out of work with a payroll web clock, you can
rest assured that you have the right person.
Because of our payroll web clock, you do not have to maintain a time card or keep inventory.
Everything gets done using the revolutionary technology of a payroll web clock from
MinuteHound. The system has become so advanced that whenever an employee clocks in or out of
work, the system will send an email or text message ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With the live reporting accessible from anywhere that has an Internet connection, MinuteHound
ensures that you stay updated to everything happening in the workplace. The software is also
exceptionally intuitive and navigable. You do not have to worry about a learning curve or training
to get started with implementing this new technology. If you do encounter problems, you can
contact MinuteHound s around the clock support. The knowledgeable and friendly support would
love to answer questions and resolve issues that you might be having.
Another concern that business owners sometimes have about MinuteHound is that they will be
transferring data, which can lead to data breaches and more problems. Because MinuteHound uses
128 bit encryption for data transfers, you can rest assured that everything will be safe. The payroll
web clock from MinuteHound works using the cloud, so your data will have redundant backup and
further protection to guarantee security.
In the perfect world, everyone would clock in and out of work when they are supposed to. While
it may not create the perfect world, a payroll web clock will bring you a little closer to bringing
time theft to a screeching halt. The problem costs American businesses billions of dollars each
year, and you will be surprised at the difference that a payroll web clock will

Types Of Binary Fission Decay
1)Describe the difference between: autotrophs, heterotrophs, chemotrophs, and phototrophs.
Autotrophs are organisms that can synthesize their own energy supply out of inorganic matter, such
as light or chemicals Heterotrophs are organisms that cannot synthesize their own energy, so they
receive their energy by consuming organic matter, such as plants or animals. Chemotrophs are
organisms that acquire energy an oxidation reduction reaction of organic or inorganic chemicals;
this meaning the electron donors of that environment have become oxidized. Phototrophs are
organisms that solely use light as the energy source to produce nutrients, such as the process of
photosynthesis.
2)Describe purpose and steps of binary fission. Also, explain how binary fission is described
mathematically and graphically and identify the two interchangeable terms used to describe this
growth.
Binary fission is the process in which a cell grows twice its normal size, and then the cell divides
in half to produce two daughter cells. This process is carried out by unicellular organisms because
it is their only way of reproduction. The cell begins this process by replicating the cell s DNA, and
the duplicated chromosomes attach to the cytoplasmic membrane or microtubules. Once attached,
these attachment sites push the chromosomes apart to expand the entire cell body. The cell now
produces a new cytoplasmic membrane, and along the mid line of the cell a septum begins to form.

Dramatic Roadside Conversion Of Saul To Paul
Just because individuals complete great works for God, does not mean that they were formerly
great. One of the major characters in the Bible was formerly a killer but was changed by, A
dramatic roadside conversion that turned Saul into Paul and persecutor of Christians into one of
their greatest missionaries. (PBS, 2017) God saw both Paul s past and future; and decided that his
past was a perfect opportunity for a redemption story. God would use him for his glory to reach
others and change the world forever.
I. Overview of the Character.
The conversion of Saul to Paul interests me because I believe Paul is a great example of God s
forgiveness and grace. God took a man that formerly that attempted to tear his kingdom down
and turned him into one of the greatest expanders of his kingdom. He is a perfect example of
how God transforms lives for the better. Many individuals feel that they cannot be used by God
because of their past, Paul shows the world that God can use anyone for his glory regardless of
what sins one has committed in the past. Paul is a great example of God s appeal to humanity and
his love for it.
II. Their World.
A. Political.
Saul was born in Cilica in a town called Tarsus. In the times of Saul, this city was extremely
important because it was one of the largest trade centers on the Mediterranean coast. The city was
extremely populated because people came from all over the Roman Empire to find work and live in
this successful city. Although, Tarsus

Advantages And Disadvantages Of International Commercial...
5.1 Critical Analysis
International commercial arbitration has evolved, primarily, against the background of two
unifying international traditions: the private international legal tradition, directed at the
harmonization of laws; and the public international law tradition, committed to reducing global
barriers to trade. International Commercial arbitration is the most widely used tool for resolution of
trade or commercial disputes. The effort should be made to tackle the problems which will benefit
commercial transaction activities. Most of the domestic courts were very slow in dealing with
Arbitration cases. Therefore, parties now resort to Arbitration in order to avoid lengthy and
complex litigation procedure.
The Study findings revealed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A practical solution to avoid this issue is to include an Immunity Waiver Clause in the arbitration
agreement. States are generally not comfortable with this clause; however, this puts an obligation
on the state to not use this as a defence during enforcement of awards. Once any State agrees to
arbitration, it is an assumed principle that the State has waived its Sovereign Immunity. Under
International Conventions like New York Convention, if the state enters into an agreement, it is
treated as if the State has waived its Immunity and can be taken up as strong evidence against the
State. The situation is difficult as national courts (dealing with enforcement of awards) refuse to
build up special rules and regulations for the enforcement of arbitral awards and they are guided
by the principles applicable in judicial proceedings . Therefore it is probable on some occasions for
litigants to conquer the hindrance that are present while enforcing an award against

Hindu Temple Research Paper
When I first pulled up to the Won Buddhist Temple, it was sort of what I had expected. Being
that the original Buddha was a human, I did not expect an elaborate building, such as the Hindu
temple. I did not have a clear picture in my mind about what the temple would look like, but I
did picture a smaller and simpler looking building. One of the most pleasantly surprising aspects
I noticed at the beginning of the visit was how those at the temple were of all different ages,
races, and genders. Seeing this made me more excited for the service because it showed that the
teachings were something that appealed to a wide range of people. Similar to the Hindu temple
visit, I was nervous and hesitant at first because I was afraid to offend someone.... Show more

I like to think of myself as someone who is comfortable with silence, but usually only under
circumstances in which I am actively doing something. Therefore, I was nervous just thinking
about the fact that I would have to sit still for an extended period of time and silently meditate.
During the 25 minutes of silent meditation I experienced different feelings. At the beginning, I
will admit that I was thinking about how much longer I had left and wondering how I was going
to be able to sit there the whole time. Towards the middle of the mediation, I did begin to relax
and let my mind wander, but I will be honest and say that the counting amount of time we had
been sitting there was still in the back of my mind. When the bell rang to end the quiet time, I
felt a sense of calm, but I think I was mostly relieved that it was over. I think that meditation
definitely takes practice, and from this experience, it is something that I would consider giving
another try. I am a person that stresses a lot about even the most trivial issues, so I believe that
mediation would be a good outlet for me to spend some time each day and just relax and try not
think too much. I think that, especially for thy worrier type person that I am, this will be easier
said than done, but my experience at the temple inspired me to give it another shot. I enjoyed the
small sense of calm that I did experience, and I think with

Apple iPhone 4 8GB vs Samsung Galaxy S2
Build amp; Design
When it comes to design, the iPhone 4S takes the prize. It s small, beautiful and everyone knows
exactly what kind of phone you have when you pull it out. The Galaxy S II devices aren t exactly
ugly, but they aren t exactly head turners either, suffering from a me too design sensibility of all
black devices without any real flair.
Both the Apple and the Samsung handsets are dominated by large displays that cover the front of
the device. They also have the same basic button and port layout, though the buttons on the iPhone
4S are slightly larger and easier to operate.
The Winner
While there are advantages and disadvantages to each device, there isn t a clear cut winner for this
comparison. The iPhone 4S wins when it comes to design appeal, portability, screen resolution, and
maximum memory capacity, but the screen is smaller than the Galaxy S II devices, and it doesn t
support memory expansion cards.
The Galaxy S II devices have larger screens and a larger footprint, but they include Microsoft

The Ferocactus Latispinus
Assignment #2 The ferocactus latispinus, commonly known as the crow s claw cactus, is a barrel
cactus originated from Mexico. The cactus is in the phylum Tracheophyta and of the family
Cactaceae, with three recognized subspecies. It resides in the states of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato,
Jalisco, QuerГ©taro, Zacatecas, Coahuila, Oaxaca, Hidalgo, San Luis PotosГ, Puebla, and Mexico
State. The crow s claw grows in mountain elevations of ten thousand feet, and blooms between
the months of October and March. Goats are a great factor in dispersing viable seeds of the
cactus. (IUCN) The body of the crow s claw cactus is barrel like, and averages approximately ten
to fifteen inches in height. Fourteen to twenty three ribs and grey black areoles compose the
body of the cactus, along with four large central spines. The cactus blooms yellow or pink purple
flowers in late autumn or the early winter, and are 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. (Faucon) A
distinctive difference between crow s claw cactus and other plants is that cacti have stems which
function as leaves. Because cacti do not have leaves, stems contain main photosynthetic organs,
areoles, and water storage tissues. In addition, stems are coated with a cuticle, a waxy layer that
prevents water loss. A possible hypothesis as to why cacti, specifically the ferocactus latispinus,
have stems rather than leaves relates to the climate in which cacti grow; environments in which
cacti grow in are relatively hot and dry, with little

The New Right Essay
Starting during the 1970s, factions of American conservatives slowly came together to form a new
and more radical dissenting conservative movement, the New Right. The New Right was just as
radical as its liberal opposite, with agendas to increase government involvement beyond the
established conservative view of government s role. Although New Right politicians made
admirable advances to dissemble New Deal economic policies, the movement as a whole counters
conservativism and the ideologies that America was founded on. Although the New Right adopts
conservative economic ideologies, its social agenda weakened the conservative movement by
focusing public attention to social and cultural issues that have no place within the established Old

George Gilder stays true to Old Right s pure market position in his book Wealth and Poverty,
where he promoted uncurbed capitalism and pure free enterprise. He rejected all forms of welfare
and redistribution, arguing that current welfare and other subsidy programs substantially reduce
work and incurs bitter resistance of the real working class . Gilder strayed from establishment
ideology when he added a moral element to his position, citing monogamous heterosexual marriage
as a requirement for upward mobility. Gilder is an example of how New Right intellectuals
borrowed Old Right economic theory and then tainted it by adding elements of morality and
traditionalism.
The Old Right also found common ground with Reagan s measures to deregulate business,
however many argued that he did not expand the policies enough. Reagan froze new regulations
and ordered a rollback of existing rules to decrease bureaucracy within federal regulation and
public services but failed to dismantle or privatize any federal programs. The push to privatize the
Social Security system is a central example of the New Right failing to fully dismantle New Deal
liberalism. Libertarian intellectual, J.D. Dorn, promoted privatization as a vital measure to keep

Abstract Of Cyclic Voltammograms
Fig. 3. Cyclic voltammograms (A) and Nyquist plots (B) recorded at bare GCE (a), ОІ Ni(OH)2

3.5.Electrocatalytic oxidation of nitrite on the modified electrode
The electrocatalytic activity of the ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE toward nitrite was studied by recording
cyclic voltammograms from the range of potential 0.3 to 1.1 V in the absence (a) and presence (d)
of 100 ОјM nitrite, and compared with other different electrodes such as ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE and
bare GCE. As can be seen from Fig. 4, there is no well defined peak on bare GCE, which may be
due to the sluggish electron transfer process in GCE. At ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE, the weak peak appears
at 0.96 V related to oxidation process of NO2в€’ to NO3в€’ according to the following reaction:
NO2в€’ + H2O NO3в€’ + 2H+ + 2eв€’(8)
In addition, no evidence of peaks was found at ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE in the absence of nitrite,
while after adding 100 ВµM nitrite into the phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0), an obvious
irreversible oxidation peak at about 0.82 V is observed (curve d), which is 140 mV negatively
shifted compared with ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. Furthermore, the oxidation peak current on ОІ
Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE is larger than that on ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. This indicated that the large effective
area of electrode resulting from high conductivity and high surface area of CDs, as well as the
synergistic effects of ОІ Ni(OH)2 and CDs improve the catalytic behavior toward the oxidation of
nitrite.Fig. 4. cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of the bare GCE (b), ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE (c), and ОІ

Effect of pH solution
The effects of the solution pH on the peak current and potential for nitrite oxidation using ОІ

of 1 10. As shown in Fig. S2, the current responses

obstacles at work. There are many ways to deal with them, and due to human nature, they are dealt
with uniquely. Working within a team environment brings its own obstacles. This paper will
discuss obstacles in team dynamics and how to overcome them. Obstacles in Team Dynamics
By the time people reach adulthood, they have gone through many obstacles in their lives.
Perhaps an individual has been passed over at work, had someone close to them die, lost a job, or
just lost direction. Those are some of life s many obstacles. As part of a group, there are obstacles
that have to be overcome in a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There can be major obstacles that hinder team effectiveness. Each individual must have well
defined responsibilities and communication skills.
Not having well defined responsibilities within the group is a major hazard. If the responsibilities
are not laid out properly in the early stages, one person may think that another is doing a particular
task and it may never get done. This can result in finger pointing and conflicts within the team.
Communications can break down when members do not know how to be clear and concise in
their wording and are not open or honest. A member may agree with the team in choosing a topic
but not be honest with other team members. They may hold a grudge or think their ideas were not
considered. My question is how can a team member s ideas be considered if they were never
properly provided?
Poor Selection of Team Members Poor selection of the members of a team could occur for
several reasons. The abilities of the team may be so diverse that working together is virtually
impossible. Another reason could be the abilities of each team member. There could possibly be
personality conflicts that cause failure of the team. A team well built is committed to each other
and have common goals. Without the commitment and goal, there is no way a team will succeed.
Des Dearlove (2002) wrote, Professor Belbin discovered that certain combinations of personality
types performed more successfully than

Should Fantasy Sports Be Legalized
State of New York vs DraftKings and FanDuel
Intro
Since the inception of fantasy sports companies, very few industries have grown this significantly
in such a short time span. Amidst the growth in popularity of daily fantasy betting FanDuel and
DraftKings are aggressively expanding to reach the 51 million current fantasy sports users in the
US and Canada alone. Although fantasy sports companies are growing in popularity they are also
experiencing increased scrutiny. Criticism stems from the belief that daily fantasy sports betting
should be illegal or heavily regulated at the state level since it is considered to be online gambling.

In December 2015, amidst the discontent, attorney general Eric Schneiderman filed a lawsuit ...

By observing the recent growth in popularity of fantasy sports, there is no doubt that the market
will eventually have to be regulated or deemed illegal. However, given the growth in appetite for
sports gambling delegitimizing the regulated industry would simply lead to a surge in illegal
gambling.
According to an ESPN survey, approximately 38% of Americans admitted to betting on sports in
2008.
The fact that the outcome is only determined partially by skill proves that their business model
comprises of betting and is therefore illegal according to law in the state of New York.
DraftKings and FanDuel argue that since a small minority of costumers amass a majority of the
victories there is a significant level of skill involved.
They are pushing to convince the court that the players have an effect on the outcome of the game
and therefore the outcome is based on skill.
What is interesting about this case is the fact that the destiny of a whole industry that is dominant in
New York is dependent on this verdict.
The court s interpretation of the law is the key aspect of this case as it will determine whether the

Comparing Genesis And The Genesis Of The Gilgamesh And...
Comparing The Gilgamesh and Genesis There is a collection of evidence to prove and explain how
the Israelite people might have known or heard some Babylonian myths. This evidence is shown
through similarities in the Genesis creation myths and many Babylonian myths. As an example,
there are many similarities shown throughout the Gilgamesh story that relates to the Noahstory in
Genesis. Some similarities include the heroes character, the order to build a boat, the number of
animals, the means of the flood, and the action of sacrificing after the flood. These are only a
few of the many similarities interpreted in these stories. The first similarity is that the character
of the heroes in both the Gilgamesh story as well as the Genesis/Noah story. In both stories, the
heroes character is righteous. For example, in Noah s Ark, it states that a righteous man
(Genesis 6:9) was directed to build an ark to save a limited and select group of people and all
species of animals. Noah received these orders directly from God. On the other hand,
Utnapishtim received his order from a dream. Accordingly, both heroes were ordered to build a
boat. In the Gilgamesh, Utnapishtim is clearly instructed to build a boat and leave all wealth
behind. O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubartutu: Tear down the house and build a boat! Abandon
wealth and seek living beings! (Gilgamesh 23 25). In comparison, at the beginning of the Noah
flood story, Noah is also instructed to build a boat or an ark

Understanding Hate Crime Statutes And Building Towards A...
The topic of hate crime is so controversial because there can be different perspectives on the whole
issue, which can eventually cause a massive huge debate on the entire matter. In Ben Gillis article
called Understanding Hate Crime Statutes and Building Towards a Better System in Texas, the
author separates his points in a way that can give the reader a better way of understanding the Hate
Crimelaws and the effects of it. Gillis s way of dissecting the article is extremely effective due to
the fact that not only he explains what exactly a hate crime is in its basic form but he also
explains hate crime in its entirety, and he also shows how some states adapt to the whole issue.

Now any one can take a jab at what they think a hate crime is but in the article Understanding
Hate Crime Statutes and Building Towards a Better System in Texas the author supports us with
his definition of a what is a hate crime a hate crime, at its basic level is an attack upon the person
or property of an individual motivated by hatred of a characteristic of that person, such as race,
religion, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity (Gillis 199). Now that the definition gives us
clarity on what exactly labeled onto what exactly is considered a hate crime. For example, did
you know that if someone vandalizes a synagogue and they write something offensive to the
Followers of that particular religion that will be considered a hate crime because of the person
is motivated by hatred towards the Followers (Gillis 199). You may have your own perspective
on a particular group but if you so happen to put your hands on the person to harm them because
of your belief it becomes a hate crime. In its basic form of what is a hate crime Gillis uses the
definition so that the reader aware hate crime criteria. Let us take another article for example, In
opening of Jesse Larner s article Hate Crime/Thought Crime he alluded to a situation where two
Caucasian men decided to go and attack two African American with the intent to do some
serious harm to them. There were no knowledge as to what was motivated them to do so. One
thing for sure according to Larner, Sean Riley Caught up to one of the victims and remorselessly
told her I m going to kill you, you black bitch . Without a doubt it is extremely obvious that hatred
of a specific race was the driving force behind the gruesome actions posed by the two men
especially Mr. Sean Riley. There s no way that the 1st amendment of the United States correlate with

My Experience At The United States Of America
When I was little, around six years old, some of my acquaintances fantasised of being princesses
while others dreamed of being police officers or knights. My notion was not as preposterous as
theirs, but almost as out of reach; I wanted to study in the United States of America, better said I
wanted to move there. Growing up in a relatively small town, where everyone seemed to share the
same principles once they got past their childhood virtuous, I felt stuck.
Once again, I was a dreamer, forever stuck in the what ifs scenarios of my own imagination.
Hence, I was not contented, I wanted to experience the world outside of those city walls, the cities
I saw and heard about on TV, I wanted to experience a different world, because I simply reckoned
that everything would get better once I left. As I got older, those dreams, of moving aboard and
starting all over, only got more insane. On some days, where I felt like my world was breaking
apart again, I came home, crying and begging my mom to take a job aboard. To be honest, I had
yet to learn about visa restrictions and all the social security benefits that Germany, as compared
to international standards, had. In other words, my mom quickly made me realise that I had to
wait for College to finally leave the city behind. This, nevertheless, did not stop me from
divulging it to everyone around me. While my classmates always reaffirmed me as dewy eyed,
adults simply labeled it as the guileless state of reverie.

Origins of the N-Word Essay
The words Negro, nigger, and nigga have always been a sensitive topic, yet it is a topic that
needs to be addressed in light of the more common use of its vernacular. One word is used to
describe a color, while the others are used to define a people. It s very clear to many the negative
connotation these words carry, but where did these words come from? Furthermore, is there a
difference between the word niggerand nigga; and why is it that African Americans now use the

The Europeans no longer used the word to describe a color, but used it to describe a people. No
matter what the origin, this word was used as a weapon to destroy and kill the mind and spirit of
a race, and has become the self fulfilling prophecy for many African Americans today. So many
people have forgotten or either do not realize the destruction behind this racial slur; that it has
simply become another by word with a forgotten history. Ignorance is the state of being
uneducated, unaware, or uniformed. There is an old saying, What you don t know, won t hurt
you, but I contend that what you don t know can stifle you from moving ahead. There are so
many young African Americans walking in ignorance to the history of their race. For example,
when I was growing up, my attentive parents often took opportunities to teach me about and
encouraged me not to sit on the back of a public transportation bus. Their ideology came from the
idea that there were many who fought for, were imprisoned, and even died for my right to sit
anywhere on a public bus. However, I consistently watched as my African American friends
immediately flocked to the back of a bus. I used to mentally ask myself, Do they not know their
history?

Andrew Jackson s Views On The Election Of 1824
Andrew Jackson s path to presidency was unique. In the election of 1824, there were four main
candidates, John Quincy Adams, Henry Clay, William H. Crawford, and Andrew Jackson.
Jackson gained the most popular votes of the four Democratic Republican candidates, but not the
majority of electoral votes to win the election. Henry Clay, who was eliminated from the election,
held a decisive position as the speaker of the House of Representatives. Clay was in a position to
throw the election to the candidate of his choice. Clay threw his support behind Adams since he had
led some of the strongest attacks against Jackson. Rather than the nation s presidency go to a man

Northerners supported tariffs because tariffs helped them compete with British factories. The South
s economy was based on farming. Southerners imported their manufactured goods. Tariffs made
imported goods more expensive for southern farmer which led to their opposition. Angry
Southerners called the tariff the Tariff of Abominations. The new tariff added fuel to the growing
sectional differences plaguing the young nation. When Andrew Jackson took office in 1829, he was
forced to respond to the growing conflict over tariffs. Vice President John C. Calhoun joined his
fellow southerners in protest when Congress passed the Tariff of Abominations. In response to the
tariff, Calhoun drafted the South Carolina Exposition and Protest. It urged states to nullify the
Tariff of Abominations and used it to argue that since the states created the national government
they decided when the national laws apply. Calhoun s theory was controversial, and it drew some
fierce challengers. Many of them were from the northern states that had benefited from increased
tariffs. These opponents believed that the American people, not the individual states, made up the
Union. Conflict between the supporters and the opponents of nullification deepened. The issue of
nullification was intensely debated in the Senate, between Robert Y. Hayne and Daniel Webster.
Hayne, senator from South Carolina, defended states rights. He argued that nullification gave states

Comparing The Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy
Succeeding Where Other Books Have Failed The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy is a science
fiction novel based in a universe where the Earth has been destroyed and the main focus is on
Arthur Dent, one of the only survivors of the destruction. Arthur escapes Earth with Ford Prefect,
an alien hitchhiker from the planet Betelgeuse who was stranded on Earth for fifteen years. This
premise sets up the book to be very humorous and absurd throughout. Despite these humorous and
absurd aspects, the book still manages to be very well written and loved by many. The Hitchhiker
s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams manages to parody the science fictiongenre through
absurd characters and writing style while still maintaining an interesting universe,... Show more

Adams is seen parodying other science fiction novels and their plots. This parodying of plot is
supported by, While traditional science fiction often suggests a meaning and a purpose for
human life and civilization, The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy and the novels that follow it
do the exact opposite: Instead of confirming that the phenomenal universe implies a meaning or
purpose, they affirm its meaningless (Woodford 136). More examples of this meaningless in the
novel would be the destruction of Earth and Arthur completely getting over its destruction. The
meaningless seen in the novel is also not entirely just there to be there. Adams does justify it by
using something in the story. The explanation for meaningless in the novel is supported by,
Most of the extreme examples of meaningless, in fact, do have a cause they are the product of the
infinite improbability drive of the starship Heart of Gold ( The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy
130). Adding the infinite improbability drive gave the readers an explanation for all of the
absurdity and meaningless in the novel. This makes the novel seem more important than if the
meaningless was just there to be there. Adams also sometimes takes away from the main plot of
the story to write about some other subject. Him doing this could also be considered another
form of meaningless or absurdity. An example from the novel focuses on earth and the culture,
The planet has or rather had a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were
unhappy for pretty much most of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but
most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which
is odd because on the whole it wasn t the small pieces of paper that were unhappy (Adams 1). This
sort of deviating from the plot to talk about something else adds a sense of randomness to the novel.
The statement could of also been summarized much shorter but

Wade) that a women had the right to seek legal abortion and that right was a fundamental right,
there were many debates on the validly of the ruling. In March of 2016, the Supreme Court
showed how divided the court is when it comes to abortion which they made legal back in 1973.
It is not so much if a woman has the right to an abortion as it5 is who pays or helps pay for it.
Texas put in place a series of stop measures on abortion by requiring very constricted rules for
abortion in that state. In Texas, as many as twenty legal abortion clinics were closed due to the
strict rules governing their clinics. The questions for the Supreme Court is if these rules are for the
health of the women and fetus or a way of stopping abortions altogether. The states cannot help pay
for abortions according to the President s Executive Order which is another issue. Again, the
Federal Government is controlling the lives of women by citing the Affordable Care Act or ACA
and court rulings. Health Insurance does not pay for abortions and the government supports the
health industry. September 30, 1976 the United States House of Representatives passed the Hype
Amendment. The amendment was presented by Henry Hyde, a republican from Illinois. Clearly
the Hyde Amendment was a victory for the pro life movement. This amendment has been attached
to appropriations bills prohibiting the federal government from funding abortions. The Hyde
Amendment is a rider because it has been attached to many legislative actions through the years
since 1993. Even President Clinton was successful in changing the wording of Hyde expanding

and are helping women receive safe and affordable abortions. There are laws have been passed for

Analysis of Frost s Poem, Mending Wall Essay
People keep an emotional distance between one another to prevent others from getting too close
to them. Robert Frost in the poem Mending Wall shows the reader an example of two different
kinds of people. One kind of person is open to the idea of friendship and is willing to make an
effort to try to dissolve any conflict, and try to get along with someone else anyway possible.
Then there is the other side which is against the idea of change, someone who is closed to the idea
of something new and against breaking down social barriers. Yet both sides seem to find their
common ground meeting at the wall.

Their dedication and commitment to the wall shines through when reading how persistent these
men are about keeping it well intact. However, even though both men take great care of the wall,
the welcome necessity for keeping the wall there and intact is not shared by both neighbors, but the
neighbor opposing the idea of the wall uses this time to socialize with his neighbor and tries to
convince him that this time spent repairing the wall is as foolish and unnecessary as having the
wall left there in the first place. You take notice that during this spring mending time the two
neighbors are not only completing a joint task, but they are also building some form of a
relationship. If this relationship was not willingly made between the two neighbors they would not
repeat their routine, time and time again.
As the poem goes on, it clearly shows that even though the two men are conversing and working
together, there is always some distance between them at all times. The poem even states that on a
day we meet to walk the line and set the wall between us once again. (14 15) It shows that even
though between both men there is a small link of friendship, that the one neighbor still wishes the
wall to be intact to be left alone so he can have his own personal space.
As the poem continues it begins

The Evolution Of The Corporation

The Evolution of the Corporation
In a capitalist society where the growth and power of corporations are ever evolving it is critical to
determine the effects and consequences this evolution brings upon the business world. The
Stockholder Theory maintains that managers should act merely as agents to the stockholder and
only serve their interests the maximization of profits (45). Milton Friedman s argument being, they
are the owners of the business, and hence they should be entitled to all profits (45). Although this

If law is the public s agency for translating morality into explicit social guidelines and practices it
clearly illustrates the lack of morality imposed upon society as a result of the Stockholders Theory.
According to John Stuart Mill most persons, and perhaps all, have a basic moral sensitivity to
the needs of their fellow human beings (17). This was so prominently displayed when Southeast
Asia was devastated by the recent Tsunami disaster that touched the hearts of both the public and
corporate society. Hundreds of millions of dollars were donated by the corporate sector to
provide those misfortunate people with aid. No doubt some of those corporations were displaying
true social responsibility while others were merely acting the part in order to simulate this
appearance. This, in my opinion, is the underlying difference in the two theories I am presently
critiquing. Clearly Freeman s Stakeholder theory is superior in this regard. With such massive
profits accumulated by large corporations those that decide to bear social responsibility can
significantly improve society as a whole.
Immanual Kant proposes that persons should be treated as ends and never purely as means to the
ends of others (22). Kantian ethics nicely distinguishes the difference between Friedman s

people across the globe. These technologies take many forms such as personal computers, smart
phones, the internet, web and mobile phone applications, digital assistants, and cloud computing. In
fact the list is growing constantly and new forms of these technologies are working their way into
every aspect of daily life. In some cases, such as can be seen in massive multiplayer online games
(see section 2.1.1 below), these technologies are even opening up new ways of interacting with each
other. Information technology at its basic level is technology that records, communicates,
synthesizes or organizes information. Information can be understood... Show more content on

As you go through this thought experiment you begin to see the complex trail of data that you
generate each and every day and how that same data might be collected and stored though the
use of information technologies. Here we can begin to see how information technology can
impact moral values. As this data gathering becomes more automated and ever present, we must
ask who is in control of this data, what is to be done with it, and who will insure its accuracy. For
instance, which bits of information should be made public, which held private, and which should
be allowed to become the property of third parties like corporations? Questions of the production,
access and control of information will be at the heart of moral challenges surrounding the use of
information technology. One might argue that this situation is no different from the moral issues
revolving around the production, access and control of any basic necessity of life. But there is
one major difference, if one party controls the access of some natural resource, then that by
necessity excludes others from using it. This is not necessarily so with digital information, it is
non exclusory, meaning we can all at least theoretically possess the same digital information
because copying it from one digital source to another does not require eliminating the previous
copy. Since there is no physical obstacle to the spread of

Hip Hop, A And Creative Aspect Of Music
Breaking through in the heart of the Bronx, Hip Hop was designed to empower and teach the
youth, while providing them an outlet for creative expression. Developed on five essential pillars,
all working towards: giving African Americans knowledge that they didn t have access to, inspiring
them to read and acquire true knowledge of self, and to understand the role that self has in America
in relation to the actual worth of self. Since the inception of Hip Hop, the genre has evolved through
the times while transcending new depths aligned with its original pillars.
An innovator in a sense, DJ Kool Herc founded Hip Hop by the early 70 s. MC s, DJ s,
breakdancing, graffiti and music encompass the five pillars of Hip Hop. Modern inversions
interpret these pillars in many different ways. Prevalent through all major cities, graffiti evolved
to the murals on the side of buildings, and the creative aspect of music videos. Artists have
visions interpreted in the way they decide to imagine their visuals. Breakdancing has become the
advance dance crazes that sweep the nations. People in Japan are hitting the Nae Nae because of
Hip Hop s mass globalization. MC s are the talk show host and commentators of award shows and
hosts of events and red carpet specials: media. Dispersion of Hip Hop through channels that connect
Blacks across different scopes happens through the media. Modern day DJ s introduce the new
music with sets that keep nightclubs jumping from dawn to dusk. Displaying the

Tadra Research Paper
What is TADRA? Why was TADRA produced? There are three steps of TADRA that specifically
help young drivers gain more experience behind the wheel. These steps are Instructional Permit,
Intermediate License, and A Full License.
TADRA stands for Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act, which is a licensed program
for young drivers. This act is directed towards the number one killer of our youth, car crashes. This
act allows young drivers to receive more experience behind the wheel in a safer and more organized
fashion. The act was endorsed on July 1, 1997 leading to a 44.5 % decline in young drivers under
the age of 24 getting into a wreck due to speeding in a period of 18 months. Back in 2000 a study
showed that drivers between the ages ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is considered a class C driver s license provided to an individual of 18 years and older. To
receive this license the driver cannot have any convictions during the past 12 months including a
DUI, drag racing, avoiding a police officer, reckless driving, hit and run, or any other violation that
puts four or more points on the driver s license. There is a ZERO tolerance for underage drinking
and driving and the driver s license will be suspended for 12 months on the first offence.
On March 6, 2016 I myself had an accident when leaving a concert. Luckily it wasn t bad and no
serious damage was done to myself, my cousin, or the other person involved. If I would have took
the advice from my instructor when taking my driver s test I might not have gotten into this
situation at all. The advice given to me was the Two Second Rule, which means that for every five
miles per hour a driver should stay at least one vehicle length behind the car in front
of them. This situation has really opened my eyes and I will never take the Two Second rule for
granted again, because next time I may not be as lucky. The situation was handled very smoothly
and professedly and I appreciate everyone who worked on my case and helped provide the TLC
program for young drivers like me to

Pros And Cons Of The F-35 Lighting
It s a bird, it s a plane, it s... it is the F 35 Lighting. This newly born fighter jet is having some
growing pains and causing the taxpayer s all kinds of headaches. With the United States trying
to be on the cutting edge of technology, the military though up of a plan that could modernize
the jet fighter, by creating an all in one type of plane called the F 35. According to a 2014 article
in The New York Times, Rough Ride for the F 35 America was going to show case its state of the
art war plane at the international air show, the single engine F 35 was a no show. A tough blow to
the America s Military, which under took the world s most expensive weapons project . This plane

The saying if it s not broke why fix it, it is the prime example of what the Congress is not doing.
If the congress would see that the military already has capable planes, they could see that
dropping that much money into the F 35 is not the best idea. The A 10 is getting all the pressure
from the development of the F 35 just because the Pentagon wants more of a multi role aircraft
that the F 35 in theory could do. The Air Force came out and said retiring its fleet of almost 300
Warthogs by 2019 to save an estimated $4.2 billion a year and free up maintainers for the F 35.
To free up maintainer for the F 35 if that doesn t say problem child than I don t know what is.
With all the money we have spent on the F 35, do we really need it or is it time to cut the jet from
the money milk good ol Uncle Sam is feed it? I believe so just because the F 35 is not reliable and
has to many problems that the engineers are trying to

  • 2. Merger Between Daimler And Chrysler The merger between Daimler and Chrysler was expected to be a success in the economy especially with the current trend and demand in the automotive sector. Daimler is considered one of the most successful and profitable automotive companies across the globe. Founded in 1893 as the Daimler Motor Syndicate Ltd, its growth and expansion in the automotive sector has been facilitated by the need to meet the interests and needs of its key stakeholders (Barnard, 1998). The vehicles that are manufactured by the company are of high standard and the quality is top notch. Most of its customers are concerned with the satisfaction level that they achieve when they purchase the motor vehicles. The implementation of the luxurious car segment meant that the trend in the economy has considerably changed and there was need for improving the brand image and the superiority of the products offered. According to Barnard (1998), Daimler s merger with Chrysler was undertaken due to the need to expand its operations and initiatives across the globe. Chrysler is considered one of the smallest automobiles sectors when it is considered with the three biggest U.S. automakers, which includes Ford and General Motors. Understanding the trend in the economy, the company implemented its operations in the North American market with the intention of tapping on the mass market that was available in the region. The two companies had distinct motives and objectives for undertaking merger. Daimler s objective ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Four Step Process Law, PART A Four Step Process (20 marks) Question (a) 10 marks The legal issue in question was the elements of agreement that are required for the formation of a legal contract. The elements of an agreement that are required for the formation of a legal contract is that it should consist of both offer and acceptance. This being said, there are principles that constitute an offer and acceptance. An offer consists of the element of promissory. This means that there must be an undertaking or promise to give or do something. This is shown in the Placer Development Ltd v Cth case, where the Commonwealth agreed to pay a subsidy to timber importers an amount of money or interest rate that is determined by the Commonwealth from time to time.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides, expires over a specific time frame depending on the conditions, it is able to be withdrawn prior to an acceptance made. Lastly, an offer lapses when a counter offer is made as well. The other element of agreement is acceptance. An acceptance must be made on the same term as the offer and can only made by the person who the offer is addressed to. Meanwhile, an acceptance must be made while the offer is still in existence and it must be made in an acceptable form which means that the acceptance must be made in the same manner of the offer was offered. Lastly, the acceptance is effective when communicated. When an acceptance is via post, it is effective when the letter of acceptance is posted. This is shown in the case of Henthorn v Fraser where Fraser offered Henthorn the selling of houses for 750 dollars and gave 14 days to accept the offer. The next day, Henthorn accepted the offer and posted a letter to Fraser. However, Fraser was offered a better price on selling of the houses before he received the letter and wished to withdraw it. The issue is that should the acceptance has already been made once the letter was posted. The court decided that the acceptance stands the moment it was posted (Henthorn v Fraser [1892] 2 Ch 27, cited in Lambiris 2012, 204). This is as well as the email. When an acceptance is via email, it is accepted based on when the email is sent by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Martin Luther King Jr. library was the only library I could think that held numerous, historical chronicles. Primarily, I strived to find a specific book called Why Vietnam Invaded Cambodia: Political Culture and the Causes of War by Stephen J. Morris. By quickly examining the book on the Internet, this book was perfect for my topic; the title of the book was even a giveaway. However, the library lost the novel; I looked everywhere on the shelf and came up with nothing. So I had to improvise to find similar books, I found two novels which would greatly satisfy my research topic. One was The Rise and Demise of Democratic Kampuchea by Craig... Reactions from the Cambodians fluctuated negatively; when the invasion was victorious for the Vietnamese, the Cambodians felt relieved about foreign influence. Also, they believed foreign control would be quite the benefit for the nation. However, the educated population migrated to Thailand because they did not want to more exposure to Socialism. Numerous countries felt threatened by the Vietnamese invasion of Cambodia; Thailand authorized for Khmer Rouge authorities to seek refuge in their nation. The United States was insecure about the situation as they believed Vietnam strived to spread Communism with Soviet Union s assistance through their alliance. In 1981, the U.S. Secretary of State, Alexander Haig, condemned Vietnam and the Soviet Union of using chemical weapons against Democratic Kampuchea; which violates the 1925 Geneva Accord. However, China expressed the most vexation; after Vietnam signed a treaty of cooperation with the new Cambodia and Laos, China began to invade Vietnam. Despite this, China suffered numerous losses and withdrawn the troops. Within Cambodia, there have been multiple attempts to overthrow the new government. Politicians, including Son Sann and Khieu Samphan, and King Sihanouk have planned many operations to establish domestic authority over Vietnamese control. In terms of the ... • 5. Graphically Representing Data And Distribution Tables That... Graphically Representing Data Within a School Setting Christopher M. Lightfoot Abstract This paper examines the ability to graphically display frequency distribution tables that are represented within a school setting. There are three types of data sets that are interpreted within two types of frequency distribution tables (see Table 1). The first type of data set that is mentioned is a discrete nominal data set that is graphically displayed as a bar chart (see Figure 1), which displays the reoccurrence of each category within the simple frequency table (see Table 2). The second data type referenced is a discrete ordinal data set that was analyzed through a simple frequency table. The simple frequency table allows for the conversion of the ordinal data into a pie chart (see Figure 2), which measures the percentages within a four point Likert Scale (see Table 3). The final data source is a continuous interval set, which was interpreted through a cumulative frequency table (see table 4). The cumulative frequency table is graphically represented in Figure 3 as a combination of a histogram (which measures the percentage of class intervals) and scatter points (to identify the cumulative percentage between all of the class intervals). Graphically Representing Data Within a School Setting The creation of frequency distribution tables allows for the conversion of the data within the set into a dramatic graphic representation. Chemotrophs are organisms that acquire energy an oxidation reduction reaction of organic or inorganic chemicals; this meaning the electron donors of that environment have become oxidized. Phototrophs are organisms that solely use light as the energy source to produce nutrients, such as the process of photosynthesis. 2)Describe purpose and steps of binary fission. Binary fission is the process in which a cell grows twice its normal size, and then the cell divides in half to produce two daughter cells. This process is carried out by unicellular organisms because it is their only way of reproduction. The cell begins this process by replicating the cell s DNA, and the duplicated chromosomes attach to the cytoplasmic membrane or microtubules. Once attached, these attachment sites push the chromosomes apart to expand the entire cell body. The cell now produces a new cytoplasmic membrane, and along the mid line of the cell a septum begins to form. Upon completion of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One of the major characters in the Bible was formerly a killer but was changed by, A dramatic roadside conversion that turned Saul into Paul and persecutor of Christians into one of their greatest missionaries. (PBS, 2017) God saw both Paul s past and future; and decided that his past was a perfect opportunity for a redemption story. God would use him for his glory to reach others and change the world forever. I. Overview of the Character. The conversion of Saul to Paul interests me because I believe Paul is a great example of God s forgiveness and grace. God took a man that formerly that attempted to tear his kingdom down and turned him into one of the greatest expanders of his kingdom. He is a perfect example of how God transforms lives for the better. Many individuals feel that they cannot be used by God because of their past, Paul shows the world that God can use anyone for his glory regardless of what sins one has committed in the past. Paul is a great example of God s appeal to humanity and his love for it. II. Their World. A. Political. Saul was born in Cilica in a town called Tarsus. Advantages And Disadvantages Of International Commercial... 5.1 Critical Analysis International commercial arbitration has evolved, primarily, against the background of two unifying international traditions: the private international legal tradition, directed at the harmonization of laws; and the public international law tradition, committed to reducing global barriers to trade. International Commercial arbitration is the most widely used tool for resolution of trade or commercial disputes. The effort should be made to tackle the problems which will benefit commercial transaction activities. Most of the domestic courts were very slow in dealing with Arbitration cases. Therefore, parties now resort to Arbitration in order to avoid lengthy and complex litigation procedure. The Study findings revealed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A practical solution to avoid this issue is to include an Immunity Waiver Clause in the arbitration agreement. States are generally not comfortable with this clause; however, this puts an obligation on the state to not use this as a defence during enforcement of awards. Once any State agrees to arbitration, it is an assumed principle that the State has waived its Sovereign Immunity. Under International Conventions like New York Convention, if the state enters into an agreement, it is treated as if the State has waived its Immunity and can be taken up as strong evidence against the State. The situation is difficult as national courts (dealing with enforcement of awards) refuse to build up special rules and regulations for the enforcement of arbitral awards and they are guided by the principles applicable in judicial proceedings . • 10. Hindu Temple Research Paper When I first pulled up to the Won Buddhist Temple, it was sort of what I had expected. Being that the original Buddha was a human, I did not expect an elaborate building, such as the Hindu temple. I did not have a clear picture in my mind about what the temple would look like, but I did picture a smaller and simpler looking building. One of the most pleasantly surprising aspects I noticed at the beginning of the visit was how those at the temple were of all different ages, races, and genders. At the beginning, I will admit that I was thinking about how much longer I had left and wondering how I was going to be able to sit there the whole time. Towards the middle of the mediation, I did begin to relax and let my mind wander, but I will be honest and say that the counting amount of time we had been sitting there was still in the back of my mind. When the bell rang to end the quiet time, I felt a sense of calm, but I think I was mostly relieved that it was over. I think that meditation definitely takes practice, and from this experience, it is something that I would consider giving another try. The cactus is in the phylum Tracheophyta and of the family Cactaceae, with three recognized subspecies. It resides in the states of Aguascalientes, Guanajuato, Jalisco, QuerГ©taro, Zacatecas, Coahuila, Oaxaca, Hidalgo, San Luis PotosГ, Puebla, and Mexico State. The crow s claw grows in mountain elevations of ten thousand feet, and blooms between the months of October and March. Goats are a great factor in dispersing viable seeds of the cactus. (IUCN) The body of the crow s claw cactus is barrel like, and averages approximately ten to fifteen inches in height. Fourteen to twenty three ribs and grey black areoles compose the body of the cactus, along with four large central spines. The cactus blooms yellow or pink purple flowers in late autumn or the early winter, and are 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter. (Faucon) A distinctive difference between crow s claw cactus and other plants is that cacti have stems which function as leaves. Because cacti do not have leaves, stems contain main photosynthetic organs, areoles, and water storage tissues. In addition, stems are coated with a cuticle, a waxy layer that prevents water loss. A possible hypothesis as to why cacti, specifically the ferocactus latispinus, have stems rather than leaves relates to the climate in which cacti grow; environments in which cacti grow in are relatively hot and dry, with little ... Although New Right politicians made admirable advances to dissemble New Deal economic policies, the movement as a whole counters conservativism and the ideologies that America was founded on. Gilder strayed from establishment ideology when he added a moral element to his position, citing monogamous heterosexual marriage as a requirement for upward mobility. Inset of Fig. 3B: Equivalent circuit applied to fit impedance measurements, where: Rs is the resistance of electrolyte solution; Rct is the charge transfer resistance, W is warburg impedance and CPE is constant phase element. 3.5.Electrocatalytic oxidation of nitrite on the modified electrode The electrocatalytic activity of the ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE toward nitrite was studied by recording cyclic voltammograms from the range of potential 0.3 to 1.1 V in the absence (a) and presence (d) of 100 ОјM nitrite, and compared with other different electrodes such as ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE and bare GCE. As can be seen from Fig. 4, there is no well defined peak on bare GCE, which may be due to the sluggish electron transfer process in GCE. At ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE, the weak peak appears at 0.96 V related to oxidation process of NO2в€’ to NO3в€’ according to the following reaction: NO2в€’ + H2O NO3в€’ + 2H+ + 2eв€’(8) In addition, no evidence of peaks was found at ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE in the absence of nitrite, while after adding 100 ВµM nitrite into the phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0), an obvious irreversible oxidation peak at about 0.82 V is observed (curve d), which is 140 mV negatively shifted compared with ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. Furthermore, the oxidation peak current on ОІ Ni(OH)2@CDs/GCE is larger than that on ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE. This indicated that the large effective area of electrode resulting from high conductivity and high surface area of CDs, as well as the synergistic effects of ОІ Ni(OH)2 and CDs improve the catalytic behavior toward the oxidation of nitrite.Fig. 4. cyclic voltammograms (CVs) of the bare GCE (b), ОІ Ni(OH)2/GCE (c), and ОІ Ni(OH)2/CDs/GCE (a, d) in the absence (a) and presence of 100 ОјM nitrite (b, c, d) recorded in 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0) at the scan rate of 50 mV sв€’1. Their ideology came from the idea that there were many who fought for, were imprisoned, and even died for my right to sit anywhere on a public bus. However, I consistently watched as my African American friends immediately flocked to the back of a bus. I used to mentally ask myself, Do they not know their history? ... Looking at what is commonly referred to as Generation Y might therefore be an insightful way to discuss how the recent epoch changes to the economic, social, political and technological context in which individual and society exist. Generation Y is a term used in the popular press, company research and some academic research. The research also found that women of Generation Y were interested in a variety of elements to their jobs, whereas men were mainly interested in salaries. Generation Y seems to value the quality of working life: they work to live and not live to work (Asthana, 2008; McCrindle and Hooper, 2008; Reynolds, 2008). Henry Clay, who was eliminated from the election, held a decisive position as the speaker of the House of Representatives. Clay was in a position to throw the election to the candidate of his choice. Northerners supported tariffs because tariffs helped them compete with British factories. The South s economy was based on farming. Southerners imported their manufactured goods. Tariffs made imported goods more expensive for southern farmer which led to their opposition. Angry Southerners called the tariff the Tariff of Abominations. The new tariff added fuel to the growing sectional differences plaguing the young nation. When Andrew Jackson took office in 1829, he was forced to respond to the growing conflict over tariffs. Vice President John C. Calhoun joined his fellow southerners in protest when Congress passed the Tariff of Abominations. In response to the tariff, Calhoun drafted the South Carolina Exposition and Protest. It urged states to nullify the Tariff of Abominations and used it to argue that since the states created the national government they decided when the national laws apply. Calhoun s theory was controversial, and it drew some fierce challengers. Many of them were from the northern states that had benefited from increased tariffs. These opponents believed that the American people, not the individual states, made up the Union. Conflict between the supporters and the opponents of nullification deepened. The issue of nullification was intensely debated in the Senate, between Robert Y. Hayne and Daniel Webster. Hayne, senator from South Carolina, defended states rights. Comparing The Hitchhiker s Guide To The Galaxy Succeeding Where Other Books Have Failed The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy is a science fiction novel based in a universe where the Earth has been destroyed and the main focus is on Arthur Dent, one of the only survivors of the destruction. Arthur escapes Earth with Ford Prefect, an alien hitchhiker from the planet Betelgeuse who was stranded on Earth for fifteen years. This premise sets up the book to be very humorous and absurd throughout. Despite these humorous and absurd aspects, the book still manages to be very well written and loved by many. The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams manages to parody the science fictiongenre through absurd characters and writing style while still maintaining an interesting universe,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Adams is seen parodying other science fiction novels and their plots. This parodying of plot is supported by, While traditional science fiction often suggests a meaning and a purpose for human life and civilization, The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy and the novels that follow it do the exact opposite: Instead of confirming that the phenomenal universe implies a meaning or purpose, they affirm its meaningless (Woodford 136). More examples of this meaningless in the novel would be the destruction of Earth and Arthur completely getting over its destruction. The meaningless seen in the novel is also not entirely just there to be there. Adams does justify it by using something in the story. The explanation for meaningless in the novel is supported by, Most of the extreme examples of meaningless, in fact, do have a cause they are the product of the infinite improbability drive of the starship Heart of Gold ( The Hitchhiker s Guide to the Galaxy 130). Adding the infinite improbability drive gave the readers an explanation for all of the absurdity and meaningless in the novel. This makes the novel seem more important than if the meaningless was just there to be there. Adams also sometimes takes away from the main plot of the story to write about some other subject. Him doing this could also be considered another form of meaningless or absurdity. An example from the novel focuses on earth and the culture, The planet has or rather had a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much most of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn t the small pieces of paper that were unhappy (Adams 1). This sort of deviating from the plot to talk about something else adds a sense of randomness to the novel. The statement could of also been summarized much shorter but ... In March of 2016, the Supreme Court showed how divided the court is when it comes to abortion which they made legal back in 1973. It is not so much if a woman has the right to an abortion as it5 is who pays or helps pay for it. Texas put in place a series of stop measures on abortion by requiring very constricted rules for abortion in that state. In Texas, as many as twenty legal abortion clinics were closed due to the strict rules governing their clinics. The questions for the Supreme Court is if these rules are for the health of the women and fetus or a way of stopping abortions altogether. The states cannot help pay for abortions according to the President s Executive Order which is another issue. Again, the Federal Government is controlling the lives of women by citing the Affordable Care Act or ACA and court rulings. Health Insurance does not pay for abortions and the government supports the health industry. September 30, 1976 the United States House of Representatives passed the Hype Amendment. The amendment was presented by Henry Hyde, a republican from Illinois. Clearly the Hyde Amendment was a victory for the pro life movement. This amendment has been attached to appropriations bills prohibiting the federal government from funding abortions. The Hyde Amendment is a rider because it has been attached to many legislative actions through the years since 1993. Even President Clinton was successful in changing the wording of Hyde expanding the list of ways that the federal government could use funds under Medicaid in some states helps low income women receive state help to pay for abortions. Robert Frost in the poem Mending Wall shows the reader an example of two different kinds of people. One kind of person is open to the idea of friendship and is willing to make an effort to try to dissolve any conflict, and try to get along with someone else anyway possible. Then there is the other side which is against the idea of change, someone who is closed to the idea of something new and against breaking down social barriers. You take notice that during this spring mending time the two neighbors are not only completing a joint task, but they are also building some form of a relationship. If this relationship was not willingly made between the two neighbors they would not repeat their routine, time and time again. As the poem goes on, it clearly shows that even though the two men are conversing and working together, there is always some distance between them at all times. The poem even states that on a day we meet to walk the line and set the wall between us once again. Milton Friedman s argument being, they are the owners of the business, and hence they should be entitled to all profits (45). If law is the public s agency for translating morality into explicit social guidelines and practices it clearly illustrates the lack of morality imposed upon society as a result of the Stockholders Theory. This was so prominently displayed when Southeast Asia was devastated by the recent Tsunami disaster that touched the hearts of both the public and corporate society. Hundreds of millions of dollars were donated by the corporate sector to provide those misfortunate people with aid. No doubt some of those corporations were displaying true social responsibility while others were merely acting the part in order to simulate this appearance. This, in my opinion, is the underlying difference in the two theories I am presently critiquing. Clearly Freeman s Stakeholder theory is superior in this regard. With such massive profits accumulated by large corporations those that decide to bear social responsibility can significantly improve society as a whole.
