New Learnings Of Supply Chain Management
Until the Council of Logistics Management modified the definition of logistics to specify it as a
subsection of supply chain management, many considered the two terms as one in the same. New
learnings in the arena of supply chain management demonstrate the supply chain s ability to support
organizational business strategies. A supply chain in its entirely encompasses a wide range of activities
from basic commodities, to selling finished goods to consumers, to recycling products (Harrison van
Hoek, 2011). This includes the process of planning and controlling procurement, transportation,
conversion, and distribution across the entire supply chain. Collaboration between partners such as
suppliers, third party logistics (3PL) providers, intermediaries, customers, etc., is inclusive in supply
chain management. Simply stated, supply chain management is the method in which business gets
done.
Most people do not realize that the products filling the shelves in every aisle of retail stores are the
result of supply chain management. Cumulative efforts of multiple organizations within a supply chain
enable customers to fill their shopping carts with various goods. Today, managing supply chain
activities in order to maximize customer value and gain competitive advantages in the marketplace is
common business practice. This process involves streamlining the supply side of businesses, which
requires an effort by suppliers to cultivate and implement the most efficient and

Readiness Audit For Gulliver Academy
Readiness Audit for Gulliver Academy
A curriculum management audit is an examination of a schools curriculum including the way it is
written and delivered to students (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in
education, n.d.). The auditing team will compare 5 standards to the schools curriculum (Phi delta
kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education, n.d.). A team of auditors will use
the 5 standards to evaluate the effectiveness of a curriculum. The auditing team is usually comprised
of administrators, lead teachers, and a curriculum specialist. The audit team will conduct site visits,
interviews, and use documents to determine if the curriculum was written correctly, taught properly,
and tested effectively (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education,
n.d.). After a curriculum audit is completed a list of findings is given to the person who ordered the
audit (B. Poston, personal communication, July 30, 2014). The school will then have to make
adjustments to the curriculum; this can include eliminating programs or practices completely,
adjusting them, or improving upon them (English, 2008). An audit team is usually put in place to
conduct an audit but this time only one person was used. Bret Ginsberg who is an administrative
assistant was chosen to use one of 5 curriculum audit standards against the 5th grade English
curriculum. Standard 2 was chosen for the audit. Standard 2 states: a school system

Tarmageddon Rhetorical Analysis Essay A good and successful article is an article that is logically
organized and does not disrupt the flow of thought and content that is provided in the piece of work as
well as a good writing style which keeps the reader engaged throughout their read. The author Andrew
Nikiforuk has created a nice and logical structure within his article. He starts by stating how
Europeans felt towards Canada before and continues by explaining what has changed their stance
towards Canada. He then leads on by describing oil and the specifics of the oil Canada is refining
while noting its problems along the way while recounting how Canada changed, explaining why those
changes transpired. Towards the end ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(PARAGRAPH 8, PAGE 212) Another example is where the author states, it takes 12 barrels of steam
to melt one barrel of Bitumen . He doesn t only include relevant details about the oil; he also provides
important details about the government officials who do not take this issue seriously. (PARAGRAPH
16, PAGE 212) He does not suddenly make a blunt claim that the Prime minister doesn t take notice of
the problem at hand. Instead he gives us important background information son of imperial oil
executive which is the reason behind the Prime minister s negligence towards the oil problem. All of
the facts and reasons that the author uses to support his article shows us that he isn t trying to benefit
from the power of emotion because he knows that emotions are unstable, he plans to use the power of
logic and reason which have much more stability and validity to rally support from his fellow readers.
In addition to the appealing to the audience s reason the author uses an informative writing style in
this article to inform his audience of the issue at hand and its consequences if it isn t handled
appropriately and increase the article s effectiveness consequentially. He doesn t narrate a story nor
does he state his personal opinion anywhere in his work. He solely relies on the information he has

Congress s Powers Of The Constitution
In order for something to be broken it must have been whole to begin with, let us first discuss what
Congress used to represent and how it used to function. Most everyone knows that Congress is
bicameral and consists of two parts: The House of Representatives and The Senate. Congress s powers
are outlined in Article I of the Constitution. The framers formed two parts of Congress so that they
would balance each other out: no one branch would become too powerful and the laws would be more
complex and well thought. The Constitution had initially intended for the legislative branch (Congress)
to be the most powerful branch of government and at the beginning of post constitution United States
history it was. Congress was given the powers to enact laws (Gateways to Democracy, pp. 388).The
Framers were purposeful in making sure that Congress represented each individual state by allowing
each state to have two senators and for the number of representatives to be dependent on the size of
each state, thereby balancing out the powers each state had in Congress (Gateways to Democracy, pp.
389). The framers made it an even level playing field: whoever was most qualified to be elected into
Congress was usually elected. In the present day, money speaks louder than quality when it comes to
elections. Fundraising and lobbying are a problem in politics in general, but it has corrupted Congress.
As Lawrence Lessig discusses in How to get our Democracy Back: There will be no Change until we

1. What Role Does The Queen Of Hearts Play Against Alice
1. What role does the Queen of Hearts play against Alice? The Queen of Hearts bears similar qualities
as a boss in a game; she is the final obstacle Alice encounters before waking up. The Queen is the
ruler over Wonderland and is described as a cold hearted, short tempered tyrant. When Alice in the last
chapters of the book, meets The Queen, she encounters true fear. It is stated that Alice knows logically
there is nothing to fear, since both the Queen and the royal prosecution are simply a stack of playing
cards, yet she does indeed feel frightened in The Queens presence. Carroll may have alluded to the
subconsciousness of humankind; feeling fear even though logic tells one not to. What the Queen also
bear similarities to, is a child. She

Women In The Progressive Era
The Gilded age was a time of economic growth as the United States rapidly jumped to the lead in
industrialization, ahead of Britain. The nation was expanding/increasing its economy into new areas,
specifically heavy industry factories, such as railroads and coal mining. The Progressive Era was a
period of widespread social activism and political reform all throughout the United States. The main
goals of the Progressive Movement were eliminating issues caused by industrialization, immigration,
urbanization, and corruption in government. Many individuals who supported the Progressive
Movement ideals of prohibiting alcoholic beverages, ultimately targeting the political power of high
end bosses. At the same time, women s suffrage was a theme that was highly influential during the
Progressive Era because they were defending their rights to vote. The main problem was the women
were not equally seen as smart, influential individuals who should play a part in making decisions for
the country. Two of the women who primarily helped/contributed to the passing of the 19th
amendment/birth control were Alice Paul and Margaret Sanger. Although these two women were
fighting for the same objectives (women s rights), they had different methods of completing and
accomplishing their goal.
Alice Paul was clearly characterized by her aggressive methods of reaching her goal. She grew up in a
Quaker family, and as she became more interested with politics, the more she became frustrated with

Leica Brand Positioning Case Study
Positioning
In this section, we will analyze how Leica is positioned in the market. What makes it different than
any other brand? Brand positioning is an important concept in the marketing strategy. It is at the heart
of every strategy in the market. It is how a company or a brand s products and offerings are designed
differently in a way that is placed uniquely in the mind of customers compared to competitors.
We ve been experiencing a period of a changed photographic business sector. There was a
considerable amount of questions after we opened our store in Dubai on whether we were turning into
a luxurious brand. All things considered, our stores were very reminiscent of adornments stores. At the
end, Leica stores are indicative of jewelry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many people cannot purchase a Leica in their early years. However, as their income rises by time,
Leica products turn out to be more obtainable. Asaad (2016) wanted to show us how individuals
actually save money just to get the Leica camera. Those people who see it really different than any
other brand. There was a Philippian guy who each week passes by the Leica office Dubai and just look
at the camera, try taking pictures with it, and gets motivated to save more money. He kept passing by
the store for about two years until he had the chance to actually purchase it. Leica is a great
investment. Investing in Leica is not a waste of money at all. On the other hand, you can sell it after
ten years, and receive more than quadruple the price, said Asaad (2016). In addition when people

Different Stages Of The Grieving Process
People handle death in many different ways. People s culture, age and gender all have an important
impact on how they will cope with the death of a loved one. It s important for nurses to understand all
aspects that play into how someone deals with death so they can better help provide the correct care
and support. This paper will explain what grief is and the different stages of the grieving process, how
children, being male or female, and diverse cultures cope with death, and how nurses can better
support people depending on these groups.
Bereavement is the time when people grief and mourn after a person has died. Grief is an emotion that
is often trigged by death (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Leming Dickinson (2016) stated:

As time goes on these emotions should slowly decrease between six months and two years (Grief,
Bereavement, and Coping With Loss, 2009). These emotions can also come in spurts, and a person
may not always experience them at one given time (Grief, Bereavement, and Coping With Loss,
2009). A lot of the time grief is described in a staging process. Many people are familiar with Kubler
Ross s five stages of the dying process, which comprises of: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and
acceptance (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Like Kubler Ross s five stages of the dying process, Robert
Kavanaugh also came up with different behaviors and feelings that are associated with the coping
process (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Kavanaugh s seven stages consist of: shock and denial,
disorganization, volatile reactions, guilt, loss and loneliness, relief, and reestablishment (Leming
Dickinson, 2016). Not all people with move through the stages in the same fashion (Leming
Dickinson, 2016). Grieving can also become complicated grief and that happens when the normal
emotions of grieving never go away and it disrupts the person from participating in their normal daily
life ((Smith Segal, n.d.)
). Many factors can increase the chance of complicated grief occurring such as:

using numerous theories of online presence and web design in order to understand what are the most
effective ways of creating an attractive website and building an online presence through which the
company can create more national awareness and have an image base for its external partners.
Different theories will be tested by comparing the need of promoting the company itself to promoting
the products, increase awareness or increase demand. These theories will be tested accordingly to the
companies priority linked to their strategy and long term goals to determine which theory needs to be
applied and which needs to be discarded.
There will be in depth research, carried out thought interviews of 10 professionals within the domain
of web design and web presence in order to gain insight on their experience and expert advice on the

A Critique of the Movie, The Birdcage (La Cage aux Folles)
A gay couple, living in a gay apartment, with a gay houseboy, above a gay nightclub, in a gay city . . .
and they have to straighten it all out for one evening. In 1996 La Cage aux Folles (a 1978 French play)
was remade by MGM into The Birdcage, a daringly flamboyant comedy that is in tune with the times
and redefines the idea of family values. It combines the talents of Robin Williams (Armand), Nathan
Lane (Albert), and Hank Azaria (Agador) with writer Elaine May and director Mike Nichols. The film
is brought to life by the superb uniqueness of each character and what they bring to the screen and add

With Albert every little thing that happens is tragic, resulting in a hysterical screech, whine, or
theatrical woe is me pout. He keeps himself on the verge of a nervous breakdown to make sure he s
got everyone s attention. Albert is so maternal he s practically a breast (Nichols) and has been the
sensitive and devoted mother to Armand s son Val (Dan Futtermann) for twenty years. These attributes
cause him to be a truly unique character to both this film and his previous endeavors. The true beauty
of Albert is his fearless presentation of himself. He is who he is and of that he is proud.
Williams is far more sedate in this film than how we re used to seeing him. He s not swooping around
the screen as he was in Aladdin, nor is he prancing around in a dress like in Mrs. Doubtfire. In The
Birdcage he plays wonderfully (and flawlessly) alongside Lane as Armand, the masculine half of the
couple and father to Val. He is far more subdued (though he does do an uproarious on stage dance
demonstration involving the moves of Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp, Michael Kidd, Madonna,
Madonna, Madonna . . . ) (Nichols) and down to Earth than Albert. Armand spends most of the movie
chasing after Albert and smoothing his ruffled feathers when his overly sensitive feelings have been
hurt. When Val s fiance s (Calista

My Life
I should have stopped him, I knew he was too young, his body; too weak, his brain; not smart enough
but I still let him go. His mother, Mrs. Robert s had made the mistake to trust me with her only child,
Cameron. I regret what happened to him, he was just an innocent five years old, full of energy and
curiosity that I used against him. I wish I could take it all back but I can t because that poor child is
already dead. Only because I let the evil inside me run free and chained the conscience to the back of
my brain. That one decision will haunt me for the rest of my life.
The same summer Cameron died, I was supposed to marry his uncle, Ben. A tall, handsome man with

seemed like he didn t care, But I did.
I still remember the day, Cameron died , it was a regular July morning in the campsite, the smell of
burning wood and birds chirping had woken Cameron and I earlier than usual, just in time to watch
the sunrise. The morning sky was pink like a sea of cotton candy, with the light of the sun coloring the
clouds above with a pinkish hue. As the sun slowly ascended, the sky in the west became a deep neon
blue as the light reached further out. By the time we finished breakfast, the pink in the sky had become
a pale yellow mixed with blue. It was a peaceful morning but the peace of it did not remain for too
long instead it was replaced by regret that has still yet to leave me.
Cameron like every five years old loved exploring, the animal noises coming from the woods
intrigued him. There was a waterfall nearby, I took him there. It was not the gentle sort of waterfall
you might see in a stately home garden, it was the kind where torrents of water are poured over rocks
hard enough to crack your skull and mash your brains on the way down, then swirl in a plunge pool
below deep enough to drown you if you survived the fall. From the bottom, it was awe inspiring, from
the top it was brutal and terrifying. Cameron wanted to jump into it but I didn t let him instead I
agreed to play hide and seek. He ran into the forest in order to hide. In

Tom Buchanan Quotes For Gatsby s Death
It was the last days of summer. The atmosphere began to change, leaves falling, and the sky the
perfect crisp blue like a never ending ocean. Gatsby decided it was the perfect day to take a dip in the
pool, since he hadn t used it all summer. But, that dream was unfortunately brought to a fatal end. Do
you know what it s like to be shot? Do you know what it s like to drown in your own pool of blood?
Your body sinking to the bottom as the water engulfs you. Your lungs now only filled with blood, and
only thing you can do is lie in the abyss of your death. This is Gatsby s story as he was killed in his
own home. You may ask, Who would do such a thing, killing a innocent man? And, on top of that to
kill him in his beautiful home? Well I have the answer for you ladies and gentleman. The person guilty
of this monstrous crime is Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan is brute, imperious, and just like his wife
Daisy he is a careless man; crushing and destroying lives in his path. As well, Tom is a cheater; let s
not forget he s having an affair with another woman: Myrtle wilson. Above all Tom Buchanan is a
killer. Today I will be presenting several pieces of evidences that Tom is at fault for the death of Mr.
Jay Gatsby. On the day before Mr. Gatsby s death, Tom and Gatsby along with Nick, Daisy, and
Jordan headed out to the city. When it was time to decide which car to take Tom came up with the idea
that Gatsby and him should switch cars. Tom in the yellow car Duesenberg model J

Scarlet Letter
Written in 1850, Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With
new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and a multitude of themes, The Scarlet
Letter remains today as an extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not
only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement, but it was also the beginning
of the first wave of feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes.
Many may believe that because of this introduction to feminism, the novel directly pertains to the
ideology of it. Hester Prynne, protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, shows similar qualities of a feminist,
such as strength and independence. Although these traits are similar to that of feminist, Hester
encompasses a strict form of maternal instinct, which distinguishes her drive for action from the
feminist movement entirely.
The strength portrayed in Hester Prynne, a well known adulteress in this New World society, has no
direct relationship to feminism as we view it today. Hawthorne s representation of Hester s strength is
simply a personal trait, not an idea used to strive for equality among women. As Hester progresses
through her hardships, the meaning of the scarlet letter embroidered on her bosom shifts from a
negative connotation to a positive one, in fact many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its
original signification. They said that it meant Abel (Hawthorne

Film Analysis Of The Birds
Alfred Hitchcock s 1963 thriller, The Birds, is known as an apocalyptic masterpiece. Advertising
campaigns screamed, The Birds is Coming to entice the people into watching the movie. The reason
for birds all of species flocking together to kill and to cause chaos still goes unknown today. Tippi
Hedren and Rod Taylor star in this disastrous horror film that throws the viewer for a loop at the end
of all the slaughtering and disorder in a small ordinary town in California. Through choosing a
specific setting and dynamic characterization, Alfred Hitchcock shows that nature cannot be controlled
and can lead to your own demise.
This movie is centered in Bodega Bay; however, it begins in San Francisco at a bird shop on a Friday.

that everyone meets Mitch in San Francisco. Melanie goes down to the dock to board her boat. She
turns off the engine as she gets close to the Brenner house and sneaks in while Mitch is outside. The
lovebird and a note to Cathy is left in the living room. The camera shows Melanie crouched down in
the boat as Mitch goes into the house. He is then shown running back outside looking through
binoculars searching for the person who left the gift. Mitch sees Melanie, begins waving, and jumps
into his truck to meet her back at the dock. Melanie is almost at the dock when a gull deliberately
swoops down and pecks her on the head. This first attacks sets off a chain reaction that progresses and
worsens through the rest of the movie.
The setting, Bodega Bay, California, is a small city north of San Francisco, where mostly everyone
knows each other. In 1963, the town was somewhat remote which made for a perfect reason to use.
Hitchcock knew that it would take a while for the word to spread that birds were attacking the
residents adding to the horror. Being that the town is a beach town, it gave an open sky view and flat

Reflection About Fun Home
Fun Home is a Modern musical based on the graphic novel of the same name. Until this class I was
not familiar with this show. I had heard about it in passing but had never heard any of the music, did
not know the plot line, and I did not know the origins. When I heard that it had won a Tony, I knew it
had to be good but I was still a little skeptical since I did not know much about it. However, once I
saw it I can say that I was not disappointed. It had some great lessons that most of us can take away
even if we do not agree with the context of the lessons. For the most part, the actors did a phenomenal
job, and there were some insane vocals. The lighting and stage design were great. All of this was
topped off with some great music. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She nailed that role. One of the parts that hit me hardest was when she was telling college age Alison
to not come back home again because she did not want her to waist her life like she had. What made it
so powerful for me was how the actress took that pause right after she said don t come back. It made
me think that the mother was mad at Alison because of her being lesbian, but then she finished the
thought and the true message came through. It was just incredible how much weight can be put into
one pause. The only person I was not a huge fan of was the actor who played Roy. To start with he
came on as four different characters over the course of the show. While I know that is difficult to do it
is by no means impossible, and he seemed to struggle with it. I think the biggest issue that he was
having was that all his characters seemed very immature and almost childish. He did not seem to be
able to switch very easily from being an adult to being a high schooler so all his characters seemed to
sit somewhere in the middle. This just made the show feel off at some points which made me as an
audience member feel kind of strange and almost uncomfortable. Other than that, I thought the
performance was very well done. Another aspect of the show that I really liked was the music. Not all
music is created equally, and just because this show is a musical does not mean that the music is that
great. However, this show delivered on that front with flying colors. Every

Cruelty In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
In William Golding s The Lord of the Flies, Jack and others use their acts of cruelty towards the other
boys to show a sense of power and role on the island higher than everyone else s. In the book, Jack
and his choir are obsessed and driven to find and kill a pig. While killing the pig they chant, Kill the
pig! Cut its throat! Kill the pig! Spill her blood! . These words are evidently an act of cruelty because
they could have simply killed the pig quietly and civilly. However, by chanting and frolicing about,
they were given the power they had desired through cruelty. After successfully killing a quantity of
pigs, the author states, The Compulsion to track down and kill was swallowing him up , meaning that

A Comparison of John Steinbeck s novel Of Mice and Men and the 1939 Film Version of the Novel
Looking at the novel Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck there is the clear comparison that this is a
print text, while the 1939 film version of the novel by Milestone is a visual text. There are many
things that need to be taken into consideration when analysing a visual text, these being the use of
camera angle, sound, lighting, editing and the mise en scène, whereas when looking at the print text
the use of description, dialogue, characterisation and imagery. The three scenes which are most

Candy looks helplessly saying it s hurt him after Carlson suggests shooting him because the ol dog jus
suffers hisself all the time . This suggests, just as clearly as the film, that the dog is important to him
and he doesn t want to lose him. This is also suggested when Candy says that he don t mind takin care
of him . Throughout the scene there is also the focus on the newspaper article as well as the main story
of Candys dog. This is a good technique used to build up tension because the audience wants to know
what s going to happen to the dog. Throughout this scene in the film there is still a clear focus on
Candy although the story of the newspaper article is going on around him. This causes an emotional
build up, along with the other characters that are placed in the camera shots who appear not to care
about Candy. The emotional build up is created in the novel with the description of Carlson who
continued to look down at the old dog as Candy watched him uneasily , this builds up tension between
the two characters even more so as the other characters present are unaware of this non verbal

Should We Love Spartacus
Some people would argue that this new World referred to above looks suspiciously a lot like the old
one, if you look closely enough. As California s post makes clear it is impossible to discuss Spartacus
without bringing politics into it. Those who criticize it seem to be objecting not just to the
choreography but to its subject matter and its putative political outlook. Any implications about the
views or tastes of someone just because they happen to enjoy a work of art (even if accurate and
therefore depressing) are highly problematic though. It would be interesting to know, but should it
really matter to us whether Putin loves Spartacus? Do all people who like a work of art , a person, a
nation, or anything else like it (or him/her) for the same reasons? Would Spartacus love Putin or Hitler

Barrio Boy Short Story
Barrio Boy, New Directions, and Ready For Marcos What drives people to undertake missions? For
example, Ernesto wanted to learn english, go to school, and not give up so Ernesto came to America to
go to school, learn english, and not give up. Annie Johnson did not give up and Annie made her own
business and without this business Annie would not have money and would not be able to handle her
childrens. Monica had more responsibilities to do because Monica wanted a little brother. Individuals
are driven to undertake missions because for example one of the motivation of the first story was to
learn english and go to school and be successful, another motivation was to make money to support a
family, and the last motivation was that someone wanted a little brother. The first story I chose out of
all the three stories that I chose was Barrio Boy by Ernesto Galarza. This story relates to my thesis
statement because Ernesto wanted to learn english and go to school so he came to America from
Mexico with his mother. The first thing that Ernesto did to success was that he emigrated to America
from Mexico with his mother. Then, he went to school in America because he wanted to learn english.

Online Dating
Online dating is a which allows individuals, couples and groups to make contact and communicate
with each other over the Internet, usually with the objective of developing a personal, romantic, or
sexual relationship. Match making occurs over the Internet using computers or cellphones.
In order to use an online dating service, people start by creating a profile with basic information about
themselves such as gender, age, location, and interests, and at least one photo. Most online dating
services allow people to browse or search through a database of member profiles, although a few, such
as Chemistry.com and eHarmony, only allow users to view profiles of matches who have already been

Wilma Rudolph became a very influential sprinter after overcoming many obstacles. Wilma was born

Adnan Syed Jay Wilds
There is definitely an abundance of inaccuracy in stories and time lines, leading to many questions and
theories of what truly happened on the 13th of January, 1999. On that January day Hae Min Lee, a
senior at Woodlawn High School, was supposedly murdered by Adnan Syed. This murder case has
many suspects and witnesses, but the star witness was Jay Wilds. Jay s testimony was crucial for the
state to bring Adnan Syed to trial. Although the state used Jay s testimony, that doesn t mean it was
truthful or correctly used in a court of law. Jay s testimonies, stories, and statements in fact have many
contradictions and changes. The difference in the stories Jay gives are going lead many to questions to
why the court used his story to put Adnan Syed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Adnan comes to Jay s house to pick him up and lend him his car, while he goes back to school. After
this Jay uses the car to go over to Jennifer s(friend of Jay s) house. This is where the first conflict in
stories takes place. Jenn says she got home before Jay got to her house, while Jay says he got home
before she did. Jay says he got there before her because he wanted to hang with Mark, who is Jenn s
brother. Another thing conflicting their testimonies is whether Jay left Jenn s house or stayed there
most of the afternoon. Jenn says that Jay never left till the afternoon, while Jay says he left multiple
times. There is one thing that Jenn and Jay agree on which is Jay left around 3:30pm to 3:40pm.
Although they both agree on this, Jenn says she remembers Jay getting two phone calls from someone
around that time too. The problem with that statement is that the calls could not have been from Adnan
or to Adnan s phone because of the AT T call logs. The call log shows that a call only at 3:15pm and
4:30pm occurred, therefore Jay could not have received a call on Adnan s cell at 4:30pm. During all
this time Adnan states he was on the school campus till after track practice which would be after

Carl Menger s Principles Of Economics
Carl Menger has been given credit to the modern Austrian Economic model. He wrote Principles of
Economics in 1871 (Snowdon and Vane 474). What separates Austrian Economics from other schools
of thought is the emphasis put individuality. The individual is the driving force of the Austrian school
of thought. Because of this, Austrian Economics is very subjective. The needs of one individual differ
from those of another individual. Put simply, people will want to better their lives. Manoj Singh said
that One more extra dollar in the hands of a billionaire would hardly make any difference, although
the same dollar would be invaluable in the hands of a pauper (Singh). There is an incentive for people
to better themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an economy with no growth, the Austrians believe that the current level of savings is just enough to
offset capital depreciation. Also, in a no growth economy the consumable output (products that
business produce) is constant. This is represented in the first two periods of the graph. If savings are in
excess of capital depreciation, the economy grows. Period 3 shows the decrease in consumable output
when consumer preferences change in favor of savings. The assumption is that because businesses are
not producing as many products, they have freed up resources. The Austrians would say they need to
invest these freed up resources into their company in order to eventually increase their level of
consumable outputs at an increased rate in conjunction with the future increase in consumption
brought about by the current increase in savings. This is depicted in period 4 and continues throughout
the end of the graph.
These three graphs are the model that Austrians use to determine output and interest rates in the
economy. The graph on the top left represents the stages of production by firms with stages of
production on the x axis and consumable output (goods) on the y axis. In the economy some products
require fewer stages of production than others. At each stage of production there are more goods
produced, but only up to the hypotenuse. If the economy

Pre Surgery Procedure
When deciding if a patient is a good candidate for surgery, a number of considerations need to be
taken. Can the patient safely undergo the surgery? Will the benefits of this surgery outweigh the
negatives? For instance, if a patient is elderly, is it worth the financial, emotional, and physical cost to
undergo the surgery? Dentists must be aware of what potentially can occur and what precautions must
be taken to minimize risk. (Petranker, Nikoyan, Ogle, 2012, p. 163). In all cases, it is crucial to have a
detailed medical history of the patient. Several pre surgery precautions need to be followed in order to
minimize risk during surgery. The patient undergoing surgery should have an empty stomach. There is

Occasionally tissue forceps are used to insure the tissue is closed during suturing. A needle is used to
penetrate overlying soft tissue with the addition of sutures. The needles most often used in this type of
surgery are curved. The curvature of the instrument allows the operator to cleanly sure up the area
without intrusion of the underlying bone. The needle point should be a cutting type so the needle s
journey through the mucosa is smooth. A needle driver holds the curved needle and insures proper
angulation and penetration of tissue. Once the suture is through, ends of the suture are used to create a
proper surgeon s knot. The tied suture should be snug against the tissue, not too tight and not too
loose, so that proper healing is accentuated. Once tied, the suture ends are cut with a suture scissor.
Sutures may either be interrupted or continuous. The simple interrupted suture is the most universal
technique used for wound closure. Both absorbable and non absorbable sutures are routinely used in
oral surgery. Once the wound is fully closed, the patient s surgery is complete and the healing process
can begin. It is important that proper pain control medication is provided post operatively so the
patient is more comfortable during this time. The prescriber should be aware of the addictive
properties in opioids and prescribe the correct type of analgesic accordingly to the

The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
The Impact of Melting Ice Caps
There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As the
overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and snow is
lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected
into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight
gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers, and snow
is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet.
The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to
Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space.
However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One
of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the
amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and ice
caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to change in volume as a
response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely
fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground,
2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and

Human Interaction with Nature in the Works of Aldo...
Human Interaction with Nature in the Works of Aldo Leopold and Elizabeth Bishop
The poet Elizabeth Bishop and the naturalist Aldo Leopold share a keen power of observation, a
beautifully detailed manner of writing, a love for the beauty of nature, and an interest in how people
interact with the natural world. Like Leopold, Bishop examines human interactions with nature on
both the personal and the ecological level. On the individual level, a hunter s contact with the animal
he or she is hunting changes his or her attitude toward nature in both Bishop s poem The Fish and
Leopold s essay Thinking Like a Mountain. On the larger level, both Bishop in her poem The
Mountain and Leopold throughout the Sand County Almanac envision the ... Show more content on

For both narrators, this lack of emotional connection changes when they notice some striking detail
about the wolf or fish which awakens them to the symbolic value of the animal and transforms their
way of relating to nature. Leopold sees a fierce green fire dying (130) in the eyes of the wolf and
senses that his neat equation of fewer wolves equals more deer is inadequate, and that wolves have an
importance unknown to him. He goes on to develop a new conservation ethic, one that values wolves
as well as deer and protects wild animals for their own sake and that of the ecosystem, not just for the
pleasure of hunters. Bishop s speaker notices five fishhooks dangling from the fish s mouth and
realizes how many times the fish has battled for its life and won. Its fighting spirit earns her respect
and causes her to release the fish.
The particular symbolic value that each writer finds in the wild animal is evident in his or her
beautifully poetic descriptions of the animal. Each admires the animal for its undaunted courage in the
face of a harsh existence. Bishop repeatedly uses words and images which personify the fish as a wise
old warrior: the fish is battered and venerable

Changing Color In Sea Horses
How have sea horses adapted better to survive in their habitat? Sea horses use camouflage, get food by
the currents of the water, and use bone plates to protect them instead of scales. They are often hard to

The way sea horse s camouflage is by changing colors. Sea horses often do this because they are lousy

In August all medical structures were ordered closed for several weeks due to the infection rate in
health care workers. Nationwide, curfews and community quarantines have been implemented. More
globally, there have been 26 travel associated cases and 10 deaths. Widespread confusion and an
element of fear has distracted the developed world from prioritizing critical support to the West
African region.
On August 8th 2014, following the Emergency Committee meeting convened under the International
Health Regulations (IHR) to discuss the outbreak for the first time, we declared that the conditions for
a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) had been met. This was a full five
months after the international community was alerted to the outbreak with a report of 86 cases and a
case fatality ratio of 68.5% in Guinea. Repeated warnings and requests for assistance from the
governments and the handful of international NGO s who are handling the bulk of the cases have not

been infected by the virus.

In On Being Crazy , DuBois defines crazy as behavior based on illogical perceptions. Both the
narrator and wayfarer agree that the wayfarer walking in the mud and becoming muddy rather than
walk along side a dirty nigger who is clean is crazy. DuBois illustrates that society prefers to cut off its
nose to spite its face instead of fixing the nose. Twain builds much of the Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn in the same manner. His commentary regarding the social injustice is buried within the story s

No one then, with exception of a few, understood the psychological impact the word had on the
recipient.
Twain s use of nigger illustrates that the nigger was not only a means of identification, but a
description of what one was. It stripped away the humanity and individualism of a person leaving a
shell, which was considered sub human. When a nigger wasn t a nigger, whites were astonished but
they didn t separate the nigger from the man. Huck, along with every other white person of the time
believed blacks couldn t be as intelligent as whites. ...Well, he was right; he was most always right; he
had an uncommon level head for a nigger quot; (Norton Anthology 266).
DuBois makes the same case in On Being Crazy . Niggers is dirty, he said. So is mud, said I.
Moreover I added, I am not as dirty as you at least not yet. But you re a nigger ain t you? he asked
(Dubois 2). Although the narrator isn t dirty or ignorant, the white wayfarer simply can t comprehend
that a black man could be anything other than a nigger. In fact, it is the white man who using the
standards of the day embodies the personification of a nigger.
Huck is truly a product of his time. Although he is our hero, he too is guilty of engaging in racial
misunderstanding, as evidenced when he tries to protect Jim. quot; When we was ready to shove off

A Brief Note On Mexico s Agriculture Sector
Mexico s agriculture sector is renown in the international community for a myriad of goods that it
produces. From the cultivation of crops, sustainable soils, land usage and irrigation systems, its rich
land has helped Mexico s economy prosper into the 21st century. This feat is largely due to the
country s production and exportation of maize, one of their largest crops. However, in recent time
Mexico s agriculture sector has been affected by the vices of climate change and greenhouse emission
gases amongst other natural phenomenons. For the purpose of this paper the change of climatic
patterns in areas of temperature, precipitation and intensity will be discussed, as well as its correlation
to climate change and current weather trends, which have created unsustainable environments for
maize to grow.
Historically, Mexico s agriculture sector has followed a traditional style of crop production focused on
small scale farming. According to Luc Dendooven of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies at
the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, traditional agriculture refer to the widely used
cultivation techniques that consist of low N fertilizer application rates, no or little irrigation, removal
of crop residue for animal feed or fuel, and little or no use of herbicides and pesticides (237). The
Mexican agricultural sector adapted this concept early on by utilizing basic natural resources such as
soil enrichment and rainfall. Such practice has been supported by author

Essay on An Unspoiled Place in Annie Dillard s In the Jungle
We are living in a colorful world. There are many different people live with different cultures. But,
what makes so many differences in our world? According to the story of In the Jungle and my
personal experiences, our lives are affected by living condition, natural resources and social
environment around us. In the story of In the Jungle, Author Annie Dillard goes to the Napo River,
which is the heart of the Ecuadorian Jungle and it is also the most unspoiled place. She describes the
natural living style of the people who live there. As she tells us is the story that The cold woke them;

And the people who live nearby river will diet themselves on fish. So those crops and fishes become
the staple for them. Besides that, human civilization s progress could not be without natural resource.
People will fight for natural resource because of that and that is also the reason that why there are so
many wars in the world. Now, oil is the one of most important natural resource in the world. That
made those people who live in Middle East very rich and there are many wars happened in there also.
Another main effecting of people s life is from the social environment. Annie describes the people
who live in the Ecuadorian Jungle are fill with happiness. That is showed in the text that As the
children became excited by their own singing, they left their log benches and swarmed around the
nuns, hopping, smiling at us, everyone smiling, the nuns faces bursting in their cowls, and the clear

ample natural resource make their graceful and placid society. However, what if they are living in a
dangerous and wicked society, what kinds of people would they be? The social environment could
decide what kind of people you would be. There is an old Chinese allegory about how important the
social environment is for a person. Mencius is a very marvelous person in China. He was very clever

Denver Pacific Railroad Research Paper
In the 1800 s, Colorado was pretty much a gold mine for settlers traveling west. The city of Denver
was bypassed by the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) through Cheyenne, Wyoming from Omaha,
Nebraska, 100 miles to the north. David Halliday Moffat, one of Denver s most important financiers
and industrialists, had a vision. Having built several rail lines for a few railroads such as the Denver
Pacific Railway (DP) and the Denver, South Park, and Pacific Railway (DSP P), he wanted to connect
Denver and Salt Lake City, Utah by rail. However, David had a problem: the Rocky Mountains were
in the way. By 1887, Moffat was elected president of the Denver Rio Grande (D RG), which built a
route west from Pueblo to Grand Junction in western Colorado via Tennessee Pass. Beginning in
1902, David Moffat and his associates established the Denver, Northwestern Pacific Railway (DNW

Analysis Of David Bezmozgis s An Animal And The Memory
What does it mean to be Jewish? For many, that identification of Judaism is closely aligned with more
than traditional upbringings or religious and cultural observances. The collective meaning behind
being a Jewish person is rooted in memory, and the Holocaust itself is often the crucial link to a shared
Jewish past. It is the central part of that history and identity, connected to a larger narrative of pain,
trauma or even shame. The short story by David Bezmozgis An Animal to the Memory illustrates such
a situation. By making the argument that The Holocaust is completely rooted in the communal Jewish
identity. And while keeping the memory of The Holocaust alive is important, Bezmozgis also makes

At school, I kept to myself, glowered in the hallways, and, with the right kind of provocation, punched
people in the face. Mark is expected to feel a certain way about being Jewish, but that label means
something different for him then it means for his parents. Such as when his family is leaving his
grandparents in Vienna at the beginning of the story, his grandfather refuses to go chasing them
around the globe. His reasoning being
Grandfather: There, I ll never have to hear dirty Jew,
Mark s father/ uncle: So Instead you ll hear dirty Russian. Grandfather: Maybe, but you re going to

The Holocaust becomes the center of this. Whether it be at his Hebrew school, where Jewish history

contemporary Jewish generation. While still being connected to the past. This is a struggle for Mark,
who does not even identify himself as Jewish for most of the story, He is continuously challenged with
where to place himself in this new world, as a second generation immigrant to Toronto. For Mark,
being a young Latvian Jew is not easy.

considering many people view it as murder. I do not see it as murder, abortion is the right of the
person carrying the baby. Some people get abortions because of rape, some get it because they aren t
financially able to care for the baby, some people get them because they are too young for a baby. I
think all of those reasons are pretty good reasons to have an abortion. Many people fighting saying
that pro life and that you can put the baby up for adoption fail to face the reality of how many children
are already in foster care and aren t able to find homes. I am sure foster care children are wishing their
mothers had an abortion. They hate their lives. Some foster children even end up not mentally right or
are put into worse situations when the foster parents are

How Is the Child’s Exploration and Orientation in His...
How is the child s exploration and orientation in his physical environment complimented by the
Montessori materials and presentation? Dr. Maria Montessori s goal of education is to develop a
global vision within the children. Montessori calls the path to this perspective Cosmic Education ,
which develops in children a sense of gratitude for the universe and their lives within it. The concept
of cosmic education presents a comprehensive whole picture of the world a world in which the child
sees himself as being a part. Montessori had much to say about world peace. She always says about the
importance of developing an understanding of the human problem and restricting human society. She

Cognitive Dissonance Theory Of Smoking
Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and
soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but
horizontally instead of changing my habits I only continued them. I merely changed the way I looked
at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the public
looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the dissonance
began to weigh more. Things only progressively got worst when I was medically diagnosed with mild
obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonance made me begin to change my behavior.
Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our behaviors and beliefs but it
can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors.
Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he used
the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that something
has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin et al., 2015,
p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It is when we act in
ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the matter the greater the
stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one feels when one finds
themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public approves of (p.200). An
extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the disapproval the community
might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we naturally want to avoid it by
either change our behaviors or our beliefs.
Cognitive dissonance can have either positive effects or negative ones on a person s being. In the
Glatz, Stattin, Kerr study they considered the health and behavior of parents who find their youths
drinking. Generally underage drinking is looked down upon in the community and even in the eyes of
the law but studies have shown that parents reduce control and support in response to youths drinking
(Glatz, Stattin, Kerr, 2012, p. 629). Glatz et al

La Vita Nuova
The promise of a new life at a wedding is an optimistic rebirth; the loss of a lover is an obligatory
uprooting. Allegra Goodman s La Vita Nuova records the changed life of a freshly dumped bride to
be. As she endures her altered life, Amanda occupies herself by babysitting her student Nathaniel.
Amanda uses irony, dark humor, and juxtaposition as a coping mechanism; instead of facing the new
life she has to live, she uses sardonic reflection to elongate her mourning period.
When Amanda digs up memories of her ex fiancé, her timing and choice of anecdote help her wallow
in rejection for longer. Reflecting on her breakup, she says We had too many differences... For
example, I loved him and he didn t love me (Goodman). She proves this with the things she
remembers her fiancé saying to her. There are two basic types of ex fiance quotes: insults with witty
retorts from Amanda and compliments contrasted with Amanda s current cynical views. As an
example of the former, while spending time with Nathaniel, Amanda thinks of her fiance s cutting
words: It s hard to be with you, her fiancé had said. I feel like I m suffocating. Open a window,
Amanda had said (Goodman). Instead of living in the moment and enjoying Nathaniel s company, she
insists on dwelling on the past.
Amanda s dark humor applied to her current life makes a mockery of her future. Her ... Show more

loss of her job. After peeling back an outer layer of literary prose, Amanda is able to reveal to the
reader that Dante s La Vita Nuova details the perfect masochistic love. She then proceeds to revel in
its darkness, responding to a compliment with You re not supposed to say that... You re supposed to

The Laramie Project Analysis
The room fell silent as the story of Mathew Shepard was told in the OU Meacham Auditorium.
Throughout The Laramie Project I could hear the gasps and tears of my fellow students. This was not
the first time I watched The Laramie Project, but the film still had a profound effect on me.
The interviews with Laramie citizens seemed to describe different perceptions of hate crimes
committed against the LGBT across the globe; not just in Laramie, Wyoming. People tend to think
that bad things happen to other people. The citizens of Laramie could not come to terms with the fact
that such a heinous crime took place in their town. To make things worse the crime took place at the
hands of two of their citizens, Aaron McKinny and Russell Henderson. People who commit hate
crimes do not look any different than anyone else. Society stereotype what a criminal ... Show more

Even if it was true that Matt made a sexual advance on Aaron or Russell it did not give them the right
to murder him. Some members of the community thought that Matt s actions excused Aaron s and
Russell s. They had no proof that Matt made sexual advances. They made the assumption that because
Matt was gay that his main focus was his sexuality. That being gay made him a sexual deviant.
Unfortunately Matt was not alive to defend himself.
Even after Aaron and Russell were found guilty of murder the citizens had a difficult time with the
possibility of them receiving the death penalty. They felt that they should get concurrent life
sentences. The families wanted the opportunity to have them back in their lives at some point, but
Aaron and Russell took that option away from Matt s family. Different members of the community
talked about going to school with Aaron and Russell and growing up with them. I understand their
emotional attachment to them, but as a society we cannot place more value one person s life over

Measures Companies Need to Take in Order to Prevent...
Computer system failure can be classified to unintentional threats, not to mention intentional threat, IT
attacks, targeted attacks, and botnets. It occurs as the result of poor manufacturing, defective
materials, and outdated or poorly maintained networks. Unintentional malfunctions can also happen
for other reasons, ranging from lack of experience to inadequate testing.
There s way to prevent this unintentional threat from happening. The most common of all prevention
is, create backup, test your backup, keep your virus protection up to date, use firewall, purchase and
install UPS power supply, use data encryption on your wireless network.
Creating backup, it s not just a simple backup. Depending on how large your data is, it could be a ...

In the event of a system failure the data would be irretrievable without the encryption keys.
Disaster recovery options are included with larger base packages. Usually these options are only
available for windows based systems. To use these options a set of boot disk are created. If a system
failed an administrator or operator could boot a new system with the disk that was created. The disk
would then walk an administrator or operator through reloading the operating system, installing client
software, and recovering from the last full backup. Off Site Storage is a process where data s were
protected on tapes. If a catastrophic event destroys the corporate faculties the data will go with it.
Storing tape in someone s home is not a good idea either. If a tape is needed, the administrator has to
try to locate that person. While on site tapes should be stored in a secure and fireproof vault. There are
several inexpensive types available on the market today. For off site storage the author recommends
that a reputable records storage company be contacted. These companies offer scheduled pick ups and
drop off. They will also guarantee that tapes will be delivered to the company faculties when they are
called for within a pre determined amount of time.
Test your backup. Restoring backup data to a test system helps validate that your backups are working
as expected. It should be done once a month and frequently. If you don t have a test system, practice

Why Zoos Should Not Be Used
By the basic definition, something is rare when it either does not occur often or it is not found in large
numbers which adds to its interest and value. The rarity of an object can be argued by different groups
of people. This causes debates about what should be considered rare and to what degree of rarity an
object is. If said object is classified as rare, what should be done with that object or idea and how, if at
all, should it be preserved. In this essay, I am going to question the idea of rarity and show why rarity
should not be used as a way to regulate environments. One view of rarity comes from the realists; they
believe ... an object is unique within a purview: given a certain boundary, there exists no other object
like it. This idea makes defining something as rare only specific to the boundary set. So, if something
is rare in America it may not be as rare, if rare at all, in Europe. This could have complications when
considering different aspects of nature and how to define those aspects as rare. For example, to
Americans the Niagara Falls is a rare phenomenon and should be maintained due to their rarity,
however in other parts of the world there are falls just as good, if not better than the Niagara Falls. An
example of this would be the Victoria Falls in Africa; this is also a rare phenomenon but is it equally
as rare as the Niagara Falls? When trying to regulate environments, rarity always comes into play as it
pertains to preservation. The rarer something

My Last Duchess By Robert Browning And The Rape Of The Lock
My Last Duchess by Robert Browning and The Rape of the lock by Alexander Pope are two poems
that convey a theme of love and objectification towards women. For instance, both poems are similar
in their use imagery and metaphors to grasp their audience attention. For example, in My last duchess
the author shows the wife in the poem as an item controlled by her husband and uses his love for her
as an excuse to abuse his power. Her life is ruled by him and she would have to deal with his insane
jealousy because his obsessiveness is dominating his reality of his relationship . In this poem the male
role has many characteristics one of them being paranoid and not helping him reflect on reality by him
owning shrine of items that belonged to all his earlier wife s. His late wife is shown as a piece of
imagery where she is kept on a wall trapped not able to leave his sight or be allowed interact with
others. (Browning,1 2) In The Rape of the Lock the poem starts off with Belinda, the main character, in
a dream sent to her by her guardian Sylph. The dream sends a message to Belinda that she must be
careful with all men in her life once she has received the message she awakens to a love letter at her
sight and forgets the dream in its entirety. Throughout the course of the poem Belinda s Sylphs are
required to protect her chastity and help her contain her purity.. The man in her life is using her as an
item and not as a human being.Pope encourages these characteristics

Fuzzy Thinking Analysis
In IT Foundations, I was assigned by Mrs. Baumaster to watch the video Fuzzy Thinking. The speaker
in this video is an Astrophysicist by the name of Neil deGrasse Tyson. In the video, Fuzzy Thinking he
talked about many things like what was wrong with the misspellings of the word Cat and about his
choice between hiring two workers. The video did not seem very interesting at first but as I watched it,
the video got more and more interesting. Tyson is a very good presenter in the video because he made
it interesting and fun to listen to him. All in all, this video was a great way to get his message out on
how people think. I answered 5 questions that Mrs. Baumaster asked about the video Fuzzy Thinking.
Fuzzy Thinking is when people are not thinking straight. I know this is correct because right after he
said fuzzy thinking he told the audience the definition of it. The misspelling of the word cat is a very
complex question. One misspelling is spelled as XQT and the other is spelled as KAT but they are
considered equally as wrong even though one sounds like cat and the other does not. Tyson s is an
astrophysicist which is similar to being an astronomer. Astrophysicists study the physics of space. I
think this is a very cool job and it would also be very interesting as well as fun. The two job
candidates were very different from one another. The first job candidate had knowledge of the
building because they studied architecture beforehand. They knew the spire is 155ft

  • 2. New Learnings Of Supply Chain Management Until the Council of Logistics Management modified the definition of logistics to specify it as a subsection of supply chain management, many considered the two terms as one in the same. New learnings in the arena of supply chain management demonstrate the supply chain s ability to support organizational business strategies. A supply chain in its entirely encompasses a wide range of activities from basic commodities, to selling finished goods to consumers, to recycling products (Harrison van Hoek, 2011). This includes the process of planning and controlling procurement, transportation, conversion, and distribution across the entire supply chain. Collaboration between partners such as suppliers, third party logistics (3PL) providers, intermediaries, customers, etc., is inclusive in supply chain management. Simply stated, supply chain management is the method in which business gets done. Most people do not realize that the products filling the shelves in every aisle of retail stores are the result of supply chain management. Cumulative efforts of multiple organizations within a supply chain enable customers to fill their shopping carts with various goods. Today, managing supply chain activities in order to maximize customer value and gain competitive advantages in the marketplace is common business practice. This process involves streamlining the supply side of businesses, which requires an effort by suppliers to cultivate and implement the most efficient and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Readiness Audit For Gulliver Academy Readiness Audit for Gulliver Academy A curriculum management audit is an examination of a schools curriculum including the way it is written and delivered to students (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education, n.d.). The auditing team will compare 5 standards to the schools curriculum (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education, n.d.). A team of auditors will use the 5 standards to evaluate the effectiveness of a curriculum. The auditing team is usually comprised of administrators, lead teachers, and a curriculum specialist. The audit team will conduct site visits, interviews, and use documents to determine if the curriculum was written correctly, taught properly, and tested effectively (Phi delta kappa international: Growing and connecting leaders in education, n.d.). After a curriculum audit is completed a list of findings is given to the person who ordered the audit (B. Poston, personal communication, July 30, 2014). The school will then have to make adjustments to the curriculum; this can include eliminating programs or practices completely, adjusting them, or improving upon them (English, 2008). An audit team is usually put in place to conduct an audit but this time only one person was used. Bret Ginsberg who is an administrative assistant was chosen to use one of 5 curriculum audit standards against the 5th grade English curriculum. Standard 2 was chosen for the audit. Standard 2 states: a school system ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Petroleum and Oil Essay Oct.29,2013 Tarmageddon Rhetorical Analysis Essay A good and successful article is an article that is logically organized and does not disrupt the flow of thought and content that is provided in the piece of work as well as a good writing style which keeps the reader engaged throughout their read. The author Andrew Nikiforuk has created a nice and logical structure within his article. He starts by stating how Europeans felt towards Canada before and continues by explaining what has changed their stance towards Canada. He then leads on by describing oil and the specifics of the oil Canada is refining while noting its problems along the way while recounting how Canada changed, explaining why those changes transpired. (PARAGRAPH 16, PAGE 212) He does not suddenly make a blunt claim that the Prime minister doesn t take notice of the problem at hand. Instead he gives us important background information son of imperial oil executive which is the reason behind the Prime minister s negligence towards the oil problem. All of the facts and reasons that the author uses to support his article shows us that he isn t trying to benefit from the power of emotion because he knows that emotions are unstable, he plans to use the power of logic and reason which have much more stability and validity to rally support from his fellow readers. In addition to the appealing to the audience s reason the author uses an informative writing style in this article to inform his audience of the issue at hand and its consequences if it isn t handled appropriately and increase the article s effectiveness consequentially. He doesn t narrate a story nor does he state his personal opinion anywhere in his work. He solely relies on the information he has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Congress s Powers Of The Constitution In order for something to be broken it must have been whole to begin with, let us first discuss what Congress used to represent and how it used to function. Most everyone knows that Congress is bicameral and consists of two parts: The House of Representatives and The Senate. Congress s powers are outlined in Article I of the Constitution. The framers formed two parts of Congress so that they would balance each other out: no one branch would become too powerful and the laws would be more complex and well thought. The Constitution had initially intended for the legislative branch (Congress) to be the most powerful branch of government and at the beginning of post constitution United States history it was. Congress was given the powers to enact laws (Gateways to Democracy, pp. 388).The Framers were purposeful in making sure that Congress represented each individual state by allowing each state to have two senators and for the number of representatives to be dependent on the size of each state, thereby balancing out the powers each state had in Congress (Gateways to Democracy, pp. 389). The framers made it an even level playing field: whoever was most qualified to be elected into Congress was usually elected. In the present day, money speaks louder than quality when it comes to elections. Fundraising and lobbying are a problem in politics in general, but it has corrupted Congress. As Lawrence Lessig discusses in How to get our Democracy Back: There will be no Change until we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. 1. What Role Does The Queen Of Hearts Play Against Alice 1. What role does the Queen of Hearts play against Alice? The Queen of Hearts bears similar qualities as a boss in a game; she is the final obstacle Alice encounters before waking up. The Queen is the ruler over Wonderland and is described as a cold hearted, short tempered tyrant. When Alice in the last chapters of the book, meets The Queen, she encounters true fear. It is stated that Alice knows logically there is nothing to fear, since both the Queen and the royal prosecution are simply a stack of playing cards, yet she does indeed feel frightened in The Queens presence. Carroll may have alluded to the subconsciousness of humankind; feeling fear even though logic tells one not to. What the Queen also bear similarities to, is a child. She ... • 7. Women In The Progressive Era The Gilded age was a time of economic growth as the United States rapidly jumped to the lead in industrialization, ahead of Britain. The nation was expanding/increasing its economy into new areas, specifically heavy industry factories, such as railroads and coal mining. The Progressive Era was a period of widespread social activism and political reform all throughout the United States. The main goals of the Progressive Movement were eliminating issues caused by industrialization, immigration, urbanization, and corruption in government. Many individuals who supported the Progressive Movement ideals of prohibiting alcoholic beverages, ultimately targeting the political power of high end bosses. At the same time, women s suffrage was a theme that was highly influential during the Progressive Era because they were defending their rights to vote. The main problem was the women were not equally seen as smart, influential individuals who should play a part in making decisions for the country. Two of the women who primarily helped/contributed to the passing of the 19th amendment/birth control were Alice Paul and Margaret Sanger. Although these two women were fighting for the same objectives (women s rights), they had different methods of completing and accomplishing their goal. Alice Paul was clearly characterized by her aggressive methods of reaching her goal. • 8. Leica Brand Positioning Case Study Positioning In this section, we will analyze how Leica is positioned in the market. What makes it different than any other brand? Brand positioning is an important concept in the marketing strategy. It is at the heart of every strategy in the market. It is how a company or a brand s products and offerings are designed differently in a way that is placed uniquely in the mind of customers compared to competitors. We ve been experiencing a period of a changed photographic business sector. People s culture, age and gender all have an important impact on how they will cope with the death of a loved one. It s important for nurses to understand all aspects that play into how someone deals with death so they can better help provide the correct care and support. This paper will explain what grief is and the different stages of the grieving process, how children, being male or female, and diverse cultures cope with death, and how nurses can better support people depending on these groups. These emotions can also come in spurts, and a person may not always experience them at one given time (Grief, Bereavement, and Coping With Loss, 2009). A lot of the time grief is described in a staging process. Many people are familiar with Kubler Ross s five stages of the dying process, which comprises of: denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Like Kubler Ross s five stages of the dying process, Robert Kavanaugh also came up with different behaviors and feelings that are associated with the coping process (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Kavanaugh s seven stages consist of: shock and denial, disorganization, volatile reactions, guilt, loss and loneliness, relief, and reestablishment (Leming Dickinson, 2016). Not all people with move through the stages in the same fashion (Leming Dickinson, 2016). A Critique of the Movie, The Birdcage (La Cage aux Folles) A gay couple, living in a gay apartment, with a gay houseboy, above a gay nightclub, in a gay city . . . and they have to straighten it all out for one evening. In 1996 La Cage aux Folles (a 1978 French play) was remade by MGM into The Birdcage, a daringly flamboyant comedy that is in tune with the times and redefines the idea of family values. It combines the talents of Robin Williams (Armand), Nathan Lane (Albert), and Hank Azaria (Agador) with writer Elaine May and director Mike Nichols. The film is brought to life by the superb uniqueness of each character and what they bring to the screen and add to the plot. This film sheds a new light on non traditional but ... He keeps himself on the verge of a nervous breakdown to make sure he s got everyone s attention. Albert is so maternal he s practically a breast (Nichols) and has been the sensitive and devoted mother to Armand s son Val (Dan Futtermann) for twenty years. These attributes cause him to be a truly unique character to both this film and his previous endeavors. The true beauty of Albert is his fearless presentation of himself. He is who he is and of that he is proud. Williams is far more sedate in this film than how we re used to seeing him. He s not swooping around the screen as he was in Aladdin, nor is he prancing around in a dress like in Mrs. Doubtfire. In The Birdcage he plays wonderfully (and flawlessly) alongside Lane as Armand, the masculine half of the couple and father to Val. He is far more subdued (though he does do an uproarious on stage dance demonstration involving the moves of Martha Graham, Twyla Tharp, Michael Kidd, Madonna, Madonna, Madonna . . . ) (Nichols) and down to Earth than Albert. I regret what happened to him, he was just an innocent five years old, full of energy and curiosity that I used against him. I still remember the day, Cameron died , it was a regular July morning in the campsite, the smell of burning wood and birds chirping had woken Cameron and I earlier than usual, just in time to watch the sunrise. The morning sky was pink like a sea of cotton candy, with the light of the sun coloring the clouds above with a pinkish hue. As the sun slowly ascended, the sky in the west became a deep neon blue as the light reached further out. By the time we finished breakfast, the pink in the sky had become a pale yellow mixed with blue. It was a peaceful morning but the peace of it did not remain for too long instead it was replaced by regret that has still yet to leave me. Cameron like every five years old loved exploring, the animal noises coming from the woods intrigued him. There was a waterfall nearby, I took him there. It was not the gentle sort of waterfall you might see in a stately home garden, it was the kind where torrents of water are poured over rocks hard enough to crack your skull and mash your brains on the way down, then swirl in a plunge pool below deep enough to drown you if you survived the fall. Gatsby decided it was the perfect day to take a dip in the pool, since he hadn t used it all summer. But, that dream was unfortunately brought to a fatal end. Do you know what it s like to be shot? Do you know what it s like to drown in your own pool of blood? Your body sinking to the bottom as the water engulfs you. Your lungs now only filled with blood, and only thing you can do is lie in the abyss of your death. This is Gatsby s story as he was killed in his own home. You may ask, Who would do such a thing, killing a innocent man? And, on top of that to kill him in his beautiful home? Well I have the answer for you ladies and gentleman. The person guilty of this monstrous crime is Tom Buchanan. Tom Buchanan is brute, imperious, and just like his wife Daisy he is a careless man; crushing and destroying lives in his path. As well, Tom is a cheater; let s not forget he s having an affair with another woman: Myrtle wilson. Above all Tom Buchanan is a killer. Today I will be presenting several pieces of evidences that Tom is at fault for the death of Mr. Jay Gatsby. • 16. Scarlet Letter Written in 1850, Nathaniel Hawthorne s, The Scarlet Letter stood as a very progressive book. With new ideas about women, main characters stories intertwined, and a multitude of themes, The Scarlet Letter remains today as an extremely popular novel about 17th century Boston, Massachusetts. Not only was the 19th century a time for the abolition of slavery movement, but it was also the beginning of the first wave of feminism, the advocacy of women s rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes. Many may believe that because of this introduction to feminism, the novel directly pertains to the ideology of it. Hester Prynne, protagonist of The Scarlet Letter, shows similar qualities of a feminist, such as strength and independence. Although these traits are similar to that of feminist, Hester encompasses a strict form of maternal instinct, which distinguishes her drive for action from the feminist movement entirely. The strength portrayed in Hester Prynne, a well known adulteress in this New World society, has no direct relationship to feminism as we view it today. Hawthorne s representation of Hester s strength is simply a personal trait, not an idea used to strive for equality among women. As Hester progresses through her hardships, the meaning of the scarlet letter embroidered on her bosom shifts from a negative connotation to a positive one, in fact many people refused to interpret the scarlet A by its original signification. They said that it meant Abel (Hawthorne ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tippi Hedren and Rod Taylor star in this disastrous horror film that throws the viewer for a loop at the end of all the slaughtering and disorder in a small ordinary town in California. Through choosing a specific setting and dynamic characterization, Alfred Hitchcock shows that nature cannot be controlled and can lead to your own demise. She turns off the engine as she gets close to the Brenner house and sneaks in while Mitch is outside. The lovebird and a note to Cathy is left in the living room. The camera shows Melanie crouched down in the boat as Mitch goes into the house. He is then shown running back outside looking through binoculars searching for the person who left the gift. I had heard about it in passing but had never heard any of the music, did not know the plot line, and I did not know the origins. When I heard that it had won a Tony, I knew it had to be good but I was still a little skeptical since I did not know much about it. However, once I saw it I can say that I was not disappointed. It had some great lessons that most of us can take away even if we do not agree with the context of the lessons. For the most part, the actors did a phenomenal job, and there were some insane vocals. One of the parts that hit me hardest was when she was telling college age Alison to not come back home again because she did not want her to waist her life like she had. What made it so powerful for me was how the actress took that pause right after she said don t come back. It made me think that the mother was mad at Alison because of her being lesbian, but then she finished the thought and the true message came through. It was just incredible how much weight can be put into one pause. The only person I was not a huge fan of was the actor who played Roy. To start with he came on as four different characters over the course of the show. While I know that is difficult to do it is by no means impossible, and he seemed to struggle with it. I think the biggest issue that he was having was that all his characters seemed very immature and almost childish. He did not seem to be able to switch very easily from being an adult to being a high schooler so all his characters seemed to sit somewhere in the middle. This just made the show feel off at some points which made me as an audience member feel kind of strange and almost uncomfortable. Other than that, I thought the performance was very well done. Another aspect of the show that I really liked was the music. Not all music is created equally, and just because this show is a musical does not mean that the music is that great. In the book, Jack and his choir are obsessed and driven to find and kill a pig. While killing the pig they chant, Kill the pig! Cut its throat! Kill the pig! Spill her blood! . These words are evidently an act of cruelty because they could have simply killed the pig quietly and civilly. There are many things that need to be taken into consideration when analysing a visual text, these being the use of camera angle, sound, lighting, editing and the mise en scène, whereas when looking at the print text the use of description, dialogue, characterisation and imagery. This is a good technique used to build up tension because the audience wants to know what s going to happen to the dog. Throughout this scene in the film there is still a clear focus on Candy although the story of the newspaper article is going on around him. As California s post makes clear it is impossible to discuss Spartacus without bringing politics into it. Those who criticize it seem to be objecting not just to the choreography but to its subject matter and its putative political outlook. Any implications about the views or tastes of someone just because they happen to enjoy a work of art (even if accurate and therefore depressing) are highly problematic though. It would be interesting to know, but should it really matter to us whether Putin loves Spartacus? Do all people who like a work of art , a person, a nation, or anything else like it (or him/her) for the same reasons? Would Spartacus love Putin or Hitler or Spartacus? Because of this, Austrian Economics is very subjective. The needs of one individual differ from those of another individual. Put simply, people will want to better their lives. In an economy with no growth, the Austrians believe that the current level of savings is just enough to offset capital depreciation. Also, in a no growth economy the consumable output (products that business produce) is constant. This is represented in the first two periods of the graph. If savings are in excess of capital depreciation, the economy grows. Period 3 shows the decrease in consumable output when consumer preferences change in favor of savings. The assumption is that because businesses are not producing as many products, they have freed up resources. The Austrians would say they need to invest these freed up resources into their company in order to eventually increase their level of consumable outputs at an increased rate in conjunction with the future increase in consumption brought about by the current increase in savings. This is depicted in period 4 and continues throughout the end of the graph. These three graphs are the model that Austrians use to determine output and interest rates in the economy. • 28. The Impact of Melting Ice Caps The Impact of Melting Ice Caps There is a large amount research demonstrating the impact of global warming on our planet. As the overall temperature of the Earth increases, ice and snow masses are melting. As more ice and snow is lost, the ocean s sea levels are rising. Additionally with less ice and snow, less sun light is reflected into space and instead it is absorbed by the planet. The continual absorption of the heat in sunlight gradually warms the planet along with other factors. Therefore, the loss of ice caps, glaciers, and snow is furthering the increase in the temperature of the planet. The polar ice caps play an enormous role in regulating the Earth s temperature. According to Montgomery (2008), polar ice reflects close to 90 percent of rays from the sun back into space. However, our dark oceans only bounce back around 10 percent of solar radiation (Calvin, 2008). One of the most important properties of that both ice and snow share is a very high albedo. Albedo is the amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or a surface (Cousineau, 2011). As glaciers and ice caps melt due to a process called thermal expansion, the tendency of matter to change in volume as a response to a change in temperature (Archer, 2007), our ocean s sea levels are rising at an extremely fast rate. Worldwide our sea levels have risen 4 8 inches throughout the 20th century (Wunderground, 2013). With the loss of ice caps and the gain of more water in our oceans less and ... Leopold sees a fierce green fire dying (130) in the eyes of the wolf and senses that his neat equation of fewer wolves equals more deer is inadequate, and that wolves have an importance unknown to him. He goes on to develop a new conservation ethic, one that values wolves as well as deer and protects wild animals for their own sake and that of the ecosystem, not just for the pleasure of hunters. Bishop s speaker notices five fishhooks dangling from the fish s mouth and realizes how many times the fish has battled for its life and won. Its fighting spirit earns her respect and causes her to release the fish. The particular symbolic value that each writer finds in the wild animal is evident in his or her beautifully poetic descriptions of the animal. Each admires the animal for its undaunted courage in the face of a harsh existence. For the purpose of this paper the change of climatic patterns in areas of temperature, precipitation and intensity will be discussed, as well as its correlation to climate change and current weather trends, which have created unsustainable environments for maize to grow. Historically, Mexico s agriculture sector has followed a traditional style of crop production focused on small scale farming. According to Luc Dendooven of the Center for Research and Advanced Studies at the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico, traditional agriculture refer to the widely used cultivation techniques that consist of low N fertilizer application rates, no or little irrigation, removal of crop residue for animal feed or fuel, and little or no use of herbicides and pesticides (237). The Mexican agricultural sector adapted this concept early on by utilizing basic natural resources such as soil enrichment and rainfall. Such practice has been supported by author ... But, what makes so many differences in our world? According to the story of In the Jungle and my personal experiences, our lives are affected by living condition, natural resources and social environment around us. In the story of In the Jungle, Author Annie Dillard goes to the Napo River, which is the heart of the Ecuadorian Jungle and it is also the most unspoiled place. Besides that, human civilization s progress could not be without natural resource. People will fight for natural resource because of that and that is also the reason that why there are so many wars in the world. Now, oil is the one of most important natural resource in the world. That made those people who live in Middle East very rich and there are many wars happened in there also. Another main effecting of people s life is from the social environment. Annie describes the people who live in the Ecuadorian Jungle are fill with happiness. That is showed in the text that As the children became excited by their own singing, they left their log benches and swarmed around the nuns, hopping, smiling at us, everyone smiling, the nuns faces bursting in their cowls, and the clear voiced children still singing, and the palm leafed roofing stirred. Unspoiled natural surroundings and ample natural resource make their graceful and placid society. However, what if they are living in a dangerous and wicked society, what kinds of people would they be? The social environment could decide what kind of people you would be. The city of Denver was bypassed by the Union Pacific Railroad (UP) through Cheyenne, Wyoming from Omaha, Nebraska, 100 miles to the north. David Halliday Moffat, one of Denver s most important financiers and industrialists, had a vision. Having built several rail lines for a few railroads such as the Denver Pacific Railway (DP) and the Denver, South Park, and Pacific Railway (DSP P), he wanted to connect Denver and Salt Lake City, Utah by rail. However, David had a problem: the Rocky Mountains were in the way. By 1887, Moffat was elected president of the Denver Rio Grande (D RG), which built a route west from Pueblo to Grand Junction in western Colorado via Tennessee Pass. Beginning in 1902, David Moffat and his associates established the Denver, Northwestern Pacific Railway (DNW P) to address the issue of Denver having been bypassed by both the UP in Cheyenne and the D RG in Pueblo. ... • 39. Analysis Of David Bezmozgis s An Animal And The Memory What does it mean to be Jewish? For many, that identification of Judaism is closely aligned with more than traditional upbringings or religious and cultural observances. The collective meaning behind being a Jewish person is rooted in memory, and the Holocaust itself is often the crucial link to a shared Jewish past. It is the central part of that history and identity, connected to a larger narrative of pain, trauma or even shame. The short story by David Bezmozgis An Animal to the Memory illustrates such a situation. By making the argument that The Holocaust is completely rooted in the communal Jewish identity. It is understandable that it would be a topic of concern considering many people view it as murder. I do not see it as murder, abortion is the right of the person carrying the baby. Some people get abortions because of rape, some get it because they aren t financially able to care for the baby, some people get them because they are too young for a baby. • 42. Cognitive Dissonance Theory Of Smoking Growing up I was never one for exercising let only eating healthy. Bad habits don t die easily and soon enough as I got older they took their toll on my body. As grew not only vertically but horizontally instead of changing my habits I only continued them. I merely changed the way I looked at the problem by embracing the love for my naturally curves instead. Despite not only the public looking down on hefty women but with the further disapproval of my family that the dissonance began to weigh more. Things only progressively got worst when I was medically diagnosed with mild obesity. It was only then that the cognitive dissonance made me begin to change my behavior. Cognitive dissonance theory explains the contradictions we have with our behaviors and beliefs but it can also be used to get us to have positive behaviors. Cognitive dissonance theory was created by Leon Festinger and to better explain his theory he used the topic of smoking. He showed how the contradiction is so clear and uncomfortable that something has to give either the use of cigarettes of the belief that smoking will [harm] (Griffin et al., 2015, p.201). Cognitive dissonance in a nutshell is a contradiction that causes us stress. It is when we act in ways that go against what we believe and the strong presence we have on the matter the greater the stress we have. Festinger (2015) describe it the distressing mental state one feels when one finds themselves doing things that don t fit with what we believe or what the public approves of (p.200). An extreme example of this is the high one gets from taking drugs but the disapproval the community might have for it. With dissonance creating a stressful mental state we naturally want to avoid it by either change our behaviors or our beliefs. Cognitive dissonance can have either positive effects or negative ones on a person s being. In the Glatz, Stattin, Kerr study they considered the health and behavior of parents who find their youths drinking. Generally underage drinking is looked down upon in the community and even in the eyes of the law but studies have shown that parents reduce control and support in response to youths drinking (Glatz, Stattin, Kerr, 2012, p. 629). Allegra Goodman s La Vita Nuova records the changed life of a freshly dumped bride to be. As she endures her altered life, Amanda occupies herself by babysitting her student Nathaniel. Amanda uses irony, dark humor, and juxtaposition as a coping mechanism; instead of facing the new life she has to live, she uses sardonic reflection to elongate her mourning period. When Amanda digs up memories of her ex fiancé, her timing and choice of anecdote help her wallow in rejection for longer. Reflecting on her breakup, she says We had too many differences... • 47. Why Zoos Should Not Be Used By the basic definition, something is rare when it either does not occur often or it is not found in large numbers which adds to its interest and value. The rarity of an object can be argued by different groups of people. This causes debates about what should be considered rare and to what degree of rarity an object is. If said object is classified as rare, what should be done with that object or idea and how, if at all, should it be preserved. In this essay, I am going to question the idea of rarity and show why rarity should not be used as a way to regulate environments. One view of rarity comes from the realists; they believe ... an object is unique within a purview: given a certain boundary, there exists no other object like it. This idea makes defining something as rare only specific to the boundary set. So, if something is rare in America it may not be as rare, if rare at all, in Europe. This could have complications when considering different aspects of nature and how to define those aspects as rare. For example, to Americans the Niagara Falls is a rare phenomenon and should be maintained due to their rarity, however in other parts of the world there are falls just as good, if not better than the Niagara Falls. An example of this would be the Victoria Falls in Africa; this is also a rare phenomenon but is it equally as rare as the Niagara Falls? When trying to regulate environments, rarity always comes into play as it pertains to preservation. The rarer something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
