The Procedural Matters, Roles Of A Paralegal, And Overall...
Introduction: On Monday, October 23rd, I attended a full day of Small claims court at 7756
Hurontario St, Brampton, ON L6W 4T1. In this observational summary, I will discuss my opinions
on three specific cases, the procedural matters, roles of a paralegal, and overall impressions of the
Small Claims Court.
Areas of Laws, and Types of Disputes: The types of disputes held on Monday consisted of, breach
of contracts, unpaid loans, and various civil matters. One of the first cases heard was, Lovas v. Peel
Regional Police. Lovas was a self represent plaintiff, and he was suing the Peel police station based
on an inaccurate police report filed in 2011. I am unsure about the exact details of the case, but
would assume that the plaintiff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Similar to the above case, there had already been an earlier hearing. In the previous hearing, the
defendant was noted in default. The plaintiff had requested an adjournment due to being unprepared
for their hearing on Monday, and the judged denied. This dispute highlighted the importance of
being organized and having all evidence and paperwork submitted before a trial or hearing. In this
case, the defendants had made a counter claim for $4,500 for the cost of having to go to court
when the plaintiff was unprepared. The judge denied the defence s request but did make a
judgment of $500 for the defence based on rule 19.05 of the Small Claims Court. In addition, the
plaintiff s had wanted to add more evidence to their own defence. The defendant made a request to
have the trial take place with only the evidence that had been submitted. The judge denied the
request, which demonstrates how much final say a judge has in the outcome of a trial. The final
case I will be discussing is, Saleslar, Paul G.v Mahaevan P. The plaintiff, in this case, had loaned the
defendant money to start a business, and was now suing for $25,000. In the previous settlement
conference, the defendant had admitted fault and agreed to the judgment of paying $1,500 bi
monthly. The defendant did not agree to the terms of payment and was noted in default after
breaching the pay agreement. This case demonstrated how unjust the Small Claims system can be.

The Government Of The People
Democracy is, and will always be, as one of America s past presidents Abraham Lincoln stated in
his Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The exact
definition for democracy is a system of government by the whole population of a state, typically
through elected members. The original idea of democracy that America s Founding Fathers
promoted has shifted throughout the years. America was founded on the principles of freedom
and liberty and many of these freedoms and liberties are being stripped away, or are at risk of
being stripped away, by the American government. America is no longer a democracy, but it is an
oligarchy. America is considered an oligarchy because of one reason, and that reason is that power
lies in the hand of the elite wealthy. The majority of the population in America belongs to the
middle class. The preferences of most American citizens have little impact on government. Instead,
the responsiveness of government is strongly tilted towards the most affluent citizens . Those who
reap the benefits are the ones creating policies. As U.S. supreme court justice, Louis Brandeis,
stated, America can have democracy or it can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few,
but it cannot have both. Oligarchy and democracy cannot coexist. It is true to say that since the
founding of America, freedoms and rights of all who have inhabited this land have greatly
increased. However, in recent years, these rights have

Scriticism In The Sirens Of Titans
Most science fiction is rooted in the belief that through thinking human beings can indeed save the
planet and the species and that progress is not only possible but probable through science (Morse
293). Dealing with themes common to most science fiction, Kurt Vonnegut s The Sirens of Titan
explores the question of purpose in a futuristic setting (May 35). This novel, however, contests
many presumptions upon which many science fictionforegrounds. Josh Simpson writes that by
[us]ing irony, satire, and black humor . . . Vonnegut forces his readers to consider what it means to
be human in a chaotic, often absurd, and irrational universe(262). In fact, many scholars would
agree that The Sirens of Titanis Vonnegut s most flamboyant novel, with its entire universe at the
mercy of the outrageous fortune (Wolfe 968). Seconding G. K. Wolfe s idea, Lynn Buck notes that
the world of Vonnegut is a mixture of hilarity and futility, [and] illusion (181).... Show more content

Debunking such progressive and evolutionary beliefs, The Sirens of Titan is replete with empty

Essay on Risk Taking
In our lives, it is important to exercise self command. However,
we should not be so concerned with the future that we stifle the present.
The question becomes what balance should we strike between self command
and risks? What kinds of risks are acceptable or unacceptable? In this
essay, we will use two examples of risks to show the distinction between
the two and arrive at a conclusion as to the balance one should have
between risk and self command. The first example we will use is of a
person who spends his life savings on a lottery ticket and does not win
the lottery. The second is of a person who spends his life savings on a
hunch regarding a cure for AIDS, a hunch that is false. Before we make ... Show more content on

Now that we have several definitions of acceptable risks, we may
ask how these definitions, which seem piecemeal and unrelated, can all
combine to form one definition of acceptable risk. The best way to do
this is to examine the two cases that lie before us and relate the
definitions to them. In the process of doing so, we will determine which
risk is acceptable and which is not.
Risks in the example: the lottery and the AIDS cure
If the average person on the street were presented with the case
of spending one s life savings on a lottery ticket and losing or spending
the same sum on a false hunch regarding an AIDS cure, he or she would
probably come up with several answers. For the most part though, all the
answers would be consistent with one idea: the AIDS cure is simply
quot;worth quot; more and thus is a more acceptable risk. There might be several
reasons for this. One could assume, for example, that the only person who
would attempt to cure AIDS would be a doctor with sufficient experience in
the field. It would follow, then, that the odds of finding a cure for
AIDS would be much greater than the odds of winning the lottery. To win
the lottery, one has to draw 6 numbers out of 46 (a probability that is
very low). However, curing AIDS with medical experience is a less risky
endeavor. In this instance, trying to cure AIDS would be a greater moral
good because it is

Symbols In The Metamorphosis
At some point in our lives, we encounter obstacles, problems and big changes in the way we live
our lives. Franz Kafka s The Metamorphosis tells the story of Gregor Samsa had not only undergone
a big transformation physically, but also emotionally and mentally as an insect. Reading behind the
lines uncovers hidden meanings, imagery, and symbols that may seem inconspicuous to a normal
reader. As this literature may be understood through the lines, and texts that blend in the story.
Throughout The Metamorphosis, symbols, imagery, and settings are used to develop Kafka s
messages. In the light of this, it may be said that no matter how simple this novel may seem, it can

The family gradually rejected Greg s new life as a Vermin. Once the family realized that Greg
was no longer able to provide for their living, they found him useless and refused to care for him.
The anger and shame Mr. Samsa has for his son can be evidenced by the force the apple was
thrown at Gregor. Then the realization only struck Gregor when he was hit by the apple as
thrown by his father Mr. Samsa, the collision brings forth this sudden realization within Gregor
and his family, that could also be symbolized from the Bible, by the apple Your eyes shall be
opened (Genesis 3:5, NIV). Gregor can already painfully see that his life has been completely
changed, he no longer holds the position as the son; he is not useful because he cannot earn
money anymore, he is just a gigantic vermin that is taking up space in the house. To the father,
this can be similar to exile because he is leaving the comforts of his home and work.
Furthermore, this apple becomes a realization to readers that the family did not really treat
Gregor as their own son even before he became a Vermin. They failed to realize that Gregor has
transformed from the son to the bank account. Before, the Samsa family does not see the
metamorphosis because Gregor s physical appearance did not differ, but now they were forced to
take notice . Now, the symbolism of the rotting apple is the guilt he faced after the incident. It

Reactive Attachment Theory Essay
Oppositional Defiant Disorder, or ODD, is a behavioral disorder occurring in childhood. This
disorder is characterized by a child defying authority (parents, teachers, etc.) and an overall angry
/irritable mood. Oppositional Defiant Disorder can impact the child s social relationships both at
home with their families and at school with their teachers and fellow classmates. Attachment
theory, which looks at how well parents provide emotional security for their children, is a useful
framework for understanding the underlying causes of ODD. Through the lens of this theory, ODD
is not the result of a child s behavior or their biology, but instead the child s faulty attachments to
their parents or other guardians. This article will give an in depth... Show more content on

As a whole, attachment theory investigates the process in which children form ties to caregivers
that vary in terms of the security of the bond (Kerns, Tomich, Aspelmeier, Contreras 2000, p. 614).
Better bonds between parents and children lead to better attachment of the child to the parent. If a
child is attached well, they will ...use the primary caregiver as a secure base from which to explore
[their environment] and, when necessary, as a haven of safety and a source of comfort (5) (Benoit
2004, p. 542). Parents need to be available to children as a source of security, but at the same time
let their children develop independence to explore their surroundings and make choices for
themselves. If children do not receive the freedom from parents to make choices independently,
they will struggle with decision making later in life because they had not had the chance to learn
this skill in childhood. There are four attachment styles to be discussed in this section: secure
attachment, insecure avoidant attachment, insecure resistant attachment, and disorganized

Essay about Characters Tested in Michael Crichton’s Sphere
People do things that they normally would not do when they are put in certain situation that test
them. In Michael Crichton s novel Sphere, Beth does many things that she would not normally do
when she is put in certain situations that test her. I want to put you under, Norman. Like Harry.
He shook his head. It s only for a few hours, Norman, she said, and then she seemed decide; she
moved swiftly toward him, and he saw the syringe in her hand, the glint of the needle, and he
twisted away... She had shut off his power, she had shut off his heat, and now she shut off his air.

This says that Beth (with the help of Norman) has to make Harry unconscious, so she uses a syringe
to inject the anesthetic into Harry. This means that with Harry unconscious, the manifestations will
stop occurring, that is if Harry was thinking up the manifestations. This proves that people will do
anything when they are put in a certain situation that tests them because Beth has to artfully use an
anesthetic on a colleague by puncturing his shoulder, and only for hope that the manifestations stop
occurring and that she does not die. People do things that they normally would not do when they
are put in certain situation that test them because Beth turned against her own colleague and used
an anesthetic on him to make him unconscious.
In certain situations, people do things that they normally would not do. When Beth is in the
presence of the power of the Sphere she accuses Norman of having the Sphere s power because the
manifestations are still occurring. Beth, this is crazy. Someone is still making these manifestations.
Who is doing that, Beth? She smiled slowly a lazy, cat smile, as if he secretly amused her. Don t
you really know? He did know. Yes, he thought. He knew, and it chilled him. You re making these
manifestations, Beth. No Norman, she said, still calm. I m not doing it. You are (Crichton 417).
This says that Beth thinks that Norman it making the manifestations so she is accusing him. This

Brief History Of Terrorism In The 19th Century
The history of terrorism is well known as a historically significant personalities, entities and
incidents associated whether rightly or wrongly with terrorism. Scholars agree that terrorism is a
uncertain term and very few of those considered terrorists describe themselves as such. It is
common for opponents in a violent battle to describe the other side as terrorist or as practicing
terrorism. Scholars dispute whether the roots of terrorism date back to the 1st century and the
Sicarii Zealots to the 11th century and the Al Hashshashin to the 19th century and the Fenian
Brotherhood and Narodnaya Volya or to other eras. The Sicarii and the Hashshashin are described
below while the Fenian Brotherhood and Narodnaya Volya are discussed in the 19th Century sub
section. Other control of Terror historical events sometimes associated with terrorism contain the
Gunpowder Plot an attempt to destroy the English Parliament in 1605. Terrorism was also linked
with state terror and the Reign of Terrorin France until the mid19th century when the term also
began to be associated with nongovernmental groups. Lawlessness often in league with rising
nationalism was the most projecting ideology linked with terrorism. Attacks by various
revolutionary groups led to the assassination of a Russian Tsar and a U.S. President.

Social Class Status Of A Child s Parents Essay
Introduction Annette Lareau is the author of Unequal Childhoods, she study African Americans
and white families to understand the impact of how social class makes a difference in family life,
specifically the children lives. This book talks about how the social class will determine how
children will use their cultivate skills in the future. Through her research, she finds the differences
in the parenting styles of twelves families, which all the kids was in the third grade. While reading
the book Lareau found that middle classparents practice concerted cultivation, and working class
and poor parents practice accomplishment of natural growth.
Summary
Reading this book shows how social class status of a child s parents matters. One of the big issues
was how it matter in school success. Chapter 1 talks about the difference between Concerted
Cultivation and the Accomplishment of Natural Growth. Concerted Cultivation is a middle class
child rearing technique they use on a child to improve their child talents. The middle class parents
use this technique to schedule activities for their child. Parents also practice language with their
child. Middle class parents let their child find agreement with them. Lareau states that middle class
parents also takes more consideration with authorities that are associated with their children. For
example, when a parent is not comfortable with the teacher s way of teaching, middle class parents
would directly speak with that

Dan Sperber s Article The Future of Writing
In Dan Sperber s article The Future of Writing, he assesses the presence of writing and reading in
our society, as well as where it may lie in the future . He addresses the possible downfall of
writing, the prevalence that reading will hold in our society, as well as how our society will adapt
and handle the changes. He also covers the emergence of text to speech and speech to text
technological advances, the effects on society and how the disappearance of the two of them will
never fully occur. Sperber s main claim throughout the article is that writing, with the help of
technology, may eventually cease to exist, or at least be far less prominent . While writing has
obtained a unique and prominent standing in most places of the... Show more content on

However, Sperber does stress that there is a strong difference between the writing and reading, and
their relationship with technology. While he states that writing may completely be taken over by
technology, the same could never be done to reading. Most particularly because the two are very
closely linked, yet writing could never exist without reading. The benefits that are present with
writing come mostly from reading, as well as with the fact that as you write, you read along with
your words. Though writing may be replaced at some point in time, reading can never be replaced
despite the text to speech technology.
In particular, he addresses the impact that technology could have, and like writing it involves both
speech and text, yet in the opposite order. This time technology would allow a person to listen to
the text be read to them rather than having to read it themselves. However, Sperber suspects that
this is much less likely than the latter, particularly because most people prefer to read and interpret
on their own. They typically also do not enjoy the voice of the computer, and it is much harder to
follow, especially due to

Long-Term Effects of Global Tourism on Economy
Long term effects of global tourism on economy
Tourism is the travel tour activities which provides travelers leisure facilities and service industry.
And it is also a kind of leisure entertainment that has complex social phenomenon, involves the
politics, economy, culture, history, geography, law, and other social fields. Generally speaking,
tourism has a profound impact for the country.
Tourism gradually has become a prevalent activity all over the world. Compared to 2009, there
were 1002 million international tourists in 2010, which increased 6.6% over the last
year.(UNWTO, 2011) And then, according to the the United Nations World Tourism Organization s

The report said that there were 98 million people were employed directly in 2011 because of the
tourism industry all around the world(WTTC(2), 2012). This might be the biggest benefit for the
tourism industry and the local citizens. Furthermore, being employed means there will have the
opportunity to make money, not only for the industry but also for the people. In consequence, this
will be a win win situation, tourism helps local establish the foundation of the economy, and the
local government helps the tourism industry to win interest and prestige.
Long term effects of global tourism on economy
However, there are some negative points of tourism. One of them is the seasonal employment in
some places, and this will lead to the many people facing the problem of unemployment outside of
the peak tourist season. For example, this will occur in tourist attractions and resort towns, if an
attraction opens to the visitors, like skiing in Swiss in the winter. The skiing coaches will teach
people how to go skiing, but once the snow melted, they will lose their jobs and the staff as well.
Furthermore, the impact of tourism on the environment is a significant issue as the climate change
is most troublesome problem. Over the years, the environmental pollution caused by tourism was
almost out of control, such as deforestation and CO2 emissions from increased air travel, has already

Response To Fear Research Paper
Fear is a survival mechanism. Our brains are able to detect when there is a source of stress that
might be a threat, it then activates a series of events that enable us to be ready to fight or escape.
This reaction is scientifically known as fight or flight. When stress activates that part of the brain,
known as amygdala region, it overrides conscious thought which allows the brain to contribute all
of its energy into facing the threat.
Most people are scared of what can hurt them such as heights, wild animals, spiders, etc. One of
our body s response to fear, is to create chilling goosebumps, which makes the hair on your arms
stand up. This is actually a mechanism that our ancestors adopted. They were covered in hair, so

On each side of the valley there are a series of rows that have five holes each (or more, depending
on the breadboard you have). Each of the holes in each one of the rows is connected together, so
putting wires in that row is like twisting them all together. 2. Start with the 555 timer chip. Look
at the top of the chip (pins pointing away from you). Do you see the small indentation at one
end, or a small dot in one corner? If your chip has the indentation, hold it so that the indentation
is up. The upper left corner is called pin 1. Counting down the left side will be pins 1, 2, 3, and 4.
Go back up the right side, starting with the lower right corner. The pins on that side are 5, 6, 7,
and 8. Pin 1 is opposite 8, 2 is opposite 7, 3 is opposite 6, and 4 is opposite 5. Knowing which pin
is which is critical to making your circuit work. If your chip has a single embossed dot instead of
an indentation, that dot is pin 1. Proceed with the pin numbering as is explained in step 2.a. 3.
Plug the chip into the breadboard near the middle. If it does not immediately plug into the board,
gently squeeze the pins closer and try again. The chip should have four pins on one side of the

the vegetation, it also dries out everything including animals and human beings. The Arizona
Department of Health Services reports that over 1500 deaths have occurred as a result of heat
related illness in Arizona from 200 to 2012 ( Arizona Department of Health Services, n.d.). The
months of April thru September are historical months for heat emergencies with June and July
having the majority of the occurrences. RMFD responded to 20 heat related emergencies from
01/01/15 until 09/08/16. On June 19th, 2016, the high temperature for this date was 1150 and 4
people died as a result of the temperature and strenuous activity hiking. The summer heat
possesses greatest to children under 4, adults over 65, the poor, outside workers, and people that
are overweight ( Arizona Department of Health Services, n.d.). There is a wide range of duration
for this type of emergency depending on the location of the patient. Most patients are located at a
street address which crews readily accessed and transported the patient. In the case of the hikers,
the duration was 1.3 hours for each patient due to the remoteness of the patients and the need for
search and rescue to assist removing the patient. A qualitative risk analysis score of A4 which is an

Problems with the OJ Simpson Trial Essay example
On June 12, 1994, the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were found dead at
her home in Brentwood, CA. Orenthal James Simpson, or O.J. Simpson was notified of their
deaths and immediately taken into custody for questions. Upon the collection of various pieces of
evidence from the crime scene, all avenues pointed to Simpson as the culprit for the double murder.
The conclusion of Simpson criminal trial resulted in his acquittal. There were various reasons for
this acquittal. The most prominent reasons include accusations of racism, evidence contamination,
and the lack of faith in DNA profiling. This paper will discuss the issues that arose with the trial in
depth and offer an explanation and solution to resolving issues... Show more content on

In an attempt to counter the racist claims of the defense, the jury was selected and was mostly
African American females (Gaines 2001). The district attorney of Los Angeles believed that an
all white jury would be ineffective if Simpson were to be found guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996).
This outcome of the jury selection upset the Caucasian population because they felt as though
the jury selection gave Simpson the upper hand in the trial regardless of the fact that the jury
was majority female. The defense counsel was able to control the jury, in a sense through
instilling in their minds that the LAPD was in fact racist. At the trial s conclusion approximately
83% of blacks believed that Simpson was guilty, whereas only 37% of whites believed that
Simpson was guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). These allegations also pushed the evidence
collected from the crime to be discredited as well. The second issue with the Simpson trial, is the
collection of evidence from the crime scene. The crime scene must be protected at all costs to
ensure the integrity of the evidence that will be collected from the crime scene (Schiro, n.d.).
Evidence from a crime scene is arguably the most important aspect of solving a crime and finding
an individual to be guilty of a particular crime. Evidence collection techniques can make or break a
case. Poor evidence collection techniques can discredit the prosecution and glorify the defense,

Comparing Lewis Definitions Of Lust And True Love
William Shakespeare (1564 1616) is regarded as a literary great, recognised for his many plays
that still feature in many educational syllabuses across the world. He has also received adulation
for his poetry and sonnets. This essay works on the basis that there are two individual
specifications of love; lustand true love. Definitions of these loves can be found embedded
within several sonnets and will be explored further on in this essay. Other types of love could
also be distinguished and analysed within Shakespeare s collection of sonnets, however, for the
purposes of this composition to achieve in depth analysis, the two most prevailing types of love
will be focussed on. This essay will seek to determine Shakespeare s definition of both... Show

By using the phrase summer s day , the reader instantly has thoughts in their mind of all the
wonderful and positive things associated with this time of year; the warm sunshine, the
pleasant smells, the long and light days and the beautiful nature that comes into bloom at that
time of year. It has been commented that [sonnet] 18 plays on the proverbial comparative
formula as good as one shall see in a summer s day , meaning as good as the best there is .13 This
reflects the feelings the speaker has towards to recipient of his love and shows the beauty and
warmth of his affections. Nature is also considered be a gift from God, and with the following
line Thou art more lovely and more temperate , the love, or Eros, the speaker feels is likened to be
better than what some consider the most beautiful scenario on the planet. This affirms the
interpretation that Shakespeare feels Eros is transcendent. This notion is continued throughout the
sonnet, once again using nature as a reference point, Rough winds shake the darling buds of
May...but thy eternal summer will never fade . Summer appears fragile and breakable, a sensitive
form of beauty. However, the eternal summer , possibly meaning the internal emotions and
feelings of Eros that the speaker has for his love, will never fade and will span time

Restorative Justice Case Study
Introduction
Over the course of both my undergraduate and master s programs in Negotiation, Conflict
Resolution, and Peacebuilding (NCRP), I have wanted to further study the concept of Restorative
Justice. Though it has surfaced several times throughout my NCRP coursework, it has mostly been
in the context of international conflict. Thus, I have often wondered how Restorative Justice might
work in a more local context. That local context revealed itself in my current role as one of two
fathers of a first grader in a school in Long Beach. Helena, our six year old daughter, attends a
small private school with 160 students in grades K 8. The school community regards itself as
being a large, caring, tight knit extended family, while the administration has been explicit in
stating that the incidence of bullying on the campus is little to none. Our experience as a family in
the nearly two years that we have been part of the community has been otherwise. Here are three
bullying scenarios that we ve experienced or heard of occurring in our school community:
In our first year, two male classmates called our daughter fat when she was in Kindergarten.
Later that same year, a female classmate teased another dark skinned, African American girl in her
class for having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Prior to attending the concert Swingin In The Opera House at Moores Opera House, I had very
little experience attending concerts. Aside from few band performances I attended back in middle
and elementary school, I was never exposed to the world of concerts and performances. Going into
this concert, I was expecting great things since it was my first college concert. To my expectations,
everything seemed perfect when I first walked in. The lighting of the operahouse was set just right
and I could see all the performers lined up in front with their instruments ready to play. There were
many instruments playing during the performances. I noticed saxophones, trumpets, trombones,
and several instruments such as the guitar and piano that kept the rhythm going. There was a
conductor during the performance leading all the performers on when to play. It was apparent that
he did a great job since all the instruments were in sync and played at all the right times. Overall the
audiencewas extremely respectful. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance and it set a great
mood in the opera house. One piece that I really enjoyed in the program was Cherokee arranged by
Frank Mantooth. Initially in the piece when the trumpets were playing by themselves, things

the students would be able to pick up on these distinctions while listening to the piece. Emphasizing

Egyptian Queen Cleopatra in all her glory will never be able to outgrow the reputation she
carries because of her past relationships. What many people do not know is that all of her
relationships were concentric to the goal she was trying to achieve. Although it would seem that
the reason men were so attracted to her was because of her beauty, however this is false.
Cleopatra s beauty was not the hook that caught all of the men; it was her knowledge of the world
and her maturity. Cleopatra was born in 69 b.c.e. in Alexandria, Egypt. She learned much in her

Algebraic And Transcendental Equation
Solution of Algebraic Transcendental Equation
Introduction
When mathematically modeling real life situations we often come across equations in the form of
f(x)=0. These equations can either be in the form of algebraic or transcendental equations. In
certain cases, these equations may prove to be difficult to solve, as the equation may not have an
exact answer. A problem of great importance in science and engineering is that of determining the
roots/zeros of an equation of the form

History Of Women During The Revolutionary War
Maribel Rosales Professor Warner HIS 20122 April 2015 History of Women in US Military
From Continental Army Soldier Deborah Samson to Army Sergeant Leigh Ann Hester,
American ladies have been serving in the U.S. Military for several years. Women have been a
piece of the war exertion since the Revolutionary War, yet in the beginning of our country they
needed to mask themselves to serve alongside men. When they were acknowledged into the
military, ladies were given helper or supportive parts. As the weapons and strategies for fighting
changed in the late 20th century, in any case, the Pentagon started to soon understand that
whether you were female or male; it mattered less on the combat zone. Now going back in time
to the Revolutionary, Civil and Mexican Wars. A small number of women were involved in
combat. However they had to disguise themselves as men and enlist under aliases; a false or
assumed identity. One of these women was Deborah Samson Gannett. She was from Plymouth,
Massachusetts and was one of the first American woman soldiers. In the year 1782, she enlisted
under Robert Shurtleff Samson who was her brother who had passed away. For seventeen months,
Samson served in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. She was injured twice. She

Reflection Paper On Varsity
This year, as a high school freshman, I was blessed with a amazing opportunity. I was moved to
varsity during my freshman year. That usually never happens unless your team is down or you re
really good. Our varsity team had many injuries causing me to be moved up to varsity. Playing
varsity humbled me and showed me that hard work does pay off. From this experience it
encouraged me to keep working to be the best playeri can be in these upcoming years. The day I
was told I would playvarsity was just like every other Monday practice for me. It was a middle of
a regular freshman practice. We were in the middle of walk throughs when the varsity head coach
came up to me. Coach Dodd said, Walker take your equipment off your practicing with varsity
today. I replied, Ok! Right now? Coach Dodd responded, Yes Walker
My first varsity practice was way different than i expected. It was a slower past the freshman but
way more complicated to me. After the practice Coach Dodd told me I would dress varsity. My
reaction was mellow but in the inside i was so excited i didn t know what to do. I went home and
told my mom and called my dad. I don t think anybody was excited as i was. I knew I would have
to go 110% to compete with all the upperclassmen. Varsity practices for me were hard because i
had to do half of a freshman practice then come practice with varsity. I had to memories varsity

What Are The Five Major Functions That A Load Balancer...
By definition load balancing means the ability to spread the load of processing for an application
over a number of separate systems for an overall performance increase in processing in coming
requests. This seems very simple and conceptual very easy to think about the process; just splitting
up the load helps it get done faster. But although this concept may seem simple enough, there are
many factors that can add heavy levels of complexity. For example, anyone who has ever managed
large groups of people in the Army can attest to that.
There are five major functions that a load balancer performs:
Intercepts network based traffic (such as web traffic) destined for a site.
Splits the traffic into individual requests and decides which ... Show more content on

When servers were pushed to their limits the initial thought process was to beef up the system
such as adding more ram, upping the processor, and increasing the storage space. However these
measure only took the scaling so far. At some point, you would have again maxed out all the
hardware platform and its capability. Also beefing up the server meant substantial down time and in
the exploding world of commerce that was not a viable option.
Before Server Load Balancing was a technology or a viable product, site administrators would and
employ a load balancing process known as a DNS round robin. DNS round robin uses a function of
DNS that allows more than one IP address to associate with a host name. Every DNS entry has
what is known as an A record, which maps a hostname, such as www.example.com to an IP
address, such as 111.222.333.444. Usually only one IP address is given to a hostname. With
DNS round robin, it is possible to give multiple IP addresses to a host name distributing traffic
more or less evenly to listed IP addresses. For instance, let s say you had three web servers with
IP addresses of 111.222.333.444, 111.222.333.445, and 111.222.333.446 that we wanted to share
the load for the site www.example.com. The end result is that the traffic destined for

Disadvantages Of Teamwork
Individual efforts cannot fulfill organizational goals on their own. No one person can create,
accomplish or innovate more than a team can. Teamwork is a multifaceted process that requires
individuals to work cohesively towards a common organizational goal. The effectiveness of the
organization relies on the ability of teams to efficiently work together. Individual efforts will gain
momentum as collaboration fuels the ability to accomplish tasks quicker and with better solutions.
One of the best benefits of utilizing teamworkin an organization includes reaching synergy.
Working together to reach synergy is creating a final product that is better than what would have
been created by the individual member s sum of abilities. During collaboration the capabilities of
employees are multiplied to the point where process gain is reached, or acquiring more than
expected based on individual capabilities present (Colquitt et al., 2017). In order to reach this state
of cohesion, teams must engage effectively in the four team work processes including taskwork
processes, teamwork processes, communication processes and team states. Taskwork processes
include the activities of team members that directly relate to accomplishing team goals. Activities
include brainstorming, reaching a consensus, and appointing people to go outside the team in order
to coordinate and find resources for the group. Teamwork processes include preparing the
environment for taskwork processes to be carried out.

What It Means To Understand The Purpose Of Life
they are designed to do, then how can they understand the Purpose of their mate or their

In the book of Jeremiah, God tells this prophet that He knew him before he was formed in the

It is the reason in which God created you. Without Purpose, you can get lost in this world and

they have will start to evaporate as they are confronted with life s challenges. Having a clear idea
of your Purpose in life will keep you motivated and focused on the more important things. You
tend to not be so focused on your singleness when you have direction and understanding of your
Purpose. For instance, once you know what you are supposed to do with your life, you can make
important decisions about where to go to school, what to major in, the career you want to

Rich s Philosophies
Rich 18
Every person has his own philosophy which ultimately guides him through each day. If a person
believes in basic moralities, such as not lying, cheating or stealing, then his actions will project
his beliefs. If one does not agree with these moralities then his actions will oppose the actions of
those who do. People?s philosophies are often guided by how they were raised as children and
how their mind processes information. Situations and events, positive or negative, can change how
a person sees the world which affects the philosophy that they live by. A Christian?s philosophy is

Olive Garden Serving Process
Executive Summary Olive Garden is committed to providing every guest with a genuine Italian
dining experience and make the guest feel like they are family; in Italian it is called Hospitaliano!
In an effort to have competitive advantage over other chain restaurants, Olive Garden emphasizes
comprehensive employee trainings in order to provide their customers the best service possible.
But even though employees have gone through training, there are some issues that would need to
be fixed in order to have 100% customer satisfaction. The issues we have identified for Olive
Garden Restaurants are the hostess system, reservations, running of the food, and inputting the
order. The hostess system will be implemented by working with the IT... Show more content on

The third issue was the process of the servers running the food. Since they are shorthanded on
servers, the scheduled servers help each other out by delivering each other s food which in turn
takes away time away from their own guests. Lastly, inputting the order creates a problem
because most servers are not properly trained or have forgotten the flow of inputting orders,
some servers put the order in right away and guests receive their food while they are still
enjoying the appetizers or the soup/salad; while others wait too long to put in the order for a
steak dinner which takes longer to cook than a simple pasta or meatballs which makes the guest
be upset because they are not enjoying the food the way they should. Overall, if Olive Garden
were to improve these four issues, the restaurant would run a lot smoother and guests will be
happier and return more often to enjoy their dinner. In every restaurant s serving process, there
is always room to improve efficiency and service quality for customers. We have created a
process flow chart, a check sheet, and a service blue print for Olive Garden s customer service.
These tools help us identify problems and indicate possible improvements to better serve
customers. Below are our proposals for improvements in four identified areas. According to our
service blue print, the first problem with the serving process is Olive

Similarities Between 70 And 70
The 70 s v. 2017 Life in the 70 s was very different than it is today. When you compare the 1970s
to 2017 you can see the huge differences, and maybe some similarities. A lot has changed since
the 70 s, including the style, lifestyle, pop culture, and more. Since the 70 s a lot has changed, we
have changed in some ways and are similar in more ways than one. Here are the differences and
similarities between the 70 s and today, 2017. In the 70 s the first president of the decade was
Richard Nixon, he was the 37th president and was in office 1969 1974. Eventually Gerald Fordheld
office after Nixon resigned to avoid the eventual outcome of Watergate, which would have led to
impeachment. Jimmy Carter then served as president in years 1977 1981, with Walter Mondale
as vice president. Today in 2017 we have Donald Trump and Mike Pence, and people are begging
for Trump to be impeached, similar to Nixon. Though people do see impeachment in Trump s
future, but some do not. Another difference since the 70 s is the inflation of the dollar. A dollar
in 1970 is worth $6.30 today, which is a 530.0% increase. A dollar in 1979 is worth $3.37, which is
a 237% increase. When comparing the 70 s to today it is always best to compare the cost of
living. In 1970 minimum wage was $1.60, today in New Mexico minimum wage is now $9.25. A
year of tuition at a public college was about $1,200 in the 70 s, according to the college board, the
average student payed about $9,650 for tuition. In January of

Fog In North America
1). Introduction Fog is one of the dangerous weather, which reduces visibility for drivers, and
can cause accidents or even death. In North America, fog occurs sometimes, but in some areas, it
occurs almost every day. There are five places where fog occurs almost every day. The names of
those places are Grand Banks (Newfoundland), Point Reyes (California), Cape Disappointment
(Washington), and San Francisco (California), Mistake Island (Maine), (Higgins 2015). To
reduce vehicular accidents in thick fog, every driver should reduce speed, check the weather
forecast before driving, and also public awareness in important. 1.1 Definition of Fog According

This type of fog can be seen on Pacific Coast during summer because the ground water in this
coast is very cold then the offshore (Ahrens, Samson 98). 3)Upslope Fog: When mountains,
plains, and slopes have an upward breeze, it causes upslope fog. This fog can occur on the
eastern side of the Rockies during the winter and spring (Ahrens, Samson 99). 4)Evaporation
Fog: Evaporation fog forms as a result of the mixing of two unsaturated air masses. The steam
fog means when the colder air passes over the warm air. It is kind of evaporation fog ( Net

Definition Of Customary International Law
Within the scope of customary international law there are some varying norms that the international
law community must deal with, which can be broken down into three different categories from
most important to least important: 1) norms in which the international community allows no
derogation, these are known as peremptory norms or jus cogens, 2) norms that might allow for
derogation, and 3) norms that aren t binding but some might argue should be.
The classification of these customary norms is based off of both state practice and opinio juris. In
order to determine state practice the states may look towards each other and how they react in
similar scenarios. One debate surrounding this area is determining how many states need to sign off
on an action to determine that sufficient state practice is occurring. Two sides of the argument are
the actual number states versus the regionalization of the states. Opinio juris is defined as a state
engaging in a certain activity because they believe they are under legal obligation to act.
The idea of peremptory norms is older than modern international law itself (113). The idea of
peremptory norms stems from the belief that certain actions are so heinous that in order for these
to be prevented states shall not be allowed to derogate from adherence. The Vienna Convention on
the Law of Treaties shows the importance of peremptory norms in both Article 53 and 64. Article
53 states that a treaty is void if at the time of its

Analysis of the Character of Shrek and Lord Farquaad from movie Shrek
In this essay I will analyse the characters of Shrek and Lord Farquaad and tell you about how the
filmmakers use different presentational devices to create an unusual fairy tale.
In traditional fairy tales the princess is normally a perfect, kind, beautiful person. In a traditional
fairy tale the princess is trapped in the tallest tower of a castle guarded by a terrifying beast.
A handsome prince always rescues them, for instance in Snow White and the seven dwarfs the
prince who rescues her gives her the kiss of life, which is supposed to make the story romantic.
Ogres in traditional fairy tales live in filthy swamplands; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He growls at them and then he says to them in a whisper this is the part when you re supposes to
run away .
When Shrek tries to make Donkey leave him alone by roaring at him donkey just makes a joke
about that if the roar didn t scare people the breathe would.
Donkey tries to become friends with Shrek by coming into his house and bouncing on his bed
saying they can stay up late swapping stories but Shrek doesn t want to be friends with Donkey.
Shrek kicks Donkey outside and Donkey keeps popping his head up in the window which annoys
Shrek.
There are three blind mice who tease Shrek by talking about the smell of cheese when they are
near Shreks ears this is funny because the mice are blind but still manage to offend the ogre.
ELLIOT COOPER BRINE HOWE
Donkey and Shrek visit Duloc, to try to reclaim Shreks swamp from Lord Farquaad. Donkey
thinks that Shrek is too kind and should not have to ask for his swamp to be returned to him.
Donkey tells Shrek to kick out the fairy tale creatures with force from
his swamp if he needs to. Shrek offers to solve the dispute over a pint, which shows Shrek is trying
to settle the dispute without using violence.
When Shrek breaks into the castle to rescue Princess Fiona, he acts like an ogre when he greets the
princess and shakes her to wake her up

The Sanctity Of Life, The Ethical Problem Of Voluntary...
The Sanctity of life, the ethical problem
Voluntary Euthanasia has been considered a controversial topic for many decades. The idea of
committing an act that involves the taking of human life is not one that many people would care
to discuss openly. The main argument is that a person who has been diagnosed with an incurable
illness and is in extreme pain and their ability to move has been limited, while that person still has
control over their destiney should they be allowed take their own life (Bowie, R.2001). The
worldwide debate weather one should be allowed to end a life is still one of the biggest ethical
issues. The attempt to providing the rights of the individual is in conflict with the moral values of
society. Voluntary Euthanasiahas been highly rejected by many religious and pro life institutions.
Ethicist Peter singer is an influential member of pro euthanasia advocates. Singer justifies his pro
euthanasia credentials based on two grounds the first being voluntary, which means the patient, has
the capacity to choose between life and death and can make a rational decision to die. The second
ground is non voluntary, where the patient is incapable of understanding the choice between
continued existence and non existence and therefore cannot consent to death. (Singer, 1993) Singer
maintains the notion that a person who wishes to die has made an informed decision based on
careful exercising of one s reason and then consents to death in the form of voluntary

The Impact Of Web 2.0 Technology On An Global Market Place
INB20009/ MKT20011 Managing the Global Market Place
Essay The Impact of Web 2.0 Technology on an international firm s approach to Managing the
Global Market Place
The global marketplace consists of business transactions amongst all nations around the world
that are not restricted by geographic locations. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and
exchange of goods and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as
opposed to a smaller, domestic business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to
utilise the resources available, in order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of
country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and
growing tool evident in the international marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Weband its use as
a platform to gather intelligence across the globe (O Reilly, 2009).
In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main
factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political
and technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is
falling barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries,
resulting in easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). This can be achieved through
different methods such as the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Under these agreements,

In this observational summary, I will discuss my opinions on three specific cases, the procedural matters, roles of a paralegal, and overall impressions of the Small Claims Court. Areas of Laws, and Types of Disputes: The types of disputes held on Monday consisted of, breach of contracts, unpaid loans, and various civil matters. One of the first cases heard was, Lovas v. Peel Regional Police. Lovas was a self represent plaintiff, and he was suing the Peel police station based on an inaccurate police report filed in 2011. I am unsure about the exact details of the case, but would assume that the plaintiff ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similar to the above case, there had already been an earlier hearing. In the previous hearing, the defendant was noted in default. The plaintiff had requested an adjournment due to being unprepared for their hearing on Monday, and the judged denied. This dispute highlighted the importance of being organized and having all evidence and paperwork submitted before a trial or hearing. In this case, the defendants had made a counter claim for $4,500 for the cost of having to go to court when the plaintiff was unprepared. The judge denied the defence s request but did make a judgment of $500 for the defence based on rule 19.05 of the Small Claims Court. In addition, the plaintiff s had wanted to add more evidence to their own defence. The defendant made a request to have the trial take place with only the evidence that had been submitted. The judge denied the request, which demonstrates how much final say a judge has in the outcome of a trial. The final case I will be discussing is, Saleslar, Paul G.v Mahaevan P. The plaintiff, in this case, had loaned the defendant money to start a business, and was now suing for $25,000. In the previous settlement conference, the defendant had admitted fault and agreed to the judgment of paying $1,500 bi monthly. The defendant did not agree to the terms of payment and was noted in default after breaching the pay agreement. This case demonstrated how unjust the Small Claims system can be. ... • 5. The Government Of The People Democracy is, and will always be, as one of America s past presidents Abraham Lincoln stated in his Gettysburg Address, government of the people, by the people, and for the people. The exact definition for democracy is a system of government by the whole population of a state, typically through elected members. The original idea of democracy that America s Founding Fathers promoted has shifted throughout the years. America was founded on the principles of freedom and liberty and many of these freedoms and liberties are being stripped away, or are at risk of being stripped away, by the American government. America is no longer a democracy, but it is an oligarchy. America is considered an oligarchy because of one reason, and that reason is that power lies in the hand of the elite wealthy. The majority of the population in America belongs to the middle class. The preferences of most American citizens have little impact on government. Instead, the responsiveness of government is strongly tilted towards the most affluent citizens . Those who reap the benefits are the ones creating policies. As U.S. supreme court justice, Louis Brandeis, stated, America can have democracy or it can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but it cannot have both. Oligarchy and democracy cannot coexist. It is true to say that since the founding of America, freedoms and rights of all who have inhabited this land have greatly increased. However, in recent years, these rights have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scriticism In The Sirens Of Titans Most science fiction is rooted in the belief that through thinking human beings can indeed save the planet and the species and that progress is not only possible but probable through science (Morse 293). Dealing with themes common to most science fiction, Kurt Vonnegut s The Sirens of Titan explores the question of purpose in a futuristic setting (May 35). This novel, however, contests many presumptions upon which many science fictionforegrounds. Josh Simpson writes that by [us]ing irony, satire, and black humor . . . Vonnegut forces his readers to consider what it means to be human in a chaotic, often absurd, and irrational universe(262). In fact, many scholars would agree that The Sirens of Titanis Vonnegut s most flamboyant novel, with its entire universe at the mercy of the outrageous fortune (Wolfe 968). Seconding G. K. • 7. Essay on Risk Taking In our lives, it is important to exercise self command. However, we should not be so concerned with the future that we stifle the present. The question becomes what balance should we strike between self command and risks? What kinds of risks are acceptable or unacceptable? In this essay, we will use two examples of risks to show the distinction between the two and arrive at a conclusion as to the balance one should have between risk and self command. The first example we will use is of a person who spends his life savings on a lottery ticket and does not win the lottery. The second is of a person who spends his life savings on a hunch regarding a cure for AIDS, a hunch that is false. Before we make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now that we have several definitions of acceptable risks, we may ask how these definitions, which seem piecemeal and unrelated, can all combine to form one definition of acceptable risk. The best way to do this is to examine the two cases that lie before us and relate the definitions to them. In the process of doing so, we will determine which risk is acceptable and which is not. Risks in the example: the lottery and the AIDS cure If the average person on the street were presented with the case of spending one s life savings on a lottery ticket and losing or spending the same sum on a false hunch regarding an AIDS cure, he or she would probably come up with several answers. For the most part though, all the

One could assume, for example, that the only person who would attempt to cure AIDS would be a doctor with sufficient experience in the field. It would follow, then, that the odds of finding a cure for AIDS would be much greater than the odds of winning the lottery. To win the lottery, one has to draw 6 numbers out of 46 (a probability that is very low). However, curing AIDS with medical experience is a less risky endeavor. In this instance, trying to cure AIDS would be a greater moral good because it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then the realization only struck Gregor when he was hit by the apple as thrown by his father Mr. Samsa, the collision brings forth this sudden realization within Gregor and his family, that could also be symbolized from the Bible, by the apple Your eyes shall be opened (Genesis 3:5, NIV). This disorder is characterized by a child defying authority (parents, teachers, etc.) and an overall angry /irritable mood. Oppositional Defiant Disorder can impact the child s social relationships both at home with their families and at school with their teachers and fellow classmates. Attachment theory, which looks at how well parents provide emotional security for their children, is a useful framework for understanding the underlying causes of ODD. As a whole, attachment theory investigates the process in which children form ties to caregivers that vary in terms of the security of the bond (Kerns, Tomich, Aspelmeier, Contreras 2000, p. 614). If a child is attached well, they will ...use the primary caregiver as a secure base from which to explore [their environment] and, when necessary, as a haven of safety and a source of comfort (5) (Benoit 2004, p. 542). Parents need to be available to children as a source of security, but at the same time let their children develop independence to explore their surroundings and make choices for themselves. If children do not receive the freedom from parents to make choices independently, they will struggle with decision making later in life because they had not had the chance to learn this skill in childhood. The benefits that are present with writing come mostly from reading, as well as with the fact that as you write, you read along with your words. Though writing may be replaced at some point in time, reading can never be replaced despite the text to speech technology. In particular, he addresses the impact that technology could have, and like writing it involves both speech and text, yet in the opposite order. This time technology would allow a person to listen to the text be read to them rather than having to read it themselves. Look at the top of the chip (pins pointing away from you). Do you see the small indentation at one end, or a small dot in one corner? If your chip has the indentation, hold it so that the indentation is up. The upper left corner is called pin 1. Counting down the left side will be pins 1, 2, 3, and 4. Go back up the right side, starting with the lower right corner. The pins on that side are 5, 6, 7, and 8. Pin 1 is opposite 8, 2 is opposite 7, 3 is opposite 6, and 4 is opposite 5. Orenthal James Simpson, or O.J. Simpson was notified of their deaths and immediately taken into custody for questions. Upon the collection of various pieces of evidence from the crime scene, all avenues pointed to Simpson as the culprit for the double murder. The conclusion of Simpson criminal trial resulted in his acquittal. There were various reasons for this acquittal. The most prominent reasons include accusations of racism, evidence contamination, and the lack of faith in DNA profiling. In an attempt to counter the racist claims of the defense, the jury was selected and was mostly African American females (Gaines 2001). The district attorney of Los Angeles believed that an all white jury would be ineffective if Simpson were to be found guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). This outcome of the jury selection upset the Caucasian population because they felt as though the jury selection gave Simpson the upper hand in the trial regardless of the fact that the jury was majority female. The defense counsel was able to control the jury, in a sense through instilling in their minds that the LAPD was in fact racist. At the trial s conclusion approximately 83% of blacks believed that Simpson was guilty, whereas only 37% of whites believed that Simpson was guilty (Thernstrom Fetter 1996). These allegations also pushed the evidence collected from the crime to be discredited as well. The second issue with the Simpson trial, is the collection of evidence from the crime scene. The crime scene must be protected at all costs to ensure the integrity of the evidence that will be collected from the crime scene (Schiro, n.d.). Evidence from a crime scene is arguably the most important aspect of solving a crime and finding an individual to be guilty of a particular crime. Restorative Justice Case Study Introduction Over the course of both my undergraduate and master s programs in Negotiation, Conflict Resolution, and Peacebuilding (NCRP), I have wanted to further study the concept of Restorative Justice. Though it has surfaced several times throughout my NCRP coursework, it has mostly been in the context of international conflict. Thus, I have often wondered how Restorative Justice might work in a more local context. That local context revealed itself in my current role as one of two fathers of a first grader in a school in Long Beach. Helena, our six year old daughter, attends a small private school with 160 students in grades K 8. The school community regards itself as being a large, caring, tight knit extended family, while the administration has been explicit in stating that the incidence of bullying on the campus is little to none. Our experience as a family in the nearly two years that we have been part of the community has been otherwise. By definition load balancing means the ability to spread the load of processing for an application over a number of separate systems for an overall performance increase in processing in coming requests. This seems very simple and conceptual very easy to think about the process; just splitting up the load helps it get done faster. But although this concept may seem simple enough, there are many factors that can add heavy levels of complexity. For example, anyone who has ever managed large groups of people in the Army can attest to that. There are five major functions that a load balancer performs: Intercepts network based traffic (such as web traffic) destined for a site. When servers were pushed to their limits the initial thought process was to beef up the system such as adding more ram, upping the processor, and increasing the storage space. However these measure only took the scaling so far. At some point, you would have again maxed out all the hardware platform and its capability. Also beefing up the server meant substantial down time and in the exploding world of commerce that was not a viable option. Before Server Load Balancing was a technology or a viable product, site administrators would and employ a load balancing process known as a DNS round robin. DNS round robin uses a function of DNS that allows more than one IP address to associate with a host name. Every DNS entry has what is known as an A record, which maps a hostname, such as www.example.com to an IP address, such as 111.222.333.444. Usually only one IP address is given to a hostname. With DNS round robin, it is possible to give multiple IP addresses to a host name distributing traffic more or less evenly to listed IP addresses. Teamwork is a multifaceted process that requires individuals to work cohesively towards a common organizational goal. The effectiveness of the organization relies on the ability of teams to efficiently work together. Individual efforts will gain momentum as collaboration fuels the ability to accomplish tasks quicker and with better solutions. One of the best benefits of utilizing teamworkin an organization includes reaching synergy. Working together to reach synergy is creating a final product that is better than what would have been created by the individual member s sum of abilities. During collaboration the capabilities of employees are multiplied to the point where process gain is reached, or acquiring more than expected based on individual capabilities present (Colquitt et al., 2017). In order to reach this state of cohesion, teams must engage effectively in the four team work processes including taskwork processes, teamwork processes, communication processes and team states. Olive Garden Serving Process Executive Summary Olive Garden is committed to providing every guest with a genuine Italian dining experience and make the guest feel like they are family; in Italian it is called Hospitaliano! In an effort to have competitive advantage over other chain restaurants, Olive Garden emphasizes comprehensive employee trainings in order to provide their customers the best service possible. But even though employees have gone through training, there are some issues that would need to be fixed in order to have 100% customer satisfaction. The issues we have identified for Olive Garden Restaurants are the hostess system, reservations, running of the food, and inputting the order. The hostess system will be implemented by working with the IT... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The third issue was the process of the servers running the food. Since they are shorthanded on servers, the scheduled servers help each other out by delivering each other s food which in turn takes away time away from their own guests. Lastly, inputting the order creates a problem because most servers are not properly trained or have forgotten the flow of inputting orders, some servers put the order in right away and guests receive their food while they are still enjoying the appetizers or the soup/salad; while others wait too long to put in the order for a steak dinner which takes longer to cook than a simple pasta or meatballs which makes the guest be upset because they are not enjoying the food the way they should. Overall, if Olive Garden were to improve these four issues, the restaurant would run a lot smoother and guests will be happier and return more often to enjoy their dinner. In every restaurant s serving process, there is always room to improve efficiency and service quality for customers. We have created a process flow chart, a check sheet, and a service blue print for Olive Garden s customer service. These tools help us identify problems and indicate possible improvements to better serve customers. Below are our proposals for improvements in four identified areas. According to our service blue print, the first problem with the serving process is Olive ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 46. Definition Of Customary International Law Within the scope of customary international law there are some varying norms that the international law community must deal with, which can be broken down into three different categories from most important to least important: 1) norms in which the international community allows no derogation, these are known as peremptory norms or jus cogens, 2) norms that might allow for derogation, and 3) norms that aren t binding but some might argue should be. The classification of these customary norms is based off of both state practice and opinio juris. In order to determine state practice the states may look towards each other and how they react in similar scenarios. One debate surrounding this area is determining how many states need to sign off on an action to determine that sufficient state practice is occurring. Two sides of the argument are the actual number states versus the regionalization of the states. Opinio juris is defined as a state engaging in a certain activity because they believe they are under legal obligation to act. The idea of peremptory norms is older than modern international law itself (113). The idea of peremptory norms stems from the belief that certain actions are so heinous that in order for these to be prevented states shall not be allowed to derogate from adherence. The Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties shows the importance of peremptory norms in both Article 53 and 64. Article 53 states that a treaty is void if at the time of its ... In traditional fairy tales the princess is normally a perfect, kind, beautiful person. In a traditional fairy tale the princess is trapped in the tallest tower of a castle guarded by a terrifying beast. A handsome prince always rescues them, for instance in Snow White and the seven dwarfs the prince who rescues her gives her the kiss of life, which is supposed to make the story romantic. • 48. The Sanctity Of Life, The Ethical Problem Of Voluntary... The Sanctity of life, the ethical problem Voluntary Euthanasia has been considered a controversial topic for many decades. The idea of committing an act that involves the taking of human life is not one that many people would care to discuss openly. The main argument is that a person who has been diagnosed with an incurable illness and is in extreme pain and their ability to move has been limited, while that person still has control over their destiney should they be allowed take their own life (Bowie, R.2001). The worldwide debate weather one should be allowed to end a life is still one of the biggest ethical issues. The attempt to providing the rights of the individual is in conflict with the moral values of society. Voluntary Euthanasiahas been highly rejected by many religious and pro life institutions. Ethicist Peter singer is an influential member of pro euthanasia advocates. Singer justifies his pro euthanasia credentials based on two grounds the first being voluntary, which means the patient, has the capacity to choose between life and death and can make a rational decision to die. The second ground is non voluntary, where the patient is incapable of understanding the choice between continued existence and non existence and therefore cannot consent to death. (Singer, 1993) Singer maintains the notion that a person who wishes to die has made an informed decision based on careful exercising of one s reason and then consents to death in the form of voluntary ... • 49. The Impact Of Web 2.0 Technology On An Global Market Place INB20009/ MKT20011 Managing the Global Market Place Essay The Impact of Web 2.0 Technology on an international firm s approach to Managing the Global Market Place The global marketplace consists of business transactions amongst all nations around the world that are not restricted by geographic locations. This worldwide scale of sales, purchase and exchange of goods and services unsurprisingly makes it much more difficult to manage, as opposed to a smaller, domestic business. It is important for managers of the global marketplace to utilise the resources available, in order to effectively and efficiently deal business outside of country borders. Web 2.0 Technology in particular, is a fairly new but extremely successful and growing tool evident in the international marketplace. It refers to the World Wide Weband its use as a platform to gather intelligence across the globe (O Reilly, 2009). In order to manage the global marketplace, it is necessary to take into consideration the two main factors of globalisation. Globalisation is the progression of the economy through cultural, political and technological integration around the world (Wild Han, 2010). One of its major catalysts is falling barriers to trade, which is the decrease in international boundaries between countries, resulting in easier import and export transactions (Wild Han, 2010). This can be achieved through different methods such as the Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Under these agreements, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
