Analysis Of The Book Clotel Or The President s Daughter
In the novel Clotel or The President s Daughter, Williams Wells Brown s use of irony as Europe,
particularly France, as a pivotal setting for the liberation of African Americans from the bondage of
slavery, by virtue of its political and social demeanor, contrasted from the United States of America. In
the Letter Exchange between Benjamin Banneker and Thomas Jefferson, Banneker s letter reinforces
the situational irony when he argues, Sir, suffer me to recall to your mind that time in which the arms
and tyranny of the British crown were exerted with every powerful effort in order to reduce you to a
state of servitude (253). Thus, this citation reminds Jefferson of his and his country s origin. The
Letters of Exchange and scenes from the novel dramatize the oppression of enslaved African
Americans while acknowledging the irony by assessing the persisting gap between America s
founding principles and the ruthless existence of slavery.
The publication of Clotel in London in 1853 is the first indication of irony, by assessing the persisting
gap between freedom in Europe and the ruthless existence of slavery in America. Furthermore, it
indicates to the reader African American status in U.S. culture. To begin, allow us discuss Thomas
Jefferson, father of American Independence and a father of slave children. A free African American,
Benjamin Banneker, contested the racialist views offered in Notes on the State of Virginia and
challenged the Declaration of Independence as a

Differences Between Malcolm X And Martin Luther King
Government Approved Freedom
Despite both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. actively fighting for freedom and equality during
the Civil Rights Movement, both men are not remembered equally. Undeniably, their approaches were
different which resulted in conflicting ideals and different outcomes. These differences are highlighted
through the comparison of Dr. King s Letter from Birmingham Jail to Malcolm X s speech of The
Ballot or the Bullet . Both Malcolm X and Dr.King advocated for change regarding the treatment of
the black community, but their perceptions of the timeline for change varied. Malcolm X was prepared
to abandon the current system and separate the black community entirely to achieve immediate
equality even if this called for violence. Whereas Dr. King advocated for all groups to think and act
differently for total equality and true freedom. Ultimately, Dr. King understood that for complete
change it might be a longer process, but he was willing to be respectful and encourage this movement
peacefully.
Considering the men sought different types of change to achieve their freedom, they had to target
different audiences to advocate their plans towards. As Martin Luther King Jr. desired change
throughout society and the systematic injustices, he had to target those who did not personally
experience his inequality, but would still listen and respect him. As a minister and admired man of
God, other church leaders were an ideal audience for Dr. King. He

Crucible Love Triangle
The love triangle between Abigail Williams, John Proctor and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible by
Arthur Miller is best characterised by not only the theme of love, but also the themes of abhorrence
and vengeance. This love triangle forms a predominant part of the play as it introduces the three main
themes which allow Miller to develop the storyline and express the two sided nature of people in
Salem.
Abigail Williams, the biggest player in this triangle, is introduced as a cunningly deceitful person. She
worked at the Proctor household previously and had an affair with John Proctor and now desperately
wants to marry him. She feels that Elizabeth is unworthy of him and abhors her ( Oh, I marvel how
such a strong man may let such a sickly

A Maximum Wage Research Paper
People have different views about whether governments should introduce a maximum wage. While in
some ways it may seem reasonable to allow people to earn as much as companies are willing to pay, I
personally believe that employee remuneration should be capped at a certain level. There are various
reasons why it might be considered beneficial to allow people to be paid extremely high salaries. If
companies offer excellent pay packages, they can attract the most talented people in their fields to
work for them. For example, technology companies like Google are able to employ the best
programmers because of the huge sums that they are willing to pay. Furthermore, these well paid
employees are likely to be highly motivated to work hard and therefore

Essay on The Success of the McDonald’s Franchise
Not having to answer to a corporate boss is the dream of many and the flexibility that owning a
business franchise creates provides this option. Success is not reached by simply creating a business,
however. The level of success is measured by the size and efficiency of the business. Business growth
is the driving force of the economy. The additional jobs and revenues created when a business expands
allow the economy to grow at exponential rates. One of the fastest and most popular ways to increase
the size of a business is to turn it into a franchise, which can then be purchased by individuals.
Franchising provides opportunities that are beneficial to both the parent company and the purchaser.
The company that owns the business can expand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
McDonald s has extremely strict rules when it comes to awarding franchises. First, it is very costly to
open a new location or purchase an existing location, with the median startup cost being $300,000
(Kalnins Lafontaine, 2004, p. 750). As well, the company does an extensive background check on a
variety of issues including credit history, business management experience, and the acceptance of the
contractual agreement that the company provides. Because of these strict rules and the large amount of
capital needed to purchase a location, rates for franchise applicants are 1% for McDonald s (Norton,
1988, p. 204). This is an extremely low acceptance rate and is even lower than McDonald s chief
competitor, Burger King, who accepts 1.5% percent of applicants (Norton, 1988, p. 199). These low
numbers are understandable in the context of the business and risk that is involved. Though the
franchise purchaser must pay a large amount of money to gain the rights to the restaurant, they truly
have nothing to lose besides money because they are simply running another company s business
model as well as using their trademarks and logos. McDonald s on the other hand, has a great amount
at stake because they place the well being of an entire restaurant into the caretaking of an individual
who simply purchased the rights for the store. If the store does poorly or if there are issues with
customer service, it reflects

Kanye West Ambitions
There s nothing I really wanted to do in life that I wasn t able to get good at. That s my skill. I m not
really specifically talented at anything except for the ability to learn. That s what I do. That s what I m
here for. Kanye West. Kanye West was able to extract the indescribable words of my thoughts and
relate to me about what I want to do in my life. Growing up I had a wide variety of interests in
learning about art, business, and fashion. Soon thereafter, trying to decide what college I wanted to
attend felt impossible because there were no majors combined all of my interests. As a result, my
future became blurry and lost, but I found new ways to create my future with inspiration from

I was cramming information. Then I created a studying method by breaking the information down into
smaller section to study over a period of time so it would be easier to remember. During free time, I
would read books and newspapers to expand my knowledge, and learn about what s going on around
the world. I grew away from watching cartoon shows and was entertained by inspirational TV shows
as an alternative. For instance, I watched Shark Tank, the Apprentice, and Project Runway. During
Season 12 of Project Runway, I remember Heidi Klum introducing Nina Garcia with the title Creative
Director . I never heard of the title Creative Director before, and I immediately did research to unfold
what mysterious role this position held.
Within that moment, I was finally out of the darkness and felt curiosity and motivation accumulate in
my mind knowing a positive change was occurring for my future. Creative Directors are the vital role
of an Advertising or Marketing firm, and they lead and give creative guidance to the artists,
photographers, and graphic designers. Being a Creative Director combines all of my interests into one

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Case Study
After their successful work with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, St. Jude Children s Hospital decided
to expand their efforts outwards and focus on another type of leukemia that attacks the lives of
children every year. Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a cancer that begins in bone marrow and quickly
multiplies and spreads to white blood cells, makes up 20% of all childhood leukemia (Pui 51). The
first AML study at St. Jude began in 1986. Before the start of this project, only one child out of every
58 children suffering from this illness survived for a time greater than five years; however, by the end

Jude has continued to go beyond other hospitals in the United States when it comes to research in the
Pediatric Genome Project. Organizing the genetic base of complex diseases like pediatric cancer has
been the hardest challenge scientists have had to overcome in order to understand the molecular
background of certain disease (Hussain). In order to create a treatment with the hopes of ending
childhood cancer, St. Jude Children s Hospital recognized the importance of designing a project that
would allow them to organize the landscape of certain mutations commonly appeared in a specific
disease. In January 2010, St. Jude Children s Research Hospital collaborated with Washington
University to play an essential role in completing the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, an
international effort to identify the genetic mutations that cause the formation of cancer tumors and to
develop new treatments to target these illnesses. This three year, $65 million dollar project was
developed in order to sequence the genetic orientation of over 600 pediatric tumors and non tumor
germline samples. After the completion of this project, researchers were shocked at the success from
this project (Downing). This study concluded that variations in repetitive DNA sequences,
heterogeneity within tumor samples, and mutations affecting the regulatory regions of genes are the
focus of the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project s team after completing their complex study of the

Free Will In Virgil s The Aeneid
Since the dawn of time, mankind has never been satisfied with this one life. There is always the
lurking mystery of what lies afterward; even with no scientific proof that there is anything awaiting
those who die, humans cannot accept that death is the end. The rich mythology of ancient Greek and
Roman culture includes many tales of a sprawling, often chaotic Underworld, with areas reserved for
those who have greatly sinned and are deserving of punishment as well for those who have been
blessed with paradise. In Virgil s The Aeneid, we see a world that is controlled by Fate and whether
somebody lives or dies, is punished or rewarded is left to the gods. Over one thousand years later,
Dante Alighieri took this idea and decided to write his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

punishment. For example, Minos who was known to be just and fair during his life, now summons the

element to the division of souls in this Underworld, which plays into the belief system of the time that
each individual on their own is not important; it is one s culture and heritage to which one must
subscribe entirely. Dante, on the other hand, is writing with a background that follows the belief that
individuals do matter, and their individual sins matter more than where they are from or their status in

Slogans In The Book 1984 By George Orwell
In the book, 1984, George Orwell establishes a haunting setting near the future. Orwell s society
thrives in the overbearing amount of power that is present. The government has an ability to
manipulate by language and by the acceptance of technology. Winston, a young man living in this
society, has a strong disfavor towards the Party. The government s way of controlling its people is by
altering their realization of the world. Slogans, used by government officials, are statements that help
enforce the control over people. War means the conflict between two parties, peace means an
agreement between two parties. Thus making the slogan War is Peace. Slavery, in 1984, essentially
means a person or group of people who are under some influence of another person. Freedom, as
applied to this circumstance, means the absence of or release from ties and obligations. This then
makes the second slogan, Freedom is Slavery. The last slogan is Ignorance is Strength . Ignorance is
the lack of not knowing; knowing gives a person strength. In the book, 1984, the governments three
slogans provide significant meaning and power throughout the Party. ... Show more content on

Two, our healthcare system needs to focus more on the patients comfort level and less on the methods

Analysis Of The Book Escape Of The Night By David F....
Escape David David Johnson hid under the bed in his room. The heavy footsteps drew closer, and
David held his breath to try avoid detection. As the footsteps paused outside his door, David s heart
began to pound with dread. His pounding heart made it hard to breath, and at only seven years old,
David couldn t hold his breath for very long. It came out in a loud whoosh, and David shrank in terror
as the footsteps beat like drums toward him. He had been found. The dusty hardwood bit into his
shoulder as he tried to squeeze further under the bed. The legs of the lampstand seemed to wobble as
the footsteps pounded closer. The spider man comforter hung down like a hand reaching out to save
him. Across the room, the closet door was slightly open, revealing the white shelves that held his too
small clothes. There were shadows on the sky blue walls from the dim light of the hallway, and David
thought they looked like jagged monsters reaching out to get him. As he glanced back toward the oak
door of his room, David s vision was blocked by two large boots with red wings on them. Dirt had
been tracked across the floor, appearing to make the shadow standing above his bed even uglier. A
large, calloused hand reached under the bed and roughly jerked David from under it, and snatched
David by his unwashed, dirty blond hair. Get out here, you little twerp. A bumbling voice growled,
and David recognized the dreaded voice of his father, Denny Johnson. David, dangling from his

Abusing Emergency Department
One of the main issues in today s society is the usage of the emergency department. For many
individuals, the emergency department is used as a day to day health care facility instead of the urgent
care that it should be. But then again, what is the emergency department and how is it being used? It is
a section in the hospital where patients come to be seen whether it is for critical and/or non critical
reasons.
According to the National Institute for Reform, its mission is to provide trauma and emergency
services for people in imminent danger of losing their life or suffering permanent damage to their
health . It is in fact open 24 hours, 7 days a week. This gives more accessibility for those who have

Medical providers have the ability during these non emergency visits to provide patients with other
resources to further expand the learning process of future ailments. It also can provide patients with
appropriate follow up care plans (Wei, Camargo June, 2000).
In conclusion, we can see that emergency departments are not used for what they have been intended
for. They are now being abused for the most minor issues, including that of preventive care. In order
for us to help reduce costs, we must learn to use the emergency department for serious and critical
issues. One major way we can help reduce costs and unnecessary visits is by educating one another on
visiting our local medical facilities when having the most minor issues. This will not only help costs
but it will give faster results when visiting the hospital overall.

Why Is Winston Peacock Murder
The death of Winston Peacock was in fact a suicide, not a murder. Winston was found face down,
holding a gun. He used that gun to shoot himself in the head, thus killing himself. Winston had swords
and guns on the wall. They are in a crisscrossed pattern but one of the guns is missing. The reason as
to why it is missing is because the missing gun is the gun that he is grasping in his hand. Some might
believe somebody stole the gun, shot him, and run, but it is the exact same type of gun Winston is
holding, so a hit and run cannot be a factor. The gun is in his right hand and the right side of his head
is bloody. They indeed match up. If he were to hold the gun up to his head with it in his right hand, it

Narrative Essay About A Tough Move
A Tough Move It was a bright and sunny day. All the kids from ages 2 12 were outside playing and
enjoying in the sun. The other middle schoolers and high schoolers were sitting inside their house in
their room and texting their friends or doing homework . My mom says that with this much
technology people have stopped communicating with their voices and are now always texting. I was in
my room doing my weekend homework, when my dad rang the family discussion bell and me and my
brother Logan came down and sat around the family discussion spot. No one spoke and it started to
feel awkward. However I didn t have the courage to talk and break the silence. Logan took his phone
out and started texting his friends. Mom finally broke the silence by saying, How is your weekend so
far? She usually says somethings like how s your day , how is your weekend , or how are you doing
with your life when she doesn t know how to start a conversation between people. Really good, I said
actually starting the conversation. So why did you call us here? My mom and dad sighed and looked at
eachother and my dad said, We have to ... move. My work got moved to Seattle. I was shocked, I had
to have misheard him, I m sorry dad, but could you please repeat that. We going to have to move to
Seattle, my dad repeated. Now I probably heard him right, but moving from Miami, Florida to Seattle,
Washington. Where did dad s job find a place across the world, I thought, if we re actually moving,
then my best friend, my school, my favorite ice cream shop, and my favorite library would all go
away. I really couldn t believe it. So we re moving from here to Seattle, Washington, I said almost
shouting. What about Cass, the ice cream, the warm weather, the beach, the library, and the swamps
and marshes. Where would all that go? Disappear into thin air? My mom sighed and looked at me, We
know that this would be hard for the two of you, but we need to be there by Monday. Dad and I
already booked the tickets and we re leaving on Sunday. We ve already packed our stuff and all you
guys have to do is pack your stuff and say all the goodbyes today. We also got you guys out off school.

Hunted Out Language Analysis
In chapter 3, the repeated phrase hunted out (or hunt out ) sticks out the most because the phrase is
such a hard hitting and vivid word choice. The first time I noticed the use of this phrase was on page
63, Kingston explains that her mother wanted privacy, so she hunted out a secret hiding place at
school. In this context, the use of hunted makes her seem like a scavenger, trying to find her own little
habitat that she could mark as her own territory. Hunted is deliberate, instead of merely stumbling
upon a secret place, which simply gives it more power. It gives it more power not only to the reader,
but for Kingston as well because it s her word choice, and she wanted to convey her mother in a
certain aspect. Using hunted as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hunt out is used here instead of hunted, which I think gives it a different connotation as well. Hunt is
active and present, which coincides with the fact that she s using self defense against the Ghost. The
final use of this that I noticed is on page 77. Kingston s mother hunted out seed shops, so now we re
going back to the past tense of hunt. Both this third usage and the first usage of hunted gives the idea
of her actions being premeditated. What I find most interesting about the general use of this phrase is
that I connected immediately to the previous chapter, White Tigers, because Fa Mu Lan was a warrior;
she trained, hunted, fought for survival. This connects to the use of hunt in that she is essentially
giving her mother an undertone of Fa Mu Lan s characteristics, much like how she wants to attribute
Fa Mu Lan s characteristics to herself. By giving her mother this attribute, it makes sense that she
hunts for these things, whatever they may be, because she is a warrior in her own right, and it is only
right for Kingston to describe her actions in this way in order to convey that she, too, is comparable to

Troy and Trojan War
Troy and Trojan War: Final
Topic 2
Helen: What is beauty? Some may say Helen is and was the definition of beauty. Can beauty be born
or be simply made by the Gods. Beauty in this epic tale in The Iliad had the power to make any man
do anything, Helen being a famous female character in this ancient time made the power of beauty
strike. In this period of time walked many strong warriors, many famous warriors. But they all seemed
to let Helen has the power. When being this beautiful I believe it came with a big price. She was
blamed for the war. She was called the innocent, the guilty, the dangerous, the sinful, the irresponsible,
and the woman who launched a thousand ships . She was blamed because these men were fools to her
beauty. A woman s beauty can t possibly be the cause for all this death and destruction. But in the epic
tale of The Iliad, these men made Helen the most powerful one of them all. Some say she was the

Stock Regulatory Infrastructure Of The Indian Securities...
ABSTRACT
The purpose of this study is to take stock regulatory infrastructure of the Indian securities market and
see whether there exist well formulated laws with well defined scope and powers of the regulator,
capable of presenting all investors in the Indian market with a level of playing field. We summarise
some of the regulatory provisions that have evolved for tackling market misconduct and try to see
what comes in the way of regulatory action aimed at investor protection in India, as compared with
US which is perceived as the world s most safe and liquid capital market. We also discuss the roles the
stock exchanges and electronic databases in aiding the regulator in prevention, detection and
conviction of securities frauds. One tends to conclude that the scope of Indian securities laws which
gave gradually evolved over time is now quite pervasive and the problem lies mostly in the enforcing
compliance particularly for crimes such as price manipulation and illegal insider trading. Our
discussion suggests that there remains need to ensure that laws/regulations are rationalised to
completely empower SEBI to carry out its functions as the principle regulator, while SEBI in turn
needs to drastically upgrade its surveillance process enabling to produce evidence that is credible
enough to secure conviction.

Abraham Lincoln s Greatest Heroes
Abraham Lincoln is refered to as one of America s greatest heroes due to both his incredible impact on
the nation and his unique appeal. His most rememberal story of the rise from humble beginnings to
achieve the highest office in the land, then, a sudden and tragic death at a time when his country
needed him most to complete the great task remaining before the nation. Lincoln s distinctively human
and humane personality and historical role as savior of the Union and emancipator of the slaves
creates a legacy that endures. His eloquence of democracy and his insistence that the Union was worth
saving embody the ideals of self government that all nations strive to achieve.
Childhood
Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin in Hardin County on February 12 1809, Kentucky to
Thomas Lincoln and Nancy Hanks Lincoln. Thomas was a strong and determined pioneer who found
a moderate level of prosperity and was well respected in the community. The couple had two other
children: Abraham s older sister Sarah and younger brother Thomas, who died in infancy. Due to a
land dispute, the Lincolns were forced to move from Kentucky to Perry County, Indiana in 1817,
where the family squatted on public land to scrap out a living in a crude shelter, hunting game and
farming a small plot. Thomas was eventually able to buy the land. Law Career
In March, 1830, the family again migrated, this time to Macon County, Illinois. When his father
moved the family again to Coles County, 22 year old

My Life In The Trenches
Today was one of the hardest days I have experienced in my lifetime. We dug trenches, moved
equipment, and repaired broken equipment from sun up until sun down. To make this even worse, all
day the wind blew fiercely towards our trenches forcing us to endure the horrific stench of the soldiers
who have lost their lives in no man s land. I feel so horrible for the families of those lost brothers of
mine. They will never have the opportunity to give their sons, husbands, fathers, and brothers a proper
burial. It can get depressing here in these trenches as I do nothing but stare at the sky for hours on end
with no sign of life in sight. I try to keep my mind busy, but every still moment my mind goes back to
my brothers I have lost. I try to justify ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are positioned at the point where the River Aisne and River Oise meet. We know that holding our
ground is important because if some how they were to break through our trenches here they would
have clear access to Chantilly and then they would move to our most beloved city, Paris. Although we
know that holding our ground is very important, we had hoped for a chance to drive those nasty
Germans back to where they came from. The day started slow, the sleep I longed for had eluded me as
normal. Being tired in battle was no good thing, and almost no one on our side got much sleep.
Thankfully, we re sure no one on the other side got much sleep either. In the wee hours of the morning
before daybreak we prepared for battle. I had all those feelings rushing back to me; scared, anxious,
excited, and nervous. Once we felt we were ready we all quickly headed for our posts. There was no
good way to fight a battle in these trenches. Whoever got chosen to attempt an attack was almost
surely dead as soon as the orders were sent. Running across no man s land was one of the most
treacherous tasks we ever had. I have only been sent out twice, luckily both times I have been able to
retreat back to our trenches safely after our job was done. Both sides ran at each other like this all day
during battles. As you can tell this hardly lead to any good as hundreds died and only feet were gained
if you were lucky. Today was no different, we engaged in this same type of warfare for hours. I saw
fellow soldiers die attempting to cross to the German s side, and I even personally pulled the trigger
on Germans who attempted to cross to our side. Many soldiers say they struggle when killing others,
but honestly I do not. I have seen too many of my brothers shot by those Germans across from us that

Characteristics Of Romanticism
Jonathan and Jessica Wordsworth. New York, NY: Penguin Books, 2005. Print.
Review by Gloria Wan, Oxford College of Emory University
The Penguin Books of Romantic Poetry includes a collections of romantic poetry from later eighteen
centuries to the early nineteenth century. At the peak of Romanticism, there were many social and
political changes occurred including the French Revolution, Napoleon s expansion in Europe, the
Congress of Vienna, the conflict between conservatism and liberalism, Industrial revolution and so on.
Romantic poets used poems to express their emotions of their love for nature, longing for the ancient
legends, and they tried to use their emotions and feelings to understand the world around them
including the French Revolution, slavery, industrial revolution and the Napoleonic war. However, after
the Revolution of 1848, the wave of romanticism died out and realism emerged.
Many romantic poetries praised the beauty and the power of the nature, and this can be seen as one of
the characteristic of Romanticism. In the poem Ode to the West Wind by Percy Shelley, it talked about
wind has the power to change the season from autumn to spring, and it can also bring rain and hail in
the sky and waves in the ocean. As he wrote in his poem Oh wild west wind, thou breath of autumn s
being, thou, from whose unseen presence the leaves dead are driven, like ghosts from an enchanter
fleeing...the winged seeds, where they lie cold and low, each like a corpse within its

The Older Generation And Life Experiences In My Life
You can learn so much from the older generations. Their life experiences can teach you a lot and give
you some insight on this thing we call life. Generations interacting with each other can be very
beneficial to society today. Older generations can explain to the youth that everything in life won t go
the way you plan for it to, but that s okay. They can let them know to take the hand that life deals them
and make the best out of it. People from older generations can prove to you that no matter how many
curve balls life throw at you; you can still become successful. I was able to interview someone from
the baby boomer s generation and apply their life experiences to my lifespan course.
I have known Jeanetta Wrice all of my life, and I have gotten to know her in all aspects of her life. She
is able to juggle being a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend all while having a career and I loved
that about her. Growing up wasn t smooth for her, she had many bumps she had to overcome to
achieve her success. During the interview I was able to ask her questions about how she became
successful all while starting a family at a young age. Another question I had was about her
environment. Being that she lived in a rough neighborhood how did she stay on the right path and not
give in to peer pressure to drop out and etcetera. Throughout my middle school years, she started
going back to school so I was able to see how she divided her time between her family, job, and
school. As a girl who didn t grow up in the best environment either but still wanting to one day have a
career, a family, and become a business owne,r I wanted to see how she overcame her odds.
I first wanted to hear about Mrs. Wrice s childhood and what encouraged her to stay on the right path.
She explained that since she was one of the younger siblings she watched and followed what some of
her older siblings did. Mrs. Wrice did most of her development according to Bandura s social learning
theory according to our textbooks definition. She would watch her sister study and work a job
determined to graduate high school and continue on to college. Another example she had was an older
brother that was a little rebellious and skipped school and stayed on

Chapter One Introduction
1. Back ground
In present competitive world and business environment things would not move in a steady way and as
planned. As a result for the past few years every organization and company follows the pattern of
strategic planning process. In most of business organization, besides creating strategic or business
plan, it will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, it is more important now than at any time in the history of marketing to really understand your
target market and to let this understanding drive not only your marketing decisions, but the entire
decision making framework of the company. (Hiebing Cooper, 2004:4).
Since the preference of customers vary from time to time and meeting their needs, wants and
expectation is an impressive challenge to service providers, strategic thinking of marketing could be
the best way to find the right track as competition is stiffer than the past trend. One to this developing
marketing strategy is crucial in business firms and as Orville C.Walker, Jr., et,al explained the primary
focus of marketing strategy is to effectively allocate and coordinate marketing resources and activities
to accomplish the firms objectives with in a specific product market. Therefore, the critical issue
concerning the scope of a marketing strategy is specifying the target market(s) for a particular product
or product line. Next, firms seek competitive advantage and synergy through a well integrated
program of marketing mix elements (Primarily the 4Ps of product, price, place, promotion) tailored to
the needs and wants of potential customers in that target market. (2004:12).
As the study of this paper is attributed to service providing firms like Tikur Abay Transport Share
Company it would be vital to examine the behavior of business service from theoretical point of view.

The Rhetorical Analysis Of William Faulkner s Barn Burning
Cold Metal, Hot Flame
William Faulkner s Barn Burning is a well versed rendition of the post Civil War era, about the lives
of a family of poor tenant farmers. This story s setting is in a fictional (yet almost familiar) county in
Mississippi, and is told through the eyes of a young boy. In a detached sort of tone, Faulkner takes us
step by step through the ups and downs of Abner s moods, and how his youngest son, Sarty, perceives
them. Here is the thesis statement: However, it is Faulkner s style, tone, and use of long, flowing
sentences, that most stand out to the reader. .
In Barn Burning , Sarty s father, Abner, shows hostility to everyone around him and adds an unspoken
element to the setting that you can feel and imagine as you read. You can instantly see how Sarty
views his father, always comparing him to a cold hard metal that is tempered by a hot flame: He could
see his father against the stars but without face or depth a shape black, flat, and bloodless as though
cut from tin in the iron fold of the frockcoat which had not been made for him, the voice harsh like tin
and without heat like tin (127). It is ironic for Abner to be compared to a cold metal, when he is totally
consumed with a fiery hatred. The reader can almost feel Abner s deep dislike of anyone who owns
anything or has money. Faulkner s descriptions are colorful, elaborate, and a key part of his style.
Focusing on Abner, the reader senses he thrives off seeking revenge when he feels wronged, and he
responds with his emotions and relates it to the destruction caused by fire. However, he only uses fire
in what he feels to be extreme circumstances, because the element of fire spoke to some deep
mainspring of his father s being, as the element of steel or of powder spoke to other men, as the one
weapon for the preservation of integrity, else breath were not worth the breathing, and hence to be
regarded with respect and used with discretion (127). Abner s mood is important to the setting in the
way that speaks openly about Southern hostility and how it is almost always bottled up inside until the
anger and resentment are no longer bearable. That s when the barns burn down.
From the reader s point of view, the tone of the

God s Predestination
In the articles, The Decree: Trinity and predestination , Creation: God s Time for Us , and Providence
God s Care for all He has made by Michael Horton we learn that the doctrine of God s predestination
of all things is clearly taught in scripture. Creation is not the result of primordial violence or conflict,
but the free decision, and generous, outgoing activity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in covenant love.
God s providence is his sustenance and governance of all things, including sin and evil, for good of his
people and the glory of his wisdom and grace in Christ. The author will provide several arguments for
each of the following terms: decree, creation, and providence.
To begin with, the author states that predestination is clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The creation narrative is not a myth, but an account of God s free historical act and his claim upon all
reality. The pattern of ex nihilo creation is a constant biblical parallel for the new creation language of
redemption. The doctrine of creation is at the heart of the sharp contrast between the biblical
worldview and the various monisms and dualisms of pagan ontologies. The author talks about creative
communication and the integrity of creation. He said that the Bible represents God s personal effective
speech. Humans were created as communicative partners in this covenant, to lead the rest of creation
in its hearing of God s speech and response of praise. He also presented beyond God of the gaps in
which he developed the God of the Gap apologetic and design and contingency. Finally in chapter ten,
he addressed I am the alpha and the omega : original, continual, and new creation in which he said that
God s act not only of preserving creatures but continually bringing about their fruitfulness and their
ongoing diversity. Furthermore in chapter eleven, he stated that providence is based on scripture.
There are three classes of scripture passages regarding providence such as soteriology, common grace,
and theodicy. Many Christians who have trouble accepting divine sovereignty in salvation
nevertheless recognize God s absolute lordship over nature and history. The author mention that
scripture does not say that God does all things himself, or that everything that happens is good in
itself, but that God works all things together for our good. He talks about concursus, or concurrence
which refers to the simultaneity of divine and human agency in actions or events. In permitting evil,
God not only lets it happen; he determines how far it will go and how he will work it for

Steps Of Decision Making Process
EXECUTIVE SUMARY 1. INTRODUCTION 2. FIVE STEPS OF DECISION MAKING PROCESS
Schiffman et al. (2011, pp. 460 481) maintain five steps of decision making process which are: 1.
Need recognition 2. Information search 3. Evaluation of alternative 4. Purchase decision 5. Post
purchase evaluation These five steps would be applied to describe the interviewee s decision making
process: 1. Need recognition The interviewee recognized his need when his old printer started to
malfunction a lot . It is time consuming to constantly fix it and replace things. He recognized it is time
to get something new. He stated the printer mostly just for printing and scanning but what he wanted is
a multi functional printer. 2. Information search The interviewee did not have a specific band choice
set before arriving at the office store. He comes to an office works store to see what brands they have
and saw a huge package of HP printer placed right in the front of the entrance with a special deal of
30% off the retail price. When he had seen that, he wanted to have the deal. He then examined the
price of the printer from other stores and do more research on the internet when he got home. The
interviewee prefer searching for the type ( functionality ) of the printer first and then for the price
when he use search engines. His references are consumer reviews on online blog sites and Amazon
site, commercial Web sites as well as printer tests on PC magazine sites. The interviewee marked the

Piaget Of The Infant Cognitive Development Essay
Background
In the context of infant cognitive development and its corresponding theories, Jean Piaget often serves
as a key theorist. Often referred to with the metaphor of children as explorers, Piaget believed that
children, from the moment of birth, are actively engaging with and exploring their surrounding
environment. With his contributions to the psychological field, like his six stages of sensorimotor
development, we grasp a better understanding of a child s first encounters developmentally. One of his
most important accounts was on the concept of object permanence. He was able to provide a look into
infants understanding of the physical world (DeHart, Sroufe, Cooper, p. 168). In order to better
understand his account on object permanence however, one must be aware of his six stages of
sensorimotor development: Reflexes, Primary Circular Reactions, Secondary Circular Reactions,
Coordination of Schemes, Tertiary Circular Reactions, and Beginnings of Representational Thought,
which were largely influence through his experiments with his own children. The first stage, Reflexes,
occurs from birth to 1 month. During this stage, Piaget asserted, infants are limited to their biological,
programmed reflexes. He uses the term reflex in a much more broad sense in that he refers it as ... any
built in behavior pattern instead of automatic responses to particular stimuli (DeHart, Sroufe, Cooper,
p. 164). These built in behavior patterns are not only

Strategic It Changes, Predicted Benefits, And Opportunity...
6. HBL Strategic IT Changes, Predicted Benefits, and Opportunity Cost:
Strategic HR ideas are difficult to implement as the HBL s HR system is outdated when compared to
the relatively newly established banks within the country. HBL engaged IBM s consultants to provide
them a new system. This system was capable of functionalities including:
An employee can see his/her basic data which includes basic profile, previous performance review,
annual leave, payroll, academic and professional qualifications, vocational training and archived of
achievements on various projects employees have worked during the number of years.
The objective to implement such ERP system was to develop a skills data bank within HR department
that can make it self sufficient for future work related resource allocations and could direct the leaders
into the right way to utilize the workforce as per their specialist skills. As per top management
predictions, once implemented the system could generate quantifiable synergies and a resultant
competitive advantage over rivals. The software could also be used for budgetary controls over
recruitment costs and help to identify the short term and long term employee training needs without
any policy constraints HBL currently have due to its bureaucratic culture. This way the bank could
have developed the swift response to its future workforce needs and help strengthen the long term
business sustainability in line with its corporate objectives.

World War 1 Propaganda Essay
One of the strongest weapons of World War 1 was not the nuclear bomb or even the hydrogen bomb,
but propaganda. The media reproduced atrocity propaganda, which was very powerful in World War 1.
This propaganda used visuals depicting atrocities the enemy had committed in a biased and unfiltered
way to ensure public hatred in their respective nations. Television was another reincarnation of
propaganda that was used to sway public opinion. After the end of World War 2 media coverage the
war proposed the enemy as a threat to national security which inflated domestic fear of imminent
destruction. A perfect example of this in the United States was the Red Scare in 1950 which was

Hoover targeted the alleged communist and covertly worked to bring down King and his movement.
Such accusations were instantly picked up by the media. Even if this type of accusation was not
completely unfounded, it was the fear of being identified as a Soviet that embedded a sense of cultural
antagonism into the minds of the American public. the media also did a great job in extinguishing any
and all domestic tenderness or sensitivity to the conflict as is the case for wars that are prolonged for a
long period of time. This of course was a deliberate or planned action to guarantee cultural antagonism
toward the enemy and a complete rejection of their political and economic policies. The media did not
stop at just television and print but also moved into film. the Red Nightmare, was a film that was
introduced into American standard curriculum. This is a prime example of how the media encouraged
state sanctioned indoctrination of the public. Undermining the actions carried out by the media would
be justified an atrocity against humanity. It was a conscious effort of the media to demean unpopular
opinion to fulfill its predisposed agenda. The ramifications of these actions were greater polarization

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Clotel Or The President s Daughter In the novel Clotel or The President s Daughter, Williams Wells Brown s use of irony as Europe, particularly France, as a pivotal setting for the liberation of African Americans from the bondage of slavery, by virtue of its political and social demeanor, contrasted from the United States of America. In the Letter Exchange between Benjamin Banneker and Thomas Jefferson, Banneker s letter reinforces the situational irony when he argues, Sir, suffer me to recall to your mind that time in which the arms and tyranny of the British crown were exerted with every powerful effort in order to reduce you to a state of servitude (253). Thus, this citation reminds Jefferson of his and his country s origin. The Letters of Exchange and scenes from the novel dramatize the oppression of enslaved African Americans while acknowledging the irony by assessing the persisting gap between America s founding principles and the ruthless existence of slavery. The publication of Clotel in London in 1853 is the first indication of irony, by assessing the persisting gap between freedom in Europe and the ruthless existence of slavery in America. Furthermore, it indicates to the reader African American status in U.S. culture. To begin, allow us discuss Thomas Jefferson, father of American Independence and a father of slave children. A free African American, Benjamin Banneker, contested the racialist views offered in Notes on the State of Virginia and challenged the Declaration of Independence as a ... • 3. Differences Between Malcolm X And Martin Luther King Government Approved Freedom Despite both Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. actively fighting for freedom and equality during the Civil Rights Movement, both men are not remembered equally. Undeniably, their approaches were different which resulted in conflicting ideals and different outcomes. These differences are highlighted through the comparison of Dr. King s Letter from Birmingham Jail to Malcolm X s speech of The Ballot or the Bullet . Both Malcolm X and Dr.King advocated for change regarding the treatment of the black community, but their perceptions of the timeline for change varied. Malcolm X was prepared to abandon the current system and separate the black community entirely to achieve immediate equality even if this called for violence. Whereas Dr. King advocated for all groups to think and act differently for total equality and true freedom. Ultimately, Dr. King understood that for complete change it might be a longer process, but he was willing to be respectful and encourage this movement peacefully. Considering the men sought different types of change to achieve their freedom, they had to target different audiences to advocate their plans towards. As Martin Luther King Jr. desired change throughout society and the systematic injustices, he had to target those who did not personally experience his inequality, but would still listen and respect him. As a minister and admired man of God, other church leaders were an ideal audience for Dr. King. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Crucible Love Triangle The love triangle between Abigail Williams, John Proctor and Elizabeth Proctor in The Crucible by Arthur Miller is best characterised by not only the theme of love, but also the themes of abhorrence and vengeance. This love triangle forms a predominant part of the play as it introduces the three main themes which allow Miller to develop the storyline and express the two sided nature of people in Salem. Abigail Williams, the biggest player in this triangle, is introduced as a cunningly deceitful person. She worked at the Proctor household previously and had an affair with John Proctor and now desperately wants to marry him. • 5. A Maximum Wage Research Paper People have different views about whether governments should introduce a maximum wage. While in some ways it may seem reasonable to allow people to earn as much as companies are willing to pay, I personally believe that employee remuneration should be capped at a certain level. There are various reasons why it might be considered beneficial to allow people to be paid extremely high salaries. If companies offer excellent pay packages, they can attract the most talented people in their fields to work for them. For example, technology companies like Google are able to employ the best programmers because of the huge sums that they are willing to pay. Furthermore, these well paid employees are likely to be highly motivated to work hard and therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on The Success of the McDonald’s Franchise Not having to answer to a corporate boss is the dream of many and the flexibility that owning a business franchise creates provides this option. Success is not reached by simply creating a business, however. The level of success is measured by the size and efficiency of the business. Business growth is the driving force of the economy. The additional jobs and revenues created when a business expands allow the economy to grow at exponential rates. One of the fastest and most popular ways to increase the size of a business is to turn it into a franchise, which can then be purchased by individuals. Franchising provides opportunities that are beneficial to both the parent company and the purchaser. The company that owns the business can expand ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McDonald s has extremely strict rules when it comes to awarding franchises. First, it is very costly to open a new location or purchase an existing location, with the median startup cost being $300,000 (Kalnins Lafontaine, 2004, p. 750). As well, the company does an extensive background check on a variety of issues including credit history, business management experience, and the acceptance of the contractual agreement that the company provides. Because of these strict rules and the large amount of capital needed to purchase a location, rates for franchise applicants are 1% for McDonald s (Norton, 1988, p. 204). This is an extremely low acceptance rate and is even lower than McDonald s chief competitor, Burger King, who accepts 1.5% percent of applicants (Norton, 1988, p. 199). These low numbers are understandable in the context of the business and risk that is involved. Though the franchise purchaser must pay a large amount of money to gain the rights to the restaurant, they truly have nothing to lose besides money because they are simply running another company s business model as well as using their trademarks and logos. McDonald s on the other hand, has a great amount at stake because they place the well being of an entire restaurant into the caretaking of an individual who simply purchased the rights for the store. If the store does poorly or if there are issues with customer service, it reflects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kanye West was able to extract the indescribable words of my thoughts and relate to me about what I want to do in my life. Growing up I had a wide variety of interests in learning about art, business, and fashion. I grew away from watching cartoon shows and was entertained by inspirational TV shows as an alternative. For instance, I watched Shark Tank, the Apprentice, and Project Runway. During Season 12 of Project Runway, I remember Heidi Klum introducing Nina Garcia with the title Creative Director . I never heard of the title Creative Director before, and I immediately did research to unfold what mysterious role this position held. Within that moment, I was finally out of the darkness and felt curiosity and motivation accumulate in my mind knowing a positive change was occurring for my future. Organizing the genetic base of complex diseases like pediatric cancer has been the hardest challenge scientists have had to overcome in order to understand the molecular background of certain disease (Hussain). In order to create a treatment with the hopes of ending childhood cancer, St. Jude Children s Hospital recognized the importance of designing a project that would allow them to organize the landscape of certain mutations commonly appeared in a specific disease. In January 2010, St. Jude Children s Research Hospital collaborated with Washington University to play an essential role in completing the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, an international effort to identify the genetic mutations that cause the formation of cancer tumors and to develop new treatments to target these illnesses. This three year, $65 million dollar project was developed in order to sequence the genetic orientation of over 600 pediatric tumors and non tumor germline samples. After the completion of this project, researchers were shocked at the success from this project (Downing). This study concluded that variations in repetitive DNA sequences, heterogeneity within tumor samples, and mutations affecting the regulatory regions of genes are the focus of the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project s team after completing their complex study of the genome ... • 11. Free Will In Virgil s The Aeneid Since the dawn of time, mankind has never been satisfied with this one life. There is always the lurking mystery of what lies afterward; even with no scientific proof that there is anything awaiting those who die, humans cannot accept that death is the end. The rich mythology of ancient Greek and Roman culture includes many tales of a sprawling, often chaotic Underworld, with areas reserved for those who have greatly sinned and are deserving of punishment as well for those who have been blessed with paradise. In Virgil s The Aeneid, we see a world that is controlled by Fate and whether somebody lives or dies, is punished or rewarded is left to the gods. Orwell s society thrives in the overbearing amount of power that is present. The government has an ability to manipulate by language and by the acceptance of technology. Winston, a young man living in this society, has a strong disfavor towards the Party. The government s way of controlling its people is by altering their realization of the world. Slogans, used by government officials, are statements that help enforce the control over people. War means the conflict between two parties, peace means an agreement between two parties. Thus making the slogan War is Peace. Slavery, in 1984, essentially means a person or group of people who are under some influence of another person. Freedom, as applied to this circumstance, means the absence of or release from ties and obligations. This then makes the second slogan, Freedom is Slavery. The last slogan is Ignorance is Strength . • 14. Analysis Of The Book Escape Of The Night By David F.... Escape David David Johnson hid under the bed in his room. The heavy footsteps drew closer, and David held his breath to try avoid detection. As the footsteps paused outside his door, David s heart began to pound with dread. His pounding heart made it hard to breath, and at only seven years old, David couldn t hold his breath for very long. It came out in a loud whoosh, and David shrank in terror as the footsteps beat like drums toward him. He had been found. The dusty hardwood bit into his shoulder as he tried to squeeze further under the bed. The legs of the lampstand seemed to wobble as the footsteps pounded closer. The spider man comforter hung down like a hand reaching out to save him. Across the room, the closet door was slightly open, revealing the white shelves that held his too small clothes. There were shadows on the sky blue walls from the dim light of the hallway, and David thought they looked like jagged monsters reaching out to get him. As he glanced back toward the oak door of his room, David s vision was blocked by two large boots with red wings on them. Dirt had been tracked across the floor, appearing to make the shadow standing above his bed even uglier. A large, calloused hand reached under the bed and roughly jerked David from under it, and snatched David by his unwashed, dirty blond hair. Get out here, you little twerp. He used that gun to shoot himself in the head, thus killing himself. Winston had swords and guns on the wall. They are in a crisscrossed pattern but one of the guns is missing. The reason as to why it is missing is because the missing gun is the gun that he is grasping in his hand. My mom says that with this much technology people have stopped communicating with their voices and are now always texting. No one spoke and it started to feel awkward. However I didn t have the courage to talk and break the silence. Logan took his phone out and started texting his friends. Mom finally broke the silence by saying, How is your weekend so far? She usually says somethings like how s your day , how is your weekend , or how are you doing with your life when she doesn t know how to start a conversation between people. Really good, I said actually starting the conversation. So why did you call us here? My mom and dad sighed and looked at eachother and my dad said, We have to ... move. My work got moved to Seattle. I was shocked, I had to have misheard him, I m sorry dad, but could you please repeat that. We going to have to move to Seattle, my dad repeated. Now I probably heard him right, but moving from Miami, Florida to Seattle, Washington. • 21. Hunted Out Language Analysis In chapter 3, the repeated phrase hunted out (or hunt out ) sticks out the most because the phrase is such a hard hitting and vivid word choice. The first time I noticed the use of this phrase was on page 63, Kingston explains that her mother wanted privacy, so she hunted out a secret hiding place at school. In this context, the use of hunted makes her seem like a scavenger, trying to find her own little habitat that she could mark as her own territory. Hunted is deliberate, instead of merely stumbling upon a secret place, which simply gives it more power. It gives it more power not only to the reader, but for Kingston as well because it s her word choice, and she wanted to convey her mother in a certain aspect. Using hunted as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hunt out is used here instead of hunted, which I think gives it a different connotation as well. Hunt is active and present, which coincides with the fact that she s using self defense against the Ghost. The final use of this that I noticed is on page 77. Kingston s mother hunted out seed shops, so now we re going back to the past tense of hunt. Both this third usage and the first usage of hunted gives the idea of her actions being premeditated. What I find most interesting about the general use of this phrase is that I connected immediately to the previous chapter, White Tigers, because Fa Mu Lan was a warrior; she trained, hunted, fought for survival. This connects to the use of hunt in that she is essentially giving her mother an undertone of Fa Mu Lan s characteristics, much like how she wants to attribute Fa Mu Lan s characteristics to herself. By giving her mother this attribute, it makes sense that she hunts for these things, whatever they may be, because she is a warrior in her own right, and it is only right for Kingston to describe her actions in this way in order to convey that she, too, is comparable to Fa Mu ... Beauty in this epic tale in The Iliad had the power to make any man do anything, Helen being a famous female character in this ancient time made the power of beauty strike. In this period of time walked many strong warriors, many famous warriors. But they all seemed to let Helen has the power. When being this beautiful I believe it came with a big price. She was blamed for the war. She was called the innocent, the guilty, the dangerous, the sinful, the irresponsible, and the woman who launched a thousand ships . She was blamed because these men were fools to her beauty. A woman s beauty can t possibly be the cause for all this death and destruction. ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to take stock regulatory infrastructure of the Indian securities market and see whether there exist well formulated laws with well defined scope and powers of the regulator, capable of presenting all investors in the Indian market with a level of playing field. We summarise some of the regulatory provisions that have evolved for tackling market misconduct and try to see what comes in the way of regulatory action aimed at investor protection in India, as compared with US which is perceived as the world s most safe and liquid capital market. We also discuss the roles the stock exchanges and electronic databases in aiding the regulator in prevention, detection and conviction of securities frauds. One tends to conclude that the scope of Indian securities laws which gave gradually evolved over time is now quite pervasive and the problem lies mostly in the enforcing compliance particularly for crimes such as price manipulation and illegal insider trading. Our discussion suggests that there remains need to ensure that laws/regulations are rationalised to completely empower SEBI to carry out its functions as the principle regulator, while SEBI in turn needs to drastically upgrade its surveillance process enabling to produce evidence that is credible enough to secure conviction. Review by Gloria Wan, Oxford College of Emory University The Penguin Books of Romantic Poetry includes a collections of romantic poetry from later eighteen centuries to the early nineteenth century. At the peak of Romanticism, there were many social and political changes occurred including the French Revolution, Napoleon s expansion in Europe, the Congress of Vienna, the conflict between conservatism and liberalism, Industrial revolution and so on. Romantic poets used poems to express their emotions of their love for nature, longing for the ancient legends, and they tried to use their emotions and feelings to understand the world around them including the French Revolution, slavery, industrial revolution and the Napoleonic war. However, after the Revolution of 1848, the wave of romanticism died out and realism emerged. Many romantic poetries praised the beauty and the power of the nature, and this can be seen as one of the characteristic of Romanticism. In the poem Ode to the West Wind by Percy Shelley, it talked about wind has the power to change the season from autumn to spring, and it can also bring rain and hail in the sky and waves in the ocean. Growing up wasn t smooth for her, she had many bumps she had to overcome to achieve her success. The Rhetorical Analysis Of William Faulkner s Barn Burning Cold Metal, Hot Flame William Faulkner s Barn Burning is a well versed rendition of the post Civil War era, about the lives of a family of poor tenant farmers. This story s setting is in a fictional (yet almost familiar) county in Mississippi, and is told through the eyes of a young boy. In a detached sort of tone, Faulkner takes us step by step through the ups and downs of Abner s moods, and how his youngest son, Sarty, perceives them. Here is the thesis statement: However, it is Faulkner s style, tone, and use of long, flowing sentences, that most stand out to the reader. . In Barn Burning , Sarty s father, Abner, shows hostility to everyone around him and adds an unspoken element to the setting that you can feel and imagine as you read. You can instantly see how Sarty views his father, always comparing him to a cold hard metal that is tempered by a hot flame: He could see his father against the stars but without face or depth a shape black, flat, and bloodless as though cut from tin in the iron fold of the frockcoat which had not been made for him, the voice harsh like tin and without heat like tin (127). It is ironic for Abner to be compared to a cold metal, when he is totally consumed with a fiery hatred. The reader can almost feel Abner s deep dislike of anyone who owns anything or has money. Faulkner s descriptions are colorful, elaborate, and a key part of his style. Focusing on Abner, the reader senses he thrives off seeking revenge when he feels wronged, and he responds with his emotions and relates it to the destruction caused by fire. However, he only uses fire in what he feels to be extreme circumstances, because the element of fire spoke to some deep mainspring of his father s being, as the element of steel or of powder spoke to other men, as the one weapon for the preservation of integrity, else breath were not worth the breathing, and hence to be regarded with respect and used with discretion (127). Abner s mood is important to the setting in the way that speaks openly about Southern hostility and how it is almost always bottled up inside until the anger and resentment are no longer bearable. • 32. God s Predestination In the articles, The Decree: Trinity and predestination , Creation: God s Time for Us , and Providence God s Care for all He has made by Michael Horton we learn that the doctrine of God s predestination of all things is clearly taught in scripture. Creation is not the result of primordial violence or conflict, but the free decision, and generous, outgoing activity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in covenant love. God s providence is his sustenance and governance of all things, including sin and evil, for good of his people and the glory of his wisdom and grace in Christ. The author will provide several arguments for each of the following terms: decree, creation, and providence. To begin with, the author states that predestination is clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The creation narrative is not a myth, but an account of God s free historical act and his claim upon all reality. The pattern of ex nihilo creation is a constant biblical parallel for the new creation language of redemption. The doctrine of creation is at the heart of the sharp contrast between the biblical worldview and the various monisms and dualisms of pagan ontologies. The author talks about creative communication and the integrity of creation. He said that the Bible represents God s personal effective speech. Humans were created as communicative partners in this covenant, to lead the rest of creation in its hearing of God s speech and response of praise. He also presented beyond God of the gaps in which he developed the God of the Gap apologetic and design and contingency. Finally in chapter ten, he addressed I am the alpha and the omega : original, continual, and new creation in which he said that God s act not only of preserving creatures but continually bringing about their fruitfulness and their ongoing diversity. Furthermore in chapter eleven, he stated that providence is based on scripture. There are three classes of scripture passages regarding providence such as soteriology, common grace, and theodicy. Many Christians who have trouble accepting divine sovereignty in salvation nevertheless recognize God s absolute lordship over nature and history. The author mention that scripture does not say that God does all things himself, or that everything that happens is good in itself, but that God works all things together for our good. He talks about concursus, or concurrence which refers to the simultaneity of divine and human agency in actions or events. In permitting evil, God not only lets it happen; he determines how far it will go and how he will work it for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Piaget Of The Infant Cognitive Development Essay Background In the context of infant cognitive development and its corresponding theories, Jean Piaget often serves as a key theorist. Often referred to with the metaphor of children as explorers, Piaget believed that children, from the moment of birth, are actively engaging with and exploring their surrounding environment. With his contributions to the psychological field, like his six stages of sensorimotor development, we grasp a better understanding of a child s first encounters developmentally. One of his most important accounts was on the concept of object permanence. He was able to provide a look into infants understanding of the physical world (DeHart, Sroufe, Cooper, p. 168). In order to better understand his account on object permanence however, one must be aware of his six stages of sensorimotor development: Reflexes, Primary Circular Reactions, Secondary Circular Reactions, Coordination of Schemes, Tertiary Circular Reactions, and Beginnings of Representational Thought, which were largely influence through his experiments with his own children. The first stage, Reflexes, occurs from birth to 1 month. During this stage, Piaget asserted, infants are limited to their biological, programmed reflexes. He uses the term reflex in a much more broad sense in that he refers it as ... any built in behavior pattern instead of automatic responses to particular stimuli (DeHart, Sroufe, Cooper, p. 164). • 38. World War 1 Propaganda Essay One of the strongest weapons of World War 1 was not the nuclear bomb or even the hydrogen bomb, but propaganda. The media reproduced atrocity propaganda, which was very powerful in World War 1. This propaganda used visuals depicting atrocities the enemy had committed in a biased and unfiltered way to ensure public hatred in their respective nations. Television was another reincarnation of propaganda that was used to sway public opinion. After the end of World War 2 media coverage the war proposed the enemy as a threat to national security which inflated domestic fear of imminent destruction. A perfect example of this in the United States was the Red Scare in 1950 which was exaggerated and shown on every media format of the time. Print was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hoover targeted the alleged communist and covertly worked to bring down King and his movement. Such accusations were instantly picked up by the media. Even if this type of accusation was not completely unfounded, it was the fear of being identified as a Soviet that embedded a sense of cultural antagonism into the minds of the American public. the media also did a great job in extinguishing any and all domestic tenderness or sensitivity to the conflict as is the case for wars that are prolonged for a long period of time. This of course was a deliberate or planned action to guarantee cultural antagonism toward the enemy and a complete rejection of their political and economic policies. The media did not stop at just television and print but also moved into film. the Red Nightmare, was a film that was introduced into American standard curriculum. This is a prime example of how the media encouraged state sanctioned indoctrination of the public. Undermining the actions carried out by the media would be justified an atrocity against humanity. It was a conscious effort of the media to demean unpopular opinion to fulfill its predisposed agenda. The ramifications of these actions were greater polarization between cultural identities and reinforced political ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
