Abigail Williams Essay
Crafting an essay centered around the character Abigail Williams can pose its own set of
challenges. Abigail Williams, a complex and controversial figure in Arthur Miller's play "The
Crucible," requires a nuanced approach. The difficulty lies in navigating the intricate layers of her
character, analyzing her motivations, actions, and the impact she has on the unfolding events in
the narrative.
Firstly, understanding Abigail's psychology demands a thorough exploration of her relationships,
both with other characters and with the historical context in which the story is set. Unraveling
her motives, whether driven by personal vendettas, fear, or a quest for power, requires a keen
literary analysis and an awareness of the broader themes in the play.
Moreover, the challenge extends to contextualizing Abigail within the social and historical
backdrop of the Salem witch trials. This involves delving into the societal norms, religious fervor,
and political dynamics that contribute to the hysteria gripping the community. Interweaving
these elements seamlessly into the essay adds another layer of complexity.
Furthermore, tackling the essay involves addressing the ambiguity surrounding Abigail's
character. Miller purposely leaves room for interpretation, making her both victim and
perpetrator. Balancing these contrasting facets requires finesse in argumentation and a deep
understanding of the play's subtleties.
In summary, crafting an essay on Abigail Williams demands not only a comprehensive
understanding of the character but also the ability to synthesize complex ideas and themes. It is a
task that requires analytical depth, interpretative skill, and a keen awareness of the historical and
literary context.
If you find yourself struggling with such a task, it's worth considering seeking assistance. There

John Swift s A Modest Proposal
In Jonathan Swift s satirical work, A Modest Proposal, the reader is presented with
a horrible concept using extremely effective language and logos; Swift uses strong
speech, rational tone, and complex grammar to convince readers that eating children
will solve all the problems in 19th century Ireland. Swift s overall goals in his
pamphlet, however, is not to actually encourage eating babies, which is why it is of
satire, but is instead to raise awareness of Ireland s conditions for living, failing
political figures, and the tyranny brought by England. Swift states in his sub title, For
Preventing the Children of poor People in Ireland, from being a Burden to their
Parents or Country; and for making them beneficial to the Public ... Show more

The idea is so intense that it demonstrates the overall irony of the piece. It is also
worth pointing out that this line comes late in the essay. Swift lulls the reader into
a false sense of trust by beginning with descriptions of the position of the poor in
Ireland. The reader may think at first that this is a serious essay, making the point
all the more loud when it eventually appears. The idea itself comes from a very
knowing American, which is a small attack on the Americas and American colonies.
Rhetorically, the first couple of quotes stated are the strongest in bringing attention
to Ireland s issues. It s comical in the fact that he uses such a horrible idea to raise
the red flags in the minds of the Irish people. In an earlier paragraph Swift writes, It
is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great town, or travel in the
country, when they see the streets, the roads, and cabin doors crowded with beggars
of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags, ad importuning
every passenger for an alms (Swift par.1). This quote should be understood as a
highlight to the poor living conditions of Ireland. The quote is interesting because
Swift does two things in it; he continues building his satire, which is the world the
reader will be thinking about, while nonchalantly hinting the underlining theme of
poor
Types Of Occupations Within The Workplace Essay
Often in the world there are jobs that come across as rather boring or tedious to
complete day in and day out. However, it is a must to keep these jobs as they allow
us to provide basic needs for ourselves in life. Some types of occupations consist of
a specialised job, with this, the five core job characteristics derived from the job
characteristics model also apply to these jobs. Furthermore, the five job features are
known to be skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback,
each having their own importance. By identifying the characteristics, three
redesigning techniques can be implemented being establishing client relationships
which are, combining tasks, establishing client relationships and vertically loading
the job. The specialised job holds the job characteristics and can be redesigned as
well to improve on some of those five task features.
Mortgage brokers are known to have very demanding jobs with having to settle
deals involving different types of investment properties, providing home loan
services and organise large amounts of documents. However, a mortgage broker
may take upon a business intern or administrator which is a specialised job, these
individuals look after their documents and organise all their client files. A specialised
job can be further defined as a job composed of a small part of a larger task or
process (Williams McWilliams 2014, p. 156). A business intern seems like a fancy
name, but a primary job for them would

Establishments that wish to effect smaller changes will also need to focus on:
management structures, personnel policies, operating policies, and workers skills.
Therefore, it is imperative that an effective understanding of the organisation is
made so as to identify its needs and problem. This is sequel to the type of
intervention technique adopted. There are several intervention strategies that can be
adopted. Several assumptions about the nature and functionality of organizations are
made in the choice of a particular strategy. Some of these assumptions are: * The
main building blocks of an organisation are groups (teams). Which therefore makes
the basic unit of change to be groups and not individuals * A major relevant change
direction is to reduce inappropriate competition between units of the organisation
and fostering of a more collaborative approach. * Decision making in an ideal
organisation is found where the information sources are, and not where a particular
role or level of hierarchy is. * Organisations, smaller units of organisations and
individuals perpetually manage their affairs against goals. Controls are transient
measurements, and not the basis of managerial strategy * One nature of an ideal
organisation is to develop open communication, mutual trust and confidence * People
generally will support what they assisted to build. Employees affected by a
Literacy Is A Fundamental Basis Of A Student s Academic...
Literacy is a fundamental basis of a student s academic success. Without the skills of
language, reading, and writing, children will have limited academic, economic,
social, and emotional success in school and later in life (Maddox Fung, 2013, p.3).
According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, 33% of U.S. students
in elementary schools read below the basic readinglevel (NAEP, 2009). During this
time, the Common Core initiative was in works to ensure that all students across
America were graduating high school ready for college, career, and life. In 2010, a
majority of the United States adopted the Common Core State Standards [CCSS].
Within these expectations the language, reading, and writing strands were
developed for all grade levels. These three strands were developed to prepare
children to become literate. The CCSS are the most effective way to implement goals
for literacyeducation, for American students to succeed not only in school, but in the
future. First, it is important to understand what it means to be literate and why
being literate is important in today s society. To be literate today means much more
than being able to read and write. For a child today, it means that they are better
able to create, critique, and analyze material. It is important to obtain these skills due
to the rise in technology. Children need to be able to read, analyze, and evaluate
what they find online in order to succeed in school. Building upon these skills
Digital Technology And Its Impact On The Classroom Essay
In and of themselves, wikis, blogs, podcasts and microblogging will do very little to
transform digital writing or learning in general. It s really not the tool or digital
space that can transform or enhance learning. It is what is done there and how the
tool is used by teachers and students alike. However, as I think the articles captured,
when used effectively these digitaltools have the potential to develop critical digital
literacies.
In Wikis as Learning Environments, Forte and Buckman report their findings of
using a wiki to represent traditional research. The students in the study reported
enjoying using the wiki and publishing their work even though they struggled with
the translation of the traditional research paper to that of creating a public website.
They seemed to realize that they were involved in something bigger than just
writing a paper for the teacher , knowing the site could be a resource that lives on
after the class. Forte and Buckman stress when the research paper went online it
became something different. The genre changed and the students initially struggled
to understand what that meant. Throughout the process of creating the wiki the
students were able to learn from each other. The nature of the wiki s collaborative
editing and revision history allowed the students to look at each other s work all
throughout the process. In doing so, they began to create a shared vision of what this

Why Is Brian Mulroney Powerful
Throughout Canadian history there have been many influential political leaders in
the past, but none as powerful or significant as Brian Mulroney. Through political
criticism, Brian Mulroney served as the longest Prime Minister in Canada. All

Brian Mulroney signed the Nunavut Settlement Agreement to secure Canada as a
better country and a better place to live. The settlement consisted of two things. The
1st thing that the settlement was consisting of was the Arctic Islands and mainland
Eastern Island. The 2nd thing the settlement consisted of was the Belcher Island, and
its association with the marine areas. The agreement that was signed on July 9, 1993

Correlation Between Music and IQ in Children Essay
1. Introduction
This project investigates the effect which the playing of a musical instrument namely
the drums has on one s intelligence and academic ability. A search of the literature
reveals that studies of this kind have been conducted by other researchers in many
parts of the world and has led to the conclusion that music is an extremely healthy
activity to be involved in.
A study conducted on school children in America concluded that children who took
voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not
(Munsey, 2006). Dye (2012) reinforces this, stating that scientific research shows that
studying music improves school performance. Gaser and Schlaug (2003) showed that

The aim of this study is to ascertain whether learning to play the drums increases one
s IQ score or not. Will learners who take daily drum lessons for two weeks improve
their intelligence by improving their memories and having their brains stimulated?
2.Review of Literature
A number of studies showing the relationship between the playing of musical
instruments and IQ development are discussed below. A few studies on the effect of
drum lessons on brain development are also considered.
2.1 Correlation between Music and IQ in children
In Canada, Schellenberg conducted a study on school children and college students
and concluded that those who took voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the
end of the year than those who did not (Munsey, 2006). Schellenberg also studied
whether the effect of an increase in IQ would continue to improve with more than a
year s lessons and his most recent work has proven that this is in fact the case. The
study found that young adults who had taken music lessons in childhood did have
higher IQ s and better high school grades than people who didn t. He concluded that
college students who had played a musical instrument regularly as children were two
points ahead in IQ compared to their
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Treadmills
People around the world are looking for the best treadmill brands that can be used
for home. Treadmills are devices or work out machines that make the user walk
while staying at the same place. Users can also run on these machines as fast as they
want to. Treadmills are great machines that can improve one s stamina and speed.
Some people also use these machines to train animals such as dogs and horses. The
treadmillwas introduced even before the experts developed the power machine. The
idea of the power machine came from manpower operated mills that used people and
animals to make it run. These mills were operated by animals such as horse,
donkeys, and cow that grinded the grain to make flour out of it.
Now, people are using treadmills as workout machines or exercise machines that
would keep them in shape or increase their power. A treadmill has a platform that is

How Does Fatty Acid Contribute To The Production Of
Glucose
An individual engaged in vigorous exercise demands much more energy than a
sedentary individual. The supplied energy during a 100 meter sprint or a marathon
run comes at a cost, which is the production of ATP (Hill et al.). At the beginning of
exercise the body relies on the glycogen stores in muscle that aids in ATP production.
Eventually, glucoselevels in muscles begin to decrease as the activity continues, it s
also thought that insufficient glucose causes tiredness (Hill et al.) . Glucose must be
provided continuously in order to satisfy one s energy demands. Consequently,
glucose is delivered by blood to the muscles. Fatty acids also contribute to the
process of generating energy when glucose levels are low, which are broken down to
Hatred In The Time Machine By H. G Wells

dimension. The Time Traveler proved his theory by making a mini time machine
and making it disappear. His group of friends end up coming again, and find the

Later on the Time Traveler finally had finally finished his last touches on the time

this society to be a form of communism. Even the names of the Morlocks and Elio
we notice the difference. The word Eloi itself sounds like the word elite, and Morlock
is a perfect word to describe a cruel, ruthless ape like creature. Everything about
these two beings points toward the Time Traveler s theory that he is at the top of
civilization, where the two major classes of society have become so set in their
positions. As we later find out, there are two distinct classes, set in their ways to
the point where there is no social exchange, but it is not the Eloi who rule the

been linked to the degradation and shrinking of the Aral Sea following their

academically regarding the situation in the Aral Sea, stated that the Soviet
government attempted to make the entire region a large scale independent cotton
producer ultimately led to the Aral Sea to become a catastrophic experiment in
environmental responsibility (Morris 1990). This production of cotton, which is seen
as an economic product for many countries worldwide, would utilize a very harsh

their needs, they would utilize upstream irrigation arrangements for growing rice and

However different their journeys may be, there are always certain elements that are

Elizabeth s Speech To The Troops
Elizabeth I (1533 1603) was the daughter of the King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn.
She occupies the throne of England when she has 25 years old, after the dead of her

public relations ever to occupy the English throne. Highly intelligent, Queen Elizabeth
I of England(reigned 1558 1603) could speak and read six languages, and dazzled
her court with both her superb literary skills and her political know how. She wrote
poems, letters, sermons, and masterful speeches, such as the Tilbury Speech, she was

Elizabeth is saying that she is prepared to die in defence of the kingdom. The
specific purpose of this speech was to incite the bravery to her troops so that they
were ready for the battle and to unify the country, its people with the kingdom and
God. The general purpose of this speech was to stablish herself a worthy sovereign
for whom they should be willing to fight for. We can see that in the paragraph I
know I have the body but of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a
king, and of a king of England, too . She even put herself in the shoes of men in
order to appear more reliable as a ruler. She do that because during those times
having a woman as a ruler was not favourable so she wanted to gain the support of
her kingdom. She is constantly referring to things as hers: my people , my
kingdom , my honor etc. Another word she uses repetitively is you and your . In
essence this disturb up a sense of national pride and gives them responsibility to
defend their queen and country. Elizabeth saw herself as a virgin married to
England, so an attack on the country was an attack on her and her virginity. Queen
Elizabeth s Tilbury Speech conveys how deeply she loved her country and her
people. The queen s beliefs are revealed in her patriotic tone: the words, images,
and details she uses to make her point. Elizabeth s powerful use of language and
courageous tone is meant to inspire her listeners. She is prepared to take up arms
alongside her people to drive out all threats to her kingdom. In all over the speech
she uses first person narration in order to gain the empathy of her troops. Using
the first person I , she tries to convince the troops of her own bravery and strength I
have always behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength... I

Coal as a Resource Is It Ethical
In our modern society there is a constant give and take environment over energy.
The use of fossil fuels and coal has become politically incorrect in our green centric

companies that make use of fossil fuels. There is an economic incentive for these
companies to downplay the potentially harmful nature of these energy sources. While
the usage of coaland other fuels is easy, it is also seen by many as environmentally

part of economy in the more Southeastern region of the United States. According to
the West Virginia Office of Miners Health, safety and Training, coal mining makes up
more than $3.5 billion dollars annually in the gross state product list. (Rhodes 1)
This is perfect example how important coal is to our country and how much we use
it. Also it is stated that by Rhodes that there are over thirty thousand jobs in West
Virginia alone that are set up around coal mining. It is incredibly difficult to work
against an industry that employs so many people, especially with the economic
crisis we have been in. The main problem is extracting the coal from its sources, or
mines can pose as a huge risk to lives of those employed in such tasks. A perfect
example of this is when in April 2010 in Montcoal, West Virginia at the Upper Big
Branch Mine where high methane levels were detected. The methane caused an
explosion that killed twenty nine out of thirty one of the miners. There is also carbon
dioxide gases emitted into the atmosphere once coal is burned for fuel, and that has a
negative impact on our environment. This can eventually lead to global climate
change, among other things. According to Coal and Global Warming which was

Of the three companies, Apple had the highest proportion of current assets relative to
fixed assets. On average, Apple s current assets stood at more than 85% of all its

current assets points to high inventory lagging the companies stores.
Total assets relative to total liabilities have been relatively stable at around 53 69

financing using equity rather than debt.

Computer industry
The global computer industry is at its growing phase of evolution. The industry is
driven by high rate of product turnover and short product cycle. Forms invest heavily
in research and development to come up with products that satisfy customers
frequently changing tastes. Continued success in the industry requires cutting edge
innovation, short product development time, ability to mass produce to realize low
per unit cost and ability to manage costs. Going forward, companies that invest in
research and development are likely to have the highest potential for growth (Shelly,

The Notion Of A Garden As A Metaphor For Curriculum
Ross (2000) article Curriculum Gardening explores the notion of a garden as a
metaphor for curriculum in education. According to the Catholic Education Office
Sydney (2014), the curriculum is not just a document, but a framework that is put in
place to nurture student learning and allow students to be engaged in meaningful and
purposeful learningexperiences that will create life long learners. It is Ross view that
Curriculum Gardening is a sound metaphor, because just like a garden students are
given the chance to grow and learn.
It is the author s view that in education, the nature of curriculum is continuously
changing and as educators we have not yet found a successful curriculum . Ross
(2000) suggests that a reform of the curriculum needs to be undertaken and that as
educators we need to continuously evaluate and critically challenge our
curriculum frameworks for the growing changes in society. He continues his
metaphor and uses the imagery of a garden to highlight what gardens are used for
by society. Ross (2000) suggests that gardens can be used for a number of different
purposes; whether it be to provide food, as a means of exercise, for leisure reasons
or simply as a means of relaxation. He also asks the question who are gardens for?
and what is their purpose (Ross, 2000, p.2). Ross (2000) uses this metaphor to argue
the importance that when developing a curriculum, educators first need to consider
what the purpose of the curriculum is and who is the
A Whole New Mind Summary
The Conceptual Age In A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the
Future, Daniel Pink explained that we are moving from an Information Age built
on the sequential, logical, analytical skills of the knowledge worker towards the
Conceptual Age, where creators and empathizers will lead society. Right Brain
Rising In the Conceptual Age, it will not longer suffice to rely heavily on the logic
of the left brain. Computers, cheaper sources and labor will continue to lead to
outsourcing of this work; instead, creativity and innovation will give rise to future
development. To prosper in the Conceptual Age, people will need to weave together
the logic of the left brain (L directed thinking) and the creativity of the right brain (R

Race and Caribbean Culture
Race and Caribbean Culture Each culture is unique in its attitudes about which
groups within the cultural community will comprise the majority and which the
minority. The culture also determines how the minority culture will be treated and
how the two groups will be classified. Often, differentiation of groups is determined
by race, rather than things like religion or class. Throughout literary history,
authors have endeavored to capture the past as well as recreate and articulate
sociological inequalities within that past. Issues of race, being one of the primary
examples of social inequality, often appear in controversial and important works of
literature. In the Caribbean Sea, people have had to deal with centuries of racial
prejudices and sociological inequity, since the first explorers arrived on the island
and demanded that those with darker skins become the slaves of those with light
skin. Three particular works of literature, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, The
Kingdom of This World by Alejo Carpenter, and The Farming of Bones by author
Edwidge Danticat have recreated the historical scenarios of life in the Caribbean
during the time of oppression of the native peoples by white Europeans and shows
just how disturbing and destructive attitudes of superiority and inferiority regarding
racial differences can truly be. Perhaps the most famous example of literature
regarding Caribbean oppression is Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys. In this novel, a

To what extent have constitutional reforms since 1997 made the UK more
democratic?
There have been many constitutional reforms since 1997 that is progressive towards
a more democratic system, however it is not a complete democracy and there are still
parts of the constitution could be improved. In 1997 Labour government came to
power, with tony blair as prime minister, later Gordon Brown came to power between
2007 to 2010 have made a series of constitutional reforms. This was due to the fact
that many practices of british politics were out of date, and therefore sought to
modernise the constitution. Another main issue was that the central parliament,

Another benefit to the reforms is that the prime minister appoints members based
on their profession, for instance the majority of the life peers that are in the house
of lords are lawyers which indicates expertness in the skill of observing, as a result
the reformed house of lords frequently defeat government. On the other side you
could argue that the reform is still incomplete, and that Tony Blair initial aim when
he came to government, was to have a fully elected house of lords, in this case
would have been more democratic. Due to elected politicians in the house of lords
many appointed members by the Prime Minister are part of his own party which
can ais the Prime Minister in decision making which creates worse legitimacy. The
second reform of the constitution is the Human Rights Act that was Labour s first
major reform, that came in act in 1998. Before the Human Rights Act the Uk was
part European Convention of Human rights that was adopted in 1950. The human
rights(HRA) Act came into force in 2000 in the Uk. The HRA has the effect of of
codifying the protections in the European convention in the Uk law. This act created
a Uk bill of right that is more suitable to represent the population living in the Uk,
because of adopting the convention to the needs of britain; this allows British judges
to suggest their own way of Judging based on the British culture which is more

the elderly will find themselves living alone and in isolation. Many times caregivers

status of the elderly. When alone the mental, physical and even the nutritional status
of the older person can be affected. Trying to get the person to accept that they are

impact on the elderly. This paper discusses issues of isolation and the elderly.
Isolation, solitude, seclusion and loneliness. Typically, these are not terms we relate
to as we think about retirement and our golden years in life. Unfortunately, this is
the reality of so many of our elderly population. As the Baby Boomer generation
approaches retirement age, isolation and seclusion are likely to reach epidemic
proportions. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines isolation as the state of being
in a place or situation that is separate from others: the condition of being isolated
(Merriam Webster, 2016). Isolation at times can be deliberate. Some individuals
chose to separate themselves from community or persons in effort to have privacy. In
this aspect we can accept those individuals wishes to remain isolated. There are so
many people who find themselves isolated from other people and communities
against their wishes. Most would agree that there are very

Translated from Swedish to English, the 18 item IPSA describes anxiety provoking
situations, rated on a 0 to 4 Likert scale (range 0 to 72), ranging from no anxiety to
max distress . Also translated from Swedish, the IPSAV comprises of the same items
as the IPSA. The situations, however, are measured for avoidance on a scale of 0 to 2
(range 0 to 36), with 0 being never and 2 being always . Results
Jane had a score of 45 on the IES R (Appendix E). On this test, a score higher than
24 can be meaningful. Jane s score of 45 falls into the range of 37 or more , which
has a consequence of the symptoms being high enough to suppress one s immune
system s functioning, even 10 years after an impact event. Comparatively, this
translates to a score of approximately 39, on the original IES. According to Jane s
results on the IES R, she experienced symptoms from the three sub scores avoidance,
intrusion and hyperarousal.
Moreover, the considerably high scores of 48 and 31 on the IPSA and IPSAV
(Appendices C and D) respectively, further reinforces the anxiety and avoidance
symptoms that Jane experienced. This gives us the consensus that Jane was under
tremendous distress as a result of the ongoing traumatic experience of self injecting.

Taking a Look at the Crusades
The Crusades of the middle ages were an extremely important part of history,
although it was very gruesome and unnecessary at the same time, an oxymoron. I
say it was important only because it had an impact on the world we live in today. It
could be a very different world if the crusades would have never occurred and I
believe traditional Roman Catholicism would be much more popular nowadays. The
concept of the crusadesseems wrong in the modern morals, but at the same time it
seemed completely right and justifiable.
The politics of Western Europe in the eleventh century was a one of a kind. The pope
believed Europe was being threatened by the Byzantine Empire, (a Christian empire
itself), and the Mohammedan tribes. The first crusades began in 1095 A.D.,
Christian forces followed Pope Urban II s orders to wage war upon the Holy Lands
and reclaim them. Soon armies of not only knights, but pilgrims, including women
and children were headed east by the thousands. They were pushed forward by
religious ambition, divine promise; they were fighting for what they believed was
crucial to their beliefs and divine purpose. It is truly amazing to me the dedication
these people had for something they had never seen or heard. It was true faith
nonetheless. At this time in Western Europe, Roman Catholicism was extremely
influential upon society and the pope was basically worshipped; he was their
guidance, their connection to god.
In 1071 the Byzantine army was destroyed by the Turkish and

1 Introduction 1.1Purpose of report
The economic impact of Starbucks on the UK economy
June 2013
The objective of this report is to investigate the economic contribution of Starbucks to
the UK economy.
This contribution is quantified in terms of impacts from:
пЂЃ The operation of Starbucks in the UK; пЂЃ The supply chain effects created by
Starbucks purchases of inputs from elsewhere in the UK economy. пЂЃ The
consumer expenditure of Starbucks staff and those employed directly in its supply
chain spending their wage income.
The report also discusses aspects of Starbucks UK operations that are likely to play
a more diffuse role in supporting the performance of the overall economy and the

1.3An introduction to economic impact analysis
A standard economic impact assessment identifies three channels of impact that stem
from an activity:
пЂЃ The direct effect encompasses the economic activity generated at Starbucks
stores and other operational locations in the UK.
пЂЃ The indirect effect encapsulates the activity supported in Starbucks UK based
supply chain as a result of its procurement of inputs of goods and services. It should
be noted that this supply chain impact relates to current expenditures only. In
Starbucks case this channel of impact includes the supply chain behind the operation
of its outlets in the UK, plus the inputs UK suppliers sell into other parts of Starbucks
global business.
пЂЃ The induced effect captures the impact of staff employed as a part of the direct
and indirect effects spending their wages. This supports activity at the retail and
leisure outlets they visit and their supply chains.
1.4The metrics of economic impact
In accordance with standard economic impact assessments, the scale of Starbucks
impact is measured using two key metrics:
пЂЃ Gross value added Gross value added (GVA) is the contribution an institution,
company or industry makes to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).1 GVA is most simply
understood as turnover (i.e. value of sales) minus the cost of bought in goods and
services used up in the production process.

Swot Analysis For A Pharmacy
Every business has its strength, weakness, opportunities and threats. These days
most of the businesses do SWOT analysis for improvement. I work at a leading
pharmacy in Newark, so I decided to do a SWOT analysis on it. This pharmacy
started business in 2012. I chose this business because it is the ideal business to do
the SWOT analysison, as it has its advantages and disadvantages. The SWOT
analysis allowed me to find all the flaws as well as advantages of the pharmacyas well
as ways to improve and to protect it from threats. If a business has many
weaknesses, the SWOT analysis can help the workers and owners of the business
become aware of it and can allow them to improve the business. So no harm or
disadvantages come from doing the SWOT analysis.
First advantage of the SWOT analysis is it identifies the strength of the business.
The pharmacy I work at has location, long term customers, and the acceptance of all
health insurances as its strength. The pharmacy I work at does not have any
competitors nearby, the customers are regulars and only get their medication from
here, and accepting all health insurances allows us to have more customers. The
more customers, the more profit. The long term customers allow us to be insured
that our customers are loyal to us and will continue with our service. Being
conscience of all your business s strengths allows you to also see its weaknesses.
Believe it or not, but being aware of your businesses weaknesses is beneficial for you.

but without the women none of the duties would have been finished. They served
and equal role in making the plantation work and weren t given the credit they

Women s rights have improved drastically since that time but there still is a stigma

Ever since she announced that she is running she has kept quiet not saying much.
This may be a very good stratagie. Her campaign strategy seems to be a lot more laid
back. She seems to have more self effacing humor. I think that she has a very good
likelihood of winning. She is very well known and is doing really good in the polls.
The second candidate I choose was Jeb Bush. Jeb Bush, the former governor of
Florida, has announced he is entering the race for the Republican presidential
nomination. A lot of his supporters will be from right of center republicans.
Another group that will be major support will be the concervatives who are
concerned with choosing a nomine that is electable. Republicans are ready to be

Social Changes During The Meiji Restoration Of Japan
Introduction
The Meiji Restoration, a significant era in Japanese history, saw the abolishment of
the feudal system of the Tokagawa period. With this, many social changes occurred
which assisted in the modernisation of Japan and its culture. The Tokugawa period
consisted of many social groups who were ordered in what was considered powerful
to powerless. When the Meiji era began, many changes occurred which affected
Japan s social structure and foreign relationships. Major changes occurred in the roles
of the Emperor, Samurai and Peasants during the Meiji period and the modernisation
also assisted in fundamental changes such as diet, clothing and education.
Japan s feudal system in the late Tokugawa period
During the late Tokugawa period, with feudalism in place, there were different
classes which all had distinct roles. Feudalism was the social system in which people
were given protection in return for loyalty. (http:/

The Emperor regained political, economic and military power, which meant that
he was in full power and control of Japan. The Samurai had been the warriors for
the Daimyo but their services were no longer required. During the Meiji period,
the Samurai were forced to remove their topknots, as they symbolised the power of
the Samurai. The Samurai were declared to retire their armed weapons/swords and
lost all feudal privileges. (http://afe.easia.columbia.edu/) The Samurai The
peasants had the advantage of marrying outside of their social class. The Meiji
period also allowed the peasants to own their own land but they had to pay taxes to
the new government which kept them poor. They were also allowed to be elected to
positions in government. As a result, all social classes were declared equal and had a

Haroun And The Sea Of Stories Essay
Haroun and the Sea of Stories Essay
Storytelling plays an important role in people s lives. In Haroun and the Sea of
Stories, Salman Rushdie explores the vital role stories have in the lives of
multiple characters. Politicos need stories in their lives in order to succeed.
Without stories, the politicos would never be able to persuade or convince voters
in an interesting way. The stories Rashid Khalifa tell are a vital part of his everyday
life. Without the tales he spins, Rashid wouldn t have a job and the city he lives in
would be completely devoid of happiness. Stories have been important in the
shaping of the Haroun at the end of the book. If Haroun had no stories, his
childhood would have been dark and he wouldn t have followed the hero path.

Compare And Contrast Essay On Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City chiefs are a football team in the nfl. My favorite football
team.some people think they suck but that s there opinion. like just yesterday
hunter said the Chiefs suck so I say the Seahawks suck and then he gets mad and
says there better than the Chiefs. And I say there record definitely doesn t say that
there better and then he just walkes away. But anyway the Chiefs play in the AFC

Why Marijuana Should Be Legal
Valid Argument? You Must Be High
It seems as though everyone has their own opinion when it comes to the
legalization of marijuana. The question spans all age groups, races, and religions.
You will hear different answers from individuals under each group. Some view the
use of the substance as a sin and believe that the use should be a crime and others
view it as a freedom that each citizen should be granted. Marty Nemko, a Ph.D.
holding, education evaluation specialist, says otherwise. In his article published by
TIME magazine, Nemko goes into details as to why he believes legalizing marijuana
will have far more consequences than it does reward. His points seem as though they
would be valid, however his argument is stretched and very weak. Nemko uses
irrational logic, slanted, biased data, and opinion based assumptions to attempt to
persuade readers to join his cause. At first glance, Nemko s article seems as though
it is full of logical reasons as to why marijuana should stay illegalized in the United
States. The problem lies in his arguments. One of Nemko s main points of
emphasis is what the drug would do to children. If his argument was against the
legalization of marijuana for all ages, this would have sound reasoning. However,
Nemko is not arguing this proposal. The argument in discussion is to legalize
marijuana for adults, and Nemko argues for a large portion of his paper about a
group of people who will not be affected by the law. Nemko makes the assumption
that
Characteristics Of Bespoke Documents
Outcome 3
3.1 Explain the characteristics of bespoke documents.
Bespoke business documents are documents individually or customised to meet a
specific requirement or purpose within a specific business. They are personalised to
suit each business and can include forms, publicity materials, invoices, business cards
, spread sheets, databases, letterheads, presentations, catalogues, reports, proposals
etc. These are important because it places a professional image on your company,
which will attract new potential customers or will keep your current customers
interested. It is important to take into consideration when creating bespoke
documents that the purpose is to give a good impression to other businesses or
customers, therefore, documents need to be professional and well thought out. An
untidy, poorly designed document can severely affect an organisation s reputation
with its stakeholders. Documents need to be consistent throughout, this means the
organisation s logo needs to be the same on all documents produced, as well as the
general theme, for example, you must use the same font and style like: bold/italic
/underlined etc. Also, it is preferably that in business documents should use no more
than two different fonts, as it may seem unprofessionally with more than two fonts.
Fonts need to be readable, as well as in the correct size; headings need to be larger
than the main body of the text in order to differentiate, and there should also be
plenty of white space in

a team of forensic scientist that go on calls and process a crime scene. They collect
evidence to prove who was and who wasn t at the scene of the crime. They all are
basically the same show but they have different actors and actresses for each show.
They also have different settings. While I was doing some research I came across
an article titled CSI: Reality by Max Houck he basically talks about what the
differences are between the real thing and what are just famous people acting out
and being filmed (Houck par 1 16). The job at hand is based upon dealing with
challenging work. Forensic science isn t just all about mixing mysterious chemicals

Sir Gawain And The Green Knight Essay
Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is a chivalric romance. The romance is by the
Gawain Poet; although it was translated by John Gardner. It is very interesting and
has a shocking climax. The Green Knight arrives in the beginning of the story, New
Year s Day to be exact. He arrives asking to play a game, while King Arthurand his
knights celebrate. The Green Knight arrived unarmed, with no shield neither spear
shaft. King Arthur stares bravely at the Green Knight. The game which the Green
Knight wanted to play consisted of someone striking him with his own ax, wherefore,
the person who accepts will receive the same (a srike with the ax) a year later.
Shocked that no one came forward, the Green Knight coughed in embarrassment. He
looked at King Arthur and his knights as honorable men. King Arthur then accepts,
but Sir Gawaincomes forward and takes it. Because of Sir Gawain being the striker,
he will have to come forward a year later. Sir Gawain will face many challenges

then confronts Sir Gawain. He admits that he was the Lord and him and his wife

wearing is his. Although he failed to mention the sash, the Green Knight invites Sir
Gawain to celebrate New Year s with them. In embarrassment, Sir Gawain
Biography of Nathaniel Hawthorne
The tall and mysterious Nathaniel Hawthorne is a man of little understanding. We
know him for being very secluded and alone much of the time. We also know he
had many secrets that may have accounted for the gloomy tone in his novels. He
was a writer who did not believe in the game of small talk and enjoyed losing
himself to a world of this own creation. Many people might have thought that
Hawthorne came off as rude and uninteresting, but they had no idea of the
masterpieces that laid inside his head. The work of Nathaniel Hawthornewas most
influenced by his solitary personality and Puritan background. Born on July 4,
1804, in Salem, Massachusetts, Hawthorne was brought up by a family with a
long New England history. Hawthorne had many relations to significant Puritans
and judges of the Salem Witch Trials. Especially known is Hawthorne s great great
grandfather, John Hathorne, a judge who oversaw the Salem witch trials. He is
also known for being one of the few who never repented his actions. Because of his
family background, Hawthorne added a w to his name once he started publishing
in order to distinguish himself. At the age of four, Hawthorne s father, a sea
captain, died of yellow fever, leaving his mother to raise him. His mother withdrew
to a life of seclusion, which she maintained till her death. The reclusive personality
of Hawthorne s mother most likely shaped his own personality as well. Even so,
Hawthorne showed a love of writing early on, and at the age of

get your feet on the running track.
1.Burns Calories
Okay, this one is an obvious but major benefit of long distance running. Nothing else
can burn your calories like a long run can. Do you know that running burns calories
faster than any other physical activity or exercise in the world. It turns your body
into a fat burning machine. You can burn more than 500 calories in a single 30
minute run. Running for long distances helps in improving after burn capabilities of
your body, which means that your body is capable of burning fat even after running.
Apart from burning some serious calories, running also improves your metabolism,
which means that your body can now process more calories efficiently. Thus, it
prevents calories from becoming body fat in the first place.
2.Better Sleep
One of the major advantages of long distance running is that it improves the overall
quality of your sleep. It also positively affects your sleeping patterns. Regular long
distance runners sleep faster and deeper for longer intervals of time without waking
up. It is also known that individuals who run long distances are less likely to develop

The Stages of Childhood Development
CHAPTER 01: Preschool child
1.1 Preschool child
Preschool age is basically identified as year three to six. In psychology this age
group categorize as early childhood . This early childhood stage is more imperative
in the child development and their learning procedure. That s why the concept of
preschool has come to play.
Preschoolers are always on the move, exploring their world with excitement, curiosity,
and an apparently endless source of energy. The capacity of learning in this stage is
enormous. They learn and develop from each experience, association, and adventure
that they meet. Having the enough space and opportunity to discover objects and
playing environments helps preschool child to develop their imagination and help the

Understanding the early childhood development means to understand the behavioral,
cognitive, psychosocial, language and motor development that children get through
their early childhood stage. Psychologists state about early childhood development in
according to different views. The theories by Sigmund Freud stressed out the
importance of early childhood actions and experiences that almost completely
focused on mental disorders than normal performance.
According to Freud s early childhood developmental theories it is clarify as a
progression of psychosexual stages. At Three Essays on Sexuality (1915), Freud
tells that stages as oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. Every period connect the
fulfillment of a libidinal desire and be able to afterward play a role in adult
personality and behavior.
Erik Erikson says that each period of child development based on overcome a conflict.
As an example, the main conflict through the early childhood stage engages in
creating a feeling of personal identity. Success or failures within the conflicts at each
period can impact on the whole functioning. For an example, failure to develop a
personal identity results in role confusion through the adolescent stage.
Early childhood development can be discussed under five developmental areas. Those

As such, the materials reported in this study will cluster primarily around a time
bracket of c. 13,000 9,000 BP, which is an approximate temporal median of the
Paleoamerican period [c. 15,000 7,000 BP].
2.1. Preliminary Data on Paleoamerican Activity in Middle America
As a work in progress, the preliminary research on the subject suggests two things:
(1) evidence of Paleo Central America activity is relatively scarce and fragmentary,
with less than 35 sites reported (using the term site in a very broad sense; see
Figure 1); and (2) only a handful of them have been the object of archaeological
excavations, producing only around 14 absolute dates corresponding to the
Paleoamerican period (see Table 2).
This situation is in part due to the limited attention that Paleolithic archaeology has
received in the region. Some sites (Turrialba, Costa Rica, Nieto, Panama, and
possibly, BAAR 26, Belize) have allowed for the identification of camps of variable
sizes, workshops, quarries (Pearson 2004; Perrot Minot 2013). The Turrialba site,
Costa Rica, with an extension of at least 10 hectares, constitutes the most extensive
Paleoamerican settlement known in Central America. However, about half of the
sites have been discoveries of isolated objects without a known archaeological
context. As a consequence, it is difficult to undertake general assessments on
Paleoamerican demography in the region.

Abigail Williams Essay.pdf

  • 1. Abigail Williams Essay Crafting an essay centered around the character Abigail Williams can pose its own set of challenges. Abigail Williams, a complex and controversial figure in Arthur Miller's play "The Crucible," requires a nuanced approach. The difficulty lies in navigating the intricate layers of her character, analyzing her motivations, actions, and the impact she has on the unfolding events in the narrative. Firstly, understanding Abigail's psychology demands a thorough exploration of her relationships, both with other characters and with the historical context in which the story is set. Unraveling her motives, whether driven by personal vendettas, fear, or a quest for power, requires a keen literary analysis and an awareness of the broader themes in the play. Moreover, the challenge extends to contextualizing Abigail within the social and historical backdrop of the Salem witch trials. This involves delving into the societal norms, religious fervor, and political dynamics that contribute to the hysteria gripping the community. Interweaving these elements seamlessly into the essay adds another layer of complexity. Furthermore, tackling the essay involves addressing the ambiguity surrounding Abigail's character. Miller purposely leaves room for interpretation, making her both victim and perpetrator. Balancing these contrasting facets requires finesse in argumentation and a deep understanding of the play's subtleties. In summary, crafting an essay on Abigail Williams demands not only a comprehensive understanding of the character but also the ability to synthesize complex ideas and themes. It is a task that requires analytical depth, interpretative skill, and a keen awareness of the historical and literary context. If you find yourself struggling with such a task, it's worth considering seeking assistance. There are various resources available, including online platforms likeHelpWriting.net, where you can find expert help in crafting essays on a variety of topics. • 3. John Swift s A Modest Proposal In Jonathan Swift s satirical work, A Modest Proposal, the reader is presented with a horrible concept using extremely effective language and logos; Swift uses strong speech, rational tone, and complex grammar to convince readers that eating children will solve all the problems in 19th century Ireland. Swift s overall goals in his pamphlet, however, is not to actually encourage eating babies, which is why it is of satire, but is instead to raise awareness of Ireland s conditions for living, failing political figures, and the tyranny brought by England. Swift states in his sub title, For Preventing the Children of poor People in Ireland, from being a Burden to their Parents or Country; and for making them beneficial to the Public ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea is so intense that it demonstrates the overall irony of the piece. It is also worth pointing out that this line comes late in the essay. Swift lulls the reader into a false sense of trust by beginning with descriptions of the position of the poor in Ireland. The reader may think at first that this is a serious essay, making the point all the more loud when it eventually appears. The idea itself comes from a very knowing American, which is a small attack on the Americas and American colonies. Rhetorically, the first couple of quotes stated are the strongest in bringing attention to Ireland s issues. It s comical in the fact that he uses such a horrible idea to raise the red flags in the minds of the Irish people. In an earlier paragraph Swift writes, It is a melancholy object to those who walk through this great town, or travel in the country, when they see the streets, the roads, and cabin doors crowded with beggars of the female sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all in rags, ad importuning every passenger for an alms (Swift par.1). This quote should be understood as a highlight to the poor living conditions of Ireland. The quote is interesting because Swift does two things in it; he continues building his satire, which is the world the reader will be thinking about, while nonchalantly hinting the underlining theme of poor
  • 4. Types Of Occupations Within The Workplace Essay Often in the world there are jobs that come across as rather boring or tedious to complete day in and day out. However, it is a must to keep these jobs as they allow us to provide basic needs for ourselves in life. Some types of occupations consist of a specialised job, with this, the five core job characteristics derived from the job characteristics model also apply to these jobs. Furthermore, the five job features are known to be skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy and feedback, each having their own importance. By identifying the characteristics, three redesigning techniques can be implemented being establishing client relationships which are, combining tasks, establishing client relationships and vertically loading the job. The specialised job holds the job characteristics and can be redesigned as well to improve on some of those five task features. Mortgage brokers are known to have very demanding jobs with having to settle deals involving different types of investment properties, providing home loan services and organise large amounts of documents. However, a mortgage broker may take upon a business intern or administrator which is a specialised job, these individuals look after their documents and organise all their client files. A specialised job can be further defined as a job composed of a small part of a larger task or process (Williams McWilliams 2014, p. 156). A business intern seems like a fancy name, but a primary job for them would

Establishments that wish to effect smaller changes will also need to focus on: management structures, personnel policies, operating policies, and workers skills. Therefore, it is imperative that an effective understanding of the organisation is made so as to identify its needs and problem. This is sequel to the type of intervention technique adopted. There are several intervention strategies that can be adopted. Several assumptions about the nature and functionality of organizations are made in the choice of a particular strategy. Some of these assumptions are: * The main building blocks of an organisation are groups (teams). Which therefore makes the basic unit of change to be groups and not individuals * A major relevant change direction is to reduce inappropriate competition between units of the organisation and fostering of a more collaborative approach. * Decision making in an ideal organisation is found where the information sources are, and not where a particular role or level of hierarchy is. * Organisations, smaller units of organisations and individuals perpetually manage their affairs against goals. Controls are transient measurements, and not the basis of managerial strategy * One nature of an ideal organisation is to develop open communication, mutual trust and confidence * People generally will support what they assisted to build. • 6. Literacy Is A Fundamental Basis Of A Student s Academic... Literacy is a fundamental basis of a student s academic success. Without the skills of language, reading, and writing, children will have limited academic, economic, social, and emotional success in school and later in life (Maddox Fung, 2013, p.3). According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, 33% of U.S. students in elementary schools read below the basic readinglevel (NAEP, 2009). During this time, the Common Core initiative was in works to ensure that all students across America were graduating high school ready for college, career, and life. In 2010, a majority of the United States adopted the Common Core State Standards [CCSS]. Within these expectations the language, reading, and writing strands were developed for all grade levels. These three strands were developed to prepare children to become literate. The CCSS are the most effective way to implement goals for literacyeducation, for American students to succeed not only in school, but in the future. First, it is important to understand what it means to be literate and why being literate is important in today s society. To be literate today means much more than being able to read and write. For a child today, it means that they are better able to create, critique, and analyze material. It is important to obtain these skills due to the rise in technology. Children need to be able to read, analyze, and evaluate what they find online in order to succeed in school. Building upon these skills
  • 7. Digital Technology And Its Impact On The Classroom Essay In and of themselves, wikis, blogs, podcasts and microblogging will do very little to transform digital writing or learning in general. It s really not the tool or digital space that can transform or enhance learning. It is what is done there and how the tool is used by teachers and students alike. However, as I think the articles captured, when used effectively these digitaltools have the potential to develop critical digital literacies. In Wikis as Learning Environments, Forte and Buckman report their findings of using a wiki to represent traditional research. The students in the study reported enjoying using the wiki and publishing their work even though they struggled with the translation of the traditional research paper to that of creating a public website. They seemed to realize that they were involved in something bigger than just writing a paper for the teacher , knowing the site could be a resource that lives on after the class. Forte and Buckman stress when the research paper went online it became something different. The genre changed and the students initially struggled to understand what that meant. Throughout the process of creating the wiki the students were able to learn from each other. The nature of the wiki s collaborative editing and revision history allowed the students to look at each other s work all throughout the process. In doing so, they began to create a shared vision of what this public space should be. This ability to apply our

  • 9. Correlation Between Music and IQ in Children Essay 1. Introduction This project investigates the effect which the playing of a musical instrument namely the drums has on one s intelligence and academic ability. A search of the literature reveals that studies of this kind have been conducted by other researchers in many parts of the world and has led to the conclusion that music is an extremely healthy activity to be involved in. A study conducted on school children in America concluded that children who took voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not (Munsey, 2006). Dye (2012) reinforces this, stating that scientific research shows that studying music improves school performance. Gaser and Schlaug (2003) showed that musicians learn advanced ... Will learners who take daily drum lessons for two weeks improve their intelligence by improving their memories and having their brains stimulated? 2.Review of Literature A number of studies showing the relationship between the playing of musical instruments and IQ development are discussed below. A few studies on the effect of drum lessons on brain development are also considered. 2.1 Correlation between Music and IQ in children In Canada, Schellenberg conducted a study on school children and college students and concluded that those who took voice or piano lessons had higher IQ s at the end of the year than those who did not (Munsey, 2006). Schellenberg also studied whether the effect of an increase in IQ would continue to improve with more than a year s lessons and his most recent work has proven that this is in fact the case. The study found that young adults who had taken music lessons in childhood did have higher IQ s and better high school grades than people who didn t. He concluded that college students who had played a musical instrument regularly as children were two points ahead in IQ compared to their

  • 11. How Does Fatty Acid Contribute To The Production Of Glucose An individual engaged in vigorous exercise demands much more energy than a sedentary individual. The supplied energy during a 100 meter sprint or a marathon run comes at a cost, which is the production of ATP (Hill et al.). At the beginning of exercise the body relies on the glycogen stores in muscle that aids in ATP production. Eventually, glucoselevels in muscles begin to decrease as the activity continues, it s also thought that insufficient glucose causes tiredness (Hill et al.) . Glucose must be provided continuously in order to satisfy one s energy demands. Consequently, glucose is delivered by blood to the muscles. Fatty acids also contribute to the process of generating energy when glucose levels are low, which are broken down to

Everything about these two beings points toward the Time Traveler s theory that he is at the top of civilization, where the two major classes of society have become so set in their positions. This production of cotton, which is seen as an economic product for many countries worldwide, would utilize a very harsh form of irrigation, which drew large amounts of water from the Aral Sea. Queen Elizabeth s Tilbury Speech conveys how deeply she loved her country and her people. The queen s beliefs are revealed in her patriotic tone: the words, images, and details she uses to make her point. Elizabeth s powerful use of language and courageous tone is meant to inspire her listeners. She is prepared to take up arms alongside her people to drive out all threats to her kingdom. It is Ross view that Curriculum Gardening is a sound metaphor, because just like a garden students are given the chance to grow and learn. It is the author s view that in education, the nature of curriculum is continuously changing and as educators we have not yet found a successful curriculum . Ross (2000) suggests that a reform of the curriculum needs to be undertaken and that as educators we need to continuously evaluate and critically challenge our curriculum frameworks for the growing changes in society. He continues his metaphor and uses the imagery of a garden to highlight what gardens are used for by society. Ross (2000) suggests that gardens can be used for a number of different purposes; whether it be to provide food, as a means of exercise, for leisure reasons or simply as a means of relaxation. The culture also determines how the minority culture will be treated and how the two groups will be classified. Often, differentiation of groups is determined by race, rather than things like religion or class. Throughout literary history, authors have endeavored to capture the past as well as recreate and articulate sociological inequalities within that past. Issues of race, being one of the primary examples of social inequality, often appear in controversial and important works of literature. In the Caribbean Sea, people have had to deal with centuries of racial prejudices and sociological inequity, since the first explorers arrived on the island and demanded that those with darker skins become the slaves of those with light skin. Three particular works of literature, Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys, The Kingdom of This World by Alejo Carpenter, and The Farming of Bones by author Edwidge Danticat have recreated the historical scenarios of life in the Caribbean during the time of oppression of the native peoples by white Europeans and shows just how disturbing and destructive attitudes of superiority and inferiority regarding racial differences can truly be. Perhaps the most famous example of literature regarding Caribbean oppression is Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys. In this novel, a white woman named

  • 35. Taking a Look at the Crusades The Crusades of the middle ages were an extremely important part of history, although it was very gruesome and unnecessary at the same time, an oxymoron. I say it was important only because it had an impact on the world we live in today. It could be a very different world if the crusades would have never occurred and I believe traditional Roman Catholicism would be much more popular nowadays. The concept of the crusadesseems wrong in the modern morals, but at the same time it seemed completely right and justifiable. The politics of Western Europe in the eleventh century was a one of a kind. The pope believed Europe was being threatened by the Byzantine Empire, (a Christian empire itself), and the Mohammedan tribes. The first crusades began in 1095 A.D., Christian forces followed Pope Urban II s orders to wage war upon the Holy Lands and reclaim them. Soon armies of not only knights, but pilgrims, including women and children were headed east by the thousands. They were pushed forward by religious ambition, divine promise; they were fighting for what they believed was crucial to their beliefs and divine purpose. It is truly amazing to me the dedication these people had for something they had never seen or heard. It was true faith nonetheless. At this time in Western Europe, Roman Catholicism was extremely influential upon society and the pope was basically worshipped; he was their guidance, their connection to god. In 1071 the Byzantine army was destroyed by the Turkish and

The report also discusses aspects of Starbucks UK operations that are likely to play a more diffuse role in supporting the performance of the overall economy and the localities in which Starbucks has a presence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1.3An introduction to economic impact analysis A standard economic impact assessment identifies three channels of impact that stem from an activity: пЂЃ The direct effect encompasses the economic activity generated at Starbucks stores and other operational locations in the UK. пЂЃ The indirect effect encapsulates the activity supported in Starbucks UK based supply chain as a result of its procurement of inputs of goods and services. It should be noted that this supply chain impact relates to current expenditures only. In Starbucks case this channel of impact includes the supply chain behind the operation of its outlets in the UK, plus the inputs UK suppliers sell into other parts of Starbucks global business. пЂЃ The induced effect captures the impact of staff employed as a part of the direct and indirect effects spending their wages. This supports activity at the retail and leisure outlets they visit and their supply chains. 1.4The metrics of economic impact In accordance with standard economic impact assessments, the scale of Starbucks impact is measured using two key metrics: пЂЃ Gross value added Gross value added (GVA) is the contribution an institution, company or industry makes to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).1 GVA is most simply understood as turnover (i.e. value of sales) minus the cost of bought in goods and services used up in the production process. пЂЃ

Being married for fifteen years seems to be a lot for Delia, considering that she has only loved Skyes [Sp] for a short time after they were married. Living a life of fear and helplessness allows the dominantfigure of that person s life to continue to have total control until the fall of that dominant figure. Delia thought that it was a snake at first, and she was quite frightened. The whip is definitely a sign of dominance, and control. [Good point] This scene takes place at the beginning of the story; therefore we get a better understanding of the dominant figure right away. Another symbol in the story is the laundry that Delia does. Skyes has yelled at her several times to stop washing the white folk s laundry, but she continues to do so. This could be a way for Delia to get back at Skyes for all the misery that she has gone through. Delia also starts on the laundry Sunday s
  • 38. Swot Analysis For A Pharmacy Every business has its strength, weakness, opportunities and threats. These days most of the businesses do SWOT analysis for improvement. I work at a leading pharmacy in Newark, so I decided to do a SWOT analysis on it. This pharmacy started business in 2012. I chose this business because it is the ideal business to do the SWOT analysison, as it has its advantages and disadvantages. The SWOT analysis allowed me to find all the flaws as well as advantages of the pharmacyas well as ways to improve and to protect it from threats. If a business has many weaknesses, the SWOT analysis can help the workers and owners of the business become aware of it and can allow them to improve the business. So no harm or disadvantages come from doing the SWOT analysis. First advantage of the SWOT analysis is it identifies the strength of the business. The pharmacy I work at has location, long term customers, and the acceptance of all health insurances as its strength. The pharmacy I work at does not have any competitors nearby, the customers are regulars and only get their medication from here, and accepting all health insurances allows us to have more customers. The more customers, the more profit. The long term customers allow us to be insured that our customers are loyal to us and will continue with our service. Being conscience of all your business s strengths allows you to also see its weaknesses. Believe it or not, but being aware of your businesses weaknesses is beneficial for you.

The question spans all age groups, races, and religions. You will hear different answers from individuals under each group. Some view the use of the substance as a sin and believe that the use should be a crime and others view it as a freedom that each citizen should be granted. Marty Nemko, a Ph.D. holding, education evaluation specialist, says otherwise. In his article published by TIME magazine, Nemko goes into details as to why he believes legalizing marijuana will have far more consequences than it does reward. His points seem as though they would be valid, however his argument is stretched and very weak. Nemko uses irrational logic, slanted, biased data, and opinion based assumptions to attempt to persuade readers to join his cause. At first glance, Nemko s article seems as though it is full of logical reasons as to why marijuana should stay illegalized in the United States. The problem lies in his arguments. One of Nemko s main points of emphasis is what the drug would do to children. If his argument was against the legalization of marijuana for all ages, this would have sound reasoning. However, Nemko is not arguing this proposal. The argument in discussion is to legalize marijuana for adults, and Nemko argues for a large portion of his paper about a group of people who will not be affected by the law. Specifically, it will: (1) generate a preliminary descriptive synthesis of the various Paleoamerican sites; (2) analyze lithic typologies, describe the assemblages of the isthmus and compare them to South and North American technocomplexes; (3) submit the lithic data to the to Paleoindian Database of the Americas(http://pidba.utk.edu/maps.htm); and (4) document potential culturally modified late Pleistocene megafaunal remains in the region. The compilation of information will be conducted through bibliographic review, first hand documentation of museum and private collections available, visits to available... As such, the materials reported in this study will cluster primarily around a time bracket of c. 13,000 9,000 BP, which is an approximate temporal median of the Paleoamerican period [c. 15,000 7,000 BP]. 2.1. Preliminary Data on Paleoamerican Activity in Middle America As a work in progress, the preliminary research on the subject suggests two things: (1) evidence of Paleo Central America activity is relatively scarce and fragmentary, with less than 35 sites reported (using the term site in a very broad sense; see Figure 1); and (2) only a handful of them have been the object of archaeological excavations, producing only around 14 absolute dates corresponding to the Paleoamerican period (see Table 2). This situation is in part due to the limited attention that Paleolithic archaeology has received in the region. Some sites (Turrialba, Costa Rica, Nieto, Panama, and possibly, BAAR 26, Belize) have allowed for the identification of camps of variable sizes, workshops, quarries (Pearson 2004; Perrot Minot 2013). The Turrialba site, Costa Rica, with an extension of at least 10 hectares, constitutes the most extensive Paleoamerican settlement known in Central America. However, about half of the sites have been discoveries of isolated objects without a known archaeological context. As a consequence, it is difficult to undertake general assessments on Paleoamerican demography in the region.
