Bo Jackson Info Speech Essay
Bo Jackson I. Introduction a. No matter what people say, multitasking is one of the hardest things to
do. Whether it s play two sports in high school or work two jobs, it s tough to handle all that
responsibility. I myself played two sports in high school and trying to balance that out with school was
a tough enough task in itself. Now imagine having to manage two professional jobs at the same time,
well that s the life Bo Jackson lived, my favorite professional athlete and arguably the best athlete of
all time. Vincent Bo Jackson was born on November 30, 1962 in Bessemer, Alabama. He earned the
nickname Bo early as a child because he was a very rough and competitive kid and his brother
shortened the word boar into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Turned out, it was rather illegal, and he became suspended for the remainder of his senior baseball
season. Bo was extremely furious about that, and it even drove him to choose going to the MLB out of
college over the NFL Draft where he was the clear number one pick. Bo decided to sign with the
Kansas City Royals out of Auburn, where he batted .401 with 17 home runs and 43 RBI s as a senior.
And as if baseball and football wasn t enough sports at a big time university, Bo also ran track and
field his freshman and sophomore years and even considered joining the USA Olympic team, but
opted not to because he wouldn t get any financial security of the MLB or NFL, nor have the time to
train for the Olympics. c. Professional Career ii. Even though Jackson told the Buccaneers he wouldn t
go to the NFL, they still drafted him first overall in the 1985 NFL Draft. He spent the 1986 87 playing
for the Kansas City Royals, but he spent most of those years working his way up the minor leagues.
Following the 1987 season, Jackson decided to pick up football again as a hobby he described it, and
signed with the Los Angeles Raiders. In the 1989 baseball season, he was selected to the All Star game
and a lot of people were skeptical to whether he deserved to be there or not. So Bo did what only Bo

Practice Questions page 755 (652 674)
(652) 1. An emergency department nurse is assessing a client who has sustained a blunt injury to the
chest wall. Which of these signs would indicate the presence of a pneumothorax in this client? *
Diminished breath sounds
Rationale: This client has sustained a blunt or a closed chest injury. Basic symptoms of a closed
pneumothorax are shortness of breath and chest pain. A larger pneumothorax may cause tachypnea,
cyanosis, diminished breath sounds, and subcutaneous emphysema. Hyperresonance also may occur
on the affected side. A sucking sound at the site of injury would be noted with an open chest injury.

fractured rib. The nurse would expect to note which of the following? * Pain, especially with
inspiration * Rationale: Rib fractures are a common injury, especially in the older client, and result
from a blunt injury or a fall. Typical signs and symptoms include pain and tenderness localized at the
fracture site and exacerbated by inspiration and palpation, shallow respirations, splinting or guarding
the chest protectively to minimize chest movement, and possible bruising at the fracture site.
Paradoxical respirations are seen with flail chest. * * (660) 9. A client with a chest injury has suffered
flail chest. A nurse assesses the client for which most distinctive sign of flail chest? * Paradoxical
chest movement * Rationale: Flail chest results from multiple rib fractures. This results in a floating
section of the ribs. Because this section is unattached to the rest of the bony rib cage, this segment
results in paradoxical chest movement. This means that the force of inspiration pulls the fractured
segment inward, while the rest of the chest expands. Similarly, during exhalation, the segment
balloons outward while the rest of the chest moves inward. This is a

The Decline Of The Latin American And Caribbean Region
For the Latin American/Caribbean region, one human induced environmental problem would be the
severity of deforestation due to mining practices. According to Lisa Naughton s lecture, the price of
gold has skyrocketed due to the stock market crash, leading to a higher demand of gold and driving
roughly 7,000 miners into the forest, making this a global resource demand. Gold mining has a
significant history South America. According to page 281 of the textbook, Spain demanded that their
colonies provide gold and silver for the Spanish crown during the 1500s, with the crown itself
demanding 20% of all mining profits. Also, outsiders are no strangers to destroying South America s
natural resources for their own benefit. As stated on page 281, ... Show more content on

Fish makes up about 80 percent of protein (Where Have All The Fish Gone? Film) in the Khmer
people s diet, and the downstream impact of the Yali Dam has led to high toxicity levels in the streams
that have killed off the fish. Not only does this affect their diets, but it also affects their economy,
since fish is a main export of Southeast Asia. The Mekong River Commission estimated that $200
million of fish migrate up the Hou Sahong channel a year (Biard, Lecture). The Don Sahong dam
would block this channel, which would impact thousands of people. This problem is a result of local
resource use, since the purpose of this dam is to generate electricity specifically for Cambodia.
Southeast Asia becoming so dependent on exports, such as fish, has increased the severity of this
issue. According to page 404 in the textbook, during the 1970s and 1980s, many southeastern
countries have shifted their focus to developing products that could be exported all over the world.
Similarly to those demanding gold from Latin America, the corporations in charge of the dams care
about benefiting from its profits. According to Baird s article, the main objective of building the Don
Sahong Dam is to generate revenue by exporting electricity to Thailand or Cambodia. Those who
consider this Dam to be a problem would be the people of Cambodia and Laos who depend on the
river for food and survival.

In general, a bill will start with a member of Congress, but members of the public, state legislatures, or
the executive branch can also suggest a bill to them. After a congressman decides that they wish to
propose legislation, they then have to submit the bill to their respective house. In the House of
Representatives, all that is needed is to place the bill into a box, while in the Senate, one must file it
with a clerk. To illustrate the process, look at a hypothetical bill introduced in the House. After the bill
has been submitted, it will be recorded in the House Journal and the Congressional record. The
speaker of the house then assigns the bill to a committee. This is an important step and gives the
speaker a large amount of power, as assigning a bill to a committee that will view it unfavorably will
almost certainly result in the death of the bill. After the assignment, the committee will hold sessions
to make any changes they think are important, and if deemed necessary, the chair will send the bill to a
subcommittee. They will hold hearings and do further research before amending the bill, when it will
be returned to the main

The autobiography, Over My Head, by Claudia Osborn, gave a glimpse into the life of a former
Doctor. After suffering a traumatic brain injury, she suffered in many areas of daily life. As I read
through the short period of Claudia s life, many thoughts had gone through my head. My perception of
success was questioned, even my feelings toward my future career as a speech language pathologist

of them did. I am aware that most of this is rooted within the feelings of sympathy, and can in no way
imagine the intensity of the emotions felt, Getting a glimpse of Claudia and her loved ones lives has

Statement Of Purpose Of The Naval Academy
The most difficult question every teenager gets asked is, What do you plan on doing after High
School? I always said, I want to see the world! I want to be successful in whatever career I choose.
When I contemplate why I say this, I come to realize that I live for the challenges in life. I live to
experience the entire world and to leave a legacy behind. A legacy that would be remembered for
generations. When I was a young child, I heard of the US Navy and the Naval Academy from all the
intriguing stories my grandfather used to tell me. He gave in depth descriptions of the images he saw
in the service. The sunrises that he experienced on the edge of the Cua Viet River when assigned to
Assault Craft Unit One. He describes the sounds of gunfire zooming past his head and the birds
chirping every morning. Since I heard these experience s, I have been inspired to attend an academy
and allow it to give me the chance to create my own stories and experiences. The Naval Academy
sparked a strong interest in me because it can give me an opportunity to face experiences in a new

Roller Shoes As early as several years ago, roller skating becomes very popular and I used to dream of

deem the shoes good toys on account of following advantages: Firstly, roller skating is beneficial to
children s comprehensive ability improvements, which include physical agility, powers of endurance,
a good sense of balance. Through roller skating training, a considerable level of coordination between
children s brains and bodies are likely to be achieved. Besides, based on a scientific research released

Role Of Security Audits On Computer Forensics
Role of Security Audit Logs in Computer Forensics
Sanjeev Shrestha

A large number of real world applications, use audit trails or logs to keep in track of system usage and
error handling information. Security aspect of these log files and their retrieval from an untrusted
machine becomes a topic of vital importance in computer forensics investigation [2, 3]. Accurate
retrieval of data from these log files for gathering information is another important aspect in computer

1.2 Organization of Content in Paper
The rest of the paper is organized into various different sections as follows. In section 2, we give a
brief outline of the approaches for securing both the audit log files and well as the audit logs server
along with other security mechanisms. The third section includes a brief study of how we can index
and retrieve the data for any forensic investigation which may be quite essential in a fast paced
criminal investigation. The fourth section discusses in depth about the use of the valuable information
uncovered using log files and how they can help us find important patterns.
2. Description of Alternative Approaches
In this paper, mainly two ideas to secure the information in audit logs have been defined. One of the
first approaches is to secure only the audit files from attacker, such that, even if the machine is
compromised, the attacker will obtain no or very little knowledge from the current log files and is not
able to plant false information in the log file itself. The second approach is more concerned with the
securing the Log server itself by using encryption as well as dynamic IP techniques. Both the methods
have been defined in detail below.
2.1 Securing the Audit Logs
The audit log servers are differentiated into three different entities such as Untrusted Machine, Trusted

Explain Why 16 And 17 Year Olds Should Have The Right To Vote
I agree, that 16 and 17 year old citizens should have to right to vote. The legal voting age in America
is 18 years old, and it has been that way for about 40 years. They were given that right when the the
26th amendment was passed, and ever since it has been passed, there was no real dramatic increase in
the voting rate. Young people didn t really pay attention to politics, usually because at that age, 18
year old already had a lot to deal with in their daily lives. The Montgomery County community, which
is the nation s first to lower the voting age from 18 to 16, (according to the article), had no problems
when trying to pass this through the City Council. Although one member of the Takoma City Council ,
did not agree with the fact that 16 year olds should have the right to vote. Fred Schultz is the one that
didn t agree, he stated that the result won t be be worth the time ... Show more content on

The main reason why I agree is because, most students in high schools are taking Government or AP
Government class in 12th grade. In that class you get to learn about politics and how the government
and voting works, furthermore, I believe that we are the best education to make a decision that is
going to affect the country. Most people vote because one of the candidate supports only one of the
issue that they agree with, and it shouldn t be that way. The people voting should have the knowledge
of what every candidate s plans are and base their vote off of that, not just because they support one
issues that that voter agrees on. I also know that there we a lot of 16 and 17 year old that wanted to
vote, but of course couldn t because of their age, and I don t think that is fair. If we are educated on the
issues and the candidates running for office, we should have the right to vote, besides 16 year olds are
probably more educated than most 18 years on, when it comes to

Confucianism In Classical China
One of the most influential people during classical China was Confucius and his belief system of
Confucianism. There are many reasons why Confucianism rose among the other belief systems to
become one of the superior and most widespread in classical China. First and most obviously,
Confucianism made its success with the birth of Confucius in 551 BCE who is the author and creator
of all the content in Confucianism. More seriously now, knowing the fact that Confucius and
Confucianism was created during the Zhou dynasty the reasons for Confucianism at that time seemed
mandatory. During the Zhou dynasty, the Chinese government was incredibly weak due to the
numerous betrayals and the instability of the alliance system created by the Zhou leaders. ... Show

The reason the Chinese bureaucracy was established mostly due to the political failures during the
Zhou dynasty. During the Zhou dynasty, Zhou rulers established alliance systems with wealthy
aristocrats in a feudal organization where the aristocrats paid the government of China military troops

the Qin dynasty, Shi Huangdi removed the aristocratic feudal system and hired common, non wealthy,
trusted supporters to run as bureaucrats in each Chinese province. Essentially, the formation of the
bureaucracy during the Qin dynasty was to eliminate the weak political system created during the

Theme Of Bolivar In The Great Gatsby
In addition to the character s different settings, they are also introduced in very different ways. Bolívar
is first revealed as an image of a dead man when his lifelong servant José Palacios finds him floating
in his bathtub and [thinks] he [has] drowned. (Marquez, 3) This initial picture of Bolívar will remain
intact throughout the novel, as he is often portrayed as [having] the face of a dead man. (Marquez,
143) Although the General has already reached this level of deterioration on the first page, the reader
is regularly exposed to a radically different and maybe more historically familiar image of the General
from his days of glory, for instance when he remembers [leading] two hundred men armed with
whatever weapons they could find, and in some twenty days there was not a single monarchist
Spaniard left in the Magdalena Basin. (Marquez, 97) Although they are much fewer, there are also

Shortly after Gatsby s revelation, the climax of the novel will send him into a downward spiral after a

fought on as the afternoon slipped away, trying to touch what was no longer tangible. (Fitzgerald, 134)
From this point in the story, Gatsby s character will continue to devolve until he is eventually killed,

whose eminent downfall is due to love is employed by Fitzgerald to reinforce the theme of the
American Dream. Much like the typical American Dream, Gatsby comes from nothing and emerges a

What Is The Difference Between The Scarlet Letter And The...
Try to imagine being charged with a crime, being placed under arrest and given a fair trial by a jury of
your peers. Also imagine that you re in the 17th century. This drastic time change makes all the
difference because of the different ideologies and beliefs of the time period. The Scarlet Letter and
The Crucible both take place at a time in our nation s history that is much studied for its significance.
These were times when America was just beginning to become colonized. The Scarlet Letter and The

We also see Dimmesdale protecting his reputation when he goes and meets with Hester in secret. He
never really wanted anybody to see them together for fear that somebody would make the connection.
Another example is seen in The Crucible, in which John Proctor wanted to keep his reputation in
check. He had also committed adultery by having an affair with a younger girl. Much like
Dimmesdale, Proctor was able to keep it a secret for most of his life. We also see how important John
s reputation was to him when his life was on the line. John Proctor had a decision to make late in the
story. He had to choose between his reputation and his life. John chose to be hanged rather than have
his confession posted on the church door for all to see (Miller 143). These examples show how much
reputations meant to the people of the time period in which these texts take place. Additionally, these
texts allow for readers to gain knowledge about how punishments were done publically in order to
bring shame upon the guilty party. For example, in The Scarlet Letter, Hester had to wear a scarlet
letter A in order to make others aware of her crime (Hawthorne 51). Her scarlet letter A displayed her
crime of committing adultery. Others put her down because the letter made them aware of her action
and caused them to take action avoiding her. There were times, however, that Hester would try to
escape the shame caused by her letter. During

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Part of the torture is that the burden of guilt feels unending because you cannot undo the past
(Matsakis 119). In the book, Survivors Guilt by Aphrodite Matsakis, Ph. D, where Matsakis depicts
what and why living with PTSD is unbearable. Matsakis explains that guilt is the root of PTSD. There
is a never ending list of things to be guilty about after leaving a war, mainly; wishing you could get
the health back of the injured, get back the lives that were taken and closure with soldiers you thought
could have been saved. If the thoughts of these things could have closure and be let go, the survivor s
guilt would be surrendered. The quote, Guilt demands punishment (119), explains in such simple
terms of why the root of PTSD is guilt. If the guilt is released, then the negative thoughts, feelings of
hatred, anger and what ifs would all disappear. Addiction and abuse are two common disorders that
people often inherit while attempting to coupe with their PTSD. Alcoholism and drug abuse are
brought on by the tremendous amounts of stress and guilt felt when suffering from PTSD. The anxiety
and physiological arousal (adrenaline reactions) created by feelings of survivor guilt can play a major
role in the origin and perpetuation of any form of addiction (Matsakis 121). The high and numbness
that is associated with alcohol and drugs gives a short term relief from the guilt and pain felt from

Lowell Mills And Chimney Sweeps
Always evolving, always changing and always growing. Growing for the better or for worse? In the
18th century, Industrial advancements such as the steam engine seemed like a great idea, but as history
has proved countless times, had its faults. The Industrial Revolution impacted the world in a negative
way because of the loss of humanity, as seen in the Female Factory workers, Lowell Mills and
Chimney Sweeps. By the 1800s, people could earn higher wages in factories than on farms.
(Industrialization; Case study:Manchester, 723) Although these higher wages made in factories pushed
the industrial revolution forward, by being able to afford resources such as coal, factory life damaged
its workers and the community by created border between classes. For example, working conditions.
Working conditions during this time were extremely poor, and on average, a worker would spend 14
hours a day in factories. Factories were unsanitary, unsafe and generally not enjoyable. Factories were
seldom well lit or clean. Machines injured workers. A boiler might explode or a drive belt might catch
an arm. And there was no government program to provide aid in case of injury. (Industrialization;

How Did The Spanish Treat The Native Americans
The Spanish reacted peacefully to the lifestyle of the Natives. For example, when they established
their rule in America, they did not destroy and ruin the culture and heritage of the Native
Americas. Also, intermarriages between the Spanish and the Native Americans became very common
since many Spanish conquistadors were males in their 20s. As a result of intermarriage, a new
ethnicity was formed; this ethnicity was called mestizos. Mestizos established a cultural peace
between the Spanish and the Natives. Culturally, the Spanish and the Natives lived in tranquility.
When it came to the economics, the Spanish did not respond so peacefully; they were acted harshly.
Spanish conquistadors originally established their rule in colonial America in search of gold and silver.
Throughout their rule, they have not forgotten their main goal. For example, the Spanish deprived the
Natives of their resources, and forced them into slavery. The Native Americans were ordered to work
in gold and silver mines. Another example of the Spanish behaving brutally towards the Natives was
when Cortez conquered the Aztecs. After he had besieged their capital city, Cortez had already robbed
the Aztec s resources. The Spanish did not play nicely when it came down to wealth and resources. ...

Research Paper On Pecola
Pecola is a little black ugly girl as Morrison states in the book The Bluest Eye. In Pecola s society she

were automatically known to have a miserable life or be unhappy. This perspective in her society
caused her to believe that the only way she will ever be beautiful if she were white and had blue eyes
like them. Pecola seeked happiness and peace within herself, but with all that negativity suffocating
her there was no way she could find it in that toxic environment. Pecola was affected tragically
because everyone saw her ugly not only because of her complexion, but also her round belly that hold
the child of her own father. The hurtful words they told Pecola based on her appearance destroyed her

What Is The Reflection Of The Movie Shottas
For this assignment, I decided to reflect on the film Shottas . The film begins in the streets of
Kingston, Jamaica home of Biggs and Wayne, the two main characters. They lived within a very
dangerous and violent town, which drove them into their own violent lifestyle. As young men, how the
movie starts off, they rob the local drug dealers of a gun for a premeditated robbery. The money
allowed for them to purchase visas to come to Miami, Florida. While in the United States, as adults,
the two continue their criminal activities leading them to be deported back to their home in Jamaica.

Analysis
When it comes to extortion, in my opinion, there are different levels when it comes to classifying it as
an organized crime. As young men, the boys decided to rob and shoot a delivery truck driver, in order,
to rob him of his earnings. They commited a robbery, however, it modded them into become
disciplined organized criminals and extortionist. I call this a minor because of the money they robbed
the driver of was nothing compared to the amounts of money they were extorting from the upperworld
and underworld people of power. Their behavior reflects the behaviors they have seen first hand
within their communities. The young children within the community are exposed first hand to the
violence of the local gangs and crimes. At this time, I believe, the issue was with the Jamaican
systems, as in educational and law enforcement. Along with the issue of the communities lack of
attention towards their new generations, is the issue of corruption. Aside from law enforcement being
able to keep up with the criminal activity, and being able to stop it, is the political officials being
corrupted. The film reflects on how the political world sometimes becomes involved in the organized
crime world. Reflecting on a reading we did this semester, when the upperworld connects itself with
organized criminals, it does not mean the official themself are involved in crimes themselves.
However, it allows for the organized crime to succeed and become a thriving

The Validity of Cognitive Dissonance Theory Essay
Description of Theory
The term dissonance refers to when one cognitive element is inconsistent with another cognitive
element according to the lecture notes of Professor Soreno. Cognitive elements can be categorized in
four groups called beliefs, attitudes, values, and perceptions of behavior. Beliefs can be defined as a
perception that something exists or not. This perception can range from a central or peripheral type of
belief. The more central a belief is, the harder it is to change that belief. An attitude describes the
positive or negative feelings we have toward people, things, or ideas. Values are beliefs that are so
important to a person, that they practically guide a person s life. There are two types of values,
instrumental and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus attitude change is often consistent with the behavioral commitment and may justify it (Harmon
Jones, 2008). In other words, they are illustrating how in order to reduce cognitive dissonance, one
needs to change their behaviors, and the cognitive element that relates most to behavioral change is
attitude. Throughout the rest of the book, the authors discuss experiments and tests used to revise the
theory and look at the theory through other methods.
For the theory to be accepted though, the assumption that dissonance is psychologically
uncomfortable must be agreed upon. Another assumption is that people prefer consonance to
dissonance. People are pleased when there are no conflicts between their cognitive elements, because
it creates harmony within the person. From here, Festinger proposed the major theoretic proposition of
the theory that the higher the dissonance, the higher the drive to reduce it. The problem with any
assumption is that the criterion has to be filled in order for the theory to work. If there is a person who
does not feel psychologically uncomfortable with cognitive dissonance, the theory will not apply.
These people do not fit into society and lead to many problems such as serial killers or random
shooters.
Yet the Cognitive Dissonance theory is not solely affected by assumptions but also by the number of
dissonant cognitions and the significance of the dissonance. For

explains the importance of cohesion and coherence in writing prose. Williams and Bizup describes
cohesion as the logical and grammatical flow of one sentence to another, which readers move through
a passage in a way that communicates a complete thought. A reader should freely interpret a group of
sentences without analyzing fancy words from a thesaurus to understand author s intent. Furthermore,
Williams and Bizup explains the importance to discuss familiar concepts at the beginning of a

The topic sentence expresses the main idea, which the paragraph unifies around the main idea.
Williams and Bizup explains the topic sentence sums up the main idea of the paragraph and connects
the all the sequence of ideas together. Williams and Bizup assert that the topic sentence guides the
reader to the writer s next point. Williams and Bizup explains that every sentence needs supporting
sentences. The supporting sentences develop the facts, details, and examples to explain the main idea
of the topic sentence.
Coherence and Coherent
Furthermore, Williams and Bizup states, readers feel a passage is coherent when they read a sequence
of topics that focuses on a narrow set of related ideas. In order to achieve coherence, sentences within
a paragraph connect from one sentence to the next by using transitional words. The use of transitional
words link ideas, sentences, and paragraphs. Williams and Bizup explain transitional words such as
however, because, therefore, and in addition, establish relationships between ideas, paragraphs, and
sentences. As Williams and Bizup specifies by calling it throat clearing, which the authors explains
throat clearing begins with a metadiscourse that connects a sentence to the previous one, with
transitions such as and, but, therefore. Moreover, transitional words serve as signals to let the reader
know the previous idea, sentences, shifts in thought, and clarifies the sequence between ideas.

anything wrong, he would either beat her or make her kneel on grits which is supposed to be very

Analysis Of Rappaccini s Daughter
Lauren Thomas
Professor Saunders
ENGL 231
October 23rd, 2014
The Theme of Love in Rappaccini s Daughter Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story Rappaccini s
Daughter holds the theme of love at its forefront. The story delineates the struggles, both internal and
external, that Giovanni Guasconti faces when courting a young woman named Beatrice Rappaccini.
Beatrice s love of a plant and her father s love of science are conflicts that also highlight the theme of
love. Along with these conflicts, Hawthorne uses the theme of love to pose the question of whether or
not love is worth fighting for as well as critiquing a tragic flaw in romantic relationships. These
elements combine together to make a compelling argument that love is simply not worth the struggle
it imposes. The first conflict that arises in the short story is the internal conflict of Giovanni. Giovanni
moves from his home in order to study at the University of Padua and sees Beatrice Rappaccini
underneath the window of his new home. The conflict Giovanni faces stems from his affection and
blooming love for Beatrice. Giovanni sees Beatrice s beauty as brilliant, so vivid in its character, that
she glowed amid the sunlight (pg. 7). However, her beauty is rivaled by her horror. Whenever a
creature is near her breath, it dies. Giovanni begins questioning whether or not loving Beatrice is a
wise decision. Her horror keeps him at bay while her beauty and her personality draw him in closer.
The second conflict that

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Personality Analysis
One of the aims of Social psychologists is to research and explain individual differences in behaviour.
Theories of personality were developed between different but related strands such as clinical,
psychometric and experimental tradition; they looked at people behaviour to find out why individuals
act and respond to stimuli differently in common situations (Butt, 2012). Behaviour, emotion and
thought are the qualities that characterise each individual while he interacts with the social
environment, i.e. the definition of what is understood by personality. As cited by Butt (2012) traits are
relatively enduring ways in which an individual differs from another (Butt, 2012 p.46).
Two different approaches have their theory about personality: trait theory by Eysenck (1965) which
has origins from the psychometric tradition of measurement based on the experimental approach and
Kelly s (1995) personal construct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This essay is going to discuss the two theories highlighting the strengths and weakness for both
approaches. Trait theory was developed from the psychometric tradition by Eysenck and Ranchman
(1964) that used variables such as cognitive ability and IQ to assess individual differences; however,
criticism argued that IQ tests would favour only white middle class. Eysenck (1965) adopted a
nomothetic approach, which classifies personality dimensions, to measure and describe the individual
differences of personality. In Eysenck s and Ranchman (1964) approach, the science of personality
was a means of clarifying psychiatric classification. He believed that individual s behaviour, i.e.
personality, is influenced by biological characteristics: causal factors at a neurological level can
influence individual s temperament and behaviour. However, he recognised that other features such as
individual s past

Position Paper My first experience with physical therapy occurred in my small hometown of northern
Michigan. The clinic was a local private practice which had been around for years. Looking back,
some of the techniques used in this location did not seem to be exclusively evidenced based. One
specific instance I recall is how my physical therapist used ultrasound on my knee after I tore my
ACL. This treatment technique in the physical therapy setting is what I would like to focus this paper

Therefore, if you do or do not decide to use ultrasound in your practice, there should also be exercise
and movement based treatments in the plan. Through researching this topic, I have made some great
conclusions. I believe it is paramount that additional research is conducted regarding the effectiveness
of ultrasound as treatment. If I had to choose between using or not using ultrasound in my practice, I
would not use it. I believe our profession is capable of problem solving and developing new
techniques that will be even more effective and most importantly, evidenced based. I want to be
known for my integrity and trustworthiness with my patients. I feel as though the 5 10 minutes it takes
to treat with ultrasound could be used in a more effective way. Now, if a patient were to specifically
ask for ultrasound as a treatment, I would explain what the research states. If they still wanted to,
maybe because of previous experience, I would continue with the ultrasound treatment. In the vast
majority of cases, ultrasound is completely safe. If the patient shows improvement from ultrasound,
placebo or not, it benefits the patient. The patient is the most important aspect of this argument, we

America and War
America has always had a variety of reasons to choose from in explaining their decisions to go to war.
The three wars that Americans fought between the end of the 19th century and the mid point of the
20th century involved reasoning as varied as economic benefits or international tranquility. When the
United States finally declared war against Spain on 25 April 1898, those in charge of making such
decisions had an event with which to convince those who were unsure that war was necessary. The
explosion of the USS Maine, an American battleship, on 15 February 1898 provided the impetus for
declaring war ostensibly under the feeling of national security. In trying to persuade Congress that
declaring war was absolutely necessary beyond all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many in the United States viewed World War I as an ideological struggle between Democracy and
Autocracy and that it was the duty of America to intervene on the side of those fighting for
Democracy. This reasoning was supported by the success of the Russian Revolution in deposing the
autocratic government of the Tsars. This was one of the points in Woodrow Wilson s Fourteen Points.
Of the various reasons that Americans held as acceptable reasons to go to war with Europe, only one
truly was a matter of national security. The submarine attacks on merchant vessels, though despicable,
were not about attacking American soil. The Zimmerman Telegram on the other hand was a clear
indication that if Germany could win on the battlefields of Europe, America could well be next. The
reasons that were put forward, prior to Pearl Harbor, for entering World War II were surprisingly
similar to some of the reasons put forward for entering World War I. President Roosevelt in particular
was intent on entering in combat because he viewed the alliance of Germany, Italy and Japan as
aiming for world domination. Roosevelt felt that if they were to successfully conquer Western Europe
and Asia that American security would be in grave danger. In addition to the theoretical ideological
dangers that the fascist control posed to world freedom, there were several actions by those nations,
Germany and Japan in particular that displayed their immense danger to world peace. Germany

Farming Is The Nation s Most Important And Noblest...
When you think about farming what comes to mind? Do you think about older gentlemen on tractors,
or young boys helping there father feed the family herd. Maybe you even think about thousands of
acres of corn land in Iowa. Whatever it is I can assure you farming is the nation s most important and
noblest profession. Today farming is seen as a dangerous profession, that s not necessarily the case, it
is true that many people are injured and even killed on farms each year. In 2012 alone three hundred
and seventy four farmers and farm workers lost there lives due to work related injuries, and every day
a staggering one hundred and sixty seven agriculture workers suffer a work related injury (CDC
2012). But why so many? The simple answer is that when it comes to farm safety many people are
ignorant. I myself am guilty of not using the proper safety equipment or even removing a safety shield
to make things run more efficient. I think we have it hardwired in our brains that bad things only
happen to other people, and nothing bad could happen to ourselves, that s not the case. I think that if
farmers will take the time to slow down and be more careful and think things through we will cut
down drastically on injuries. If you think about it many farmers are constantly stressed, they simply
don t have enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks at hand so they begin to rush which
causes shortcuts to be made which can potentially lead to injury or death.

The Atomic Bombs
During the 20th century, specifically the year 1945, the United States of America had two atomic
bombs that the commander and chief, and president at the time, Harry Truman, knew about. President
Truman plan was to drop the bombs on two of Japans cities, Hiroshima first and then Nagasaki.
Truman s plans went accordingly, which to this day leads to a very controversial topic on whether or
not dropping the atomic bombs was a good or bad thing. There is evidence and reasoning to back up
both claims, in which everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, in my opinion, I believe the
choice of Harry Truman to drop the two atomic bombs was the right choice because it saved lives,
helped end the war faster, and it was merely the only choice for the sake of the American soldiers.
During this time there was a lot going on. A few years before, between the time 1937 and 1941 Japan

of 1941 at Pearl Harbor, this caused the United States to enter the war. Japan did not have enough
resources to fight against the United States and Britain causing them to be pushed out of the land of
East and Southeast Asia (Basic Information of the Bomb). The then president at the time FDR died in
February 1945, which leads to Truman becoming the new president soon after.

Analysis Of The Listen By Mary Mahlink By Dahl
Dahl expresses in the first part of the story that there is tranquility while Mary Maloney was waiting
for her husband to come home from work. Mary tries to converse and is encountered with short ,blunt
answers that comes off as tension, we can suspect this when her husband is drinking his whiskey and
there s dead silence in the room. Ice cubes are clanking against the glass which symbolizes coldness
and isolation. She wasn t really watching him, but she knew what he had done because she heard the
ice cubes falling back against the bottom of the empty glass when he lowered his arm. He paused a
moment, leaning forward in the chair, then he got up and went slowly over to fetch himself another.
Mary s is seen as the caretaker of the household and in the story that is reversed when her husband is
trying to tell her something important. Tired darling . Yes , I m tired . This statement represent a dry
and distance tone. Listen, he said. I ve got something to tell you . This can state the anitionpation the
author is trying to make us feel when reading the story. He had now become absolutely motionless,
and he kept his head down so that the light from the lamp beside him fell across the upper part of his
face, leaving the chin and mouth in shadow . This symbolizes the growing darkness and
foreshadowing of intensity that is coming up next in the story between her and her husband that opens
up Mary s insanity. This allows us to see the transition of Mary s once innocent

tradition nor Catalan Modernisme, La Sagrada Familia is known for its striking individuality at the
turn of the twentieth century. as well as its enormous scale and plethora of motifs. While many people
abhore the intense decoration and towering height, (people have obviously also thought it worthwhile
because the building is still under meticulous construction to this very day and completion is
anticipated in 2020, marking 140 years of construction.) Gaudi did not mind that the construction
would last beyond his death because, when given the extent of his efforts, La Sagrada Familia became
a vessel through which Gaudi could finally build to fruition the architectural conceptions he had been
developing with previous projects. Throughout his career , Gaudi strove to imbue his architecture with
a sense of life, and he was able to do this through geometry. [1] Meticulous calculations allowed
Gaudi to translate this inspiration into architectural experiences. La Sagrada Familia was [Gaudi s

Kinetics Lab Report
From the results, it is clear to say that the paper ramp had the most amount of kinetic energy as it did
not have as much friction acting on the marble; however, the plastic and sticky tape ramp had lower
amounts of kinetic energy as they had more friction acting on the marble. I found out that the marble
with the same mass and same velocity will have the same kinetic energy but having friction applied to
it would change the amount of time and distance it takes. In different common experiments that others
have done, they mentioned numerous possible cautions to check just in case to make sure that the
experiment runs smoothly. In different common experiments that other have done, they mentioned

Another element that could of affected the result was my motion of my hand caused on the marble
released into a tube at the release point as it could of had extra kinetic energy in rolling through the
tube and emerging to the launch point. However, I made sure that I would apply the same amount of
force when dropping the marble and to redo trials if my movement interfered with the results. I also
made sure that I released the marble at the right place instead of further up or down the tube
sometimes. In addition, another possible component that could influence my calculations was the
speed of my hand when stopping the timer. In order to made sure that my time was accurate, I had
placed the timer in front of the horizontal distance and utilized my camera to record the exact time.
This allowed me to be curtain about my precise time. I had learned from other experiments that
neglected air resistance has a effect on the experiments has it would affect the decrease of kinetic

Human Trafficking In Haiti
It s one of the biggest problems that we have , said Jean Max Bellerive, Haiti s previous prime
minster. What he s referring to is the human trafficking issue that has boomed in this country. Human
trafficking has existed in Haiti for years, destroying families and individuals. The issue hasn t been
this big until recent years, which I plan to look into. Human trafficking has become such a huge
industry not only in Haiti, but also through the whole world causing it to have such a huge impact on
global politics. What I plan to investigate is how the issue of human trafficking affects global politics
in a whole. Before going too deep into this issue, everyone should understand what human trafficking
is. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or
commercial sexual exploitation. This may include providing a spouse in a forced marriage or the
extraction of organs or tissues. Yuri Fedotov, the head of the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, said, At
any one time, 2.4 million people suffer the misery of this humiliating and degrading crime. It is
estimated that only one out of 100 victims of trafficking are ever rescued.
When first looking into this issue, I wondered why human trafficking has become such a huge
problem in Haiti so I tried to find some connection between the two and I what found was tragic. On

  • 2. Bo Jackson Info Speech Essay Bo Jackson I. Introduction a. No matter what people say, multitasking is one of the hardest things to do. Whether it s play two sports in high school or work two jobs, it s tough to handle all that responsibility. I myself played two sports in high school and trying to balance that out with school was a tough enough task in itself. Now imagine having to manage two professional jobs at the same time, well that s the life Bo Jackson lived, my favorite professional athlete and arguably the best athlete of all time. Vincent Bo Jackson was born on November 30, 1962 in Bessemer, Alabama. Turned out, it was rather illegal, and he became suspended for the remainder of his senior baseball season. Bo was extremely furious about that, and it even drove him to choose going to the MLB out of college over the NFL Draft where he was the clear number one pick. Bo decided to sign with the Kansas City Royals out of Auburn, where he batted .401 with 17 home runs and 43 RBI s as a senior. And as if baseball and football wasn t enough sports at a big time university, Bo also ran track and field his freshman and sophomore years and even considered joining the USA Olympic team, but opted not to because he wouldn t get any financial security of the MLB or NFL, nor have the time to train for the Olympics. c. Professional Career ii. Even though Jackson told the Buccaneers he wouldn t go to the NFL, they still drafted him first overall in the 1985 NFL Draft. He spent the 1986 87 playing for the Kansas City Royals, but he spent most of those years working his way up the minor leagues. Following the 1987 season, Jackson decided to pick up football again as a hobby he described it, and signed with the Los Angeles Raiders. In the 1989 baseball season, he was selected to the All Star game and a lot of people were skeptical to whether he deserved to be there or not. So Bo did what only Bo ... An emergency department nurse is assessing a client who has sustained a blunt injury to the chest wall. Which of these signs would indicate the presence of a pneumothorax in this client? * Diminished breath sounds Rationale: This client has sustained a blunt or a closed chest injury. Basic symptoms of a closed pneumothorax are shortness of breath and chest pain. A larger pneumothorax may cause tachypnea, cyanosis, diminished breath sounds, and subcutaneous emphysema. Hyperresonance also may occur on the affected side. A sucking sound at the site of injury would be noted with an open chest injury. (653) 2. A nurse is caring for a client hospitalized with acute ... Typical signs and symptoms include pain and tenderness localized at the fracture site and exacerbated by inspiration and palpation, shallow respirations, splinting or guarding the chest protectively to minimize chest movement, and possible bruising at the fracture site. Paradoxical respirations are seen with flail chest. * * (660) 9. A client with a chest injury has suffered flail chest. A nurse assesses the client for which most distinctive sign of flail chest? * Paradoxical chest movement * Rationale: Flail chest results from multiple rib fractures. This results in a floating section of the ribs. Because this section is unattached to the rest of the bony rib cage, this segment results in paradoxical chest movement. This means that the force of inspiration pulls the fractured segment inward, while the rest of the chest expands. Similarly, during exhalation, the segment balloons outward while the rest of the chest moves inward. This is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Decline Of The Latin American And Caribbean Region For the Latin American/Caribbean region, one human induced environmental problem would be the severity of deforestation due to mining practices. According to Lisa Naughton s lecture, the price of gold has skyrocketed due to the stock market crash, leading to a higher demand of gold and driving roughly 7,000 miners into the forest, making this a global resource demand. Gold mining has a significant history South America. According to page 281 of the textbook, Spain demanded that their colonies provide gold and silver for the Spanish crown during the 1500s, with the crown itself demanding 20% of all mining profits. Fish makes up about 80 percent of protein (Where Have All The Fish Gone? Film) in the Khmer people s diet, and the downstream impact of the Yali Dam has led to high toxicity levels in the streams that have killed off the fish. Not only does this affect their diets, but it also affects their economy, since fish is a main export of Southeast Asia. The Mekong River Commission estimated that $200 million of fish migrate up the Hou Sahong channel a year (Biard, Lecture). The Don Sahong dam would block this channel, which would impact thousands of people. This problem is a result of local resource use, since the purpose of this dam is to generate electricity specifically for Cambodia. Southeast Asia becoming so dependent on exports, such as fish, has increased the severity of this issue. According to page 404 in the textbook, during the 1970s and 1980s, many southeastern countries have shifted their focus to developing products that could be exported all over the world. Similarly to those demanding gold from Latin America, the corporations in charge of the dams care about benefiting from its profits. According to Baird s article, the main objective of building the Don Sahong Dam is to generate revenue by exporting electricity to Thailand or Cambodia. In general, a bill will start with a member of Congress, but members of the public, state legislatures, or the executive branch can also suggest a bill to them. After a congressman decides that they wish to propose legislation, they then have to submit the bill to their respective house. In the House of Representatives, all that is needed is to place the bill into a box, while in the Senate, one must file it with a clerk. To illustrate the process, look at a hypothetical bill introduced in the House. After the bill has been submitted, it will be recorded in the House Journal and the Congressional record. The speaker of the house then assigns the bill to a committee. This is an important step and gives the speaker a large amount of power, as assigning a bill to a committee that will view it unfavorably will almost certainly result in the death of the bill. After the assignment, the committee will hold sessions to make any changes they think are important, and if deemed necessary, the chair will send the bill to a subcommittee. I want to be successful in whatever career I choose. When I contemplate why I say this, I come to realize that I live for the challenges in life. I live to experience the entire world and to leave a legacy behind. A legacy that would be remembered for generations. He describes the sounds of gunfire zooming past his head and the birds chirping every morning. Since I heard these experience s, I have been inspired to attend an academy and allow it to give me the chance to create my own stories and experiences. One of the first approaches is to secure only the audit files from attacker, such that, even if the machine is compromised, the attacker will obtain no or very little knowledge from the current log files and is not able to plant false information in the log file itself. The second approach is more concerned with the securing the Log server itself by using encryption as well as dynamic IP techniques. The legal voting age in America is 18 years old, and it has been that way for about 40 years. They were given that right when the the 26th amendment was passed, and ever since it has been passed, there was no real dramatic increase in the voting rate. Young people didn t really pay attention to politics, usually because at that age, 18 year old already had a lot to deal with in their daily lives. The Montgomery County community, which is the nation s first to lower the voting age from 18 to 16, (according to the article), had no problems when trying to pass this through the City Council. The people voting should have the knowledge of what every candidate s plans are and base their vote off of that, not just because they support one issues that that voter agrees on. I also know that there we a lot of 16 and 17 year old that wanted to vote, but of course couldn t because of their age, and I don t think that is fair. I call this a minor because of the money they robbed the driver of was nothing compared to the amounts of money they were extorting from the upperworld and underworld people of power. Their behavior reflects the behaviors they have seen first hand within their communities. The young children within the community are exposed first hand to the violence of the local gangs and crimes. At this time, I believe, the issue was with the Jamaican systems, as in educational and law enforcement. Along with the issue of the communities lack of attention towards their new generations, is the issue of corruption. Aside from law enforcement being able to keep up with the criminal activity, and being able to stop it, is the political officials being corrupted. The film reflects on how the political world sometimes becomes involved in the organized crime world. • 26. The Validity of Cognitive Dissonance Theory Essay Description of Theory The term dissonance refers to when one cognitive element is inconsistent with another cognitive element according to the lecture notes of Professor Soreno. Cognitive elements can be categorized in four groups called beliefs, attitudes, values, and perceptions of behavior. Beliefs can be defined as a perception that something exists or not. This perception can range from a central or peripheral type of belief. The more central a belief is, the harder it is to change that belief. An attitude describes the positive or negative feelings we have toward people, things, or ideas. Values are beliefs that are so important to a person, that they practically guide a person s life. Thus attitude change is often consistent with the behavioral commitment and may justify it (Harmon Jones, 2008). In other words, they are illustrating how in order to reduce cognitive dissonance, one needs to change their behaviors, and the cognitive element that relates most to behavioral change is attitude. Throughout the rest of the book, the authors discuss experiments and tests used to revise the theory and look at the theory through other methods. For the theory to be accepted though, the assumption that dissonance is psychologically uncomfortable must be agreed upon. Another assumption is that people prefer consonance to dissonance. People are pleased when there are no conflicts between their cognitive elements, because it creates harmony within the person. From here, Festinger proposed the major theoretic proposition of the theory that the higher the dissonance, the higher the drive to reduce it. The problem with any assumption is that the criterion has to be filled in order for the theory to work. If there is a person who does not feel psychologically uncomfortable with cognitive dissonance, the theory will not apply. These people do not fit into society and lead to many problems such as serial killers or random shooters. Yet the Cognitive Dissonance theory is not solely affected by assumptions but also by the number of dissonant cognitions and the significance of the dissonance. For ... Her activism has led her to serve on several boards like Paideia School, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, United Way, Spelman College, and the Democratic National Committee to name a few, were organizations, and committees that she was a part of. • 32. Analysis Of Rappaccini s Daughter Lauren Thomas Professor Saunders ENGL 231 October 23rd, 2014 The Theme of Love in Rappaccini s Daughter Nathaniel Hawthorne s short story Rappaccini s Daughter holds the theme of love at its forefront. The story delineates the struggles, both internal and external, that Giovanni Guasconti faces when courting a young woman named Beatrice Rappaccini. Beatrice s love of a plant and her father s love of science are conflicts that also highlight the theme of love. Along with these conflicts, Hawthorne uses the theme of love to pose the question of whether or not love is worth fighting for as well as critiquing a tragic flaw in romantic relationships. These elements combine together to make a compelling argument that love is simply not worth the struggle it imposes. The first conflict that arises in the short story is the internal conflict of Giovanni. Giovanni moves from his home in order to study at the University of Padua and sees Beatrice Rappaccini underneath the window of his new home. The conflict Giovanni faces stems from his affection and blooming love for Beatrice. Giovanni sees Beatrice s beauty as brilliant, so vivid in its character, that she glowed amid the sunlight (pg. 7). However, her beauty is rivaled by her horror. Whenever a creature is near her breath, it dies. Giovanni begins questioning whether or not loving Beatrice is a wise decision. Her horror keeps him at bay while her beauty and her personality draw him in closer. The second conflict that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Personality Analysis One of the aims of Social psychologists is to research and explain individual differences in behaviour. Theories of personality were developed between different but related strands such as clinical, psychometric and experimental tradition; they looked at people behaviour to find out why individuals act and respond to stimuli differently in common situations (Butt, 2012). Behaviour, emotion and thought are the qualities that characterise each individual while he interacts with the social environment, i.e. the definition of what is understood by personality. As cited by Butt (2012) traits are relatively enduring ways in which an individual differs from another (Butt, 2012 p.46). Two different approaches have their theory about personality: trait theory by Eysenck (1965) which has origins from the psychometric tradition of measurement based on the experimental approach and Kelly s (1995) personal construct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This essay is going to discuss the two theories highlighting the strengths and weakness for both approaches. Trait theory was developed from the psychometric tradition by Eysenck and Ranchman (1964) that used variables such as cognitive ability and IQ to assess individual differences; however, criticism argued that IQ tests would favour only white middle class. Eysenck (1965) adopted a nomothetic approach, which classifies personality dimensions, to measure and describe the individual differences of personality. In Eysenck s and Ranchman (1964) approach, the science of personality was a means of clarifying psychiatric classification. He believed that individual s behaviour, i.e. personality, is influenced by biological characteristics: causal factors at a neurological level can influence individual s temperament and behaviour. However, he recognised that other features such as individual s past ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Ultrasound Position Papers Position Paper My first experience with physical therapy occurred in my small hometown of northern Michigan. The clinic was a local private practice which had been around for years. Looking back, some of the techniques used in this location did not seem to be exclusively evidenced based. One specific instance I recall is how my physical therapist used ultrasound on my knee after I tore my ACL. This treatment technique in the physical therapy setting is what I would like to focus this paper on. Never being employed as a physical therapy aide or even in the healthcare setting my experience and knowledge on the subject was minimal. The physical therapist had my full trust and any technique he performed went on without question. One could assume ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, if you do or do not decide to use ultrasound in your practice, there should also be exercise and movement based treatments in the plan. Through researching this topic, I have made some great conclusions. I believe it is paramount that additional research is conducted regarding the effectiveness of ultrasound as treatment. If I had to choose between using or not using ultrasound in my practice, I would not use it. I believe our profession is capable of problem solving and developing new techniques that will be even more effective and most importantly, evidenced based. I want to be known for my integrity and trustworthiness with my patients. I feel as though the 5 10 minutes it takes to treat with ultrasound could be used in a more effective way. Now, if a patient were to specifically ask for ultrasound as a treatment, I would explain what the research states. If they still wanted to, maybe because of previous experience, I would continue with the ultrasound treatment. In the vast majority of cases, ultrasound is completely safe. If the patient shows improvement from ultrasound, placebo or not, it benefits the patient. The patient is the most important aspect of this argument, we cannot forget ... • 35. America and War America has always had a variety of reasons to choose from in explaining their decisions to go to war. The three wars that Americans fought between the end of the 19th century and the mid point of the 20th century involved reasoning as varied as economic benefits or international tranquility. When the United States finally declared war against Spain on 25 April 1898, those in charge of making such decisions had an event with which to convince those who were unsure that war was necessary. The explosion of the USS Maine, an American battleship, on 15 February 1898 provided the impetus for declaring war ostensibly under the feeling of national security. In trying to persuade Congress that declaring war was absolutely necessary beyond all ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many in the United States viewed World War I as an ideological struggle between Democracy and Autocracy and that it was the duty of America to intervene on the side of those fighting for Democracy. This reasoning was supported by the success of the Russian Revolution in deposing the autocratic government of the Tsars. This was one of the points in Woodrow Wilson s Fourteen Points. Of the various reasons that Americans held as acceptable reasons to go to war with Europe, only one truly was a matter of national security. The submarine attacks on merchant vessels, though despicable, were not about attacking American soil. The Zimmerman Telegram on the other hand was a clear indication that if Germany could win on the battlefields of Europe, America could well be next. The reasons that were put forward, prior to Pearl Harbor, for entering World War II were surprisingly similar to some of the reasons put forward for entering World War I. President Roosevelt in particular was intent on entering in combat because he viewed the alliance of Germany, Italy and Japan as aiming for world domination. Roosevelt felt that if they were to successfully conquer Western Europe and Asia that American security would be in grave danger. In addition to the theoretical ideological dangers that the fascist control posed to world freedom, there were several actions by those nations, Germany and Japan in particular that displayed their immense danger to world peace. • 36. Farming Is The Nation s Most Important And Noblest... When you think about farming what comes to mind? Do you think about older gentlemen on tractors, or young boys helping there father feed the family herd. Maybe you even think about thousands of acres of corn land in Iowa. Whatever it is I can assure you farming is the nation s most important and noblest profession. Today farming is seen as a dangerous profession, that s not necessarily the case, it is true that many people are injured and even killed on farms each year. In 2012 alone three hundred and seventy four farmers and farm workers lost there lives due to work related injuries, and every day a staggering one hundred and sixty seven agriculture workers suffer a work related injury (CDC 2012). But why so many? The simple answer is that when it comes to farm safety many people are ignorant. I myself am guilty of not using the proper safety equipment or even removing a safety shield to make things run more efficient. I think we have it hardwired in our brains that bad things only happen to other people, and nothing bad could happen to ourselves, that s not the case. I think that if farmers will take the time to slow down and be more careful and think things through we will cut down drastically on injuries. If you think about it many farmers are constantly stressed, they simply don t have enough hours in the day to accomplish all the tasks at hand so they begin to rush which causes shortcuts to be made which can potentially lead to injury or death. Like I mentioned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Atomic Bombs During the 20th century, specifically the year 1945, the United States of America had two atomic bombs that the commander and chief, and president at the time, Harry Truman, knew about. President Truman plan was to drop the bombs on two of Japans cities, Hiroshima first and then Nagasaki. Truman s plans went accordingly, which to this day leads to a very controversial topic on whether or not dropping the atomic bombs was a good or bad thing. There is evidence and reasoning to back up both claims, in which everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, in my opinion, I believe the choice of Harry Truman to drop the two atomic bombs was the right choice because it saved lives, helped end the war faster, and it was merely the only choice for the sake of the American soldiers. During this time there was a lot going on. A few years before, between the time 1937 and 1941 Japan owned most of the land of East and Southeast Asia. When the attack of the United States in December of 1941 at Pearl Harbor, this caused the United States to enter the war. Japan did not have enough resources to fight against the United States and Britain causing them to be pushed out of the land of East and Southeast Asia (Basic Information of the Bomb). The then president at the time FDR died in February 1945, which leads to Truman becoming the new president soon after. The United States had two options when addressing the pacific front. They had to either continue man to man combat or force ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Analysis Of The Listen By Mary Mahlink By Dahl Dahl expresses in the first part of the story that there is tranquility while Mary Maloney was waiting for her husband to come home from work. Mary tries to converse and is encountered with short ,blunt answers that comes off as tension, we can suspect this when her husband is drinking his whiskey and there s dead silence in the room. Ice cubes are clanking against the glass which symbolizes coldness and isolation. She wasn t really watching him, but she knew what he had done because she heard the ice cubes falling back against the bottom of the empty glass when he lowered his arm. He paused a moment, leaning forward in the chair, then he got up and went slowly over to fetch himself another. Mary s is seen as the caretaker of the household and in the story that is reversed when her husband is trying to tell her something important. Tired darling . Yes , I m tired . This statement represent a dry and distance tone. Listen, he said. I ve got something to tell you . This can state the anitionpation the author is trying to make us feel when reading the story. He had now become absolutely motionless, and he kept his head down so that the light from the lamp beside him fell across the upper part of his face, leaving the chin and mouth in shadow . This symbolizes the growing darkness and foreshadowing of intensity that is coming up next in the story between her and her husband that opens up Mary s insanity. This allows us to see the transition of Mary s once innocent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. La Sagrada Familia ( The Expiratory Church Of The Holy Family In 1884, Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí began work on La Sagrada Família (the Expiratory Church of the Holy Family,) a Catholic cathedral in Barcelona, Spain. What began as a modest Gothic Revival design by fellow architect Francisco de Paula del Villar transformed, under Gaudi s direction, into a massive monument to Catholicism, Catalonia, and the city of Barcelona. Neither of the Gothic tradition nor Catalan Modernisme, La Sagrada Familia is known for its striking individuality at the turn of the twentieth century. as well as its enormous scale and plethora of motifs. While many people abhore the intense decoration and towering height, (people have obviously also thought it worthwhile because the building is still under meticulous construction to this very day and completion is anticipated in 2020, marking 140 years of construction.) Gaudi did not mind that the construction would last beyond his death because, when given the extent of his efforts, La Sagrada Familia became a vessel through which Gaudi could finally build to fruition the architectural conceptions he had been developing with previous projects. Throughout his career , Gaudi strove to imbue his architecture with a sense of life, and he was able to do this through geometry. [1] Meticulous calculations allowed Gaudi to translate this inspiration into architectural experiences. Kinetics Lab Report From the results, it is clear to say that the paper ramp had the most amount of kinetic energy as it did not have as much friction acting on the marble; however, the plastic and sticky tape ramp had lower amounts of kinetic energy as they had more friction acting on the marble. I found out that the marble with the same mass and same velocity will have the same kinetic energy but having friction applied to it would change the amount of time and distance it takes. I also made sure that I released the marble at the right place instead of further up or down the tube sometimes. In addition, another possible component that could influence my calculations was the speed of my hand when stopping the timer. • 42. Human Trafficking In Haiti It s one of the biggest problems that we have , said Jean Max Bellerive, Haiti s previous prime minster. What he s referring to is the human trafficking issue that has boomed in this country. Human trafficking has existed in Haiti for years, destroying families and individuals. The issue hasn t been this big until recent years, which I plan to look into. Human trafficking has become such a huge industry not only in Haiti, but also through the whole world causing it to have such a huge impact on global politics. What I plan to investigate is how the issue of human trafficking affects global politics in a whole. Before going too deep into this issue, everyone should understand what human trafficking is. Human trafficking is the illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labor or commercial sexual exploitation. This may include providing a spouse in a forced marriage or the extraction of organs or tissues. Yuri Fedotov, the head of the U.N. Office on Drugs and Crime, said, At any one time, 2.4 million people suffer the misery of this humiliating and degrading crime. It is estimated that only one out of 100 victims of trafficking are ever rescued. When first looking into this issue, I wondered why human trafficking has become such a huge problem in Haiti so I tried to find some connection between the two and I what found was tragic. On January 12, 2010 an earthquake with a magnitude of 7 hit Port au Prince devastated this country. Over 188,383 houses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
