How Organisational Structure and Strategic Planning Can...
Strategic planning is important for all businesses because this is when they set there aims and
will discuss how they can achieve that aim. These aims have to be realistic and the owners will
discuss this with their workers. Some aims might be hard to get but executives will want their
workers to push hard so that it can be achieved. Marks and Spencer s aim was to be the best
supermarket in Britain but the recession had affected them really bad giving them losses of over
100 million pounds. Currently they are making profits of 50 million pounds but it is nowhere near
what they made a few years ago.

Next are a smaller company than Marks and they have made more than 873 million pounds in
profits. John Lewis has also done well and they have been doing well since the start of 2011.
John Lewis and Next have been doing really well because they have made changes in prices and
the offers that are being made are worth the money. Gradually as more people start buying the
product they will increase the price.
John Lewis who s partners with Waitrose has benefitted them and Waitrose. John Lewis needed
a good start to the year as at the end of 2010 they suffered heavy losses with the snow showers.
They made losses over 30 million at Christmas time which is where spending is high and is the
time where John Lewis makes a lot of sales. John Lewis has been expanding over London and
they are going to open a new store in Westfield s in Newham. Opening a store in Westfield s is
good for business but they may have competition from other stores in Westfield s. John Lewis has
a big store in Kingston and that is where they have been making a lot of profit and they are
planning to build more stores in London as that s where most people are spending.
Marks do have financial backing but they need to improve areas that are weak. There online

New Negro
The Harlem Renaissance from 1919 to 1930 s was a time for United States to rapidly change,
especially with the rise of the generation we refer to as African Americans today. It was an era of
literature, an era of slavery, and an era that made the biggest impact in the history of United States.
The term Negro refers to someone of the black race or black ancestry and it defines as black in
Spanish and Portuguese. African Americanscholar Alain Locke defines the New Negro as an
outspoken advocacy of dignity and refusal to the law of Jim Crow racial segregation. Locke
popularized this term during the Harlem Renaissance. Leaders of the past and many people today

diversity of United States, where multiples races get together and share their unique backgrounds.
I agree with this statement because diversity is a huge part of United States and without it, I
believe the country wouldn t be as successful as it is today. Dr. Martin Luther King states, Anyone

Calorimetry Lab Report Summary
Summary Questions:
1. What value(s) of О”Hrxn did you determine? Compare to the literature value. The first trial that
contained 10 mL of NaOH and 10 mL of CH3COOH produced a О”Hrxn of 13.11 kJ/m. The
second trial, which contained 15 mL of NaOH and 5 mL of CH3COOH resulted in a О”Hrxn of
7.864 kJ/m. Based on the literature value of NaOH CH3COOH, 57.5 kJ/m, we were off by 44.39
kJ/m in the first trial, and 49.64 kJ/m in the second trial.
2. How did concentration and/or volume differences affect the heat change (q) for each trial? When
the volumes of NaOH and CH3COOH were equal, the temperature increased by 5 degrees celsius.

temperature increased by 5Вєc, but when we added 15 mL of NaOH and only 5 mL of CH3COOH
there was only a temperature increase of 3Вєc. In correlation, we calculated that when you have

The Invention Of Skateboard In The 1940 s
Around the time of the 1940 s was when the first ever skateboard was made. In the early 1940 s
and 1950 s many surfers in California wanted something to do when the waves were flat which
mean, they weren t able to surf. The people who supposedly came up with the idea were a few
surfers who wanted to be able to do something similar as they did in the water. Skateboarding
history still has a mysterious origin. No one to this day knows who actually invented the skate
board. Several people have claimed to have made the skateboardbut nothing has been proven. In
1965 skate boarding s popularity began to reach its s top. First skateboarders started with wooden
boxes or boards with roller skate wheels attached to the bottom. Skateboards first... Show more

Some skateboarders also own longboards, and love longboarding just as much as skateboarding.
Some skaters even believe that longboarding is the best way to earn how to ride. This makes
sense to me because longboards are usually more stable and secure because of their length. And
not only can they be used for enjoyment, but they also help you save gas when you commute.
An old school skateboard is extremely different from the skateboards of today. Old school
skateboards normally are talking about skateboards that were popular in the past and are not
really used today. They are sometimes known as classic skateboards. The term Old school

The Issue Of Safety And Gun Control
Have you ever thought about the fact that in America, an 18 year old is old enough to buy a gun,
but not a beer? The concern of a gun crime being committed by a young man/woman is high, but
what if they want to go hunting with their father? It doesn t seem so bad now. Some people may
think that our President isn t effective enough, but there are too many people supporting each
side for the President to make a large, yet fair decision. There may be two sides to the story, but
what is the right option? This question of safety and gun control has become part of an on going
controversy due to views on The Constitution, the national gun control laws, as well as the fact that
most Americans would like an updated background checking system. The discussions about
citizens rights to bear arms go back to ancient times. Political theorists from ancient Rome, John
Locke of England, and Jean Jacques Rousseau of France viewed the possession of arms as a sign
of personal freedom and a crucial element of government. The precise meaning and purpose of the
Second Amendment has been an issue of major controversy. Gun control supporters argue that
when the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, each state enabled a militia, composed of
ordinary citizens who served as part time soldiers. Fearing that the federal government would use its
army to force its will on the states, the authors of the Second Amendment intended to protect the
state militias right to bear arms. As stated in modern times

Competitive Advantage Of The American Business Environment
The American business environment is diverse, complex, and very competitive. Organizations who
want to build successful businesses need something that will set them apart from the others in their
industry. According to the Institute of Management Accountants (1996), companies will survive
and prosper when they supply what customers want to buy and when they survive competition.
Business experts agree that having a sustainable competitive advantage is the best way to do so.
When considering which firms to invest in, investors want to know what a firm does differently
that is significant and measurable and whether it can be done long term (Zwilling, 2010). Creating

Customer delight
Barbour (2014) describes customer delight as surprising a customer by exceeding his or her
expectations and thus creating a positive emotional reaction . For example, customers enjoy the
ease of ordering products online (good). He or she expects to pay for shipping and receive a
quick delivery of the item (great). The product arrives with a thank you note and a coupon for a
discount on the next order (delight) (Barbour, 2014).
Inter relationship of Concepts
According to Walters Rainbird (2007), companies create additional value for their customers by
building value chains that identify, produce, deliver, and service customer needs (p. 164). Michael
Porter identified the value chain concept in his 1985 book Competitive Advantage (Manktelow,
n.d.). He proposed a general purpose value chain that companies can use to analyze their activities
and see how they connect. The chain is comprised of five primary activities: Inbound logistics,
Operations, Outbound logistics, Marketing and sales, and Service.
An organization s strategy for managing their value chain can create a competitive advantage for
the organization. Competitive advantage explains the difference between the value a company
offers its customers and the cost of creating that value ( Value Chain Analysis , 1996). Customer
delight refers to delivering

Watergate Scandal Of United States Vs. Nixon
In the landmark court case of United States vs. Nixon the court had denied Nixon s presidential
power of executive privilege to halt the subpoena against him. The court concluded that his
exercised power was not absolute and the need for evidence outweighed the presidential privilege
as it was infringing on a criminal case. This case against Nixon was a result of one of the worst
presidential scandals in U.S. history. The scandal was the Watergate scandal.
The presidential scandal known as Watergate was a shameful incident within the history of
American presidents. It was a scandal that later set precedent on the limitation of presidential
powers. It was a time when the president was viewed as a tyrannical power. Furthermore as a result,
there were numerous consequences, which led to reforms that are still impacting our government
as well as the presidency. The many crimes that Nixon and his administration committed in attempt
to cover up involvement throughout the Watergate ordeal resulted in the prosecution of many of
high level government officials. It also led to the only presidential resignation in history in August
of 1974.
During this time in American history, America was in the midst of the Vietnam War, a war that
nobody liked or really understood. This presidential scandal damaged the image of President Nixon
and subsequently tarnished America s outlook on the presidency as well. This event further
stimulated an era of public distrust towards the American

The main factors that contributed to this contrasting difference are due to the changes in
unrestricted tax losses and offsets. Since OZL has made a tax loss in FY2013, it is able to
recognise a DTA of $109.7mil to represent a tax saving so the taxable amounts will be available
in the future to utilise the temporary differences, losses and offsets. The tax loss is carried forward
as a deduction against future taxable income (Leo, Hoggett, Sweeting, Nicholson, 2012) in FY2014
by partially reversing the DTA by $35mil.
The deductible temporary differences between the carrying value and the tax bases of depreciation
/amortization is higher in FY2014 due to the higher asset balance as a result of the deferred
stripping asset and increased ore mined which increased the expense for the year.
The income tax refund has reduced from $6.5mil in FY2013 to $0.8million in FY2014. In

about the user. And authorization assertion checks what the user is authorized to do.
Features
SAML has many good features that we all can take advantages of. One of its features is that it
supports single sign on with numerous identity benefactors. Another one is that it also supports
alternatives for identity assertion and mapping the assertion identity to the user registry of the
service provider. Also, according to IBM SAML Single Sign on Scenarios, Features, and

Western And Western Saddles
According to society, Equestrians are jockeys that race around a track. But to anyone who s
actually ridden or has a passion for horses, you know that there are two distinctive styles of
riding English and Western. There are both similarities and differences between the two types of
riding. Regardless of the style of riding people participate in or favor, each world of riding opens up
various activities for the rider to enjoy.
The most obvious difference between English and Western ridingis the tack itself. Most people
associate Western riding with cowboys and herding cattle. The Western saddleis a larger, heavier
saddle with a horn in the front. The saddle is more comfortable and easier to sit in, to provide a
more comfortable seat ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, English style horses tend to be taller and many are leggy, aiding their ability to
travel over long distances at a variety of speeds as well as jump over a variety of obstacles
(Blocksdorf 2016). English horses are normally lighter and taller to give them an advantage over
jumping fences and performing in cross country. Western horses and stockier and they tend to be
shorter than English horses. Western horses tend to be compact and capable of steady travel all
day with small bursts of speed to chase stray cattle (Blocksdorf 2016). Of course, a Quarter horse
can participate in the English discipline, and a Dutch Warmblood could participate in reining, but
those breeds are usually specifically bred for either English or Western disciplines. A similarity
between English and Western riding is the posture. Both types of riding require the rider to sit
up straight in the saddle and have their heels down. Comfortably and securely sitting in the
saddle requires you to keep your hands down, tuck your elbows in, and push your shoulders
back. Good posture in the saddle is essential to riding correctly. For example, A balanced rider is
able to maintain this center of balance through all paces. I call this the independent riding posture .
The riding posture is the position the rider establishes in the saddle, at all paces. An independent
riding posture gives the rider a stable base allowing them to use their legs, seat, and hands

The Trail Of Tears By Andrew Jackson
The Trail of Tears was a testament to the cruelty and disrespect we showed toward the Native
Americans. This paper will show how the United States used its legislative power and brute force to
remove the Indian tribes. From the election of Andrew Jackson, and the implementation of the
Indian Removal Act. The Creeks, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole and their actions against the
removal process. Finally, how the Cherokeeused the legal process to fight evacuation of their nation.
Andrew Jackson was not the first president to order the removal of Indians, but he is definitely
the most infamous. He was elected as the seventh president of the United States in 1828. Not
long after being sworn into office he began to push the issue of Indian removal. He is quoted in a
book by John Ehle as saying Build a fire under them. When it gets hot enough they ll move (Ehle
220). He is stating that with enough harassment and persistence the natives will be moved from
their land. Under Jackson s promotion the Indian Removal Act was passed in 1830. This granted
him the authority to begin moving the Native Americans to the west of the Mississippi River. So,
over the next two decades the Native Americans were removed from their eastern lands and
relocated to what is present day Oklahoma. Those who could not be negotiated with were forcefully
removed. Some even sought legal action and won, like in 1832 the Supreme Court ruled the federal
government must protect the Cherokee nation. However,

Description Of The Play In Othello
Othello: A 17th century soap
The play Othello was written by William Shakespeare and first performed in 1604. It tells the
story of a group of people who are entangled in a complex web of relationships and try to work
out the dynamics of their tiny society. This brings forth a load of drama that plays directly into
hands of the villain of the story: Iago. He carries a huge grudge against the main character: Othello.
The storyline in this play is so dramatic and complicated it can be compared to a television soap
nowadays. The main characteristic of a soap is: an emphasis on family life, personal relationships,
sexual dramas, emotional and moral conflict. In my opinion the setting of the play, the relationships
within and Iago s role contribute to making Othello 17th century television soap.
First of all, the setting of Othello greatly contributes to the dramatic storyline. In a modern soap,
the circumstances force the characters to face each other. For example, the characters usually form
an intimate group, like a family or close group of friends. In real life they would have ... Show more

The director s job description includes producing, enhancing and realizing ideas and taking care
the finished product is in line with the original ideas. In Othello, Iago hates Othello but it is not
exactly clear what the reason is. It is mentioned that Othello promoted Cassio instead of Iago to
lieutenant but does not legitimate Iago s aversion in my opinion. It seems this hate is mostly
used to give Iago a motive to come up with a revenge plot and thereby create an interesting story.
All characters are influenced either directly or indirectly by Iago and this way all events are
orchestrated by the Moor Slayer . This becomes visible in the many soliloquies Iago has in the
play. A good example takes place in the third scene of the first

How Does The Appendix Affect The Human Body
The appendix is a tube shaped sac that is attached to and opening into the lower end of the large
intestine of humans and some other mammals. For human s the appendix is an average of 9
centimeters long, but can range from 2 centimeters to 20 centimeters. The diameter is between 7
centimeters to 8 centimeters. The appendix is most commonly located near the right hip bone in
the right lower quadrant of the abdomen(See Appendix A for image). The bottom portion of the
appendix is approximately two centimeters below the ileocecal valve, a sphincter muscle that
separates the small and large intestines. This sign is named after Dr. Charles McBurney; he was the

No scientist or research team has been able to discover what the appendix provides or does for
the body. Its has been an unsolved mystery for many years. A recent study done by a team of
scientists out of Midwestern University has suggested that the appendix does have a function for
the human body. The study was done by tracking a total number of 533 mammal species for an
overall of 11 million years. The team looked for specific instances in which the appendix had
disappeared or reappeared. When the organ would reappear this would show that there was an
evolutionary necessity for the appendix.
Through this research and intense study it was discovered that the appendix reappeared in
mammals between 29 and 41 times. The organ had only disappeared from lineages 12 times; this
strongly suggests that the appendix provides a function to the body that has not been discovered.
The authors of the study wrote, Thus, we can confidently reject the hypothesis that the appendix is
a vestigial structure with little adaptive value or functions among mammals. (Office of

Increase of Women Population in Prison Essay

The growing rate of women in prison has spawned widespread awareness in our society; leading
people to question why the percentage multiplied exponentially over the past three decades. In the
past, female offenders have not only been compared to their male counterparts, but to society s
view on the role of women; the roles that labeled them as housewives and mothers. But how did
these housewives and mothers go from the home to the prisons? The subject of women s issues has
sporadically been discussed in our society, and it has just recently being uncovered that women

It was a time when, according to Hagan s theory, sons were more likely to be deviant because
they were not as restricted as their sisters. The sons were allowed to stay out late, hang out with
friends, and when their misdemeanors were fixed with the simple saying of boys will be boys .
With males having more freedom to commit delinquent acts, there was doubt that the men were
the majority of the population of prisons. As time passed and women began to embrace their
liberations, more and more of them began working outside the home. This sudden rise of women
in the workplace led to the shift in families. The number of egalitarian families in this nation
began to increase, and with that women held more equal weight in household decisions with their
husbands. A shift in the deviance of the children began to occur as well. Criminology theorists
Matza and Sykes (1957) believe that anyone can be freed up to be delinquent and under this
egalitarian household both boys and girls shared equal chances of doing just that, since there was
starting to be a lack of supervision. When the parents did come home from work the women would
bring the equal opportunity mentality with them so daughters were not being as restricted as they
were before.

Raymond s Run Squeaky Quotes
People usually misunderstand how important songs can be they are a link to the soul it can
make you laugh it can make you cry. Going against gender stereotypes in songs are huge and
very important a character from Raymond s run named Squeaky ( the main character ) has to
deal with a lot of gender stereotypes from her mom. Who pressures her to be a fairy or a perfect
little pinky princess and she wants no part of it because she doesn t want to be a girly girl. She
is judged in Raymond s run by Toni Cade Bambara she is judged by her mom and some girls at

My Career As A Purpose Of A Zoologist
The career I am pursing is Zoology, which requires a degree in Biology. I chose this career due to
my passionate interest in wildlife and my personal character. I have not chosen what career branch
I would like to partake in because of the numerous options. But that requires additional research
that will be sought out during the upcoming years of college. A Zoologist is a person who studies
wildlife, the habitat of wildlife and how animals adapt to it. In addition, they also study the
behavior of animals, animal characteristics, and how they react to human activity. The purpose of a
Zoologist is to experiment, researchand study animals. This could mean in the wild itself or in a
controlled area. Overall, Zoologist overlook the large picture of animal communities and how
specieswork in life. The skills you need to become a well practiced zoologist are traits I have
found in myself. Of course, the interest of researching animas is the most important. But you
also need communication skills, a strong logical problem solving approach, keen observation
skills, and can independently or as a team. Majority of those skills I possess but could continue
to improve on. The profession appeals to me because of my love for animals mostly. I have been
interested in animals as a young child and I actually prefer animals over people. I m caring
enough to dedicate my time when I m older to wildlife and wildlife projects. What else interests me
about animals is how they

Ureter Case Study
Calcular obstruction of the ureter is one of the most frequently encountered emergency cases in
the Urology practice [1,2]. The lifetime risk for stone diseases has significantly increased,
reaching 10 15% in USA with a recurrence rate reaching 50% [3]. Modern advances in the tools of
diagnostic procedures, with the introduction of multi detector CT and its wide use in the practice,
changed the diagnostic approach and increased the accuracy of detecting ureteral stones including
radiolucent and small ones [1,4]. The main objectives in management of ureteral calculi are relief
of symptoms; mainly pain followed by alleviation of obstruction to preserve renal function and if

Hannukah
There are many holidays, secular and religious to chose from. Before deciding on your favorite
one, you have to think about what makes a good holiday. First, a good holiday has tradition.
Remembering past holidays and stories about how the holiday originated make a holiday
memorable. A good holiday also has to have lots of fun. Having fun during a holiday makes it a
great break from regular life. The last aspect that makes a holiday great is soothing the problems of
daily life with family time. Enjoying what you lovewith those you love is a great feeling. Based on
this criteria, I feel the best holiday is the Jewish holiday of Hannukah. One of the best parts of a

CNC Vertical End Milling Machining is a widely accepted material removal process used to
manufacture components with complicated shapes and profiles. During the End milling process,
the material is removed by the end mill cutter. The quality of the surface plays a very important
role in the performance of milling as a good quality milled surface significantly improves fatigue
strength, corrosion resistance, or creep life. The surface generated during milling is affected by
different factors such as vibration, spindle run out, temperature, tool geometry, feed, cross feed,
tool path and other parameters. During finish milling, the depth of cut is small. The most important
interactions, that effect surface roughness of machined surfaces, are between the cutting feed and
depth of cut, and between cutting feed and spindle speed. Surface Roughness is affected
negatively if the applied force is increased. Surface roughness at the same feed rate becomes
higher when a small nose radius is used. Technological parameter range plays a very important role
on surface roughness. There is a need of a tool that should allow the evaluation of the surface
roughness before the machining of the part and which, at the same time, can easily be used in the
production floor environment contributing to the minimization of

Charles Darwin Outline
Charles Darwin
I. Introduction
A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life , (Charles
Darwin). Darwin meant that our lives are meant to be spent doing the things we want to do and
what would better ourselves. Darwin spent his life doing what he wanted to do rather than what
others would have approved of. Charles Darwin was an important and influential figure in history
that had a positive impact on the world because he had introduced many important ideas of
evolution to the world that challenged its current rules of life.
II. Early life/Childhood
According to his autobiography, Charles Darwin came into the world on February 12, 1809, in
Shrewsbury, England to Robert and Susannah Darwin. When Darwin was eight... Show more

Significant Accomplishments Some of Darwin s greatest accomplishments were writing a total
of twenty five books in his life about the field of biology. His theories on natural selection how it
affected the evolution of species, greatly bettered the field and now stands as the basis of the field
of evolution. He was the one to phrase his most memorable quote, Survival of the fittest , which
describes how only the best organisms of a species can reproduce.
V. Impact on the World Darwin made a grand impact on the world by introducing many people into
evolution and disproved the principles of Creationism with his theories on natural selection and
evolution (Darwinism). His contributions to science field in biology and geology changed how the
world sees life s history as not instantaneous rather a slow ongoing process.
VI. Lesson Learned From Their Life (Conclusion)
To end it all off, Charles Darwin challenged the current ideas of science at his time and changed it
for the better with his studies and theories. Had he given up, we would not likely have our current
understanding of the world of evolution and the history of life. Darwin showed us that we should

Newton s First Law
1) Newton s First Law is: Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state
of motion unless an external force is applied to it. A real world example of this is that a soccer
ball does not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an
object s massm, its acceleration a, and the applied forceF is F = ma. Acceleration and force are
vectors; in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the
acceleration vector. This applies to the design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high
acceleration behind it, leading to high force on impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every
action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law can be understood as when an individual
presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as the wall pushes back against your
action.
2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5
m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N?
Variables: m = mass = 10 kg Vo = initial velocity = 5 m/s V = final velocity = 4.8 m/s t = time of
observation = 2 s a = acceleration = ? m/s2 F = force acting = ? N
Relationships:
a = (V Vo)/t F = ma
Computations:
3) The weight G of an object is BY DEFINITION
G = m*g where g is the acceleration of gravity
Hence g = G/m = 0.3/275 =0.001091 m/s/s

Explainations of the Fog of Fear in Alan Axelrod’s,...
What is fear? Fear can be, and can come from, many things. It can come from everyday life
experiences, such as taking tests in school, or giving a speech in a meeting at work. Or from
things that frighten more people than just yourself. Such as going to war, being in an accident,
or in the midst of a public shooting. In Alan Axelrod s, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership
from FDR , Alan talks about fear, and his points are valid, for fear is like a fog, it can be
overcome, and that mankind has had worse things to fear than what is feared in his writing.
Alan Axelrod makes a very valid point in his text, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from
FDR , when he compares fear to fog. ..fear is not so much the sensation accompanying the
realization of danger, but a fog.. which means that fear is not just something you fear, but instead,
something that clouds your vision. With too much fear, it s all a person can see, they have
nightmares, flashbacks, and other things that make even the small things in life, frightening. Yet,
there are ways to overcome this fog, just like there are ways to overcome the fear itself. Evenso,
Alan Axelrod clearly places a good argument in relating fear to fog.
In, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Axelrod constructs an agreeable altercation
in saying that fear can be overcome. In his writing, Alan Axelrod talks about how Franklin D.
Roosevelt overcame his fear of plio. Having been diagnosed with polio and

Essay In Defense of Food
ENGWR 301

In Defense of Pollan When Michael Pollan s book The Omnivore s Dilemma was published,
many readers began questioning him for advice on what they should eat in order to stay healthy. In
his more recent book, In Defense of Food, he responds with three rules, Eat food. Not too much.
Mostly plants (Pollan 1). This seven word response seems too simple for a relatively complicated
question, but as he further elaborates these rules into specific guidelines, this summary turns out to
be surprisingly complete. Using inductive and deductive reasoning, he debunks the ideas behind
nutritionism and food science, and proves that the western diet is the cause for food related
diseases. Inductive reasoning is when a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While nutritionism is suppose to scientifically guide us to eat healthy, Pollan points out that there is
no scientific evidence to back it. Instead, he provides research conducted by Harvard nutrition
scientist that proves the opposite. In the public s mind [...] words like low fat and fat free have
been synonymous with heart health. It is now increasingly recognized that low fat campaign
has been based on little scientific evidence and may have caused unintended health
consequences. (Pollan 43). In Based off these observations, Pollan uses inductive reasoning to
draw the conclusion that nutritionism is more harmful then helpful. When Pollan s states to eat
food as his first rule, he means exactly that, eat real food. While this statement seems so obvious
that it shouldn t need to be a rule, Pollan explains how we are trapped by the Western diet and
that access to real food over highly processed food products is harder then it seems. Taking food
s place on the shelves has been an unending stream of foodlike substitutes, some seventeen
thousands new ones every year (Pollan 147). For those that don t know, the Western diet is a term
coined to describe our pattern of eating, which is characterized by lots of processed foods and
meat, lots of added fat and sugar, lots of everything except fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
(Pollan 89). Using deductive reasoning,

The action of vampirism is trying to exploit another, and usually the exploited one is female. In
The Princess Bride, William Goldman sets up many vampires to try and belittle the main character
Buttercup. Vizzini, Prince Humperdinck, and her father to name a few. They each play a role in
her adventure of life, but Prince Humperdinck is the largest vampire of the book. On their first
meeting, he greets her I am your Prince and you will marry me Humperdinck said (Goldman.

is the prince. He doesn t even say hello to her, which is a true sign of vampirism. Almost forcing
someone against their will to do something, more than likely sucking the life from her. He goes

corrupt, outworn values (Foster,19). Goldman makes Humperdinck a prime example of a

Transformational Learning Within The Student Athlete
Recent studies have demonstrated the powerful impact of transformational learning on feelings of
cynicism among college students (Duarte, 2010). Transformational learning within the student
athlete population has not been empirically studied, although the potential benefits are enormous as
student athletes have been found to experience feelings of cynicism throughout their collegiate
careers, despite initial feelings of optimism (Adler Adler, 1985). The commercialized nature of
intercollegiate athletics today presents a unique environment in which to implement effective
studentathlete focused career development interventions. Student athletes face developmental
difficulties unique to the student athlete experience within a socially, athletically, and academically
micromanaged context (Duarte, 2010). Transformational learningcan exist as a byproduct of
emancipatory learning, which can help student athletes navigate the demands of conflicting roles,
reflect critically, and negotiate profound transitions. Transformational learning has the potential to
enhance student athlete specific career development initiatives. The barriers of transformational
learning among the student athlete population will be examined within a social, developmental,
and psychological context. The Five Step Career Planning Strategy considers all aspects of an
athlete s life, which may help student athletes balance their conflicting roles, while encouraging

The South American Megacity New York And The Asian...
1.0 Introduction
The world as we know it is experiencing an unprecedented shift for the first time witnessed in
human history. It wasn t even 100 years ago that the world was still overwhelmingly rural with
global urban population rates around 10%. Fast forward to 2015, now accounting for roughly
around 53% of the worlds population living in cities and is projected to rise to around 67% by
2050.1 The comparative analysis sets out to understand the opportunities and challenges among
the North American megacity New York and the Asian megacity of Beijing. The metropolitan
area of both New York and Beijing consist of a population each over 10 million people, which
generally defines as a megacity. A megacity can also be coined as world city, global city,
megalopolis, metropolis, conurbation, and agglomeration. Megacities such as New York and
Beijing are comprised of a central core, surrounded by satellite cities within daily commuting
distances, separated by greenspace. Thus, urban agglomerations can be numerous cities and towns
when they are linked by the flows of people, goods, and information, as long as the aggregate
population exceeds 10 million.2
Sustainable development of megacities offers a new concept for the world economy in the twenty

Blenders Are Better Than Juice
Juicing has become a popular trend recently, especially with the increase in awareness about
health. However, a lot of people don t understand how to properly juice their fruits and
vegetables, and mistakenly use a blender. There is also a lot of talk about the best blender for
juicing, when the truth is, blenders are never appropriate. Blenders function in a totally different
way than juicers do. Blenders make smoothies, not juice. What s the difference between smoothies
and juice? Smoothies are mixtures made up of finely chopped fibers, pulp, and juice, all in one
drink. Smoothies tend to be on the thicker side of things and hold more calories than juice alone
does. Juice, on the other hand, is pure liquid, separated entirely from the fiber... Show more content

It s possible to squeeze the juice from fruits and vegetables by hand, but that is a long, time
consuming process. It s also a lot of work; you ll burn a ton of calories doing it! However, if
there s no other alternative, consider hand juicing. Otherwise, consider purchasing a juicer
online. Most of them tend to be rather inexpensive. Decent quality juicers can be bought for just
$50 or so, and they produce much better results than a blender. Remember, even if you own a
high quality, very expensive blender, it s still not going to provide you with juicing quality
results; there is simply no best blender for juicing. A juicing diet can be very rewarding. Not
only does it allow you to lose weight with minimal effort, but you can cleanse your body of
harmful toxins and materials you didn t even know you had in your system. While there is no
best blender for juicing, doing it by hand or purchasing a juicer can be a beneficial alternative.
With a bit of effort, you could be in the best shape you ve been in years. No matter how effective
your blender may be, it just won t give the results a quality juicing machine

Karl Marx, Commodity Fetishism, An Objective, Valuable For...
To begin with I can t but mention that without assessing(considering, evaluating) Commodity
Fetishism both from the points of view of the philosophers of the past and economists and
businessmen of the present it s not an easy task to investigate the subject.
According to Karl Marx Commodity Fetishism is the perception of the social relationships involved
in production as economic relationships among the money and commodities exchanged in market
trade .
In simple words it s the cult of the things selected and providing them with super valuation.
Commodity Fetishism transforms abstract, subjective aspects of economic value into real,
objective, valuable for people things.
Let me say a few words about the human nature. Each of us is material. We are sure we need
more than we really need to survive. That s probably, the main reason why socialism was unable to
compete with capitalism, especially former Soviet republics closed for bright, new, modern or brand
new trade marks. Big and small stuff becomes an integral part and an accompaniment(a supplement)
to a personality.
Speaking about the effects of Commodity Fetishism I should emphasize that they are not confined
to the sphere of production but permeate every sphere of social life. Social relationships become
the property of things and the form of false consciousness concealing real conditions.
The global effect of commodity fetishism is that we have become the society of consumers. We
have reached the freedom for but not

Drought Is A Natural Hazard
Abstract:
Drought is a natural hazard due to adverse climatic changes which affects various sectors like
environment, society and economy. It occurs not only because of the scarcity of rainfall but also
due to the inefficient water resource management. Studies indicate that over 30% of the entire land
surface of earth is affected by drought. As a developing country, majority of Indian population
depends directly or indirectly on agriculture. So the abnormal monsoon precipitation, causing loss
of agricultural production, can highly influence the human life. In this paper, Karur district in Tamil
Nadu which often has a very low annual rainfall is taken as the study area for drought monitoring.
The technological evolution in remote sensing over the past few decades has opened a new era in
the field of drought monitoring. Thus, use of remote sensing and GIS helps in developing early
warnings about drought conditions which will be useful for planning the strategies for relief
work. Drought analysis can be performed by calculating different drought indices like Standard
Precipitation Index (SPI), Standardized Water Level Index (SWI) and Normalized Differences
Vegetation Index (NDVI).Rainfall data from 2000 2009 is used to compute the Standardized
Precipitation Index (SPI) in different time scales which is used in meteorological drought
monitoring. Standardized Water Level Index (SWI) obtained from ground water level data is used
for the hydrological drought analysis.

Security Authentication Four processes are in the security authentication process. These steps are: 1)
Identification, 2) Authentication, 3) Authorization, and 4) Accountability.
It is vital to integrate these four steps into any network intended to be secure. Properly configured
a secured network will be able to protect itself from attacks like PW hacking, DDOS attacks, brute
force attacks, and insiders abusing their system rights (internal and external). Identification is the
first of the four steps in this process. Any user that expects to gain access to a system referred to as
a supplicant, and the tool that every user who gains entry to the network, referred to as an Identifier.
The identifier can have many different methods for identifying the supplicant. The identifier should
be able to locate the users credentials from a database of unique information that determines the
supplicants identity. The most common form of verification is done using the employees first and
last name. In case there are
Coworkers with common names, such as John Doe, employee Id s or Social Security numbers are
utilized. In most companies, they are no longer using the employee s Social Security number to
identify them in their system. They are replacing them with an employee ID. This reduces the
information that a network intruder (also known as a hacker) or another employee gaining access
to their Social Security numbers.
Authentication is the second

Jeremiah Vs. Ruben s Miracles In Tin L. Enger
Opening the novel, it is immediately apparent that Jeremiah causes many miracles, such as Ruben s
miraculous birth after not breathing for twelve minutes. These godlike miracles aren t normal to
people except the Lands. When Reuben goes outside to calm himself, he finds his dad on the back
of a truck, pacing and praying. Then, he went on pacing Godas my witness walking on air. (17)
Enger uses biblical references all throughout the book to compare the two. Jeremiah walking on air
is easily comparable to Jesuswalking on water, because both men are walking on something
impossible and any normal man can t do. This helps for sure turn Jeremiah into a Christ like figure.
Later progressing in the story, a traveling salesman, Tin Lurvy,

How Did The Scottsboro Trial Impact America
The Scottsboro trial impacted America as a whole. The nine men being convicted of rape did not
have a fair trial. During the 1930s, America was in a time of very serious segregation. If a black
man supposedly slept with a Southern white women they would be lynched. A specific example of
this would be when the Scottsboro boyswere going to jail, a crowd of over 100 people tried to lynch
them (Douglas O. Linder). In the time period, America had many raceriots, so this incident would
not be surprising. The Black men were trailed in separate cases (Linder). They were found guilty,
an obvious verdict because of their ethnicity. The southerners believed that Blacks were criminals
and should be sentenced to death if they were accused of committing

Food Stamps Research Paper
This writing will be about the usage of food stamps, or maybe I should say the abuse of food
stamps. I see a lot of food stamp abuse in my work environment and i would like to find out how
they really work and if the system is really abused. I intend to learn and research about the
background of food stamps and how the system really got started along with its original intentions.
I would also like to research people s personal encounters with them, may it be what they have seen
or the stories of the people who actually have them, whether they abuse them or use them for their
good.
Part II: What I Know, Assume, or Imagine
Food stamps have helped a lot of people out and I have no doubt about that in my mind. Many
families depend on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Part III: The Search There is a lot of information about EBT Cards and food stamps amongst the
internet. Many different websites offer a plethora of information, Really one for every state because
all of the programs are different in every state. My hardest source to collect information from was
books. I found many books providing information about food but none mentioning anything about
the food stamp program.
Part IV: What I discovered
Throughout my research, I have gathered a lot of useful information about food stamps, also
known as Common Benefit Identification Card (CBIC) (New). Food stamps are a valuable
resource for many lower class families and less fortunate individuals. It is the nation s highest anti
hunger program and helps many people. According to fns.usda.gov, Electronic Benefits Transfer

Head Injury In Sports
Head injuries have always been a huge deal in sports. Player can t just jump right back in after
they get a concussion; They need to take time and heal before coming back to the game. The
consequences of playing while still injured is insane with long term effects and short term the
player needs to make sure he/she is fully healed before returning to the field.
The Brain is one of the most vital parts of the body so when a player is hurt in a game it s very
important that they get the help they need and off the field as soon as possible this is already
happening with sideline medics at most if not every game ready to assist players when injured

Similarities Between Dipper And Mabel Pines In Gravity Falls
Dipper and Mabel Pines are twins and the main protagonists in the Disney XD television series,
Gravity Falls, written and directed by Alex Hirsch. In general terms, Gravity Falls is about Dipper
and Mabel, otherwise known as the mystery twins (Irrational Treasure), who were raised in
Piedmont, California, and sent to Gravity Falls, Oregon to spend their summer vacation with their
great uncle, or Grunkle Stan Pines in the woods. When they reach their destination, they find out
that Grunkle Stan is a complete con artist who runs a tourist trap called The Mystery Shack.
According to Dipper, the real mystery was why anyone visited (Tourist Trapped). Between Gravity

They compare and contrast in appearance, and most of all personality. Dipper and Mabel have
always been there for each other (Weirdmageddon 2: Escape from Reality), and through their
struggles and discovering their differences, they learn to support each other through thick and
thin, and understand their power when working together, even when their appearances and
personalities are similar and/or different. Appearance Firstly, since Dipper and Mabel are
identical twins, they are bound to have similarities in physical appearance from facial features to
body types. However, there are numerous differences, in complexion, and most importantly, in
the way they dress. Similarities in Appearance First of all, Dipper and Mabel have similar facial
structures, and in reality, the proportions of their bodies and faces are designed exactly the same.
Of their natural physical features, the only differences between them is that Mabel has got exactly
one millimeter on [Dipper] (Little Dipper), and Dipper has a birthmark on his forehead that
resembles the Big Dipper. Physical appearances that are based off of the characters self expression
such as hair, clothing, and the conditions of their bodies are completely different. Other than the
fact that both Dipper and Mabel have brown hair, since they are, after all, twins, the lengths of their
hair are

Sympathy In The Phantom Of The Opera
The first thing that comes to someone s mind when they think about a phantom or a ghost,
usually does not involve a real human or the word sympathy. In the novel, The Phantom of the
Opera by Gaston Leroux, this actually is the case. A deformed human, who lives deep under the
opera and is stuck in a love triangle, causes problems for the people of the opera. The real
definition of sympathy is: feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else s misfortune (123). Which
does not apply to the Phantom because ultimately he is not a sympathetic character. He had a bad
past and he doesn t care about others which leads him to killand torture people for no apparent
reason. The Opera Ghost isn t just unsympathetic while he lives in the Opera, but he was also
unsympathetic as a child and younger adult. Back when he was in Mazenderan working for the
Little Sultana, he murders many people: He had lived in India and acquired and incredible skill
in the art of strangulation. He would make them lock him into a courtyard to which they brought
a warrior usually, a man condemned to death armed with a long pike and a broad sword. Erik
had only his lasso... Erik tightened the noose round his adversary s neck and, in this fashion,
dragged him before the little sultana and her women, who sat looking from a window and
applauding (Leroux 140). Yes, all the men that he kills have already been condemned to death,
but he mercilessly kills them without knowing their story or feeling any sorrow or pity for the
person he is about to kill. This shows that the Opera Ghost, Erik, is a very unsympathetic
character in the novel. Children learn from their parents and as they get older they tend to do a
lot of the same things, in the same way, that their parents do. ... My mother, daroga, my poor,
unhappy mother would never ... let me kiss her ... she used to run away ... and throw me my
mask! (167). His mother never felt sorry for him, and she never had any sympathy for him. He
might have learned from her that you don t have to feel bad for people, or possibly he just
thought that his situation is the worst and no one has it has bad as he does; so why should he take
his time to feel bad for them? The fact that he has a torture chamber in his

Descriptive Essay About The Picasso
The Picasso It was my first day in the United States of America, travelling all the way from Nepal
to witness this amazing city. I was mesmerized by the skyline and obviously the food. I was
carving for my native Nepali food and to my amazement, there are many restaurants of nearly all the
cuisines. Chicagois a city with over 2.7 million residents (Wikipedia, City of Chicago), living in
the biting cold weather still happy and trying to cope up with the hustle and bustle of the big
city. It has nearly all the ethnic cultures within the neighborhood, if one wants to experience any
of these ethnic cultures they simply need to pay a visit to these neighborhoods. Now, talking
about the skyline the architecture is amazing, done with perfection and will leave you awe
struck. It masters in all the international styles and the maintenance of these buildings are the top
priority for the Chicagoans. I didn t find a single building in a bad condition and not only the
buildings look good they are very safe too. All the buildings have well maintained facilities in
case of an emergency. I took a short nap in the hotel and then left for a city tour, which was
offered by the Chicago trolley. There I saw a huge dark metal structure which was challenging you
to interpret it. I got down and started admiring the structure and was trying to understand the artist
s purpose. I noticed it was called The Picasso , it left me in a deep thought on what is the purpose
of the gift and the history

The concern of a gun crime being committed by a young man/woman is high, but what if they want to go hunting with their father? It doesn t seem so bad now. Some people may think that our President isn t effective enough, but there are too many people supporting each side for the President to make a large, yet fair decision. There may be two sides to the story, but what is the right option? This question of safety and gun control has become part of an on going controversy due to views on The Constitution, the national gun control laws, as well as the fact that most Americans would like an updated background checking system. The discussions about citizens rights to bear arms go back to ancient times. Political theorists from ancient Rome, John Locke of England, and Jean Jacques Rousseau of France viewed the possession of arms as a sign of personal freedom and a crucial element of government. The precise meaning and purpose of the Second Amendment has been an issue of major controversy. Gun control supporters argue that when the Second Amendment was adopted in 1791, each state enabled a militia, composed of ordinary citizens who served as part time soldiers. Fearing that the federal government would use its army to force its will on the states, the authors of the Second Amendment intended to protect the state militias right to bear arms. Nixon In the landmark court case of United States vs. Nixon the court had denied Nixon s presidential power of executive privilege to halt the subpoena against him. The court concluded that his exercised power was not absolute and the need for evidence outweighed the presidential privilege as it was infringing on a criminal case. This case against Nixon was a result of one of the worst presidential scandals in U.S. history. The scandal was the Watergate scandal. The presidential scandal known as Watergate was a shameful incident within the history of American presidents. It was a scandal that later set precedent on the limitation of presidential powers. It was a time when the president was viewed as a tyrannical power. Furthermore as a result, there were numerous consequences, which led to reforms that are still impacting our government as well as the presidency. The many crimes that Nixon and his administration committed in attempt to cover up involvement throughout the Watergate ordeal resulted in the prosecution of many of high level government officials. It also led to the only presidential resignation in history in August of 1974. During this time in American history, America was in the midst of the Vietnam War, a war that nobody liked or really understood. Regardless of the style of riding people participate in or favor, each world of riding opens up various activities for the rider to enjoy. From the election of Andrew Jackson, and the implementation of the Indian Removal Act. The Creeks, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole and their actions against the removal process. Finally, how the Cherokeeused the legal process to fight evacuation of their nation. Andrew Jackson was not the first president to order the removal of Indians, but he is definitely the most infamous. He was elected as the seventh president of the United States in 1828. Not long after being sworn into office he began to push the issue of Indian removal. He is quoted in a book by John Ehle as saying Build a fire under them. When it gets hot enough they ll move (Ehle 220). He is stating that with enough harassment and persistence the natives will be moved from their land. Under Jackson s promotion the Indian Removal Act was passed in 1830. This granted him the authority to begin moving the Native Americans to the west of the Mississippi River. So, over the next two decades the Native Americans were removed from their eastern lands and relocated to what is present day Oklahoma. Those who could not be negotiated with were forcefully removed. This brings forth a load of drama that plays directly into hands of the villain of the story: Iago. He carries a huge grudge against the main character: Othello. The storyline in this play is so dramatic and complicated it can be compared to a television soap nowadays. The main characteristic of a soap is: an emphasis on family life, personal relationships, sexual dramas, emotional and moral conflict. In my opinion the setting of the play, the relationships within and Iago s role contribute to making Othello 17th century television soap. The study was done by tracking a total number of 533 mammal species for an overall of 11 million years. The team looked for specific instances in which the appendix had disappeared or reappeared. When the organ would reappear this would show that there was an evolutionary necessity for the appendix. Through this research and intense study it was discovered that the appendix reappeared in mammals between 29 and 41 times. The organ had only disappeared from lineages 12 times; this strongly suggests that the appendix provides a function to the body that has not been discovered. With males having more freedom to commit delinquent acts, there was doubt that the men were the majority of the population of prisons. As time passed and women began to embrace their liberations, more and more of them began working outside the home. This sudden rise of women in the workplace led to the shift in families. I chose this career due to my passionate interest in wildlife and my personal character. I have not chosen what career branch I would like to partake in because of the numerous options. But that requires additional research that will be sought out during the upcoming years of college. A Zoologist is a person who studies wildlife, the habitat of wildlife and how animals adapt to it. In addition, they also study the behavior of animals, animal characteristics, and how they react to human activity. The purpose of a Zoologist is to experiment, researchand study animals. This could mean in the wild itself or in a controlled area. Overall, Zoologist overlook the large picture of animal communities and how specieswork in life. The skills you need to become a well practiced zoologist are traits I have found in myself. Of course, the interest of researching animas is the most important. But you also need communication skills, a strong logical problem solving approach, keen observation skills, and can independently or as a team. Introduction CNC Vertical End Milling Machining is a widely accepted material removal process used to manufacture components with complicated shapes and profiles. During the End milling process, the material is removed by the end mill cutter. The quality of the surface plays a very important role in the performance of milling as a good quality milled surface significantly improves fatigue strength, corrosion resistance, or creep life. The surface generated during milling is affected by different factors such as vibration, spindle run out, temperature, tool geometry, feed, cross feed, tool path and other parameters. During finish milling, the depth of cut is small. The most important interactions, that effect surface roughness of machined surfaces, are between the cutting feed and depth of cut, and between cutting feed and spindle speed. Surface Roughness is affected negatively if the applied force is increased. Surface roughness at the same feed rate becomes higher when a small nose radius is used. Technological parameter range plays a very important role on surface roughness. There is a need of a tool that should allow the evaluation of the surface roughness before the machining of the part and which, at the same time, can easily be used in the production floor environment contributing to the minimization of ... A real world example of this is that a soccer ball does not move until it is kicked. Newton s Second Law is that the relationship between an object s massm, its acceleration a, and the applied forceF is F = ma. Acceleration and force are vectors; in this law the direction of the force vector is the same as the direction of the acceleration vector. This applies to the design of a bullet. A bullet has low mass with high acceleration behind it, leading to high force on impact. Newton s Third Law is that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. This law can be understood as when an individual presses against a wall that they do not fall through the wall as the wall pushes back against your action. 2) A 10 kg bowling ball is slowing down at a constant rate. In two seconds, its velocity drops from 5 m/s to 4.8 m/s. What is the total force acting on the ball, in N? • 35. Explainations of the Fog of Fear in Alan Axelrod’s,... What is fear? Fear can be, and can come from, many things. It can come from everyday life experiences, such as taking tests in school, or giving a speech in a meeting at work. Or from things that frighten more people than just yourself. Such as going to war, being in an accident, or in the midst of a public shooting. In Alan Axelrod s, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Alan talks about fear, and his points are valid, for fear is like a fog, it can be overcome, and that mankind has had worse things to fear than what is feared in his writing. Alan Axelrod makes a very valid point in his text, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , when he compares fear to fog. ..fear is not so much the sensation accompanying the realization of danger, but a fog.. which means that fear is not just something you fear, but instead, something that clouds your vision. With too much fear, it s all a person can see, they have nightmares, flashbacks, and other things that make even the small things in life, frightening. Yet, there are ways to overcome this fog, just like there are ways to overcome the fear itself. Evenso, Alan Axelrod clearly places a good argument in relating fear to fog. In, Nothing to Fear: Lessons in Leadership from FDR , Axelrod constructs an agreeable altercation in saying that fear can be overcome. In his writing, Alan Axelrod talks about how Franklin D. Roosevelt overcame his fear of plio. Having been diagnosed with polio and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This seven word response seems too simple for a relatively complicated question, but as he further elaborates these rules into specific guidelines, this summary turns out to be surprisingly complete. It is now increasingly recognized that low fat campaign has been based on little scientific evidence and may have caused unintended health consequences. (Pollan 43). • 45. Blenders Are Better Than Juice Juicing has become a popular trend recently, especially with the increase in awareness about health. However, a lot of people don t understand how to properly juice their fruits and vegetables, and mistakenly use a blender. There is also a lot of talk about the best blender for juicing, when the truth is, blenders are never appropriate. Blenders function in a totally different way than juicers do. Blenders make smoothies, not juice. What s the difference between smoothies and juice? Smoothies are mixtures made up of finely chopped fibers, pulp, and juice, all in one drink. Smoothies tend to be on the thicker side of things and hold more calories than juice alone does. Juice, on the other hand, is pure liquid, separated entirely from the fiber... • 46. Karl Marx, Commodity Fetishism, An Objective, Valuable For... To begin with I can t but mention that without assessing(considering, evaluating) Commodity Fetishism both from the points of view of the philosophers of the past and economists and businessmen of the present it s not an easy task to investigate the subject. According to Karl Marx Commodity Fetishism is the perception of the social relationships involved in production as economic relationships among the money and commodities exchanged in market trade . In simple words it s the cult of the things selected and providing them with super valuation. Commodity Fetishism transforms abstract, subjective aspects of economic value into real, objective, valuable for people things. Let me say a few words about the human nature. Each of us is material. We are sure we need more than we really need to survive. That s probably, the main reason why socialism was unable to compete with capitalism, especially former Soviet republics closed for bright, new, modern or brand new trade marks. Big and small stuff becomes an integral part and an accompaniment(a supplement) to a personality. Speaking about the effects of Commodity Fetishism I should emphasize that they are not confined to the sphere of production but permeate every sphere of social life. Social relationships become the property of things and the form of false consciousness concealing real conditions. The global effect of commodity fetishism is that we have become the society of consumers. We have reached the freedom for but not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Drought Is A Natural Hazard Abstract: Drought is a natural hazard due to adverse climatic changes which affects various sectors like environment, society and economy. It occurs not only because of the scarcity of rainfall but also due to the inefficient water resource management. Studies indicate that over 30% of the entire land surface of earth is affected by drought. As a developing country, majority of Indian population depends directly or indirectly on agriculture. So the abnormal monsoon precipitation, causing loss of agricultural production, can highly influence the human life. In this paper, Karur district in Tamil Nadu which often has a very low annual rainfall is taken as the study area for drought monitoring. The technological evolution in remote sensing over the past few decades has opened a new era in the field of drought monitoring. Thus, use of remote sensing and GIS helps in developing early warnings about drought conditions which will be useful for planning the strategies for relief work. Drought analysis can be performed by calculating different drought indices like Standard Precipitation Index (SPI), Standardized Water Level Index (SWI) and Normalized Differences Vegetation Index (NDVI).Rainfall data from 2000 2009 is used to compute the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) in different time scales which is used in meteorological drought monitoring. Standardized Water Level Index (SWI) obtained from ground water level data is used for the hydrological drought analysis. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A specific example of this would be when the Scottsboro boyswere going to jail, a crowd of over 100 people tried to lynch them (Douglas O. Linder). In the time period, America had many raceriots, so this incident would not be surprising. The Black men were trailed in separate cases (Linder). • 56. Sympathy In The Phantom Of The Opera The first thing that comes to someone s mind when they think about a phantom or a ghost, usually does not involve a real human or the word sympathy. In the novel, The Phantom of the Opera by Gaston Leroux, this actually is the case. A deformed human, who lives deep under the opera and is stuck in a love triangle, causes problems for the people of the opera. The real definition of sympathy is: feelings of pity and sorrow for someone else s misfortune (123). Which does not apply to the Phantom because ultimately he is not a sympathetic character. He had a bad past and he doesn t care about others which leads him to killand torture people for no apparent reason. The Opera Ghost isn t just unsympathetic while he lives in the Opera, but he was also unsympathetic as a child and younger adult. Back when he was in Mazenderan working for the Little Sultana, he murders many people: He had lived in India and acquired and incredible skill in the art of strangulation. He would make them lock him into a courtyard to which they brought a warrior usually, a man condemned to death armed with a long pike and a broad sword. Erik had only his lasso... Erik tightened the noose round his adversary s neck and, in this fashion, dragged him before the little sultana and her women, who sat looking from a window and applauding (Leroux 140). Yes, all the men that he kills have already been condemned to death, but he mercilessly kills them without knowing their story or feeling any sorrow or pity for the person he is about to kill. This shows that the Opera Ghost, Erik, is a very unsympathetic character in the novel.
