Hunger World Hunger
World hunger has become an increasing problem within society. Globally, one in nine people in the
world today (795 million) are undernourished. (United Nations) Many individuals, especially those in
developing countries are restricted from being able access food. This could be due to various reasons
such as: poverty, distribution, inequality etc. As a result of unjust starvation, it is estimated that 3.1
million children die annually from hunger. In 2011 poor nutrition caused forty five percent of children
under the age of five to die. (World hunger facts) Hunger is described in the dictionary as a feeling of
discomfort or weakness caused by a lack of food. Hunger and starvation has the potential to be
diminished according to OXFAM Canada which reports that there is enough food to feed the world
population. Due to the suffering and death of many hunger victims, a plea to find a cure to world
hunger is strong. Focusing on the solutions to the global food crisis is critical for the survival of
human beings.
Returning to agriculture s roots has potential to support the alleviation of unnecessary starvation
within the world. Modern practices of farming are often quite different than they were one hundred
years ago. Modernly, many farmers use fertilizers and pesticides on their crops as protection from
harmful insects and plant diseases. However, fueling one s body with vegetation that is covered in
toxic chemicals is harmful? Joseph Mercola, a physician who specializes in

Research Paper On Patrick Henry
Patrick Henry was and still is a very important man in history. He spoke some of the most famous
lines in history. He was an important part of history for many reasons. Patrick was born on May 29,
1736 in Studley, Virginia. He was best known for his speech Give me liberty or give me death . When
he was younger he tried growing tobacco but failed trying after three years. So he started studying law,
he became a lawyer in 1770 because he was fascinated by politics, and everything in general about
law. He became a famous lawyer because of the Parson s case . Before he became a famous lawyer he
went to trials in a nearby court. He soon came to marry a lady named Sarah Shelton, they got married
in 1754 but their marriage came to an end because she died in 1775. He married a lady named
Dorethea Dandridge, between her and sarah they had 17 children. Patrick was a lawyer, patriot, orator,
and a willing participant in virtually every aspect of founding america. He was also in the sons and
daughters of liberty. He was an outspoken opponent of the Stamp and Townshend Acts levied by
England, he stirred the seeds of discord with his famous Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death speech to
the Virginia Assembly in 1775. Henry served a role in the overthrow of the royally appointed Virginia
leadership and was elected governor multiple times. Although he opposed the formation of the U.S.
Constitution as a threat to the liberties of the people and the rights of the states, his criticisms

Fitness Plan For A Leisure Wellness Plan
Introduction As counselors we are required to take care of one s mental health and wellness. We have
holistic, nurturing and client centered training. In doing so many counselors help their clients out by
making a Leisure wellness plan. This plan is something that a client or individual can follow to keep
themselves healthy and active. A Leisure plan is something that makes you help yourself feel better
emotionally, mentally and physically. As stated by Elizabeth Venart a private practitioner (2011), The
Importance of self care is overtly discussed and modeled by faculty, and the curriculum of each course
includes an emphasis on self assessment and reflection as well as the development and
implementation of concrete wellness plans and practices (p.47). Leisure is seen as relaxing but at the
same time working to take care of yourself to create the best version of you.
Why do we need Wellness and Leisure?
Keeping well is required for counselors and health care workers. Being in such a stressful field means
that one must maintain a healthy and well lifestyle. Assessing one s self care not only helps the
counselor grow as an individual it helps them see difficulties in others. One s thinking could be
clouded and faced with stress due to lack of self care. If a client doesn t treat themselves right it s
going be more difficult for them to move on from their current issue. By staying strong and keeping
active makes your mind and body feel at ease and causes less tension. By

IV. Supplier Power
A producing industry requires raw materials labor, components, and other supplies. This requirement
leads to buyer supplier relationships between the industry and the firms that provide it the raw
materials used to create products. Suppliers, if powerful, can exert an influence on the producing
industry, such as selling raw materials at a high price to capture some of the industry s profits. The
following tables outline some factors that determine supplier power.

From a strategic perspective, barriers can be created or exploited to enhance a firm s competitive
advantage. Barriers to entry arise from several sources:
Government creates barriers. Although the principal role of the government in a market is to preserve
competition through anti trust actions, government also restricts competition through the granting of
monopolies and through regulation. Industries such as utilities are considered natural monopolies
because it has been more efficient to have one electric company provide power to a locality than to
permit many electric companies to compete in a local market. To restrain utilities from exploiting this
advantage, government permits a monopoly, but regulates the industry. Illustrative of this kind of
barrier to entry is the local cable company. The franchise to a cable provider may be granted by
competitive bidding, but once the franchise is awarded by a community a monopoly is created. Local
governments were not effective in monitoring price gouging by cable operators, so the federal
government has enacted legislation to review and restrict prices.
The regulatory authority of the government in restricting competition is historically evident in the
banking industry. Until the 1970 s, the markets that banks could enter were limited by state
governments. As a result, most banks were local commercial and

Arthritis Case Studies
According to the case study, once after the woman was diagnosed as having the early rheumatoid
arthritis, she was treated with Ibuprofen and after six months, blood test was done for rheumatoid
arthritis and gave positive results. So, with those results, she is being treated with low dose
methotrexate. Joint destruction in rheumatoid arthritis begins within a few weeks of symptom onset
and early treatment decreases the rate of disease progression, therefore, it is vital to diagnose the
disease and initiate the treatment as soon as possible. The ACRSRA recommends that patients with
suspected rheumatoid arthritis be brought up within three months of presentation for confirmation of
diagnosis and initiation of treatment with disease modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs).
Therapeutic goals include preservation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In monozygotic twins, there is a more than 30 percent concordance rate for rheumatoid arthritis

susceptibility to more severe disease by causing a specific arthrogenic peptide to be presented to
CD4+ T cells (Rindfleisch Muller, 2005) Alleles of the major histocompatibility complex class II
(MHC II) have been identified as risk alleles for RA. RA risk alleles may also be located outside of
the MHC, as a number of non MHC alleles have recently been identified. Examples include PTPN22,
STAT4, and TRAF1 C5 amongst several others. However, alleles located on the MHC contribute to
30% of the genetic burden of RA as opposed to 3 5% of non MHC alleles. Interestingly, from the non
MHC risk alleles, PTNPN22 locus appears to discuss the strongest risk for RA in European
populations (Richa, et al,

A View From The Bridge Conflict
A View from the bridge by Arthur Miller
Examine the ideas of manliness, hostility and aggression in a view from the bridge . How are these
ideas connected?
In this essay I will examine the ideas of manliness, hostility and aggression are connected to each
other in a view from the bridge .
The play is set in a slum near the Brooklyn Bridge. In the story the main character is Eddie carbone
and we see many sides to this character throughout the play. Eddie carbone is a middle aged man
going through a mid life crisis. Many things are causing this mid life crisis, but the main thing and the
most obvious one is the relationship between Catherine and Radolpho. Catherine is the niece of his
wife, Beatrice. Catherine s parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believes that you should put your families needs before your own. He lives up to these beliefs
because he has many times worked as hard as he could, gone through starvation just so there was food
on the table for Catherine and Beatrice. I know this because Eddie says
I took out of my own mouth to give to her... ...I walked hungry plenty days in this city! in the play.
Marco, who is the elder of the two illegally immigrated cousins, does live up to Eddie s views of
masculinity. He is everything that Eddie believes a man should be. The reason he immigrated into the
country was to provide for is hungry family back in his home in Sicily. He wants his family to have
food on the table just like Eddie does. Marco came to the country because he thought that if he worked
and earned money he could send it back home to his wife and kids,
If I stay there they will never grow up.
Eddie takes a liking to Marco straight away. We can see that he respects him because of what he is
hoping to do for his family, he seems very interested in Marco and asks a lot of questions,
So what re you wanna do, you gonna stay here in this country or you wanna go back? and
Well, you re married, ain t you? It then becomes clear that Eddie is losing, or he thinks he is losing, his
role of the dominant man in the household. Eddie has always believed that dominant person in the
family but now that he has met Marco he feels threatened. He

the story of their recent lives. They were Palestinian Arabs who had come to Jerusalem on holiday

impossible to get back home. Their money was dwindling and the banks were unable to transfer. They
and many like them were faced with the problem of real hunger. Mr. Mattar visited the bank daily, but
nothing was coming through. A day came when they finished the last of their food for breakfast. So

Gallipoli Mission Command Analysis
Mission Command: Anzac Cove Landing The Battle of Gallipoli, or the Gallipoli Campaign, was
fought during the First World War. It is known by either name because the Battle of Gallipoli featured
many different battles and phases that comprised the entirety of the campaign. This engagement began
on February 17, 1915 and ended on January 9, 1916. The Allied forces were tasked with attempting to
secure the strait. The purpose of this was twofold: first, it provided the Russian Empire with much
needed shipping access, and second, it would serve to cut the Ottoman Empire in half. The Allies also
planned to capture the capital of the Ottoman Empire during this operation. The British and the French
attempted to launch a combined naval offensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was placed in command of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. Prior to the landings on
the Gallipoli peninsula, the general decided to split his forces. As Powles described: The New Zealand
and Australian Division normally also had two mounted brigades assigned to it, but these had been left
in Egypt, as it was believed there would be no requirement or opportunities to use mounted troops on
the peninsula. (Powles, 1922) This is an example of accepting prudent risk. However, here, the general
made a poor choice because he could have utilized those brigades had they dismounted upon landing.
The accounts of why he made this particular decision vary greatly. Some historians believe he did it
because he did not have the resources to transport the troops from Egypt to Turkey. Other accounts
argue that he did not believe that the enemy merited the extra troops. Regardless of the reason behind
the choice, the general did not correctly exercise prudent risk in this case. The landing at Anzac Cove
was set to send the 1st Australian Division ashore first. Their task was to establish strong points on
Gun Ridge, and the purpose behind this pass the 3rd Infantry Brigade in order to facilitate their
capture of the remainder of Gun Ridge. Then, with the capture of Gun Ridge, the 2nd Infantry Brigade
would execute a forward passage of lines to capture of the high ground of Sari Bair. Looking at this
action through the lens of mission command, it is a

Pros And Cons Of Command Economic System
Economic Systems
In today s world, we are faced with the everyday question of what the best way to run an economy is.
There have been many different attempts to create the perfect economic system that adjusts to the
needs of each citizen, while maintaining a strong market system in which the people create ideas and
product and keep control. However, there has yet to be the perfect system that comes with less risk
than potential, and it is most likely that there will never be a system where cons are not attached to the
pros. Command, Market, and occasionally Traditional are the three main types of economies we see
today, and each one offers a different set of positives that the others can t. An idea that has always
been represented in the world has been a command economy. This is an economic system in which a
central power holds control of the economy, and regulates it. Countries like Cuba, China, and North
Korea practice this economy in forms of communism. Socialism can fall under this category as well,
however as it requires a government ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The governments of these economies limit regulations and provide a large amount of economic
freedom. Countries like Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and the United States each have their own
version of a market economy. Because of the economic freedom, these countries are very strongly
business centered and run off of the motivation of their citizens working their way to the top, or being
able to have a family. Economic efficiency and growth are also major factors, and the state of the
economy relies heavily on these things in order to be the best it can be. The tradeoff, however, is that
the governments cannot guarantee that citizens needs will be met. With freedom, there will be a large
lack of equity as many citizens won t achieve. Countries like the United States attempt to have
security nets in place to help, but these can only stretch so

Summer Camp Essay
When parents talk about sending their child to summer camp, some people assume that the reason
behind this is to get a break from the child, and furthermore, those people believe that summer camp
has no impact on the child whatsoever. The majority of people who attended summer camp would not
agree. Summer camp allows children to thrive in a safe environment. Camp teaches children valuable
life skills. As someone who has attended summer camp since a young age, I can say with confidence
that summer camp helps a child develop into an independent and confident young adult.
Summer camp helps children to explore their independence. They get to live away from their parents

Camp counselors take jobs seriously and should be trusted. Each staff member goes through vigorous
training to ensure the safety of every camper. Beyond taking care of the campers physical need,
counselors help the campers to achieve each child s unique level of responsibility, whether that is
tying their shoe, or conquering a fear. At summer camp, children become exposed to independence.
This exposure allows children to develop more confidence in themselves. Acceptance is an essential
element of camp. Counselors work hard to make sure every child is being included in activities.
Summer camp is a place where children can be themselves. As a result, campers form unbreakable
bonds with their cabinmates. This summer, I had a cabin of nine girls, ages eleven and twelve. Seven
of those girls came from the same school but had never interacted with each other. By the end of the
week, not only did those girls conclude that they should be friends during the school year, but they
also arranged to see the other two girls next summer. Another approach for campers to obtain
confidence is the opportunity for them to go outside their comfort zone. When a camper accomplishes
something that they didn t think they could do, that gives them a sense of confidence in themselves.
People may argue that this sense of accomplishment can be achieved

The Green Party
Bernie Sanders fever is sweeping the across the country. After a credible showing in Iowa, he is well
placed to win New Hampshire. The most astonishing thing about this is that he has managed to turn
socialism from a taboo in American politics into a norm. His run and prominence has led to 43 percent
of Iowa caucus voters to self identifying as socialist (Scher 2016). The problem is that actual socialists
are in some cases rooting against Senator Sanders. His candidacy has led to a split amongst socialists,
with some feeling that he is a bona fide socialist while others feel is a socialist in name only (Scher
2016). As a whole, the parties that would be considered socialist do not place well in elections. The
Green Party, which is probably the most well known party with socialist aims, had 469,627 votes in
the 2012 election according to the FEC. While not massive, it still dwarfs the totals of parties with the
word socialist in their name. Combined, they received a whopping 86,528 votes in 2012 (FEC). Many
feel that Sanders has sold out , by pledging to support billionaire backed Hilary Clinton should she
win (Scher 2016). Many within the far left feel that Sanders campaign is pulling votes and interest
away from true socialist parties and policies, and could weaken the platform overall. Most socialist
parties prefer to stay united behind one candidate, in this case the Green s Dr. Jill Stein, and get on the
ballot consistently rather than be split with Sanders

Business In Australi Business Analysis
Business is essential to any developed and developing society as it makes various contributions to the
economy and the progress of the society. In Australia, business is considered as a driving force for
social progress. There are currently 2.1 million businesses actively trading in Australia, as of 2016.
This is an increase of 2.4% from 2015. In the last couple of years, business entry rates have increased
from 13.4% to 14.6% while exit rates have decreased from 12.4% to 12.3%. This shows that there has
been business growth in Australia recently. At the moment, the industry classification with the highest
survival rate is Health Care and Social Assistance, which has a survival rate of 74.2%. On the
contrary, Accommodation and Food Services ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first factor is the failure to react to changes in society or the marketplace. Many business owners
think that their success in the past will continue to work and help their business grow, but in reality,
society and demands change all the time, especially with the development of technology. Failure to
adapt to these changes will cause many businesses to become outdated and lose to their competition.
Another factor for failure is the inability to price a product or service correctly. There are many
examples of this, one including a business making a product expensive for customers even though it
isn t of high quality. This mistake will make businesses lose their customer base and eventually fail.
Another example is if a business tries to make a high quality product, but also sell it for a cheap price.
This will make the business lose money, therefore narrowing its chances of achieving business
success. Although there are many failure factors, one important one that means the difference between
a successful business and a failed one is the lack of financial management. Good financial skills are
needed in a business in order to control and track the money that it earns and spends. An example of
this failure factor is if a business chooses to spend more money than it can earn, and also chooses to
spend it on something unproductive. This will cause the business to lose its money and fail. Overall,
there are

A Brief Look at Queen Elizabeth I
Many people, in England, believe that there has always been one queen to stand above the rest. That
queen was Elizabeth the 1st. She has made many accomplishments during her reign. From a
compromise about what religion England would follow to defeating the Spanish Armada.
Elizabeth was born September 7, 1533 in Greenwich England. She was the daughter of King Henry
VII and his second wife, Anne Boleyn. Elizabeth had a half sister from the king s first wife, Catherine
of Aragon, and also had a half brother from the king s third wife, Jane Seymour. When Elizabeth was
only two her father had her mother executed for suspicion of adultery. When her father decided to
have Elizabeth s mother executed, he then stripped Elizabeth of her title as princess.
In 1553 Elizabeth s half brother, Edward, died at the age of nine. Shortly after, Elizabeth s half sister
took the throne. Her name was Mary. Mary caused many problems for England. Mary believed that
England should follow one religion and anyone who did not follow this religion would be executed.
Mary was Catholic. She later got the nickname bloody Mary because she killed so many Protestants.
This caused a problem for Elizabeth because she was Protestant. Many people who did not believe the
Catholic faith thought that Elizabeth was the rightful ruler and plotted against Mary. The leader of this
plot was named Thomas Wyatt. He was organizing a rebellion and soon Mary found out of this plan.
She then had Elizabeth imprisoned in

Examples Of True Freedom In 1984 By George Orwell
What is true freedom? That s something to think about while reading 1984 by George Orwell. In this
book, true freedom doesn t exist. The people of this book are trapped in a world of despair. The
characters in 1984 do not experience true freedom. There is plenty of evidence to prove this. In the
book, the people have no right to think freely, they can t fall in love, and they have to follow the rules
that are giving to them. If the world that this people live at showed true freedom, then all this actions
would be allowed. True freedom would be the ability to speak, think, and do things that one would

Ecological Crisis Has Been Associated With The...
Ecology is a scientific study and analyses of the interaction between organisms and their immediate
environment. Therefore, ecological crisis has been considered as the misunderstanding that exists
between the environment and living organism particularly, the human race. The major ecological crisis
has been associated with the environmental pollution (Westra 122). Notably, race and ethnicity have
been considered to be significant contributing factors to the ecological crisis than the economic
income and class. Ecological crisis has since led to racism particularly in regions occupied by different
races. For instance, the affluent black communities have been associated with high toxic
environmental waste sites than the poorer whites. This notion was pegged on the fact that more than
60% of the black American communities had at least a toxic waste site in their boundaries (Westra 97).
The statistic explains the poor health nature and lower life expectancies among the affected black
Americans.
Ecological racism has for many years been associated with people of the color who suffer from
unsatisfactory diets, exposure to pervasive pollutants, and second rate medical care. In some cases, the
children of these classes of citizens are subjected to unhealthy old paints and bad smelling air from
diesel fumes. These environmental conditions are highly demoralizing and source of stress to the
occupants (Westra 136). The environmental breakdown has underappreciated the lives of the

Difference Between Presupposition And Entailment
Introduction:
Presupposition and entailment are two phenomenons in the field of semantics in which speakers
assume that particular information is already known by their listeners. Presupposition defined in The
Cambridge Encyclopedia of Language is,
The information that a speaker assumes to be already known.
Presuppositions are therefore implicit assumptions about the background beliefs and scenarios made
by the speaker to be mutually known by the addressee. For example,
The World War has ended.
This utterance implies two things. Firstly, there was a World War. Secondly, it has now ended.
Have you stopped playing piano?
This example presupposes that the person referred to in the question once played the piano.
Types of presupposition: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In counterfactual it is not only a false or non factive statement but it is also far from the reality. Or it s
only a wish or dream that may never come true. Example,
If I was rich I would have booked a room in Burj khalifa.
It presupposes that the subject wishes to be rich and then be able to book a room in Burj Khalifa.
Difference between Entailment and Presupposition:
Entailment and Presupposition are two very closely related terms however there is a very distinct
difference between them. Entailment is a relationship between two sentences, where the truth of one
implies the truth of the other. The difference between the two terms can be suggested as such that,
negation of a sentence does not change its presuppositions whereas, the negation of a sentence
changes the entailment. For example,
I want to take a dance class again.
I don t want to take a dance class again.
Presupposition: Both the sentences presuppose that the subject has already taken a dance class before.
Entailment: First sentence entails that the subject is willing again to take a dance class. While the
second sentence entails that now the subject has taken it before he/she does not want to take it

Beethoven Seventh Symphony Analysis
Pratt Carrol stated that Music is the language of emotion, and emotions tend to be the same the world
over, in spite of differences in social customs and language. In other words, music is a fabulous
expression of the human being no matter the culture or norms because it manages to immediately
transmit different feelings and emotions that other forms of art may not transmit.
For my Introduction to music class I decided, to write about the Seventh Symphony in A major (Op.
92) by Ludwig van Beethoven. The reason why I choose this symphony is because it s an emotional
piece of music, and it definitely catch my attention since the moment I heard it. I feel this symphony
reach emotional situations that are above human explosions. Emotional areas that invade us through a
contradictory fact between feelings. The Seventh Symphony in A major by Beethoven appears in
1813. The orchestra contains two flutes, two oboes, two clarinets in A, two bassoons, two horns in A
(E and D in the inner movements), two trumpets in D, timpani, and strings. Beethoven insisted on
directing it at its premiere, with tragicomic results. The critics recognized a new genius of Beethoven;
even today there are experts who consider it as the best of their symphonies. Richard Wagner, another
fervent Beethovenian, describe this symphony as all tumult, all yearning and storming of heart into the
blissful insolence of joy, which snatches us away with bacchanalian might. For its relentless dance

Controversy Over the United States Providing Developmental...
Throughout history and present day times, many countries such as Germany, France, and Canada have
provided assistance and aid to underdeveloped countries to help alleviate poverty. The United States
itself issues aid to developing countries which include Israel, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Ethiopia; this
has been an American practice since 1947 after World War II. During the time period from 1947 to
1949 the United States, under the Marshall Plan, provided both financial and technical assistance to
Europe and Asia after the war. As a result, Europe was rebuilt both politically and economically.
Today the United States continues to provide aid to underdeveloped countries, helping them evolve
and strengthen their economy. Many Americans believe that America is doing the right thing in
issuing aid, while others hold the opinion that the United States should not issue aid, and that the issue
of money to developing countries needs to stop. On one side of the issue the supporters of
developmental aid believe that the United States is doing more than a great job by offering economic
assistance to countries that need help to develop. These individuals are aware of the unfortunate
poverty levels in many countries abroad. They believe that it is the duty of the American people to
help reduce the poverty levels in countries in which people live with less than a dollar a day. In fact,
some supporters believe that the U.S. is not offering enough support to the poorer countries. Many

Raising Cane s A Restaurant
Raising Cane s Restaurant
The food industry in Louisiana has been growing over the years and the Raising Cane s Restaurant has
been on the forefront in offering some of the best delicacies I have tasted in my life. Throughout my
life, I have had the pleasure of experiencing different restaurants and I can admit the experience has
not been disappointing at Raising Cane s Restaurant. For anyone looking to experience a different
taste of chicken, look no further than Raising Cane. Raising Cane mostly serves chicken fingers. In
fact, the restaurant s name is Raising Cane s Chicken Fingers. As its name suggests, it offers a variety
of meals, but chicken meals are their main foods. Todd Graves, who is the C.E.O of the restaurant and
Craig Silvey who was Todd s partner and currently the vice president of information technology and
finance established the restaurant in August 1996. The restaurant has its headquarters in Baton Rouge,
Louisiana, which was the location of the first restaurant. Today, Raising Cane is found in over 250
locations in the U.S and other countries including Kuwait as of September in 2015.
I set out to visit the restaurant for lunch last Friday and the first thing I noticed was its theme color,
which is red. The restaurant s logo is made of a mixture of white, yellow and black colors on a red and
a small yellow background. Its location is equally catchy because it is located at the intersection of

Alienation Effect In The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui
This phenomenon was replicated at the University of Michigan s SMTD performance of The
Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, written by Bertolt Brecht. This play told the story of the rise of gangster
Arturo Ui and the corruption of the cauliflower business in order to satirize the rise of Hitler. Despite
this being a play, rather than a musical, the use of Copland s planes of listening still apply. Theater
goers can still view the work with different approaches either purely surface level, meaning driven, or
technical, like the planes of listening Copland describes.
However, the experience of the spectators was different at this play. The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui
was written to produce an experience known as the alienation effect. The alienation effect, in the
words of Brecht himself, is to make the spectator adopt an attitude of inquiry and criticism in his
approach to the incident (Brecht, 136). In other words, Brecht aimed to separate the viewer from the
plot and sensation of the play in order to allow them to truly understand and analyze the message. In
Arturo Ui, Brecht instigated the alienation effect in multiple ways, the first of which was introducing
the play. An announcer at the beginning makes it clear to the audience what they are about to see and
what the ending will be. The use of an actor within the play teaching Arturo Ui how to act and the
theatricality of the words was meant to further alienate the audience. The cast and crew of the SMTD

Kyoto Protocol Of The Unfccc ( 2005 )
The Kyoto Protocol to the UNFCCC (2005)
1. Introduction
Founded on the belief that humans are ultimately responsible for global warming, the Kyoto Protocol
was signed in 1997 and made effective in 2005 with the aim of reducing national quantitative
greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% (compared with emissions in 1990) in industrialised countries
worldwide. This would equate to a 29% cut overall by 2010. The protocol intends to specifically
reduce global emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulphur hexafluoride, HFCs and
PFCs (www.kyotoprotocol.com). The protocol was later revised in its second commitment period
stating that an 18% cut (compared with 1990) in emissions between 2013 2020 would be its next
target. The Kyoto Protocol created three market based mechanisms...known as the carbon market to
support its targets (UNFCCC). These mechanisms covered emissions trading, the clean development
mechanism (CDM) and joint implementation. Combined, the mechanisms are geared towards
encouraging sustainable development using technology and investment, reducing emissions in an
economically viable way and stimulating developing countries to reduce their emissions too.
International cooperation was essential for the Kyoto Protocol to be enforced and achieve its aims. As
the protocol seeks to reduce greenhouse emissions globally, efforts are needed from all industrialised
countries emitting harmful gases into the Earth s atmosphere. Without adequate participation

Why Led Zeppelin Is The Best Rock Band
The Rock Band that was Greatest Do you enjoy listening to the famous rock band Led Zeppelin? This
band has had countless songs that have made the top 100 list, including Stairway to Heaven,
Immigrant Song, and Kashmir. Their music has changed the history of rock and roll. Finally they were
also ranked grband in the world for 10 years in a row! This is almost unheard of in rock and roll
history. This proves that Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band of the past 50 years. One key element
of a band is the lyrics. They need to include real meaning to them. The singer can t be singing about
things that don t make any sense or do not care about. A singer sings best when they are singing about
something that they care about or something that has affected them. This causes the singer to have
more emotion when singing. Led Zeppelin is a prime example of a band that puts passion into their
lyrics. Their lyrics are simply amazing. They tell a story about life. Throughout the band s career, their
lyrics have covered everything from love to heartbreak to friendships. They even mention Lord of the
Rings in one of their songs. They put emotion into their lyrics, which causes their music t be even
better. Their lyrics are a massive piece of why Led Zeppelin is the best rock band of the past 50 years.

Essay on French Colonialism and Vietnam
Unlike many other European countries that sought out the territory in Southeast Asia merely for
increasing their power through trade, the French first began interactions with the region as early as the
17th century. Alexandre De Rhodes began an expedition to the Southeast Asia region with the desire
to expand the Jesuit missionaries throughout the region to further their belief. For many years until the
18th century, the Jesuits expanded and created many missionaries throughout the region. The 18th
century had brought an astronomical expansion in the trading markets throughout Europe and Asia as
all the European superpowers began colonizing all of Southeast Asia to further their trading empires.

De Genouilly was found to be using inappropriate war strategies during his campaign, especially
while undertaking Saigon, which resulted in his dismissal in 1859. De Genouilly would be replaced by
Admiral Page who had been instructed by the French government to not make any more territorial
gains in Vietnam for the French. Page was to only use military action if the catholic missionaries in
the region were under any threat. Even though this was what he was ordered to do, this did not last
very long as the French under Page began to take over more provinces. On April 13th, 1862 the
Vietnamese ceded three additional provinces to the French. Then just a year later, the king of
Cambodia exchanged control over the Battambang and the Siem Reap for French protection over
Cambodia from the threatening Asian powers. Things would remain relatively under control for the
French until 1884 when the Chinese would challenge the French s ambition to control the Tonkin
region (Northern Vietnam.) The first of many wars to follow in between the 19th and 20th century for
the French was the Sino French war which lasted between 1884 and 1885. The French believed that
the Northern region of Vietnam, Tonkin, should be placed under their control as they had control over
the regions surrounding it. The Chinese who controlled Tonkin disputed this claim and a very short

Boniface s Influence On Frankish Society
Although addressed to Aethebald, an Anglo Saxon king, this incredibly powerful sentence by the
famous missionary Boniface, allows a glimpse into the mindset of the church regarding kingship. A
king s sin could destroy the image of God in him and make him an image of the devil instead.
Boniface, although principally working as a missionary for the Germans, also helped to reform the
Frankish Church, which had declined greatly. The Merovingian kingdom began a decline after the
death of Clovis that trickled down until the rise of the Pippinid and Arnulfling families in the sixth
century. Likewise, the church became corrupt, with little learning or any growth. The combined family

The premier exercise of their authority was in legislation enacted at councils. This law was wide in
scope and expressive not only of moral ideals, but also of a fully elaborated social thought. Most
bishops in Frankish society not only held their respective bishoprics, but also extensive family land as
most came from the nobility. This aristocratic origin of most bishops was not seen by contemporaries
as an impediment to episcopal office, but rather as an appropriate background for someone who would
rule a community, in addition to governing its religious cult. Bishops, moreover, did not act as
functional equivalents of senators or nobles, but as a distinctive, cohesive group, possessing a self
conscious and unifying identity. However, that changed during the missionary wars in Germany under
Pippin II and Charlemagne. Unlike senators, bishops were ordained clerics, gave sermons, and
baptized people. They adopted a special hairstyle (tonsure) symbolically connecting them to the
asceticism of the desert and a moral code that brought them into contact with the poor and that gave
them a unique position from which to make demands on their kings (and on the poor.) However,
towards the end of the Merovingian kingdom, these same bishops proved prone to corruption and
sinful natures, similarly to how the Carolingians would also depict the Merovingians

Meursault In The Stranger, By Albert Camus
A person who is able to kill another human being without any second thought to consequences is one
who lacks proper morals and can be labeled as a cruel and an easily triggered individual. In Albert
Camus The Stranger the main character Meursault comes off as cruel after killing an Arab and then
showing no remorse, yet despite the excessive gunshots Meursault fires, he cannot be categorized as
cruel as he does not have a violent background but merely as one who is unconcerned with emotions.
Meursault is a man who is unable to connect emotion with the actions that he takes and the
consequences that follow, and if he were to have been enlisted in WWI he would have been a very
unstable and unreliable soldier due to many possibilities of unforeseen events that could ensue while
in combat.
For Meursault life decisions are based on what is most convenient to him, not based on emotions that
he may or may not feel. When Marie asks Meursault if he had any feelings of love towards her he said
that sort of question had no meaning (Camus 24) but that he probably didn t really feel any love ...

School Shootings Throughout the United States
Recently there have been many school shootings throughout the United States and the world. Most of
these shooting were all connected with the shooter being on anti depressant medications. In an article
called Medicated to death: by SSRI s and mass killings by Lisa Arbercheski, she writes that SSRI s are
linked to the cause of most shootings. Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI) is one of the
most popular medications taken for depression in many countries. Some are known by their popular
names like Prozac, Zoloft, Celexa, and Paxil. These medications have many tests done and none of
them prove that they cure depression or mood swings. Could these medications be connected to some
of the most recent shootings like the one in Newton, Connecticut? The case is that these medications
are causing adolescents to go on suicidal rampage shootings and the United States is trying to play it
off like the medications have no connection. Many of these young people committing these crimes are
doing it because there is some type of rejection in their life. Doctors try to alleviate there symptoms by
giving them higher doses of medication making it worse. In the article by Arbercheski she describes a
shooting on December of 2000 when Micheal McDermott went on a shooting rampage at his

Prozac, from 70 milligrams to 210 milligrams per day. There was also two other recent cases where

Aside from the beautiful architecture of the temples and palaces surrounding the Forbidden City, and
the sheer magnitude of a holy space dedicated to the emperor, I think the most impressive aspect of
the Forbidden City is the simple fact that such drastic measures were taken to improve the image and

about fifty kids sitting down. Ven Rahula started educating the children about the five main principles
to live a moral life. 1) No Killing 2) No stealing 3) no sexual misconduct 4) No lying 5) No drinking

values that they are being implemented at such young age. I consider a great idea that the

From a strategic perspective, barriers can be created or exploited to enhance a firm s competitive advantage. Barriers to entry arise from several sources: Government creates barriers. Although the principal role of the government in a market is to preserve competition through anti trust actions, government also restricts competition through the granting of monopolies and through regulation. Industries such as utilities are considered natural monopolies because it has been more efficient to have one electric company provide power to a locality than to permit many electric companies to compete in a local market. To restrain utilities from exploiting this advantage, government permits a monopoly, but regulates the industry. Illustrative of this kind of barrier to entry is the local cable company. The franchise to a cable provider may be granted by competitive bidding, but once the franchise is awarded by a community a monopoly is created. Local governments were not effective in monitoring price gouging by cable operators, so the federal government has enacted legislation to review and restrict prices. The regulatory authority of the government in restricting competition is historically evident in the banking industry. Until the 1970 s, the markets that banks could enter were limited by state governments. As a result, most banks were local commercial and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Powles, 1922) This is an example of accepting prudent risk. However, here, the general made a poor choice because he could have utilized those brigades had they dismounted upon landing. The accounts of why he made this particular decision vary greatly. Some historians believe he did it because he did not have the resources to transport the troops from Egypt to Turkey. Other accounts argue that he did not believe that the enemy merited the extra troops. Regardless of the reason behind the choice, the general did not correctly exercise prudent risk in this case. The landing at Anzac Cove was set to send the 1st Australian Division ashore first. Their task was to establish strong points on Gun Ridge, and the purpose behind this pass the 3rd Infantry Brigade in order to facilitate their capture of the remainder of Gun Ridge. The most astonishing thing about this is that he has managed to turn socialism from a taboo in American politics into a norm. His run and prominence has led to 43 percent of Iowa caucus voters to self identifying as socialist (Scher 2016). The problem is that actual socialists are in some cases rooting against Senator Sanders. His candidacy has led to a split amongst socialists, with some feeling that he is a bona fide socialist while others feel is a socialist in name only (Scher 2016). As a whole, the parties that would be considered socialist do not place well in elections. The Green Party, which is probably the most well known party with socialist aims, had 469,627 votes in the 2012 election according to the FEC. While not massive, it still dwarfs the totals of parties with the word socialist in their name. Combined, they received a whopping 86,528 votes in 2012 (FEC). Many feel that Sanders has sold out , by pledging to support billionaire backed Hilary Clinton should she win (Scher 2016). Many within the far left feel that Sanders campaign is pulling votes and interest away from true socialist parties and policies, and could weaken the platform overall. Many business owners think that their success in the past will continue to work and help their business grow, but in reality, society and demands change all the time, especially with the development of technology. Failure to adapt to these changes will cause many businesses to become outdated and lose to their competition. Another factor for failure is the inability to price a product or service correctly. There are many examples of this, one including a business making a product expensive for customers even though it isn t of high quality. This mistake will make businesses lose their customer base and eventually fail. Another example is if a business tries to make a high quality product, but also sell it for a cheap price. This will make the business lose money, therefore narrowing its chances of achieving business success. The major ecological crisis has been associated with the environmental pollution (Westra 122). Notably, race and ethnicity have been considered to be significant contributing factors to the ecological crisis than the economic income and class. Ecological crisis has since led to racism particularly in regions occupied by different races. For instance, the affluent black communities have been associated with high toxic environmental waste sites than the poorer whites. This notion was pegged on the fact that more than 60% of the black American communities had at least a toxic waste site in their boundaries (Westra 97). The statistic explains the poor health nature and lower life expectancies among the affected black Americans. Ecological racism has for many years been associated with people of the color who suffer from unsatisfactory diets, exposure to pervasive pollutants, and second rate medical care. • 25. Controversy Over the United States Providing Developmental... Throughout history and present day times, many countries such as Germany, France, and Canada have provided assistance and aid to underdeveloped countries to help alleviate poverty. The United States itself issues aid to developing countries which include Israel, Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Ethiopia; this has been an American practice since 1947 after World War II. During the time period from 1947 to 1949 the United States, under the Marshall Plan, provided both financial and technical assistance to Europe and Asia after the war. As a result, Europe was rebuilt both politically and economically. Today the United States continues to provide aid to underdeveloped countries, helping them evolve and strengthen their economy. Many Americans believe that America is doing the right thing in issuing aid, while others hold the opinion that the United States should not issue aid, and that the issue of money to developing countries needs to stop. On one side of the issue the supporters of developmental aid believe that the United States is doing more than a great job by offering economic assistance to countries that need help to develop. These individuals are aware of the unfortunate poverty levels in many countries abroad. They believe that it is the duty of the American people to help reduce the poverty levels in countries in which people live with less than a dollar a day. Raising Cane s A Restaurant Raising Cane s Restaurant The food industry in Louisiana has been growing over the years and the Raising Cane s Restaurant has been on the forefront in offering some of the best delicacies I have tasted in my life. Throughout my life, I have had the pleasure of experiencing different restaurants and I can admit the experience has not been disappointing at Raising Cane s Restaurant. For anyone looking to experience a different taste of chicken, look no further than Raising Cane. Raising Cane mostly serves chicken fingers. In fact, the restaurant s name is Raising Cane s Chicken Fingers. As its name suggests, it offers a variety of meals, but chicken meals are their main foods. Todd Graves, who is the C.E.O of the restaurant and Craig Silvey who was Todd s partner and currently the vice president of information technology and finance established the restaurant in August 1996. The restaurant has its headquarters in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which was the location of the first restaurant. Today, Raising Cane is found in over 250 locations in the U.S and other countries including Kuwait as of September in 2015. I set out to visit the restaurant for lunch last Friday and the first thing I noticed was its theme color, which is red. • 27. Alienation Effect In The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui This phenomenon was replicated at the University of Michigan s SMTD performance of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, written by Bertolt Brecht. This play told the story of the rise of gangster Arturo Ui and the corruption of the cauliflower business in order to satirize the rise of Hitler. Despite this being a play, rather than a musical, the use of Copland s planes of listening still apply. Theater goers can still view the work with different approaches either purely surface level, meaning driven, or technical, like the planes of listening Copland describes. However, the experience of the spectators was different at this play. The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui was written to produce an experience known as the alienation effect. The alienation effect, in the words of Brecht himself, is to make the spectator adopt an attitude of inquiry and criticism in his approach to the incident (Brecht, 136). In other words, Brecht aimed to separate the viewer from the plot and sensation of the play in order to allow them to truly understand and analyze the message. In Arturo Ui, Brecht instigated the alienation effect in multiple ways, the first of which was introducing the play. An announcer at the beginning makes it clear to the audience what they are about to see and what the ending will be. The use of an actor within the play teaching Arturo Ui how to act and the theatricality of the words was meant to further alienate the audience. The cast and crew of the SMTD also ... Introduction Founded on the belief that humans are ultimately responsible for global warming, the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1997 and made effective in 2005 with the aim of reducing national quantitative greenhouse gas emissions by 5.2% (compared with emissions in 1990) in industrialised countries worldwide. This would equate to a 29% cut overall by 2010. The protocol intends to specifically reduce global emissions of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulphur hexafluoride, HFCs and PFCs (www.kyotoprotocol.com). The protocol was later revised in its second commitment period stating that an 18% cut (compared with 1990) in emissions between 2013 2020 would be its next target. The Kyoto Protocol created three market based mechanisms...known as the carbon market to support its targets (UNFCCC). These mechanisms covered emissions trading, the clean development mechanism (CDM) and joint implementation. Combined, the mechanisms are geared towards encouraging sustainable development using technology and investment, reducing emissions in an economically viable way and stimulating developing countries to reduce their emissions too. Boniface, although principally working as a missionary for the Germans, also helped to reform the Frankish Church, which had declined greatly. This aristocratic origin of most bishops was not seen by contemporaries as an impediment to episcopal office, but rather as an appropriate background for someone who would rule a community, in addition to governing its religious cult. Bishops, moreover, did not act as functional equivalents of senators or nobles, but as a distinctive, cohesive group, possessing a self conscious and unifying identity. However, that changed during the missionary wars in Germany under Pippin II and Charlemagne. Unlike senators, bishops were ordained clerics, gave sermons, and baptized people. They adopted a special hairstyle (tonsure) symbolically connecting them to the asceticism of the desert and a moral code that brought them into contact with the poor and that gave them a unique position from which to make demands on their kings (and on the poor.)
