audience of the play would be so quick to rule Aaron as a purely evil character, the most evil of all the
other characters. However, a deeper analysis of Aaron shows that despite his villainy, he still has a
human side which he shows towards his son, and that his dark skin has made him a victim of racism,
which might have influenced his character, and developed his evil nature that he enjoys. Aaron s status

I was surprised when I found out that people live along side of such a beautiful canyon like this. It is

Things to Take From my Latest Historical Lecture at the Angelica Library
On August 18th, 2016, I had presented a historical lecture on the Abolitionist History of Allegany
County, at the Angelica Library. A number of times over the years I have given presentations and
lectures at my local library, for the sake of helping to spread ideas and information to others,
developing my skills, and other such purposes. I believe there is some use in reporting and reflecting
upon it, and that there can be some things to take away from it.
As part of my activities for during the summer break, I had figured I would give another historical
lecture at the Angelica Library. I figured that it would be a useful continuity with some of the
historical work that I have been doing. In the preceding semester I had written a paper on the
abolitionist history of Allegany County for a class in American Slavery. Following this, I had
uncovered some further information on aspects of the subject. When it came time for submissions to
the annual Phi Alpha Theta regional history conference, I had decided to write another paper on the
subject incorporating this additional information. I had presented this paper at the conference at Ithaca
College during my speaking section. From that point I had also gained some other interesting bits of

Quantitative Arbitrage Trading Strategy Analysis
Many financial instruments have exhibited mean reversion, such as US and global equities [1],
commodities [2], foreign exchange rates [3] as well as volatility indices [19]. Moreover, some
researchers have also found mean reverting process to be very useful in modeling the interest rate and
default risk dynamics [20]. In financial industry, some practitioners even attempt to profit by
constructing mean reverting prices which are usually known as statistical arbitrage or pair trading.
Statistical arbitrage is a more sophisticated trading strategy that evolved out of the simpler pairs trade
strategy [4]. In the pairs trading, two highly correlated stocks are put into pairs and when one stock
outperforms the other, we short this stock and long the other stock. Unlike the pair trading, Statistical
arbitrage usually considers a basket of hundreds or more stocks, long in some and short in others, in
order to construct a mean reversion portfolio.
The pairs/statistical arbitrage trading strategies have gained great popularity with the invention of
exchange traded funds (ETFs), as some ETFs are created to track the underlying indexes/assets. The
mean reverting spreads among commodity ETFs have already been investigated and the trading
strategies have been developed for statistical arbitrage [21]. Moreover, the mean reverting spread
between physical gold price and gold ETFs has also been investigated [22].

To combat pre match nerves the techniques of mental rehearsal and concentration are best used.
Mental rehearsal is when an athlete plays a certain situation or technique over and over in their head to
better capitalise on the situation in the future. An example of this may be mentally viewing the best
technique to serve the volleyball. By using mental rehearsal and athlete will be able to adapt to
situations with a greater ease. The second technique to combat nerves is centering. Centering is when
an athlete blocks out all the unimportant details of a situation and just focuses at the task at hand.
Centering can be achieved my controlled breathing and not thinking about past mistakes. Personally I

block out all the unimportant factors and think about one thing at a time.
