Essay On Civil War
As they walked towards the gunshots, they came across colonists singing along with her people. The
Plymouth Colonist, couldn t correctly pronounce most of the words in the song. How could they
continue to live in peace when they can t even speak each other s own tongue, thought Honovi. Soon,
they arrived at their destination. White and copper men were lined up with iron guns, aiming at red
and white circular targets 50 feet ahead of them. While some of her people looked to be learning from
the white men to know how to control such a weapon. Here we are, announced John with a grin upon
his face, You can sit here, he pointed to a chair of many along the perimeter. Men with gray hair and
wrinkly faces were already sitting down, but there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John s eyes widen, while the cheering stopped. It became so silent she could hear her blood pumping.
Finally, John spoke up, Well, he stalled, I don t see why she can t have some fun as well. Cheering
erupted again as she made her way in front of a target with a bow in her clammy hands. So, all I have
to do is hit the red, solid dot in the center of the target? she asked John. That s right. You ll be
competing against 9 other men that will also be shooting arrows, so it s fair. You all will get 2 arrows,
which mean 2 chances to win. It ll begin once I say three. Good Luck, he stated and stepped back.
Sounds easy enough, she stated.
On the count of three, arches begin. One, two, three, yelled John. The sounds of arrows being released
from bows sounded from around her. While, strands of her dark hair blew across her face as she stared
beyond at the target. She lifted her bow and arrow, knowing the wind would affect it. As she aimed,
the others finished making the air silent except for the beating off her heart. She focused on the red dot
to where it was the only thing she saw, along with the tip of the arrow. Then after one exhale she
released it. However, the arrow flew straight into the bushes behind the target. Bursts of laughter rang
across the land. I told you! Natives can t work their own weapons, a laughing man whispered. It must
have been her nerves, she thought. One last chance to prove that she was better than the rest.

Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton
Confessional Poets Sylvia Plath (1932 1963) and Anne Sexton (1928 1974) both explored similar
themes such as tone, structure, and symbolism. Many of their poems were cries for help, which
resulted into metal illness, depression, and suicide. In 1958, Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath met, and
much to their surprise had a few things in common. They both were fascinated with death and suicide.
Both Sexton s and Plath s poetry are considered as confessional poetry in which they were very
honest, depressed, and had suicidal or homicidal tendencies. Sylvia and Anne s views on what
happened in their life and on independence, are what nearly separates them from other confessional
poets. Sexton and Plath s poetry range over a variety of topics such as death, suicide, rage, and
mourning. They both utilize a convincing use of symbolism, deep image, metaphors, and soul
searching. Plath s The Colossus , Full Fathom Five , Daddy , and Sexton s And one for My Dame and
All My Pretty Ones , are very enraged and different feminist perspectives, giving different views on
the relationships with a father and a husband. Inspired by their true life memories, Plath and Sexton
explore a variety of themes in their poems. They both have different aspects of the relationship
between a father and a daughter. The fathers in Sexton and Plath s life had a major position and made
an influence on their life and in their

Ancient Egypt New Kingdom
There are very few civilizations whose collapse can be easily theorized. Lack of evidence and trending
arguments provide bias perceptions for most research. Examination of the suggested collapse during
Egypt s New Kingdom is also plagued with predispositions and altering theories. Some arguments
blame an adulteration of morals leading to the decline of complex traditional and religious beliefs.
Others solely blame an environmental crisis capable of facilitating an economic crisis large enough to
annihilate financial solidity for the entire kingdom. I argue it was not any one factor that led to the
dissension of Egypt s New Kingdom, but many. The New Kingdom collapse was the result of hostile
neighbors, failing trade, political corruption, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Separation Of The Proteins Involved
Separation of the proteins involved in both species blood and serum revealed that each was composed
of a major protein. A prominent protein in the rabbit blood was found accumulating at approximately
13kDa, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. It was concluded that this protein was most likely
hemoglobin, given the weight and large amount present in all blood due to its necessary function of
transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body. Hemoglobin is a tetrameric protein of
about 64.5 kDa, consisting of two chains and two chains which breaks down into each subunit having
an approximate weight of 15kDa (Yu et al, 1997). This was in correlation with the data present in
Figure 1, given that the major protein present in rabbit blood was approximately 13kDa, which would
be the subunits that make up hemoglobin.
We hypothesized that similar proteins would also be present in bovine blood, yet the major band
present in this sample was located at much higher molecular weight of approximately 45 kDa.
Potential causes in weight differences could be the longer amino acid sequence present in rabbit
hemoglobin, 170 amino acids, versus the 145 amino acids present in bovine hemoglobin, yet this
would result in bovine being further down on the gel versus what is actually shown (Altschul et al,
1997). Given the data obtained, potential misidentification of hemoglobin appearing as the main
protein present or possible error in lane one (rabbit blood), could explain the anomaly in

Giant Hogweed Research Paper
The control and eradication of invasive species in Washington State is an important part of
maintaining the diversity and wellbeing of our ecosystems. One invasive species common to us,
Heracleum mantegazzianum, otherwise known as giant hogweed, is a Class A weed and must be
eliminated where encountered (Noxious Weed Control Board). H. mantegazzianum is recognizable by
its immense height of up to 20 feet, and its thick stalks support umbels of small, clustered white
flowers. It can be distinguished from plants of similar appearance by purple blotches located on the
stems (Noxious Weed Control Board). They are commonly found near riverbanks and roadsides. (New
York State Department of Environmental Conservation). H. mantegazzianum owes much of its
success as an invasive species to its reproductive capabilities as an angiosperm. According to Reece et
al, sexual reproduction for the angiosperms begins in the flower on a mature sporophyte plant. Within
the anther the male microsporocytes undergo meiosis to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, it is a threat to native species and perilous to the ecosystems they colonize by stealing
resources. Second, the formation of their roots contributes to soil erosion by the creation of bare soil.
Finally, the sap contained within all parts of the plant sensitizes human skin to UV radiation and leads
to photo dermatitis (Noxious Weed Control Board). For these reasons, it is imperative that this weed is
eradicated in the state of Washington. Different methods of eliminating giant hogweed exist, with
varying results. For young plants, cutting the root 6 inches below the earth can be effective when
infestations are small. For larger infestations and with greater success, herbicides containing triclopyr
or glyphosate may be applied to giant hogweed. Treated infestations must be monitored for many
years following to ensure no regrowth (Nehrbass et

Grand Theft Auto Research Paper
Grand Theft Auto is a very inappropriate game for many ages due to the degrading standards women
are held to, the reckless use of vehicles, and the lack of respect shown for laws and law enforcement.
Fact is that the game is thought of as the most hyper violent game in history and is the most
controversial. Grand Theft Auto and its franchise has been awarded such a title by the Guinness Book
of World Records. The game is most known for the violent and misconduct that it contains in every
edition. (source cited)

difference from the franchise s most recent, Grand Theft Auto V making sixty point eighty one billion

order throughout the game. If the officers, see the player enacting in any criminal act their job is to
make it harder for the player to successfully commit the crime. Grand Theft Auto is a compilation of
missions and the police provide a reliable enemy or challenge. Officers within the series are thought of
as lazy, corrupt, and bad drivers. The criminal acts that the players get involved in can reward them
with stars. Each case varies from level to level, but the more stars the crime receives the more wanted
you are by the feds. Offenses include shooting pedestrians, entering prohibited areas, and some
unavoidable participation depending on the mission the player is on, for example a bank heist. The
police will not arrest the player because of traffic offenses or trespassing on private property. If the
player happens to get busted or arrested the player can then regenerate at the nearest police station and
carry on with the mission. Consequences do follow up the decision to respawn by the lose of weapons
and money for the player. Virtually inconsequential to the player because he or she can still live in the
game. Grand Theft Auto participants can also bribe the police so that they don t receive the full extent
of the law, which would not occur in real life and could potentially give you more problems if done

Rob Roy
The virtue in his features coincides with neither that of the revolutionaries nor the bland features of the
bank, which are described just before. He is shown to have a very different honesty and courage that
France lacked and that Victorians would not usually have associated with trade. This forms a sharp
contrast to the revolution and strengthens his purity of character. When he must face the dangers of
France, he does not compromise his honesty or loyalty towards either his business or his friends. His
choices are described in saying, His own possessions, safety, life, he would have hazarded for Lucie
and her child, without a moment s demur; but the great trust he held was not his own, and as to that

In Rob Roy, we are presented with Andrew Fairservice who is neither honest nor loyal. He is Frank s
servant throughout the novel who is commonly trying to cheat Frank out of money, despite his
pretences of faithfulness. At one point, he tries to cheat Frank by selling his own horse for one that s
lame and begs money from Frank when Frank tells him to get the other back again. Frank very nearly
falls for this plea, but Jarvie arrives in time and instantly cut short all debate, by pronouncing, that if
Fairservice did not forthwith return the three legged palfrey, and produce the more useful quadruped
which he had discarded, he would send him to prison, and amerce him in half his wages (Scott). Thus,
Jarvie uses his knowledge and understanding of trade to prevent Andrew from taking advantage of
Frank. This happens more than once in the novel and there is such a contrast between Andrew s
dishonesty in business and Jarvie s strict honesty, as well as both their sense and practicality that
Andrew s way of approaching exchange is ridiculous rather than

The Partition Of India By Bapsi Sidhwa
Before the Partition of India, in 1947, India was considered a country with a reasonably peaceful
history. However, during and after the Partition, sexual violence, both towards men and women,
escalated, resulting in the rape and abduction of over 80,000 women. Cracking India, by Bapsi
Sidhwa, tells a story that highlights these violent acts by both Muslims and Hindus, through the eyes
of a disabled young Parsi girl named Lenny, who witnesses first hand the violence of Partition when
she mistakenly participates in the abduction of her ayah, Shanta. Throughout Cracking India, Lenny
observes as the religions involved in Partition become increasingly violent towards both men and
women, within their own religions and against others. Lenny, who begins the novel as a very naïve
young Parsi girl, comes to understand that the foundations of violence in her surroundings are largely
gendered and that the experience of this violence is differentiated along gender lines (Rastegar 27).
Lenny witnesses the evolution of Ayah s suitors, (who are Parsi, Hindu and Muslim), from men
interested in being with Ayah to men who are desperate to control Ayah. As Partition gets more
violent, Ice Candy Man, one of Ayah s suitors who is Muslim, takes on the role of a minor nationalist
leader in their area and eventually coordinates a mob of Muslims to come to the Sethi house an abduct
Lenny, who is Hindu (Rastegar 27). When Lenny witnesses the change in behavior of Ayah s suitors

Thankful for Secret Santa
(Emmia, David, Jason and others have been abruptly snatched from their normal lives and placed in a
hotel in modern day time, completely sealed off from the outside world. Though this was all quite
confusing and terrifying for them at first, they have since adjusted and are now experiencing the
tensions of being trapped in a hotel of moderate size with friends and enemies alike. Winter has come

such a strange place. Or maybe it will just screw with their fragile minds. Enjoy.)
Emmia really wished, on occasion, that other people could be as imaginative as herself. True, that
might sound rather conceited, but take Jason, for instance. Since their unexpected and jarring capture,
he had chosen to take the room with the adjoining door to hers, so they could visit each other without
having to get an extra keycard. It had been hard enough figuring out how to even work those
seemingly useless pieces of plastic. Syne had made the breakthrough in the end, much to Emmia s and
everyone else s grudging thankfulness. When they had all chosen their spots to, as they thought about
a month ago, take up temporary residence, Jason had stuck with her, and at first she couldn t have
been happier. He was one of her last steadfast friends. It was comforting to know that he wanted to be
near enough so they could spend time together regularly. But now something about his lack of variety

Disadvantages Of Market Failure
Market failure is a situation that occurs when resources are not allocated effectively or efficiently. In

The illustration in the advertisement shows a food truck selling vegetables and presenting them as if
they are desserts made up of vegetables and ranch. Instead of selling ice cream, like food trucks are
commonly known for, the truck in the advertisement is selling vegetables so people think that when
ranch is put on vegetables they taste just as good as ice cream. This is a great marketing strategy
because it will trick consumers into thinking that ranch can make their children want to eat vegetables.
Temple University obesity researcher Jennifer Orlet Fisher conducted an experiment and found that
[a]dding 2.5 ounces of ranch dressing to a serving of vegetables helped bitter sensitive children eat 80
percent more broccoli ( Study ). This goes to prove that children these days will eat vegetables if they
are served with the right sides. Because it is so hard to keep family members eating healthily, an
advertisement like this speaks directly to parents who want to help their families eat healthily and take
care of themselves by making them think that putting ranch on vegetables makes them taste better
than they

Role of religion would be another theme because religion is one thing that splits up the Cagots from
the others. At the beginning of the sixteenth century the cagots complained to their pope that they
were excluded from the fellowship and accursed from the church.(Gaskell pg 2) An Accursed Race
has a lot of imagery. When Gaskell talks about how the Cagots were punished if they did something
wrong they would take two stripes of flesh from their body, or if they tried to enter the wrong side of
the church people shun them and gave them dirty looks. The story goes into a lot of gory detail, almost
like a sad, horror story because Elizabeth also loved writing horror, ghost stories. The story gives you

How Does Rosalind Use Dramatic Irony In As You Like It
Both As You Like It and The Outing make use of verbal irony. In As You Like It, Rosalind decides to
take on a male persona in order to talk with Orlando openly. She gives herself the name Ganymede
and dresses up like a man. Later in the play, Orlando has a conversation with Ganymede and does not
realize that he is in fact Rosalind in disguise. Rosalind, dressed as Ganymede, chides him to woo her
as if she were Rosalind: What would you say to me now / an I were your very very Rosalind? (IV. i.

In As You Like It, Celia s and Rosalind s friendship seems intimate and intense. They speak to each
other as if they are lovers and not friends. At the beginning of the play, Rosalind is upset about her
father s banishment. She and Celia have a minor fight where Celia accuses her of not loving her fully:
Herein I see thou lov st me not with the full weight I love thee (I. ii. 7 8). The two characters quickly
make up because of Rosalind s sacrifice. She says that she will ignore her problems to focus on Celia.
The characters speak to one another as if they are in a romantic relationship although they are cousins.
In addition to blurring the line between men and women, Shakespeare blurs the line between platonic
relationships and intimate ones. Larry Charles does the same in The Outing with Jerry and George. In
doing so, Shakespeare and Charles are able to play with their respective characters and mislead the
audience. Jerry and George say and do several things throughout the episode that imply they are in a
relationship. For instance, Jerry and George bicker about minor things such as George s shirt and how
clean a pear is. Although the audience knows that Jerry and George are not

Analysis Of Don Delillo s White Noise
Don DeLillo is an American writer born in 1936. DeLillo is a postmodernist and has written eleven
books receiving various awards for his work. The title of DeLillo s eighth novel White Noise brings
forth many assumptions towards the overall meaning of the book. If one was to generally interpret the
meaning, white noise is produced when sound waves are joined together creating a constant buzz. This
buzz can produce a relaxing or an overwhelming feeling, depending, if it refers to a repetitive noise
one is trying to avoid or perhaps noise one is trying to embrace. With this being said, DeLillo s White
Noise is set in the twentieth century, and tells a story about a college professor by the name of Jack
Gladney who is a professor for the Hitler Studies at College on the Hill. Throughout the novel it is
evident that Jack is the main character and the narrator of the story, who experiences a constant
murmur of his underlying fear of death invading his thoughts. The constant reminder of white noise
causes Jack to have uncertainties that stop him from repressing death in the society around him. As a
result, Jack is challenged with many obstacles as he tries to avoid, cope, and confront the thought of
death while diminishing the white noise that he is trying to escape.
Avoidance is choosing to hide from the inevitable truth instead of accepting the thought of death. In

The Nuclear Family Essay
The Diminishing Nuclear Family
Hadar Mustafa
Jun29, 2015
Introduction More often than not, stable and functional families serve as a prerequisite to a good
society. Hence, the society s support system for families must be flexible because needs and goals of
families vary over time (Loveless, 2007). However, nuclear families face many challenges because
parenting, child rearing, and other economic responsibilities had to be done by two adults only
(Bowden Smith, 2010). In this paper, we look into the development of the nuclear family: its origin,
evolution, and status today. We also look into the most influential factors that led to the current status
of nuclear families. We also look into the recommendations that represent different values and belief
systems that promote the revival of degraded idealization and decline of the nuclear family.
The Modern Nuclear Family The development of the modern nuclear family is considered as a truly
remarkable element in the history of the human social organization. The modern nuclear family is
composed of a monogamous married couple living with their children, apart from their relatives. The
husband is working outside the home, while the wife is a full time mother and housewife. So, the
mother s role comprises cooking for the family and looking after the kids while father s role comprises
providing for the family and performing as a role model toward the kids. Unlike the traditional nuclear
family, the nuclear

The Concept of Good Death
Death and Dying
1. What does the term good death mean? Death is never an easy thing to deal with. When a loved one
dies, people will naturally go through a system of mourning wherein they laud and appreciate the
person who is now gone from their lives forever. There are times when deaths are more difficult to
deal with, such as when a death is unexpected or when the deceased is a young person who should
have had a long life ahead of them. Although death is never necessarily a happy event, there are
occurrences where the passing away of a friend or loved one can be quantified as a good, if not
pleasant event. According to the text, there are three conditions wherein a death can be considered a
good death. First, there is the medically based good death. In this scenario, a person has been ill for a
considerable length of time. Their illness is chronic, painful, and incurable. Thus, when that person
finally passes away from that disease, their death is good because they are no longer in the position
where they are suffering. The second type of good death is the sacred death wherein a person dies for
some sort of religious purpose. In many ancient cultures, there were civilizations which used the
practice of human sacrifice for a variety of reasons, including honoring the gods and ensuring a strong
harvest of crops. Modern cultures do not usually include sacred deaths nor sacrificial deaths and often

Sara Lee Corporation in 2011
MEMORANDUM
DATE: 11/12/12
TO: Mrs. Sabine Turnley
FROM: Team 5 (Jamie Briscoe, Bradley Veenendaal, Jessica Kolb, Rebecca Christie, Kody Lynn)
SUBJ: Sara Lee Corporation in 2011: Has Its Retrenchment Strategy Been Successful?
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
In 2005, Sara Lee placed a strategic plan in action to transform the business into a more tightly
focused food, beverage and household products company. This involved the divestiture of weak
performing business and product categories, which included eight business units. Although the
divestiture would decrease Sara Lee s revenues, it was believed that concentrating their financial and
managerial resources on a smaller number of business units would be beneficial. Sara Lee struggled ...

Using our measures, weights, and the importance of the weight, we found that the five industries that
Sara Lee occupies are fairly similar in attractiveness. The food retail industry is the most attractive and
the international refrigerated bread industry is the least attractive.
The food retail industry is the most attractive primarily because it has an extremely high market size.
This industry is benefiting from the economic downturn because less people are eating at restaurants.
Instead they are making more meals at home. Although this industry is benefiting from the economic
downturn, there is a high risk of uncertainty. This is because of the competitiveness of the industry,
economic factors, and emerging opportunities that the business unit will have to face.
On the other side, the international refrigerated bread industry is the least attractive because of the
global economic downturn. The economic recession affected this company particularly hard. Spain is
the main country that supported this industry for refrigerated bread and got hit harder than other
countries. Spain is also the only country that is looking to continue the want for refrigerated bread,
whereas other countries are turning to fresh breads as its leading bread products causing the projected
growth rate to decrease significantly.
The business units represented in Sara Lee s portfolio are highly

Reason to Listen: As you will soon see, Iceland is full of beautiful scenery and natural wonders that
everyone should have the chance to see at least once in their lifetime.
Speaker Credibility: While reading an article from The Telegraph, I came across the astonishing truth
of just how popular of a tourist attraction Iceland is. Morris (2016) stated in his article that 2016 will
mark the first time that the total number of American tourists will be greater than the number of
Icelandic residents . After reading that I knew I wanted to research more about the culture of Iceland
and find out why it is such a popular tourist spot.
Thesis Statement: Today, we will be informing everyone about the unique culture of Iceland.
Preview Main Points: We will be discussing Icelandic geography, common leisurely activities, food,
and century old traditions.

The Musical Aspects Of Frank Sinatra
Chapter Two: Sinatra as a Cultural Icon In the first chapter, this essay primarily addressed the musical
aspects of Frank Sinatra. This section will examine his celebrity image, and how it reflected the values
of popular culture that spanned his career. Sinatra was the first musician, more specifically a singer, to
achieve this kind of fame and notoriety among his audiences. Intentional or not, he started a trend in
popular music that would later be replicated by many artists, including Elvis, Michael Jackson,
Freddie Mercury, and Barbara Streisand. One interesting facet about Sinatra is that he was not born
into stardom, nor groomed for success. As mentioned above, Sinatra was born of two middle class
Italian immigrants. Deeply rooted in American culture is the concept of the American Dream ,
espousing the country as a land of opportunity where anything is possible. Michael Frontani cites
author Richard Weiss, in describing this ideal: The belief that all men, in accordance with certain
rules, but exclusively by their own efforts, can make of their lives what they will... The pursuit of the
American Dream involves a long road to financial independence for the individual, achieved by
resilience and hard work. Whether or not the dream could be easily attainable by anyone is up for
debate, as Sinatra faced racism and adversity early on in his quest for fame. Coming from a
disadvantaged Italian family, Frontani recalls how his mother, Dolly, wanted him to seek out

Analysis Of Enkidu s The Epic
Enkidu s role in the epic explores the idea that humans cultivation of the earth to suit their own needs
will lead to their demise. Enkidu was depicted as androgynous to allow the reader to see themselves in
the journey and allows the narrator more flexibility. Enkidu was described as lush with head hair like a
woman . Gilgamesh recounted a dream to his mother saying, I fell in love with it like a woman I
caressed it . The use of the word it can imply gender is disregarded and allows the narrator the ability
to play with the idea of it being a woman but still leaving room for the masculine interpretation. In
contrast Enkidu was also described as a strong, fearless and great warrior. He was said to have the
strength of heaven, and mighty will be his strength he was also said to be valiant in the steppe which
signifies that he is fearless in the wild, and he would have the force of the hero Ninurta, god of war.
Enkidu s character is androgynous and his journey symbolizes that of man s. The story of Enkidu is
similar to the creation myth of the Bible. According to TheTorah.com part 1 The Midrash Adam like
Enkidu was created from clay and was Androgynous. According to Genesis 5:2 of the King James
Version Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day
when they were created This supports the theory that man was created androgynous. Since the epic
was written during the Babylonian era and their belief was that God and

The Progressive Era Essay
The Progressive Era was a period that exposed the contradictions found in American society in the late
nineteenth and early twentieth century. Theodore Roosevelt summed up the Progressive/Reform
feeling in his Square Deal speech that it was all about morals, not economics. His goal was the moral
regeneration of the business world. He preached that it was wrong for some people to get ahead in
business and politics by tricks and schemes, while others were cheated out of the opportunity. This
was the kind of talk that millions of Americans from all areas of society could understand and respond
to.
Roosevelt simply acted in the interests of the common working man, fixing things that they found
unjust. For years, the poor and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
American reform movements have generally been started as a rebellion against the control of big
businesses and corrupt government. The poor conditions of schools and the entire education system at
the turn of the twentieth century were a major cause for reform. That reform movement has influenced
the entire education system and has made it better and more suitable for students.(Buenker, 2007)
Civil rights for African Americans and women was just beginning to become an issue in the late 19th
century. Many progressivists spoke out for suffrage for women and equal rights for black people.
Today, civil rights for minorities is still a big cause for reform. There are many different
oraganizations whose goal is to reform the way society, the government and businesses treat any type
of minority, including Hispanics, homosexuals and Native Americans. However civil rights is just one
of the many causes of modern reform groups. Others include reform of huge companies and
monoplolies, welfare programs, education systems and many, many other issues.
A reform movement is a shout against people, businesses, governments or ideas that are morally
corrupt. Not all reform movements are successful in making an actual change, however even if a
significant change isn t made their message is still shared with the public. Reform group leaders are

I agree that the clock will lose time at the higher altitude. The acceleration due to gravity decreases
which means the frequency will decrease which means the angular frequency will decrease resulting
in a loss of time.
As the clock is moved further from the center of the earth, it loses time. This is because the
acceleration from gravity decreases more and more as higher altitudes are reached. This decrease in
the acceleration due to gravity leads us to believe that the frequency and the angular frequency
decrease as well which all relate to one other and cause time to be lost.
The clock would lose time because as the value of g decreases, the period increases.
When the clock is moved away from sea level gravity would slightly decrease causing the clock to
lose time. Pendulums are the most accurate at sea level.

Examples Of Medea Is The Only Villain In Medea
Medea is the only villain in Medea . Do you agree?
In the play Medea , written in 431 BC , the playwright Euripides showcases evil in very different
manners; from Medea s traditional evil ways with witchcraft and sorcery to Jason and Creon s villainy
through threats and subtle actions. While Medea s evilness is very clear for the audience to see, in
characters like Jason and Creon it is more subtle and needs thought to realise that their actions might
sometimes be more evil than Medea s. And although Medea will seem more villainous to modern
audiences, to ancient audiences actions like hers were often heard off in other myths and stories.
Firstly, Medea is someone with very wicked intentions who is a villain only to an extent because ...

the messenger it would give [her] double pleasure of their death was horrible . This clearly indicates
that Medea is happy to hear such grim news, and would be even happier to hear their gruesome
deaths. Medea has obviously gone mad and her villainess is overtaking her mind frame. Furthermore,
Medea is shows as a horrifically evil person when she kills her children. That is achieved through
Euripides use of dramatic irony to showcase the horror and evilness of Medea s actions and Jason s
anger. While the audience would know that Medea has done the evil deed, Jason does not and that
creates further fear as to what other evil crime Medea could have committed without anyone knowing,
creating suspense and fear. Euripides also frequently uses strong and emotive words to describe
Medea such as bloody handed fiend of vengeance , living curse and polluted fiend, child murderess .
Through the use of such words Euripides aims to describe Medea in the most vile way possible, which
would give modern and have given ancient audiences, a very clear insight into Medea s character and

Reasons For Juvenile Delinquency
Juvenile Delinquency and why they do it
Juvenile delinquency is a big thing in the United States of America. The reason for this is that it
accounts for a good portion of the percentage of crime, and it can lead to them committing crimes as
an adult. There are many theories that we will discuss as reasons why these kids will end up as a
statistic in juvenile delinquency and ways to slow down, if not stop, the numbers from becoming
higher.
What is Juvenile Delinquency
First of all, you may be wondering, what is juvenile delinquency? Juvenile delinquency is crime
committed by a child at the age of 18 and younger, that if committed by an adult would end up in
court or prison (Wilson,2000). That means that just because a kid skipped school does not mean he or
she would be considered a juvenile delinquent, but if that same child committed murder, rape, robbery,
assault, etc. he or she would be considered a juvenile delinquent(Wilson,2000). Be careful with this as
every state, federal government, etc. may have their own definition that may be a little different in the
writing or the age at which they follow.
Juvenile Delinquency Statistics
There are many statistics out there for juvenile delinquency from what age or grade they are most
likely to commit a crime to what race, sex and if there is a better chance to commit a crime do to
divorce, being around drugs or gangs, and etc(Hawkins,2000). All of these different things could be
causes or risk factors for juvenile delinquency, but does not guarantee that these kids would be
criminal s later in live.
One of those is the reason that juvenile delinquency needs to be looked at more and fixed is, juveniles
are involved or committed at least a quarter of all serious violent act, not to include murder in the past
25 years.(Juvenile Justice) In 1999 around 2.5 million juveniles were arrested and 104,000 were due
to violent crimes. There were 1.7 million juvenile delinquency cases in the courts in 1997. (Juvenile
Justice) About 2,000 were from homicide, 6,5oo for rape, 67,900 for assault and the rest were things
related with drugs. (Juvenile Justice) With these numbers it shows why considering juvenile
delinquency is very important to get that number down that it will

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Trade Unions In South Africa
A trade union is an organisation which consists of members, including workers and union leaders who
come together to protect and stimulate their common interests. The majority of trade unions are
independent of the employer. However, trade unions do try to develop close relationships between
employees and the employer. Sometimes, this may take the form of a partnership agreement between
the trade union and the employer which points out their common interests and objectives. According
to the South African Bill of Rights, anyone is free to join a trade union.
Employers who recognise a trade a union will negotiate with the members over their pay and working

INTRODUCTION
A vitamin so named in 1913 by political biochemist C. Funk is defined to be any of a number if
unrelated, complex organic substances found variously in most foods, or sometimes synthesized in the
body, and essential, in small amounts for the regulation of the metabolism and normal growth and
functioning of the body. (Webster s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) We often obtain the
substantial amount of Vitamin C through our diets since the body is unstable to synthesize and
actually produce Vitamin C on its own. Vitamin C also known as Ascorbic acid is a colorless,
crystalline, water soluble vitamin, found in many foods especially citrus fruits, vegetables, and rose
hips; its required for proper nutrition and metabolism, and a deficiency produces scurvy. (Webster s
New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) If an individual does not have a sufficient amount of
Vitamin C in their bloodstream it often leads to a slow recovery for a simple cold, and for the
formation of proteins (collagen) which then creates skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood
vessels. You need vitamin C for the growth and repair of tissues, healing of wounds, and for repairing
and maintaining bones and teeth. (http://umm.edu/health/medical/altmed/supplement/vitamin c

influence one s understanding of identity because they can restore an appreciation for the simple

A. The memoirs of one s childhood may remind an individual of their passed admiration for the
simple things, allowing an individual to reaffirm such a naïve fondness within adulthood.

Comparing The Third Wish And The Monkey s Paw
Some people think that if they could only change one aspect of their lives, it would be perfect. They
do not realize that anything that is changed could come with unintended consequences. The Monkey s
Paw by W.W. Jacobs and The Third Wish by Joan Aiken both illustrate this theme. They demonstrate
this by granting the main character three wishes, but with each wish that is granted, brings undesirable
consequences. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast The Monkey s Paw and The
Third Wish. Although the The Monkey s Paw and The Third Wish are both fantasies and have similar
themes, they have different main characters, wishes, and resolutions. A good story, whether it is true,

an empty street, awaiting Herbert s arrival, they are heartbroken knowing that they will probably never
see Herbert again. Unlike Mr. White s first wish, Mr. Peters wishes for a wife as beautiful as the
forest. However, Mr. Peters apprehends that Leita, his wife, will never be satisfied being a human,
because she longs to be with her swan sister. So, for his second wish, he wishes her back to swan
form. Now, without Leita Mr. Peters, as well as Mr. White, is heartbroken and a lonely man, once
again. Now, understanding that wishes only lead to misfortune, he decides not to use the third wish.
The end of a story, when all loose ends are tied and the reader knows what happens to the character(s),
can be described as the resolution. The theme of a story often goes along with the resolution as well.
The Monkey s Paw resolution is rather dark. Mr. White and his wife are heartbroken staring at an
empty street, knowing that they will never see their son again. The theme is if fate ruled people s lives,
and those who interfere with it do to their own sorrow. Overall, The Third Wish is much more of

The Prince Lessons
The Prince written by Niccolò Machiavelli was first published during the Italian Renaissance in 1532.
The book teaches politicians how to be powerful and yet viewed positively among the people.
Machiavelli discussed actions of past rulers of Europe and whether or not their actions were correct.
He analyzed how these men seized, retained and lost political power as well as land. The book has
lasted throughout the ages and is referred to as a classic by many. The reason behind this is that its
messages are applicable to all forms of government even in present day. However this was not what
Machiavelli intended when he first started writing the book. If read carefully, it can be seen that he

A key lesson is in chapter III when the reader learns how to retain land in a mixed principality. There
are two different types of rulers that Machiavelli talked about. The first one he talked about was King
Louis XII of France. He lectured that King Louis occupied Milan (an Italian state) and just as quickly
lost it (Machiavelli, 9). The author said that he seized it correctly but did not do anything to retain the
land he had captured. Machiavelli then introduces his ideas about retaining land and compares them to
the Romans in that same chapter. He then said the Romans captured and held massive amounts of
surrounding area as they followed the correct actions. Three main actions are taught in chapter three.
The first action is to make a ruler s land/country superior and the defender of your neighboring
lands/countries. The second is to not alter a newly seized territories s way of life and to go and live
there. These will both result in the people not viewing the prince as a foreigner therefore having a less

Emotional Analysis Of KFC
Commercial analyze KFC
I have chosen to analyze an old commercial from KFC. I do not know from which year the

The target audience for the commercial is Housewives and their family. The commercial needs to get
attention from people in general because they are the people that is supposed to eat the fried chicken,

also an emotional argument, they want the audience to feel the feeling when they do not got so much

I do not think that the commercial objectify anyone. Because objectifying is when you use a person as
an object instead of a person, which is not shown in the commercial. Stereotypes is something that is
used in the commercial. That the housewives got the responsibility for the household to take care of

By entering in to such an agreement with the local distributors, that in the Middle East play a very
important role on the market, they managed to create entry barriers for competitors. The other MNCs
such as Nestlé tried to penetrate the market by focusing on other distribution channels such as
supermarkets. They fought over the best shelf space and they had high marketing expenses. Initially
their products were not as successful as they had hoped and they quickly realized that they had to
adapt to the local conditions and local preferences that differed a lot from the western ones.
Why have MNCs entered the ice cream market recently?
Saudi Arabia and the Middle Eastern region offered a high potential for the sales of ice cream. The
climate and the demographics (large number of children) were optimal for ice cream consumption.
Also the consumption patterns of the Middle East were getting more and more similar to the ones of
the western world, which meant that there was a large growth potential on the market.

The Middle East and Saudi Arabia are an emerging market with a great potential. The consumer
patterns are changing and the special local conditions are becoming more and more erased. The

Being An Athlete
If there was one word to describe me in middle school it was tomboy. Although I was in dance class
and cheered for my school, I loved playing sports. I enjoyed getting rough and rowdy in the backyard
with my brother and being the only girl in the neighborhood that the boys let on their team during pick
up games. However, my girlfriends would often comment, Emily, you ll never be cool by playing
sports, and Beating the boys will never make you popular or get you a boyfriend. At the time their
comments didn t matter. It was what I enjoyed doing. Then came high school and all of a sudden it
was clear I had two options. I could try become one of the cool girls and just cheer or I could continue
to pursue my love of sports. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Somehow my hand got caught beneath her as we fell to the ground. Popping to my feet I felt some
pain in my hand and I assumed I just jammed a finger. The game was too close and there was no time
to worry about an injury. When my coach saw I was favoring it, he called a timeout. When asked if I
was okay, I responded It hurts, but I think I just jammed a finger and proceeded to tape it myself. Once
done, I was back on the court, playing through the pain. My team suffered a heartbreaking defeat that
night and hours later I learned that my season could be over. The emergency room physician
instructed me to see an orthopedic surgeon, my hand was broken. The next day I saw the surgeon. He
reviewed the x rays and explained his plans for repairing the break. Throughout the course of the
treatment he consistently inquired about the team and how I was handling not being able to play. His
actions revealed that he was not only interested in my broken hand, but in my overall well being. With
a few weeks left in the season, I entered his office with the notion that he would release me to play
again. He looked at the x rays and did his usual examination. Once completed, he said I know you
want to play, but one bump the wrong way and we ll be in surgery. He glanced at my mom and said If
this was my daughter I wouldn t let you play the rest of the season. While I respected his opinion, I did
not like it. I knew there was

Vashtivity In E. M. Forster s The Machine Stops
Fading into Darkness
E.M. Forster s, The Machine Stops, is a short story which aims to show us how man s creativity and
his ability to think in general, while necessary for survival, could lead to his downfall. In this story we
are introduced to a civilization in which life on Earth has been almost completely erased abandoned
for one in the Machine, underneath the surface. We experience this civilization through the eyes of the
main characters, Vashti and her son Kuno. Vashti has adapted to life in the machine, accepting things
the way they are; relinquishing her self reliance in full trust of the Machine. While, Kuno the rebel
who longs to see the world above, fights against societal norms, as he not only comes up with his own
ideas, but also questions the Machine, which others see as their god. In this overly exaggerated ...

From the time that we are children our minds run wild, and some of us have an imagination that has a
flare of ingenuity. From my perspective as technology advances, creativity decreases. As a child
growing up my life was scarcely affected technology. In my village the chances that a child would
have a Gameboy were rare and cell phones were somewhat of a luxury for most adults. The beauty in
not having much technology was that it required children to be imaginative to find ways to entertain
themselves. Unlike Vashti of who the question has she had any ideas lately? Might one tell her one s
own ideas? (pg111) is asked rather indifferently, we would have been very bored as kids if we did not
come up with new ideas regularly. In E.M. Forster s civilization people have no problem with
repetition and commonality. While most people have adapted to life as it is, Kuno realizes that life as
it is, is dependent on the Machine, and the people living in the Machine are less alive than the

Research Paper On Arshile Gorky
Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during his
lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract
expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I had
chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason I chose
Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded interesting. Based on
his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because Gorky sounds like the slang
word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces that were really eye popping, and
not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning
who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for
hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece, The
Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason the public
adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the table, and pathos
strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message to the table something
similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a prominent link between surrealists
and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist generations, and that is why he is so favorable.
In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not make sense of at all. However, he does have some great
pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936),
and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944). These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the
history and meaning behind his work makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can
understand what he is trying to say and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas.
Therefore, I believe he deserves the respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have
existed, as his accomplishments have gone

That s right. You ll be competing against 9 other men that will also be shooting arrows, so it s fair. You all will get 2 arrows, which mean 2 chances to win. It ll begin once I say three. Good Luck, he stated and stepped back. Sounds easy enough, she stated. On the count of three, arches begin. One, two, three, yelled John. The sounds of arrows being released from bows sounded from around her. While, strands of her dark hair blew across her face as she stared beyond at the target. She lifted her bow and arrow, knowing the wind would affect it. As she aimed, the others finished making the air silent except for the beating off her heart. She focused on the red dot to where it was the only thing she saw, along with the tip of the arrow. Then after one exhale she released it. However, the arrow flew straight into the bushes behind the target. Bursts of laughter rang across the land. I told you! Natives can t work their own weapons, a laughing man whispered. • 3. Sylvia Plath and Anne Sexton Confessional Poets Sylvia Plath (1932 1963) and Anne Sexton (1928 1974) both explored similar themes such as tone, structure, and symbolism. Many of their poems were cries for help, which resulted into metal illness, depression, and suicide. In 1958, Anne Sexton and Sylvia Plath met, and much to their surprise had a few things in common. They both were fascinated with death and suicide. Both Sexton s and Plath s poetry are considered as confessional poetry in which they were very honest, depressed, and had suicidal or homicidal tendencies. Sylvia and Anne s views on what happened in their life and on independence, are what nearly separates them from other confessional poets. Sexton and Plath s poetry range over a variety of topics such as death, suicide, rage, and mourning. They both utilize a convincing use of symbolism, deep image, metaphors, and soul searching. Plath s The Colossus , Full Fathom Five , Daddy , and Sexton s And one for My Dame and All My Pretty Ones , are very enraged and different feminist perspectives, giving different views on the relationships with a father and a husband. Inspired by their true life memories, Plath and Sexton explore a variety of themes in their poems. They both have different aspects of the relationship between a father and a daughter. Examination of the suggested collapse during Egypt s New Kingdom is also plagued with predispositions and altering theories. Some arguments blame an adulteration of morals leading to the decline of complex traditional and religious beliefs. Others solely blame an environmental crisis capable of facilitating an economic crisis large enough to annihilate financial solidity for the entire kingdom. • 5. Separation Of The Proteins Involved Separation of the proteins involved in both species blood and serum revealed that each was composed of a major protein. A prominent protein in the rabbit blood was found accumulating at approximately 13kDa, as shown in Figure 1 and Figure 2. It was concluded that this protein was most likely hemoglobin, given the weight and large amount present in all blood due to its necessary function of transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body. Hemoglobin is a tetrameric protein of about 64.5 kDa, consisting of two chains and two chains which breaks down into each subunit having an approximate weight of 15kDa (Yu et al, 1997). This was in correlation with the data present in Figure 1, given that the major protein present in rabbit blood was approximately 13kDa, which would be the subunits that make up hemoglobin. We hypothesized that similar proteins would also be present in bovine blood, yet the major band present in this sample was located at much higher molecular weight of approximately 45 kDa. Potential causes in weight differences could be the longer amino acid sequence present in rabbit hemoglobin, 170 amino acids, versus the 145 amino acids present in bovine hemoglobin, yet this would result in bovine being further down on the gel versus what is actually shown (Altschul et al, 1997). Given the data obtained, potential misidentification of hemoglobin appearing as the main protein present or possible error in lane one (rabbit blood), could explain the anomaly in ... • 6. Giant Hogweed Research Paper The control and eradication of invasive species in Washington State is an important part of maintaining the diversity and wellbeing of our ecosystems. One invasive species common to us, Heracleum mantegazzianum, otherwise known as giant hogweed, is a Class A weed and must be eliminated where encountered (Noxious Weed Control Board). H. mantegazzianum is recognizable by its immense height of up to 20 feet, and its thick stalks support umbels of small, clustered white flowers. It can be distinguished from plants of similar appearance by purple blotches located on the stems (Noxious Weed Control Board). They are commonly found near riverbanks and roadsides. (New York State Department of Environmental Conservation). H. mantegazzianum owes much of its success as an invasive species to its reproductive capabilities as an angiosperm. For these reasons, it is imperative that this weed is eradicated in the state of Washington. Different methods of eliminating giant hogweed exist, with varying results. For young plants, cutting the root 6 inches below the earth can be effective when infestations are small. However, during and after the Partition, sexual violence, both towards men and women, escalated, resulting in the rape and abduction of over 80,000 women. Cracking India, by Bapsi Sidhwa, tells a story that highlights these violent acts by both Muslims and Hindus, through the eyes of a disabled young Parsi girl named Lenny, who witnesses first hand the violence of Partition when she mistakenly participates in the abduction of her ayah, Shanta. Throughout Cracking India, Lenny observes as the religions involved in Partition become increasingly violent towards both men and women, within their own religions and against others. Lenny, who begins the novel as a very naïve young Parsi girl, comes to understand that the foundations of violence in her surroundings are largely gendered and that the experience of this violence is differentiated along gender lines (Rastegar 27). Lenny witnesses the evolution of Ayah s suitors, (who are Parsi, Hindu and Muslim), from men interested in being with Ayah to men who are desperate to control Ayah. The title of DeLillo s eighth novel White Noise brings forth many assumptions towards the overall meaning of the book. If one was to generally interpret the meaning, white noise is produced when sound waves are joined together creating a constant buzz. This buzz can produce a relaxing or an overwhelming feeling, depending, if it refers to a repetitive noise one is trying to avoid or perhaps noise one is trying to embrace. With this being said, DeLillo s White Noise is set in the twentieth century, and tells a story about a college professor by the name of Jack Gladney who is a professor for the Hitler Studies at College on the Hill. Throughout the novel it is evident that Jack is the main character and the narrator of the story, who experiences a constant murmur of his underlying fear of death invading his thoughts. • 19. The Nuclear Family Essay The Diminishing Nuclear Family Hadar Mustafa Jun29, 2015 Introduction More often than not, stable and functional families serve as a prerequisite to a good society. Hence, the society s support system for families must be flexible because needs and goals of families vary over time (Loveless, 2007). However, nuclear families face many challenges because parenting, child rearing, and other economic responsibilities had to be done by two adults only (Bowden Smith, 2010). In this paper, we look into the development of the nuclear family: its origin, evolution, and status today. We also look into the most influential factors that led to the current status of nuclear families. We also look into the recommendations that represent different values and belief systems that promote the revival of degraded idealization and decline of the nuclear family. The Modern Nuclear Family The development of the modern nuclear family is considered as a truly remarkable element in the history of the human social organization. The modern nuclear family is composed of a monogamous married couple living with their children, apart from their relatives. The husband is working outside the home, while the wife is a full time mother and housewife. • 20. The Concept of Good Death Death and Dying 1. What does the term good death mean? Death is never an easy thing to deal with. When a loved one dies, people will naturally go through a system of mourning wherein they laud and appreciate the person who is now gone from their lives forever. There are times when deaths are more difficult to deal with, such as when a death is unexpected or when the deceased is a young person who should have had a long life ahead of them. Although death is never necessarily a happy event, there are occurrences where the passing away of a friend or loved one can be quantified as a good, if not pleasant event. According to the text, there are three conditions wherein a death can be considered a good death. First, there is the medically based good death. In this scenario, a person has been ill for a considerable length of time. Their illness is chronic, painful, and incurable. Thus, when that person finally passes away from that disease, their death is good because they are no longer in the position where they are suffering. The second type of good death is the sacred death wherein a person dies for some sort of religious purpose. In many ancient cultures, there were civilizations which used the practice of human sacrifice for a variety of reasons, including honoring the gods and ensuring a strong harvest of crops. Modern cultures do not usually include sacred deaths nor sacrificial deaths and often prosecute those who choose to participate in such events. Thirdly, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The food retail industry is the most attractive and the international refrigerated bread industry is the least attractive. The food retail industry is the most attractive primarily because it has an extremely high market size. This industry is benefiting from the economic downturn because less people are eating at restaurants. Instead they are making more meals at home. Although this industry is benefiting from the economic downturn, there is a high risk of uncertainty. This is because of the competitiveness of the industry, economic factors, and emerging opportunities that the business unit will have to face. On the other side, the international refrigerated bread industry is the least attractive because of the global economic downturn. The economic recession affected this company particularly hard. Spain is the main country that supported this industry for refrigerated bread and got hit harder than other countries. Spain is also the only country that is looking to continue the want for refrigerated bread, whereas other countries are turning to fresh breads as its leading bread products causing the projected growth rate to decrease significantly. • 23. The Musical Aspects Of Frank Sinatra Chapter Two: Sinatra as a Cultural Icon In the first chapter, this essay primarily addressed the musical aspects of Frank Sinatra. This section will examine his celebrity image, and how it reflected the values of popular culture that spanned his career. Sinatra was the first musician, more specifically a singer, to achieve this kind of fame and notoriety among his audiences. Intentional or not, he started a trend in popular music that would later be replicated by many artists, including Elvis, Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, and Barbara Streisand. One interesting facet about Sinatra is that he was not born into stardom, nor groomed for success. As mentioned above, Sinatra was born of two middle class Italian immigrants. Deeply rooted in American culture is the concept of the American Dream , espousing the country as a land of opportunity where anything is possible. Michael Frontani cites author Richard Weiss, in describing this ideal: The belief that all men, in accordance with certain rules, but exclusively by their own efforts, can make of their lives what they will... The pursuit of the American Dream involves a long road to financial independence for the individual, achieved by resilience and hard work. Whether or not the dream could be easily attainable by anyone is up for debate, as Sinatra faced racism and adversity early on in his quest for fame. Coming from a disadvantaged Italian family, Frontani recalls how his mother, Dolly, wanted him to seek out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Enkidu was depicted as androgynous to allow the reader to see themselves in the journey and allows the narrator more flexibility. Enkidu was described as lush with head hair like a woman . Gilgamesh recounted a dream to his mother saying, I fell in love with it like a woman I caressed it . The use of the word it can imply gender is disregarded and allows the narrator the ability to play with the idea of it being a woman but still leaving room for the masculine interpretation. In contrast Enkidu was also described as a strong, fearless and great warrior. He was said to have the strength of heaven, and mighty will be his strength he was also said to be valiant in the steppe which signifies that he is fearless in the wild, and he would have the force of the hero Ninurta, god of war. Enkidu s character is androgynous and his journey symbolizes that of man s. The story of Enkidu is similar to the creation myth of the Bible. According to TheTorah.com part 1 The Midrash Adam like Enkidu was created from clay and was Androgynous. According to Genesis 5:2 of the King James Version Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created This supports the theory that man was created androgynous. He preached that it was wrong for some people to get ahead in business and politics by tricks and schemes, while others were cheated out of the opportunity. As the clock is moved further from the center of the earth, it loses time. This is because the acceleration from gravity decreases more and more as higher altitudes are reached. This decrease in the acceleration due to gravity leads us to believe that the frequency and the angular frequency decrease as well which all relate to one other and cause time to be lost. In the play Medea , written in 431 BC , the playwright Euripides showcases evil in very different manners; from Medea s traditional evil ways with witchcraft and sorcery to Jason and Creon s villainy through threats and subtle actions. While Medea s evilness is very clear for the audience to see, in characters like Jason and Creon it is more subtle and needs thought to realise that their actions might sometimes be more evil than Medea s. • 28. Reasons For Juvenile Delinquency Juvenile Delinquency and why they do it Juvenile delinquency is a big thing in the United States of America. The reason for this is that it accounts for a good portion of the percentage of crime, and it can lead to them committing crimes as an adult. There are many theories that we will discuss as reasons why these kids will end up as a statistic in juvenile delinquency and ways to slow down, if not stop, the numbers from becoming higher. What is Juvenile Delinquency First of all, you may be wondering, what is juvenile delinquency? Juvenile delinquency is crime committed by a child at the age of 18 and younger, that if committed by an adult would end up in court or prison (Wilson,2000). That means that just because a kid skipped school does not mean he or she would be considered a juvenile delinquent, but if that same child committed murder, rape, robbery, assault, etc. he or she would be considered a juvenile delinquent(Wilson,2000). Be careful with this as every state, federal government, etc. may have their own definition that may be a little different in the writing or the age at which they follow. Juvenile Delinquency Statistics There are many statistics out there for juvenile delinquency from what age or grade they are most likely to commit a crime to what race, sex and if there is a better chance to commit a crime do to divorce, being around drugs or gangs, and etc(Hawkins,2000). All of these different things could be causes or risk factors for juvenile delinquency, but does not guarantee that these kids would be criminal s later in live. One of those is the reason that juvenile delinquency needs to be looked at more and fixed is, juveniles are involved or committed at least a quarter of all serious violent act, not to include murder in the past 25 years.(Juvenile Justice) In 1999 around 2.5 million juveniles were arrested and 104,000 were due to violent crimes. There were 1.7 million juvenile delinquency cases in the courts in 1997. (Juvenile Justice) About 2,000 were from homicide, 6,5oo for rape, 67,900 for assault and the rest were things related with drugs. Funk is defined to be any of a number if unrelated, complex organic substances found variously in most foods, or sometimes synthesized in the body, and essential, in small amounts for the regulation of the metabolism and normal growth and functioning of the body. (Webster s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) We often obtain the substantial amount of Vitamin C through our diets since the body is unstable to synthesize and actually produce Vitamin C on its own. Vitamin C also known as Ascorbic acid is a colorless, crystalline, water soluble vitamin, found in many foods especially citrus fruits, vegetables, and rose hips; its required for proper nutrition and metabolism, and a deficiency produces scurvy. (Webster s New World College Dictionary, 4th Edition) If an individual does not have a sufficient amount of Vitamin C in their bloodstream it often leads to a slow recovery for a simple cold, and for the formation of proteins (collagen) which then creates skin, cartilage, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. Once completed, he said I know you want to play, but one bump the wrong way and we ll be in surgery. He glanced at my mom and said If this was my daughter I wouldn t let you play the rest of the season. While I respected his opinion, I did not like it. I knew there was ... • 41. Vashtivity In E. M. Forster s The Machine Stops Fading into Darkness E.M. Forster s, The Machine Stops, is a short story which aims to show us how man s creativity and his ability to think in general, while necessary for survival, could lead to his downfall. In this story we are introduced to a civilization in which life on Earth has been almost completely erased abandoned for one in the Machine, underneath the surface. We experience this civilization through the eyes of the main characters, Vashti and her son Kuno. Vashti has adapted to life in the machine, accepting things the way they are; relinquishing her self reliance in full trust of the Machine. While, Kuno the rebel who longs to see the world above, fights against societal norms, as he not only comes up with his own ideas, but also questions the Machine, which others see as their god. In this overly exaggerated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the time that we are children our minds run wild, and some of us have an imagination that has a flare of ingenuity. From my perspective as technology advances, creativity decreases. As a child growing up my life was scarcely affected technology. In my village the chances that a child would have a Gameboy were rare and cell phones were somewhat of a luxury for most adults. The beauty in not having much technology was that it required children to be imaginative to find ways to entertain themselves. Unlike Vashti of who the question has she had any ideas lately? Might one tell her one s own ideas? (pg111) is asked rather indifferently, we would have been very bored as kids if we did not come up with new ideas regularly. In E.M. Forster s civilization people have no problem with repetition and commonality. While most people have adapted to life as it is, Kuno realizes that life as it is, is dependent on the Machine, and the people living in the Machine are less alive than the Machine ... • 42. Research Paper On Arshile Gorky Arshile Gorky, one of the legacies in American art, created beautiful yet tragic paintings during his lifetime. It is disappointing to imagine that his name is not well known among the abstract expressionists, as he had so much influence and deserves to be more well recognized. In fact, I had chosen Gorky without knowing who he was at all or what kind of artist he was. The reason I chose Gorky for this research paper was actually because of his name since it sounded interesting. Based on his name, I imagined Gorki would be crazy or out there , mainly because Gorky sounds like the slang word, corky . So from that, I imagined I would find some art pieces that were really eye popping, and not traditional. Basically, my expectations were right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even other top artists had complimented him and his work, like his good friend Willem De Kooning who excitingly told, I met a lot of artists but then I met Gorky... He had an extraordinary gift for hitting the nail on the head; remarkable. and Andre Breton who exclaimed that Corky s piece, The Liver is the Cock s Comb, was one of the most important paintings in America . The reason the public adored Gorky as well as other fellow artists was because he brought emotions to the table, and pathos strike the public. Not only that, Gorky also brought his own style and message to the table something similar to surrealists, but distinguished enough that he became a prominent link between surrealists and abstract expressionists. He is a bridge of two artist generations, and that is why he is so favorable. In my opinion, some of his artwork I can not make sense of at all. However, he does have some great pieces, like Study for Nighttime, Enigma and Nostalgia (1932), The Artist s Mother (1926 or 1936), and The Leaf of the Artichoke (1944). These pieces are extremely abstract, but now that I know the history and meaning behind his work makes it so the artwork connects with me more and that I can understand what he is trying to say and all of the emotions he is bleeding out onto the canvas. Therefore, I believe he deserves the respect of being one of the greatest American artists that have existed, as his accomplishments have gone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
