This Essay Will Mostly Outline A Proposed Solution To The
This essay will mostly outline a proposed solution to the never ending worldwide problem of
nuclear weapons. The paper will use of relevant sources, with logic, and a humanitarian appeal to
show the reader why nuclear weapons must come to end. It will show the reader how the
solution will work and why it s the very best solution to put a halt on the worldwide epidemic we
are faced with each and every day within various countries. The paper will also give the reader a
sense of urgency to go out and try and make a difference, so we can make this change described.
They get this sense of urgency because the essay illustrates a proposal that is simple, logical, and

Mainly for nationalistic reasons or for warfare purposes. Which is precisely the problem;
innocent citizens get killed and evaporated because another country s military used the lethal
weapon of nuclear power to gain an edge on an enemy. Which, one can go on to find out, will
create ever more problems than it actually intended to solve. Now that we can see, as nations, the
underlying problem with nuclear weapons, what can we do to ensure this problem doesn t persist?
There are many possibilities, but really only one solution. To understand how a nuclear ban or
abolition could actually happen, one must understand that it would virtually take a unanimous vote.
All the countries would have to agree on banning weapons so that it would ensure fully that no
nuclear weapons would be usable. So what possibly could be a solution? Well, firstly it s not
rocket science; just following governmental procedures, and knowing how a bill becomes a law, it s
quite simple. First, a convention must be held with every country, and then an official document,
most presumably a treaty, must be signed into law stating the worldwide disarmament of nuclear
weaponry. This is just a constitutional process, and has great potential to be successful, but if this is
not convincing enough, try taking Tom Sauer s word on it. Sauer (2016), an Associate Professor at
the Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium), says first a Nuclear Weapons

Deakin Fusion Essay
Deakin took over as Prime Minister, leading a Protectionist government, on 24 September 1903
when Barton quit politics to become a judge of the newly instituted High Court. Deakin retained
government at the second general election on 16 December 1903 but had to rely on Labor support.
He held power for another four months, until 27 April 1904, when his government was defeated in
parliament over a Labor amendment to the Conciliation and Arbitration Bill. Deakin resigned the
prime ministership, which then went to Labor s leader, John Christian Watson. Deakin became
Prime Minister for the second time on 5 July 1905 when George Houston Reid resigned. Deakin s

The new grouping was known as the Fusion. On 2 June 1909 the Fusion defeated Fisher s Labor

1910. Deakin s total period in office amounted to four years and ten months, the longest time served
by any of the six Prime Ministers to 1915. Despite relatively short and discontinuous periods in
office, his governments were responsible for much policy and legislation giving shape to the
Commonwealth during its first decade. Among the achievements during Deakin s periods as Prime

Ambition By Gary Soto Summary
Gary Soto, who among many things was a Mexican American poet, many times wrote about
what he knew best: his life. Growing up as a Chicano in America in the 50s and 60s, Soto
worked in fields as a laborer from a young age. It is evident that coming from a Hispanic working
class family greatly influenced his poem Ambition . As he is known for, Soto s poem is filled
with imagery of everyday life, while harping on important details and themes of things that he
may have seen around him., but in this instance, there was a bit of confusion. To begin with, the
poem Ambition starts off with the line For years our ambition was to eat/Chicken (1 2). Without
further analysis, at this point the reader is most likely confused, much like I was. Chicken? How
could eating be one s goal, one s aspiration in life? The word ambition is usually associated with
lofty goals. It would not seem out of place to say that one s ambition was to become a doctor or
to make a better life for oneself. So the speaker in the poem could not truly believe that all that he
wanted in life was to eat chicken. The outlandishness of this statement seems to be the speaker
pointing huge arrows towards places in the poem that invoke deeper meaning to... Show more

Cats are said to have nine lives, to have multiple, or one might say an abundance of chances to
get things right or to live. The actual cats came looking for food and in the last line of the poem
it says the cats can to us for/The love of chicken, but love all the same. (40 41). If the members of
this story are the cats, the speaker seems to be saying that, as I paraphrased in my pre write, that
although seemingly shallow, the love of something superficial like food or chicken was validated
because it was still love. Although superficial, the love of food translates to a love of a nessesity

Swot Analysis Of Mac Ride
1.0Introduction
In this capstone integrated project report, the project team explored the firm Ride More
Innovations Ltd. (RMI) and its first product, Mac Ride . Mac Ride is a unique, front mounted,
child seat for mountain bicycles. This report begins by analyzing the child bike seat industry.
Subsequently, RMI s current strategy, potential markets and competitors across various
geographical locations are investigated in detail. Based on this analysis, different strategies are
analyzed before a final recommendation is suggested. The report also includes an implementation
guide for the recommended strategy as well as a description of the finance required to execute the
strategy and expected results of the strategy execution.

Accordingly, the child can participate in the ride, stand on the stirrups, all while having fun and
learning about balance and speed. Additionally, parents benefit by having the opportunity to have a
real conversation with his/her child without distractions or having to continually look back. Mac
Ride facilitates a closer connection between parents and children in their bicycle riding experience.
Mac Ride seats are easy to set up and suitable for off road riding, and, therefore, support an active,
engaged experience for children. Once the Mac Ride seat is removed, the only thing left on the
bike is a small spacer ring which blends into the bicycle design and may go completely unnoticed.
Easy removal and installation also allows parents to exchange the Mac Ride child seat quickly so
parents may take turns exploring and sharing their bicycling adventure with their child.
There do exist conventional front mounted bicycle children s seats. However, they have limited
space and children quickly outgrow the plastic seats which are usually clunky, aesthetically
unpleasing, and difficult to maintain. However, Mac Ride has extendable legs and a movable
seat, allowing children to use the seat for a longer duration than other conventional front mounted
seats. Depending on the size of the bike and height of the rider, children as old as 6 can easily use
and have fun with Mac Ride.
Furthermore, other front mounted child carriers often force the

Margaret Cavendish s Use Of Imagery
To hunt or be hunted
Imagery of the hunt traces back to Francesco Petrarch s sonnets, and perhaps further. This imagery
has been predominantly used by male writers, and consequently the trope is framed through the
male voice. It generally features a male lover in the position of the huntsman, and his female object
of desire in the position of the hunted, often represented as a deer or a bird. As a result, the metaphor
of the hunt is often romanticized and huntsmans are disarmed and portrayed as lovers. Margaret
Cavendish responds to this trope with her poem The Hunting of the Hare, in which she provides a
much different understanding of the interaction by writing from the point of view of the hunted.
Cavendish flips the narrative to expose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beginning with sympathy: Cavendish sets up the hunted, rather than the huntsmen, as the object
of sympathy. In order to do so, she first personifies the hare. She gives him a name: Wat, which
already humanizes the creature and directs the reader s sympathy towards the hare rather than
the huntsmen, who have yet to be introduced. The hare is also depicted using his forefeet [to
rub] his face from dust, and sweat (40), an action similar to a person using their hands to wipe
their face. Furthermore, Cavendish describes the hare s weeping eyes (81), and since most
animals cannot weep it further personifies the hare by ascribing to him a human expression of
deep emotion. In personifying the hare, Cavendish diminishes the distance between the creature
and her readers, making it easier to relate to and sympathize with the hare. Secondly, Cavendish
sets Wat up to be an intelligent and rational creature. She opens the poem by presenting him
lying in a calculated and well thought out position to stay warm and fend off the wind. She
further claims that he is wise (7), and references His thoughts (24). Lastly, Wat s intelligence is
exemplified by his clever use of a strategy: he decides to try Winding about, for to deceive [the
dog s] scent (36). By establishing that the hare is a thinking being, Cavendish elevates him to
somewhere between man and the beast. In doing so, she allows her readers to relate to him better,
and it helps demonize the hunters who do not treat him as a thinking

What Happened: Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is accused of killing Carlos Rivera because her
prints are on Julian s murder weapon, A.K.A. the dagger Helena used to murder Alexis mother
(6/17). Julian (William Devry) wants her to stand trial, promising to get her off (6/20). Alexis
teams up with the PCPD and wears a wire, hoping to coax a confession out of him in the
homicides of Duke Lavery, Rivera and a court witness (7/6). Julian finds the wire, takes her to the
docks and nearly slits her throat before Sonny rescues her and she s able to stab him (7/8). As a
result of working in Julian s favor while she was Carlos lawyer, Alexis is temporarily disbarred (8

she reveals she may be getting a divorce (7/20). Sonny sees Kristina kissing Parker (7/22) and
they have a heart to heart about her sexual orientation (7/26).When Alexis confronts and reminds
Parker that she has no long term intentions with Kristina (7/26), she sends a Dear John letter (7

My Commentary: The downward spiral of JuLexis was exciting, entertaining and fascinating, and
anytime Grahn is given sordid material it s a good day because she slays it, but it was also another
example of detrimental short term writing. Julian was written into a such a hole, that it would be
virtually impossible to get him out or restore the coupling in the way that wouldn t be utterly

Side Effects Of American Imperialism
Imperialism is described in the American history as a the quest for colonial empires . This was
something new for the newly developed country, the request for more natural resources was at
its peak, with countries like Britain, Germany who have practised imperialism and has
succeeded in expanding its power and influence the United State was more than eager to get into
this river that seems to cough out silver and gold. At first, most American viewed this as a
positive expansion because it will help spread American way of life such as democracy.
However this idea was not fully explored by the Americans, they headed into a battlefield with
weapons and crafty strategy but without knowledge of what the war is about and a possible side
effect on not just the U.S. Do Americans in today s worldview imperialism as a positive idea or
negative?. Imperialism is viewed by many an immoral act even if its initial reason was thoughtful,
suppression of the American way of life and the after effect is a stain on the nation that way never
be wiped out.
American must begin to look outward. the growing production of the country demands it.... U.S
Navy Officer Alfred T. Mahan perfectly describes the main reason why the American decided to
tryout imperialism. with the booming economy of the second industrial age, U.S was running out
of almost everything except the increment of a worker from the immigrating groups. Rev Strong
called it survival to the fittest now this claim is beyond unnecessary and thoughtless survival to
the fittest is something occurs only in the lower animal kingdom, and survival to the fittest mostly
is over food not recourse like oil. Americans in today s world that understand the definition of
democracy will view this act of expansion an immoral under the declaration of independence you
cannot govern a foreign territory, a foreign people, other people than your own...you can not govern
them U.S Senator George F. Hoar. Now, let s ask us why the revolutionary war was fought, the
British former colony now known as the United States of America was against the imperialism, they
did not want to be ruled by people who can not attend to the needs, they didn t wish to follow the
constitution of parliament

rober lowell Essay examples
Te poem by Robert Lowell seems as if he was remembering his mother s death and what he had
gone through during that time. He tells the story in a poem in a sequential order from being in the
hospital, being in the car with her dead body and finally in the cemetery burying her.
In the hospital we can see that he remembers that the nurse could only speak in Italian. We also see
that, he kind of knew that his mom was going to die because he says that there is only a week left
of her existence. By thinking about all this Robert Lowell starts to tear and I guess does cry.
When he gets his mother s casket in the car he gets very descriptive by saying, the whole shoreline

here was Father, now buried beneath his recent unweathered pink veined slice of marble. When
Robert says recent you can guess that it wasn t long ago that his father had past away. When
Robert said unhistoric is seemed as if him and his dad weren t close at all. His dad was some
sort of business man who basically or I can tell never had time to spend with his son. Even on
the father s grave it said Occasionem cognosce, which means, recognize (your) opportunity, this
seemed like he even died during a business deal or something. The engravement on his grave
seemed like he was selling something, unlike other s whose graves say Rest In Peace or

Then he talks about the mother s grave, maybe comparing it with the father s grave. We can see that
the mother s maiden name could have been either Winslows or Starts. Then I see that the grave

Comparing Death of a Salesman and The American Dream Essay
Comparing Death of a Salesman and The American Dream
In Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman and Edward Albee s The American Dream, Willy
Lowman and Mommy possess the trait of superficiality. Their priorities are to look good and be
liked, and this contributes to their misguided paths to reach success. This attribute is one of many
societal criticisms pointed out by both authors. Arthur Miller criticizes society for perceiving
success as being liked and having good looks. He illustrates society s perception through Willy, who
thinks the keys to success are being popular and attractive. Willy transmits this philosophy to his
sons by ignoring their education and personal growth and setting an example that popularity is most

Willy continues to teach his sons his misguided values by telling them education is almost useless
and a good body is a fine substitute.
Bernard can get the best marks in school, y understand , but when he gets out in the business
world, y understand, you are going to be five times ahead of him. That s why I thank the Almighty
God you re both built like Adonises. Because the man that makes the appearance in the business
world, the man who creates personal interest, is the man who gets ahead. Be liked and you ll never
want. (pg. 33)
Willy is now misleading his sons into thinking good looks will keep them alive in the corporate
world and education won t, yet Willy is a man with respectable looks and he isn t surviving in the
same world. Fifteen years later, Willy continues to preach the same theory, even after he has seen
both his sons fail in the world, having been guided by his words. Prior to Biff s proposal to Bill
Oliver for ten thousand dollars , Willy is still stuffing his sons heads with the same misleading
advise.
It s not what you say, it s how you say it because personality always wins the day. (pg. 65)
Willy s final words of advise to Biff are no different than his first and no more educational. Biff, like
Willy, does not learn from his mistakes and steals a fountain pen from Bill Oliver, leaving him
unable to face Oliver again to ask for money. Willy s advice on the

The Characteristics Of Self-Government In Colonial America
From the earliest starting point the English pioneers appreciated a more substantial level of self
government then the other European pilgrims. As more explorers migrated to the colonies and
rooted their lives in colonial America, they began to feel isolated from the world they knew.
Consequently, this isolation from the English rule marked a very difficult start to a new beginning
and necessitated a gradual transition from the English culture to the American culture. Moreover,
with this new American culture, the newcomers throughout the colonies began to think differently
than their English cousins. Having the Atlantic Ocean operate as a buffer from English influence,
the primitive societies began to assimilate and vote on their ideas of freedoms, rights and
tolerances, and put them into legal documents. Accordingly, this display of democratic character
was the beginning deviation from England s monarchic ways that set the New World on the path to
a Democratic Society. Having the habit of self governmentfrom the very beginning, the colonist
readily accepted the New American culture with concepts such as Majority rule , All Men are
Created Equal , and Religious Tolerance . The first characteristic in the colonies of America that
can be described as democratic would be examples of majority rule, and in the different sides of the
ever changing governmental structures. This characteristic can be seen in the Mayflower Compact
which began from forty one separatists who came

Aims and objectives
During the First and the Second World Wars Europehad to witness nationalist rivalries, which led
the continent to the catastrophe. For many, those wars meant the beginning of the end of the
European civilization. Others, a minority, drew from that the conclusion that the European
capability to overcome aggressive nationalism which caused those tragedies, is achievable by
adopting the idea of the united and peaceful continent as a common project.[6] That inspiration was
to be insured by a share of common, European distinctiveness. However, this process implies the
necessity to consider the impact of nationalism and the role of national states in a growing trend for
a united Europe. As Anthony D. Smith predicts:
The Europe of the future, if it should ever emerge, will be one of the mass identification and
loyalty to the European ideal, alongside or even in place of national allegiances and identities, such
that large numbers of the inhabitants of the European continent will not only consider themselves
to be first and foremost Europeans but will be prepared to make sacrifices for that ideal. [7]
We can assume that a common European identity should construct a parallel between the Union s
institutions and the citizens, making them feel that the economic and administrative regulations of
the Union are something that have to do with their rights and duties, with their identity. As the

Edward Snowden Research Paper
The German Intelligence Apparatus The German intelligence agencies roots go back to the days of
the Abwehr when Germany had the most sophisticated intelligence and counter intelligence agency
in the world prior to the start of WWI. Today German intelligence agencies are split into four
different agencies with some overlapping responsibilities and missions. The largest of these is the
Federal IntelligenceService (Bundesnachrichtendienst). The BDN acts as an early warning to alert
German officials of potential threats from abroad. Since it is Germany s only overseas
intelligence agency it collects on military and civilian interest. It often shares information and
works closely with the KSA, Strategic Reconnaissance Command, on those missions. Its primary
missions are to collect and analyze data on terrorists, WMD s, drug and weapon trafficking, illegal
migration and information warfare. The BDN has a $615 million Euro budget and has 6500
employees. The agency is one of the best and most effective intelligence agencies in the world....

The Stages Of Phil Runs
When PHIL runs, it has three distinct stages that the code runs through. First is the initialization
stage. This is where the code that needs to be set up first runs. The next stage is the execution
stage, which is arguably the most important stage. This is where the majority of the code executes.
Any code in the execution stage repeats until the user terminates it. The final stage is the
termination stage, which happens after the user terminates the execution stage. This is where all
tasks stop and any code which needs to complete, can do so safely. Tasks in PHIL are pieces of
code that will execute repeatedly. Tasks can be anything from the satellite propagation to the
sensors. The Lua script handles the scheduling, initializing, execution, and termination of these
tasks. Each task runs according to how the Lua script has it scheduled and the code will continue

Core Competence for Sustainable Competitive Advantage: A Structured Methodology for
Identifying Core Competence
Khalid Hafeez, YanBing Zhang, and Naila Malak
Abstract Core competencies are the crown jewels of a company and, therefore, should be carefully
nurtured and developed. Companies can determine their future business directions based on the
strengths of competencies. However, because generalized terms such as resource, asset, capability,
and competence are not clearly explained in connection with competence theory, these posing
difficulties in understanding many contemporary management concepts. In this paper, we provide a
summary of the recent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
III. CAPABILITY IS FORMED BY THE INTEGRATION OF RESOURCES Table I shows that
competitive advantage is gained by the strategic deployment of some resources, capabilities, and/or
competencies. Literature review suggests that concepts such as resources, capabilities,
competencies, and core competencies are not clearly defined. We have found that only the
resource itself is defined with a wide range of meanings. On one hand, resources are defined as
anything which could be thought of as a strength or weakness of a firm [9]. This anything may
include physical resources (e.g., raw materials, equipment, financial endowment, etc.), human
resources (e.g., training, experience, skills, etc.), as well as organizational resources (e.g., firm
image, process, routines, etc.) [4], [14]. Note that with this definition, capabilities are considered as
part of resource. On the other hand, capabilities are not part of resource because of their dynamic
doing nature. Many authors argue that capabilities are the result of resource deployment and
organizational processes. Capabilities use resources and, therefore, are more dynamic and complex
entity and should be treated independent to resources [15]. We feel more comfortable with Grant
[5] definition who argues: Resources are inputs into the

Local News Outlets And Political Participation
Local news outlets and political participation Thanks to technology, the world is more
interconnected than ever before. Even before the modern era of technological advances,
newspapers and fliers have been used to make the world as interconnected as possible. Then,
radios, tvs and ultimately computers and smartphones emerged. Anyone who wants to find an
information like where a polling place is or the names of the candidates as well as their speeches
and believes on the issues could find it in the palm of their hands. Tv shows like the Rachel
Maddow show, which airs weekdays on MSNBC and the O really Factor with Bill O really airs
on Fox News. The two anchors and democratic and republican leaning respectively so is their
respective networks. People tend to watch them for information and that affects the decision
making process for voters.
Asian American political participation in the 2008 presidential election
Race plays a role in determining if a voter is likely or not likely to vote. The 2008 presidential
election is a case study. The only thing that makes it different is the fact that it include a nominee

Jonathan Edwards And Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God
In the 1600 s the Puritans were the main religious group of that time period and they had very
strong ideals on how religion and government should go together. Jonathan Edwards, who shared
many of their ideals, preached a sermon called, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God and it had a
very big impact on the congregation. Nathaniel Hawthorne, although he was a writer in the 1800 s,
he was fascinated with the Puritans and their lifestyles and wrote a short story called, The Minister
s Black Veil. Both authors use specific details, tone, and imagery to convey their meaning and style,
Edwards harsh and accusatory style was more effective than Hawthorne s melancholy and
mysterious style because Edwards helps the reader understand the effects sincan have in one s life.
Throughout Sinners Edwards uses specific details to show God s anger towards those who have
sinned. In paragraph five of Sinners he says, dreadful pit of the glowing flames of the wrath of
God. Edwards uses strong diction here to give the congregation an idea of how angry God is
with all who have sinned. Along those same lines, Hawthorne also uses strong diction in his
details, for example pale faced congregation on page three of MBV. He uses this detail to be sure
the reader knows the effect the veil has on the townspeople and how they were frightened by his
veil. Edwards detail on the contrary was more effective because he frightened the audience whereas
Hawthorne is very dull in the moment throughout the story.
In the same way Edwards surpasses Hawthorne again in effecting the audience more in imagery.
Edwards uses frightening imagery to give the congregation and image in their minds to scare them
into repenting. In paragraph four of Sinners he declares, the devil is waiting for them, hell is
gaping for them, the flames gather and flash about them... this traumatises the audience because in
their minds they see hell with the devil waiting to devour them. This persuades them to repent and
change their ways because they do not want to burn in hell. Hawthorne on the other hand takes a
different approach in imagery. Whereas Edwards does it to help his persuasion Hawthorne does it
to help the reader get a better idea of the moral.

Changes Of Climate Change Across Earth
Hominins During the Pleistocene
What is the Pleistocene? According to Understanding Humans: Introduction to Physical
Anthropology and Archaeology, the Pleistocene, or the Ice Age, was a period 1.8 mya 10,000 ya
marked by drastic fluctuations of climate change across Earth. The Pleistocene alternated between
extreme periods of glaciations and interglacials. During glaciations, temperatures dropped
drastically. In northern continents this drop in temperature led to mass accumulations of ice,
measuring nearly a mile thick; however, these glaciers were not seen everywhere. In Africa,
glaciations led to more arid and dry climates. Interglacials, on the other hand, were periods of
warmer climate. During interglacials, climate would become ... Show more content on

During both the Early Pleistocene and the Middle Pleistocene, we see a number of hominins that
paved the way to modern human development (Boaz Ciochon, 2004). One of these hominins is
Homo erectus (Lewis et al., 2013). According to Lewis (2013) while it is probable that they first
developed developed in Africa, it also . . . seems likely that H. erectus first arose in East Africa
and then very quickly migrated to other continents ; however, it is hard to prove this hypothesis
as new fossils are found (p. 236). While H. erectus characteristics vary across continents, the
majority share the same range in body size, brains, and cranial shape. H. erectus adults had robust
bodies weighing more than 100 lbs. and measuring 5 6 tall. The range in H. erectus brain size is
700 to 1250 cm(^3). The most distinct characteristic of H. erectus is its cranial shape. The cranium
displays a thick cranial bone, large brow ridges, a pointy nuchal torus at the posterior, low forehead
development, a wide cranium base, and finally a sagittal keel (Lewis et al., 2013). According to The
First Humans, environments during the Early Pleistocene fluctuated, but they tended to be more
open and wet than the Pliocene environments before them. Thus, it was warmer. These open
grassland environments yielded bulky, herding mammals. The First Humans also suggests the
anatomy and physiology of H. erectus allowed for the endurance they needed in order to obtain

Negative Campaigning Toward a Tipping Point
Opposition research is a key part in modern campaigns, however the increase in negative
campaigning coupled with advancements in research techniques will create a more hostile

outside factors affecting them prior to being elected. The right campaign ad with fact checked

damaging the success of getting the public to be more involved in politics. Many organizations,
politically affiliated and otherwise, have been created for the purpose of getting the public to vote
on election day. These organizations strive to ensure the average person understands how important

Lastly, Plath employs the negative effect of the progression of aging over a period of time. The
poet uses connotations to show the maturity of the woman. The mirror describes the wall it reflects

girl, innocence, and sensitivity. For example, during baby showers, people colorcoordinate

The Uses Of Cloud Computing
The use of cloud computing expands the risk of insider access not only to the staff of cloud

from the denial of service attack launched by a malicious insider as demonstrated by a well
known Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud infrastructure (Sense Post: , 2009). The insider
access risk can be mitigated by deploying technical and administrative procedures that will monitor
the activities of the users with access to the cloud infrastructure. An example of such procedures

Defending Education Reform
Defining Education Reform
Beauty, we have been reminded many times, is in the eye of the beholder, and so is education
reform. Reforming anything goes far beyond improving it because reform demands fundamental
change, not mere tweaking. The challenge involved in understanding educational reform begins
with the challenge of terminology. The terms educational reform , educational change , and
educational progress are often used interchangeably, but they have distinctly different meanings and
implications. For example, the news media may refer to the recent standardized testing initaitave as
an educational reform, and educational change or as educational progress toward the goal of more
efficient and effective education (Understanding Education Reform, Pg 1). Reform implies that
something is wrong or at least could be better. Change on the other hand, simply implies that
something will be different.
What we dont know about our education system threatens what we do know. There are very
concrete reasons why reform as we ve tried has not worked. And why it wont. Ever. But there are
things we can do. To reform is literally to form/ create/ shape something again; commonly it
means to amend or improve. We need to view or ignore the system itself, it is still true that we aim
our reform effort at the part with which we are most familiar, the classroom,i.e., teacher, students,
books, methods. The need for reform comes from the diverse political system and it is directed at

Comparing Roman and Greek Art
Throughout history art has consistently reflected the cultural values and social structures of
individual civilizations. Ancient art serves as a useful tool to help historians decipher some
important aspects of ancient culture. From art we can determine the basic moral and philosophical
beliefs of many ancient societies. The differences in arts purpose in Greece and Rome, for
example, show us the fundamental differences in each culture s political and moral system. The
primary objective of Greek art was to explore the order of nature and to convey philosophical
thought, while Roman art was used primarily as a medium to project the authority and importance

The Protogeometric and Geometric periods are good examples of such advanced thinking. The
beginnings of the Protogeometric period display a distinct interest in mathematical order. During
this period, artists decorated vases with circles and symmetrical patterns. As the dominant style
changed from Protogeometric to Geometric, this order and precision was amplified. The popular
?circle and semicircle patterns were replaced by linear designs, zigzags, triangles, diamonds, and
meanders? (Cunningham, 40). The increased interest in order seems to have been a reflection of
the Greek fascination with nature, and man?s relationship to nature.
This interest in the order of nature eventually evolved into a fascination with the human form and
the idea of human perfection. The way in which the perfect human form was portrayed by Greek
artists was of a highly intellectual nature. The early sculptors of the period explored basic human
anatomy and its aesthetic value, creating such sculptures as the Kritios Boy, of the Acropolis. The
precision and realism of this sculpture captured a more accurate portrayal of the human form than
ever before seen. This accomplishment in itself showed strong advancements in intellectual
thought, and inspired future generations to further explore aesthetic and order. Artist such as
Polyclitius later envisioned human perfection as a series of mathematical proportions. The

The next investment Carnegie joined was with William Coleman in the oil business. They made a
substantial amount of money but Carnegie grew tired of the messy and chaotic state of the
business and sold out in 1865. In 1862 Carnegie joined a number of Pennsylvania Railroad
managers to start the Keystone Bridge Company. Carnegie had been convinced that the trend in
railroading was towards heavier locomotives and cars and longer trains in order to increase
productivity. This is where many of the old wooden bridges were converted into sturdier, iron and

Temperance Reform In The 19th Century
In the 19th century people did not like what the American society was turning into, so to control

that people thought they needed to change in the United States. They would do this by using
popular things like songs, plays, novels, and narratives. Reformers wanted their information to

were effective one that was very successful was the temperance reform. The 19th centurywas when
people would drink large amounts of alcohol, especially men, which is why the temperance
reform was put in place. On average, Americans drank about seven gallons of hard alcohol,
including whiskey and other distilled spirits. These people did not think that drinking was

and they had their welfare almost constantly in mind. His parents were also, in many subtle and

During the early years of his theory, it was known as nondirective. Later, his theory was termed

core purpose of the person centered approach is to actualize tendency (facilitate the personal

simply fixing a few things (e.g. better scheduling) is typically not enough. In this case, we must deal
with the lack of capacity by addressing the bottleneck. One important question: What resource
should be the bottleneck? Typically, this will be the resource that is the most expensive (e.g.
automated cutting machine), most difficult to acquire (e.g. comes in large chucks, has long lead
times), most highly trained (e.g. brain surgeons), etc. For Quinte, this is clearly the MRI machine
itself. Given the MRI should be the bottleneck; the other resources must have protective capacity.
This means adding enough of everything with cycle times longer than the MRI machine for sure an
extra MR technician. The role of non bottlenecks is to protect the ability of the bottleneck to
operate at full utilization. However, in this situation, there is also a complicating requirement for
quick response under highly variable conditions. This means that we want the MRI machine to

College In The Modern Age. Throughout The First Unit We
College in The Modern Age
Throughout the first unit we have explored the reasons as to why college may not be the best fit
for some. I believe that, like a majority of children, I was raised on the basis that a college degree
was needed to be successful. Many may think of higher education as a giant Ponzi scheme, where
students are lured into the promise of receiving high paying jobs due to the fact they attended
University. Today I realize that a college degree isn t a guarantee that you ll be successful rather it
is a way to gain the edge against peers. In this paper, I am going to further evaluate why college
was the best fit for me, and how I came to that conclusion.
Foremost, obtaining an undergraduate degree was presented to me by ... Show more content on

I believe that we need someone to step in and provide the training that is required to high school
counselors on other options besides college. Fortunately, enough I attended a high school where
the counselors were trained on giving students other options besides college. A close friend who
knew college wasn t the right option for him was given information about different apprenticeships
he could apply for after college. He is currently a welder and thinks that he has made one of the
greatest decisions of his life.
Moreover, While I was in high school preparing to apply for college, I would often see some of
my fellow peers struggling to figure out how they would fit the bill for University. As I first began
to apply to the big name universities I was noticing the very steep prices, with little financial aid
help. I knew I could obtain various scholarships, however that isn t the case for most students. Mike
Rowe stated that There is a trillion dollars in debt on the student loan side. That is over five
hundred times the rate of inflation it beats healthcare by over two hundred and fifty trillion dollars.
I think that student loans are single handedly the biggest opposition to many students attending
University. In my personal opinion, many students choose to follow the things that they are
passionate about, but

The Beginning Of Red Badge Of Courage By Stephen Crane
In the beginning of Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane, Henry Fleming or the youthful
private is a farm boy who has left the farm against his mother s best wishes to enlist in the Union
army. The novella begins after Henry has enlisted and joined with the 304th New York regiment
encamped across a river in Virginia from the enemy. The date is May 1863, two years after the
Civil Warhas already begun, and the scene is set for the upcoming Battle of Chancellorsville.
Through the course of the weeks leading to Henry s first battle, Henry is brought to question his
beliefs and learn his place within his own regiment. Through the use of naturalism, irony, and the
literary point of view, Crane grants the reader a look into the harsh realism... Show more content on

While Henry contemplates, the narrator illustrates Henry s struggle as Henry tries, to
mathematically prove to himself that he would not run from a battle [...] [, however,] [i]t had
suddenly appeared to him that perhaps in a battle he might run, (4) showcasing how when
compared to his previously held notions about war, the irony of Henry s newfound cowardice and
lack of bravery is clear. Similarly, Henry is naГЇve to his true part in the war and the uncontrollable
forces controlling his life. Through the use of naturalism, the pessimistic version of realism that
asserts that most individuals are without freedom that they are at the mercy of larger forces, like
economics, war, the government, heredity, environment, and nature, Crane shows the reader how
small and insignificant Henry is in the grand scheme of things. As Dr. Ball states, you join the
military and lose your freedom, it seems, exemplifying Henry s current predicament (Ball).
Henry, although having hopes of becoming a hero, is as his mother says, jest one little feller
amongst a hull lot of others, (3) revealing the reality and irony of his current situation, he is not a
hero able to achieve glory in battle. As the narrator points out Henry, had grown to regard himself
merely as a part of a vast blue demonstration, (4) demonstrating how his situation changes Henry s
ability to gain glory and fame in battle. However, soon after the first attack of the

John Lewis Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC
John Lewis was one of the most notably influential leaders of the Student Nonviolent
Coordinating Committee, SNCC. SNCC was founded in the 1960s in Releigh, North Carolina
and initially consisted of black students as its members (Murphree 2006:11). The first members
of this organization made use of nonviolent ways of protests such as sitting in and occupation of
certain public places. The organization was successful in making other people aware of the
injustices that black people were usually exposed to. Moreover, SNCC supported more nonviolent
protests such as the Freedom Rides in 1961 and the March on Washington in 1963 which paved
the way for the amendment of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. John Lewis was born on February 21,

member of the House of Representatives. In 2006 and 2009, together with 6 other lawmakers,
Lewis was arrested outside the Sudan embassy for holding a protest against the genocide

Religious Beliefs In Judaism
Judaism Beliefs Sacred Symbols
Beliefs
Judaism is one of the most traditional religions there are. It is under the Monotheistic religions,
meaning they are in the belief that there is a single G d, unlike other religions that believe in
multiple G ds. As well as Judaism, Christianity and Islam practise the monotheistic form.
There are many other things that the people of the Judaism religion believe in. Some of these
include; Prayer is to be directed to G d alone and to no other, the words of the prophets are true,
Moses prophecies are true, and Moses was the greatest of the prophets, The Written Torah (first
5 books of the Bible) and Oral Torah (teachings now contained in the Talmud and other writings)
were given to Moses, there will be no other Torah, G d knows the thoughts and deeds of men, G
d will reward the good and punish the bad, the Messiah will come and also the dead will be
resurrected. While Judaism isn t the strictest of religions, they do still follow quite a strong list of
beliefs and regulations.
The history behind the different beliefs that Jewish people have, and follow, all revolves around
the scriptures written in their holy book , the Torah. Some of the different beliefs that the Jewish
people have around G d, is that some of the Jewish people believe G d is an external force, that is
someone that exists outside of the universe who listens to prayers, and controls lives, creates
miracles, and judges. They however aren t in the belief that that

It Should Be Mandatory that All Security Guards Be Armed...
Other than police officers there are now security guards at just about every corner figuratively
speaking. Security guards spend their time guarding buildings and garages around the clock, day
and night. Most of these guards are assigned to work cites alone where there is no other
employees or supervisors present. When security guards are thought of one of the most popular
thing that comes to most peoples mind is they are rental cops. Private security faces many
possible dangers and they can become part of a violent situation at any given moment. . Without

That unarmed guard would not be able to stop the robber from putting a bullet through the bank
employees or the bank costumers, nor would the guard be able to stop him from robbing the
place. On the other hand if that guard who was standing in the corner would have been armed it
would be a lot more intimidating. The sight of the fire arm on the guards waist may make the
criminal think twice. If at that point the criminal would over look the guard and proceed to rob
the place, the guard could then put the skills he learned through his training to use. He/she could
possible stop the criminal before any harm came to anyone. Another example of dangerous
location guards have to patrol is parking garage. In Dayton Ohio most big garages have private
security guarding the places throughout the night when it is suppose to be empty. Guards are

article about a female guard. She was working in a Dayton Ohio parking garage next to city hall

LD50 or the lethal dose of 50%, is the amount of a chemical which kills 50% of the population of

IC50 is an index of the toxicity of a substance defined as the concentration of that chemical which
have inhibitory effects on the growth of the 50% of the test population. HeLa cell used in this
study is an immortal cell line, which is the oldest yet most commonly used human cell line for

The Effects of Colonization on Various African Countries...
In trying to analyze the link between colonial rule and nationalist rule, one cannot discount the
influence of the past on the present. Analyzing nationalist actions and decisions without taking into
account how society got to that point, and the situation of society when power was transferred
would be asinine. The effects of colonization on various African countries through border setting
and defining ethnic groups, the morphing of ethnic group disputes into class based struggles, and
the stunting of economies through failure to diversify national economies is intrinsically linked to
the paths followed by leadership after attaining independence. Previous to colonial rule, African
governance took place at the local level. Political power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faced with the prospect of living in an internment or rehabilitation camp, they decided to voice their
displeasure through an armed uprising. During the struggle for independence, the natives had a
common cause of ridding themselves of colonial rule. Many were able to look past the divisions
that had taken hold in their communities and band together for a common cause. Once
independence was achieved, however, there was far from a consensus on how to proceed in ruling
their countries. Prior to colonization in Nigeria, ethnic divisions had already begun to give way to
class divisions. While colonial rule obviously did not introduce these divisions, it did exacerbate
them in order to be used for a political agenda. The Northern part of the country had already begun
entrenching itself as the merchant class at the expense of the Southern citizens. (Badru, 81 82).
Throughout colonial rule, this was reinforced and this allowed the Northerners to maintain political
control and further their accumulation of wealth. Once independence was achieved, the North was
able to solidify their stranglehold over the South in writing through their constitution. As Bardu puts

Comparison Of The Hundred Year s War Between England And...
There are many events that took place between England and France that built up to what is known
as the Hundred Year s War. William of Normandy s conquest of the duchy of Aquitaine allowed
England to have claim over lands in France. This increased tension between the English king,
Edward III, and the French king, Phillip VI, that would inevitably create a war that lasted one
hundred and sixteen years (Fiero 175).
King Edward III maintained that he held claim to the French throne. When Edward III was only
fifteen years old, Charles IV of France died without a male heir. This left the succession of the
French throne to Edward III through his mother Isabella, sister to Charles IV and daughter of
Phillip VI. Edward III s claim on the French

Development and Training Paper Training and development programs are introduced to
organizations to improve the knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees. In addition,

motivation. Reasons for training range from new hire training about your operation to introducing a

If the training material is boring and dry more then likely your employees are not going to be
engaged and will walk away from the training session dazed and confused. Banking industries use
many different kinds of training. The most effective training is the training that is outsourced. This
gives the employee someone else s view on the subject compared to your supervisor who you see on
a daily basis. The banking industry has discovered that when they outsource their training programs
they receive a bigger response from the employees. The overall benefits are much higher then any
other type of training. People learn by doing, nobody learns much by listening or reading only. So
lecture training is not welcomed. The most commonly used method for transferring information in
education today is the lecture. Lecturing is all about the presenter and not the student. The banking
industry has found that when training is presented in a form of a lecture many people seem to nod
off or doodle on their notepad instead of listening. This is a waste of time and money. Interaction is
the key. Types of interaction include employee to employee interaction, employee to supervisor
interactions, and supervisor to supervisor interaction. The more interaction there is in the
organization, the better the learning. When employees interact with each other they are forced to
use the information, moving the information into their long term memory, and retaining it for

The Basics Of Synchronous And Asynchronous Circuits
ABSTRACT The aim of the presented report is to understand the basics of synchronous and
asynchronous circuits. The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their
differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits
are discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the
beginning of the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained.
Further, the sequential machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences
and variations. In the end, the differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also,
the term paper is summed with a conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits
wherever the signal should be one in every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit.
Every level is taken into account jointly of 2 completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1,
true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits, digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or
degradation in quality, additionally the errors are detected and corrected simply with the
assistance of digital signals. EDA ELECTRONIC style AUTOMATION tools (a style of package
that improves or enhance the logic in digital circuit) is employed by the engineer to automatize the

The Importance Of Student Athletes In High School Sports
When I participated in high school interviews last year, the interviewer always wanted to know
which sports I played. The school interviewer knew I was a student at Hillside; a boarding school
in Marlborough that housed male students from grades 5 9. Hillside is one of the well known
middle school boarding institutions in New England and is known for having one of the best
athletics programs in Massachusetts. Every time I was asked, I d just shrug it off and tell them
the truth: I m not a real student athlete... Unless you count skiing and sailing as athletic activities.
Like all the student athletes, I was in a demographic of kids who worked their hardest to succeed
in both academics and athletics. During my time at Hillside, I went through all the hardships that
the serious athletes went through by trying to balance the two subjects. Some kids blamed their
grades on teachers that did not explain concepts well. Others turned to the lack of study material
for answers. The only thing that we all agreed on, as a community, was that pushing the start and
end times back an hour was the worst decision that an athletically focused school like ours could
make. Since many private schools already have very tight schedules, the athletes in these schools

  • 2. This Essay Will Mostly Outline A Proposed Solution To The This essay will mostly outline a proposed solution to the never ending worldwide problem of nuclear weapons. The paper will use of relevant sources, with logic, and a humanitarian appeal to show the reader why nuclear weapons must come to end. It will show the reader how the solution will work and why it s the very best solution to put a halt on the worldwide epidemic we are faced with each and every day within various countries. The paper will also give the reader a sense of urgency to go out and try and make a difference, so we can make this change described. They get this sense of urgency because the essay illustrates a proposal that is simple, logical, and sound. Also, the paper will show how this solution is the very best, and all... Which is precisely the problem; innocent citizens get killed and evaporated because another country s military used the lethal weapon of nuclear power to gain an edge on an enemy. Which, one can go on to find out, will create ever more problems than it actually intended to solve. Now that we can see, as nations, the underlying problem with nuclear weapons, what can we do to ensure this problem doesn t persist? There are many possibilities, but really only one solution. To understand how a nuclear ban or abolition could actually happen, one must understand that it would virtually take a unanimous vote. All the countries would have to agree on banning weapons so that it would ensure fully that no nuclear weapons would be usable. So what possibly could be a solution? Well, firstly it s not rocket science; just following governmental procedures, and knowing how a bill becomes a law, it s quite simple. First, a convention must be held with every country, and then an official document, most presumably a treaty, must be signed into law stating the worldwide disarmament of nuclear weaponry. This is just a constitutional process, and has great potential to be successful, but if this is not convincing enough, try taking Tom Sauer s word on it. Sauer (2016), an Associate Professor at the Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium), says first a Nuclear Weapons ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Deakin Fusion Essay Deakin took over as Prime Minister, leading a Protectionist government, on 24 September 1903 when Barton quit politics to become a judge of the newly instituted High Court. Deakin retained government at the second general election on 16 December 1903 but had to rely on Labor support. He held power for another four months, until 27 April 1904, when his government was defeated in parliament over a Labor amendment to the Conciliation and Arbitration Bill. Deakin resigned the prime ministership, which then went to Labor s leader, John Christian Watson. Deakin became Prime Minister for the second time on 5 July 1905 when George Houston Reid resigned. On 2 June 1909 the Fusion defeated Fisher s Labor government in parliament. Deakin was commissioned to form his third government, and Cook became his deputy. Deakin s Fusion government was defeated at the general election on 13 April 1910. Deakin s total period in office amounted to four years and ten months, the longest time served by any of the six Prime Ministers to 1915. Despite relatively short and discontinuous periods in office, his governments were responsible for much policy and legislation giving shape to the Commonwealth during its first decade. Among the achievements during Deakin s periods as Prime Minister were: 1904: the first national defence scheme. 1906: the assumption of responsibility for the territory of Papua; establishment of the Bureau of Census and Statistics; Australian Industries Protection Act (linking tariffs with wages, forcing companies to pay fair ... • 4. Ambition By Gary Soto Summary Gary Soto, who among many things was a Mexican American poet, many times wrote about what he knew best: his life. Growing up as a Chicano in America in the 50s and 60s, Soto worked in fields as a laborer from a young age. It is evident that coming from a Hispanic working class family greatly influenced his poem Ambition . As he is known for, Soto s poem is filled with imagery of everyday life, while harping on important details and themes of things that he may have seen around him., but in this instance, there was a bit of confusion. To begin with, the poem Ambition starts off with the line For years our ambition was to eat/Chicken (1 2). Without further analysis, at this point the reader is most likely confused, much like I was. Chicken? How could eating be one s goal, one s aspiration in life? The word ambition is usually associated with lofty goals. It would not seem out of place to say that one s ambition was to become a doctor or to make a better life for oneself. So the speaker in the poem could not truly believe that all that he wanted in life was to eat chicken. The outlandishness of this statement seems to be the speaker pointing huge arrows towards places in the poem that invoke deeper meaning to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cats are said to have nine lives, to have multiple, or one might say an abundance of chances to get things right or to live. The actual cats came looking for food and in the last line of the poem it says the cats can to us for/The love of chicken, but love all the same. (40 41). If the members of this story are the cats, the speaker seems to be saying that, as I paraphrased in my pre write, that although seemingly shallow, the love of something superficial like food or chicken was validated because it was still love. Although superficial, the love of food translates to a love of a nessesity for life which is an accpetable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mac Ride is a unique, front mounted, child seat for mountain bicycles. This report begins by analyzing the child bike seat industry. Subsequently, RMI s current strategy, potential markets and competitors across various geographical locations are investigated in detail. Based on this analysis, different strategies are analyzed before a final recommendation is suggested. The report also includes an implementation guide for the recommended strategy as well as a description of the finance required to execute the strategy and expected results of the strategy execution. 1.1Company ... Additionally, parents benefit by having the opportunity to have a real conversation with his/her child without distractions or having to continually look back. Mac Ride facilitates a closer connection between parents and children in their bicycle riding experience. Mac Ride seats are easy to set up and suitable for off road riding, and, therefore, support an active, engaged experience for children. Once the Mac Ride seat is removed, the only thing left on the bike is a small spacer ring which blends into the bicycle design and may go completely unnoticed. Easy removal and installation also allows parents to exchange the Mac Ride child seat quickly so parents may take turns exploring and sharing their bicycling adventure with their child. There do exist conventional front mounted bicycle children s seats. However, they have limited space and children quickly outgrow the plastic seats which are usually clunky, aesthetically unpleasing, and difficult to maintain. However, Mac Ride has extendable legs and a movable seat, allowing children to use the seat for a longer duration than other conventional front mounted seats. Depending on the size of the bike and height of the rider, children as old as 6 can easily use and have fun with Mac Ride. Furthermore, other front mounted child carriers often force the ... • 6. Margaret Cavendish s Use Of Imagery To hunt or be hunted Imagery of the hunt traces back to Francesco Petrarch s sonnets, and perhaps further. This imagery has been predominantly used by male writers, and consequently the trope is framed through the male voice. It generally features a male lover in the position of the huntsman, and his female object of desire in the position of the hunted, often represented as a deer or a bird. As a result, the metaphor of the hunt is often romanticized and huntsmans are disarmed and portrayed as lovers. Margaret Cavendish responds to this trope with her poem The Hunting of the Hare, in which she provides a much different understanding of the interaction by writing from the point of view of the hunted. Cavendish flips the narrative to expose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Beginning with sympathy: Cavendish sets up the hunted, rather than the huntsmen, as the object of sympathy. In order to do so, she first personifies the hare. She gives him a name: Wat, which already humanizes the creature and directs the reader s sympathy towards the hare rather than the huntsmen, who have yet to be introduced. The hare is also depicted using his forefeet [to rub] his face from dust, and sweat (40), an action similar to a person using their hands to wipe their face. Furthermore, Cavendish describes the hare s weeping eyes (81), and since most animals cannot weep it further personifies the hare by ascribing to him a human expression of deep emotion. In personifying the hare, Cavendish diminishes the distance between the creature and her readers, making it easier to relate to and sympathize with the hare. Secondly, Cavendish sets Wat up to be an intelligent and rational creature. She opens the poem by presenting him lying in a calculated and well thought out position to stay warm and fend off the wind. She further claims that he is wise (7), and references His thoughts (24). Lastly, Wat s intelligence is exemplified by his clever use of a strategy: he decides to try Winding about, for to deceive [the dog s] scent (36). By establishing that the hare is a thinking being, Cavendish elevates him to somewhere between man and the beast. In doing so, she allows her readers to relate to him better, and it helps demonize the hunters who do not treat him as a thinking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Julian s Trial What Happened: Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is accused of killing Carlos Rivera because her prints are on Julian s murder weapon, A.K.A. the dagger Helena used to murder Alexis mother (6/17). Julian (William Devry) wants her to stand trial, promising to get her off (6/20). Alexis teams up with the PCPD and wears a wire, hoping to coax a confession out of him in the homicides of Duke Lavery, Rivera and a court witness (7/6). Julian finds the wire, takes her to the docks and nearly slits her throat before Sonny rescues her and she s able to stab him (7/8). My Commentary: The downward spiral of JuLexis was exciting, entertaining and fascinating, and anytime Grahn is given sordid material it s a good day because she slays it, but it was also another example of detrimental short term writing. • 8. Side Effects Of American Imperialism Imperialism is described in the American history as a the quest for colonial empires . This was something new for the newly developed country, the request for more natural resources was at its peak, with countries like Britain, Germany who have practised imperialism and has succeeded in expanding its power and influence the United State was more than eager to get into this river that seems to cough out silver and gold. At first, most American viewed this as a positive expansion because it will help spread American way of life such as democracy. However this idea was not fully explored by the Americans, they headed into a battlefield with weapons and crafty strategy but without knowledge of what the war is about and a possible side effect on not just the U.S. Do Americans in today s worldview imperialism as a positive idea or negative?. Imperialism is viewed by many an immoral act even if its initial reason was thoughtful, suppression of the American way of life and the after effect is a stain on the nation that way never be wiped out. American must begin to look outward. the growing production of the country demands it.... U.S Navy Officer Alfred T. Mahan perfectly describes the main reason why the American decided to tryout imperialism. with the booming economy of the second industrial age, U.S was running out of almost everything except the increment of a worker from the immigrating groups. Rev Strong called it survival to the fittest now this claim is beyond unnecessary and thoughtless survival to the fittest is something occurs only in the lower animal kingdom, and survival to the fittest mostly is over food not recourse like oil. Americans in today s world that understand the definition of democracy will view this act of expansion an immoral under the declaration of independence you cannot govern a foreign territory, a foreign people, other people than your own...you can not govern them U.S Senator George F. Hoar. Now, let s ask us why the revolutionary war was fought, the British former colony now known as the United States of America was against the imperialism, they did not want to be ruled by people who can not attend to the needs, they didn t wish to follow the constitution of parliament ... He tells the story in a poem in a sequential order from being in the hospital, being in the car with her dead body and finally in the cemetery burying her. In the hospital we can see that he remembers that the nurse could only speak in Italian. We also see that, he kind of knew that his mom was going to die because he says that there is only a week left of her existence. By thinking about all this Robert Lowell starts to tear and I guess does cry. When he gets his mother s casket in the car he gets very descriptive by saying, the whole shoreline of the ... Their priorities are to look good and be liked, and this contributes to their misguided paths to reach success. This attribute is one of many societal criticisms pointed out by both authors. • 13. The Characteristics Of Self-Government In Colonial America From the earliest starting point the English pioneers appreciated a more substantial level of self government then the other European pilgrims. As more explorers migrated to the colonies and rooted their lives in colonial America, they began to feel isolated from the world they knew. Consequently, this isolation from the English rule marked a very difficult start to a new beginning and necessitated a gradual transition from the English culture to the American culture. Moreover, with this new American culture, the newcomers throughout the colonies began to think differently than their English cousins. Having the Atlantic Ocean operate as a buffer from English influence, the primitive societies began to assimilate and vote on their ideas of freedoms, rights and tolerances, and put them into legal documents. Accordingly, this display of democratic character was the beginning deviation from England s monarchic ways that set the New World on the path to a Democratic Society. Having the habit of self governmentfrom the very beginning, the colonist readily accepted the New American culture with concepts such as Majority rule , All Men are Created Equal , and Religious Tolerance . For many, those wars meant the beginning of the end of the European civilization. Others, a minority, drew from that the conclusion that the European capability to overcome aggressive nationalism which caused those tragedies, is achievable by adopting the idea of the united and peaceful continent as a common project.[6] That inspiration was to be insured by a share of common, European distinctiveness. However, this process implies the necessity to consider the impact of nationalism and the role of national states in a growing trend for a united Europe. As Anthony D. • 18. The Stages Of Phil Runs When PHIL runs, it has three distinct stages that the code runs through. First is the initialization stage. This is where the code that needs to be set up first runs. The next stage is the execution stage, which is arguably the most important stage. This is where the majority of the code executes. Any code in the execution stage repeats until the user terminates it. The final stage is the termination stage, which happens after the user terminates the execution stage. This is where all tasks stop and any code which needs to complete, can do so safely. Tasks in PHIL are pieces of code that will execute repeatedly. Tasks can be anything from the satellite propagation to the sensors. The Lua script handles the scheduling, initializing, execution, and termination of these tasks. Each task runs according to how the Lua script has it scheduled and the code will continue to run until the user gives the command to terminate the task. Figure 2 shows the architecture of PHIL. This portion of the reboot focuses on the simulation side and not the flight software side. As these tasks run, they may have data that other tasks require to successfully run. A way of handling this transfer of data from one task to another is to adopt a Publish and Subscribe System. This system allows for the transferring of variables without getting in the way of the scheduler and makes sure that all tasks receive the same data for that given moment of time. CAPABILITY IS FORMED BY THE INTEGRATION OF RESOURCES Table I shows that competitive advantage is gained by the strategic deployment of some resources, capabilities, and/or competencies. Literature review suggests that concepts such as resources, capabilities, competencies, and core competencies are not clearly defined. We have found that only the resource itself is defined with a wide range of meanings. On one hand, resources are defined as anything which could be thought of as a strength or weakness of a firm [9]. This anything may include physical resources (e.g., raw materials, equipment, financial endowment, etc.), human resources (e.g., training, experience, skills, etc.), as well as organizational resources (e.g., firm image, process, routines, etc.) [4], [14]. Note that with this definition, capabilities are considered as part of resource. On the other hand, capabilities are not part of resource because of their dynamic doing nature. Many authors argue that capabilities are the result of resource deployment and organizational processes. Capabilities use resources and, therefore, are more dynamic and complex entity and should be treated independent to resources [15]. • 22. Jonathan Edwards And Sinners In The Hands Of An Angry God In the 1600 s the Puritans were the main religious group of that time period and they had very strong ideals on how religion and government should go together. Jonathan Edwards, who shared many of their ideals, preached a sermon called, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God and it had a very big impact on the congregation. Nathaniel Hawthorne, although he was a writer in the 1800 s, he was fascinated with the Puritans and their lifestyles and wrote a short story called, The Minister s Black Veil. Both authors use specific details, tone, and imagery to convey their meaning and style, Edwards harsh and accusatory style was more effective than Hawthorne s melancholy and mysterious style because Edwards helps the reader understand the effects sincan have in one s life. Throughout Sinners Edwards uses specific details to show God s anger towards those who have sinned. In paragraph five of Sinners he says, dreadful pit of the glowing flames of the wrath of God. Edwards uses strong diction here to give the congregation an idea of how angry God is with all who have sinned. Along those same lines, Hawthorne also uses strong diction in his details, for example pale faced congregation on page three of MBV. He uses this detail to be sure the reader knows the effect the veil has on the townspeople and how they were frightened by his veil. Edwards detail on the contrary was more effective because he frightened the audience whereas Hawthorne is very dull in the moment throughout the story. In the same way Edwards surpasses Hawthorne again in effecting the audience more in imagery. Edwards uses frightening imagery to give the congregation and image in their minds to scare them into repenting. In paragraph four of Sinners he declares, the devil is waiting for them, hell is gaping for them, the flames gather and flash about them... this traumatises the audience because in their minds they see hell with the devil waiting to devour them. This persuades them to repent and change their ways because they do not want to burn in hell. Hawthorne on the other hand takes a different approach in imagery. Whereas Edwards does it to help his persuasion Hawthorne does it to help the reader get a better idea of the moral. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Defending Education Reform Defining Education Reform Beauty, we have been reminded many times, is in the eye of the beholder, and so is education reform. Reforming anything goes far beyond improving it because reform demands fundamental change, not mere tweaking. The challenge involved in understanding educational reform begins with the challenge of terminology. The terms educational reform , educational change , and educational progress are often used interchangeably, but they have distinctly different meanings and implications. For example, the news media may refer to the recent standardized testing initaitave as an educational reform, and educational change or as educational progress toward the goal of more efficient and effective education (Understanding Education Reform, Pg 1). Reform implies that something is wrong or at least could be better. Change on the other hand, simply implies that something will be different. What we dont know about our education system threatens what we do know. There are very concrete reasons why reform as we ve tried has not worked. And why it wont. Ever. But there are things we can do. To reform is literally to form/ create/ shape something again; commonly it means to amend or improve. We need to view or ignore the system itself, it is still true that we aim our reform effort at the part with which we are most familiar, the classroom,i.e., teacher, students, books, methods. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Protogeometric and Geometric periods are good examples of such advanced thinking. The beginnings of the Protogeometric period display a distinct interest in mathematical order. During this period, artists decorated vases with circles and symmetrical patterns. As the dominant style changed from Protogeometric to Geometric, this order and precision was amplified. The popular ?circle and semicircle patterns were replaced by linear designs, zigzags, triangles, diamonds, and meanders? (Cunningham, 40). The increased interest in order seems to have been a reflection of the Greek fascination with nature, and man?s relationship to nature. This interest in the order of nature eventually evolved into a fascination with the human form and the idea of human perfection. The way in which the perfect human form was portrayed by Greek artists was of a highly intellectual nature. The early sculptors of the period explored basic human anatomy and its aesthetic value, creating such sculptures as the Kritios Boy, of the Acropolis. The precision and realism of this sculpture captured a more accurate portrayal of the human form than ever before seen. This accomplishment in itself showed strong advancements in intellectual thought, and inspired future generations to further explore aesthetic and order. The banking industry has found that when training is presented in a form of a lecture many people seem to nod off or doodle on their notepad instead of listening. This is a waste of time and money. Interaction is the key. Types of interaction include employee to employee interaction, employee to supervisor interactions, and supervisor to supervisor interaction. The more interaction there is in the organization, the better the learning. When employees interact with each other they are forced to use the information, moving the information into their long term memory, and retaining it for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The term paper is about synchronous and asynchronous circuits and their differences. The advantages and disadvantages of both synchronous and asynchronous circuits are discussed further. Digital circuits and sequential circuits are also described in brief at the beginning of the report. The clock gating, self clock gating and clock signals are explained. Further, the sequential machines moore and mealy are discussed along with their differences and variations. In the end, the differences between the two types of circuits are highlighted. Also, the term paper is summed with a conclusion in the end. What are digital circuits? Those circuits wherever the signal should be one in every of 2 distinct levels is referred to as digital circuit. Every level is taken into account jointly of 2 completely different states. Example on/off, 0/1, true/false etc. In comparison to analog circuits, digital circuits are less susceptible to noise or degradation in quality, additionally the errors are detected and corrected simply with the assistance of digital signals. • 53. The Importance Of Student Athletes In High School Sports When I participated in high school interviews last year, the interviewer always wanted to know which sports I played. The school interviewer knew I was a student at Hillside; a boarding school in Marlborough that housed male students from grades 5 9. Hillside is one of the well known middle school boarding institutions in New England and is known for having one of the best athletics programs in Massachusetts. Every time I was asked, I d just shrug it off and tell them the truth: I m not a real student athlete... Unless you count skiing and sailing as athletic activities. Like all the student athletes, I was in a demographic of kids who worked their hardest to succeed in both academics and athletics. During my time at Hillside, I went through all the hardships that the serious athletes went through by trying to balance the two subjects. Some kids blamed their grades on teachers that did not explain concepts well. Others turned to the lack of study material for answers. The only thing that we all agreed on, as a community, was that pushing the start and end times back an hour was the worst decision that an athletically focused school like ours could make. Since many private schools already have very tight schedules, the athletes in these schools get the short end of the stick more often than not in the event of a new and improved school schedule. We prepared for our day and woke up at 6:40 A.M. with classes beginning at 7:30 A.M. sharp. If we didn t play a team sport, our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
