Japan Population Growth Declining Birth Rate and the Problems
a) Study a country on how and why its population has aged rapidly during the last 40 or 50 years,
and analyze its consequences.
Japan s graying population: The reasons behind it, steps taken to curb it and the implications of an
aging society
Introduction
Japan has seen rapid development from the times of Meiji Restoration (1868) up till today. In fact,
it has grown more rapidly than any other countries from 1870 to 1994 (Nafziger,1995) because of
the various economic policies its government had undertaken after the war ended. Thus, as a result
of this economic growth, standard of living has gone up and along with technological
advancements, Japan enjoys one of the highest life expectancy compared to any other countries in
the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another reason is the economic recession. The economy was bad for Japan throughout the
1990s. The unemployment rate rose sharply from 2% in 1990 to 5% in 2003(Suzuki, 2006).
Youth was not given an opportunity to work and those who did obtain a stable job decreased
from 77.8% in 1988 to 55.8% in 2004 and that those who obtained no job or a temporary job went
up from 9.4% to 24.6% during the same period. The proportion proceeding to higher education
increased from 6.5% to 11.8% meaning that starting a family will be delayed. .
Suzuki also mentioned that the low income of young men relative to their fathers discouraged
marriage. Previously, the income of men in their 30s were more than that of their fathers and
motivated women to marry them. Current trends, however, indicated that the relative income of
young men to old men has declined substantially and young men are less appealing as marriage
partners than before.
Problems with an aging society
One of the issues with an ageing society is that the dependency ratio of the country will increase.
Dependency ratio refers to the number of persons under age 15 plus persons aged 65 or older per
one hundred persons 15 to 64. It is the sum of the youth dependency ratio and the old age
dependency ratio. This means that as the society ages, more young people are tasked

My Adventure Experience
All of my life, I loved exploring and finding beautiful places. I loved climbing that mountain,
getting to the top of that building, climbing that jungle gym. It was fun for me. I have had many
fun experiences doing this, and this story I wish to tell you is one of the most interesting, because I
have the most fun exploring the unknown.
During the summer, I went to a nearby park called Prophetstown. It s a park with a recreated
farm from the times of William Henry Harrison and Tecumseh. During my exploring, I came
across a fence behind a forest. I managed to squeeze through it, and found a very large hole,
around 100 wide, 30 feet deep, and at least a quarter mile in length. I slid down . After that I
threw rocks at the 30 foot cliff, which made some of the rocks in it fall down. I did this until
there was a noticeable pile of pebbles surrounding me. I decided to go explore further into the
pit, where I found more piles of gravel, as well as bulldozers and shovels. Eventually I found an
opening that led to a swamp. The mud near the water made your feet sink into it, and the rest of
the land was covered in hard bamboo like plants, making me forced to step through the wet and
slimy mud. After some time, A dock came into view, and I stepped on, my once new shoes
covered in mud. The dock had a canoe attached to it, full of emergency supplies such as a flare
gun, food, and water. It didn t make much sense to me because the swamp was very small. A
couple of feet from the canoe, I

Data Communication
DATA COMMUNICATION
Advancements in the information technology sector have brought many benefits to the people all
around the world. Today with computer networking, we can chat, speak and see each other over a
long distance. Data communication refers to the transmission of the digital signals over a
communication channel between the transmitter and receiver computers. Communication is
possible only with wired and wireless connectivity of the computers with each other.
All the computers, in the logically and physically networks have to follow the same rules known
as Protocols such as TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and NETBEUI etc. Today, there are many computer
networking technologies such as LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN, ISDN, ATM, Frame Relay, X.25,
Bluetooth, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well known communications protocols are Ethernet, a hardware and Link standard that is
ubiquitous in local area networks, and the Internet Protocol Suite, which defines a set of protocols
for internetworking, i.e. for data communication between multiple networks, as well as host to host
data transfer, and application specific data transmission formats.
Computer networking is sometimes considered a sub discipline of electrical engineering,
telecommunications, computer science, information technology or computer engineering, since it
relies upon the theoretical and practical application of these disciplines.
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet
protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that
consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to
global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking
technologies. The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services, such as the
inter linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support
electronic mail.
Most traditional communications media including telephone, music, film, and television are
reshaped or redefined by the Internet, giving birth to new services such as Voice over Internet
Protocol (VoIP) and IPTV. Newspaper, book and other print publishing are adapting

The Cultural History Behind Racial Science
Race is a fictional notion fashioned by debunked scientists in order to justify their cruelties and
enhance their perceived superiority. Just as religion was once used to justify the horrors of the
Crusades (Lindqvist, pg. 161), science would be the means to pardon the brutalities of imperialism,
manifest destiny, and the white man s burden. Constrained by binary thinking, Western thought
pinned the illusory civilized against the primitive using metaphors attached to scientific reasoning
(Stepan, pg. 362). Because of Africans supposed likeness to apes, they were not fully human; skull
measurements, despite being inaccurate, were used to rank the races of Mongoloid, Negro, and
Caucasian (Gould, pg. 103). Through some omissions and statistical finagling, Caucasians wound
up with the highest cranial capacities. Consequently, small and ape like became synonyms for
inferior and stupid. In this paper, I will draw upon our class readings to explicate the cultural
history behind racial science, and how science artificially constructed raceby ignoring outliers and
probing for racial differences.
Science was born deeply intertwined within the Western cultural realm. It developed snuggly with
ideas of European grandeur through the grace and favor of Almighty God (Lindqvist, pg.11). The
cultural conditioning these [scientists] had absorbed early in their careers influenced more than
their writing: it skewed their research (Freedman). Coinciding with scientific inquiries of

Christianity In Religion
Christianity as a Religion of the Status Quo
Matthew Fields
REL 1300
Professor Andrew McKee
5 July 2015
1440 Word Count A religion of the status quo can be defined as a religion that disseminates a
characteristic ideology through all segments of society, propounding a set of fundamental values
and principles that, while expressed in terms of lofty abstraction or eternal truth...serves to further
the interests of those who hold power... (Lincoln 79). In layman s terms, a status quo religion is used
by those in a seat of power within a society as a tool to maintain and propagate power. The best
existing example of a religion of the status quo is Christianity. Christianity is the world s primary
religion, with the latest Pew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With its fluidity and ever magnifying physical presence, Christianity has spread with the powers
of the world. Speculation of Christian growth combined with historical evidence show how it has
spread: In 1900, 83 percent of the world s Christians lived in Europe and North America. In 2050,
72 percent of Christians will live in Africa, Asia, and Latin America (Jenkins xi). This demographic
and geographic change can be traced back to the beginning of Christian Imperialism. The Roman
Empire adopted religion in the Fourth Century and spread its word across the Empire. Christian
writings originally written in Coptic and Greek began to be written in Latin (Jenkins 22). Although
the Romans left Britain in the Fifth Century, the indigenous Celts and Anglo Saxon peoples of the
Isle had learned of Christianity though Roman conquest and adopted it as their official religion in
the Seventh Century (Jenkins 23). Firmly rooted in Britain, Christianity was able to stowaway on
the boats of missionaries and soldiers as the English Empire spread its wings. Following the
Protestant Reformation and establishment of the Anglican Church, English settlers pushed West
across the Atlantic seeking religious freedom and the ability to raise a new Church the way they
saw fit (Merriman 407). These brave men and women were Pilgrims and Puritans and they carried
the torch of Christianity to the New World. With the establishment of the British colonies in the
New World came the eventual establishment of the United States, the world s next great power in
succession after Rome and Britain. Christianity is and always was the dominant religion of the
United States, and as technology developed and sharing information became easier, global
communication and travel increased. With the Christian faith firmly grounded on both sides of the
Atlantic, these developments made it easier to spread its word and convert even more people to the

Samalan Christmas Religion
In Spain, Samana Santa is the most spectacular one week celebration of Easter that I have ever
seen. It is a week of celebration leading to Easter weekend. Although it is celebrated all over the
Spain, the one in Seville is one of the most elaborate ones. It is very normal to experience cultural
shock when living in a different country, but during this week, I experienced one of the greatest
cultural shocks. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the processions and learning about the history and
the reasoning behind them, I was shocked to see the costumes of the people who took part in the
religious processions. Samana Santa, known as the Holy Week in English, consists of religious
processions every day. It is a time when the devotees recognize and repent for their wrongdoings,
reflecting the fact that Jesus Christ died on the cross to save them. People from various
brotherhoods called the cofradias, participate in the processions. In Seville, there are 55... Show

After researching and talking to the Sevillanos, I found that the Nazarenos have been dressing like
this for more than 500 years, which is well before KKK originated. There is no defined link
between the two, but there is a possibility that one of the KKK members must have witnessed the
Samana Santa parade and gotten inspired by their costume. Unlike KKK, there is a very religious
reason behind why the Nazarenos dress up like that. Walking for about eight hours in the burning
sun, while wearing that costume is a sign of penance. They cover their faces in mourning and as a
sign that they are shameful for the sins that they have committed. On the morning of Easter Sunday,
they remove their head covers to mark the end of the mourning. After learning about the reason
behind this costume and the tradition associated with it, I think it is shame to associate this sacred

Innocence In The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger...
In J.D. Salinger s The Catcher In The Rye, Holden Caulfield, a seventeen year old boy, transitions
from childhood to adulthood. The death of Holden s little brother signifies the beginning his loss
of innocence and growth of maturity. As he enters adulthood, Holden views society differently
from his peers by characterizing most of his peers and adults he meets as phonies. Thus, Holden
takes the impossible challenge of preserving the innocence in children because he wants to prevent
children from experiencing the corruption in society. The Catcher In The Rye embodies Holden s
struggle to preserve the innocence of children and reveals the inevitability of and the necessity of
encountering the harsh realities of life. As a child,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Holden hardly even know[s] James, he sees him as someone who is real and not
phony, admiring his resistance to lie (Salinger 171. The deaths of Allie and James cause Holden
to contemplate suicide in order to escape the world of phoniness he lives in. Consequently,
Holden s constant thoughts about suicide lead to his own loss of innocence and advancement
toward adulthood. Likewise, Holden is also consistently rejected when he seeks help from
others. On Saturday night, Holden rides the cab to Ernie s. During the ride, Holden sort of
[strikes] up a conversation with Horwitz, the cab driver, about the ducks in Central Park
(Salinger 81). Holden does not know where to go and feels lost, relating himself to the ducks
during winter. However, Horwitz blatantly shows no interest in the ducks and diverts the
conversation to the fish in the pond instead, thinking that winter is tougher for the fish (Salinger
82). Despite his curiosity, Holden quickly drops the conversation after seeing that Horwitz is
getting frustrated with him. In addition, Horwitz also rejects Holden s invitation to have a drink.
Later on, Holden hires Sunny, a prostitute. Although Holden claims to be a sex maniac, he is still
a virgin. Thus, as Sunny begins to take off her clothes, Holden feels peculiar and embarrassed. He
notices Sunny s childish habits, such as her teeny little wheeny whiny voice and lack of use of
vulgar language (Salinger 94). In addition, Sunny starts jiggling her

Leonard Meaning
After researching the true meaning behind the song, I had realized that the way that I had viewed
the song was the complete opposite of the actual meaning the Leonard and put within the song. The
song is about a love that has fallen and the love had turned into hate. Within the song, Leonard
includes a couple of religious imagery that relates to their relationship going downhill. You saw her
bathing on the roof, her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you is one out of the three imageries
used within the song. This line is an imagery of Bathsheba tempting the king to killher husband so
he can have her to himself. Claiming that there s hate and betrayal involved within this quote that
correlates to sour love. She tied you to the kitchen chair,

Scene Analysis of The Green Mile Essay
The film The Green Mile was originally written by Stephen King and later directed by Frank
Darabont. It is based on the guards and inmates of a penitentiary s Death Row during the great
depression. There is a certain monotony that comes with working on Death Row and Paul
Edgecomb, played by Tom Hanks, has become numb to the fact that he is paid to take lives; that
is until John Coffey gets sentenced to death and is sent to Paul s green mile . John Coffey is a
very large black man that was accused of rape and murder of two little girls, and in the 1930 s
having charges like that brought upon you was grounds for the death penalty, especially for a black

Jingles. Quite a lot of time has passed in the movie from Paul on the Green Mile to Paul in the
nursing home, this is referred to as cinematic time. He has walked with another resident, Elaine
who is a minor character, out to an old shed on location filled with objects of the past, usual
things found in a shed but they were all covered in dust. Just that screen shot of the two elderly
people juxtaposed together to create a composition that plays off of each other is very powerful
in itself. The book The Philosophy of Language Film Analysis explains to us that these types of
scenarios, elderly people in an old building, help to create a really strong scene and help the
movie a lot. If we has seen Paul and Elaine walk into a brand new mansion the effect of Paul s
suffering would not be understood. The next shot is of both Paul and Elaine getting down on the
old wood floor and are playing with Mr. Jingles. Then Paul starts explaining the details of the
story to Elaine and they go back and forth conversing. He is explaining to her that he was cursed
for killing a miracle of God and his punishment is to stay alive while those around him that he
loves must die. Both he and Mr. Jingles got a piece of John Coffey when they had their little
encounters with him, and together they must go on. We see three different shots throughout the
majority of this scene. First it goes back and forth with shot and reverse shot as Paul and Elaine are

Rhetorical Appeals In Fed Up
In recent years, obesity has become one of the major health crisis in the United States. Obesity
rates are growing continuously in the United States. More and more people have affected by
obesity. Even children have become the victims of obesity. Stephanie Soechtig, the director of the
documentary film Fed Up, looks into the obesity epidemic to to find the reasons that caused this
health issue and possible solutions. According to Katie Couric, The narrator of Fed Up, the
general public believe the cause of obesity epidemic are the lack of exercise and increased
appetites (Fed Up). However, the true cause that Soechting has found is not just simply lack of
exercise or increased appetites. In the documentary film Fed Up, the producer Stephanie Soechting

Analysis Of Fred Ebb s Cabaret
What good is sitting alone in your room? Come hear the music play; Life is a cabaret, old chum,
Come to the cabaret. Fred Ebb wrote these lyrics for a song, sung by Sally Bowles, in the play
Cabaret. Fred Ebb was the lyricist for this play, while John Kander was the composer. In 1972,
Joe Masteroff was the writer and the Producer was Harold Prince, the production was based in
1930 s Berlin. This production was based during the time when Nazismwas rising to power
everywhere, but especially in the heart of Germany, which was Berlin. Germany was already
greatly crippled with debt from World War One and also from after that with the Wall Street s
stock market crash, the 1930 s was a tough time for the entire nation. The 1930 s is when Adolf
Hitlerand the Nazi partywanted to become part of parliament, and Hitler, became a hit. He made
many promises to the world, and he restored everyone s hope and made them all feel like they
could conquer anything as a country together. Hitler made people feel like their opinions mattered
to him, even when they did not. When the Nazi s came to power, even the police leaned more
toward that power, not just because they were in power, but because they believed in the party and
the points that they were making. It was better to be safe from discrimination than to be
discriminated against. There was a multitude of Nazism and Antisemitism throughout this time, and

The Impact Of Social Work On The Elderly
When you think about social work, you come to mind of professionals stepping in to help
families, communities and organizations. I neglect consider the elderly and put them last in
need of care and assistance. In terms of the idea about social work with the elderly it has a small
impact. The role of the social worker has a part of administrative requirements. Throughout the
period of time and development of social work there is casework that deal with the elderly. The
practice of this that deal with the elderly had very little recognition until it was carried out by the
National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 (Jordan, 2005, pp. 43). Social work in

their income from public pension plans. Many business pension funds now underfunded; may be

way of living becomes more difficult in the process. Life expectancy has doubled over the past

health gap between seniors with low incomes and those with higher incomes. Seniors face a
number of common issues: Inactivity, accidents, victims of fraud and mandatory retirement. Elder
abuse and neglect of seniors is the mistreatment of older people by those in a position of trust,

The Human Cost Of Natural Disasters
Tropical storms are an incredible threat to humanity. The International Disaster Database (EM
DAT) recorded 6,873 natural disasters worldwide, which claimed 1.35 million lives or almost
68,000 lives on average each year (The Human Cost of Natural Disasters 2015). Although
shelters are of great use, this form of relief requires days and often weeks to establish.
Additionally, shelters must be built by people and assembling teams of volunteers is not always
easy or time efficient. This pertinent issue combined with the leftover metal containers from the
shipping industry is a blessing in disguise. This trash scattered across the world has allowed
some individuals to make elaborate designs. For example, incorporating multiple containers to
mimic a permanent house. To quickly provide assistance to those negatively affected by tropical
storms, mobile relief shelters shall be made from recycled shipping containers. My proposal is
to design a fleet of specially crafted, repurposed shipping containers that will be stored on a ship
owned by the UN. These 20 or 40 foot housing shelters are designed to house maximum
occupants and to be deployable within a matter of hours after a storm takes place. This ready
reserve vessel will have to ability to be activated within a minutes notice. This fast response feature
will ease stress in the devastating and intense times of a tropical storm. Upon arrival, the ship will
have its own cranes and booms to unload the shelters shore

Features Of Oligopoly
Introduction What is Oligopoly? The word oligopoly has been coined from the Greek words:
Oligi means few polein means to sell. Thus, Oligopoly is a market scenario which comprises of
few sellers (more than 2) of differentiated or homogenous product. Features of Oligopoly Main
features of oligopoly are as follows 1.Small numbers of firms The number of large firms
dominating the market are few. 2.Interdependence Since the No. of Firms are few, so the action
taken by one firm would definitely affect the other firms as well. A change in price can evoke
reaction from other firms. 3.Non price Competition A change in price by one firm will bring

Non Collusive Oligopoly When there are no agreements between the companies in the oligopoly
market, then it is called Non collusive Oligopoly. Herfindahl Hirschman Index (HHI) Herfindahl
Hirschman Index is a degree of concentration of few large firms dominating an industry. It is
calculated as the sum of squares of market shares of the firm within the industry. Here the market
shares are expressed in percentage or in fractions. Its range lies between 0 to 1.0, in other words
it moves from huge number of small firms in an industry to a single monopolistic producer. As
HHI increases it shows a decline in competition and increase in market power. In case percentage
is used for calculation the index range changes from 0 to 10000 points. Eg. Index of .4 = 4000
points. Formula: In India, industries such automobiles, cement, steel, cold drinks, cigarettes etc

time, and has been a major problem in the worldtoday. Some people may not care about this, some
people really express their feelings on this subject, but some people just simply don t know much
about the subject. Inequality can happen anywhere from your own home to globally all over the
world. Back in my hometown, Medford Massachusetts, I work at a local popular sub shop. This sub
shop has people coming from all neighboring towns just dying to try one of our famous subs. I
work here as a chef with a small crew of around 6 total workers who are all very close to each other.
I have been working here for a while, and I have seen workers come and go, but the one thing I
realized is that I ve never seen/heard of a girl working here before. I figured I would bring this
topic across to my boss, Joe. My boss was sort of looked at as a local hero. He was always quick to

Fumimaro Konoe s Invasion Of China
Between 1031 and 1937, the Japanese army had invaded Manchuria and created a demilitarized
zone in east Hubei and a Mongolian puppet state around Charchar and fought with Chinese in
Shanghai. Fumimaro Konoe became prime minister in mid 1937, but the army which had
conducted the war largely independently had taken over many position within the government. In
China, Chiang Kai Shek, realizing he would have little support from the Leauge of Nations,
strengthened the relationship with Nazi Germany to improve his armies. And with war loaming, he
had united many of the warlords and communists into a united front. But some like the Guangxi
Clique and Shanxi ran virtually independent states. And Xin Jiang was in a state of war and under
Soviet influence. Plus, after years of war, China s army was left weak. But in early 1937, Japanese
soldiers, who had conducted military exercises outside Beijing for decades, exchanged fire with
Chinses soldiers. The Japanese army responded to this, the Marco Polo bridge incident, with a full
scale invasion without support from Konoe. Within month they quickly captured Beijing and
Tianjin, crushed a mutiny in Hubei and continued South to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

prejudice in greek system Essay
A major part of every college campus is the Greek system. Although, many times it goes unnoticed
there is major segregation among the fraternities and sororities in the south. Why is such an
important issue often overlooked? We need to be more aware of segregation because in many cases
it causes conflict. What if an African American wanted to join a traditionally white fraternity or
sororityor vise versa? The chancesof him/her getting in are pretty slim. In fact, it would be most
likely that they would not. The walls of race and the barriers from so called ?traditions? in the
Greek system should be broken in order to diversify the organizations and lead to the changes
necessary to end segregation and discrimination for good.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A complaint of discrimination was filed last year at the University of Georgia against the Alpha
Gamma Delta sorority. One member was outraged and concerned when an African American
membership candidate ?was discussed separately from other potential members? and her sisters
were finding fault with the candidate (McCarthy). Many gave her low scores ?attributed to her
race? and made comments such as ?Why did she go through White Rush?? (and) ?If we had a
black girl in our sorority, none of the fraternities would want to do anything with us? (McCarthy).
Although it was the first time a sorority had been accused of racial discrimination, one student

American students choose to participate in membership recruitment, or rush, which shepherds

African American girl being punished and viewed with conviction because her actions were

Greed In Washington Irving s The Devil And Tom Walker
The Devil and Tom Walker is short story written by Washington Irving. Irving was able to
combine reason with things of the supernatural world in his work. In the Devil and Tom Walker,
Irving was able to achieve this allegorical goal. Tom Walker is the miserly protagonist of this short
story who lives with his equally as stingy wife. Their relationship is not close at all since either of
them only care about money. He is found one day walking through the woods and encounters a
being that is known as Old Scratch . Old Scratch is a character who portrays the devil and makes
a deal with Tom that essentially puts his life in the hands of the devil. There was a treasure buried
in the woods that has been in the ownership of the devil. The first time... Show more content on

Irving sheds light on Tom s hypocrisy in the deal that was made with Old Scratch. When Tom
and Old Scratch were negotiating the deal, Old Scratch said that Tom would become a slave
trader. Tom refused this offer, but after his wife died, he accepted the offer as a moneylender.
Irving represents Tom s hypocrisy in his choice of accepting the offer. Since Walker did not
want to become a slave trader, he became a moneylender who profits by exhausting others out of
their money through shady business deals. Another indicator of his hypocrisy is the deals he
demanded to keep with his customers. Of course the deals he made with those customers, gained
him money. Those people were drained of all their hard earned pay. In the midst of taking peoples
money from them, he thinks it is acceptable to deceive the devil on the conditions of their deal
which reflects on his hypocrisy. Another indication of his hypocrisy is when he repudiates that he
had made even a penny from an unlucky land speculator for whom he had professed the greatest
friendship. His hypocrisy goes hand and hand with his greed yielding him the same

Impossible Job Of Child Protective Services
Impossible Job of Child Protective Services The article immediately starts out with a gruesome
horror story that no child should have to endure. Then talks about the history of the cycle we
have fallen into. child protective services has been driven by horror stories that have become a
meta narrative: social workers screw up by missing the telltale signs of abuse, kids get hurt,
laws are reformed, and thus more at risk children are taken out of their homes and given to
loving adoptive families. then goes to say that they do not live happily ever after. That only 20%
of kid come out of the system well adjusted. The article talks about how the media is quick to job
on Social Service for being the cause of childrens deaths and that is why the system takes kids.
The media expects you to remove kids at the warning signs, but not too early because you will
be portrayed as a monster if you violate parents right. Warning signs do not predict the future,
just because a police officer interviews a man who is black and poor, and has committed a
crime before and they think he will commit a crime again, they can not arrest them. The police
officer who had an interview with the man is not going to get blamed for not taking the man off
the streets if that man leaves the interview and commits a crime. So why would a social worker
get the blame? The article basically paints Child Protective Services workers as racists legalized
kidnappers. The removal of children into the system

Ending Homelessness in America
We live in a world where it is survival of the fittest. It is hard to succeed, one wrong decision can
easily lead someone into a financial struggle. This can lead to homelessness. Homelessness is not a
lifestyle that one would choose by choice. In 2003, there has been ... as many as 1.3 million
Canadians that have experienced homelessness...at some point during the last 5 years. Affordable
housing costs less on an annual basis compared to putting the homeless in prison. Canada was
the last to have an action plan towards ending homelessness and as we are understanding; the
prisons are being over populated. We often hear that people in our society blame the homeless
for living on the streets. Society does not think it could happen to them but in reality it can
happen to anyone. Society tends to forget that what the homeless have to go through with the
struggles and obstacles of living on the streets. The cold temperatures, lack of clothing, sleep
and food, this is not a choice someone would make. Those people who believe it is a choice
often refuse to help the homeless. On various occasions i have heard people say that they refuse
to give money to someone who is homeless. Their reasoning behind it is that they are afraid that
the homeless person will use that money to buy drugs or alcohol. When we receive a paycheck
from our boss they don t ask what we are going to do with the money. Why should we worry about
what the homeless do with the money. There are reasons as to

Battle Of Trenton
The American Revolution was about different conflicts. The conflict arose from growing tensions
between residents of Great Britain s 13 North American colonies and the colonial government. The
colonists wanted independence from Great Britain because the king created unreasonable taxes.
After that the colonists decided to rebel against this. There were several battles that change the
outcome of the American Revolution. For example, the Battle of Trenton changes the course of the
war because the Americans won. The Battle of Trenton was the most important battle because
Hessian army was crushed in Washington s raid and it made people more confident in the country.
By 1775, rigidity between the American colonies and the British government approached the
breaking point. In the spring of 1775, General Thomas Gage received information to take weapons
and gunpowder away from American insurgents. On April 18, he sent British troops to march...

Can I create a hybrid with the earth elemental? Make the second race a random choice though.
In the character selection, there was an advanced choice called hybrid. It was an option where
you could mix races together for a maximum of three races one could mix into one creature. The
hybrid would receive the racial traits of all the selected races, though it would be random. A bad
hybrid might receive only the negative aspects and a good hybrid might receive only the positive.
It was completely random and once a hybrid was made, the racial traits would be locked. You
could create a different hybrid though. For example, if I mixed a high elf and mountain dwarf but
wasn t satisfied with the result, I couldn t remix them. The results would be locked and I couldn t
change them. I could attempt to mix a high elf and a river dwarf though.

Analysis Of A Lock Of Hair And A Wounded Heart
A Lock of Hair and a Wounded Heart Throughout the course of history and its literature, authors
and poets have served as messengers for the times in which they lived, whether it be about political
upheaval or social constructs or the lives of the common man. One way this was accomplished was
through satire. Alexander Pope, whom of which lived in the literary Restoration period and wrote
the poem, The Rape of the Lock, in 1714, provides a work as an excellent example of satire. He
parodies the upper classes favorite literature (epic, heroic poetry) to mock the absurdity and
irrationality of the upper class. Using the common tropes of divine intervention, hyperbole, and
lofty language, a gleefully sarcastic tone emerges to allow the reader to see through the faux
seriousness regarding the loss of a strand of hairfrom a noble woman. In numerous works of epic
poetry and that of the classic style, an invocation to divine spirits and gods invited a sense of
vindication and importance in a work. Works like Homer s long beloved Odyssey among others
almost completely rely on divine intervention to effectuate the plot and justify actions of either the
protagonist or the antagonist. Pope crafitly uses this common tactic in such works to parody the
highbrow love for them. In the case of Belinda, her beauty is such to rival nymphs and Aphrodite;
she is incontestably divine in human form, made of love and youth and flowering nature. That
beauty, however, is soiled when a lock from

Analysis Of Mice And Men By John Steinbeck

Part one: I want to find out how important it is to take care of those in need? I am interested in
this because there are a lot of people in the world that have disabilities and they need help. In
mice and men, Lennie has trouble understanding the outside world and he takes time to process
things in his brain. Lennie doesn t know his strength and he can get into trouble easily. For
example, when Curly wants to fight with Lennie, Lennie accidentally breaks his right arm. At
the end of the story, Lennie hugs a puppy but accidentally kills it. Also, he kills Curly s wife by
snapping her neck. People with problems, how can they take care of themselves? In mice and
men, George takes care of Lennie by thinking he is a part of him. But in the real world, how
important is it to care someone who has certain types of problems?
Part 2: In the United States, there are tons of health hospital and facilities, there all know a little bit
off something about how important it to care someone with disabilities. There are websites like the
national council on disability or the NCD, The United States centers for disease control and
prevention or CDC, and health care. There are also resources like gale, which can hold a lot of
information about this particular topic. There are a lot of great information out in the world, some
are in book that exist somewhere in the world.

The Change of the Rights and Freedoms of Australian Women...
The Change of The Rights and Freedoms of Australian Women Over The Past 100 Years
The progression of the rights and freedoms of women has changed drastically over the past 100
years. Women have felt the need to stand up for their rights and change the traditional stereotype
of women from, weak and unambitious to strong and determined beings. There were two main
time periods where their rights were recognized throughout Australia. The first took place in the
early 20th century, where women rallied for the rights to vote and stand for elections. The second
took place in the 1960s and 1970s, when traditional roles of women were challenged. The third

There were many females in Australia who were activists and believed that Australian women

Edith Cowan was the first woman elected to an Australian Parliament in Western Perth, Western
Australia in the year 1921. Women from different states were inspired by Cowan and in
Queensland, Irene Longman was the first woman to be elected in the Queensland parliament in

motherhood, children, family, marital problems, home and health. In 1972, Helen Reddy

Stereotyping Is Bad
Is stereotyping really bad? Well, it isn t bad because it helps people understand who does what
because of this, right? However, that s not necessarily true. In this world, stereotyping has been a

Stereotypeis a term defined as: An oversimplified generalization about a person or group of people

Nat King Ray Research Paper
Ray has a sound that was very comparable to jazz singer Nat King Cole. He set himself apart
from Nat King Cole by creating a new and unique sound that had never been heard before. The
main instruments that Ray used were his voice and the piano. Ray first experienced playing the
piano when he was just three years old with a much older mentor who taught Ray how to play.
Eventually, Ray learned how to read and write musicin Braille and he furthered his skills as a piano
player while he attended the school for the deaf and blind.
Ray listened to a wide variety of music when he was growing up and he enjoyed all genres of
music. Moreover, he didn t want to limit himself to only doing one style of music. Ray s main

Use Of Isolation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross
It is during long periods of isolation that the true character of an individual is revealed. In his text,
The Painted Door , Sinclair Ross reiterates this message through his protagonist, Ann. Her
isolations are depicted in numerous forms, as a physical isolation from other neighbours, a mental
isolation, and an isolation within her marriage. Ross has successfully illustrated the concept of
isolation having a detrimental impact on the human spirit. The setting represents the physical
aspect of isolation in the story. .... the long white miles of prairie landscape seemed a region
strangely alien to life. [ ] the distant farmsteads she could see served only to intensify a sense of
isolation. (Ross 1) This is the tangible form that isolation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But John of course couldn t understand. To him him it seemed .... only right that he, fit for
nothing else, should slave away fifteen hours a day to give them to her. Her frustrations are due to
the various forms of isolation that have made their marriage the focus of outside forces. In the
distance, sky and prairie now were merged into one another linelessly. All round her it was
gathering; already in its press and whimpering there strummed a boding of eventual fury. (Ross 5)
This is where the physical isolation and the mental isolation merge to form the storm or the Steven
that would bring about the end of their marriage. The isolation of communication has cost them
their relationship, where before, anything relating to infidelity would be ludicrous to exist, but now,
it is a

Review Of Twilight By Stephanie Meyers
Twilight is a book written by Stephanie Meyers it is considered a romance, but with a lack of
character depth and without those characters having many redeeming qualities it is hard to
classify it as such. Twilight is the story of a 17 years who move in with her dad and fall in love
with a vampire. There are many poor qualities in this book including Bella the main character, the
stalker like qualities of Edward, the fact no one in the town notices the vampires, terrible parents,
and a horrible villain.
Bella is the main character and the narrator of the story she is explained to be pale and that s
about it. Bella is a girl who apparently has always had to be the adult in her mother daughter
relationship, but yet she completely lacks common sense. Numerous times in the book her life is
threatened and it appears as if she actually enjoys it. She had absolutely no preservation of life it
as if she thinks she is invisible with being the most week character in the book. At one point in the
book she literally passes out from seeing blood and yet other times she rushing into danger with
out a second thought. The book tries to play her actions as brave but they come across as childish
and not thought out. Another problem is she is completely ok with Edwards s horrible behavior
towards her. He literally was sneaking into watch her sleep and she thought it was sweet. She is
wanted to portrayed as one of the most mature people in the story but she comes across as clueless

Fishman Short Story
One day there were 5 teenagers were roaming around a railroad . Selena, Jacy, Chewy (that s just
a nickname) Ramon, and Zack, didn t know this wasn t just an ordinary railroad . It was a
haunted railroad. They decided they would come back when it gets dark so they wouldn t get
caught. Because if they got caught they would be in trouble, cause this railroad was off limits.
When they were getting in there car and a person walked up to there car. His name was
LongJohn Fisherman. Did you guys just come from that abandoned railroad? asked LongJohn
Fisherman. Yes, Why, said Chewy. Well you don t know the danger of that railroad. It been
abandoned for years. I suggest you don t go there again. Unless you want to pay for your actions,
replied LongJohn Fisherman. What do you mean, asked Selena. What I mean is that there is
dangerous stuff around these railroads, and you should not be here. For example, there was a kid
who thought it would be funny to walked down these railroads and through stuff down on these
railroads, then something happened and the kid disappeared, strongly replied LongJohn
Fisherman. Maybe we should listen to him, said Jacy. No, this man doesn t know what he is
talking about, yelled Zack. Yea, I ve been in this town for 2 years and I never heard anything
wrong with the railroad, commented Ramon. Then they drove away, not even caring what the old
man had to say. Then like they said they came back at night to see if what the old man said

The Role Of Director Of The New Zealand Aid Programme Essay
I write to you in the hopes you will consider my application for the role of the Director of the New
Zealand Aid Programme (NZAP).
Studying the inconsistent implementation of past aid policies, I will use the Pacific to outline my
vision for the direction of future aid administration. Guided by the principle purpose of New
Zealand s first independent aid organisation, NZAID, and in keeping with international aid trends,
my vision for NZAP would work towards one clear goal: the elimination of poverty.
New Zealand aid policies have been reorganised over the past few decades, influenced by both
international practices and domestic politics. Effected in the years following World War II as
many Pacific nations gained independence, early aid approaches aligned with global
development policies and bilateral structures proposed by the Colombo Plan (Banks et al., 2012).
New Zealand aid provision increased through the 1970s, before dropping rapidly between the
1980s and 1990s with the adoption of neoliberal policies, deviating to focus on the implementation
of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the 2000s (Banks et al., 2012). Helen Clark s
reigning Labour Government, established NZAID in 2002, adopting policies which sought to
rectify the damage wrought during the lost decade when National s neoliberal policies saw the
introduction of Structural Adjustment Policies (SAPs) and drastic reduction of New Zealand s
Official Development Assistance (ODA) (Banks et al., 2012;

Pursuing Doctoral Studies For Academic Excellence Essay
I am mostly interested in pursuing doctoral studies to achieve my ultimate goal to become a
prolific researcher as well as an inspiring, knowledgeable university level teacher. Consequently,
in the short term, my goal is to gain knowledge and skills related to research and teaching
especially during my PhD program. Additionally, in the long run, I will spend most of my time
practicing the knowledge and skills that I will have already acquired by teaching classes and
seminars, doing research projects, as well as writing qualified academic articles and books. I will
dedicate most of the time that I have after gaining a Doctoratedegree in Business to the
advancement of the academic excellence.
In the meantime, I realize that at the moment my business knowledge is predominantly empirical
gained mostly from my background experience both professional and academic (MBA). It is
wide in nature as it covers many aspects of business practices. Yet, I miss the depth of the
business knowledge. Therefore, my understanding on a more theoretical background of business
and economic phenomena is limited. Pursuing a doctoral study would undoubtedly be necessary
for me to enhance my understanding, particularly in terms of theory and concept. It is not only in
terms of my comprehension of the subjects per se but also in terms of skills necessary in theory
building and research capability. Those are, I deem, very critical elements in academic excellence.
Moreover, I believe, all of these are

Consequences Of Drinking And Driving In The United States
The deadliest drunk driving accident in the U.S. occurred in 1988 on Interstate 71 in
Kentucky when a drunk driver with a BAC level of .24 g/dL caused a head on collision with a
school bus. The crash and ensuing fire killed 27 people (most of them children) and injured 34
others (Van Tuyl). In this essay the things that will be discussed is the consequences of drunk
driving, accidents caused by drunk driving, casualties caused by drunk driving, and how
community service should be the consequence for drunk driving instead of having the driver s
license taken away for a year. Drinking and driving should be punishable by having driver license
taken away for one year because the consequences now are not helping the problem, it causes

they would learn their lesson quicker and stop drinking and then driving home for example;
second it would be more beneficial for the community they would be cleaning up the community
and helping the community get in better shape; and thirdly if the driver had their license taken
away there would be barely anyone on the roads because so many people drink and drive and
then get caught so it would mean places like the gas stations, car dealerships, etc. would not get as
much business if people had their license taken away for a whole year.
In conclusion, drinking and driving should have more strict consequences and there should be
more consequences than they are now there should be consequences that are so strict and hard
that they make the driver never want to drink and then go drive because there are so many
accidents occurring from people driving drunk and there are a lot of fatal crashes occurring from
people drinking and then driving. Drinking and driving should be punishable by having driver
license taken away for one year because the consequences now are not helping the problem, it
causes accidents, and it causes

Studying The Chemistry And The Types Of Macro Invertebrates
In previous studies, studying the chemistry and the types of macro invertebrates that live in a
pond or stream can indicate how clean the water is; according to the North Carolina State
university water quality group, stoneflies like water rich in dissolved oxygen, cold in temperature
and flowing through rocks (Osmond watersheds page 1). In this lab, we went to two streams,
cherry creek and bear creek. We took physical Measurements like the width, depth, description of
substrate and the site. This was done for the upper, middle, and lower transect. and chemical
measurements of the streams like measuring pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia,
dissolved O2, and dissolved solids. We also counted the macro invertebrates we found and then we
Identified the ones we found. With the data that we collected, we hope to find out how does the
water affect the types of macro invertebrates found in the streamwhich brings up my hypothesis
which is The more dissolved O2 found in the water, we will find bioindicators that indicate clean
water. I predict if there is high amounts of O2 dissolved, then there will be presence of bio
indicators that only live in clean water. Our variables are water quality as our independent and our
dependent is the macro invertebrates.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
To start off the lab, we went to cherry creek first, which is located on Speer and larimer. Then the
following week, went to bear creek which was located on Estes St. The controlled

Peach In Ruins
Peach Garden in Ruins! The ripe peaches in the Peach Garden were found missing when the Fairy
Maidens of the Queen of Heaven went to collect them for the Peach Festival. All evidence
suggests that the Great Sage, Equal of Heaven is the cause of this. He is suspected of eating the
peaches when they ripened. His assistants, Hoe earth, Draw water, Peachtender and Leaf sweeper,
claim that the Sage had deceived them. Draw water says, We were with him all the time. The
only times we weren t was when he instructed us to be away from him. He said, I am feeling tired

Leasing A Piece Of Machinery Or Property
Leasing a piece of machinery or property can be beneficial for a company or individual rather
than a straight out purchase. This report will define a lease, the types, and benefits. While
illustrating the difference between a lessee and the lessor, showing the implantations of tax
benefits each party will be able to partake in. The third aspect that will be covered is the written
agreement between the parties, and how these terms can be self defining as to what type of leasein
which the parties are agreeing to.
A lease is a legal document outlining the terms under which one party agrees to rent property from
another party. A lease guarantees the lessee (the renter) use of an asset and guarantees the lessor
(the property owner) regular payments from the lessee for a specified number of months or years.
Both the lessee and the lessor must uphold the terms of the contract for the lease to remain valid.
(Investopedia) With in the contracts the details of the agreement are laid out, for both the lessee
and lessor. Within these documents and who they are written can determine what type of lease they
are.
Lease Types
There are in general two types of leases. The first would be a capital lease which is a lease in
which the lessor only finances the leased asset, and all other rights of the ownership transfer to the
lessee (Accounting Tools). Within the parameters of the capital lease the lessor can only record the
interest on the lease as an expense, while the asset itself

  • 2. Japan Population Growth Declining Birth Rate and the Problems a) Study a country on how and why its population has aged rapidly during the last 40 or 50 years, and analyze its consequences. Japan s graying population: The reasons behind it, steps taken to curb it and the implications of an aging society Introduction Japan has seen rapid development from the times of Meiji Restoration (1868) up till today. In fact, it has grown more rapidly than any other countries from 1870 to 1994 (Nafziger,1995) because of the various economic policies its government had undertaken after the war ended. Thus, as a result of this economic growth, standard of living has gone up and along with technological advancements, Japan enjoys one of the highest life expectancy compared to any other countries in the world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another reason is the economic recession. The economy was bad for Japan throughout the 1990s. The unemployment rate rose sharply from 2% in 1990 to 5% in 2003(Suzuki, 2006). Youth was not given an opportunity to work and those who did obtain a stable job decreased from 77.8% in 1988 to 55.8% in 2004 and that those who obtained no job or a temporary job went up from 9.4% to 24.6% during the same period. The proportion proceeding to higher education increased from 6.5% to 11.8% meaning that starting a family will be delayed. . Suzuki also mentioned that the low income of young men relative to their fathers discouraged marriage. Previously, the income of men in their 30s were more than that of their fathers and motivated women to marry them. Current trends, however, indicated that the relative income of young men to old men has declined substantially and young men are less appealing as marriage partners than before. Problems with an aging society One of the issues with an ageing society is that the dependency ratio of the country will increase. Dependency ratio refers to the number of persons under age 15 plus persons aged 65 or older per one hundred persons 15 to 64. It is the sum of the youth dependency ratio and the old age dependency ratio. This means that as the society ages, more young people are tasked ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Adventure Experience All of my life, I loved exploring and finding beautiful places. I loved climbing that mountain, getting to the top of that building, climbing that jungle gym. It was fun for me. I have had many fun experiences doing this, and this story I wish to tell you is one of the most interesting, because I have the most fun exploring the unknown. During the summer, I went to a nearby park called Prophetstown. It s a park with a recreated farm from the times of William Henry Harrison and Tecumseh. During my exploring, I came across a fence behind a forest. I managed to squeeze through it, and found a very large hole, around 100 wide, 30 feet deep, and at least a quarter mile in length. I slid down . After that I threw rocks at the 30 foot cliff, which made some of the rocks in it fall down. I did this until there was a noticeable pile of pebbles surrounding me. I decided to go explore further into the pit, where I found more piles of gravel, as well as bulldozers and shovels. Eventually I found an opening that led to a swamp. The mud near the water made your feet sink into it, and the rest of the land was covered in hard bamboo like plants, making me forced to step through the wet and slimy mud. After some time, A dock came into view, and I stepped on, my once new shoes covered in mud. The dock had a canoe attached to it, full of emergency supplies such as a flare gun, food, and water. It didn t make much sense to me because the swamp was very small. A couple of feet from the canoe, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today with computer networking, we can chat, speak and see each other over a long distance. Data communication refers to the transmission of the digital signals over a communication channel between the transmitter and receiver computers. Communication is possible only with wired and wireless connectivity of the computers with each other. All the computers, in the logically and physically networks have to follow the same rules known as Protocols such as TCP/IP, IPX/SPX and NETBEUI etc. Today, there are many computer networking technologies such as LAN, MAN, WAN, WLAN, ISDN, ATM, Frame Relay, X.25, Bluetooth, ... Well known communications protocols are Ethernet, a hardware and Link standard that is ubiquitous in local area networks, and the Internet Protocol Suite, which defines a set of protocols for internetworking, i.e. for data communication between multiple networks, as well as host to host data transfer, and application specific data transmission formats. Computer networking is sometimes considered a sub discipline of electrical engineering, telecommunications, computer science, information technology or computer engineering, since it relies upon the theoretical and practical application of these disciplines. The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite (TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies. The Internet carries a vast range of information resources and services, such as the inter linked hypertext documents of the World Wide Web (WWW) and the infrastructure to support electronic mail. • 5. The Cultural History Behind Racial Science Race is a fictional notion fashioned by debunked scientists in order to justify their cruelties and enhance their perceived superiority. Just as religion was once used to justify the horrors of the Crusades (Lindqvist, pg. 161), science would be the means to pardon the brutalities of imperialism, manifest destiny, and the white man s burden. Constrained by binary thinking, Western thought pinned the illusory civilized against the primitive using metaphors attached to scientific reasoning (Stepan, pg. 362). Because of Africans supposed likeness to apes, they were not fully human; skull measurements, despite being inaccurate, were used to rank the races of Mongoloid, Negro, and Caucasian (Gould, pg. 103). Through some omissions and statistical finagling, Caucasians wound up with the highest cranial capacities. Consequently, small and ape like became synonyms for inferior and stupid. In this paper, I will draw upon our class readings to explicate the cultural history behind racial science, and how science artificially constructed raceby ignoring outliers and probing for racial differences. Science was born deeply intertwined within the Western cultural realm. It developed snuggly with ideas of European grandeur through the grace and favor of Almighty God (Lindqvist, pg.11). The cultural conditioning these [scientists] had absorbed early in their careers influenced more than their writing: it skewed their research (Freedman). Coinciding with scientific inquiries of ... With its fluidity and ever magnifying physical presence, Christianity has spread with the powers of the world. Speculation of Christian growth combined with historical evidence show how it has spread: In 1900, 83 percent of the world s Christians lived in Europe and North America. In 2050, 72 percent of Christians will live in Africa, Asia, and Latin America (Jenkins xi). This demographic and geographic change can be traced back to the beginning of Christian Imperialism. The Roman Empire adopted religion in the Fourth Century and spread its word across the Empire. Christian writings originally written in Coptic and Greek began to be written in Latin (Jenkins 22). Although the Romans left Britain in the Fifth Century, the indigenous Celts and Anglo Saxon peoples of the Isle had learned of Christianity though Roman conquest and adopted it as their official religion in the Seventh Century (Jenkins 23). Firmly rooted in Britain, Christianity was able to stowaway on the boats of missionaries and soldiers as the English Empire spread its wings. Following the Protestant Reformation and establishment of the Anglican Church, English settlers pushed West across the Atlantic seeking religious freedom and the ability to raise a new Church the way they saw fit (Merriman 407). These brave men and women were Pilgrims and Puritans and they carried the torch of Christianity to the New World. With the establishment of the British colonies in the New World came the eventual establishment of the United States, the world s next great power in succession after Rome and Britain. Christianity is and always was the dominant religion of the United States, and as technology developed and sharing information became easier, global communication and travel increased. With the Christian faith firmly grounded on both sides of the Atlantic, these developments made it easier to spread its word and convert even more people to the cause of ... Although it is celebrated all over the Spain, the one in Seville is one of the most elaborate ones. It is very normal to experience cultural shock when living in a different country, but during this week, I experienced one of the greatest cultural shocks. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the processions and learning about the history and the reasoning behind them, I was shocked to see the costumes of the people who took part in the religious processions. Samana Santa, known as the Holy Week in English, consists of religious processions every day. There is no defined link between the two, but there is a possibility that one of the KKK members must have witnessed the Samana Santa parade and gotten inspired by their costume. Unlike KKK, there is a very religious reason behind why the Nazarenos dress up like that. Walking for about eight hours in the burning sun, while wearing that costume is a sign of penance. They cover their faces in mourning and as a sign that they are shameful for the sins that they have committed. On the morning of Easter Sunday, they remove their head covers to mark the end of the mourning. The International Disaster Database (EM DAT) recorded 6,873 natural disasters worldwide, which claimed 1.35 million lives or almost 68,000 lives on average each year (The Human Cost of Natural Disasters 2015). Although shelters are of great use, this form of relief requires days and often weeks to establish. Additionally, shelters must be built by people and assembling teams of volunteers is not always easy or time efficient. This pertinent issue combined with the leftover metal containers from the shipping industry is a blessing in disguise. This trash scattered across the world has allowed some individuals to make elaborate designs. For example, incorporating multiple containers to mimic a permanent house. To quickly provide assistance to those negatively affected by tropical storms, mobile relief shelters shall be made from recycled shipping containers. My proposal is to design a fleet of specially crafted, repurposed shipping containers that will be stored on a ship owned by the UN. These 20 or 40 foot housing shelters are designed to house maximum occupants and to be deployable within a matter of hours after a storm takes place. I have been working here for a while, and I have seen workers come and go, but the one thing I realized is that I ve never seen/heard of a girl working here before. I figured I would bring this topic across to my boss, Joe. My boss was sort of looked at as a local hero. He was always quick to crack a joke with his workers, and even his customers. Although, many times it goes unnoticed there is major segregation among the fraternities and sororities in the south. Why is such an important issue often overlooked? We need to be more aware of segregation because in many cases it causes conflict. What if an African American wanted to join a traditionally white fraternity or sororityor vise versa? The chancesof him/her getting in are pretty slim. In fact, it would be most likely that they would not. He is found one day walking through the woods and encounters a being that is known as Old Scratch . Irving sheds light on Tom s hypocrisy in the deal that was made with Old Scratch. When Tom and Old Scratch were negotiating the deal, Old Scratch said that Tom would become a slave trader. Since Walker did not want to become a slave trader, he became a moneylender who profits by exhausting others out of their money through shady business deals. Another indicator of his hypocrisy is the deals he demanded to keep with his customers. Of course the deals he made with those customers, gained him money. Those people were drained of all their hard earned pay. In the midst of taking peoples money from them, he thinks it is acceptable to deceive the devil on the conditions of their deal which reflects on his hypocrisy. • 27. Analysis Of A Lock Of Hair And A Wounded Heart A Lock of Hair and a Wounded Heart Throughout the course of history and its literature, authors and poets have served as messengers for the times in which they lived, whether it be about political upheaval or social constructs or the lives of the common man. One way this was accomplished was through satire. Alexander Pope, whom of which lived in the literary Restoration period and wrote the poem, The Rape of the Lock, in 1714, provides a work as an excellent example of satire. He parodies the upper classes favorite literature (epic, heroic poetry) to mock the absurdity and irrationality of the upper class. Using the common tropes of divine intervention, hyperbole, and lofty language, a gleefully sarcastic tone emerges to allow the reader to see through the faux seriousness regarding the loss of a strand of hairfrom a noble woman. In numerous works of epic poetry and that of the classic style, an invocation to divine spirits and gods invited a sense of vindication and importance in a work. Works like Homer s long beloved Odyssey among others almost completely rely on divine intervention to effectuate the plot and justify actions of either the protagonist or the antagonist. Pope crafitly uses this common tactic in such works to parody the highbrow love for them. In the case of Belinda, her beauty is such to rival nymphs and Aphrodite; she is incontestably divine in human form, made of love and youth and flowering nature. That beauty, however, is soiled when a lock from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Use Of Isolation In The Painted Door By Sinclair Ross It is during long periods of isolation that the true character of an individual is revealed. In his text, The Painted Door , Sinclair Ross reiterates this message through his protagonist, Ann. Her isolations are depicted in numerous forms, as a physical isolation from other neighbours, a mental isolation, and an isolation within her marriage. Ross has successfully illustrated the concept of isolation having a detrimental impact on the human spirit. The setting represents the physical aspect of isolation in the story. .... the long white miles of prairie landscape seemed a region strangely alien to life. • 41. Review Of Twilight By Stephanie Meyers Twilight is a book written by Stephanie Meyers it is considered a romance, but with a lack of character depth and without those characters having many redeeming qualities it is hard to classify it as such. Twilight is the story of a 17 years who move in with her dad and fall in love with a vampire. There are many poor qualities in this book including Bella the main character, the stalker like qualities of Edward, the fact no one in the town notices the vampires, terrible parents, and a horrible villain. Bella is the main character and the narrator of the story she is explained to be pale and that s about it. Bella is a girl who apparently has always had to be the adult in her mother daughter relationship, but yet she completely lacks common sense. Numerous times in the book her life is threatened and it appears as if she actually enjoys it. She had absolutely no preservation of life it as if she thinks she is invisible with being the most week character in the book. At one point in the book she literally passes out from seeing blood and yet other times she rushing into danger with out a second thought. The book tries to play her actions as brave but they come across as childish and not thought out. Another problem is she is completely ok with Edwards s horrible behavior towards her. He literally was sneaking into watch her sleep and she thought it was sweet. She is wanted to portrayed as one of the most mature people in the story but she comes across as clueless ... • 44. The Role Of Director Of The New Zealand Aid Programme Essay I write to you in the hopes you will consider my application for the role of the Director of the New Zealand Aid Programme (NZAP). Studying the inconsistent implementation of past aid policies, I will use the Pacific to outline my vision for the direction of future aid administration. Guided by the principle purpose of New Zealand s first independent aid organisation, NZAID, and in keeping with international aid trends, my vision for NZAP would work towards one clear goal: the elimination of poverty. New Zealand aid policies have been reorganised over the past few decades, influenced by both international practices and domestic politics. Effected in the years following World War II as many Pacific nations gained independence, early aid approaches aligned with global development policies and bilateral structures proposed by the Colombo Plan (Banks et al., 2012). New Zealand aid provision increased through the 1970s, before dropping rapidly between the 1980s and 1990s with the adoption of neoliberal policies, deviating to focus on the implementation of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the 2000s (Banks et al., 2012). Helen Clark s reigning Labour Government, established NZAID in 2002, adopting policies which sought to rectify the damage wrought during the lost decade when National s neoliberal policies saw the introduction of Structural Adjustment Policies (SAPs) and drastic reduction of New Zealand s Official Development Assistance (ODA) (Banks et al., 2012; ... • 45. Pursuing Doctoral Studies For Academic Excellence Essay I am mostly interested in pursuing doctoral studies to achieve my ultimate goal to become a prolific researcher as well as an inspiring, knowledgeable university level teacher. Consequently, in the short term, my goal is to gain knowledge and skills related to research and teaching especially during my PhD program. Additionally, in the long run, I will spend most of my time practicing the knowledge and skills that I will have already acquired by teaching classes and seminars, doing research projects, as well as writing qualified academic articles and books. I will dedicate most of the time that I have after gaining a Doctoratedegree in Business to the advancement of the academic excellence. In the meantime, I realize that at the moment my business knowledge is predominantly empirical gained mostly from my background experience both professional and academic (MBA). It is wide in nature as it covers many aspects of business practices. Yet, I miss the depth of the business knowledge. Therefore, my understanding on a more theoretical background of business and economic phenomena is limited. Pursuing a doctoral study would undoubtedly be necessary for me to enhance my understanding, particularly in terms of theory and concept. It is not only in terms of my comprehension of the subjects per se but also in terms of skills necessary in theory building and research capability. Those are, I deem, very critical elements in academic excellence. Moreover, I believe, all of these are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Consequences Of Drinking And Driving In The United States The deadliest drunk driving accident in the U.S. occurred in 1988 on Interstate 71 in Kentucky when a drunk driver with a BAC level of .24 g/dL caused a head on collision with a school bus. The crash and ensuing fire killed 27 people (most of them children) and injured 34 others (Van Tuyl). In this essay the things that will be discussed is the consequences of drunk driving, accidents caused by drunk driving, casualties caused by drunk driving, and how community service should be the consequence for drunk driving instead of having the driver s license taken away for a year. • 47. Studying The Chemistry And The Types Of Macro Invertebrates In previous studies, studying the chemistry and the types of macro invertebrates that live in a pond or stream can indicate how clean the water is; according to the North Carolina State university water quality group, stoneflies like water rich in dissolved oxygen, cold in temperature and flowing through rocks (Osmond watersheds page 1). In this lab, we went to two streams, cherry creek and bear creek. We took physical Measurements like the width, depth, description of substrate and the site. This was done for the upper, middle, and lower transect. and chemical measurements of the streams like measuring pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, dissolved O2, and dissolved solids. We also counted the macro invertebrates we found and then we Identified the ones we found. With the data that we collected, we hope to find out how does the water affect the types of macro invertebrates found in the streamwhich brings up my hypothesis which is The more dissolved O2 found in the water, we will find bioindicators that indicate clean water. I predict if there is high amounts of O2 dissolved, then there will be presence of bio indicators that only live in clean water. Our variables are water quality as our independent and our dependent is the macro invertebrates. MATERIALS AND METHODS To start off the lab, we went to cherry creek first, which is located on Speer and larimer. Then the following week, went to bear creek which was located on Estes St. The controlled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This report will define a lease, the types, and benefits. While illustrating the difference between a lessee and the lessor, showing the implantations of tax benefits each party will be able to partake in. The third aspect that will be covered is the written agreement between the parties, and how these terms can be self defining as to what type of leasein which the parties are agreeing to. A lease is a legal document outlining the terms under which one party agrees to rent property from another party. A lease guarantees the lessee (the renter) use of an asset and guarantees the lessor (the property owner) regular payments from the lessee for a specified number of months or years. Both the lessee and the lessor must uphold the terms of the contract for the lease to remain valid. (Investopedia) With in the contracts the details of the agreement are laid out, for both the lessee and lessor. Within these documents and who they are written can determine what type of lease they are. Lease Types There are in general two types of leases. The first would be a capital lease which is a lease in which the lessor only finances the leased asset, and all other rights of the ownership transfer to the lessee (Accounting Tools).
