The History of Boeing Company
Company History:
The Boeing Company is the largest aerospace company in the world, thanks to its 1997 merger with
McDonnell Douglas Corporation and its 1996 purchase of the defense and space units of Rockwell
International Corporation. The corporation is the world s number one maker of commercial jetliners
and military aircraft. Boeing has more than 9,000 commercial aircraft in service worldwide, including
the 717 through 777 families of jets and the MD 80, MD 90, and MD 11. In the defense sector, the
company makes military aircraft, including fighter, transport, and attack aircraft; helicopters; and
missiles. In addition to its position as the nation s top NASA contractor and the leader of the U.S.
industry team for the International ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Boeing also purchased Varney Airlines, which began operation in 1925 and won almost every mail
contract it applied for until it became overextended and had financial difficulties.
1929 34: United Era
With the addition of National Air Transport, Boeing s airline holdings formed the original United Air
Lines. In 1928 all these companies were organized under a holding company called the Boeing
Aircraft and Transportation Company. In 1929 a larger holding company was formed, the United
Aircraft and Transportation Company. Included in this group were the United airlines and Stout
Airlines; Pratt Whitney (engines); Boeing, Sikorsky, Northrop, and Stearman (manufacturers); and
Standard Steel Prop and Hamilton Aero Manufacturing (propellers). Boeing was made chairman of the
company and Fred Rentschler of Pratt Whitney was named president.
Boeing and Rentschler became extremely wealthy in this reorganization by exchanging stock with the
holding company in a method similar to J.P. Morgan s controversial capital manipulation. They
multiplied their original investments by a factor of as much as 200,000 times. It was, however, entirely
legal at the time. In 1933 the government conducted an investigation of fraud and other illegal
practices in the airline industry. Boeing was called upon to testify and explain his windfall profits
before a Senate investigating

Relationship Between Sociology And Anthropology
We can say that the study of human beings can be the study of a lifetime. Great thinkers have spent
years getting some answers to questions about human behavior. Today there are many fields and sub
fields of study that engage in trying to understand humankind.
In this lesson, we will discuss the nature and beginnings of sociology and anthropology.
At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:
1. discuss the nature and history of sociology and anthropology; and
2. differentiate sociology and anthropology.
3. identify the scope of sociology
Definitions of Sociology and Anthropology
Sociology is a scientific study of human society, its origin, structure, function and direction.
Anthropology is a social science that is concerned with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Examples of these great men who did the observations and recordings are Herodotus and Tacitus.
However, it was only in the 18th century that a codified study of cultures began. The study of culture
of other people has been done by Westerners that brought forth to the racist theories about the overall
advancement of different groups.
Sociology has been practiced by the Greeks also, when they studied their surrounding society. It was
in the 19th century when sociology was recognized as an academic discipline and became a part of the
university curriculum.
The word Sociology was taken from two foreign words:
 Socius a Latin term which means companion or associate
 Logos a Greek term for study
Nature of Sociology
The nature of sociology is identified by the following characteristics as enlisted by Robert Bierstadt in
his book Social Order.
1. Sociology is a social science not a physical science. It concentrates on man, his social behavior,
social activities and social life.
2. Sociology is the categorical not a normative discipline. As a categorical discipline, it is a body of
knowledge about human society, and not a system of ideas and

Ralph Waldo Emerson Quotes
Quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no
path and leave a trail describes me because I liked to venture into the unknown, the thought of not
knowing the outcome of your choice always intrigued me. The idea of carving your own path or
choices and leaving it for theirs take is fascinating. From an early childhood, I loved doing things my
own way, not because I wanted to be ignorant, rude or stubborn. I just want to take my own way,
taking an obvious path has no rewarding factor, no excitement or thrill. For example, during
kindergarten, I was assigned a simple task to bring in something you liked and share it with a class.
Normal you have several common option of bringing a favorite toy or a book. I in the other had taken
my neighbor s dog without asking the owner. My school was a walking distance so I walked with the
dog and came into class with the dog. The teacher was concerned with me because I managed to sneak
in a dog into the class. Of course, I got in trouble but in my mind I was just following my teachers
request to bring something I liked. I got a hundred percent on the assigned even thought I was in a
huge amount of trouble. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ancient Greek Eyeshadow
Eyeshadow is a cosmetic product used everyday by millions. It also has a way it is made. Eyeshadow
has been used throughout history, and was very common among the ancient Greeks, Romans, and
Egyptians.
In ancient Greece, eye shadow was known as fucus, and Greek women wore shades of green and blue
made from gemstones like lapis lazuli and malachite. From there, the custom spread throughout the
world and down through history. As early as 10,000 BC, in ancient Egypt, men and women used
scented oils and ointments to clean and soften their skin and mask body odor. Dyes and paints were
used to color the skin, body and hair. They rouged their lips and cheeks, stained their nails with henna,
and lined their eyes and eyebrows heavily with kohl. Kohl

Mike s Market Site that is a Visual Representation of a...
There are currently sites dedicated to farmers markets, however, these sites are focused more on
informing the community of their locations and products than actual sales. This leaves in opening in
the market to capitalize on people s desire to eat locally and organically. In addition to being for
mainly informational purposes these sites are visually unappealing. Sites like
farmersmarketonline.com have an appearance like that of Craigslist.org and are reminiscent of the
days of the early internet. The market can be captured by offering consumers a site that resembles a
real farmers market visually. SWOT Analysis Strengths
1. Knowledge of marketing and markets is a strength held by the individual involved in the start of
Mike s Market. This strength will help with the formation of the company since one of the price points
for users of the site is marketing expertise and help with online sales. This strength will also come into
play in creating initial buzz about the site to drive traffic and increase awareness.
2. Logistics and transportation support is another critical part of the online farmers market so that
users can concentrate on growing and selling their goods. The starter of the site has over five years in
logistics and transportation ranging from local shipping to international shipping.
3. The passion to see this site from an idea to reality is a strength possessed by the sites founder. This
passion will aid in forming bonds with initial farmers and creating

Mel Gibson s Soliloquy Comparison
To be, or not to be is one of the greatest soliloquy William Shakespeare has ever wrote; and there s
many ways it was rehearsed. I watched 3 versions of this soliloquy, Kenneth Branagh s version, Ethan
Hawke s version and, Mel Gibson s version. They were all very different from each other and unique
in their own ways. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the most
effective and I will explain why.
Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point. Branagh s
version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience (Claudius and
Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much rehearsed instead of laid
back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight
Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he is
alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no music
needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and crypt, and that
can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye level) angle with multiple
camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where Gibson was. Then, it was mostly
close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb. That makes the audience know get a
sense of his facial expressions. They also track him sometimes when Gibson s walking around the
tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one place to show his whole body. While filming this, there
was many short breaks to show the bones and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also
at the end of his soliloquy, it went faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because
Gibson seems really consumed with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his
lines and at the end, he puts his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to
film it in a tomb and surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s

Elements of Religious Traditions
All religions and beliefs are different. Some religions share the same characteristics, while some do
not. Religion varies from culture to culture. Certain religions worship a divine being, have a sacred
book, or commandments which they follow. Shinto, for example, does not have a set of
commandments, nor does it preach a moral code; Zen Buddhism does not worship a divine being; and
many tribal religions have no written sacred scripture (Molloy, 2010).
There are three main religions that believe in a divine being (God), have a sacred book, and follow
certain commandments. The first religion, Judaism, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sacred space is associated with the center of the entire universe, where power and holiness are
strongest and where we can go to renew our own strength. In native religions, sacred space may
encompass a great mountain, a volcano, a valley, a lake, a forest, a single large tree, or some other
striking natural site (Molloy, 2010). Sacred space can also be constructed into a symbolic shape, like a
circle, square, or a group of stones, like the Stonehenge in England. Sacred space can also be a church,
synagogue, or any place of worship depending on the religion and its beliefs.
Some native religions see everything in the universe as being alive, a concept known as animism. The
life force (Latin: anima ) is present in everything and is especially apparent in living things trees,
plants, birds, animals, and human beings and in the motion of water, the sun, the moon, clouds, and
wind. But life force can also be present in apparently static mountains, rocks, and soil. Other native
religions, while more theistic, see powerful spirits in nature, which temporarily inhabit natural objects
and manifest themselves there (Molloy,2010). Many religions use things, like water, mountains, fire,
trees, the sun, the moon, and other things in nature as a symbolism in their religious beliefs; some
even have statues that have symbolic meaning in their religions. For example, water,

Film Analysis Of The Film Rabbit Proof Fence
In the film, Rabbit Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce, and set in the 10930s, one important idea is
the physical and emotional journey which involves discrimination, courage, determination and family.
This journey is experienced by three mixed race Aboriginal girls called Molly, Daisy and Gracie.
Molly is the protagonist, she is a leader and a decision maker who does not falter and uses her survival
skill and strength of will to overcome the challenges of her journey while looking after her sister
Daisy and cousin Gracie. A variety of film techniques is used in important settings to help the
audience understand the idea and how the film is effective as a whole. One of the most important
settings in the film is when the main character (the protagonist) Molly Craige is introduced to the
audience when she is being taught how to hunt with her family before being forcefully taken by the
authority in order to be made white. This scene is effective for two reasons. The first reason is that it
tells the audience about the character Molly. The audience learns that the character is a young half
caste aboriginal girl who lives in Jigalong, Australia with her family and is becoming independent.
The audience knows this because they see she is learning useful survival skills from her mother and
grandmother, the important skills of Aboriginal culture such as tracking. This is important to the rest
of the film because she is learning to provide for a family and herself. also, Molly then uses these
skills to outsmart Moodoo (an Aboriginal tracker that works for Moore River), This girl is clever. She
wants to go home. Furthermore, her skills are used to look after Gracie and Daisy on their harsh
journey from Moore River in which she travels 1500 miles (2000km) through unfamiliar territory to
reach their home and family in North Western Australia, with authorities closing in on them all the
way. This is the main reason why this scene is effective. The second reason why the scene is effective
is that uses filmmaking techniques really well. For example, the director uses the technique of
symbolism. We see this when a wide shot is used showing Gracie holding the fence and Molly asking
where the fence goes to. This is

Bob Fosse s Dance
The music changes now as the musicians start to play a march. The dancers then remove the flower
from their hats pull their hats down low to resemble a soldiers headwear. In addition, they turn their
canes upside down holding them as if they were guns and start marching off stage. Simultaneously, the
lights turn dark blue on stage and the dancers faces turn serious. Their once extravagant and
lighthearted movement is now stiff and somewhat serious. The audience however, laughs at this shift
in theme. All the dancers march off stage except the center girl, she continues to march in a circle
making faces and poking fun at the others. Finally, she leaves the stage laughing loudly and
dramatically at herself. She comes on one more time only to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Those created by John Tiller and the other created by Laurence Tiller. Elswit explains that even though
the groups were led by different people they both wanted to produce the same outcome, unison. The
signature synchronization became a potent image of Weimar visual culture (Elswit, 51). Fosse s
choreography was primarily based on the principle of unison within this piece. Elswit argues that the
group was created as a way of responding to the industrialization of America. The girls were often
mistaken for being an American group because of this aspect. As a result the choreographic elements
were inspired by the creation of factories. Fosse s choreography was inspired by these events as he
adhered strict machine like formations of dancers within the piece. Each formation was linear and
showed order. Elswit also says that the use of the term Girls to refer to female dancers (Elswit, 52),
was also selected in order to exaggerate the rise of mass produced products for them to buy (Elswit,
52). Elswitt sheds light onto the reasoning behind Fosse s decisions in relation to

SCID Essay
Genetic testing has found various genes in which a mutation can occur to cause SCID. These genes
include the JAK3, IL7R, ADA, RAG1, RAG2, DCLRE1C, LIG4, and IL2RG genes. (Lebet et al.
2008) The cytogenic locations of these genes in the order that they are presented above are as follows:
19p13.11 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017e), 5p13.2 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017d),
20q13.12 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017a), 11p12 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017g),
11p12 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017h), 10p13 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017b),
13q33.3 (NIH Genetics Home Reference, 2017f), and Xq13.1 (NIH Genetics Home Reference,

The proper functioning of the IL2RG gene is vital for the continuous development of immune cells,
specifically the T cells and B cells mentioned above. (Cavazzana et al. 2016)
The IL 2R receptor triggers the maturation, activation, and homeostasis of the T cells. The
development, differentiation, and survival of B cells is activated by the IL 4R receptor via the IRS2,
PI3K, and STAT6 signaling cascade. The IL 7R receptor controls the differentiation between the T
cells and the B cells. The activation of natural killer (NK) cells, direction of T cell response, and
guidance of B cells comes from the IL 15R receptor. Finally, the IL 21R receptor amplifies the T cell
and B cell response to antigens present in the body. (Mou et al. 2017) One or a multiple of these
processes could be affected by a mutation causing X linked SCID. As many as fifteen percent of cases
involve defects of the IL 7R receptor. (Lebet et al. 2008)
Multiple types of mutations can occur within the IL2RG gene. These include point mutations,
deletions and insertions, and splice mutations. The deletions and insertions are seen on both a
microscopic scale (one exon) or a macroscopic scale (four or more exons.) Five major locations for
point mutations include cDNA 684T, cDNA 690T, cDNA 691T, cDNA 868A, and cDNA 879T, all of
which are CG dinucleotides. Mutations of exon3( 15)g, the branch point adenosine, is also a common
mutation. 26% of all cases of X linked SCID are

Canada s National Health System
Canada
Historical factors play a fundamental role in the evolution of a nation s health system. (Starr P., 1982)
The healthcare in Canada on 18th century was based in independent physicians who provided services
at the patient s homes. Hospitals were associated with the poor and were avoided due to the lack of
care provided. Although the government s role in healthcare through the 19th century was limited, the
first hospital established in Quebec in the year 1639. Furthermore, the first medical schools were
opened in the 1820s (Warren P., 2008). The nation s growth created a simultaneous growth in the
hospital setting. After the opening of the Montreal General Hospital on 1819, the education of the
physicians and the patient care began to shift to the hospitals. (Bernier J, 2003). After the First World
War and the occurrence of the infectious pandemics, the federal government created the national
hygiene grants program to fund the efforts for coordinated public health. The first school of public
health was opened in 1920. (Bernier J, 2003). It is worth mentioned that Frederick Banting and J.J.R.
Macleod of the University of Toronto won the Nobel Prize in 1923 for discovering insulin. (The Nobel
Prize in Physiology or Medicine 1923) The economic downturn around 1930 created the need of
change and embraced the ideas of a public health system and an active role of government.
After the World War II, Hospital Services Plan was implemented. The program provided

How Does Antigone Make Mundane Decisions
Any choice, from the bold defiances of the protagonists to the mundane decisions of small side
characters, have behind them a whole host of factors. This is also true for the choices made by the
casts of both Antigone and the adjustment bureau, in which a compound of factors all results in
choices for characters, though the factors are drastically different. In Antigone, it s a series of
individual past events that convinces a character to make a decision. These decisions then themselves
acts as contributing factors to a different characters decisions. For example, during the falling action
of the play, Creon says, Now I am on my way! Come, each of you, take up axes, make for the high
ground, over there, quickly! I and my better judgment has come around to this I shackled her, I ll set

I am afraid... It s best to keep the established laws to the very day we die. In this quote, Creon decides
to go back on his will, which is already rare for such a stubborn character, but he also does this in
order to save who he considers an enemy to his states, even seeming to repentant of it. However, this
is not random. In fact, it was actually caused by three main factors: the prophesies of Tiresias
revealing that he and his city and family will suffer if he continues on his immoral path, the consul of
the leader, a sort of mentor character, to give in to his advice and unbury her, and the popular support
of Antigone over Creon. Thus, it was these three factors that were more or less independent of each
other that weighed on Creon, and this caused him to make his choice. By contrast of this, The
Adjustment Bureau holds every decision as a calculated part of a plan, and is carefully plotted out to it
occur by fate, with the intention that each factor to a choice is simply to coerce a decision out of a

Differences Between Pitheciidae And The Remaining...
Opazo et al. (2006) conducted an analysis and found that among the six loci used in their study, two of
them supported the hypothesis which suggests that the first split was between Pitheciidae and the
remaining platyrrhines, which grouped Atelidae and Cebidae together (Chavez et al., 1999) and one of
the loci supported the hypothesis of Ateliedae and Pitheciidae being sister group of the family Cebidae
(Canavez et al., 1999). These results therefore indicate that there was an initial radiation in the early
Miocene which separated the three families from one another. According to Opazo et al (2006), these
separations occurred over a relatively short period of geological time. Also, several species of Ateles
were represented and analysed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
279). Generally speaking, these divergence times support the known New World monkey fossil
record. Palaentological evidence thus far describes Doliochocebus as a fossil of cebine, in the clade
that includes extant members of genus Saimiri (Szalay and Delson, 1979). Based on estimations of the
origin of the subfamily Cebinae which was 18 million years ago, this fossil was in fact the stem of the
subfamily. Also, Stirtonia was considered to be an alouattinin fossil (Szalay and Delson, 1979) and
according to their results the split between Alouatta and the remaining members of the family occurred
16 million years ago (Opazo et al., 2006 p. 279), a result that also agrees with the fossil record.
Furthermore, the fossil pitheciid Cebupithecia is one of the most complete skeletons of a fossil
platirrhine and believes to be dated near the time of the most recent common ancestor of the total
group. By using the molecular clock, the split between the lineage that eventually led to Callicebus
and the lineage leading to the other pitheiid genera occurred after the divergence of Callicebus but
before the divergence of Pithecia, Cacajao, and Chiropotes (Opazo et al,. 2006, p. 294). Wildman et al.
(2009) however, inferred that Pitheciidae is the sister taxon to the other two platyrrhine families,
Cebidae and Ateliedae. Their data confidently supports this hypothesis and is

The Importance Of Millennials In The Workplace
A large number of millennials are at the stage in life where they are entering the competitive
workforce. However, they are often labeled with characteristics such as lazy, self entitled, and
narcissistic. This, in many instances, leaves businessmen questioning the work ethic of this younger
generation. As employers need members of staff to further or better their businesses, they face
working with this generation touted as larger than the Baby Boomer generation that is now entering
senior adulthood. Many may worry that the differences in attitudes are too vast; however, employers
should not be hesitant to accept millennials because they possess advanced technological skills, are
open minded, and are ready for challenges.
Millennials, who are also known as Generation Y, are categorized as an immensely large and diverse
group. Understanding Millennials in the Workplace by Shele Bannon, Kelly Ford, and Linda Meltzer
states that Numbering between 50 million and 80 million (depending upon the definition), Millennials
represent a sizable population cohort (61). With a large population, it is recognized that their
generation is coming into the workforce with a great impact. The authors further state, They account
for 10% to 15% of the U.S. labor force, and they are currently entering the lower management ranks
(Bannon et al. 61). To understand the hesitation when employing millennials, one must observe the
way in which society views this generation and take those

Mir34a Essay
MiR34a inhibits Aβ fibril uptake and autophagy flux
Regarding the compromised capability of Aβ clearance in AD, we suspected that miR34a may be an
indispensable player. To validate this, Aβ42 fibrils were prepared from Aβ42 monomer ex vivo and
used to treat glioma A172 and U251 cells. Aβ uptake was blocked by both transient transfection of a
miR34a mimic and stable miR34a overexpression (Supplementary Fig. 1B, Fig. 1A), but enhanced by
anti miR34a (Fig. 1B), indicating that miR34a suppressed Aβ phagocytosis in these cells. The fact that
enhanced and decreased levels of miR34a correlated with corresponding changes in intracellular Aβ

Since mature autophagosome fuse with lysosomes to become autolysosome in the very late stage of
autophagy, we asked whether miR34a could retard autophagosome lysosome fusion by examining the
co localization of EGFP LC3 and LysoTracker Red, a specific dye for live cell lysosome labeling [47].
As expected, EGFP LC3 puncta were dramatically reinforced in miR34a mimic transfected cells but
did not co localize with LysoTracker Red. This was acting similar to cells treated with bafilomycin A1
(Baf), which blocked autophagosome lysosome fusion. In contrast, E64D treatment induced a
remarkable increased EGFP LC3 puncta, which were well co localized with LysoTracker Red (Fig.
1D). Since lysosome associated membrane glycoprotein 2 (LAMP2) is also critical for autophagosome
lysosome fusion [48], we examined the effect of miR34a on LAMP2 expression using WB analysis.
MiR34a caused an unexpected increase of LAMP2 (Supplementary Fig. 1C), suggesting that the
mechanism by which miR34a blocked autophagosome lysosome fusion was not due to LAMP2. As
LAMP2 is mostly important for chaperone mediated autophagy, its increase might be a compensation
for the decrease in macroautophagy. In summary, the above results reinforce that miR34a
compromised Aβ degradation by, at least, blocking autolysosome formation.

Accounts Receivable Office Products Depot
The interview with Colin Smith, from Office Products Depot, meant I was able to identify the
accounts receivable subsystem they used and their accounts receivable management. I focussed on
their policies for the offering and checking of credit, managing credit levels, charging the credit
customers, receiving payment from credit customers and the general management of credit customers.
I will be using the information from the interview with Colin as well as information from fictitious
accounts receivable to explain their policies.
When Office Products Depot decides to potentially offer credit to a customer, they check credit ratings
and follow policies to help them decide if they should ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Credit limits are set to manage the spending of their customers, this way Office Products Depot can
ensure that customers aren t purchasing too many goods. This means that if the customer is unable to
pay their account Office Products Depot loses say $2000 (a company s credit limit) rather than
$10000. To set these credit limits, Office Products Depot estimates the amount of money they estimate
the customer will spend over a two month period. This number is then rounded to the nearest $500 to
make recording credit limits easier. Customer payment of money owed is managed by the same
salesperson that the customer first dealt with, as they receive commission based on money received by
their particular customers. The salesperson is often in direct contact with the customer to make sure
the credit is being paid off. However, sometimes the credit limit of a particular customer can be
increased, if they have paid well in the past. An example of this is Jones Stationery, who is $300 over
their credit limit. When Office Products Depot sends invoices to their customers, they send a separate
tax invoice for each provided service. This makes the customer more aware of the each individual
charge. Monthly statements are also sent out aswell. Refunds and reductions are also given
occasionally to customers, to maintain a good relationship, and fix incorrectly recorded charges. An

On the brink of discovery there is a thrilling glow of hope and promise. The hope of a betterment of

threshold of opportunity and anticipation, and a booming era for scientists and inventors alike.
Between 1900 and 1920 a plethora of modern day conveniences and concepts were brought to life.

Radium Corporation opened their first factory in Orange, NJ and began making glow in the dark
wristwatches in 1917 in response to a growing military demand for a time piece that could be read in
the absence of light and the harshest of conditions. This glowing substance was developed by German
scientists and was the result of chemical interactions between radium salts and a zinc compound.
Blum recorded that when the radium salts were mixed with the zinc compound, the particles emitted
by the radium caused the zinc atoms to vibrate. This vibration created a buzz of energy, visible as a
faint shiver of light.3 (p180) After WWI ended, glowing dial faces were all the trend. The U.S.
Radium Corporation hired young women to do the work of painting the delicate numerals on the faces
of the watch dials. Dr. Claudia Clark, a professor of history at the University of Michigan estimates
that approximately 4,000 girls, as young as fifteen, were watch dial painters.4 These women worked
in studios where they mixed their own paint. They worked more than five days a week, painting 250
dials per day, and earning around $20 each week.3(p181) Maggie Fergusson, a literary advisor to the
Royal Society of Literature, found they were paid up to three times what they might have earned
working in a factory.5 They employed a method called lip pointing to procure an extremely fine and
pointed tip to the end of their brushes. With each number, the women would put the paint brush

Paper Money In The United States
The history of paper money in the United States is a fascinating topic. For much of history, money
itself was valuable, because it was made of gold or silver or another precious resource. In order to use
paper money, a government must have a way of backing it, or giving it a perceived value that people
can trust. One particular thing to consider in this broad topic is how this system affected national debt.
The government started this system to pay off debt, but in reality it only caused more debt.
Before the Federal Reserve, banks operated much differently and private banks were allowed to print
money. Private bank notes were okay, but they were easy to counterfeit, did not have equal values, and
were not required to be taken as payment ( Abraham ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve these problems the government took control of the economy and began issuing its own
money, and then, to give this money actual value, they made it legal tender ( Abraham Lincoln and
Civil War Finance. ). Lincoln thought that although this change may have been unconstitutional, the
secession of the south was more unconstitutional and the money system was needed to restore unity.
Because the south had seceded, the southern representatives, who had been the main opposition to
governmental money, were gone and they could now pass legislation that allowed for this new
currency system ( Abraham Lincoln and Civil War Finance. ). This new system allowed the
government to pay off $500 million in debt ( Abraham Lincoln and Civil War Finance. ). The bankers
at the time resisted the change at first, but later accepted it as a good system ( Abraham Lincoln and
Civil War Finance. ). However, after this original payoff of debt the debt went up enormously The
History of U.S. Public Debt The Civil War (1861 1865). ). This change was from $65 million in 1860
to $1.1 billion in 1863, then $2.6 billion in 1865 ( The History of U.S. Public Debt The Civil War

Plato The Shackles
In Book 1 of Plato s The Republic, Socrates asks Cephalus about the difficulty of old age, as Cephalus
has reached the threshold of death and is therefore suited to speak upon age. Cephalus explains that
older people tend to be more peaceful because youthful desires like sex, partying, and drinking
constrain many people to temporal pleasure, but age releases them from those shackles. These
youthful desires are later treated as shackles that constrain many people to temporal pleasures. By
introducing these metaphorical shackles in the first discussion of The Republic, Plato foreshadows and
parallels the cave allegory that appears in Book 7 (Plato 3). In the cave allegory, people are chained
inside a cave and their knowledge is limited to only what they can see: the images of shadows casted
by statues. But once a philosopher enters, the prisoners are released from the shackles, exposed to the
light, and they themselves become philosophers. But the process does not stop there; the new
philosophers adopt altruism, going back to the cave to free the other prisoners ... Show more content

and enlightening. But money is the same item that lures people into the chains of obsession. So those
wishing to enjoy a pleasurable old age free from glutinous desire must maintain wealth. But wealth

Culture is something developed over time by a group of people not just created by one person.
Referring back to gender role in society this was not something that humans were born with but it was
created and reinforced over long period of time. Now more recently we can see these behaviors
changing where women work more, men help with chores, and the roles are starting to merge. Culture
also has a way of shaping one s view and values in the world. Culture also shapes our behavior and
our reason for doing certain things which is known as cultural behavior. The difficult thing about
cultures is that no two cultures are the same so it is not a one size fits all. You have to take time to
learn each culture and some cultures you will fit in better into than others. This is like a work place
have that has developed a culture that constantly changes as new employees come and old one leave.
If you are more laid back then you will fit into a work culture that is more flexible then one that is
tightly structured.

Cinderella And Cinderell Two Versions Of Cinderella
I m sure you all remember watching or reading the tales of Cinderella as a child. I know I do, I grew
up wearing plastic heels and itchy princess dresses wishing for my dream prince. Through reading
various versions of this magical tale, however, I have been struck by the different cultural values
represented in the story and how that differed with the Disney version I grew up with. Two versions of
the story that stood out to me were The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault and perhaps one the
earliest versions, Yeh Shen, an Asian fairy tale written by Duan Cheng Shi. But before we dive into
these mystical tales, ask your fairy godmother for a sparkly gown and a pair of glass slippers, because
we have a ball to attend.
The Little Glass Slipper, written by Charles Perrault in 1697 is commonly known to have laid the
ground work for the Disney version of Cinderella. This folktale came about in 17th century Paris
which is where it receives its original tile Cendrillon. The tale encompasses many cultural values that
evidently link back to the time in which it was written. The story represents French values of society,
monarchy and the significance of beauty to men as well as women. This tale represents the social
classes of the 17th century in the matter that it differentiates between the upper class and the lower
class. Like the step mother in the tale, upper class women often were selfish and took charge of the
family. Cinderella on the other hand was not so

By purposely not using murdered in place of slain, he creates an effect on the audience to believe that
the killing of Caesar wasn t brutal and that it was for a good cause. The audience cherish Rome, so
Brutus clarifies that Rome is more important than Caesar. Brutus persuades the audience by speaking
for the good of Rome. His repetition of the personal pronoun of I shows that he is once again
distancing himself from the blame. Brutus uses this third person narrative of himself effectively in
order to convince the crowd that even if he wasn t Brutus, the loyal and trustworthy friend of Caesar,

Theory Of Knowledge Essay 2014
„That which is accepted as knowledge today is sometimes discarded tomorrow.
Consider knowledge issues raised by this statement in two areas of knowledge.
To what Extent is new knowledge better than old knowledge and therefore can knowledge be
permanent?
To answer this question, one first has to consider that knowledge as such varies on the point of
perspective, since there are many ways of knowing. As for example Reasoning and Sense Perception.
Reasoning is something we use whenever we tend to make a decision, therefore the interpretation of
the word Reason can vary in the slightest form. Our sense of reason is usually decided by our instinct
as we decide almost unconsciously depending on the sort of experience we have had before. ... Show

For example in 2009, the swine Flu was devised worldwide. Later given facts proved that the amount
of deaths caused by the Swine Flu measured annually were similar to any other of a normal Flu. 1This
proves my point that scandals are devised to the wider public to hide real problems. The modern
media makes this very easy, as they seem to push the importance of scandals. This can be linked to the
area of knowledge History, as it might have been the case with past incidences, and therefore how do
we know if they are correct?
Today is a time measurement representing the present. This makes me wonder what knowledge exists
today? Will it be permanent? To what extent is knowledge temporary? As we have seen in the past,
knowledge we have gained previously proves to be wrong over a certain amount of time. If we look
back for example people used to believe that the earth was flat. This was predominantly because the
technology was not there to research further. So basically a lack of technology hinders us from
knowing everything. Can this be applied to us? It is often said that the more you learn the less you
know, which conveys much the same problem as the essay. For example myself, when I was younger,
I used to believe that colours were just given by nature. But now after some time in Physics lessons, I
realised that colours are nothing more than the visual perception from the light reflection depending
on its wavelengths. How do we know we can trust the

Examples Of Symbolic Interactionism Of Marijuana
Marijuana is a very well known and commonly used drug. Yet, there are many different attitudes and
meanings attached to it. So why is there such a variation in people s attitudes towards marijuana. This
can be explained and understood by using the symbolic interactionism theory. Marijuana is a very
controversial topic among Americans and much research has been done regarding it. The Pew
Research Center has gathered information on the opinions Americans have towards the legalization of
marijuana. The data shows what percentage of Americans think it should be legal or not. There is also
data on reasons why they have their opinions and meanings toward marijuana. This data helps to
further understand and apply this theory to the use of marijuana.
Symbolic interactionism perspective is a theory that is used to study social life. To do this, this theory
relies on studying and observing the interactions among people and how they form meanings to things
from those interactions. Although, there is much more to this theory than that. Blumer, the man who
invented the term symbolic interactionism, presented three premises which help to understand this
theory. The first one is, people act a certain way towards things depending on their meaning for that
thing. The second premise is that we get meanings from social interaction, so we are taught meanings
or we witness them from others. Lastly, the third premise is that meanings are able to change because
people have the mental capacity to

The band have a very simple line of instruments that impacted a great amount of the generation. The

since the first song titled Smells Like Teen Spirit and the beginning lyrics being, Load up on guns,
bring your friends, It s fun to lose and to pretend, She s over bored and self assured, Oh no, I know a

comprehend what is being said in the song. Obviously one of their main hits Smells Like Teen Spirit is
placed at beginning of the album to get their fans hyped for the rest of album. The rest of the songs
flowed right into place. First of all, the album in my opinion exists to bring life to the youth and to
have their voices heard. This album can also exist due to the controversy of the album cover art with
the naked baby swimming after a dollar bill. People have theorized that it was the band s way to get
attention or the baby was seen as symbolism for greed. Another theory is the impact of money and

Essay on Animal Testing
Imagine being a rabbit; a vertebrate and warm blooded species. Hopping around an open field and
eating all greens. All of sudden, you were captured by an unknown human. You start to rattle around
your cage figuring out how to escape. About twenty five million and 30 million animals are exploited
in experiments; half are only used through education (Donna 7).
A 40% is applied in basic research, the 26% for drug development, a 20% are examined for products,
and the 14% that is left is applied on education and miscellaneous (Donna 5).
The inhumane cruelty affects the innocent creatures. Animals should only be used for education, and
research purposes. Therefore, regulations must increase on animal protection. Increasing policies ...

For instances, those involved in auctions and animals sold publicly are to keep records. On the
contrary, it does not support all animal rights; the law ought to emphasis those out in business too.
Beyond that, in 1976 adjustments were made in the amendment. In fact, this time it includes more
steps to those companies in the animal testing business (Donna 16). Each corporation is required to
register and keep records of the species. Again it had affected those who are employed in auctions,
operators, dealers, and exhibitors to be certified. Thus certified employees must submit an annual
report to congress. The reports helped the Congressmen keep track of the species; so living things
would not be mistreated. Moreover the act expanded dogs safety. Hounds were only acceptable for
breeders, security, hunting, and as house hold pets. But there is a catch to it; dog owners must provide
treatments (Donna 8). Signifying hounds would receive yearly check up on their satiability of well
nutrients. However the act was expanding, it excluded most of the rights towards animals. In addition
to the amendment, in 1985 it was re modified again. It incorporated the labs and the environment of
the organisms. The act demanded laboratories to provide exercise and a physical environment, to
balance the pain and stress for the species, and minimize the use of drugs (Donna 8). Despite the
reduction of drugs it does not improve the consumption towards the

Illustration As An Illustration
1. What is illustration?
It s very difficult to give a precise definition to the term illustration . Some people think of the
illustrated manuals from Ikea , while someone else thinks about the illustrated children s book by
Chris Haughton.
Illustration is a unique art form that is not defined by the media , but by its context. Illustrations bring
life into concepts and stories.
Whether they are created digitally or manually , illustrations can be both a masterful work of art as a

These illustrations are often briefed by an art director . Usually these contracts have also a very short
deadline, maybe even several days because magazines and newspapers often appear weekly or
monthly. The size can vary from a few small doodles to a great illustration spread across a double
page .
2. Publishing

Asgarda Tribe
The Asgarda Women Empowering Women
Who Are They?
The Asgarda is a group an all female assembly which was led by a self professed descendant of the
Amazon warriors. As you may know, legend has it that the Amazon tribe was for women only. Men
were not allowed to join, as they were mainly the reason for the union.
The revolutionary club belongs to Katerina Tarnovsa, a preschool instructing, award winning kick
boxer who founded the organization in early the 2000s. Katerina got her muse from the tribal customs
and beliefs of the Scythian (Ukraine) Amazons. They were exclusively a tribe of strong, bold women.
To say the least, they were intimidating and ferocious.
Tales of the Amazon women were expressed in stories about Alexander ... Show more content on

Nonetheless, the photo s validity were under question. Some did not believe that the Asgarda women
existed. Just so you know, they are real people with real circumstances.
Herbaut has spent many hours in the camp with the intent of capturing the true essence of the tribal,
braid wearing women, who were committed to the revolution.
More women started attending the camp during the summer for an intensive program of weapons
training and martial arts. If you are familiar with Bojovyi Hopak, you will find some of the techniques
which are used by the women of Asgarda.
Another leader, Jigor Kana, created the art of judo and taught groups of women to maximize their
strength and increase their awareness so that they may bring up sons who have warrior like qualities.
Katsuko Osaki was the first female in 1931 to earn a black belt in judo. Since the conception of
Asgarda, more than a thousand women have come to Katerina in hopes of discovering the life saving
techniques. This is the only program of its kind that is made specifically for women. They are taught
self defense, self worth, fitness, and health. The ideal is that all aspects of a woman should be
reviewed and not just one

Yeast Communication Lab
Purpose In this experiment, we were trying to find out how yeast cells manage to communicate and
thus mate asexually in order to produce offspring. In order for a message to be communicated, a signal
must be sent and then received by another being; this lab will prove how yeast cells go through this
communication process in order to produce a required response for the production of yeast.
Background Information: Both unicellular and multicellular organisms use cell communication in
order to elicit a response which helps an organism coordinate and respond to their environment.
Cellular communication can occur through direct contact, local signaling, or long distance signaling.
For a response to occur, a message much reach a receptor that ... Show more content on

This makes sense, as this is a very secure environment in which yeast can thrive. Although yeast can
reproduce when there is only one reproductive type present, best results are achieved when there is a
mix. It is always better to recombine DNA and increase genetic variability than to have many others
have the same DNA. It leads to a higher survival rate for the species, because one genetic defect
cannot wipe out the entire species. Based on our results we conclude that alpha type yeast has more of
the mating factor signal released by yeast cells to asexually reproduce because alpha type had a much
higher percentage of budding haploid cells. We also concluded that when alpha and a type cultures of
yeast are mixed they communicate by both chemical signals and direct contact to sexually reproduce
with each

Plan for Action to Help a Student
A. Necessary Leadership Action The leadership action that involves one or more groups of community
stakeholders is creating a team to create an action plan for one student that attendance has declined
and because of the number of missed days, academic achievement has also declined.
A1. Why Action is Necessary This action is necessary because the student involved is not showing
academic growth and having anxiety with attending school. Attendance has decreased because the
student does not want to attend school due to issues with the classroom teacher, as well as other
students within this class. Because of the attendance drop, this student s grades have also shown a
decline in all subject areas. The parents are requesting that the ... Show more content on

Once the plan is written, the specific resources will be developed along with who is responsible for
providing the resource.
B4. Use of Collegial Resources
Collegial resources that will be used will be dependent on what is included within the action plan. The
area director of curriculum and instruction, as well as the student s former administration team will be
asked to be a part of the group. The former administration team is important to include in the
development of the action plan because they can bring in resources that have worked within their own
school with this student. They can also provide insight on what strategies may not work when
developing the plan. The area director will be an important part of the team because she will be able to
offer resources that are used in other area schools. This will allow the team to create a variety of
strategies that may not be available within the student s school.
D1. Impact of Stakeholder Input
The stakeholder input impacted the execution of the plan because it gave the team an opportunity to
know what has worked in the past and what strategies were not as effective. This allowed strategies to
be eliminated or added to the plan. The parents provided information about what motivated the child
at home which was included in the plan which helped to achieve the goals. Having a team that was
collaborative and all a part of designing the plan helped

Attitudes Towards The American Dream
The phrase, the American Dream is a national ethos of the United States and the idea that clutched
many immigrants came to US in a deep emotional level. Having left their own countries means they
left not only their friends and family, but everything that identifies who they are. However, whether or
not they left their countries because of poverty, war, or civil or religious oppression, they believed that
in America, they could achieve a better quality of life if they work hard enough. It was their reason
and motivation to move. I, as an another immigrant who explored many countries and settled in the
US, can understand how they feel about the Dream. However, in the last decades, American attitudes
toward this idea has been reframed as the

Sociology has been practiced by the Greeks also, when they studied their surrounding society. It was in the 19th century when sociology was recognized as an academic discipline and became a part of the university curriculum. From an early childhood, I loved doing things my own way, not because I wanted to be ignorant, rude or stubborn. I just want to take my own way, taking an obvious path has no rewarding factor, no excitement or thrill. I believe that Mel Gibson s performance of To be, or not to be was the most effective and I will explain why. Starting with Kenneth Branagh s version, his version was simple and straight to the point. Branagh s version was less self reflective and more like he is talking to his hidden audience (Claudius and Polonius). There wasn t much emotion to his soliloquy and it sounded much rehearsed instead of laid back. But he does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this version, they tried to make it a more medieval vibe. Gibson is dressed almost like a knight Gibson is alone in a tomb reflecting on his thoughts. The tomb has low lighting, it s dark and he is alone in that tomb. It was also very quiet. His voice echoes in the whole tomb so there was no music needed because his voice is dramatic enough. In the tomb, there are a lot of bones and crypt, and that can symbolize death later on in the play. In his soliloquy, it was at a flat (eye level) angle with multiple camera shots. First, it was a long shot to show the audience where Gibson was. Then, it was mostly close up shots but still shows Gibson pacing around the tomb. That makes the audience know get a sense of his facial expressions. They also track him sometimes when Gibson s walking around the tomb but usually lets the camera stay in one place to show his whole body. While filming this, there was many short breaks to show the bones and crypt as Gibson is talking to them they were cuts. Also at the end of his soliloquy, it went faded into the next scene. This is my favorite out of all 3 because Gibson seems really consumed with the soliloquy, you can see that because he pauses in between his lines and at the end, he puts his end down in sorrow. I also like this version because they decided to film it in a tomb and surround him by death, which means he is really is contemplating whether it s worth living or ... Some religions share the same characteristics, while some do not. Religion varies from culture to culture. Certain religions worship a divine being, have a sacred book, or commandments which they follow. Shinto, for example, does not have a set of commandments, nor does it preach a moral code; Zen Buddhism does not worship a divine being; and many tribal religions have no written sacred scripture (Molloy, 2010). In native religions, sacred space may encompass a great mountain, a volcano, a valley, a lake, a forest, a single large tree, or some other striking natural site (Molloy, 2010). Sacred space can also be constructed into a symbolic shape, like a circle, square, or a group of stones, like the Stonehenge in England. Sacred space can also be a church, synagogue, or any place of worship depending on the religion and its beliefs. Some native religions see everything in the universe as being alive, a concept known as animism. The life force (Latin: anima ) is present in everything and is especially apparent in living things trees, plants, birds, animals, and human beings and in the motion of water, the sun, the moon, clouds, and wind. But life force can also be present in apparently static mountains, rocks, and soil. Other native religions, while more theistic, see powerful spirits in nature, which temporarily inhabit natural objects and manifest themselves there (Molloy,2010). Many religions use things, like water, mountains, fire, trees, the sun, the moon, and other things in nature as a symbolism in their religious beliefs; some even have statues that have symbolic meaning in their religions. • 9. Film Analysis Of The Film Rabbit Proof Fence In the film, Rabbit Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce, and set in the 10930s, one important idea is the physical and emotional journey which involves discrimination, courage, determination and family. This journey is experienced by three mixed race Aboriginal girls called Molly, Daisy and Gracie. Molly is the protagonist, she is a leader and a decision maker who does not falter and uses her survival skill and strength of will to overcome the challenges of her journey while looking after her sister Daisy and cousin Gracie. A variety of film techniques is used in important settings to help the audience understand the idea and how the film is effective as a whole. One of the most important settings in the film is when the main character (the protagonist) Molly Craige is introduced to the audience when she is being taught how to hunt with her family before being forcefully taken by the authority in order to be made white. This scene is effective for two reasons. The first reason is that it tells the audience about the character Molly. The audience learns that the character is a young half caste aboriginal girl who lives in Jigalong, Australia with her family and is becoming independent. The audience knows this because they see she is learning useful survival skills from her mother and grandmother, the important skills of Aboriginal culture such as tracking. This is important to the rest of the film because she is learning to provide for a family and herself. also, Molly then uses these skills to outsmart Moodoo (an Aboriginal tracker that works for Moore River), This girl is clever. She wants to go home. Furthermore, her skills are used to look after Gracie and Daisy on their harsh journey from Moore River in which she travels 1500 miles (2000km) through unfamiliar territory to reach their home and family in North Western Australia, with authorities closing in on them all the way. This is the main reason why this scene is effective. The second reason why the scene is effective is that uses filmmaking techniques really well. For example, the director uses the technique of symbolism. We see this when a wide shot is used showing Gracie holding the fence and Molly asking where the fence goes to. This is ... Elswit argues that the group was created as a way of responding to the industrialization of America. The girls were often mistaken for being an American group because of this aspect. After the First World War and the occurrence of the infectious pandemics, the federal government created the national hygiene grants program to fund the efforts for coordinated public health. The first school of public health was opened in 1920. (Bernier J, 2003). It is worth mentioned that Frederick Banting and J.J.R. This is also true for the choices made by the casts of both Antigone and the adjustment bureau, in which a compound of factors all results in choices for characters, though the factors are drastically different. In Antigone, it s a series of individual past events that convinces a character to make a decision. These decisions then themselves acts as contributing factors to a different characters decisions. For example, during the falling action of the play, Creon says, Now I am on my way! Come, each of you, take up axes, make for the high ground, over there, quickly! However, this is not random. In fact, it was actually caused by three main factors: the prophesies of Tiresias revealing that he and his city and family will suffer if he continues on his immoral path, the consul of the leader, a sort of mentor character, to give in to his advice and unbury her, and the popular support of Antigone over Creon. Thus, it was these three factors that were more or less independent of each other that weighed on Creon, and this caused him to make his choice. Based on estimations of the origin of the subfamily Cebinae which was 18 million years ago, this fossil was in fact the stem of the subfamily. Also, Stirtonia was considered to be an alouattinin fossil (Szalay and Delson, 1979) and according to their results the split between Alouatta and the remaining members of the family occurred 16 million years ago (Opazo et al., 2006 p. 279), a result that also agrees with the fossil record. As employers need members of staff to further or better their businesses, they face working with this generation touted as larger than the Baby Boomer generation that is now entering senior adulthood. To validate this, Aβ42 fibrils were prepared from Aβ42 monomer ex vivo and used to treat glioma A172 and U251 cells. Aβ uptake was blocked by both transient transfection of a miR34a mimic and stable miR34a overexpression (Supplementary Fig. 1B, Fig. 1A), but enhanced by anti miR34a (Fig. 1B), indicating that miR34a suppressed Aβ phagocytosis in these cells. Since mature autophagosome fuse with lysosomes to become autolysosome in the very late stage of autophagy, we asked whether miR34a could retard autophagosome lysosome fusion by examining the co localization of EGFP LC3 and LysoTracker Red, a specific dye for live cell lysosome labeling [47]. As expected, EGFP LC3 puncta were dramatically reinforced in miR34a mimic transfected cells but did not co localize with LysoTracker Red. This was acting similar to cells treated with bafilomycin A1 (Baf), which blocked autophagosome lysosome fusion. In contrast, E64D treatment induced a remarkable increased EGFP LC3 puncta, which were well co localized with LysoTracker Red (Fig. 1D). Since lysosome associated membrane glycoprotein 2 (LAMP2) is also critical for autophagosome lysosome fusion [48], we examined the effect of miR34a on LAMP2 expression using WB analysis. MiR34a caused an unexpected increase of LAMP2 (Supplementary Fig. 1C), suggesting that the mechanism by which miR34a blocked autophagosome lysosome fusion was not due to LAMP2. As LAMP2 is mostly important for chaperone mediated autophagy, its increase might be a compensation for the decrease in macroautophagy. In summary, the above results reinforce that miR34a compromised Aβ degradation by, at least, blocking autolysosome formation. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For much of history, money itself was valuable, because it was made of gold or silver or another precious resource. In order to use paper money, a government must have a way of backing it, or giving it a perceived value that people can trust. One particular thing to consider in this broad topic is how this system affected national debt. The government started this system to pay off debt, but in reality it only caused more debt. Plato The Shackles In Book 1 of Plato s The Republic, Socrates asks Cephalus about the difficulty of old age, as Cephalus has reached the threshold of death and is therefore suited to speak upon age. These youthful desires are later treated as shackles that constrain many people to temporal pleasures. By introducing these metaphorical shackles in the first discussion of The Republic, Plato foreshadows and parallels the cave allegory that appears in Book 7 (Plato 3). In the cave allegory, people are chained inside a cave and their knowledge is limited to only what they can see: the images of shadows casted by statues. The difficult thing about cultures is that no two cultures are the same so it is not a one size fits all. You have to take time to learn each culture and some cultures you will fit in better into than others. This is like a work place have that has developed a culture that constantly changes as new employees come and old one leave. I know I do, I grew up wearing plastic heels and itchy princess dresses wishing for my dream prince. Through reading various versions of this magical tale, however, I have been struck by the different cultural values represented in the story and how that differed with the Disney version I grew up with. Two versions of the story that stood out to me were The Little Glass Slipper by Charles Perrault and perhaps one the earliest versions, Yeh Shen, an Asian fairy tale written by Duan Cheng Shi. This folktale came about in 17th century Paris which is where it receives its original tile Cendrillon. The story represents French values of society, monarchy and the significance of beauty to men as well as women. To what Extent is new knowledge better than old knowledge and therefore can knowledge be permanent? To answer this question, one first has to consider that knowledge as such varies on the point of perspective, since there are many ways of knowing. As for example Reasoning and Sense Perception. Reasoning is something we use whenever we tend to make a decision, therefore the interpretation of the word Reason can vary in the slightest form. The modern media makes this very easy, as they seem to push the importance of scandals. This can be linked to the area of knowledge History, as it might have been the case with past incidences, and therefore how do we know if they are correct? So why is there such a variation in people s attitudes towards marijuana. This can be explained and understood by using the symbolic interactionism theory. Marijuana is a very controversial topic among Americans and much research has been done regarding it. The Pew Research Center has gathered information on the opinions Americans have towards the legalization of marijuana. The data shows what percentage of Americans think it should be legal or not. There is also data on reasons why they have their opinions and meanings toward marijuana. This data helps to further understand and apply this theory to the use of marijuana. Symbolic interactionism perspective is a theory that is used to study social life. To do this, this theory relies on studying and observing the interactions among people and how they form meanings to things from those interactions. Although, there is much more to this theory than that. Blumer, the man who invented the term symbolic interactionism, presented three premises which help to understand this theory. The first one is, people act a certain way towards things depending on their meaning for that thing. The second premise is that we get meanings from social interaction, so we are taught meanings or we witness them from others. Lastly, the third premise is that meanings are able to change because people have the mental capacity to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
