Taking a Look at Phonetic Euphemisms
A phonetic euphemism is used to replace profane language or cuss words. One version of phonetic
euphony is using the first letter of a cuss word, and often times adding the word word after it. For
example saying the, F word instead of saying fuck, or the B word instead of bitch. In the military, it s
common to say several completely different words using the first letters of profane words. For
example, instead of saying, What the Fuck , they would say, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot , or Bravo Sierra
instead of, Bull Shit . In television and radio, profanity will often be covered up by a bleep noise.
Usually, you can use context clues to figure out what the word was anyways but the bleep is a form a
euphemism because it covers up the offensive language. Cuss words are also masked by
mispronunciations, such as, darn instead of, damn , or shoot instead of shit . This type of phonetic
euphemism is most commonly used for the word fuck. There are many different ways the word fuck is
mispronounced, including, frick , frack , fudge , and truck . To alter the pronunciation or spelling of a
taboo word to form a euphemism is also known as taboo deformation, or minced oath .
Euphemisms are often used to describe activities that are gross or uncomfortable. There are countless
euphemisms for pooping and urinating. These include the phrases, using the bathroom , and taking a
dump . There are also several euphemisms for having sex such as, getting laid ,

The Pros And Cons Of Zoos
During February 2014, Tania, a female Indian Elephant has been shunted around from zoo to zoo,
ending up in the Targu Mures Zoo in Romania. During her time as a captive elephant Tania has rarely
been given time to bond with other members of her species. Tania has been living for 39 years. At the
Targu Mures Zoo she is confined into a tiny enclosure, not given the company of any other elephants,
and forced to stand in her own urine and feces. This is due to sporadic, and very unsanitary cleaning of
the practices of the zoo. Tania the elephants story began in 1978 when her herd was wiped out in the
wild. After that she had spent every one of her days looking through the bars of zoos across the
continent. This story and many others is the sad truth of what zoos do to the animals that live behind
their bars. This is why Zoos should be exterminated. In the United Kingdom there was a welfare
concern for all of the elephants. 75% of elephants were overweight, only 16% could walk normally,
and solitary 20% of the elephants were free of foot problems. This is why zoos do more harm than
good. CAPS (captiveanimals.org ) states Wild animals in zoos suffer physically and mentally as their
complex social, behavioural and physical needs cannot be met in the unnatural manmade
environments. Many animals suffer from being captive in the children s fun center we now call zoos.
This captivity can turn into a disease. lcanimal.org states Many animals held in captivity begin to form

Medical Ethics Case Study Essay
Medical Ethics Case Study
Introduction
Professionals in every field are always confronted with some kind of ethical issues. It has however
been noted that these ethical issues become high in magnitude and extent when public officials are
involved. Due to the involvement of human life, an industry like healthcare holds ethics in highest
regard. Even though these healthcare practitioners are highly trained to deal with issues of these kinds,
their decisions can sometimes have a lasting impact on their professional and personal lives (Edwards
2009).
The general awareness among patients on their rights during a medical procedure often conflict with
the morals of the healthcare industry. Many times healthcare professionals are caught between ...

Yeo (2010) point out that the possibility to retain some information from patients has been ordered for
long in Australian law, as in other countries for the benefit of the patient. This has now been combined
with the greater autonomy acknowledged to the patient in many jurisdictions. Although a clinical
approach reveals that loyalty should guide the patient physician relationship, there are still some
situations in which information consent and truth telling may be controversial: in some circumstances,
the physician should or may not tell the truth. The case at hand poses a dilemma regarding the right to
know (Cherry Jacob 2008).
There are a number of key elements that help to provide a framework that enhances truthful
communication. Firstly, there is the need to develop open and honest communication from the very
beginning of the patient health professional relationship. Secondly, the health professional needs to
use patient penchant as a weigh by asking them what they wish to know, how much they wish to
know, and determining what they already know. In other words, it is a responsibility of the health
professional to get a feel for the situation, including the patients perception of the situation (Ashcroft,
Dawson Drape 2007).
However, in the patient physician relationship, two autonomies are

Rhetorical Analysis Of Dakota By Debra Marquart
Debra Marquart described the place she is from very badly. She uses emotional appeal to
characteristics s the upper west. She shows shows how many different people view North Dakota and
how many believe it is just another ugly desert. Marquaty was also able to use ad hominem in the way
she described the place she grew up in.
In using emotional appeal, she wants to make the audience feel a certain way about North Dakota.
Marquart does this when she says, being blond, fresh faced, band Midwestern makes their descent into
ruthless behavior in places like Los Angeles and New York all the more tragic, (Marquart L. 17 20).
She described that many women in North Dakota are blonde and have strong attitudes but, what others

She wants them to believe that people from North Dakota are just like any other human beings and
that their hom is a beautiful place. She wants everyone to be open minded about the place she grew up
in. Even though she speaks badly about it, she does it so that others can see what it looks like to speak
badly about a place someone calls home.
Marquart wants to show the audience that between the years 1885 and 1911, people viewed the
Midwest as a beautiful and exceptional Place everyone wanted to go to. Marquart says, They traveled
to the Midwest by train to what was then the end of the line Eureka, South Dakota... I have found it ...

people view the Midwest as a chance to make it to something amazing. She shows this part at the end
because she wants to show the audience that even though throughout the whole passage she speaks
badly of it, there is always a small amount of good in everything. Eureka was South Dakota, and many
immigrants from Russia, including her grandparents, saw the place as something amazing because

The Different Competis Of Coca Cola And Coca-Cola
Competitors Coca Cola has various competitors in various markets. The sparkling beverages industry

The Contract Will Stand Between Ben And Colin Essay
Defined by MacQueen and Thomson, a contract is: ... an agreement between two or more parties
having the capacity to make it, in the form demanded by law, to perform, on one side or both, acts
which are not trifling, indeterminate, impossible or illegal. . While drunk on a stag night out in
Glasburgh, Ben bought a 1970s London style Routemaster for £57,000. Which on the following
morning he said that did not mean to order the vehicle, but Colin (the seller) insisted on the deal. To
determine whether the contract will stand between Ben and Colin, as defined by MacQueen and
Thomson, the essential features of contract formation, together with the intention to create legal
relations and his contractual capacity will need to be examined.
The first important issue that would have to be tackled is that of contract formation. Was there an offer
and a relevant acceptance of that offer? To begin with, it needs to be determined whether there was an
offer. Ben bought the bus through the garthdon jumbles.eu website and despite a price being displayed
the initial advert was an invitation to treat. An invitation to treat is when the person who made the
invitation to treat is not obligated to accept the offer in the absence of a promise to do so . The
invitation to treat was only then made into an offer when Colin sent an email of acceptance saying:
Hello Ben! Thank you buying the Routemaster! I confirm that I accept your offer to buy the vehicle
for £57,000. When can I expect you to

Shake Shack Case
Market research denotes a systematic and an objective collection as well as analysis of data regarding
a certain target market. This is inclusive of the level of competition and the environment. Market
research plays a significant role in gaining an increased understanding of the issue under scrutiny. The
importance of market research when implementing a new business strategy cannot be ignored. This is
particularly important if a business wants to establish new operating locations as a diversification
strategy. Therefore, it is important that when implementing the geographical expansion plan, Shake
Shack should conduct effective research. Effective market research needs to be grounded on such
factors such as the geographical location of the new operational area, population and target consumers.

I Am A Neonatal Nurse
Nursing has a variety of different specialties. The specialty I am most excited for is neonatal. Neonatal
nurses are nurses who care for premature babies, otherwise known as neonates. They have many
different job responsibilities, including, assessing a client s pain, caring for them, and understanding
what is best for the specific client. Despite all the criticism about my career choice, I have reinforced
my decision by learning about the effects of stress, the type of care nurses implement, and best
practices of neonatal nurses. Before coming to school I knew I aspired to be a neonatal nurse, although
I was not aware of everything that went along with it. I was a premature baby, along with my older
sister. We were both diagnosed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This at first, did not make a whole lot of sense to me, but now it does. When a baby has gone through
stress in utero, they have built up a tolerance to stress and pain. Their bodies have felt factors of strain,
and can deal with it a lot better than babies who have not been exposed to stressful events before.
However, after a neonate is born, it is critical to prevent stress as much as you can. Babies are
constantly being assessed, held, bathed, and fed. Swaddling has been proven to help distress neonates
by being wrapped up in a blanket tightly (Buonocore Bellieni, 2007, p. 87). You can imagine the
immediate shock neonates encounter once leaving their mother s womb. There they desperately suffer
while discovering their new, constricted condition. They are pinned to their little bed by gravity,
deprived of their usual reassuring gestures (sucking their thumb, playing with their umbilical cord,
placenta, or feet, masturbating, or swallowing amniotic liquid) because of their lack of motor
coordination. They have lost their freedom and any kind of potential initiative; they are now
submissive and become passive. Many of them escape into their own world and anesthetize their
perceptions; they dissociate themselves, which later on will influence their way of living. I am often

Dear Mr. Thompson:
I have watched the YouTube video called The Oil Sands Industry and Canada s Future . I have several
concerns regarding some of the statements that you and a few others made during the video. I believe
that when it comes to oil sands, there are a lot more negatives than positives that come with them.
All oil sand companies are supposed to reclaim lands that have been disturbed due to oil sand
operations to their natural state. 10% of the land that has been used by oil sand companies has been
reclaimed to their natural state since 1967. That means that the other 90% of the land has not been

Mayella Ewell Power Quotes
Power may be obtained in many ways. It can be obtained in race, gender, or class. In this case,
Mayella Ewell, a white female, lives in a dump. She only has power in which is regarding to her race.
To Kill A Mockingbird, a book made by Harper Lee has a character named Mayella Ewell. Mayella is
a white female who has been savagely beaten with a left hand. She is the daughter of Bob Ewell.
Mayella Ewell has power in her race. Regarding her race, she doesn t have power due to her social
class or her gender. Mayella Ewell doesn t have power in her social class since she is poor. The author
states, Maycomb s Ewells lived behind the town garbage dump... (Lee 17). This quote explains how
Mayella doesn t have power in regards to her class because of her and her family live behind the
towns dump. The text states, He thought he d be a hero, but all he got for his pain was... okay we ll
convict this Negro, but get back to your dump (Lee 18). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While she is white, Tom Robinson is black. And this means that people have never seen a judge rule
for a colored person before. The excerpt states, Now don t you be so confident, Mr. Jem, I ain t seen
any jury decide in favor of a colored man over a white man... (Lee 19). Since Mayella is white she has
more power than Tom because he is black. The meaning behind the quote is that whites have more
power than colored people do. The author says, The witness realized his mistake and shifted
uncomfortably in his chair. But the damage was done. Below us nobody liked Tom Robinson s answer.
Mr. Gilmer paused a long time to let it sink in (Document E). Since Tom Robinson is a colored male,
he showed that he had felt sorry for a white person. He should never feel bad for a white person
because he is the opposite race and it s not good for him to be showing sympathy of his opposite race.
Mayella has power for being white. Being white back then just means that you re more superior than
colored people

Comparison Of Grendel And Frankenstein
If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Similarly, if a being is
never provoked by man, will it become a monster? The latter is a question that is put into focus
throughout Gardner s Grendel and Shelley s Frankenstein. The reader learns of Grendel, and of
Frankenstein s creation, and must determine if they are truly monsters or merely a product of the
world they live in. It is very easy to take one glance at the seemingly heinous crimes committed by
Grendel and Frankenstein s creation, and based off of this, deem them to be monsters. However, it is
the actions and words of man that transform both Grendel, and Frankenstein s creation into monsters.
Both Grendel, and Frankenstein s creations go through personal transformations throughout their
lives. They both begin life as innocent creatures with no intention to wreak havoc. Victor Frankenstein
created his creature and then immediately ran away from it in fear. In reality, the creature just wanted
to be loved and His jaws opened, and he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his
cheeks (Shelley 59). The creature was brought to life, and his first instinct was to emit a loving smile,
but he was met with a scream of terror. Similarly, Grendel began his life as a righteous and pure
creature. When Grendel was approached by drunken men wielding battle axes, he sank to my knees,
crying, Friend! Friend! (Gardner 52). This proves that Grendel s initial instinct was to befriend the
men, despite their hostile approach. While the men continued to hack at Grendel he merely held up a
body for protection (Gardner 52) instead of fighting back. Grendel could have easily overpowered and
killed the men if he wanted to but he chose to simply protect himself. Both creatures started off as
innocent and pure until man got involved. Grendel could only take so much neglect and abuse before
he transformed into the monster that readers recognize him to be. The actions of man were nothing
short of monstrous, and they caused Grendel to turn into a monster. The men did not allow Grendel
into the Mead Hall and they tried to kill him whenever they saw him. Even when man was not doing
something directly to Grendel, their

John Barton
Elizabeth Gaskell indirectly acknowledges the life is better for the rich, lamentable for the poor
aphorism. Gaskell begins by contrasting the lifestyle of the rich man and the poor man his employee.
The owner of the mill overtly buys new homes, each one grander than the last; consequently he may
sell his mill; all the while his workers are struggling to make ends meet. Gaskell narrates the story of a
man named John Barton, who, of the few, is spoken of for the majority. In the narrative, John Barton s
experience with the mill is contrasted with the life of the mill owner; it shows the dramatic change in
lifestyles which invokes social inequity. John Barton is the synecdoche in regard to the mill workers.

The narrator expands on the reasoning of the character, to display that he does not place the blame on
his employer, but the market. However, this theory is exacerbated when John Barton sees ...that all
goes on just as usual with the mill owners. Large houses are still occupied, while spinners and weavers
cottages stand empty... Carriages still roll along the streets, concerts are still crowded by subscribers,
the shops for expensive luxuries still find daily customers, while the workman loiters away his
unemployed time in watching these things, and thinking of the pale, uncomplaining wife at home, and
the wailing children asking in vain for enough of food of the sinking health, of the dying life of those
near and dear to him. Also, now aware of his son s detrimental condition, this awakening causes his
rage to ensue. By the narrator offering a sharp contrast between the effects of the mill owner s
decision to sell his mill, Gaskell engenders a new platform for which the character to

What Happened To The Loyalists
Argumentative Essay
Loyalist or Patriot
Background: Various events of the 1700s led colonists to develop strong beliefs regarding the British
government. The Trial of Peter Zenger, The Proclamation of 1763, the Boston Massacre combined
with constantly changing taxes and rules that governed them made many think that self governance
was the best path for the colonies. Others felt that the King and his appointed officials had their best
interests in mind and preferred to stay loyal to the crown. Later, during the American Revolution, most
colonists took one side or the other. Either they were Patriots or loyalist. Patriots believed that the

What happened to loyalists during the war?
Life for the loyalists became increasingly difficult during the war. Loyalists who lived in areas
controlled by the patriots were in constant danger from radical patriots. Many of them lost their homes
and businesses.
Many loyalists left the country and went back to Britain. Others decided to help the British fight the
patriots. They either joined the British army or formed their own groups of fighters such as the Loyal
Greens and the Royal American Regiment.
What happened to the loyalists after the war?
Many loyalists moved to England after the war ended. A lot of them lost their fortunes and land that
they had built up over years in the Americas. In some cases the British government paid them for their
loyalty, but it was usually not nearly as much as they had lost. The United States government wanted
the loyalists to stay. They felt the new country could use their skills and education. Few stayed,
however.

Devotions In Catholic Religion
The Catholic Church has many devotions that popes, bishops, priests, deacons, and lay people say and
do in their everyday life. Devotions are practices of piety which is not part of the Liturgy of the
Church but is part of the spiritual practices of Catholics. Some examples of devotions Catholics
practice in their everyday lives are the Mass, the rosary, novenas, adoration in front of the Eucharist,
veneration to the saints, the Liturgy of the Hours, wearing scapulars and wearing medals, and many
others. Devotions are made to help people grow in their faith and love for Jesus.
The Liturgy of the Hours has three names. The three names are The Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine
Office, and the Breviary. The latin word for The Liturgy of the Hours is Liturgia Horarum. This
consists of mainly Psalms, added by hymns, readings, and other prayers. The Liturgy of the Hours is
the official prayer of the church, said many times in the day in order to sanctify it. Clergy and
religious officials have an obligation to say it because of the Canon Law as official representatives to
the church. The laity are expected to recite it whether it is with a priest, by themselves or with others.

Avoid Real Estate Investment Tax
Minimization of Individual Tax Liability in Real Estate Investment
In the world of investing, in general, one question is often the most challenging to answer. How does
an investor grow their nest egg without losing the majority of their gain to the IRS as income tax? This
question is even more challenging in the area of real estate where one s tax liability is drastically
increased by just the sale of one property. This simple transaction can increasing the investor s
ordinary income if the property is a short term investment (investment is less than 1 year) or
increasing their capital gains for long term investments (over 1 year). Surprisingly, there are several
easy ways to drastically reduce tax liabilities with some planning and ... Show more content on

At first glance the self directed IRA can seem like the perfect way to leave the stressful world of the
stock market but the seemly endless rules can quickly change an invertors mind. Furthermore if an
investor knowingly or unknowingly breaks one of the many rules they could be audited by the IRS
and if caught the entire IRA becomes immediately taxable as ordinary income. The most important
rule is that the investor must keep his personal funds separate from their IRA funds. Most
professionals agree it is important to consult an attorney and a CPA to facilitate the creation of a self
directed IRA. For the investors who fell the risk of an IRS audit is too great and are looking for more

The Capture Of Megiddo And The Suez Canal
The capture of Megiddo is the capture of a thousand towns. Campaign Records of Thutmose III

The Yom Kippur war (‫כיפור‬ ‫יום‬ ‫)מלחמת‬ started on October sixth, 1973 when Egyptian forces crossed
the Suez Canal in concert with Syrian allies attacking Israel from the north (Dayan, 1976, p. 24).
Israeli Defense Forces responded, defeating and eventually chasing the Egyptians back across the
Sinai and the Suez Canal. Israel upon threatening the direct military control of a strategic chokepoint,
the Suez Canal; drew immediate response from Russian military forces. What had been the defense of

The Jezreel Valley is shaped like a triangle with the bottom mirroring the Jordan River to the East and
top pointing toward the Mediterranean. The southern edge of the triangle, nearly 20 miles long, is
defined by the mountains of Carmel and Gilboa reaching almost to the Jordan River. In military
parlance, an area like Jezreel and Megiddo that reduces to a narrowed point (such as through the
Aruna Pass) is known as a fatal funnel . This is an area where an enemy can be fixed while maximized
use of weapons can be brought to bear. (Map of Megiddo Jezreel Valley) Thus, Megiddo was not only
a strategic chokepoint, but enjoyed special defensive capabilities; worthy of making Erwin Rommel to

Gay Adoption: To Condemn or Condone
Last year, 29,471 children turned 18 and left the foster care system without an adoptive family (
Adoption 1). Unfortunately for those young adults, knowing the comfort of a stable family was not
part of their childhood. Though there is a high demand for children to be adopted, the reality is many
are not being adopted. Furthermore, even though there are children that need a good home, state
governments are purposely making laws that prohibit certain groups of people from adopting children.
States like Florida and Mississippi are both culprits. Two groups that are especially being targeted by
unfair laws are gays and lesbians. These unfair laws are clear discrimination, and they should be put to

Because of this, the children are the ones who really suffer. If states limit the groups of people allowed
to adopt children, then more and more children will not have a family. According to the text, There are
423,773 children in the U.S. foster care system; 114,556 of these children are available for adoption.
Their birth parent s legal rights have been permanently terminated and children are left without a
family ( Adoption 1). There are at least 114,556 children in the U.S. foster care system waiting and

them, the children will be without a home for their whole adolescent life. In addition, there are gay
and lesbian couples where one of the partners has a child from a previous marriage or relationship.
Even in this case, the non biological parent cannot adopt the child, and this leads to further suffering
for the children. In the article, Final Holdout on Same Sex Adoption , the author, Tamar Lewin, states,
Hannah Marie Phillips makes the same point, in her 8 year old fashion: We want the other name on the

Hold on mom, I m in the bathroom, I yell as I hurry to finish. Dot, I need you right now! my mom
exclaims, obviously needing something. As I finish and wash my hands, I run out of the bathroom,
down the stairs, out of the back door, and into the backyard. I spot her down at the bottom of the hill,
by the fence. I don t see my American Bulldog, Larry, in the backyard. Still wearing my shin guards

yelling about. I notice that Larry is on the other side of the fence, in the woods, barking at a brown
creature. Neither my mom nor I knew what it was, but Larry seemed pretty intrigued by it.
My mom and I were holding treats out to him to try to get him to come back under the medium sized
hole in the fence, but none of our efforts worked. Larry being a large dog, we didn t understand how
he got through a hole that wasn t that big. As we discussed what we thought it was, the animal, which
we discovered was a deer, got up and started to run deeper into the woods, followed by Larry. In that
moment, I decided to hop my wooden fence and run after the deer and my dog. Holding a bag of treats

name, trying to get him to come back to me. After around thirty seconds of me running after Larry and

Pros And Cons Of Free Trade Essay
Pros and Cons of Free Trade I. Introduction Free trade, the ever present driving force behind our
national and world economy, is a trade policy embroiled in controversy. It is considered by most
economists to be an almost perfect trade policy, barring a few negative effects. Free trade has been
shown to increase production, output and income levels in an economy. However, there are many
people that view free trade as destroyer of economies and a catalyst of poverty. Critics of free trade
have pointed out that in the short run, free trade causes a loss of jobs which in turn causes a rise in
poverty levels. It is interesting to note that the argument for free trade and the argument against free
trade are inverses of each other. Proponents of free trade see it as a tool to stimulate an economy while
detractors see it as a policy which exacerbates poverty, causes dependency and reduces economic
stability. In general, there is no consensus on free trade. Economists see free trade as the devil that we
know. While imperfect, it is the best we have to work with. Popular opinion sees free trade as a cause
of inequality. Even though it alleviates poverty and causes economic stimulation in the long run, it can
cause the exact opposite in the short run. The pros and the cons of free trade must then be weighed,
which will then allow us to determine if free trade is truly a beneficial trade policy. Therefore, this
discussion will weigh the benefits and harms of free trade and will

What Is Merriam-Webster s Definition Of Motherhood
Rewarding, selfless, joy, blood, sweat, and tears; what do these words have in common, other than
sounding like tough work? These are just some of the words that are synonymous with the word,
motherhood. One word I believe should also be added to the long list is sacrifice. According to
Merriam Webster s definition, sacrifice means destruction or surrender of something for the sake of
something else. Children, from the time they are conceived to the time they are moving out to go to
college, require so much time, attention, resources and care that many women do not have. Mothers
are required to sacrifice their resources, no matter how much they need it, in order to help with the
success and survival of their offspring. Being an African American

Analysis Of Cosi Fan Tutte
Avtaran Jain Cosi Fan Tutte Review Many have heard the saying that art does not have a language
barrier. However, there are times when the expression above fails to hold true for a performance. It in
during these times, that the unison of the audience breaks, and a dichotomy forms. My recent
experience with the play, Cosi Fan Tutte was somewhat similar to the events described above.
Although Cosi Fan Tutte attempts to establish itself in the hearts of the crowd through its talented and
experienced cast, it ultimately fails due to its tediously repetitive song structure and narrow intended
audience. The adeptness and dexterity of an individual have always been fundamental talents to look
for when viewing a performance. These individuals are the one that help the event advance to success.
When it comes to the qualities mentioned above, the cast of Cosi Fan Tutte definitely possess most.
Because Cosi Fan Tutte is a performance written by Mozart, it comes as no surprise that the level of
singing and acting required is highly demanding even for veterans in the industry. Yet, despite all these
hurdles, the cast of the performance is able to captivate and delight the audience through its
outstanding vocal finesse and entertaining characterization. Ferrando, played by Carlos Feliciano and
Guglielmo, played by Eli Glick are the stars of the show, displaying their level of musical acumen
through songs such as Una bella serenata and E voi ridete which require a vocal

Companies should be able to retain their customers in order to attain high profitability. It is claimed by
Reichheld and Sasser (1990) that a 5 % improvement in customer retention can cause an increase in

likely to switch to competitors. As loyal customers have more experience with the business, they need
less assistance, make fewer calls to the call centre and require fewer visits from the sales

Kneeling In The NFL Fans
Kneeling during the national anthem has gotten bigger than I would ever thought it could be. It was
49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick who started the trend last year to protest police brutality. He first
took a knee during the national anthem people thought he was the most disrespectful person ever.
Some fans boo d him when he came into stadiums, some even burned his jersey. I find it hard to
believe that people support the movement when other teams started to do it but just last year they
hated Colin for doing it. In week 4 of the NFL 2017 18 season teams around the league decided to all

the movement and understood why the players were kneeling, but some fans didn t care why they
were kneeling. They thought it was the most disrespectful thing to do. They thought it was showing
that the players did not care that we have troops over seas fighting to keep america free, so kneeling
was a sign of disrespect to everyone fighting for us. A few war veterans that attended the games that
players took a knee at took it as a punch in the face. Felt as what they did really didn t mean anything

Colombia
Colombia s population, ranked as the third most populated South American country, seems to have a
ready audience for the film industry to tap. On the contrary though, the Colombian government has
failed to develop an elaborate film industry. One of the major reasons for this is the tendency of the
local population preference for foreign Hollywood movies. Although Colombia has had an abundant

Moreover, civil wars and political instability has dented the film industry in Colombia. However,

Mystical Experience, By Chris Frith
The human brain is the common thread which ties these selections of literature together. Our mind

We are one and the same, our mind and ourselves, but who has more control our conscious mind or

In Hemingway s collection of short stories, In Our Time, we follow a character by the name of Nick
Adams. We are introduced to Nick in Indian Camp as a young boy, and follow him to adulthood in
both Parts I and II of Big Two Hearted River . Through this we see Nick develop and learn about some
major facts of life. Nick is a character who changes through the effects of war on many different
levels. Although Hemingway hardly mentions the war, he uses the stories to express different effects
and emotions caused by the war.
In Indian Camp we meet Nick as he joins his father to help a pregnant Indian woman in labor. Nick s
father, a doctor, brings him to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick s father does not want to answer his wife s questions, and when he does, he lies to her. He
assumes that she will not understand his reasoning for the argument he just had outside. In addition,
his wife s religious demands for him to not lose his temper show that she does not want him to be a
stereotypical aggressive and protective male. Also, Christian Science religion does not believe in
medicine, which means that she has no respect for her husband s work. Nick s father decides to go
hunting, where he can express his masculinity. When Nick decides to go with him, Nick is also
showing an interest in male to male interaction over male to female interaction with his mother. We
see Nick at the end of the story, still calling his father daddy and wanting to follow him around. If the
family would interact more, then it is probable that Nick would be able to develop more
psychologically. He is still being treated like a little child, so he is still acting like one.
We next see Nick and his reactions to relationships. In The End of Something Nick breaks up with his
girlfriend Marjorie. He expresses to her that he is bored with his life and that they cannot stay
together. This shows that due to Nick s past, he is not ready for relationships with women. He does not
want to live his life in the traditional manner that Marjorie expects him to. Due to his lack of
development, he cannot communicate

Amputation Mishap
Amputation Mishap The Neighborhood News reports of a medical error at The Neighborhood
Hospital. The report states a 62 year old male patient underwent surgery to have his leg amputated
only to discover the wrong leg was amputated during surgery. The newspaper article states the mishap
is negligence. In the following paragraphs, negligence, gross negligence, and malpractice are
discussed and determine if the newspaper s statement of negligence is correct. Ethical principles in
nursing and nursing documentation regarding such issues are also discussed. Negligence and
malpractice fall under the tort laws definition. According to Guido (2010), Torts are civil wrongs, not
based on contracts, but on personal transgressions in that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

6. Damages. The amputated leg cannot be replaced; therefore the patient is entitled to compensatory
damages regarding pain and suffering, permanent disability, disfigurement, emotional damages as well
as financial loss and medical expenses. In this scenario, all six elements to prove malpractice are
present. The negligence is by licensed personnel in a hospital setting. Using the definitions and criteria
above, the newspaper incorrectly defines the mishap as negligence. The correct term to use in this case
is professional negligence or malpractice. Nursing documentation should be reflective of the patient s
hospital stay. This includes identifying and addressing patient needs, assessments, problems,
limitations, and responses to nursing interventions. According to Guido (2010), Documentation must
show continuity of care, interventions that were implemented, and patient responses to the therapies
implemented. Nurses notes are to be concise, clear, timely, and complete (p. 197). Guido (2010) lists
the following guidelines for nurses to use to ensure documentation is complete and accurate (p. 197
209): 1. Make an entry for every observation. If documentation is absent, it can be assumed an
observation did not take place. 2. Follow up as needed. Evaluation and observations require follow up
to ensure appropriate patient responses and optimal outcomes. 3. Read nurses notes prior to giving

Seven Articles And 27 Amendments
Seven articles and 27 amendments. This is what makes up the Constitution of the United States. Most
of those make America a better country. Others give us a turn for the worst. The most important
amendment is the last part of the eighth amendment. Even though we are known as the Melting Pot,
Article II Section I of the Constitution a right that should be given to all of America s citizens.
To begin, there are many important rights in the United States Constitution. In my opinion, the most
important right is part of the eighth amendment. It states ... nor cruel and unusual punishments

There are a few components for headway of worldwide exchange all around. This incorporate creative
generation methods, new transnational enterprises and proficient transportation framework. By ideals
of universal exchange system and offices the organization like TESCO can work globally and do its
business. This could be accomplished with no or little obstructions. Based upon these new exchange
controls TESCO is uncommonly working and doing its business particularly in European nations. This
is along these lines getting moved up to a universal or a worldwide organization. The promoting

any regulation and policy that may curtail the business activities. So, while doing the business TESCO

Essay On School Lunch Program
Over 100,000 schools have adopted the National School Lunch Program since its launch in 1946 by
then president Harry Truman. It was orgininally designed to provide low cost, healthy lunches at a
reduced cost and was relatively effective. Lately however, since first lady Michelle Obama fueled a
massive overhaul of the program shortly after her husband took office stripping the meals of so called
unhealthy content and started to require the School Lunch act to meet minimum nutritional standards...
This federal program has become too much about controlling what students eat vs. its content and it
needs to be changed. Ever since first lady Obama rolled out the new guidelines in 2010, there has been
a severe backlash from not just students, but from parents and lawmakers alike. For the past few years,
the program has been stripping food of its appeal, flavor, and quantity for a healthier option to curve
obesity. This has caused the amount of food that growing students, who need anywhere from 2,000 to
3,200 calories a day to less than 2,000. It has also left people in disgust of the portions people have
been getting. The best example of this is the #thanksMichelleObama where students across the
country showcase what this program has done to schools. Lawmakers from both sides say that these ...

The federal program does reimburse schools for free and reduced lunches, which means that both
schools and low income families do benifit, though this has been in place long before Michelle.
Another is that this will help to curve early childhood obesity and promote healthy eating for a new
generation, which is why everything has become low fat in schools and could be a factor in us not
being the most obese country anymore. The last is that the lunches aren t harming students and the
meals haven t changed much. I can tell you from experience that that is dead

4. 1 Functional Classifications Of Functional Functions
4.1 Functional classification of dysregulated proteins
It was shown that MPS VII is characterized by accumulation of ubiquitin and neurofilament, but not
PHF τ, α synuclein or apoptosis [20]. Similarly, significant alterations in the ubiquitin proteasome
system (UPS), but not proteins associated with apoptosis or PHF τ and α synuclein, were identified in
this study. Previous transcriptomic and proteomic analyses of MPS VII mouse brain identified many
dysregulated proteins involved in metabolism and cytoskeleton [21,22]. Additionally, these studies
found that neuroinflammation is also upregulated, but not to a large extent. Similar results were
observed in this study, indicating the reliability of the proteomics approach. We also examined ...

Dysregulation of cytoskeletal genes has also been seen in MPS I mouse brains [4], MPS IIIB mouse
brains [26] and MPS VII dog hearts [27]. Additionally, low density lipoprotein related protein 1B
(LRP1B), dynamin 1 (DMN1) and dynamin related protein 1 (DNM1L), which are involved in the
process of endocytosis, are downregulated. Vesicle associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2) is
involved in the targeting and/or fusion of transport vesicles to their target membrane [28]. These
results further suggest impaired lysosomal membrane trafficking pathways in MPS VII.
Based on previous reports and results in this study, we hypothesize that GAG accumulation leads to
alterations in the cytoskeletal system and thereby impairs lysosomal membrane pathways including
endocytosis, exocytosis, autophagy and vesicle transport. Notably, endocytosis defects in brain
endothelial cells may contribute to low transcytosis, making enzyme replacement therapy more
difficult to achieve neurological benefits. Therefore, targeting specific pathways involved in
transcytosis may be an effective strategy to enhance enzyme delivery to the brain in lysosomal
diseases including MPS VII.
4.1.2 Proteostasis
Many neurodegenerative diseases share a common molecular signature: disruption of proteostasis
[29]. This often manifests as an accumulation of ubiquitylated proteins, with evidence for a robust
contribution to

  • 2. Taking a Look at Phonetic Euphemisms A phonetic euphemism is used to replace profane language or cuss words. One version of phonetic euphony is using the first letter of a cuss word, and often times adding the word word after it. For example saying the, F word instead of saying fuck, or the B word instead of bitch. In the military, it s common to say several completely different words using the first letters of profane words. For example, instead of saying, What the Fuck , they would say, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot , or Bravo Sierra instead of, Bull Shit . In television and radio, profanity will often be covered up by a bleep noise. Usually, you can use context clues to figure out what the word was anyways but the bleep is a form a euphemism because it covers up the offensive language. Cuss words are also masked by mispronunciations, such as, darn instead of, damn , or shoot instead of shit . This type of phonetic euphemism is most commonly used for the word fuck. There are many different ways the word fuck is mispronounced, including, frick , frack , fudge , and truck . To alter the pronunciation or spelling of a taboo word to form a euphemism is also known as taboo deformation, or minced oath . Euphemisms are often used to describe activities that are gross or uncomfortable. There are countless euphemisms for pooping and urinating. These include the phrases, using the bathroom , and taking a dump . There are also several euphemisms for having sex such as, getting laid , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Pros And Cons Of Zoos During February 2014, Tania, a female Indian Elephant has been shunted around from zoo to zoo, ending up in the Targu Mures Zoo in Romania. During her time as a captive elephant Tania has rarely been given time to bond with other members of her species. Tania has been living for 39 years. At the Targu Mures Zoo she is confined into a tiny enclosure, not given the company of any other elephants, and forced to stand in her own urine and feces. This is due to sporadic, and very unsanitary cleaning of the practices of the zoo. Tania the elephants story began in 1978 when her herd was wiped out in the wild. After that she had spent every one of her days looking through the bars of zoos across the continent. This story and many others is the sad truth of what zoos do to the animals that live behind their bars. This is why Zoos should be exterminated. In the United Kingdom there was a welfare concern for all of the elephants. 75% of elephants were overweight, only 16% could walk normally, and solitary 20% of the elephants were free of foot problems. This is why zoos do more harm than good. CAPS (captiveanimals.org ) states Wild animals in zoos suffer physically and mentally as their complex social, behavioural and physical needs cannot be met in the unnatural manmade environments. Many animals suffer from being captive in the children s fun center we now call zoos. This captivity can turn into a disease. lcanimal.org states Many animals held in captivity begin to form ... It has however been noted that these ethical issues become high in magnitude and extent when public officials are involved. Due to the involvement of human life, an industry like healthcare holds ethics in highest regard. Even though these healthcare practitioners are highly trained to deal with issues of these kinds, their decisions can sometimes have a lasting impact on their professional and personal lives (Edwards 2009). Yeo (2010) point out that the possibility to retain some information from patients has been ordered for long in Australian law, as in other countries for the benefit of the patient. This has now been combined with the greater autonomy acknowledged to the patient in many jurisdictions. Although a clinical approach reveals that loyalty should guide the patient physician relationship, there are still some situations in which information consent and truth telling may be controversial: in some circumstances, the physician should or may not tell the truth. The case at hand poses a dilemma regarding the right to know (Cherry Jacob 2008). There are a number of key elements that help to provide a framework that enhances truthful communication. Firstly, there is the need to develop open and honest communication from the very beginning of the patient health professional relationship. Secondly, the health professional needs to use patient penchant as a weigh by asking them what they wish to know, how much they wish to know, and determining what they already know. In other words, it is a responsibility of the health professional to get a feel for the situation, including the patients perception of the situation (Ashcroft, Dawson Drape 2007). She shows shows how many different people view North Dakota and how many believe it is just another ugly desert. Marquaty was also able to use ad hominem in the way she described the place she grew up in. In using emotional appeal, she wants to make the audience feel a certain way about North Dakota. Marquart does this when she says, being blond, fresh faced, band Midwestern makes their descent into ruthless behavior in places like Los Angeles and New York all the more tragic, (Marquart L. 17 20). Marquart wants to show the audience that between the years 1885 and 1911, people viewed the Midwest as a beautiful and exceptional Place everyone wanted to go to. Marquart says, They traveled to the Midwest by train to what was then the end of the line Eureka, South Dakota... I have found it ... My grandparents wouldn t have known the etymology of the word, but they would have felt it, the anticipation, as they waited along with the other immigrants from Russia to receive their allotments of land, ( Marquart L. 64 74). This quote shows how back in the eighteenth and nineteen hundreds, people view the Midwest as a chance to make it to something amazing. She shows this part at the end because she wants to show the audience that even though throughout the whole passage she speaks badly of it, there is always a small amount of good in everything. • 7. The Contract Will Stand Between Ben And Colin Essay Defined by MacQueen and Thomson, a contract is: ... an agreement between two or more parties having the capacity to make it, in the form demanded by law, to perform, on one side or both, acts which are not trifling, indeterminate, impossible or illegal. . While drunk on a stag night out in Glasburgh, Ben bought a 1970s London style Routemaster for £57,000. Which on the following morning he said that did not mean to order the vehicle, but Colin (the seller) insisted on the deal. To determine whether the contract will stand between Ben and Colin, as defined by MacQueen and Thomson, the essential features of contract formation, together with the intention to create legal relations and his contractual capacity will need to be examined. The first important issue that would have to be tackled is that of contract formation. Was there an offer and a relevant acceptance of that offer? To begin with, it needs to be determined whether there was an offer. Ben bought the bus through the garthdon jumbles.eu website and despite a price being displayed the initial advert was an invitation to treat. An invitation to treat is when the person who made the invitation to treat is not obligated to accept the offer in the absence of a promise to do so . Despite all the criticism about my career choice, I have reinforced my decision by learning about the effects of stress, the type of care nurses implement, and best practices of neonatal nurses. When a baby has gone through stress in utero, they have built up a tolerance to stress and pain. Their bodies have felt factors of strain, and can deal with it a lot better than babies who have not been exposed to stressful events before. However, after a neonate is born, it is critical to prevent stress as much as you can. Babies are constantly being assessed, held, bathed, and fed. Swaddling has been proven to help distress neonates by being wrapped up in a blanket tightly (Buonocore Bellieni, 2007, p. 87). You can imagine the immediate shock neonates encounter once leaving their mother s womb. There they desperately suffer while discovering their new, constricted condition. They are pinned to their little bed by gravity, deprived of their usual reassuring gestures (sucking their thumb, playing with their umbilical cord, placenta, or feet, masturbating, or swallowing amniotic liquid) because of their lack of motor coordination. • 12. Comparison Of Grendel And Frankenstein If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? Similarly, if a being is never provoked by man, will it become a monster? The latter is a question that is put into focus throughout Gardner s Grendel and Shelley s Frankenstein. The reader learns of Grendel, and of Frankenstein s creation, and must determine if they are truly monsters or merely a product of the world they live in. It is very easy to take one glance at the seemingly heinous crimes committed by Grendel and Frankenstein s creation, and based off of this, deem them to be monsters. However, it is the actions and words of man that transform both Grendel, and Frankenstein s creation into monsters. Both Grendel, and Frankenstein s creations go through personal transformations throughout their lives. They both begin life as innocent creatures with no intention to wreak havoc. Victor Frankenstein created his creature and then immediately ran away from it in fear. In reality, the creature just wanted to be loved and His jaws opened, and he muttered some inarticulate sounds, while a grin wrinkled his cheeks (Shelley 59). The creature was brought to life, and his first instinct was to emit a loving smile, but he was met with a scream of terror. Similarly, Grendel began his life as a righteous and pure creature. When Grendel was approached by drunken men wielding battle axes, he sank to my knees, crying, Friend! Friend! (Gardner 52). This proves that Grendel s initial instinct was to befriend the men, despite their hostile approach. While the men continued to hack at Grendel he merely held up a body for protection (Gardner 52) instead of fighting back. Grendel could have easily overpowered and killed the men if he wanted to but he chose to simply protect himself. Both creatures started off as innocent and pure until man got involved. Grendel could only take so much neglect and abuse before he transformed into the monster that readers recognize him to be. The actions of man were nothing short of monstrous, and they caused Grendel to turn into a monster. The men did not allow Grendel into the Mead Hall and they tried to kill him whenever they saw him. • 27. Pros And Cons Of Free Trade Essay Pros and Cons of Free Trade I. Introduction Free trade, the ever present driving force behind our national and world economy, is a trade policy embroiled in controversy. It is considered by most economists to be an almost perfect trade policy, barring a few negative effects. Free trade has been shown to increase production, output and income levels in an economy. However, there are many people that view free trade as destroyer of economies and a catalyst of poverty. Critics of free trade have pointed out that in the short run, free trade causes a loss of jobs which in turn causes a rise in poverty levels. It is interesting to note that the argument for free trade and the argument against free trade are inverses of each other. Proponents of free trade see it as a tool to stimulate an economy while detractors see it as a policy which exacerbates poverty, causes dependency and reduces economic stability. In general, there is no consensus on free trade. Economists see free trade as the devil that we know. While imperfect, it is the best we have to work with. Popular opinion sees free trade as a cause of inequality. Even though it alleviates poverty and causes economic stimulation in the long run, it can cause the exact opposite in the short run. The pros and the cons of free trade must then be weighed, which will then allow us to determine if free trade is truly a beneficial trade policy. Therefore, this discussion will weigh the benefits and harms of free trade and will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My recent experience with the play, Cosi Fan Tutte was somewhat similar to the events described above. The essay, America s True History of Religious Tolerance, written by Kenneth Davis, made me realize how non free America actually is towards religion and how people choose to practice it. It also opened my eyes on how to deal with most situations of this nature, if every arose to mo or towards any one else around me, as an American citizen In Mr. Davis essay he mentions a quote from one of Obama s speeches stating that Obama declared This is America. And our commitment to religious freedom must be unshakeable. The principle that they will not treated differently by their government is essential to who we are. . That quote caught my eye because it shows that no matter what religion or who that religious follower is, if any religion at all, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nick s father does not want to answer his wife s questions, and when he does, he lies to her. He assumes that she will not understand his reasoning for the argument he just had outside. In addition, his wife s religious demands for him to not lose his temper show that she does not want him to be a stereotypical aggressive and protective male. Also, Christian Science religion does not believe in medicine, which means that she has no respect for her husband s work. Nick s father decides to go hunting, where he can express his masculinity. When Nick decides to go with him, Nick is also showing an interest in male to male interaction over male to female interaction with his mother. We see Nick at the end of the story, still calling his father daddy and wanting to follow him around. If the family would interact more, then it is probable that Nick would be able to develop more psychologically. He is still being treated like a little child, so he is still acting like one. We next see Nick and his reactions to relationships. In The End of Something Nick breaks up with his girlfriend Marjorie. He expresses to her that he is bored with his life and that they cannot stay together. This shows that due to Nick s past, he is not ready for relationships with women. He does not want to live his life in the traditional manner that Marjorie expects him to. Due to his lack of development, he cannot communicate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The report states a 62 year old male patient underwent surgery to have his leg amputated only to discover the wrong leg was amputated during surgery. The newspaper article states the mishap is negligence. In the following paragraphs, negligence, gross negligence, and malpractice are discussed and determine if the newspaper s statement of negligence is correct. Ethical principles in nursing and nursing documentation regarding such issues are also discussed. Negligence and malpractice fall under the tort laws definition. According to Guido (2010), Torts are civil wrongs, not based on contracts, but on personal transgressions in that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 6. Damages. The amputated leg cannot be replaced; therefore the patient is entitled to compensatory damages regarding pain and suffering, permanent disability, disfigurement, emotional damages as well as financial loss and medical expenses. In this scenario, all six elements to prove malpractice are present. The negligence is by licensed personnel in a hospital setting. Using the definitions and criteria above, the newspaper incorrectly defines the mishap as negligence. The correct term to use in this case is professional negligence or malpractice. Nursing documentation should be reflective of the patient s hospital stay. This includes identifying and addressing patient needs, assessments, problems, limitations, and responses to nursing interventions. According to Guido (2010), Documentation must show continuity of care, interventions that were implemented, and patient responses to the therapies implemented. Nurses notes are to be concise, clear, timely, and complete (p. 197). Guido (2010) lists the following guidelines for nurses to use to ensure documentation is complete and accurate (p. 197 209): 1. Make an entry for every observation. If documentation is absent, it can be assumed an observation did not take place. 2. Follow up as needed. Evaluation and observations require follow up to ensure appropriate patient responses and optimal outcomes. 3. Read nurses notes prior to giving ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Essay On School Lunch Program Over 100,000 schools have adopted the National School Lunch Program since its launch in 1946 by then president Harry Truman. It was orgininally designed to provide low cost, healthy lunches at a reduced cost and was relatively effective. Lately however, since first lady Michelle Obama fueled a massive overhaul of the program shortly after her husband took office stripping the meals of so called unhealthy content and started to require the School Lunch act to meet minimum nutritional standards... This federal program has become too much about controlling what students eat vs. its content and it needs to be changed. Ever since first lady Obama rolled out the new guidelines in 2010, there has been a severe backlash from not just students, but from parents and lawmakers alike. For the past few years, the program has been stripping food of its appeal, flavor, and quantity for a healthier option to curve obesity. This has caused the amount of food that growing students, who need anywhere from 2,000 to 3,200 calories a day to less than 2,000. It has also left people in disgust of the portions people have been getting. The best example of this is the #thanksMichelleObama where students across the country showcase what this program has done to schools. Lawmakers from both sides say that these ... • 45. 4. 1 Functional Classifications Of Functional Functions 4.1 Functional classification of dysregulated proteins It was shown that MPS VII is characterized by accumulation of ubiquitin and neurofilament, but not PHF τ, α synuclein or apoptosis [20]. Similarly, significant alterations in the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS), but not proteins associated with apoptosis or PHF τ and α synuclein, were identified in this study. Previous transcriptomic and proteomic analyses of MPS VII mouse brain identified many dysregulated proteins involved in metabolism and cytoskeleton [21,22]. Additionally, these studies found that neuroinflammation is also upregulated, but not to a large extent. Similar results were observed in this study, indicating the reliability of the proteomics approach. We also examined ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dysregulation of cytoskeletal genes has also been seen in MPS I mouse brains [4], MPS IIIB mouse brains [26] and MPS VII dog hearts [27]. Additionally, low density lipoprotein related protein 1B (LRP1B), dynamin 1 (DMN1) and dynamin related protein 1 (DNM1L), which are involved in the process of endocytosis, are downregulated. Vesicle associated membrane protein 2 (VAMP2) is involved in the targeting and/or fusion of transport vesicles to their target membrane [28]. These results further suggest impaired lysosomal membrane trafficking pathways in MPS VII. Based on previous reports and results in this study, we hypothesize that GAG accumulation leads to alterations in the cytoskeletal system and thereby impairs lysosomal membrane pathways including endocytosis, exocytosis, autophagy and vesicle transport. Notably, endocytosis defects in brain endothelial cells may contribute to low transcytosis, making enzyme replacement therapy more difficult to achieve neurological benefits. Therefore, targeting specific pathways involved in transcytosis may be an effective strategy to enhance enzyme delivery to the brain in lysosomal diseases including MPS VII. 4.1.2 Proteostasis Many neurodegenerative diseases share a common molecular signature: disruption of proteostasis [29]. This often manifests as an accumulation of ubiquitylated proteins, with evidence for a robust contribution to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
