Flight 191 Essay
Around 5:56 pm, The Regional Approach Control s Feeder East controller transmitted an all aircraft
message which was received by Flight 191. The message stated in part, Attention all aircraft listening,
there is a little rain shower just north of the DFW airport and they are starting to make ILS approaches

The Effects Of Gendered Representations On Advertising
The Effects of Gendered Representations in Advertising
This essay discusses the representations of women in media and advertising, including the effects they
have on individuals in society. Firstly, I will review the literature on stereotypical gender roles within
media and advertising. This will include traditional roles such as the housewife, and modern roles
such as the sex object. Secondly, I will critically evaluate and examine the effects of these roles on
women, and even men, in today s society. Effects include body dissatisfaction, thin idealisation and, in
extreme cases, violence against women. Thirdly, I will aim to make conclusions on whether gender
representations and roles within media have impacts on men and women in society.
During the rise of the feminist movement in the late 20th century, a significant body of research
emphasised that media and advertising can affect the behaviours, knowledge and beliefs of
individuals. The mass media can influence attitudes and opinions, either immediately or gradually,
which may shape social norms (Lazarsfeld, 1948, p.249). In particular, researchers have argued that
advertising plays a huge role in affecting the attitudes and behaviours of individuals in society
(Courtney and Lockeretz, 1971, Kolbe and Langefeld, 1991; Harrison and Hefner, 2006; Stankiewicz
and Rosselli, 2008; Ifezue, 2010). Advertising may be referred to as a persuasive and repetitive form
of communication (Panarese, 2014, p.100), which occupies

China Western Influence
In todays world China is still considered by most scholars a third world country, with a large amount
of the population living on low wages earned from an agricultural based economy. At one point
however China was one of if not the most prosperous civilization in the world. China led the world in
innovation and culture (Stanard). They were able to stay a vibrant culture for thousands of years. This
paper will provide concise and scholarly evidence that China was far more advanced than its Western
counterparts at the height of the European renaissance . The reasons lie within three main points. The
first issue that will be addressed is the difference of religions. The second will give brief insight into

had little to no enemies, so the Chinese government was able to focus on more important things and
not worry about an imminent attack. Unlike countries in Western Europe, that are side by side always

Essay On Intolerance In The Crucible
When facing change in society, people tend to become less tolerant and more intolerant. It is human
instinct to fear those who are different and could cause a threat to society. This behavior was
essentially demonstrated in The Crucible. When the Puritans faced change and felt a danger to their
society they became increasingly intolerant of those who were against their strict Puritan beliefs. Even
to this day, there are still those who are intolerant of others. Many of those in power have not learned
from their mistakes, but rather commit the same ones their predecessors have made. The Puritan
society in The Crucible became a breeding ground for intolerance and a past symbol for modern day
intolerance because of the Puritan s strict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the start of the play Hale was totally pro witch trials, but as the trials progressed he began to see the
big, ugly face of intolerance that was rearing its head. Once he saw this he distanced himself from the
court by quitting it (Miller 521 524). The modern day version of this is all too common today. Many
people, politicians, and businessmen get involved in groups that they are all for when they join them.
Once these groups take a turn for the worse either because of their narrow mindedness or intolerance
these people leave them. Simply condemning these groups and thoughts does not go far enough. In
order to truly combat them they must be dealt with. Hale and the people of Salem did not go far
enough to deal with the Salem Witch Trials and as a result many innocent lives were lost. The problem
with intolerance and narrow mindedness is that it tends to be deeply rooted into a person s beliefs.
Judge Danforth is a paragon for narrow mindedness in The Crucible. He demonstrates this narrow
mindedness on numerous occasions. When he is given definite proof that Abigail is lying about her
accusations, he ignores them and calls John Proctor a liar. Another example of this narrow mindedness
was when his court was considered questionable by Reverend Hale. Hearing this accusation, Danforth
swiftly reacts and reaffirms his beliefs in the authority of the court and denies any wrongdoing (521
531). Through this

Essay about The Schlieffen Plan by Alfred Von Schlieffen
In this essay I will explain what Schlieffen plan was and why it did not work step by step.It began
when Germany declare war on Russia and France. However their allies Britain and Belgium stepped
in to help while Austro Hungary was alliance to Germany. The Schlieffen plan had been created by
Alfred Von Schlieffen but he had died before world war one started. The plan was meant to be
foolproof. First of all, Germany planned to defeat France quickly by marching through Belgium
before Russia could get involved. It was intended to avoid a war on two fronts. Germany believed that
Russia would take six weeks to mobilize their troops. Germany would hold the French on the frontier
with their weak forces and follow this by holding up Russian ... Show more content on

This resulted in the German advance being further delayed. Furthermore, I will describe how French
troops retreated to defend Paris from the German advance. The Germans imagined that their
advancement would be speedy and France would not be able to defend. Nevertheless, France was able
to actually relocate their troops very quickly and effectively. France had a war plan, it was called Plan
XVII and it was essentially offensive form the Maginot line into Alsace Lorraine. Eventually, over
300,000 French soldiers were killed within two weeks. The French generals then abandoned Plan
XVII, they ordered their forces to return to protect Paris. The mobilisation of the French troops were
done by train, taxis and marching, together with help from Britain and Belgium to slow German
advancement. This enabled France to succeed in mobilisation of their troops. The German greatly
underestimated how well France would be able to do this. By te time the Germans arrived in france
the french troops were there already waiting for them, France force were ready and well prepared.
Moreover, I will explain how the Russian mobilisation of the army was much more quickly than
expected. The mobilisation began on 26th July, when it became evident that Austria hungary would
not stand for Serbia s partial acceptance of their demand. Germany thought that Russian would take at
least six weeks to move. In the reality, Russia

Market Failure Of The Pharmaceutical Industry
Market failure appears when there is a failure in allocation of goods and services. When the market is
unsuccessful, the government is called to intervene and correct the failure. Over the years, government
participation in the pharmaceutical market has been more wide ranging than any other good or service.
With the government s ability to regulate, mandate, inform, finance and provide, their intervention to
overcome market failure can be beneficial for the economy. Market failure plays a significant role in
today s economy.
Pharmaceutical industries are a prime example. There are several possible reasons as to why and how
market failures might lead to such high prices for drugs. Information asymmetry is the most critical
form of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, patients often have less knowledge than the prescriber does about the appropriateness of
the drug, where it can be very misinforming for the consumer. Lastly, drug efficacy is a problem in all
contexts. Since stakeholders are likely, less informed than manufacturers it causes both the consumer
and prescriber to depend on the manufacturer for information of the effectiveness of the drug (Bennett,
Quick, Velasquez, 2016).
Externalities, also viewed as the negative spillover effect, plays a role in market failures associated
with pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical sector, externalities take place when consumers affect the
utilization of a drug s value. Externalities typically stop consumers from receiving cheaper costs for
drugs because they normally don t carry the complete costs of drug expenses. Negative externalities
induce a cycle of ongoing sales, more profits and more subsidies. Thus, if externalities are left to be
controlled by a market then the implications will lead to high pricing on products.
Recently, there had been a controversy over the rise in pharmaceutical costs involving the EpiPen in
the United States. The EpiPen, also known as adrenaline/epinephrine, is a widely used injection that is
used to treat allergic reactions. This generic drug has been available for many years. The EpiPen
controversy is a prime example of how monopoly

Villehardouin s Memoirs Of The Fourth Crusades
While the definition of historiography has been slightly amended over time, the study of the way
history has been and is written appears to be the approved meaning.1 Essentially, from my
understanding, historiography is the evaluation of interpretations by historians over time. For example,
Geoffrey de Villehardouin s Memoirs of the Fourth Crusades stands out as a prominent historical
foundation, as very few written accounts of the Crusades describe the political, economic, religious
and military events preceding up to, and subsequently succeeding, from a [the] first person
standpoint.2 Memoirs of the Fourth Crusade is thus reviewed as a uniquely distinguishable, primary
source that affords historians with an incomparable written record ... Show more content on

The historiography falls within the realm of how Shaw, Morris and Marzials reviewed Villehardouin s
work. The historical evaluation would therefore be researching into the sources these authors used, the
degree of knowledge they possess, et al. For historians and students alike, we must appreciate the
necessity to evaluate every aspect independently in an aid to draw our own conclusions; whether they
fall in line with the works reviewed, or follow a completely different pathway. History has always
been exposed to bias at its core, depending upon the circumstances. I believe historiography unravels
any degree of bias. In fact, the more I have read this past week, the more I can remember a former
history professor advising me that when I conduct research, to always have three notebooks handy;
one for the notes I was taking, one to annotate additional sources referenced throughout the work, and
the third is for asking questions beyond the historical fact or event, it is how others have observed the

Dishonesty As A Vice, Is Universal And Timeless Essay
Dishonesty, as a vice, is universal and timeless; according to the Bible, the very first humans on earth
committed the first sin of deception. Adam and Eve lied to God about whether they had eaten the fruit
of the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden, cementing the human race as one which feels that the
burden of truth is too cumbersome to carry, and dooming humanity to a life of sin. Modern liars still
carry on this legacy of deception, and rather than seeing modern liars as their own association, all
living humans are modern liars. Regardless of whether the practice of dishonesty is daily or hourly,
small white lies or large scale intentional misdirection, each mortal creature contributes to the act of
lying. Some of these large scale liars were interviewed in the documentary entitled (Dis)Honesty: The
Truth About Lies people from all walks of life who share solidarity in the experience of the exposition
and chastisement which frequently follows the act of lying. The interviewees also collectively
understand the snowballing effect of lies taking on a life of their own and growing exponentially in
size as they must be maintained through an ever expanding mountain of mistruths. All those who were
interviewed started with good intentions and seemingly justifiable excuses for their dishonesty, and
yet have all had to face the consequences that come with lying. The act of lying along with the
question of its morality was viewed to be paramount in the study of

Summary Of Jean-Jacques Rousseau And Mary Wollstonecraft
Eighteenth century Europe was an incredibly repressive environment for women. Patriarchal
expectations governed not only women s physical and legal rights, but even inhibited their emotional
states. Women were limited solely to the domestic sphere while their brothers, fathers, husbands, and
sons pursued livelihoods outside the home. For a woman to be dissatisfied with the status quo and
yearn for greater purpose than just raising children and obeying a husband was considered abnormal
and unfeminine. Women had very few choices in life and very few opportunities to assert themselves,
but they found that exploiting men through sex and romance was an effective way to gain some form
of autonomy. Two influential political and philosophical authors of the time, Jean Jacques Rousseau
and Mary Wollstonecraft, both found this kind of manipulation to be a prevalent issue. However, while
Rousseau believes that this behavior proves women s cunning and inferior natures, Wollstonecraft is
more forgiving. She argues that if the sexes were equal, women would not be forced to derive power
by influencing men.
In Discourse on the Origin of Inequality, published in 1755, Rousseau attempts to answer the question
of what causes suffering in society. Throughout his treatise, when referring to the human race as a
whole, he uses the word man. The masculine vernacular was an continues to be common shorthand for
humankind, but in this particular case, it is significant. It indicates Rousseau s

Summary Of John Locke s Second Treatise Of Civil Government
John Locke: Second Treatise of Civil Government 1. John Locke s Second Treatise of Civil
Government was first published in 1690. In 1688, the Glorious Revolution came over England. King
James II was overthrown, and King William and Queen Mary were brought to England with the help
of the Whigs, with whom Locke had very strong connections. Locke chose to attack the idea of
absolute monarchy, and supported the idea of overthrowing an unappreciated ruler, e.g. the events of
the Glorious Revolution. 2. Locke refers to the laws of nature as the first government of the human
race, in its basest and original form: [W]e must consider what estate all men are naturally in, and that

The social contract is the idea that man gives up his rights and himself to the community, where all
men will be equal. This is beneficial to society in that no one will want to make the group state worse
for every member, Rousseau says. Additionally, every member of the societal body will wish to aid the
others, as they are able to move as one. An offense to one member of the body is now an offense to all
members. 4. Rousseau seems to not really believe in the sustainability of individualism. His social
contract demands that all follow along with the general will, no matter what they personally believe.
In fact, he says any man who separates from the general will shall be forced to go along with what is
best for the society. 5. Rousseau explains that direct democracy is the only true form of appropriate
government. He argues that the will of the people cannot be represented, or it will be corrupted, and
only by direct vote and ratification by the people can laws be valid and acceptable, as they are truly
the will of the people. Representative democracy is unacceptable, because those appointed to work for
the people cannot adequately represent them, as they are different people. 6. Both Rousseau and Locke
seem to agree that the basic purpose of any government is to protect the people within it and enforce
their will. They agree that a government has no foundation if it is not supported by the people it

Exploring The Benefits And Difficulties Of Travel Accounts
To understand the benefits and difficulties of travel accounts as primary sources, they need to be
clearly defined and placed into their context. The main primary sources in I will be studying are
British travel accounts produced between 1790 and 1800. Tim Young provides the basics for travel
accounts stating, The guiding principle of this book is that travel writing consists of predominantly
factual, first person prose of travels that have been undertaken by the author narrator. It includes
discussion of works that some may regard as genre in their own rights... but it distinguishes these from
other types of narrative in which travel ins narrated by a third party or is imagined. Young s
description of travel narratives allows for accounts that were viewed as accurate in their time such as
Jonathan Swift s Gulliver s Travels. Young and Elizabeth Bohls demonstrate the ability for travel
narratives to be a combination of several literature genres, and the focus is on the aspects of the
traveler rather than the construction of the work in a literary sense. Linda Colley described the process
of analysis the documents, But it needs stressing from the start that, while these texts sometimes
contain fictional interludes, together of course with a tithe of lies and errors, their overall factual
anchorage can usually be tested. Colley s testing involves comparing accounts and checking
references to outside sources and events. This also involves also being critical with those

News Media, Athletes, And Models
Banduras social learning theory speaks to what we learn from others via observation, imitation, or

News media calls to attention current events. The information comes from real people who have had
their lives changed be it for good or bad. Though what is being shared might not be prevalent at the
time, it does call to attention one s stance to the situation and possible future handlings of it. News
media covers topics like teenage suicide, kidnappings, drive by shootings, etc. Because such delicate
topics are brought to light, it calls to attention one s surroundings and forces reaction. The news media
is a tool that relays stories but it is them who decide how to share them. However, it is how they do so
that impacts the story, which is why they must remain true to facts to not deter from the message.
When deterring occurs, lies spread and the topic isn t what it began as but a twist to its original. By

What Is A Transgender Rebuttal
Transgender Rebuttal:
Hello there, I m James Warmbier. I have to disagree with your sectionalism essay on being
transgender. I disagree with this because transgender people are human beings just like us. They
should not be judged for what they do with their bodies. In my opinion, it s just another form of
racism. And this country has way too much of that already.
Unfortunately, in your life, there will be a lot of things that creep you out. Just because something
creeps you out , doesn t mean it s wrong. Also, being creeped out isn t really a valid reason. People
don t go up to you and say You re creepy. Would you agree if a women got breast implants? That s
changing your body too. It would be pretty ridiculous to go up to that women and say You re creepy. .
Right?
Saying that transgender kids should not be able to go to school or even be separated in stores is very
extreme. I don t see why they shouldn t get an education. But having them separated in stores is too
crazy. How would they be able to shop for things they may need. In comparison, what you re saying is
just like when slavery was around. Whites were separated from blacks, but in this situation, all people
are separated from transgender s.
I don t really see what you mean by a controlled society . The people who discriminate are in the way .
It s not the transgender communities fault. If a male feels like a female, it s alright for a person to
change and not be discriminated against. They are the same

Realism In The Lumiere Brothers
Realism is the artistic attempt to recreate life as it is in the context of an artistic medium. It began as a
revolt against the conventions of the classic view of art in the late 1800s in America and Europe in the
form of an artistic movement (McConnel, R. 1997). There are many themes involved with realism that
shall be discussed. These include accuracy and independence.
Realists attempt to portray the illusion that their film world has not been manipulated and is almost
like a mirror to the real world. Their techniques are different to those of any other film. They try to
make the film seem as real and as close to normal life as possible by using natural lighting instead of
special lighting equipment, they also mostly use hand held cameras and employ non professional
actors to really uphold this realistic image.
The Lumiere Brothers were the pioneers of realism through films as they ... Show more content on

The depiction of subjects is always absolutely accurate to reinforce the portrayal of real life and is
void of any unnecessary artistic embellishment (Vaux, R. 2014). A technique that is used is filming
done on locations rather than sets to properly portray the feel of real life. Events are not euphemized
or hyperbolized to become a distortion or opinion of the truth. Unpleasant images, words and events
are portrayed in full with no hidden facts, as well as plain images, words or events.
A realist film that shows great accuracy is the war film All Quiet on the Western Front. The storyline
incorporates just enough action to inform viewers that it is a war movie and at the same time it also
embodies many other aspects such as the politics, emotions and hype involved with the war (Ronald,
R. 2013). This gives the viewer a more accurate view as all aspects of the war are covered.
Throughout the film we see that real locations have been chosen to enhance the realistic vision and
accuracy of the film.

Butterflies In class Essay
Question: How do the Mirabal sisters use courage in the novel?
The Courage of the Butterflies
If the average person wanted to stand up to adversity, would they have the courage to do it? In the
historical fiction novel, In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, the four Mirabal sisters (Dedé,
Minerva, María, and Patria) stand up to adversity and join a revolution against the tyrannical Trujillo
regime in the Dominican Republic. In their own time, all of the sisters gain the courage to join the
revolution and attempt to remove the Trujillo regime from power. The Mirabal sisters commitment to
their cause raises the questions: What is courage, and which sister best exemplifies the qualities of
courage and why? Courage is an individual who defends their beliefs and does not fail because of fear.
Minerva best exemplifies courage through her selfless composure, resilience, and defiance to the
Trujillo regime, and her inspiration to others.
Minerva is extremely courageous against Trujillo and shows defiance to him personally. During the
novel, Minerva has a few direct confrontations with Trujillo. In these confrontations, she never backs
down to this powerful dictator, but shows great courage and wit. When Minerva is asked to dance with
Trujillo, she does not shy away from speaking her mind and letting her opinions be known. When
Trujillo makes an advance at her during the dance, she shows great

Among the general population of young adults aged eighteen to twenty four, homicide and suicide are,
respectively, the second and third leading causes of death. While no studies currently compare
homicide and suicide rates on campuses, the risk of homicide is generally lower, and many campus
professionals dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health promotion often refer to suicide as the
second leading cause of death among college students (Suicide Prevention Resource Center, 2004).

According to Durkheim there are four major types of suicide anomic, altruistic, egostic and fatalistic
suicides. Anomic is when people feel lost and alone, altruistic is when there are social factors, egostic

before they are taken to jail usually death by cop. Most college students would fall into the anomic
suicide they mostly feel lost or alone in a strange new place. The rate of suicide in college students can
be linked to depression, sexual orientation, and the fear of failure. Depression in college students is
one of the main factors of suicide Some of the triggers of college depression include being away from

Enough Is Enough Alain De Botton
When is Enough, Enough?
In his chapter Equality, Expectation, and Envy of his book Status Anxiety, Alain de Botton analyzes
the social anxieties of people. In his article, Botton explains the possible causes of these dilemmas,
and how these social issues affect our generation today. Throughout the chapter, Botton discusses
peoples longing to be better, the impact of equality on the world, and the realistic results of high
expectations and hopes. Although modern society seems to have had a tremendous improvement of
resources over many generations, people fear that enough is not enough. Society strives for more and
better things, even when they already have more and better things. Botton explains that we decide our
wants and set our limits by comparing ourselves to our reference groups (Botton 25) A reference
group is an assemblage of people in similar conditions as our own. We suddenly become hateful and

Burrito Research Paper
I was a huge fan of Los Burritos Tapatios and it was the greatest burrito place I tried. As you first enter
the store you are met by friendly staff and the smell of chicken and steak on the grill. Then you are
asked to order at a very fair price of $6.75. Then you are seated and given complimentary chips with
salsa (which are delicious I might add). After 5 minutes, you are served the chicken burrito as it is
fresh off the grill. As you take the first bite you are out sounded at the flavor of the chicken as it is
smoky and crispy, the tomatoes which add to the acidity of the burrito, and finally the soft flour tortilla
which practically melts in your mouth. After the initial mouth you take a bite of the burrito with salsa

Corn Ethanol Controversy And The Chemical Formula Of Ethanol
Corn Ethanol Controversy!
Ethanol (CH3CH2OH) is a clear, colorless liquid. It is also known as ethyl alcohol, EtOH, and grain
alcohol. Ethanol is widely produced by processing grains such as corn or starch and sugar crops. The
grain is first milled, then fermented with yeast and different enzymes to turn the grain s starches into
alcohol(EPA). A distillation process then increases the ethanol concentrations, basically the same
process a whiskey maker would use to make whiskey. Of course, law mandates that a denaturant is
added, making the liquid unsafe for drinking. In the process, waste grain is produced and sold as farm
animal feed. Bioethanol, can be made from many types of trees and grasses, but the procedure is much
harder. The chemical formula of ethanol is the same whether it is made from starch and sugar based
feedstocks, such as corn grain (widely used in United States), sugar cane (Brazil), or from cellulosic
feedstocks (such as wood chips or crop residues). (The Alternative Fuels Data Center)
In the United States, ethanol is primarily used as a blending element in the production of gas and as an
alternative fuel. More than 95% of the gasoline sold in the United States contains ethanol. Most of
ethanol blending into U.S. motor gasoline occurs to meet the requirements of the 1990 Clean Air Act
(RFG Fuel) and the Renewable Fuel Standard set forth in the Energy Independence and Security Act
of 2007. (U.S Energy Information Administration)

Examples Of Colonialism In A Small Place
Why does an author write about his/her feelings? Or maybe even why do they express their ideas?
Jamaica Kincaid, the author of A Small Place talks about the struggles she experienced through her
life. The key concept of her essay was various dealings she had during the British ruling in Antigua.
Understanding her point of view may be difficult, but one may get an idea of her thoughts by looking
through a Marxist, Postcolonial, and a Psychological lens. Throughout the essay Jamaica Kincaid
expresses her idea of the severe power imbalances that existed in Antigua. This is viewed through a
Marxist lens, which enables to analyze how the power is distributed and imposed. Kincaid evidently
reveals that the government is fully in control and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She feels that the Britishers showed their power everywhere and did not do anything that benefitted
the Antiguans. For example, a library which was very near and dear to the author was not well
maintained by colonialists. She mentions in her book that there is a sign that says, REPAIRS ARE
PENDING (Kincaid 9), and how there has been nothing done to repair the building. As the
government was very corrupt, they were caring for themselves. Kincaid also mentions that due to
racial segregation, she was very stressed and mentally weak. She describes how the natives should be
treated equally without any racial discrimination and desires to be a tourist. She mentions, Every
native would like to find a way out... every native would like a tour (Kincaid 18). This quote explains
on how the natives will never get the feeling of being free, how they will never sense the feeling of
luxury, and how they will always be in poverty. Jamaica Kincaid reveals that she lacks an actual
culture to live up to. She always says that the English ruined it for her. As Hirsh and Schweitzer wrote,
Kincaid lacks a real homeland . Kincaid also writes about the reason she changed her name, was
wanting to express her cultural identity. In an interview with Hirsh and Schweitzer, she said that she
renamed herself Jamaica Kincaid , because it suggested her West Indian

Stunting Research Paper
Everyone in the world has certain things that call their attention, something they may be good at
doing, and something they really enjoy. Many people have different talents, whether it be dancing,
baking, or singing. People also have talents and hobbies; some people play soccer while others play
instruments. I, on the other hand, like things that are more hands on, messy, challenging, and creative.
Some of the things that I enjoy are drawing and painting, stunting, and projects.
Drawing and painting is a wonderful way for someone to express themselves. Paintings highly support

I have been a cheerleader for four years (not consecutively), but the part I really enjoy is building
stunts. I am a back spot, so I lead my stunt group in the stunt we will be attempting. We have done so
many different stunts, and lately they have gotten a lot more smooth and they hit every time. We have
done Straight up Extensions, Liberties, Basket Tosses, Shoulder Sits, Pyramids, Full downs, and a few
other stunts that I cannot name off the top of my head. Hitting a stunt on the first try is the best feeling
in the world because it makes you feel like you can accomplish anything if you just practice and
strongly believe you can do it. Although stunting is fun, it is considered a contact sport, and for a very
good reason. A lot of the time a stunt does not hit or it just does not go up. This sometimes means the
top girl (flyer) fell, but thankfully my stunt group never lets her hit the floor. My stunt group, as well
as myself, always catch our flyer, but this leads us to get either bruises, hit in the face, hit in the chest,
and maybe even fell on. Even though stunting can be painful at times, it is very fun being able to

Homelessness In The United States
Everyone knows of homeless people, but not as many people actually know about homeless people. In
the U.S. there are over 3.5 million people who face homelessness each year. Many factors play into
why people become or end up homeless and it is different for everyone especially the various age
groups of the homeless population; homeless people are from all walks of life including minors,
adults, and elders. As sad as it is the truth is that people under 18 years make up 39% of the total
homeless population and 40% of those minors identify as LGBT. While the contributing reasons to
homelessness is seemingly never ending the main cause of youth homelessness is physical, sexual,
and/or emotional abuse from parents or guardians. For these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Contrary to belief shelters are not a walk in and receive housing type of deal, but rather there is a
process of calling the shelter and being put on a waiting list which often times take much longer than
what the caller was hoping for. With this in place and the fact that shelters are allowed to turn away
homeless people, most teens are rejected housing and sent elsewhere. Pat LaMarche says in her article
when a family presents itself to a homeless shelter and a teenager is present, the shelter agrees to take
the mom and younger kids if the teenaged children . . . leave them and go elsewhere, (LaMarche, 1).
So even when the whole family is homeless the teenager is still turned away and must go off on their
own. Another subject that often times causes young people to become homeless is emancipation.
When a teenager who lives within foster care turns 18 they are freed to face the world by themselves.
It s more like they are kicked out. In many instances the newlyfound adult won t have anyplace to go
to or end up moving into a bad housing situation only to find themselves without shelter shortly after.
California s own Department of Social Services concluded, 65 percent of emancipating youth lack

The Importance Of The Female Egg For Reproduction
Abstract From Aristotle and Plato studying animals. To 1653 William Harvey discovering the
importance of the female egg for reproduction. Anton Van Leeuwenhoek in 1678 used the microscope
to identify sperm as a seed. Elizabeth Osgood Goodrich Willard came up with the term sexology and
opened to the research to understand sex in a whole new level. In this paper we will learn about a
couple different sexologist and how they did the research on sex. Keywords: Havelock Ellis, Kurt
Freund, Richard von Krafft Ebing, Masters Johnson 1897 Havelock Ellis reflected his view of gays
and lesbians as having an inside out, or inverted pattern of erotic attraction. Ellis had a desire to
investigate the nature of sex. He needed to have a physiological understanding of humanity before he
turned his attention to the psychology. Ellis was determined then to become a physician. Despite his
training Ellis never made the practice of his medical training central to his professional life (Bering,
2013). One of this sexologist s most important contributions was his clarifying that homosexuality is a
psychological orientation, not simply a random sex act or behavior involving the same sex. He didn t
personally believe that gay and lesbians were perverts, but he used this term to convey how religious
moralist wrongly saw homosexuals and other deviants as deliberately going against what is right,
since for hundreds of years before it ever connoted anything sexual, pervert was an epithet

immigration have all this wonderful advantages that help create the safe and secure country of Canada

they have a act called the Immigration And Refugee Protection Act. This act has three key points to it:
to save lives, to meet the legal obligations that Canada has agreed too and lastly to offer a place of
refuge. This act was made because of the Singh Decision. In 1985 Canada supreme court ruled that the
1976 immigration act was a violation of section 7 of The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms
witch is the right to life, liberty and security of the person. After this discussion they came up with the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act that doesn t violate immigrants rights. Refugees are also very

Dramatic Play As A Great Developmental Learning Tool
When I arrived to Kidwatch Plus, I was assigned to a class where the children s age range from 4 to
4.5 years old. When I walking the class the children were finishing up with lunch. After lunch they
have 30 minute of free play. The teacher asked me to pick an area where I wanted to observe the
children and I picked the dramatic play area. In dramatic play children pretend to be someone or
something different than themselves. Dramatic play can be a great developmental learning tool
because it allows children to develop skills in areas such as abstract thinking, literacy, math, natural
and social studies, specially helps them to socialize with other children. The dramatic play area was
located in the right corner of the class. The dramatic play area consisted of a small kitchen and pretend
food, a cash register with cash and coins, multicultural dolls and strollers, and a closet with dress up
clothes, hats, scarves, feathers, purses, and shoppings bags. At the time of my observation, I was able
to witness free play of two girls and two boys, a third girl was on and off of the dramatic play area.
I stayed in the corner where I had access to the entire dramatic play area. I was able to hear and see
everything without disturbing and/or making the children uncomfortable by my presence there. Diego,
went to the closet and grab a police helmet, when the teacher asked him what he was doing he

7. Support for Government 7 4 There is little to no support for Cuban government. There are currently
political prisoners and human rights movements that are not legally recognized by the government.
Also Cuba has government agencies similar to KGB of Soviet Union, which strictly investigates and
under covers people opposed to government, this they refer to as security of state. This is something I
am hopeful will change followed by more freedom for Cuban citizens.
8. Influence of Anti Business 5 3 The government allows foreign business but has full control to
change anything they want.
9. Public Opinion of Foreign 4 2
Ownership
Public is kept unaware of most major foreign ownership. For example, there are small islands off the
major island, which have been sold to Italy, Spain and France. The general population is told that
Cuba owns 51% of these islands. However, it is all very unclear being that the islands operate with
Euros. Cubans are not allowed on these islands; therefore I would think they are not happy with these
foreign ownerships.

Deconstructing the Constructivism
Deconstructing the constructivism
The paradox of the norm
Deconstructing the subject is first to analyses historically, the formation of different layers that have
build the concept of the subject. When deconstruct the subject, it is important to analyze all the hidden
assumption that are implied with the philosophical, ethical, theatrical and the political use of the
concept of the subject.
Deconstructivist came to the public notice with 1982, the Parc de la Villette in Paris by Bernard
Tschumi s winning gantry. Deconstructivism attempts to move away from the supposing constricted
rules of modernist, such as form follows function, purity of form and truth to the materials. In
phycology with the use of free association techniques, we start to know the difference personalities of
human. We could say in general, the idea is to open the box and start to find out the center within. The
idea is to dismantle each of the elements and reform it into a different formation of language shown in
figure 1.
The concept of deconstruction, deconstructivism is a style, all styles have their previous
menophistation. In the early modernism is the heroic period where the white architecture as it is

Capitalize on Initial Excitement
As the Golden Knights prepare for their first season, it is vital that they capitalize on the excitement of
being the first professional sports team in Las Vegas. This entails selling enough tickets to fill the
arena and creating a buzz in the city to get people to start following the team and becoming fans. If
they can t create enough interest in the team during our first few years, it will create a bad first

Unappropriate Tv Shows for Children
Unappropriate Television Shows Abstract Children are being influenced by television shows on a
daily basis. Some children are watching inappropriate television shows such as SpongeBob, Fish
Hooks, Family Guy, South Park, Ed, Edd, Eddy, Scooby Doo, Boondocks and etc. These shows can
affect children as they grow up in many ways such as using profanity, violent and aggressive behavior,
poor school performance and watch too much television may cause a slight obesity. There are many

How is there such a big impact on them just because of watching television? Television can affect
learning and school performance if it interferes with the time kids need for activities crucial to healthy
mental and physical development. Some shows (SpongeBob) teaches that it is fine to commit an
inappropriate action because there will not be a punishment and kids feel that if they do the same thing
as their favorite character from the program who committed the crime they will be a hero. Researchers
have identified three potential responses to media violence in children: increase fear, desensitization to
real life violence, and increase aggressive behavior. It may desensitve kids so much they think it is
okay and no big deal for somebody to be hit or to hit someone in the head with a hammer. Kids who
view violent acts are more likely to show aggressive behavior, but also fear that the world is scary and
that everyday something bad will happen. Scary looking things like grotesque monsters especially
frighten children aged two to seven. Telling them that the images aren t real does not help because
kids under age eight can t always tell the difference between fantasy and reality (Television and

Ideology And Ideology

2. A worldview is a philosophy of life or concept of the world: a Christian world view revolves around
the battle of good and evil (University, 1884). A person s worldview can be affected by many factors

3. What is the difference between world view and ideology ? These two terms have a slightly
difference nuances in their meaning and in their connotation. Both these terms have a close meaning.
A way to distinguish between the two meanings is to take note that ideology is more proactive. The
ideology will dictate what your actions or policies are where a worldview is more of a perspective or
an explanation of the way that things are, for example a common worldview is that all humans life is

Peter Pan Reflection
Altering Tink Sam Taylor (CEO), once said, If we aren t willing to change and keep up with
innovation someone else will. If someone isn t motivated to move forward and create new ideas, there
will be someone else that will succeed in their place. People need change sometime, or their lives
would be dull, static, and boring. Change is crucial to a person s life to show dynamic differences in
their characteristics. It is important for people to be flexible and open minded in different experiences
to handle future circumstances. Change is the key to determine one s future. In J.M. Barrie s Peter
Pan, the character Tinker Bell is dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions, and motivations. To
start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind words. An example of this from
the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her ugly: He had to translate. She is not
very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is my fairy (Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is
shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she
creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn
t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern
for her feelings, and how she may have hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words,
her more cruel side, being churlish towards Wendy, that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker
Bell illustrates her dynamic self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance,
when Tink plays the role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time
for deeds;and with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and
drained it to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison
knowing it could kill either Peter or herself depending on who drank it. Tinker Bell shows a caring and
selfless side through an action that could kill her, but her love for Peter was so strong, she had no
choice. This makes her a protagonist. All in all, she was Peter s hero that night, and this explains how
Tink is not

Comparing Mother Of The Groom And To A Daughter Leaving Home
Mother of the Groom and To a Daughter Leaving Home Ricki Lake once said, Motherhood is the
greatest thing and the hardest thing. A mother giving birth to her child is the greatest thing. A mother
letting go of her child is the hardest thing. In the two poems, Mother of the Groom by Seamus Heany
and To a Daughter Leaving Home by Linda Pastan, the readers are able to understand the emotions of
how a mother feels for either her daughter or son leaving. Seamus Heany wrote the poem, Mother of
the Groom in 1966. This poem is about the grief and sorrow a mother encounters when her son is
getting married. It s like she s losing her son to marriage. The tone throughout the poem explains how
the mother does not want the son to leave her. Linda Pastan wrote, To a Daughter Leaving Home in
1988. This poem was bittersweet and emotional. The poem starts off by teaching the daughter how to

Pastan s poem was more relatable than Heany s was because it was in first person. Having the poem in
first person pulls in reader s heartstrings, and it organizes/structures the poem better. The reader is able
to feel the sadness and the pleasure a parent feels when their child grows up. Letting go of something
that s very close to a person s heart is the hardest thing a human can encounter. Children are with their
mothers from the beginning, not from birth, but from the moment they begin to develop in the
stomach. A mother has an attachment for the child, and it s hard to let go for

Coral Reef Importance
Sustainable Biomes
What Are Coral Reefs?
Livescience.com states that:
Coral reefs are expansive underwater structures which are built from stony corals that secrete calcium
carbonate to create their hard exoskeleton to protect their soft bodies. These corals consist of polyps
which are abnormal growths within the coral that cluster together to form groups. Coral reefs make up
one of the most significant marine ecosystems in the world today.
(https://www.livescience.com/40276 coral reefs.html )
Why Are Coral Reefs Important?
Alongside being one of the largest marine ecosystems in the world, coral reefs are significant for
many reasons, most of which fall under protection. But what do they protect and how do they protect
it?
Coral reefs provide coastal protection as they stop and lower wave action and erosion in shallow
shores which prevents damage to any nearby properties
Coral reefs protect the productive wetlands that lie along the coast as well as the highly productive
wetlands that are around ports and harbours
Human recreation such as fishing, snorkelling and scuba diving are all provided by the coral reefs. The
human recreation that is provided by the coral reefs benefit the people who work in the tourism
industry as they earn more money
Our earth s coral reefs are the spiritual and cultural centre for many people. For example, the
indigenous aborigines of Australia are spiritually connected to the coral reefs due to their traditional
ways of life. The

Memories In The Silent Cry
Each novel has specific themes or images it is attempting to portray throughout the text. The Silent
Cry is no exception to this attempt. After reading the novel, it soon became clear to me that the theme
of this novel is the importance of memories. I believe that the novel is trying to show how important
our memories are while highlighting the differences of these memories between family members
based on their life experiences. The first place where we can see the vastly different recollection of
memories is when the brothers are discussing S. Takashi has very fond memories of S bringing him
candy and being the leader of the village men. Mitsu, on the other hand, remembers quite a different S.
He recalls him being weak and the laughing stock of the town. He even goes so far to say that ... Show

Takashi sees him like a weak man and emphasizes the strength of his grandfather s brother. Mitsu
recalls something quite different. If we look at their memory of who went to Kochi first, grandfather
or his brother, we see that the confusion continues. Takashi claims that it was the brother who went up
to Kochi. Mitsu proclaims that it was their grandfather who went first. He recalls exact dates and uses
that in his arguments against his brother. Mitsu enjoys taking this memory way from his brother and
declares that he has the memory mistaken: That was what he wanted to believe, so he was almost
consciously ignoring the fact that it was wrong (Oe, Pg. 95) The importance of memories is key to
understanding the novel, but we must also focus on the idea of life experiences. I believe that the life
events that each of the brothers has experienced alter the way in which they recall memories. Mitsu
has been going through a rough time. His good friend just killed himself, and his wife just gave birth
to a son with medical issues. He is used to seeing difficult things and has no trouble recalling painful

Love Canal Population Health Issues
Population Health Effects: What has been the resulting effect on the health of the population exposed
at Love Canal?
Cytogentic findings:
One of the most prominent concerns regarding the industrial waste from the Love Canal was the risk
of genetic damage. A study was published in 1984 looked at the cytogenetic finds in individuals living
near the Love Canal (Heath et al., 1984). Two groups of Love Canal residents were studied, as well as
individual age and sex matched controls from another population in the Niagara Falls area that was
thought to be unexposed (Heath et al., 1984). Group 1 of the Love Canal study population included
individuals who lived in the first ring of homes abutting the canal in June 1978 and whose home also
tested ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is some evidence to support an association between higher incidence of low birth weights for
those specifically living in the swale areas during the period of active industrial dumping (Vianna
Polan, 1984) and those children who were born to mothers also living in areas with increased
industrial waste exposure (Austin et al., 2011). Additionally, there appears to be an elevated risk of
preterm birth among children born in the Love Canal compared to the NYS standard population
(Austin et al., 2011). However, overall, the resulting outcomes of exposure show some elevated SIR
compared to control populations but because of the limited numbers in many cases, it was hard to
determine this elevation was not due to chance

The Pros And Cons Of Direct Democracy In The United States
Direct democracy is a government in which the people decide. Direct democracy overall is a positive
thing, but as with everything, there can be some dangers. Direct democracy is a form of democracy in
which the people are able to vote and form consensus on policies directly. The people have the power
of recall, which gives the public the power to remove elected officials from office before the end of
their term if they do not feel they are doing a great job. California voters are also able to help make
laws by creating ballot propositions. Propositions are ideas voters have for new laws or changes to the
constitution. Direct democracy in California started in the early 1900 s, when many citizens in
California were unhappy with the state government. The citizens then created a system of initiatives
and referendums. Initiative is a proposal for a new law and a referendum allows the citizens to vote for
or against a law that the state assembly has passed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Direct democracy is supposed to promote a cooperative community, people have the power to speak
for their opinions. It promotes civic involvement and a meaningful society where informed decisions
are not just made by the government but by the public as well. The citizens are able to learn the
important information they need in order to understand issues of the government and laws that are
implemented. In a direct democracy the people are able to feel that their voice matters and that if the
majority of the public is against a law or feels that a person in office is not living up to what they said,
they have the right to either fix the law or remove the person from office. This feeling of a voice
makes the public more willing to get involved and care about the

  • 3. The Effects Of Gendered Representations On Advertising The Effects of Gendered Representations in Advertising This essay discusses the representations of women in media and advertising, including the effects they have on individuals in society. Firstly, I will review the literature on stereotypical gender roles within media and advertising. This will include traditional roles such as the housewife, and modern roles such as the sex object. Secondly, I will critically evaluate and examine the effects of these roles on women, and even men, in today s society. Effects include body dissatisfaction, thin idealisation and, in extreme cases, violence against women. Thirdly, I will aim to make conclusions on whether gender representations and roles within media have impacts on men and women in society. During the rise of the feminist movement in the late 20th century, a significant body of research emphasised that media and advertising can affect the behaviours, knowledge and beliefs of individuals. The mass media can influence attitudes and opinions, either immediately or gradually, which may shape social norms (Lazarsfeld, 1948, p.249). In particular, researchers have argued that advertising plays a huge role in affecting the attitudes and behaviours of individuals in society (Courtney and Lockeretz, 1971, Kolbe and Langefeld, 1991; Harrison and Hefner, 2006; Stankiewicz and Rosselli, 2008; Ifezue, 2010). • 5. Essay On Intolerance In The Crucible When facing change in society, people tend to become less tolerant and more intolerant. It is human instinct to fear those who are different and could cause a threat to society. This behavior was essentially demonstrated in The Crucible. When the Puritans faced change and felt a danger to their society they became increasingly intolerant of those who were against their strict Puritan beliefs. Even to this day, there are still those who are intolerant of others. Many of those in power have not learned from their mistakes, but rather commit the same ones their predecessors have made. The Puritan society in The Crucible became a breeding ground for intolerance and a past symbol for modern day intolerance because of the Puritan s strict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the start of the play Hale was totally pro witch trials, but as the trials progressed he began to see the big, ugly face of intolerance that was rearing its head. Once he saw this he distanced himself from the court by quitting it (Miller 521 524). The modern day version of this is all too common today. Many people, politicians, and businessmen get involved in groups that they are all for when they join them. Once these groups take a turn for the worse either because of their narrow mindedness or intolerance these people leave them. Simply condemning these groups and thoughts does not go far enough. In order to truly combat them they must be dealt with. Hale and the people of Salem did not go far enough to deal with the Salem Witch Trials and as a result many innocent lives were lost. The problem with intolerance and narrow mindedness is that it tends to be deeply rooted into a person s beliefs. Judge Danforth is a paragon for narrow mindedness in The Crucible. He demonstrates this narrow mindedness on numerous occasions. When he is given definite proof that Abigail is lying about her accusations, he ignores them and calls John Proctor a liar. Another example of this narrow mindedness was when his court was considered questionable by Reverend Hale. Hearing this accusation, Danforth swiftly reacts and reaffirms his beliefs in the authority of the court and denies any wrongdoing (521 531). Through this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Schlieffen plan had been created by Alfred Von Schlieffen but he had died before world war one started. The plan was meant to be foolproof. Moreover, patients often have less knowledge than the prescriber does about the appropriateness of the drug, where it can be very misinforming for the consumer. Lastly, drug efficacy is a problem in all contexts. Since stakeholders are likely, less informed than manufacturers it causes both the consumer and prescriber to depend on the manufacturer for information of the effectiveness of the drug (Bennett, Quick, Velasquez, 2016). Externalities, also viewed as the negative spillover effect, plays a role in market failures associated with pharmaceuticals. In the pharmaceutical sector, externalities take place when consumers affect the utilization of a drug s value. Externalities typically stop consumers from receiving cheaper costs for drugs because they normally don t carry the complete costs of drug expenses. Negative externalities induce a cycle of ongoing sales, more profits and more subsidies. Thus, if externalities are left to be controlled by a market then the implications will lead to high pricing on products. Dishonesty As A Vice, Is Universal And Timeless Essay Dishonesty, as a vice, is universal and timeless; according to the Bible, the very first humans on earth committed the first sin of deception. Patriarchal expectations governed not only women s physical and legal rights, but even inhibited their emotional states. Women were limited solely to the domestic sphere while their brothers, fathers, husbands, and sons pursued livelihoods outside the home. For a woman to be dissatisfied with the status quo and yearn for greater purpose than just raising children and obeying a husband was considered abnormal and unfeminine. Women had very few choices in life and very few opportunities to assert themselves, but they found that exploiting men through sex and romance was an effective way to gain some form of autonomy. Two influential political and philosophical authors of the time, Jean Jacques Rousseau and Mary Wollstonecraft, both found this kind of manipulation to be a prevalent issue. However, while Rousseau believes that this behavior proves women s cunning and inferior natures, Wollstonecraft is more forgiving. She argues that if the sexes were equal, women would not be forced to derive power by influencing men. In Discourse on the Origin of Inequality, published in 1755, Rousseau attempts to answer the question of what causes suffering in society. Throughout his treatise, when referring to the human race as a whole, he uses the word man. Exploring The Benefits And Difficulties Of Travel Accounts To understand the benefits and difficulties of travel accounts as primary sources, they need to be clearly defined and placed into their context. The main primary sources in I will be studying are British travel accounts produced between 1790 and 1800. Tim Young provides the basics for travel accounts stating, The guiding principle of this book is that travel writing consists of predominantly factual, first person prose of travels that have been undertaken by the author narrator. • 22. Corn Ethanol Controversy And The Chemical Formula Of Ethanol Corn Ethanol Controversy! Ethanol (CH3CH2OH) is a clear, colorless liquid. It is also known as ethyl alcohol, EtOH, and grain alcohol. Ethanol is widely produced by processing grains such as corn or starch and sugar crops. The grain is first milled, then fermented with yeast and different enzymes to turn the grain s starches into alcohol(EPA). A distillation process then increases the ethanol concentrations, basically the same process a whiskey maker would use to make whiskey. Of course, law mandates that a denaturant is added, making the liquid unsafe for drinking. In the process, waste grain is produced and sold as farm animal feed. Jamaica Kincaid, the author of A Small Place talks about the struggles she experienced through her life. The key concept of her essay was various dealings she had during the British ruling in Antigua. Understanding her point of view may be difficult, but one may get an idea of her thoughts by looking through a Marxist, Postcolonial, and a Psychological lens. Throughout the essay Jamaica Kincaid expresses her idea of the severe power imbalances that existed in Antigua. This is viewed through a Marxist lens, which enables to analyze how the power is distributed and imposed. Kincaid evidently reveals that the government is fully in control and ... As the government was very corrupt, they were caring for themselves. Kincaid also mentions that due to racial segregation, she was very stressed and mentally weak. She describes how the natives should be treated equally without any racial discrimination and desires to be a tourist. She mentions, Every native would like to find a way out... every native would like a tour (Kincaid 18). This quote explains on how the natives will never get the feeling of being free, how they will never sense the feeling of luxury, and how they will always be in poverty. We have done Straight up Extensions, Liberties, Basket Tosses, Shoulder Sits, Pyramids, Full downs, and a few other stunts that I cannot name off the top of my head. Hitting a stunt on the first try is the best feeling in the world because it makes you feel like you can accomplish anything if you just practice and strongly believe you can do it. Although stunting is fun, it is considered a contact sport, and for a very good reason. A lot of the time a stunt does not hit or it just does not go up. This sometimes means the top girl (flyer) fell, but thankfully my stunt group never lets her hit the floor. My stunt group, as well as myself, always catch our flyer, but this leads us to get either bruises, hit in the face, hit in the chest, and maybe even fell on. As sad as it is the truth is that people under 18 years make up 39% of the total homeless population and 40% of those minors identify as LGBT. Contrary to belief shelters are not a walk in and receive housing type of deal, but rather there is a process of calling the shelter and being put on a waiting list which often times take much longer than what the caller was hoping for. With this in place and the fact that shelters are allowed to turn away homeless people, most teens are rejected housing and sent elsewhere. Pat LaMarche says in her article when a family presents itself to a homeless shelter and a teenager is present, the shelter agrees to take the mom and younger kids if the teenaged children . . . leave them and go elsewhere, (LaMarche, 1). So even when the whole family is homeless the teenager is still turned away and must go off on their own. Another subject that often times causes young people to become homeless is emancipation. When a teenager who lives within foster care turns 18 they are freed to face the world by themselves. It s more like they are kicked out. If someone isn t motivated to move forward and create new ideas, there will be someone else that will succeed in their place. People need change sometime, or their lives would be dull, static, and boring. Change is crucial to a person s life to show dynamic differences in their characteristics. It is important for people to be flexible and open minded in different experiences to handle future circumstances. Change is the key to determine one s future. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, the character Tinker Bell is dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions, and motivations. To start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind words. An example of this from the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her ugly: He had to translate. She is not very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is my fairy (Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern for her feelings, and how she may have hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words, her more cruel side, being churlish towards Wendy, that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker Bell illustrates her dynamic self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance, when Tink plays the role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time for deeds;and with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and drained it to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison knowing it could kill either Peter or herself depending on who drank it. Additionally, there appears to be an elevated risk of preterm birth among children born in the Love Canal compared to the NYS standard population (Austin et al., 2011). However, overall, the resulting outcomes of exposure show some elevated SIR compared to control populations but because of the limited numbers in many cases, it was hard to determine this elevation was not due to chance ...
