Cosmetic Surgery
Beauty or Beast? Don t like the way you look? Ready for a quick and easy change? We can help you
with one simple cosmetic surgery. We have all heard or seen advertisements like this on television or
in magazines, but why is cosmetic surgery so appealing to people, especially women? Cosmetic
surgery is used all over the world to enhance one s features and make people happy, but is it worth it?
Is it beauty or is it a beast having cosmetic surgery done? There are many options and things to
consider when thinking about getting any kind of surgery. Body image is a huge aspect especially
when there is a demand for beauty by society. The cost of cosmetic surgery and the dangers are also
something to take into consideration, but there are many positives in getting this type of surgery. Body
image is a huge factor in advertisements. Many teenagers and young adults are drawn to how they
look according to others. Between the ages of eighteen and twenty, people grow and build their own
character. Advertisements for cosmetic surgery or other enhancers could greatly influence this group
of people. Diana Zuckerman, Ph.D. states that in 2012, more than 236,000 cosmetic procedures [were
performed] on patients between [the ages of] thirteen and nineteen (Zuckerman). That is a lot of
surgeries for young adults who aren t fully developed physically or mentally. According to

Statistics Purpose Statement
Statement of Purpose
Junru Xia
I first discovered my interest in statistics in my sophomore year at the University of California,
Berkeley. In a statistics lecture, the professor explained how statistics can be applied in real life by
giving an example that Amazon often promotes products by emailing its customers and recommending
products according to sophisticated analysis of customers search records, as well as their transaction
data. Previously having been immersed in the world of abstract statistics, I realized that in addition to
being an essential tool to confirm theories already proposed, data itself can lead to entirely new ideas.
The data patterns can be interpreted from many different perspectives, which triggered my eagerness
to explore the stories hidden in data and improve my understanding of the world through data analysis.
With a strong urge to enhance my quantitative foundation, I finished all my courses in mathematics
with high scores, and learned Python and Data Scientists Toolbox through Codecademy and ... Show

My job in the personal loan center was to assist in maintaining the database and generating
evaluations. One project which I was involved in was using personal credit scoring model to make a
risk forecast and detect bank fraud based on loan documentation in the database. During the project, I
realized that rather than just about complicated methods, statistics was about simplifying and making
sense. Sufficient data and in depth analysis can not only help companies make valuable decisions, but
also enable us to understand real life in a more direct and precise way. As the trend of information
explosion is inevitable, I am sure that the power of data will become increasingly overwhelming, and
the role of data analysis will be indispensable. Therefore, along with my goal to pursue graduate
studies in statistics, my desire to pursue a career in the field of data analysis was

New Soviet Man Essay
During the formation of the Soviet Union, leaders such as Stalin not only wanted to attain all
authoritarian and political based rule, but also wanted to attain and achieve a much more complicated
task. Several Soviet Union leaders wanted to attain what was known as the New Soviet Man . This
meant that all forms of society and communities would detach from their former ideals and fully take
on being a soviet and acknowledging the culture in a religious manner. This meant the eradication of
culture and all other religions Stalin disapproved of, and the formation and practice of one religion.
This also meant the disintegration of ethnic communities, and the detachment of religion, such as
islam. The acknowledgement of cultural diversity did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Soviet Union hope to attain the New Soviet Man , but in their attempts only made their state
situation much more dreadful by causing severe fragmentation within several ethnic groups, politics,
as well as the army. This cast upon the Soviets a very bad image, which when the Soviet Union
applied more tension, made their situation only worse. The Soviet Union became such a fragmented
Union that Gorbachev could no longer control the power of the population and was forced to resign,
and hence the fall of the Soviet Union. Political and Ethnic fragmentation contributed to the
disintegration of the Soviet Union by causing division in leadership, This division within the Soviet
leadership weakened its ability to respond to centrifugal forces and contributed to the central
authorities erratic response to them (Hunter et.al, 212), as well as prove that the New Soviet Man was
socially untenable, The notion that nationalities would willingly give up their cultural identities for the
common good, and that a unique soviet man would emerge was socially untenable. (Xenakis,

Child Labor and Academic Performance
Chapter I
The Problem and Its Background
A.Background of the Study
Child labour is a worldwide problem regardless of the economic status of a country. This social
phenomenon continues to exist both in developed and developing countries. The Philippines as one of
Newly Industrializing Countries, also encounters the same (C. Diaz, personal communication,
December 7, 2009).
Child labour is rampant in this country due to poverty. It deprives basic right to education and health
(Philippine Star, 1993). Many child labourers are forced to stop schooling due to the necessity of
contributing to family s income. Child labour with its goal to respond immediately to the basic need of
the household, deprives the child of the time to focus on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Strategic Planning
9 306 002 REV: JUNE 19, 2006 DAVID A. GARVIN LYNNE C. LEVESQUE Strategic Planning at
United Parcel Service We fully recognize that it is not possible to develop a true strategic plan more
than a few years out and that business plans should have an even shorter horizon. But we are
convinced that it is possible and wise, indeed necessary, to develop a set of very long range scenarios
that can form the foundation for our future strategic plans. Michael (Mike) J. Eskew, Chairman and

Count Olaf Argumentative Essay
I was in the 2nd grade when I met Count Olaf. Not in person, no. Through words, I stumbled upon the
greasy, unibrowed actor. As I read book after book in Lemony Snicket s A Series of Unfortunate
Events, Count Olaf came to life, and inspired to no end. Count Olaf is a distant relative of the
Baudelaire orphans. He is chasing their fortune by hatching schemes to become their guardian. Some
call him sleazy, greedy, evil. I call him determined, creative, and resourceful. He is an instrumental
figure in my life, guiding my choices and speaking to my future. He is responsible for my path in
theatre and is fueling my creativity. My motivation to do well and positive outlook on life, start and
end with Count Olaf. I learned most of what I know about acting from Count Olaf. Ever since I read
that he was the leader of an acting troupe, I have been inspired to live a life on the stage. Count Olaf
disguises himself into many different personalities. When I am playing a character, I ask myself

One of his henchman has a hook. Count Olaf does not see Fernald as a freakish creature. He sees him

Count Olaf? He taught me to not be quick to judge. His future girlfriend and co conspirator, Esme

capable member of Olaf s team. It doesn t matter to Count Olaf that she is a woman. What matters to
Olaf is how effective she is at carrying out his creative schemes. If I ever find myself judging

Essay on The Ethical Values Held in Accounting, A...
Every profession faces a multiple of ethical challenges on a daily bases, this can be clearly witnessed
in the accounting profession. The main focus of this literature review is to discuss the ethical values
held in this profession and to also explore the ethical challenges that they face. Professional ethics for
accountants is all about making sure that accountants carry out their duties to the highest standard
possible and in a very professional manner. A code of ethics is designed to make sure that ideal
behaviour is being carried out and it must be enforceable and realistic. From reading a variety of
literature the core principles of the code of ethics are as follows: integrity, objectivity, professional
competence and due care, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the quality from which public trust derives and the benchmark against which a member must
ultimately test all decisions. Smith (2003, p47) From reading this Smith feels that anyone working in
the accounting profession must be trained and equipped to a high standard at implementing moral
judgement so that they can consider the well being of those that will face the consequences of their
actions.
Citron (2003) examined how and when these ethical values came about. It
..was developed at a time of mounting levels of criticism of the auditing profession.
Therefore it was a move that the UK Chartered Accountants Joint Ethics Committee felt that was
needed in order to make sure that ideal behaviour was being carried out and to also make sure that all
accountants were doing all their work to a high standard.
However like everything when the ethical values that are integrity, objectivity, professional
competence and due care, confidentiality and professional behaviour are complied with, it can still
leave accountants to be faced with many potential ethical dilemmas. Jackling, Cooper, Leung and
Dellaportas (2007) carried out an online survey in relation to ethical issues and put it forward to sixty
six different professional accounting bodies. They found out from their research that the largest ethical

Albert Camus The Guest
The Guest, by Albert Camus, is about an alleged murderer who is handed over to a solitary
schoolmaster who lives in his schoolhouse on top of a plateau in the Atlas Mountains. Daru, the
schoolmaster, is ordered by an old acquaintance to deliver a supposed murderer, the Arab, to the police
in a nearby town where he will most likely be sentenced to death for killing his cousin. The problem
Daru has with this order is that he believes that it is dishonorable to kill murderers, even though the
Arab s crime revolted him. Eventually Daru decides to not make any decision and gives the decision
of the Arab s life over to the Arab, who decides to go towards Tinguit and the police. Set in the middle
of World War II, Camus story centers around morality ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Balducci, who at this point still cares somewhat for Daru, tells Daru that he ll not denounce Daru, or
tell the French that Daru has decided to disobey orders to transport the prisoner away from a zone of
forthcoming revolt. Daru however tells Balducci that he is not going to lie about him disobeying
orders which frustrates the gendarme who cares about Daru and is trying to keep Daru out of trouble.
Another instance of foreshadowing happens right as the story is coming to a close. The prisoner has
decided to turn himself in, for unknown reasons, and Daru is left staring out the window. Due to the
outsider view of the events in the story, we see that the people the Arab was being transported away
from tracked him to Daru s schoolhouse and now blame Daru for the Arab s decision to turn himself in
to the French authorities. They leave a note for Daru, vaguely describing how Daru is now in trouble
from the Algerian Resistance for handing over their brother to the French authorities. This after the
fact foreshadowing helps show how Daru s decision between handing over the prisoner or releasing
him was more of a decision of how his demise would happen and less about whether to choose
between what s right and what s

Compare And Contrast Edmund Spenser And Sonnet 5
How does one gain immortality? According to Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 1599), William Shakespeare
(1564 1616) and Michael Drayton (1563 1631) you do it through poetry. In their respective sonnets
Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand), Sonnet 18 (Shall I compare thee to a summer s
day?) and Sonnet 6 (How many paltry, foolish, painted things) they each tackle the topic of living
forever through writing. While all three of these sonnets share the common subject matter of
preserving someone through sonnets, do they present them in a similar manner? What senses do each
poet use to get his point across? That will be the point of discussion in this essay, first looking at each
of the sonnets separately and then comparing the different ways in which they appeal to the senses.
Edmund Spenser s Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand) is written in the Spenserian
sonnet form, with 14 lines brought together in 3 quartets and 1 couplet with a rhyming pattern of

Both Shakespeare and Spenser have the conflict of the natural, with Spenser and the waves and
Shakespeare with the metaphorical changing of seasons. Drayton s conflict seems to be on a more
human level, as his focus is what women to come will think of his woman and how they will see her
as superior. Unlike Spenser who preserves the object of his sonnet through the dialogue, Shakespeare
preserves it through the visual imagery. Drayton also has a clear visual emphasis throughout his
sonnet, even though his language has an added pride and sense of superiority to it that are not present
in the others. While the object of his sonnet is their sex s only glory (Drayton, line 12) there is little to
describe the woman herself, and more as to how others shall remember her in awe and how she will
live on through his words. This sets Drayton s sonnet a bit apart from the

The Warriors Heart Important Quotes
The Credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena... who strives valiantly, who knows the
great enthusiasm, the great devotions, and who spends himself in worthy causes. Who, at best, knows
the triumph of high achievement, and who, at worst, if he fails, fails while daring greatly, so that his
place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat by Theodore
Roosevelt. I agree with this quote because if you don t work hard for what you want or what you
trying to do, who going to notice to give you and credit. It s okay to fail, knowing you did everything
you can. In The Warriors Heart by Eric Greiten deserves a lot of credit for being a navy seal, going to

The Importance Of Refugees In Australia
Asylum seekers or refugees have fled their countries due to volatile circumstances such as war, or fear
of prosecution. Upon arrival in Australia they are moved to detention centres. Detention centres hold
people who have come without a visa, any non national and all unauthorised boat arrivals (Australian
Human Rights Commission, 2014). These centres hold refugees for indefinite periods and in poor
conditions. They are used as a spectacle to represent illegality and a threat to Australian society
(Marfleet, 2007, p672).
The spectacle of detention centres does not only lie within public perception but also within the
architecture of the facility (Grinceri, 2016, p170 171). The barbed wired fence of detention centres is
an example. It allows the spectators (citizens) to witness the enclosure of refugees while
simultaneously binding refugees within its constraints, punishingly (Pugilese, 2008, p206 207). The
visibility provided by the wired fence enables photography and videoing, thus acting as a spectacle.
This spectacle is related to the ideals of torture. They are tortured and punished based on exclusions
and exception. The refugees held in detention centres form the exception. They are the Other which no
one wishes to become and are a danger to society. Those tortured are viewed as deserving because
they are seen as a threat. The power to make decisions about who can and cannot enter Australia lies
within the (Government) Sovereignty (Georgatos, 2017). The sovereign

Painted Door Women
Every character was created by the author for a purpose. As readers journey through Wharton s Tales
of Men and Ghosts short story collection, they might be inclined to overlook one of the most
important aspect: the minor characters, for they hold great significance. Amongst these minor
characters are female characters who play plot twisting roles. Through them, Wharton subtly breaches
the societal expectations of her time by inserting this concept that women too play an important role in
society. In addition, Wharton s characters refute the haunting words of Queen Victoria: Let women be
what God intended, a helpmate for a man, but with totally different duties and vocations (Trueman).

As Mary Boyne lead readers through the world of Afterward , readers heard but one clear note, the
voice of Alida Stair, speaking on the lawn at Pangbourne (Wharton 140). Her iconic words that played
a pivotal role in the narrative began and ended the story. They revealed the story. The impact her
words possess, however, escalates knowing they came from the mouth of a woman. Unlike the girl on
the bench, Alida Stair could ve been male. Wharton intended readers to remember the words of a
woman to prove they can hold as great of significance as words that came from a man. Showing that a
woman held the answer is like declaring that women are the answer that society have long sought for.
The world didn t realize till long, long afterward women s treasure like potential that have since

The New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation Essay
The New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation established the Brookhaven landfill in
March 1974. Since then, residents have revealed many health concerns and other relative issues
against the placement of the landfill. The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR)
has been addressed in regards to a necessary public health consultation to draw attention to these
concerns. After further cooperative agreements amongst the New York State Department of Health
(NYS DOH) and ATSDR, a public health consultation was reached. Many solutions have been
uncovered; however, the outcome has yet to be determined as it is evident that a reasonable response
must be initiated through the cooperation of the government and community. The Brookhaven landfill
has created a number of problems for the citizens living near the establishment. Not only is it an
unsightly addition to the community, but the putrid stench proposes a grave problem concerning the

Descartes And Spinoza On Nature Of God
When it comes to life s unanswerable questions, philosophers have always been prepared to provide
possible explanations on what they believe and try to further discuss difficult topics. This is certainly
the case when it comes to Descartes and Spinoza, who are both adamant that their views provide the
correct context and insight on their opinions of God. In Readings in Modern Philosophy by Ariew and
Watkins, it is revealed that while both philosophers tend to agree on opinions like God being infinite,
there are many reasons why Descartes and Spinoza disagree on the nature of God and their opinion of
substance, for example, Descartes believes that there is more than one type of substance, while
Spinoza argues that God is the only substance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes back to the idea of God being infinite because he acknowledges that a substance like God
will always persist regardless of if anyone was there to think him into existence. In addition, the view
that God is a morally good and just substance plays a significant role in Descartes beliefs, without it,
many of his ideas wouldn t be as secure, such as his beliefs of physical objects, he explains this when
he states, Now there clearly is in me a passive faculty of sensing, that is, a faculty for receiving and
knowing the ideas of sensible things; but I could not use it unless there also existed, either in me or in
something else, a certain active faculty of producing or bringing about these ideas... (RMP, 51). This is
one way that Descartes argues that the nature of God is supremely good. It shows that Descartes doesn
t think that God is a deceiver, this is important because it revelas how he views God s nature, as an
inherently good because he explains that if we are deceived by God then he must not be real because
God is not a deceiver.
Alternatively, Spinoza s ideas of the nature of God differ greatly. To begin, Spinoza views God as the
only infinite substance that has an infinite amount of distinct attributes. He believes that God exists
necessarily and that created substances are nonexistent. He defines substance by stating, Substance
which we understand to be through itself supremely perfect and in which nothing can be

being in the United States. With the help of Jim Crow laws, exclusionary zoning, and the On Your
Own Home campaign, banks and real estate agents had provoked economic discrimination towards
various ethnic minority groups. Furthermore, through the concepts of dysfunctionalism, social
inequality, latent functionalism, and Eurocentrism as seen in The Real World, racial zoning has
negatively affected African Americans from breaking out of what the world considers them to be.

With this intention, banks and real estate agents will no longer be readily available in urban
communities, but in suburban regions. The reasoning for this stem back to the overall goal of keeping
African Americans separate from whites. Now, however, without banks and real estate agents, urban
communities do not have the same privilege as someone from a suburban household. This is viewed
through the concepts of social inequality and Eurocentrism because of the unwillingness of whites;
there is an unequal distribution of prestige regarding African American rights. In conclusion, African
Americans were targeted for the ideology of racial zoning. Jim Crow laws, exclusionary zoning, and
the On Your Own Home campaign, all helped support this ideology and furthermore established what

Difference Between Studying Medicine And Studying Business
Studying Medicine vs. Studying Business Medicine and business are the most popular career options
for freshman students . While comparing and contrasting them we can see a lot of differences and
similarities. These are two of the most demanding choices and both have a variety of options. Even
though both careers demand sacrifice, discipline and pressure, it will depend on the student to choose
a career that will go according to time and cost available to spend and the income amount he wishes.
One of the most notable differences between these two vocations is time. It takes a lot of years to
complete a medical career. Because these major changes over time, new things get discovered such as
medicine and cures. The basic studies begin with pre medicine that takes at least 6 years and each
degree can take 4 years each. Medical students also have to do internships and hospital training that

that affect it like the economy. Business is about playing with the economy to your advantage, being
clever and able to handle the demand and compromise.

Europe is low labor costs, and it benefits from work subcontracted from other territories. Lastly, there

The Story of Sam Patch
Paul Johnson utilizes monograph to recount the story of Sam Patch, an intoxicated working class
spinner who got praised for leaping off waterfalls in the late 1820s. In spite of the fact that the
chronicled record is spotty, Johnson arranges Patch inside an arrangement of more extensive subjects
dependent upon the areas of his bounced. To start with, experiencing childhood in the factory town of
Pawtucket, Johnson tells an account of seized patriarchy: Sam s father was a craftsman shoemaker

the rise of compensation work and diminishing area holding, both of which served to undermine the

The Marketing Model Canvas As An Analytical Framework
Critique
Our group has used the Business Model Canvas as an analytical framework to evaluate The Fun
Center and generate recommendations to further improve the delivery of its value proposition. The
Fun Center aims to provide children with an exciting and safe place to have fun by providing an array
of arcade games, food and beverages, and event hosting. We made no changes to the general premise
of the Business Plan, but rather we fine tuned the aspects we felt lacked clarity. The gaps that we
originally identified in the first version of the Business Plan were minor and posed little threat to the
company s overall success. However, we felt that The Fun Center s lack of distinctiveness would limit
the company in terms of potential growth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Recommendation 1: Market to Children and Parents
Our analysis of the Business Model Canvas has revealed a minor hole in the channels section. We feel
as though the company s business plan failed to account for a very significant customer segment: kids.
Currently, marketing is directed towards arcade enthusiasts and middle to upper class adults. The hope
is that parents will be intrigued by the company s value and bring their children to the arcade.
However, considering that the value proposition seeks to serve children ages 5 12 as a target customer
segment, the Business Model Canvas would suggest that a channel should exist to directly connect
The Fun Center s value to children. In addition to advertising to adults with traditional methods, we
recommend that The Fun Center also market directly to children in order to improve reputation and
garner more interest. For example, advertising The Fun Center on children s shows and radio stations
will communicate to children in ways that are already familiar and comfortable to them. According to
small business advice from Hearst newspapers, it would cost 200 to 1,500 dollar to commercially
advertise The Fun Center on a local station, a small investment for a large long term benefit (Wagner,
2015). In in the same way they react to new toys and cereal, they will ask their parents to bring them

The Pros And Cons Of Cognitive Therapy
Theory
The definition of cognitive relates to the activity that goes on within the mind, such as thoughts,
perception, and memory (Cognitive, n.d.), and behavior is understood as the manner that a person
handles their acts (Behavior, n.d.). Cognitive therapy (CT) focuses on how the processes that happen
within the mind and connects them with the physical symptoms that occur, and help to prove the role
that thoughts play in behavior. (Kingdon Dimech, 2008) The focus of behavioral therapy is to exclude
unwanted behaviors and strengthen and reinforce beneficial behaviors (Cherry, 2017). So, when the
two are combined together, the two are looking at how a person s mindset can shape the way that they
act, which is what cognitive behavioral therapy is about. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) began in
the 1960s through Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and is now the most common studied form of psychotherapy
(Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). This form of therapy has also been proven that when
handling any disorder that can experience an episode that through this therapy it can help prevent
another episode from reoccurring (Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). Through this
process, it will allow the patient to see that they are in charge of their behaviors and thoughts. It also
allows them to realize when there is a chance of a relapse occurring, so that way they know how to
help prevent themselves from not having control of their thoughts and behaviors.

Tommy John Research Paper
Tommy John Surgery
Tommy John surgery, or more well known as ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, is a surgery in
which a ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a ligament from elsewhere in the body. This
replacement ligament is usually taken from the forearm, hamstring, or foot of the patient. This
ligament is needed for everyday things such as twisting a doorknob. This injury is usually seen in
professional baseball pitchers because of the daily repetitive throwing and because of violent motions
from throwing a baseball. RA Dickey was born without a UCL and pitches in the majors. Doctors still
do not know how he can do this because you should not be able to do anything this way.
A torn elbow ligament was the most common cause of The Dead Arm Injury era, the 20th century.
This was uncommon before this time. Long before then, because of the lack of research on the injury,
this gave pitcher s a 1 in 100 chance of returning and being able to pitch. Until in 1974
Dr. Frank Jobe developed a procedure for pitcher Tommy John (who the surgery was named after).
With vivid research of the ligaments inside the medial elbow he developed a way to make the elbow
back to normal strength or in some cases much more stronger. This surgery consisted of the new
tendon being implanted and woven in a figure eight pattern through holes ... Show more content on

pitchers to have to undergo this surgery at one point in their career. Some people believe this is

home run. This is just a small glimpse for parents into the world of sports and competition where their

There is a lot of controversy about use of medication in children with ADHD. Organized sports offer
many another options for parents and kids. The benefits include, a decrease in risky behavior, better
sportsmanship and easier integration into the social setting (Lullo and Van Puymbroeck 20 24) .
Organized sports help kids with learning how to show control and interact positively with their peers.
The hope is that this will help overflow into their everyday lives. Millions of children play sports for
fun but there are many other benefits for kids. The number of overweight children in the U.S. seems to
be increasing, Twenty percent of U.S. children are overweight (Becerra, Children) . Overweight
children have a better chance of becoming overweight adults. Encouraging children to be involved in
sports and staying away from the video games is a great start. Making exercise and sports fun for kids

Aqualisa Quartz Essay
Aqualisa Quartz
What is the Quartz value proposition to Plumbers and to the Consumers?
The value proposition to the plumbers is the relative ease of installation that reduces the time by up to
1.5 days over a standard shower installation. The Quartz design allows for less repeat trips to fix
problems at their own expense. Further, they can pass along the installation jobs to their apprentices.

2. Why is the Quartz not selling?
The Quartz sales are suffering for many reasons primarily due to positioning errors on the part of the
Aqualisa management. The market entry strategy is ill defined and lacks a clear direction. They have
failed to hone in on a target niche as well as to develop an effective product induction strategy. This is
further exacerbated by the lack of buy in on the part of their most important allies in the sales
processes the plumbers.
Furthermore, the enduring perception that electric showers are inherently faulty and inferior products
has continued to plague the shower industry en masse. The faulty electronics have historically proven
more costly to plumbers who must cough up their own money to cover repair costs.
It s also clear Aqualisa hasn t done a good job in managing its product lifecyles to proactively to stay
ahead of its competitors. They continue to gain on the Aqualisa market share and are only 2 years
behind Aqualisa and closing fast.
On the sales and marketing end, teams are focusing about 90% of their attention on existing customers
and not targeting new ones.
Brand awareness in the entire segment is very poor among consumers that often defer to plumbers or
developers to select the shower unit for their bathrooms.

Strong Proactive Information Security Measures
Strong proactive information security measures in an organization could mean the difference between
a data breach and normal business. As it stands, attackers are getting more persistent, better at finding
out confidential information, and constantly finding new ways to gain access to internal networks. In
order to meet the rising threat, organizations must be able to defend themselves properly. While
standard perimeter defense measures can accept and deny connections, they lack a strong deterrent to
ensure there will be no future attacks. This report focuses on an intrusion technology that will gather
information and use it to recraft a similar attack back to the attacker in hopes that a much stronger
message will be sent.
1. Introduction
With cyber attacks on organizations becoming more frequent, and with the need to keep organizations
secure, counter measures must be taken. While firewalls can help to prevent attacks, simply dropping
packets and declining services is becoming an inefficient message to send to attackers. Taking existing
perimeter defense techniques, like firewalls, and amplifying them to create a new style of device that
will respond to attacks is the next step in firewall technology. With these Offensive Perimeter Devices
(OPDs), organizations can fight back. Imagine being able to replicate the attack that is in progress and
use it against the attackers. The OPD will help to eliminate Denial of Service attacks and ultimately
keep an organization up

Realism And Realist Approaches To International Relations
On the other hand, they also share similar qualities and characteristics. Both theories realize how our
world is more than capable of being a dangerous place and we should not assume we are safe at all
times. Military power is recognized as being important and pragmatic, and it is understood this power
can easily be abused, as much as it can be functional. Another common realization between idealist
and realist approaches is because there is no absolute government having power over all countries,
countries can essentially do whatever they want to each other, which includes inflicting terror, because
there really isn t anything stopping them.
While it is true the two approaches to international relations share some common beliefs, these beliefs
are greatly outweighed by their differences. Their fundamental beliefs about how the world should
function are in opposition, and they place varying levels of importance on power. Yes, military power
is seen as crucial for both but realists see the military as being the sole, relevant type of power, while
idealists see the opposite. They do not think military power is the most important type, and it even
takes a backseat to moral and economic powers. Another major difference is their view on total world
government. On one hand, idealism seeks to create a united world government, which would help
create peace around the globe. On the other hand, realism believes this would not be successful as it is
impossible to coerce all countries to cooperate and participate in this. Realists realize countries will be
primarily looking out for themselves, and unless it greatly benefitted them, would probably not do
something just to help out other countries.
The term anarchy is often associated with realism along with the concept of no international
government. When people hear the term, anarchy, a very negative and violent image most likely
comes to mind, but that is not what the realist approach represents. Realists argue the absence of a
common government simply pushes countries to be independent and to help themselves, it does not
fuel conflict or terror. Another difference between the two is who they think the states are concerned
about, and what they want. Idealists

gold color stood out to me. I noticed value in the colors were the black was on the dark blue. The

Robert Frost s Desert Places
One of the most monumental poetic works of T.S Eliot is The Waste Land . The poem emerges as a
gigantic metaphor for melancholy, loneliness, solitude the unavoidable companions of human
existence. Similar kinds of feelings are evoked by Robert Frost in Desert Places .
The very title is suggestive of a mood of emptiness. Throughout our life we cross various deserts to
find our destiny. The beauty of the poem lies in the conjunction the meeting point desert outside in the
nature with the desert inside. This becomes the focal point of the poem. The dreary opening is

lonesome man crystallizes his loneliness in this snowy covering.
Such is the impact of the natural cohesiveness that the poet, as he observes the natural panorama,
regards himself as an intruder in this unit. The poet relishes the pleasure that the animals are having as
they crouch in their lairs, becoming a part of the nature. The animals manage to develop a correlation
with the nature because they don t complain due to a feeling of unconsciousness while the poet does
complain, he does give vent to his feeling as his perceptive mind ponders over the cold hard realities.
Realities that whether he matters in this whole setup? The strain in the emotional chords of the poet
endow a strange minor tone to the whole poem as he realizes that his benumbed mind has failed to
draw a relation and so he grooves back into his own self.
The whole of the second stanza is brimming with the realization of being deprived.
It becomes his callousness and stubbornness to enter the realm of nature and endowed to him by the
sense of being lonely and deprived. The recognition of this sense of loneliness and dispossession
results in his mind being at a loss to emotional response. In this mind set he gives way to the
benumbing mood all around. The whole nature is showing a moodic deceleration because of the snow
and the night. In direct contrast to its nature, this

A Case For A Partnership Agreement
10. Kathleen and Jim are business partners at a consulting firm. Upon Jim s sudden death, his widow
claims that she is entitled to a share of the firm s assets or should be able to take his Jims place as
Kathleen s partner. Is she entitled to her claims? Why or why not?
The outcome of this case depends on whether or not a partnership agreement was formed prior to the
partner s death. If the partnership agreement wasn t formed, general partnership State statues will take
default (Clarkson, 2015, p. 721). However, a partnership agreement will always override state laws. If
the provisions allow the partnership to continue after a partner s death, the wife will be entitled to her
husband s shares and if the provisions don t state otherwise she will also be able to take over his place
in the firm (Wright, 2016). If a partnership agreement does not exist, most states will require a
partnership to dissolve after a partner s death. The deceased partner s shares will be used to pay off
any debts or obligations and the remainder funds will be distributed to the surviving partners (Wright,
2016). If the deceased partner includes his wife in his will, then a portion of the funds will be
distributed to his wife after the dissolution. If his will is in probate, the funds will be distributed to his
estate (Wright, 2016). A major disadvantage of not having a partnership agreement, is the risk of the

  • 3. Statistics Purpose Statement Statement of Purpose Junru Xia I first discovered my interest in statistics in my sophomore year at the University of California, Berkeley. In a statistics lecture, the professor explained how statistics can be applied in real life by giving an example that Amazon often promotes products by emailing its customers and recommending products according to sophisticated analysis of customers search records, as well as their transaction data. Previously having been immersed in the world of abstract statistics, I realized that in addition to being an essential tool to confirm theories already proposed, data itself can lead to entirely new ideas. The data patterns can be interpreted from many different perspectives, which triggered my eagerness to explore the stories hidden in data and improve my understanding of the world through data analysis. With a strong urge to enhance my quantitative foundation, I finished all my courses in mathematics with high scores, and learned Python and Data Scientists Toolbox through Codecademy and ... One project which I was involved in was using personal credit scoring model to make a risk forecast and detect bank fraud based on loan documentation in the database. During the project, I realized that rather than just about complicated methods, statistics was about simplifying and making sense. Sufficient data and in depth analysis can not only help companies make valuable decisions, but also enable us to understand real life in a more direct and precise way. As the trend of information explosion is inevitable, I am sure that the power of data will become increasingly overwhelming, and the role of data analysis will be indispensable. Therefore, along with my goal to pursue graduate studies in statistics, my desire to pursue a career in the field of data analysis was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This meant that all forms of society and communities would detach from their former ideals and fully take on being a soviet and acknowledging the culture in a religious manner. This meant the eradication of culture and all other religions Stalin disapproved of, and the formation and practice of one religion. This also meant the disintegration of ethnic communities, and the detachment of religion, such as islam. The acknowledgement of cultural diversity did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Soviet Union hope to attain the New Soviet Man , but in their attempts only made their state situation much more dreadful by causing severe fragmentation within several ethnic groups, politics, as well as the army. This cast upon the Soviets a very bad image, which when the Soviet Union applied more tension, made their situation only worse. The Soviet Union became such a fragmented Union that Gorbachev could no longer control the power of the population and was forced to resign, and hence the fall of the Soviet Union. Political and Ethnic fragmentation contributed to the disintegration of the Soviet Union by causing division in leadership, This division within the Soviet leadership weakened its ability to respond to centrifugal forces and contributed to the central authorities erratic response to them (Hunter et.al, 212), as well as prove that the New Soviet Man was socially untenable, The notion that nationalities would willingly give up their cultural identities for the common good, and that a unique soviet man would emerge was socially untenable. LEVESQUE Strategic Planning at United Parcel Service We fully recognize that it is not possible to develop a true strategic plan more than a few years out and that business plans should have an even shorter horizon. But we are convinced that it is possible and wise, indeed necessary, to develop a set of very long range scenarios that can form the foundation for our future strategic plans. Michael (Mike) J. • 7. Count Olaf Argumentative Essay I was in the 2nd grade when I met Count Olaf. Not in person, no. Through words, I stumbled upon the greasy, unibrowed actor. As I read book after book in Lemony Snicket s A Series of Unfortunate Events, Count Olaf came to life, and inspired to no end. Count Olaf is a distant relative of the Baudelaire orphans. He is chasing their fortune by hatching schemes to become their guardian. Some call him sleazy, greedy, evil. I call him determined, creative, and resourceful. He is an instrumental figure in my life, guiding my choices and speaking to my future. He is responsible for my path in theatre and is fueling my creativity. My motivation to do well and positive outlook on life, start and end with Count Olaf. I learned most of what I know about acting from Count Olaf. Ever since I read that he was the leader of an acting troupe, I have been inspired to live a life on the stage. Count Olaf disguises himself into many different personalities. The main focus of this literature review is to discuss the ethical values held in this profession and to also explore the ethical challenges that they face. Professional ethics for accountants is all about making sure that accountants carry out their duties to the highest standard possible and in a very professional manner. A code of ethics is designed to make sure that ideal behaviour is being carried out and it must be enforceable and realistic. • 9. Albert Camus The Guest The Guest, by Albert Camus, is about an alleged murderer who is handed over to a solitary schoolmaster who lives in his schoolhouse on top of a plateau in the Atlas Mountains. Daru, the schoolmaster, is ordered by an old acquaintance to deliver a supposed murderer, the Arab, to the police in a nearby town where he will most likely be sentenced to death for killing his cousin. The problem Daru has with this order is that he believes that it is dishonorable to kill murderers, even though the Arab s crime revolted him. Eventually Daru decides to not make any decision and gives the decision of the Arab s life over to the Arab, who decides to go towards Tinguit and the police. Daru however tells Balducci that he is not going to lie about him disobeying orders which frustrates the gendarme who cares about Daru and is trying to keep Daru out of trouble. Another instance of foreshadowing happens right as the story is coming to a close. The prisoner has decided to turn himself in, for unknown reasons, and Daru is left staring out the window. Due to the outsider view of the events in the story, we see that the people the Arab was being transported away from tracked him to Daru s schoolhouse and now blame Daru for the Arab s decision to turn himself in to the French authorities. They leave a note for Daru, vaguely describing how Daru is now in trouble from the Algerian Resistance for handing over their brother to the French authorities. This after the fact foreshadowing helps show how Daru s decision between handing over the prisoner or releasing him was more of a decision of how his demise would happen and less about whether to choose between what s right and what s ... According to Edmund Spenser (c. 1552 1599), William Shakespeare (1564 1616) and Michael Drayton (1563 1631) you do it through poetry. In their respective sonnets Sonnet 75 (One day I wrote her name upon the strand), Sonnet 18 (Shall I compare thee to a summer s day?) and Sonnet 6 (How many paltry, foolish, painted things) they each tackle the topic of living forever through writing. While all three of these sonnets share the common subject matter of preserving someone through sonnets, do they present them in a similar manner? What senses do each poet use to get his point across? That will be the point of discussion in this essay, first looking at each of the sonnets separately and then comparing the different ways in which they appeal to the senses. Drayton s conflict seems to be on a more human level, as his focus is what women to come will think of his woman and how they will see her as superior. Unlike Spenser who preserves the object of his sonnet through the dialogue, Shakespeare preserves it through the visual imagery. Drayton also has a clear visual emphasis throughout his sonnet, even though his language has an added pride and sense of superiority to it that are not present in the others. While the object of his sonnet is their sex s only glory (Drayton, line 12) there is little to describe the woman herself, and more as to how others shall remember her in awe and how she will live on through his words. Upon arrival in Australia they are moved to detention centres. Detention centres hold people who have come without a visa, any non national and all unauthorised boat arrivals (Australian Human Rights Commission, 2014). These centres hold refugees for indefinite periods and in poor conditions. They are used as a spectacle to represent illegality and a threat to Australian society (Marfleet, 2007, p672). The spectacle of detention centres does not only lie within public perception but also within the architecture of the facility (Grinceri, 2016, p170 171). The barbed wired fence of detention centres is an example. It allows the spectators (citizens) to witness the enclosure of refugees while simultaneously binding refugees within its constraints, punishingly (Pugilese, 2008, p206 207). The visibility provided by the wired fence enables photography and videoing, thus acting as a spectacle. This spectacle is related to the ideals of torture. They are tortured and punished based on exclusions and exception. The refugees held in detention centres form the exception. They are the Other which no one wishes to become and are a danger to society. Those tortured are viewed as deserving because they are seen as a threat. The power to make decisions about who can and cannot enter Australia lies within the (Government) Sovereignty (Georgatos, 2017). The sovereign ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Readings in Modern Philosophy by Ariew and Watkins, it is revealed that while both philosophers tend to agree on opinions like God being infinite, there are many reasons why Descartes and Spinoza disagree on the nature of God and their opinion of substance, for example, Descartes believes that there is more than one type of substance, while Spinoza argues that God is the only substance, ... The Pros And Cons Of Cognitive Therapy Theory The definition of cognitive relates to the activity that goes on within the mind, such as thoughts, perception, and memory (Cognitive, n.d.), and behavior is understood as the manner that a person handles their acts (Behavior, n.d.). Cognitive therapy (CT) focuses on how the processes that happen within the mind and connects them with the physical symptoms that occur, and help to prove the role that thoughts play in behavior. (Kingdon Dimech, 2008) The focus of behavioral therapy is to exclude unwanted behaviors and strengthen and reinforce beneficial behaviors (Cherry, 2017). So, when the two are combined together, the two are looking at how a person s mindset can shape the way that they act, which is what cognitive behavioral therapy is about. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) began in the 1960s through Dr. Aaron T. Beck, and is now the most common studied form of psychotherapy (Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). This form of therapy has also been proven that when handling any disorder that can experience an episode that through this therapy it can help prevent another episode from reoccurring (Hoffman, Asnaani, Vonk, Sawyer, Fang, 2012). • 28. Tommy John Research Paper Tommy John Surgery Tommy John surgery, or more well known as ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, is a surgery in which a ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with a ligament from elsewhere in the body. This replacement ligament is usually taken from the forearm, hamstring, or foot of the patient. This ligament is needed for everyday things such as twisting a doorknob. This injury is usually seen in professional baseball pitchers because of the daily repetitive throwing and because of violent motions from throwing a baseball. RA Dickey was born without a UCL and pitches in the majors. Doctors still do not know how he can do this because you should not be able to do anything this way. A torn elbow ligament was the most common cause of The Dead Arm Injury era, the 20th century. This was uncommon before this time. Long before then, because of the lack of research on the injury, this gave pitcher s a 1 in 100 chance of returning and being able to pitch. Until in 1974 Dr. Frank Jobe developed a procedure for pitcher Tommy John (who the surgery was named after). With vivid research of the ligaments inside the medial elbow he developed a way to make the elbow back to normal strength or in some cases much more stronger. This surgery consisted of the new tendon being implanted and woven in a figure eight pattern through holes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The value proposition to the plumbers is the relative ease of installation that reduces the time by up to 1.5 days over a standard shower installation. The Quartz design allows for less repeat trips to fix problems at their own expense. Further, they can pass along the installation jobs to their apprentices. This frees them up to make more money on larger jobs and also ameliorates the shortage of plumbers in the UK. For the consumers the Quartz offers a superior product to that of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Why is the Quartz not selling? The Quartz sales are suffering for many reasons primarily due to positioning errors on the part of the Aqualisa management. The market entry strategy is ill defined and lacks a clear direction. They have failed to hone in on a target niche as well as to develop an effective product induction strategy. This is further exacerbated by the lack of buy in on the part of their most important allies in the sales processes the plumbers. Furthermore, the enduring perception that electric showers are inherently faulty and inferior products has continued to plague the shower industry en masse. The faulty electronics have historically proven more costly to plumbers who must cough up their own money to cover repair costs. It s also clear Aqualisa hasn t done a good job in managing its product lifecyles to proactively to stay ahead of its competitors. They continue to gain on the Aqualisa market share and are only 2 years behind Aqualisa and closing fast. On the sales and marketing end, teams are focusing about 90% of their attention on existing customers and not targeting new ones. • 31. Strong Proactive Information Security Measures Strong proactive information security measures in an organization could mean the difference between a data breach and normal business. As it stands, attackers are getting more persistent, better at finding out confidential information, and constantly finding new ways to gain access to internal networks. In order to meet the rising threat, organizations must be able to defend themselves properly. While standard perimeter defense measures can accept and deny connections, they lack a strong deterrent to ensure there will be no future attacks. This report focuses on an intrusion technology that will gather information and use it to recraft a similar attack back to the attacker in hopes that a much stronger message will be sent. 1. Introduction With cyber attacks on organizations becoming more frequent, and with the need to keep organizations secure, counter measures must be taken. While firewalls can help to prevent attacks, simply dropping packets and declining services is becoming an inefficient message to send to attackers. Taking existing perimeter defense techniques, like firewalls, and amplifying them to create a new style of device that will respond to attacks is the next step in firewall technology. With these Offensive Perimeter Devices (OPDs), organizations can fight back. Imagine being able to replicate the attack that is in progress and use it against the attackers. • 34. Realism And Realist Approaches To International Relations On the other hand, they also share similar qualities and characteristics. Both theories realize how our world is more than capable of being a dangerous place and we should not assume we are safe at all times. Military power is recognized as being important and pragmatic, and it is understood this power can easily be abused, as much as it can be functional. Another common realization between idealist and realist approaches is because there is no absolute government having power over all countries, countries can essentially do whatever they want to each other, which includes inflicting terror, because there really isn t anything stopping them. While it is true the two approaches to international relations share some common beliefs, these beliefs are greatly outweighed by their differences. Their fundamental beliefs about how the world should function are in opposition, and they place varying levels of importance on power. Yes, military power is seen as crucial for both but realists see the military as being the sole, relevant type of power, while idealists see the opposite. They do not think military power is the most important type, and it even takes a backseat to moral and economic powers. Another major difference is their view on total world government. On one hand, idealism seeks to create a united world government, which would help create peace around the globe. On the other hand, realism believes this would not be successful as it is impossible to coerce all countries to cooperate and participate in this. Realists realize countries will be primarily looking out for themselves, and unless it greatly benefitted them, would probably not do something just to help out other countries. The term anarchy is often associated with realism along with the concept of no international government. When people hear the term, anarchy, a very negative and violent image most likely comes to mind, but that is not what the realist approach represents. Realists argue the absence of a common government simply pushes countries to be independent and to help themselves, it does not fuel conflict or terror. Another difference between the two is who they think the states are concerned about, and what they want. Idealists ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The shape of their tribute was very unique with the long slim design that grows larger at the end with the soccer ball. The form was a part of it as well because the artwork was 3d. The volume was portrayed in a few places like were the gold color meets the dark blue bat or the white hand print is on the black grip. There were several lines in their artwork especially on the soccer ball. To me the color of the artwork stood out including hues of gold, blue, black, white, and purple. The intensity of the gold color stood out to me. I noticed value in the colors were the black was on the dark blue. The project takes up all positive space due to the fact that it has no background but it would be neat to add a large white background to it. The final element of art that was put into this artwork was texture which we can see on the smooth area of the ball and the metal bat. The poet relishes the pleasure that the animals are having as they crouch in their lairs, becoming a part of the nature. • 37. A Case For A Partnership Agreement 10. Kathleen and Jim are business partners at a consulting firm. Upon Jim s sudden death, his widow claims that she is entitled to a share of the firm s assets or should be able to take his Jims place as Kathleen s partner. Is she entitled to her claims? Why or why not? The outcome of this case depends on whether or not a partnership agreement was formed prior to the partner s death. If the partnership agreement wasn t formed, general partnership State statues will take default (Clarkson, 2015, p. 721). However, a partnership agreement will always override state laws. If the provisions allow the partnership to continue after a partner s death, the wife will be entitled to her husband s shares and if the provisions don t state otherwise she will also be able to take over his place in the firm (Wright, 2016). If a partnership agreement does not exist, most states will require a partnership to dissolve after a partner s death. The deceased partner s shares will be used to pay off any debts or obligations and the remainder funds will be distributed to the surviving partners (Wright, 2016). If the deceased partner includes his wife in his will, then a portion of the funds will be distributed to his wife after the dissolution. If his will is in probate, the funds will be distributed to his estate (Wright, 2016).
