Thesis Statement For The Attorney-Client Privilege
A. Historical Basis
The attorney client privilege is the oldest of the evidentiary privileges with a history that can be
traced to Roman and canon law. Official references to the rule first appear in English decisions as
early as the late Sixteenth Century. In accordance with the justification for professional privileges
in general, the attorney client privilege was thought to be essential to the establishment and
preservation of a relationship based on trust between attorney and client. This justification, however,
fell out of favor by the last quarter of the 18th century. The need to ascertain the truth for the ends of
justice was more urgent than the pledge of secrecy. Subsequently, a new justification was found to
sustain this pledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first of these characterizes the privilege as a tool of the powerful, a means of allowing the
wealthy to maintain a veil of secrecy around their activities so as to avoid loosening their
stranglehold on power and resources. The second describes the privilege as a way of enhancing the
image of the legal system. According to this view, by safeguarding certain communications between
clients and attorneys, the privilege prevents society from viewing courts as despotic juggernauts,
and prevents the emergence of information after the fact that might undermine the credibility of the
factfinding process.
The last few decades have witnessed extensive debate over the proper scope of the privilege.
Much of this debate is really a debate over the appropriate reasons to have such a privilege at all,
since the differing rationales suggest different formulations of the rule. Courts and commentators
do agree that the privilege should be defined in such a way as to shield no more information than
necessary from the eye of the factfinder. After all, the device inevitably excludes potentially relevant
information from the consideration of the finder of fact, and thus has the potential to impair the
functioning of

Sexuality Is A Very Prominent Theme Throughout Rubyfruit...
Sexuality is a very prominent theme throughout Rubyfruit Jungle. Molly faces the assumption
from the world around her that she is heterosexual because she does not seem to fit into the
stereotypical clichГ©s of a Lesbian. As a child, after she, Ted, and Leroy found out Jenna was
dying, Molly wanted to stay in Leroy s room to comfort him, but people said it wasn t right...
(Brown). After Jenna died, Leroy cried and yelled about how unfair it was. Carrie comforted
him the best she could, but still did not let Molly stay with him (Brown). Molly witnesses Carl
comforting Ep, and narrates that she, ...thought the only things [men] were allowed to do was
shake hands or fight. But...maybe it wasn t against the rules. Since I wasn t sure, I thought I
d...never tell. I was glad they could touch each other. Maybe all men did that after everyone went
to bed so no one would know the toughness was for show. Or maybe...only...when someone died.
(Brown). As a punishment for Molly s unladylike behavior, Carrie tells Molly about her plan to
keep her inside during the summer to train her as a lady, and Leroy tried to stay as well. He
argued with Carrie, however he obeyed, out of fear, when Carrie told him, You re a boy and you
go out and play like boys are supposed to do. It s not right for you to learn those things (Brown).
He backed down when, ...she started telling him what would happen to him if he picked up women

The Issue Of Abortion On The United States Essay
The topic I have selected to write about in this research paper is the issue of Abortion, My thesis
in this paper is to analyze the history of abortion in the United States prior to the Roe vs. Wade
decision and afterwards, and to demonstrate the ways in which our two major political parties
views on this issue have shifted over time along with the public s view on the issue. Abortion
has been practiced for most of human history. The ancient Greeks and Romans practiced it,
although not all ancient thinkers had the same views on abortion. Ancient Greek father of
medicine (Britannica) Hippocrates was against the procedure; in the Hippocratic Oath doctors
had to swear, To not give a woman an abortive remedy. (University of Virginia) Ancient Greek
thinker Aristotle believed that fetuses gained a soul 40 days after conception for male fetuses,
and 90 days after conception for female fetuses, a process of which he termed ensoulment (BBC)
The Bible is inexplicably quiet on the issue.(BBC) Jesus said nothing about the practice of
abortion neither did the apostles; It is through early Christian writings such as The Didache (Ante
Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7.) that abortion was inexplicably condemned by the fledgling Christian
Church and in turn all of Christendom. Between the 5th and 16 century views on abortion changed
as abortion came to gradually become acceptable as long as it was performed before The
Quickening which was a term for when the mother first felt the child

To understand the Klan, then, it is necessary to understand the character and present mind of the
mass of old stock Americans. The mass, it must be remembered, as distinguished from the
intellectually mongrelized Liberals. These are, in the first place, a blend of various people of
the so called Nordic race, the race which, with all its faults, has given the world almost the whole
of modern civilization. The Klan does not try to represent any people but these. Document E

Pros and Cons of High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Abstract:
High fructose corn syrup is a commonly used artificial sweetener in foods. High fructose corn
syrup is a hydrolyzed version of ordinary corn syrup, which is produced via a steeping process. It is
so widely used because it is both economically favorable and it helps to preserve food for extended
periods of time. However, the drawbacks of high fructose corn syrup include issues like potential
obesity, diabetes, loss of liver function, malnutrition, and cancer. The fact that the producers of high
fructose corn syrup can deceive people that HFCS is harmless makes matters worse.
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is an artificial sweetener commonly used in the United States. As
its name implies, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As corn will naturally ferment, it is bathed in water containing sulfur dioxide. The water is kept at
an elevated temperature at about 120 Fahrenheit for the 40 hour duration of the steeping process.
George Inglett indicates that during that time, the corn absorbs water, swelling to its maximum
size, and starches are loosened from the protein matrix (79). Soluble components in the corn are
also removed during steeping. The steepwater is often recovered, allowed to ferment, and used to
make antibiotics in its fermented form. The second major step is milling. After the steepwater is
drained, the kernels are sent to degerminating mills. Here, the kernels are torn apart and the oil
containing germ is freed in centrifuges. The oil containing germs are ground to separate the starch
and gluten from the coarser particles. These two elements are separated with centrifuges, and the
extraction of water completes the process of recovery. Finally, the starch and gluten are refined to
make pure corn syrup. By extracting different portions of the corn at different times, other products
can be produced from basic corn like corn oil, feeds, starches, antibiotics, and other sweeteners.
Producing corn syrup is the simple part of making high fructose corn syrup. It took the sugar
industry many years to figure out how to increase the fructose content and thus the sweetness of
corn syrup. Ordinary

Civil War Legality
The United States legal system experienced immense change caused by the Civil War. The main
causes of the war included the obvious issue of slavery, but also that off states rights and brought
to question exactly how much power the federal government had. Despite the obvious moral
reasons for removing slavery, the process to do so faced issues in regards to legality. The legality
of slavery was discussed throughout various issues including property, state, and of course human
rights. The institution of slavery violated the due process rights to life and liberty of the enslaved,
however the removal of the institution of slavery violated the due process rights pertaining to the
property of the slave owners. The issue regarding the strength of... Show more content on

This also relates to the idea of southern states rejecting progression and modernization and seeking
to keep a traditional society. An example of states exercising their rights is The South Carolina
Ordinance of Nullification, enacted in 1832, which abolished tariffs on slavery put in place by the
federal government. It was argued that the federal government was acting unconstitutionally despite
significantly lowering the tariffs, and that states could nullify federal law (Hall, 246). This then led
to the ordinance of nullification (Hall,

The Policy Language Of Clipper Mill Fed
Accordingly, since Clendenin Bros., the policy language has been broadened seemingly in
response to Clendenin Bros. and similar cases to include not only environmental pollution, but
also, substances that are harmful or toxic to persons [or] property. The significance of this
distinction was recognized in Clipper Mill Fed., LLC v. Cincinnati Ins. Co, 2010 U.S. Dist. LEXIS
112172 (D.Md. 2010), where a landlord/insured alleged that damages caused by [t]oxic and
dangerous airborne pollutants attributable to a malfunctioning HVAC unit gave rise to a claim
against the insured by a tenant. Id. at 3. In that case, although the pollutionat issue was not
environmental, the District of Maryland observed that:
The policy in the present case contains an important distinction from that involved in Clendenin
Bros. The CGL Policy tracks the definition of Pollutant contained in the policy at issue in Clendenin
Bros., but adds, Pollutants include but are not limited to substances which are generally recognized
in industry or government to be harmful or toxic to persons, property or the environment. . . .
Compare Clendenin Bros., 889 A.2d at 390, with CGL Policy, Form GA 1011204 В§ V(18)
(emphasis added). The addition of this sentence expanded the definition of Pollutant beyond
environmental pollutants. The CGL Policy s use of the phrase harmful or toxic to persons, property

Economic Development Of Hong Kong
How can we situate colonialism within the broader globalization processes of industrialization and
deindustrialization in Hong Kong? Globalization is manifesting itself as a result of colonial
processes. The effects of Hong Kong s colonial history are still present as it is not its own
independent city state and currently has semi autonomous rule under mainland China. After giving a
brief history on colonial Hong Kong, I will be focusing on the Sino British Agreement of 1984 and
its subsequent effects on the city s decolonization process, including democratization, economic
development, and decolonization of the education system as compared to the predicted changes
under the agreement. Hong Kong (HK) began as a British colony in 1842 as a spoil of victory
from the Opium War (Chan Postiglione, p. 3). Its markets and ports were driven by regional trade
and their strategic location. Hong Kong has since then become a cosmopolitan city state of global
significance and serves as the gateway to trade with mainland China. Further, HK acts as a catalyst
for the economic development of southern China, where HK industries employ manufacturing
labour force workers in the neighboring Guangdong province. Hong Kong is therefore dependent
on China s own economic growth and modernization, however, its successful free trade and market
society are in contrast to its lack of a fully democratic form of government under British rule (Chan,
Postiglione, p. 3). Even after the Sino British

The American Of The United States Army
As for the US Army, they had been given orders by which they had to abide which lacked
defined rules of engagement. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their
superiors did not necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As
far as they were concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it.
This was a huge change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their
journey exploring the Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were
amicable and cooperative. Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands
the Indians once occupied, they voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This
was accomplished fluidly because the natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to
be owned by any person or group; land was theirs to do with what they would, which was to
survive and live rivers for water, animals for food, and other natural resources to create their
homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was a demonstration of violence of
action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the natives would have easily sat
down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land available to them, but the
settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of doing what needed to be
done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to going in to battle

Essay about The Human Genome Project
Genetic engineering is, at best, a debatable branch of science. For some, it is the wave of the future:
a method for perfecting the human genome, discarding flaws from infants before they are born and
ensuring they live longer, healthier lives. For others, it is an abomination: a method of
circumventing what nature gave you, and wholly unnatural. Which one is right? (Bird). Naturally,
geneticsis the scientific study of inherited variations in the DNA strand. This topic sparked curiosity
among numerous scientific individuals that they begun a research project on it titled the Human
GenomeProject. To illustrate, the Human Genome Project worked out the sequence of the three

Human genetics should be a considerable option in the future to benefit our world.
For example, gene therapy can be used to cure genetic diseases like leukemia. For instance, a
young man from Douglas, Arizona, a town boarding Mexico, underwent chemotherapy, but if he
had gone through gene therapy instead of the harmful chemotherapy radiation that could have
been performed many toils would have been prevented for the young man and his family. Gene
therapy is an experimental way of using inheritable factors to treat or prevent diseases it is also
an experimental technique that is used to substitute a gene that works right for a non working
gene. In fact, in human genetics, gene therapy is the use of genetic material as medicine
involving the transfer of working or therapeutic copy of a gene into specific cells of an
individual to repair a copy of a faulty gene. In the future, this technique may be used to allow
doctors to treat any disorder instead of using drugs or surgery by inserting a gene into a patient s
cells. Several researchers are testing numerous approaches to gene therapy, including taking out or
deactivating a mutated gene that has improper functioning, and introducing a new genetic factor
into the body that will help fight a disease. In fact, several areas of criteria must be met for the
procedure to work.
After all, many believers claim it is unethical to use this technology, genetic engineering, because

IRS Summary
All charities with donations of $25000 or more must file financial reports annually with the U.S.
Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
These IRS 990 reports are available to the public, however, many donors do not examine them: a
survey and report by Hope Consulting find few donors do any research prior to giving (Money for
Good, May 2010).
In addition, the 990 reports lack guidance for comparing values from year to year or between
charities.
Recent IRS reports indicate a continued need to link donors with pertinent, credible, and easy to
understand information about charities.%

Globalization Has Brought Changes Into The Business World
Globalization has brought changes into the business world. Organizations are taking advantage of
the concept to gain competitive advantages. Companies venture into global markets to serve
global customers (Twarowska KД…kol, 2013). Implementation of a global strategy is an
important aspect that determines the success of a business in a new market. However, most
organization experience challenges implementing global strategies (Kyalo, Katuse, Kiriri, 2016).
Furthermore, implementing a global strategy has its benefits such as replication and scale cost
benefits, providing services to global customers, exploiting national resources, competing
strategically and learning benefits (Grant Jordan, 2015). As such, this paper seeks to offer a
development plan for the ABC Company. This paper will also offer a realistic strategy by
considering various conditions for entering into the global market. Company Review The ABC
Company is an electronics company in the Middle East. It seeks expand its market into the
international market, especially in the Asian region. Currently, the company focuses on the local
market. The company has been relying on its local markets increasing its risks. The management
has decided to venture into the global market to increase its profits. As such, ABC s global
strategy will focus on the production of standardized products and services (Diaconu, 2012).
According to Diaconu (2012), such products and services serve the needs of consumers across the

Society Reflection
After this week s reading and videos I learned many new intriguing perspectives about society.
Also, the video taught me a very important lesson about discrimination. I thought the lesson the
teacher taught was unique and got her point across extremely well. She really put people in the
shoes of the less fortunate that are being discriminated. The readings on the first day I found very
interesting because people are the only ones that affect the rapid changes of society. The weeks
readings and videos relate to each other because the way society changes now is how discrimination
on skin colors started and affected millions of lives that could of even took lives away. The first
day readings show that every decision someone makes has affected the changes in society. For
example the hippie movement a group of people started wearing tie dye colors and listening to
their type of music. Over time it caught on and their society significantly changed. The video has
some points about this too. The president s decision to kick the indians out of their taught other
americans that they re worthless and they have the power to discriminate against them with no
punishment. Day 2 readings said that we do things or pay people money even if they don t work
all the time. They also pay regular visits to a holy mouth man in order to protect their teeth despite
the pain involved in every visit, and that their teeth continue to decay anyway. ( Miner Body Ritual

The Weakness Of Society In Aristophanes s Play The Frogs
In Aristophanes play the Frogs he exercises some privileges such as criticizing the politicians and
playing fun with the gods to make the situation seem more light and fun. He mostly sticks to the
main problem that their society is losing the Peloponnesian war and that if they don t return to the
old ways of thinking and doing things then the kingdom will fall. Through his play he points out
several flaws in their society and what they can do to fix them but refraining from offending anyone
by saying it through the humorous situations and tones of the play. Throughout the play
Aristophanesamuses and informs his audience through the songs of the chorus and the actions
and words of his characters. The chorus allows for a humorous and lovely way to sum up what
others may have missed. This informs the crowd about what has just transpired while also
providing the crowd advice and allowing them to send prayers to the gods. Such as on page 181
when the chorus leader says We ll put on serious looks and have our say. And first for those
misguided souls I plead. Who in the past to Phrynichus paid heed, It s history now; their folly
they regret. The time has come to forgive and forget. and when the chorus leader says This city
treats her soundest men today: By a coincidence more sad than funny, It is very much like the
way we treat our money. The noble silver drachma, which of old, We were so proud of, and the
one of gold, Coins that rang true (clean stamped and worth their weight) Throughout the world
have ceased to circulate. Instead the purses of Athenian shoppers. Are full of phony silver plated
coppers . This is advice given about how Athens treats its people it gets them thinking about this
subject long after the play has ended. The chorus is how Aristophanes creates a light way to tell his
listeners his ideas about their own society and what they should do about their situation. He also
entertains his audience with the physical acts of the play such as when the god Dionysusand his
slave are being tested by being spanked to see which of them is actually a god. Through this act
Aristophanes is not trying to make fun of Dionysus even though he is shown as cowardly, idiotic
and very silly all dressed

interactions that children encounter in their environment play a significant role in childhood

Using the principles of development learned in this course the authoritarian parent and the
uninvolved parent could both make significant changes in order to promote better individual
development and growth. A child may develop an aggressive behavior with an authoritarian parent
and their externalizing and internalizing problems stem from this type of parenting style. (Braza, P.
2015) The authoritarian parent expects their child to be absolutely obedient and this often times
leads to the child having a higher than normal likely of getting in trouble. These kinds of parents
keep control of their children s behaviors as much as possible and create firm rules so the child
knows the consequences of breaking the rules. Authoritarian parents develop similar patterns of
parenting within the other sources of child bearing. Authoritarian parents often times score higher
due to children searching for independence in the developmental process which increases
conflicts. (Luyckx, K. 2011) Often time s children from these authoritarian families can be less
resourceful and have a lower self esteem. Authoritarian parents create a solid behavior process for
their children but often create the idea that a child must lie to do what he or she wants to do. A
parent in this aspect can be so focused on their child always following the rules that once a child

As this was a fast moving business and the topic of freezing eggs wasn t new to competitors,

The Cove Psihoyos
The Cove, directed by Louie Psihoyos, is an award winning documentary that spotlights how the
Japanese hunt and kill dolphins by the tens of thousands and how a group of people try to stop
and expose this to the world. The chapter about the International Whaling Commission (IWC)
brings forward a few key points that need to be discussed. The IWC is a group of nations that
come together and make decisions based on how they can preserve cetaceans. The smaller
cetaceans, like dolphins, are not protected under the bigger umbrella. In order to bypass the rules
of the IWC, a loophole is used; a nation can claim that they are killing and collecting whales for
research and the IWC will not stop them. The Japanese are trying to legalize whalingworldwide....

Why are dolphins looked differently than whales? Could it be that when the International Whaling
Commission was formed; it was formed by nations that would like to keep whaling alive? This
could be the reason why the smaller Cetaceans are not protected under the ruling of the IWC. In
every meeting that the IWC have, the Japanese keep trying to make whaling legal. At the cove,
they don t allow pictures to be taken. That is because they are hiding something illegal. Even
when the IWC starts to act on this, it will take them a very long time because there are a lot of
governments meeting at once. They cannot come to terms on a problem and even more so when
they are focusing on the wrong group of whales that are being

How The Water Feels To The Fishes Analysis
Ignorance is bliss as said by many people. As defined in the dictionary it is, lack of knowledge or
information (google). It could be a blessing or a curse. In this case, humans being ignorant is a
curse. Our thoughts have been so conditioned that our curiosity has been stolen from us. We no
longer have her own unique thoughts, we just go with what we are told. In How The Water Feels
To The Fishes by Dave Eggers, he writes how ignorant humans can be to everyday things like, air.
People always ask the fishes, what does the water feel like to you? and the fishes are always
happy to oblige (23).The fish have more wisdom compared to the humans. They are more
attendant and aware of their surroundings. They know how ignorant the humans can be and
always try to help them out. They explain to the humans how water can feel like the fur of a
chinchilla (23). Or like the tongue of a cat (23). It can feel many different ways depending on the
temperature or time of the day. When it s cold out, the water is like cracked glass. Or honey

Pros And Cons Of Hearsay Testimony
When a crime is committed, one of the most important evidences for convincing jurors to make the
decision is witness evidence. Witnesses in crimes have also been a crucial part on determining the
final verdict. However, child witness testimony should not be allowed due to the harm that it
inflicts on children. The article between a rock and a hard place: Why hearsay testimonymay be a
necessary evil in child sexual abuse cases by Watters, T., Brineman, J., Wright, S. compares the

Secretive Beach Birds
Article Summery This article focuses on a group of secretive wetland birds known as secretive
marsh birds. These birds are extremely difficult to observe due to their quiet nature, natural
camouflage and shy behavior. However, although these birds are looked over most of the time they
still play a role in the wetlandecosystem especially within Missouri. These birds are migratory in
nature and tend to move through Missouri through during the fall and spring, visiting various
Missouri wetlands as they pass through. It has been found that the presence of these illusive birds
can serve as an indicator of the health of a wetland s ecosystem with these birds preferring to stop
in wetlands that feature shallow water and denser vegetation. Therefore,... Show more content on

The secretive marsh birds that the article refers to are almost impossible to find without high tech
portable tools and even then that only works during the mating season of these birds were they are
the most vocal. However, even those these birds are typically neither heard nor seen by humans
they interact with their environment acting as the consumers of the dense vegetation that is
plentiful in the wetland environment. They also act as the prey for their predators becoming a
food source for these animals that without these birds would have a more limited source of food
during the fall and spring seasons. Due to the fact that these birds do have an impact on the
wetlands of Missouri it is important that we promote conservation efforts within these ecosystems
in order to ensure that all of the species that live in and utilize the wetland have the resources they
need to survive in the future. These conservation efforts can help promote the health of the
ecosystem as a whole and ensure that the environment continues to possess the dense vegetation it
needs in order to support the secretive wetland birds. This may help prevent these birds from being
unable to find a satisfactory habitat in Missouri to support their current migratory patterns allowing
them to remain a part of Missouri s Wetland

Team Process Of A Team
Team Process: When becoming a part of a team, at the beginning of this semester, I never
imagined how much teamwork and communication was needed to get even an entry level
project done in a team. One of the best traits of my team was our excellent use of coordination.
Coordination helped us stay organized, as well as made each team member more effective. We
never missed a team meeting, and always completed our assigned work on time. The Gantt chart
we created towards the beginning of our project, helped each member stay organized, so no one
member took on a larger share of work than assigned to. As well as staying organized, we worked
well as a team, and I believe we all respected each others abilities to complete our own tasks. The
reason we were able to function so well, was because only the facilitator had the desire to lead.
There were no power struggle and confrontations. There were never conflicting ideas in the team,
we all accepted what we had to do and let one person take charge. However, that doesn t mean,
we didn t put in a lot work. We worked hard to complete our project; it only shows that we were
able to work well, when given the task of turning design ideas into reality. As an engineer, you
will not have total freedom of concept, design and build. You might have one task, or many, but
there could be many people working on a project and you will have to build according to someone
else s specifications and design. To engage all team members, we made sure

Thucydides And Thucydides History And Warfare
Herodotus and Thucydides were historians who dramatically influenced the way we look at Greek
history and warfare. The two historians approach their stories in completely different ways, which
ultimately leads to different explanations of the origins of conflict. Herodotus focuses on recalling
the origins of the Ionian Revolt, the rise of the Persian Empire, and the Persian Wars with Greece,
while Thucydides writes about the Peloponnesian War. M.I. Finely suggests, in the introduction of
Thucydides book that Thucydides is complementing Herodotus by beginning where Herodotus left
off (Finley, History of the Peloponnesian War p.16). Although these two historians approach the
start of conflicts in different ways, it seems that Thucydides is not suggesting that Herodotus
explanations are wrong. While evaluating conflicts of warfare, Herodotus provides a less bias
perspective than Thucydides, but Thucydides is able to understand the underlying causes of wars
better due to the fact that he is writing about warfare that he was alive for. Thucydides conveniently
opens up his book by explaining his methodology. The Athenian tells the readers that his motivation
for writing the book was ignited by a sense that the war fought between Athens and Spartawould be
important (Thuc. 1.1). The reader should be aware of the biases that Thucydides includes in his
writing, due to the fact that he is an Athenian writing about an Athenian war. Thucydides portrays

The Similarities Between First And Second-Wave Feminism
Other than the obvious time differences between first and second wave feminism, the real contrasts
are found in what it was the women, and men in some cases, were fighting for. First Wave
feminists mainly fought for suffrage, while their Second Wave sisters fought for a wider range of
women s rights. First wave feminismwas brought on by the newly educated female population.
Women s experiences under colonization taught them to see themselves as citizens of oppressed
nations, and many entered into Nationalist politics on behalf of their beleaguered people. (123)
Women activists took an approach of social housekeepers; it was their duty as nurtures of the nation
to be involved in education, social work, public health, poverty, and so on. (126) First Wave
feminists were concerned with gaining access to vote in elections and on other important matters,
they were concerned with gaining access to higher education; they were concerned with
temperance, since they were not well protected under the law from, drunk, abusive husbands....

Women now were educated, voting, and even aiding their states during war times. In the U.S. many
activists were fighting for similar issues addressed by the predecessors, however they were able to
take things further, since there was a precedent. Instead of just gaining access to higher education,
Second Wavers were pushing for Women s Studies classes and departments, and for prominent
historical women to be included in academia. Women in the U.S. were also beginning the enduring
battle of saving the environment. Second Wave feminists brought internal attention to the problems
caused by violence against women and by poor environmental practices.

The Gilded Age And The Age Of Information
The term the Gilded Age was coined by Mark Twain. By this, he meant that the period was
glittering on the surface but corrupt underneath. With its period of extreme economic growth, there
was tremendous wealth, but only for the wealthy. The Second Gilded Age, which some say was
brought on as the Information Age, brings a level of inequality to America that has never been seen
before. Experts believe that this shift could kill the American dream. The Gilded Age and the Age
of Information are similar in terms of the vast economic inequality prevalent, the issues arising with
immigration (both reform and influx), and the disparity between the political parties.
Vast economic inequality prevalent
The United States income inequality has risen drastically since the 1970 s and has not been this
high since 1928. Economic inequality is the unequal differences in how assets, wealth, and income
are dispersed among the people and different populations throughout the United States. It is often
described as the gap between the rich and the poor.
Wealthy industrialists and financiers such as John D. Rockefeller, founder of the Standard Oil
Company; Andrew Carnegie, the self made steel tycoon and philanthropist; Cornelius Vanderbilt,
known for developing the inland water trade and rapidly growing railroad industry after building
the New York Central Railroad; and Jay Gould, a developer of the railroads, were labeled as robber
barons, meaning an American capitalist who became

TITLE OF PAPER
For many years the condition of the United States health care system has been a hot topic for

unfortunately that may not be the truth. In 2000 The World Health Organization (WHO) released a

United States was ranked at 37 out of the 191. With out of control costs, highly inequitable

On March 23, 2010 congress approved and President Obama signed The Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) into law. The PPACA is more commonly known as just the
Affordable Care Act (ACA) or negatively as Obamacare. In order for the ACA to be passed, the
President had to appease the different political parties. As a result, the ACA is not entirely an
original idea. Some of the main provisions already had the support of various political parties,
because they had been introduced by past presidents and political parties in their health reform
plans over the past few decades. Some examples include: both Nixon and Carter had employer

ideas to the insurance marketplace, among a few others. The ACA is similar to universal health care;
the objective is to ensure that the US citizens have access to affordable quality healthcare, instead
of a free market for all like in other countries it is still for profit. The Affordable Care Act increases
access to care, makes health insurance more affordable, strengthens Medicare and ensures that

How Did Elizabeth Blackwell Affect Society
Elizabeth Blackwell Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, the first female physician in America, struggled
with sexual prejudice to earn her place in history. She was born in Bristol, England on February
3, 1821 to a liberal and wealthy family. She was the third daughter in a family of nine children.
Her father, Samuel Blackwell, believed in the value of education and knowledge and hired a
governess for the girls, even though many girls were not educated in those days. In 1832, the family
sugar cane plantation went bankrupt, forcing the family to move to America.

That change came as a suggestion from the lips of a woman dying of cancer. Mary Donaldson, a

fortunate enough to meet with a nurse who let me in the OR, who happened to be the

thing the nurse did was to explain to me that we had to look for basic information such as
allergies, lab results, present history and physical for the patient. If there is no previous history
within the last month or weeks, then we need to remind the doctor to write a new one. Once we
met with the patients, we started by taking vital signs, asking their identity, and ask them to explain
why they are there and what procedure they are there for. I remember my nurse asking the patients
about whether or not they are in the menopausal stages or if there is a chance of them being

is important for Network Engineers to not let go of the set infrastructure but also try to

DMVPN is one of the dynamic and scalable technologies to achieve scalability and also be

MPLS and Frame Relay have ruled the Wide Area Network over the years in providing private
communication. It was needed for an intermediate solution which can provide security as well

while maintaining the same infrastructure similar to what MPLS does. DMVPN is a Hub and

Infant s Cognitive Development
An amazing experience to witness is the development and growth of a child. As they grow and
learn, you see them explore the world and all the things we have become accustomed too. While all
children grow differently, they all experience and go through the same stages; physical, cognitive,
and socio emotional development.
One of the first noticeable factors associated with the growth of an infant is how they develop
physically. Physical development involves the physical changes that take place with an infant; this
involves their facial features, which begin to take definition, and they begin to grow in length, and
weight. Naturally, infants are born with reflexes or natural body responses such as, sucking,
blinking, awareness, and grasping. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Love, support, and care are essential to a child brain to develop efficiently, a parent or giver must
provide constant interaction and attention. Cognitive development involves the way infants think,
perceive things, solve problems, and begin to understand the world around them. Imitation is a
perfect combination of both cognitive and socio emotional development; this is a way infants learn.
As caregivers interact with their infant and begin to express emotions, the infant will copy what
they see their caregiver do. Interaction like this plays a role in your infant s brain development. The
sensorimotor stage incorporates senses (sight, hearing, tasting, and feeling) with physical actions.
An infant becomes interested in bright colors, or movement, and begins to respond to an action
such as a smiling caregiver. This concept is similar to joint attention, when a caregiver points to an
object, and the infant becomes aware of it. While, these concepts are based on cognitive
development, socio emotional development also plays an important role. Object permanence is a
mixture of both cognitive and physical development. We know object permanence to be when an
infant understands that an object exists even though the object is not in sight. This concept is in
close relation with physical development, because object permanence involves the senses, which
play a large role in physical

Malware And Its Effects On Our Computer
Have you ever been surfing the web when all of a sudden a vibrant window pops up
congratulating you for being the nth visitor and the lucky recipient of some amazing prize which
you ll receive just as soon as you enter your email address or download a file? Almost everyone
encounters a pop up like this every now and then. Some of us, including myself, have even
followed the instructions only to learn that we ve helped a malwareprogram run on our computer.
Malware, also known as malicious software, has a deep history behind it. By definition, malware
is a code or a software that is designed to damage, disrupt, steal, or inflict malice in some form or
another on computer data, personal files, hosts, or networks. It poses a major threat to home and
business computers worldwide and there aren t many means to stop it.
Malware comes in a variety of forms, and from a variety of sources. Over the last few decades
malware has grown more sophisticated and more dangerous. The main types of malware include
computer viruses, worms, trojans, and bots. Malware can be separated further into sub categories
such as backdoor trojans, remote access trojans, information stealers, and ransomware. The different
forms of malware use different techniques to damage or infect the targeted computer. However, all
malware has one thing in common, self replication. Before we can learn about this self replication
that is key to all malware today, we must learn about the evolution of malware. The evolution

HRM itself can be subdivided into three domains: Micro HRM, Strategic HRM, and International
HRM (Boxall et al., 2007b). Micro HRM is concerned with practices within the sub‐functions of
HRM, drawing on long traditions of studies on such aspects as selection, appraisal, and pay.
Strategic HRM and International HRM are both more systemic or macro in their outlook. Strategic
HRM is concerned with how HR practices cluster into HR systems, and with the relationships
between HR strategy and the organization s internal and external contexts and its performance
outcomes. International HRM focuses on HRM in companies operating across national boundaries
and shows a particular concern with the interplay between

Characteristics Of Modern Christianity
1. A Unique and Important Practice in Modern Christianity
There are many Christian practices, all of the diversified importance to the lives of the believers
of the faith. These variegated practices are what differentiates Christians from people of other
faiths, and gives them autonomy. According to Craig Dykstra, Christian practices are not activities
we do to make something spiritual happen in our lives. Nor are they duties we undertake to be
obedient to God. Rather, they are patterns of communal action that create openings in our lives
where the grace, mercy, and presence of God may be made known to us (Spiritual Practices, n.d., p.
1).
Therefore, Christian practices are the daily engagements that believers of the faith undertake in line
with what is expected of them. This paper will discuss fasting as a practice in modern Christianity
that is unique and important to the faith of believers and will provide a summary describing
fasting, how it developed, and why it is significant in the lives of at least some contemporary
Christians. In addition, this paper will also discuss Evangelicalism as a movement within
Christianity which started within the past 200 years, having distinctive beliefs, and impact on
modern and contemporary Christianity (Christendom).
One practice in modern Christianity that is unique is fasting (Colbert, 2006). Often, fasting is
related to a person lacking or rather, doing without food, however, this is not the case. Through

The Negative Effects Of Parental Abandonment Of Children
Parental abandonment of a child can have long term psychological issues they will suffer from
including obsessive thinking, critical thoughts about the abandonment, and self blame. Child
abandonment is when a parent, guardian, or any person taking care of the child or deserts the child
without any regard to the child s physical health, safety, or welfare. From the ages from an infant to
18 years old, that s when child abandonmenttakes place. It is the rule of nature for every child to
be brought up by two parents. The effect of child abandonment can be felt throughout the child
growth as the child displays different characteristics from those who have had the privilege of
being brought up by two parents. Parents are the source of joy to most children and a source of
pride too. Parental abandonment has been proven to have adverse negative effects on the life of a
child as this research paper will highlight.
One of the effects parental abandonment is the child living with the fear of being abandoned.
Such a child will avoid relationships in the fear that they may not always work as they always feel
in denial. This factor affects their life and as a result will lead to other effects as the child will
always be stressed. The stress leads to depression overall. The effects of depression are poor
performance; this factor of poor performance is displayed in their academic life where in most
cases the child will be continuously recording poor grades even when the best learning

Essay On German Election
The German election this upcoming weekend is an event that needs to be thoroughly looked into.
While the campaign has been quiet thus far, the results are expected to be one of the biggest
turning points in German history. Never has a far right party managed to send delegates into the
German Parliament since the defeat of the Nazis in 1945 and the outcome of this electioncould have
a serious impact on the United States. Germany is the European Unions most populous nation and
is economically strong, so wherever this election leads to, changes are ahead. Both of the current
leading parties agree Germany shouldn t stand in accordance to some of the policies President

Currently, Germany has six main political parties the CDU, SPD, CSU, FDP, Green Party, and
Left Party. The CDU stands for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany. This group retains
mainly conservative beliefs such as having a free market with social equity, progressing
European integration, and being a member of NATO. Angela Merkel is the current leader of this
center right political group. While this group typically receives support from catholic areas in
the western regions of Germany, support has nowadays been coming from other areas with
different or no religious backgrounds. Angela Merkel is a prime example of this as she is the
leader of this group and yet is a protestant from East Germany. This group is the one presently in
control. The next political group is the oldest political party in Germany, known as the SPD, or the
Social Democratic Party of Germany. This is a center left party, led by Martin Shulz, that was
originally part of the Marxist party. The main focus of this group is on the working class citizens
and much of their support comes from large, mainly protestant cities. The SPD believes in a social
democracy hence the name that strives towards a strengthened social market economy, a welfare
state, civil rights, and European integration. It used to be the largest party in the Federal Republic
but it lost voters when extreme welfare cuts were made on behalf of this party. The Christian Social

The Personality Of Antisocial Personality Disorder
Today it is estimated that .6 to 4% of the general population are thought to have antisocial
personality. (Thompson, 2014) Antisocial disorder is a personality disorder in which a person
may have behavioral deficits or tendencies not accepted as normal by society s standard. Antisocial
personality disorder is sometimes also known as sociopathy. Someone who has this disorder may
be called a sociopath. Some behavioral deficits seen in sociopaths include, superficial charm,
pathological lying, lack of remorse, shallow emotions, and need for stimulation. (Horley, 2014)

MacKenzie discusses in her article how psychopaths are generally internally affected and
experience psychological difficulties, whereas sociopaths are not as internally affected, most of
the time they are only affected in their relationship with society (2014). To focus further on
sociopathic disorder, Dr. Paula MacKenzie discusses this history of the disorder. MacKenzie
defines sociopathy as a personality disorder characterized by a lack of social responsibility and
failure to adapt to ethical and social standards of the community (Mosby s Medical, Nursing,
Allied Health Dictionary, 2002, p. 1599). After she defines the many personality disorders she
discusses in the article, she discusses how much of the research of behavioral disorders began in
the 1800 s when mental asylums became popular (2014). The first classification of a disorder
similar to sociopathy was manie sans delire or insanity without delirium. Even though psychopathy
is the disorder that is said to be genetic, there are significant differences in the biological brains of
individuals with sociopathic disorder and those without it. In an article by Blair and Cipolotti, an
individual with sociopathic disorder was studied and assessed, and the findings are discussed.
When the individual was given a CT scan, an enlarged image of the brain was compared to that of
a neuro typical individual. In the visual comparison, there is a clear difference of the

  • 2. Thesis Statement For The Attorney-Client Privilege A. Historical Basis The attorney client privilege is the oldest of the evidentiary privileges with a history that can be traced to Roman and canon law. Official references to the rule first appear in English decisions as early as the late Sixteenth Century. In accordance with the justification for professional privileges in general, the attorney client privilege was thought to be essential to the establishment and preservation of a relationship based on trust between attorney and client. This justification, however, fell out of favor by the last quarter of the 18th century. The need to ascertain the truth for the ends of justice was more urgent than the pledge of secrecy. Subsequently, a new justification was found to sustain this pledge. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first of these characterizes the privilege as a tool of the powerful, a means of allowing the wealthy to maintain a veil of secrecy around their activities so as to avoid loosening their stranglehold on power and resources. The second describes the privilege as a way of enhancing the image of the legal system. According to this view, by safeguarding certain communications between clients and attorneys, the privilege prevents society from viewing courts as despotic juggernauts, and prevents the emergence of information after the fact that might undermine the credibility of the factfinding process. The last few decades have witnessed extensive debate over the proper scope of the privilege. Much of this debate is really a debate over the appropriate reasons to have such a privilege at all, since the differing rationales suggest different formulations of the rule. Courts and commentators do agree that the privilege should be defined in such a way as to shield no more information than necessary from the eye of the factfinder. After all, the device inevitably excludes potentially relevant information from the consideration of the finder of fact, and thus has the potential to impair the functioning of ... • 3. Sexuality Is A Very Prominent Theme Throughout Rubyfruit... Sexuality is a very prominent theme throughout Rubyfruit Jungle. Molly faces the assumption from the world around her that she is heterosexual because she does not seem to fit into the stereotypical clichГ©s of a Lesbian. As a child, after she, Ted, and Leroy found out Jenna was dying, Molly wanted to stay in Leroy s room to comfort him, but people said it wasn t right... (Brown). After Jenna died, Leroy cried and yelled about how unfair it was. Carrie comforted him the best she could, but still did not let Molly stay with him (Brown). Molly witnesses Carl comforting Ep, and narrates that she, ...thought the only things [men] were allowed to do was shake hands or fight. But...maybe it wasn t against the rules. Since I wasn t sure, I thought I d...never tell. I was glad they could touch each other. Maybe all men did that after everyone went to bed so no one would know the toughness was for show. Or maybe...only...when someone died. (Brown). As a punishment for Molly s unladylike behavior, Carrie tells Molly about her plan to keep her inside during the summer to train her as a lady, and Leroy tried to stay as well. He argued with Carrie, however he obeyed, out of fear, when Carrie told him, You re a boy and you go out and play like boys are supposed to do. It s not right for you to learn those things (Brown). He backed down when, ...she started telling him what would happen to him if he picked up women s ways... Everyone would point and laugh. Nobody would play with him...and soon ... • 4. The Issue Of Abortion On The United States Essay The topic I have selected to write about in this research paper is the issue of Abortion, My thesis in this paper is to analyze the history of abortion in the United States prior to the Roe vs. Wade decision and afterwards, and to demonstrate the ways in which our two major political parties views on this issue have shifted over time along with the public s view on the issue. Abortion has been practiced for most of human history. The ancient Greeks and Romans practiced it, although not all ancient thinkers had the same views on abortion. Ancient Greek father of medicine (Britannica) Hippocrates was against the procedure; in the Hippocratic Oath doctors had to swear, To not give a woman an abortive remedy. (University of Virginia) Ancient Greek thinker Aristotle believed that fetuses gained a soul 40 days after conception for male fetuses, and 90 days after conception for female fetuses, a process of which he termed ensoulment (BBC) The Bible is inexplicably quiet on the issue.(BBC) Jesus said nothing about the practice of abortion neither did the apostles; It is through early Christian writings such as The Didache (Ante Nicene Fathers, Vol. 7.) that abortion was inexplicably condemned by the fledgling Christian Church and in turn all of Christendom. Between the 5th and 16 century views on abortion changed as abortion came to gradually become acceptable as long as it was performed before The Quickening which was a term for when the mother first felt the child ... • 6. Pros and Cons of High Fructose Corn Syrup Essay High Fructose Corn Syrup Abstract: High fructose corn syrup is a commonly used artificial sweetener in foods. High fructose corn syrup is a hydrolyzed version of ordinary corn syrup, which is produced via a steeping process. It is so widely used because it is both economically favorable and it helps to preserve food for extended periods of time. However, the drawbacks of high fructose corn syrup include issues like potential obesity, diabetes, loss of liver function, malnutrition, and cancer. The fact that the producers of high fructose corn syrup can deceive people that HFCS is harmless makes matters worse. As corn will naturally ferment, it is bathed in water containing sulfur dioxide. The water is kept at an elevated temperature at about 120 Fahrenheit for the 40 hour duration of the steeping process. George Inglett indicates that during that time, the corn absorbs water, swelling to its maximum size, and starches are loosened from the protein matrix (79). Soluble components in the corn are also removed during steeping. The steepwater is often recovered, allowed to ferment, and used to make antibiotics in its fermented form. The second major step is milling. After the steepwater is drained, the kernels are sent to degerminating mills. Here, the kernels are torn apart and the oil containing germ is freed in centrifuges. The oil containing germs are ground to separate the starch and gluten from the coarser particles. These two elements are separated with centrifuges, and the extraction of water completes the process of recovery. Finally, the starch and gluten are refined to make pure corn syrup. By extracting different portions of the corn at different times, other products can be produced from basic corn like corn oil, feeds, starches, antibiotics, and other sweeteners. Producing corn syrup is the simple part of making high fructose corn syrup. It took the sugar industry many years to figure out how to increase the fructose content and thus the sweetness of corn syrup. Ordinary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Policy Language Of Clipper Mill Fed Accordingly, since Clendenin Bros., the policy language has been broadened seemingly in response to Clendenin Bros. and similar cases to include not only environmental pollution, but also, substances that are harmful or toxic to persons [or] property. The significance of this distinction was recognized in Clipper Mill Fed., LLC v. Cincinnati Ins. Co, 2010 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 112172 (D.Md. 2010), where a landlord/insured alleged that damages caused by [t]oxic and dangerous airborne pollutants attributable to a malfunctioning HVAC unit gave rise to a claim against the insured by a tenant. In that case, although the pollutionat issue was not environmental, the District of Maryland observed that: The policy in the present case contains an important distinction from that involved in Clendenin Bros. The CGL Policy tracks the definition of Pollutant contained in the policy at issue in Clendenin Bros., but adds, Pollutants include but are not limited to substances which are generally recognized in industry or government to be harmful or toxic to persons, property or the environment. . . . Compare Clendenin Bros., 889 A.2d at 390, with CGL Policy, Form GA 1011204 В§ V(18) (emphasis added). • 10. Economic Development Of Hong Kong How can we situate colonialism within the broader globalization processes of industrialization and deindustrialization in Hong Kong? Globalization is manifesting itself as a result of colonial processes. The effects of Hong Kong s colonial history are still present as it is not its own independent city state and currently has semi autonomous rule under mainland China. After giving a brief history on colonial Hong Kong, I will be focusing on the Sino British Agreement of 1984 and its subsequent effects on the city s decolonization process, including democratization, economic development, and decolonization of the education system as compared to the predicted changes under the agreement. Hong Kong (HK) began as a British colony in 1842 as a spoil of victory from the Opium War (Chan Postiglione, p. 3). Its markets and ports were driven by regional trade and their strategic location. Hong Kong has since then become a cosmopolitan city state of global significance and serves as the gateway to trade with mainland China. Further, HK acts as a catalyst for the economic development of southern China, where HK industries employ manufacturing labour force workers in the neighboring Guangdong province. Hong Kong is therefore dependent on China s own economic growth and modernization, however, its successful free trade and market society are in contrast to its lack of a fully democratic form of government under British rule (Chan, Postiglione, p. 3). • 11. The American Of The United States Army As for the US Army, they had been given orders by which they had to abide which lacked defined rules of engagement. This meant that they had to complete the mission, and their superiors did not necessarily care if the natives were pleased or harmed with the outcomes. As far as they were concerned, there was land that had not been claimed legally and they wanted it. This was a huge change for the natives from when they had met Lewis and Clark on their journey exploring the Louisiana Territory decades earlier because both parties involved were amicable and cooperative. Even later when more white settlers came west and moved into lands the Indians once occupied, they voluntarily moved onto reservations without major issues. This was accomplished fluidly because the natives, unlike the white settlers, did not consider land to be owned by any person or group; land was theirs to do with what they would, which was to survive and live rivers for water, animals for food, and other natural resources to create their homes, clothes, and instruments. The Battle of Big Hole was a demonstration of violence of action, and how rules of engagement have come to be created; the natives would have easily sat down and discussed the matters encircling the massive amounts of land available to them, but the settlers were misinformed and the government had a defense complex of doing what needed to be done for their side, and not necessarily thinking about alternative options to going in to battle ... • 12. Essay about The Human Genome Project Genetic engineering is, at best, a debatable branch of science. For some, it is the wave of the future: a method for perfecting the human genome, discarding flaws from infants before they are born and ensuring they live longer, healthier lives. For others, it is an abomination: a method of circumventing what nature gave you, and wholly unnatural. Which one is right? (Bird). Naturally, geneticsis the scientific study of inherited variations in the DNA strand. Human genetics should be a considerable option in the future to benefit our world. For example, gene therapy can be used to cure genetic diseases like leukemia. For instance, a young man from Douglas, Arizona, a town boarding Mexico, underwent chemotherapy, but if he had gone through gene therapy instead of the harmful chemotherapy radiation that could have been performed many toils would have been prevented for the young man and his family. Gene therapy is an experimental way of using inheritable factors to treat or prevent diseases it is also an experimental technique that is used to substitute a gene that works right for a non working gene. In fact, in human genetics, gene therapy is the use of genetic material as medicine involving the transfer of working or therapeutic copy of a gene into specific cells of an individual to repair a copy of a faulty gene. In the future, this technique may be used to allow doctors to treat any disorder instead of using drugs or surgery by inserting a gene into a patient s cells. Several researchers are testing numerous approaches to gene therapy, including taking out or deactivating a mutated gene that has improper functioning, and introducing a new genetic factor into the body that will help fight a disease. In fact, several areas of criteria must be met for the procedure to work. After all, many believers claim it is unethical to use this technology, genetic engineering, because these genius ... • 16. Society Reflection After this week s reading and videos I learned many new intriguing perspectives about society. Also, the video taught me a very important lesson about discrimination. I thought the lesson the teacher taught was unique and got her point across extremely well. She really put people in the shoes of the less fortunate that are being discriminated. The readings on the first day I found very interesting because people are the only ones that affect the rapid changes of society. The weeks readings and videos relate to each other because the way society changes now is how discrimination on skin colors started and affected millions of lives that could of even took lives away. The first day readings show that every decision someone makes has affected the changes in society. For example the hippie movement a group of people started wearing tie dye colors and listening to their type of music. Over time it caught on and their society significantly changed. The video has some points about this too. The president s decision to kick the indians out of their taught other americans that they re worthless and they have the power to discriminate against them with no punishment. Day 2 readings said that we do things or pay people money even if they don t work all the time. They also pay regular visits to a holy mouth man in order to protect their teeth despite the pain involved in every visit, and that their teeth continue to decay anyway. • 17. The Weakness Of Society In Aristophanes s Play The Frogs In Aristophanes play the Frogs he exercises some privileges such as criticizing the politicians and playing fun with the gods to make the situation seem more light and fun. He mostly sticks to the main problem that their society is losing the Peloponnesian war and that if they don t return to the old ways of thinking and doing things then the kingdom will fall. Through his play he points out several flaws in their society and what they can do to fix them but refraining from offending anyone by saying it through the humorous situations and tones of the play. Throughout the play Aristophanesamuses and informs his audience through the songs of the chorus and the actions and words of his characters. The chorus allows for a humorous and lovely way to sum up what others may have missed. This informs the crowd about what has just transpired while also providing the crowd advice and allowing them to send prayers to the gods. Such as on page 181 when the chorus leader says We ll put on serious looks and have our say. And first for those misguided souls I plead. Who in the past to Phrynichus paid heed, It s history now; their folly they regret. The time has come to forgive and forget. and when the chorus leader says This city treats her soundest men today: By a coincidence more sad than funny, It is very much like the way we treat our money. The noble silver drachma, which of old, We were so proud of, and the one of gold, Coins that rang true (clean stamped and worth their weight) Throughout the world have ceased to circulate. Instead the purses of Athenian shoppers. Are full of phony silver plated coppers . This is advice given about how Athens treats its people it gets them thinking about this subject long after the play has ended. The chorus is how Aristophanes creates a light way to tell his listeners his ideas about their own society and what they should do about their situation. He also entertains his audience with the physical acts of the play such as when the god Dionysusand his slave are being tested by being spanked to see which of them is actually a god. Through this act Aristophanes is not trying to make fun of Dionysus even though he is shown as cowardly, idiotic and very silly all dressed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Using the principles of development learned in this course the authoritarian parent and the uninvolved parent could both make significant changes in order to promote better individual development and growth. A child may develop an aggressive behavior with an authoritarian parent and their externalizing and internalizing problems stem from this type of parenting style. (Braza, P. 2015) The authoritarian parent expects their child to be absolutely obedient and this often times leads to the child having a higher than normal likely of getting in trouble. These kinds of parents keep control of their children s behaviors as much as possible and create firm rules so the child knows the consequences of breaking the rules. Authoritarian parents develop similar patterns of parenting within the other sources of child bearing. Authoritarian parents often times score higher due to children searching for independence in the developmental process which increases conflicts. The IWC is a group of nations that come together and make decisions based on how they can preserve cetaceans. The smaller cetaceans, like dolphins, are not protected under the bigger umbrella. One of the best traits of my team was our excellent use of coordination. Coordination helped us stay organized, as well as made each team member more effective. We never missed a team meeting, and always completed our assigned work on time. The Gantt chart we created towards the beginning of our project, helped each member stay organized, so no one member took on a larger share of work than assigned to. As well as staying organized, we worked well as a team, and I believe we all respected each others abilities to complete our own tasks. The reason we were able to function so well, was because only the facilitator had the desire to lead. There were no power struggle and confrontations. • 30. Thucydides And Thucydides History And Warfare Herodotus and Thucydides were historians who dramatically influenced the way we look at Greek history and warfare. The two historians approach their stories in completely different ways, which ultimately leads to different explanations of the origins of conflict. Herodotus focuses on recalling the origins of the Ionian Revolt, the rise of the Persian Empire, and the Persian Wars with Greece, while Thucydides writes about the Peloponnesian War. M.I. Finely suggests, in the introduction of Thucydides book that Thucydides is complementing Herodotus by beginning where Herodotus left off (Finley, History of the Peloponnesian War p.16). Although these two historians approach the start of conflicts in different ways, it seems that Thucydides is not suggesting that Herodotus explanations are wrong. While evaluating conflicts of warfare, Herodotus provides a less bias perspective than Thucydides, but Thucydides is able to understand the underlying causes of wars better due to the fact that he is writing about warfare that he was alive for. She was born in Bristol, England on February 3, 1821 to a liberal and wealthy family. She was the third daughter in a family of nine children. Her father, Samuel Blackwell, believed in the value of education and knowledge and hired a governess for the girls, even though many girls were not educated in those days. In 1832, the family sugar cane plantation went bankrupt, forcing the family to move to America. As a young lady, Elizabeth Blackwell was similar to other women her age. She had an emotional and passionate nature and had many romantic pursuits. However, in 1838, she moved ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her abolitionist leanings made her unpopular in her new community, as did her extreme stands on women s rights. She was very vocal about what she felt about women, saying in a speech once if society will not admit of women s free development, then society must be remodeled. After a couple of years in Kentucky, she was more than ready for a change. That change came as a suggestion from the lips of a woman dying of cancer. Mary Donaldson, a long time friend of Elizabeth Blackwell, suggested that a female doctor would have eased her pain and torment during her battle with cancer. Elizabeth took this suggestion to heart, and actively began a rebellion against unjust societal prejudices. The challenges of her new task fascinated her, as did the eventual opportunities of the medical field to escape societies sexual restrictions. With a single minded determinedness, she clamped down on her dislike of ugly things to study medicine to improve the conditions for women in the future. In order to achieve this ... • 41. Evaluation Of A Nurse For My Clinical Essay This week, I had the opportunity to be in the OR department for my clinical. I spent a whole day observing the operation processes and the procedure itself, at the same time, I was able to get the patient to the post operative care before they are discharged or sent to another floor for further observation. I had an opportunity to observe four procedures. When I first arrived I was fortunate enough to meet with a nurse who let me in the OR, who happened to be the preoperative nurse that I will work with. After changing, we got a list of 2 patients. The first thing the nurse did was to explain to me that we had to look for basic information such as allergies, lab results, present history and physical for the patient. If there is no previous history within the last month or weeks, then we need to remind the doctor to write a new one. Once we met with the patients, we started by taking vital signs, asking their identity, and ask them to explain why they are there and what procedure they are there for. I remember my nurse asking the patients about whether or not they are in the menopausal stages or if there is a chance of them being pregnant. At the same time, my nurse gave antibacterial wipes for the patients to wipe themselves in specific areas and change into the hospital gowns. My nurse then started the IV with fluid and antibiotics while we discuss the medical history of the patient from the previous procedure to active diagnosis, to medication that they are taking and ... Introduction Internet has grown rapidly over the past few years. MAN and WAN prove to be expensive due to leasing lines from Service providers. MPLS and Frame Relay have ruled the Wide Area Network over the years in providing private communication. It was needed for an intermediate solution which can provide security as well as be private. We can replace MPLS and Frame Relay with DMVPN as it uses a simple hub and spoke model similar to the one used in frame relay and also virtually separate different networks while maintaining the same infrastructure similar to what MPLS does. As they grow and learn, you see them explore the world and all the things we have become accustomed too. While all children grow differently, they all experience and go through the same stages; physical, cognitive, and socio emotional development. One of the first noticeable factors associated with the growth of an infant is how they develop physically. Physical development involves the physical changes that take place with an infant; this involves their facial features, which begin to take definition, and they begin to grow in length, and weight. Naturally, infants are born with reflexes or natural body responses such as, sucking, blinking, awareness, and grasping. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Love, support, and care are essential to a child brain to develop efficiently, a parent or giver must provide constant interaction and attention. Cognitive development involves the way infants think, perceive things, solve problems, and begin to understand the world around them. Imitation is a perfect combination of both cognitive and socio emotional development; this is a way infants learn. As caregivers interact with their infant and begin to express emotions, the infant will copy what they see their caregiver do. Interaction like this plays a role in your infant s brain development. The sensorimotor stage incorporates senses (sight, hearing, tasting, and feeling) with physical actions. An infant becomes interested in bright colors, or movement, and begins to respond to an action such as a smiling caregiver. This concept is similar to joint attention, when a caregiver points to an object, and the infant becomes aware of it. While, these concepts are based on cognitive development, socio emotional development also plays an important role. Object permanence is a mixture of both cognitive and physical development. We know object permanence to be when an infant understands that an object exists even though the object is not in sight. This concept is in close relation with physical development, because object permanence involves the senses, which play a large role in physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Characteristics Of Modern Christianity 1. A Unique and Important Practice in Modern Christianity There are many Christian practices, all of the diversified importance to the lives of the believers of the faith. These variegated practices are what differentiates Christians from people of other faiths, and gives them autonomy. According to Craig Dykstra, Christian practices are not activities we do to make something spiritual happen in our lives. Nor are they duties we undertake to be obedient to God. Rather, they are patterns of communal action that create openings in our lives where the grace, mercy, and presence of God may be made known to us (Spiritual Practices, n.d., p. 1). Therefore, Christian practices are the daily engagements that believers of the faith undertake in line with what is expected of them. This paper will discuss fasting as a practice in modern Christianity that is unique and important to the faith of believers and will provide a summary describing fasting, how it developed, and why it is significant in the lives of at least some contemporary Christians. In addition, this paper will also discuss Evangelicalism as a movement within Christianity which started within the past 200 years, having distinctive beliefs, and impact on modern and contemporary Christianity (Christendom). One practice in modern Christianity that is unique is fasting (Colbert, 2006). Often, fasting is related to a person lacking or rather, doing without food, however, this is not the case. Through ... Angela Merkel is the current leader of this center right political group. MacKenzie defines sociopathy as a personality disorder characterized by a lack of social responsibility and failure to adapt to ethical and social standards of the community (Mosby s Medical, Nursing, Allied Health Dictionary, 2002, p. 1599). After she defines the many personality disorders she discusses in the article, she discusses how much of the research of behavioral disorders began in the 1800 s when mental asylums became popular (2014). The first classification of a disorder similar to sociopathy was manie sans delire or insanity without delirium. Even though psychopathy is the disorder that is said to be genetic, there are significant differences in the biological brains of individuals with sociopathic disorder and those without it.
