Confidentiality: Confidentiality is the capability to hide information from those people illegal to view
it. It is maybe the most noticeable feature of the CIA triad when it comes to security; but in the same
way, it is also the one which is attacked most frequently. Cryptography and Encryption techniques are
an example of an attempt to make sure confidentiality of data transferred from one computer to second
computer.
Integrity: The integrity defines to make sure that data is correct and unchanged demonstration of the
unique secure information. One kind of security attack is to intercept a few important data and make
alterations to it before sending it on to the proposed receiver.
Availability: It is significant to make sure that the information concerned is readily available to the
certified viewer at all times. Some kinds of security attack challenge to reject access to the suitable
user, either for the sake of troubling them, or because there is various secondary effect (Perrin, 2008).
For example, by breaking the web site for a specific search engine, a rival may turn into more popular.

Cannery Row Doc And Mack Relationship
In John Steinbeck s Cannery Row, two main characters, Doc and Mack, set up the main plot for the
book. Mack and his gang of misfit men, also known as the boys , decide that Doc is a good man and
deserves a party. After careful planning and hard work to pull it off, the party still goes wrong and Doc
s house gets destroyed. The whole Row shuns Mack and the boys and everything in the town starts
going wrong, until Doc helps the boys with their dog and they in thanks, throw him another, this time
successful, party. Through many events in Cannery Row, it is hinted that the relationship between Doc
and Mack affects the entire Row and is contingent with contrasting use of similar intellect.

Mack is a character who does not seem to be successful or wealthy at the beginning of Cannery Row;
however, he proves his intellect throughout the events of the story. During this novella, Mack and the
boys hunt for frogs to get some money. In the forest, the men come across the owner of the land, who
is threatening Mack and the boys to get off his property. Mack tells the owner about the frogs and
what these animals will be used for, and says They (scientists) give cancer to the frogs and then they
can study and experiment and they got it nearly licked if they can just get some frogs (79). In this
circumstance, Mack uses his knowledge and intelligence to manipulate the situation to fit his own
personal interests, by holding a conversation about cancer research. This character uses his wit to have
contentment in life with the boys; most men fail at achieving contentment in life, but Mack and the
boys absorb this fulfillment in their own ways. Mack s success is defined by how he utilizes the

The Peace Dollar Quotes
V8 Engine The engine represents the theme of teamwork and trust. In the engine it does not matter
how effective each cylinder is independent of the others because if one cylinder is not functioning, the
whole engine will not operate properly. This is similar to the eight rowers working in Joe s boat, they
must learn not just to row well on their own, but to row well as a boat. Joe learns he must trust the
other boys in the boat, so they can work as a boat, instead of individuals. Peace Dollar The Peace
Dollar is an era accurate representation of the theme of class struggle. Class and financial poverty are
frequent visible themes in the book. The most obvious is Joe s lower class background and constant
struggle to find enough money to attend school. Another example is the competitions between ... Show

Joe is abandoned, on more than one occasion, by his father. This leaves him with a desire for a place
to call home, as well as a strong sense of independence. Though he initially approaches rowing with
his desire to remain independent of others, he finds, once he lets his guard down, many of his
teammates are similar to himself. The boathouse and the team become the family and home he never
had. He eventually finds he can even trust them. His new home is not only beneficial to Joe s
emotional health, he also shows improved connection with his teammates on the water. Black Power
Olympic salute This represents the theme of political significance given to sporting events. The book
describes much of the effort by the Nazis to create a positive global image of Germany, through the
olympics. We see the great lengths The Nazis went to in preparation for the games, as well as related
media created to support their political views. We are also told of the great political significance of the
boat s victory against more experienced european teams, as well as the significance of Jesse Owens

Oxygen Therapy Research Paper
Oxygen therapy is used in those patients who have a condition that causes oxygen levels in the blood
to be too low. Thus the patient can breathe through this form of treatment increases the amount of
oxygen that the lungs receive and deliver to the blood. Therapy can be received in different ways. It
may be through tubes resting on the nose, a face mask, or a tube placed in the trachea. Patients who
have low blood oxygen levels may feel short of air, tired or confused, and can harm your body.
Because oxygen therapy can be administered for short or long periods of time, it can be used in
different settings such as in the hospital, or at home. In the case of treatment in the house, the oxygen
will be delivered in tanks, which will require refills. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Smoking in homes where oxygen is used is not allowed. Candles, matches, wood stoves and even
sparkling toys should not be used, as they may be sources of ignition. Oxygen cylinders should be
kept at least five feet from a source of heat, open flames, or electrical devices. Because body oil, hand
lotion and items containing oil and grease can light easily, they should be kept away where the oxygen
is in use. Nor should aerosols contain combustible materials near oxygen3
Doctors who prescribe medical oxygen should take into account potential hazards when used in the
home and that these hazards must be managed to ensure the safety of all concerned. We must assess
the patient s ability, and the home environment to initiate medical oxygen in the community. This
assessment should ensure the safe storage of equipment and ensure that the patient or caregiver can
administer oxygen therapy at home. This includes an understanding of equipment operation and the
ability to handle shut off valves, flow meters, and other controls.4
Patients or caregivers should receive basic training in the use of oxygen equipment in the home and
how to handle simple problems, preferably with the available reference material. Appropriate signage
should also be provided to alert health professionals and emergency services that oxygen therapy
equipment is on

Visual Representation Is Our Cultural Dictator
Visual representation is our cultural dictator, the general sense of the word is the description or
portrayal of someone or something in a particular way (Oxford Dictionaries., 2014). In terms of
design it s the depiction of someone or something in a work of art (Oxford Dictionaries., 2014).
Representation is constructed of social values; it influences status, class and politics. The circuit of
culture (Hall, S., 1997, p.1) is the system in which society operates; it includes identity, production,
consumption, regulation and representation. To understand this circuit, we must understand the
substances of culture,
It s said to embody the best that has been thought and said in a society. It is the sum of great ideas, as
represented in the classic works of literature, painting, music and philosophy the high culture of an
age. (Hall, S., 1997 p.2) Fuelling 21st century culture is the economics and marketing of the first
world. The desire to consume is the notion of creating a persona through visual identity.
Representation in the physical sense is presenting oneself , (Williams, R. 1978, p.266) it s realised that
consumption is complicated because it s dictated by individual taste. Humanity resembles chameleons,
in the present day we are exposed and adaptable to fast fashion. Mass produced high street clothing
imitates couture fashion. At factional prices, cheaper quality alternatives are obtainable to the working
class, therefore trends are quickly outdated and

The Music Of Music Videos
The development of music videos throughout many years has changed rapidly due to the relationship
between media forms and platforms of different media kind of texts. Some issues in contemporary
music videos are from the evolution of new technologies, social media and politics. Thus, artists
throughout time have taken advantage of music videos in order to use it as a site for debates about
politics of representation. Nowadays the majority of music videos are transforming and turning into
short films and art in order for the artists to express themselves through this function. A music video
that illustrates these media contexts is Justin Timberlake s song What Goes Around . This essay will
firstly describe this music video and how it has broadened the definition of the term music video, and
then examine how this is relevant to media contexts. Therefore, with new technologies arising in
music videos it tends to contribute to changes in ideas of musicianship and performance.
On February 7th 2007, the artists Justin Timberlake released his music video to his song What Goes
Around which turned out to be a short film as it was nine minutes and twenty two seconds long. It was
directed by Samuel Bayer and starred the actress Scarlett Johansson. It features acting, dialogue and of
course the song itself. The lyrics of the song and the actions shown within the music video are of a
relationship that ended badly due to cheating. It shows and portrays women s bodies as a sex object

Furthermore, the researches included a chaplain and a social worker in the survey, thus making the
suitability of the participants questionable, which may invalidate the results (Parahoo, 2014). The
study concluded that the majority of healthcare providers (HP S) were supportive of FWR (73%)
despite concerns regarding the behaviour of family members and concern for the emotional burden
that they associated with witnessing resuscitation. However, most participants stressed that they would
prefer a designated member of staff to accompany the witnesses during the resuscitation (Lederman
and Wacht, 2014). In contrast, a study by Bushby et al (2012), which comprised of a self completed
anonymous questionnaire of all HP s within the ED of a single Australian hospital; found that the
preponderance of staff who were opposed to FWR perceived that it would have a negative emotional
impact on the family member. Their concerns focused on the prospect of the witness developing Post
traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, there is a wealth of strong evidence to suggest the
contrary (Jabre et al, 2013; Hanson et al, 2005; Holzhauser et al; 2006 and Meyer et al, 2000. This
suggests that awareness of current FWR research is limited, and implies that education programmes

Literature Review On Promoting Mental Health And Reducing...
Literature Review
During formative years, children and adolescents spend a considerable amount of time at school
receiving instruction from an array of educators. While the continued focus of education systems is to
improve a child s academic skills, there has been a growing body of research which draws attention to
the social and emotional well being of students as well. Payton et al s (2000) article on promoting
mental health and reducing risk behavior in children and adolescents provides that SEL programs use
classroom based curriculum and instruction that center around improving emotional cognition of
children and developing pro social skills (e.g., empathy, sharing) when working with others.
Successful SEL programs decrease problem behaviors by improving positive behaviors as a
replacement, and can therefore help to further the social and emotional development of students while
improving their academics by helping them to recognize emotions and manage them as they arise. The
goal for SEL programs is to create more socially aware citizens by nurturing individuals (children and
adolescents) to have the motivation to work hard toward goals, create and maintain good personal
relationships, and later contribute to society. Although this change starts while these children are still
students, it will continue to positively affect them for the rest of their lives. Therefore, these programs
can serve to support, reinforce, and extend the learning beyond the classroom into

Narrative Essay About Beowulf
Season: Summer Location: Riverfalls aquarium. Date: 30th of Summer, 492AV Outside, the hot sun
sat high above Riverfall. With summer under way the atmosphere was thick with clouds and humidity.
Child and adult alike gathered together in search of whatever reprieve could be found, sticking to
refreshing water and cool shade. Some chose a more adventurous method to escape the oppressive
weather, taking to the water park and aquarium. Occasionally Zaileys father would pay to cross the
waters between Alvadas and Riverfall to trade some of the skins he had gathered over the past season
or two. Tanning wasn t what he was paid to do in Alvadas but more of the result of a pastime he
enjoyed and an excuse to visit Riverfall. Because there was always the risk of danger, the father would
normally take one of his boys with him, confident that if things turned sour, they would have a better
chance at taking care of themselves. This time however, after much thought and discussion with his
wife, he invited his daughter, believing the journey to be an excellent opportunity to bond with his

Reflective Reflection Essay
Different theories and ways of practising exist for counsellors, with reflective practice becoming more
popular amongst practitioners. Dallos, Stedmon (2009) state that for professionals working directly
with people, such as counsellors, reflective practice has quickly developed into a fundamental
component of training, and the best practice for creating successful outcomes. This essay will focus on
how reflective practice is critical for professional life, and how the use of reflection and theory can be
used by counselling practitioners to inform their practice. Reflective practice is a complex concept and
has many alternate definitions and understandings of what reflective practice actually means. By
breaking down the two parts and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Geldard, Geldard, Yin Foo (2017) recognise that reflective practice can also help the counsellor
prevent exhaustion or burnout in the work place. From the use of some simple questions about how
they are feeling, and by reflecting on their practice, counsellors can stop exhaustion before it occurs.
Wheatley (2002, cited in Bassot, 2016) proposes that without reflection, we go blindly on our own
way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful (p.1). In other
words, reflection can help the counsellor learn from their mistakes, and the consequences of these
mistakes, in order to move forward and achieve more positive and successful outcomes for their
clients. Additionally, reasoning for the recent increase in popularity could be that reflection in practice
helps counsellors to identify and deconstruct the clients thoughts and assumptions rather than just
focusing on the narrative of their story (Hickson, 2011). It is now becoming apparent why reflective
practice is becoming more popular amongst the counselling profession and is a critical component to
professional life. Dallos, Stedmon (2009) argue that in order for reflection in practice to be achieved,
the counsellor must see reflection as a consecutive process of assessing and reassessing relevant
events or incidents, and evaluating the outcomes to learn from past experiences. Simply questioning
past events and incidents can help counsellors

Nursing is a time consuming job. Often people hear of car burn outs where you press on the breaks

The Building Blocks Of Learning
Emily Whitmer Rose Glasser EDTP 201 10/28/16 Ethnography: The Building Blocks of Learning I
remember my first day going to a school to observe. It felt more inquiring, rather than being obligated
to go to school just because I had to, like the state required us to. Ever since I have been given two
field placements, I have been increasingly interested in the teaching profession. My first field
placement has been an eye opener for all other rolls in a school. It has showed me just how important
other rolls are in a school, and how they can affect and tie into how a student does in a classroom.
Having two field placements has given me a new outlook on the classroom environment, curriculum,
and what goes on behind the scenes in the teaching profession. In my second field placement, which is
what this ethnography will evolve around, I was placed at Blue Lick Elementary School (right next to
Knight Middle School). Blue Lick Elementary School collaborates with Knight Middle School, to
ease the transition to 6th grade. This school is located in Heritage Creek, which is also close to my
first placement, Fairdale High School. The population in this neighborhood is low income. There are
480 students and the student teacher ratio is 16:1. Blue Lick Elementary School is a public co ed

The next and most important step is to make contact with the organization of your choice. Making
contact with a secret society may be the most difficult part of the process. The Internet is a great place
to start. If you can find a member who has identified himself, gently inquire about joining. You will
most likely need to develop a relationship with any member you meet before they will enlighten you
about any details about their group. In addition, look for any information on places or meeting spots in
your area. Masonic temples are often well established, and you may be able to find locations where
other secret societies meet. If you show up and speak with the member at the door, you may be able to
find out what you need to do to join. There is a list of people who are associated with these secret
societies. I could name almost over one thousand prominent people in government, politics, and
entertainment that are affiliated with these societies. Previous Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush
Senior, and George Bush Junior, and Senator John Kerry were all members of the Collegiate
Organization Skull and Bones founded at Yale University. There also have been rumors that some
entertainers in the industry of music and acting are incorporated with these societies. These rumors
have stated that rapper Jay Z is affiliated with the Masons and also the Illuminati. Commentators have

Local Self Government
Introduction
Local government institutions have always existed in India in one form or another since ancient times.
The present form of urban local government owes its genesis to the British rule. The initiation began
with Samuel Laing, member of the Viceroy s Council, in the Budget Speech (1861 62) proposing that
local services should be based on local resources. Lord Mayo s Resolution of 1870 introduced the
concept of elected representatives in the municipalities. Lord Ripon is considered the founding father
of urban local government as he implanted the concept of municipal authorities as units of self
government. His Resolution of 18 May 1882 on local self government dealt with the constitution of
local bodies, their functions, finances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The government had a direct link with the peasants instead of the feudatories. The Chola kings had
adopted the Yuvaraja during king`s rule. The orders of the kings were written and copies of it would
be sent to respective departments and officers. The royal priest was the reliable advisor of the King.
Development of local self government was one of the most striking features of administration of the
Chola dynasty. The villages were given autonomy despite centralised system of governance. The
Chola officials acted as advisors to village assemblies and there was no interference in daily
administration. Thus there was continuity in village administration despite political upheavals. The
general assembly was classified into tax paying villagers, Brahmins and traders. The central
government officers examined accounts and supervised the work of the tax paying villagers. The
village assemblies received gifts from rich men or from king for developmental activities. The
feudatories were unable to impede in the village management. Their job was very clerical in the sense
it was a mere collection of taxes and passing the share to the King.
Elaborate and complicated mechanisms are the attributes of Chola administration. Administration
under the Chola dynasty was systematically conducted. Autonomy along with centralization was
moderately followed in each and every level. Revenue, justice, governance and military were given

Gang Violence During The 19th Century
¨Gang members have been responsible for 61 percent of all homicides [in Chicago] in 2011, up from
58.7 percent in 2010¨ (Hidden America). These are some of the few disturbing statistics about gang
violence in Chicago; however, as many people do not know, gangs have not always been about drugs
and violence. In the early 19th century, gangs are not what people perceive them to be today. Gangs in
the 19th century were volunteers with the fire department back in the Antebellum Period, which is the
period before the civil war and after the War of 1812. As time went on and as the professional firemen
forced the volunteers to break up, they started spreading apart. Then by the late 19th century, gangs

Essay on War and Bush
War and Bush
War has taken place all over the world. It is brutal at times even necessary, and the United States of
America has seen its own share of wars. Since September 11, 2001, the President of the United States
has launched a war on terrorism, and currently we are still at war. The War on Terrorism has been one
of the most important battles our country has ever had and overall it has been the best for the U.S. as
well as Iraq. The United States does have its motives for the war, and those purposes are what make
this country as safe as it is today.

to realize the news can be a very one sided source. California itself is very liberal and that can affect
the way the news is run, but the fact is California is not the only location in the U.S. The same news
sources that criticized the war are also the same individuals who show negativity on television every

show such atrocities of people getting beheaded to get people talking and the more they talk the more

The war in Iraq has drawn a very rough line that the U.S. will not stand for terrorism and will fight to

they have felt since 9/11. Many people say Saddam was never a threat and the U.S. should have never

Luther Standing Bear Analysis
My First Buffalo, by Luther Standing Bear, may be one of the more terse stories in the anthology,
Native American Autobiography, but it by no means lacks wisdom. When reading the captivating
story, I was struck by the amount of life lessons that could be pulled out of one single experience in
Luther Standing Bear s childhood. On the surface, My Buffalo seems to be a simple coming of age
story, however once properly analyzed, you can find a story that teaches you to listen and respect
those wiser than yourself, to honor the art of hunting and to only speak the truth.
The first lesson I caught onto fairly quickly was to value and listen to you elders. Before his first
Buffalo hunting endeavour, Luther Standing Bear s father gives him some wise words of advice. He
stresses the importance of staying observant, saying, Whatever you do, watch the buffalo closely
(Krupat 301) and warns Luther Standing Bear to keep his eyes open when he passes through dust. He
also urges Luther Standing Bear to hunt with precision and patience. While this advice may seem
obvious and easy to follow, Luther Standing Bear has trouble putting such information into action at
first. When chasing the buffalo, he gets disoriented in the dust and starts to panic. Luther Standing
Bear states, I then realized how helpless I was there in all that dust and confusion. The sound of their
hoofs was frightening (Krupat 303). This moment of panic shows how essential Luther Standing Bear

Patrick Gillespie s Let Poetry Die
Patrick Gillespie, in his article Let Poetry Die, argues that poetry is dying, and we should let it. He
explains that the public lost interest in poetry because modern poets refused to accept their criticism.
This caused the quality of poetry to decrease. Gillespie believes that the solution to this problem is to
[l]et [p]oetry [d]ie [s]o that it can be reborn (Gillespie 4). Gillespie s first claim in his article is that
poetry is being forgotten by the public.
He claims that as far as the public is concerned, poetry died with the modernists, for only a few
passing pedestrians could name a poet from the last 50 to 60 years (Gillespie 1). He then states that if
you [a]sk anyone to name a novelist of the last half century, ... names will come tumbling, but if you
[a]sk anyone to name a contemporary poet, ... you will be lucky to scrape by with John Ashbery
(Gillespie 1). Even though John Ashbery is considered one of the greatest poets of the 20th century, he
is unknown to most people. Gillespie believes that the public is forgetting poetry. ... Show more

He states that the Poetry Foundation was headed toward irrelevance, at best, and oblivion at worst, but
a large donation by Ruth Lilly helped the foundation and is the only reason it is what it is today

Poetry Foundation should not have been saved by Lilly s donation. He then continues to criticize Lilly
s contribution, claiming that it thwarted [t]he survival of the fittest, for the Poetry Foundation is
surviving and flourishing because of Lilly s wealth, not because of any intrinsic or hard earned merit
(Gillespie 2). Gillespie believes that the Poetry Foundation does not deserve to survive, for it exists

Macbeth Weather Quotes
1. The Weather and the Setting
The weather is of a great importance, especially at the beginning of the play, for it informs not to

When shall we three meet again
In thunder, lightning, or in rain?
Second Witch
When the hurlyburly s done,
When the battle s lost and won.
Third Witch
That will be ere the set of sun.
First Witch
Where the place?
Second Witch
Upon the heath. (A1, s1, p.4)
The Witches are negotiating about their second encounter giving no possibilities for it to be during the
stable weather, therefore such meeting wouldn t make sense for the evil characters like The Witches.
Thunder, lightning and rain symbolize evil and ominous. Heath would be another useful device that ...

Rabbit Run by John Updike Essay
Rabbit Run by John Updike The world of John Updike s Rabbit, Run is a collection of polarities that
dramatizes the in betweeness and the constant state of tension that characterizes humanity. A cursory
perusal of John Updike s Rabbit, Run reveals a world of hopeless futility in which Harry Angstrom
runs in ever tightening circles. Rabbit is always running, from one woman to another, between Brewer
and Mt. Judge, between solitude and society. Rabbit is torn because he has faith in something

The Little Red Riding Hood
Do you ever wonder why writers retell our childhood tales? Does is ever occur to you that the tales
being retold may be used to tell a reader a deeper message? During our childhood we were told stories
of many sorts that directed a message to the reader, such as The Little Red Riding Hood by Charles
Perrault. As children, our parents read this short story in order for us to receive the authors message to
not talk to strangers or else something bad can happen. Children see tales such as The Little Red
Riding Hood very differently than adults do. As adults, they see this young attractive village girl being
tricked by the wolf who gathers information he needs to find her grandmother to eat. Overtime, the
story has changed numerous times based ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the symbols that periodically pops up in many of the Little Red Riding Hood tales is the red
cap that Little Red wears. The cap is given to her by her grandmother, which symbolizes a deeper
message in the retellings. The story by Perrault really doesn t symbolize anything, mainly noted that it
was given by her grandmother, however, in Angela Carters story it represents the transition to women
hood. Carter states, She closed the window on the wolves threnody and took off her scarlet shawl, the
color of poppies, the color of sacrifices, the color of her menses, and since her fear did her no good,
she ceased to be afraid. What shall I do with my shawl? Throw it on the fire, dear one. You won t need
it again (649). Here Little Red Riding Hood burns her shawl, which represent her sexuality. Little Red
is no longer betrayed as a little girl, she ends her innocence by burning her shawl which ends her
virginity. Symbols can represent more than just a symbolic meaning but making it important or a
lesson taught to the readers. The shawl that represents her cape which symbolizes the end of her little
girl innocence because she gets naked in front of the wolf and the story goes on to lose her virginity.
Another symbol that resonance Little Red in general is,

To His Coy Mistress Analysis
Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress, written in the year 1681, gives readers the implication that he
was a man with progressive ideas about sex that lack concern for the common ideals and moral
standards of his lifetime. Marvell s ideas and phrases in this poem have an honest and realistic basis.
He does not sugarcoat what he is trying to say, yet he is able to poetically and coercively make his
point known to his potential mate. Opposing styles of appeal in parts one and two blossoms into an
eloquently convincing conclusion which will force his potential lover into an urgent battle between
her id and her superego. This analysis breaks the poem into thirds, the first of which (part one), the
speaker progresses slowly, as romance often does. Appealling to her romantic feminine interests, he
tries to woo the object of his affection with beautiful words and phrases. Marvel s appeal to a woman s
innate desire for romance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To act like something that you are not is not natural; therefore, it is not truthful. He wants her to rebel
against that untruth. More than likely, throughout life, she learned to perfect this coyness. Now the
speaker is breaking apart the standard she knows is true and good. According to Oxford Dictionary s
online version, quaint can be taken to mean cunningly devised (506). Although other definitions of the
word quaint exist, in this poem, the speaker obviously puts emphasis on the coy aspect of his mistress,
so it makes sense that he would (once again) point this out in part three of his poem. The speaker
implies that her unwillingness to submit to him is a result of her cunningly devised façade, or coy
attitude, not her lack of desire to do so. Though long preserved virginity, And your quaint honour turn

more appealing for readers. Word Count: 248 Extract B2 This biography, Coco Chanel: An Intimate
Life, is a secondary source text written by Lisa Chaney. Published in New York in 2011, this work
aims to examine Coco Chanel s unconventional journey from poverty to glamour, along which she
helped to redefine the idea of the modern European woman. This text is intended for an audience of
educated individuals with an interest in Coco Chanel and her legacy. Throughout this biography,
Chaney references private letters, personal records, and interviews with Chanel s friends and family to
explore the origins of Chanel s revolutionary ideas that influenced the European feminist movement.
This source is valuable because it provides an in depth examination of Coco Chanel s life through
analysis of new primary source evidence. Additionally, because Chaney is reflecting on Chanel s life
and influence in hindsight, she is able to link Chanel s work with the progression of European women
s rights throughout the twentieth century, establishing cause and effect relationships. However, this
source is limited because Chaney does not take an objective perspective, and, instead, aims to prove

How Roadways and Public transit have impacted the city
The top issue in Toronto was the poor performance of public transit such as buses, streetcars, and
subway trains. The TTC system is of very bad performance that even many transit systems in third
world countries provide users with better experiences than trasit users have in Toronto. The current
major problems with TTC are: crowding during rush periods and insufficient ridership to justify
reasonable service levels at other times. Another problem was that Rob Ford was unwilling to accept a
proposal to reduce monitoring of fare payment. I have problems with the honour system, he said. John
Tory opposed the recommendations because they are not funded. But funding such service changes ...

In June of last year the TTC announced their plan to replace tickets and tokens by integrating Presto, a
Metrolinx smart card system all across the TTC by the end of this year. Tickets and tokens will only
be accepted to mid 2017. Public transit is one of the only means of transportation for people in this
situation, they usually have to chose between basic needs or fare. Also a study in Edmonton showed
that provding youths with monthly transit passes reduces their encounter with the police or any
criminal justice system. With new changes with the TTC they lack to consider these people in this
economic state. The Presto card cost $6 and needs a minimal of $10 in it, which is paid eithier by

the card takes 7 10 days to arrive, it s more of hassle for people than to just carry over change, tickets,

A Bar At The Folies Bernre Summary
Humanities Mod 2 Benjamin Dyck Rasmussen College Author Note This paper is being submitted to
the Humanities course on 12/11/2017. A Bar at the Folies Bergère Artist: Edouard Manet (1832 83).
Subject: Suzon, according to the recollections of Manet s friends: a young woman who worked at the
Folies Bergère, one of the great Parisian cafés concerts , a kind of beer hall with music, circus acts and
other entertainment. Analysis: This painting, which was actually painted when Manet was critically ill,
upholds the artist s conflicting outlook. One approach at looking at this painting, shows it features a
modern locale in The Folies Bergere the most renowned and modern of Paris s cafe concert halls,
which was noted among many other things for its innovative electric lights. In addition, its brushwork
is Impressionistic and its framing has been swayed by the new art of photography. And another
approach, its meaning is totally opaque, even inexplicable, dealing as it does with a problem that
engaged Manet throughout his entire adult life: the relationship, in figurative painting, between
realism and illusion. Probably modelled on Las Meninas (1656), the enigmatic Baroque masterpiece
by Velazquez, the painting seems to be a straightforward frontal image of a barkeep serving behind her
counter, who peers out at us, the viewer/patron. Then we see the giant mirror behind her and the
confusing reflections it holds. The woman s reflection has been turned to the right; while in the

Elizabeth Bennet Traits
In the book, Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen, I chose Elizabeth Bennet in order to deepen
my understanding of her characteristic traits. Elizabeth Bennet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet,
who wanted her or one of the sisters to marry the rich bachelor, Mr. Bingley. I chose Elizabeth because
she is a strong woman who likes to take risks and enjoys challenging others. She is different from her
other sisters because she is an independent woman who thinks for herself as well as helping others.
Elizabeth has her own opinions of herself and does not let anyone belittle her. Not only is she a brave
woman, she is also a beautiful lady that has attracted the ruthless Mr. Darcy. Even with her beauty, she

Some issues in contemporary music videos are from the evolution of new technologies, social media and politics. Nowadays the majority of music videos are transforming and turning into short films and art in order for the artists to express themselves through this function. A music video that illustrates these media contexts is Justin Timberlake s song What Goes Around . This essay will firstly describe this music video and how it has broadened the definition of the term music video, and then examine how this is relevant to media contexts. Therefore, with new technologies arising in music videos it tends to contribute to changes in ideas of musicianship and performance. • 16. Literature Review On Promoting Mental Health And Reducing... Literature Review During formative years, children and adolescents spend a considerable amount of time at school receiving instruction from an array of educators. While the continued focus of education systems is to improve a child s academic skills, there has been a growing body of research which draws attention to the social and emotional well being of students as well. Payton et al s (2000) article on promoting mental health and reducing risk behavior in children and adolescents provides that SEL programs use classroom based curriculum and instruction that center around improving emotional cognition of children and developing pro social skills (e.g., empathy, sharing) when working with others. Successful SEL programs decrease problem behaviors by improving positive behaviors as a replacement, and can therefore help to further the social and emotional development of students while improving their academics by helping them to recognize emotions and manage them as they arise. The goal for SEL programs is to create more socially aware citizens by nurturing individuals (children and adolescents) to have the motivation to work hard toward goals, create and maintain good personal relationships, and later contribute to society. Although this change starts while these children are still students, it will continue to positively affect them for the rest of their lives. Therefore, these programs can serve to support, reinforce, and extend the learning beyond the classroom into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Geldard, Geldard, Yin Foo (2017) recognise that reflective practice can also help the counsellor prevent exhaustion or burnout in the work place. From the use of some simple questions about how they are feeling, and by reflecting on their practice, counsellors can stop exhaustion before it occurs. Wheatley (2002, cited in Bassot, 2016) proposes that without reflection, we go blindly on our own way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful (p.1). In other words, reflection can help the counsellor learn from their mistakes, and the consequences of these mistakes, in order to move forward and achieve more positive and successful outcomes for their clients. Additionally, reasoning for the recent increase in popularity could be that reflection in practice helps counsellors to identify and deconstruct the clients thoughts and assumptions rather than just focusing on the narrative of their story (Hickson, 2011). It is now becoming apparent why reflective practice is becoming more popular amongst the counselling profession and is a critical component to professional life. Dallos, Stedmon (2009) argue that in order for reflection in practice to be achieved, the counsellor must see reflection as a consecutive process of assessing and reassessing relevant events or incidents, and evaluating the outcomes to learn from past experiences. Simply questioning past events and incidents can help counsellors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He hires General Ulysses Grant to be the captain and to recruit his army. Grant has Lee blocked on all three sides, which limits Lee s soldiers to food. Surprisingly, Grant lets ... • 28. Gang Violence During The 19th Century ¨Gang members have been responsible for 61 percent of all homicides [in Chicago] in 2011, up from 58.7 percent in 2010¨ (Hidden America). These are some of the few disturbing statistics about gang violence in Chicago; however, as many people do not know, gangs have not always been about drugs and violence. In the early 19th century, gangs are not what people perceive them to be today. Gangs in the 19th century were volunteers with the fire department back in the Antebellum Period, which is the period before the civil war and after the War of 1812. As time went on and as the professional firemen forced the volunteers to break up, they started spreading apart. Then by the late 19th century, gangs started developing on the south side. This is ... Indentured Servants Research Paper Although many African Americans landed in Virginia in 1619 as slaves, in 1608 most emigrants (who were mainly male) wanted to come to the New World by crossing the Atlantic Ocean so badly that they agreed to become indentured servants. Those who were called Slaves were there to serve for life while those who were called Indentured Servants only served for a certain term. According to American Stories the amount of years that needed to be served depended on the person s age; those who are younger get a longer term, while those who are older, like nineteen, only get about five years. • 30. Essay on War and Bush War and Bush War has taken place all over the world. It is brutal at times even necessary, and the United States of America has seen its own share of wars. Since September 11, 2001, the President of the United States has launched a war on terrorism, and currently we are still at war. The War on Terrorism has been one of the most important battles our country has ever had and overall it has been the best for the U.S. as well as Iraq. The United States does have its motives for the war, and those purposes are what make this country as safe as it is today. California itself is very liberal and that can affect the way the news is run, but the fact is California is not the only location in the U.S. The same news sources that criticized the war are also the same individuals who show negativity on television every single day about such things as the Peterson trial, kidnappings, homicides, car accident fatalities. They show such atrocities of people getting beheaded to get people talking and the more they talk the more people that will watch the news. In the black eyes of the media the more death in war and any other part of the world the better. What the news fails to carry out is to show other sides of their argument. The war in Iraq has drawn a very rough line that the U.S. will not stand for terrorism and will fight to destroy these threats of the world. Destroying terrorism will make many individuals feel safer than they have felt since 9/11. • 31. Luther Standing Bear Analysis My First Buffalo, by Luther Standing Bear, may be one of the more terse stories in the anthology, Native American Autobiography, but it by no means lacks wisdom. When reading the captivating story, I was struck by the amount of life lessons that could be pulled out of one single experience in Luther Standing Bear s childhood. On the surface, My Buffalo seems to be a simple coming of age story, however once properly analyzed, you can find a story that teaches you to listen and respect those wiser than yourself, to honor the art of hunting and to only speak the truth. The first lesson I caught onto fairly quickly was to value and listen to you elders. Before his first Buffalo hunting endeavour, Luther Standing Bear s father gives him some wise words of advice. He stresses the importance of staying observant, saying, Whatever you do, watch the buffalo closely (Krupat 301) and warns Luther Standing Bear to keep his eyes open when he passes through dust. He also urges Luther Standing Bear to hunt with precision and patience. While this advice may seem obvious and easy to follow, Luther Standing Bear has trouble putting such information into action at first. When chasing the buffalo, he gets disoriented in the dust and starts to panic. Luther Standing Bear states, I then realized how helpless I was there in all that dust and confusion. The sound of their hoofs was frightening (Krupat 303). This moment of panic shows how essential Luther Standing Bear s father s advice was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Patrick Gillespie s Let Poetry Die Patrick Gillespie, in his article Let Poetry Die, argues that poetry is dying, and we should let it. He explains that the public lost interest in poetry because modern poets refused to accept their criticism. This caused the quality of poetry to decrease. Gillespie believes that the solution to this problem is to [l]et [p]oetry [d]ie [s]o that it can be reborn (Gillespie 4). Gillespie s first claim in his article is that poetry is being forgotten by the public. He claims that as far as the public is concerned, poetry died with the modernists, for only a few passing pedestrians could name a poet from the last 50 to 60 years (Gillespie 1). He then states that if you [a]sk anyone to name a novelist of the last half century, ... names will come tumbling, but if you [a]sk anyone to name a contemporary poet, ... you will be lucky to scrape by with John Ashbery (Gillespie 1). Rabbit Run by John Updike Essay Rabbit Run by John Updike The world of John Updike s Rabbit, Run is a collection of polarities that dramatizes the in betweeness and the constant state of tension that characterizes humanity. A cursory perusal of John Updike s Rabbit, Run reveals a world of hopeless futility in which Harry Angstrom runs in ever tightening circles. Rabbit is always running, from one woman to another, between Brewer and Mt. Judge, between solitude and society. Rabbit is torn because he has faith in something meaningful in the world, somewhere, but he fails to find it during any of his frequent but brief stops. During our childhood we were told stories of many sorts that directed a message to the reader, such as The Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault. As children, our parents read this short story in order for us to receive the authors message to not talk to strangers or else something bad can happen. Children see tales such as The Little Red Riding Hood very differently than adults do. As adults, they see this young attractive village girl being tricked by the wolf who gathers information he needs to find her grandmother to eat. One of the symbols that periodically pops up in many of the Little Red Riding Hood tales is the red cap that Little Red wears. The cap is given to her by her grandmother, which symbolizes a deeper message in the retellings. The story by Perrault really doesn t symbolize anything, mainly noted that it was given by her grandmother, however, in Angela Carters story it represents the transition to women hood. Carter states, She closed the window on the wolves threnody and took off her scarlet shawl, the color of poppies, the color of sacrifices, the color of her menses, and since her fear did her no good, she ceased to be afraid. What shall I do with my shawl? Throw it on the fire, dear one. You won t need it again (649). Here Little Red Riding Hood burns her shawl, which represent her sexuality. • 38. To His Coy Mistress Analysis Andrew Marvell s To His Coy Mistress, written in the year 1681, gives readers the implication that he was a man with progressive ideas about sex that lack concern for the common ideals and moral standards of his lifetime. Marvell s ideas and phrases in this poem have an honest and realistic basis. He does not sugarcoat what he is trying to say, yet he is able to poetically and coercively make his point known to his potential mate. Opposing styles of appeal in parts one and two blossoms into an eloquently convincing conclusion which will force his potential lover into an urgent battle between her id and her superego. This analysis breaks the poem into thirds, the first of which (part one), the speaker progresses slowly, as romance often does. Although other definitions of the word quaint exist, in this poem, the speaker obviously puts emphasis on the coy aspect of his mistress, so it makes sense that he would (once again) point this out in part three of his poem. Word Count: 248 Extract B2 This biography, Coco Chanel: An Intimate Life, is a secondary source text written by Lisa Chaney. Published in New York in 2011, this work aims to examine Coco Chanel s unconventional journey from poverty to glamour, along which she helped to redefine the idea of the modern European woman. This text is intended for an audience of educated individuals with an interest in Coco Chanel and her legacy. Throughout this biography, Chaney references private letters, personal records, and interviews with Chanel s friends and family to explore the origins of Chanel s revolutionary ideas that influenced the European feminist movement. This source is valuable because it provides an in depth examination of Coco Chanel s life through analysis of new primary source evidence. Additionally, because Chaney is reflecting on Chanel s life and influence in hindsight, she is able to link Chanel s work with the progression of European women s rights throughout the twentieth century, establishing cause and effect relationships. How Roadways and Public transit have impacted the city The top issue in Toronto was the poor performance of public transit such as buses, streetcars, and subway trains. The TTC system is of very bad performance that even many transit systems in third world countries provide users with better experiences than trasit users have in Toronto. The current major problems with TTC are: crowding during rush periods and insufficient ridership to justify reasonable service levels at other times. • 41. A Bar At The Folies Bernre Summary Humanities Mod 2 Benjamin Dyck Rasmussen College Author Note This paper is being submitted to the Humanities course on 12/11/2017. A Bar at the Folies Bergère Artist: Edouard Manet (1832 83). Subject: Suzon, according to the recollections of Manet s friends: a young woman who worked at the Folies Bergère, one of the great Parisian cafés concerts , a kind of beer hall with music, circus acts and other entertainment. Analysis: This painting, which was actually painted when Manet was critically ill, upholds the artist s conflicting outlook. One approach at looking at this painting, shows it features a modern locale in The Folies Bergere the most renowned and modern of Paris s cafe concert halls, which was noted among many other things for its innovative electric lights. In addition, its brushwork is Impressionistic and its framing has been swayed by the new art of photography. And another approach, its meaning is totally opaque, even inexplicable, dealing as it does with a problem that engaged Manet throughout his entire adult life: the relationship, in figurative painting, between realism and illusion. Probably modelled on Las Meninas (1656), the enigmatic Baroque masterpiece by Velazquez, the painting seems to be a straightforward frontal image of a barkeep serving behind her counter, who peers out at us, the viewer/patron. Then we see the giant mirror behind her and the confusing reflections it holds. The woman s reflection has been turned to the right; while in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
