Nuclear, Molecular And Super Molecular Scale
Introduction A battery is an electrical device that contains one or more electrochemical cell that
converts stored chemical energy into electrical energy by using an anode, which is the negative side of
the battery and a cathode, which is the positive side. Combining the anode and cathode with a
chemical substance in the middle will create an electrical current (Google, 2014). Nanotechnology is
the manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular and super molecular scale. Batteries and
nanotechnology are relatable and can work together by creating miniature batteries that are able to
make future fundamental developments in just about every industry such as healthcare, automotive,
science and mainly any mainstream consumable product. History Past One of the first batteries
discovered was called the Parthian battery. In 1936, near Baghdad, railway construction workers came
across an odd shaped clay cased object, which turned out to be the ancient Parthian battery. This
ancient battery is aged at about 2000 years old. The Parthian name came from the people of Baghdad
around 250 BC because they ruled this area at the time. It was said that Parthians may have used
batteries to electroplate silver, this explaining the creation of this ancient battery. The battery was
made of a clay casing on the outside, with an iron rod wrapped in copper inserted into the casing.
Then the clay jar was filled with a vinegar solution which created about 1.1 to 2 volts of electricity,

Abortion Throughout History Essay
Abortion Has No Excuse Abortion has taken the lives of more than 50 million babies since 1973 (
About Abortion ). The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in American
politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy and they
result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth control and
this issue should be taken seriously. The individual woman needs to understand that by agreeing to
have an abortion she is agreeing to kill an innocent fetus. Abortion rips the unborn child from his or
hers right to life. Society needs to let women see through the eyes of the fetus and find alternative
ways to raise the baby. Abortion should be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade a pregnant women, Norma McCorvey (also known as
Jane Roe ) seeked to end her pregnancy. Through the fight of the court, it was declared that most state
anti abortion laws were unconstitutional. However, many rules were set into place. In the first
trimester of pregnancy (0 12 weeks), states could not interfere with any abortion. During the second
semester (13 28 weeks) states could allow a regulated abortion in ways that are related to mental
health or even a proscribed abortion. Within the third trimester (29 40 weeks) a women can only get
an abortion if it is to preserve the health or life of the mother. Alongside Roe v. Wade, in the 1992 case
Planned Parenthood of Southeastern PA v. Casey, the court ruled that a state could require a woman
seeking an abortion to give informed consent and to wait 24 hours and in the case of a minor they
need to obtain parental consent (Ayers). Throughout abortions long history of pro choice and pro life,
modern society needs to be fully educated on the topic so they can see how terrible pro choice is.
Instead of abortion, consider adoption. Nowadays many couples suffer because they want to have kids
but are having trouble trying to conceive. Abortion inflicts suffering on the unborn child because
childhood begins at conception not at birth; therefore, abortion is the killing of an innocent human
being. Instead of

Adam Smith Government
In the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith claims a well governed is a prerequisite for a society to be able
to experience universal opulence wherein even individuals from the lowest socio economic strata are
able to bask in prosperity. However, he goes on to imply that even without government intervention,
the mechanism of the invisible hand would effectively provide for a society. This sets up an immediate
tension as it pertains to the role of a government in managing its economy and social welfare: what
degree of governmental action is optimal? And more importantly, what motivates government policy?
In the realm of international political economy, Smith decries his government for its active role in
colonialism and mercantilism; practices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As per Smith, it was based on the mistaken notion that the wealth of a society was determined by the
amount of gold in its reserves rather than the value of that gold in terms of production and
consumption. By excluding foreign competition, employers were able to enjoy a greater share of the
market (both domestic and foreign) while laborers endured lower wages and the entirety of society
faced a limited choice in terms of produce, all of which cemented the societal status quo and allowed
for power retention. For governments, who mistakenly thought that international trade was a zero sum
game, mercantilist practice enabled them to feel superior to their trading partners. In this light,
although accumulating wealth was the goal for employers and the government it is imperative that the
underlying reason for this desire be realized. Indeed, the desire for wealth was merely need for the
increase and consolidation of the power of each of these entities. For employers mercantilism allowed
them to maintain a competitive advantage, to accumulate capital and importantly, to continue to
employ labor so that they did not have to become laborers. For the government, mercantilism was a
means of promoting prosperity within borders and asserting their authority towards other nations in
order to remain a contending force in the international community. Whether or not mercantilism itself
was a success does not detract from its intention to increase and consolidate power of those who held

The Threat of Catheter-Related Infections
Clinical problem: Catheter related infections pose a detrimental threat to adult patients in intensive
care units with a central line. Effects of an infection include: an increase in the patients length of
hospital stay, morbidity and mortality rates, and hospital readmission rates.
Objective: To determine if the evidence based practice interventions studied and published can help to
decrease the rate of infection occurring in central lines.
Data sources: The search engine that was used to find three randomized controlled trial articles and
support my PICOT question was PubMed. Key terms that were used to search for them included
intensive care unit infections, chlorhexidine dressings, antiseptic solutions, and prevention methods
for catheter related infections. A clinical guideline for the prevention of intravascular catheter related
infection was retrieved from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
Results: The clinical guideline from the AHRQ encouraged interventions like the chlorhexidine
impregnated sponge, antiseptic solution, and other precautious measures in order to reduce catheter
related infections. The research completed by Atahan and colleagues (2012), Timsit and colleagues
(2012), and Timsit and colleagues (2009) concluded that the use of 2% chlorhexidine gel tegaderm
dressing, chlorhexidine impregnated sponge, and the antiseptic solution has significantly helped to
reduce infection rates in catheters.

Parental Loss At A Young Age
Introduction
Parental loss at a young age has been linked to heightened risk of psychological problems in
adulthood, especially depression and lower self confidence (Mack, 2001; Mireault Bond, 1992; Saler
Skolnick, 1992*) It has also been linked to several different health conditions including chronic pain,
hypertension, heart disease, and immune disorders (Luekin Lemery, 2004; McEwen Seeman, 2006).
The way a child grieves over a lost parent shapes the way that information is interpreted and stored in
the brain as well (Lupien, Ouellet Morin, Hupbach, Tu, Buss, Walker, et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002)
and it can influence whether or not life events are defined as stressful (Lupien et al., 2006). Studies
conducted concerning childhood bereavement suggest that early parental loss can lead to the
development of poorly regulated neuro emotional response systems (Brotman, Gouley, Klein,
Castellanos Pine, 2003) and the alteration of brain structures that help with memory and cognitive
functioning (Lupien et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002). Because of the impact of the loss, often times,
children need help to recover from the loss of their parent. There have been several studies conducted
on effective interventions and strategies when it comes to helping a child grieve and recover from the
loss of their loved one.
Stages of Grief and the Grieving Process
Grieving children commonly pass through five different stages of grief, although they do not follow a
particular pattern

Resting Metabolic Rate Progressive Submaximal Exercise Test
Mike Haischer Introduction
In these experiments we talked about the Resting Metabolic Rate and Progressive Submaximal
Exercise Testing to determine a subjects carbon dioxide production to oxygen consumption. This was
done by having examples provided for us to calculate the RMR by using a formula, (X ml/kg/min x
weight in kg) / 1000 mL= # L/min, to determine the number of calories burned at rest, as well having
subjects perform the standardized treadmill test for 12 15 minutes for the Progressive Submaximal
Exercise Testing.
Resting Metabolic Rate is the energy expenditure at rest in well rested, fasted state in a supine
position. For an accurate reading of RMR, one should not eat or drink within 6 hours before testing,
refrain from any physical activity 12 hours prior, and no caffeine/tobacco/medication consumption
beforehand. The purpose of finding RMR is to find the number of kilocalories that are required each
day. RMR can be depend on factors such as body composition, genetics, gender, and age.
A Progressive Submaximal Exercise Test is a test that estimates VO2 max, oxygen consumption, and
is performed by gradually increasing the intensity of exercise. This test helps predict the maximal
aerobic capacity of an individual as well as measuring the heart rate and VO2 max. While

Green Light Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Baz Luhrmann portrays many symbols in the film, The Great to show the motivation and fate of Jay
Gatsby. The text itself is constructed using many symbols, which are incorporated to highlight
different elements of the film s message. The three major symbols in the film are the Green Light, the
Eyes from the Valley of Ashes and finally the Parties, which Gatsby frequently hosts.
Probably the most noticeable symbol in the film is the green light, which is situated at the end of
Daisy s dock but barely visible from Gatsby s dock. Gatsby is often depicted gazing into the distance
at the green light. Luhrmann positions Gatsby in this way because the green light represents hope and
his dreams for the future. Therefore it is evident that Gatsby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It eluded us then, but that s no matter, tomorrow we will run farther, stretch out our arms farther....
However the green light represents Gatsby s dream of Daisy and how they would live as they had
planned in the past. But Gatsby does not consider tomorrow because he is determined to live in the
past, which is not what Daisy wants within the social context of their relationship it is clear that the
green light on a broader scale represents society s near impossible desire to achieve the insatiable goal
of the American Dream.
Another symbol that features regularly throughout the film is the large eyes painted on the old
advertising billboard overlooking the Valley of Ashes. These are the eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg. The
eyes may represent God or another higher being looking down upon America judging the society for
the loss of spiritual values that it has attained. An example of the loss of spiritual values is in the
character of Tom Buchanan as he is constantly committing adultery and discriminating against people
on their heritage and ancestral background. Jay Gatsby is also an example of the decay in morality as
he deals in illegal activities such as selling alcohol to fuel his

SECTION ONE: Indigenous Mesoamerica
b. To what extent has the history of Mesoamerica been taught from a Eurocentric perspective? What
theories, ideas, and/or terminology are problematic when trying to assert an Indigenous perspective?
(For example: Bering Strait, Malintzin, Cuauhtemoc, Human Sacrifice...there are many more
examples!)
In the United States the history of Mesoamerica has always been included in textbooks and lectures
around the nation. The parts of the history that are included, however, are what is often put into
question. While writing any piece or publishing any book there will always be a set bias. There is only

As David Carrasco includes in his text in Religions of Mesoamerica , All the days of my life I have
seen nothing that rejoiced my heart so much as these things, for I saw amongst them wonderful works
of art, and I marveled at the subtle genius of men in foreign lands. Indeed I cannot express all that I
thought there (Carrasco 75). While this is just one documented account there are countless others
expressing the same views. While the popular narrative does mention the wonders of indigenous
architecture they fail to focus on the other parts of the statements in these accounts. The Spanish did
not only marvel at the artwork and architecture, but also the culture, the lifestyle, just the subtleties of
the way they carried on in everyday life. Whether it was the Calpulli system or just the organized
manner they went about their day. This fact is often conveniently dismissed by Colón apologists trying
to justify the Spanish conquest by claiming the indigenous people were uncivilized. As mentioned,
those quick to defend the Eurocentric narrative as well as Columbus often attempt to validate
Columbus thinking. As stated by Acuña, apologists of Columbus assert that he did not invent slavery,
and that Spain held heated deliberations on whether or not it was moral to enslave these Indians. Spain
finally settled on passing the Law of Burgos in 1512. On paper the law was supposed to protect the
indigenous people from unbearable labor conditions while

Effects of Absent Fathers on Daughters Relationship...
According to the US Census Bureau, 36.3% of children are living absent of their biological fathers.
Beginning in 1960 with 8% of children living without their biological father, that percentage has
continued to increase. The issue of absent fathers has raised many questions as to what effects this has
on individuals and society. Absent fathers (a term that can consist of many different things) can have a
profound effect on the development of their daughter s relationships, especially when it comes to their
relationships with other men. While the research on this topic may be lacking, what is out there is
clear that fathers do play an important role in their development. Women can face things such as
becoming sexually promiscuous, low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general girls who grow up without fathers are more likely to experience problems with relationships
than girls who grow up with a father. Adolescent girls raised in fatherless households are far more
likely to engage in promiscuous sexual activity before marriage, to cohabit, to get pregnant out of
wedlock and to have an abortion (Krohn Bogan, 599). The father is helpful in developing a daughter s
femininity and in their sexual development (Williamson, 208). Women who had absent fathers
growing up tend to have idealized relationships with men, as a hope to get their lost father back, but
then comes to the realization that the relationship is flawed and end up disappointed, only to start the
cycle over again (Gill, 225). In some interesting statistics, 60% of strippers come from an absent
father (Adams, Milner, Schrepf, 171). Females in single parent homes as opposed to intact ones are
53% more likely to marry as teenagers, 111% more likely to have children as teenagers and 92% more
likely to divorce if they marry (Krohn Bogan, 599). The mother is not completely left out of this
scenario though. When there is an absent father, the response of the mother is an important one in
helping the child cope more easily. With divorce or abandonment, how the mother deals with the loss
of her significant other greatly affects the child. If a mother degrades the father, the child is more
likely to have a negative idea of her father. In contrast, daughters who

Authorship Of Shakespeare
Scholars and experts on literature raise the question of whether or not a commoner like William
Shakespeare really did write all the works credited to his name. The Shakespeare authorship question
has been a controversial topic since the 19th century. Numerous scholars have used literary analysis
techniques and collected data in an attempt to discover the true author of the works credited to
Shakespeare. The fact that there is still continuous work by experts on both sides of the argument
establishes the sincerity of this question and the determination of researchers to find concrete
evidence. Credible research by scholars prove the impossibility that anyone else wrote Shakespeare s
work, negating any Anti Stratfordian argument. Research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Shakespeare Authorship Question , the authors compared works written by Shakespeare to
pieces by other writers of the time period. On the statistical side, the correspondence of word lengths
between Shakespeare and these other authors was significantly different. The researchers found that
Shakespeare was one of the few authors that used more 4 letter words than any other size (2)
contrasting to the higher use of 3 letter words with both Marlowe and Bacon. For Edward de Vere, the
word length analysis showed a slightly higher correspondence; however, the character distribution
between the two writers did not match. For de Vere, the researchers analyzed 600 lines of poetry,
while with Shakespeare they analyzed 9000 lines of prose from his plays. This unequal comparison
shows that not only did the authors have different styles, but they also wrote different genres making it
unlikely that they were the same person. Other scholars come up with a different reason why there
could be some correspondence between writers. Carol Rutter presents the idea that Shakespeare
collaborated not with another playwright, but with the actors (3) whose voices may have been
influenced by that of another playwright of the time. The actors most likely heard or read the plays
and writings of other authors such as Bacon, Marlowe, and de Vere, which may have influenced their
voices. Not only that, but the other possible authors also wrote their own plays and works. It would
have been very difficult for these authors to have written their own works along with all of
Shakespeare s. Careful analysis of texts and pieces written by other writers conclude that these other
authors could not have been

ONCE BEAUTIFUL RIVER GONE TO THE FISHES?
If I said green, grimy and Adelaide, your mind would instantly race to the contaminated River Torrens.
The River Torrens makes up a 85km stretch of the Murray Darling Basin and is vital to the water
security of Australia. But, yet it used to flow on a seasonal basis through and would have been used
for leisure activities, such as swimming. If you looked at the River Torrens now you could never tell
that s what it was used for, and instead, you can see the unsightly weir restricting water flow and the
murky brown green water plagued with environmental issues.
Two of these such issues are algal blooms, caused by various cyanobacteria, and the introduction of
carp into ecosystems. The effects of carp ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aeration pumps have successfully been used in many rivers and dams to lower algal blooms, they
work by reducing nutrient load in the water column and mixing algae deeper into the water so that
they are deprived of light, other methods such as algaecides are also used as these are toxic to the
algae or cyanobacteria, but using algaecides can come with great risks and may cause more problems.
As a part of a redevelopment plan, the city of Adelaide has been looking at potential ways to remove
the algae and rubbish in the river, the plan is to lower the weir so that there is a flow of water. This
means that nutrients will be moving through and not concentrated in a singular spot, reducing the
likeliness of algal blooms. At the moment the most that are being done on carp is a ban on releasing
them back in the waterway, however, many people are working on an alternative. One of these
alternatives is the release of a carp herpesvirus this acts as a biological agent introduced to the
waterway, wiping out large majorities of carp in one swift go. However, there are issues with this once
in the waterway it cannot be removed and carp may develop resistance and there would have to be a
massive clean up undertaken to remove all the dead

Annotated Bibliography On Non Relational Databases Essay
Abstract With companies such as Facebook and Google producing large volumes of data, known as
Big Data, the popularity of NoSQL databases has risen in the past decade as traditional relational
databases cannot handle the vast amount of data as it was not designed to effectively manage such a
large data collection. The following research paper gives an introduction to non relational databases
otherwise known as NoSQL. It defines what a NoSQL database is, the origins of its existence and the
various types of NoSQL databases. It goes on to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of non
relational databases and the reason companies in the past decade are selecting to implement these
databases over traditional relational databases.

INTRODUCTION Though non relational databases have been around since the 1960s, many
companies have used relational databases to store data[2] but over the past decade with companies
generating vast amounts of data, relational databases are unable to effectively manage these large data
collections[1]. An ever increasing amount of companies is now, however, turning to non relational
databases known as NoSQL databases as they are more effective at handling these large amounts of
data thus the reason we have seen an increase in its popularity over the past decade[2]. The term

The First Ten Days Of College Essay
The first ten days of college are some other experience. When I arrived on campus for the Eagle
Incentive Program it was in the high nighties with some humidity. Moving in wasn t that bad, it was
just extremely hot. I was breaking a sweat walking up and down the Southern Pines stairs. The next
day was time to say goodbye to my family. After giving my mom a big warm hug and a kiss goodbye,
seeing them leave was a weird feeling. As I walked up the stairs to head back in my room the feeling
really crossed my mind that I wasn t going to see her again for another five weeks. It was an emotional
few seconds saying goodbye, but I knew my mom was proud of my accomplishments that I achieved.
Motived to work hard and make her even more of a proud mother; my sad emotions soon turned into
happy thoughts.
Well, it was not long before my mom was disappointed in me. My first week here I actually got
myself in debt and my parents were furious at me. They told me in a serious tone that if that ever
happens again, I will have to make myself money. Money management has already gotten me by the
tail. Back at home, I could spend money here and there because I had a job and was getting paid
weekly. Unemployed now because of moving to Statesboro, I only get 35$ put on my debit card a

There are many things that shaped the experience of enslaved people. One of the main forces that
caused slavery to be so common was the simple fact that there were no laws to control or prohibit
slavery. For many farms and industries, having slaves was very profitable because once the farm or
company was done with the slave, they could resell them. It is also the simple fact that slaves were
free labor. Bacon s Rebellion in 1676 also changed the lives of many enslaved people. Bacon had
promised freedom to anyone who joined his army. However, this promise was short lived. In ore to
avoid anymore outbursts or rebellions of the former slaves, the Virginia authorities pushed the slaves

Forces Between Nationalism and Sectionalism in the 19th...
What events or trends contributed to the relationship between the forces of Nationalism and

During the course of American History, and especially after the War for Independence, Nationalism
and Sectionalism contributed and interacted with each other to shape the development of the United
States of America. These two ideologies are the inverse of one another. When sectionalism is strong,
nationalism is weak. When Nationalism is strong, sectionalism is weak. While sectionalism and
nationalism work off of each other, nationalism has always prevailed over sectionalism in history. The

The new inventions allowed for the belief of Manifest Destiny to fill the heads of Americans. Manifest
Destiny was a phrase used by leaders and politicians in the 1840s to explain continental expansion by
the United States that revitalized a sense of mission or national destiny for Americans. (PBS
Organization n.d.) This idea established a great deal of Nationalism within the Americans. It created
the feeling that, together, Americans would expand and build up America out West.
Nationalism was strengthened greatly through economic improvements, and it could have also been
seen through some major political endeavors. The ratification of the constitution is one of the earliest
American events that established nationalism. The ratification showed that, through compromise,
Americans could agree on one basic set of rules and regulations for the unity of the country. The
American System, seen later in history, was also important to the force of nationalism in the country.
Henry Clay s American System, devised in the burst of nationalism that followed the War of 1812,
remains one of the most historically significant examples of a government sponsored program to
harmonize and balance the nation s agriculture, commerce, and industry. This System consisted of

When Ellis said this, Gloria pulled out a cigarette which to me says that his words are getting to her

According to sec. 137 (1) of the Courts of Justice Act (CJA), on payment of the prescribed fee, a
person is entitled to see any document filed in a civil proceeding in a court, unless a statute or an order
of the court provides otherwise, e.g. in case of confidential information.
In addition to that, on payment of the prescribed fee, a person is entitled to see any list maintained by
a court of civil proceedings of actions commenced or judgments entered (sec. 137 (3) CJA).
Apart from that there is no civil litigation record in relation to a person that you can request from a

to whether a person is or was involved in a lawsuit from every single courthouse in Ontario. There is
no established way to handle such a request. Every courthouse will handle this request the way it
considers appropriate, as there is no standard for that. This means, that a courthouse will probably
refuse to certify that kind of information and might only provide informal reference on ongoing or
past lawsuits, as the risk of mistaken identities is too high. In Canada a person can sue another

In the 90 s, a widely popular youth television show was Boy Meets World, which was greatly
acclaimed for its cultural impact. The show was a simple sitcom about a young boy going through life
with his troublesome best friend. Despite the initial simplicity, the show was popular due to its
controversial topics such as child abuse, sexual harassment, religion, and interracial dating.
Notwithstanding the high popularity, the show did end but managed to gain a spin off years later. The

In the original Grimm s tale, Snow White s ignorance almost kills her three times, and in the end the
Queen is forced to wear red hot iron shoes and dance until she dies. The concept of true love s kiss is
also nonexistent within the original tale. Many find the Grimm s fairy tales dark, yet Donald
Barthelme s modern retelling of the classic Snow White is so extreme to the point it emphasizes the
flaws of society s view of Disney s Snow White; John Pizer, who wrote the article The
Disenchantment of Snow White states that rather a satirical piece, Barthelme s Snow White can even
be labelled as an anti fairy tale. Though Barthelme introduces his Snow White similarly to the classic
tale in which he states hair is black as ebony, the skin white as snow, the very first description of her
immediately disconnects Disney s Snow White from Barthelme s. Barthelme first introduces Snow
White with having many beauty spots, which is already a severance since Snow White has always
been considered flawless inside and outside. Barthelme s placement of the beauty spots mirrors the
flaws his character has in regards to the usual associated characteristics. For example, Snow White
does not embody chastity within Barthelme s novel whatsoever; rather, she is described as having

The Importance Of Inclusivity In The Digital Age
In the digital age, it is important for us as the perpetrators of technology into the modern era to be
cognizant of what it is that we create and display for humanity s benefit in a technological sense.
Areas such as gender, sexuality, class, ethnicity and culture in particular should be addressed with
inclusivity as opposed to the unfortunately common exclusivity within this digitality of course, such
subjects should be addressed with a progressive awareness in all areas; however, it is in the rapidly
evolving environment of technology since the start of the information age that these issues need to be
approached in an especially conscious setting. In a more specific sense: gender, sexuality, class,
ethnicity and culture ought to progress as rapidly as our technology does. Technology today does
attempt to address the concerns of these certain communities; however, there is always room for a
more inclusive internet society.
Take, for example, Youtube s most recent censorship of LGBTQ+ content: as has been a particularly
controversial subject of debate, recent Youtube videos containing material considered inappropriate
can be filtered out through a toggleable Restricted Mode, which is a tool that allows users to designate
the content that they want to view in their feed. For more ample definition, Youtube Help states that,
Restricted Mode is an optional setting that you can use to help screen out potentially mature content

U.s Russian Conflict Between Ukraine And Russia
Us Response to Ukraine and Russian Conflict
It has been argued that the Ukraine conflict can be attributed almost completely on Russian hostility. It
is argued that, the Russian president Putin, assaulted Crimea because of the long desire to protect the
soviet terrain, and from the prevailing situation, he may possibly pursue the entire Ukraine, as well as
other nations in Eastern Europe. In this perception the dismissal of Ukraine president Viktor simply
provided an excuse for Putin`s decision to order Russian militaries to take hold of part of Ukraine
(Baker, et al 2014, p.1). The United States takes a big responsibility in this conflict despite the idea
that it is anticipated to answer back to the skirmish between Ukraine and Russia. ... Show more

The struggle between the EU and Russia over Ukraine play an imperative part in the current conflict
of Russia and Ukraine. On the other hand, concerning the free trade pact, Kiev initiated discussions
for an entire unlimited trade pact with the European Union after it had converted an associate of the
world trade organization. The agreement involved products, acquisition of administration, energy
issues, and protocols. Statistics demonstrates that Ukraine and European Union are great partners,
with exports to the European Union adding up to over nineteen billion dollars and importation from
European Union of approximately thirty billion dollars (Simes 2014, p.5). Studies affirm that, Ukraine

The Importance Of Industrialization
The early 19th century was a time of technological innovations that took the United States to a new
level of commerce. During this time, the cotton gin, steamboats, power looms, and even the telegraph
were invented (Swen). As these inventions continued to improve the way of life, the nation continued
to spread northeast and west to discover new land. Where a stagecoach may have taken months to
transport goods from east to west, the railroad could transport the merchandise cross country in just a
few days. Lastly, communication through the telegraph simplified the need for the pony express.
Although these inventions changed how these people lived their life, was it all for the best? Were

Now instead of controlling their own future, the nation will become dependent on other people to
succeed in life. Factories did not just hire the man of the family, it hired the whole family. Children
worked in the factories as young as the age of seven which is when Sam Patch first started at Samuel
Slaters White Mill (Johnson p 30). Since the children were small they could get under the machinery
and keep things clear so the machines would continue to run. Some factories primarily hired young
women to operate their facility. As stated in Morals of Manufactures (1837), young women would
leave their families to live in boarding houses owned by the factories (Martineau). This concept was to
protect the women from the evils of the world. They were required to work fourteen hours a day with
thirty minutes for eating twice a day. If that was not bad enough, many slept five people to a room.
Lack of space and privacy prevented them from wondering about life outside the factory. Harriet
Martineau was very concerned with the life these women were being forced to live and the freedoms
they were not allowed to have such as participating in dances. She felt they were no better off than
slaves based on their living and working conditions. If that was not enough, some of the factory
owners tried to extend the work day while governing meal times. This created family conflict because
not all factories were on the same schedule.

Kehinde Wiley s Napoleon Leading the Army over the Alps , is an oil painting on a canvas. The
painting is of a black man with his face toward us riding on a horse across stones that are all different
sizes. The stones have words on them and look like it was flat ground before but something like an
earthquake shifted the ground. In the background behind the man and the horse is a red curtain with a
tan design all over it. The man on the horse is also wearing a green camouflage looking outfit with
yellow boots and a yellowish gold cape, and he has a white bandana on his head. The horse that the
man is riding on is white with a black spot in between the front legs on his chest and black around his
eyes. The horse also is in a rearing position with the man holding his right arm out pointing to the top
of the painting and his left arm holding onto the reins. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of this artwork, as stated on the Brooklyn Museum website, is that Wiley presents a new
brand of portraiture that redefines and affirms Black identity and simultaneously questions the history
of Western painting. These ideas are communicated in the painting because unlike the original
painting, Bonaparte Crossing the Alps at Grand Saint Bernard, the character in the painting is a black
male, which is indicating that he has power and a higher status that black people did not have. Being a
black male himself, Wiley was inspired to do this piece to show that black people are just as equal as
white. The teaching resource from Brooklyn Museum explains how Wiley was brought up in an urban
area when black people were not seen as equal to white people, and they faced many challenges
because of this. As mentioned in NY Times article A Sprawling Retrospective for Kehinde Wiley s
Heroic Portraits , most of Wiley s artwork represents problems with identity and culture, and also

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn Research Paper
The life of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is marked by his remarkable refusal to abandon that which he
loved and believed in, even under the iron grip of oppression. Born in 1918, the Russian spent the
majority of his early life in the city of Rostov on Don where he lived with his widowed mother. As a
young man, Aleksandr developed a passion for writing, and began looking for places to print his
works when he was only a teenager. This proved to be more than just a vaporous fantasy of his
adolescence; Solzhenitsyn s strong desire to write motivated and inspired him throughout his entire
life. In 1941, Solzhenitsyn was drafted to fight in World War II, where he was utilized for his
mathematical aptitude in the artillery department. He amazingly survived three years of working and
fighting on the front lines; yet in the year of 1945, Solzhenitsyn wrote a series of letters that would
change the course of his entire life. These letters were addressed to one of his old friends from the
local university that they both attended in Rostov. In these writings, the 27 year old soldier used code
names to express his discontent with Joseph Stalin s management of the war. The Russian authorities
eventually discovered these conversations, and arrested Solzhenitsyn for his disrespectful comments.

Adapted Crisis Response Plan For Hilo Intermediate School
Adapted Crisis Response Plan Based on the presented information, the following adapted crisis
intervention protocols and plan are suggested for Hilo Intermediate School, and could also be
implemented in other schools within the district with adaptation as needed for each individual school s
unique needs. Additionally, it should be noted that while these steps are presented in a step format,
steps can be skipped or repeated as needed to assist in responding to varying crises, emergencies, and
disasters. First, a comprehensive school counseling program would be implemented that provided
preventative as well as intervention strategies that could help to prevent a crisis or intervene before a
crisis occurred (ASCA, 2012). The school counselor would provide classroom guidance lessons to
reach all students that would promote areas such as self esteem, and coping strategies. Further, the
counselor would provide professional development for teachers to look for warning signs such as
aggressive behavior and withdrawal, and refer them for individual or group counseling. During a
crisis, the first school personnel on the scene or with the person in crisis would assess and take control
of the situation until an administrator or other designee arrived. This would help with providing
students and others with clear directions and next step to take, thus alleviating anxiety. Next, the
person would address life safety, and call 911 or designate someone to call 911 (SHDOE, 2009). This

How Does Leydig Cells Affect The Synthesis Of Testicular...
Successful testicular function depends on the hypothalamus discharge of GNRH, which in turn

The scale of the testicles is well correlated to the synthesis functionality of the sperm and further
gonadal sperm reserves [Parkinson et al., 2004]. The scrotal circumference is the best and the most

between the steroid and spermatogenic production. Our research finding shows that the vaccine has a

Parallelism In Grapes Of Wrath

Renewal in The Grapes of Wrath
John Steinbeck usually uses California and the Salinas valley as his setting and is usually placed in the
30s when the great depression occurred. The Grapes of Wrath is about a family living in Oklahoma
and they are farmers during the period called the dustbowl in which culture was rough because there
were droughts and conditions were not suitable for farming. This family, because they are not doing
too well, decide to move to California to find jobs and dignity. The author writes about the struggle of
a family during and Great Depression and also the struggle of each individual as their lives are being
torn apart. He not only shows how they go through these hardships, but also how they will overcome
them. In John Steinbeck s novel, The Grapes of Wrath, he argues that all who follow the ways of the
Bible will become renewed at the end. He uses religion and parallelism in order to bring to light, the
chance of hope that is evident within dire circumstances, and project changes within people during
turmoil.
The Grapes of Wrath incorporates parallels between both the Old Testament and the New Testament.
Steinbeck uses biblical symbols from the book Exodus to tell the story of the Joad family s journey to
California. The Dust Bowl, which is the reason they are leaving Oklahoma, is a representation of the
plague. Another symbol used in this novel is Noah s Ark. This represents the truck they used

The Construction Of Occupational Specialty Codes Essay
On September 29, 2016, the U. S. Navy announced that it would modernize the enlisted ratings of the
Navy. The plan includes the installation of occupational specialty codes. These codes are similar to
those used in the other services. The plan also called for sailors to be referred to by only their rank,
such as Petty Officer First Class. The modernization of the enlisted rating system has caused morale
issues in the fleet, makes job field detailing better, and aligns with the other branches. First, there will
be morale problems in the fleet with the modernization plan. The plan discarded a tradition that goes
back two hundred years to the beginning of the Navy. Rates such as Boatswain s Mate, Gunner s Mate
and Quartermaster have been in use since the start of the Navy (Broderick). They were carried over
from the British Navy which was the used to create the U. S. Navy. Dickstein quoted a sailor saying
about the plan that, It seemed to come out of nowhere without much notice, so a lot of people were
surprised it happened (Dickstein, 2016). Sailors are very protective of their rates, and many have
conveyed anger and confusion with the plan. According to Church, a seaman stated that When you re

Essay The Iron Triangle and Heclo s Policy of Issue Networks
Heclo s policy of issue networks is a new way of dealing with the connection between politics and its
administration. Previously, the Iron Triangle was the way that the connection was dealt with. The Iron
Triangle concept described the major players as congress, career bureaucrats and large interest groups.
It was said that the groups had a give and take kind of relationship and eventually led to a reasonably
easy way to create policy while somewhat satisfying each of the groups. Basically, the Congress
passes laws, Bureaucrats implement the laws and the interest groups support the congress. However
Heclo describes the new way of doing business in Washington. Heclo does not say the Iron Triangle

Heclo describes these groups as varied and operating on many different levels. We may have a small
group that is very vocal and show up at meetings but do not reflect the majority of people. We may
have a professor or expert who is called by legislators for advice or to clarify some part of policy.
Also, people are more involved and well read on issues and understand the issues more completely.
There are a few problems with this way of doing things and we can look at the Reinventing School
Lunch policy to see how this system can be effective and also cause some delays and problems. The
original goal of the food lunch program was to feed malnourished school children and to help farmers
by buying up some of their extra crops and commodities. This program worked well for 50 years and
was a popular and accepted program. In the 1990 s the program was looked at and it was determined
to look at and reinvent the school lunch program. There were many players in this reinvention and we
have Helen Haas who is the head of the food and nutrition services. She is the lady who develops a

school food workers, parent and teacher groups, the farmers, dietary advocacy groups, the dairy

2.5 Privatization and Healthcare in America
The healthcare system in America is very involved. The administration of President Clinton dedicated
two years focusing on the development of a system of healthcare for every American. The
administration was incapable of reaching a consensus that met the needs of the wide consortium of
healthcare stakeholders and issues involved in health. In the present healthcare political environment,

Similarities And Differences Between Ancient Greens And...
In comparing and contrasting the societies of Periclean Athens and ancient Egypt, we must first
mention some of the characteristics of an actual society: a society has social levels and classes, a
governmental system, and a developed culture. Both of these societies fit into these parameters. In this
essay we will explore social classes, gender relations, social inequality, and hierarchy as they apply to
these societies. Both ancient Athens and Egypt adhered to a strict hierarchical framework, ranking
people as superiors or inferiors. Old Kingdom Egyptian hierarchy is described as having the king and
queen at the top, with priests, administrators, governors and army commanders coming second, then
the commoners who worked mostly in agriculture, and finally, slaves, who had been captured in war.
(Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh
came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief
advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, and made local laws. Priests followed, and were
responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were
the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage of boys
from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five. Soldiers came next,
and were responsible for the defense of the country. Craftsmen were workers who were

Selfishness In Kate Chopin s A Pair Of Silk Stockings
Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. This
quote by Oscar Wilde is relative to the actions of Mrs.Sommers, considering her children and the state
in which her family lives in. In A Pair of Silk Stockings, by Kate Chopin, a mother of at least four
children temporarily escapes the hardships of motherhood for a day and enjoys long missed
extravagance. She was formerly a woman of luxury, and when she acquires a large amount of money,
she decides to rediscover the world of riches. Her actions are selfish in doing so, because her family is
not in a stable condition, she is a mother of several children, and she does not deserve this opulent
treatment. Mrs.Sommers s family is not

How Native Americans Handle Symptoms of Illness
Everyone gets sick and throughout generations they find ways to handle the symptoms. The ways that
people define and decide to treat their illnesses depend on their culture. The Native Americans have
developed their own ways to handle their illnesses. Their techniques should be incorporated more into
modern medicine; this would improve the way modern medicine is practiced. The Native American s
believe that they are spiritually and physically connected to nature (Schwing, 2008). This is the way
that Lori was raised on the reservation. She had attended ceremonies with her father as she was
growing up (Alvord, 2000). Everyone should try to understand the Native American view, and try to
adopt at least part of it. Weather someone wants to look at it from a spiritual way or a biological way
the earth is interconnected with the people and the animals living on it. We are seeing more species of
animals and plants being extinct, and it seems that most people do not care or just done realize that
this is happening. Not only are we losing out on specific species themselves but also by how it will
disrupt the balance of nature. Native Americans believe that people can get ill from an imbalanced life
or diseases (Schwing, 2008). Lori had seen this many times with her patients in the hospital. When the
people in the operating room were not balance with themselves and each other Lori noticed that the
patients had rougher recoveries. Once she started to notice this she

Abstract
Polarization of the two major American polities parties in the past few decades has high lighted a shift
in political attitudes that is mediated by increased social identification. While the role of genetics is a
constant, agents of socialization influence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although party identification is often thought to be a function of affective attachment to a party, it is
also a function of social identification with the party. Moreover, it is likely that affective attachment to
a party acts as a source or a byproduct for social identification, or some combination of the two.
Shared social identity provides pre dictability with a low cost for information cues (Greene, 1999). As
suggested by Greene, intergroup relationships take precedence over intellectual concerns in the
formation of politi cal attitudes and party affiliation. Thus, political identities are more likely to
produce parti san polarization, rather than specific ideologies or policies.
Social identity theory allows us to examine the motivational and cognitive basis for the consistent
bipolar perceptual and attitudinal patterns in politics (Greene, 2000). In sup port of social identity
theory, Greene found that people tended to think and feel more favor ably about the party they
identified with and more negatively about the opposing party. Hence, social identification with a party
significantly predicts cognitive and affective atti tudes toward political parties. Furthermore, social
identity significantly predicts party sup port and involvement over

In-Yer-Face Theatre Scene Analysis
It offends today, but we look harder and we know, it will not offend tomorrow.
Having commented upon how the In Yer Face term came to be and how the phrase changed over time,
it will be mentioned at this point how this theatre scene developed its place since it was first
recognized by the public.
In yer face theatre always shocks audiences by its language and images; unsettles them by its
emotional frankness and disturbs them by its questioning of moral norms. Most in yer face plays are
not interested in showing events in a detached way and allowing audiences to speculate about them;
instead, they are experiential they want audiences to feel the extreme emotions that are being shown
on stage.
Although the rise of in yer face theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hot theatre is usually the smaller performance with more limited audience. It uses more open
aggression with the aim to make the experience unforgettable using the aesthetics of extremism. The
cool theatre on the other hand, uses aggressive and extreme emotions but it is eased up with a clever
combination of distancing devices. These devices can be larger audiences or the use of more
traditional structures, although the comedy is considered as the most effective distancing device. It can
sometimes defuse an emotionally fraught situation. After all, a common reaction to terror is either to
ignore it or to laugh at

Reflection For My Citizenship Project
Reflection
For my citizenship project, I chose to volunteer at the Daniel Stowe Botanical garden. My goal was to
obtain 15 hours of community service by volunteering for educational assistant, horticulture crew, and
at the holiday at the garden events. To reach my goal, I had to figure out two major problems. When to
volunteer and my transportation. In order to make my project possible, I had to work with my parents.
By looking at an online calendar, we were able to schedule when I can volunteer and my event. We
decided that I could volunteer in the morning during winter break, and my parents would drop and
pick me up. Before my first day volunteering, i felt more nervous than excited. I was completely
clueless and worried that I wouldn t be able to do my job properly. I was afraid that I might become
loss, or that I might have signed up incorrectly. Most of all, I was afraid that I ll would embarrass
myself. What made it vene more nerve wrecking was that I had no friends or family to volunteer with
me, so I was hesitant with working with a stranger much older than me. Despite my worries, I was
excited to see the garden. I wanted to compare the botanical garden in Las Vegas to the one I am
currently volunteering at. I was especially enthusiastic about the arts and crafts I will be creating on
my first day.
I volunteered a total of __ days, each day brought a new experience and improved my communication
skills. I started off volunteering at the fairy fest. It was a

United States Involvement In Vietnam
During the war people could see a possible communist victory. So, the US decided to get involved.
Before they were fulling engaged, some US troops were serving as advisers and were sending
equipment to South Vietnam. I believe the United States involvement wasn t justified for many
reasons.
In 1964, the United States congress allowed the US to enter into the war in Vietnam. By 1965 more
than 180,000 US troops were in fighting and planes began to bomb North Vietnam. We had the most
advanced army in the world. We had multiple strategies. We began fighting guerrilla warfare in the
unfamiliar terrain. Then later, the US turned to air power when the nations couldn t defend themselves
on the ground any longer. We began bombing farmlands, forests,

  • 2. Nuclear, Molecular And Super Molecular Scale Introduction A battery is an electrical device that contains one or more electrochemical cell that converts stored chemical energy into electrical energy by using an anode, which is the negative side of the battery and a cathode, which is the positive side. Combining the anode and cathode with a chemical substance in the middle will create an electrical current (Google, 2014). Nanotechnology is the manipulation of matter on an atomic, molecular and super molecular scale. Batteries and nanotechnology are relatable and can work together by creating miniature batteries that are able to make future fundamental developments in just about every industry such as healthcare, automotive, science and mainly any mainstream consumable product. History Past One of the first batteries discovered was called the Parthian battery. In 1936, near Baghdad, railway construction workers came across an odd shaped clay cased object, which turned out to be the ancient Parthian battery. This ancient battery is aged at about 2000 years old. The Parthian name came from the people of Baghdad around 250 BC because they ruled this area at the time. It was said that Parthians may have used batteries to electroplate silver, this explaining the creation of this ancient battery. The battery was made of a clay casing on the outside, with an iron rod wrapped in copper inserted into the casing. Then the clay jar was filled with a vinegar solution which created about 1.1 to 2 volts of electricity, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in American politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy and they result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth control and this issue should be taken seriously. In the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade a pregnant women, Norma McCorvey (also known as Jane Roe ) seeked to end her pregnancy. Through the fight of the court, it was declared that most state anti abortion laws were unconstitutional. However, many rules were set into place. In the first trimester of pregnancy (0 12 weeks), states could not interfere with any abortion. During the second semester (13 28 weeks) states could allow a regulated abortion in ways that are related to mental health or even a proscribed abortion. Within the third trimester (29 40 weeks) a women can only get an abortion if it is to preserve the health or life of the mother. Alongside Roe v. Wade, in the 1992 case Planned Parenthood of Southeastern PA v. Casey, the court ruled that a state could require a woman seeking an abortion to give informed consent and to wait 24 hours and in the case of a minor they need to obtain parental consent (Ayers). Throughout abortions long history of pro choice and pro life, modern society needs to be fully educated on the topic so they can see how terrible pro choice is. Instead of abortion, consider adoption. Nowadays many couples suffer because they want to have kids but are having trouble trying to conceive. • 4. Adam Smith Government In the Wealth of Nations, Adam Smith claims a well governed is a prerequisite for a society to be able to experience universal opulence wherein even individuals from the lowest socio economic strata are able to bask in prosperity. However, he goes on to imply that even without government intervention, the mechanism of the invisible hand would effectively provide for a society. This sets up an immediate tension as it pertains to the role of a government in managing its economy and social welfare: what degree of governmental action is optimal? And more importantly, what motivates government policy? In the realm of international political economy, Smith decries his government for its active role in colonialism and mercantilism; practices ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As per Smith, it was based on the mistaken notion that the wealth of a society was determined by the amount of gold in its reserves rather than the value of that gold in terms of production and consumption. By excluding foreign competition, employers were able to enjoy a greater share of the market (both domestic and foreign) while laborers endured lower wages and the entirety of society faced a limited choice in terms of produce, all of which cemented the societal status quo and allowed for power retention. For governments, who mistakenly thought that international trade was a zero sum game, mercantilist practice enabled them to feel superior to their trading partners. In this light, although accumulating wealth was the goal for employers and the government it is imperative that the underlying reason for this desire be realized. Indeed, the desire for wealth was merely need for the increase and consolidation of the power of each of these entities. For employers mercantilism allowed them to maintain a competitive advantage, to accumulate capital and importantly, to continue to employ labor so that they did not have to become laborers. For the government, mercantilism was a means of promoting prosperity within borders and asserting their authority towards other nations in order to remain a contending force in the international community. Effects of an infection include: an increase in the patients length of hospital stay, morbidity and mortality rates, and hospital readmission rates. Objective: To determine if the evidence based practice interventions studied and published can help to decrease the rate of infection occurring in central lines. Data sources: The search engine that was used to find three randomized controlled trial articles and support my PICOT question was PubMed. Key terms that were used to search for them included intensive care unit infections, chlorhexidine dressings, antiseptic solutions, and prevention methods for catheter related infections. A clinical guideline for the prevention of intravascular catheter related infection was retrieved from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ). Results: The clinical guideline from the AHRQ encouraged interventions like the chlorhexidine impregnated sponge, antiseptic solution, and other precautious measures in order to reduce catheter related infections. The research completed by Atahan and colleagues (2012), Timsit and colleagues (2012), and Timsit and colleagues (2009) concluded that the use of 2% chlorhexidine gel tegaderm dressing, chlorhexidine impregnated sponge, and the antiseptic solution has significantly helped to reduce infection rates in catheters. • 6. Parental Loss At A Young Age Introduction Parental loss at a young age has been linked to heightened risk of psychological problems in adulthood, especially depression and lower self confidence (Mack, 2001; Mireault Bond, 1992; Saler Skolnick, 1992*) It has also been linked to several different health conditions including chronic pain, hypertension, heart disease, and immune disorders (Luekin Lemery, 2004; McEwen Seeman, 2006). The way a child grieves over a lost parent shapes the way that information is interpreted and stored in the brain as well (Lupien, Ouellet Morin, Hupbach, Tu, Buss, Walker, et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002) and it can influence whether or not life events are defined as stressful (Lupien et al., 2006). Studies conducted concerning childhood bereavement suggest that early parental loss can lead to the development of poorly regulated neuro emotional response systems (Brotman, Gouley, Klein, Castellanos Pine, 2003) and the alteration of brain structures that help with memory and cognitive functioning (Lupien et al., 2006; Vanitallie, 2002). Because of the impact of the loss, often times, children need help to recover from the loss of their parent. There have been several studies conducted on effective interventions and strategies when it comes to helping a child grieve and recover from the loss of their loved one. EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY LAB APK4110L Section # 008 Carissa Insinga 9/22/16 LAB REPORT #2 Resting Metabolic Rate Progressive Submaximal Exercise Test Mike Haischer Introduction In these experiments we talked about the Resting Metabolic Rate and Progressive Submaximal Exercise Testing to determine a subjects carbon dioxide production to oxygen consumption. This was done by having examples provided for us to calculate the RMR by using a formula, (X ml/kg/min x weight in kg) / 1000 mL= # L/min, to determine the number of calories burned at rest, as well having subjects perform the standardized treadmill test for 12 15 minutes for the Progressive Submaximal Exercise Testing. Resting Metabolic Rate is the energy expenditure at rest in well rested, fasted state in a supine position. For an accurate reading of RMR, one should not eat or drink within 6 hours before testing, refrain from any physical activity 12 hours prior, and no caffeine/tobacco/medication consumption beforehand. The purpose of finding RMR is to find the number of kilocalories that are required each day. RMR can be depend on factors such as body composition, genetics, gender, and age. A Progressive Submaximal Exercise Test is a test that estimates VO2 max, oxygen consumption, and is performed by gradually increasing the intensity of exercise. This test helps predict the maximal aerobic capacity of an individual as well as measuring the heart rate and VO2 max. While ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The text itself is constructed using many symbols, which are incorporated to highlight different elements of the film s message. The three major symbols in the film are the Green Light, the Eyes from the Valley of Ashes and finally the Parties, which Gatsby frequently hosts. Probably the most noticeable symbol in the film is the green light, which is situated at the end of Daisy s dock but barely visible from Gatsby s dock. Gatsby is often depicted gazing into the distance at the green light. Luhrmann positions Gatsby in this way because the green light represents hope and his dreams for the future. Another symbol that features regularly throughout the film is the large eyes painted on the old advertising billboard overlooking the Valley of Ashes. These are the eyes of Dr. T. J. Eckleburg. The eyes may represent God or another higher being looking down upon America judging the society for the loss of spiritual values that it has attained. An example of the loss of spiritual values is in the character of Tom Buchanan as he is constantly committing adultery and discriminating against people on their heritage and ancestral background. Indeed I cannot express all that I thought there (Carrasco 75). While this is just one documented account there are countless others expressing the same views. While the popular narrative does mention the wonders of indigenous architecture they fail to focus on the other parts of the statements in these accounts. The Spanish did not only marvel at the artwork and architecture, but also the culture, the lifestyle, just the subtleties of the way they carried on in everyday life. Whether it was the Calpulli system or just the organized manner they went about their day. This fact is often conveniently dismissed by Colón apologists trying to justify the Spanish conquest by claiming the indigenous people were uncivilized. As mentioned, those quick to defend the Eurocentric narrative as well as Columbus often attempt to validate Columbus thinking. As stated by Acuña, apologists of Columbus assert that he did not invent slavery, and that Spain held heated deliberations on whether or not it was moral to enslave these Indians. Spain finally settled on passing the Law of Burgos in 1512. On paper the law was supposed to protect the indigenous people from unbearable labor conditions while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Effects of Absent Fathers on Daughters Relationship... According to the US Census Bureau, 36.3% of children are living absent of their biological fathers. Beginning in 1960 with 8% of children living without their biological father, that percentage has continued to increase. The issue of absent fathers has raised many questions as to what effects this has on individuals and society. Absent fathers (a term that can consist of many different things) can have a profound effect on the development of their daughter s relationships, especially when it comes to their relationships with other men. While the research on this topic may be lacking, what is out there is clear that fathers do play an important role in their development. Women can face things such as becoming sexually promiscuous, low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general girls who grow up without fathers are more likely to experience problems with relationships than girls who grow up with a father. Adolescent girls raised in fatherless households are far more likely to engage in promiscuous sexual activity before marriage, to cohabit, to get pregnant out of wedlock and to have an abortion (Krohn Bogan, 599). The father is helpful in developing a daughter s femininity and in their sexual development (Williamson, 208). Women who had absent fathers growing up tend to have idealized relationships with men, as a hope to get their lost father back, but then comes to the realization that the relationship is flawed and end up disappointed, only to start the cycle over again (Gill, 225). In some interesting statistics, 60% of strippers come from an absent father (Adams, Milner, Schrepf, 171). Females in single parent homes as opposed to intact ones are 53% more likely to marry as teenagers, 111% more likely to have children as teenagers and 92% more likely to divorce if they marry (Krohn Bogan, 599). The mother is not completely left out of this scenario though. When there is an absent father, the response of the mother is an important one in helping the child cope more easily. With divorce or abandonment, how the mother deals with the loss of her significant other greatly affects the child. If a mother degrades the father, the child is more likely to have a negative idea of her father. In contrast, daughters who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Shakespeare authorship question has been a controversial topic since the 19th century. Numerous scholars have used literary analysis techniques and collected data in an attempt to discover the true author of the works credited to Shakespeare. The fact that there is still continuous work by experts on both sides of the argument establishes the sincerity of this question and the determination of researchers to find concrete evidence. In The Shakespeare Authorship Question , the authors compared works written by Shakespeare to pieces by other writers of the time period. On the statistical side, the correspondence of word lengths between Shakespeare and these other authors was significantly different. The researchers found that Shakespeare was one of the few authors that used more 4 letter words than any other size (2) contrasting to the higher use of 3 letter words with both Marlowe and Bacon. For Edward de Vere, the word length analysis showed a slightly higher correspondence; however, the character distribution between the two writers did not match. For de Vere, the researchers analyzed 600 lines of poetry, while with Shakespeare they analyzed 9000 lines of prose from his plays. This unequal comparison shows that not only did the authors have different styles, but they also wrote different genres making it unlikely that they were the same person. Other scholars come up with a different reason why there could be some correspondence between writers. Carol Rutter presents the idea that Shakespeare collaborated not with another playwright, but with the actors (3) whose voices may have been influenced by that of another playwright of the time. The actors most likely heard or read the plays and writings of other authors such as Bacon, Marlowe, and de Vere, which may have influenced their voices. Not only that, but the other possible authors also wrote their own plays and works. It would have been very difficult for these authors to have written their own works along with all of Shakespeare s. But, yet it used to flow on a seasonal basis through and would have been used for leisure activities, such as swimming. If you looked at the River Torrens now you could never tell that s what it was used for, and instead, you can see the unsightly weir restricting water flow and the murky brown green water plagued with environmental issues. Aeration pumps have successfully been used in many rivers and dams to lower algal blooms, they work by reducing nutrient load in the water column and mixing algae deeper into the water so that they are deprived of light, other methods such as algaecides are also used as these are toxic to the algae or cyanobacteria, but using algaecides can come with great risks and may cause more problems. As a part of a redevelopment plan, the city of Adelaide has been looking at potential ways to remove the algae and rubbish in the river, the plan is to lower the weir so that there is a flow of water. This means that nutrients will be moving through and not concentrated in a singular spot, reducing the likeliness of algal blooms. At the moment the most that are being done on carp is a ban on releasing them back in the waterway, however, many people are working on an alternative. Since the children were small they could get under the machinery and keep things clear so the machines would continue to run. Some factories primarily hired young women to operate their facility. As stated in Morals of Manufactures (1837), young women would leave their families to live in boarding houses owned by the factories (Martineau). This concept was to protect the women from the evils of the world. They were required to work fourteen hours a day with thirty minutes for eating twice a day. If that was not bad enough, many slept five people to a room. Lack of space and privacy prevented them from wondering about life outside the factory. Harriet Martineau was very concerned with the life these women were being forced to live and the freedoms they were not allowed to have such as participating in dances. She felt they were no better off than slaves based on their living and working conditions. If that was not enough, some of the factory owners tried to extend the work day while governing meal times. (Hunt, pg. 22). According to Esolen, (pg. 35), Egyptian society was structured as such: the Pharaoh came first, and was believed to be God on earth. Next came the Vizier , who was the pharaohs chief advisor. Nobles were next in the hierarchy, and made local laws. Priests followed, and were responsible for performing rituals and ceremonies. Scribes were a very important group, as they were the only ones who could read or write, so they were the record keepers. A small percentage of boys from good families were trained for this particular job, starting at the age of five. Soldiers came next, and were responsible for the defense of the country. • 41. Selfishness In Kate Chopin s A Pair Of Silk Stockings Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live, it is asking others to live as one wishes to live. This quote by Oscar Wilde is relative to the actions of Mrs.Sommers, considering her children and the state in which her family lives in. In A Pair of Silk Stockings, by Kate Chopin, a mother of at least four children temporarily escapes the hardships of motherhood for a day and enjoys long missed extravagance. She was formerly a woman of luxury, and when she acquires a large amount of money, she decides to rediscover the world of riches. Her actions are selfish in doing so, because her family is not in a stable condition, she is a mother of several children, and she does not deserve this opulent treatment. • 42. How Native Americans Handle Symptoms of Illness Everyone gets sick and throughout generations they find ways to handle the symptoms. The ways that people define and decide to treat their illnesses depend on their culture. The Native Americans have developed their own ways to handle their illnesses. Their techniques should be incorporated more into modern medicine; this would improve the way modern medicine is practiced. The Native American s believe that they are spiritually and physically connected to nature (Schwing, 2008). This is the way that Lori was raised on the reservation. She had attended ceremonies with her father as she was growing up (Alvord, 2000). Everyone should try to understand the Native American view, and try to adopt at least part of it. Weather someone wants to look at it from a spiritual way or a biological way the earth is interconnected with the people and the animals living on it. We are seeing more species of animals and plants being extinct, and it seems that most people do not care or just done realize that this is happening. Not only are we losing out on specific species themselves but also by how it will disrupt the balance of nature. Native Americans believe that people can get ill from an imbalanced life or diseases (Schwing, 2008). Lori had seen this many times with her patients in the hospital. When the people in the operating room were not balance with themselves and each other Lori noticed that the patients had rougher recoveries. Once she started to notice this she ... Although party identification is often thought to be a function of affective attachment to a party, it is also a function of social identification with the party. Moreover, it is likely that affective attachment to a party acts as a source or a byproduct for social identification, or some combination of the two. Shared social identity provides pre dictability with a low cost for information cues (Greene, 1999). As suggested by Greene, intergroup relationships take precedence over intellectual concerns in the formation of politi cal attitudes and party affiliation. Thus, political identities are more likely to produce parti san polarization, rather than specific ideologies or policies. Social identity theory allows us to examine the motivational and cognitive basis for the consistent bipolar perceptual and attitudinal patterns in politics (Greene, 2000). In sup port of social identity theory, Greene found that people tended to think and feel more favor ably about the party they identified with and more negatively about the opposing party. Hence, social identification with a party significantly predicts cognitive and affective atti tudes toward political parties. Furthermore, social identity significantly predicts party sup port and involvement over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. In-Yer-Face Theatre Scene Analysis It offends today, but we look harder and we know, it will not offend tomorrow. Having commented upon how the In Yer Face term came to be and how the phrase changed over time, it will be mentioned at this point how this theatre scene developed its place since it was first recognized by the public. In yer face theatre always shocks audiences by its language and images; unsettles them by its emotional frankness and disturbs them by its questioning of moral norms. Most in yer face plays are not interested in showing events in a detached way and allowing audiences to speculate about them; instead, they are experiential they want audiences to feel the extreme emotions that are being shown on stage. Although the rise of in yer face theatre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hot theatre is usually the smaller performance with more limited audience. The cool theatre on the other hand, uses aggressive and extreme emotions but it is eased up with a clever combination of distancing devices. These devices can be larger audiences or the use of more traditional structures, although the comedy is considered as the most effective distancing device. It can sometimes defuse an emotionally fraught situation. After all, a common reaction to terror is either to ignore it or to laugh at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Reflection For My Citizenship Project Reflection For my citizenship project, I chose to volunteer at the Daniel Stowe Botanical garden. My goal was to obtain 15 hours of community service by volunteering for educational assistant, horticulture crew, and at the holiday at the garden events. To reach my goal, I had to figure out two major problems. When to volunteer and my transportation. In order to make my project possible, I had to work with my parents. By looking at an online calendar, we were able to schedule when I can volunteer and my event. We decided that I could volunteer in the morning during winter break, and my parents would drop and pick me up. Before my first day volunteering, i felt more nervous than excited. I was completely clueless and worried that I wouldn t be able to do my job properly. I was afraid that I might become loss, or that I might have signed up incorrectly. Most of all, I was afraid that I ll would embarrass myself. What made it vene more nerve wrecking was that I had no friends or family to volunteer with me, so I was hesitant with working with a stranger much older than me. Despite my worries, I was excited to see the garden. I wanted to compare the botanical garden in Las Vegas to the one I am currently volunteering at. I was especially enthusiastic about the arts and crafts I will be creating on my first day. I volunteered a total of __ days, each day brought a new experience and improved my communication skills. I started off volunteering at the fairy fest. It was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. United States Involvement In Vietnam During the war people could see a possible communist victory. So, the US decided to get involved. Before they were fulling engaged, some US troops were serving as advisers and were sending equipment to South Vietnam. I believe the United States involvement wasn t justified for many reasons. In 1964, the United States congress allowed the US to enter into the war in Vietnam. By 1965 more than 180,000 US troops were in fighting and planes began to bomb North Vietnam. We had the most advanced army in the world. We had multiple strategies. We began fighting guerrilla warfare in the unfamiliar terrain. Then later, the US turned to air power when the nations couldn t defend themselves on the ground any longer. We began bombing farmlands, forests, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
