The American Enlightenment Philosophy
The American Enlightenment Philosophy developed for a period of almost a century starting in mid
18th century and continued till the latter parts of the 19th century. This was the same era in which the
America gained independence and the nation was developing as a cohesive unit. It was on the rise and
the people wanted to leave a mark o the international scene. Just like we saw an Age of Enlightenment
in the European areas almost a 100 years back the same pattern was being followed and exhibited by
the people in this region. Since the major contingency of the people who had settled in the United
States were the descendants and the hybrids a number of different races and that is why they had a
fairly rich culture and their heritage directed them to be on the path to discovery. There were Brits,
Hispanics, Germans and French and similarly there were people who followed different religions and
levels and their faiths were different. So they were emerging as a new nation. A new force and they
had a lot to write home about. They had to prove something to the world and since most of the people
who were leading the nation were highly educated and the learned people were given their due
importance, it was realized well and truly in advance that the nation could only succeed if the new and
revamped philosophies were implemented. There were a number of different kinds of authors and they
felt that it had come upon them to deliver the best for the nation. They had to create awareness

Why Did Lord Chamberlain s Men Use The Globe Theater
During this time period, there were not any televisions, cell phones, or computers. Because of this
people relied on the theater to keep them entertained. Though officially approved playhouses and
acting companies had only been around for about five years The Lord Chamberlain s Men was one of
the two acting companies that were permitted to perform in London city limits. Lord Chamberlain s
Men used the globe theater, while the other group used the Rose Playhouse which was owned by an
impresario and his son in law who was a former actor. In 1576 the Blackfriars Theater was built, but
Lord Chamberlain s Men could not use it to perform in. This is why the Globe Theater was built in
1598, though they could not finish the original construction because

Introduction
The play Heartbreaker is a fictitious story done by Michael Golamco. It features two main characters,
Vithy, who is a sixteen year old teenager and her elder sister Ra who is aged twenty two years. The
play takes place in a solemn setting down in a small apartment bedroom. The room does not contain a
lot of things; it is empty except for some few basic properties that make a bedroom. They events of the
play take place at Long Beach in the California region. Michael Golamco has used the story in
bringing out loneliness as a theme in the play and its consecutive results in the people affected by it.
The play has some points as its plot develops where the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He objects to this suggestion as he keeps persisting to his sister for her to allow him to go with her.
Her sister is still defensive, rigid and seems like she is not feeling the plea her brother was making as
she indirect objects his plea by citing a reason that she has a small place in back in Berkeley. It is one
room with just a hot plate. Also, the fact that ... Glen had parked his stuffs in the station , was another
of the reasons his sister was giving in order to convince him to stay with their aunt. This did not sound
as a good idea for Vuthy, to him; there was no reason that substantiated his staying around with their
aunt. He saw all attempts as avenues of leaving him lonely again, which on realizing this, he fought as
much as he could in order to avoid this.
The theme of loneliness is also featured when their mother left them. She died some time back when
Vuthy was still young. In her words, Ra expresses the reason why she died. She claims that Vuthy
made their mother sick through ... being weird for not having friends (Burroway, 2011). Therefore, she
became sick because of that. Here, Vuthy is portrayed to be a Loney fellow, according to his sister, she
is weird in her lonely nature. A nature that does not allow him to have friends. Though she knew that
her brother had friends, Vuthy confesses that they all left and he is now alone with no one close to
him. This has made him equally

Alexis De Tocqueville American Progress
During 1872, a patriotic Prussian immigrant by the name of John Gast painted American Progress. In
the iconic art piece, a ginormous angel floats midair as a heavenly light bows down upon her. Below
her feet are westward moving European settlers that are eager for a conquest. According to Manifest
Destiny, the conquest that the settlers seek is the entirety of America s western frontier. On the far left
side of American Progress are Native Americans who glance back at what they once called their own.
Unfortunately for the Native Americans, the white man s god had already declared a war against the
uncivilized and the wilderness. In Democracy in America, French sociologist, Alexis de Tocqueville

Covert Action Definition
Covert Action is any activity performed by U.S. government entities with the intent to influence
another nations political, economic or military conditions, while the U.S. government role will not be
known or acknowledged publicly. Thus, providing the United States plausible deniability is crucial to
any covert action carried out by the U.S. government. However, as one can tell by the provided covert
action definition, there are various forms of covert actions. This essay will discuss the various forms
of covert action and assess each discussed covert actions utility and value in the modern era.
Additionally, an example of one of the forms of covert action will be provided. Political propaganda is
one form of covert action. The intent of political propaganda is to influence a nations citizens
regarding the nation s politicians, economy, political situation, and/or military threats. This is
accomplished by publish false statements in newspapers, magazine, books, and other forms of

However, unlike political propaganda covert actions, political activities covert actions can still be
successful in today s world. This is primarily because in the areas where the United States would
utilize such covert actions, those nations typically blame the United States anytime a particular
political activity does not goes as planned. Therefore, the nations that would place the blame have

Europe, the world s third continent in population is the second smallest continent by area and
encompasses more than 50 sovereign countries. Parts of Europe are also some of the busiest airspaces

Europe s regulatory and organizational framework
Meteorological Services to International Air Navigation is on a global scale regulated by two
specialized agencies of the United Nations (UN): the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and
the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The WMO is the UN system s authoritative
voice on the state and behavior of the Earth s atmosphere, its interaction with the oceans, the climate it
produces and the resulting distribution of water resources (VWO, n.d) and (Yan, 2010). Via the
Aeronautical Meteorology Program (AeMP) the WMOs objective is to warrant a global reliable
availability of timely, cost effective and high quality meteorological services to aviation (VWO, n.d).
The WMO provides relevant regulations in the Technical Regulations (WMO No.49) Volume II for
Meteorological Service to International Air Navigation. This publication is nearly identical to ICAOs
Annex 3 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation (WMO 2015). In addition to the Technical
Regulations the WMO creates and provides documentation on how to implement the standard and
recommended practices to its members on how to use meteorological instruments at aeronautical

How Pipes Can Help Confirm The Identity Of A Damaged Vessel
Pipes are often found at underwater archaeological sites and can provide valuable information,
regardless of their condition. Broken pipes can provide similar information to those found still fully
intact based on key features, as long as they are still preserved enough to identify. Based on such key
features, the origins of pipes can be traced back to their manufacturers, determining both where they
came from and the time period during which they were made. Because of this, pipes can be used to
help confirm the identity of a wrecked ship; pipes may be from the same country as the wreck and be
used as evidence to support claims of the origin of the ship, or from a different country or region
entirely, indicating some form of trade or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, with the ability to date these pipes, it can be possible to date the ship as well. By knowing the
relative date and origin of the ship, and if the pipes can be related to historical documents, there is
potential to positively identify the ship and support the claim.
Mediterranean and Ottoman style pipes are markedly different from their northern European
counterparts, allowing for distinctions to be made between different pipe making traditions. Pipe
smoking, concerning tobacco in particular, was popular within the Balkans, and evidence suggests that
it may have been practiced as early as the end of the sixteenth century (Batchvarov 3). Conversely, it
has also been argued the English introduced tobacco smoking at the start of the seventeenth century
(Batchvarov 3). Stub stemmed or reed pipes were popular in this area, as the remains of many were
found in harbors in the waters of Malta. This style of pipe is commonly found in association with
inhabited areas and trade routes across the Ottoman Empire (Wood 315). Of these pipes originating
from the Mediterranean that were discovered at a site in Dockyard Creek, Birgu, many had a keel joint
between the bowl and shank, a feature which begins in the late 17th early 18th century (Wood 317).
Due to this feature, it is possible to roughly date these pipes, as they could not be from a time period

Essay on themes in Things Fall Apart and Second Coming
Similar Themes in Things Fall Apart and The Second Coming
The novel Things Fall Apart examines African culture before the colonial infiltration. Achebe s novel
forces us to examine the customs and traditions that make up an informal culture. At times we may
find some their practices appalling, but Achebe makes us realize that the traditions and customs are
what essentially hold the Ibo together. Achebe wrote Things Fall Apart with the intention of changing
the common view of African culture. He wrote the novel from an insider s perspective, revealing that
African culture was not solely based on barbaric and mindless rituals. Achebe reveals the affects of the
colonial infiltration on African societies. Through his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Achebe portrays the life of the Ibo tribe before the first touch of the white men. Before the colonial
infiltration the Ibo had a very cyclic view of time. Their beleifs and rituals were practiced the same rit
at the same time every year. Where as the white man s traditions and view of time were much more
linear. Right from the Ibo s first encounter with the whites, the reader can observe the cycle as being
unchangeably altered. It is the coming of thei missionaries which brings the disruption. After
thousands of years of unviolated and untouched traditions, Okonkwo returns after just seven years of
exile and finds his village turned upside down. In addition, the Ibo people fail to recognize him as a
leader. Their new religon and government and trading stores were very much in the people s eyes and
minds, the talked and though about little else.. The whites swept away the Ibo tradition and heritage.
Here, Okonkwo can be seen as the falconer as depicted in Yeats poem. He was once looked upon as a
respected leader, but now the falcon the Ibo people do not hear the falconer, Okonkwo.
The disruption of the Ibo cycle is

The Effects of Westernization on the Ruling Class of South...
South Africa: In the Hands of Many Africa is land of various climates, deserts to the north, in the
middle of the contenent, lays large jungles, and plains and mountains to the south. The whole southern
end itself is various, not only in its in its cultures, but its peoples too. Between the beginning of the
19th century and the beginning of World War I in 1914, there was a power struggle between 3 major
groups of people: The British, who had once inhabited the Cape Colony and had returned, the Native
Africans, who had been there for some time, and had learned to live off the land, and the Boers, the
descendants of the Dutch who had lived in the cape until the British returned. All of these people held

This caused a stir in the cape colony s Dutch population, who were the largest group of slave owners.
The Dutch still managed to capture slaves despite the law. After more years of reform, the British
government had then said that all slaves must be considered free, and abolished slavery in the early
1830s. The Dutch slave owners were forced to give up their slaves, and then train them as apprentices
for the next four years. In 1834, the apprentices that had once been slaves had become masters at their
work, and were set free. Though most of them could only do farm work or were hired as servants.
Louis Trichardt, Hans van Rensburg, Hendrick Potgieter and Gert Maritz, wealthy Dutch farm owners
had made plans for a new land for them to farm and have slaves. A large group of former Dutch slave
owners had banded together under these men, kidnapped their slaves, and made plans to move up
north to create their own republic where they could keep their slaves. These people, now known as
Voortrekkers, had set out on what was called The Great Trek . The Trekkers had split into several
groups and had elected people to lead those groups. These groups had split up and moved in several
directions to the north east of Cape Town. Most of these groups had little trouble when progressing
across the South African landscape, while some of these groups had been entirely slaughtered by
natives, or had gone way off course and died of starvation.

Planaria Fermentation Results
After performing the experiment, the results showed that planaria were typically more successful in
regenerating when they were cut transversely at the tail than when they were decapitated at both the
one week mark and the two week mark. The only exception was at the one week mark, when a higher
ratio of the top parts of the planaria fully regenerated than did the bottom parts. Even further, the data
seemed to show that the bottom part of the planaria was much more successful at regenerating than the
top part was. For example, after one week, 92.5% of the bottom part of a planaria that was
transversely cut through the tail partially regenerated, where only 55% of the top part of the planaria
that was decapitated partially regenerated. Thus, the results of this experiment support current research
that states that some areas of the planaria are able to regenerate more quickly than other parts. ... Show

One of the biggest problems was that all 10 of Group 4 s planaria s heads died because the worms left
the water and died during the second week. Although this was not really the experimenters faults, it
definitely altered the results. Furthermore, while we did have multiple repetitions, the number of
repetitions was still small. Also, we did have a fairly large sample size (40), but even so, random
chance might have altered the data. It s important to recognize that there are factors that may have
caused the results to become less accurate, but because there were multiple repetitions and many
samples, the effects of random chance were likely minimized. Additionally, many people found it hard
to determine whether planaria were partially regenerated or fully regenerated, which may have altered
the data and made them less

Chief Master Sergeant Paul W. Airey Essay
Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy Introduction There are many types of leaders
not only in the military, but also in every civilian company around the world. We rarely see a leader
who possesses both vision and an ethical style of leadership; however, CMSgt Paul W. Airey, the first
Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, was this type of leader. Throughout this paper I will discuss
his ability to be both a visionary and ethical leader, which resulted in CMSgt Airey being labeled a
legend (LaGrone, 2009, p.2). He was described by the former Chief of Staff, General Norton Schwartz

CMSgt Airey used his leadership ability to address the low retention rates of first term Airmen, which
was at a 12 year low (Lucas, 1997). As a visionary leader he understood that it was not just the war in
Vietnam that was to blame for the low retention (Lucas, 1997). He realized that the promotion system
was broken and he set his sites on developing a system that would improve promotion opportunities
for every Airman (Lucas, 1997). Many would say that this was the most influential contribution he
made during his tenure. CMSgt Airey led a team from several career fields. He understood and used
the Z process according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) team building when he met with his
team (p.6 8). The teams use and understanding according to Thomas N. Barnes Center (2012a) change
management resulted in the the development of the Weighted Airman Promotion System (WAPS)
(p.17 19) (Lucas, 1997). Chief Airey was quoted as saying the end result was a promotion system
which today is still in effect and is by far the fairest, most equitable enlisted promotion system of any
of the armed forces (Lucas, 1997, p3). Furthermore, CMSgt Airey understood that you could not have
vision if you sat behind a desk and because of this he traveled to many bases throughout his tenure. He
was asked by the chairman of the House Banking Committee to go to Europe after many complaints

Most evictions requires a notice demanding that the tenant does something or refrains from doing
something or in the alternative vacate the house. The most common cause of eviction is failure to pay
rent. This kind of eviction requires a three day notice to pay the rent or vacate. The tenant can pay the
rent before the lapse of the three days to avoid eviction. The tenant must have defaulted payment in
order to serve the notice. The tenant can also be evicted for failure to comply or a violation of the
tenant agreement. The notice period of this type of eviction is three days and the tenant must comply
with the relevant section of the tenant agreement. The tenant can also be evicted for waste nuisance or
illegal activity. The three day notice for this type of eviction requires the tenant to have caused
substantial destruction of the house, involved in illegal activities or an arrest on the property. This
notice does not give the tenant the option to comply but requires the tenant to vacate before the end of
the notice period. There is also the 30 day notice for the termination of tenancy agreement. In this
case, Larry does not have grounds to evict Roger. The damage on drywall and the electric socket are
not substantial to issue a notice for waste. However, Larry can ask Roger to make repairs. At the end

What Is The Tone In King Lear
King Lear asks his daughters which of them loves him the most. Cordelia expresses honestly to him
her answer. She tells him that she loves him, and respects him. She appreciates his fatherly efforts to
take care of them. Nevertheless she knows his game of trying to boost his ego, so she vocalizes that
her love for him will never be with her whole heart. She is soon to be married so half her heart
belongs to her new husband. The rest is for caring for her family which includes her sisters, and her
father. This passage shows that she is honest and does not reduce herself for pleasing her father. As
she speaks to her father she keeps a calm and collected attitude. She speaks to him respectfully.
Throughout the passage the author uses abstract diction to express the emotions cordelia feels.
This passage is significant to the play because it sets up the events following. After she refuses to
enlarge her father s self esteem,he tells her to leave. She no longer stays with her father or have
contact with him. This also opens king Lear s eyes to the truth. He learns that his daughter that he left

Analysis Of The Maltese Falcon
According to our text book The Maltese falcon is considered one of the first hard boiled noir films,
although it doesn t have the artistic, noirish lighting that later films develop. Film noir is typically
dark, morally, and cinematically, with a male protagonist in conflict with criminals, and usually a
femme fatale, as an antagonist. This movie wasn t easy to follow, but after the third viewing, I think I
figured it out. There are many twists and turns, but Sam Spade manages to stay one step ahead of the
king pin, Gutman, and the others who are after the falcon. At first, I thought that Spade was all in for

Islamic State Of Iraq And Al Sham ( Isis )
What Are ISIS Intentions?
This assignment is a qualitative study about Islamic State of Iraq and al Sham (ISIS). What it ISIS?
Where does it come from? What are its intentions? These questions seem to be simple but can be
misrepresenting. According to Schmitt, Major General Nagata, the Special Operations commander for
the U.S. in the Middle East, admitted that that he had barely begun figuring out the Islamic State?s
appeal. ?We have not defeated the idea,? he said. ?We do not even understand the idea.? In the past
year, President Obama has referred to the Islamic State as ?not Islamic? and as al Qaeda?s second
team statements that reflected confusion about the group, and may have contributed to significant
strategic errors (Schmitt, 2014).
Since summer of 2010, ISIS seized Mosul, Iraq and ruled an area larger than the United Kingdom.
According to Wood, Abu Bakr al Baghdadi has been known as the leader, who delivered a Ramadan
sermon to upgrade his resolution from hunted guerrilla to commander of all Muslims in summer 2014
(Wood, 2015). Baghdadi has spoken on camera only once, but he has sent online videos and
encyclicals to supporters who have toiled mightily to make their project knowable. These online
resources reject peace and hunger for slaughter. ISIS religious views make it constitutionally
incapable of certain types of change and it considers itself a precursor in the coming end of the world.

level the playing field for children from poorer backgrounds through investments.
Many businesses across the Caribbean recognise this and create opportunities to benefit millions of
children across the region. Most recently, The Sandals Foundation, the non profit arm of Sandals
Resorts International, announced a new collaboration with School Specialty, Inc. for the Pack for a
Purpose program. This partnership will further assist travellers to Sandals Resorts and Beaches
Resorts, who wish to bring along much needed supplies for local schools across the Caribbean
supported by the company. The partnership comes at a crucial time following the effects Hurricane
Matthew which has caused many problems regionally.
Unfortunately, childhood can be robbed from children when they become involved in child labour.
Child labour is work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity and that
is is harmful to their development.

The Myth Of The Ant Queen
While technology is commonly thought of as inventions and gadgets, anything that humans have
developed for specific purposes or to accomplish certain goals, such as methods or models, must also
be correctly categorized as such. In Cathy Davidson s essay Project Classroom Makeover, she
discusses a few unconventional forms of technology such as the educational classroom paradigm and
standardization. Similarly, in Steve Johnson s essay The Myth of the Ant Queen, he presents
procedural technology, such as self organizing systems, and conceptual technology, collaborative
intelligence. He then utilizes another conceptual form of technology, the complexity theory, to
interpret these systems seemingly uncoordinated patterns. Sherry Turkle branches off of Davidson and
Johnson s ideas by discussing the consequences of questioning what makes a robot alive in her essay
Alone Together. This narrative highlights the technology s effect on humans and the reality of robots
either improving or diminishing an individual s quality of life. Besides the slight apprehension of its
future usage, humans are mesmerized by the promising potential technology presents. Additionally,
structural or paradigmatic technology is deeply intertwined and inherent within society s functioning,
making it impossible to separate technology from human existence. Models and frameworks for
systems, also known as paradigms, are innate in all organizations and push the limits of human
creativity, knowledge, and

Uncle Tom s Cabin And Searching For Sugar Man
Many times in literature and film we have come across characters or historical figures that show
selfless acts which has created incredibly touching stories and has added a different dynamic to a story
without trying. I believe that in Uncle Tom s Cabin and Searching for Sugar Man (Malik Bendjelloul,
2012) there were many acts of selflessness which allowed for both of these works to stand out from
others. The story of Uncle Tom s Cabin in itself was fascinating, but Tom and very few other
characters showed selfless acts which made the story even more interesting. As for Searching for
Sugar Man, Sixto Rodriguez and his family were shown as some of the most selfless people I have
ever seen. The Rodriguez family had so little and were taken advantage of by lying record labels, but
were so thankful and appreciative of the people in South Africa when Sixto finally performed there. At
the very beginning of Uncle Tom s Cabin we are introduced to Tom, a slave owned by Arthur and
Emily Shelby. We learn that the Shelby s are struggling financially and are meeting with a slave trader,
Mr. Hayley, to figure out which of their slaves could be sold for the most money. Tom has great value
in the eyes of the Shelby s but Mr. Hayley believes that he could be sold for a great amount of money.
When Tom finds out that he is going to be sold, along with another little boy, Harry, Harry s parents,
Eliza and George, decide that they are going to escape with their son before he could be sold and

The Council Of Jerusalem
The council of Jerusalem was a Christian Apostolic Age council that was held in Jerusalem and dated
to around the year 50 AD. It is considered to be one of the more important and special council among
the ancient pre ecumenical councils in that it is considered by Catholics and Orthodox to be a
blueprint or a stencil of the later Ecumenical Councils and a key part of Christian ethics. The council
decided that Gentile converts to Christianity were not obligated to keep most of the Law of Moses
including the rules concerning circumcision of males. The Council did, however, retain the
prohibitions on eating blood, meat containing blood, and meat of animals not properly slain, and on
fornication and idolatry, sometimes referred to as the Apostolic Decree or Jerusalem Quadrilateral.
This is a major stepping stone in the church because people are forever going to use this as a
blueprint/prototype for the councils that still have to come. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He is generally considered one of the most important figures of the Apostolic Age. In the mid 30s to
the mid 50s, he found many of the churches in Asia Minor and Europe that are still standing today.
Paul used his status as both a Jew and a Roman citizen to advantage because the roman citizens were
highly protected and if they were harmed then it is considered a huge act of crime. So in his ministry
he directed to both Jewish and Roman audiences because he is the same as his audience and he is also
an inspiration to people who believe in god. According to writings in the New Testament Paul, who

Callie Khouri s Thelma and Louise
Even in today s growing world of feminism, young girls, as well as grown women, are being taught by
the media to organize their lives around men. Their needs, expectations, work schedules, ideas, and
interests become second to the men in their lives. All too often the media associates power and status
to men, only to strengthen the barriers between the male and female genders. Take for example
Hollywood, where women get only about a third of all movie and TV roles, and last year earned less
than male actors in all age categories... (Eby, 1). And even though gender should not be used as the
determining factor of what one can and cannot do, Hollywood, as well as everywhere else, has proven
that the old habits of gender discrimination die ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene itself carries a great deal of symbolism. Harlan, the rapist who is eventually shot, becomes
a representation of all things that hold women back. He becomes the wall which holds back women
from fulfilling their wishes, ambitions, pleasures, and impulses (NY Times, 1991). Thelma is who we
are, a prisoner behind this wall and Louise is who we want to become... the prisoner who breaks free
and confronts those who held her back.
Another cathartic scene is that in which Thelma and Louise confront the truck driver who has been
harassing them the entire distance of their road trip. That truck driver is someone almost every woman
has dealt with at some time or another. There is not a woman in the world who has not dealt with that
guy. He is out there in force, but when you re walking down the street and guys do that, what you re
supposed to do as a woman is ignore it (LA Times, 1991). After ignoring the truck driver throughout
most of the movie, Thelma and Louise take a stand, not only for themselves but also for all the women
who have wished they could say something back, but haven t for whatever reason it may be. All the
suppressed emotions and unsaid words of both the woman on screen and those sitting in the audience
manifest themselves into an explosion which blows up the truck driver s sense of power... not to
mention the truck itself.

When Is Lying Okay Analysis
Isabella lopez

core 2 when is lying okay?
Lies are told everyday but its hard to tell exactly when lying is ok? For example in the excerpt
rejecting all lies written by immanuel kant, kant believes lying is never ok and no one should ever lie
and truthfulness is a duty which no circumstances can put aside. Equally important in the excerpt Brad
Blanton: honestly, Tell the Truth by Barbara Ballinger,Brad Blanton expresses his opinion on lying
and how we believes it is almost never ok. He states we shouldn t manipulate the truth except for rare
times if you re hiding Anne Frank in your attic because her life is in danger which means he thinks

The third reason why I think lying is sometimes ok is if you re trying to get yourself out of trouble or a
lie. For instance in Teens Do their Share of Lying by Loretta Ragsdell, Ragsdell asks teens when they
think lying to which a teen named tim answers the key to a good lie is to keep it simple, if you get
caught in a lie, tell another one, and tell another one to cover that one up... this reason proves that
lying is sometimes ok because you don t want to get in trouble so you lie or you got caught in a lie so
you lie to cover up the other lie up.
However in Rejecting All Lies Immanuel Kant argues that A lie even if it does not wrong any
particular individual, always harms mankind individually although opponents suggest lying is ok if
you are trying to protect someone. Therefore I believe lying is sometimes

John Barrymore once said, You can t drown yourself in a drink. I ve tried; you float. Quotes like these
and many others from John Barrymore embody him for all that he was. As John Barrymore got older,
his mind and health started to decline due to his addiction to alcohol and his constant need to be
married to someone. John Sidney Blythe Barrymore was born on February 15 in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania in 1882. He was born to Maurice Barrymore, who was an alcoholic and contracted
syphilis from an unknown source, and Georgiana Drew Barrymore, who contracted tuberculosis and

One of the reasons he continued drinking was because he developed depression since alcohol is
considered a depressant drug, which caused him to drink even more to help relieve the depression.
Another problem he developed was erratic and bizarre behavior, which he had worried about earlier in
his life because his father also went slowly insane. Barrymore s worry was most likely caused by the
anxiety that he felt from the early stages of his alcoholism, which was caused by his system trying to
overcome the stress of the alcohol s buzz . Another thing that could have contributed to Barrymore s
bizarre and erratic behavior was the alcohol s effect on the serotonin levels in his brain, which
regulates mood in the brain. Barrymore s random and sometimes depressing behavior can be

The Main Causes Of The Woes Of Math Anxiety
The Woes of Math Anxiety Math anxiety is the phenomenon that affects may people, causing them to
feel anxiety or stress when faced with anything related to math. Math anxiety can potentially affect
anyone with the condition at any point in their lives, but it is most prominent within the classroom, as
that is when the math is the most stressful. Three of the main causes of math anxiety are: public
exposure, the influence of teachers, and time deadlines (Curtain Phillips, 2017). Once the causes are
fully understood, a method to overcome them can be created. Firstly, it is important to understand
when someone is suffering from math anxiety. Some symptoms are: passive behavior, a feeling of
being alone, a lack of confidence and panic during tests (Oxford 2017). ( In complete paragraph)
Public exposure refers to a student being publicly wrong, such as when called upon a by a teacher to
answer a question. This can lead to many students, especially those with math anxiety to not speak up
during class as to not make a fool of themselves. Sometimes in even worse cases, a student has been
reprimanded or scolded by a teacher in the past which would cause them to become weary or even
scared of answering a question in class (Oxford 2017). The best way to overcome this issue would be
with positive reinforcement. Placing great focus on their success while keeping criticisms of their
failure constructive gives the student the message that it is ok to be wrong, as no one is correct every

cash from sales) and external sources of finance from outside the business (e.g. a bank loan). There is
a need of external financing for the expansion through acquisition. External financing is a good source
of raising money besides internal funds. As per business finance, external financing can take the shape
of two different types of financing, debt or equity. Debt financing includes bank loans where a
company gets financed by issuing debentures which they have to pay back after a certain period of
time. It is called debt financing because the company is in debt to the bond holders and if they were to
go bankrupt, the bond holders would have claim to any remaining assets. In this case these are secured
business loans. Equity financing is when a company decides to give up ownership in the company to
raise funds. This is usually done by selling company stock to investors. Sometimes this could include
seeking out angel investors or venture capitalists. If you are expecting to get external financing
through equity financing make sure that your business has a product or service that is unique, and that
there is a high demand for your product or service. Most venture capital investors or even angel
investors will not look at an offer unless they see a large growth potential. (2)

Determination of Specific Heat
Determination of specific heat
Capacity of a solid by electrical method
Introduction
Thermal conductivity heat is transferred as a consequence of temperature difference between 2 bodies,
heat energy passes form a hotter to the colder body. Specific heat capacity is the amount of heat
energy required in joules to raise 1kg of a substance by 1 degree Celsius, different substances absorb
heat energy at different rates not all substances require the same amount of heat energy to increase the
internal temperature of a substance this depends on the mass and the material it s self. To demonstrate
specific heat capacity of a solid an experiment was carried out using 1kg aluminium mass and 1kg
copper mass heat was conducted to the masses by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason for this is that copper s molecules are more densely packed and so it is a good conductor of
heat, and when 1 kg of each substance are compared visually it is easily seen that 1kg of copper mass
is far smaller than 1kg of aluminium mass. Aluminium is more efficient at radiating or dispersing heat
as it is less dense which also makes it a lighter material.
Overall this experiment has successfully reached its objectives however some errors have occurred as
shown in the experimental errors where the experimental values do not match the actual values of the
materials this could be caused by heat loss through the material which could be reduced with better
insulation of the material. Further error could have been avoided in the first experiment by letting the
heating element reach its maximum output before inserting it into the aluminium block as the warm up
time is not taken into consideration in the first experiment; this was not a factor in the second
experiment as the heating element was immediately placed into the copper block and was at its
maximum

Driving On The Road Rage
Drivers come in many different types, and each has their own characteristics. When you are driving,
you can encounter a lot of different types of drivers. The four most known ones are the aggressive
driver, the speeder, the kind driver, and the multitasker. All four of these characteristics are very
different so you will be able to tell which drivers fall in which categories. Every driver has a
destination they are trying to reach and these four characteristics of drivers have a different way of
reaching that destination. When you are driving on the roads, you will likely encounter an aggressive
driver. They usually make themselves noticeable by cutting people off and yelling at other drivers.
They seem to always be in a rush to get to their destination so they will do what they need to do to get
there. Other aggressive drivers can be the type to yell and curse at other drivers because of frustration
which is known as road rage. Someone that has road rage typically will get upset over something that
is not a big deal and yell at other drivers. These type of drivers are the ones people try to avoid so they
do not get involved in a confrontation so they just ignore them. No matter where you are driving, there
are drivers that speed all around you. Some people will go twenty miles an hour over the speed limit
just because they want to get to their destination faster. They will cut people off just to be able to
maintain a high speed. There are many risks when someone is

  • 2. The American Enlightenment Philosophy The American Enlightenment Philosophy developed for a period of almost a century starting in mid 18th century and continued till the latter parts of the 19th century. This was the same era in which the America gained independence and the nation was developing as a cohesive unit. It was on the rise and the people wanted to leave a mark o the international scene. Just like we saw an Age of Enlightenment in the European areas almost a 100 years back the same pattern was being followed and exhibited by the people in this region. Since the major contingency of the people who had settled in the United States were the descendants and the hybrids a number of different races and that is why they had a fairly rich culture and their heritage directed them to be on the path to discovery. There were Brits, Hispanics, Germans and French and similarly there were people who followed different religions and levels and their faiths were different. So they were emerging as a new nation. A new force and they had a lot to write home about. They had to prove something to the world and since most of the people who were leading the nation were highly educated and the learned people were given their due importance, it was realized well and truly in advance that the nation could only succeed if the new and revamped philosophies were implemented. There were a number of different kinds of authors and they felt that it had come upon them to deliver the best for the nation. They had to create awareness ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lord Chamberlain s Men used the globe theater, while the other group used the Rose Playhouse which was owned by an impresario and his son in law who was a former actor. In 1576 the Blackfriars Theater was built, but Lord Chamberlain s Men could not use it to perform in. Glen had parked his stuffs in the station , was another of the reasons his sister was giving in order to convince him to stay with their aunt. This did not sound as a good idea for Vuthy, to him; there was no reason that substantiated his staying around with their aunt. He saw all attempts as avenues of leaving him lonely again, which on realizing this, he fought as much as he could in order to avoid this. The theme of loneliness is also featured when their mother left them. She died some time back when Vuthy was still young. In her words, Ra expresses the reason why she died. She claims that Vuthy made their mother sick through ... being weird for not having friends (Burroway, 2011). Therefore, she became sick because of that. Broken pipes can provide similar information to those found still fully intact based on key features, as long as they are still preserved enough to identify. Based on such key features, the origins of pipes can be traced back to their manufacturers, determining both where they came from and the time period during which they were made. Because of this, pipes can be used to help confirm the identity of a wrecked ship; pipes may be from the same country as the wreck and be used as evidence to support claims of the origin of the ship, or from a different country or region entirely, indicating some form of trade or ... By knowing the relative date and origin of the ship, and if the pipes can be related to historical documents, there is potential to positively identify the ship and support the claim. Mediterranean and Ottoman style pipes are markedly different from their northern European counterparts, allowing for distinctions to be made between different pipe making traditions. Pipe smoking, concerning tobacco in particular, was popular within the Balkans, and evidence suggests that it may have been practiced as early as the end of the sixteenth century (Batchvarov 3). Conversely, it has also been argued the English introduced tobacco smoking at the start of the seventeenth century (Batchvarov 3). Stub stemmed or reed pipes were popular in this area, as the remains of many were found in harbors in the waters of Malta. This style of pipe is commonly found in association with inhabited areas and trade routes across the Ottoman Empire (Wood 315). Of these pipes originating from the Mediterranean that were discovered at a site in Dockyard Creek, Birgu, many had a keel joint between the bowl and shank, a feature which begins in the late 17th early 18th century (Wood 317). Achebe s novel forces us to examine the customs and traditions that make up an informal culture. At times we may find some their practices appalling, but Achebe makes us realize that the traditions and customs are what essentially hold the Ibo together. Right from the Ibo s first encounter with the whites, the reader can observe the cycle as being unchangeably altered. It is the coming of thei missionaries which brings the disruption. After thousands of years of unviolated and untouched traditions, Okonkwo returns after just seven years of exile and finds his village turned upside down. The Dutch slave owners were forced to give up their slaves, and then train them as apprentices for the next four years. The only exception was at the one week mark, when a higher ratio of the top parts of the planaria fully regenerated than did the bottom parts. Even further, the data seemed to show that the bottom part of the planaria was much more successful at regenerating than the top part was. For example, after one week, 92.5% of the bottom part of a planaria that was transversely cut through the tail partially regenerated, where only 55% of the top part of the planaria that was decapitated partially regenerated. Thus, the results of this experiment support current research that states that some areas of the planaria are able to regenerate more quickly than other parts. ... Also, we did have a fairly large sample size (40), but even so, random chance might have altered the data. It s important to recognize that there are factors that may have caused the results to become less accurate, but because there were multiple repetitions and many samples, the effects of random chance were likely minimized. The Council did, however, retain the prohibitions on eating blood, meat containing blood, and meat of animals not properly slain, and on fornication and idolatry, sometimes referred to as the Apostolic Decree or Jerusalem Quadrilateral. • 35. The Main Causes Of The Woes Of Math Anxiety The Woes of Math Anxiety Math anxiety is the phenomenon that affects may people, causing them to feel anxiety or stress when faced with anything related to math. Math anxiety can potentially affect anyone with the condition at any point in their lives, but it is most prominent within the classroom, as that is when the math is the most stressful. Three of the main causes of math anxiety are: public exposure, the influence of teachers, and time deadlines (Curtain Phillips, 2017). Once the causes are fully understood, a method to overcome them can be created. Firstly, it is important to understand when someone is suffering from math anxiety. Some symptoms are: passive behavior, a feeling of being alone, a lack of confidence and panic during tests (Oxford 2017). ( In complete paragraph) Public exposure refers to a student being publicly wrong, such as when called upon a by a teacher to answer a question. This can lead to many students, especially those with math anxiety to not speak up during class as to not make a fool of themselves. Sometimes in even worse cases, a student has been reprimanded or scolded by a teacher in the past which would cause them to become weary or even scared of answering a question in class (Oxford 2017). The best way to overcome this issue would be with positive reinforcement. Placing great focus on their success while keeping criticisms of their failure constructive gives the student the message that it is ok to be wrong, as no one is correct every ... There is a need of external financing for the expansion through acquisition. External financing is a good source of raising money besides internal funds. As per business finance, external financing can take the shape of two different types of financing, debt or equity. Debt financing includes bank loans where a company gets financed by issuing debentures which they have to pay back after a certain period of time. It is called debt financing because the company is in debt to the bond holders and if they were to go bankrupt, the bond holders would have claim to any remaining assets. In this case these are secured business loans. Equity financing is when a company decides to give up ownership in the company to raise funds. This is usually done by selling company stock to investors. Sometimes this could include seeking out angel investors or venture capitalists. If you are expecting to get external financing through equity financing make sure that your business has a product or service that is unique, and that there is a high demand for your product or service. Most venture capital investors or even angel investors will not look at an offer unless they see a large growth potential. (2) IPO is a part of equity financing. • 38. Determination of Specific Heat Determination of specific heat Capacity of a solid by electrical method Introduction Thermal conductivity heat is transferred as a consequence of temperature difference between 2 bodies, heat energy passes form a hotter to the colder body. Specific heat capacity is the amount of heat energy required in joules to raise 1kg of a substance by 1 degree Celsius, different substances absorb heat energy at different rates not all substances require the same amount of heat energy to increase the internal temperature of a substance this depends on the mass and the material it s self. To demonstrate specific heat capacity of a solid an experiment was carried out using 1kg aluminium mass and 1kg copper mass heat was conducted to the masses by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this is that copper s molecules are more densely packed and so it is a good conductor of heat, and when 1 kg of each substance are compared visually it is easily seen that 1kg of copper mass is far smaller than 1kg of aluminium mass. Aluminium is more efficient at radiating or dispersing heat as it is less dense which also makes it a lighter material. Overall this experiment has successfully reached its objectives however some errors have occurred as shown in the experimental errors where the experimental values do not match the actual values of the materials this could be caused by heat loss through the material which could be reduced with better insulation of the material. Further error could have been avoided in the first experiment by letting the heating element reach its maximum output before inserting it into the aluminium block as the warm up time is not taken into consideration in the first experiment; this was not a factor in the second experiment as the heating element was immediately placed into the copper block and was at its maximum ... • 39. Driving On The Road Rage Drivers come in many different types, and each has their own characteristics. When you are driving, you can encounter a lot of different types of drivers. The four most known ones are the aggressive driver, the speeder, the kind driver, and the multitasker. All four of these characteristics are very different so you will be able to tell which drivers fall in which categories. When you are driving on the roads, you will likely encounter an aggressive driver. They usually make themselves noticeable by cutting people off and yelling at other drivers. They seem to always be in a rush to get to their destination so they will do what they need to do to get there. Other aggressive drivers can be the type to yell and curse at other drivers because of frustration which is known as road rage. Someone that has road rage typically will get upset over something that is not a big deal and yell at other drivers. These type of drivers are the ones people try to avoid so they do not get involved in a confrontation so they just ignore them. No matter where you are driving, there are drivers that speed all around you. Some people will go twenty miles an hour over the speed limit just because they want to get to their destination faster. They will cut people off just to be able to maintain a high speed. There are many risks when someone is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
