Federal Bureau of Investigation and White Collar Crimes
White Collar Crime White Collar Crime White Collar Crimes are those illegal acts which are
characterized by deceit, concealment, or violation of trust and which are not dependent upon
the application or threat of physical force or violence. Individuals and organizations commit
these acts to obtain money, property, or services; to avoid the payment or loss of money or
services; or to secure personal or business advantage. ~Federal Bureau of Investigation More
citizens around the world in the 21st century have a greater awareness and common knowledge
or white collar crimes than in previous decades or centuries. In the west, Sutherland is known as
the renowned sociologist who first publically announced and defined white collar crime around
the beginning of World War II, though there is evidence of study and evidence of white collar
crime present in the 19th century and before. The subject of white collar crime is one of
moderate to serious contention, as even its consideration as a crime and its categorization within
all of crime is debated fervently in the past and in the present. White collar crime is prevalent in
the 21st century around the world, perhaps more so than in previous years because of the power
and potential of technology to make possible and execute many examples of white collar crimes.
Agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation additionally use technology as a means to
prevent white collar crime as well as pursue white collar criminals. White

Lucky Luciano Gangster Characteristics
Charles Lucky Luciano
Picture a person, someone with amazing leadership abilities, someone that has the potential to do
virtuous things for the world. Now, I want you to picture this person wasting his/her talents by
making unethical life decisions. Choices that caused harm to thousands of people. Now, imagine
that the same person, and they actually think that what they do is ethical and that they didn t waste
their talent. Would that be frustrating?
Charles Lucky Luciano was born in Sicily, Italy in 1897 and moved to New York City in 1906
with his family. Like many 1st generation American immigrants, there was no silver spoon or easy
road to the American dream. Lucky struggled in school and preferred the ideas of the street life. ...

A visionary leader, in my eyes, can see past certain societal limitations to advance the work climate
and outlooks for all people he/she leads.
By 1929, Lucky was running the east coast s largest bootlegging empire and emerged as one of two
Italian Mob bosses in New York City. In 1931, after the murder of the boss of bosses, or the King
of all mobsters, he had to change the ways the mafia did business or he would certainly face the
same fate. He used his Creator traits along with Intellectual Stimulation to create a National
Organized Crime syndicate, even though full of corruption, its people embraced mutual trust and
respect. Thomas N. Barnes Center for Enlisted Education [BCEE] (2016b) defines a Creator as
someone, who often can generate fresh, original concepts and new ideas in ways that defy
generally accepted structures or rules (BCEE, 2016b). Lucky exhibited this concept with his desire
to change the norm and create a national organized crime network to quell any conflicts, manage
disputes and establish guidelines between the different operations (Biography, 2016). The Full
Range Leadership lesson discusses Intellectual Stimulation as a leader who should encourage
people to brainstorm solutions and exercise their innovation and creativity (BCEE, 2016a). Lucky

Essay on Krik! Krak!
Between the pool and the Gardenias portrays the story of a poor woman that finds an abandoned
baby on the street and decides to keep her. The story is set in Haiti, a poor country consumed by
malnutrition, abandonment, and suffering. Edwidge Danticat uses the main character, a poor,
lower class, black woman from Ville Rose, to make a political commentary on the situation in Haiti.
The story suggests the desire of poor people to escape their harsh reality and become consumed in
a world outside their own.
Danticat makes various social commentaries in Between the Pool and the Gardenias. The story
begins by describing a baby left abandoned in the middle of the street. It seems she has been left
there for at least hours without anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the woman finds the baby, she acknowledges all the signs that the baby is dead but seems
to create a separate reality. She becomes delusional and takes the baby in as if it was hers;
feeding, bathing, and caring for it constantly. She even imagines that the house she is a mid in
belongs to her, the baby, and the pool man. In the end she says We made a pretty picture standing
there. Rose, me, and him. The woman s delusional state is provoked by her inability to maintain
a family. She desperately wanted a family of her own. The author constantly uses words like my
and mine that show possession. The woman s way of coping with tremendous loss and suffering
was creating an alternate world. Danticat adds the woman s escape from reality to portray the
desperate desire of Haitians to prosper from a life of poverty. Becoming delusional was the only
way many people could cope with the horrors of the government. Under the rule of Dictator Jean
Claude Baby Doc Duvalier, Haiti underwent horrific and traumatizing events. Many hatians like
the woman of the story, learned to disconnect herself from the ghastly situations and escape into a
better life. Danticat adds another example of this in the story. She describes My grandmother
Defile who died with a bald head in a prison because God had given her wings. Her grandmother
had been a victim of the 1937 massacre at the border of Dominican Republic.

The Events Of World War I Essay
World War One Name Institutional Affiliation World War One Introduction World War One was
a global war that emanated in Europe. The war lasted for four years from 1914 to 1918. More
than seven million civilians and 9.5 million military fighters died during the war. The war
resulted in a political shift in the nations that were involved. The war left the world s strongest
countries polarized into two camps, the Allies and the Central Powers of Austria Hungary and
Germany. Causes of World War One Several reasons have been given for the start of the First
World War and historians are still debating these reasons today. However, it is evident to
historians that the trigger of the war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and his wife in June
1914 (Duffy, 2009). Before the assassination, Ferdinand was the Austrian archduke and heir to the
Austrian throne. Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian citizen and revolutionary, assassinated the couple. The
assassination was carried out as a Serbian retaliation for Austria s control of Bosnia and
Herzegovinia, territories that the Serbians believed were rightfully theirs. The assassination
resulted in the July Crisis of 1914 that eventually led to the First World War. The assassination was
merely a trigger while the following are some of the reasons that have been attributed to the start of
the war. 1.Alliances Years before the war eventually started, the European powers had already
begun making alliances amongst

Drug Trafficking In Venezuela
Drug trafficking is a big global issue drugs are manufactured and then illegally distributed all over
the globe. The most common drugs being trafficked are cocaine and opiates, and they tend to
originate from South America and Asia. Back in 2016, the Spanish Guardia Civil began an
international investigation on a group they suspected was trafficking drugs in sailboats. The
investigators were able to intercept one of these sailboats and found a false bottom that had 400kg
(around 880 lbs) of cocaine hidden. Continuing the investigation, the team found that those sailboats
were part of a bigger, two part operation of drugtrafficking and money laundering, which was being
overseen by a Spaniard hiding in Venezuela. The first part of the operation

Pick two or three settings from The Great Gatsby and explain their significance to the novel.
Settings are given in every novel being important as it helps the reader understand the story
better. The settings in The Great Gatsby are specifically very significant as it superbly fits with
the storyline. The story is set in the early 1920s in New york because it focuses on the society of
that time and is particularly focused on the factors such as prohibition of alcohol, the glamour of
new york and also the way that Tom, Nick Gatsby and daisy all escape from the mid west, a small

They both use the city to hide their goings on from the people they value on Long Island. In the
story, there is a distinction between West Egg, where Long Island is located, and East Egg on
the other side. The people who live in West Egg are considered to be the recently developed
wealthy individuals. Moreover, separated by a long river, on the other side is East Egg where
people made of generations of wealth live. However, Fitzgerald tells us, in Nicks point of view,
directly that East Egg is the wealthier, more elite of the two. Despite all his money, Gatsby lives
in West Egg, suggesting that he has not been able to complete his transformation into a member
of the social upper class society. Tom and Daisy are apart of the East Egg society being an
example of a typical couple living there being overindulged. We learn that Daisy being a mother
is not responsible or mature for her age. She introduces her daughter to her friends for a few
minutes and then claims momma wanted to show you off. This shows that Daisy being an East
sider has taken a lot for granted, she has a nurse to take care of the daughter instead of being a
mother herself. The distance that separates Gatsby from Daisy lies across the span of water
between their houses the very distance between West Egg and East Egg, representing a barrier
between the two lovers. Valley of ashes shows the less happier side of the American Dream. Wilson

Methods of Persuasion: The methods of persuasion used in the jury session consisted of Davis s

Explain Why Akhenaten Moved His Capital to Amarna
Historians views as to why Akhenaten moved his capital to Amarna are distinctly contrasted, and
the suggestions are numerous. These include three predominant theories promoted by various
historians with divergent views of Akhenaten. These theories are all conceptually based on the
concept of Akhenaten using Amarna to develop his religious ideals. Firstly, it is believed that
having his revolutionary religious reforms reached their goals; Akhenatenemployed the city of
Amarna as an escape from Amun dominated Thebes. This would remove the distractions of other
Gods and Deities still around in Thebes, and leave people free to worship the Aten. Secondly it is
suggested that Akhenaten repositioned his capital to Amarna in order to escape the... Show more

Akhenaten s ancestry, together with his claimed unlimited personal force of character suggested he
would not allow himself to be set aside by the priesthood. Breasted says that Akhenaten moved his
capital to Amarna endeavouring to displace it by the nationalism which had preceded it for twenty
centuries. This further illustrates the possibility of a feud between the two aspects of Government.
Aldred resolutely rejects this suggestion, saying The idea of a struggle between an enlightened and
progressive king on the one side and a reactionary and scheming priesthood on the other, will
simply not stand up to closer scrutiny . Aldred also suggests that a mere technicality in theology
was all that separated Akhenaten s religion from that of Egyptian traditionalists . According to
Aldred, the priesthood and the administration were as indissolubly linked as they ever had been .
However he says clear distinction of power still remained, as demonstrated by Akhenaten s ability to
subsequently reduce the status of the priesthood, his mere surrogates . This is a transparent
contradiction, Aldred

Elasticity Of Demand And Supply
Elasticity of Demand and Supply
INTRODUCTION:
Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in another is the
measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using Elasticities, we can measure the two
markets of price and quantity. The difference among markets can be quantified by the economist
using elasticities without the measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable
(demand or supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how
advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate value flexibility
of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of interest and pay flexibility of
interest.
The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price.
Elasticity of Demand :
Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic measures is based
on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when there is change in the price. With
respect to price it is the quantity demanded responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a
case in the below figure, where there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see
that, the quantity decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many
reasons for this On the off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast changes in cost won
t do particularly to the amount requested. For example,

Fate Versus the Will of Juno Essays
Virgil is considered the most renowned Latin poet, according to the work Divine Intervention,
Supremacy of Fate in The Aeneid. He is the writer of the epic poem The Aeneid. Virgil s epic is a
continuation of Homer s The Iliad. The Aeneid is very much like The Iliad. In The Iliad, the men
and gods are a driving power of the Trojan War, as are the men and gods a driving power of Aeneas
s
journey in The Aeneid, but there is a stronger power driving Aeneas on his journey. It is the same
power to which the characters of The Iliad are subject, and that is the power of fate. In The Aeneid

fate will prevail ( Divine 2). Jupiter represents fate and Juno is the antagonist, comments Woodworth

According to Divine Intervention, Supremacy of Fate in The Aeneid , Aeneas s mother Venus

Venus worries that the Trojans will not be accepted at the city of Carthage. Before Aeneas arrives

Dido, Queen of Carthage, fall madly in love with Aeneas. The plan works very well. Juno sees
Dido s love for Aeneas as opportunity to delay his journey to Italy ( Divine 2). According to
Virgil, one day while Dido and Aeneas are hunting in the forest, Juno summons a storm (101).
Dido and Aeneas take cover in a cave. They both sleep together while in the cave. Dido considers
this a marriage (Virgil 102). Juno now hopes Aeneas will not leave Carthage. By not leaving,

What Is Confucianism A Common Cultural Factor

Confucianism is a common cultural factor that many Asian countries share and it is shown to be an
influencing factor in rising economic development in Asia. These three articles discusses how
Confucianism is closely related to the economic development of Asia.

Gong and Jang continues to criticize three theoretical approach on Asian success: the neo
Confucianism theory, revisionist authoritarian state theory and neo Weberian development theory.
Neo Confucianism theory shows that characteristics of Confucian ethics, which emphasizes on
group orientation, social cohesion, harmony and cooperation contribute positively on economic
development of capitalist society. However, it also contains some limitations. The neo
Confucianism approach over generalize that Confucianism has affected East Asian countries in the
same manner; which is not true. Also, Confucianism includes many different values and it is
difficult to choose which value has affected the economic success the most. The second theory,
revisionist Authoritarian state theory suggests culture as a factor that is restricted to certain
conditions, which explains why authoritarian states of East Asia have succeeded in significant
economic development while same strong states in other regions such as Latin America have not.
East Asian countries have pursued Confucian ethics that emphasizes on harmony, conformity to

Prohibition Movement Research Paper
The numerous parallels between the prohibition of alcohol and the current drug war are uncanny.
The primary groups leading the prohibition movement were the Women s Christian Temperance
Union (WCTU) and the Anti Saloon League (ASL). Both groups represented large, religious non

high pressure tactics and effectively ousted politicians who didn t vote accordingly. In fact, the ASL

Hitler s Mistakes In The Battle Of Dunkirk
Throughout Hitler s reign over Germany, he made several major mistakes. His first major mistake
was his inability to quickly annihilate Britain in the battle of Dunkirk, whom ultimately contributed
to the German defeat. The battle of Dunkirk took place during the summer of 1940, beginning May
26th to June 4th. At this point, Germanyhad Britain, France, and Poland surrounded, but Hitler
did not order his troops to engage because he wanted to please a potential ally, the Russians.
Stalin (Russian leader) did not trust Hitler and was prepared in advance for war with Germany.
Hitler always kept in mind that he would eventually attack Russia, which he did later on in the
war. So, by having Russia on his side, he would not only have the biggest country in the world at
his fingertips but it would be easier to eventually take it over. In order to... Show more content on

This battle took place from June 22 to December 5, 1941 and demonstrates how Germany broke
their pact with Russia. This opened up the Eastern front, meaning the German s would have to
fight on two fronts instead of one. Hitler made an mistake attacking Russia in the first place, but
to make it worse, he gave Stalin enough time to build his defences during Hitler s decision to not
eliminate the British during the battle of Dunkirk. His strategy of invading Russia was over
before the two forces even fought. There was no reason for the pact between Germany and
Russia to break as Russia was not a threat to Germany at this point. Hitler s greedy, anti
communist views overpowered him when he realized he had conquered most of Europe. Hitler did
not think that the other democratic countries would side with Russia. He rushed his plans and it
resulted in a defeat. He would have ultimately been better off breaking the pact when he conquered
the other empires who were more of a threat to the Germans first. This is another example of how
unqualified Hitler was as a

Flaws In Othello
The flaws within the human condition engage audiences through the dramatic treatment of these
flaws despite the transversal shift of time. The flaws in humanity offer an insight within the
dramatic treatments of it. The works of Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Othello the Moor of Venice
continues to captivate audiences through time proving its relatability to today s society just as it
had been during to the Elizabethan audience. This is due to the relatability through the exploration
of the universal flaws within humanity and the treatment of it through the themes racism and
jealousy. The use of play techniques constructs a continuous engagement in audiences despite the
contextual shifts of time.

Through Iago s similarity to Machiavellian tactics, Iago is known as the master of deceptions in
Othello s downfall. Iago s deceiving nature is expressed in, I follow him to serve my turn upon
him. Exploits the duplicitous nature of Iago in allusion to Janus, the roman god of two faces
where Iago believes that in order to gain power, he needs Othello s trust. This explores one s
ability to be duplicitous in order to act in return for a greater gain. The gardening analogy, We

and corrigible authority of this lies in our wills. Displays Iago s role as the gardener through his
ability to manipulate and plant seeds of doubt and jealousy within Othello in order to manipulate

Samual Taylor Colerigde describes Iago as being next to the devil and only not quite the devil in
reference of the irony, Honest Iago reflects the destructive nature of jealousy and how it can lead
one, who many believe to be noble to extremes just to obtain what they believe they deserve

The use of collagen, alginate, and chitin fibers have increased in medical and surgical applications
due to the promotion of healing (Pillai, Paul, Sharma, 2009). When alginate fibers are used for

Our company, SM, as many of you may already know, came from the hard work of my dad,

Specific Heat Lab Report
Have you ever wondered why a fire burns orange, or why a lighter burns blue towards the bottom of
the flame? If we take a quick step back, this is mostly due to a chemical reaction that is known as
the specific heat . This must be achieved (as well as the other two properties that every fire is
required to possess in order to burn) in order for a flameto become present. After this specific heat
is reached, a chemical reaction occurs and turns the fuel source of the fireinto a vapor. The aspects
that are required for a flame to be created are a heat source, some sort of fuel, as well as some
sort of oxidizing agent. The only way that a change in flame color can be observed is by
manipulating the fuel source. After we manipulate the source

In A.D Harvey s article Frankenstein and Caleb Williams, he explains that Mary Shelley s famous
work, Frankenstein; was not intended to be of any actual scientific evidence, but rather written just
only with the intention of a gothic horror piece we will each write a ghost story (Frankenstein
Author s introduction vii). Harvey s target is to reach out to the science community and to sway
them to look past the mechanics of how Frankensteins monster is created and focus on other points
of interest. Harvey formerly goes into an analysis of Shelley s monster story before giving a
literary compare and contrast with Godwin s Caleb Williams. In A.D Harvey s essay, his main
claim is that there is more to the novel of Frankenstein on the controversial issue on how the
monster was created (A.D. Harvey. 24). I agree that the author s analysis of A.D Harvey s essay
about Frankenstein provides evidence that there is more to the novel other than science on how
Frankenstein the monster was created. What Harvey does well in his essay is how he shifted the
focus of Marry Shelley s work with logical reasoning while showing how it is just gothic novel,
not a revolution to a scientific era. In the beginning of the essay Harvey says, Mary Shelley was no
scientist, and her novel has no roots in science (21). What he means by this is that Shelley is just
writing a horror story and that she did not intend to infringe upon the scientific community. What
this does is lets the reader know

Now, coming out with this definition in our minds, we begin to grasp some knowledge about the
reality about Eschatology, especially the way we can bring down the meaning of this word in the
context that we live and adapt to in our community. However, we must have in mind that we must
see death differently as Kubler Ross explained;
The problem of death is a universal human question. But the answer to that question differs among
cultures. In addition to different ways of dealing with those members of the culture who are dying,
different human societies have also offered a variety of explanations for the phenomenon of death
and its meaning for human existence.
As Christian we can see that all these words correlate with each other as we now look into our
traditional belief to Eschatology and the way we interpret them accordingly.

church ponders upon this belief, it started to fade away from people s mentality.

Informative Speech About Ebola
Today I will be writing about Ebola and if it will become a worldwide pandemic.
To start off, I will briefly explain what Ebola is. Ebola (also known as Ebola Virus Disease or
EVD) is a severe virus that started in late 1996 and was first misdiagnosed as a new form of
malaria. I can understand why they diagnosed the patients with malaria, the early symptoms were
similar, but the main reason is that they never knew Ebola even existed. Soon after, 1st September
to be more precise, there was a large outbreak and there were approximately [1]280 deaths and
only 38 confirmed survivors. The Ebola virus can spread very easily even though it is not
airborne, though it is waterborne and can be passed on through close contact as well as STD s
and through mother to child. The area that has been most infected is in Africa because of the lack
of facilities and healthcare staff available in the area as well as poor training. Another reason is
that the burial rituals include kissing touching and close contact. This causes Ebola to spread faster
since it can stay on a dead persons body for up to six months
There are many symptoms for Ebola including the following;
[2] Fever
Severe headache
Joint and muscle aches
Chills
Weakness
Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhoea (may be bloody)
Red eyes
Raised rash
Chest pain and cough
Stomach pain
Severe weight loss
Bleeding, usually from the eyes, and bruising (people near death may bleed from other orifices,
such as ears, nose, and rectum)

Success Is The Highest Level Of Success
In our society, everyone has their own interpretations of success. The Oxford English Dictionary
defines success as the attainment of an object according to one s desire: now often with
particular reference to the attainment of wealth or position (Success). According to this
definition, one must be affluent or materialistic to be considered successful. However, one does
not need money to be considered successful in our society. Success is very subjective, so
everyone has their own definition of it. Someone who is very wealthy might consider their
fortune to be the highest level of success while someone who just received a promotion at work
might consider that to be the highest level of success. Money is only able to buy physical
objects which aren t considered an achievement. Ultimately, reaching a goal, having a
recognized career, and using the wealth for philanthropic work are good measures of success.
Everyone has a set of objectives for their personal or professional life and completion of these
goals is considered as being successful. Ever since my family moved to the United States, my
father s goal was to become an American citizen. After living here for over four years, he was
eligible to apply which he did. In order to achieve his goal of passing the citizenship test, my father

Guy de Maupassant Writes in Third Person
In third person, the narrator is like another character that can see everyone in the story s point of
view. This way, the author can tell you what all of the characters are thinking. A writer s choice
of a type of narrator is crucial for the way a story is perceived by the reader. Guy de Maupassant
uses a third person limited perspective and the narrator reveals the thoughts and feelings of one
character. Explicit narration directly reveals the main character s internal and external conflict.
Guy de Maupassant s limited third person narrator creates a vivid character, struggling to
acknowledge her lower class and teaches a powerful theme about the dangers of envy . The
symbolism throughout the story strengthens Mathilde s internal conflict about being in a lower
class. Guy de Maupassant uses a third person limited narrator to characterize the depressed,
ungrateful character, Mathilde, who is consumed with envy. Mathilde is described as pessimistic
and jealous of wealthy, elegant women. Beautiful Mathilde Loisel was born into a family of
clerks, and her utter conviction that her place in life is a mistake of destiny leads her to live her
life in a constant rebellion against her circumstances. Her desire for wealth is a constant pain and

Optical Ofdm For Passive Optical Network
1.Introduction
2.Optical OFDM for Passive optical networks
The high speed broadband penetration and ongoing growth of the Internet traffic among customers
have been the key reasons that are driving the rapid emergence and deployment of optical access
networks as a basic bearer network that supports hybrids services for multiple customers while
bearing huge capacity. Passive optical network is the most interesting solution for the optical
access network to cope with the increasing bandwidth demand and to meet the cost effectiveness.
PON can be used for Point to point (P2P) or Point to multi point (P2MP) configurations. The P2P
structure builds a dedicated fiber from a CO to each subscriber which constitutes an ultimate
solution to provide much needed bandwidth to each ONU. In P2MP topologies, the feeder fiber is
shared between various customers and terminates at a central office in an Optical Line Terminal.
Passive splitters put between the OLT and the ONU are used to split the connection to multiple end
points, thus enormously reduces the maintaining cost. Two key technologies are used in passive
optical network: the first one known as TDM PON uses Time Division Multiplexing to multiplex
traffic from/to multiple ONUs onto the upstream/downstream wavelength. It requires complex
scheduling algorithms and framing technology to support a variety of services. The second is
Wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network WDM PON . This technology comes to
extend the

Persistence and Qualitative Change
Persistence and qualitative change
The metaphysical idea of and object persisting over time brings rise to a lot of debate on how we
can properly identify a thing as it experiences qualitative change over time. The main issue that
arises when talking about persistence over time is whether we can identify the initial thing we are
observing as a different entity as time progresses and it undergoes qualitative change. For example
is some thing we identify as x , that goes through a qualitative change at time T1, the same as the
thing x at time T2 after the change was implemented. There are many different views on this topic
and I will introduce three of them and then select the one I think is most probable. The first view is
the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My initial thoughts about this is that is similar to a mathematical function were you can get a y
value (current state) for every x value (position in time) and that you only get to see the whole
function when you graph all x,y relations . Also the direction of the graph can change (qualitative
Change) depending on the function.
The three problems that arise with this theory is the assumption that the notion of time is non
existent and that a thing can never represent itself at any one time because by the very definition
of this theory it would be insufficient in representing itself. The time issue is a consequence of a
thing not being a whole thing unless it s dispersed over time therefor a thing is only itself when
time is one frame . Using algebra to explain what I mean I can say that an object Q is equal to Q
only when the sum of all times t is equal to 1 because Q is equal to the sum of all Q s
corresponding to all times t . The third issue is that it denies that anything changes (by our
definition of change as a function of time) because it denies that time is ongoing. This theory is
not empirically supported because obviously we see time as being ongoing and infinite also it is
an overly complicated explanation for what we seek.
The last theory is called the no persistence theory and it states that an object x does not persist
through time

due to the recent innovation of working quad rotor drones versus the typical single fixed blade

stability and hover ability, at the cost of reduced speed (Rothstein, 2015). This stability and hover

Analyzing Donald Crews s Freight Train
I was thrilled to see Freight Train by Donald Crews on our reading list for this week! The books
use of bright colors contrasting with dark shapes and lines drew me to this book. On the front
cover we see a steam engine pulling train cars with gradient smoke coming from the chimney. The
steam engine and cars are flat, geometric, shapes helping anchor them to the track. The billows of
smoke are organic as they rise into the air. I can now see there is not only bright versus dark but a
hard versus soft quality going on that will continue to stay throughout the book. As, I turn the page

Philbert Narrative
Philbert is known as a comedy guy at his school, a little school named Rocky middle school in
the middle of Mississippi. All that s on Philberts mind is that it s the end of the semester and he

awkwardly quiet, not the average guy that likes peace sometimes, I can t go an hour without
some kind of action(unless I m going to sleep ) so as soon as I went to go find my mom. Mom, I

would be best to keep shut. Mom where are you . Philbert exclaimed. Usually, if he wasn t
already getting scolded, he would, at least, have a shut your trap son, I m busy . He went
upstairs to see if she was sleeping or something.Nata. He went out to the garden and saw one of
the most horrible things he s ever seen in his life. His mom was on the ground with massive
amounts of blood coming from her head. She was bleeding out. Mom! Philbert was frozen in fear.

Tax Court Case Analysis
Manager/analyst could deduct MBA costs that didn t qualify him for new trade or business
Long, TC Summary Opinion 2016 88TC Summary Opinion 2016 88
In a Summary Opinion, the Tax Court has determined that a taxpayer could deduct the costs of
obtaining a master of business administration (MBA) as unreimbursed employee expenses. The
Court found that the MBA didn t qualify him for a new profession but rather refined his existing
business and investment skills that he used in his former managerial position, and it further
concluded that the taxpayer remained in the same trade or business before and after attaining the
degree.

The Court found that, while Long couldn t deduct his education costs in connection with his real
estate activity as he originally claimed, he could deduct them as unreimbursed employee expenses.
While IRS conceded that the degree wasn t incurred to meet the minimum educational
requirements of Long s trade or business, it asserted that the expenses were nondeductible because
Long s MBA qualified him for a new trade or business. Specifically, IRS argued that the MBA
enabled him to acquire the senior research analyst position with Connective Capital, noting that the
job posting stated a preference for MBA holders.
The Court, however, rejected this argument and found that Long was in the same trade or
business before enrolling in the MBA program and remained in that trade or business when he
took on the new position at Connective Capital. He was qualified in financial analysis through
his studies and personal investment experience before enrolling in the MBA program in May
2010, as demonstrated by his passing the CAIA and CFA exams before enrolling, and he was also
developing financial skills as general partner of the investment partnership. IRS also emphasized
that Long didn t become a CFA charter holder or a CAIA member until 2012, but the Court
accepted Long s explanation that the annual fees were costly and just passing the exams was
sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and

Eukaryotic Cell Structure
Prokaryotes were the first organisms on earth. Millions of years later, eukaryotes would exist
through evolution. Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are different in regards to structure and size.
Prokaryotic cells are not as complex as eukaryotic cells. To begin with, prokaryotic cells do not
have a nucleus. The DNAis enclosed in the capsule of the prokaryotic cell. In contrast, the
eukaryotic cell has a nucleus which contains the DNA. The eukaryotic cell is much larger than the
prokaryotic cell. The eukaryotic cell is roughly a thousand times the size of a prokaryotic cell
(Singh Cundy, A., Shin, G., 2015). The prokaryotic cell stores its DNA within the cytosol, inside
the capsule. The capsule protects the shape and structure of the cell. Inside the cell wall is the
plasma membrane, which contains the plasma membrane. Within the plasma membrane is the
cytosol and ribosomes. Attached to the cell is the flagellum. The flagellum is a whip like tail that
helps the cell move (Singh Cundy, A., Shin, G., 2015).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Membrane enclosed organelles perform specific tasks within the cell. As noted earlier, enclosed in

connected to the nuclear envelop. Also located within the eukaryotic cell is the Golgi apparatus.
The Golgi apparatus has the appearance of flattened membrane sacs that are stacked together
(Singh Cundy, A., Shin, G., 2015). In animal cells, lysosomes exist within the cytoplasm. In plant
cells, a large vacuole exists. The mitochondria is pod shaped, and located within the cytoplasm.
Chloroplasts are green pods which are also located within the

Net Neutrality And The Internet
The internet is under attack by large corporations like your internet provider trying to slow down
services like Netflix and other entertainment platforms and the reason they do this is to try and get
people to switch over to their services.
The internet will change in a negative way in the future due to things like corporations attacking net
neutrality, and privacy issues. It will also become more focused on selling products rather than
educating the public with its wide range of information. The internet is in danger of being taken
over by large corporations trying to get rid of net neutrality. Allowing corporations to charge more

For some reason, Becquerel decided to develop his photographic plates anyway. To his surprise, the
images were strong and clear, proving that the uranium emitted radiation without an external source
of energy such as the sun. Becquerel had discovered radioactivity.
Becquerel used an apparatus similar to that displayed below to show that the radiation he
discovered could not be x rays. X rays are neutral and cannot be bent in a magnetic field. The new
radiation was bent by the magnetic field so that the radiation must be charged and different than x
rays. When different radioactive substances were put in the magnetic field, they deflected in
different directions or not at all, showing that there were three classes of radioactivity: negative,
positive, and electrically neutral.
The term radioactivity was actually named by Marie Curie, who together with her husband Pierre,
began investigating the phenomenon recently discovered by Becquerel. The Curies extracted
uranium from ore and to their surprise, found that the leftover ore showed more activity than the
pure uranium. They concluded that the ore contained other radioactive elements. This led to the
discoveries of the elements polonium and radium. It took four more years of processing tons of ore
to isolate enough of each element to determine their chemical properties.
Ernest Rutherford, who did many experiments studying the properties of radioactive decay, named

The current economy not only gives the customer more choices but also provides more information
needed to make those choices. We know that new products must satisfy the customer s needs, but
identifying these needs can be very challenging. No one understands this challenge better than Kim
Fernandez.
In our case we find the following characters and companies:
Kim Fernandez Its Alta Dena certified Dairy Company.. Kim Fernandez, director of natural food

The prospect who believes that natural dairy products have a short shelf like may be reluctant to
carry her line of products.
Question Number 2:
What aspects of the need satisfaction theory has Kim Fernandez incorporated into her approach to
customers? Explain.
According to the need satisfaction theory, the role of the professional salesperson is to identify the
needs of the customers and then recommend a product or service that satisfies them. Salespeople
should conduct a systematic assessment of the prospect s situation. This usually involves collecting
as much information as possible and using a series of careful questions to obtain the customer s
point of view. Answers to the questions help the salespeople pinpoint the insight needs of the
customers.
The key basic beliefs that serve as foundation stones for need satisfaction theory are the following:
A mutual exchange of feelings, ideas and perceptions between the buyers and the sellers exists.
Systematic inquiry is necessary to establish the individual needs of unique customers.
Salespeople take a two way advocacy position, representing the interest of the company and of their
clients with the equal dignity and skill. High performing salespeople bring the sales task a genuine
sensitivity for the customers needs.
In some cases, the salespeople reach the conclusion that the product does not provide the best
solution. In these situations, salespeople should

Data Center Assurance Program Project
Process Analysis
Cisco Systems went ahead with modified version of waterfall model for Data Center Assurance
Program (DCAP) project. Though waterfall model is old and have less success rate, it suited
DCAP project quite well. As the goals and scope of the project is fixed throughout the project
and release cycles are about 6 8 months it is easy to use waterfall model. Partial overlap between
various phases existed. This allowed for parallel execution of few tasks and helped in effective
resource utilization and on time project delivery. All the engineers are involved in all the stages of
the project. Also there any enough resources to replace the ones who left the project. Standard
disaster recovery practices of a real time production data center are not fallowed, but those required
for the project to replicate the real time scenario are used. For instance, to make sure the real time
environment like distance between two data centers, wan emulators are used.
Effectiveness of Initial Planning The detailed analysis of requirements and studying the real time
scenario by visiting customer s location proved to be good in refining project goals. No all the
project members are given opportunity to study customer s environment which is practiced due to
budget issues. The decision to fallow modified version of water fall model fitted the project quite
well. But the overlapping of the phases is not quite long and proved deficient. This resulted in
ineffective resource utilization.

Penn State Scandal Research Paper
The Penn State scandal was the worst in the history of college sports and shocked our country.
This of course had penalties by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) against
Penn State University. Many people wondered why four of the most powerful people President
Graham B. Spanier, Senior Vice President Finance and Business Gary C. Schultz, Athletic
Director Timothy M. Curley and Head Football Coach Joseph V. Paterno at the University did
not come forward and report this scandal. They did not report the activities to the Board of
Trustees, but they did report it to the authorities. They did do enough to prevent this from
continuing the predatory behavior. Were the reasons the four did not report it because they did
not want to embarrass their stakeholders and the university? Or did they want to be discreet since
it was an employee of 30 years? Or was it a crisis that they did not know how to manage? These
are questions that will continue to be asked. These university officials went into crisis mode, but

investigation was closed. It was reported a second time, this time by Mike McQueary, a Penn
State Asst. Coach on February 9, 2001. He said he witnessed a sexual encounter in the showers
on campus by Sandusky on a 10 year old. Paterno met with Curly and Schultz Sunday February

behavior he shows towards young boys. He was advised not to bring any more young boys in any

The natural order of life is the balance signaling there is always a price to pay for an achievement.
In line with the explosion of the information and technology development, the quality of life has
been literally perceived as jumping onto a higher level of realm. But on the other side of the scale is
the humanity, the price to pay for such an advance achievement. Consequently there is the need to

Good communications skills will no longer go verbally but upon a long sour facial expression, or
even in written form. Verbal communication has always been the best medium in delivering day to
day conversation, sharing thoughts and ideologies, thus nurturing a good social responsibility
among the society. With verbal communication at stake, the social responsibility has also being
driven onto the cliff, just a step towards rolling down the hill. We can no longer practice good
discussions skills, daily conversations are no longer moderate. There is a call to climb back the cliff
to rectify the problems. It is belief the implementation of the employee monitoring system can
enhance the information transferring system thus improving the communication system. With the
widespread of such working environment, next comes the misused of the communication and
information technology. Blackmail and poison pen letter have since become threats. Dissatisfaction
now leads to direct complaint to the superior without direct confrontation or discussion; even a
compliment can turn into a complaint with such scenario growing firm affectively in the habit
formation. Lot of reports has been lodged without thorough investigation, even worse when it is a
blind accusation where the innocents have to take on the blame. A bunch of ants can also be a

Reflective Commentary On Alison Bechdel s Fun Home
Creative Response Reflective Commentary
I reworked Daniel Defoe s Roxana in the graphic novel style of Alison Bechdel s Fun Home.
Initially, the reason I chose the two novels was to see how well the oldest text on the course could
be adapted into the newest. Interestingly the texts proved to be quite similar in narrative; both are
versions of autobiography (although one fictional and one true), both feature a retrospective first
person, self conscious narrator (Booth 155), and both centre around a female protagonist deviating
from societal norms of the time. Fittingly enough Roxana also mentions her father in the beginning,
although she leaves him dead quite quickly. Adapting a novelinto a graphic novel is a drastic
stylistic change, and my biggest concern was to keep my adaption steadily tied with the two texts,
whilst trying not to get too carried away in the creative process.
I based my process of making the comic on an interview with Alison Bechdel, where she explains
how she planned the text in Adobe Illustrator, sketched and inked by hand, and finally rendered
the panels digitally ( Alison Bechdel ). Like Bechdel, I relied extensively on Google images for
various details of 17th ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The italicised words and German capitalization gets lost in the all caps form of the graphic
novel, yet something lingers in terms of autonomy of the author. It has a disregard of normal
stylistic considerations affected not only by Defoe as a writer but also a progress towards a
more factual prose in the late seventeenth century (Watt 105). Nowadays, the fixed structure of
grammar allows for little waywardness in format, apart from in the graphic novel. Like Defoe, the
individual artist has a certain freedom of choice, affected only by general conventions, of where to
place the text and how to guide the reader it is an interesting case of a rare anarchic individuality in

  • 2. Federal Bureau of Investigation and White Collar Crimes White Collar Crime White Collar Crime White Collar Crimes are those illegal acts which are characterized by deceit, concealment, or violation of trust and which are not dependent upon the application or threat of physical force or violence. Individuals and organizations commit these acts to obtain money, property, or services; to avoid the payment or loss of money or services; or to secure personal or business advantage. ~Federal Bureau of Investigation More citizens around the world in the 21st century have a greater awareness and common knowledge or white collar crimes than in previous decades or centuries. In the west, Sutherland is known as the renowned sociologist who first publically announced and defined white collar crime around the beginning of World War II, though there is evidence of study and evidence of white collar crime present in the 19th century and before. The subject of white collar crime is one of moderate to serious contention, as even its consideration as a crime and its categorization within all of crime is debated fervently in the past and in the present. White collar crime is prevalent in the 21st century around the world, perhaps more so than in previous years because of the power and potential of technology to make possible and execute many examples of white collar crimes. Agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation additionally use technology as a means to prevent white collar crime as well as pursue white collar criminals. White ... • 4. Lucky Luciano Gangster Characteristics Charles Lucky Luciano Picture a person, someone with amazing leadership abilities, someone that has the potential to do virtuous things for the world. Now, I want you to picture this person wasting his/her talents by making unethical life decisions. Choices that caused harm to thousands of people. Now, imagine that the same person, and they actually think that what they do is ethical and that they didn t waste their talent. Would that be frustrating? Charles Lucky Luciano was born in Sicily, Italy in 1897 and moved to New York City in 1906 with his family. Like many 1st generation American immigrants, there was no silver spoon or easy road to the American dream. Lucky struggled in school and preferred the ideas of the street life. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A visionary leader, in my eyes, can see past certain societal limitations to advance the work climate and outlooks for all people he/she leads. By 1929, Lucky was running the east coast s largest bootlegging empire and emerged as one of two Italian Mob bosses in New York City. In 1931, after the murder of the boss of bosses, or the King of all mobsters, he had to change the ways the mafia did business or he would certainly face the same fate. He used his Creator traits along with Intellectual Stimulation to create a National Organized Crime syndicate, even though full of corruption, its people embraced mutual trust and respect. Thomas N. Barnes Center for Enlisted Education [BCEE] (2016b) defines a Creator as someone, who often can generate fresh, original concepts and new ideas in ways that defy generally accepted structures or rules (BCEE, 2016b). Lucky exhibited this concept with his desire to change the norm and create a national organized crime network to quell any conflicts, manage disputes and establish guidelines between the different operations (Biography, 2016). The Full Range Leadership lesson discusses Intellectual Stimulation as a leader who should encourage people to brainstorm solutions and exercise their innovation and creativity (BCEE, 2016a). • 5. Essay on Krik! Krak! Between the pool and the Gardenias portrays the story of a poor woman that finds an abandoned baby on the street and decides to keep her. The story is set in Haiti, a poor country consumed by malnutrition, abandonment, and suffering. Edwidge Danticat uses the main character, a poor, lower class, black woman from Ville Rose, to make a political commentary on the situation in Haiti. The story suggests the desire of poor people to escape their harsh reality and become consumed in a world outside their own. Danticat makes various social commentaries in Between the Pool and the Gardenias. The story begins by describing a baby left abandoned in the middle of the street. It seems she has been left there for at least hours without anyone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the woman finds the baby, she acknowledges all the signs that the baby is dead but seems to create a separate reality. She becomes delusional and takes the baby in as if it was hers; feeding, bathing, and caring for it constantly. She even imagines that the house she is a mid in belongs to her, the baby, and the pool man. In the end she says We made a pretty picture standing there. Rose, me, and him. The woman s delusional state is provoked by her inability to maintain a family. She desperately wanted a family of her own. The author constantly uses words like my and mine that show possession. The woman s way of coping with tremendous loss and suffering was creating an alternate world. Danticat adds the woman s escape from reality to portray the desperate desire of Haitians to prosper from a life of poverty. Becoming delusional was the only way many people could cope with the horrors of the government. Under the rule of Dictator Jean Claude Baby Doc Duvalier, Haiti underwent horrific and traumatizing events. Many hatians like the woman of the story, learned to disconnect herself from the ghastly situations and escape into a better life. Danticat adds another example of this in the story. She describes My grandmother Defile who died with a bald head in a prison because God had given her wings. Her grandmother had been a victim of the 1937 massacre at the border of Dominican Republic. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Events Of World War I Essay World War One Name Institutional Affiliation World War One Introduction World War One was a global war that emanated in Europe. The war lasted for four years from 1914 to 1918. More than seven million civilians and 9.5 million military fighters died during the war. The war resulted in a political shift in the nations that were involved. The war left the world s strongest countries polarized into two camps, the Allies and the Central Powers of Austria Hungary and Germany. Causes of World War One Several reasons have been given for the start of the First World War and historians are still debating these reasons today. However, it is evident to historians that the trigger of the war was the assassination of Franz Ferdinand and his wife in June 1914 (Duffy, 2009). Before the assassination, Ferdinand was the Austrian archduke and heir to the Austrian throne. Gavrilo Princip, a Bosnian citizen and revolutionary, assassinated the couple. The assassination was carried out as a Serbian retaliation for Austria s control of Bosnia and Herzegovinia, territories that the Serbians believed were rightfully theirs. The assassination resulted in the July Crisis of 1914 that eventually led to the First World War. The assassination was merely a trigger while the following are some of the reasons that have been attributed to the start of the war. 1.Alliances Years before the war eventually started, the European powers had already begun making alliances amongst ... They both use the city to hide their goings on from the people they value on Long Island. In the story, there is a distinction between West Egg, where Long Island is located, and East Egg on the other side. The people who live in West Egg are considered to be the recently developed wealthy individuals. Moreover, separated by a long river, on the other side is East Egg where people made of generations of wealth live. However, Fitzgerald tells us, in Nicks point of view, directly that East Egg is the wealthier, more elite of the two. Despite all his money, Gatsby lives in West Egg, suggesting that he has not been able to complete his transformation into a member of the social upper class society. Tom and Daisy are apart of the East Egg society being an example of a typical couple living there being overindulged. We learn that Daisy being a mother is not responsible or mature for her age. She introduces her daughter to her friends for a few minutes and then claims momma wanted to show you off. This shows that Daisy being an East sider has taken a lot for granted, she has a nurse to take care of the daughter instead of being a mother herself. The distance that separates Gatsby from Daisy lies across the span of water between their houses the very distance between West Egg and East Egg, representing a barrier between the two lovers. These include three predominant theories promoted by various historians with divergent views of Akhenaten. These theories are all conceptually based on the concept of Akhenaten using Amarna to develop his religious ideals. Firstly, it is believed that having his revolutionary religious reforms reached their goals; Akhenatenemployed the city of Amarna as an escape from Amun dominated Thebes. This would remove the distractions of other Gods and Deities still around in Thebes, and leave people free to worship the Aten. Akhenaten s ancestry, together with his claimed unlimited personal force of character suggested he would not allow himself to be set aside by the priesthood. Breasted says that Akhenaten moved his capital to Amarna endeavouring to displace it by the nationalism which had preceded it for twenty centuries. This further illustrates the possibility of a feud between the two aspects of Government. Aldred resolutely rejects this suggestion, saying The idea of a struggle between an enlightened and progressive king on the one side and a reactionary and scheming priesthood on the other, will simply not stand up to closer scrutiny . Aldred also suggests that a mere technicality in theology was all that separated Akhenaten s religion from that of Egyptian traditionalists . According to Aldred, the priesthood and the administration were as indissolubly linked as they ever had been . However he says clear distinction of power still remained, as demonstrated by Akhenaten s ability to subsequently reduce the status of the priesthood, his mere surrogates . • 14. Elasticity Of Demand And Supply Elasticity of Demand and Supply INTRODUCTION: Elasticity : In Economics, how responsive an economic variable is to a change in another is the measurement of elasticity. It is an unit free measure. By using Elasticities, we can measure the two markets of price and quantity. The difference among markets can be quantified by the economist using elasticities without the measurement of the units. It is the responsiveness of one variable (demand or supply) to a change in another (e.g. cost). This idea is basic to appreciating how advertises function. The most widely recognized versatilities utilized incorporate value flexibility of interest, value flexibility of supply, cross value flexibility of interest and pay flexibility of interest. The Equation of Elasticity is = % of change in quantity / % of change in price. Elasticity of Demand : Elasticity of Demand also referred to as Price Elasticity of Demand in Economic measures is based on the effect of how the quantity demanded is changed when there is change in the price. With respect to price it is the quantity demanded responsiveness degree. For example lets consider a case in the below figure, where there is elastic demand when the curve is almost flat. You can see that, the quantity decreases a lot if there is a change in price from $.75 to $1. There can be many reasons for this On the off chance that demand is extremely inelastic, then vast changes in cost won t do particularly to the amount requested. For example, ... He is the writer of the epic poem The Aeneid. Virgil s epic is a continuation of Homer s The Iliad. The Aeneid is very much like The Iliad. In The Iliad, the men and gods are a driving power of the Trojan War, as are the men and gods a driving power of Aeneas s journey in The Aeneid, but there is a stronger power driving Aeneas on his journey. It is the same power to which the characters of The Iliad are subject, and that is the power of fate. In The Aeneid the men and gods draw the battle lines. Cupid is told to use his gifts to make Dido, Queen of Carthage, fall madly in love with Aeneas. The plan works very well. Juno sees Dido s love for Aeneas as opportunity to delay his journey to Italy ( Divine 2). According to Virgil, one day while Dido and Aeneas are hunting in the forest, Juno summons a storm (101). Ebola (also known as Ebola Virus Disease or EVD) is a severe virus that started in late 1996 and was first misdiagnosed as a new form of malaria. I can understand why they diagnosed the patients with malaria, the early symptoms were similar, but the main reason is that they never knew Ebola even existed. Soon after, 1st September to be more precise, there was a large outbreak and there were approximately [1]280 deaths and only 38 confirmed survivors. The Ebola virus can spread very easily even though it is not airborne, though it is waterborne and can be passed on through close contact as well as STD s and through mother to child. The area that has been most infected is in Africa because of the lack of facilities and healthcare staff available in the area as well as poor training. Another reason is that the burial rituals include kissing touching and close contact. This causes Ebola to spread faster since it can stay on a dead persons body for up to six months There are many symptoms for Ebola including the following; [2] Fever Severe headache Joint and muscle aches Chills Weakness Nausea and vomiting Diarrhoea (may be bloody) Red eyes Raised rash Chest pain and cough Stomach pain Severe weight loss Bleeding, usually from the eyes, and bruising (people near death may bleed from other orifices, such as ears, nose, and rectum) Internal bleeding ... Working At The Country Club During my sophomore year of high school, one of my teachers approached me and asked if I was interested in a job for the summer at the country of a local country club. While I was nervous at first, I accepted the job, and have now completed two successful summers there. The experience of having a summer job taught me many things; and as I continued to take on more and more responsibilities over the summer, I learned even more about how to be responsible at all times and to empathize with someone in order to understand their perspective and to help improve their experience. One of the many responsibilities of my job was to help prepare billing statements for the members of the country club. This taught me to be responsible at all times, as even the slightest mistake could result in a member being overcharged or undercharged which could lead to a number of other problems for both the member and the club.... • 38. Success Is The Highest Level Of Success In our society, everyone has their own interpretations of success. The Oxford English Dictionary defines success as the attainment of an object according to one s desire: now often with particular reference to the attainment of wealth or position (Success). According to this definition, one must be affluent or materialistic to be considered successful. However, one does not need money to be considered successful in our society. Success is very subjective, so everyone has their own definition of it. Someone who is very wealthy might consider their fortune to be the highest level of success while someone who just received a promotion at work might consider that to be the highest level of success. Money is only able to buy physical objects which aren t considered an achievement. Ultimately, reaching a goal, having a recognized career, and using the wealth for philanthropic work are good measures of success. Everyone has a set of objectives for their personal or professional life and completion of these goals is considered as being successful. Ever since my family moved to the United States, my father s goal was to become an American citizen. After living here for over four years, he was eligible to apply which he did. • 39. Guy de Maupassant Writes in Third Person In third person, the narrator is like another character that can see everyone in the story s point of view. This way, the author can tell you what all of the characters are thinking. A writer s choice of a type of narrator is crucial for the way a story is perceived by the reader. Guy de Maupassant uses a third person limited perspective and the narrator reveals the thoughts and feelings of one character. Explicit narration directly reveals the main character s internal and external conflict. Guy de Maupassant s limited third person narrator creates a vivid character, struggling to acknowledge her lower class and teaches a powerful theme about the dangers of envy . The symbolism throughout the story strengthens Mathilde s internal conflict about being in a lower class. Guy de Maupassant uses a third person limited narrator to characterize the depressed, ungrateful character, Mathilde, who is consumed with envy. Mathilde is described as pessimistic and jealous of wealthy, elegant women. Beautiful Mathilde Loisel was born into a family of clerks, and her utter conviction that her place in life is a mistake of destiny leads her to live her life in a constant rebellion against her circumstances. • 40. Optical Ofdm For Passive Optical Network 1.Introduction 2.Optical OFDM for Passive optical networks The high speed broadband penetration and ongoing growth of the Internet traffic among customers have been the key reasons that are driving the rapid emergence and deployment of optical access networks as a basic bearer network that supports hybrids services for multiple customers while bearing huge capacity. Passive optical network is the most interesting solution for the optical access network to cope with the increasing bandwidth demand and to meet the cost effectiveness. PON can be used for Point to point (P2P) or Point to multi point (P2MP) configurations. The P2P structure builds a dedicated fiber from a CO to each subscriber which constitutes an ultimate solution to provide much needed bandwidth to each ONU. In P2MP topologies, the feeder fiber is shared between various customers and terminates at a central office in an Optical Line Terminal. Passive splitters put between the OLT and the ONU are used to split the connection to multiple end points, thus enormously reduces the maintaining cost. Two key technologies are used in passive optical network: the first one known as TDM PON uses Time Division Multiplexing to multiplex traffic from/to multiple ONUs onto the upstream/downstream wavelength. It requires complex scheduling algorithms and framing technology to support a variety of services. The second is Wavelength division multiplexing passive optical network WDM PON . This technology comes to extend the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Persistence and Qualitative Change Persistence and qualitative change The metaphysical idea of and object persisting over time brings rise to a lot of debate on how we can properly identify a thing as it experiences qualitative change over time. The main issue that arises when talking about persistence over time is whether we can identify the initial thing we are observing as a different entity as time progresses and it undergoes qualitative change. For example is some thing we identify as x , that goes through a qualitative change at time T1, the same as the thing x at time T2 after the change was implemented. There are many different views on this topic and I will introduce three of them and then select the one I think is most probable. The first view is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My initial thoughts about this is that is similar to a mathematical function were you can get a y value (current state) for every x value (position in time) and that you only get to see the whole function when you graph all x,y relations . Also the direction of the graph can change (qualitative Change) depending on the function. The three problems that arise with this theory is the assumption that the notion of time is non existent and that a thing can never represent itself at any one time because by the very definition of this theory it would be insufficient in representing itself. The time issue is a consequence of a thing not being a whole thing unless it s dispersed over time therefor a thing is only itself when time is one frame . Using algebra to explain what I mean I can say that an object Q is equal to Q only when the sum of all times t is equal to 1 because Q is equal to the sum of all Q s corresponding to all times t . The third issue is that it denies that anything changes (by our definition of change as a function of time) because it denies that time is ongoing. This theory is not empirically supported because obviously we see time as being ongoing and infinite also it is an overly complicated explanation for what we seek. The last theory is called the no persistence theory and it states that an object x does not persist through time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are much more than just an invasion of privacy, when used in the hands of an experienced pilot with a good moral compass. Commercial Drone Use Tim Yakaitis of Connecticut uses drones for filming property for real estate listings and other services in his company DroneOn (Townsend, 2014). A simple quadcopter drone with a GoPro camera hanging underneath, is all that is necessary for him to run this niche business, which he supplements with commercial landscape photography from his drone and on the ground. Commercial drones are a reasonably new niche for public drone use, due to the recent innovation of working quad rotor drones versus the typical single fixed blade like a helicopter (Rothstein, 2015). Quad rotor designed drones allow for greatly increased stability and hover ability, at the cost of reduced speed (Rothstein, 2015). This stability and hover increase has put commercial drones on the map especially for use in cheap aerial photography (Rothstein, 2015).. The Court found that, while Long couldn t deduct his education costs in connection with his real estate activity as he originally claimed, he could deduct them as unreimbursed employee expenses. While IRS conceded that the degree wasn t incurred to meet the minimum educational requirements of Long s trade or business, it asserted that the expenses were nondeductible because Long s MBA qualified him for a new trade or business. Specifically, IRS argued that the MBA enabled him to acquire the senior research analyst position with Connective Capital, noting that the job posting stated a preference for MBA holders. The Court, however, rejected this argument and found that Long was in the same trade or business before enrolling in the MBA program and remained in that trade or business when he took on the new position at Connective Capital. He was qualified in financial analysis through his studies and personal investment experience before enrolling in the MBA program in May 2010, as demonstrated by his passing the CAIA and CFA exams before enrolling, and he was also developing financial skills as general partner of the investment partnership. IRS also emphasized that Long didn t become a CFA charter holder or a CAIA member until 2012, but the Court accepted Long s explanation that the annual fees were costly and just passing the exams was sufficient to demonstrate knowledge and ... Prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells are different in regards to structure and size. Prokaryotic cells are not as complex as eukaryotic cells. To begin with, prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus. The DNAis enclosed in the capsule of the prokaryotic cell. In contrast, the eukaryotic cell has a nucleus which contains the DNA. The eukaryotic cell is much larger than the prokaryotic cell. The eukaryotic cell is roughly a thousand times the size of a prokaryotic cell (Singh Cundy, A., Shin, G., 2015). The prokaryotic cell stores its DNA within the cytosol, inside the capsule. The capsule protects the shape and structure of the cell. Inside the cell wall is the plasma membrane, which contains the plasma membrane. Within the plasma membrane is the cytosol and ribosomes. For some reason, Becquerel decided to develop his photographic plates anyway. To his surprise, the images were strong and clear, proving that the uranium emitted radiation without an external source of energy such as the sun. Becquerel had discovered radioactivity. Becquerel used an apparatus similar to that displayed below to show that the radiation he discovered could not be x rays. X rays are neutral and cannot be bent in a magnetic field. The new radiation was bent by the magnetic field so that the radiation must be charged and different than x rays. When different radioactive substances were put in the magnetic field, they deflected in different directions or not at all, showing that there were three classes of radioactivity: negative, positive, and electrically neutral. The term radioactivity was actually named by Marie Curie, who together with her husband Pierre, began investigating the phenomenon recently discovered by Becquerel. The Curies extracted uranium from ore and to their surprise, found that the leftover ore showed more activity than the pure uranium. They concluded that the ore contained other radioactive elements. This led to the discoveries of the elements polonium and radium. It took four more years of processing tons of ore to isolate enough of each element to determine their chemical properties. Initially, the reason I chose the two novels was to see how well the oldest text on the course could be adapted into the newest. Interestingly the texts proved to be quite similar in narrative; both are versions of autobiography (although one fictional and one true), both feature a retrospective first person, self conscious narrator (Booth 155), and both centre around a female protagonist deviating from societal norms of the time. Fittingly enough Roxana also mentions her father in the beginning, although she leaves him dead quite quickly. Adapting a novelinto a graphic novel is a drastic stylistic change, and my biggest concern was to keep my adaption steadily tied with the two texts, whilst trying not to get too carried away in the creative process. I based my process of making the comic on an interview with Alison Bechdel, where she explains how she planned the text in Adobe Illustrator, sketched and inked by hand, and finally rendered the panels digitally ( Alison Bechdel ).
