The document is a presentation by Richard C. Close on handling classroom global diversity through curriculum design using PowerPoint templates. It discusses experiential learning theory and frameworks like the Global Learning Framework and Personal Learning Framework that address different learning styles and intelligences. It provides examples of using these frameworks in a STEM lesson on building robots and traffic safety systems, with PowerPoint slides on topics like shop safety, seven segment displays, and a lab report rubric. The presentation aims to demonstrate how to design inclusive, collaborative lessons that leverage digital tools like PowerPoint.

Variety and choice are powerful stimulants. They result in firmer engagement and more active interest. Making decisions empowers and allows learners to explore paths leading to individual goals. But what happens when this spectrum of choices, this exciting variety, leads to so many opportunities? This talk offers real-life suggestions on dealing with choice in the technology-enhanced classroom.
About Presentations and Speeches.
This discusses the tools and techniques that can be used to deliver a presentation/ speech and what can we learn from epic demonstrations and epic failures.
What if the reason everyone seems so anti-LMS is that they are not structured correctly? LMS design, as one large single system, is setup to fail the OER community. MOOCs are at least a push in the right direction, but their frameworks are often closed, discouraging open development. If we had truly open, community driven platform for the creation of educational resources, we might see more truly OER materials being created.
This is the position ELMS Learning Network (ELMSLN) takes in its approach to edtech design. ELMSLN takes the major functionality of an LMS and spreads it out across a suite of open source tools. The experience is glued together by single-sign-on technologies like LTI to enable the best system selection for the job without sacrificing user experience.
These tools a built on a framework that includes other open systems such as Drupal and Piwik. Piwik allows for a Google analytics style framework but open source and data is hosted with whoever is utilizing it. This can used both for tracking and general data about students, or for statistical analysis of how effective OER are in reaching different global audiences.
Drupal 7, is a highly flexible yet complex CMS used to power high scale development projects. While Drupal is traditionally difficult to work with, ELMSLN packages it up in such a way that's easy both for code developers and content authors to understand. What it brings with it is a community of experts authoring functionality that can all be utilized to deliver courses and OER. The best part is that by aligning with this community, ELMSLN has access to the knowledge and expertise of thousands of contributed modules and highly trained developers who don't need to have any understanding of edtech in order to help improve it!
ELMSLN also comes packaged with support for LTI 1.0 provider capabilities for integration with current LMS offerings. This enables faculty at existing universities and colleges to keep their materials outside the LMS, yet still securely pass their traditional students through to their content seamlessly. ELMSLN's networked approach to edtech development, can allow OER material to reside in one toolset (out in the open) without fear of opening oneself up to PII or FERPA violations.
Part of the resistance to OER production is the technical and privacy barriers to participation, which are at the heart of how ELMSLN has been constructed. Attendees will walk away with a sense of the transformative nature of Drupal, who's using ELMSLN and how to get involved.

Creating Communications That Connect: What's Your Strategy? by Tammy Dayton (Moth) and Dave Demerjian (43,000 Feet), hosted by MIT Communication Production Services
Laicos is a technology Startup Studio led by Ryan Negri and Kyle Matthews. With 20 years combined operational and startup experience, Negri and Matthews want to shape the up-and-coming startup ecosystem of Tampa, Florida, developing their own ideas to create a new tech hub of innovation and entrepreneurship.
A “Startup Studio” is a structure whose aim is to repeatedly build products into companies. Thanks to its infrastructure and resources, a startup studio increase a product’s chance of success and optimize its creation and growth.
The difference between incubators/accelerators and Startup Studios is the vested human capital involved around an idea. At the core of the startups studio model are dedicated teams helping business ideas develop into beautiful products and successful companies.
Laicos’ flagship inaugural product, Fuse, is a social media management platform for the consumers and power users, with a simple price model and a clean and attractive UI. In addition, Laicos is developing four additional products: BusFinder, currently in beta version, an app utilizing data from the Tampa Public Transportation System; $1Market, to offer many different services to users for $1 dollar/mo, Order to Seat, for fans to order food to their seat while at a stadium or arena, and FoodStops, a food truck tracking app for consumers and marketing platform for vendors. In 20I7, we plan to work with other founders to help turn their ideas into reality.

Based on the frameworks of John Dewey’s Experiential Learning, Malcolm Knowles and Lindeman and Distributive Intelligence this session will have a free downloadable course and discussion on how to motivate students with personally relevant material on a historical content. Learning does not happen on a page, it happens in the heart.
The course was originally developed for an Apple high School customer in order to weave historical content with the student’s experience with life. The course explores colonialism transformation in modern globalization through the use of media and collaborative class experience. It is a digital storytelling course.
The curriculum leverages the 31 UN human rights as a digital storytelling program. Youthforhumanrights.org. Perhaps now with the state of global human rights infractions making students feel helpless it is as timely as ever. The session will cover some information on the UN SDG talk.
Richard developed under a UNESCO grant a digital storytelling portal “I am Africa. This is my story..” This is curriculum and methods are excellent material for Flat Classroom projects. The Youth for Human Rights program of 31 emotional promo video can be used by teams of students in PBL and other collaborative media formats.

Massive, Self-Sustainable Collaborative Learning. The unabridged version of UN HQ session on Education and Sustainable Development Goals SDGs presented 2/2016.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
This is an expanded version of the SDG and Education session presented at Sustainable Development Goals SDGs in the UN HQ. The unabridged version includes many of the issues, and heated complaints, brought in discussions after the session. Many of the issues focused around the sanitization of culture out of curriculum when culture is a driving force to learn and build communities.
The session provides a series of cases on how massive global collaborative learning events impact the work both in global reach (breadth) and (depth) in transformation perception and technology.
The session also covers massive cultural learning transformations in relation to poverty and self-perception. The US is used as a case of a poor colonial nation and becuase of learning events evoluted into a massive inventive force. In addition how massive learning events such as the Novel and Microsoft certification programs people entrenched markets, such as IBM’s computer monopoly.
These global learning events, such as Microsoft Cloud cell phone banking, create grounds for massive shifts in both how and what we learn.
This is relevant for a global educators to grasp because key student motivators are latent within the classroom on massive shifts.
UN SDGs is also a great framework for a student on becoming global social citizens.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

Lindeman, John Dewey, Julie Lindsey
1. It’s all about what type of “Experiences”
we create for our students
2. Educators are human, we provide our
students “human events” not just data and
rule sets.
3. Experiences by their human nature all
contain non-tangible values that give the
lesson context.

1 byte = 8 bits
8 bits:
A binary number that has 8 digits is
said to have 8 bits
1 byte
Byte is a variable that contains 8 bits
There are 256 different combinations of
zeros and ones that you can use to
count from 0 to 255 using bits.
Why a byte variable can store a
number between 0 and 255

37. Logo
First Command, OUTH DIRH
OUTH = %0000000
Gets all the I/O pins (p8 –
P15) ready to send the
low signals.
If they all send low
signals, it will turn all the
LEDs in the 7-segment
display off.
OUTH = %11111111
To send high signal
DIRH = %111111111
Sets all i.o pins P8 – P13
to output
On acceptance P8 – P15
all start sending the low
signal. Because OUTH =
%00000000 was executed
before DIRTH
DIRTH = %0000000 can
change all I/O pins back to
inputs

Your Challenge
OUTH = %11010110
01
The display is turned so that the
three on the display is upside-down
because it more clearly shows how
the values in OUTH line up with I/O
pins.
The command OUTH = %11010110
uses binary zeros to set I?O pins
P8, P11 and P13 low and it uses
binary ones to set p9, P10, P12,
P14 and P15 high.
