The Constitution was made to try and make voting less restrictive and for citizens to have a fair say

This amendment gave the right to vote to African Americans or any male citizen to vote, no matter

The Grandfather Clause was enacted after the Civil War to bypass the Literacy Test and Poll
Taxes for the White Citizens to vote. The Literacy Test and Poll Taxes were made to test the
Literacy of the voters and if the voter could afford to pay the tax to vote. This was introduced to try
and limit African Americans from votingafter the Civil War.
The impact was that any white male had the ability to vote, no matter religion and that each state
had an equal chance to vote in Congress.
This expanded the right to vote from just white males to all male citizens in the United States. This
did not include Women and that was not introduced until after Women s Suffrage in the 20th
Century.
The Literacy Tests and Poll Taxes punished the poor and illiterate, which punished both African
Americans and White Americans that were poor and uneducated. The Grandfather Clause tried to

So I was basically on my own. I edited a highlight real, sent it out, and began to try to get in contact
with coaches. I had been quite successful in high school, earning All State awards for both offence
and defense, but had no idea how I would compare to football players at the collegiate level. I

Theoretical Framework
The literature review of this research study is based on second language acquisition (SLA) theory.
In this section I address a number of studies that have been conducted on vocabulary acquisition
and share results of studies that are related to the topic. This is the framework I use for establishing
the importance of the study and a benchmark of comparing results with other findings.
Literature Review
Vocabulary Acquisition History
Since the early 1980s, research on second language vocabulary has taken a prominent role in the
field of second language acquisition (SLA). Previously, learning a language was heavily based on
learning grammar rules, which learners have to follow and understand in order to use correct
grammatical sentences. As a result, that has led to a neglect of learning vocabulary as there was an
assumption that vocabulary can be learned through communication and can take care of itself
(Meara, 1980; Maiguaschca, 1993).
A number of researchers (e.g., Carter McCarthy, 1988; McCarthy, 1990; Nation, 2010; Nation
Laufer 2012; Schmitt, 2010) argue that vocabulary acquisition is the basic foundation of language
learning because words are the building blocks of communication and without them, learners will
not be able to express themselves and communicate by using a target language. This has led to the
emergence of a growing body of research intended to discover and describe second language (L2)
learners strategies for learning a target

Locke discusses his ideal version of government, in which a social contract is exchanged between
the subjects and the government in power. In discussing this social contract, Locke provides a

will be spent discussing tacit consent. For our purposes, we will define tacit consent as a
nonverbal, implied, voluntary act of permission or agreement. In Locke s Second Treatise of
