Physical Health Problems
The physical health problems caused by the computers for children
Introduction
The invention of the electronic tools e.g. computers make people lead an efficient and convenient life.
The efficiency, convenience and practicability of the electronic tools e.g. computers attract both adults
and children, and make them use these tools in their daily life (Thomée, 2015). As has been seen, the
use of computers and in adults work is becoming more frequent and majority of children use these
tools in their daily life as well. However, the long time use of computers may caused some problems,
and one of the problems is the physical health problem. When using a computer, no matter a laptop or
a desktop, the user do not need to move. These behavior would normally be defined as sedentary
behavior, which may make the user to do less physical exercise, fit less physically and suffer more risk
of health problems. The problem may be solved by three solutions, the first seems to make children
use computer in a right posture, the second may be some physical exercises and another solution
seems to decrease children s time spent on computers.
Physical health problem caused by computers
According to Kimmerly (2009), over 90% of children aged 3 18 in the US used computers, and with
children aged, more children started to use computer related activities. However, the long time of uses
of these electronic tools may lead to physical health problems to children. For example visual strain,

Summary Of Our Guys Bernard Lefkowitz
Book Review for Our Guys Bernard Lefkowitz The book Our Guys is more of a cultural and
sociological study than just a mere crime book. Bernard provides detailed information about the story
of a young girl known as Leslie who was raped by the Jocks in a town known as Glen ridge in New
Jersey. The story reports that the Jocks had been in trouble since their middle years in school.
However they were considered the star athletes, golden boys in a town that valued competition and
athleticism. The behavior of one of the young men was so inexplicable and revolting; however, he was
never charged or punished for his actions. As Bernard puts it, you would walk in a high school with a
cabinet full of trophies, game balls and other accoutrements, but surprisingly, you would not be able to
find the honor roll list (Lefkowitz, 1997). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They treated girls and women disrespectfully. Under no circumstances would they interact with girls
in a state that showed equality. This is due to the fact that almost all their activities involved sports.
What is more astonishing is that the Jockettes as Bernard calls them tolerated the vile behavior of
these boys. This may be due to the fact that the girls felt that they had no identity or they were less
important in the society. The Glen Ridge boys of the New Jersey, who raped Leslie, were every father
s pride, every mother s pride and in fact they were Our Guys. The town of Glen Ridge emphasized on
qualities such as competitiveness, sense of superiority, physical strength and belligerence. Such
qualities dominated the young boys from their kindergarten to high school graduation. As Lefkowitz
puts it, boys who had such qualities were highly

Persuasive Essay On Agriculture
When you think of the word agriculture farming is probably the first thought that comes to mind. At
its most basic element, agriculture is the way in which we produce food, the most basic human need.
There is an untold amount of differing opinions on the topic of how we should grow food; smaller
family farms being pitted against commercial operations, conventional agriculture against organic
practices, and much of the public does not know what side to pick. Agriculture has developed into a
highly controversial issue, with each view point claiming that it is the only correct way to farm;
despite this, it is imperative that we lay aside our differences in opinion and come together if we are
going to create a sustainable food system responsible for feeding 9 billion hungry mouths.
By the year 2050, estimates show that over 9 billion people will inhabit Earth, and it is imperative that
agriculture finds a way to feed them all. That is about 1.5 billion more people than there are today.
One of the biggest dilemmas that agriculture faces is that relatively little more land can be converted
into land used for agriculture production, without causing irreparable, detrimental effects to the
environment. The damage that this would cause is the subject for another essay, but the bottom line is
that it is necessary we produce this food using the land we already have. The only way we can
accomplish this is to combine the best practices of organic, or small farms, with those of

I Choose For This Report Is Call Infidel An Autobiography...
The book I choose for this report is call Infidel an autobiography of Ayann Hirsi Ali. My literature
professor recommend this book to me about a year ago and I never got around to reading it. Then
when we were assigned this report I know that it was a good book for this paper. I m excited that I
finally got to around to reading it.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born in Mogadishu, Somalia where she spent her early childhood years living
with her mother, brother, sister, and grandmother. Her father at that time was in prison. Although he
does escape prison and ends living in Ethiopia for a while before morning to Saudi Arabia. When he
moves there his family eventually moves there to join him.
Ayaan Hirsi Ali was raised in a strict Muslim family. She has endured civil war, female mutilation,
brutal beatings, and a life of moving from one troubled country to another that were unstable and ruled
by dictators.

Mafia Research Paper
The research demonstrates about how the mafia organized crime structured in society. Mafia is an
organized crime who is capable of invading the economy and politics with gaining social acceptance.
Mafia is an organization of territorial control and illegal activities like smuggling, weapon, trafficking,
and more. Mafia s groups are also known to provide private security for theft, coercion, and police
baiting.
The research depicts the case from the blog of Gangster Inc. of the Italian Mafia Boss, Emilio Di
Giovine, who explains the structure of Ndrangheta mafia group. Emilio explains that the most
important requirements to join the groups are the code of silence and secrecy. Emilio describes that the
Ndrangheta gangs began like a robin hood and organized in the hierarchy style. These mafia groups
are settled in the town of Calabria, urban communities, and mountains. The boss at the top control all
the other gang members at the bottom level and resolved the problems as a police and a judge and
executed those who do not hear them.
The Ndrangheta is distributing their operations in various countries in Italy, Europe, Belgium, Spain,
and more. These mafias take part in the drug trafficking, smuggling, pirating, burglary, illegal
migration, and an illegal weapon. Emilio describes that his family were both involved ... Show more

Deficit Theory Essay
Class is a socio economic set of groups, in which every individual falls into (Phillips, 2012), these
groups include lower, working, middle and upper class. These classes impact on the resources that
people have access to. This influences the environment in which a student is raised in, which also
impacts their on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, impacting their ability to succeed in
education. The correlation between a student s environment, health and home can be explained by
Bourdieu s class theory (Lyall, 2016), Pere s (1988) Te Wheke theory, Durie s (1994) Whare Tapa
Wha theory and the Deficit theory. Health is a physical impact on achievement levels of students in
education. These physical impacts are frequently ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Children can become stressed due to experiences such as living in violent neighbourhoods, constantly
moving homes and being bullied in school (Dobrin, 2012). Being stressed distracts children from
learning; they don t have the ability to focus on their work while they re worrying about their home
life (Levy, 2014). The deficit theory suggests that students from low income families often don t do
well in school (Irizarry, 2009; Gorski, 2010). A child s ability to learn can often be based on the
teacher s attitude about their learning ability. It is often instinctive for teachers to approach a child s
learning with their weaknesses in mind, not their strengths (Gorski, 2010). Concentrating on what the
child can t do allows for learning progress in this area, enabling the child to keep up with the rest of
the class. However, this can be discouraging for children and can make them feel defined by their
weaknesses. Research shows that when a teacher is actively supportive of a child s strengths and
weaknesses, as well as being involved in their learning, that child will feel a better sense of belonging
and engagement (Mainhard, Brekelmans, Wubbels, 2011). Peters (2013, p.1) states Child poverty
often goes hand in hand with other social problems including child homicides, physical neglect and
abuse, and sexual and emotional abuse . Dealing with a poor home life and an unsupportive school life
can be emotionally and spiritually taxing for anybody, let alone a child. School needs to be a safe
place for children to come and feel equally supported alongside other students (Levy,

CHAPTER 2: THE TIME VALUE OF MONEY
This chapter consists of five sections: the first section explains the time value of money and the factors
that affect the time value of money; The second part will help to distinguish the types of cash flow;
The next two sections will discuss how to determine the present value and the future value of cash
flows; The final section will guide on how to plan an amortized loan.
Before we start, we need to clarify a problem together, which is why we have to study the chapter; in
other words, why financial managers must understand the time value of money?
In fact, whether they are individuals or companies, most financial decisions are associated with the
time value of money. Besides, the objective of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the 10th year, the amount accumulated will be:
P10 = 10 (1 + 10 x 0,08) = 18 million
Generally: Pn = Po [ 1 + (i) x (n) ]
In which: Pn: accumulation of a loan at the end of period n. Po: Principals i: interest rate n: number of
time periods.
Compound interest is interest that is paid not only on the principal but also on any interest earned but
not withdrawn during earlier periods. This happens when interest is earned on the interest earned in
prior periods.
Returning to the example above, you put 10 million in an account with compounding interest rate of
8% / year. After 10 years, how much money do you have? (including principal and interest)
After the first year, the amount accrued is:
P1 = 10 + 10 x 0,08 = 10 (1 +0,08) = 10,8 million
After the second year, the amount accrued is:
P2 = 10 (1+0,08) + 10(1 + 0,08) x 0,08 = 10 (1 + 0,08)(1 + 0,08) = 10 (1 + 0,08)2 = 11,664 million
After the third year, the amount accrued is:
P3 = 10 (1 + 0,08)2 + 10 (1 + 0,08)2 x 0,08 = 10 (1 + 0,08)2(1 + 0,08) = 10 (1 + 0,08)3 = 12,597

Alfred Hitchcock Manipulates the Audience to Build...
Psycho is a suspense horror film written by Joseph Stefano and directed by Alfred Hitchcock. This
film was loosely adapted from Robert Bloch s 1959 suspense novel, Psycho. A majority of the movie
was filmed in 1960 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Psycho is about Marion Crane (Janet Leigh),
a secretary from Arizona who steals $40,000 from her employer s client. She takes that money and
drives off to California to meet her lover Sam Loomis (John Gavin) in order to start a new life. After a
long drive, she pulls off the main highway and ends up taking refuge at an isolated motel owned and
managed by a deranged Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins). In Alfred Hitchcock s film, Psycho,
symbols, character and point of view are three literary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene makes the viewer believe that she may be the possible psycho referred to by the title of the
film. Another instance that manifests this idea is when ever the camera is on Norman Bates. Though
he seems polite and amiable towards Crane, the shadows on his eyes represent something more dark
and sinister about him. These creative uses of birds and eyes help make the film have more sharp
twists and suspense by subtlety hinting at fear and death. The characters of the film present another
approach that shapes suspense in the film by making the audience think that Norman Bates is a shy
and caring, man who loves his mother no matter what. Bates is first introduced to the audience when
he checks in Marion Crane. He acts polite towards her even offers her dinner. She exits to her room
and this is when the opinion that he viewers have of Norman Bates changes. He voyeurs through a
peephole into her room watching what she is doing and his actions become questionable. After the
shower scene he finds Crane dead on her bathroom floor. He hides the body because he cares for his
mother that much. He continues to conceal the truth even when a detective comes to question him. His
mother kills the detective and he has to hide another body but his countenance changes as he hides the
second body. His eyes are darkened by the shadows on his face and he doesn t seem to be who he was
in the beginning. He has a more sinister quality and this is fully revealed when he tries to

Jonathan Swift Satire
In the satirical work of Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the author draws attention to many
elements of society that can be reflected in the modern day. With further investigation into the
literature, it is plain to see that Swift, an Irishman, was extremely bitter about the state of the
government and the control it maintained over other regions. From incompetent rulers to a focus on
reason and rationality, we can see that the themes discussed by Swift in the novel have repeated
themselves throughout the historical ages. Throughout the entire story, it is noticeable to the reader
that there is not much in the way of plot surrounding Gulliver, the main character. Swift does not give
textual insight as to Gulliver s inner workings or thoughts. This arguably happens mainly in the genre
of satire because the author wants the reader to focus most of their attention on the social or political
that are being referenced to within the writing. The same holds true for this story, as Swift heavily
hints at the incompetency of King George I. One of the main points that Swift draws attention to is
that of the gross incompetency and corruption of the various rulers. For instance, in Book One, the
emperor of Lilliput is egocentric and for the most part, lets his ministers run the country. This is a
distinct hint at the King George I of England, who did not know anything about politics and allowed
parliament to do most of the ruling, holding him simply as a power figure. However,

The Bronze Experience

During the entirety of the Bronze expedition I have achieved my intended purposes satisfactorily. By
having to walk through many trees and different types of flora I learnt to not be squeamish when faced
with fauna and learn to appreciate and observe nature instead of avoiding it. I learnt the importance of
a positive mindset during the trip and being not afraid to try new things such as the mountain devil
nectar, to throw yourself into the deep waters such as climbing up the steep moss covered uphills and
to take calculated risks when trying new routes. The unpolluted and fairly untouched environment

looking back behind me and never looking up at how much longer I had to go, keeping focused on
where I was stepping, breathing and the position of my centre of gravity. Towards the end of the first
day of the expedition there was one main highlight that made my day. We were all exhausted and

Determining The Population Structure Of Salmo Salar
Joshua Igin
Determining the Population Structure of Salmo salar (Atlantic Salmon) in the Salmon River, NY
The Salmon River is located in Oswego County New York and it empties into Lake Ontario at Port
Ontario. It is a major hub of public recreational fishing in New York State and contains a variety of
fish including Chinook, Coho, and Atlantic Salmon as well as Brown Trout and many others. The
Salmon River was an extremely productive tributary into the late 19th century. Unfortunately, a
variety of factors led to the degradation of the water and subsequently the Atlantic Salmon population
collapsed. These factors included deforestation, over fishing, and dam construction. (dec.ny)

(Falconer and Mackay, 1996). Additionally, (Youngson et al 2003) explains that in the management of
hatcheries, managers must make decisions based on population structure and genetic insight. This
research would provide novel information that could inform better decision making in terms of the
effectiveness and efficiency of the hatchery.
The Atlantic Salmon is an appropriate fish to study because of it s importance globally. It is a
commonly eaten fish, and is very prevalently produced used in aquaculture techniques. In addition to
that, it s a fish that has seen a dramatic population decline globally. There are major conservation
efforts concerning it, specifically on the coast of Maine. It is an anadromous fish, and typically spends
2 3 years in freshwater, then spends about 2 3 years in the ocean and then returns to it s native river to
spawn. This makes it very vulnerable to the conditions it may face in both environments.
The general approach of this study will follow similar methodology to the approach used in Ward
2006. The Genetic diversity within the populations will be examined based on samples locus
genotypes and the genome diversity can be examined for fits to Hardy Weinberg expectations. The
genetic differentiation between the samples will be quantified using the FST statistic from Wright,

The 17th Amendment Of The United States Constitution
The 17th Amendment The American government was created based on the principle of federalism, the
system of government that establishes a written constitution that divides the powers of government to
a federal and state level. The U.S. Federal Government consists of three branches, the Executive,
Legislative, and Judicial. It also utilizes checks and balances so these branches have equal power. The
main goal of federalism is to balance the central government with the state government, and initially
the U.S. Constitution established that the Senate shall be composed of two Senators from each State,
chosen by the Legislature (US Const. Article I, Section 3). However, in 1912 the 17th Amendment
was ratified, which changed how Senators are elected. Instead of the people voting for state legislators
who elect Senators, the people elected the Senators, making the election process of Senators a direct
democracy. The Framers chose to create a republic instead of direct democracy in order to prevent
social and elite groups from taking power. The 17th Amendment goes against does not just oppose the
Constitution, but it also disputes the ideology of the American Government as a federal republic.
Although most supporters of the 17th Amendment believe that it serves as a better mechanism for a
representative government, it is unconstitutional because of its opposing qualities against the Framers
who created the United States government with the vision of federalism and a republic. The

Examples of Genetically Engineered Foods
Example 1: Genetically engineering fish to have fluorescent glows
One of the most disturbing scientific findings of recent years was the extent of the influence upon the
endocrine system of various common chemicals, industrial products, and common pharmaceuticals
such as birth control pills. To track the presence of endocrine disruptors within the bodies of fish,
which have been shown to be particularly vulnerable to the changes caused by such products in the
environment, scientists genetically engineered zebra fish embryos to glow in places where an
endocrine disrupting chemical is present over the course of the fish s development and thus show
where it may be harming the body (Handwerk 2012). The genetic engineering using proteins found in
glowing jellyfish naturally in the wild is specifically designed to not interfere with the fish s natural
systems, yet still provides a way of tracking how the chemicals act in the body using a fluorescent
microscope.
Example 2: Genetically engineering chloroplasts
Genetically engineering the chloroplasts of plants is considered to be one of the more effective forms
of producing hardier plants through the use of genetic modification. It allows for a high level of
transgene expression, or genes that are transmitted from generation to generation. According to
Daniell (et al 2005), chloroplast alteration permits multi gene engineering in a single transformation
event and transgene containment by maternal inheritance, as well as a

Dark Alliance By Gary Webb
Dark Alliance GARY Webb book review
In the book Dark Alliance by Gary Webb, is about the conspiracy of how the CIA had monitored the
selling of crack cocaine in America to help fund the Nicaraguan contras secretly. And also during this
process the Nicaraguan drugs were being sold to inner cities to create a drug known as crack that
harmed the black population drastically.
First of all Gary Webb had made a newspaper over this topic Gary was once a news paper reporter and
when he released the paper version of dark alliance it shocked America many believing it was real
many believing there was not enough evidence however it has stood till today as being an accurate
interpretation of corruption that indeed happened in present day America.
The book tells us the story of how this all went down, basically there was a Latin American army that
was obtaining profits from the illegal drugs that were being sold to the inner city gang groups known
as the Crips and bloods. and while all this was happening the CIA was well aware and in fact they
were supposedly running the whole operation. Know that the drugs ... Show more content on

this part of the world began to thrive again. Another important of the Pax Romana was not only peace,
but was the minimal military expansion. The military decided to decrease to be more specialized and
compact. Minimalizing military numbers made the economy more efficient and stabilized, during and

Steven Spielberg s Jaws and Ridley Scott s Gladiator Essay
Steven Spielberg s Jaws and Ridley Scott s Gladiator The two films being examined are the thriller
Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg, and the action film Gladiator directed by Ridley Scott. Both
directors create epic films; the films are momentous and are designed to manipulate the emotions. A
thriller is intended to appeal to basic human instinct to the need of feeling fear and survival. Action
movies are designed to appeal to our sense of danger: pace and experience is something we want but
don t have in our everyday lives to this extent. Both films are examples of media, which manage to
induce you into a certain way of thinking: Jaws into being scared and Gladiator into sympathising and

When the Barbarians enter the scene they all appear uncivilised and disorganizes in comparison: the
fact they behead the messenger reinforces this. When the battle begins, the camera flicks around at a
frenetic pace, showing the chaos of battle. As Maximus enters on a horse, the light is streaming
through the trees making him appear a hero, a ray of hope in the dark. As he begins mercilessly killing
Germanians the director manipulates the audience into condoning the slaughter, and what is more,
willing him to kill further lending credibility to his role. In Jaws, the shot opens on the beach with the
campfire at night. It s a familiar setting; the teenagers are all stereotypically middle class college kids ,
very warm and relaxed. The director designed the scene to provoke a recognizable combination to the
audience, to convey how normal and plausible it is. When the female and male leave the group the
group, the colours change; the scene becomes dark and the characters become silhouetted against the
moonlight. The silence is emphasised by the sound of the waves and the bell. The atmosphere is eerie
and indefinite: the sea is calm. The female actress is silhouetted as she swims. Her friend has passed
out at this point, obviously beyond giving any help, which increases the sense of her isolation and
vulnerability. As the camera closes in for a close up

For the Love of God Please Ban Zero Day Exploits
There is an interesting discussion going on revolving around privacy experts, and security professional
surrounding the use, and abuse of 0day exploits. Some of the talk comes surrounding a Bloomberg
article titled: US Contractors Scale Up Search for Heartbleed Like Flaws [1] The argument on the side
of privacy / legal/ crypto experts (summarized) seems to be we need to stop because it will get into the
wrong hands [2] People are going to use it for the wrong reasons. Which is true to a degree but on a
grand scale one of the most absurd things I have read in some time. No law pertaining to say guns,
ever stopped a criminal from obtaining and using a gun. While one could argue the role of
minimization of the usage of guns, I could argue back, the criminals could shift to using a knife, a
knitting needle, a steak bone to inflict harm. The same can, and will likely apply to trying to stop the
sale of 0day exploits. Let s be blunt about it the zero day market. There are ONLY two real procurers
of zero day exploits: government and criminals. Criminalizing the sale of zero days is NOT going to
stop the criminals, they re already underground doing what they do. Governments? Governments will
do whatever they want. You can trick yourself into thinking they would stop if there were laws against
it however, you d be naive to think that some form of national security classification won t be slapped
on the research, and the projects will move forward. Sort of akin to biological

Frederick II Compare And Contrast Essay
Emperor Frederick II of Germany and King Louis IX of France were both important figureheads of
the crusades as they personally prepared for the departure and led the army to the Holy Land. This
indicated a transition of responsibility for crusading from the Church to royal figures. Even though
Louis IX s crusades failed and Frederick II s crusade gained control of the Holy Land, Louis IX
became a saint whereas Frederick II was declared the Antichrist. Therefore, the outcome of the
crusades led by both kings did not determine the public s approval and disapproval. Despite failing
both of his crusades, Louis IX became a saint because of his sincere intention and devotion to liberate
the Holy Land. Frederick II, on the other hand, was indifferent toward the faith and the main purpose
for him to lead the crusade was to acquire ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than various documents praising Louis personality, even his enemy praised him for being noble.
Since his father took part in the Albigensian Crusade, Louis grew up in a family of past crusaders with
chivalry tradition. Therefore, he had a strong sense of justice and religious identity. Louis was
passionate about leading his own crusade in order to save Jerusalem and restore the honor of the
Church. He used most of France s resources to fund the crusades during the preparation process. Louis
also gained Innocent IV s trust since the pope gave Louis one tenth of his church s revenue. Even after
losing his first crusade, the king took full responsible for it and committed to his position as a ruler of
France for penance. Meanwhile, he still assisted the crusader kingdom in different ways such as
sending them funds from France. During his trip to the Holy Land, all people joyfully welcomed him.
Louis s presence had stabilized Jerusalem s internal conflicts. Furthermore, Louis improved the

Ronald Regan
Ronald Reagan, My American Hero
October 5, 2014

Ronald Reagan was more than just our nation s 40th President, he was a remarkable leader. Winning
the Governor election by more than 1 million votes, and President of the United States for two terms,
America was needing a fearless figure in front of economic, domestic and international threats this
nation was experiencing. He brought lower tax rates, negotiated the nuclear arms treaty with the
Soviet Union, and influenced the tear down of the Berlin wall and the ending the Cold War without
firing a shot. Reagan left Office in 1989 and said, We meant to change the nation, but instead we

Governor Reagan worked with Democratic majority in the state legislature to endorse a major reform

Financial Crisis During The Great Depression
Chapter 1: Introduction
It is clear that the most popular terms, which could be seen on media including the Internet, newspaper
on the late of 2000s, are Global Financial Crisis (GFC), credit crunch, sub prime crisis or bankruptcy.
The financial crisis, started in the late of 2007 in the USA and quickly become international
phenomenon, is seen to be the worst crisis since the Great Depression, 1929 1933 (Hull, 2012). GFC
was a steel punch, which has probably destroyed the biggest and unbreakable economy in the world,
the USA. It seems that the idiom Too big to fail may not true in all circumstances. There were some
big financial institutions receiving bailout from the government and some announced go bankrupt
such as 160 year old bank and the forth largest bank before the crisis, Lehman Bothers Bank . There
were a lot of researches, books and journals discussing and debating every perspective the turmoil
including causes, determinants and consequences. Further more, there were some researches of Lynch

history, Canada appeared to be one outside of that crisis though the unemployment rate was increased
(in Walks, 2014:256).

Willy Loman In Arthur Miller s Death Of A Salesman
Roman fabulist, Phaedrus, once wrote, Things are not always what they seem; the first appearance
deceives many... Truthfully, one cannot properly understand a person. Generally, people have
preconceived ideas and will make erroneous assumptions about others. It is difficult for some to see
through a fictitious exterior that one might fabricate. For example, in Death of a Salesman, the
characters view of Willy Loman drastically changes over the course of the play. In the Death of a
Salesman, Arthur Miller exploits the audience s view of Willy s character throughout the play via his
interactions with others.
To start, Willy is first characterized as a successful, esteemed salesman. Willy would frequently tell
Biff and Happy of the admiration others had for him; for example, Willy informed his boys of how he
met the Mayor of Providence for coffee. When the boys were young Willy would often mention his
success any chance he got. Therefore, as children, Biff and Happy adopted their father as a notable
role model. Because of Willy s remarks, the boys viewed their father as a very successful, well
respected businessman. For instance, Willy told them, I never have to wait to see a buyer....I go right
through (Miller 21). Willy s incessant speeches of his success only reinforced the flawless persona he
had created. Willy had a tendency to exaggerate his mediocre sales and success. The boys sole
perspective of their father were the fictitious stories he told. In the eyes of

The Little White Bird By J. M. A Brief
J. M. Barrie wrote about a typical boy based loosely on the Llewellyn Davies family. Barrie could not
have known how the world would change when he introduced Peter Pan in 1902 s The Little White
Bird or that Peter Pan would be adapted over and over one hundred years later. He could not have
imagined the psychiatric term for men the Peter Pan Syndrome being a phenomenon. Barrie simply
told a story by using characters and life events and creating a children s story of fantasy. Peter Pan was
not traditional in the sense that it tapped into the child at the heart of every human young and old.
Barrie was a visionary as well as a writer as he saw brilliance in tragedy and wrote about what human
desires to remain youthful and act from an untainted point of view without restrictions. He supplied
the child and adult with fantastic escapades of fear and violence, escape from responsibility and shows
death as only one more adventure. Barrie met the Llewellyn Davies boys Barrie while he was running
away from all his own losses, perhaps he just wanted to keep running and take them all with him.
Adaptation Finding Neverland
Finding Neverland delves into the relationship between J. M. Barrie and the fatherless Llewelyn
Davies family that led to the story of Peter Pan. Cultural codes set times and places are established
through the setting of London as well as the time presented. The setting is in London in 1904 where

A Risk Assessment
This assignment will take the form of a risk assessment, assessing the possible risks that can be found
in the home environment and its surroundings. It will define what is meant by the word risk and it will
describe how one is identified. In the essay, three risks from within the home will be examined and
there will be a discussion as to how frequently these risks occur. Penultimately, this essay will present
influential criminological theories to help explain the phenomenon of crime. Finally, it will suggest
useful means of crime prevention before concluding that suitable methods of prevention can, in fact,
reduce the likelihood of certain victimisation.

Gately et al. (2014) state that many offenders would not attempt to carry out a burglary on a house
which looked reasonably secure . This suggests that security cameras may be seen as a deterrence to
criminals.
It is also notable that victims of burglary often experience repeat victimisation. This is when the same
location, business, vehicle or household suffers more than one crime event over a specified time
period. The offence may be the same or a contrasting type (McLaughlin Muncie 2013, p.377). One
reason for this is because offenders know that victims will often replace what has been taken by an
insurance claim.
Strain theory could provide an explanation as to why an individual may carry out a burglary. The
theory developed by Robert Merton in 1968 presents that humans are relatively good. However,
certain situations drive an individual into doing bad things. Merton, (1968) argues that people who
cannot achieve socially approved goals through legitimate means will do so illegitimately because of
the strain that they feel. Merton, (1968) uses the American Dream to illustrate this. The American
Dream emphasises money, as well as success and individuals, are expected to achieve this through
education and hard work. Although, poverty and discrimination are factors which mean that

I Do Not Care About Social Norms Essay
Mira expresses her dauntless love in the poem I do not care about Social Norms . She is a brave
woman. In those times, Indian women were not allowed to go out of the house and express themselves
independently. On the other hand, Mira joined the company of the saints and did not care about social
norms. Mira conveys that she will fasten the bells of Lord Krishna s love in her feet and will dance in
front of Giridhar (Lord Krishna). She lovingly calls Him Giridhar as He was called by the people of
Vrindavan in His pastimes. She desires to please His eyes by dancing for a long period of time for
Him. She conveys that her love for Lord Krishna is ancient, that is, she loved Him in her previous
births also praying to get Divine love. She claims that her love for Lord Krishna is the only truth as

Throughout his life, Roethke experienced a great amount of obstacles which led to his success as a
well regarded, American poet. Fortunately, Roethke s challenges entitled him to various life
experiences which he incorporated into his poems to display his unique, introspectional style. Roethke

While the poem speaks of death, the tone is very subtle and joyful because of the multiple imageries
of nature through diction such as bird, garden, and water. I think the dead are tender. Shall we kiss?
My lady laughs, delighting in what is.
If she but sighs, a bird puts out its tongue.
She makes space lonely with a lovely song.
She lilts a low soft language, and I hear
Down long sea chambers of the inner ear. We sing together; we sing mouth to mouth.
The garden is a river flowing south.
She cries out loud the soul s own secret joy;
She dances, and the ground bears her away.
She knows the speech of light, and makes it plain
A lively thing can come to life again. I feel her presence in the common day,
In that slow dark that widens every eye.
She moves as water moves, and comes to me,
Stayed by what was, and pulled by what would be. Roethke s message in the poem She , is to prove
that even though someone you love is gone, they are not really gone; because they stay with you.
Roethke explains how she is still doing the same things she did as if she was alive. Though, she is

How Technology Has Affected Us As Individuals
Technology seems like such a vital impact on all of our lives that most of us think we can t live
without it. Sure, the technology used in medical fields, science, engineering, etc. is such a big change
from the way things were only a century ago that we likely couldn t live without it. Although
technology has made incredible advancements, are people losing the ability to talk to one another in a
face to face situation? It certainly seems like technology has brought us all closer together than before,
but perhaps it s pushing us all apart. When friends can be deleted with the push of a button, do our

Do Consequences Depend on Motives in Julius Caesar by...
An American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr once said, All human sin seems so much worse in its
consequences than in its intentions. In this statement, Niebuhr exclaims that the consequences of a
situation are undeniably much worse than the motivation of one s instigation of their actions. This
applies to the intentions and, more importantly, the consequences of the characters in both the play
Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps directed by Oliver
Stone. Even though some people have honorable intentions and mean no harm, the consequences can
still be disastrous. In much the same way, those with fraudulent intentions also suffer in the end.
Situations like these can be accurately viewed through both the play and the film. The characters
Brutus and Jacob Moore have no other reason but to act in a worthy way. While Cassius and Gordon
Gekko have deceptive intentions, consequences incur similar to Brutus and Jacob Moore. The
intentions may seem like the most important consideration in a decision, but, in reality, the penalties
can be the same no matter what the motives are.
A motive to kill one s best friend requires deep thinking and a reasonable intention. Brutus, Caesar s
best friend, has taken into consideration why he thinks killing Caesar is necessary. Although Brutus is
Caesar s best friend, he has to come to conclusion that murdering him is his final decision when he
asserts, Not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved Rome

Theme Of The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian
This book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, is about a boy called
Arnold Spirit aka Junior. He is a Native American that lives in an Indian Reservation. He isn t really
satisfied with his life, since he s pretty poor, but he gets along. He doesn t really accept himself, since
he has multiple medical problems, and he has been beaten up since he was little. When he starts to
gain more friends in this new (American) school, he starts to like and accept himself more than before.
In this book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian (by Sherman Alexie), the main theme is
about Arnold trying to accept himself. At first Junior didn t like himself; he was constantly beaten up,
he had a lisp and stuttered so he had no self confidence. When he made the decision to go to Reardan,
a white school, even Rowdy left him. Rowdy thought Junior was betraying their school by going away
and transferring so Rowdy didn t talk to Junior anymore. Without his best friend, Junior completely
lost hope. He was scared of the white people and did not expect them to welcome him. He was right.
Most of the Americans were cold to him and he did not try to raise his status. Many of the white
people made fun of him, and when one guy, Roger, said Did you know that Indians are living proof
that niggers f*** buffalo? (pg. 64) he felt that he had to stop it. So he punched him. Junior was
expecting to get punched back, but he didn t. In the Indian Reservation, he

Write An Essay On The Effects Of Shooting A Basketball
Basketball is a widely known game around the world. Played by both men and women it is one of the
more popular sports around. Made in December of 1891 by Dr. James Naismith it is still being played
today. Although basketball looks like a lot of running, dribbling, and shooting you ll learn that there is
a lot more things that go into it. The art of shooting a basketball is a whole lot more than just aiming at
the goal and flicking your wrist. You have to be able to have the right arc and trajectory to be able to
get the ball through the hoop. Not only do those things go into a jump shot, but also spin is very
important in shooting a shot. For instance, if you have the right speed and direction of spin on the ball
than if you miss your shot, the way the ball spins off the rim or backboard may result in you hitting a
lucky shot. The effects of air resistance of the ball are so small because of small velocities, so spin of a
shot in air is not useful. What spin is useful for is for a better chance of the ball going in if the ball hits
the rim (Kentridge). If you have the right amount of spin, trajectory, and arc on the ball than the better
chance you have of getting the perfect swish. The backspin, after contact with the back rim or board,
will result in a change in velocity opposite to the spin direction, changing an equal angle rebound into
a velocity more toward the net (Willis). Backspin is very crucial in shooting a ball. If you do not have
rotation on your ball then more than likely you will miss most of the shots you take. They will just
bounce off of the rim or backboard without having a chance of bouncing in. With the spin on a shot,

Essay On Anabolic Steroids
The use of anabolic steroids in sports
Steroids are a type of anabolic that works in the area of muscle cell construction, or may have effects
similar to those of testosterone (sex hormone male). Most of the time people who use steroids are
athletes looking to increase their muscle mass quickly. The effects of abusive use of anabolic steroids
in children and adults are difficult to occur, but can be life threatening. Basically, all athletes who use
steroids in large numbers will suffer adverse effects, such as difficulty in sperm production or
menstruation, acne, hair loss and mild psychological disorders. Many of the athletes who believe that

not know the effects of this drug. I have noticed that there are always people who use the anabolic
frequently and often they forget that this is directly related to the use of drugs, which means that it is
bad for your body, whether it is in sport or being out of the sport. The use of anabolic steroids has its
positives and the negatives and the great majority is negative, as one of the good points is that the
steroid increases your performance to do any type of exercise and also increases muscle mass with the
help of training. The negative points are much bigger than the positive ones, such as the abusive use of
anabolic steroids can bring you many health problems, such as changing your nervous system, your

  • 2. Physical Health Problems The physical health problems caused by the computers for children Introduction The invention of the electronic tools e.g. computers make people lead an efficient and convenient life. The efficiency, convenience and practicability of the electronic tools e.g. computers attract both adults and children, and make them use these tools in their daily life (Thomée, 2015). As has been seen, the use of computers and in adults work is becoming more frequent and majority of children use these tools in their daily life as well. However, the long time use of computers may caused some problems, and one of the problems is the physical health problem. When using a computer, no matter a laptop or a desktop, the user do not need to move. These behavior would normally be defined as sedentary behavior, which may make the user to do less physical exercise, fit less physically and suffer more risk of health problems. The problem may be solved by three solutions, the first seems to make children use computer in a right posture, the second may be some physical exercises and another solution seems to decrease children s time spent on computers. Physical health problem caused by computers According to Kimmerly (2009), over 90% of children aged 3 18 in the US used computers, and with children aged, more children started to use computer related activities. However, the long time of uses of these electronic tools may lead to physical health problems to children. For example visual strain, lack life ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Summary Of Our Guys Bernard Lefkowitz Book Review for Our Guys Bernard Lefkowitz The book Our Guys is more of a cultural and sociological study than just a mere crime book. Bernard provides detailed information about the story of a young girl known as Leslie who was raped by the Jocks in a town known as Glen ridge in New Jersey. The story reports that the Jocks had been in trouble since their middle years in school. However they were considered the star athletes, golden boys in a town that valued competition and athleticism. The behavior of one of the young men was so inexplicable and revolting; however, he was never charged or punished for his actions. As Bernard puts it, you would walk in a high school with a cabinet full of trophies, game balls and other accoutrements, but surprisingly, you would not be able to find the honor roll list (Lefkowitz, 1997). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They treated girls and women disrespectfully. Under no circumstances would they interact with girls in a state that showed equality. This is due to the fact that almost all their activities involved sports. What is more astonishing is that the Jockettes as Bernard calls them tolerated the vile behavior of these boys. This may be due to the fact that the girls felt that they had no identity or they were less important in the society. The Glen Ridge boys of the New Jersey, who raped Leslie, were every father s pride, every mother s pride and in fact they were Our Guys. The town of Glen Ridge emphasized on qualities such as competitiveness, sense of superiority, physical strength and belligerence. Such qualities dominated the young boys from their kindergarten to high school graduation. As Lefkowitz puts it, boys who had such qualities were highly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Persuasive Essay On Agriculture When you think of the word agriculture farming is probably the first thought that comes to mind. At its most basic element, agriculture is the way in which we produce food, the most basic human need. There is an untold amount of differing opinions on the topic of how we should grow food; smaller family farms being pitted against commercial operations, conventional agriculture against organic practices, and much of the public does not know what side to pick. Agriculture has developed into a highly controversial issue, with each view point claiming that it is the only correct way to farm; despite this, it is imperative that we lay aside our differences in opinion and come together if we are going to create a sustainable food system responsible for feeding 9 billion hungry mouths. By the year 2050, estimates show that over 9 billion people will inhabit Earth, and it is imperative that agriculture finds a way to feed them all. That is about 1.5 billion more people than there are today. One of the biggest dilemmas that agriculture faces is that relatively little more land can be converted into land used for agriculture production, without causing irreparable, detrimental effects to the environment. The damage that this would cause is the subject for another essay, but the bottom line is that it is necessary we produce this food using the land we already have. The only way we can accomplish this is to combine the best practices of organic, or small farms, with those of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Deficit Theory Essay Class is a socio economic set of groups, in which every individual falls into (Phillips, 2012), these groups include lower, working, middle and upper class. These classes impact on the resources that people have access to. This influences the environment in which a student is raised in, which also impacts their on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health, impacting their ability to succeed in education. The correlation between a student s environment, health and home can be explained by Bourdieu s class theory (Lyall, 2016), Pere s (1988) Te Wheke theory, Durie s (1994) Whare Tapa Wha theory and the Deficit theory. Children can become stressed due to experiences such as living in violent neighbourhoods, constantly moving homes and being bullied in school (Dobrin, 2012). Being stressed distracts children from learning; they don t have the ability to focus on their work while they re worrying about their home life (Levy, 2014). The deficit theory suggests that students from low income families often don t do well in school (Irizarry, 2009; Gorski, 2010). A child s ability to learn can often be based on the teacher s attitude about their learning ability. It is often instinctive for teachers to approach a child s learning with their weaknesses in mind, not their strengths (Gorski, 2010). Concentrating on what the child can t do allows for learning progress in this area, enabling the child to keep up with the rest of the class. However, this can be discouraging for children and can make them feel defined by their weaknesses. Research shows that when a teacher is actively supportive of a child s strengths and weaknesses, as well as being involved in their learning, that child will feel a better sense of belonging and engagement (Mainhard, Brekelmans, Wubbels, 2011). Peters (2013, p.1) states Child poverty often goes hand in hand with other social problems including child homicides, physical neglect and abuse, and sexual and emotional abuse . Dealing with a poor home life and an unsupportive school life can be emotionally and spiritually taxing for anybody, let alone a child. School needs to be a safe place for children to come and feel equally supported alongside other students (Levy, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This film was loosely adapted from Robert Bloch s 1959 suspense novel, Psycho. A majority of the movie was filmed in 1960 at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. Psycho is about Marion Crane (Janet Leigh), a secretary from Arizona who steals $40,000 from her employer s client. She takes that money and drives off to California to meet her lover Sam Loomis (John Gavin) in order to start a new life. This scene makes the viewer believe that she may be the possible psycho referred to by the title of the film. Another instance that manifests this idea is when ever the camera is on Norman Bates. Though he seems polite and amiable towards Crane, the shadows on his eyes represent something more dark and sinister about him. These creative uses of birds and eyes help make the film have more sharp twists and suspense by subtlety hinting at fear and death. The characters of the film present another approach that shapes suspense in the film by making the audience think that Norman Bates is a shy and caring, man who loves his mother no matter what. Bates is first introduced to the audience when he checks in Marion Crane. He acts polite towards her even offers her dinner. She exits to her room and this is when the opinion that he viewers have of Norman Bates changes. He voyeurs through a peephole into her room watching what she is doing and his actions become questionable. After the shower scene he finds Crane dead on her bathroom floor. He hides the body because he cares for his mother that much. He continues to conceal the truth even when a detective comes to question him. His mother kills the detective and he has to hide another body but his countenance changes as he hides the second body. • 11. Jonathan Swift Satire In the satirical work of Gulliver s Travels by Jonathan Swift, the author draws attention to many elements of society that can be reflected in the modern day. With further investigation into the literature, it is plain to see that Swift, an Irishman, was extremely bitter about the state of the government and the control it maintained over other regions. From incompetent rulers to a focus on reason and rationality, we can see that the themes discussed by Swift in the novel have repeated themselves throughout the historical ages. Throughout the entire story, it is noticeable to the reader that there is not much in the way of plot surrounding Gulliver, the main character. Swift does not give textual insight as to Gulliver s inner workings or thoughts. This arguably happens mainly in the genre of satire because the author wants the reader to focus most of their attention on the social or political that are being referenced to within the writing. The same holds true for this story, as Swift heavily hints at the incompetency of King George I. One of the main points that Swift draws attention to is that of the gross incompetency and corruption of the various rulers. For instance, in Book One, the emperor of Lilliput is egocentric and for the most part, lets his ministers run the country. This is a distinct hint at the King George I of England, who did not know anything about politics and allowed parliament to do most of the ruling, holding him simply as a power figure. However, ... It is a major hub of public recreational fishing in New York State and contains a variety of fish including Chinook, Coho, and Atlantic Salmon as well as Brown Trout and many others. The Salmon River was an extremely productive tributary into the late 19th century. The Atlantic Salmon is an appropriate fish to study because of it s importance globally. It is a commonly eaten fish, and is very prevalently produced used in aquaculture techniques. In addition to that, it s a fish that has seen a dramatic population decline globally. There are major conservation efforts concerning it, specifically on the coast of Maine. It is an anadromous fish, and typically spends 2 3 years in freshwater, then spends about 2 3 years in the ocean and then returns to it s native river to spawn. This makes it very vulnerable to the conditions it may face in both environments. The general approach of this study will follow similar methodology to the approach used in Ward 2006. • 14. The 17th Amendment Of The United States Constitution The 17th Amendment The American government was created based on the principle of federalism, the system of government that establishes a written constitution that divides the powers of government to a federal and state level. The U.S. Federal Government consists of three branches, the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial. It also utilizes checks and balances so these branches have equal power. The main goal of federalism is to balance the central government with the state government, and initially the U.S. Constitution established that the Senate shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature (US Const. Article I, Section 3). However, in 1912 the 17th Amendment was ratified, which changed how Senators are elected. Instead of the people voting for state legislators who elect Senators, the people elected the Senators, making the election process of Senators a direct democracy. The Framers chose to create a republic instead of direct democracy in order to prevent social and elite groups from taking power. The 17th Amendment goes against does not just oppose the Constitution, but it also disputes the ideology of the American Government as a federal republic. Although most supporters of the 17th Amendment believe that it serves as a better mechanism for a representative government, it is unconstitutional because of its opposing qualities against the Framers who created the United States government with the vision of federalism and a republic. • 15. Examples of Genetically Engineered Foods Example 1: Genetically engineering fish to have fluorescent glows One of the most disturbing scientific findings of recent years was the extent of the influence upon the endocrine system of various common chemicals, industrial products, and common pharmaceuticals such as birth control pills. To track the presence of endocrine disruptors within the bodies of fish, which have been shown to be particularly vulnerable to the changes caused by such products in the environment, scientists genetically engineered zebra fish embryos to glow in places where an endocrine disrupting chemical is present over the course of the fish s development and thus show where it may be harming the body (Handwerk 2012). The genetic engineering using proteins found in glowing jellyfish naturally in the wild is specifically designed to not interfere with the fish s natural systems, yet still provides a way of tracking how the chemicals act in the body using a fluorescent microscope. Example 2: Genetically engineering chloroplasts Genetically engineering the chloroplasts of plants is considered to be one of the more effective forms of producing hardier plants through the use of genetic modification. It allows for a high level of transgene expression, or genes that are transmitted from generation to generation. According to Daniell (et al 2005), chloroplast alteration permits multi gene engineering in a single transformation event and transgene containment by maternal inheritance, as well as a ... Willy would frequently tell Biff and Happy of the admiration others had for him; for example, Willy informed his boys of how he met the Mayor of Providence for coffee. When the boys were young Willy would often mention his success any chance he got. Therefore, as children, Biff and Happy adopted their father as a notable role model. Because of Willy s remarks, the boys viewed their father as a very successful, well respected businessman. For instance, Willy told them, I never have to wait to see a buyer....I go right through (Miller 21). Willy s incessant speeches of his success only reinforced the flawless persona he had created. This is when the same location, business, vehicle or household suffers more than one crime event over a specified time period. The offence may be the same or a contrasting type (McLaughlin Muncie 2013, p.377). One reason for this is because offenders know that victims will often replace what has been taken by an insurance claim. • 32. Do Consequences Depend on Motives in Julius Caesar by... An American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr once said, All human sin seems so much worse in its consequences than in its intentions. In this statement, Niebuhr exclaims that the consequences of a situation are undeniably much worse than the motivation of one s instigation of their actions. This applies to the intentions and, more importantly, the consequences of the characters in both the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare and film Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps directed by Oliver Stone. Even though some people have honorable intentions and mean no harm, the consequences can still be disastrous. In much the same way, those with fraudulent intentions also suffer in the end. Situations like these can be accurately viewed through both the play and the film. The characters Brutus and Jacob Moore have no other reason but to act in a worthy way. While Cassius and Gordon Gekko have deceptive intentions, consequences incur similar to Brutus and Jacob Moore. The intentions may seem like the most important consideration in a decision, but, in reality, the penalties can be the same no matter what the motives are. A motive to kill one s best friend requires deep thinking and a reasonable intention. Brutus, Caesar s best friend, has taken into consideration why he thinks killing Caesar is necessary. Made in December of 1891 by Dr. James Naismith it is still being played today. Although basketball looks like a lot of running, dribbling, and shooting you ll learn that there is a lot more things that go into it. The art of shooting a basketball is a whole lot more than just aiming at the goal and flicking your wrist. You have to be able to have the right arc and trajectory to be able to get the ball through the hoop. Not only do those things go into a jump shot, but also spin is very important in shooting a shot. For instance, if you have the right speed and direction of spin on the ball than if you miss your shot, the way the ball spins off the rim or backboard may result in you hitting a lucky shot. The effects of air resistance of the ball are so small because of small velocities, so spin of a shot in air is not useful. What spin is useful for is for a better chance of the ball going in if the ball hits the rim (Kentridge). If you have the right amount of spin, trajectory, and arc on the ball than the better chance you have of getting the perfect swish. The backspin, after contact with the back rim or board, will result in a change in velocity opposite to the spin direction, changing an equal angle rebound into a velocity more toward the net (Willis). Backspin is very crucial in shooting a ball. If you do not have rotation on your ball then more than likely you will miss most of the shots you take. They will just bounce off of the rim or backboard without having a chance of bouncing in. With the spin on a shot, some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
