Ethical Issues In A Hospital
For this assignment, I spent time volunteering at Mercy Downtown, helping at the main information
desk. While I was there, I assisted visitors in finding patients by looking up their room number,
directed patients and visitors to the correct area of the hospital, and delivered flowers to rooms that
had been dropped off. A paid employee also accompanied me while there, as volunteers are not
allowed to actually look up patient information via the online portal, but I could call a different help
desks within the hospital to ask other paid employees to look patients up for me if needed. The
experience made me realize that there are so many little unthought of components to making a
hospital as big as Mercy be efficient for everyone. The information ... Show more content on

I have learned that no matter how many times people tell me not to judge a person by their
appearance, I have grown up in a world where we still do it daily regardless of how hard we try not to.
I go back and forth thinking about whether it s right or wrong to so openly give out patient room
numbers but in the end, I think it s really only fair to do so. I think there could be changes, if possible
phone up to a room and ask the patient if they know so and so, and if they want them to come to their
room. Another option might be calling the nurses station or something on the floor, but I can only
imagine how crazy that would drive employees who are trying to do their jobs. I can guess that most
health care related organizations come across many situations and circumstances that could sway
between ethical and unethical, and the decision about what to do is probably very difficult. It has been
made very clear to me now, as to why hospitals have boards of directors with members from different
backgrounds, so that there is really someone pulling from every angle to try and think about all the
options to help make a sound

Dna Is Not A Bodily Fluid
DNA is not a bodily fluid, but is genetic information that can be identified through a bodily fluid.
According to a scholarly journal article, in the Nineteenth century law enforcement agencies began to
collect, organize, analyze and store collections of DNA samples for forensic purposes (big brother).
DNA is extremely useful when nailing a suspect who it has been traced to. The biological evidence
left at a crime scene comes along with a great story that has yet to be told through bodily fluids such
as semen, blood or saliva found at the crime scene. These bodily fluids become key evidence to
solving a case.
There are numerous cases that have been solved based on the findings of DNA through multiple
bodily fluids left at a crime scene. The case that I had chose was E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al.
Petitioners v. Troy Brown, which was a case that dealt with semen taken from a rape kit. Although the
subject of rape could a be a touchy subject for most people, I find cases that deal with such a
horrendous act to be very interesting due to how the case is investigated and the measures it takes to
find the evidence needed to solve the case.
In the case of E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al. Petitioners v. Troy Brown, on January 29, 1994, at 1a.m.
9 year old, Jane Doe was brutally raped in her trailer bedroom. Residing near Jane Doe s trailer were
two brothers, Troy and Travis. Across from Jane Doe s trailer resided Troy and Travis other brother,
Trent along with his girlfriend,

The Time Of Cholera By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay
Is Gabriel García Márquez s legendary novel, Love in the Time of Cholera, truly a love story ?
Unfortunately, García Márquez does not deal in the art of drug store romance novels, as the narrative
of Love in the Time of Cholera cannot be reduced to its themes, or moral schema. (Wilson 280) His
novel does not feed us a singular concept of true love in the same way such notions have been
popularized in western media and literature it is far more complex and multifarious than such, which
is part of the reason Love in the Time of Cholera maintains such high critical acclaim. It is not one,
singular love story with black and white division between true and illusionary romance, but a twist on
such. Love in the Time of Cholera is rather a story of many loves from Florentino and Fermina, to
Fermina and Dr. Urbino, to Fermina and Hildebranda, to Florentino and his lovers, and so on; all the
loves in this novel are genuine, and are nothing besides love.
Of course, the author himself expresses that all the stories he has written are love stories , but in the
case of the dysfunctional romances in Love in the Time of Cholera, do the principles of conventional
true love hold true?
There is plenty of evidence that it does not. Florentino Ariza, as pointed out by Fermina Daza, is in
love with an illusion he is in love with the idea of love, rather than feeling genuine passion for
Fermina as a person. Marriage, which by conventional standards should be a testament to

Little Red Riding Hood Vs Goldilocks
Compare and Contrast Essay Reading the childhood stories Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks
and the Three Bears, have you ever thought why did the main characters make the decisions that they
chose? Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears both were face to face with
animals, but in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Goldilocks intruded the bears home and in Little Red
Riding Hood, the wolf intruded Granny s home. While little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the
Three Bears are both fairytales that we grew up reading, there are many differences between the two
which makes each one unique. The decisions, main characters traits, and the theme show many
similarities, yet many differences as well. First, there are many similarities

My Parents s Migration To The United States

welcome others with open arms.
I grew up in a multicultural household, my father came from Peru and my mother came from
Colombia. Both of my parents are proud of their respective countries and heritage. They both embrace
each other s cultures by celebrating traditions and preparing food native to both countries. Having
open minded parents has taught me to experiment with new foods, music, and hobbies without

Managing And Securing Unstructured Data
With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of information
generated and shared in social networking sites and across various industries. This has led to storing
and access issues with regards to unstructured data.
Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying to handle it. In
simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be stored in the form of rows and
columns. It can be anything including email files, text documents, presentations, image and video
files.
Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1 ZB = 1 billion
TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is unstructured and ... Show more

Also backup and restore will take a lesser time
Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the size of databases
which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these databases and can cause performance
issues with I/O subsystems
The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual links between
database and external file system files which can potentially go out of sync. Also since data is stored
outside the system the backups are not consistent and unstructured data is not a part of the transaction.
Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above, another method
was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to support a new data type filestream .
Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document
framework with the referential integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database
engine. In SQL Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the
information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information in the document
framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are under database transactional
consistency. By carrying out research with different datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and
filestream data type approach is faster

The Development of AI in The AI Revolution is on by...
When the earth began there was no life, it was a world of fire and oceans of lava, after thousands of
year s life began in the ocean and soon came onto land. The land creatures developed into dinosaurs
which ruled the world for thousands of years until a meteor wiped them out and a great ice age came.
Once the ice age ended monkeys came and from them humans. We have been around for two thousand
years and now we have created artificial intelligence which is becoming more and more integrated
into our ever increasingly complicated world to make it simpler but have humans also created the next
cycle of evolution? The AI Revolution is on by Steven Levy is about Artificial intelligence (AI). Levy
writes about how the AI came around and how it affects our daily life. Levy explains impeccably how
its developers strayed away from imitating human intelligence, and how it is integrated into our
society. Levy has been reporting on digital technology for over twenty five years and his articles have
been published in many distinguished magazines according to Writing and Reading Across the
Curriculum. Levy s article begins by talking about how robots are used in ware houses that are linked
to a main computer that tells the robots what they need to get. The ware house is organized in small
groups of products spread out threw out it, this way the robots don t have to travel as far to get the
product but to a human it looks like a random pile or stuff that isn t sorted at all. Levy goes on

Guided Pathway Analysis
Hi Paul:
The other day, I had a discussion with both Marjane and Jim concerning Dr. Lewis email about
working on the psychology mapping for the guided pathway efforts. Without going into speculations
about her motives, I think it is important that we are prepared to develop a BHS map program for the
guided pathway efforts.
I would like to stress that the BHS program merits its own mapping for the guided pathway efforts.
Nonetheless, we need to be prepared for any curve balls that the PSY Department will throw our way.
Paul, since you will be the BHS voice at the Guided Pathways Mapping Meeting this week, here are a
few Curve Balls that we might need to rebuttal.
Curve Ball I:
I believe that individuals in the psychology department ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Southwest Airline Case Analysis
Southwest Airline s Strategies:
Southwest Airline s successful strategy consists of three complementary qualities which are focus,
divergence and compelling tagline. This short haul airline believes that by focusing on friendly
service, speed and frequent point to point departures, its low pricing is able to compete against car
transportation. While other competitors try to delight customers by investing in meals, airport lounges
and seating selections, Southwest chooses to eliminate or reduces investments in these industry s
competitive factors. As a result, Southwest s low prices are unbeatable making them the preferred
airline in the industry. With a divergence element in Southwest s strategy, it is able to innovate and
stand apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first source of competitive advantage is its low price tickets. After the terrorist attacks in Sept
2001 where most of the airlines were making losses due to a decline in air travelers, Southwest was
still in a good shape due to its low cost model. Most of the travelers are willing to give up comfort
such as in flight entertainment and fancy seats for a cheaper ticket. Secondly, cost advantage for
Southwest plays a huge part in its competitive advantage. Only Boeing 737s are used and only coach
seats are offered. This leads to the competency of Southwest s crews on 737 which helps to achieve
faster turnaround time on the ground. Company cost of training, maintenance and inventory decreased
significantly as well. The third competitive advantage is the cultural values that are instilled in
Southwest s organization. Employees are placed first and are armed with tremendous information that
assists in understanding the company s mission, customers and competition. Happy employees lead to
satisfied customers through excellent customer services.
Southwest Airline s Strategic Issues:
While Southwest s excellent strategy should be applauded, there are a few strategic issues that can
weaken its position in the face of various potential challenges. The first strategic issue lies in the
challenge of preserving cultural values with Southwest s growth. This Southwest culture was designed
to work in a small

The Comedy Of Menace
Irving Wardle first mentioned the term Comedy of Menace (Wardle 39) who borrowed it from the title
of David Campton s play The Lunatic View: A Comedy of Menace in 1958. (Campton s title Comedy
of Menace is a humorous play on words resulted from comedy of manners). This term describes a play
which draws a realistic image while creating a connotation of intrigue and confusion, though the
dramatists were employing a prestidigitation trick. Susan Hollis Merritt points out that in Comedy of
Menace Wardle first applies this label to Pinter s work ... describ[ing] Pinter as one of several

MEG. What? (Her face appears at the hatch.) Are you back?
PETEY. Yes.(Pinter, 2)
This kind of communication carries the sense of humor in audience. In the following interaction
between these two characters, Pinter introduces us to two fools living together while they cannot
comprehend each other s existence. The same exchange happens when they talk about Stanley:
MEG: Is Stanley up yet?
PETEY: I don t know. Is he?
MEG: I don t know. I haven t seen him down yet.
PETEY: Well then, he can t be up.
MEG: Haven t you seen him down?
PETEY: I ve only just come in.
MEG. He must be still asleep. (4) And this cycle of foolish conversation repeats here and there in the
play. Pinter humorously provides ironies in The Birthday Party. One is about Meg and Petey s house
which is a naturalistic small English home. But, Pinter wants us to think that home is a safe place to
live in peace without any menace or intrusion while this house in the play is a boarding house and
every strange, who can be an evil or an instrument of menace, can come and stay and cause threat and
fear. For example, Stanley who has created a safe home from the boarding house through the past
year, now is invaded by Goldberg and MacCann and this is a menace for him so it is not easy for him

Billy s Top Trait By Billy Essay
Throughout the semester, Billy took on a vocal yet non leadership role. The biggest drawback of Billy
s participation was his frequent absences. Billy s top trait according to StrengthQuest is Competition. I
think Billy strongly showed Competition in both positive and negative ways. In both BizCafe and
other minor activities, competition acted as a motivator for Billy, being more engaged when more was
on the line. This was a benefit in direct competition, like the dice stacking game early on in the
semester. The competition with others helped Billy focus, brainstorming new ideas and strategies to
defeat the other groups. However, this became a drawback when less was on the line. In more
straightforward activities, like creating an advertisement for hiring employees, Billy would be less
creative and less engaged when there was no competition. In non competitive scenarios, Billy would
complete his part of the work and contribute, but he would be less driven and less creative.
While displaying some traits of Initiator Contributor, I think Billy s main role in our group was
Energizer. Having a gregarious personality, Billy naturally adds energy to group work. This was most
evident in highly collaborative group work like weekly BizCafe decisions. When Billy was in class
and engaged, he helped us stay on topic and try to find the best solution. He did this primarily by
supporting the strategies of others. A recent example of this was our decision for week eleven in
BizCafe. When

Glass Animals is a four piece art pop band from Oxford, England. As of 2016, they have released two

several countries. Glass Animals are known for their distinct percussion and surreal soundscapes.
Their style is often described as airy, and take a lot of influence from field recordings taken in rain

well made indie pop. The reason that I ve been so harsh on this despite the fact that I like it is because
I think that Glass Animals rely too much on a formula that definitely works for two or three songs in a

very simple formula. And even though this formula is very simple, it s also great fun to listen to and

Introduction:
Black Gold is the other name for petroleum, the reason being, it is black when it is extracted, and

Section I, Question 1: In Shearing and Stenning s From the Panopticon to Disney World, the world
renowned fantasy amusement park is revealed to be a compelling embodiment of Michel Foucault s
ideas regarding the disciplinary society. In Foucault s writings on the prison panopticon his idea of a
perfected disciplinary institution of a disciplinary society Foucault describes how inmates (or Disney s
guests) behavior and movements is overseen and tightly controlled (Dillon, p. 371). This level of
control is clear from the moment you enter Disney: barriers, guardrails, and directions guide you to
preordained locations, and Disney employees and rides reinforce those restrictions and guidances at
numerous points throughout your visit (Shearing, p. 301 302). More significantly, in the panopticon
design, inmates are always under surveillance. Further, inmates are aware they are always under
surveillance even if they cannot see their supervisor so that they begin monitoring their own actions to
conform with rules and restrictions (Dillon, p. 371). At Disney, once a guest breaks the rules or
regulations, they quickly become aware that they are being surveilled. Park employees in unassuming
costumes seemingly unrelated to security or rule enforcement are trained to enforce rules and hold
guests accountable as soon as they act out of line, making clear to guests that they are always being
surveilled even if they cannot see the supervisors

Comparing The Polar Express And The Side Of Truth
Though written in different centuries, The Polar Express and the poem The Side Of Truth use
emotional imagery to emphasize character transformation and acceptance of truth. Both The Polar
Express and The Side of Truth stimulate features of truth and innocence throughout every piece of
writing. There is an extensive amount of loss of innocence in The Polar Express exposed by the
murder of hero boy s innocence, and beliefs, all done by his cruel companion who believes that the
idea of the Big Man is fabricated and childish. This book in particular captures the magic of childhood
with sensitivity and grace. (Mifflin, Web). Hero boy goes from being this uplifting young boy with

He uses his surrounding landscape, a lot in his poems and it paints a very real picture. This one speaks
of the sea and sand. The meeting between two worlds, which also serves the theme of the poem.
Thomas suggests that the reality that any one of us find ourselves in, actually becomes our truth. But
there is also always a choice, good and bad in everything. This is a very thought provoking and
profound poem. This one especially allows the reader to draw his or her own conclusion. The Polar
Express conveys a picture of innocence and truth; it correlates to The side of Truth because of the
meeting between two worlds . Each end comes a fresh start and every good thing in life; a fresher,
grander view is attained with clearness. The Side of Truth relates with blue because it is figuratively

Soccer Vs American Culture
Two of the most popular sports worldwide have drastically different followings. Even though people
say soccer is more popular, there is no real debate on why football is king. Both sports have impacted
citizens and changed cultures, but which one is ultimately better?
The first football game was played about one hundred and fifty years ago, and since has grown to have
the largest followings in the United States. American people have grown up in a society that is
swarmed by a Footballistic Culture. During the fall season all talks and conversations are about how
good the Patriots are doing or who has the best fantasy team, but by now this seems normal. To an

The United States has its own favoritism of sports, and is captivated by football. Soccer, for the rest of
the world, is an all time classic. It brings neighborhoods, family, and teams together to participate in a
game that seems a little simple. The problem with soccer is that for some it s too basic, there aren t
enough opportunities to score and the players seem to just run around for ninety minutes. What soccer
lacks is the depth of strategy and the ability for players to specialize. Some plays can be attempted, but
they are usually unsuccessful due to the position of the teams players and the lack of communication
across the field. When players are halfway across the field, it s difficult to communicate a play and
getting closer requires running which results in a loss of energy. Another reason why soccer isn t as
interesting is the fact that scoring occurs infrequently and sometimes never. Nobody wants to sit in a
stadium for three hours to watch a game where the final score will be one to zero; where s the
enjoyment in that! The overall play of the game comes off as boring, watching athletes kick a ball up
the field makes the game unbearable to watch. Arguably one of the worst features about soccer is the
fact that athletes never change sides, resulting in some players striking upfront while the others hang
back for defense.

My Dad Had A Chronic Breathing Disorder
My boy is about to be a college freshman my dad said, looking at Johan put on his cap and gown
before his graduation. I remember there were times I felt, I d never see this day he proclaimed. My
dad had a chronic breathing disorder. Our family doctor has said he probably has died in his sleep
many of times and didn t realize it.
It was a scary thing. I hoped I d never have to be with him alone because I didn t want him to croak on
me. I was too young to see that. I heard those type deaths replayed in the minds of the child all
through their lives. I definitely didn t want the last image of my father falling over dead.
Everybody, let s gather around and take a photograph before going off to the graduation , my aunt
announced. My family was really proud because Johan was the oldest in our generation. He set the
example for me and my cousins. My brother was graduating from high school as a Valedictorian. His
class ended up with 3 top students.
If you d look at Johan, you wouldn t think he was that smart. He always had something about himself
that was odd to many people. I guess that s where his uniqueness stood out.
I m so excited, this family hasn t had to do this in ten years my grandma shouted. We all laughed at
her, she acted if she was graduating herself. Our family believes in celebrating accomplishment and
life. Whenever something great happened, you better believe it was a dinner or some type of reward
coming out of the ordeal. I couldn t wait to see this

The Biblical Canon Of The Bible
The Biblical Canon For as long as records have been maintained, the Bible remains the bestselling
book worldwide, year after year (Jeynes, 2012). One might be curious about the reasons it is popular,
or more importantly, how did it come about. Called the canon of Scriptures, or a list , it is the
compilation of biblical books regarded by Christians as uniquely authoritative (Klein, Blomberg,
Hubbard, Jr., 1993, p. 103). It includes 66 books encompassing thousands of years of history, written
in multiple genres, and authored by many individuals. Inclusion into the canon required the necessity
of scripture to meet specific criteria. Careful study dictated what became standard for believers (Klein,
Blomberg, Hubbard, Jr., 1993). A person s understanding of the canonization of the Bible will affect
how they will view the validity and authoritativeness of God s Word.
Old Testament In order to be declared acceptable to be included within the canon there are specific
criteria that are considered for the Old Testament. One of the first questions asked by the curious
reader is, Who authored the Old Testament? The easy and most appropriate answer to that important
question is God. That is to say that the Bible is divinely inspired and is an important, the most
important, criterion for acceptance into the canon (Detweiler, 1985).ne can look to 2 Timothy 3:16 for
confirmation, all of scripture is God breathed (NIV). Evidence is found in scripture itself. For instance

first ethical dilemma is determining if the patient has determine making capacity (Brady, 1996). Does

Waivers provide necessary legal protections for speech therapists, but they must be used
responsibility. Horner, et al. (2016) states waivers try to shift liability for substandard care from health
care providers to patients, courts usually find waivers of liability in the medical context unenforceable
as a matter or public policy . The article also argues that waivers of liability undermine the
relationship of trust that is essential to the patient practitioner relationship by placing the professional
s interest above the best interest of the patient (pg. 15) . This is in direct violation of ASHA s first
principle. Another possible solution might be educating the patient in a different way to make sure she
fully understands what is occurring. For example, the speech therapist may actually show the patient
her modified barium swallow study to see the aspiration. This presentation of information in a
different modality or a second opinion from another therapist may help the client fully understand

The House Of The Seven Gabless Analysis
Salem State University professor, Aviva Chomsky, spoke at the House of the Seven Gables, on
Thursday Sept. 14, about the 1933 Pequot Mills Strike, and its connection to modern labor issues
facing the U.S. today. The House of the Seven Gables welcomed back Chomsky, as a guest speaker,
for the final presentation of their ongoing speaker series, Life and Labor over Four Centuries at the
House of the Seven Gables. Ana Nuncio, Settlement Programs Manager at the House of Seven Gables
said, The Gables is proud to include professor Avi Chomsky in its roster of speakers this year, and that
Chomsky is an engaging speaker with much to say on topics that are relevant to our Salem
community, such as labor issues and immigrant rights.
Chomsky s talk on the 1933 Pequot mills strike, now the site of Shetland Park, chronicled the issues
faced by the mostly immigrant workers, of automation, productivity, unemployment, and wage
disparity that still face the workers of today.
The workers of the Pequot mills were Irish, French Canadian, and Polish immigrants that resided
mostly in the Point Neighborhood of Salem. These immigrant workers were prompted to strike due to
issues of unemployment and forced increased productivity caused by new innovations in loom
technology.
Chomsky described how, One mill worker could now run 1,000 looms instead of just one, leaving 999
mill workers unemployed. With communist party influence, and concern for the working class, the
mill workers struck in 1933. This strike influenced all of Salem as almost half of all residents were
employed by the Pequot mills. The mill workers met to discuss the strike at the Saltonstall school, and
marched down Lafayette Street in protest of the unfair labor conditions and wages.
Chomsky highlighted the solidary of the mill workers by showing a document created by the strikers
that said, If we lose this strike, all textile workers will be effected. Chomsky pointed out that even then
people were thinking about the global influence of workers rights.
The Pequot mills strike, were finally resolved when President Roosevelt sent mediators to reach a
consensus between the striking workers, and the employers. The Pequot mills strike and the worker s

Monty Python And The Holy Grail 1975 Directed By Terry...
The infamous British film known as Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1975 directed by Terry Gilliam
and Terry Jones, was considered a cult classic among the comedy genre. But what made it so
significant among other films during that era, and why is does it still stand the test of time? Classical
films were originally considered more than just another form of entertainment. This form of media
allowed artist to visually express their personal views through the big screen. Some film makers tend
to lean more on either the avant garde or political side of cinema to tell their story. Being able to
utilize film techniques in the most sophisticated ways to tell a narrative is a challenge, but aesthetics

It is a reaction to the concept of modernism; a style or movement in the arts that aims to depart
significantly from classical and traditional forms in the early 20th century. Postmodern lacks a precise
definition, but share many aspects of modernism. They are fueled by post industrialization, and driven
by late capitalism. However, there are a few distinctions that make it quite deliberate from its
predecessor. According to Fredric Jameson s theory, the experience of an art is mediated by
technology and/or capitalism so we no longer experience things as natural (Jameson 64). In other
words there are effects that create this erosion of high culture and low culture. In addition of devaluing
historical contexts, while lacking an ideology because the focus on a surface image of the art.
Furthermore, it refocuses on the individual rather than the singular subject. The basic concept of
postmodernism is the refusal to think historically, and disdain for the thought of underlying reality as
actuality. Overall postmodernism is broad, but very retrospective in terms of content, form and style
within cinema. It is all about recycling materials in order to reproduce for the interest of the individual
being rather than a singularity subject. On the other hand, Monty Python and the Holy Grail style and
form are what separate itself from the masses of classical cinema, whether artistic or mainstream. The

Sigmund Freud s Psycholyncy Stages In My Vignette
In my vignette, the subject is about Susie. Susie lives with her mother, father, older sister and a
newborn baby brother. Susie is 7 years old and is in the second grade, at the parent teacher conference
her math teacher, Mr. Rankin informs her parents of Susie s problematic behavior at school. He
mentions that Susie had thrown a tantrum while using vulgar language upon receiving a bad score on
her exam, complaining about deserving a better grade. When her parents confronted her about this she
claimed that she is actually smart but Mr. Rankin is a horrible teacher. Additionally, Susie explained
that she is behaving this way in her other classes because she feels that none of her teachers like her.
After a few weeks had passed there was a noticeable shift in Susie s behavior, rather than lashing out
when she is angry or overwhelmed Susie bites her nails and chews on her pencil.
Psychologist Sigmund Freud s psychoanalytic theory proposes that our childhood sexuality and
unconscious motivations influence our personality. As we grow we develop in coordinance with Freud
s Psychosexual Stages, where our Id s pleasure seeking energy focuses on distinct erogenous zones.
According to Freud s Stages of Psychosexual Development Susie is in the Latency Stage. The Latency
Stage ranges from the age of 6 to puberty, during this stage individuals are experiencing a phase of
dormant sexual feelings, this means that sexual feelings are present but are not yet developing at this

Physics in Bow and Arrow Shooting
When people think of shooting a bow they may think of back in time when the Indians used to shoot
their longbows. When you look at it from that perspective it seems like bows are such a simple piece
of equipment. Unless you ve really sat down and looked at a compound bow you wouldn t understand
that there can be so many parts to make it function properly. For example, the string moving at such a
high rate of speed to launch the arrow, then comes to a complete stop in just a fraction of a second
with very minimal vibration. How does that not tear something up?
There are several key parts to know that is on a compound bow: cam, limbs, string, and riser.
A cam is what makes the difference between a plain recurve and a compound bow. A cam is a
particular object at the top and bottom of a bow that rotates as you pull the string of the bow back.
Now why are cams such a big advancement to that of a recurve? Cams allow bows to shoot higher feet
per second and allow the arrow to have more kinetic energy, thus make the arrow travel faster and
further, and penetrate deeper into the object you are shooting.
With the invention of cams, came the very helpful let off. Unlike recurves, compounds have
specifically shaped cams to allow for let off. This means, when you are drawing back your bow it is
not a constant 60 to 70 pound pull back the whole time, it gives you a break. With a compound bow
set on a 70 pound draw weight, you might only draw 70 pounds back have off your draw length, then

Pros And Cons Of Gimo
GITMO is still open because it is a US military base in the Caribbean that provides a strategic
foothold into Latin America and probably irritates the Castro regime to no end. If you are asking why
GITMO is still being used as a facility for the detention of personnel that have been identified as
terrorists or insurgents; that would be because we don t want to house them in the contiguous United
States and there are limited other options for where to move the remaining detainees without another
country being willing to take custody or a military tribunal to determine the guilt or innocence of the
individual in detention.
The promise made by President Obama was a cute promise made by a man who wanted to be elected
as our President, but had yet to realize the undertaking that it would be to actually take to close
GITMO as a detention facility. I agree, that GITMO should be closed as a detention facility because
this should not be the responsibility of the US people to continue playing world police. I would make

Another aspect of rational choice theory is the amount of pleasure that is received form a crime.
Receiving pleasure from a crime can be a sexual gratification, monetary rewards that make one happy,
or any other enjoyable aspect an individual receives from committing a crime. If there is pleasure
involved in the crime, then the offender is more likely to keep committing a crime whereas if someone
commits a crime and there was little to no pleasure involved in it, they will be less likely to keep

The United States Health Care System Essay
The United States health care system is lacking the needs to create a reliable system to achieve quality,
access, cost, and educate for the consumers. Despite the efforts of the government to find a common
ground to meet the standard for the societies, the system has yet to have a major improvement. These
issues must be reexamined to fix the broken system. The United States health care expenditure is
another issue that needs to be addressed to achieve the future goals of the healthcare system in the
United States. Healthcare societies will need to interact differently by incorporating consumer s
empowerment, technology, and education to meet the future goals of the health care system. Also, the
consumer must be highly educated on the purpose of preventive care to lower the risk of chronic
diseases which account for a lot health care spending. The process of correcting the United States
health care system will take time and effort from all individual to achieve greatness. What is the
perfect health care system and how to achieve that system? Unfortunately, we will never achieve what
is considered the perfect health care system because we don t proceed perfection as the same. Some
may believe that a blue sky with a hint of sunlight is the perfect opportunity to embrace the use of
Vitamin D, and others may believe it is too hot to be out. So, again the healthcare system will never be
perfect, but we can try to incorporate all Americans with the decision making process.

The Impact Of The Space Race
Did you know that the Soviet Union was the first to launch something outside of Earth s orbit? In the

ever could, during the Space Race. First of all, they were the first to start the Space Race and
continually kept going onward to try new concepts and/or more concepts. On the other hand, the
Soviet Union were more focused on witnessing who s better. Finally, the Soviet Union were the ones
who sent multiple of inventions into space, but still had a bunch of trial and error and learned what

To begin with, the Space Race began all because of the Soviet Union and they kept pushing on to

The Role Of Urban Life In The 19th Century
It cannot be denied that the late 18th century and early 19th century were revolutionary eras.
Significant and remarkable events such as the industrial revolution, the evolution of rural areas, the
development of new inventions and machinery, the rise of capitalism and individualism, but more
importantly, people migrating from rural to urban areas to have a better lifestyle, were topics clearly
depicted in the writings of Ferdinand Tönnies, Georg Simmel, Jane Jacobs, Robert Putnam, Barry
Wellman, and Barry Leighton. All these authors made great contributions to the study of urban life and
contemporary urban sociology. Tönnies s, Simmel s, Jacobs s, Putnam s, Wellman s, and Leighton s
writings mainly illustrate the dramatic changes that the world faced as a result of the transition from
traditional society to a modern, industrial and urban society. Furthermore, these writers developed
concepts to explain human interaction in metropolitan areas and to explain how modernity and
urbanity have changed dramatically the nature of human interactions. In Community and Society,
Tönnies (1887) discusses the concepts of Gemeinschaft (community) and Gesellschaft (society).
According to these concepts, people living in community and people living in a society will develop a
different type of will; these are essential will and arbitrary will. Tönnies explains that individuals who

The farmers wanted restrictions on railroads, buffer from market, and increase in money supply and

and Alliances were organizations formed to help bring the farmers together, and help them to make
cooperatives so as to make a profit. These two systems were a large step in the emergence of the
Populist movement. The Granges were first started by Oliver H. Kelley, an Agriculture Department
official. The Grange came first and was created as a social organization for farmers. The
Grange system wanted to bring farmers together to learn new scientific agricultural techniques, create
a feeling of community between farmers, and organize cooperatives.
The Granges were temporarily successful, but eventually failed because of inexperience and
opposition of the middlemen. The decline of the Grange movement made way for the
Farmers Alliances. The Alliance started in Texas in 1877 and welcomed men and women alike. They,
like the Granges, formed cooperatives so as to free the farmers from the dependence on the large
corporations. The Alliances spread quickly, but still had some of the same problems the Granges had

Willy Loman Is To Blame
In this essay I will be writing about how much Willy Loman is to blame and is not to blame for his
own actions. Willy Loman is a sixty three year old man who is depicted to be on the verge of a
breakdown. Loman is a very delusional character who appears to live predominantly in the past, which
is made clear from his tone and Miller s stage directions which demonstrate the use of expressionism.
At the heart of everything Willy does, lay his children: Biff and Happy. All the same, every dream
Willy ever has had has been rooted by the idea of the American Dream the idea of having the perfect

The son a pioneer inventor and the slave of the industrialised world, Willy Loman exemplifies the
victim of a changing capitalistic society. Arthur Miller eludes to this even in the character s name
Loman, which pronounced correctly reveals the words Low man. Death of a Salesman engages the
audiences conflicting attitudes toward this changing society: fear of the new and unfamiliar and to
accommodate technology to cultural mythologies by subordinating it personally. This is evident in
Howard s office, who is Willy s boss. In this scene Willy is going to ask to work in New York but
instead of getting his office job, he is fired. Willy has now lost everything: his years of service, his
pride and his salary because he is no longer as productive as he once was. This scene not only marks a
tragic point in Willy s life it also gives proof of the changes that occur in a capitalist system. Willy s
termination goes along with the out with the old and in with the new theory of such a system. Again,
this leaves us thinking that as a tragic protagonist, Willy Loman is not culpable for his own actions; In
fact, society is. If capitalist views had not become the culture for 1940 America then perhaps Willy
would not be suffering like he is. He became a salesman because he was told and believed that if he

Budget And Financial Issues Of The United States
BUDGET AND FINANCIAL ISSUES At its formation, the UN had inherited financial problems from
its predecessor the League of Nations (McDermott, 2000). Seventy years down the lane, financial
problems have been at the core of the UN activities in peacekeeping missions. Thus, the issue of
budgetary crisis with regards to financing old and new peacekeeping operations continue to persist.
According to McDermott (2000), peacekeeping have been both the making and near breaking of the
organization. On one hand, peacekeeping expansion from traditional peacekeeping to peacekeeping
and now peacebuilding have contributed to the exponential growth of the organization. On the other
hand, the spread out of peacekeeping increases cost and have overly ... Show more content on

As peacekeeping missions are organized on adhoc basis, each peacekeeping mission budget is
authorized separately, and member states are assessed per mission. It is interesting to point out that the
peacekeeping budget allocation since its creation has always been far more than the regular budget of
the UN as a whole (McDermott, 2000). To demonstrate this, according to McDermott (2000), the
budgeted expenditures of the UN in 1994 reached $8.3 billion, of which $1.3 billion went to regular
budget; $3.3 billion to peacekeeping operations; and the remaining $3.7 billion on operational
activities and programs supported by voluntary contributions. As noted in Article 17 of the charter, the
expenses of the organization shall be borne by member states and approved by the General Assembly
(UN charter). However, the charter does not point out the scale of contributions from member states.
The system evolved over years with formulas that determine contributions based on the capacity of
countries to pay. As a result of the special role played by the five permanent members of the Security
Council, the system allocates to them a very high percentage (McDermott, 2000). In December 2000,
the General Assembly reaffirmed this with resolution A/RES/55/235. (UNGA, 2015). The system
therefore categorizes member states into groups: A, B, C and D, for scaled of assessed contributions.

Congested Roadways
Background The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognizes on road vehicles
such as motorcycles, cars, trucks and buses as mobile sources of air pollution (How Mobile Sources,
2016). Additionally, the EPA has stated that individuals who live in proximity to major roads appear to
have an increased incidence and severity of health problems (How Mobile Sources, 2016). These
statements by the EPA formed the basis of my research regarding Philadelphia s most congested
roadways. In June of 2013, The Inquirer s Emily Babay published an article titled The 13 Worst
Commutes Around Philadelphia . Babay referenced a study published by TRIP, a national
transportation research group, to identify commutes in Philadelphia with the ... Show more content on

In the interest of time, only 4 of the 13 roadwyas listed in The Inquirer s article The 13 Worst
Commutes Around Philadelphia were studied during the course of this experiment. The 3 roadways
analyzed in this study were selected because the commutes with the most congestion were primarily
confined within the city limits of Philadelphia. Other routes listed in The Inquirer s article ran through
Philadelphia and branched out to surrounding counties. The roadways with high levels of congestion
included in this study were I 676 from I 95 to I 76, I 76 from I 676 to Belmont Avenue, and I 95 from
the Betsy Ross Bridge to I 676. After identifying 3 roadways with high levels of congestion, 8 living
spaces (4 apartments and 4 parks) less than half a mile from these routes were selected and defined as
red locations. Additionally, eight living spaces (4 apartments and 4 parks) directly located along
roadways with normal congestion were selected as controls and defined as green locations. For the
purpose of this experiment, roadways with normal levels of congestion were defined as any route that
was not included in TRIP s survey of the most congested roadways in Philadelphia. For the purpose of
this experiment, the living spaces studied along Philadelphia s most congested roadways were Sister
Cities Park, Granary Apartments, West Fairmount Park, Brentwood Apartments, East Fairmount Park,
Fairview Apartments, Liberty Lands Park, and Schmidt Commons. Sister

Analysis Of Ten Life-Boosting Lessons From The Epic Movie...
Ten Life Boosting Lessons from the Epic Movie Jaws Movie theaters were jam packed when Steven
Spielberg delivered Peter Benchley s 1974 chilling novel to the big screen. Not only did people avoid
the water that summer, but, most beaches across America would close if a shark was sighted. The
storyline was strong and the film was supported by a talented cast and crew who infused enough
humor and suspense to keep its audience teetering on the edge of their seats. This top grossing film
was a brilliant masterpiece for its time and soon became a cultural phenomenon, ranking #56 on the
tenth anniversary edition of the American Film Institute s 100 Greatest American Films of All Time
(Link 3). Furthermore, it s saturated with life lessons from both on and off the screen enticing viewers
to take a bite out of life!

That s right, we know the ones the people who like to tell us what we should or shouldn t do and are
happy to point out our flaws. They have a negative impact on our lives. Most people have a hard time
believing, sight unseen. Often, we find people praising those who have reached success, but we rarely
find those same people cheering them along the hard path that got them there. Martin Brody, the new
chief of police, played by veteran actor Roy Scheider, had a lot of obstacles to overcome. The town
leaders refused to believe that a great white shark was off the coast of their small island town. It wasn
t until proof presented itself that he had the towns support. Hooper, the marine scientist in the film,
had the right idea when he responded to the Mayor of Amity Island, I m not going to waste my time

In James Loewen’S Book, Lies My Teacher Told Me, He Talks
In James Loewen s book, Lies My Teacher Told Me, he talks about misconceptions in America school
textbooks. Are these actually misconceptions though? What is the author saying about American
history when details or whole event are untold? Lowen delves into these deep topics head on and gives
examples as he goes. This book is not only intended for those who have read an American history
book, but for those who have never heard the truth. Lowen wrote this book in order to uncover and
educate; furthermore, this is important because events never told are now brought to light. Using
detailed information concerning racism, governmental over watch, and the Vietnam War the author
argues that the American history textbook has covered up things in ... Show more content on

The American school systems has always made it seem as if slavery was widely frowned upon, but
that was not the case. Northerners felt that, ... black people were so hopelessly inferior that slavery
was a proper form of education for them... (Lowen 144). Huge shocker here, like we understood that
the north was jealous of the southern economy, but never thought they would agree with slavery.
Lowen uncovers what the textbooks missed, which makes the American society look as if we are just
terrible people. Growing up, the American population has always heard the phrase big brother is
watching but did we know to what extent they involved themselves and their attempts to hide things?
The government is always trying to make America seem as if we are just this great place that cares
about everyone; furthermore, this has been called the good guy interpretation . In recent textbooks, it
is claimed that the United States is the most generous nation and that we provide aid to anyone who
needs it, unfortunately this is false. There are other eastern countries that donate much larger amounts
to foreign aid. Why would these textbooks make a false claim? This is the U.S. trying to be something
it s not in order to draw appeal to the United States. The textbooks have given light to some sensitive
subjects such as plots to assassinate other world leaders, but these textbooks still find every motive
affable and fine. Has

Plastic Vs Pollution
Within the past several years, many people have had heated debates on the topic of what will make
this planet greener and more environmentally friendly. Pollution is one of the leading anthropogenic
originating from human activity causes, and it has been affecting the planet since the time of Ancient
Rome. When people discuss pollution many automatically think of plastic, whether that be in lands,
waterways, or the ocean, it has the ability to create interruptions in the environment. Because of this
controversial topic, it all leads to the long debated question, paper or plastic? People are asked this
question everyday, usually towards food shoppers, and it s the average person s job to make an
environmentally conscious decision upon which most are not educationally aware enough to do so.
Although many have decided that paper versus plastic war has a simple solution, there are a majority
of things that need to be taken into consideration from both sides in order to make the best educated
and environmentally sound choice. Many people have been arguing over the paper or plastic debate to
decide how and which resource is more cost efficient and does the least amount of damage. Overall,
there are many factors that must be put into thought when having to decide on which type of material
is considered better for the environment. Plastic has always been a controversial topic in every aspect
that it s apart of. When somebody goes grocery shopping, they have to make a choice at

Constitutional Rights Assignment 3 Essay
Constitutional Rights
Turrochelle McEachern
Introduction to Public Policy/ PAD 525
8/22/2014
Professor Dr. Timothy Smith
This report reviews and analyzes individual rights afforded by the constitution and their applicability
to the suit for wrongful termination in the case of Korb versus Raytheon. The specific constitutional
rights under review are the freedom of speech, freedom of information and challenges associated with
employment law. Lawrence Korb, a former Assistant Secretary of Defense and current employee of
Raytheon, a large equipment manufacturing company for the U.S. military was terminated after
making public statements criticizing defense spending and calling for a reduction of Navy s fleet.
Raytheon, a manufacturer of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That business decision was not an interference with any secured rights under the first amendment of
the constitution. Although Korb is free to express whatever opinions he wishes, his employer,
Raytheon does not have to pay him to do so.
There is a distinct contrast in the freedom of speech rights of an employee of a private corporation and
the freedom of speech rights of an employee of the government. The Massachusetts Supreme Court
opinion in the Korb case reminds us of the famous dictum of Oliver Wendell Holmes in an 1892
Massachusetts case that involved a policeman who was a member of a political committee and who
solicited money for that committee. The policeman was then discharged from the police department.
The ex policeman petitioned the court for restoration of his employment. The Massachusetts Supreme
Court ruled that the petitioner may have a constitutional right to talk politics, but he has no
constitutional right to be a policeman (Rbs2.com, 2000). There are few employments for hire in which
the employee does not agree to suspend his constitutional rights of free speech as well as of idleness
by the implied terms of his contract. The employee cannot complain, because he freely accepts the
employment on the terms which are offered to him.
Analyze and explain any challenges with freedom of information.
In the United States, freedom of the press and the broader freedom of speech are protected by the First

  • 2. Ethical Issues In A Hospital For this assignment, I spent time volunteering at Mercy Downtown, helping at the main information desk. While I was there, I assisted visitors in finding patients by looking up their room number, directed patients and visitors to the correct area of the hospital, and delivered flowers to rooms that had been dropped off. A paid employee also accompanied me while there, as volunteers are not allowed to actually look up patient information via the online portal, but I could call a different help desks within the hospital to ask other paid employees to look patients up for me if needed. The experience made me realize that there are so many little unthought of components to making a hospital as big as Mercy be efficient for everyone. The information ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have learned that no matter how many times people tell me not to judge a person by their appearance, I have grown up in a world where we still do it daily regardless of how hard we try not to. I go back and forth thinking about whether it s right or wrong to so openly give out patient room numbers but in the end, I think it s really only fair to do so. I think there could be changes, if possible phone up to a room and ask the patient if they know so and so, and if they want them to come to their room. Another option might be calling the nurses station or something on the floor, but I can only imagine how crazy that would drive employees who are trying to do their jobs. I can guess that most health care related organizations come across many situations and circumstances that could sway between ethical and unethical, and the decision about what to do is probably very difficult. It has been made very clear to me now, as to why hospitals have boards of directors with members from different backgrounds, so that there is really someone pulling from every angle to try and think about all the options to help make a sound ... • 3. Dna Is Not A Bodily Fluid DNA is not a bodily fluid, but is genetic information that can be identified through a bodily fluid. According to a scholarly journal article, in the Nineteenth century law enforcement agencies began to collect, organize, analyze and store collections of DNA samples for forensic purposes (big brother). DNA is extremely useful when nailing a suspect who it has been traced to. The biological evidence left at a crime scene comes along with a great story that has yet to be told through bodily fluids such as semen, blood or saliva found at the crime scene. These bodily fluids become key evidence to solving a case. There are numerous cases that have been solved based on the findings of DNA through multiple bodily fluids left at a crime scene. The case that I had chose was E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al. Petitioners v. Troy Brown, which was a case that dealt with semen taken from a rape kit. Although the subject of rape could a be a touchy subject for most people, I find cases that deal with such a horrendous act to be very interesting due to how the case is investigated and the measures it takes to find the evidence needed to solve the case. In the case of E.K MacDaniel, Warden et al. Petitioners v. Troy Brown, on January 29, 1994, at 1a.m. 9 year old, Jane Doe was brutally raped in her trailer bedroom. Residing near Jane Doe s trailer were two brothers, Troy and Travis. Across from Jane Doe s trailer resided Troy and Travis other brother, Trent along with his girlfriend, ... • 5. The Time Of Cholera By Gabriel Garcia Marquez Essay Is Gabriel García Márquez s legendary novel, Love in the Time of Cholera, truly a love story ? Unfortunately, García Márquez does not deal in the art of drug store romance novels, as the narrative of Love in the Time of Cholera cannot be reduced to its themes, or moral schema. (Wilson 280) His novel does not feed us a singular concept of true love in the same way such notions have been popularized in western media and literature it is far more complex and multifarious than such, which is part of the reason Love in the Time of Cholera maintains such high critical acclaim. It is not one, singular love story with black and white division between true and illusionary romance, but a twist on such. Love in the Time of Cholera is rather a story of many loves from Florentino and Fermina, to Fermina and Dr. Urbino, to Fermina and Hildebranda, to Florentino and his lovers, and so on; all the loves in this novel are genuine, and are nothing besides love. Of course, the author himself expresses that all the stories he has written are love stories , but in the case of the dysfunctional romances in Love in the Time of Cholera, do the principles of conventional true love hold true? There is plenty of evidence that it does not. Florentino Ariza, as pointed out by Fermina Daza, is in love with an illusion he is in love with the idea of love, rather than feeling genuine passion for Fermina as a person. Marriage, which by conventional standards should be a testament to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears both were face to face with animals, but in Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Goldilocks intruded the bears home and in Little Red Riding Hood, the wolf intruded Granny s home. While little Red Riding Hood and Goldilocks and the Three Bears are both fairytales that we grew up reading, there are many differences between the two which makes each one unique. • 8. Managing And Securing Unstructured Data With a massive growth in Internet, there has been an enormous increase in the amount of information generated and shared in social networking sites and across various industries. This has led to storing and access issues with regards to unstructured data. Firstly understanding what unstructured data is of primary importance before trying to handle it. In simple terms unstructured data can be understood as data that can t be stored in the form of rows and columns. It can be anything including email files, text documents, presentations, image and video files. Studies carried out by IDC and EMC forecasts that data will grow to 40 zettabyes (1 ZB = 1 billion TB). As of now more than 80% of all stored data in organizations is unstructured and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also backup and restore will take a lesser time Major disadvantage is that storing unstructured data will significantly increase the size of databases which will lead to more time for backup and restore of these databases and can cause performance issues with I/O subsystems The big disadvantage of this approach is that we have to create and maintain manual links between database and external file system files which can potentially go out of sync. Also since data is stored outside the system the backups are not consistent and unstructured data is not a part of the transaction. Hybrid Approach: To overcome the disadvantages of the methods discussed above, another method was the Hybrid Approach, which proposes Database engine to support a new data type filestream . Filestram help consolidates the profit of getting to BLOBs specifically from the NTFS document framework with the referential integrity and simple entry offered by the conventional social database engine. In SQL Server, BLOBs can be standard varbinary (max) information that stores the information in tables, or filestream varbinary (max) protests that store the information in the document framework. The major advantage of this approach is BLOB s are under database transactional consistency. By carrying out research with different datasets, it was clearly observed that hybrid and filestream data type approach is faster ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Development of AI in The AI Revolution is on by... When the earth began there was no life, it was a world of fire and oceans of lava, after thousands of year s life began in the ocean and soon came onto land. The land creatures developed into dinosaurs which ruled the world for thousands of years until a meteor wiped them out and a great ice age came. Once the ice age ended monkeys came and from them humans. We have been around for two thousand years and now we have created artificial intelligence which is becoming more and more integrated into our ever increasingly complicated world to make it simpler but have humans also created the next cycle of evolution? The AI Revolution is on by Steven Levy is about Artificial intelligence (AI). Levy writes about how the AI came around and how it affects our daily life. Levy explains impeccably how its developers strayed away from imitating human intelligence, and how it is integrated into our society. Levy has been reporting on digital technology for over twenty five years and his articles have been published in many distinguished magazines according to Writing and Reading Across the Curriculum. Levy s article begins by talking about how robots are used in ware houses that are linked to a main computer that tells the robots what they need to get. The ware house is organized in small groups of products spread out threw out it, this way the robots don t have to travel as far to get the product but to a human it looks like a random pile or stuff that isn t sorted at all. I would like to stress that the BHS program merits its own mapping for the guided pathway efforts. Nonetheless, we need to be prepared for any curve balls that the PSY Department will throw our way. • 12. Southwest Airline Case Analysis Southwest Airline s Strategies: Southwest Airline s successful strategy consists of three complementary qualities which are focus, divergence and compelling tagline. This short haul airline believes that by focusing on friendly service, speed and frequent point to point departures, its low pricing is able to compete against car transportation. While other competitors try to delight customers by investing in meals, airport lounges and seating selections, Southwest chooses to eliminate or reduces investments in these industry s competitive factors. As a result, Southwest s low prices are unbeatable making them the preferred airline in the industry. With a divergence element in Southwest s strategy, it is able to innovate and stand apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first source of competitive advantage is its low price tickets. After the terrorist attacks in Sept 2001 where most of the airlines were making losses due to a decline in air travelers, Southwest was still in a good shape due to its low cost model. Most of the travelers are willing to give up comfort such as in flight entertainment and fancy seats for a cheaper ticket. Secondly, cost advantage for Southwest plays a huge part in its competitive advantage. Only Boeing 737s are used and only coach seats are offered. This leads to the competency of Southwest s crews on 737 which helps to achieve faster turnaround time on the ground. Company cost of training, maintenance and inventory decreased significantly as well. The third competitive advantage is the cultural values that are instilled in Southwest s organization. Employees are placed first and are armed with tremendous information that assists in understanding the company s mission, customers and competition. Happy employees lead to satisfied customers through excellent customer services. Southwest Airline s Strategic Issues: While Southwest s excellent strategy should be applauded, there are a few strategic issues that can weaken its position in the face of various potential challenges. The first strategic issue lies in the challenge of preserving cultural values with Southwest s growth. This Southwest culture was designed to work in a small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Campton s title Comedy of Menace is a humorous play on words resulted from comedy of manners). This term describes a play which draws a realistic image while creating a connotation of intrigue and confusion, though the dramatists were employing a prestidigitation trick. Susan Hollis Merritt points out that in Comedy of Menace Wardle first applies this label to Pinter s work ... describ[ing] Pinter as one of several playwrights who have been tentatively lumped together as the non naturalists or abstractionists (Merritt 225). • 14. Billy s Top Trait By Billy Essay Throughout the semester, Billy took on a vocal yet non leadership role. The biggest drawback of Billy s participation was his frequent absences. Billy s top trait according to StrengthQuest is Competition. I think Billy strongly showed Competition in both positive and negative ways. In both BizCafe and other minor activities, competition acted as a motivator for Billy, being more engaged when more was on the line. This was a benefit in direct competition, like the dice stacking game early on in the semester. The competition with others helped Billy focus, brainstorming new ideas and strategies to defeat the other groups. However, this became a drawback when less was on the line. In more straightforward activities, like creating an advertisement for hiring employees, Billy would be less creative and less engaged when there was no competition. In non competitive scenarios, Billy would complete his part of the work and contribute, but he would be less driven and less creative. While displaying some traits of Initiator Contributor, I think Billy s main role in our group was Energizer. Having a gregarious personality, Billy naturally adds energy to group work. This was most evident in highly collaborative group work like weekly BizCafe decisions. When Billy was in class and engaged, he helped us stay on topic and try to find the best solution. He did this primarily by supporting the strategies of others. A recent example of this was our decision for week eleven in BizCafe. When ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Their style is often described as airy, and take a lot of influence from field recordings taken in rain forests, utilizing sound effects such as bird calls and elephant noises. One of the strongest aspects of How to Be a Human Being, released August 26, 2016, is the band s ability to create an atmosphere. The reason that I ve been so harsh on this despite the fact that I like it is because I think that Glass Animals rely too much on a formula that definitely works for two or three songs in a row, but gets boring and old and makes songs blur together if you try to build an entire album with this very simple formula. And even though this formula is very simple, it s also great fun to listen to and that s why I like the tracks that just go the extra mile to change it up. This level of control is clear from the moment you enter Disney: barriers, guardrails, and directions guide you to preordained locations, and Disney employees and rides reinforce those restrictions and guidances at numerous points throughout your visit (Shearing, p. 301 302). More significantly, in the panopticon design, inmates are always under surveillance. Further, inmates are aware they are always under surveillance even if they cannot see their supervisor so that they begin monitoring their own actions to conform with rules and restrictions (Dillon, p. 371). At Disney, once a guest breaks the rules or regulations, they quickly become aware that they are being surveilled. Park employees in unassuming costumes seemingly unrelated to security or rule enforcement are trained to enforce rules and hold guests accountable as soon as they act out of line, making clear to guests that they are always being surveilled even if they cannot see the supervisors ... The United States has its own favoritism of sports, and is captivated by football. Soccer, for the rest of the world, is an all time classic. It brings neighborhoods, family, and teams together to participate in a game that seems a little simple. The problem with soccer is that for some it s too basic, there aren t enough opportunities to score and the players seem to just run around for ninety minutes. What soccer lacks is the depth of strategy and the ability for players to specialize. Some plays can be attempted, but they are usually unsuccessful due to the position of the teams players and the lack of communication across the field. When players are halfway across the field, it s difficult to communicate a play and getting closer requires running which results in a loss of energy. Another reason why soccer isn t as interesting is the fact that scoring occurs infrequently and sometimes never. Nobody wants to sit in a stadium for three hours to watch a game where the final score will be one to zero; where s the enjoyment in that! The overall play of the game comes off as boring, watching athletes kick a ball up the field makes the game unbearable to watch. Arguably one of the worst features about soccer is the fact that athletes never change sides, resulting in some players striking upfront while the others hang back for defense. ... One might be curious about the reasons it is popular, or more importantly, how did it come about. Called the canon of Scriptures, or a list , it is the compilation of biblical books regarded by Christians as uniquely authoritative (Klein, Blomberg, Hubbard, Jr., 1993, p. 103). It includes 66 books encompassing thousands of years of history, written in multiple genres, and authored by many individuals. Inclusion into the canon required the necessity of scripture to meet specific criteria. Careful study dictated what became standard for believers (Klein, Blomberg, Hubbard, Jr., 1993). The House Of The Seven Gabless Analysis Salem State University professor, Aviva Chomsky, spoke at the House of the Seven Gables, on Thursday Sept. 14, about the 1933 Pequot Mills Strike, and its connection to modern labor issues facing the U.S. today. The House of the Seven Gables welcomed back Chomsky, as a guest speaker, for the final presentation of their ongoing speaker series, Life and Labor over Four Centuries at the House of the Seven Gables. Ana Nuncio, Settlement Programs Manager at the House of Seven Gables said, The Gables is proud to include professor Avi Chomsky in its roster of speakers this year, and that Chomsky is an engaging speaker with much to say on topics that are relevant to our Salem community, such as labor issues and immigrant rights. Chomsky s talk on the 1933 Pequot mills strike, now the site of Shetland Park, chronicled the issues faced by the mostly immigrant workers, of automation, productivity, unemployment, and wage disparity that still face the workers of today. The workers of the Pequot mills were Irish, French Canadian, and Polish immigrants that resided mostly in the Point Neighborhood of Salem. These immigrant workers were prompted to strike due to issues of unemployment and forced increased productivity caused by new innovations in loom technology. Chomsky described how, One mill worker could now run 1,000 looms instead of just one, leaving 999 mill workers unemployed. With communist party influence, and concern for the working class, the mill workers struck in 1933. This strike influenced all of Salem as almost half of all residents were employed by the Pequot mills. The mill workers met to discuss the strike at the Saltonstall school, and marched down Lafayette Street in protest of the unfair labor conditions and wages. Chomsky highlighted the solidary of the mill workers by showing a document created by the strikers that said, If we lose this strike, all textile workers will be effected. Chomsky pointed out that even then people were thinking about the global influence of workers rights. The Pequot mills strike, were finally resolved when President Roosevelt sent mediators to reach a consensus between the striking workers, and the employers. When you look at it from that perspective it seems like bows are such a simple piece of equipment. For example, the string moving at such a high rate of speed to launch the arrow, then comes to a complete stop in just a fraction of a second with very minimal vibration. How does that not tear something up? There are several key parts to know that is on a compound bow: cam, limbs, string, and riser. A cam is what makes the difference between a plain recurve and a compound bow. A cam is a particular object at the top and bottom of a bow that rotates as you pull the string of the bow back. Now why are cams such a big advancement to that of a recurve? Cams allow bows to shoot higher feet per second and allow the arrow to have more kinetic energy, thus make the arrow travel faster and further, and penetrate deeper into the object you are shooting. With the invention of cams, came the very helpful let off. Unlike recurves, compounds have specifically shaped cams to allow for let off. This means, when you are drawing back your bow it is not a constant 60 to 70 pound pull back the whole time, it gives you a break. Their exclusion from the industrializing society, and their lagging in developments set them back from the rest of the country. Through their hardships they found a way to come together and form a political movement that would represent their rights and needs and give them a voice in the political decision making; it was called the Populist movement. However, the formation of this movement didn t happen over night; it was a complicated process, but in the end it paid off for the small farmers of America. The farmers wanted restrictions on railroads, buffer from market, and increase in money supply and credit. To help achieve these desired changes, the Granges and Alliances were created. The Granges and Alliances were organizations formed to help bring the farmers together, and help them to make cooperatives so as to make a profit. These two systems were a large step in the emergence of the Populist movement. The Granges were first started by Oliver H. Kelley, an Agriculture Department official. The Grange came first and was created as a social organization for farmers. The Grange system wanted to bring farmers together to learn new scientific agricultural techniques, create a feeling of community between farmers, and organize cooperatives. The Granges were temporarily successful, but eventually failed because of inexperience and opposition of the middlemen. The decline of the Grange movement made way for the Farmers Alliances. The Alliance started in Texas in 1877 and welcomed men and women alike. They, like the Granges, formed cooperatives so as to free the farmers from the dependence on the large corporations. The Alliances spread quickly, but still had some of the same problems the Granges had like inexperience, and the middlemen getting in the way. These frustrations helped push the movement ... • 41. Willy Loman Is To Blame In this essay I will be writing about how much Willy Loman is to blame and is not to blame for his own actions. Willy Loman is a sixty three year old man who is depicted to be on the verge of a breakdown. Loman is a very delusional character who appears to live predominantly in the past, which is made clear from his tone and Miller s stage directions which demonstrate the use of expressionism. At the heart of everything Willy does, lay his children: Biff and Happy. All the same, every dream Willy ever has had has been rooted by the idea of the American Dream the idea of having the perfect and idealistic life where anyone can become successful as long as they are well liked. This idea is carried throughout the play and becomes personified ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The son a pioneer inventor and the slave of the industrialised world, Willy Loman exemplifies the victim of a changing capitalistic society. Arthur Miller eludes to this even in the character s name Loman, which pronounced correctly reveals the words Low man. Death of a Salesman engages the audiences conflicting attitudes toward this changing society: fear of the new and unfamiliar and to accommodate technology to cultural mythologies by subordinating it personally. This is evident in Howard s office, who is Willy s boss. In this scene Willy is going to ask to work in New York but instead of getting his office job, he is fired. Willy has now lost everything: his years of service, his pride and his salary because he is no longer as productive as he once was. This scene not only marks a tragic point in Willy s life it also gives proof of the changes that occur in a capitalist system. Willy s termination goes along with the out with the old and in with the new theory of such a system. Again, this leaves us thinking that as a tragic protagonist, Willy Loman is not culpable for his own actions; In fact, society is. If capitalist views had not become the culture for 1940 America then perhaps Willy would not be suffering like he is. He became a salesman because he was told and believed that if he was a salesman, who was well liked and therefore successful, then he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Budget And Financial Issues Of The United States BUDGET AND FINANCIAL ISSUES At its formation, the UN had inherited financial problems from its predecessor the League of Nations (McDermott, 2000). Seventy years down the lane, financial problems have been at the core of the UN activities in peacekeeping missions. Thus, the issue of budgetary crisis with regards to financing old and new peacekeeping operations continue to persist. According to McDermott (2000), peacekeeping have been both the making and near breaking of the organization. On one hand, peacekeeping expansion from traditional peacekeeping to peacekeeping and now peacebuilding have contributed to the exponential growth of the organization. On the other hand, the spread out of peacekeeping increases cost and have overly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As peacekeeping missions are organized on adhoc basis, each peacekeeping mission budget is authorized separately, and member states are assessed per mission. It is interesting to point out that the peacekeeping budget allocation since its creation has always been far more than the regular budget of the UN as a whole (McDermott, 2000). To demonstrate this, according to McDermott (2000), the budgeted expenditures of the UN in 1994 reached $8.3 billion, of which $1.3 billion went to regular budget; $3.3 billion to peacekeeping operations; and the remaining $3.7 billion on operational activities and programs supported by voluntary contributions. As noted in Article 17 of the charter, the expenses of the organization shall be borne by member states and approved by the General Assembly (UN charter). However, the charter does not point out the scale of contributions from member states. The system evolved over years with formulas that determine contributions based on the capacity of countries to pay. As a result of the special role played by the five permanent members of the Security Council, the system allocates to them a very high percentage (McDermott, 2000). In December 2000, the General Assembly reaffirmed this with resolution A/RES/55/235. (UNGA, 2015). The system therefore categorizes member states into groups: A, B, C and D, for scaled of assessed contributions. Category A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pollution is one of the leading anthropogenic originating from human activity causes, and it has been affecting the planet since the time of Ancient Rome. When people discuss pollution many automatically think of plastic, whether that be in lands, waterways, or the ocean, it has the ability to create interruptions in the environment. Because of this controversial topic, it all leads to the long debated question, paper or plastic? People are asked this question everyday, usually towards food shoppers, and it s the average person s job to make an environmentally conscious decision upon which most are not educationally aware enough to do so. Although many have decided that paper versus plastic war has a simple solution, there are a majority of things that need to be taken into consideration from both sides in order to make the best educated and environmentally sound choice. Although Korb is free to express whatever opinions he wishes, his employer, Raytheon does not have to pay him to do so. There is a distinct contrast in the freedom of speech rights of an employee of a private corporation and the freedom of speech rights of an employee of the government. The Massachusetts Supreme Court opinion in the Korb case reminds us of the famous dictum of Oliver Wendell Holmes in an 1892 Massachusetts case that involved a policeman who was a member of a political committee and who solicited money for that committee. The policeman was then discharged from the police department. The ex policeman petitioned the court for restoration of his employment. The Massachusetts Supreme Court ruled that the petitioner may have a constitutional right to talk politics, but he has no constitutional right to be a policeman (Rbs2.com, 2000).
