Dramatic Irony In The Cask Of Amontillado
In the Cask of Amontillado a short story by Edgar Allen Poe the protagonist of the story,
Montresor, is a very clever man. For instance, the story is told from Montresor s point of view and
it begins with Montresor talking about how he s going to get revenge on his friend, Fortunato. The
thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when ventured upon insult, I vowed
revenge...I continued, as my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now
was at the thought of his immolation. Here Poe uses dramatic irony to show the readers that
Montresor is devising a plan to get revenge on Fortunato, and Fortunato isn t aware of what
Montresor is planning. Montresor then coincidentally sees Fortunato at Carnival.... Show more

Incidentally, most of the story is set in the catacombs (which symbolizes death) of the Montresors.
I drink, he said, to the buried that repose around us. And I to your long life. He again took my
arm, and we proceeded. These vaults, he said, are extensive. The Montresors, I replied, were a
great and numerous family. I forget your code of arms. A huge human foot d or, in a field azure;
the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel. And the motto? Nemo me
impune lacessit. The author uses more irony when Montresor toasts to Fortunato s long life but the
readers know Montresor is going to get revenge on Fortunato, and Montresor does not really mean
what he s saying. Then they discuss the Montresor code of arms and the motto. The motto means
Nobody provokes me with impunity. This tells the readers why Montresor has to get his revenge. In
fact, Montresor was planning on redressing

Chopped Research Paper
Food network project
The first cooking show I watched was Chopped. Chopped is a competition show where
contestants are given a diverse array of ingredients that are unusual and don t necessarily go well
together. Some of the strange ingredients the contestants were given included pink marshmallow
peeps, a chocolate bunny, and also a lamb leg. The idea is to create a dish using all the ingredients
you are given to make a dish. There are three rounds, appetizer, entrГ©e, and dessert. Each round
one contestant is eliminated or chopped from the competition until two contestants are left standing
in the dessert round. The show is hosted by a man, Ted Allen and there were three judges, this
episode there was a male and two females. The contestants were equally distributed in respect to
gender, two male, two female, also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This show began with a number of very brightly colored shots of different fruits and vegetables
as well as a few entrees in the mix. The music that played was very upbeat and in the slides she
was in she was enjoying herself with friends. On this episode she was preparing lunch for a
friend in exchange for him redesigning her garden. On the menu was Pea soup, roasted red
pepper and gat cheese sandwiches, and for dessert she prepared a carrot and pineapple cake. I
noticed throughout the episode that her instructions for the audience were easy and detailed
enough to follow along with. I think this style went along with the personality she portrayed
which was a happy and laid back kind of person. The presentation of her meal was on all white
dishes, the dishes matched the dГ©cor of her kitchen. She was very adamant on using fresh herbs
from her garden which was a feature that episode. As far as gender norms go I think she followed
the stereotype expected of the woman very closely in terms of cooking style, utensils, and menu
items. A light soup and fresh sandwich with a dense cake for

Identity, Work and Labor Essays
What are the differences between work and labor? There are many differences between work
and labor. At the same time, it is complex to point out these differences because they are subtle.
To illustrate one difference between work and labor, here is an example from a building site. The
manager or contractor organizes the structure of the tasks that need to be executed. The laborers
are those who are doing the heavy work, laying bricks, digging the holes and carrying the lumber.
The manager, foreman and the laborers, however, are all working at the site. It is only those doing
the heavy work that would be considered to be laboring.
Some people work very hard and they really enjoy their work, while others find work to be a chore,

vacations or to explore new things in their life. It was really hard for me to see how they became
slaves to their work and didn t receive extra payment for the extra time they worked for years and
years. Some of these people retired and were so disrupted in their lives that they didn t know what
to do. Shortly after they retired they became sick and died. The work gave meaning to their life.
The author, in the Ant and Grasshopper , Aesop (86), the author describes that the ant works very
hard during summer to store food for the winter. She labors through the task while the grasshopper
sang and didn t care about the winter. Life is so much more intricate than this; people are a lot
more complex than insects and it is not always easy to accomplish those tasks that the workers
or the boss had impose on their selves to accomplish a specific task or project. Their level of
constant worry and pressure is intensified when they have a dead line to finish a task.
Nevertheless in the corporate world people have to follow certain schedule. For example the
employees at some large companies need to sign in and out when they arrive at work and

Introduction
Washington Irving is the author of the tale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, that was written in the
nineteenth century (Baym 25). Irving was born in New York City on April 3rd, 1783 and was the
last of eleven children. At home, Irving read a wide range of English literature and delighted in

s book The Sketch Book. It s ghostly tale that talks about a mysterious Headless Horseman that is
said to be a Hessian trooper who lost his head in battle. It is said that every night, the Headless
Horseman roams the countryside in search of his head. There is an unlikely hero in this tale named
Ichabod Crane, but to the people of Sleepy Hollow the real hero is Brom Bones.

Is Technology A Servant Or Master Essay
Technology: Servant or Master?
Technology can be used as a helpful tool, but when it controls someone s life it can have many
negative effects. Several scientists have conducted research proving technology can hurt someone
mentally and emotionally when used as a safety blanket instead of a helping hand. The effects
include a lack of motivation, time management, concentration, and problem solving skills. Other
effects observed are changes in emotions and relationships.
As technology has continued to grow and evolve, it has also changed how society functions and
interacts. In Christian Lange s Nobel Peace Prize speech, he says Technology is a useful servant but
a dangerous master. When technology is used only to aid, it is a servant. It becomes the master...

Battle Of San Juan Hill Essay
The Battle of San Juan Hill July 1, 1898 was one of the bloodiest battles of The Spanish
American War. The battle of San Juan Hill also known as San Juan Heights was of strategic
importance because it permitted the Americans to place guns above the harbor at Santiago. The
gun positions overlooking the harbor prevented the Spanish Navy from escaping which
ultimately led to their land forces surrendering shortly after the loss of San Juan Hill. (United
States History) U.S. General William Shafter ordered the attack on El Caney and San Juan Hill.
General Shafter had hoped to take El Caney prior to beginning the push for San Juan Hill but the
Spanish defenders proved themselves to be tenacious and managed to hold off a great number of
American attackers. The steadfast defense of the Spanish prevented the Americans from securing
El Caney until late in the afternoon. Spanish gunfire managed to take out hundreds of Americans
but failed stop an estimated 8,000 troops from continuing on towards San Juan Hill. Troops were
then split into two flanks at the base of the heights in order to take San Juan Hill and Kettle Hill
with the order from Lieutenant John Miley that the heights must be taken at all hazards .
(History.com, 2010) What took place after the units were given the order to begin the assault
depends on which participant told the story. The lesser publicized accounts bring into question
whether Teddy Roosevelt actually led the charge up San Juan Hill

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today s...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell
phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur
filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the
success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technologyis not just shaping culture; modern film and
internet culture is shaping the development of today s society.
Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell
phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social
media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a
significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind
sharing a homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share
their videos to the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect
instrument for the look at me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its
sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This quote exhibits an example of how technology used for
amateur filmmaking is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive to be
acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is
affecting the sense of self of one who searches for validation while also creating a form of
narcissism, both

Altitude Safety Essay
Changes in altitude have a profound effect on the human body. The body attempts to maintain a
state of homeostasis or balance to ensure the optimal operating environment for its complex
chemical systems. Any change from this homeostasis is a change away from the optimal operating
environment. The body attempts to correct this imbalance. One such imbalance is the effect of
increasing altitudeon the body s ability to provide adequate oxygen to be utilized in cellular
respiration. With an increase in elevation, a typical occurrence when climbing mountains, the body
is forced to respond in various waysto the changes in external environment. Foremost of these
changes is diminished ability to obtain oxygen from the atmosphere. If the... Show more content on

At the base of the pharynx are two openings. One, the esophagus, leads to the digestive system
while the other, the glottis, leads to the lungs. The epiglottis covers the glottis when swallowing
so that food does not enter the lungs. When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the
lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe
branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch
many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It
is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped
like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood
and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of
the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking,
1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses.
The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell.
The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected
related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli.
GAS TRANSFER To understand gas transfer it is important to first understand something about the
behavior of gases. Each gas in our atmosphere exerts its

Narrative Voice In The Turn Of The Screw By Henry James
A simple fact of literature is that a story simply cannot be told without the presence of a nar rator.
This textual voice literally narrates the story and therefore wields the power to influ ence it in
many ways. Sometimes, it is not what the narrator reveals that is important, but what is left out.
Writers can use the different aspects of narration to make their point more efficiently and it is
therefore an obvious focus point when it comes to interpreting a text. Henry James The Turn of the
Screw has for several reasons been in literary critics spotlight and this essay focuses on the changes
in narrativevoice taking place in the introduction along with the first three chapters of the story with

We get no comments from the original narrative voice whatsoever and the story being told is left
solely to the reader to interpret since the whole novella ends inside the frame of the creepy story
being told. This leaves many questions unanswered and is unor dinary for any novella at the very
least. The unsettling events of the tale, however, ask the obvious question of whether the reader can
truly trust the woman s letters as factual. Perhaps, she was merely imagining everything. The
possibility of an unstable mind cannot be left out and this damages her credibility as a narrator. In
addition, since the transcript of the story has travelled through several hands, it can have been
altered. This seems unlikely, though, since the transcript surely would have been affected by
Douglas knowledge of both prior and sub sequent events that would have given the story an almost
omniscient narrator which it far from has. It faithfully remains restricted to the governess point of
view. She, however, tells the events as she recalls them, not as they occur, and even though the
original first person narrator seems to know the manuscript s recipient, we actually do not know
whether we can trust him either. Really, the novella as a whole taunts the reader with uncertainness
in both the story s events but also truly through its

Symptoms And Symptoms Of Panic Disorder
A mental illness is the same as a physical illness or disease; it follows a certain pattern, consists of
a multitude of symptoms and has the potential to be treated. The only difference is that a mental
illness affects the brain and the mind, and in today s society, has negative connotations associated
with it. Mental illness is just as biological as any physical disease, and can be just as serious and
devastating to the individual. One mental illness, in particular, is believed to be very common and
easily reversible: panic disorder. This illness is classified under the DSM 5 as an anxiety disorder,
and it is separate from panic attacks, which by themselves are not a disorder (American
Psychiatric Association, 2013). Panic attacks, are a symptom of panic disorder, and can be
experienced by anyone, both those with and without the disorder. Panic disorder is a mental
disease characterized by specific criteria, risk factors and etiologies particular to itself. Panic
disorder is defined as, recurrent unexpected panic attacks (American Psychiatric Association, 2013,
p. 208). A panic attackis a heightened sense of fear or discomfort that swells and reaches a climax;
the entire event last around 10 minutes (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). An unexpected
panic attack means that there is no trigger that sets off the attack, they occurs seemingly random
(American Psychiatric Association, 2013). During these attacks, in order for it to be considered

Definition of Customer Service
The definition of customer service varies across organizations. Suppliers and their customers can
view the concept of customer service quite differently. In a broad sense, customer service is the
measure of how well logistics systems is performing providing time and place utility for a product

* Definition of Customer Service
Customer service can be defined as: a process which takes place between the buyer, seller and
third party. The process results in a value added to the product or service exchanged. This value
added in the exchange process might be short term as in a single transaction or longer term as in
a contractual relationship. The value added is also shared, in that each of the parties to the

History Of Colonial Society During The Revolutionary War
Joseph lucero AP US History Practice DBQ Essay Every aspect of colonial society was changed
in response to the revolutionary war. Not everything was radically new or even better, necessarily,
but it was at least slightly changed. Even though slaves, women, and loyalists did not experience a
ground shaking change to their roles in society, the sudden societal shift created unrest, which their
predecessors before the war would not have anticipated despite a lack of fundamental changes.
Economically, there were major pushes for self sufficiency in response to the radically changing
markets. Although the economy was in flux, there were still similar patterns of abuse of economic
power that caused some economic and political changes to be... Show more content on

Even though people did not want to radically change their society from a total abolishment of
slavery, the immorality of slavery was not so easily dismissed anymore; Thomas Jefferson
spoke about the feeling of the majority of americans at this time period as, holding a wolf by the
ears , meaning that it was not a pleasant thing to hold on to but letting it go would most certainly
not be the most advisable course of action. However in new territories, since there was no
slavery there to begin with, there would be no wolf to let go of; as a result in a 1787 ordinance it
was written that: There shall be neither slavery nor involuntary servitude in the said territory
further proving the uncomfortable notion of maintaining slavery.(Doc H) Even despite these
proclamations of slavery s disgusting hypocrisy the south would maintain slavery firmly until the
civil war, and being that that is where the majority of slaves resided, it did little to nothing to
affect them. While the after effects of the revolutionary war were negligible in regards to the actual
societal roles of many slaves, the mindset created would lead to more powerful changes throughout
the course of history.Women played a significant role in the revolutionary war, many women
actually fought in the war or were much more independent due to the men leaving to fight in it; as

Counterculture In 1960s
In the 1960s a new group of young, long haired and wild people began to form in San Francisco,
California and soon spread throughout the rest of the country and then developed around the world.
Its origins may be traced to European social movement in the 19th and early 20th century such as
Bohemians, and the influence of Eastern religion and spirituality. From around 1967, its
fundamental ethos including harmony with nature, communal living, artistic experimentation
particularly in music, and the widespread use of recreational drugs spread around the world during

In the meantime at San Francisco State College, students in the Third World Liberation Front
(TWLF), a coalition of African American, Latino, and Asian American student groups, began
demanding reforms that addressed the concerns of students of color and the surrounding
community. After more than a year of negotiating with the school and organizing students, they

When it was finally settled in March 1969, many of the students demands were met, including the

On November 28, 1968, Hayakawa was named acting president of San Francisco State College by

What Is The Role Of Women In The 1800 s
There were not many jobs women could have in britain during the early and mid 1800 s.
However, late in the decade women started to try to get jobs and break their stereotype as the
weaker gender. They had to slowly change the social mores around women by slowly so that
men would not try keep women from advancing. Thomas Hardy brought this into consideration
when he wrote Far from the madding Crowd. Women In the late 1800 s Women began to
challenge some of the social mores that bound them to society while keeping others ridged
Bathsheba is a representation of this movement. In Great Britain there women were expected to
behave a certain way. They were not supposed to do most jobs that are done on a farm. Women
could not work in the fields. It was very uncommon for women to work as a bailiff and hire or
fire farm hands. Many people believed that women could not manage a farm and not be trusted to
supervise workers. Women were not supposed to be independent because men believed they were
too fragile to survive in the world of men. Women also had to make sure that they always had a
companion when they traveled. They also had to make sure that when they went to public events

Conrad in Under Western Eyes outlines the Russian Revolution. However, readers can further their
knowledge on the topics in the book. During the 19th century, Russia was ruled by autocrats, or
czars, who ruled with absolute power. Their individual philosophies affected the history and
culture of the vast empire (Merri et al.). The first ruler of Russia at this time was Alexander I. He
came to power in 1801 during the Napoleonic Wars, between France and shifting alliances of
other European powers ( Alexander I ). However, he died and Decembrist revolts followed as
people argued of his successor (Merri et al.). His brother, Czar Nicholas, then will come into
power. However, the Russians revolt against him because of harsh treatment and his constant
want for more power. This forms a revolutionary movement. He tried to conserve his power by
restricting education so that revolutionary ideas would not spread (Merri et al.). These are
events for the story behind Under Western Eyes. The book demonstrates not just the revolution,
but regular Russian who rely on the revolutionaries to achieve a complete change in the
government and form a new outlook on life (Russian Revolution of 1917). There are starving
young men in Russia who believe in you (Peter Ivanovitch, a revolutionist) so much that it seems
the only thing that keeps them alive is their misery (Conrad 217). Truly there are millions of
people who would envy the life of dogs in this country. It is horror and a shame to confess this
even between ourselves. One must believe for very pity. This can t go on. No! It Can t go on...
(Conrad 235). Theses statement support how Russian people felt during this period and helps
illustrate emotions upon readers. In addition to how typical Russians feel, these statements also
show reasons behind the ways Revolutionaries felt. No one is born an active revolutionist. The

The Construction Of Red Black Trees
1 Introduction
In recent years, much research has been devoted to the construction of red black trees; nevertheless,
few have refined the confusing unification of Internet QoS and active networks [3,13,23,18,8]. The
impact on random robotics of this has been adamantly opposed. An essential problem in hardware
and architecture is the synthesis of checksums. To what extent can hash tables be developed to
address this question?
Statisticians never enable the Turing machine in the place of robots. Such a hypothesis is mostly a
confirmed aim but fell in line with our expectations. Indeed, Web services [22] and public private
key pairs have a long history of interacting in this manner. Indeed, operating systems [30] and RAID
have a long history of interacting in this manner [35,22,19,33]. The basic tenet of this method is the
visualization of hierarchical databases.
Another essential riddle in this area is the emulation of cache coherence. It should be noted that
LactylMuset locates local area networks. However, large scale configurations might not be the
panacea that systems engineers expected. Even though similar approaches improve the memory
bus, we achieve this goal without harnessing the compelling unification of operating systems and
context free grammar.
LactylMuset, our new heuristic for perfect archetypes, is the solution to all of these grand
challenges. The disadvantage of this type of method, however, is that the foremost large scale

Benefits Of Sociological Imagination

world we live in, and finally the relation sociological imagination play in suicide and eating

Durkheim went into detail about three suicide types: anomic, altruistic, and egotistic. Anomic
suicide makes individuals feel lost or alone in society. For example teen suicide, the teen cannot

by social force. For example political or social pressure makes and individual feel disconnected
with society or themselves. Egotistic suicide is a total detachment from society. He argues that
suicide is a social factor. The social factors he argues are social surroundings and whether the
individual is integrated in social structure. He does state as well does Mills that men have a higher
rate of suicide than woman do. Mills believed that men were unable to make the connection

Tobias Wolff s short story, The Rich Brother , is a parallel story to the biblical fable of Able and

and Able are children of Adam and Eve, where Cain is the eldest and Able the younger of the
two. In the biblical story Cain and Able end up giving gifts (sacrifices) to appease to their God.
This in turn, creates tension between the two because Able s sacrifice of the lamb is much

Wolff portrays Peter and Donald as rivals throughout The Rich Brother as were Cain and Able
were in the Bible. Cain and Abel s rival rivalry came to when god had favored Abel s gift of the
lamb. With favor came God s overwhelming love which Cain had exclusively desired. Peter,
much like Cain, came to a bitter rivalry with his brother Donald in that Peter wanted all the love
that him mother gave that he felt Donald was eating up. For example, when Donald had his
surgery his mother protested him even to climb trees and so on because she loved and cared for
her son this enraged his brother Pete because he didn t receive as much attention as his little
brother did. Pete later states his jealousy when he replies to Donald s accusation of trying to kill
him and says mom was in a state every time you burped (812). While it be Pete or Cain their
bitterness towards their brothers are only fueled by their own jealousies.
Mostly, throughout The Rich Brother Peter is viewed as the most selfish individual. Most
important, was that he wanted his mothers love so badly that he attempted to kill his own
brother (812), which is a reference to Cain killing his brother and leaving him in the fields.
Donald says to Pete You re basically a very frightened individual. Very threatened (811) this in turn
shows that how jealous Pete was and how he was willing to kill simply over jealousy. Moreover,
Pete could not stand the fact that he

Since I had worked on my project for quite a long time, I became desensitized to my photographs. I

One in particular was an older woman, who after glancing at my images, made a sour face and

Why Is Mulch Important To You Essay
If there s one singular thing you can do for their garden or landscape one simple action you can
take that could potentially bring your plants back to life and prevent current and future disasters, it
s mulching. And I m not necessarily talking about pre colored cypress bark that you see
surrounding lonely barberries in a Target parking lot. I m talking about real mulching with real,
workable materials that your plants will eventually be able to benefit from. Granted, painted chunks
of wood still have the potential to break down into the soileventually, but the process is slow and
ugly and isn t meant to serve the purposes that mulchshould be serving. So, what kinds of mulches
are best and why is mulch so good for your garden?
If you ve ever taken a hike through an undisturbed forest, or stopped to really look at what s
going on under that messy tree of yours in the fall, you ll get a better understanding of what
mulch is and what it s meant to do. Look on the ground. What do you see? Depending on the
time of year, you ll see something different. Most notably, in the fall, you ll see a colorful blanket
of spent leaves, covering everything they land on. If they do this on your lawn, you may see a
problem. In the forest, those leaves are far from a problem. They re a necessary and welcome part
of the ecosystem.
Mother Nature doesn t do anything by accident. Those fallen leaves are full of all the necessary
nutrients that the plants and animals in the soil on the forest floor need. They also provide
protection from the winter weather, offering a barrier between the soil and the freezing
temperatures above. During the growing season, the mulch keeps the soil on the forest floor
evenly moist and cool, creating a suitable environment for plants and animals to thrive and
flourish. The size and thickness of the leaf cover is easily and quickly broken down by the
organisms living in the soil, which then improves the soil and makes the nutrients from those
leaves available to the plants again, starting the cycle over.
In a controlled environment such as a garden or landscape with an artificial array of plant materials,
attempting to let everything naturally mulch itself is impossible. That job belongs to the

The Genetic Disorder of Down Syndrome
Noo Why my baby, this mother has just been given the news that her child has been diagnosed
with Down Syndrome. Her child was one of many who will have trouble reading out loud or to
even communicate. Who will grow up with not knowing if today will be a good day or not. Down
Syndrome is just one case of genetic disorder. There are so many all over in the world and many
doctors still don t even know what to call them. Some don t even know they have a diseasein them
till its too late, or other know all there lives and some learn to live with the disease and others live
every day in fear of getting even more sick and hurt.
Genetic disorders are very common some more than others. Its all has to do with our 46
chromosomes. Genetic disorders can occur to anyone. Many people believe genetic disorders only
happen to those who have family cases with genetic disorders but, it s not something you can truly
control. When a cell is going through Meiosis the outcome should be that every gametes should
have 23 chromosomes which carry your genetic code. At the beginning of Meiosis each
homologous chromosomes pairs up with another homologous chromosome and then they start
exchanging genetic code. This process is called Crossing Over. During this process there is a small
chance that the exchange didn t happen properly and not all the genetic code was transfer from one
another. Which can later result in your genetic code failure.
Another Cause of a genetic disorder is if there aren t

Emergent Literacy Stages
There are six major stages of reading development; emergent literacy (six months old to six years
old), initial reading and decoding (six years old to seven years old), confirmation and fluency
(seven years old to eight years old), reading for learning the new (nine years old to thirteen years
old), multiple viewpoints (fifteen years old to seventeen years old), and construction and
reconstruction (eighteen years old and up) (Evans, 2014). Although all children develop at deferent
paces, most of children s development occurs in the first five to eight years of their life. In these
beginning years, they go through the emergent literacy stage, initial readingand decoding stage, and
the confirmation and fluency stage.
The emergent literacy stage takes place when the child is around six months old until about six
years old. In this stage, children are in the beginning process of becoming literate. They are
developing skills for reading and writing before they know how to read and write correctly. To do
this, children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the second stage of literacy and reading comprehension. In this stage, children are beginning
to read simple texts that contain first grade level high frequency words, such as the, and, but, it, big,
small, yes, no, and many more. Throughout this stage, the child is learning relationships between
letters and the sounds they make and printed words and their spoken words. The child is
building skills to read and sound out simple and regular one to two syllable words. Children in
this stage will move from scribbling letters to a more controlled form of scribbling and will be
able to write words out by sounding out words and stringing letters together. By the end of this
stage, the child should be able to recognize 2,000 to 4,000 words on average, but will only be able
to read approximately less than six hundred words (Stages of Literacy

Physical Environment In Africa
It is easy to forget about the trials and tribulations of the physical world because we are constantly
being distracted by the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. Between rising skyscrapers, expanding
cities, and growing populations many forget about the ground they walk on and how their actions
impact the long term use of the land we capitalize on every day. In Africa, the physical environment
has a huge impact on what plants and vegetation grow throughout the continent, affecting how its
inhabitants live their daily lives. It is through Africa s physical environment and climatevariability
that determines the continent s diverse vegetation species and drives local economies.
Africa s Physical Environment
Africa s physical environment is a vast piece of land due to several factors. A large reason as to
why the continent is so large is because of the number of cratons that exist throughout the continent,
which contain areas that are composed of ancient crystalline basement rock (Child, Lesson 2.1,
2017). Due to its long dated history, Africa has a very complex geological makeup. Another
contributor to this vast continent s physical environment is the impact of tectonic plates. Because
the tectonic plate Africa sits on is relatively stationary and there has been no collision of
neighboring plates, mountain chains have not formed. However, a geographical element that is
well known due to the impact of continental plates is the formation of the Great Rift Valley
(McKenna).

My Childhood Experience
Everybody has grown up differently. Everybody has different stories, different memories, and
different hardships that have shaped who they are as a person. When most people think of their
childhood they think of family night board games. They think of running off to the park with their
best friends, laughing on swingsets and hopping scotch until they were out of breath. They have
memories of vacations, funny stories at familygatherings, or that one time they fell of their bike
and their dad carried them home and put on a bandaid and made all the pain go away.
When I think of my childhood, I think of two defining events fairly early on that will stick with
me forever. I think of the first time I found out we were finally going to Chuck E. ... Show more

Telling us how much he loved us and that he was just gonna spend the night at his parents house
for a while until our mom calmed down. My mom, Paxtin and I took an unexpected trip to Idaho
the next day to visit family . When we came home, all of my dad s stuff was gone.
In an instant, my life had changed. I have no memory of my mom and dad being together and being
happy. Just the terrible things that led up to their divorce. The fact that when I thought back to my
childhood and all I could remember were the sad and depressing moments made me turning to
photography. As soon as I got my 3rd generation iPod touch for Christmas in 2012, I was
obsessed with taking pictures. I would take pictures of anything that i found beauty in. I didn t
care that it wasn t the best quality or I didn t know the right angles. I knew I would learn and
upgrade and that in the meantime, I would document everything on my shitty iPod camera in
hopes to make up for all the lost memories. I would grow to use photography as a tool to cope with
a dreadful, fleeting childhood, emotionally hard times I went through, and my biggest fears in life.
In no way am I trying to say I had the worst childhood I possibly could ve had. Mixed with all the
bad was some good. Like flattening out cardboard boxes and sliding down a steep, dry, grass hill
because we wanted to go sledding in the middle of July. Or going on

decrease, but most likely, at a slower rate as more sandals are produced. This data can help the

Mr. Roberts
The English bill of rights and the declaration rights of man and citizen are two of the most
influential documents ever written between 1600 1800; those documents greatly affect the rights
and freedom that everyone was born with today, it also greatly affects the US constitution about
how they govern their country how they think about government. The two documents have many
similarities and differences; those two documents were both created because of a similar reason.

battle that they called it the glorious revolution, it was called glorious because in which religious
and political problems were solved without bloodshed. February 2nd 1689 William and Mary
were crowned as the first ruler where two people equally share the power. (Stuart) That year the
English Bills of Rights were written which basically limited the power of the monarchs and that
there are limits to what the King or Queen can do. William and Mary humbly accepted the
document and signed, a new type of government also rose in which the people could choose who
ruled their kingdom, and it was called a democratic government. (Stuart)
King Louis XVI controlled France during 1754 1793; the population was unevenly divided; the
3rd estate makes up about 97% of the entire population. The 3rd estate was very poor, they rarely

war to help the Americans hoping avenge his grandfather s losses to Britain he raised
taxes.(Roberts) It made the people more angry; winter also came and created a drought which

Alliances Will Determine The Fate Of The Chickasaw Tribe
Alliances will determine the fate of the Chickasaw tribe. During the Revolutionary war,
Payamataha, the Chickasaw foreign diplomat, decided that maintaining peace and neutrality would
better benefit the tribe and preserve the Chickasaw people and land. With Independence Lost by
Kathleen DuVal, Payamataha decision to stay out of the Revolutionary War and advocate peace led
to the defeat of the British and results in the loss of the Chickasawland by the Americans. During
the Seven Years War, the Chickasaws suffered many casualties and loss of resources while fighting
off the French. Due to the many casualties, Payamataha felt that his strategy of peace would benefit
the Chickasaws the most. However, Payamataha did not anticipate that the alliance with the British
would affect the Americans view; no matter how minuscule the Chickasaws actions were.
The Chickasaws made many mistakes during the Revolutionary War. Although Payamataha made
resolutions of maintaining peace, the Chickasaws still made an alliance with the British without
making the intentions clear. Despite the alliance, the Chickasaw did everything possible to stay
out of the war while still staying on the good side of the British. While reassuring the British of the
alliance in Mobile, Payamataha used his time to secure peace with other Indian Nations such as the
Creeks, Choctaws, Cherokees, and Quapaws. In 1777 Payamataha sent a commission across the
Mississippi to discuss joint interest with the Quapaw, and the

The nursing profession is very challenging and demanding. As a nurse, you must be dedicated,
reliable and trustworthy. When a nurse enters into a critical care unit there is more responsibility
placed on him or her. It is the job of the nurse to uphold professional competence. Failure to do so
may result in malpractice. According to Finkelman and Kenner (2016) malpractice is an act or
continuing conduct of a professional that does not meet the standard of professional competence
and results in provable damages to the patient (p. 185). In order to have a successful lawsuit filed,
there are four criteria that must be met. First, there must have been a nursepatient relationship,

  • 2. Dramatic Irony In The Cask Of Amontillado In the Cask of Amontillado a short story by Edgar Allen Poe the protagonist of the story, Montresor, is a very clever man. For instance, the story is told from Montresor s point of view and it begins with Montresor talking about how he s going to get revenge on his friend, Fortunato. The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as I best could; but when ventured upon insult, I vowed revenge...I continued, as my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was at the thought of his immolation. Here Poe uses dramatic irony to show the readers that Montresor is devising a plan to get revenge on Fortunato, and Fortunato isn t aware of what Montresor is planning. Montresor then coincidentally sees Fortunato at Carnival.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Incidentally, most of the story is set in the catacombs (which symbolizes death) of the Montresors. I drink, he said, to the buried that repose around us. And I to your long life. He again took my arm, and we proceeded. These vaults, he said, are extensive. The Montresors, I replied, were a great and numerous family. I forget your code of arms. A huge human foot d or, in a field azure; the foot crushes a serpent rampant whose fangs are imbedded in the heel. And the motto? Nemo me impune lacessit. The author uses more irony when Montresor toasts to Fortunato s long life but the readers know Montresor is going to get revenge on Fortunato, and Montresor does not really mean what he s saying. Then they discuss the Montresor code of arms and the motto. The motto means Nobody provokes me with impunity. This tells the readers why Montresor has to get his revenge. In fact, Montresor was planning on redressing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chopped is a competition show where contestants are given a diverse array of ingredients that are unusual and don t necessarily go well together. Some of the strange ingredients the contestants were given included pink marshmallow peeps, a chocolate bunny, and also a lamb leg. The idea is to create a dish using all the ingredients you are given to make a dish. There are three rounds, appetizer, entrГ©e, and dessert. Each round one contestant is eliminated or chopped from the competition until two contestants are left standing in the dessert round. On the menu was Pea soup, roasted red pepper and gat cheese sandwiches, and for dessert she prepared a carrot and pineapple cake. I noticed throughout the episode that her instructions for the audience were easy and detailed enough to follow along with. I think this style went along with the personality she portrayed which was a happy and laid back kind of person. The presentation of her meal was on all white dishes, the dishes matched the dГ©cor of her kitchen. She was very adamant on using fresh herbs from her garden which was a feature that episode. At the same time, it is complex to point out these differences because they are subtle. To illustrate one difference between work and labor, here is an example from a building site. The manager or contractor organizes the structure of the tasks that need to be executed. The laborers are those who are doing the heavy work, laying bricks, digging the holes and carrying the lumber. The manager, foreman and the laborers, however, are all working at the site. It is only those doing the heavy work that would be considered to be laboring. The effects include a lack of motivation, time management, concentration, and problem solving skills. Other effects observed are changes in emotions and relationships. • 13. Battle Of San Juan Hill Essay The Battle of San Juan Hill July 1, 1898 was one of the bloodiest battles of The Spanish American War. The battle of San Juan Hill also known as San Juan Heights was of strategic importance because it permitted the Americans to place guns above the harbor at Santiago. The gun positions overlooking the harbor prevented the Spanish Navy from escaping which ultimately led to their land forces surrendering shortly after the loss of San Juan Hill. (United States History) U.S. General William Shafter ordered the attack on El Caney and San Juan Hill. General Shafter had hoped to take El Caney prior to beginning the push for San Juan Hill but the Spanish defenders proved themselves to be tenacious and managed to hold off a great number of American attackers. The steadfast defense of the Spanish prevented the Americans from securing El Caney until late in the afternoon. Spanish gunfire managed to take out hundreds of Americans but failed stop an estimated 8,000 troops from continuing on towards San Juan Hill. Troops were then split into two flanks at the base of the heights in order to take San Juan Hill and Kettle Hill with the order from Lieutenant John Miley that the heights must be taken at all hazards . • 14. How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today s... Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technologyis not just shaping culture; modern film and internet culture is shaping the development of today s society. Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect instrument for the look at me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one who searches for validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both ... When the epiglottis is not covering the opening to the lungs air may pass freely into and out of the trachea. The trachea sometimes called the windpipe branches into two bronchi, which in turn lead to a lung. Once in the lung the bronchi branch many times into smaller bronchioles, which eventually terminate in small sacs called alveoli. It is in the alveoli that the actual transfer of oxygen to the blood takes place. The alveoli are shaped like inflated sacs and exchange gas through a membrane. The passage of oxygen into the blood and carbon dioxide out of the blood is dependent on three major factors: 1) the partial pressure of the gases, 2) the area of the pulmonary surface, and 3) the thickness of the membrane (Gerking, 1969). The membranes in the alveoli provide large surface areas for the free exchange of gasses. The typical thickness of the pulmonary membrane is less than the thickness of a red blood cell. The pulmonary surface and the thickness of the alveolar membranes are not directly affected related to altitude and affects gas transfer in the alveoli. • 17. Narrative Voice In The Turn Of The Screw By Henry James A simple fact of literature is that a story simply cannot be told without the presence of a nar rator. This textual voice literally narrates the story and therefore wields the power to influ ence it in many ways. Sometimes, it is not what the narrator reveals that is important, but what is left out. Writers can use the different aspects of narration to make their point more efficiently and it is therefore an obvious focus point when it comes to interpreting a text. Henry James The Turn of the Screw has for several reasons been in literary critics spotlight and this essay focuses on the changes in narrativevoice taking place in the introduction along with the first three chapters of the story with some final comments on their relation to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We get no comments from the original narrative voice whatsoever and the story being told is left solely to the reader to interpret since the whole novella ends inside the frame of the creepy story being told. This leaves many questions unanswered and is unor dinary for any novella at the very least. The unsettling events of the tale, however, ask the obvious question of whether the reader can truly trust the woman s letters as factual. Perhaps, she was merely imagining everything. The possibility of an unstable mind cannot be left out and this damages her credibility as a narrator. In addition, since the transcript of the story has travelled through several hands, it can have been altered. This seems unlikely, though, since the transcript surely would have been affected by Douglas knowledge of both prior and sub sequent events that would have given the story an almost omniscient narrator which it far from has. It faithfully remains restricted to the governess point of view. She, however, tells the events as she recalls them, not as they occur, and even though the original first person narrator seems to know the manuscript s recipient, we actually do not know whether we can trust him either. • 19. Symptoms And Symptoms Of Panic Disorder A mental illness is the same as a physical illness or disease; it follows a certain pattern, consists of a multitude of symptoms and has the potential to be treated. The only difference is that a mental illness affects the brain and the mind, and in today s society, has negative connotations associated with it. Mental illness is just as biological as any physical disease, and can be just as serious and devastating to the individual. One mental illness, in particular, is believed to be very common and easily reversible: panic disorder. This illness is classified under the DSM 5 as an anxiety disorder, and it is separate from panic attacks, which by themselves are not a disorder (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The Construction Of Red Black Trees 1 Introduction In recent years, much research has been devoted to the construction of red black trees; nevertheless, few have refined the confusing unification of Internet QoS and active networks [3,13,23,18,8]. The impact on random robotics of this has been adamantly opposed. An essential problem in hardware and architecture is the synthesis of checksums. To what extent can hash tables be developed to address this question? Statisticians never enable the Turing machine in the place of robots. Such a hypothesis is mostly a confirmed aim but fell in line with our expectations. Indeed, Web services [22] and public private key pairs have a long history of interacting in this manner. Indeed, operating systems [30] and RAID have a long history of interacting in this manner [35,22,19,33]. The basic tenet of this method is the visualization of hierarchical databases. • 38. Sample Comprehensive Assessment Comprehensive Assessment Did the exhibition of your work to the public provide you with a worthwhile experience? Yes, exhibiting my work to the public was a worthwhile experience because it allowed me to see my project through the eyes of new viewers, as well as over hearing some criticism of my work. Since I had worked on my project for quite a long time, I became desensitized to my photographs. I did not see them as revolting anymore, but during the exhibition, I saw a few disgusted reactions. One in particular was an older woman, who after glancing at my images, made a sour face and immediately moved on. Although I thought that was a funny reaction, it also reminded me that other people react to my work in a different way than I do; I thought that my images were fascinating and beautiful, but she apparently did not. Next year, I will be studying art history at Concordia, and I do not think that I would have considered this if I had not gone through the ALC program, and I also do think that the theory classes that I took have prepared me for university and future academic research. • 41. Why Is Mulch Important To You Essay If there s one singular thing you can do for their garden or landscape one simple action you can take that could potentially bring your plants back to life and prevent current and future disasters, it s mulching. And I m not necessarily talking about pre colored cypress bark that you see surrounding lonely barberries in a Target parking lot. I m talking about real mulching with real, workable materials that your plants will eventually be able to benefit from. Granted, painted chunks of wood still have the potential to break down into the soileventually, but the process is slow and ugly and isn t meant to serve the purposes that mulchshould be serving. So, what kinds of mulches are best and why is mulch so good for your garden? If you ve ever taken a hike through an undisturbed forest, or stopped to really look at what s going on under that messy tree of yours in the fall, you ll get a better understanding of what mulch is and what it s meant to do. Look on the ground. What do you see? Depending on the time of year, you ll see something different. Most notably, in the fall, you ll see a colorful blanket of spent leaves, covering everything they land on. If they do this on your lawn, you may see a problem. In the forest, those leaves are far from a problem. They re a necessary and welcome part of the ecosystem. Mother Nature doesn t do anything by accident. Those fallen leaves are full of all the necessary nutrients that the plants and animals in the soil on the forest floor need. They also provide protection from the winter weather, offering a barrier between the soil and the freezing temperatures above. During the growing season, the mulch keeps the soil on the forest floor evenly moist and cool, creating a suitable environment for plants and animals to thrive and flourish. The size and thickness of the leaf cover is easily and quickly broken down by the organisms living in the soil, which then improves the soil and makes the nutrients from those leaves available to the plants again, starting the cycle over. In a controlled environment such as a garden or landscape with an artificial array of plant materials, attempting to let everything naturally mulch itself is impossible. That job belongs to the ... Some don t even know they have a diseasein them till its too late, or other know all there lives and some learn to live with the disease and others live every day in fear of getting even more sick and hurt. Genetic disorders are very common some more than others. Its all has to do with our 46 chromosomes. Genetic disorders can occur to anyone. Many people believe genetic disorders only happen to those who have family cases with genetic disorders but, it s not something you can truly control. When a cell is going through Meiosis the outcome should be that every gametes should have 23 chromosomes which carry your genetic code. • 44. Physical Environment In Africa It is easy to forget about the trials and tribulations of the physical world because we are constantly being distracted by the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. Between rising skyscrapers, expanding cities, and growing populations many forget about the ground they walk on and how their actions impact the long term use of the land we capitalize on every day. In Africa, the physical environment has a huge impact on what plants and vegetation grow throughout the continent, affecting how its inhabitants live their daily lives. It is through Africa s physical environment and climatevariability that determines the continent s diverse vegetation species and drives local economies. Africa s Physical Environment Africa s physical environment is a vast piece of land due to several factors. A large reason as to why the continent is so large is because of the number of cratons that exist throughout the continent, which contain areas that are composed of ancient crystalline basement rock (Child, Lesson 2.1, 2017). Due to its long dated history, Africa has a very complex geological makeup. Another contributor to this vast continent s physical environment is the impact of tectonic plates. Because the tectonic plate Africa sits on is relatively stationary and there has been no collision of neighboring plates, mountain chains have not formed. However, a geographical element that is well known due to the impact of continental plates is the formation of the Great Rift Valley (McKenna). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
